Pub

Beer garden
Live music bar
Named after the late socialist poet John Hewitt, The John Hewitt is a traditional pub in Belfast that offers a selection of mainly bottled Irish beers from various breweries. The pub features an old-world ambiance with dark wood and stained glass decor, and it is known for its reliable gastropub fare. In addition to serving as a haven for fine beers and dependable pub grub, the establishment also supports local artists by displaying their art for sale on the walls.
Unbelievable!! Came here two days ago for beer, which was probably the best we’ve had in Europe. Made by a boundary brewing. Came back before flying out to get another beer and lunch. The food is incredible.

A really lovely pub in the memory of John Hewitt, and his work. Great selection of craft beers and drinks in general. Food was awesome. The ragu lasagne was great!

First time in Belfast stopped in for a beer and food lovely little bar with a big range of local Irish beer, sour's, stout and wine Food is had the vegetarian lasagne served a good portion very filling whilst drinking and tidy sour 😋 Venue cateres for vegan and vegetarian food eaters food was lovely Can't argue with an empty plate Served by a lovely lady Armanda recommend me the apricot sour and vegetarian lasagne both were delicious I will definitely be returning keep up the good work 👏
Kimberly K — Google review
This pub makes you feel you are at your local. There is a great atmosphere with a selection of music but it is the nights when they offer traditional sessions that it feels the most welcoming. The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. Always best to book a table if you want to eat, especially on the weekends.
Michelle B — Google review
Visited with a collegue for a spot of lunch. We both had the chicken parm burger with parmesan and garlic fries. Our server kindly pointed out the lunch specials and these two together normally cost £19 but with the lunch deal only cost £12. We ordered and paid up front at the bar and our food came out shortly after. It was delicious. Great portions and just tasted so fresh. The basil pesto on the burger was amazing 👏 Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu particularly the lasagne bites. It was early on in the day about 12ish and the pub was nice and quiet with a few lunch time pinters beginning to congregate as we were leaving. Drinks selection was good with lots of different beers etc to try but alas i stuck to pepsi. Franky's Lasagneria at the John Hewitt - superb! #lasagneria #thejohnhewitt #belfast #belfastfood

Absolutely beautiful, stunning bar and don't get me started the food is mind blowing I have never ate food like it. Nice chill vibes too 😎

I don't know what it was about this place, but from the moment I arrived in Belfast I was immediately and inexplicably draw towards this place. My girlfriend refused to go in because she said it looked rough. By the third day in Belfast she was in there. It's got a really great selection of beers and alt Stouts. And there was live trad music. For me my favourite pub in Belfast so far.

Blessed mother in heaven! This is an Irish pub! Found a new fav local whiskey and be sure to try franks lasagna (probably better than moms spaghetti em! 😂)

Pub

Function room facility
The Errigle Inn, located on Ormeau Road, is a historic local spot known for its vibrant atmosphere and entertainment. With five separate rooms, it's one of the city's first bars to receive an entertainment license. The pub boasts 26 high-definition screens and specializes in showing GAA, horse racing, football, boxing, and rugby - being near Ulster's home ground. It also sponsors the Ulster Women's team.
My wife, daughters and grandchildren went to the Errigle for brunch yesterday and it was a fantastic experience. The food was excellent, the service couldn't have been better and it was great value. Everybody, including the children, enjoyed it. It was clean plates all round. Do try their brunch menu. You will not be disappointed.

Great pub with people watching seats outside if you're lucky enough to get some sunshine. Good spot for sports or a quiet pint in the snug bar. Always a good atmosphere.
Mark M — Google review
Popular and warmly welcoming bar/restaurant at Ormeau - Belfast South. Tempting but still not pricey menu, friendly staff, well chilled Guinness and more craft samples on tap. Good live music on regular basis. Can be pretty busy during weekends so resevation is recommended.
Vlada N — Google review
Your bouncer is a disgrace threatened to fight my 18 year old brother after not believing his identification was authentic, if this establishment does not get back to me I will be making a police report. His SIA badge was not visible, horrible treatment.
Patrick J — Google review
Great place for any size of function and I have done a few over the years here. It’s clean friendly and the food is nice. There are 3 rooms which are used every weekday and weekends, it’s a place that have a good hardcore clientele and it’s very well run. Door staff are friendly without the feeling of being in your face. It is a safe friendly atmosphere and a must for any sports fan to enjoy the large screens while having a pint of your favourite tipple. My one gripe is if your working there they charge for a coffee, kinda says how tight they are. Most places even offer food never mind a coffee lol
Skip A — Google review
A "proper" pub, the inside is especially interesting. Three cask beers on sale along with a big range of mostly local craft beer on keg and in can. Have heard they do good food too. B easy to reach on the bus from Belfast centre, but beware of early closing times ...

Brilliant bar, fantastic Monday quiz, superb staff and excellent Guinness. Great screens for sport and the best bar outside of Belfast City Centre

Pub
The Woodworkers is a trendy bi-level tavern located in Belfast, attached to the popular Laverys complex. It has become a local favorite due to its rustic-chic ambiance and rotating craft beer selection. The menu features generous portions, including a monster Sloppy Joe Vegan Burger and a vegan sharing platter. This spot is particularly popular among students and offers an extensive selection of homebrewed and imported beers, making it an ideal place to hang out with friends.
The Woodworkers: Where Beer is Religion and Bartenders Are Saints. After a truly abysmal run-in with another pub-that-shall-not-be-named, we wandered into The Woodworkers hoping for a pint and a palate cleanse — and ended up having one of the best beer experiences of our lives. The place oozes cool without trying too hard: laid-back vibes, an excellent selection, and bartenders who actually like people (a shocking concept, apparently). We were curious about the beer tasting flight — and even though the official “beer experience” didn’t start until 16:00, we showed up fashionably early at 14:00 like eager beer nerds with no sense of time. Enter the bartender — That young woman is an absolute legend. Not only did she not roll her eyes or throw us out for daring to exist before beer o’clock, she straight-up went above and beyond. She served us a glorious tasting board with eight different beers, explaining each one with genuine enthusiasm and that effortless Belfast charm. She gave us more than we paid for, both in quality and kindness. By the end, we felt like we’d just taken a mini craft beer masterclass — and had a few good laughs along the way. This place gets it. Great beer, good people, zero attitude. Whether you’re a beer geek or just here for a good time, The Woodworkers delivers. And if you’re lucky enough to be served by that bartender — give her a raise and a medal. Or at least a thank-you pint. 10/10 would get accidentally tipsy here again.

Absolutely loved The Woodworkers! The staff were so lovely and welcoming. The space itself was cosy and relaxed, with a great atmosphere and really convenient being so close to the bar. Can’t wait to come back!

Great beer, good music and food to die for. Our 2 dogs were welcome as well. What more could we ask for? Cheers from Germany :)
Kaetchen194 — Google review
Food was good but service sucked. I asked about the menu and one girl couldn’t tell me a thing and didn’t care to get answers. She sent us to the bar where the bartenders seemed like we were inconveniencing them. They talked to each other the whole time while being nice and welcoming to the other customers. Had high hopes because the bouncer there was very friendly to us.
Brianna F — Google review
Booked a table for Pre NI Match drinks and food, there were 5 Adults and 5 kids, due to the new layout we weren't able to get a table in our preferred area but got a space in the rear workshop, it was comfortable, but a bit isolated and not much atmosphere to be honest. No issues with either the food and drinks and staff were very helpful as normal.
Keith M — Google review
We try to get together every 6 months or so with ex work mates and really enjoy the pool hall at Laverys. Atmosphere and the food is great. Staff are always friendly and know how to pour a guinness. Already looking at dates that suit everyone for another get-together.

