The Wine Glass Stellenbosch is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts, offering an extensive selection of renowned wines from the region's wineries. The restaurant provides a charming atmosphere with stunning vineyard views and cosy outdoor patios, allowing guests to savor delectable food while enjoying world-class wines. Additionally, The Wine Glass stands out by offering exclusive horizontal wine flights that showcase the Stellenbosch wine region, providing a unique tasting experience for visitors.
Our second time at the Wine Glass, and we were not disappointed. The food is well prepared and served. And of course very tasty. The staff and service is very good and friendly. Thank you Claudia for looking so well after us. The selection of wine is so big.

Fantastic Service! And Great Food! I do wish the food menu had a little more variety. But I’ll let it slide considering the establishment is called “The Wine Glass” and not “The Glass Plate” haha! Great aesthetics and a lovely variety of wines from across the Republic. Keep Up The Good Work!
Lala M — Google review
Brilliant concept. The most superb menu of wine by the glass. They also have food but we weren’t eating. Restaurant looks lovely though but we sat on the pavement enjoying the Stellenbosch ambience. They also have a great wine shop. Everyone is so friendly.

Even though the food is already outstanding, it’s really the staff that takes everything to the next level. So much warmth, attention and genuine care – you feel welcome from the very first moment (special thanks to Delovia 🥰). The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, the design tasteful and full of little loving details without ever feeling pretentious. It’s exactly what you hope to find in South Africa: fantastic food, true hospitality and an experience that goes far beyond an ordinary restaurant. More than 100% – absolutely recommended!

My boyfriend and I came here yesterday and the food was soooo tasty! We had the Linefish Oriental which I highly recommend. Our waitress was the best! She was attentive and gave us recommendations.
Janet C — Google review
My partner and I had a great experience at wine glass Stellenbosch, the food is really great as well the variety of both surf and turf. The staff is so attentive and pleasant, that extra touch, amazing. Looking forward to the next visit. P.S some nice background music would be appreciated especially if dining alone or on a first date. A special thank you goes to Anthea our waitress and Brad the manager. Till next time.

We had dinner at The Wine and enjoyed their new winter menu. My wife had the oriental catch of the day and i had the Beef ragu. Both meals was really a good portion and hearty wintery dish. We had a table close to the fireplace and a lovely waiter that was very attentive.
Llewellyn N — Google review
We had two flights of wine, but sadly the measures provided were very small, much less than a normal tasting measure. Very disappointing. The food was good, although the steak au poivre was a bit heavy on the pepper and with meagre sizes of wine sample, the pepper simply overpowered all of the quality wines. At the same time we were able to witness other diners with seemingly normal sized glasses. A bottle of wine serves 6 x 125ml glasses or 12 x 62.5 glasses, we simply did not have enough wine to go with the food. Added to which the service was not good. The waiter was particularly slow, so slow in fact that the kitchen had closed before we could order dessert. Lastly, a small detail, but important. The table size was too small to cope with a tasting and a meal at the same time. We had eaten here before and were keen to return, I’m not sure that we will be as keen to return in future.

Restaurant
Le Grand Domaine Enoteca, located on the bustling Church Street in Stellenbosch, is a chic and vibrant wine bar showcasing handcrafted premium wines such as The Pledge and internationally awarded Stellenview Wines. This opulent venue serves as a wine emporium, tasting venue, and bistro offering an array of regional wines for side-by-side tastings.
What a beautiful place this is, spacious and yet very intimate. The staff was welcoming with warm smiles, the atmosphere was magnificent, compliments to the chef because his food was out of this world. The waiter was kind enough to take us through what we wanted, the ambiance was just relaxed and wonderful. Prices were reasonable. We enjoyed ourselves, there was also a fire that warmed the place as it was a rainy day. Wow I’m definitely going back 👌🏽

One of the most amazing restaurants in Stellenbosch! From the atmosphere to the food and wine - all I can say is WOW! We were 16 guests and the service was amazing, Jean and his team truly went above and beyond. Thank you so much for an unbelievably special dinner!

Chose to eat here on our last night in Stellenbosch. Fabulous food, service and of course wine. Loved it.
Michael S — Google review
I had a great evening here! Definitely is the best spot for wine in Stellenbosch. I have gone through many different wine bars but the service here was astounding, the server, Lauren, was very attentive and brought a very positive energy to her service. The head waiter Josua also was very attentive and insured a good experience. The food was also out of this world and paired excellently with the wine. I am so glad I choose to experience this on a Wednesday aswell that offered great musical entertainment. I will definitely be returning. For more of the great wine and the excellent food. I can only say that this Enoteca has offered a service that has gained a repeating customer.
David T — Google review
The location / venue is fabulous. We had a lovely evening. Helpful staff, who were mostly attentive. I found the food to be a bit ‘meh’, - we had small plates and platters - the dips somewhat tasteless, the fries didn’t live up to the menu description and our lavash bread was over toasted. But would I go back for another try - yes!
Kim D — Google review
Ian Botha, the manager on duty was very engaging and made us feel right at home. The wine and pickings were absolutely spectacular. We were in intrigued by the restaurants name/s and Ian broke it down in such a way it made sense. I do encourage anyone to try this restaurant!

Such a lovely restaurant. We felt so welcome and the wine and food recommendations were on point. Joshua was so amazing. Thank you for a very relaxing dinner after a long day. Will definitely come back for a tasting with my friends. Keep up the quality service and food ✨ The wine was so delicious 😋

Wine bar
Nestled on Church Street, the Stellenbosch Wine Bar is a delightful spot that embodies the essence of wine culture in the region. This casual venue is dedicated to showcasing an impressive selection from the Stellenbosch Collection, featuring renowned brands like Stellenbosch Reserve and Rust en Vrede. It's not just about sipping fine wines; guests can indulge in a Mediterranean-inspired dining experience with shared plates that encourage conviviality.
Great wine selection that's obvious, but the small food menu is not to be missed. The steak sirloin was delicious and that tomato salad that comes with, is super tasty. The calamari was also good. Service was good but can be a bit slow so if busy just be patient, all worth it.
Christopher G — Google review
We visited Stellenbosch wine bar and requested to be added to the waiting list for outdoor seating since all tables outside were occupied. We were told there was only one person ahead of us, so we decided to wait outside instead of sitting indoors, which felt stuffy. Later, the waiter informed us that the manager had decided we wouldn’t be considered “customers” unless we sat indoors. This meant that even though we were on the waiting list, anyone sitting inside could bypass us and take an outdoor table if they wanted to move. When we raised this issue, the waiter admitted it was unfair but said it was the manager’s decision. The manager, Kaelin, came out and rudely insisted that the rule was “logical” and that we simply didn’t understand. She went further by dismissively saying, “If you don’t like it don’t come here, welcome to South Africa,” displaying a shocking lack of professionalism and hospitality. It’s unfortunate that such a lovely place is ruined by such an unprofessional and disrespectful manager like her. Looking at their Google ratings, it’s no surprise they are lower than expected. With a manager like Kaelin even a 4.3 rating seems generous. Avoid this place if you value good service.
Ozzy — Google review
We recently visited The Wine Bar, and I was left dumbfounded by the lack of hospitality and the rudeness of the staff, particularly the manager, Kaelin. Upon arrival, we noticed the outdoor tables were fully booked, so we politely asked if we could wait for one to become available. Instead of a warm or accommodating response, we were informed that if we didn’t sit inside first, we would lose our spot in line for an outdoor table. This felt unreasonable. When we questioned the policy, the manager’s response was nothing short of dismissive—she told us if we didn’t like it, we should find another place to dine. And, to top it off, her sarcastic remark, “Welcome to South Africa,” made me embarrassed to be South African. We ultimately decided not to dine here, but it’s concerning to think that this is how customers are being treated.
Susanna B — Google review
I honestly think this could be the best wine bar in my world. The wine choices are really good and they offer rust en Vrede as well as donkies baai wine estates. Amongst others. The service is impeccable, such kind staff. The food is also good. The sirloin tastes amazing and the fillet is tasty too. The need smaller tomato’s next to the sirloin though, baby ones would do. Also added note the place is not expensive but also not cheap. The location and atmosphere is 5 stars.
Adrian V — Google review
An exceptional experience for anyone looking for an afternoon bottle of wine accompanied by snacks. The waitresses are super friendly, make great recommendations and keep good conversation. We had the Afrikaans bottle of wine, with Salmon and a fried risotto croquet. Was lovely and we'll priced.

I went to Stellenbosch Wine Bar just by chance. Food was excellent, good choice of wine and MCC bubbles and service couldn’t be better (mostly students as waiters, they all seemed to enjoy their job and were super attentive). Prices are totally reasonable by comparison with other places. I had the hot goat cheese on hot tomatoes, tagliata with butternut purée and roasted nuts, everything absolutely delicious.

The bar features a cozy ambiance with comfortable reclaimed armchairs and a terrace for outdoor seating. Visitors can enjoy wine-friendly seasonal nibbles and sharing plates while admiring the stunning light installation made from old Chardonnay vines hanging from the ceiling.
Bartinney is a nice wine & champagne bar for both wine and MMC (South African version of Champagne) lovers. Nestled at the edge of the center of Stellenbosch, this bar exudes a charming blend of rustic elegance and contemporary flair. Their selection of wines is simple but effective. The knowledgeable staff enhance the experience. While the options are limited, the quality and variety are more than enough to satisfy. The cozy ambiance, especially the nicely terrace, makes it a perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon.

