I thought the birria was ok. I prefer a stronger flavor. The small serving is small. I should have ordered the bigger size . The quesadillas were good. The salsas were excellent. The agua fresca was great. My favorite part was the beautiful open kitchen. The restaurant is beautiful. Great colors. All open walls. Beautiful small plaza in the center.

Such a cool, atmospheric spot with super friendly staff! The food is seriously delicious — super fresh and totally authentic. They even make the tortillas right in front of you, which is awesome. Honestly, this is one of the best places I’ve ever had birria. If you’re into real Mexican flavors, you’ve gotta check this place out. Can’t wait to come back!

GREAT BIRRIA. The birria is great but whats makes it excellent is the awesome tortillas, salsas, beans, amazing coffee. My only complaint is that i jusy wanted a little but if queso fresco on the side not anything crazy to add to my birria. But they charges me 80 pesos 😐. But its whatever since everything else was great and amazing even the coffee and i dont even like coffee

I came to Bruna with very high expectations, and they were almost met. The food looked amazing. The 10 Mile dish was incredible - really unique and full of rich flavors. It was a real highlight. The other dishes were just okay in terms of taste. They were good, but not as impressive as I expected from a top nauch restaurant.

Incredible experience at Bruna’s. We went at 6pm and got to experience the restaurant change from day to night. The venue is beautiful and the food was delicious, but what stood out the most was the service. Our server, Alejandro, guided us through the menu options and explained things in much detail. All his recommendations were superb, we enjoyed all the food very much and the drinks further elevated our experience. After dinner, Edmundo gave us a tour of the entire place (both Bruna and Octo). He was very knowledgeable and his interaction with us was a great balance of informing us about the art, history and highlights of the restaurants, as well as interacting with us (my partner and I) and leaning about us and including that in aspects of the tour. For example I told him I am Brazilian and he pointed out the flowers in the garden that were of Brazilian origin. I don’t have to mention the incredible attention to detail that went into planning this place. Overall an amazing experience that we’ll never forget.

Very good food and excellent service , the server spent time explaining the details of each food items such as the heirloom Tomatoes salad that they especially got prepared for me as I am vegan !! The drinks and the food was very good, ordered the eggplant taquitos and the hummus and cauliflower!! Beautiful preparation and full of flavors

Incredible all around! One of the best restaurants I’ve been. Truly a unique experience. Must try if you’re into unique cuisine. The interior design is fabulous.

The location we visited it’s really big, it’s close to Tlaquepaque forum area, south east of guadalajara. We were greeted with beans and chips straight to our table as we seat, and immediately offered a ready to eat guacamole. A second waiter had a display tray of some of their most popular drinks ready for us to choose. A 3rd waiter was ready to take our order. My family took of to wash their hands after ordering and they have not made it to the restroom yet when the food already arrived to our table, super fast service!!! It was really good, we ordered 2 big carnes en su jugo, the guacamole was already on the table, and we ordered cheese with mushrooms. For drinks a cantarito With Tequila, a lemonade, a Lechugilla drink and a coffee. The waiters were very prompt to any request, and bring cebollitas asadas with chips, it’s was delicious. For the bill, it was a bit higher than I expected but I understand it’s a restaurant that specializes in carnes en su jugo, quality and super fast friendly service. I highly recommend for people to try.

The beans and guacamole were really good but I was really disappointed with their carne en su jugo. Some of the portraits they had up were cool and the tequila selection was lackluster. My parents hyped this place up and honestly we were all disappointed with it. Maybe it was just a bad day

The food was delicious! This was my first time here and I loved the greeting. They are eager to help you and offer you great food and service. At the table you’re greeted with a bean and corn dip with corn chips, a red salsa, and grilled onions. We ordered the traditional Karnes en su jugo dish and as a starter the quesadillas with mushrooms, they were scrumptious! I live out of the country but looking forward to my return!

You can't visit Guadalajara without stopping by at Karne Garibaldi! The best in town. I didn't give the 5 stars due the tortillas, there is a window of opportunity to improve!

I’ve been coming to xokol for four years and never have I been disappointed. Their traditional plates that are modernized with a creativity creates plates that are unique and delicious. The menu changes with the seasons so expect fresh ingredients and to see a plate once. You might see it again but not the exact same except for their ceremonial taco. The service is phenomenal and I’ve been a frequent enough patron to be recognized by the staff who have been there for awhile. If you want stereotypical Mexican food, you’ll be disappointed. This a mix of traditional dishes with non traditional ingredients. Tourists need to understand there are many cuisines in Mexico. Don’t eat here if you’re a picky eater either. While it’s ok to not like certain flavors or dishes, it’s never good to go in with a closed mind set. I personally recommend to get the oysters tuétano, or any fish/kampachi dish. Bonus points if you go and there’s a dish with an ingredient from someone the chefs know/their family. I’ve also done their guest chef dinners and tasting menus and it’s always been amazing.