Pub
Sunflower Public House is a renovated pub with a beer garden featuring a pizza oven and a well-stocked bar offering an array of regional and international beers. Located just minutes away from the city center, it's easily accessible for visitors. The pub retains its heritage with the iconic security cage at the front door, reminiscent of Belfast's past.
The Sunflower Public House is a distinctive and much-loved pub located on Union Street, just behind Belfast Central Library and near the University of Ulster. It's known for its authentic character and a slightly alternative vibe, standing out from more commercial establishments. One of its most recognizable features is the security cage on its front door, a relic from 1980s Belfast that has been intentionally preserved as part of the city's social history, now serving as a unique talking point and a symbol of resilience. Music is central to the Sunflower's identity. It regularly hosts traditional, Appalachian, and Gypsy Swing sessions, as well as folk and bluegrass. The pub prides itself on offering a wide selection of craft beers, including local Northern Irish brews. The Sunflower is widely known as a very dog-friendly pub, welcoming well-behaved dogs both inside and in its beer garden, often providing water bowls and treats. This has made it a favorite among dog owners. The Sunflower Public House is considered a "back to basics" pub, free of gimmicks, and celebrated for its genuine character, excellent music scene, good beer selection, and welcoming atmosphere, making it a highly recommended spot for those seeking an authentic Belfast pub experience.
Anupam M — Google review
The Sunflower has much to offer. A nice selection of craft beers on tap. I believe nightly music. Friendly folks behind the bar. Cool artwork. A massive back patio. Artisan pizza in the patio. The night we visited the place was packed. It was heavily inhabited by a hipster crowd. It was a Friday night so everyone was in the mood to party. I reckon that you can put The Sunflower in your top 5 list of pubs to visit in Belfast.
Tom L — Google review
best pub in Belfast. i come every time i’m in town and it never disappoints. from the staff, the people, the music, the atmosphere. incredible street art in the area as well.
T — Google review
So I was told they keep the cage over the front door as a reminder of how the neighbourhood has improved, fair enough. So if you're a tourist don't be put off by that. It was very welcoming. We came here primarily for the Beamish which was really good.
K Q — Google review
Great place. We were staying a Sunday night in Belfast on the way home from the Mourne Mountain Marathon in September so were ready for a good feed and a pint or two after a weekend in the hills. Great cask beer - can't remember what it was but it was very good. Delicious pizzas in the garden. Great service. Great friendly atmosphere. Later when we went indoors there was a music session going on. What more could you want!
Jonathan G — Google review
Don't have great photos for this one, but trust me the Beamy is Creamy! Great spot, great atmosphere and it really took the cake for our favorite Belfast pub. Even grabbed their tote bag on the way out after visit number 2.
Brayden R — Google review
🌻 Sunflower Public House: A Glorious Ode to Belfast’s Beating Heart 🌻 If pubs were poems, then Sunflower Public House would be a sonnet—bold, lyrical, and utterly unforgettable. Nestled on Union Street like a secret whispered between old bricks and revolutionary dreams, this place isn’t just a bar. It’s a living, breathing love letter to Belfast’s soul. From the moment you pass through the iconic security cage (a relic turned cultural monument), you’re stepping into something sacred. The air hums with live music, laughter, and the scent of wood-fired pizza drifting from the beer garden like a siren’s call. Every pint poured here tastes like it was brewed with intention, rebellion, and a dash of magic. And then—there’s him. The barman. The legend. The mystery with the dark beard and the knowing smile. Let’s call him Barry, because every great barman deserves a name worthy of folklore. Barry doesn’t just serve drinks—he orchestrates experiences. With the grace of a seasoned poet and the precision of an engineer, he glides between taps and tales, pouring pints and wisdom in equal measure. His beard, dark as midnight and twice as enigmatic, could probably tell stories if it had its own mic. Barry (or whatever his real name is—perhaps he’s a myth conjured by the spirit of the place) embodies everything Sunflower stands for: warmth, grit, and a refusal to be ordinary. He remembers your order, your dog’s name, and probably your star sign. He’s the kind of barman who makes you feel like you’ve come home—even if it’s your first time through the door. So raise your glass to Sunflower. To the music that spills into the street. To the Beamish that flows smoother than a rebel’s verse. To the cider that dances on your tongue. And most of all, to the dark-bearded bard behind the bar—whoever he may be.

Bullhouse East is a craft beer company that prioritizes community and sustainability, supporting local causes and using environmentally friendly methods. They offer a wide variety of unique beers made with local ingredients, including a large quantity of Irish-grown malt. The establishment provides a clean and inviting atmosphere with an outdoor smoking area and a separate pizza place. Customers can also enjoy spirits and wine at the bar.
Amazing bar and very relaxed space to meet, eat and drink in!! Highly recommended! Large selection of craft beers and drinks. There is a small beer garden with an amazing wood fired pizza area...I had a Pepperoni and Mozzarella and it was one of the best pizzas I've had outside of Itlay! Delicious...will be back! Ps good for families and they allow dogs too!!!
Whalley F — Google review
Bullhouse East has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the area. They’ve recently opened Nook inside as a daytime coffee shop, and it’s a fantastic addition. The coffee is rich and well-made, and the cookies are absolutely delicious – the perfect pairing for a relaxed morning or afternoon catch-up. By night, Bullhouse East transforms into a buzzing venue with some of the best pizza around. The quality is consistently excellent, with fresh ingredients and great flavor. The vibe in the evening is lively and social, which makes it a great place to meet friends or enjoy a casual night out. The service is friendly and efficient whether you’re there for a quiet morning coffee or a busy evening pizza session. The team clearly cares about the experience and it shows. One thing to keep in mind: it does get really busy during peak times, especially in the evenings. But that’s just a sign of how popular the place has become – and for good reason. Whether you’re looking for a chilled daytime café or a vibrant evening hangout, Bullhouse East (and Nook) has you covered. Highly recommend!

The Dirty Onion and Yardbird is a unique establishment in Belfast, housed in a historic timber-framed building dating back to 1680. It seamlessly combines traditional Irish pub aesthetics with modern elements, such as a Jameson barrel sculpture in the beer garden and the presence of Yardbird chicken restaurant. This fusion creates a hipster-friendly atmosphere while still retaining its soul as one of the finest places for traditional Irish live music.
Popped in here late afternoon for something to eat. Tried the fried chicken yard burger and gravy loaded fries and both were delicious! The pub was pretty busy for the time of day and had live music downstairs. Great atmosphere, would definitely go again.

Was here with a group of friends on a Sunday night. The place was great. Atmosphere was brilliant and the service was quick and hassle free. “Anna’s number” were playing and were genuinely some of the best live entertainment I’ve seen in a bar in a while. From the mix of music, crowd interaction and a saxaphone of all things. Overall the aesthetic of the whole place is pretty neat and I will happily come back again.
Joe C — Google review
A lovely location for a night out. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and was full when we were there so it is necessary to make a booking well in advance. The food was very filling and enjoyable, and it was reasonably priced (Most mains cost between £10-£15). Would definitely recommend!
Lily C — Google review
Food was absolutely wonderful. We had the rotisserie chicken meal for 2. It's a good deal and comes with two drinks and some side dishes making it a good value. It would be 5 stars but our server cleared our plates and seemingly ignored us afterwards. We had to go and ask for the bill. Great spot, good food and awesome atmosphere.
E M — Google review
I made a reservation two weeks ago. The restaurant is upstairs of the Bar of Dirty Onion. I waited to be seated but the staff didnt seemed bothered to ask. First we got a table where its impossible to sit if someone eats at the bar of the restaurant. The staff ignores you and seemed like to have Gen Z behavior. Even the chefs in the kitchen looked unmotivated. Just one blonde lady was friendly. Food was fine. Restaurant itself too loud with inside music and outside. Rotisserie Chicken looked too charcoaled. Price for two persons fine. But we wouldn't come again. Dissapointing.
Mirella N — Google review
Cozy place. Nice music and atmosphere. Chicken and salad were yummie. Got an upgrade to a half chicken thigh, a quarter is too little even for me. Staff is quick, reactive and friendly.

Located on the second floor. The grilled chicken was tender and juicy. The dips were tasty. The ribs were soft. Overall, it was a good experience.
Juthathat K — Google review
Over in Belfast on holiday and The dirty onion was recommended to us many times as a place to try. I was craving a burger, which was amazing however I deeply regret not getting a rotisserie chicken and will absolutely have to come back to try it. The food was fantastic the atmosphere was great but ultimately it was the staff and our server Bethany who done a fantastic job looking after the birthday girl. I couldn't have asked for a better experience than what we received at The Dirty Onion. Definitely worth a visit Thank you so much! Highly recommend.

