This restaurant, once a museum, is now a truly special dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious, made with the freshest ingredients. It’s easily one of the best and most flavorful meals I’ve had in South Africa. The setting is simple yet poetic, and the service is excellent. A hidden gem worth discovering. A special thank you to our waiter, Tinashe, for his kind service and warm hospitality. He truly made our experience even more enjoyable.

We had an amazing dinner! The butternut risotto was creamy and perfectly seasoned, and the beef filet was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere with the fireplace made the evening truly special. Highly recommended!

We had a great dining experience. This restaurant is more to the fine dining side. We had said menu, which is basically three meals from the menu. - starter main and dessert. The restaurant offers single wine yard wines, but luckily, they are very good I would say that one of the best restaurants in town

What a lovely experience! We arrived early for our booking and Tinashe gave us the big tour - telling us some of the history of the building and the town. Then we were treated to the chef’s delicious fare - mussels and carpaccio as starters followed by the braised lamb ribs. Overall a very pleasant evening- nice people, food and wine. A big yes from us.

Dinner in a heritage property on a cold winter’s night on a perfectly positioned table in front of the fireplace. Initially we were the only guests, service was good and the tasty starter (soup) arrived quickly but the main course took forever after more guests arrived, requiring two visits to the kitchen to chase up. The food was very good and we had an excellent bottle of Springfield wine.

If I could give a 6 star, I would. We recently dined at La Sosta for their Italian-inspired fine dining course, and all I can say is—WOW. It was truly one of the most memorable food experiences I've had so far. As someone who deeply appreciates good food, this is a meal I'll be talking about for a long time. The service was impeccable; the staff were not only attentive but also highly knowledgeable. It's very clear that the chefs are masters of their craft. Their flavor pairings were unique and inventive with clean, honest flavors, really reflecting their passion for what they do. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, creating a romantic and charming atmosphere. We will most certainly be coming back for more! Highly recommend!

A comfy room with a marvellous breakfast and lovely host. Shower is really nice. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed, we could dine in Sunday and it was very tasteful. Nearby alternative restaurants Christelle and Korenlands are available and offer tasteful menus.

Nothing special. Just a place to spend the night. Owner never bothered to make an appearance. Breakfast server friendly. Breakfast average at best. Room blah without design appeal or comforts. I would not stay there again. Overpriced for the product.

La Sosta is a very nice guest house with the bonus of having a restaurant on-site. My host, Lolla, was friendly and welcoming. The room was cosy, with a comfy bed and well-decorated interior. I liked the Dilmah tea and filter coffee provided, and the hot water bottles and electric blankets were a nice touch. An aircon would have been useful, but Lolla quickly brought me a fan, which worked well. There’s also a great swimming pool to enjoy. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay.

On arrival, the location of reception is not immediately obvious. The rooms are clean, neat, private and adequately laid out.

Portion sizes are generous, which is a pleasant surprise in fine dining. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making you feel at ease the moment you step in. La Sosta strikes the perfect balance between quality, ambiance, and value. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.

We had a lovely lunch here. A beautiful, peaceful setting where you can sit on a deck overlooking the river, and watch sunbirds come to drink nectar from their feeder. Service was friendly and efficient. A restaurant we would definitely return to!

What a stunning venue! Peaceful and tranquil – you can even hear the gentle flow of the river. The waiter was exceptionally friendly and made the experience truly pleasant. The food was flavourful prepared.

Stunning location, with seating options inside, outside in a courtyard and on a wooden deck overlooking the river. Loadshedding while we were there, so a few menu items were unavailable, but service was friendly and welcoming anyway and a plan was made. We had a wonderful breakfast and will certainly be back.

Fast and friendly service of delicious food. The menu is printed in both Afrikaans and English, with a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dessert items. I had a breakfast ratatouille, which was fragrant and well seasoned with two perfectly poached eggs. The tables are under shady trees or on a deck overlooking a river. The tables are also well spaced (not crowded together) , which makes it ideal for the Covid conscious and quite serene. We asked before hand if our little dog was allowed, and they said yes. The parking is also quite convenient. The portions are satisfying and not over priced. Overall, it was a very nice experience.

My wife and I visited the Koornlands Restaurant tonight. It‘s a very lovely restaurant with great service and amazing food. We had beef fillet and chicken curry. Both were absolutely amazing. Highly recommended!

My partner and I ate here on our way over to George. Some of the best food we've had since arriving in SA. The Ostrich and Malva pudding were particular highlights. Both the waiting staff and Marianne were so welcoming, it felt like eating at home, just with much better food.