Rustic and cute looking wine bar. Love the wooden windows and street side seating but on a raised wooden veranda. Staff were friendly and helpful. The cab sav was nice but a bit dry for my taste. Good quality olives. A very nice place to enjoy a wine.
Charlie T — Google review
Great for a drink (or two) before heading off to dinner! We were lucky to have beautiful weather so we sat outside and it almost felt as though we were somewhere on holiday.
Nina M — Google review
The coziest and coolest wine bar in Stellenbosch. Simple but tasty cheese and meat platters and a wine selection that is from Bartinney Farm that boasts some top notch wines and enviable awards. If you want to splurge, you can buy a bottle of Dom or Cristal. So pop in, sit down and drink wine!
David W — Google review
The ideal place to drink the perfect time. The atmosphere is inviting, the staff not only very friendly, but also wonderfully competent. What more could you want. And the wine is excellent anyway.
Lucas Z — Google review
My local hangout mature like good red wine. Always a winner to have a Noble Savage Cab Merlot with friends at this hidden gem in Stellies. No matter how many times I'm come here I am never disappointed. You can order snacks and some light meals/snacks from the family shop (Montegray & Independents).
Jack B — Google review
Gentle atmosphere, lovely service, food and wine all contributed to a lovely, smooth evening experience.
Nick R — Google review
In the heart of the winelands this quaint little wine bar is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. Offering all the wines that the Bartinney winery produces (whites, reds, roses and MCC), craft beers and a small selection of wine based cocktails, there is something for everyone. Most of their wines are available per glass or bottle and they also have snacks that you can order. In the winter the inside seating area is perfect with a warm and cozy atmosphere, and in summer they have the classic "French cafe" seating at small tables on the side walk.

The whole vibe of the place is just great, with song lyrics on the walls adding a fun, nostalgic touch. I love the music inspired theme throughout. Such a cool, laid back atmosphere. The ambiance is inviting with its soft lighting, cozy seating, and a balcony overlooking oak trees. Patrons can indulge in homemade nachos, pizzas, and delectable cheese boards while sipping on expertly crafted cocktails like mojitos and espresso tequila shots made with freshly brewed coffee and Kahlua.

I haven’t had the chance to visit during one of their live music nights yet, but I’ve only heard great things about it. The atmosphere is vibey yet relaxed, making it an easy favorite. Highly recommend!

Balboa Balcony Bar is such a gem! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the food is absolutely delicious, and the service makes you feel truly looked after. It was such a joy to spend time here and I can’t wait to come back!

Awesome space more for your mature crowd, definitely does not have that student-life-theme which is really great! We got great service from the barman and they were friendly and knowledgeable. They clearly have a passion for mixology! We had many different cocktails and at some point we ask the barman to make a cocktail of his own design and it was awesome!! They got premium alcohol which is generally hard to find in stellenbosch. They had live music which also contributes to an awesome environment. Definitely a place to go when in stellenbosch
Skyla X — Google review
Great atmosphere, lovely staff, good drinks. The rock n roll theming (and soundtrack) is fun and the windows with Venetian blinds along the balcony give it an iconic look. The live music on Saturday and Sunday evenings is often folksy and very engaging (free entrance on Sundays!). It’s cosy in winter when they have a heater on and warm, dimmed lighting. It gets very busy, and very hot, in summer. I haven’t tried the food, but it looks good.

If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Stellenbosch, make sure to stop by Spek & Bone, a delightful culinary treasure that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This restaurant is renowned for its inviting atmosphere, featuring enchanting outdoor seating adorned with twinkling fairy lights and surrounded by lush greenery—perfect for enjoying a meal al fresco.
The atmosphere of the restaurant, the service from the staff, the wine selection, and the quality of the food—everything was exceptional. At one point, a calico cat (perhaps the restaurant’s own?) climbed down from the vines, which made for a lovely memory. I had an absolutely wonderful time. Thank you for the fantastic meal!

Stopped in for lunch with my partner and I was blown away! The food was absolutely divine, especially the gnocchi, the milk bread and the kale salad. The service was exceptional too, everyone was warm and hospitable but also extremely knowledgeable. I tried some fantastic wines in their care! All of this in a beautiful setting. A shaded courtyard with dappled light, surrounded my creeping vines. Thanks so much Spek & Bone for a fabulous afternoon!!

Such a gem, fantastic food, great atmosphere. Out of the 12 dishes we ordered, 11 of them were incredible!!!!!! cant wait to go back and try what ever the put next on their menu.
Anthea K — Google review
Super good food for a very decent price! The staff is so kind and gentle, they know their menu and wines by heart. No long waiting times between sets. In winter it’s not crowded. Loved it!
Lisa S — Google review
Brilliant food, stunning combination of flavours. The spring menu really works, with subtlety and robustness as well. A fine balance. Venue was a bit empty hence the atmosphere score, however, it was a Tuesday evening. I would highly recommend. Another hit from Bertus and his team.
Vumani M — Google review
The food was generally fine – some tapas (like the hake) were really good, while others (like the risotto) were less impressive. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere felt a bit sterile, and the lighting didn’t quite match the setting. Since there weren’t many other guests, the place felt rather empty. The price-performance ratio wasn’t great in our opinion – you can find better value at other restaurants in Stellenbosch. Plan for min. 7–8 tapas for two adults.
André M — Google review
Recently had a dinner at spek en bone and it was an absolutely amazing experience. The food was so good regardless if you order tapas or set menu. On top of that we had the best service, with snorre and mullet just beaming with kindness. 10/10 would recommend and ask for snorre and mullet to be your waiter.
Hanz S — Google review
The menu is compact but well thought out, a mix of warm and cold dishes with contrasting flavours: sweet, sour, grilled, fried, and raw. The ceviche leche di tigre is good, gnocchi has loads of richness and flavours and meat with risotto all had excellent flavour, texture, and presentation. Dishes arrive hot and well-plated. Keep it mind the warning though, they’re not big. Most plates cost R120–R220, and you’ll need around three per person to be satisfied. 4 for some to be full. Expect to spend R600-800 each easily, which feels expensive for Stellenbosch considering the portion sizes. (This doesn’t include drinks) The wine/drinks experience drags things down and is everything opposite of what a good hospitality owner should want.. (I hope the owner reads this) no printed drinks menu, you have to walk to a wall to look at the wines wines and you can’t taste before ordering. You end up walking to the bar to pick wines based on a label, and the cheapest glass is R100, which is steep for South Africa. I have been to some of the restaurants within the same group and if this is the way the group is run, it is no surprise to me they are struggling. Look at your peers and adapt

Bar
Aandklas Stellenbosch is a student-focused bar with a dark and smoky allure inside, offering nightly distractions like foosball, pool, beer pong, and quiz nights. The exterior blends seamlessly with neighboring boutiques and cafes adorned with colorful graffiti and twinkling lights. It's a lively spot where young crowds gather for live music, karaoke nights, and competitive pool games. The bar also serves an array of wings, burgers, and pizzas to fuel up for the night.
Great vibes and great music, I would also highly recommend the pizza it's reasonably priced and tastes great.
Adrian S — Google review
Had a fun night out with my cousin and her boyfriend while on a short trip to Cape Town. The pizzas were awesome and the drinks are amazing, love the affordability. The service could be a little better and I wish someone would monitor the ladies bathroom as drunk guys tend to try and follow ladies into the bathroom. Just something to think about as a safety precaution. The overall vibe is really chilled and I'll definitely come back.
Donne B — Google review
Good sized venue, more than one bar, multiple sections and an outside area. Good music and cheap drinks. Also the best toilet roll holder ever…
Robyn C — Google review
The pub gives you a very rock & roll feel. It’s probably perfect for students here with cheap alcohol and food. They have live performances over weekends featuring African metal ? If this is your vibe you should definitely give this a try. I personally didn’t enjoy my time here and the nachos were quite the disappointment but the peppermint jaeger shots were 👌🏼 We were told by the locals that the location is quite sketchy and we shouldn’t park our car there or even go by foot.
Yondering B — Google review
Venue and vibe is great, but the barladies have become soft little snowflakes since my last visit to Stellenbosch. There must be something in the water.

Its a nice place, nice decor, lekke food, but excuse the barlady when she refuses you salt and lemon to go with the tequila shots. Even tho she's cute come on girl it's common decency

Nestled in the heart of Stellenbosch, Le Chant Wines is a delightful fusion of French elegance and South African spirit. This wine bar beautifully reflects the rich history of winemaking in the Cape, where centuries-old traditions meet modern techniques. With a commitment to crafting exceptional wines that are both classic and unique, Le Chant has carved out its niche in a competitive market.
On the corner of the street you’ll find Le Chant Wine Bar. A place that has a nice outdoor as well as authentic-feeling pub-like indoor seating. Service is friendly, selection of wine pretty amazing. I didn’t like the sausage on the platter, but loved all the rest. Seeing as the tables were all full, I think everyone agrees in these parts.
Stefan B — Google review
If you’re going to launch a new brand in an already saturated wine market, you need to make sure that you’re releasing top notch juice, and I believe Le Chant Wines has managed to do just that 🔥😮‍💨 The Rouge is a “Mediterranean” style blend which is Merlot dominant with a supporting cast of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Sangiovese. The Le Chant vineyards lie on the Polkadraai Hills (one of my favourite wards in Stellenbosch) so this wine really manages to capture the essence of the earth. Merlot and Shiraz, especially from this region, are outstanding conductors of terroir. This wine shows vibrant character on the nose, elegant complexity on the palate and boasts a long, juicy, yet layered finish. It’s drinkability is familiar, but also not. My other half got stuck into the baguette served with olive oil, red wine vinegar and Dukkah which paired ridiculously well with their Chenin Blanc 💫 The Le Chant Wine Bar is situated on the corner of Bird & Church street, Stellenbosch. I’d recommend making a turn when next in the area. Ps. Props to Arjoon, our waitron/wine steward. He did a stellar job and his attention to detail was first-class 🤝 #lechant #decoq #lechantwinebar #stellenbosch #capewinelands #wine

What an amazing spot in Stellenbosch and amazing service. We had a bit of a harvest table from the menu which is a black board the waiter brings over to choose from everything was great and they change it with the season. Top recommendation for a day/night out.

The online store is incredible - so many Stellenbosch wines to choose from! Built my own mixed case with a few of my favourites and delivery was lightning fast, less than 24 hours! 10/10 would recommend

Imagine a place where you can taste and purchase all of the wines in the Stellenbosch Wine Route region… Well this is it! A wine tasting room and online shop all wrapped into one trendy spot. A must visit for wine lovers.

Just visited this place a half-hour ago. Asked waiters 3 of the standing and doing nothing if my wife and I can sit outside. Lethargic one answered yes . Just a reminder, the place is completely empty. We went and sat, and after 20 minutes, not one of them came and offered us service. 😑 To the owner. No wonder your business is empty. Simon Wine Emporium is a joke. Don't go there!!!!!! HOW MUCH DID I SPEND PER PERSON. 20 minutes of my God dam life down the drain.

