Restaurant
Baravin is a delightful contemporary eatery located in the heart of Aberystwyth, where the charm of Italian and international cuisine comes alive. This vibrant restaurant prides itself on its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients, ensuring that every dish reflects the rich flavors of Wales. Whether you're in the mood for a classic pizza or a hearty pasta dish, Baravin has something to satisfy your cravings.
Always good food here and service was top notch! We had the tortillas to start and there's are incredible. The Ragu for main was out of this world with plenty of it. Honeycomb cheesecake for dessert was also very good. Can highly recommend the elderflower mojito too!

Sat outside, beautiful weather - cheese burger was exceptional. Worth it. Pleasantly surprised - really good staff.

Dropped in for lunch without a reservation on a Saturday, table for two seated straight away. I would probably recommend booking if you want a guaranteed table. Food is fine but I would say not worth the asking price,I enjoyed the minute steak but £24 worth I'll let you make your own mind up from the picture. Next time we are in town we will probably try somewhere different.

Visited on Wednesday, 03rd September 2025, for the second time, but first in the evening. Located on the seafront as a location, it can't be bettered. We didn't book a table, and the only one left was not in the main seating area, so we couldn't enjoy the lovely views from the rotunda-style windows. As it was, the menu is quite limited, but it is more of a bar/café, so that's fine. It's a bit pricey, but it had some stunning Pizza. Limited alcohol and none on draft, unfortunately. Friendly staff and a fun atmosphere.

What a lucky find this amazing place was. Great, reasonably-priced food, excellent cocktails and the friendliest staff you could ever imagine. Highly recommended p.

We went for a friends birthday and I had fish and chips, then a cheesecake for desert. The food was really really good and I will definitely go back

Had our 20th wedding anniversary dinner here and it was splendid. Lots of gluten free options and local bites & drinks.

Great views and location, average food but HORRIBLE SERVICE both waitresses were rude and cold. We felt there was also a touch of racism.

Welsh restaurant
Restaurant
Y Ffarmers, a pub located around eight miles from Aberystwyth, stands out with its charming rural village atmosphere. This Good Food Guide-listed establishment offers an affordable takeaway menu that showcases the chef-owner Rhodri Edwards' passion for local ingredients. The menu features options such as fish and chips, seasonal pies, and house burgers, including a vegetarian option made with locally produced Teifi cheese.
What a wonderful find - stayed in the area and managed to book a cancellation spot for Easter Sunday. We arrived early and were happy to have drinks in the bar but they offered our table to us which was fab service. The Sunday lunch was one of the best we’ve ever had out - the lamb just melted away. Absolutely delicious. Really friendly and attentive staff - thank you so much!
Katharine D — Google review
Wonderful restaurant in a tiny village serving hearty food. We started with two cheese platters to share with excellent local cheeses and a round of local gins and beers. The drinks menu has quite an extensive list of local gins, beers, and whiskeys. For mains we got mostly meat dishes - steaks, pies, pork belly, burger, all very tasty though there is room for improvement. The service was excellent. Highly recommended.
Jacob C — Google review
We were in search of a country pub to start off our weekend away in Aberystwyth, and came across Y Ffarmers whilst trailing through a long google search. The pictures inticed us initially, and as we looked at the website it mentioned it was family friendly, which was just what we wanted so we knew that we could also bring the kids along too. What a find!!! We were so pleased with the lovely hamlet setting, gorgeous decor and charming outdoor seating area, complete with fairy lights!! The staff were welcoming and friendly, also understanding that we had three young kids with us (one being a busy 2 year old). They made us feel really appreciated even though there were lots of other tables to tend to! The menu was fantastic! My husband has celiac disease and quite often we find there not much gluten free choice, but as explained to us, nearly everything on the menu is home made and mostly gluten free! We were amazed, and the food did not disappoint. We all absolutely loved our meals, including all 3 kids. We left with 5 empty plates, and full bellies. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something that offers it all! What a lovely place !!
Yasmin J — Google review
The best meal I’ve had in a long time. The Welsh lamb was so tender I could have eaten it with a spoon. Everything was honestly sublime. The desert, a raspberry creme brulee, was the perfect way to end the meal. I also loved having a range of Welsh gins to choose from - the recommendation of the ‘Pollination’ gin was excellent and well worth a try with some elderflower tonic. And finally, the service - everyone was lovely, attentive, and relaxed. It honestly was the perfect meal. And the seating outdoors was ideal for my dog, with plenty of shade from the sun. Having just moved to the area, I’m very pleased to have found Y Ffarmers - and only being 8mins down the road is all the better!!

Peaceful location. We loved the outside seating area. Dishes looked and tasted great. Vegetarian and vegan options available. Value for money is amazing. Homemade ice cream was delicious.

A lovely meal in very pleasant surroundings. Friendly service. Great food. Very pleasant surroundings. No faults with this meal. Very highly recommended. Thank you very much.

This place was recommended to us by a friend who lives locally, we drove almost 3 hours to get there yesterday. Well we weren't quite on time, but they kindly waited the extra 20 min it took us to get there (we were stuck behind a lorry!). We ordered the lamb and the pork belly roasts with the leek and blue cheese gratin, along with 2 welsh beers. It was one of the best roasts we've had in a while (especially after a very sad roast somewhere else the previous Sunday!). The ingredients were all fresh, local and seasonal, the service friendly and efficient and in a lovely building. They also sell local products and souvenirs! Well worth the almost 6 hour round trip over 2 days 😁

Lovely little place, we stopped here for breakfast and it was delicious. Recommend the scrambled eggs on toast 👌 it does get quite busy but we managed to get a table quickly. Dog friendly inside and out which is an added bonus

Really nice place but loses a star for not having mushy peas with the fish and chips ....request denied....lovely fish, lovely chips, but come on its not proper without mushy peas
Melanie L — Google review
We did order fish and chips, it is must have for me, especially by the sea side. The beach hut did not disappointed me, food was lovely and freshly made, the mushy peas with the hint of the mint and the tartare sauce to complete dish. Not to mention sea view! Perfection!
Jagoda T — Google review
Lovely food, breakfasts are delicious, lovely staff, beautiful views of the cove

The full breakfast was lovely, they also do an equally tasty vegetarian option too. The beach is fantastic spot family out for the day. Win, win.

£3.50 for less than 15 chips 🍟 🤯 12 at best. Asked the girl at the counter about it and she ignored me and put her head down. Poor girl knew the score but could say in my opinion. I know times are hard but come on like 😂 from now on I only pay when I get my food because I would never accept what I got. Pic is attached lol

We came across this little cafe on our walk along the coast and were very impressed. We had 1 big breakfast and 1 vegan big breakfast. The coffee was delicious, too. They are dog friendly so we could sit inside with a view of the beach. Staff are friendly and helpful. Honestly, for a little cafe by the beach, I can't fault it.
Amber E — Google review
Seriously impressed with the Big Breakfast, the ingredients were probably locally sourced & the best quality & taste I’ve had in a very long time, a delicious coffee, I didn’t have expectations, but they exceeded in impressing me. My daughter had the Big Vegan Breakfast, we were impressed with the condiments too, we’ve ordered some from Amazon,, I think it’s fabulous value for money & in a lovely setting. The staff were lovely too. Dog Friendly

The Lime Crab in New Quay is a popular seafood spot with a small take-away setup that often has long lines of customers. It offers an authentic seaside dining experience, allowing patrons to enjoy some of the freshest fish and chips while overlooking the bay. The menu includes standard seafood fare as well as options for vegetarians and vegans, such as halloumi & chips and vegan curry. Visitors praise the light, crispy batter on the fish, well-cooked chips, and friendly service.
Most beautiful fish and chips from. This place also had slat and pepper squid. Good price decent portion right near the harbour. The male staff members who was on till was so very welcoming and friendly. Even though it was busy there wasn't ' a long wait for food and it was all cooked fresh. They only had 4 tables outside so seating is limited but loads of benches and walls around the harbour. They provide wood forks. Pots of ketchup and mayonnaise is 30p per pot but you get complimentary tare tare sauce with fish and chips and fresh lemon
Tiffany J — Google review
We visited The Lime Crab in New Quay (S John St, by the pier, SA45 9NP) and had one of the best fish and chip meals we’ve ever enjoyed. I ordered cod and chips (freshly cooked to order) with a small side of tartar sauce, and added a portion of curry sauce. My wife went for sausage in batter and chips, also with curry sauce on the side. The batter was sensational — light, crisp, full of flavour — easily among the best I’ve tasted in my many years of enjoying British fish & chips. The chips stayed crispy (not soggy) which is always a mark of quality. My wife’s verdict: “this is the best chippy I’ve ever had.” Service was impressively quick. You order at the counter, then collect from a side hatch. When your meal arrives, you add your own salt & vinegar — a nice touch so you control how much. There’s a small undercover outdoor seating area (four or five tables) on a first-come, first-served basis, and it’s dog friendly, which is great for those bringing pets. On top of that, The Lime Crab is licensed — you can enjoy beer, wine, prosecco or even champagne with your meal. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend The Lime Crab — it’s truly one of the finest fish & chip experiences we’ve had.
David W — Google review
Brilliant fish and chip shop, the portions are huge!! The staff are super friendly and helpful. When you order food you have to wait until food is ready, when they call your name you can then put your own salt and vinegar onto your chips. We then sat and enjoyed our dinner on the harbour! Fantastic will definitely go again!
Gemma H — Google review
Delicious food, we come every time we visit new quay always nice. Freshly made, big portions for us we split the fish n chips between two, friendly staff quick service. Can get quite busy in peak holidays but well worth it. There are some oside seating around the side or sea if there is a bench along the harbour around the corner.
Rose — Google review
We visited here twice during our holiday. Both times we had excellent service and the most delicious fish and chips. We tried the fish platter which was so good. The fish bites were the stand out here but everything else was delicious too. We also had cod and scampi on our return visit, the chips where just as good as our first visit and the cod and scampi we’re also a delight. Sitting eating them on the harbour wall while dolphins swam around made them even more special.
Paula K — Google review
Absolutely amazing food in a perfect setting with amazing friendly couldn't do enough for us service! Kids had cod and chips, adults had the sea bass and chips which was delicious! And they catered for my son who is gluten free. Everybody finished the lot off without one chip being stolen by a seagull! Will definitely be back to try out more when we get to venture back out that way. Thank you Lime Crab! 🦀
Craig P — Google review
Absolutely amazing fish and chips. The White Bait was amazing. Very generous portions. The Gluten Free Fish looked identical to everyone else, not the normal cardboard like GF batter. We ate on their terrace, the only odd thing was being told to take our rubbish over the road and put it in a public bin.
Simon H — Google review
The Sea bass and chips are amazing, one of the best I have had in a while! Also the quirkyness of the town port made it somehow a wholesome experience to eat this, only beware of the greedy seagull's wagering for the chips😆

This charming spot is perfect for those seeking a genuine culinary experience without breaking the bank. By day, you can savor delectable tapas like slow-cooked beef cheeks paired with garlic potato puree or baked hake served with lentils, Serrano ham, and chorizo.
What an incredible place. One of a few I wish I could give a 6th star to. We had a lovely tapas lunch with Vermouth and wine. Everything, every little detail was perfect. Incredible cheese and meat platter, simply divine light and fluffy Croquetas, and the almond tart with cream and sherry, OMG! Simply stunning. Lovely staff too. Bravo!!
Sean O — Google review
We always have a fabulous dining experience at this amazing establishment, the new table arrangement is a huge improvement since we were last there. The food was top notch as ever, as was the Vermouth flight, the staff were also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended, can’t wait to return again and again.