We had dinner at Koornlands and it was sooo delicious! The service has also been impeccable. Highly recommend coming here. ☺️☺️

What a perfect evening at Koornlands. We had a wonderful dinner with Kudu Carpaccio and the Springbok loin. Also with a wine. Ver tasty and helpful service when ordering. My recommendation for this lovely restaurant.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing dinner at Koornlands. The chef and owner is a very sweet and friendly Dutch woman, since we were the only two clients that night she came to our table to have a little chat. As a starter we had a crocodile carpaccio which was really good. As our main course my girlfriend had a tagliatelle springbok ragout (very tasty) and I had a tasting plate of 3 different meats (see picture). It was ostrich, springbok and warthog and all three of them were amazing and really tasty! If you want to taste African food we cannot recommend this place enough!

Romantic, relaxed vibe with a sense of adventure... African inspired menu prepared by Chef Marianne, adding her own delicious twists to each dish, garnished with culinary beauty. She comes to greet each customer before they leave, adding to the personal touch of the experience. Pricey, but definitely worth the try.

We read through the reviews below and after having dinner there tonight ourselves I can truly say: one of the best restaurants I have been to during my holiday in South Africa with the best service! The ladies were friendly, knowledgeable, funny and so kind. The three course dinner was outstanding, delicious food and served to nicely. Food was really good. Staff were attentive and available. Starters were just the right portion and tasty. Think the souffle was slightly overdone. Mains were great especially the venison trio. Not great at social distancing. Place has a beautiful setting and ambience. Should try if in the area.

Set in a historic building on the main road through Swellendam. Food is prepared by one the owners who happens to be French. The food quality is exquisite! A bit more upmarket and pricey but worth the experience! Ideal for romantic dinners and special occasions.

We had a wonderful evening at Drostdy Restaurant. Although we didn‘t have a reservation and they were fully booked, they let us sit outside in their beautiful garden. The food was absolutely delicious. Especially the trio of game was extraordinary and accompanied by nice starters and nice wine. A big recommendation when you are in Swellendam.

Lovely place with really good food. From the outside you’d assume it’s an average priced old Swellendam restaurant, but once you see the menu you realise it’s not. Food and drinks aren’t cheap but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our food and how quickly it came. My only wish is that there was craft beer on tap. Otherwise, worth the visit We also received complimentary soup at the beginning which was a nice touch.

Fantastic family owned restaurant in a restored farm cottage. Food is great - definitely worth the trip or a detour. We came back twice for the lamb shank. Save room for the dessert too. Malva pudding and apple crumble dessert are the perfect end to a delicious meal.

The venue is beautiful and the restaurant/store mix works wonderfully. A beautiful niche store to wander around in scattered throughout the restaurant On a cold day we found warmth at one of the many tables filled with winter sun. The coffee … was amazing … The menu is wide and offers something for every palette. We enjoyed the omelette and some coffee proving the right balance to the start of the day. Well worth a visit

Most definitely a road trip deli / restaurant that I will stop at again. Friendly service all the way, the breakfast was super good and way more than enough, coffee was superb and the food price was fair. Wort a visit

From the look of things I was hopeful that this was going to be good, I ordered the granola, huge portion but had a lazy granola choice .. Kellogg's. The fruit mix was good but I would expect more effort with the key ingredient. Coffee was undrinkable. The hygiene is concerning since there are birds living in the upstairs level. The spiced chai and freezo were excellent. Lots of goodies to buy and the staff were very friendly, it's on the expensive side. The music upstairs was loud and tiny. Overall it's was fine.

What an absolutely charming restaurant. Wooden beams and floors, various kitchen and household treasures to be discovered and bought, and some seriously yummy food served in an atmosphere that fekt like a warm and cosy embrace😍. I had the Best salad ever 😋 and my kids and husband thoroughly enjoyed their burger/wrap/sandwich. If ypu are around Swellendam, make sure you stop by here 😀

Tredici is conveniently situated right next to the bustling N2 highway. If you don’t have the time to explore the various dining options in the town of Swellendam, this restaurant is a great stop. The menu is extensive and offers many value-for-money choices.

Please take your own cutlery if you are eating a steak.Their knives are so blunt. All of them and the forks so sharp at the end it almost cut my hands sawing through the steak. Their steaks are excellent BUT you have to serve it with decent cutlery yo do the job.

We only tried the restaurant on our road to Hermanus. The place is very welcoming and you can get big pieces of good meat at a very affordable price. If you love some good guitar and rock/country music, you're in the right place as well. The best stop at random in our road trip so far.