I expected more from a restaurant in such a competitive marketplace like Stellenbosch. Surprisingly inattentive and slow service. But they did make it up with beautiful décor and a extensive wine list to choose from. Great place to taste many of Stellenbosch's wines. But not convinced I'll be back to dine here.
Reinhardt V — Google review
Spent time here after a wedding in the wine lands. With the wedding guests. Decent staff (just a bit slow) but maybe our group was large... But they're friendly. Enough. Awesome wine selection but limited on spirits.
Andile S — Google review
Please note that you cannot taste all the wines here! They offer select tastings. You don’t want to taste whites, too bad if that’s what they are tasting that day! You also cannot buy bottles to take away. It’s delivery only and delivery is honestly quite cost prohibitive. I feel they are pretty deceptive in their advertising. Just go to the wineries. Skip this place. Not worth it. Note - while the gentleman at the shop tried to be helpful, all he did was pass off blame to the lady who works remotely for giving wrong information. Own your mistakes.

Rust en Vrede Wine Estate is home to a warm and inviting restaurant that has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including being listed in San Pellegrino's Top 100 Restaurants in the World. The restaurant is located in the estate's original cellar, which has been transformed into an elegant fine-dining setting while preserving its historic charm. Guests can enjoy a superb six-course tasting menu that combines Brazilian-Italian culinary influences with local South African ingredients.
Rust en Vrede in Stellenbosch fully lives up to its reputation as one of South Africa’s finest vineyards. It’s the only estate dedicated exclusively to red wines, and the results speak for themselves — the Syrah from the wine tasting (R120) was a clear standout. For lunch, the menu is simple but perfectly executed: sirloin, filet, and salmon, each around R390 and all excellent. The setting is stunning, with panoramic vineyard views and a serene, refined atmosphere. Service was stellar — attentive without being overbearing. It’s easy to see why Travel + Leisure names Rust en Vrede the #1 vineyard in Cape Town.

A culinary highlight for years. We have been coming back to this wonderful restaurant for many years – and we are delighted every time. The chef and his team consistently deliver at the highest level. Simply heavenly! The wine selection is outstanding. It is also particularly pleasing that the staff has become noticeably more relaxed over time – always friendly and attentive, yet no longer as formal as in the past. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Resie P — Google review
A World-Class Wine Experience with Historic Charm As an Australian, I’ve always believed we produce some of the best wine in the world and have the finest winery experiences to match—but Rust en Vrede genuinely blew me away. Set in the heart of Stellenbosch, this estate offers a perfect blend of breathtaking scenery, deep winemaking heritage, and a passion for excellence that’s evident in every glass. Established in 1694, Rust en Vrede is steeped in history, yet everything about the experience feels current, curated, and exceptional. The wines were nothing short of superb—elegant, complex, and clearly crafted with great care. The team’s knowledge and enthusiasm were contagious, and the sommelier’s storytelling elevated the entire tasting journey. You walk away not just having tasted great wine, but understanding it. The restaurant menu may be intentionally limited, but it’s absolutely not about quantity—it’s about quality. My meal was perfectly executed, paired brilliantly with the wine, and served in a setting that felt equal parts refined and relaxed. It’s no wonder Rust en Vrede has achieved international acclaim. From its historic Cape Dutch architecture to its award-winning reds, this is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates fine wine and genuine hospitality. Absolutely fantastic. A new benchmark for me.

Expensive but absolutely Worth Every Cent! We had lunch yesterday at Rust en Vrede’s Tasting Room, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. You can’t make a reservation, so it’s definitely worth arriving early. The salmon was honestly one of the best we’ve ever had — perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The venue itself is beautiful, peaceful, and elegantly designed, making it the perfect spot for lunch in Stellenbosch Winelands Highly recommended! Saskia our waiter was also great!

Came here for wine tasting as we were in the area for a night. Decided to come here based on the reviews. The venue is very nice and you can tell there is a lot of history there. The tasting we had was red wine based and very affordable. The overall experience was ok but I would have expected more from the experience. Didn’t have lunch there but the food looked nice.

Hudsons - The Burger Joint in Stellenbosch is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. This American-inspired restaurant offers a modern twist on classic burgers, along with a variety of milkshakes and ice-cold beers. The contemporary design and inviting atmosphere make it the perfect place to unwind after a game or catch sports screenings. Vegetarians will appreciate their flavorful falafel taco, while burger enthusiasts can enjoy the Slider Special every Thursday, offering tasty mini burgers at a great price.
Second time visiting this Hudsons and both times have been great, first was in summer when we sat outside and this time was in winter, we sat inside and they had fireplaces going to keep the place warm. Food - I could make a long review explaining how the three of us were drooling over how good it was but I'll keep this short haha. The food was amazing and always recommend this to friends and family. Service was great, friendly, explained things thoroughly and always smiling.

A small group of us visited Hudson’s on a Tuesday evening, the night before a public holiday. Upon our arrival we were told that our drinks orders would take 50 minutes, we decided to stay but regret this entirely. After eventually recruiting a waitress for the night, we were continuously fighting for her attention. Over an hour we waited for our wine and milkshakes to arrive, and were very disappointed with the quality. The milkshakes were small and contained less than two Oreos (note the price R60+). The glasses of wine also could not be produced within an hour and had to be chugged down as we had the impression that the staff wanted us to leave. Please see photos attached of umbrellas being carried past our table, and chair stacking that totally disrupted any hint of ambiance. We will definitely not be returning to this disappointing restaurant.

Service was efficient and attentive. Drinks were very good and glasses were chilled too which was a nice detail. Decided to order some pizza which was prepared in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the cheese on the pizza was rancid. We informed our server who informed the manager who told us that he would investigate the matter. The conclusion being that the cheese was indeed rancid. Our server was apologetic and accommodating however, it would have been appreciated to have an apology from the manager who we didn't see for the rest of our time there. Additionally, a small gesture of sympathy such as having our drinks bill (R200) settled would have been appreciated considering the potential risk we assumed in consuming spoiled food. All things considered the service is good, and the drinks are great but, I personally won't be eating here again.

Went to Hudson’s for dinner and a drink with some friends and had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely incredible and the cocktails were devine. Our waitress, Chloe, made the experience even better with her amazing hospitality.
Teagan C — Google review
I visited this restaurant with a group of about 15 friends. While I understand serving a large group can be challenging, our experience with the waitress was extremely disappointing. From the start, she was unfriendly and unapproachable. At one point, when I tried to get her attention, she looked directly at me, rolled her eyes, and walked over to another table instead. When she finally came to take our orders, her tone was passive-aggressive, which made the interaction uncomfortable for the whole table. On the positive side, the food was really good. I had the chicken burger with skinned fries, which were both delicious and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was overshadowed by the poor service. I think staff should be more welcoming and professional, especially when handling large groups, as good service makes a big difference in the overall dining experience.

De Akker is a historic pub and restaurant located in a heritage building from the late 1700s in Stellenbosch. The name 'De Akker' means acorn in Afrikaans, paying homage to the oak-lined Church Street in Stellenbosch. It's known for its good food, wide selection of drinks, and great atmosphere.
An impromto visit on a cloudy Sunday afternoon. I love a good bottle of wine but decided on a nostolgic bottle of Tassenberg. Never knowing if you will get a good one. I was lucky. This is the oldest pub in South Africa and our watering hole since early years. The ribs was great. The rump not so much.

This place is disgusting. Cleanliness clearly means nothing here. We were there just an hour ago — sat down at the table and immediately got our clothes dirty. The benches were in terrible condition, like someone had been walking on them with muddy boots. It's a complete disregard for customers. I strongly advise against visiting — it will ruin both your clothes and your mood for the entire day.

Was a fun experience to go for a mid afternoon beer during our holiday. Before immigrating. The only annoying thing was that they allowed people to smoke inside the building making it harder for us to have a good time

Julian's Café-Bar, located on Andringa Street, is a versatile spot that transitions from a cozy café during the day to a lively bar at night. The menu offers a variety of light bites and heartier meals, with their nachos being particularly popular. The establishment also provides generous daily specials, making it a favorite among students. In the evening, Julian's transforms into a swanky bar with a relaxed atmosphere where patrons can enjoy classic cocktails and new creations while listening to funky tunes.
We had a double birthday celebration at Julians Café-Bar! They accommodated our 15 person party with excellent service! The food was amazing. They have specials everyday! The atmosphere was great! I would recommend anyone wanting a great evening out with friends to go to Julians Café-Bar! Tiny was an amazing host! Very friendly and accommodating!

I would definitely say this place is more meant for the students of the university, as it always packed with students and the locals rarely get a chance to go there unless it is during holiday times when the students isn't here and then Julians is quiet. Overall it is a nice place, they have weekly specials that is nice and the prizes are reasonable.

The food was good. There really isn't anything bad that you can say about it. But unfortunately it still remains (café) food. Not that this is a bad thing. There portions are really good. Flavour is good it fits in really well with the feel of the store. As long as you are not expecting fine dining. The only thing that I would not is that when it's busy it can get quite noise. Which is fine. But all round really nice place to stop for a quick bite. Morning noon or night. And easy on your pocket too.

We only had the Slider Trio to share, which came with a wine pairing. The trio consisted of 2 beef sliders with different toppings and the 3rd a pulled pork. All were delicious 😋 and flavour filled, and the wine was pretty good. My favourite was the Synergy blend. Definitely worth the visit.

Excellent food, great choices with excellent service, all in a venue with beautiful decor. A selection of 80's music plays in tbe background, though better suited to Rock-n-Roll guitar jamming music lovers, which doesn't quite match the genre of this venue.

The Beyerskloof Wynbar was awesome! The food was excellent all round (4 of us had the ribs special which is 500g for R109, whaaaat?! And one had a toasted sandwich). Really, the food was amazing! On top of this, there are R35 for a double brandy and coke or double gin and tonic specials 👀 We shared a bottle of Traildust wine after getting a great and passionate description of the wine from Jacques. The wine was excellent and worked well with the ribs. The wine selection is good with wines ranging from under R100 to R800 for the premium and the process are the same as those on the farm. The waiters were fast and friendly and the food arrived pretty quickly. We'll be visiting this spot regularly in the future. Would highly recommend.