This is one restaurant I hope lasts for the time to come. I would recommend the tastings if this is your first time here and venture to dinner if it would be your second visit. It's a lot of fun and the quisine is beautiful and tasty. You can tell that the staff is very team oriented and take pride in their work. I especially enjoyed the grilled oyster with hoisen. Excellent. Could have eaten five of those. The off-menu cóctel list was very impressive. There's wasn't a cocktail that I didn't like but for my personal taste there were some that I preferred over others. There was a simple gin and tonic with romero that was fantastic. Grab your favorite dinner companions and make this a destination for the evening.

I can’t speak highly enough about my experience at Xokol. We were a two person walk-in, no reservation, and they went out of their way to make sure we could dine-in. On top of that this one was of the best meals I’ve ever had. Don’t miss this stop in GDL anything you order will be amazing.

Loved Xokol! The service and food were outstanding. We did not have a reservation, but the two of us turned up just before 7pm on Wednesday and were met by friendly staff who were able to seat us for dinner. We chose to order off the menu rather than to do the tasting. We ordered 4 dishes and loved them all. Our favourites was the octopus empandas, the Tlacoyo and the sweet corn chorreada. We were stuffed and could not do dessert. But the staff provided us a free dessert to try and it was amazing. If you are in Guadalajara I strongly recommend eating at Xokol.

OMG Terrible experience at this place. It's the worst experience we ever had. We will never recommend this place to any of our friends or family. The place was overcrowded and its very unorganised. When we entered the premises, there was a huge crowd, we didn't understand what's happening there. There is no sign or instructions where to order the food and the ground was yuckk with food, dirty tissues and damp floor. Most of the tables were occupied and the salad bars were stinking. We had prawn tacos and quesadillas, burritos with shrimp and among all the burritos were decent to eat while the prawn tacos were dripping with oil and the tacos were so dry. The quesadillas were awful. Dry and disgusting. The meat inside was so horrible. Not sure what quality meat they use. We felt it was very worse. One of the staff was bit friendly and helped us how to order and she also couldn't find few seats for us to sit and eat. Felt sick and nauseous after eating them. Finally, we had beautiful experience in Lapaz fish tacos at LAPAZ a week ago and that one was so amazing. We thought this restaurant would be the same and totally got deceived. I think only the same was same but everything else is nothing the same. Not sure how they have such good google reviews. That's another way we fell for it. Save your money, health and go to some other nice place

Super delicious fish and shrimp 🍤 tacos, ceviche, octopus and marlin tostadas. They have al kind of toppings for your tacos. There's also sodas and "aguas frescas" of all sorts. I completely recommend this places. It is always very crowded but fast to order because they are well organized.

The fish was barely warm but the toppings were at least fresh. If the fish had been hot, it would have been great!

This was a good lunch stop. They were only open during lunch when we were there. The place is busy and a bit noisy with people and a singer on the sidewalk. Also a lot of traffice noise. The food was very much worth stopping for.

Greta location, quiet indoor and outdoor seating options. Food was amazing and the staff were great very reasonable prices and good portions. I felt like this was a great spot and I’m definitely going to stop by again. I ordered a sangria and a queso burger and both were delicious. I’m from Texas and I’ve been traveling all of Mexico. This is one of the few burger spots that hit the spot.

My god waited over one hour with my 2 yr old son for a tiny burger that was ridiculously over cooked i left didnt have the steak but id imagine it would of been the same as wasnt even asked how i like it cooked Also sell cans of beer Cans of beer are for bbq round your mates house no decent restaurant that ive been to sells cans its bottles of pints The can was recommended i never choose it This is size of burger we took away small

This place already has a ton of reviews so gonna keep it short and sweet: Great burgers, great atmosphere (minus those pinche mosquitos), and great staff. Try the pastor burger. and the old fashioned was great! Get some different burgers and share with friends for sure. Lots of different flavors.

Went there with couple of friends on Saturday evening. The ambience was good and I really enjoyed the music at this place. I ordered Chicken burger which was ok ok type. The fries I got with my burger was soggy. We also tried their all the deserts in the menu. Guava pie was really nice, cheesecake was good too and I didn’t like the brownie. The service was fast. The staff was friendly.

To list down best burgers in this city, it is not so match my imagination. Maple burger is too greasy for me, I prefer something light vegetables add inside to balance . The French fried is a little bit dry. Total service is good and friendly.

I came back after years, remembering what a great burger it was. The server was great. Sadly, however, what I got was incredibly saltly, completely losing the maple taste. It was also extremely overcooked.