This is a good place to watch the rugby, have a drink and something to eat. We were there on Saturday and had a really good time; first the rugby and then there was live entertainment with Wouter van Deventer. There was a really good vibe. Their pizza is delicious. Popped in there for a night out in Swellendam after a concert. Most establishments close at 9pm in Swellies. Decided to check this place for some food and wine as they only close at 1am. It looked very promising, the decor intriguing and a live band. Ordered some ribs and after 45 minutes, zero food. Waitering staff were beyond pathetic and for a pretty empty restaurant, seemed to be in a dwaal. After repeated requests to staff, we decided to get the bill. We had a journey still to travel. So we cannot comment on the food. They have lost possible regulars as we have moved into the area. Bad management and staff. The place could do with a scrub and a lick of paint. They seem to cater for their casino patrons. Won't be back!

Stay far away people. This place caters only to the locals who dont mind waiting hours for crappy food because they're too drunk to know whats going on. Many other great places in Swellendam.

Stayed in Bontebok Park and trying to find somewhere for dinner in Swellendam we ended up here. Only two other restaurants were open and fully booked in a weekday night. The menu was weird, mostly steak, pizzas and sushi. No vegetarian options. The steaks were huge - minimum 350g with no smaller ladies portion. Our only option was a shared chicken salad and a glass each of tepid rose wine. The Macaw parrot was entertaining

We enjoyed a fantastic meal here. The menu was varied with lots of choices and the food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Christelle couldn’t have been more lovely and helpful. It was an a wonderful evening and I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in Swellendam.

Do not miss this jewel of a restaurant on the edge of the town in Voortrekker Street if you enjoy good food, which is beautifully presented. The food tastes as good as it looks and is unbelievably good value for money. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. The service is also outstanding. Bravo 👏

The owner is an amazing person, you can feel how he loves his place and his job. We were actually sick cause a previous stomacal virus and he even offered us a bed to relax for some time before driving further. What a great example of human kindness after someone puking in his toilette. My girlfriend manage to try some food and it was fresh and delicious. Cool garden and place to relax.

Wow Wow Wow Perfect deck table overlooking the garden and all its beauty. The sound of seagulls and the ocean with the sand under your feet. Then the Food that is bringing everything you would expect when you read seafood platter for two. A hidden gems Let's start with... my husband isn't a sea food person but the man ate mussels & loved it!!! I am so impressed with the setting of the restaurant and the kindness of the staff not one moment was our glasses empty! The definition of attentiveness! Our waiter explained its only one chef and there will be a wait, mark my words WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!! Chef never lose your passion for cooking you're a star in the ruff!!! Unique experience that is a must-do when in Swellendam. Beach sand floors and casual dining, combined with delicious fresh seafood and sushi make it feel like you're at the coast rather than in the mountains.

However, the service experience leaves something to be desired. Booking a table can be frustrating, as the manager often claims they are fully booked, yet once you arrive, there are always plenty of empty tables. Additionally, food takes around an hour or more to arrive, so don’t expect a quick meal. If you have the time and patience, though, the food is well worth the wait. Probably the biggest let down is, that this restaurant closes at 21:00 even over weekends! ⭐⭐⭐/5

After some research we came across De Vagebond Restaurant. Owner Rolf made sure we were able to make a reservation despite our last minute address. The ambience was beautiful: old Hollands Kaap architecture with an inside that resembles an old Dutch farm. Felt like a slice of home. Service and food were also very good: the ostrich filet steak is a local specialty. First time that I’ve ate it in South Africa and I was not disappointed. Would recommend visiting when you are in Swellendam. P.S. - the restaurants serves great wines from Olivedale Private Vineyards which can also be visited just outside Swellendam.

The food is amazing! We have had the Ostrich Filet, Pizza with Ostrich Sausage and the Ostrich Stroganoff. Everything has been very delicious! The atmosphere is also very nice with all the details from Ostrich eggs to lamps with Ostrich feathers.

Excellent restaurant. The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The service was great, they were so kind to give us a table even though we arrived late, just before they closed the kitchen. Everybody was welcoming and friendly and we had a lovely time there. Thank you very much!

What a place! We had the famous ostrich steak and a beef steak. It really was something else. The meat was perfectly prepared and enjoyed every bite. The wine options are also very good. The service was amazing as well. The kindest waiters and the owner is also a wonderful person. We’ll definitely go back to this place when we visit again.