Bootleggers is a warm and relaxed eatery that serves up hearty burgers, tacos, street corn, cocktails, and beers. The bar offers an extensive selection of specialized gin and whiskey cocktails as well as American craft beers that are not widely available in other bars in the city. With its funky Caribbean interior and bench seating, it's a great spot for groups to enjoy sharing cocktails and pub food.
Very tasty burgers, I had the one with fired Camembert. It was delicious! And not to mention the sweet potato fries sent me to heaven. Warmly recommend this place. Book upfront! I was alone and they made exception to accommodate me on one bar table.

I honestly think it’s in the top 3 burgers I’ve ever had. Place was packed, and silly us for showing up without a reservation. We put our name on the list and were seated 30 minutes later. I had the Argentinian burger which was great and the a simple fries to compliment whilst my friend has a classic burger and loaded tater tots. Really really enjoyed the burger and would order the same again.

This place was pretty busy, even on an early Monday evening. Managed to get seated in a dark corner. My order was taken quickly - I had the Big Daddy burger and sweet potato fries. Both were very tasty and well cooked. I've had better burgers, but I can't complain at all. I can see why this place was s popular.

Best bar ever in Belfast!! Sooo so nice, OMG that burgers!!! Like heaven😋 beautiful...and the Blue moon beer! All the staff are very friendly, very cool place. So big american style bar, very spacious, cosy. Highly recommend!😍

Loved this place. Huge range of burgers which were big, filling and good quality at a reasonable price. Music and atmosphere of the venue made it seem very lively without being too much. Busy when we went but staff welcoming, friendly and attentive when needed. Decor is retro, like the music.

First time at Bootleggers and we were really impressed! We had lunch with our two kids and everyone left happy. The food was spot on, portions were great, and the staff were lovely. Nice buzz about the place without being too noisy. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

We came between 4 and 5 and had a very good time, the food was good and service was fast and efficient, I appreciated that someone came back to me to tell me the desperados were just put in the fridge and therefore not very cold and gave me the opportunity to change my order. Finished the meal with a very nice balanced cocktail. We'll be back !

The Garrick is a Victorian pub in Belfast with a smart, panelled, and tiled interior. It has earned awards for its ornate design and offers a great selection of 50 beers and ciders, including unique craft beers not found elsewhere in the city. The pub serves delicious bar food from lunchtime to 8pm and hosts traditional music sessions on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
One of the best pubs and restaurants in the city of Belfast. When someone told me about how delicious The Garrick’s food is, I doubted. Because, as a Nigerian, I’m used to our delicious African meals. You know, the pepper, fresh vegetables, etc. Well, as someone who loves to try new things, I decided to buy one of their food and man, it was deliciously delicious 😋. And the pub? Well, I don’t drink but I love way the customer service is top notch — they’re friendly and knowledgeable. One thing I observed as well is that people, the customers, who visit the pub or bar are well mannered and nice people. Anyways, is this a restaurant I recommend? Yes! I’ll be buying again from them. I hope you found this helpful? If you do, kindly give me a thumbs up and follow me for more reviews as I journey across this earth (and space) 😀

Brilliant night in The Garrick. The drinks are reasonably priced with great specials on offer. Brilliant Irish whisky selection. We were in on a Thursday night at 9pm and there was a live trad session on.

Oh my God. First time visiting Belfast and had to try the local food. I had the pepper steak pie and champ. The best pie I've ever had. Proper chunks of well flavoured meat. The champ was really nice too. Yum yum is how I describe it. Fantastic flavour. Everyone should try it.

Located on the Ormeau Road in Belfast, Northern Lights is a popular pub owned by Galway Bay Brewery. The laid-back atmosphere and wide selection of craft beers, wines, and spirits make it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. This dog-friendly spot offers delicious food such as burgers, wraps, and wings. With its vibrant ambiance and friendly staff, it's the perfect place for a casual evening out.
We've been running our retro arcade here for a number of months and it's been a great experience. We've been welcomed with open arms and helped with every aspect of running our events, they even made a special retro food menu for us which has been a great success! Great venue, great staff and kudos to Aidan who reached out and got us there.
Martin N — Google review
As regular patrons of Northern Lights we’ve come to deeply appreciate the bar’s consistent excellence in both its beer selection and its atmosphere. It’s a space that strikes a rare balance: relaxed yet vibrant, accessible yet discerning, and welcoming even to families with children. The recent Aurora Beer Festival, held over two days, was a particularly impressive expression of the bar’s ethos—a carefully curated celebration of the local and regional craft beer scene. Among many excellent pours, the standout was a superbly rich imperial stout from White Hag in Sligo—bold, complex, and the perfect centrepiece for a festival of this kind. Special credit is due to Aidan, who not only delivered his usual attentive and well-informed service, but also took on the considerable task of organising the entire festival. The result was an event that felt cohesive and seamless—no doubt benefiting from the structured, analytical mindset he brings to both the bar and, as we’ve gathered, his scientific research. That dual expertise showed in everything from the thoughtful pacing to the clarity of presentation. Northern Lights continues to distinguish itself not by flash or trend, but by intention. It’s a place where hospitality feels genuine, where beer is taken seriously without being pretentious, and where events like Aurora reflect a quiet ambition to raise the bar for what a local can be. We’ll be back soon—as always—and are already looking forward to what comes next.

Great vibe. It was comfort and relaxed. However the foods were not that good. It was salty and oily. After eating I did not feel well may be because it was too rich for me.

Pet and Family friend pub that specialises in unique craft beers. A good selection of pub grub options that were plentiful and good quality. Staff were friendly and pleasant. Plus the choice of board games and colour books for children was a nice touch.

Absolutely fabulous place for food and drinks on Ormeau Road, and the prices are really reasonable too! My friends and I were going to Ormeau Park for a concert last night and wanted dinner before heading to the gig. We went to Northern Lights and got an incredible meal. The menu is fantastically curated, loads of options available. I ordered the burger and fries with cheese and bacon, and everything arrived fresh and piping hot, and tasting delicious! Another of our party ordered the chili, which came with rice and tortilla and was so warming and tasty. The chicken wings were absolutely unreal, so flavoursome and such good quality. There were 10 of us there last night and not one of us had a bad word to say about our meals! I'll definitely be making a return visit here soon!!

Brewery
The Deer's Head is a historic 19th-century pub in Belfast, housing Bells Brewery, the city's first brewpub with an onsite craft brewery. Visitors can witness the brewing process up close while enjoying a selection of local craft beers and Bells Brewery specials. The pub offers a vibrant atmosphere with live entertainment and serves as a gastro pub, providing excellent food alongside its beer offerings.
Visited on a chilly, wet Sunday afternoon. Really lovely pub, staff were attentive and friendly. Lovely booth to watch the world go by. Really liked the light switches - able to get attention, reorder drinks, etc. without going to the bar. Very handy (not that we needed it, the servers were very present)! The wide in-house brewed beer selection was a good temptation to visit, but the big draw is the food - a revelation, easily the best roast dinner I’ve had in Belfast. The collaboration with Urban Scullery (whose lead chef was a Masterchef UK finalist) is clearly working well. Piping hot, tonnes of flavour, generous portions and reasonably priced. Knocked off one star for ambience as I wasn’t expecting to eat dinner with the footie on in the background, but it is a pub so that’s on me. In general, can’t ask for more and will certainly be back and recommending to all.

Great service & great atmosphere! I have family and friends visit me from the US and this is my go-to place to take them for a great time, the food is excellent, beer is excellent, they pour a perfect pint of Guinness and there’s always a great variety of entertainment, but above all- THE STAFF ARE MAGNIFIQUE!!

The Deer's Head is a perfectly serviceable traditional pub in central Belfast. We stopped in for dinner one night. A fairly simple plate of fish & chips along with a caesar salad. Service was pleasant. Food was adequate. A decent selection of beers on tap. Very spacious. Moderate lighting level & certainly not noisy. No real complaints about this place, it was just quite average.
Tom L — Google review
Thought this place seemed nice based on the reviews and the interior décor. Little did I know. My experience started when I went to order at the bar. The woman behind the bar announced it was last orders when I approached and that they were closing in an hour (one hour earlier than it said online). I can drink a drink in an hour, I thought, so I decided to order. This was a mistake. Upon ordering, the woman behind the bar audibly scoffed at my order and rolled her eyes when she went to pour the drinks. I then watched her pour a Guinness in one pour and proceeded to forget about it. After a few minutes of standing at an empty bar, she barked at her colleague to go “top up that Guinness,” who managed to fit maybe one millilitre more of Guinness into the glass and served it to us. We decided to go sit outside to escape the feeling of being a burden, only to discover the smell of urine was overwhelming and then later, to our shock, that there was a poop (hopefully not human!) next to our table. All of this to be maybe the most expensive pint I’ve purchased in Belfast. I cannot recommend it and I cannot understand why this place is still open.