Amazing burgers! Probably the best you'll taste in Guadalajara. The buns are soft and delicious, the meat is ultra-tasty, the toppings are really well paired altogether in a fantastic combination of flavours. Food was decent, the service was OK, the atmosphere is very nice. I ordered a Lonche de pancita (pork belly sandwich) and got a sandwich that, in my opinion, was pork leg. I didn't want to wait to wait to discuss and maybe get a replacement sandwich, so I just went ahead and ate it. It was OK, but with the Pajarito (bottled) salsa added, the flavor improved. Their cappuccino is very delicious. The atmosphere is nice. I sat at the bar, the service was mixed, with some servers being very attentive, while my server was just OK at best. I will come back to try other items in the menu, and will seat in their patio next time.

Delicious and absolutely would go back! The iced latte was great, and they made a flat white cold for my friend as well. The waiters were very helpful and suggested good plates based on my allergies. I got 2 different vegetarian tacos, which came on blue corn tortillas, and they were SO tasty. Very different flavors between the two - which was wonderful. Their hot sauce was worth a try as well, such a nice kick! This adorable cafe has multiple levels and spaces to sit, so you could have a favorite spot or a different one each time. The atmosphere is lovely at lunch time - very chill and open.

Pal Real is one of my favorite places in Guadalajara, Mexico! Conveniently located in Arcos Vallarta, all the food is freshly made, and the cocktails are truly craft! These pics are just a few of my favorite things, because everything is delicious. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the music and general atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. You will not regret making Pal Real a spot to visit when you’re in Guadalajara!

My visit to Cafe Palreal in Guadalajara left much to be desired. The food, unfortunately, fell below my expectations, with offerings that were decidedly below average in taste and presentation. It seemed like a missed opportunity for a culinary delight. The service, while not notably poor, failed to leave any lasting positive impressions. It was a functional experience, but nothing about it stood out as particularly special or attentive. The lack of exceptional service added to the overall mediocrity of the visit. In conclusion, Cafe Palreal might be an option if you're in need of a quick bite, but for those seeking a memorable culinary or service experience, there are likely better choices in the area. The cafe has room for improvement to truly stand out in the competitive food scene of Guadalajara.

Poor customer service they only had 4 tables , a lot of staff. It took them 15min to notice we were waiting to place our order. Drink we're late. Waitress awful service and they guy with glasses and tattoos was in another world in his mind. Definitely this place is not worded for me. I believe the torts ahogadas right in front gives you a better service than this piece of crappie place.

Excellent place for coffee and breakfast. I love their versions of classic breakfasts, and the fact that they don't give you huge portions. I had two breakfasts there with coffee, perfect way to start the day.

The best coffee shop i’ve tried in Guadalajara. Great food and good coffee bean variety. The filtered drinks were really nice on the mouth. The milk based drinks were a little taim on the flavor, not enough punch on the taste but good and enjoyable. I’ll go back for sure.

I enjoy exploring places that truly capture the authentic ethnic and cultural atmosphere. As the largest indoor market in Latin America, I was excited to visit this historic marketplace. I loved wandering through the countless small stalls, savoring the diverse aromas and tastes of various foods, and marveling at the colorful, exotic fruits. The warm, attentive vendors made the experience even more memorable. Definitely a must place to visit while in Guadalajara.

This place is a huge maze. Saddle, electronics, food, meat, pet birds, trinkets, soany shoes, and more. I know I didn't see all of it. I kept getting lost and seeing some of the same things more than twice. Definitely plan to spend a few hours here.

Huge Market! Extremely crowded on the weekends so if you'd like to experience the market in it's full glory then go on the weekend. Mingling with the people and navigating the maze of stalls and food vendors when it's crowded is a definite thing to do. However, if you want to take your time and explore the market go during a weekday when it's not as hectic. Lots of goods for sale and some will even haggle. Numerous leather goods from shoes to saddles.

Lots of crafts worth the trip just to look around. Also, lots of fake designer stuff.

It was interesting to walk around and I would go back again, but compared to mercados like Mercado el 100 in Mexico City, it's not that great. We had a delicious tortas, though.

Hundreds of merchandise stalls and dozens of small restaurants. So hard to choose what to eat. We both had a deep fried tilapia for breakfast a some sugar cane juice in the northern courtyard. A pretty old looking building. The common areas were a little bit dirty but all the vendor stalls were very clean. We would go back.