I found the food and drinks be quite nice and playful which was pleasant to both the mouth and eyes. The juices were served in beakers which looked very nice and unique. I ordered the grilled brie with figs which was something I was a bit apprehensive about initially as I’ve never tried it before but turned out to be very pleasant with the sweet figs complementing it super well. The pulled pork was also quite flavourful but a little bit salty to our liking. The staff were also very friendly and I believe it was the manager/owner who regularly checked up on us to see if we were okay with our outdoor seating as it may be a bit too hot or bright. The food also came out relatively quickly for a group of 18 (20 minutes total).

We needed a breakfast stop en-route to Sedgefield and found this restaurant in the quaint town of Swellendam through Google. It was the perfect choice. We found the management and staff to be very friendly and welcoming.The dining area has a very calm and pleasant atmosphere. As it was winter they had a log fire burning which made it very cozy. The breakfast was well made with lovely fresh ingredients and was nicely presented. There are lovely outside seating areas which would be great in the warmer weather. The restaurant also has a shop/deli and downstairs there is a shop selling beautiful organic soaps which I couldn't resist buying. We highly recommend this establishment whether you are local or travelling through.

Amazing service, great quality food and drink at a good price. Quaint and welcoming atmosphere, friendly and professional staff. We asked for a map and did the local history self guided tour which was really interesting and completely free! This place is without doubt worth a visit!

The food was really good here. The atmosphere was nice and quiet and looked very rustic and cozy. Reminds me of the old farms i used to visit in franschoek. Its a nice get away and there are even a few shops on premises like purfumes etc, amd the also kitchen and warm blanket items. Would recommend to go out for a date or a quick warm meal on a cold day.

Take a seat under the trees, and enjoy the people watching view from the deck. Friendly staff will bring you a burger you won't regret. Salty, slightly sweet basting and a plump bun; don't forget the chips! All nicely wrapped up in a deli style wax paper. Nice touch.

The food is good, the atmosphere is cozy and lovely with an indoor fire. Staff is friendly and gave good service but it is really expensive to eat there. And be aware that their toilets is located outside down a flight of stairs, so if it's raining this isn't ideal.

Lovely, quirky coffee shop in a beautiful old building. Good offerings on the menu - the roosterkoek with homemade apricot jam is a winner! Service was very slow with the kitchen not quite keeping up with the demands of peak season.

Lovely place as in venue. The food is very good. Staff seemed friendly at first. The waitress didn't know the the menu very well. She gave me at lunch menu and it was 17:30, didn't know where or what things where. She also got quiet rude and defensive when I wanted to split the bill into 2 as she didn't know how. There was no manager on duty. it got to the point where it become an argument and i had to tell her that how she speaks to people is wrong.It wasn't nice at all, I left feeling disturbed. I also wanted to buy olive oil that was sold there and they didn't know the price so I couldn't purchase it. Maybe they should train their staff.

Such a nice place to come. You can sit outside in the shadow of a big tree ehen it's hot. We had capuccino and carrott and chocolate cake - delicious!

We enjoyed lunch at the Old Gaol while being on our way to Mossel Bay. The place is very lovely and the service is such a pleasure. The lunch was ok, the cakes though were amazingly good! Try the traditional milk tart!

Republic Restaurant in Swellendam served a very tasty pizza – the base was excellent, lots of cheese and the meat was full of flavour. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted, even with just a few ingredients. Service was good. The restaurant is spacious with various seating options, depending on the kind of atmosphere you prefer. It will likely be a lovely, cool spot in summer.

Top service, top atmosphere and absolutely fantastic 10/10 food! Nothing more to say, just go there! PS: taste the pumpkin fritters :D

Very nice burger, I tried the Swellendam local craft ipa and it was nice. Nice setting and good food.

The food was absolutely amazing. We waited a while to be served but the food made up for it. Definitely will visit again whenever im in swellendam. They also have a gin tasting.

What a disappointing experience. On our way to Cape Town we stopped here to get a quick pizza. There were only 6 other people in the restaurant at the time. After 35 minutes I enquired about the pizza, only to find out that the chef was only starting to prepare to prepare our pizza. We had to leave as we were going to miss our flight. I phoned the owner who was not on site and he short of accused me for not "following the Restaurant rules". I can really not recommend this establishment at all.

The Swellendam Wimpy is an oasis on a long trip and the staff were more than accommodating four tired travellers who arrived even before opening time. There was no complaint as they opened the door for us and allowed us to be seated while they continued their routines. This especially helpful because it was the middle of winter and very cold outside. The service was great: polite, friendly and made to feel welcome, yet not overwhelming. Breakfast was good and gave the energy to continue a long drive. Thanks so much.

Great little wimpy in the gorgeous town of swellendam. This is one of our favourite stops when heading up the garden route as it has a little play area for kids and well priced, delicious food. If you have kids and are in need of a stop on your road trip, then I definitely recommend visiting this wimpy.