Food was really really good here, but our server was not quite up to it. We were often the last to get our drinks and food and we're given one option for a dish of the day when someone else after us got offered 3 options! This aside, the food is very good and we'll be back to try some more dishes.

OMFG .... 4 anchovies (cut in half ... Congratulations to the cook I have no idea how she cut them in half ) - £9 See the receipt, don't be shy: two pieces of toast with cheese and honey £9 The third picture is one taken in Tenerife, €27 - tapas with 6 dishes, chips, omelet and salad a smoothie and a cocktail! The picture is from 2 years ago ! The server is nice here but .... In Auschwitz they were serving better portions 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 That's £32 I'll never spend here ! PS: they have lovely cheese at £35 per kilogram 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 PPS: I'm Romanian and if you want you could have this food for half the price and better the quality! You're pissing money down the drain in this shop .....

Lovely place, felt like I was back home. The food here is authentic, top notch service and very caring staff! Bit pricey though (22£ for jamón patatas y huevo and a jamón bocadillo), but I understand since they import the food. Definitely worth another visit! 10/10

Lovely brunch spot with cute in store shop filled with local products! The place is dog friendly and has great vegan and gluten free options. I had a vegan breekie and a side of hash browns and seaweed fries which were absolutely delicious! Can’t recommend enough 👏

Popped in for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. It's a big restaurant and I hadn't thought to book. The front of house manager found us a table for an hour, who needs more than that for breakfast. Service was speedy and the food was good. We were out well within our allocated span.
Bruce J — Google review
If you are looking for a stunning brunch or just an amazing coffee & cake to take out, anywhere near Cardigan, then this is the right place for you! Stunning well cooked, affordable food that truly satisfies. From a the amazing Eggs Royale to the phenomenal pancakes, with loads of vegetarian and vegan options. There is also the opportunity to take food and coffee away with you for later, with the shop right there. Fresh extremely tantalising cakes and amazing ground coffee, with superb granola to have later. We had a superb brunch and truly have no complaints whatsoever, only wish the tip machine was closer so you didn't have to go through the queue in the shop to reward the staff.
Steve L — Google review
As a big hot chocolate fan, I was drawn by the 55% dark chocolate offering on their menu. Apart from being hot, unfortunately, it did not taste of anything, which was extremely disappointing. However, I really didn't want my experience to end there, especially as the place came so highly recommended. So as I had been contemplating ordering food anyway, I ordered the eggs royale (which was kindly made for me just after the kitchen had actually closed) and I'm so glad I did! The experience was redeemed, and it was the most delicious eggs royale! Excellent quality. Still 4 stars because of the sad hot chocolate experience.
L R — Google review
Fantastic food, good service, lovely relaxed atmosphere. A relaxed, boho, very upmarket cafe, with amazing food combinations. Worth every penny.
Andrew C — Google review
An issue that's not an issue is that we didn't know that we had to book a table. Made sure we booked and both had the avocado toast. My wife Sarah had to have streaky bacon being American and all. I added the black pudding, and although tasty, I thought a bit expensive for half a slice. Made up for it with a cream filled chocolate eclair and a delicious coffee.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal to celebrate her birthday. The food was outstanding. Tammy was our server, and she was delightful. Everything about the evening was perfect. It's a lovely romantic restaurant and we can't wait to return when we are in the area again

Thought we give this a try as we've always gone to Y Seler. Food was good and looked nice but haven't wowed us - Really liked the lamb main but starter and dessert was just okay. After our mains, I headed to the disabled toilet, hoping to change my baby's nappy.. but couldn't find one so i then asked the waitor for a place to change my baby's nappy. He looked displaced and replied there's no nappy changing in the venue. There was some sofas by the entrance and female toilet and there was no one around so I asked if I could change him very quick on there. He replied rudely and said its not up to him and he will go and ask the owner. We don't expect them to come back and say yes at this point to be honest. He returned and said no (as expected), then said we can change him on the floor in the disabled toilet. I'm not being funny but is there anyone out there who thinks its okay to lie the baby down on the floor of any toilet to change the baby's nappy?! I replied "No, we are not changing him on the floor of the disabled toilet!" - and he just went 🤷‍♂️. What is wrong with this restaurant?! Absolutely ridiculous! Overall.. its just okay.

Yummmmmm. What an absolute treat last nights meal was. Perfect for a special occasion. We chose to share a number of things so we could try as much as possible, the steak, the duck liver pate and the arancini balls were stand outs but all was delicious. Would definitely recommend if visiting the area.

Superb. Staff squeezed us in without a booking and the food was sensational. Who can fault Welsh Lamb or Beef?
Rich K — Google review
The main star on the plate was well cooked and tasted good. Shower the pairing with a house salad, consisting of lettuce was very strange and did not match the rest of the dish. Really nice lamb, but you had to choose your side dish, so only mash or cabbage. Lettuce did not go with this dish. Very expensive for Lam, mash and lettuce. I used to frequent this restaurant regularly before they moved premises and the food was of a better quality and more on the plate that matched

Nestled in the heart of Aberystwyth, Dragonfly Bistro is a culinary gem that caters to vegans, vegetarians, and those with dietary restrictions. This award-winning eatery prides itself on crafting an unforgettable dining experience with a diverse menu featuring hearty pies, loaded fries, fresh salads, and delectable cakes. Whether you're stopping by for lunch or indulging in a full three-course vegan dinner in the evening, there's no shortage of mouthwatering options for plant-based enthusiasts.
We had lunch at the Dragonfly Bistro and definitely recommend it. Almost every dish on their menu is vegan or can be veganised. We had a home made vegan 'fishcake' which was really good (the salad which came with it could have been better) and an extremely good chickpea curry. Definitely try the double chocolate cheezecake Brownie, it's delicious! The owners were also really friendly.

Amazing homemade food that accommodates many different dietary requirements, great coffee and delicious fresh cakes. My dog and I always feel welcomed by Gail and the friendly staff and it is fantastic to have many different options as a vegan for both savoury and sweet! Very reasonably priced for the hearty portion sizes and the coffee & iced drinks beat many of the local prices.

We came in today for lunch and had a great experience. They have a great assortiment of fresh drinks, tea etc. We ordered the hot dog with garlic mushrooms (yum!), the noodle bowl (yum!) and the potato and leek soup (yum!). One of the highlights is definitely their chips, which are some of the best I've had in the UK, especially with their vegan mayo. All large portions and absolutely delicious! Also super reasonably priced!! The staff are all super friendly :)

A vegetarian and vegan paradise! The chef Gail is so lovely and makes everything from scratch! The food is amazing, and the staff are all so friendly. I had pasta with garlic mushrooms, salad and garlic bread. I also had a smoothie which was super nice. The food was amazing especially given that I am a very picky eater and also vegetarian. They had multiple things on the menu I would have been happy to eat and most things had a vegan and gluten free option as well! The food was extremely good value for money and the staff were lovely and recommended other places we could try for dinner for vegetarian friendly food. The overall atmosphere was amazing and very peaceful and welcoming. Would 1000% recommend!

The Cellar, located in Aberaeron, Wales, is a highly acclaimed restaurant that prides itself on using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. This award-winning establishment offers a diverse menu featuring Celtic Pride fillet steak, Menai mussels, pan fried cod loin, and roasted belly of pork. The restaurant's cozy ambiance is perfect for those seeking an intimate dining experience. Additionally, Aberaeron boasts a wide range of culinary options to cater to every palate.
We were a table of four for an evening meal. We had high hopes having eaten here several times before, and it did not disappoint. We were sat at a lovely table by the window, overlooking a courtyard and the harbour beyond. The menu was great and we could have chosen several things, which is always a good sign. The quality of the food is excellent and the service was attentive, professional and friendly. If you're staying in the Aberaeron area, it's worth the drive and the money, for an excellent restaurant.

We have visited a few times when in the area and always have an excellent time. This year we stopped for some lunch. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is delicious! I had the club sandwich which was the best I’d ever had. Perfect for families and adult groups. The staff are always friendly and professional. See you next time. :-)

We had food and drinks. Very good cocktails. Superb food. Tempura prawns, fishcakes...just delicious. High quality interior. Spacious seating. You can sit at the bar or by a fabulous roaring fire!! Staff helpful and friendly. Best bar for miles...love this place.

Absolutely wonderful meal and service. Our waitress was wonderful, my partner was gutted there was no Lamb and the lady came straight back to tell us there was one more left. Lovely meal, and we were absolutely stuffed! We will definitely be back

Luxury stay at Y Seler – Highly Recommended We recently stayed at Y Seler for two nights and it was exceptional from start to finish, not a single complaint. The room was spacious with a sleek, modern layout. The shower room was equally impressive, with excellent water pressure that made for a great start to each day. Breakfast was well worth the money, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We dined in the restaurant one evening and both ordered steak, it was cooked to perfection. During the day, we enjoyed drinks in the beer garden, which turned out to be a real sun trap, and the cocktails inside the bar are easily some of the best in Wales. The surrounding area is beautiful, but I’d honestly return just to stay at Y Seler again. It’s been one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in a long time. I’ll be recommending this place to family, friends, and anyone reading this review. If you're thinking of booking. don’t wait. It’s 100% worth the price.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Y Seler! The tapas were fresh, full of flavour, and perfect for sharing while we relaxed on the balcony overlooking the beautiful harbour. Such a peaceful spot with an incredible view. The fact that it’s dog-friendly made it even better for us. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly – you really feel welcome here. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, stunning views, and a relaxed, pet-friendly atmosphere.