This is an amazing casual seafood restaurant in the heart of Colonia Chapalita, a few steps away from the Jardín del Arte Glorieta Chapalita where artists display their works on weekends. I was there with a group on Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with lots of families, couples, friends, etc. We were started off with drinks (they have soft drinks, aguas frescas, coffee, and what appeared to be a full bar.) I got the limonada which was just perfect and served in a large metal glass. They also brought out complimentary tostadas, salsa, and pickled cucumber appetizers. The menu is quite extensive with all kinds of seafood. I chose the shrimp "zarandeados" (that literally translates as "shaken," but they seemed to be grilled), and served with grilled pineapple and a side of rice. It was way too generous a portion for me, so I could not eat it all ...though I wanted to! Delicious! All my party's entrees looked great. The service was excellent too. The restaurant has open sides as if it were a large covered patio, but they rolled down some clear plastic tent-like walls when the wind picked up as a storm came near. The atmosphere was fun and a bit loud. With all the noise it was just a bit hard for me to hear the conversation well at my table, but it was manageable. I recognized a few songs they were playing, hits from the '80's, some ABBA, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston... Nice! They have valet parking, which I recommend, as otherwise it may be difficult to find a spot during peak times. I will definitely return when I get the opportunity.

Awesome place for having seafood. For starters, the bread with butter is so fluffy and tasteful. Then a taco of what seemed zarandeado shrimps (recommendation of the waiter) was the best appetizer I have had in so much time. For the main dish: coconut shrimps. The dressing on the salad was sweet and had so many flavors to it. The shrimps were on point. Great attitude of the waiters, service overall all was outstanding.

Visited for lunch yesterday and absolutely recommend this spot. The hostesses Vanessa and Belén were super accommodating amid the busy-ness of the restaurant. Our waiter Cesar was also attentive to our group. Great atmosphere and the food was excellent and arrived quickly.

The food is amazing, it is pricey but the portions are good and well food is tasty. We ordered botana campomar with octopus, scallops and shrimp it was very fresh. The taco jaiba was the best and the shrimp chicharrón. The 4 stars is because the place is too crowded with tables, there is barely any space in between compared with their other locations. You feel you are sitting with the next table. Is also very loud because of that. But in general recommended.

Honestly the worst experience ever.... If you are a tourist RUN from this place. The place is beautiful but the staff is horrible. We got a waiter named Luis Brandon Ramirez... Stay clear from this dude... This place is a must visit, people from all over this world come to visit this old bar. We have met some kind and humble people from across the world here. The live music and ambience here is definitely a spot that will make you drink!! Be prepared to do so, you either will purchase drinks, be bought drinks, or will be offered someone’s drinks. Between the live music that plays and the mariachi that arrives around 11pm this place will have you being Mexican in no time. Highly recommended.

Great local place!! Heard the music as I was walking by the other day and thought this would be a great place to go to. By chance, a friend recommended to meet there the very next day...coincidence?? The food menu is limited but it's not a dinner restaurant, it's a bar first and foremost. A bar with a great vibe and local folks who love to sing along with the performers. Highly suggest meeting up with some friends here....grab a table...a drink...order a snack and enjoy the lively atmosphere

The oldest bar in Guadalajara... For that alone it's worth a visit. With that said, the place is cavernous, loud, impersonal, and when "that old piano" starts playing, you can't hear yourself think. Service is rushed and indifferent, and overall I can immediately think of a dozen places I'd rather go have a beer at in Guad... not least because all that's available here is bottled, mass produced toot. Pro-Tip: Come here and have one beer, to say you've done it. Then go and find one of the many great bars in the city center.

Careful at this grocery, at the enter of Andres Terán street, they stolen you, they give to you wrong change. they charge you $85 pesos for an avocado en a lettuce. Please try to not buy there. If your forage please don’t buy nothing there. Next time I’ll take of picture of the guy who trick me. (Is the store almost front to “los naranjos”.

The food taste great. The staff is well organized. Its a very popular place to eat for locals and tourist but it can get very crowded and if you decide to go during or close to rush hour you might find your self waiting in line (a long line) for a table.

This restaurant was awesome! The attention and food were super! It is the oldest restaurant of the chain, according to person who took care of me and my husband. Prices were very readable. It made us feel in a family, traditional restaurant. I strongly recommend it 😊

We came to this location twice on our vacation here. My father in laws lengua con chile verde was very good. The next day we came and I tried the cantarito for breakfast and it definitely had a kick to it. Would come again

My husband ordered beef dish they brought him chicken,he told them his order was wrong.the waitress tried to convince him it was Beef! Not going back.

Food was barely edible. Not busy as all. Drowned torta was ok and the reason we went here. So diappointing.

Not what I expected from a place with so much propaganda!

The place is beautiful with great atmosphere but the food is not good and the service was not good either. It took over an hour to get our food. The baked potato tasted bad. The pina colada, coke, and lemonade also tasted bad. I ordered the arrachera marinada and it was gross. They don’t accept cards just cash.

If you're coming here, I suggest going for the drinks and the atmosphere. Maybe it was the food we chose, but it wasn't our favorite. It felt like none of it was seasoned, and cold. I promise it looks better than what it actually tasted. We would have told the server that the burner under our food was out but we never got checked on again until paying the check. I understand because they were very busy. But still didn't feel personable. The live music was incredible. The singers and dancers were amazing.