De Lapa Pub in Stellenbosch is a lively spot offering old school music and affordable drinks. The two-story pub provides a mix of classic hits downstairs, while upstairs features deep house, trance, and EDM tracks. Known for its cheap drinks, it's a popular spot among students. The staff serves drinks quickly, making it easy to get in without much wait. However, it's best to avoid upsetting the bouncers.
bru we we’re knocking on the window and snaz said los, poes unreasonable, but we moved on , and knocked on a window its NOT that deep, all we wanted to do was get upstairs.
Connor M — Google review
De Lapa is the most unsafe I have ever felt at a club. The bouncers don’t pat you down on entrance and when you don’t look at someone the right way they come into your face and want to fight. One of your managers shouted at us for swearing and at the same time was swearing at us which is completely unacceptable! This club is completely unhygienic. The girls bathroom door does not even close which makes easy access for the opposite sex to enter extremely easy. Personally I don’t even think this place deserves a one star review. It is an absolute disgrace! I will not be back there and I will definitely make sure I spread the word around to friends and family to not go to De Lapa. I am disgraced with the experience I had tonight!
Daniel B — Google review
My dad and his friend flew down to Cape Town for the week to visit me at university. We had a lovely afternoon at Bohemia and Aandklas. This afternoon was then ruined when we decided to end the evening by going to De Lapa (one of my favourite night clubs), when the bouncer would not allow my dad and his friend into the venue as we were told that only students were allowed and we were all required to present a student card. This was new information to me as no where on Instagram nor on their premises does it state that only students are allowed inside the venue. I suggest that De Lapa updates their terms and conditions to state that an ID and Student Card are required to enter the premises. I definitely will not be returning after this incident. #NotParentFriendly

The best part about it is the amount of people that go. It’s really tiny and there’s weird rules about lines and places. Bribing is hectic to get in. On a busy night if you don’t bribe then expect to wait at least 2 and a half hours - if you bribe then it’ll be less than 30 min. Music is nice but repetitive if you’re here often. Drinks specials during happy hour are good. Floors are filthy and wet within an hour of being open and don’t get sorted for the rest of the night.
Kallen M — Google review
ASSAULT & HARRASMENTT 💯from the bouncers you get sshived and touched by the waist as a girl its really uncomfortable and they have no respect for any human being man or female they just think they can do “anything” because they are bouncers and Assault and harasse you
Amy G — Google review
Aggressive bouncers that will try to fight you no matter what yoy want to do. SINENJONGO321 is the worst with a vest on and he thinks he wants to fight everyone
Jonathan P — Google review
The bouncers had to help each other to look at both my ID and drivers license for a full 2 minutes before they let me in, they do this every time and shoved me through the entrance afterwards! If you want to feel safe DO NOT ask the bouncers for help whatsoever, they’ll just kick you out. The queue is way too long and once you get in you need to stand in another queue to get to the actual club which is upstairs. Drinks are OVERLY priced! Bathrooms are open with drunk people falling over you mid pee
Tristan V — Google review
This place should close. Bouncers should all be fired, they all think because they have the power to let people into a club that they’re god. I’ve seen dogs been hit by cars that have more cognitive function than these bouncers. I reckon the amoeba that live in Chernobyl have more fine motor skills than them.

You get assaulted and robbed outside in front of the bouncer and he does nothing. Pathetic! Disgusting! Bouncer claimed he saw nothing, but later on after demanding information he said he saw a guy in a black tshirt taking the phone. Wouldn’t let you back inside to find the person.

I was low-key scammed by the bartender on the night of 17th March. I ordered a beer that costs R38. The bartender took a payment for R50 without telling me first, then claimed it as a tip because apparently they only accept minimum payments of R50. He probably should've told me before hand about it. No apologies, no attempts to fix the situation, no anything. Just carried on working. I guess, the rumours are true then, the staff does scam people there.

This was meant to be the venue for a matric dance afterparty with exclusive access for the matrics and much older people were getting let in. Bouncers were trying to kick people out who had bought tickets and were within the age limit set for the event unless they bought them a drink. Other bouncers were dragging random people out for no reason and then letting them back in 20 minutes later just for fun. The bouncers are on a complete power trip. Also it was meant to be a safe and closed event and no measures were taken to ensure that.

Staff remain hidden in back room, but shout loudly to each other in Xhosa. So noisy! Hard to get service.Customers stand and wait at front counter, then leave without Nu staff caring or showing their faces. Customer has to AsK for each thing. Sugar then brought. Ask for a spoon to stir with! Straws too thin for the thick smoothies. Staff shrug. No thick straws. 16:30 all chairs and tables packed up.ore customers come in, stand at counter, obviously want takeaways. Staff nowhere! No clue how to give service. Only the Light skinned Black man behaved like he understands English. The Cashier seems not to know the Menu. Your food is great. I've been 4x, each time cashier not at the till, and no waitresses to be seen. Surely, the reason these people are employed, is to serve and attend to customers and increase orders, but nah! They don't care.

The Taphuis Gastropub is a lovingly restored historic pub with rustic charm and great food. Primarily known for its creative pub-style lunch and dinner menus, the eatery is perfect for taking a break from the bustle of the city. With hues of green and renovated fireplaces throughout, the Taphuis makes for a very homey restaurant experience.
We had a really good time here! Food, service and atmosphere is great! Menu satisfies all wishes and it tastes amazing! Would come back anytime again!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Taphuis. Opted for the “braaiplankie” on the menu to share. It was absolutely delicious full of flavors. The setting is beautiful as well. We chose to sit in the garden. Highly recommended.

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday. The lamb shank was delicious and a very generous serving size. Charming, attentive service on a gorgeous patio.

We were a party of six for Sunday lunch. We were seated on the left of the Taphuis bar area. The seating and ambiance is old Victorian, plush and very comfortable. The service was fast and efficient, we never sat at any time with an empty glass. The food was very flavoursome and a good portion size. We ordered the Wagu burger, Wagu Babootie and Pork belly. The Pork Belly crackling was air fried and little bit oily and bland. The food was complimented with the Lanzerac Cab and Pinotage, both were great. Will definitely visit again.

Wonderful breakfast spot. We got the chicken livers on toast which was lovely, their eggs Benedict, a croissant and a slice of cheesecake for takeaway. Only complaint is that the croissant was quite small, and that we asked for shaved ham but got bacon for the benedict. But other than that, great service, good food and lovely atmosphere. Their cakes are also to die for. Will be coming again.

From the time you arrive in the 18th century structures till the time you leave, you experience friendly and welcoming service. The food was excellent but not pretentious. Our party enjoyed the Pork Belly and Hake and finished off with the delicious creme brulee.

…My 69th Birthday celebration-lunch was the reason for our visit to this venue located on the incredible-lii awesome picturesque LANZERAC Wine Estate with it’s lash well manicured running green-lawn and many classical White Manor-Houses in which some of the many restaurants on-site are to be found. The “Taphuis” even has outside seating under large garden umbrellas and two separate dinning-rooms, the Real “TAPHUIS” section which is a large Pub with tables and chair where one can enjoy your meals and a long Bar-counter for drinks but we choose to be seated in the “Private-Dinning Room”. Very elegant-lii set-up with soft material-cloth seating and impressive decor. The Menu-Card is double-sided “A-4” divided in sections: - 1.) Small Plates & Bites - offering 10 dishes 2.) Salads - 4 offers 3.) Pub Style Plates - 5 offers 4.) From The Grill - 3 offers Burgers, Lamb Cutlets, Ribeye On The Bone 5.) Desserts 7 offers! It wasn’t an easy task to decide what to try. We started off with “Pinotage” per glass and our Starters were: - 1.) SKAAPSTERTJIES (smoked chilli flakes, apricot glaze, cured mustard-seeds) 2.) OUMA SE BEESSTERT KROKETTE (walnut crumbs, slaphakskeentjies, wild chive, pea pesto) 3.) PERI-PERI CHICKEN LIVERS (tomato, crisp red onion, herbs, aioli, herb roosterkoek. All the starters were intriguing-lii delightful-lii delicious and very tantalising to the taste-buds. Mains: - 1.) TAPHUIS BURGER @ R140 (beer glaze, short rib, bacon, Melrose sauce, onion-rings, chunky-chips. One can upgrade to WAGYU for R35. 2.) BBQ LAMB CUTLETS @ R210 (glazed carrot puree, braised lamb bonbon, potato fondant, black garlic emulsion, burnt cauliflower). 3.) BRAISED LAMB SHANK @ R245 (smoked potato puree, waterblommetjies bredie, pinotage jus, rosemary pecan crumble. The meals were well presented and the meats were A-grade quality. (NB! The meat is HFSA - Halaal Friend-lii Substitute Available) Desserts: - 1.) HAZELNUT CHOCOLATE ROULADE @ R95 (ganache slice, naartjies, white chocolate snow, orange ice cream) 2.) AMARULA CREME BRULEE @ R90. Because the meals were so scrumptious we only ordered 2 desserts but when the waiter arrived with the plates there was 3 plates. The extra plate knocked me off my feet as it was a complementary-dessert made up with a special-lii baked Chocolate Caramel Cake-let and the words “Happy Birthday” written on the plate with chocolate. The desserts were beautiful-lii presented and very delicious. Our waiter’s name was Christopher and he was on point and served us very professional-lii even as he admitted that he isn’t normal-lii a waiter his true profession is been a Bartender. We had a through-lii amazing time here and will recommend a visit to this establishment to all. We will visit here again in the future….NB! The toilets are very clean & neat….

I must be honest I was disappointed. The service is fantastic and it’s a great venue, warm and cosy. However I found the portions were tiny and the dessert was not great. The wine that is completely overpriced. There is no way that a bottle of Zinfandel could ever cost R950!!! The dessert was dry and flavorless, not worth the calories. I really enjoyed my beet falafel pasta but I felt it was a tiny portion. Not value for money.