We had a meal here at Y Seler tonight for my birthday. Wow! Wow! Wow! From the moment we entered we were warmly received and shown to our table. The atmosphere was pure ambience and we were attended to with a drinks order right away. We both chose the sirloin steak. It was cooked to our taste and every thing on our plate was piping hot. Our deserts were just as amazing and totally mouthwatering. We will definitely be back here again and again! We can’t wait to bring our friends and family when they come to visit!

Fab place for fine food. Went for the tapas menu in the lunchtime and it really didn't disappoint. Quality food, lovely location looking over the harbour. Reasonable price for excellent quality food. Genuinely a true gem in the heart of Aberaeron.

Nestled in the charming town of Aberystwyth, The White Horse is a delightful spot that captures the essence of local history and culture. This inviting establishment offers a warm atmosphere where visitors can indulge in hearty meals and enjoy a selection of beverages. Known for its welcoming vibe, The White Horse stands out as a must-visit destination for those looking to experience authentic flavors while soaking up the rich heritage of the area.
A lovely atmosphere with music that doesn't hurt the ear drums. There is an ample choice of food and offers on the menu. Not too busy which was nice but a steady flow of people. There is seating upstairs and downstairs so plenty to choose from. The food wait wasn't too long at at all and everything was cooked to a good standard. Clean, classy and welcoming. A great little high street pub that doesn't break the bank 😀 Great job

Plenty of choices on the menu and prices are very reasonable. However, we did have a very long wait (approx 45 mins) for what were quite simple dishes. But the food was ok and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed.

If you are in Aberystwyth, don't go to the 'Spoons, come to The White Horse instead! The beer is kept and poured to perfection and the food is so delicious, the meat is sourced from the local butcher and the desserts are phenomenal! The staff couldn't be more helpful and accommodating, and the toilets are spotless! I can't speak highly enough of this place!
Emma W — Google review
So I ordered The chippy feast... That contained fish & Chips & Curry sauce and mushy peas and Tartare sauce with a battered sosuage. The sosuage was far to small also not enough chips to go with all the different sauces so £11 sounds good but I hope they start adding more chips to the plate. Maybe the don't need to include curry sauce when mushy pease is already on the plate so they instead of wasting money on Curry sauce then make it so it has more chips. They see to waste plate space with all the different sauces is that because they don't like adding chips ? Service was slow considering not many in the pub. All that said the food was delicious and friendly staff.

Great food, we ate burgers and chips and soft drinks, served quickly, atmosphere good, would recommend

We came with a voucher that we had been given by our son, for a meal for 2. The waiter, James, wasn’t aware of the deal but he went above and beyond to ensure that we were sorted out. He was very attentive and polite and also interested in us as customers, which is a refreshing change nowadays. Thanks James for your attention.

Neat looking pub. We had 3 starters to share. Nachos were cold and not good. Wings were ok but just put on a plate and covered in cold bbq sauce. Onion rings were just average. Server never offered us plates and we ate over our napkins. Noting special here folks.

I recently visited The White Horse in Aberystwyth and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the full breakfast was fantastic. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the sausages were flavorful, and the accompanying beans, mushrooms, and toast were delicious. It was hearty, well-prepared, and truly satisfying. However, the bacon sandwich left something to be desired. The bacon was a bit too dry chewy, and lacked the crispiness that one would expect. It seemed slightly underwhelming compared to the otherwise excellent full breakfast. Overall, The White Horse is a great place for a hearty breakfast, but the bacon sandwich could use some improvement. I'd still recommend giving it a try for the friendly atmosphere and the overall quality of their breakfast offerings.

Called in one day for a spot of lunch. Was impressed by the feel of the place. We sat upstairs and had a lovely view over New Quay Harbour. Our food was fantastic, there was a slight delay with one of the meals but this was communicated to us by the staff well in advance and not a problem. Plenty of room to sit down. Hot drinks and pastries available to buy in a cafe type area downstairs which you can also takeaway. Would definitely return next time I'm in New quay.

What a delightful restaurant right on the harbour. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with such warmth and the friendly service continued throughout the evening. The menu offers something for everyone. Being fish lovers though, we had to try the specials. The lemon sole with garlic caper butter stole the show for me. My husband had the whole bream and that tasted amazing too. Thank you for a great evening. We will definitely return next time we visit New Quay.

Great little coffee shop overlooking New Quay bay, perfect to watch the world go by. Lovely staff and one of the best Latte I've ever had and food was top drawer even if a touch pricey. Cheddar and chutney sandwich was really good and the chips were fantastic. Well worth having a bite here.

We couldn't eat in as we had the dog, and all seats outside were taken. However, we ordered 2 desserts to take away, my favourite, the peanut butter stack, and a gluten-free lemon meringue pie....both absolutely delicious. The service was great and friendly. Look forward to calling here again.

Lovely spot for lunch with friendly staff We had a really nice lunch here—staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was freshly made, very tasty, and clearly good quality produce was used. We were seated downstairs near the bar, which was great as we had a pram with us. It's a bit of a shame there's no lift to access the upstairs area, which offers glorious views. A couple of small things that could improve the experience: menus weren't on the tables, so we had to collect one from the bar, and there were no drinks menus in sight. Table numbers might also help the waiters a bit. Overall though, it's a lovely place for lunch, and we’ll definitely be returning!
Ystwyth R — Google review
We had an absolutely lovely meal here. For starter I had dough balls with smokey chorizo mayo, for main the lamb and for pud the spicy toffee apple tart with custard. Everything was top notch. We've also visited for coffee a couple of times - the coffee/hot chocs have been nice, and as for the location, you can't get much better! *To add: the service was great & friendly. With the extra precautions for Covid, we felt very welcome, comfortable and safe.

Really delightful restaurant. We were worried with an early booking at 5 it might be a bit quiet but it filled up really fast and it’s easy to see why. Great atmosphere, delicious range of pastas and wines and very attentive and quick service. Highly recommend! Only thing they could do differently is add more of a range to the mains outside of the pasta dishes, where the menu is very limited, but if you’re looking for delicious pasta dishes or pizzas then you can’t go wrong. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town.

Loved it here. The food was excellent and amazing for GF options. Had the chicken with peppercorn sauce which was all so perfectly cooked. Great atmosphere and ambience with candles etc.. the place was really clean & the staff were very attentive and super nice. The only thing I’d change is… the bottle of wine was brought over to us with the cork already taken out - Id prefer it to be opened at the table, but overall brilliant and will definately come back…

very tasty, well made food. quite a long wait time for a party of 5 and portion sizes can be quite small for a main course. all the staff are lovely and very welcoming and very generous with their cheese!

This place is wow!! The staff (all female) give you such a warm welcome and service throughout your time, that the experience is elevated to another level. The options of Italian wines are plenty and the restaurant feels so cozy. The food is authentic, a bit expensive. Although the portion size of the appetisers are a bit small, the mains are fairly good. All the dishes look tempting when they are being served to others so its very difficult to decide what to eat, but we ended up ordering a pasta and a pizza to have the taste of both. With the lights and cozy vibe, its a perfect dinner spot. Would advise booking in advance as its usually fully booked on the weekends.

Beautiful food and excellent customer service. Staff were friendly, and happy to help no matter what we asked, best we have experienced whilst visiting Wales. Two of us had the chicken special with a creamy garlic, lemon and thyme sauce which was something different and so tasty. 1 had a lamb kofte flatbread which was delicious and 1 had a chicken burger with fries and homemade onion rings which was also delicious. Would highly recommend eating and drinking here.

Nice little cafe in the middle of Cardigan. We went at lunch and had to wait 10 minutes for a table but after that we weren't rushed at any point. Drinks and food order were taken promptly and food was lovely, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The outside of the pub is nothing special and with no garden and in a backwater road it didnt seem to be anywhere special. How wrong we were. After having a personal recommendation and reading excellent reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to give Sunday Lunch a whirl here. We certainly weren't disappointed. We went in the side door by mistake but once we found the restaurant we were given a genuinely wonderful warm greeting. We were booked for 12:00 (as they were fully booked and could only squeeze us in then) the spread of food at the carvery was incredible. Beef, lamb, pork and turkey with an array of vegetables, Yorkshire Puds, Stuffing and sauces. As much as we wanted. You can even have a slice off each joint if you want! Everyone was SO friendly and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our lunch and have a good time. The meats were all slow cooked and mouth wateringly tender. The dessert table was packed with home made desserts and you can help yourself to whatever you want (if you've got any room left?!) & there's a huge jug of cream to pour on top! We will definitely be back.

I have been going to NQ my whole life and as I get older and have kids the nights out are few and far between. There are only two restaurants we booked during a recent 10 day summer stint to Ceredigion. Pepper Pot was by far the best meal we have had since eating out got so expensive. Every bite was worth every penny of the very reasonably priced menu. Healthy portions, wonderful quality fish, fresh and delicious. Always is. Consistently good food. And….the staff are local, seasoned, professional operators who understand the perfect recipe for a ‘suits all’ special meal, whilst also being able to appeal to visitors and locals alike. A really welcoming community feel with top notch food. Oh, and their live music Sundays are just wonderful. The kind of sing-along joy you just don’t get much these days. Brilliant. Especially as our rental house is directly opposite 😉 We had cocktail, starters, mains, wine each.

Desserts of affogato and sticky toffee pudding. All delicious and topped off with friendly helpful staff. We had prebooked and were glad we did it is was busy.

The front of house staff were great, good menu, apart from 2 dishes being sold out by 7pm. Lovely atmosphere the food we had was excellent. However the chef for some inexplicable reason would not swap anything on a dish, my wife has a dairy intolerance, to not cater for this these days is totally unacceptable and this some what spoilt what would have been a great dining experience. Such a shame.

Went for dinner, sadly very disappointed and below average. Scampi and chips, ok. Chorizo and bacon lasagne, awful, thick layer of cheese on top, very very rich. Over cooked dry chicken burger. Such a shame as lovely location. Staff were great and dealt with professionally.

Friendly staff, very welcoming, food good as pub should be. Only downside was a couple sat two tables away and we as a couple just wanted a quietish meal. But large group of very loud people 8+ squashed on to table between us. We couldn't hear our own voices! So finished meal and moved, as did the other couple. But it is a pub, expect a bit of noise. The Black Lion in New Quay, West Wales is a clifftop pub with 9 simple rooms that offer sea views and complimentary breakfast at the charming restaurant. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making it a child-friendly place with a small play area overlooking the beautiful sea. While some find the prices slightly high for what's offered, others highly recommend it for its quick service, enjoyable food like cajun chicken burger and incredible sticky toffee pudding.