My husband, my son and I travelled through Swellendam to George last week Wednesday it was our first time doing a stop in Swellendam and we will be back as we experienced the most amazing hospitality, and food at Wimpy Swellendam. The portions are great and the food arrived timely and fresh.

Wimpy Swellendam is my go to restaurant with my 5yo child. The food is tops. The service and friendliness of the staff is unbeatable. The playarea is safe and my child loves it. 100% recommended.

A clean well run Wimpy in the main shopping centre in the center of town. Very conveniently situated. Food and drink was what I expected from a Wimpy.

The thing about smaller towns is that everyone is still so human and friendly - our server was no different. She made easy casual conversation and one felt welcome . The food was as good and came out super fast too.

Very nice place. I think it would be amazing in winter, but summer time is very humid. Entertainment for the kids is great. The staff are friendly and the place kept nice and clean. I think a small shop would be great to buy necessities. Bread, milk, water, etc.

Lovely place, just be prepared for some gravel road at the entrance of Stonehill for about 7km and take enough drinking water along as it seems that they use water from the river.

8 sleeper is very spacious with a gas grill on the balcony, braai went very quick on the gas. This premises uses borehole water but provides guests with 10L of spring water aswell. 3km and 6km hiking trails, river rafting, paddle boarding, games room for the kiddies, there is also archery available aswell. *Do note, there is about a 5-10min gravel road to get into the premises*. We also spotted some zebras and ostrich on the premises.

Tranquil and serene. Had a wonderful time here. Perfect for a couples breakaway or a restful respite from the bustle of everyday life in the city. Did a little archery as well! Amazing experience with a gifted teacher called Neil.

The road to the place is the pits it can really damage your vechile full of potholes and graville and is terrible, then there is only 1 small hot tub for 5 8 sleeper units we had such a bad time we couldn't enjoy the tub as the 1 unit was in there the whole time making noise messing up the place with there alcohol bottles everywhere and no one else could use the tub playing loud music , half of the water was out the tub.

Rooms or unit could do with aircon or extra fans. Nets in front of all windows would have been helpful to keep the insects out. Beds and linen were very comfortable! Light in the braai would have been helpful too. Fill and properly clean the jacuzzi is a must!!!!! And should not have been asked for.

Brilliant place to be outdoors in luxury. Great lodges, sleeping 6 and 8. Check out the website and see what's on offer. Great getaway for friends and family.

We stayed for one night in room 5 but would have loved to stay longer. Staff friendly and helpful. The gardens, even in winter, were lovely. Our bedroom was neat and tidy. The kingsize bed and linen were the best. I slept like a baby. Breakfast was delicious and tasty. Our car was given a rinse before we left. We will definitely be back.

Lovely place along a water stream. The garden is lovely, and the rooms are nice and spacy. The guest house is at walking distance from the Drostdy Museum and a couple of restaurants (formal and casual options). Also, the place has a great view on the mountains from the garden. The only downside are all the fences around it (for the views, not for feeling safe).

The bathroom floor was extremely slippery (not wet) I fell and scrapped the skin off my arm. The room was okay. Had everything needed. They didn't have any bottled water on day 2 which was unfortunate. Central location, quiet and the staff were friendly. Lovely breakfast too.

Rooms are basic with a toilet and shower which is pretty cramped. Bar fridge, safe, hairdryer and free WiFi. Complimentary tea, coffee in room with an honesty bar. The electric blanket was so needed and appreciated on that cold and rainy night 🤩 Breakfast was yum and staff are amazing.

Truly one of the best BnB I have had the privilege to stay at. Not only is it a beautiful setting under beautiful Langeberg mountains but the rooms and surroundings are so truly top class. The breakfast and service top notch and the staff are friendly and caring. Franklin the manager a real assist to this business. In all the years of staying in BnB’s and hotels all over have I ever had a manager take me to the room explain and personally show how all works and what is what. I was truly impressed. My mom and I had a wonderful stay and will definitely not hesitate to come visit again and to recommend this true gem in the beautiful Swellendam. Perfect place to stay for work trips. Sparkling clean, tv, wifi, Aircon, electricity and water. All bases covered. Simple and effective with friendly staff, nice setup and in a great location. Only gripe would be hearing neighbours TVs through the walls (not sure how to fix that) but otherwise really great.

The staff especially at the reception were very friendly and welcoming. The food is top standard. The location feels safe and walkable at night. The pool is clean and room is clean and the complimentaries were welcomed.