Delaire Graff Restaurant is located on the picturesque Helshoogte Pass, offering stunning views of the Banhoek Valley and beautifully landscaped gardens adorned with striking sculptures. The estate doubles as an art gallery, showcasing 400 pieces from Laurence Graff's private collection, including works by renowned artists like William Kentridge and Sydney Kumalo.
We recently visited Delaire Graff for lunch on our anniversary, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. While the breathtaking views and exquisite food are widely known, it was the exceptional service that truly made our day unforgettable. The team went above and beyond to make us feel special. Not only was the service flawless throughout, but they also surprised us with a handwritten card filled with thoughtful well wishes, accompanied by delicious chocolates to mark our celebration. It was such a personal touch that left us speechless. Delaire Graff doesn’t just offer world-class food and views—they deliver a hospitality experience that is second to none. We were truly made to feel like valued guests, and it’s this level of care that makes the place stand out. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous location and environment. Wonderful wines. I think our expectation for the food was too high. They were beautiful dishes and prepared very well, but the taste wasn’t exactly to our liking. It was good though. I’d recommend visiting.

This is the best experience I’ve had at a vineyard in a long time. The staff is so kind but better than that the location looks absolutely beautiful and the view is BREATHTAKING. I want to go back and stay in the villas. The food was delicious and I believe they grow it all there on location. I honestly can not wait to go back

Wonderful place especially in summer when you can eat on the terrace. Good for larger parties as well. The views are amazing great food and good service. Delaire never disappoints! Food: pretty and tasty dishes especially the springbok and fish. Karoo lamb as a starter. Service: quick and attention to detail. Infants: only allowed during lunch. Very helpful to accommodate our son with a high chair stroller storage etc. Family restroom with good changing facility. Check out the tasting area as well. Even if you don’t come for lunch you can have a nice experience at the terrace.

The best place ever! Delaire Graff Restaurant is truly on another level. From the moment you arrive, the views, the atmosphere, and the attention to detail make the experience unforgettable. The food is exceptional — beautifully presented, full of flavor, and crafted with real passion. The service is warm, professional, and flawless, making you feel taken care of from start to finish. Whether it’s for a special occasion or simply to enjoy the best that the winelands have to offer, Delaire Graff is a must-visit. Absolutely outstanding in every way!

I can’t imagine a restaurant terrace with a better view than the one at Delaire Graff. The mountains and vineyards on the background are jaw dropping. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is amazing, of course they make their own wine so you have to try some. The whole property is gorgeous. The experience starts since you enter the property and get to admire their sculpture and beautiful grounds. It is a must stop in Stellenbosch.
Daniela G — Google review
Amazing experience! Our waiter, Lundi, was so helpful and kind. Combine that with great food and an unparalleled view, this is nothing short of a 10/10
Camille E — Google review
The Delaire Graff Restaurant sits on the top of a hill with good views down the valley and the opposing mountains. The inside of the restaurant and the garden part radiates an air of luxury. So far so good . However, the quality of the food fell rather short of expectations triggered by that kind of environment, rather decorative than inspired cooking. Pricewise Delaire Graff however competes with premium locations like Beyond, La Petite Colombe or Beau Constantia. To sum up: there are places where you get far more value and far better food than at Delaire Graff.

Wijnhuis is a charming wine bar and restaurant located in Stellenbosch, offering a delightful atmosphere for enjoying great wine and Italian-inspired dishes. The villa-like setting provides a romantic ambiance for savoring negronis, Aperol spritz, classic pasta dishes, and sumptuous seafood specialties. The extensive wine selection is carefully curated to perfectly complement each dish. Additionally, the restaurant offers fine dining experiences amidst the historical and picturesque Church Street.
Yummy food and great atmosphere. Well worth a visit, even though the competition with other restaurants in the area is immense.

We came here for dinner and the food was just outstanding. Their cocktails and wine selection were great too! The six of us ordered different dishes and we all loved what we ordered. Everyone was hungry so I only took a photo of bf and my dish. The portion size pretty big, I struggled to finish mines, I probably shouldn’t have ordered a veg side. The bf and my friend had to help me. There was so much on the menu I wanted to try. Was sad we didn’t have time to eat here again. If you’re ever in Stellenbosch, definitely SAVE this for your next visit! They were really busy, and we managed to get a table as someone was just leaving. But we ended up swapping tables twice as the first time the table was too small for the six of us. Then the second table, there was a larger group that arrived so they asked if we can move outside to a different table. It was a bit annoying initially but it was actually quite nice sitting outside in their back courtyard. Definitely book a table if you’re planning to come here.

Sister restaurant of the property we stayed down Long Street, chic ambience and a lovely courtyard patio at the interior of the building. Food was good, albeit portions on the smaller side. Italian slanted but in a non conventional manner. Great Aperol Spritz, one to casually sip on and visually wander the streets of Stellenbosch on a sunny afternoon !

Had some dinner here the other night with a friend. The service was good and I must say there is a lot of great seating inside, upstairs and in the courtyard. The wine list as expected was extensive and we had the Miles Mossop Introduction and loved it. We had some carpaccio and ravioli with some chips as a side. The menu is in Italian which i think might be something to change as I have heard other people bothered by it, perhaps because the selection is not as big. The specials are a good deal but be aware this place is somewhat more pricy than places around them. My best advice would be to come as a group and book a place upstairs or outside if weather permits.

The first time you try something new, it is not always the best experience, but at this restaurant is was fantastic 👌! The service we received was amazing and we felt so special ❤️ From the vibe ,it feels as if you are in a little town in Italy with delicious food and a good atmosphere all round. Frank the manager was superb from his recommendations to his wonderful service 👏 Really had such a beautiful date night Thank you ! We will be back

We recently visited Wijnhuis and had a very mixed experience. On the positive side, the food was absolutely delicious. The quality of the dishes was not in question. However, the service unfortunately let the evening down. I ordered the steak but was not given a steak knife. When I asked for one, along with mayonnaise, and my girlfriend asked for salt, we were assured these would be brought, but after more than 10 minutes nothing arrived. In the end, I got up to fetch salt myself and was left using a butter knife for the steak. My girlfriend’s ravioli portion was also very small – just seven pieces for over R200 – which felt disappointing given the price. We understand that restaurants can get busy, and we weren’t expecting flawless service. But for a restaurant in this price range, we expected a little more attention to detail. What made it worse was the feeling that, because we are students, we were overlooked and treated differently. The manager visited every table around us, some more than once, but never came to ours. Our plates were only cleared about 20 minutes after we had finished, which left us feeling ignored, especially as we had chosen Wijnhuis to celebrate a special moment. For a bill of over R1000 for two, we had hoped the service would match the excellent standard of the kitchen. Overall, the food was fantastic, but the service needs to improve so that all guests feel equally valued and the experience truly lives up to the quality of the food.

Walking past Wijnhuis, we were drawn in by a lovely hostess named Kyra, whose warm and welcoming smile instantly caught our attention. Even though we’d already had dinner, she invited us in, made sure we were comfortable, and took great care of us. Kyra helped us choose from their cocktails and wine selection with genuine enthusiasm and great recommendations. Her friendly, relaxed manner made the whole experience feel effortless. If you're in the area, it’s worth stopping by Wijnhuis - if only to be welcomed by Kyra!

A group of friends met for lunch on Sunday. We were all greeted in friendly manner. Drinks ordered and served. Lunch order taken - and I want to mention that it was a 'difficult', out-of-the-ordinary, request. The waiter was exceptionally agreeable and the order was perfectly served. The food was of a remarkably high quality, delicious and presentation pleasing. A memorable dining experience

Nestled in the heart of South Africa's wine country, 96 Winery Road Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its South African-influenced international cuisine. Since its opening in May 1996, this charming country restaurant has become a favorite among locals and international visitors alike. The rustic backdrop provides a warm and relaxing atmosphere, complete with a wide tented terrace overlooking the garden and vineyards.

Went here for Sunday lunch, my husband ordered the pork belly and I had the rib eye. Pork belly was succulent and the apples really complimented the dish. Rib eye was slightly stringy but cooked well. The sauce was a mustard kind of butter which was nice and the fries were delicious. They had Three Spades Cider which we tried and was really good as well as the Wow wow cocktail (which I requested it to be a mocktail) and it was great just a bit too sweet. Ordered the whiskey cheesecake and that was simply amazing! The restaurant is situated in a beautiful neighbourhood that’s quiet and can enjoy the mountains and greenery. It has a very homey feel and the servers are all so friendly and delightful. It is a very popular restaurant so I would highly recommend making a reservation but if you are lucky like we were the hostess will make a plan to find a table for you. Just an overall pleasant experience and a day well spent!

We had a lovely dinner here this evening. Our table was set right in front of the fireplace, creating the perfect warm and cozy atmosphere on a cold winter’s day. The service was excellent—from the attentive waitstaff to the knowledgeable sommelier—and the owner who also personally checked in to ensure everything was just right. The burrata salad was a standout starter, full of flavor and beautifully presented. For mains, both the pork belly and ribeye were superb. Would recommend Crème Brûlée for dessert. All the steaks are free-range, and they also offer dry-aged T-bone steaks by the kilogram, which is a great option for sharing. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality steak, great service, and either scenic views or a fireplace to keep you warm in winter.

Located in the rural part of Stellenbosch, this restaurant is just off the main road with allot of parking & lots of seating area both inside & outdoor...there is also a play area for kids...there is a meat aging fridge for purchase of quite expensive aged meat...we saw one slice of steak 🥩 costing around R900 just for the small piece...there's also jams etc for sale...the menu is very very limited...on the mains there was 3 items as can be seen from the pic...the pepper steak was about R300 & shared aged steak R1300 per kg...there was a burger for R180...the other stuff was more tapas style but quite small which is not really a mains & just 2 of those would cost about R300...so the burger was very bland...buns were dry, there was no Sauce with the burger & just fries which were also dry...there is no veggies or salads or anything else with...the service was average from the waiter...cannot remember even a smile...but she was not rude just maybe disinterested...was wondering how this restaurant survives...they had allot of patrons but almost nothing on a main menu...