Amazing pub experience, they didn’t have sprite or 7UP but they did have lemonade as an exact alternative. The food was pretty good. I had a gigantic steak and lots of chips. for dessert. I had a scoop of the vanilla and strawberry ice cream. We were a group of like nine or something, so there was a lot of space for all of us, which is good. We sat outside where dogs are permitted. You have to go inside to get what you want, which is a little tedious, but it’s how it is. The staff were very nice and very talkative. They had bathrooms, including one for disabled people. We gave them a nice tip, and they said it will be split among the workers, which was nice to hear. It took until I was essentially done my food to find the salt, so that was unfortunate. I wish they had different containers to carry the salt, rather than little bags, which are shoved underneath all of the other condiments. Overall, nice place.

What a lovely place!! It would be 5⭐ just for the view!! But the staff, selection of drinks and the food were all fabulous!! Portion sizes were bigger than imagined. The Fish & Chips.. my god!! It was like a Whale on a chip mountain!! Delicious!! Thank you!!

An excellent Sunday roast-I’d go so far as to say one of the best I’ve ever had. We were passing and came in without booking. Seated with no fuss in the bar. Whoever is doing the cooking really knows what they’re doing as the roast pork was excellent as were all the accompanying vegetables. All staff were courteous and helpful. Nice local brew as well. I’d unreservedly recommend this for Sunday lunch.

We came here twice during our stay in the area, once for drinks and the second time for dinner - and for taking photos of all the memorabilia of the great Dylan Thomas whose favourite pub the Black Lion was! Oozing with the atmosphere of Thomas's photos, this place provides a perfect backdrop for a couple of very affordable beers or whiskies or a tasty plate of scampi or fish and chips.

Awesome family pub for lovers of great food and Dylan Thomas. The beef in the chilli just melts in your mouth, the chicken in the curry was soft and flavourful and there's a hell of a meaty bite to the burger. There's also a park out the back to keep the kids entertained.

Best kept secret in Aberystwyth! Best coffee I’ve tasted in town. Fantastic treats and amazing friendly service! Remember cash is king 🫶🏼

I stopped for mocha and super glad I did. The coffee is lovely, very smooth and with a rich flavour. A perfect mocha, not too sweet and not just a hot chocolate with a coffee shot. They have an amazing selection of sweet treats, I had a cannoli and it was amazing. I can’t wait to try more. The staff were lovely and helpful.

Small Deli in Aberyswth serving a lovely selection of Italian paninis, pastas, and pizzas. Felt very authentic, and Agnelli cooked us a fabulous lunch. Staff were friendly and happy to discuss the food on offer. Finished with some sweet treats and will be going back to pick up some items from the well stocked deli. Best place we've eaten in Aberyswth! An absolute must if you're a bit of a foodie, fancy a delightful spot of lunch or just a great coffee.

Nestled just a short stroll from the stunning Penbryn beach, The Plwmp Tart is a delightful hidden gem that beckons visitors with its charming stone facade and inviting atmosphere. This traditional Welsh café offers an array of light lunches, including scrumptious quiches and wraps, alongside an enticing selection of cakes and bakes. It's the perfect spot to indulge in Wales' famous Welsh cakes while surrounded by serene woodlands.
We came here after walking from Aberporth (with this as our much annual pilgrimage!), and despite being a little late for lunch, we had the most fabulous and yummy baguettes (which have inspired me to make my own like theirs!). The staff are lovely and its a great spot to sit after a walk, with the beach nearby lovely and quiet (in September, cant comment for summer). Perfect for a coffee and sweet treat too, both of which were delicious.
Miranda S — Google review
Nice little coffee shop by the NT car park, obviously usual high prices apply for that. Ideal as a start or end point of your walk to or from the beach or coast path. Good menu serving the usual hot and cold drinks and snacks. Prices very reasonable considering the location and no competition nearby. We only had coffee and ice cream, both of which were very nice.
Iain W — Google review
Amazing food for a remote cafe on one of the best beaches in the UK. National Trust managed and fee for parking but well worth it. Nice walk down to the beach though a wooded walk. Don't miss it if in the area and check cafe opening times. Need to keep your eyes opened for the signs but you will find it. Brilliant experience to be had.
Brent V — Google review
We visited again today after a pleasant experience a few years back. Sadly it has gone downhill. In the summer it is takeaway only, so not a cafe anymore. This creates lots of waste and the bins were overflowing, with lots of unrecycled waste. The menu is small and about 80% of the menu was sold out. Prices were very high. Needless to say, we didn't eat here as planned and sought lunch elsewhere. Parking is available in the adjacent National Trust car park at an extortionate £5 a day.
Dan J — Google review
I have visited a couple of times recently and have been very impressed with the quality of all the food and drinks purchased in particular the Leek and potato soup was delicious, the coffee was perfect ❤️ (I struggle to find a good coffee usually) and the Tart (Plum and raspberry if I remember correctly) was very tasty. Service has been polite and friendly, would definitely recommend. I'll be back again soon.
Catherine P — Google review
What a lovely hidden gem. We had just missed lunch which was 12 til 3 and there seemed a variety of items available. We had 2 cream teas, 1 chocolate brownie and an iced coffee. The food was amazing and the jam is definitely homemade as is all the cakes they offer. Plenty of parking and toilets 1 min walk away. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Hoping to revisit to have the crab for lunch. Seating inside and out.
Emma B — Google review
Very friendly quiet little cafe with lovely food, indoor and outdoor seating. Very welcoming staff and nice variety on the menu. Worth just checking opening times off peak season if you're going any time outside the norm.
Meredith A — Google review
Fab little cafe with a 10 minute walk from the beach, but to be honest I would come here just for the cafe! Amazing range of food to eat in or takeaway, lovely ice creams and some amazing coffee. There is parking but it is a national trust car park so it is chargeable for non national trust members. There are also some public toilets on the car park. This cafe at this location can get extremely busy during holidays and nice weather but it is worth the wait.

Last night, I had a remarkable evening at Libanus 1877. The food was exquisite and the movie was enjoyable. I want to express my gratitude to everyone there. I am eagerly anticipating my next visit. Additionally, in the small village where it is located, there is an Animalarium and a converted chapel cinema for rainy days. This cinema is my absolute favorite place to watch movies because the popcorn is always freshly made and warm.
I was told on our half term trip to Borth that we were going to the cinema. My partner knows the owners of the caravan we rented, and it was recommended for us too. Weird I thought a cinema on holiday?! Basically I have never visited a cinema like this and it was amazing. The seating was comfy, and I didn't miss anything about our local cinemas at all. The way we were booked, the building, and the screen room were all amazing. Really interesting place to visit and you can watch the latest blockbuster as well.
James K — Google review
Really lovely cinema. Lovely service, really small but seat are so comfortable with loads of leg room. They have done an amazing job at this place and made it so homely and modern. Amazing place and can't wait to go again and watch another movie. 5/5
Matt C — Google review
Food is exceptional. Had a Sunday roast with featherblade of beef which fell apart. You pay a few pounds more than other places but in my eyes it is well worth it, probably the best restaurant in Borth. Also watched a film in their cinema which was great. We watched Freakier Friday, seats are comfortable and spacious, there are also pillows and blankets if you want them. Wide range of drinks and snacks available and good choice of draught beer.
Sean O — Google review
Brilliant little Cinema and Restaurant, one if not the best Cinema's we've ever been too. It has 2 screens, the film we watched was shown on screen 2, with 4 rows of 5 seats and 2 sets of 2 at the back. The seats are like sitting in an arm chair and recline. Very comfortable indeed. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Can't recommend it enough, if you're in Borth or Aberystwyth pay it a visit. We have eaten in the restaurant on a previous visit and it was excellent. Will definitely visit both again.
Steve G — Google review
We went here around 3 years ago and had a really nice meal, hence our return tonight for my wifes birthday. Got to admit, the food was top notch and probably one of the nicest meals that I have ever had. The thick Sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, the crispy onion rings, just melted in my mouth, the mushrooms were full of flavour, with the duck fat roasted potatoes just complimenting it all. Superb.
John H — Google review
By far one of the best Sunday lunches offered in the Aberystwyth area. Everything on the plate was a taste sensation. The staff were extremely helpful and yet we felt relaxed and unhurried on what was a very busy afternoon for those working. Love the decor. It feels interesting, relaxed and yet a feeling of home. The cleanliness was also a high standard. A gem of a venue on all levels and we cant wait to return to sample more off the week day menu.
Shape S — Google review
I saw 'One Battle After Another' at the cinema and it was a great experience! The owners of Libanus 1877 are also the sweetest people you will ever meet. Much love <33

Great place to eat. Formally a disused chapel, converted into a cinema and restruant. The cinema is small by comparison but very plush. We went to the Libanus 1877 for a meal. Called in on the off chance. We were lucky, they could fit us in. The menu is comprehensive. The meal was superb, and well presented. A lot of attention is given to the deatils here. And the staff were great.

Yr Hen Printworks, located in Cardigan, is a unique dining spot housed in a renovated stone chapel turned printworks. This vibrant restaurant has earned Michelin Bib Gourmand status for its innovative dishes and cool setting. Specializing in small plates meant for sharing, the menu offers a variety of grilled, smoked, pickled, and baked dishes that are both creative and delicious. The atmosphere is casual and cozy with superb cocktails to complement the experience.
Although it was a hot evening the restaurant area was kept cool with fans. The food offering is based on small plates which are varied and uniformly excellent. Between the six of us I think we tried everything on the menu apart from one dish. Special mention for the bread rolls which were exceptional and the succulent olives. Staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. All the other patrons seemed to be having a great time. All in all a very fine experience.

What an amazing find. This place is an absolute delight. Fantastic service, delicious food and a great drinks menu too. From the outside, it really doesn’t look anything special, and then you walk in to the most beautiful and charming restaurant full of character. We shared both the snack options, six small plates and 2 desserts. Every dish was standout, however our favourite from the main menu had to be the halibut. Also, the white chocolate, lime and strawberry dessert has to be one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

A fantastic culinary experience! What a gem! The food at Yr Hen Printworks was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed a variety of small plates, each one bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The quality is outstanding – clearly crafted with care. It’s on the pricier side, but worth every penny. The atmosphere is relaxed yet stylish, and the staff are warm and welcoming. Definitely a place we’d love to return to.

Oh wow! What a lovely restaurant! The food was esquisite. Each dish was very well presented and we savoured every mouthful. They were all great but the sea bream and chorizo was particularly incredible! Service was impeccable and a lovely setting. Book a table and you won't be disappointed!