Good selection. Didn't like last order was before 8.30pm

Really poor. We walked in and there was a table with a 6.30pm reservation sign and it was 5.40pm. We sat down. Waitress came over and asked us to get out because it's reserved. We pointed out it's still 50 minutes , they said yes but would still need to "clean the table". So we stood to the side. 5 minutes later 2 men sat at the table. Same thing happened. They argued its still ages, so the manager "with thick eyeliner" said its my bar and I'm asking you to go. She called the door men. Got the guys out. We said it's free for another 35 minutes. Door man said "i know, but we've been told to do this". Terrible. That table sat there for 50 minutes! Poor buisness choice. Manager was very bad, no repor with customers.

Bittles Bar, also known as "The Flatiron," is a historic and eclectic pub located in Belfast. It has been a beloved establishment for over 30 years and is famous for serving the best pint of Guinness in the city. The bar's exterior resembles New York City's Flatiron building, adding to its charm. Inside, colorful paintings of Irish personalities adorn the walls, creating a lively and unique atmosphere.
First-class service! I was very impressed with Bittles Bar. A friend recommended it, and I appreciate that it can be a tourist attraction, so I was expecting to be a bit chaotic. However, the staff have this bar running like a well-oiled machine. They make sure to find you a seat and keep your glass full. I was very impressed and had a great pint! I highly recommend it!!!

We hadn’t been in Bittles for quite a few years and thought, as we were back in NI, we’d stop in. It was busy as usual but we did get a seat. The Guinness was perfectly poured and perfect in temperature. We’re not locals or expert enough to declare it to be the best in Belfast but we agree with those who do. Perfect pints and unique place to enjoy them in.

Been wanting to check this place out for a while now. Everyone says it’s the best Guinness in Belfast for years. Even the Guinness guru himself was here a few weeks ago. Was over at Boundary brewing earlier and the 3 of us heading towards Belfast Central & thought we’d nip in for one on the way As you can see there were multiple people outside drinking pints. No seats inside. We were waiting at bar about to put an order in when the owner I’m surmising came out from behind bar and pointed towards the door and said we’re full. I would have been happy to have a pint outside but I can only surmise this lad just didn’t like the look of us or the sound of our accents who knows. Giving it one star.

Rita's is a popular spot in Belfast known for its Italian ices, frozen custards, and other cold treats. The venue boasts stylish interior decor with a cosy fireplace and retro art on the walls. Rita's is also recognized for its live music and regular happy hours. While the cocktails may be on the pricey side, they are of premium quality.
Lovely venue and the staff were fantastic too. Much needed after the previous bar(The Perch). It was like going into a cross between a Speakeasy and a Jazz Bar. The DJ playing had a good assortment of music and at a volume where it wasn't intrusive on conversations the different groups of people were having. We only went in for one but were there 90 minutes and a few more drinks later 😁. Even the doormen were polite and helpful(they suggested Noras around the corner).

Had a reservation, put at a table with no working light next to 2 parties of around 6 people each. Felt cramped in had barely anything to sit on. Moved up a table when a couple had the same idea about the lack of space as the table next to us freed up. After we grabbed a cocktail my reservation note had been removed with another reservation which started in 5 minutes. This all happened when our stuff was at the table. Shortly after the waiter told us to leave as the other party had arrived. He then seemed confused as it seemed like there had an overbooking as my reservation didn’t end till 7:15pm. The waiter then seemed confused about whether to move us or the other couple. We decided to just leave and go somewhere else for a better experience.

COULDNT HANDLE THE SMELL.... Looks nice and cosy initially when you walk in but it's not long till you begin to pick up a nasty smell emitting from the carpet which looked dirty and felt sticky especially by the bar.... smelt foul and rotten, probably from absorbing all the spills from drinks. If you're gonna have a carpet atleast get it proffesionally cleaned regularly... So disappointed because the place looks great and the drinks menu looked interesting but just couldn't handle the foul smell which the staff seem to love to inhale... we left not even after 10 mins it STANK that bad. And apparently its well known for having a stench... so makes me wonder why nothing has been done...

Usually a reliable watering hole, now just a bit of a hole. Poor seating arrangements forces people to perch beside tables and not sit at the bar. Drinks are still good, well mixed, and reasonably priced. Tends to the "girls night out" crowd which detracts from its preferred image of cocktail bar. Was better and could be again. A little more discrimination on clientele. Also a revamp in decor is needed - rarely seen a more raggedy carpet outside of a Wetherspoons 🤣

Had a great time last night for our society pool night event. Lavery's has always been one of the best bars in my opinion for a chill and social atmosphere when doing events. The pool tables are nice and there were enough for more than 40 people. Booked it online and that was pretty easy to do. The service by the staffs were amazing to, Pearce (apologies i dont know how to spell their name) was such an amazing person. They listened to what we needed for the night and was very considerate. Drinks were nice, a lot of people got drinks over pool. If you want a good night out with some pool and drinks, go here with friends ! Thanks Pearce you were amazing !

We went here on a Tuesday night after another restaurant down the road didn't have any tables available and we're glad we did. Great down to earth Northern Irish atmosphere with good food. Our server was friendly and the food was excellent. Got exactly what we wanted and it tasted delicious. Our table wasn't cleaned properly and I ended up with gravy on my arm and I had to remind them to add our two drinks to our bill after we got it. These two little things are not a big deal though. Great experience and would go back anytime 👍

My team at work has recently booked Lavery's for two separate social events, and the service was brilliant at both. We reserved the back terrace, which was decorated with string lights, and part of the pool room. On the first occasion we ordered finger food platters, and the second we went for the buffet menu- the food was good both times, and meant that people could serve themselves and move around, rather than a sit-down dinner vibe. The Lavery's team were so easy to work with, we'll definitely consider coming back for another social!

I can take or leave craft beers but if I fancy something different I'll come here. Always seems to be pretty busy, and generally is filled by the stereotypical hipsters! But it's good to see it always busy as before it opened the pubs there previously changed names and formats so much I thought it might be a cursed site. Finished in that ultra modern warehouse style but it seems to work quite well. Plenty of seating and friendly staff.

A fantastic haven for craft beer in an up and coming area of the city. Superb selection that changes almost daily (depending on how busy it is) friendly knowledgable staff & good selection of boards. If you enjoy craft beer you need to visit here when in Belfast.

Great to see Belfast getting more independent brewers and bars like this one, definitely should try this one if you don't fancy braving the crowded city centre on the weekend. You can check out what they're serving on their mobile site ahead of time. It's very popular, and you can also indulge your nostalgia and play various board games if you grab a table. All in all really good.

Best spot in Belfast for craft beer, their list is extensive. If it's your first time, ask for a flight (a board of 4 or 8 small glasses of beer) to get a good sampler of what's on tap. One thing I particularly like is that there is a good collection of board games available, making this an even nicer place to spend an hour or two with friends. Just be warned that if you aren't keen on beer, pretty much the only thing you'll get here is cider.

This is a really unique and quirky little bar, the atmosphere is good as is the beer. Brewbot is a very interesting concept that the guys have realised quite well. The Crown Liquor Saloon, built in the 1880s, is a renowned pub in Belfast known for its stunning Victorian and Baroque interiors. The exterior boasts a multi-colored tiled facade with a distinctive crown motif at the entrance. Inside, visitors can admire the ornate red granite bar, intricate mosaic tiles, stained glass windows, and detailed woodwork. The pub's historic significance is further enhanced by its appearance in various films over the years.
This was such a cool pub to grab a pint and lunch at. We went upstairs to eat but I really wish we had gone downstairs because it was such a cool area. The downstairs had a historic and unique design. Besides that the food was so good. The service was a bit slow but there seemed to be only two people working.

A very beautiful and popular historic pub. I especially liked the private snug room, which we had to book in advance for an extra £10 — but it was absolutely worth it. It’s a great feeling to be in a lively pub yet still have your own quiet, private space. The food and drinks were very good. However, the service was not great — probably because there were too many guests and not enough staff that day.