It was my first time and what an awesome experience. The Tequila Cazuelas...just exquisite! A must! The main dish was Chiles Nogada. Not the best ever, El Cardenal, in México City the best, but was good! Top notch service and real good food.

My wife ordered the number 2 combination and I ordered the torta ahogada which was fantastic. When we first were seated the server brought Chips and salsa as well as pico and veggies (carrots,jicama, potato and garlic) all of which were excellent! The atmosphere was very relaxing and the restaurant was very clean!

Visited this restaurant on Friday, 08/08, and it was a complete scam. If I could give it no stars I would. They told me to sit by the mariachi there was a two-drink minimum (for two people) — which sounded fine. They never said bottles, they said individual drinks. I confirmed with the server before sitting. Suddenly, they brought 8 shots to the table without asking, and then they tell us there’s another 8 coming?! charged us $2,000 pesos! No way of sending them back either. When I questioned it, they didn’t care and refused to fix the bill. I got scammed and will never be back. They take advantage of customers. Be very careful.ended up paying $4,000 pesos, a huge bill I did not expect. Writing this review to save this from happening to more people. The mariachi was the only good thing about this place. Food took about two hours to be served.

Atmosphere was nice. Camarones a la diabla tasted and look like american BBQ sauce. Food was very flavorless and staff ignored you once they seated you. They are happy getting people in but after that they don't care about you or your experience and it was costly for crappy service and food. Go elsewhere.

This is THE spot for carne en su jugo! Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. As soon as you sit down, you're brought a delicious cup of bean soup with bacon, chips, guacamole and salsa. The small size of carne en su jugo is anything but small, and it pairs so well with the roasted spring onions and salsa. Grab a hot and fresh tortilla and add the ingredients you want and enjoy! On our visit, there was a family celebrating their mom's birthday, and the staff brought out a big fake cake with sparklers--such a fun vibe. It was raining hard when we were there and the lights went out at one point, and the whole restaurant erupted with laughter. Great experience from start to finish.

It was my first time trying “Carne en su jugo” and I think I came to the perfect spot, everything tasted so good and had that homemade flavor from the salsas and tortillas to tho the main dishes. Nice ambiance and good food in an unpretentious, off the beaten path restaurant in Guadalajara. Apparently famed for its carne en su jugo which I tired here for the first time so it was difficult to compare it with other iterations.

We came here after the place next door had a long line. It was good and the beans at the start were amazing. I had the quesadilla kamillia and it did not disappoint. Everyone else has carne en su jugo. They said it was on the saltier side but overall good. The service wasn’t that good either; took a while to bring the food out and they brought mine out 10 minutes before everyone’s meals.

I love the legendary place next door but I think Kamilos 333 is better overall. The quality is better and the portions are larger. This is my new place to go in Santa Tere. I will be back. So good!

This is the place where locals go for tacos. The food was so good! There was a lone but we waited 20min or less to get in. The service was great, our server david really helped us out when we were ordering. Also it was really affordable.

A rather large sit down style taqueria that serves only 3 or 4 types of meat but does it quickly and efficiently. It'll take no more than 5 minutes from the time you sit down to the time you have your food. And the wait staff will check in on you periodically if you need anything else. The layout is open air even though there is a roof overhead. Lots and lots of tables. They do brisk business here.

We came here with our family and based on everyone's liking there was a different option available and we all loved our food. There are 4 different types of salsas to choose from and Laura serving our table did an amazing job promptly bringing the tortillas and salsas based on our requirements. Must definitely visit again!

You can not go wrong with this super popular restaurant. There's a very good reason it's popular, it's incredibly DELICIOUS !! If you're craving proper Mexican tacos, quesidillaa then TOMATE is a must visit. The pasor was delicious and the carne asada was spectacular, incredibly succulent meat , really, really good ! I went on a weekday and it was full, I've walked by this restaurant numerous times and sometimes there are long lines, so bear that in mind .service was prompt and quick, really quick. Server was also very helpful, I was going to order the large plate but was warned that it'd be too much for me, and they were right , even the small plate stuffed me. The prices were fair and reasonable ! A definite must go to if you're in Guadalajara. It's really, really good !!! Don't miss this gem !

Emmanuel was a great server and super patient as we navigated the language barrier. Our Gringas (we special requested chicken and they accomodated) and the arrechera taco was amazing. The queso con chorizo was also pretty good. We'd definitely come back! We spent about $25 USD a person and that included lemonade and the sort.

The tacos and tostadas we got were too salty and too tart. The price was relatively high compared to other similar restaurants. The service was poor, the waitress was unfriendly. The outdoor courtyard is nice though. Also, they provide you with numerous tostada shells and 3 different types of salsa.

Great service and pleasant atmosphere but the food and drinks disappointed. The ceviches were not properly seasoned, and how do mess up watermelon agua fresca? It was a total waste of our opportunity to have great food anywhere else.