Yr Hen Printworks is a fantastic place to come a dine if you want something a bit special. It was reccomended to us by many different people we spoke to in the town - always a good sign. The service is incredible and we were accomodated with a child in a pram (we weren't the only ones). They reccomend 3-4 plates per person and range in prices. The final cost was about £105 and that was with a pint and a cocktail. I think it was incredible value for money. Each course was a real treat and very interesting. I failed to take a photo of everything as I ate it before I remembered to take one! If you are coming to Cardigan, you must come here. Book ahead!

Yr Hen Printworks was one of highlights of my trip to Wales. My group of four had a fantastic evening of delicious food, fantastic wines and amazing service. They had a fantastic selection of dishes that catered for gluten free and diabetic requirements.
Gillian E — Google review
Overall a disappointing meal, the food had potential but just lacked on most dishes. The tomatoes especially, super cold right from the fridge, lack of seasoning, oil, dressing and such a small amount of peach. The curried dressing was superb but so little of it meant it ended up being like a Morrisons salad bar rather than a Michelin bib. Nicely grilled Sardines and lacklustre escabeche, two sardines but for £12.50 seemed steep. £6 olive and £6 focaccia? Nice in flavour, however steep in price again. Chorizo sauce on the bream was divine and definitely a highlight, as was the pork belly with the Caesar cabbage. Our desserts were also messed up and had to be quickly fixed, this added with the lights super bright at our table, the crashing pot wash and cutlery with the service door open, staff shouting about clocking out and having to look at dirty glass polishing cloths on the bar. Just set the tone for the final table on a Sunday night before two days off.

Great place. Staff and atmosphere was brilliant. The food was very tasty. My only gripe was the dishes were very small and it was hard to gauge how much to order. Also, not much meat options on the menu. The food we actually ordered was great though.

I had a delightful dining experience with friendly service that made me feel welcome. The starter was lovely, setting the tone for the meal. I enjoyed the hake, which was cooked to perfection and flavorful. The steak was equally impressive, tender and juicy. Overall, a wonderful meal that I would recommend!

Great meal, good to see a restaurant that does a small menu well rather than an extensive menu averagely. Prawn starter good, pork belly good, Steak was perfectly cooked (rare) and nicely seasoned. well presented, salmon also good size and well presented. All waiting staff polite and friendly but also attentive. My only critiic would be that a lot of menu items either have chilli in or are garnished with red chillies and sadly I can't eat them. I just had to pick them off. I do however look forward to my next visit.

Really like this place. We came on a busy Saturday night and had the mixed grill and the smash burger with some drinks. Afon Mêl Honey Farm & Meadery is a charming family-run bee farm located on the outskirts of New Quay. With over two decades of experience, they have been producing top-quality mead and honey. Visitors can explore their artisanal processes, observe the bees up close, and shop for delectable treats at their well-stocked store.
We visited Afon Mêl Honey Farm & Meadery today and had such a lovely time! 🐝✨ It was fascinating to see the bees and their hives up close – really interesting and so well explained. There’s also a sweet little playroom which was perfect for our 1-year-old to enjoy. We tried the honey tasting with bread and cheese, and it was absolutely delicious – so good that we ended up taking two jars home with us! The staff were fantastic too, incredibly kind and welcoming, and brilliant with our little one. A really enjoyable visit for the whole family – highly recommend if you’re in the area! 🌼🍯
Alisha T — Google review
A really lovely couple of hours spent here enjoying watching the bees at work in the various hives. I could have stayed a lot longer watching them work away! the leaf cutting ants were also fascinating to watch and learn about. We then enjoyed the honey tasting which was really well priced at £7.50. I never would have thought to have had honey with cheese but wow! I'm converted! For me i would have liked to have learned more about the bees, such as the social structure of the hive, the job of each bee, the role of the drones etc.
Libby H — Google review
A wonderful but brief experience. £4 to look around the bee exhibition and £8.50 to taste some wonderful honey's which I absolutely recommend you do. We should have done the mead tasting too but our budget wouldn't stretch that far especially when we wanted to buy a couple bottles to take home (which are quite pricey). Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. It could really do with a "bee walk" or something to round off the experience. Maybe a 30-60 minute walk around the farm, looking at the various habitats etc, with more info as you go round, maybe some hives etc. All in all though a nice couple hours
Kelly W — Google review
Simply the best mead in the world. Afon Mel make hands down make the best mead we've ever had and we have tried a LOT of mead over the years! So while we were in the area we had to visit this place and we are so glad we did! The gift shoppe is packed with all their range of mead and honey and related items all of which are top quality, we had food in the cafe which was served quickly. I had the cheese board and my wife had the quiche both of which were top notch. We then had a mead taster experience and had fun trying to guess the flavours. After that we headed to the exhibition that's upstairs and was in there for a good hour as it's full of facts, over 6 live bee hives behind glass, you can get really close to the hives and try to spot to queen! 100% recommended to come just for the exibite alone if you are in the area!
Robert J — Google review
A hidden treat. We came across this place purely by accident whilst en route to New Quay. What a hidden gem this place is. Inside is a delightful cafe and upstairs they have several (fully contained) wild hives in various forms, providing a great entertainment and educational for the little ones too. Speaking of the Cafe, there is a Mead tasting and Honey Tasting experience, the latter of which we tried. Great little place and well worth a visit.
Steve W — Google review
Good mead, a little spendy but you can taste the high quality ingredients. They have a little cafe and shop where you can try a sampler flight of the mead. I wouldn't drive out of your way for the location, it's not really a tasting experience where they tell you about the mead, more like a counter service grab and go. Nice outdoor seating and on site parking.
Sarah S — Google review
The honey farm is a lovely place to visit, a warm welcome from the staff however not really much to do there. The exhibition is well presented but very small,. perhaps half an hour or so if you take your time. The shop is well stocked with honey goodies and their mead is delicious which you can sample before purchasing. The cafe was good, and the food was to a high standard. Worth dropping in if you are driving past.

Booked for dinner the night before as we love burgers, we have had the pork mustard and welsh honey mustard with a bottle of lighthouse larger. I am Always a fan of supporting local brewers and eating establishments. The burger was ok I could not taste Anything but pork, no special flavours the chips and onion rings were sublime clearer homemade. No alcoholics drink on the menu and paying £5.50 for one beer was horrific. Also give me more of those onion rings as standard they were stunning, chap with the glasses behind the counter you were great

Tomasz T — Google review
Travelled up to Aberystwyth from south wales for the day and as a massive foodie and a very keen lover of burgers this took my fancy. Staff were unbelievably friendly and well presented. Whole restaurant was very clean and surprisingly quiet when we arrived. Could see there was a lot of reserved tables so we knew we was on to a winner for good food. Ordered the large wings to share and they are by far in my top 5 wings I've had. Huge portion. Meat falling off the bone. Only recommendation is to add more flavours. Ended up pouring the bbq sauce (which was amazing also) over them to mix them up. Went for the surf n turf burger with cheese loaded fries. Burger was cooked lovely with few prawns on top. Strong flavoured onions but caramelized ones so be weary if ordering. The cheese fries were amazing. If you love cheese then I suggest getting these and eating them whilst hot so the cheeses literally stringing on to the chips. Home made slaw was really tasty. If I'm in the area again I will no doubt be stopping here for food. 10/10

Thai restaurant
The Welsh Black Inn is a charming establishment that offers a unique experience with traditional breed livestock such as Welsh Black cattle, Welsh pigs, and Llanwenog sheep. The on-site shop provides home-reared lamb, beef, and pork along with an assortment of fruits and vegetables for purchase. Additionally, the annual Christmas Fair held in the courtyard is a delightful opportunity to procure festive treats.
Fantastic meal at fair prices. Warm and friendly staff. Fantastic logburner surrounded by acapella musicians singing wonderful songs...wish the welsh black was my local.

Called in to The Welsh Black Inn on a Monday and spoke with a lovely Thai lady to book a table for 2 with a dog for the Wednesday night. All booked in with no issues. We arrived on the Wednesday for the meal only to be ushered out of the reception into the bar by an extremely gruff, self important Welsh male and told no dogs allowed. While trying to explain we had a booking for 2 adults and a dog, I was rudely cut off and told to leave. Prity sure he was just a customer running the bingo night. Such rudeness is not worth my time so we left. On the way out we passed our reserved table? Despite dog friendly signs up and selling dog ice-cream I got the impression that it was just this particular male that has the issue. I wouldn't bother if you have a dog. Despite the response from the 'owner' this does not validate the gruffness and rudeness experienced. A reservation was made, with the knowledge of a dog being in attendance, this reservation was not honoured. Very poor customer service.

A large group of us had the Sunday lunch. We'd booked & just as well as the place was BUSY! Service was very good, plenty of drinks to choose including a choice of cask beers. For the Sunday roast there were 3 meats plus a veggie option. There were I think 9 veg to choose from, plus Yorkshires, stuffing, sauces, gravy etc. All the food was very good, and plenty of the main protein. Desserts we just about managed, but they were really good too. Highly recommended

Perfect pub location for us as we camped near by. Lovely friendly staff. Dog friendly in the bar area where u can eat as well, or u can eat at the back in the dining room. Food is good pub grub, reasonable prices. Burger was massive!! We enjoyed mixing with locals and have a lovely time, would go back.

Whilst working in the area for a week, I stumbled upon this local pub after passing each morning on my daily commute. So on a Friday evening after work at 6:30, I popped in for a pint and some dinner. Staff greeted me and so did the small group sitting directly opposite the main bar. I ordered a Guinness and lamb & mint pie with chips and salad. I tried to stroke the dog who seemed to be a resident fixture but had no joy. I got a bark at least. Not sure if it was welcome or bog off? I took my seat in the empty pub area and listened to the sounds. All from 1980’s, so I relocated to the other seats by the board games. Approximately twenty minutes later, a shy teenage waitress brought my meal to me. Didn’t engage in conversation just smiled. The meal was very good, pie was very tasty. Lamb was succulent, plentiful and the gravy was delicious. The pastry was a nice texture and the chips with salad were fine. The waitress was too shy to ask if I wanted a desert after collecting my plate. I thanked the barmaid for the meal and made my way to the car park. Upon leaving a local sat at the bar quipped “ he’s from the south “ which I found to be childish if I’m honest. Then as I crossed the car park, staff unloading groceries from a car thanked me for my custom.