World class pub! Outstanding food, drinks, and service. All the staff is really friendly and helpful. The pub also has snugs- if you’re lucky enough to grab one, do it! I was in Belfast only a couple days but The Crown Liquor Saloon became my pub. Plus their food is outstanding! The steak pie, the tart, and the bangers & champ were all delicious. There’s a dining room upstairs if you can’t get a spot downstairs.

Stunning bar for a unique drink or a memorable evening. Good beer, wide selection of drinks cocktail specials were particularly good on the evening we went. The real attraction is the venue: a historic boozer, with largely original interiors and stunning tiling and ornate ceilings. The main bar area is flanked by boothed seating complete with doors and windows - apparently this was for sultry business transactions to be agreed away from prying eyes in more reserved times! We went for a drink, stayed for a few. Atmosphere is great, was busy but not overbearingly so.

Exactly what you would expect of an Irish pub/bar/saloon. Plenty of activity, can be loud and crowded but the atmosphere is perfect. The dining area is upstairs. Much more quiet and well decorated. There is a limited menu but they have very good selections. Staff is polite and helpful. Food was good.

Wow this is quite a place, I think to get the full experience you need to secure a booth and order on the App, so they bring things to you, as you sit in the private booth. Really enjoyed this pub experience and had some local food "champ" (a type of mashed potatoe) and a well made cocktail. Amazing decor. I hope they keep this place how it is.

With apologies to other purveyors of Irish Stouts, the pint of Whitewater Brewing's Belfast Black I was served at the Crown Liquor Saloon was the best I sampled in my tour of Ireland (N&S). Mourne Seafood Bar, also known as MSB, is a relaxed restaurant in Belfast that has gained iconic status. The nautically-influenced decor sets the tone for classic seafood options that are always good value. The menu features traditional and fresh fish dishes, including shellfish sourced from their own beds at Carlingford Lough. Their seafood chowder is a favorite, known for its light and creamy texture with generous seasoning.
Came here with friends while visiting Belfast and this was the best dinner experience of our trip. All of the staff were great, but a special mention to Louise who was funny, attentive and super friendly. The food was excellent and the atmosphere really relaxed. Not the cheapest restaurant in Belfast but worth every penny. We would definitely return.

The cuttlefish risotto was very good, the couscous salad was bland and needed much more oil. The shrimp and crab were excellent. The mussels, however, were not good in terms of taste or smell. We asked, and they told us that unfortunately, mussels are like this during this season. Overall, we left satisfied.
Murat K — Google review
The service was excellent, and the food was fresh. The restaurant had a rustic charm, though the noise level felt a bit high for the number of people there. The oysters were a highlight, super fresh, juicy, and briny. The sea bass was cooked well, but the skin could’ve been crispier, and the sauce didn’t quite enhance the dish. On the plus side, the samphire was a great touch, reminding me of sea beans. Unfortunately, I don’t remember seeing any lobster in the dish. (I should’ve ordered the lobster gratin, I saw it on someone else’s table and it looked wonderful. The description did not do it justice and it was not what I thought it would be.) The whole sea bream was flavorful and perfectly roasted, but there were a lot of bones, and I couldn’t taste the shrimp butter at all. I wasn’t a fan of the salt and chili squid, it wasn’t as crispy as I expected, and honestly, if I hadn’t been told it was squid, I wouldn’t have guessed. The mussels were tasty but tiny, which meant there wasn’t much of that rich jus left to savor. I guess I’m just more used to larger mussels. All in all, it was a solid meal, but there wasn’t that "wow" factor I was hoping for.
Catherine Y — Google review
In future, probably give this one a miss if you’re a seafood lover. Date night! Shared some very sandy and crunchy oysters to start, but the mussels were tasty and made up for it. I had to send my main back due the sheer amount of oil that was pooling on the top of the risotto, and my partners fish was OK at best and accompanied by very bland baby potatoes and tomatoes. The service was good, the waiter immediately took my risotto to the kitchen after I mentioned about the oil, I was too full for a replacement so they gave me 50% off the dish (I ate all 5 scallops from the top in fairness). They also gave us a super tasty free dessert!
Rhi B — Google review
The services were excellent, and all the staff members were kind and attentive. The food was fantastic and fresh, and even the dessert was delicious. However, one thing to note was that they concluded the total price with a service charge for the first contact, which felt a bit like a pressure tactic.

Unpretentious local seafood place in Belfast. As local as you can get. I barely see any foreigners except myself. I was recommended to try this place by the locals.. I went there alone and the staff and patrons were quite nice to me. Introducing me some nice small portions to try out. I ordered half a dozen of these local oysters. I heard they came from a place 30 minutes away. Amazing! Really fresh and tasty. Even ate some without the mignonette. Could have ate another 6! I tried the Crabs claws which are difficult to eat but once you get to the meat - Heavenly! Good buttery sauce to soak up the bread. Took me a while to get to the crab Meat. Very meaty and fresh crab! For my 'mains', i did small portion of the mussels. Very good also, fresh and easy to eat. The cream wine, shallot sauce! I could drink them all but it goes well with bread. Cleared up the mussels as you can see from my photos. Ate everything! I did have a local gin to wash these dishes down. Gunpowder Gin with tonic and lime. Have look at my photos. I will come by again for the other dishes in 2 months time! Thank you for the hospitality!

Fabulous the food is superb and the service was really good went for my Mam's birthday and the staff suprised her with a brownie lovely touch to a great night out. The oyster and bloody mary was unreal. Need to book as it gets very busy.
Vicky T — Google review
Really good menu and beverage list, wines were well chosen and complement the food. The oysters were 10/10 as was the appetizer. The main was under seasoned but flavorful. Service was scattered at best, they did have multiple large tables all at the same time.Overall the floor seemed disorganized with no one directing. Would definitely visit again as the food and beverage are very very good. If they organized their service they would be 5 stars all around.

The Morning Star Bar & Restaurant is a charming 19th-century alehouse tucked away in Belfast's city center. This historic establishment, dating back to at least 1810, features a traditional bar with an original mahogany counter and terrazzo floor. Upstairs, the restaurant offers an eclectic menu curated by owner Corrine McAlister, including unique dishes like kangaroo and crocodile steaks alongside more traditional fare.
Recommended to us by locals for its quality beef offering and value. We were impressed by the number of awards received too. Our meals were delicious. The sharing t-bone platter was a delight, thoroughly enjoyable. Children's size joint of the day is a winner too.

Great restaurant and pub in the center of Belfast. The service from the bartender upstairs was polite and very professional throughout our visit. The food was done to perfection. Absolutely no complaints. Love visiting this place for lunch when im over.

Upstairs from the main bar is a very well decorated restaurant. The servers are very polite and attentive. We had the beef roast and shared some scallops and both were delicious. Good portion sizes. Would reccomend

Great atmosphere and delicious food in a lovely setting. Big shoutout to Adam, who did an absolutely stellar job — friendly, attentive, and really lifted the whole experience. Thanks also to Lisa, who clearly wasn’t having the best day but still gave solid service and kept things running smoothly. Credit where it’s due! All up, a good spot with quality food and genuine service — worth a visit if you’re in Derry.

Braised beef cheek was probably the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time, meal was faultless, staff lovely. Guinness excellent (not a short pour, I took a sip!) I went late on a Sunday night so it was quieter. Absolute gem of a place, will be back.
Emma A — Google review
Quite a disappointment. We ordered a lot of meat, but about half of it came burnt. The beef cheek was delicious, and one of the fillet steaks was good. However, the sirloin steak, which we asked for medium, was very well done — probably because it was thin and served on a hot skillet, so it kept cooking on the way. The lamb chops were completely burnt. At the beginning, we asked for the dessert menu but were told it would be offered at the end of the meal. In the end, no one brought it — though by that point, we didn’t really want it anymore.

The atmosphere was really lovely and nostalgic, the staff were super friendly and accommodating and the food was absolutely delicious plus I reccomend a maiden mule as a drink, one of the nicest drinks I’ve ever had!

This eatery serves classic dishes prepared to the highest standard, including iconic seafood chowder, delicious burgers, and top-quality fish and chips. In addition to traditional pub fare, they also offer a varied vegan menu and an extensive drinks selection featuring cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits.
It was my first time at The Cloth Ear, and I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive from the start. The menu offered a good mix of comfort food and local dishes. My burger was extremely good, full of flavor, and nicely presented. Drinks were well-made, and the service stayed consistent throughout. A great spot for a relaxed meal and good conversation. I’d go again.