Great spot for a quick tostada or taco, very good service and atmosphere but unfortunately the tostada of octopus only had a few tiny pieces of tentacles, and tons of pico de gallo so yeah, is a deceitful and it goes with the name, impostor, the shrimp aguachile in the other hand was outstanding, the black sauce was on point and a very generous amount of shrimp. Most of their dishes highlight shrimp, so next time I will still with it.

amazing seafood spot. food is fresh and is incredible quality for the price. came here on a recommendation from a friend and glad i did. the manager (Raul) is the man and took care of me and my lady friend when we went. he recommended the dishes and let us try out a few different combos before pulling the trigger. my only regret is that we were too full to try the ice cream, but i guess will need to go back for a second round. highly recommend.

La Panga del Impostor is heaven on earth. Great beers, and even greater seafood. We kept ordering and ordering because everything was delicious; bright, colorful, hugely flavorful fresh ceviches, tacos and more. The green shrimp cocktail was a favorite (so good I forgot to snap a photo). No one seemed to mind that we sat for hours and hours talking eating and laughing on a lazy Sunday. Definitely go here.

Love this little gem of a restaurant ! Nestled away in the colonial Americana neighborhood. Piggy back is my favorite breakfast restaurant. The servers are super attentive and clear your table in record time, constantly check up on you to see of you need anything or how you're enjoying the food . Top notch servers, they definitely go above and beyond! The food that I had was also noteworthy, the chillanques , especially the carne asada en su jugo was stellar ! Really prepared well. Also had chillanques with chicharon , and huevos ranchers, spectacular ! A very special mention to the pastries , the cinnamon roll in particular was incredible, you can definitely tell it was made fresh and properly . The prices are really fair and reasonable. When I'm ever back in Guadalajara piggy back will be my go to breakfast restaurant for sure ! Highly recommend 👌 Note : it's EXTREMELY busy on the weekends, so busy that I didn't go because the lines were too long ! You must get there early or make a reservation ! It's super popular !! It's only a breakfast restaurant, it closes at 3 ! As a coffee connoisseur, I do like piggy backs coffee, it bold and full flavored !

This is such a nice place for brunch. It’s fun and just has a great vibe. Food and service could not have been better. Our server was so friendly, they all were honestly. Love the complementary cold juice or popsicle while we waited. Well worth that wait for such a tasty meal. The food was served hot and full of delicious fresh flavors.

Food here was amazing. We had the “Flor de Calabaza chilaquiles” and “Chilaquiles Tapatíos”. Subtle hints of habanero in the former and pretty much a deconstructed “torta ahogada” over chilaquiles in the latter. Naty was a great waitress and the manager of the restaurant checked in on us to make sure we enjoyed the stay. If you’re looking for a pastel aesthetic cafe, with great service and even greater food without missing a truly authentic Mexican menu, look no further than Piggy Back!

Easily one of the best breakfast places in GDL. The cinnamon roll is incredible. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. If you go during peak hours you might need to wait for a little bit but they give you complimentary juice and popsicles while you wait.

Disgusting experience and unbelievably rude owner. We came here excited to try the food, but were completely turned off when we found a dead fly in the soup and not just one that had just landed, this fly had clearly been in there a while. As soon as we noticed it, we calmly flagged down our server and let them know. Instead of apologizing or offering any kind of resolution, the owner came over and accused us of putting the fly in the soup. Seriously? Why would anyone do that? The fly was clearly dead and bloated definitely not a recent addition. The way he spoke to us was unprofessional, defensive, and downright insulting. We weren’t looking for a handout just a basic level of respect and accountability. Instead, we were met with attitude and blame. Never again. Save your money and go somewhere that values cleanliness and their customers.

A real craft restaurant, they only serve carne en su jugo, a dish of simmered beef served on a bed of beans. You can choose guacamole and chistorra, a spanish chorizo, to complete your meal. The recipe has been handed down from the great grand mother.

A hidden gem! This speakeasy is very small but offers genuine Japanese food with such authenticity. We ordered the 8 nigiri option, and every single piece was absolutely delicious;prepared right in front of us with incredible detail and care. The sake was also excellent and paired perfectly with the meal. After the meal, we even got to chat with the head chef, who was the friendliest and made the experience even more special. Truly an unforgettable evening; intimate, authentic, and highly recommended.

This place is delicious! By far the best Sushi establishment in Guadalajara. It is the equivalent in quality and experience to Sushi Iwashi in Mexico City. I highly recommend eating here. Keep in mind that the only menu option is the omakase menu A or B, which range in price from around $1,800 MXN to $2,200 MXN per person. Definitely worth it!

An excellent place to celebrate our anniversary. The food was superb and the staff were very nice. I really recommend all the nigiri.