The Kleine Zalze Restaurant is located on the Kleine Zalze Wine Estate right next to the wine tasting area, making it the ideal spot to enjoy something to eat after trying the great wines the estate has on offer. Visiting for lunch, we decided to sit inside the quaint interior, however they also have a covered outdoor area, perfect to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. I decided to go for the Steak Lunch special, which included a perfectly cooked 250g Bonsmara sirloin steak and a choice of three delicious shiraz wines. The steak was tender and flavorful, and the glass of wine perfectly complemented it. Overall, I had a great experience at the Kleine Zalze Restaurant. What a lovely setting, and delicious food ! Set on a terrace above the grounds, one can enjoy the amazing food and listen to birds chirp and watch the butterflies flutter by, with a view of the Stellenbosch mountains ahead of you. Service is good. The crumbed monkish with scallops was delicious and so beautifully plated ! Well worth a stop, I've been to South Africa twice this year and stopped by both times. Highly recommended. Oh by the way, the online reservation bot makes people choose a table indoors, but actually all reservations are for both an indoor & outdoor table. If the weather is good (as is often the case), people can choose to sit outdoors (as most do!)

Atmosphere is the best…. Warm and cozy with the fire. Service is superb :) Deserts are not their strong point. If compared to speakers: A mono system with an overpowering bass sub… lacking nuance and granularity… just dough and lots of sweet. Have had other real food. Stumbled across this place and really glad we did. Beautiful bar area where we had pre dinner drinks and they have 2 bar/restaurants that serve the same food but are different. Very varied menu and we really enjoyed out meal and the service.

We left a bit underwhelmed this time. We visited for an informal birthday lunch because they were open on a Monday. The starters were ok: lamb samoosas had a tasty filling but a bit oily. The seared springbok was tasteful but they serve you just 2 small slices of meat on old toast for R125. Unacceptable to charge that (also compared to the prices of the main courses). The mains were big portions, but the taste was average. The fish&chips was crispy but the fish wasn’t seasoned so zero taste. The tartare sauce was some kind of mayonaise. And the extra calamari (for R80!) tasted like old leftovers from earlier that day. The fish of the day was silverfish (a bit boring as well) in a supposedly bouillabaisse sauce, but rather some store-bought-ratatouille or whatever I can make of it. So all and all a mediocre lunch for a price that buys you much better quality in the area. I’m probably spoiled, but Stellenbosch just has so many great restaurants in this price range. This one won’t be on my favorite-list unfortunately.

I was pleasantly surprised the other day when a friend suggested we go to Gino’s. Their pizzas were different but really good and their drinks are some of the best prices in town ! As far as I know they don’t take reservation so if you’d like to watch rugby here, you’ll have to come super early. The service was also great, although they can get quite busy so expect a little but of a wait.
Zoie T — Google review
Food is nice but the service is a little on the slow side. They don’t take reservations so you might have to wait a little for a table when they’re busy. Well worth a visit though, especially to watch some sport.

Gino's offers a warm and friendly atmosphere that caters to anyone from students to business lunches.

Gino's Stellenbosch is nothing like its website. It is a large student facility whete you go for pizza and TV. We were a group of 4 older people from outside Stellenbosch and chose it for the photos and description on website. The steak ordered was terrible, calamari mediocre and mellazane good. Not recommennded for a group like ours. The positive was it was open on a Sunday evening when other favourites were closed.
Erica A — Google review
Wow what a gem of a place! It first it seems to be at first seems to be a student hangout only, which it is, but if you stay you will see that it is much more. Great food, great prices, and owner managed. The owner is a very friendly chap who is clearly not greedy. He told us to take a small portion as the large portions are really huge. Nice afternoon under the trees. Big screen TVs for sport.

Restaurant
Craft Wheat & Hops is a popular eatery located in the heart of South Africa, specifically in Stellenbosch. The restaurant offers an extensive menu featuring a variety of burgers, including options like The Americano, Avolicious, and Double Trouble. In addition to its food offerings, the establishment is known for its wide selection of beers on tap from over 15 micro-breweries and an additional 20 brewery options available in bottles.
The owner may have taken a risk putting a craft beer gastropub on the trendiest corner of the trendiest town in all of Africa’s wine country, but I think the gamble paid off. Huge selection of local beer, local gin, and I’m sure tons of wine, too, though I was here for beer and meat. Their peri peri wings were exactly what I wanted and they are a steal at 100 Rand with fries on Thursdays. Excellent pork ribs and very attentive servers. What’s not to love?!
Anderson M — Google review
Beers and Pub Grub sorta joint, expect as such for the ambience, service and noise levels. But Flamms on any menu are truly a bonus, and in this case they were well made. Thin n crusty enough with just the right dosage of fillings. Just simply perfect for sharing around the table, though I had one to myself !

Will come again for a proper visit. They have the generic safe craft beers and very good looking place and very friendly staff. Loads of the faux Stellies posers around, but hey they pay so places like this can exist! Will update rating once I had a proper visit.

Lovely place in the centre of activities in Stellenbosch. Great food, great prices, good service. I have one minor complaint, they ran out of stock of the beverage which was on special at the time, I had to change flavours, and everyone knows you shouldn't mix your drinks...
Morne L — Google review
Busy restaurant with a good atmosphere. One of the best pizzas I've ever had. The dough is amazing. Good selection of drinks with happy hour specials.
Eric S — Google review
Food was really tasty and filling, however the fries were average and a bit cold. The beer tasting is a nice thing to try, especially for beer lovers and it’s very affordable. Only issue would be service, not sure who our waiter is for most of our time there, until they got someone to assist us, but overall great food and good beer. Would definitely return.

Absolutely define pizza! Cheese for dessert to top it off. Nice casual setting and perfect for a late lunch/early dinner. Great vibe. Menu is not extensive, but what is served is excellent. If you enjoy a tapas type meal, as I do, then you will enjoy the food. Great selection of beer, bottled or on tap. Be warned that it is a popular hang out and you might not always get a table.

Beyerskloof is a picturesque winery with a front building that offers stunning views of vineyards and mountains. The staff, while attentive, may not be highly knowledgeable about the wines but provide detailed information cards. Known for their Pinotage and sweet Field Blend, Beyerskloof also has a shop where visitors can purchase their favorite bottles.
Always a pleasure coming here. They have the best Pinotage. We are well familiar with their wines, although it is nice to try some of their more premium wines. There is inside and outside seating. A nice relaxed environment with knowledgeable staff.

Still the best Pinotage and blends South Africa has to offer. We stop here every year for a tasting, and enjoy it as if we do not drink litres of their wine every other day. Do a tasting, buy the wine and enjoy their company.

Came for a Sunday brunch and it was exceptional. Lovely + friendly service from René. We ordered the chicken livers to share and it came with mushroom risotto in the middle! Then for mains we got their burger and the eggs benedict. Both also delicious. Will be returning in future. 😌

We had an absolutely fantastic visit to Beyerskloof Winery! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and had the pleasure of being served by Brandon, who truly made our experience unforgettable. His knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm for the wines were evident, and he took the time to give us a personalized, one-on-one tasting experience. Not only did we get to sample some incredible wines, but Brandon also took us behind the scenes, where we got an up-close look at the barrels and learned about the winemaking process. It was fascinating to see the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into every bottle. The setting was beautiful, the wines were exceptional, and the service was top-notch. If you’re looking for an intimate and insightful wine tasting experience, Beyerskloof is a must-visit, especially if you have the chance to be hosted by Brandon!

A lovely venue and perfect for a valentines date. The staff were fast, efficient and friendly. The service was quick, and the food was really great. It was served hot and fresh. We were greeted with a free drink and garlic pizza. The price was fair. The only complaint I do have is that sitting on the "outside", there was a table to our right who were vaping. As a non smoker it wasn't nice, even though they didn't do it the whole time. Well done to the owners and managers

Had a delightful time at this estate on our quest for the perfect Pinotage. When we told the young man who organized our wine tasting that we thought we'd found our favourite at a previous farm he went all out to prove us wrong! Knowledgeable and charming he convinced us to leave there with a few bottles. We had lunch on the terrace overlooking the vineyard, the pizzas were excellent and service was too. A most pleasant visit.

Chef patron Christophe Dehosses and head chef Alex Rykaart create weekly changing à la carte menus featuring hearty French-inspired dishes made with fresh local ingredients.
I’m not sure why it’s taken me so many years to have lunch at the Vine Bistro at Glenelly. Beautiful quality French bistro food. The confit duck was superb and the dauphinoise potatoes so creamy and garlicky Service was excellent, good selection of estate wines by the glass and other wines by the bottle Gorgeous setting too

Overall very nice place for lunch or dinner - fantastic terrace and views that set the tone. The food is something between casual modern French and fine dining. Unfortunately I noticed how the quality went downhill (last time had yellowtail tartar and it was half portion and totally bland + springbok fillet that was simply done wrong technic wise, jus was like broth - so watery and not was jus supposed to be). but if you don't seek fine dining experience and not very picky the place is great. Not expensive as well.

A gem of a place! Even though the menu has got potential for improvement. The food was delicious but could be elevated by a better presentation. The winter menu is just fair. Visiting Glenelly is an experience to look forward to - always. My partner and I have been to The Vine Bistro numerous times (we usually visit for our shared Birthday and anniversary). Every element on the dish served to you has been well thought out & exceptionally prepared and paired. The staff members are delightful and true professionals. It's been a pleasure getting to know them over the course of the three years we've been visiting. Already looking forward to our next visit!

My family and I had the most appalling Sunday lunch yesterday. The quality of the food and presentation was shocking. Our steaks arrived, all hacked into pieces- it was obviously done so to disguise the terrible cut of meats they used. Every single bite of the steaks had hard gristle and thick undercooked fat. Even the chicken had gristle! Every mouthful was gristle or rubbery. The pastry of the pie was burnt to the point that you could not cut into it. We complained to our waiter and she was so sweet and apologetic. She took the 2 main meals away and compensated us with 2 starters. You'd think that sending back your main meal would give the chef a chance to redeem themselves, but what we got was literally burnt, black toast, with a very sad tuna salad. The tables around us were all complaining about their food, so the atmosphere was tense and unpleasant. Who ever is the chef, they should go back to learning the basics and stop buying in cheap cuts of meat.