Caught up with some former work colleagues for dinner and drinks. Had a very pleasant waiter called Richard. I chose the Wagyu Beef Burger. This was quite charred on the outside. I ate it as I was hungry but 21 pounds is a lot for a burger. Wine is pricey. Place was busy and they were understaffed but managing service well. Moved to another table in the bar area when our time was up which was much appreciated.
C82 — Google review
This place was recommended on the off menu podcast so as I’d visited Belfast with work, I decided to take a visit here. I had the Raspberry and white chocolate crème brûlée and it was incredible. The restaurant is also very cosy and I’d definitely come back here for something other than dessert!

This place had the best meal we ate in Belfast. The beef and ale pie served with gravy and mash. It was delectable! Atmosphere cozy.

Highly recommend it if you wanna do a nice meal one of the nights in Belfast. We personally found that service was taking a while in terms of staff, bringing us a check and grabbing our orders but other than that, food and atmosphere was wonderful!😁 Will def go again!

Nestled in Belfast’s vibrant heart, The Cloth Ear is a pub that doesn’t just serve food and drinks—it delivers a downright love letter to your senses. The menu is a culinary hug, with dishes so delectable they could make a stoic Ulster fry weep with joy. The lamb stew tastes like it was crafted by angels moonlighting as chefs, every bite is a revelation. The service? Unmatched doesn’t even cover it—think of the staff as your new best mates who somehow anticipate your every need with a wink and a smile. Whether you’re sipping a pint or savoring their sticky toffee pudding, The Cloth Ear wraps you in warmth and wit, making you wonder why you’d ever dine anywhere else. Five stars, and I’m already plotting my return.

Nice looking place and we got a good table. Good service. The chicken curry was nice, it wasn't labelled as a Korma, but that's what it was. But the steak and Ale pie was very dry and quite disappointing. I just think this place serves fairly average but expensive pub food. But in a upmarket setting.
K Q — Google review
Lovely place, very good atmosphere and nice service. I was expecting a piece of meat for the lamb, it was good, very soft and tender but nothing really special. The chicken was very good though, nice crisp outside and good sweet aftertaste. We also got the soup of the day, even though it was nice, the bread was slightly burnt.

We chose Horatio todds to provide drinks service at our wedding and couldn’t have been happier with the service from start to finish! Chris was so amazing at helping us decide what we needed and what works best. Nothing was too much trouble and they provided exactly what we asked for. The staff were amazing! They were so friendly, helpful and professional. There was an incident when one of the guests took ill and they were amazing at helping with this and we are so thankful for their help. They really helped create the relaxed atmosphere atmosphere we were looking for and all our guests were very happy with the service. We didn’t have to worry about anything throughout the day from the drinks reception into the night with the evening reception. We couldn’t recommend Horatio Todd’s enough for anyone planning a wedding event!

Nicest chicken burger I’ve ever had. Went with friends for lunch who ordered small plates and they were great sizes. The atmosphere was great with great music playing. I’ll definitely be back.
Shay W — Google review
The food and portions were great, very tasty, well presented, and hot. Unfortunately, the service let the whole event down. There were a number of disabled people at the table, including myself, the staff wouldn't serve drinks to the table without putting it on the whole bill and advised that if anyone wanted a drink they would have to go to the bar. It was busy, yes, but that was a bit much when they were serving other tables drinks. I noticed some of the staff gave the impression that they would rather be somewhere else. Despite the service, the company was good and we all enjoyed the food.

The male member of staff who (eventually...) served me, was so rude! Rest of the staff were lovely, door staff great, 2 piece band very good. However, that member of staff has led me to decide not to go back.

Irish restaurant
Restaurant
Molly's Yard is a charming restaurant located in a converted Victorian stable block near Queens University. The restaurant offers modern Irish cuisine and has a bistro and dinner menu throughout the week. The bistro menu features affordable yet well-executed dishes such as Irish stew and fresh linguine with basil cream sauce. Additionally, there are snackier options available, including homemade soup paired with the kitchen's own chocolate stout wheaten bread.
Some of the best food I’ve ever had, truly. I got the salmon/smoked haddock special, my fiancé got the lamb burger, and we split a seafood chowder to start. The seafood chowder had ENORMOUS chunks of fresh, delicious salmon. The wine list is pretty good for Ireland and features Romanian wine in particular. Loved every bite!

This is my third visit to Molly's Yard. It is always consistently excellent. The menu is always interesting and thoughtfully designed. The food is consistently excellent. Perfectly prepared. I know that Molly's Yard is a Bistro but the quality of the food, I feel, rivals most fine dining restaurants in Belfast. Staff were friendly, helpful and the whole experience was perfect. This is my new favourite restaurant in Belfast.

Was so excited to come here on my trip to Belfast and it did not disappoint. Great vegetarian options, I had one of the specials, the peanut butter and chickpea fritter with quinoa which was seriously one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. My husband got the burger which he also loved. We split the fried cheese at the start, which was perfect and gooey with great sauce compliments to add a hit of flavor. The cocktails were delightful, I got the Mollys Garden which was a gin and elderflower drink. It was light and crisp, perfect for dinner. Everything was reasonably priced, service was friendly, quick and we loved every second of our dinner here. We also went for the dessert which almost every table got (which no surprise it was great), the raspberry crumble with vegan raspberry sherbet which was the perfect cap on our meal, tart, not too sweet, and so so tasty. We sat inside but there’s also a lovely area outdoors to dine at if you’d like!

This place is ab absolutely gorgeous hidden gem. Popped in as spotted it whike heading to the airport and only just made my flight as a result but so glad I did. Lovely, fresh local food, the service from the French gent that served me was exceptional and the setting was just gorgeous. Hidden down a tiny alley, I ate in the courtyard which is very cute and the restaurant inside is lovely and intimate. Wish I'd had time to try more off the seasonal menu but will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a lovely end to my trip.

Julian S — Google review
I'm surprised by all the positive reviews about the service here. The food was decent, but our server seemed uninterested at best. We arrived around 6pm, before the 7pm rush and the staff seemed more interested in socialising with each other than attending to our table. I don't blame them as I'm sure they knew they had a busy night ahead of them, but come on. There were some items on the menu that sounded vegetarian but didn't have the vegetarian symbol and when we asked our server about it she pointed out the symbol like we were a bit daft. When we clarified that we were asking about a specific dish without the symbol she kind of shrugged and said, "Oh, yeah, it's vegetarian." There was a second server who actually did check in with us once even though I don't think we were her table, which was nice. We had to flag someone down for the dessert menu, then we had to flag someone down for the bill, *then* we had to flag someone down to pay the bill. To be clear, this wasn't us being horribly impatient. We were fine with taking our time, the waits just got to be silly. We were on the bottom floor so we were in direct eyesight the entire time. I'd like to think we were friendly and respectful from start to end, so I'm not really sure what was going on.

Couldn't recommend this place more, the staff were so friendly. Went for a girls bunch day and we will 100% making this a regular stop. The music was brilliant, quick service, your never sitting with a empty glass. The food was delicious! Cant say a bad thing about this place. Love love love!