When you visit a new location / village you never know what to expect. This guesthouse is proper, clean and nice. You get value for your money but I expected a bit more personality. Next time I would go and stay at the other side of town where it’s all happening.

Loved it here, rooms are large, very very clean with amazing soft furnishings to make you feel like home. The electric blanket was an amazing touch for the cold nights. Pool area and the fire pit are great to gather round with friends, our hosts are lovely and warm people. I would have loved to spend more time there.

We were very happy with our stay. On arrival we were greeted and made to feel welcome. Our room was comfortable. The setting was really nice . The pool was a good size and the garden big enough for all guests to feel comfy in your own space. Breakfast was very well presented and extremely tasteful. Would love to return again sometime.

Very unfriendly welcome, the bedroom was very cold, the evening meal was a plate of something under a metal dome which needed heating in the micro wave. No choice. The breakfast was awful, eggs were solid although I requested soft fried eggs. The toast was warm bread, the bacon was as tough as old boots, I couldn't eat it and left. I would not recommend this establishment when there are so many from which to choose.

Walter and his staff excellent hosts! The rooms are neat and comfortable. The pool was very welcoming in the heat! Loungers with cushions and extra pool towels are thoughtfully available. A suggestion rather than a criticism, a small bar fridge in the room would be a great addition.

Very cute guest house with everything you need and more! Staff were very kind, offered many recommendations of the surrounding area and we even got an upgrade as we were the only ones in the lodge. Their garden offers a pool, braai area, little swing set and bonfire including seating area. Many bunny’s hopping around. Booked it through Airbnb.

This was a very nice stay. The owner was a very friendly guy and he did recommend places to go eat at and to see. Our room was very cozy and warm inside. The place have a very nice atmosphere. Just love this place. Will recommend anyone to book this place.

I have been helped on short noticed by the friendliest host called Walter. I felt welcome and safe and he was most generous in recommend local and nearby service.

Walter is a great host with a welcoming personality. Beautiful property, with lovely garden. The room is not too big but sufficient for two people for an overnight stay. Bathroom is big and has a decent sized shower., with lovely smelling soaps. This is one of the cleanest showers I have ever seen on my travels. I was very impressed with the overall cleanliness as we booked last minute. Walter also gave great recommendations for restaurants. For a longer stay a microwave and fridge would be great in room.

A lovely little spot in Swellendam. We stayed here one night on our way towards the Garden Route. The rooms were clean, tidy and secure. It's located in a good spot, easy to access the town. Only thing missing for us was air conditioning in the room - as two people who run a bit hot, air con would of been great but it wasn't a big issue overall.

This is a beautifull guesthouse. The owners are friendly and very welcoming. It is peaceful and very quiet. Breakfast is beautifully set up and they cater for vegan, vegetarians and meat eater. We had a really Nice and comfortable stay the host is friendly and takes the time to get to know you and will fill you with tips of the area. The breakfast is delicious and the bed comfortable. It’s also a very safe and calm area.

The room was very small but very neat. Perhaps we just had too much luggage. What made it difficult was the position of the room relative to the driveway. We had to walk around the property to get to the room. The parking was, however, secure behind a gate. The people were very friendly and professional. The location was great. I can recommend the Bergview Guesthouse Swellendam.

The interior of the family room was dark. There was black mold on the shower ceiling. I felt like I was in a one stop motel room instead of a guest house.

We were 3 bikers on our way home. Was too hot on the road and looked for a place to stay. With in no time we found Aanhuizen Guest House. The owner met us at the gate and had inside parking for our bikes. Showed us the rooms and around the place. Made us really feel at home. We had a braai and swam till 11pm. The owner really has an eye and understanding for the smaller details. Really enjoyed our stay. We will be back!!!

Exquisite location, very quiet, clean and nicely appointed. In a leafy residual area. Very pleasant owner. Downside is there does not seem to be any way of contacting management outside quite limited hours should there be an emergency. Perhaps just me not finding it but definitely not pointed out!!

We had the best stay at A Riverbed! Melani is so welcoming, the room was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The location is amazing, the views of the mountians and the sound of the river are just divine. I loved listening to the birdsong and the frogs at night. The town of Swellamdam was a delight.

My wife and I spent 1 night here to break up the journey, wish we had booked for longer, it was beautiful, the Room, the garden and the pool are all kept immaculate, and the owner Malarni was very friendly and a great source of local knowledge, many thanks for a lovely stay, will be back for sure Mark and Shirley.

Friendly welcome by host Melani! Clean room and a warm shower. The breakfast is in your own room, provided with some food in the fridge. The only thing I missed was a table in the room. We took the garden table inside.