Exquisite French cuisine, tasty and beautifully served. Beautiful views on Stellenbosch mountains. Great wine - estate wine, but also other estates' wine. Make sure you have time after your meal to visit the on site glass museum, with friendly and very knowledgeable and enthusiastic Delene to tell you about this beautiful collection of glassware and art works. Even Salvador Dali!

The Manor Kitchen at Lanzerac Wine Estate in Stellenbosch exudes timeless elegance and culinary mastery. Set amidst lush gardens and vineyards, the restaurant offers a refined atmosphere where guests can savor exceptional cuisine while embracing the estate's heritage and innovation. On Saturdays, visitors can indulge in an opulent high tea featuring a variety of delectable treats, from savory plates to sweet delights.
Finally got the chance to visit the well known Manor Kitchen at Lanzerac wine estate. I must say that this establishment deserves its 5 stars. Service was exceptional, the attention to every little detail was spot on. We made a reservation and got greeted at the door and was guided to our seats. The waiters introduced themselves and we got on ordering. The appetisers were very good, mains as well as desserts. Had the crispy pork belly for starters, very nicely done. We had it with a lovely bottle of Cab and the food all arrived at well paced intervals. The venison (mains) was a great option, very nice and tender and paired very well together. The dessert was a mango cheesecake with some ice cream on the side which I did find a bit too sweet. I must definitely say that this place lives up to its reputation and is very well worth it! Great job and can’t wait to be back soon :-)
Jiaun — Google review
One of the most beautiful places we have ever visited. The entirety of Lanzerac is so rich with history. We immediately thought "this experience is going to be magical". The Amuse-bouche (watermelon gazpacho) was light and flavourful. The bread and butter was delicious. Our starters, admittedly, weren't mind blowing - I think we expected a lot given the visuals of the establishment and the look of the menu. Though the food was a bit bland. Our mains were flavourful and aesthetically plated. The venison wellington was a little tough and not served with a steak knife. Dessert was our absolute favourite. The wait for each course was incredibly long. We probably spent 30 minutes actually eating and around 2 hours waiting for dishes. Overall, it was a good experience but the service was slow.

This is a restaurant with a rich history that it’s not running away from. Manor Kitchen is honestly ‘Rustic’…but with a healthy serving of Sophistication. The flagship Lanzerac eatery seamlessly manages a delicious balance of sophistication and simplicity – from their Sunday lunch to the decadent Afternoon Tea, and meals such as breakfast and dinner. Its breakfast is a humble brag born of excellent quality ingredients, adding trusty brunch & breakfast picks to the menu, and having a dependable team in the kitchen. If you’re parched or pacing yourself, there’s a good drink to dive into! The estate’s own varietals are great for seasoned wine lovers, as well as those getting their first introductions.

I celebrated my birthday here with the high tea on a Saturday afternoon. The staff were lovely and attentive. The food was of a good portion, and tasty, and they made the appropriate adjustments for those with dietary requirements without a hassle. The room was beautiful and bright, and there was an incredible piano player who added to the ambiance.
Wambui K — Google review
I recently made the journey from Cape Town to Stellenbosch to try the seven-course dinner paired with Lanzerac’s award-winning wines at Manor Kitchen. It was a lovely experience and a wonderful value. The dishes were creative and inspired and paired nicely with the wines. The tuna tartare dish was one of the best bites I’ve experienced in my culinary life. My only constructive feedback, which I’ve shared with the establishment, is (1) for the bread course, the clay pot needs to either cooled longer before being served or come accompanied by some type of mitt for diners to hold it with while removing the bread. It was fingerprint melting off your hands HOT. (2) Some of the wines were too cold when served and did not develop their full flavor profile until the end of the respective dish. We appreciated the sommeliers’ openness to discuss this (she is fabulous!) (3) Lastly, children talking loudly, singing, and running around grabbing the backs of chairs in the mostly empty dining room like it was a playground was highly disruptive to the elevated experience. Neither the staff nor the parents visibly did anything to curtail the unruly behavior. For the time and money spent on this experience, an adult atmosphere would have been greatly appreciated. Overall, I recommend this experience.

The setting is beautiful. The trees and squirrels running on the lawn make it a peaceful and idyllic place to go for a great lunch staff and service is friendly and professional. The food and wine selection is diverse with something for everyone. Beautifully presented food that tastes so good. It is a bit expensive but it was worth every cent.

Eike by Bertus Basson is a culinary tribute to South African heritage and flavors, reinterpreted with a modern twist. Located in a historic building on Dorp Street in Stellenbosch, known as 'Die Eikestad' or The Oak City, the restaurant showcases traditional South African cuisine while embracing the country's cultural diversity. Chef Bertus Basson's menu reflects his commitment to elevating local gastronomy onto the global stage.
Each exquisite course gives way to another, more delicious, plate. The taste combinations were unique, bold fresh flavors from the fish and meat, with subtler supports from tiny roe, finely cut green scallion, shaved salted fish. The sweet peaches and cheese course was sensational. Staff were friendly, welcoming and unpretentious. I felt very comfortable and at peace to enjoy the flavours.

Cosy little restaurant with wonderful service. The food was not entirely to my liking, but I could appreciate that it was a difference in taste, not quality. The head chef takes exceptional pride in his work and the dishes were inspired. Recommend for an interesting dining experience.

Dining at Eike by Bertus Basson in Stellenbosch was an unforgettable experience. The restaurant is located in a charming historic building on Dorp Street, offering an intimate setting with just 30 seats. Chef Bertus Basson has truly mastered the art of combining fresh, local ingredients with modern techniques, creating a fixed menu that celebrates South Africa's rich culinary heritage. The dishes were absolutely exceptional—like the bobotie tartare and springbok with Jerusalem artichoke foam. Each plate told a unique story of the country’s diverse flavors and history. The service was impeccable, and the wine pairings were perfectly curated, enhancing the entire meal. Overall, Eike by Bertus Basson is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience authentic South African cuisine in a refined and welcoming atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend it. Worth the trip. Delicious experience and new interpretation of local classics.

A great restaurant. I highly recommend. Serves a four course tasting menu of high quality food. For a London tourist, the quality and experience for the price was excellent. Not to be missed. I went with the wine pairing option and the total price was R1300, approx £60. If I went again I would probably go with my own wine choices. They were all good, but inevitably, preferred some more than others. The head chef came round and talked about each of the dishes as they were served, which was a nice and unexpected touch.

What an experience. A candle made out of beef fat & burned onion ash to be enjoyed with bread; genius. The ostrich tartar was heavenly. My husband loved the mussels with its curry flavour. Service out of this world.

Fantasmagories!!! Easily the best meal I ever had. From the moment we walked in to the last bite we were impressed. Each dish was unique. And how they manage to generate so much flavour from a sauce is beyond me. My son's, who is studying to become a chef, evening (year in fact) was made when he went for a kitchen and behind the scene look. The professionalism and enthusiastic manner in which his questions were answered is commendable - thanks Chef Astrid Although they didn't have a wine pairing with each dish the MC recommended some wines to compliment the meal as we went along - excellent choices!!! Great experience 👍 👌 👏

Absolutely gorgeous place. Booking process was easy and swift. The views are to die for and the service was great. The only issue we had is we kept getting flies in our table and they had no plan in place to assist with the flies issue. We also couldn’t taste different wine pairings, they said a table can only do one pairing, which didn’t make sense cause how do you expect different people in a table, with different wine preferences to all try out a similar wine option, when you have a variety of pairings on the menu. The beauty of the place made up for this inconvenience but I still don’t understand why you have this clause up as it limits one’s experience entirely. We also spotted a roach in the ladies bathroom, which was also not expected.

The tacos are lovely it is almost always on the lunch agenda for Tuesdays. Fresh and wholesome ingredients with lazy cooked pulled pork as well as well as delicious chicken or beef options. The beer and hard drinks are great and a wide variety is offered. The vibe in the restaurant is great and it can get quite full on weekend nights. I’m a big fan of my local Tiger’s Milk so was keen to try this one out. I appreciate the friendly service but unfortunately found the burger a bit dry, both the bun and the coleslaw that the burger was served with. The mac and cheese balls got good reviews though. And the chipotle aioli is my new favourite dipping sauce.

After passing by Tigers Milk a lot, my wife and I finally decided to give them a try and we had a very good experience. Their service was about the fastest I have experienced in my life, every time we ordered something it was there quicker than we expected. The waiter was also very friendly and attentive. We shared a portion of nachos as well as a pizza. Both were tasty, but the nachos portion on its own would not have been enough for me. They are a bit pricey, but we were lucky to arrive there during happy hour (2 drinks for the price of 1) which includes selected house brand drinks such as their Tigers Milk Lager and Part Wolf Pilsner.

INCREDIBLE service at Tiger's Milk tonight. Our bubbly waitress Zoë made our entire experience enjoyable. Serviced with great recommendations, reminders of all of the wonderful specials, fast orders and regular check-ups, our dining was great from start to finish. We started off with the the Pineapple Express cocktail and then enjoyed a few Crazy Cranbuchas (Zoë's recommendation and my new favourite cocktail!). For a light snack, we ordered Party Parcels (jalapeño poppers pictured) which were incredibly tasty, spicy and crispy. A staple for a night out. For mains, we split a Cheese and Mushroom Burger and F.A.B.ulous Pizza with a side of chips and onion rings. The burger was tasty and melted in your mouth, with such a flavourful sauce. The pizza was thin-based, crispy and full of toppings. The sides were fresh, crisp and deeelicious. We look forward to returning to the Stellenbosch branch and hope to be served by the lovely Zoë again. Thank you for bringing such good energy to a fun night out!

Nicely decorated, real rustic feel. The bathroom design is a bit questionable. I had the halloumi salad (without the halloumi due to intolerance). It was delicious, however, I think the aubergine should be sliced smaller to ensure thorough cooking. Their coffee is velvety, and they do serve almond milk.