Nice rooftop bar but the worst toilets I’ve ever seen, it looks like they haven’t been cleaned in weeks. There are glasses covered in mould and mess all over the floor. We told the bar staff multiple times but they didn’t do anything in the time we were there.
Katie E — Google review
Very poor experience here and would not recommend. A group of 24 of us went here for a Hen party and we had booked it well in advance. When we arrived the place was empty with only two staff working. We had to wait over 45 mins for a drink and over an hour for food and we were the only customers in the place. The tables weren’t prepared, we weren’t provided with cutlery and had to ask numerous times. Most ppl started eating with their hands because it took so long for cutlery. We were provided with wooden disposable cutlery when it eventually arrived from somewhere. The food was lukewarm and inedible. No toilet paper too in any of the female stalls.
Rachel H — Google review
Went here for the first time last night, what can I say…. Shocking service, there was no system for taking orders at the bar meaning others were being served ahead. After 25 minutes at the bar waiting I finally got my mojito. Best way to describe it was a lime cordial with a bit of chopped up mint in it. Not worth the wait and not worth the price. Won’t be back.
Kim J — Google review
From the beginning this experience was average. We arrived, got our table and to be fair to the waitress (never got her name) the woman from Scotland. She looked after us fairly well, let us substitute the small selection of drinks and take Guinness. We had ordered 2 fish and 4 meats. Food came 15 minutes before the bottomless brunch ended. Meal seemed okay, we ate anyway. About 15 minutes after one of our group had started to feel sick, attempted to be sick nothing came up. When back at the table same feeling again! Finally managed to vomit and after vomited proceeded to say they could not stand nor see! Managed to make it back to the hotel and for the next hour proceeded to vomit the lining of their stomach out. Not able to sit stand or move party was immobile and very sick. I then rang the establishment and they accused us of Leaving our drinks! When at this place there was always at least 2 people at the table. I suggested it may have been a staff member or some sort of food poisoning and staff member on the phone told me food poisoning would not have taken affect yet and they are not held responsible! Overall this experience was very very shocking. Staff were nothing to complain about, I appreciate there help. Apart from the male that answered the mobile. Atmosphere was great. Food and drink - if I could give a minus I would! This is a disgrace! A member of our party was bed bound for the rest of the night due to this and the employment had the audacity to accuse us of leaving drinks unattended! Will not be back to this establishment, I do not recommend anyone else to attend!

If not could leave zero stars I would. Ordered a cocktail tree for £55 nothing arrived. Was told three times it would be arriving nothing appeared (this was over one hour of waiting) had to threaten police to receive refund. Avoid this place like the plague
Michelle — Google review
First look online this place looks brillaint. The decor is beautiful and matches the photos online although when I was told via the website I had to book a table online I would be given my deposit money back (which I was not) It claimed at the end you would receive your money back off my bill so I was assuming it was a bar tab situation considering I had to set down the deposit. When we arrived no one was there to actually seat us we had to attend to the bar and ask after waiting a long while behind people at the bar and waiting at the “check in desk”. It was bar service and not a tab which personally confused me considering how my deposit was holding a “table” on the rooftop I never received, we had to wait indoors until a table was free outside and find it ourselves. The drinks were lovely made perfectly although outside the music from indoors was overpowering it was genuinely hard to hold a conversation with my peer after near enough every sentence we were asking each other what we said as it was too loud to hear each other. It’s nice you can smoke out on the rooftop and drink which in many places now it’s not aloud so it is great that you can although i wouldn’t return due to deposit not being returned for a table we didn’t receive and not being able to hear each other.

My sister and I popped into 'The National' for a late breakfast before heading to Belfast Castle. We very much enjoyed our refreshing strawberry lemonades and the bunch baps we had were delicious. The server we had was friendly and efficient and they didn't mind when we wanted to move to the Garden as it was such a sunny day. The inside is decorated well, but the garden was lovely to sit in and enjoy our food. I would definitely come back as I very much enjoyed my time there. Might pop in later for a drink to see what it's like in the evening.

After an early morning arrival in Belfast for an evening work event, I headed to The National for brunch and to catch up on some work, and I'm so glad I did. Their Bacon Naan, with chilli fried eggs and tomato chutney was outstanding! All the other dishes I saw coming out from the kitchen also looked dynamite - wish I had been staying in Belfast for longer to try more. Great flat white coffees as well, and the service was top notch - friendly, welcoming and always on hand to keep water topped up or grab you any other drinks. A must visits for brunch or lunch in Belfast - I'll definitely be back!

The process of booking was really straightforward and there was a great choice of food options even for a larger group and a great kids menu too for our smaller guests. We were extremely well looked after from start to finish, the food was excellent and the service quick and efficient. The feedback from our guests was exactly the same. They were thoroughly impressed and really enjoyed themselves. Thanks again for everything. You really made our day special.

While looking for a dessert place on Google maps, we found this place and ordered a few desserts. The desserts we tried were tasty and can be said to be good or above average. There was a minor service error regarding the americano we ordered, but it would be quite appropriate to say that the drinks were average. We saw only one employee regarding the service and he seemed really tired and trying very hard. There seems to be a lack of personnel. We think that the interior decoration is very successful in terms of atmosphere. It may be a little difficult to say that they are very good in terms of price and performance, but it is a place that can be experienced.

Best stack of fries ever and beer on draft! Music was chill and downtempo and the lighting creates a calm and sexy ambience. Highly recommend

Great little place adjacent to the 1852 hotel. The hotel is self check in and doesn't have a front desk. The folks at Town Square held onto my luggage after check out until I was ready to leave town. Super friendly staff, and the food was good.

Tried the sweet chili and girl dinner stack! Belfast version of our Canadian poutine! I have to admit, it was quite good! Lots of savoury chicken! Dressing was good! Guinness tastes way better here than back home too! Staff was extremely courteous.

Came here early in the morning for some breakfast, had a sausage and egg bap with a breakfast tea while my girlfriend had a Vegan Bap and a 7up. Tea came piping hot in a nice ceramic tea pot, but the 7up turned out to be a sprite which for us was completely fine. The only problem we had was that there seemed to be an issue in the kitchen that led to our food being delayed but it seemed like a one off issue. When the food did come it was hot and nicely presented, tasted fantastic. They even refunded us our drinks for the delay in food! Total order before the refund was £24.61 (includings a 15% tip). Staff was nice and the place was pleasantly layed out and clean. I would highly recommend coming to check this place out! They also do a multitude of alcoholic beverages but it was too early for us to have any of those.

This is a really good bar, seems to always be very busy. Good range of drinks, only feedback I'd provide is to serve wine in lower quantities ie. 125ml - I thought this was mandatory but they don't seem to provide it as a choice here.

Irish pub
Kelly's Cellars is a historic pub in Belfast, dating back to 1720. It holds a significant place in Irish history as it was a meeting place for the United Irishmen during the 1798 rebellion. The pub has retained its traditional charm with small tables and stools, worn bar, and bric-a-brac hanging from the vaulted ceiling. Visitors can enjoy traditional music by an open fire on select evenings or relax in the large covered street beer garden.
Omg. This was such a lovely place to visit. Wish I could have stayed longer. The place has been here since 1720. That is a lot of stores being told and memories being shared between people. Friendly attentive service that made sure everyone was hydrated throughout the evening. Also live music that was really good. What a Great pub. If in Belfast - this is a MUST VISIT!

Food was great! Fairly quiet as we were upstairs. Lots of interesting photos and murals on the walls. I had Cajun chicken Burger. Was very nice though felt flavour could have been a bit stronger so asked for some pepper corn gravy. Yum
Andrefan G — Google review
We initially went to the pub second but in order to get food you need to go upstairs. I had the spicy chicken burger and thought it was pretty good. Juicy chicken breast with fries. The restaurant got quite busy and only had 2 servers on. The other food I saw looked quite good. It's worth a try if you're in the area.
Nicole P — Google review
What a lovely place this is went for a walk and found this delightful place will delightful be returning. Both had the fish and chips it was so fresh. And looking at what others had ordered there food looked delicious too. We also had the Guinness bread and butter 😋
Elaine C — Google review
Superb, traditional and bustling pub with music downstairs, lovely restaurant upstairs. Had the Irish stew, really decent and hearty although portion not massive for the money but you pay for the central location and with a side or starter would have been fine. Ordered and had the food in less than 5mins as they have it on the go. Lots on the menu, was served by the lovely Roisin who was so friendly and helpful. It was so good I came back the next day as she'd recommended the ham and champ but sadly missed out as didn't realise they close the kitchen just after 8. I gather the pub is the oldest in town, it's got bags of character and was the prettiest I visited in Belfast.
Andy S — Google review
Lovely little upstairs restaurant to the main pub down below. It was quiet and had traditoinal music on while we ate. Fish and chips were nice and crunchy with thin batter and tender fish, and the pour of Guinness was excellent
Devin G — Google review
Really really nice pub, it's over 300 years old so when you step inside it has a very special atmosphere, the staff are very friendly, the bar area was fairly busy but we got drinks quickly, the bar area tends not to get busy with people having around as there isn't much room, most people stand outside in the beer garden, over all I would recommend a visit if you're out and about, we didn't have food so can't comment ⭐⭐⭐
Jason R — Google review
Been looking forward to trying this place out. First impressions great. Staff seemed bothered to take your drink order unfortunately. All good. Ordered the famous stew and it wasn’t anything like advertised. Basically just flavourless potato mash. I’d say equivalent to baby food. Really wanted to make this place a regular spot for me but felt meh. You can see a picture of the Irish stew vs what I got. Completely different. Staff seemed burnt out. Wouldn’t recommend this place unless you want to feel like you’re bothering the staff anytime you order something.