Farms
Caws Cenarth Cheese Shop is a family-run artisan cheese maker located in the scenic rural area near Cenarth in Carmarthenshire. The farm produces a variety of cheeses, including the well-known Perl Las blue cheese, brie-style Perl Wen, and rind-washed Golden Cenarth. The shop offers visitors the chance to purchase these delicious cheeses and witness the cheese-making process firsthand.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Caws Cenarth Cheese, an artisan cheese maker located in the picturesque rural hamlet of Lancych, near Cenarth in Carmarthenshire. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the charm of the farm and the passion that the family behind Caws Cenarth exuded for their craft! One of the first things I learned during my visit was that all of the cheeses produced by Caws Cenarth are made on the farm itself. This commitment to maintaining complete control over the cheese-making process ensures that every wheel of cheese is crafted with meticulous care and attention to detail 👌 As I looked around the cheese shop I was introduced to an impressive array of cheeses, each with its own unique characteristics and flavors. One standout cheese was the Cenarth Brie, a soft and creamy delight that boasted distinct mushroomy and earthy notes. 😍 Another standout cheese was the Perl Las, which translates to "Blue Pearl" in Welsh. This exquisite blue cheese, crafted by Carwyn Adams and his family, had a delectably golden hue and intricate veining. It's no wonder that Perl Las has gained a reputation as one of the finest and most revered cheeses in all of Wales in recent years!! One aspect that truly impressed me was Caws Cenarth's commitment to using locally sourced milk. They utilize both organic and non-organic milk, all obtained from within a 30-mile radius of the dairy. This not only ensures the freshest ingredients but also connects the flavours of their cheeses to the remarkable surrounding area. During my visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Thelma Adams, a leading figure in the revival of Welsh artisan cheese making in the 1980’s. Her son Carwyn, who now runs the business, was an exceptional host, guiding us through the cheese shop and offering us a generous tasting of their incredible cheeses. His knowledge and passion for the craft were truly inspiring. If you have time to pop into the visitor centre and read all about Caws Cenarth history & their fantastic accolades, there’s even a Viewing gallery to watch some cheese being made!! As this is a fully functional working factory this process is not always one operation however there is still plenty of information at hand as well as speaking to the fantastic team of people! The cheeses themselves were simply outstanding. I have never tasted anything quite so delicious and was completely blown away by the depth of flavours and the impeccable quality of each cheese! It was a testament to the expertise and dedication of the Caws Cenarth team. I left Caws Cenarth with an amazing selection of cheeses too 🧀!! I was delighted to discover that Caws Cenarth offers online purchasing options, and I have already subscribed to their monthly Cheese Club. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend paying a visit to Caws Cenarth Cheese. The combination of exceptional cheeses, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the opportunity to witness the craft firsthand (please remember this is a working factory and the process might not alway be in operation) is an experience that should not be missed!! Thank you, Carwyn, and the entire Caws Cenarth team, for an unforgettable visit.

We were getting married in Llangrannog which is about half an hour from Cenarth and wanted to buy some local cheese for our reception. I hunted online and found this amazing farm producing the most delicious award winning cheeses. We went with some of our wedding party and the proprietors could not have been more welcoming. They let us taste their whole range and advised us on which were in perfect condition to be ready for our special day. Best of all when we’d decided on our order we were distracted by us all telling cheese jokes (they’d heard them all before of course) and our best man and his partner sneaked in and paid the bill ! The cheeses were one of the many highlights of our wedding day so a massive thank you Caws Cenarth Cheese shop. It goes without saying that we highly recommend a visit to the farm but if you can’t visit just buy some and you’ll taste what we mean. We’ll be back every time we are in the area.
David D — Google review
I decided to visit after tasting the Cenarth Brie at a local craft festival, such a delicious creamy taste. The farm shop is well stocked and has an amazing selection of tasty cheese and also a variety of local Welsh produce. The highlight was the viewing area where you can at certain times watch the fascinating cheese making process. There is plenty of information about how the individual cheeses are made which gives the place a very authentic and historic feel. They also offer a chance to join their monthly cheese club which allows you to enjoy special edition cheeses amongst their usual ones; they even allow you to tailor the selection to your taste. Altogether definitely worth a visit for all cheese lovers, highly recommend. I will be visiting for more cheese again very soon.

Some of the best cheese I’ve ever experienced. The shop is quaint, the factory allows you to view cheese making and the staff are most accommodating. Definitely worth a visit.

Typical farm run cheese making and retailing site. Viewing gallery to see key processes involved. No human guides available. Road access is very narrow in places. Follow the brown signs. Small retail shop selling a range of their products, however the man who served us didn’t know the price of everything. They are by appointment to the King so must have been recognised.

Didn’t get to see active cheesemaking as I visited late in the day; still a lot of information given on the process and that was entertaining. Cheese shop assistant was very informative and let you try samples of cheese before you bought them; very tasty!

BOYS AND GIRLS is a modern eatery that specializes in tapas-style, progressive cuisine. They pride themselves on offering gourmet street food paired with a wide selection of low-intervention wines and organic beverages. Recently, I decided to give their brunch menu a try and was impressed by the exceptional service provided by our attentive server. The food arrived promptly, although I found the chicken and waffles to be just average in taste.
Another simply fabulous evening of tasteful delights. Exquisite burgers with delightful cocktails, starters to die for and puddings that are just superb. Love going to this establishment. Reasonably priced, beautiful selection of all courses and amazing drinks both boozy and non boozy. Definitely up there as one of Cardigans best! Hidden away but with a car park outside! What's not to like!

We were both sadly disappointed by our meal at Boys and Girls. Although the restaurant reacted well with not charging us for fries, they were far too salty (inedible). Not a lot of choice for vegetarians/vegans. A burger for £14 which was quite bland, with the smashed burgers lacking any char was a shame. Enjoyed the pickles with blue cheese dip. Overall, it’s such a good space, but I think the food lets it down. Would much rather Yr Hen Printworks if out to spend a few more hard earned pennies than usual. Hopefully things will improve as they are brand new here. We did cancel our Sunday booking off the back of this evening experience. Update 6th April 2024. We decided to give the place another go. Very pleased we did. Much improved. Very nice to see a vegetarian/vegan meat free burger available. The pulled pork croquettes were very tasty. We had burger and fries each and shared a cheesecake too. Overall a very pleasant meal with good service. We will come again.

Had lunch there on Sunday afternoon. I ordered the chicken and waffle which was sooooo tasty and moreish. Beautifully cooked with perfect garnishing to compliment. The doughnut dessert was equally as tasty. I will have to go back to taste the other items on the menu. Superb, comfortable surroundings. A little funky, very cool. A gem of a casual restaurant worth your time to visit. Great hospitality from Mattia and Ella, Thank you! 😁

Went here for a fun little boys night with my two sons. Was quiet on the evening we went but a wonderful experience. Best burgers we’ve ever tasted, fantastic and unique wine list and wonderfully friendly hosts. An absolute must visit, the kind of place that gives you hope for the dining world!

Had a lovely meal here last night. We’ve been excited to go for a while and had been booked in for opening evening but had to cancel. We had the Beef and Chicken burgers with sides of the Fried Pickles, the Croquettes and the tomato. All delicious. The pickles were my favourite, the croquettes my partners. We had the fries with the wild garlic mayo and they might be the best fries I’ve ever had. Burgers were fantastic and will certainly be going back. We did not try the natural wine though, a beer and a soft drink meal for us. Would ask for some bottled cider options if not on tap. We’ll miss El Salsa hugely but a great addition to the local area and one that we hope will be open throughout the year!

So we decided to try the newest restaurant in Cardigan for brunch. Service was fantastic, server was really attentive and food was quick. The food was okay, I ordered the chicken and waffles. The portions are good however for some reason served on really small plates which makes it hard to eat. The chips and dip were delicious and the Ruben was also good. Coffee was delicious, loved the cups they were served in. Looking forward to trying dinner there.

Such a special little place. Our food was freshly cooked to order and was simply delicious. The leek croquettes must be tasted to be believed. We ordered a mixture of the 'tapas style' plates and a beef burger. All were perfection. The ambience is funky and fresh but comfortable. Loved it! 5stars!!!

Greek restaurant
Olive Branch is a charming restaurant located in Aberystwyth, offering a cozy dining room with exposed stone and ceiling beams. The menu features Greek and Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, accompanied by a glass of retsina while enjoying views of the Aegean Cardigan Bay at sunset. Guests recommend booking early for window tables overlooking the promenade upstairs. The friendly staff are accommodating, and the food receives high praise, particularly the Greek salad, moussaka, and baklava.
Lovely restaurant with great food. We booked late but managed to get a table at 6.00. (They do two servings - 6.00 and 8.30) The staff were friendly and we ordered a bunch of starters rather than main meals. The quality of all the food was excellent and we'd love to be able to return here sometime. Book early and ask for a window table (overlooking the promenade) upstairs. You won't be disappointed.

Greek salad excellent, Beef stifado not so good, dry beef on white rice , mousska was good , Baklava amazing and plentiful. Also sat by a window and the draft was freezing 🥶 no other seats available. After all said staff very friendly and would probably try again in the summer next time.

Great food. Plenty of our Greek favourites and some new ones. A real treat and very good alternative to mediocre fish and chips elsewhere. The window seat gave us splendid sea views.

Fantastic food, peaceful atmosphere. Great for families. Small or large groups. Quick bites or large meals. There were so many dishes to order, rare for vegetarians. Happy, helpful staff. View of the sea through the windows. We want to go again.

The place was ok but the food there was no description of what it came with I chips salad etc therefore we ordered extra chips and salad but it came with it also the amenities poor states .
Kiran M — Google review
We booked a table in advance but were seated by the door rather than in the window with a sea view - we asked to move and were permitted to. Many of the menu options were not available - especially the vegan bread and humous. Service was poor and unapologetic, meals were clearly reheated ( congealed cheese in the mousakka). A meal was forgotten and came out much later (hence the missing mousakka on the photo) and the side salad bought with it was then taken away again when the waitress spotted that a side salad was already on the table!! I’m embarrassed to say we ate there and I would not recommend.

Seafood restaurant
Pysgoty is a unique fish restaurant located in Aberystwyth's harbor in west Wales. Situated in a former public toilet, the restaurant offers high-quality fish dishes sourced from Cardigan Bay. With its small and cozy setting, it is recommended to make reservations in advance due to limited seating. The menu features a variety of seafood options that may vary daily, and the food is described as extremely delicious and reasonably priced.
One of the best places to eat in Aberystwyth. This is a very small and cosy restaurant, with very few tables so booking is necessary. They offer a variety of seafood which can be different each day. The food was extremely nice and reasonably priced. Highly recommended place to visit

Pysgoty fish restaurant at the harbour in Aberystwyth, west Wales is a high quality restaurant specialising in fish derived dishes. In a unique location between the harbour and south beach in Aberystwyth, the surrounding scenery is very appropriate to the menu and this can be seen better on the wooden veranda when the weather is good to eat outside. We had quite simple dishes of fish soup with larva bread and noodles in sauce with prawns and salmon but the taste was quite exceptional making a delicious and enjoyable meal. The drinks and deserts are also of a high standard. Many thanks to the staff for a very enjoyable evening.