Deli was busy, but the waiters was well trained & friendly. a Beautiful setting and the Estate are well manicured. a Definite yes to visit again

Our first visit to the Deli at Lanzerac since last year. They have doubled their seating capacity with a lovely upstairs area. They have an extensive breakfast and lunch menu with affordable pricing. Our chicken livers and breakfast bun was lovely and priced in line with other eateries, but the Deli includes a great location and warm atmosphere. Our waiter Cee Jay was friendly and efficient. Definitely worth a visit.

A very beautiful place. Got seated outside but it was still warm and comfortable with outdoor heating. Our waiter, Lucky, was very friendly and informative on the wines. The food was delicious and will be coming back for the coffee milkshake.

It's always a pleasure to dine at the Lanzerac Deli. The staff are friendly and attentive. The outside patio has unmatched ambiance with the sun setting over the vineyards and trees all around. We ordered the charcuterie board and were not disappointed. It includes a wide variety of meats and some delicious condiments. I will definitely visit again.

Wow! The food and beverage offerings at Lanzerac deli were spectacular. We ate a delicious light meal despite needing strict gluten free diet. The iced tea was unique and memorable. We loved the squirrels
Joanne B — Google review
Would give a zero - but the option is mot available…as the service was. We received a recommendation from a well-known winery, where we had exceptional service, suggesting that we visit Lanzerac for its great atmosphere, food, views, and overall experience. Unfortunately, our visit turned out to be a major disappointment from the moment we arrived until we left. Initially, we weren't seated right away, despite there being two hostesses at the door. One hostess eventually arranged a seat for us at a work desk, even though several other tables were available and not reserved. To make matters worse, two people who arrived after us were given a comfortable seat, as they didn’t want to sit at the “working desk.” While we understood that we hadn't made a reservation and accepted this, things only worsened from there. We ordered wine tastings, but only received half of what was promised, with a poor presentation. To make matters worse, there was no waiter around to attend to us. We sat there for an extended period, wanting to order drinks but without any service. Long story short, we never received the rest of our tastings. We requested the bill, paid an 11% tip, and left to find another place to enjoy a drink and food.

Great food! Amazing views. You can walk around and soak in the beauty of a classic vineyard.

The Lanzerac Hotel & Spa is steeped in history dating back to its establishment in 1692. Old world charm and a unique Cape heritage are entwined in a relaxing and beautiful area of the Stellenbosch wine region.

Dance club
Nestled just outside Stellenbosch, Opskop Dans is a vibrant dancehall that captures the essence of sokkie culture, beloved by many Afrikaans locals. This lively venue offers a unique nightlife experience where students and young professionals can unwind after a long week. While dancing to upbeat sokkie music is central to the fun, you don’t need to be an expert; newcomers often find themselves picking up the moves on the spot!
My favorite place to go dancing. Contrary to popular belief not only Afrikaans music is played. There is a reasonable variety. Great large. Large dance floor. Small entrance fee but free before 9 pm. Opskop has a bar, but strick rules of no drinking on the dance floor. Amazing place to make memories. Life filled place especially for students.
Anna B — Google review
If you have a fun crowd of people with you it will be fun! Usually R20 entrance fee. People that come here are generally very friendly and you will definitely learn to sokkie (dance)! Bar staff is also friendly but unfortunately there is not the biggest selection of drinks to choose from. You can however bring in your own drinks (if I'm not mistaken) and just pay a fee.
Jolandi J — Google review
If you're someone who likes to tear up the dance floor to a variety of sokkie music or the occasional EDM song this is a good place to be. For the people who prefer the pub vibe, there's a bar and seating outside as well as inside.
Juandré B — Google review
Opskop is a nice dance place, never over crowded with a large dance floor and a outside deck. Been going there for years. They often don't have a dj playing and only a preset Playlist. Friends enjoy it as it's out of town and doesn't seem to attract bad elements. Place can do with some fans to cool down the dancers and circulate the air.
Daniel K — Google review
You hear a lot about opskop as a university student. En experience at Opskop is very much dependant on your idea of fun. You need to like sokkie music, but being able to dance is not a prerequisite. You pick it up as you go. It's not like the other clubs in the area. The refreshing thing I experienced, is that because it's out of town and you have to drive most people are actually sober (or less drunk). It's a very sociable atmosphere. There's a R20 entrance fee, but it's totally worth it. The Stellenbosch dance society attend often and they're fun to watch and learn from.
Andi W — Google review
Opskop is a great hangout for the young crowd. Here students and young working professionals dust of the weeks grind and stress. It is one of the few places one can go sokkie (a dance that is done with a partner to mostly Afrikaans music). There is a great chill area outside, couches and a TV for those catching their breath or not interested in dancing. The bar is reasonably priced and there is no corkage charged. The entrance fee is R20 and free before 9pm. The only disadvantage of this hangout is the location. It is 10km outside of Stellenbosch so one has to drive or uber to get there.
Sian B — Google review
I love spending an evening at opskop. They play the best afrikaans tunes. Great vibes and a cash bar. Safe and an ideal place to spend a fun evening with a couple of friends.
Emma H — Google review
A great place to spend a night dancing! There are lots of Stellenbosch students, and it's a great vibe. They play great sokkie treffers, and good English music to party to as wellwell. Just a warning: it gets LOUD.

Fool's Gold Social Bar is not just a typical hangout spot, it's a hidden gem for an unforgettable dining experience. The bar offers an exceptional Asian fusion menu with generous portions that have become local favorites. The udon noodle soup is a must-try and pairs perfectly with their refreshing cider. Despite the crowd, the atmosphere remains great and the drinks are reasonably priced. Additionally, the diverse music selection adds to the overall enjoyable experience at this unique social bar.
A truly wonderful hidden gem in Stellenbosch. The vibes, the food, the music, the service - everything is truly amazing. The decor is beautiful and the music on a Sunday makes for a truly vibey experience. We had the birria tacos and lamb flat bread and it was all super tasty. Will definitely be back to try the other food options. I highly recommend the Mexican club sipper cocktail which was absolutely to die for! Thanks to Kirsty for the lovely service.

Located above the De Akker pub and restaurant, Fool's Gold Social Bar is a bit of a hidden gem. With its unassuming entrance, it can be easy to miss. During the day, it has a more relaxed atmosphere with a classic cocktail bar vibe. However, I visited on a Saturday night when Fool's Gold transformed into a bustling nightclub. It was packed with people and had an electric atmosphere. It was clear to see that this is a popular spot on the Stellenbosch party scene. As an added bonus, all the staff I interacted with were friendly and efficient. If you're looking for a great nightclub in Stellenbosch, Fool's Gold Social Bar is definitely worth a visit. I will definitely be returning during the day to try some of their cocktails and experience them for myself.
Dewald R — Google review
My experience at Fools Gold left a sour taste. I came with my friend group and the only black friend in our group was treated like a suspect the moment we arrived. The bouncer questioned him like he was trying to sneak in — double-checking ID, demanding to know if he was “with us,” and staring him down like he didn’t belong there. We thought maybe it was a one-off — until we saw how he was treated the rest of the night. Cold service, side-eyes, and not a single apology or acknowledgment when he said something. Instead, a staff member told him, "Maybe you’re just reading too much into things." That comment sealed it. Classic gaslighting, making someone feel like they’re imagining a real issue. I don’t care how trendy or popular this place is — if they can’t treat all guests with respect from the door to the bar, they’re not worth your time. Blatant racism.
Nome R — Google review
I genuinely had one of the best burgers ever at Fools Gold recently. Their smash burger is packed with flavour, it’s a proper smash burger with two Pattie’s, juicy and perfect thickness as well as seasoned to perfection. I’ve had a lot of burgers in and around Cape Town and this one definitely takes the cake. The brioche bun was fresh and the sauce that comes for the chips was also insane. Like damn shout-out Fools Gold they cooked with this burger. I also had the loaded fries on another day - the chipotle crema and added Pulled Beef and which came at an extra cost- but sooo well priced and really generous portion. This is my new favourite restaurant in Stellenbosch. The ingredients are so fresh. Not an overly complicated menu which I really like too. Always a vibe, immaculate service with really friendly staff. Music is always on point. Lots of specials during the week are also such a plus- their cocktails are spectacular too. Shout out guys
Kitty O — Google review
I am utterly disgusted and disappointed with Fools Gold. They are unprofessional, racist, and treat people with zero respect. We were three coloured people just trying to enjoy our night. We arrived at 21:15, and after about an hour my fiancé went outside for a smoke with a white friend. When they returned, the staff demanded that only my fiancé pay an entry fee—even though he was already inside. The manager even came onto the dance floor to pull him away while we were dancing, just to force him to pay. I asked why the white friend wasn’t also asked to pay, since both of them had stepped out. The answer was clear: unfair treatment. To make matters worse, all the black staff were working outside, while only white staff were behind the bar. This says everything about the kind of place Fools Gold is. No one at Fools Gold took responsibility or even tried to fix the situation. Instead of enjoying our night, we left feeling humiliated and unwelcome. We ended up at Punked, and the difference was like night and day—the vibe was great, and the staff treated everyone with respect. Fools Gold will never see my face again. The name says it all: Fool’s Gold—fake, cheap, and not worth it. I strongly recommend that people avoid this place and rather support venues that actually value their customers.
Zena L — Google review
Nothing like being told ‘all flatbreads are 50% off’ by the waitress and have it on your instagram, only to find out that apparently ‘all’ doesn’t actually mean all. Even after she spoke to the manager, he refused to do anything. Misleading, disappointing, and a sure way to lose customers. If you enjoy paying full price for something you were promised at half price, this is the place for you. As an establishment that is clearly doing well you’d expect them to keep their customers happy and just give the discount?
Amelia W — Google review
Stopped at Fools today - cozy vibe, fair prices, and the food hit the spot. Kira looked after us with friendly, no-stress service and a couple of spot-on menu tips:). Easy place to recommend; I’ll be back.

Had such a lovely Sunday brunch with delicious mimosas and great food. The dj’s created a wonderful vibey atmosphere and our waitress, Thabo was super helpful and sweet!

Entourage Stellenbosch is a vibrant two-level venue that exudes a relaxed nightclub atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a fun night out. With affordable drinks and an impressive music selection, it's no wonder that locals—and even visitors from Cape Town—flock here to enjoy the lively scene.