A nice and save place close to the river with mountain view. Melani and her team take care about 4 small self-catering apartments. Restaurants are in walking distance, save to reach also at night. The garden with the pool is a serene gem. Perfect place to stay, we come back!

Perfection all around. Melanie welcomed me at the gate. She is such a friendly and warm person. My room was awesome. The bed was very comfortable with beautiful white linen. Breakfast was in the fridge with sausages, cheese, eggs, yogurt, juice and fruit. These were very tasty rusks and bread. The kitchen area is beautiful and more than enough crockery. The bathroom was very modern with a beautiful bath and shower. The pool is amazing and the pool chairs great. I could not find anything negative to say. I will definitely visit them again. Thank you for your great hospitality and making me feel at home.

I had my review on 3 and 2 stars for everything else but the service. After receiving an insulting mail by the Dutch owner I am downgrading this to 1 star. With that attitude you guys will not survive in this business. I paid for a suite (as per booking.com) for 3 people. You couldn’t give me that room (overbooking from your side, my booking was confirmed by booking.com) and had the audacity to charge extra for a matras on the ground for my daughter when we clearly booked for 3 people. In essence you stole from us. Cheaper room at the suite rate and then charging for a matras on the ground. 4 star unworthy. Your breakfast was also not to standard. I have had better at no star rating establishments in South Africa. Do not worry of us booking with you again. Wouldn’t happen in your wildest dreams. Shame.

We had a great time at Aan de Bergen. Rooms were big and comfortable. The owner was not at the property but made sure that we are ok and checked on us. The location is just 3 minutes drive to Marloth Nature Reserve and 8 minutes drive to Bontebok National Park. I would definitely stay here again when I travel to Swellendam.

I spent a week at Aan De Bergen with my team while doing some contract work in Swellendam. It was so perfect that we returned again a week later. Great place for an overnight stay. No milk in the rooms but Cremora was available. Room we stayed in had basics available for a night. Beds were fine. Linen nice and clean. Beautiful garden.

Juanita is the most beautiful person, she woke up at midnight to help us out with accommodation. Rooms was clean and neat, and so so comfortable. We had a very pleasant stay in Swellendam. We were only here for one night and stayed at Aviento. The host ist very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Our room was clean with everything you need while backpacking. 🙂 One recommendation though, we had the budget room and there was no door to the toilet. It would be very nice to just have a sliding door if the space is the problem for not having one. Best, Lark & Olivia

Incredibly happy with my stay , was in town for work and my hours were unconventional but they were very accepting and I was always greeted with a smile , the breakfasts were lovely and the room had anything I could need , but even when I needed anything the owner was more than happy to assist Walking distance to main road Difinitely going to frequent there again when in town💚

We had a great experience at Aviento. The room was beautifully decorated and cozy. The breakfast and coffee was absolutely superb. The breakfast menu had great variety and the host was always available to assist with whatever we needed.

Enormous historical monument status home with just two bedroom suites up a fairly narrow staircase. The bedrooms are generously sized with massive en suite bathrooms with bath and shower options and complimentary amenities. The breakfast was superb. The hostess Antonè is charming, she made us feel very welcome and was good enough to make a dinner reservation for us at a nearby French brasserie style restaurant. Safe, off street parking is available and there is a lovely pool in the leafy garden.

WOW WOW WOW. What can I say, from the moment that you enter the premises you will be amazed you are greeted by the friendliest host that I have ever met. Then as you enter the atmosphere is so nostalgic and welcoming and you will stand there in awe of how beautiful this place is. The rooms are spectacular, the surrounding and the garden picture perfect and you have to have breakfast, out of this world. I will definitely recommend De Oude Pastorie. Definitely a five star experience.

Superb guesthouse with exceptionally comfortable and spacious rooms. Very impressive attention to detail and little add ons like crisp bathrobes, quality Rain bathroom products, rusks and coffee and fresh flowers on the breakfast table. The bed is extremely comfortable and breakfast is really excellent. The bath is right under a skylight and very relaxing. The hosts Antone and Johann are lovely and very hospitable. We stayed in Eden room which is wonderful, I think Pharoah on the same floor has a slight edge as it has its own balcony. There is a lovely communal balcony also, pool and lounger facilities and a lounge shared between two rooms only. There is a cool bookshelf to choose books from and a wine cellar in the lounge with very reasonably priced bottles should you be in need of booze. We really appreciated our stay, thanks Once again.