This was definitely a great experience. We ordered the nigiri omakase and it was delicious. They first serve you a salad while you wait for the nigiris. The service was great and everyone was really attentive. It was a nice touch that they let you pick out your sake cups. The nigiri themselves were all delicious. Only one had a garnish, which just shows the quality of the fish. We tried a variety of white dish which were all delicious, along with the many parts of the tuna we had. We tried two different salmons, which was really nice to compare side by side. I preferred the Scottish salmon. The meal ends with a nice miso soup. Highly recommend visiting. I also advice making a reservation in advance.

Tacos, beer, chejuino, great music with a bit of a wait, but overall a cool experience! The wait on a Saturday afternoon was about 20 minutes, and we were first taken to a stand-up area to start with drinks, then later brought to a table on the top floor (though I nearly fell on one of the steps—just a warning). I began with a cocktail before transitioning to trying a chejuino (tejuino mixed with beer), which was quite refreshing (8.5/10). I ordered two tacos: the taco Lyn Mei (the house recommendation) and a taco de cochinita. The Lyn Mei taco had a Thai twist featuring pork belly with sweeter “Asian” sauces on a flour tortilla—it was exquisite and my overall favorite (9/10)! The cochinita taco was just alright, though a bit drier than a typical cochinita pibil taco (6/10). Service throughout our visit was great, and we were checked on frequently, though things slowed down a bit when we were ready to pay. The music and atmosphere were also highlights—it’s a perfect spot for a Saturday afternoon (the queue outside clearly reflects this place’s popularity). I’d recommend reserving ahead (or coming with a bit of extra time), but it’s well worth the wait for great drinks, tasty tacos, and a 10/10 atmosphere.

My first visit to Guadalajara and we were famished from our long journey and decided our first meal would be at Habanero Negro. Service was quick and attentive and the food was incredible. Taco conchinita and Taco Mongol were are favorites. Cocktails were strong and delicious and the Pacificos were very cold.

Great atmosphere, delicious food and really good selection of music. The staff is really welcoming. The service was fast. I tried their Jicama Ceviche, Flautas with Platana macho, Cauliflower tacos everything was delicious and fulfilling. Overall the restaurant caters everyone need with their vegan and vegetarians options. Highly recommended!!

Had a great few hours here after Spanish school one day. Our waiter didn’t speak English so practised my Spanish On him. The service was great, the micheladas and mezcaladas are my favourite drinks here, and the tacos are delicious. Quite happy to waste many afternoon here

Cool little place inside of a small market. There is nice and lively atmosphere with lots of locals and the restaurant’s open kitchen. :-) We got to the restaurant at 11 am on Sunday and waited for 15 minutes or so after listing our name. The food is fresh, sophisticated, and reasonably priced. Each plate was small, however, it was all satisfying because of its presentation. We will come back for more soon!

HIGHLY recommend eating here at least once if you're visiting Guadalajara. One of my favorite eating experiences here so far. I had the Gordita de mole dulce (perfection) and the Cuachala de pollo (delicious!). Service was great and I loved sitting at the long communal table. Heading back again tomrrow.

Wow! What a gem! I will tell everyone that comes to GDL to try this delicious restaurant. From the cafe de olla being incredible as is, to the food, to the atmosphere - this place is a must. I’m so glad I had a friend take me here!! The coffee was delightful, hints of chocolate and cinnamon as I was sipping 😍 I didn’t expect it and was so grateful. They also had a selection of regular or carbonated kombucha that I tried. The two meals we shared - quesadilla and encotijada - blew me away. I wish I could have ordered them both again. And my friend has tried most things on the menu and says they’re all just as good. Allergy wise - they use blue corn tortillas, which were delicious! I was surprised since flour is so much more common in Mexican food but also grateful! If you’re allergic to lactose - being lactaid! It’s worth it!! Also, it was super fun sitting at the long family style table. But I’d say look at the typical traffic time because there were rarely more than two spots available together while we were there. Incredible! I hope to go back!

Wow wow wow. This is an amazing hidden gem. Started with cafe and our group then ordered everything on the menu. I’ve had a lot of authentic breakfast in my travels and this is for sure in my top 3. Love it. I’ll attach photos and video to let you get a feel of the location. Very cute market, one of the oldest in the area, usually you have a wait, but the staff can serve coffee while you wait.

I love this place. A real farmers market with superior prices. I enjoy coming here and getting all my fresh fruits and vegetables for the week.

One can get overwhelmed in this market but if you shop there regularly like I did, you know that you can find everything in this market. I buy veggie and fruits on Calle 9 and some speciality items on Calle 4. We also like to eat at Fonda de pollo when we are there.

One of the jewels of Guadalajara this place is a must see. There is a small (2 or 3 blocks) of retail and food stalls, but the wholesale area feels like it goes on forever. This is where you get to see what is in season around Western Mexico as well as some of the best examples of local culinary traditions. Mercado de Abastos is where all of the other little community markets come to buy their product. I highly recommend trying Birrieria Aceves, Menuderia Chela and Carne Asadas Alfonso. Then get a coffee with the Korean lady that makes the cookies.