My wife and I dropped in here not knowing what to expect but we were VERY impressed! The atmosphere was great, the food selection was good and the pints kept coming!! What stood out the most was the friendly, informative service we received from our server, Dillon! Making our first trip to Belfast even better!

I visited here on a recommendation, and I'm glad I did. The service is excellent. Great customer service. The food is tasty. The atmosphere is lively, to say the least, especially when there is a football game on, be prepared to be croaky the next day after having to shout if you wanted conversation.

Hit the bar on a Monday so not particularly busy, the server was quite surly, not much to write home about I’m afraid! The beer selection was looking good but the AC was blowing so cold I upped and left pronto! Another night, a bit of music, happy staff, could be a winner! Not to be last night.

GREAT FOOD FOR A PUB! Really upmarket Northern Irish pub (that looks more like an American-style Saloon) - the atmosphere was good and it was a pleasant place to get some food and drink. Ordered some buttermilk wings and a Guinness and the service was really quick. Can't complain about the portion sizes either, they're massive. Only downside is that it's a bit pricey compared to other places around here, but other than that - you get what you pay for, especially on the food. Definitely worth checking out one evening!

Easily one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had. 10/10. Everything was delicious. Unfortunately, the gent behind the bar really let this place down with his bad attitude—it set a negative tone the moment we walked in. Whites Tavern, also known as Whites Tavern & The Oyster Rooms, is a historic 17th-century pub located in Belfast. It holds the distinction of being the oldest tavern in the city, with a rich history dating back to 1630. Following a recent renovation, this cultural landmark has been revitalized and now attracts both locals and tourists who come to enjoy perfectly poured Guinness and freshly caught seafood.
Place got busy and was shorthanded. Good beer selection. Menu was really good especially the burger. I can see that this place can’t get busy. It would appear that there is the old pub, the beer hall, and an outdoor area of some sort.

Called in for a beer and a bite after arriving in town and stayed for a couple of hours. The beers were good and the 3 for £16 small plates that we had really hit the spot. We had cod bites, chicken strips and caesar fries and all were delicious. We also returned for a beer and a burger a couple of days later before heading to the airport. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Richard W — Google review
Found the place by chance and given the reputation of a 1630 pub we decided to make the experience ours. Unfortunately the Stew was dry and cold, just a few meat pieces, vegetables bland and tasteless, the steak sambo’s meat (sandwich) was a little hard to take a clean bite without using the knife and no salt, but the chips were incredible! our server was attentive and friendly, a coke (mini with a tag of a two liter bottle) a Guinness beer for the total of £60 it’s to expect a lot more.

Checked twice before coming that the gluten free options were safe for coeliacs and I was assured that they are. When I asked at the restaurant it turned out everything that was marked gf is cooked in the same fryer as products containing gluten. Therefore, nothing marked as gluten free was actually safe to eat. Had to get plain chicken and mash in the end which was nice but I would not go back.

The Belfast Empire Music Hall, affectionately known as The Empire, is a multi-level venue featuring bars and live music spanning various genres like blues, rock, jazz, and traditional Irish acts. With a capacity of nearly 500 enthusiastic fans, it hosts mid-level touring acts on the brink of stardom along with cover bands and local talents. Situated on Botanic Avenue near the campus, this former church-turned-music hall also hosts comedy nights such as The Empire Laughs Back.
I was back in the Empire for the first time in over twenty years and what a nostalgia trip it was! I did not realise that they served food now and I must admit that I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of it. We had fish and chips, the Empire Burger and the Mexican Chilli Chicken burger, all with generous portions of chips or wedges. We were all very impressed. I had the chicken burger and it was so tasty! As we ate, we were entertained by the talented Jackie Rainy. Her acoustic set was just perfect and not loud which meant we could still have a conversation and enjoy the music at the same time. Overall we had a great time in the Empire and we would be very keen to return soon and do it all again!

Great little venue. We stopped in here to see a comedy show. Door staff were all very friendly and we were admitted quickly. Limited space for seating so ideally arrive early if you want a good spot. Wow!! , booked for one night and ended up staying for 2. Also booked to go again in a few months. This hotel is our favourite that we have stayed at in northern Ireland. Impeccably clean. Comfy beds. Simply the best wine and spirits outlet I’ve ever been to! Brilliant range. Great prices. Colin and Calvin are extremely knowledgable, enthusiastic and great craic. I only realised just how good yesterday! I’ve got serious acid reflux which becomes far far worse when I drink wine. I had to give it up completely which was awful. I asked Colin for a low acid wine selection. He was painstaking in finding me wines I would enjoy without damage. AND it worked! Months later I went back in and the guys asked me how my reflux was going AND remembered which wines they’d recommended to me! Now that’s what I call outstanding!

One of the best live venues in Belfast. It's as old as time itself. I've seen comedy gigs, metal nights, drum n bass, house music, hard techno. There's always something on upstairs. Downstairs there's a youthful, alternative atmosphere and it's a great place for a few beers during the day. The upstairs venue goes into the wee hours of the night. Used to love this pub. Took my girlfriend there for some food. Ordered Hudson burger with BBQ pork and my other half had cajun burger. Beef pate was dry, bap was dry, no sauce, except dry BBQ pulled pork, no salad except hugly cut single piece of tomato. I'm not much of a complainer however in situations where I'm left still hungry and just ripped of a 10er I'm not happy, so I've called a waitress over that done not much more than trying to prove me that the beef pate isn't dry, it's only dry because "it's been sitting for a while now" or "there isn't a sauce because theres BBQ pork" aye, there is but it's dry. "and the salad isn't inside the burger but it's on the side" took ages to finally get to speak to the menager who previously was unable to talk to us. After coming over, she apologised, refund my meal and I'm still hungry as I don't want to face disappointment again and a future battle for decent pub food.

I've only been here twice but have had nothing but a fantastic experience from being greated but the friendly door staff to the superb food. Our waitress who we've had the both times is an absolute treasure, so pleasant to be round and really seems to love her job. Great selection of beers and some of best chicken wings I've ever had... All very keenly priced

Had lunch yesterday with my husband.. food amazing as always and good value. Unfortunately the waitress was too involved and focused on our conversation and repeatedly commented on it. Therfore made our lunch awkward. We still tipped generously and felt it wasn't apricots. ... shame

Cocktail bar
Designed with a retro-chic vibe, the Bear and the Doll offers Clarksville pup happy hour specials as well as craft beers on tap. With a great selection of cocktails, the bar is perfect for any occasion.
A bar with a classy and metropolitan vibe, very moody lighting, arty decor, ideal for a quiet drink or a night out with friends. It reminds me of the bar in the Hotel Cortez in American Horror Story. Seems like an up and coming spot.

A 'hidden' gem, in between the Sunflower and Mavericks, it's got plenty of options for drinks that does put the nearby bars to shame. Great ambiance, with the main area having huge booths for groups of friends to hang out together, as well as other books and crannies to listen to the music and chat. In the front is a quieter area that is great for more private get togethers, or a respite from the music in the main section if you need. Looking forward to seeing it becoming popular with the locals and providing another worthy stop on anyone's visit to Cathedral Quarter

Awesome place to grab a drink. The guys at the table explain u about the drink too. We had a great time.

Was ok a bit disappointing the music, and lots of young students. Staff a bit quiet don't speak much. Atmosphere a bit weird and toilets not very clean. A bit eccentric if you like that kind of thing. Great selection of craft beer banana beer nice. Worth trying. Suppose I'll be back, I need to be a bit tipsy though. 😊🤣😂

New bar. Good selection of cocktails, good atmosphere

Had not heard of this bar when we visited. It was quiet for how busy Belfast was, but they had a great selection of drinks, regular live music and it has a lovely atmosphere. I will be back!
Jonathan P — Google review
I don't drink so I thought it wasn't going to be good, but it's brilliant! The layout and the decor are beautiful along with the atmosphere, the customer service is brilliant too. The toilets are a bit confusing though