An amazing stay! Antoné and Johann were such great hosts. We booked out the whole De Oude Pastprie Guesthouse for a place to stay for a wedding and it did not disappoint. Antoné and Johann was also more than happy to allow the groomsmen to get ready in the main house and take photos, which I believe are going to be stunning! The Eden and Pharoah room is absolutely beautiful rooms with is unique features. The Eden and Pharoah room share a communal lounge that is beautifully decorated! The Cottage is absolutely breathtaking! Filled with 3 rooms and the ability to sleep 7, a magnificent kitchen and a veranda that stretches all around the house. We had the best times there. Eden and Pharoah had both their own fridges and coffee stations with a TV in the room that has access to Netflix if you want to watch some of your favorite series. The bathrooms are beautiful and offer some complete Rest and Relaxation. The Cottage is well equipped with a beautiful kitchen that has a gas stove, 2 fridges and even a dishwasher. Each room also has a smaller fridge if you want to keep some cold water in the room. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and you just feel completely relaxed. If you are ever looking for a comfortable stay, that is reasonably priced and that focuses on details, I would highly recommend De Oude Pastorie! Many thanks!

This guesthouse is superb in every way. The owners, Wilma and Desmond were very welcoming. We felt at home straight away. Our room, more like a luxury suite, was out of this world. Very spacious, lovely bathroom. Very comfortable bed. We had a great breakfast with plenty of choice. Wilma and Desmond were very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. They even made a dinner reservation at a local restaurant, which was also very good. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone.

Very nice beds with extremely comfortable duvets and pillows, spacious room, great view, friendly and helpful hosts, the reason I do not give 5 stars: The towels are really horrible affairs, in contrast to the bedding, also I asked for a double bed and got 2 singles, I was just too tired to sort it out with the hosts.

Highly recommended by us. After several nights in standardized, anonymous accommodations, we greatly appreciated the individual and warm host qualities of Beate and Michael. They welcomed us personally and explained everything about the accommodation and the surroundings in detail. Our room was very clean and apart from a TV we really didn't miss anything. However, the internet was very weak, probably our room was too far away from the router because it was very good in the breakfast room. The breakfast was lovingly prepared, many things come from their own garden and are healthy. Here only cold cuts were missing. In the near surroundings there is everything you need: restaurants, supermarkets, a gas station, etc.. We felt very comfortable with both of them!

It is open, in a town where all the other places I tried are permanently or temporarily closed. Privelaged to be the first guest since lockdown began! Very friendly and accommodating. TV could be better but the Wi-Fi works. No breakfast yet, we will make other arrangements.

It is the place to stay where can get the service you looking for. The staff is very helpful and let you feel that you are at home. I'll recommend any people to go there. It's clean and safe to stay there. To the staff i want to say that you must go on with your good work.

Fabulous place to stay. We were there 22nd to 26th October had a fantastic time. The owners are just can't do enough to help you and the cottages are beautifully clean.

Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with this place? All I can say is, it’s near perfection, and I don’t say that lightly. The property is absolutely stunning, with every detail thoughtfully designed. Built on an inclined landscape, the architecture makes perfect use of the natural slope. The different levels are beautifully laid out, with steps that give you a nice little workout and lead up to a sundeck with breathtaking views of the mountains. Watching the sunrise and sunset from there is truly the highlight of this stay. The hosts, Isabel and Pierre, are super friendly and make you feel right at home. I wanted to extend my visit by 2 more days, but sadly it’s fully booked, and I can see why. It’s also well secured and conveniently close to restaurants. It's a 12 out of 10, I'd be more than happy to return to this place.

I had a great time at 20 on Somerset, such a nice view on the Sun deck above the Guest house. We were greeted by the owners with such worth and friendliness. I had to say everything was up to standard and above! Freshly made breakfast, served with a smile and conversation. Rooms were so neat and extra touches like flowers on the towels each morning. These hosts were excellent and will highly recommend the stay. Will surely be back when in Swellendam.

What a lovely stay at Riverside Country House! It is set right next to a river and the views of the mountains are incredible. The house has a massive garden and pool (we love having picnics under the big willow tree). Perfect for a family friendly getaway. Thank you Lynette for your warm hospitality!

Lynette is an amazing host. We were accommodated at the last minute and she really went out of her way for us. The house is absolutely stunning and I wish we could have stayed longer. The rooms are beautifully appointed. The location is beside the river and so peaceful and perfect. I highly recommend Riverside Country House for anyone visiting or passing through Swellendam.

We had such an amazing time at the Riverside House. Lynette checked us in, and she is the loveliest lady. The house is big, and its right on the river. If you're looking for a quiet getaway, with loads of space and a big garden - this place is recommended :-)