Had a wonderful meal here. Fantastic food and very attentive staff unfortunately I only have a picture of their cheese platter but it was a testament to the staff's knowledge of their produce that they made time to explain what each of the cheeses were and where they were from. Made a visit on holiday and wasn't disappointed! Far from it - we met John who let us sample assorted delicious cheeses and liquors. We'd originally gone for the cheese, not knowing about the distillery! We loved the organic products - taking back Halloumi, Nettle and Chilli cheese. But the one that was utterly fabulous, was the vintage - similar to Dutch Oude Kaas. Superb! The spirits were many (see photos). We focused on the gins and it was difficult to choose from them - they were all great. But took away the original and the seaweed. The absinthe was a major find for one of our party! Many of the products are award winning and you can taste why! Added to that is John himself- so welcoming. He let us into his art gallery above the distillery and we enjoyed his company immensely. Highly recommended!

Sit outside on the balcony and you get to see the high steet. Staying in the castle, breakfast was served here. The breakfast was really good and the staff were lovely. Having been reccomended, I can understand why. If in cardigan, it is worth a visit.

Lovely place for a quiet brunch, we both had full breakfasts and thought they were tasty and good value. Coffees a little on the expensive side but also nice. Staff were a little hard to get hold of but overall very friendly. Not an exceptional brunch but still a nice place to eat and sit.

Really delicious Sunday Lunch, highly recommend. Three in the party had roast beef and I had nut roast. The accompaniments were delicious, rosemary dauphinoise, roast potato, tender stem broccoli, roast carrot, red cabbage, swede, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Very good portions, we had no room for pudding but they looked lovely.

Had lunch there today , the food was very nice , but sadly half of the ingredients were missing - the hot beetroot was missing, when I mentioned this the young lady brought me some cold sliced beetroot . There were no carrots, onion , rocket or pomegranate seeds in my salad , this was a shame because what I had was really nice but it would have been extra nice to have enjoyed all the different flavours as listed on the menu . My sister asked if she could have the creamed mushrooms but without the garlic , she was told this wasn’t possible, so she said she would have the field mushrooms with some toast , the waitress then came back and said the kitchen said they could mix some cream with them , which she had and enjoyed.

The man who works in the Starbucks who made my coffee was so kind and thoughtful. He was very polite and amazing at customer service. I didn’t know what I wanted so he talked me through my whole order without getting frustrated. He was super kind! Thank you king you are a legend

I'm not sure what's happened to this place but it has gone downhill. The service and food selection was a lot better pre covid era during my student years. I think the strongest selling point at that time was their dim sum and custard buns that they used to serve for lunch. It was better than the ones you'll find in any Aber takeaway. Their weekly menu at the chefs table was consistently delicious and filling. I was surprised to find out they do not serve food anymore at the chefs table after 1400, which is a shame since most students and lecturers finish their work and classes after 1700. Their cooked to order food menu is bland, soggy and hastily prepared. I'd give it a huge miss. You're better off going elsewhere to get better food like to neighboring food store to get a microwave meal or to a chippy shop nearby.

There was food for a gluten free vegetarian and oh, the vegan hot chocolate is good! Views down to the sea from big windows, light and airy, good ventilation. A bit of a canteen like experience though there are upholstered pods if you need some peace.

It was a lovely surprise when my friend brought me to Nook and Noble for brunch. I had a delicious, refreshing Thai style mango salad, and yummy almond croissant. Really happy! Great to have this place in Cardigan serving a variety of tasty vegan options.

This is the place to go for coffee enthusiasts. The owner knows a lot about the beans and can give you recommendations, there are beans which aren't on the menue yet. They also offer vegan snacks and sweets. Sure you can have "just a cappuccino" but I recommend going into the coffee bean adventure at this little, hidden gem. It's in the backyard of a building so not so easy to find. But the most precious diamonds are the ones hard to find, right?

If you're on the hunt for mouthwatering pasties, look no further than Pasty Pasty! During my recent visit to New Quay, I indulged in their delightful offerings, including a chicken and leek pasty and a savory chicken, chorizo, and bacon option. Each bite was packed with flavor and left me craving more. My partner couldn't get enough of the beef and stilton variety—he devoured three!
Looking for somewhere to grab a quick drink and bite to eat and stumbled across Pasty Pasty. Really enjoyed the sausage roll from here, tasty and filling, and I’m not usually a fan of them. Paid £6.40 for an oat milk latte and a sausage roll.

We stopped here to grab some lunch .. super glad we did. 3 different flavoured pasties and each one got a top rating from our group. Highly recommended.
Chris P — Google review
Having digested too many pasties over the years, we both agreed the pasty’s here were outstanding. In fact the Cauliflower Cheese was so good it entered my top 3 pasties of all time! Add a fantastic area in which to eat them, it’s a must!
Steve M — Google review
Absolutely Amazing. Friendly staff and the best I have tasted. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend visiting. Plus you can eat with a view!
James R — Google review
Very disappointed. There were 4 choices for non meat eaters so I foolishly thought pasties would be good. The spicy veg was soggy with too much sauce stuff. The cauliflower cheese and broccoli was nothing of the sort. Lots of potato ,1 piece of broccoli. Covered in grain mustard. Pastry was hard. Not on cheap side either at over £10 for the 2. Maybe carnivores fair better with the traditional pasty. I rarely leave a poor review. This left a bad taste .

Best Fish & Chips we've ever had!! No bones in any of the fish, the chips were crispy. We ate inside, lovely and clean. It's eat in or takeaway. Wish we had more days away, wanted to try the curry, if it was anything like the Curry sauce hubby had with his it was so tasty!! And the waiteress was lovely and helpful!

It's the first time I've visited Llond Plât. The restaurant is very nicely decorated with a pleasant atmosphere. The food was quick and delicious, the chips were particularly nice. The staff were all friendly and pleasant. A very nice experience, I will definitely visit again.
Shaun D — Google review
One of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Cod, chips and a can of coke £12.10, good value in this day and age. The chips were a little like roast potatoe’s, crispy and darker in colour, a little oily which was nice and the fish was beautiful. Delicious light and crispy batter (not the soggy casing cheap batter) - one of the best fish and chips I’ve had.
Harry E — Google review
We got a takeaway, and while the fish and chips were cooked perfectly, they lacked a bit of flavour - just needed a more generous dash of salt and vinegar. That said, the service was very welcoming, so if you’re in the area, it’s still worth a visit.

We drove to the beach yesterday as a special trip; my mum is 88. The service, quality and price were excellent. The fish pieces were tender and tasty. The highlight post fish and chips was the hot chocolate. Brody went out of his way to provide the perfect hot drink, deconstructed to make transportation to our vehicle trouble-free and enabling my lovely mum to scoop into her cup as much cream and as many marshmallows as she wanted. She was so happy and grateful, as are we. A shout out to Brody and the wonderful, dedicated takeaway staff.

Had a recommendation from locals to go to this place for nice fish and chips last Wednesday. The chips were all greasy and had mostly bits of chips and the fish had a lousy taste and was bland Will not be returning to this restaurant and will probably go to another place as I paid £13.50 which was for a rubbish meal. Had to feed the seagulls in the end as I felt physically sick after eating

We have been using this fishchip shop for tears , never had any complaints until now.we decided to have the Currys as in the past they have been really good, after having to wait for at least 40 minutes it finally arrived. We left looking forward to eating it. They both were uneatable chicken curry 2 bits of chicken and full of green peppers.chicken tikka ,the chicken was like rubber and there was no flavour, watery, you could tell that they had come out of the freezer not fresh.

Traditional but nothing special for the price, very busy in summer and a conveyor belt system feel to it. Also could do with more attendance regarding cleanliness during busy times. We did not eat in, so can not comment on table service, but would not recommend when busy, its probably overwhelming.

I had the Chicken Rendang Udon, a bottle of Lucky Budda and the Ice Cream Fritter. The Rendang was really very good indeed & the price is quite amazing at £7.70 for a sit in meal. The ice cream fritter is their only desert, but nice enough and great value too. All in all one of the best value meals I've had for a long time.

Service was great, lovely polite staff and a nicely presented shop/eating area. However, ordered bang bang chicken. When I came home to eat it, it was just plain chicken.. no bang bang sauce! Decent food that's fast and good value for money. Beef curry udon noodles were tasty, King Prawn Ho Fun a little bit lacking in flavour but we're much better once some chilli oil had been added. Crispy pork belly was great as a side dish. It's cash only and most people seemed to be getting takeout. Looking forward to returning to working my way through the rest of the huge menu.

They could spend little more time on cleaning and welcoming the customers. Yep, its a fast food service but which offers dine in- so cleanliness could have been better. McDonald's is a well-known fast-food chain famous for its burgers and fries. In Aberystwyth, Wales, the closest McDonald's is 18 miles away from Machynlleth. However, if you're looking for a unique dining experience, Ynyshir offers a tasting menu with dishes like chef Gareth Ward's spin on a Big Mac alongside foie gras, truffle, and caviar. Customers have praised the friendly and helpful staff at McDonald's locations.
My friends and I got stranded in the middle of nowhere out in nature because our car broke down and we had to hike for hours to get back to civilization as there was no signal to call for help! We hadn't eaten since early morning and were absolutely starving at 11pm at night when we finally found somewhere to stay at a hotel next to this McDonald's. I walked in a few minutes past closing time without realising whilst my friends were getting settled at the hotel nearby. I ran over to grab us some food but was told upon entering that they were closing so I wouldn't be able to order any food. I was ready to cry after the nightmare of a day my friends and I just experienced... I totally understood I was past closing time and asked if there was anywhere else nearby to get any food. I was told it was unlikely at this hour. Out of desperation I explained the situation my friends and I had just experienced and bless her heart, the lady manager took pity on me and allowed me to order whatever food was left. Chicken selects and fries and fruit bags. It was more than enough and I was so grateful to be able to order any kind of food. I only ordered 9 chicken selects but she put an extra 3 in for us which was so kind and greatly appreciated! She was generous with the ketchup too. It was just what we needed after a stressful day. Thank you so much for your kindness, something so small made such a huge difference to our day. We were all very grateful! God bless.
Catherine B — Google review
Food is actually good in terms of McDonald's. The burgers were fresh and well put together, chips were what you'd expect. They're definitely quicker here than my local McDonald's, so that's a positive. The gentleman serving us our food was polite and smiley too. The drive through can get busy, so you might find it's quicker to go in and pick up after ordering on your phone. Negatives: it could definitely have been cleaner, but we did visit on a busy Sunday evening.
Edward S — Google review
So busy they could not cope! Queues at the ordering bar, queues at The drive through. Queues at the toilets. Gave up. Came away with no food, no drink. That’s a bank holiday for you at this branch.

Dirty sticky floor, terrible quality of food. Car park outside is really messy, bins haven’t been changed for days, litter all over the car park. Looks like a significant hub of the tows, as we were driving around and couldn’t see a soul on the streets meanwhile the Mc Donald’s was chocked.
R G — Google review
We went to this McDonald’s for the first time since coming here for University. Lucy on the till 26/09/25 22:00 was very helpful when it was busy and the drinks were down. I wish all McDonald’s staff was as understanding and helpful as this young lady. Will be coming here again, great quality of food and service.
Demir O — Google review
They were extremely busy (we arrived just after 12.30pm) when we joined the queue to order at the drive through. We were quickly sent to a designated waiting area and food was delivered as ordered and in good time and was very hot. And was one of the better experiences we've encountered at McDonalds in the last Year or so. The Car park is a little small and cramped for how busy this particularly McDonalds. It was very busy inside and from those in our party that went inside to use the loos, which they sad were the cleanest they had seen in a McDonalds.

Went to Aberystwyth branch the food was freezing cold had to go back becouse they forgot the burgers and still they got the order wrong, ordered a vanilla milkshake they gave us banana ordered the new nuggets received the normal ones and they forgot the toy in my little ones happy meal I know it's a McDonald's so I shouldn't be surprised by the lack of compitance but it's like keir Starmer started working in the kitchen. Sort your staff out McDonald's your the worst one I've ever visited

It is Mcdonalds. You know what to expect, however, the drive Thru is slow, on average, half the time you are asked to park up and wait (and bear in mind, theu do this to hit targets on getting cars through in a certain time) if, you are in a rush, you can just say No, politely, and magically, you'll get your food! Today, they had no milkshakes (whats new?), but they also had no sofy drinks, no quarter pounders (or any burger that required one). I haven't actually eaten the food for a year or two, but the kids do, and, it still looks and smells the same. On the whole, Averystwyh Mcdonalds isn't the worst we've been to, nor is it the best.

The restaurant prides itself on excellent service, friendly staff, and a clean environment. Visitors can expect generous portions of deliciously crispy fish with light batter and fluffy, non-greasy chips. Despite its location not being on the front promenade, it's easily accessible from the town center.
Excellent fish and chips! Watched the woman fry it up. Older couple very sweet. Younger gentleman employee helped make sure we left with the right order:)

Lovely chips!! Got a couple of large portions of chips to take away and sit on the beach to eat. No disappointment!! When they say large, it really is a generous portion. The chips were perfectly cooked, not too greasy but lovely and crispy. The guy that served us was so lovely too. Sorry i didn’t ask for his name but he was really lovely.

Just had the cod and chips takeaway today from here with mushy peas. Staff are very friendly and prices are reasonable. We decided to take away today but I will definitely sit in next time I am in Aberystwyth

I honestly don’t know how this place has such a high rating. The fish and chips I ordered were some of the worst I’ve ever had – and I’ve eaten from plenty of chippies over the years. The portion size was tiny – easily the smallest I’ve ever been handed from a chip shop, especially given the ludicrous price. I expected something generous for the cost, but instead got a sad-looking bit of fish that was mostly batter and hardly any actual fish inside. What little fish there was came full of bones – clearly they don’t bother deboning here. They don't even have a fish option on the kids menu. As for flavour, there was none. Bland, greasy, and completely joyless. The chips were equally uninspired – pale, soggy, and tasting of old oil. When I raised my concerns, the staff couldn’t have cared less. No offer to put things right, just awkward looks and a shrug. The decor and interior didn’t help either – tired, dated, and not exactly giving off “clean and inviting” vibes. I only went because it was the highest-rated place open at the time, but I genuinely wish I hadn’t bothered. Save your money and your stomach – this was an absolute letdown from start to finish. I wouldn’t feed it to the dog.

Best chippy in town! Gorgeous fish and chips, gorgeous owners and they always have time for a chat. Their kindness shines through their food. Highly recommended 👌 xx

I was bikepacking and ended up here by chance. Lovely friendly owner. Fish and chips cooked fresh whilst I waited. Great value, excellent quality. You can eat in, but the owner packaged them well, so I could carry them on my bike to eat on the seafront. Besides many miles of cycling and being very hungry, I couldn't eat all the chips! Highly recommended.

If you’re looking for a classic taste of Britain, look no further than the Central Fish & Chips. The moment you step in, the aroma of freshly fried fish and sizzling chips fills the air. The fish is perfectly battered and flaky, with a crisp, golden exterior that’s simply irresistible. The chips are thick-cut, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. Service is friendly and efficient, making for a delightful dining experience. Whether you dine in or take away, the central Fish & Chips is a must-visit for a satisfying meal that captures the essence of traditional British fare!

Beautiful fish and chips. Very lightly battered fish, the only way I like it. All freshly cooked to order. Washed down with the best cuppa I've had in ages.

KFC Aberystwyth - Terrace Road is a delightful spot for anyone craving that iconic fried chicken experience. This renowned restaurant chain has been serving up its famous buckets of crispy chicken and delicious combo meals since 1952, making it a staple for fast food lovers. The atmosphere is generally inviting, with tidy surroundings and hygienic facilities that enhance your dining experience. While some patrons have noted occasional delays in service, the helpful staff are ready to assist you in choosing from their mouthwatering menu.
Very nice food, very nice place the staff are very polite but the toilets weren’t the cleanest

Restaurant was absolutely filthy. From the dining area to the restrooms. Gross Food: tasted old and re-warmed. The frys were rubbish. Soggy, very greasy and not something worth even a pence. The service was fast. But, I'm sure that's only due to the food being old and prepped hours before; the staff seemed so unhappy to work there, no pride. Which showed as you looked around to see the lack of cleanliness. DO NOT EAT HERE. This location needs to go under new management and get some deep, deep cleaning done before opening their doors.

chicken breading tasted like it had been sitting out for three days, and the fries were rubbery. The smell and grime in the bathroom were disgusting. There were sauces on the walls and chicken remnants on the air conditioning unit. This was my first and last time here. Eat somewhere in town; it can't possibly be worse than this.

We didn’t even stay and eat! Was on a little holiday, me the wife and 2 kids. Walked in and it looked like there had been food fight! Every single vacant table was absolutely filthy, food, wrappers and sauce all over the tables, food literally everywhere and I don’t mean a crumb here or there, it looked like the bin had been emptied on the floor! Absolutely disgusting! And seeing previous reviews not the first time! Needs shutting down! VILE!

ordered chicken banquet and the chicken/ batter ratio was shocking. it was so salty, unsafe for human consumption unless a cardiac arrest was on your daily to-do list. don’t even get me started on the chips, the salt and pepper scattered on top could easily be mistaken for wood chippings. i understand your short staffed etc but i dont play about with my dinner. it is my fuel.

I’ve been visiting this restaurant for 5 years now. I get to town once a week so this place is my regular pit stop. The food is always good, as is the atmosphere. The staff are awesome, and always welcoming, even when rushed off their feet. Last year, i had a nasty fall on the path just opposite the shop. I have arthritis and osteoporosis so falls can be dangerous for me. A lady called Louise was the first person to me. She is a staff member at the KFC shop, and she rushed out to assist me when she witnessed me falling. She kindly helped me up, and guided me into the shop to sit down and collect myself for a few moments. The fall had shaken me up, but Louise’s help that day made all the difference to me. I love that the staff at this shop go above and beyond for the community. I have seen a couple of abusive customers during my 5 years of visiting, yet the staff remain polite and composed, while calming the situations down. Calmer than i would be for sure. The one thing i would change… Please bring back normal fries! The seasoned ones were ok but easy to get bored with. I now tend to buy rice boxes or sides now, avoiding those seasoned fries. I’d much prefer unseasoned at this point.

Y’know i was having a pretty rough day, and it didn’t feel like it was going to get better. Until i met Juan, fast, efficient yet so chill. Radiating good vibes only, he made everything better. I would die for Juan, he’s my best friend, he’s my pal, my homeboy, my rotten soldier, he’s my sweet cheese, my good time boy.. 10/10 service

I went over to KFC not so long ago to grab some dinner. I asked the employee (josh I think it was) and he gave me both the perfect request and customer service. I couldn't stop laughing because of how many jokes he was making. He was so kind and uplifting it just made my day. Once my food was made another employee (Kate) delivered it. They couldn't of had a bigger smile on their face, such a wonderful attitude/persona on them. They need to be noticed by their manager's/boss!!! Those 2 are the best employees I have seen in any industry to this day. They have smashed it out of the ballpark with their customer service.

Pizza restaurant
Penguin Pizza & Cafe in Aberystwyth offers a variety of delicious pizzas, including a vegan option. Despite the non-vegan nature of the establishment, the vegan pizza was surprisingly enjoyable, although it could have been less garlicky. It would've been appreciated if there was also a vegan alternative for their Nutella pizza to avoid feelings of envy among vegans in the group. The staff were friendly and accommodating, allowing customers to bring their own beers while dining in.
Don't let the generic facade fool you! The best pizza I've had in years. Beautiful crusted base with delicious BBQ chicken topping. Fast, good service and soooooooo tasty 😋
Ray F — Google review
Awful service, overpriced, didn't question tolerance or allergies...only cater to people who won't question a £6 jump between small to medium (claiming superior ingredients, base etc) never again oh did i mention the burnt crust and (green sausage)! Oh wait...there's a photo for that! They claim to care deeply about every product!!!
Tim S — Google review
Ordered via just eat. Penguin Pizza used to be amazing, however the last few times the pizza has been undercooked, toppings slide off and pizza base isn’t cooked, it’s as if they’re trying to cook them too fast. I always get a mamilu pizza for reference.

Stunning food, rude delivery driver. Made an order through Delivaroo and our food was delivered, order said free delivery and the driver immediately demanded £5 cash for delivery. I said he should take that up with Deliveroo as the order was through the app. He said, 'fine, £5 next time!'. I have reported this to Deliveroo. It felt like extortion.

Fantastic pizza! Great to see the pizza being freshly made and cooked in the hot pizza oven. Highly recommend.

This place is really easy to describe. Pizza was delicious, service incredibly friendly and it was surprising that they can make a real pizza faster than I can put a frozen one to a microwave. I'll definitely come back!