We went here with friends while in town. The atmosphere is lovely--open air, which is not easy to find this time of year in the northern US (early to mid October). The service was incredible. The food was fantastic, and the mango margarita--wow! I drink very little and it left even me wanting another! FYI--Speaking to a different native Mexican, his opinion was that yes, the food here is good, but it's not "real Mexican cuisine." On our trip through small towns from Guadalajara to Ajajic, the gentleman explained that this is where you get "real," delicious Mexican cuisine.

One of my favorite restaurants in Guadalajara for traditional Mexican cuisine. This place is slightly elevated, with amazing service and they make and serve a lot of the tacos and salsas right next to your table. They have my group English menus and we had no issues communicating with the servers! I love the molcajetes and the steaks - so delicious! The molcajete they’ll make it into tacos for your table. As for the steak, they finish cooking it on a hot grill next to your table as well. The tequila selection here is amazing (as expected). They have tequila tasting flights and will push a tequila cart right next to your table and give excellent recommendations.

Service & food were great at La Tequila. This restaurant has a healthy stock of spirits and offer many uniquely Mexican concocted cocktails with various styles of Mexican spirits such as Tequila, Mezcal, etc…..

Loved our dining experience here! The service was amazing from the time we walked in until we left. The drinks were great and the food was also really good! We had the mole chicken and the chile en nogada, and they both were fantastic! Would definitely recommend this spot for dinner.

The beef was absolutely delicious. I couldn’t get used to the lamb soup with rice, so I barely touched it — and they kindly took it off the bill. The service was excellent.

Wow experience! It was my first time and I really enjoy the whole place and the food. From food to ambience everything was great. The staff at this place is really helpful and responsive. I tried their Chicken with three cheese and pork ribs both dishes were delicious and flavorful. The drinks we ordered were delicious too. The staff here speaks English.

Although we were worried this was a tourist trap, everything here was amazing!! It was so good that we went back twice. Valentin was our waiter the first night, and he was fantastic. The drinks, the food, the service were incredible. (I especially recommend the maracuyá margarita, cantarito, chile relleno norteño, and brisket tacos!! Oh, and the flan!! Honestly though you can’t go wrong with anything you choose here!!) All top-notch! We didn’t have a single bad dish or experience. Definitely recommend La Tequila! Best tacos in the city! They’re really small though and not cheap, but worth it. Good ingredients, really clean and the staff is helpful. They never have peinecillo although is on the menu, and sometimes you have to wait in line to get in. This is not a restaurant to stay and have dinner conversations as is extremely noisy and not comfortable, much more on the get a table, eat your food, pay and leave side.

The tacos were good, it is a bit of caos in there. Some tacos come with chile, so I couldn't eat them. Server never mentioned they came with chile on them. Also server don't introduce themselves, so when it came to getting the check, we didn't know who to ask (caos). Yeah, if you are on a hurry this is not the place to come to.

This legendary place is 35 years old. We had the pastor, the cheeks (cachete) and the asada. We had a few with cheese and most without. The egg custard thing for dessert was also epic. Super busy but the service is fast and the 40 employees here work like a finely oiled machine. I was so impressed. My girlfriend said best asada taco in the world. The pastor also world class. Great ambience cause it’s a good mix of people and i like the neighborhood. They have ample parking in front of the restaurant and with a lot across the street. Will be back. You must go here if you are in Guadalajara. We had like ten tacos and dessert and a coke and total was 399 pesos ($20 usd) and I’m super full.

Guadalajara Eats 2024 #9, Taco #24, Barbacoa #2: The tacos are good, but it is so unbearably hot in here. Heat aside, I prefer Tacos Juan in Santa Teresita. Service is friendly and attentive, but again, it's too hot here. I also don't personally care for either of their salsas. Although their grilled cebollitas are tasty! Would return if I'm in the area. Otherwise would prefer to walk/eat at Tacos Juan.

Very basic traditional Cantina with an amazing atmosphere. You go there for drinking and having a great time with friends. Good selection of beer, Tequila and cocktails. The snacks are very nice as well. A little bit loud but worth going there as the live music generates a very specific moods. One thing is sure, I will be back again!

Had Marlin taquitos which were well seasoned and brought forward the mild flavor of marlin with a good blend of smoky chili and bracingly sharp limes kept the flavors in balance. Also had three huitaloche empenadas that perfectly combined the earthy and unique flavor of huitaloche with fresh corn and sour cheese along with a creamy fresh corn tortilla. It was all the things you want with a drink: salty, acidic, crunchy, creamy and filling. Aa great dish to pair with the big and strong drinks. Good welcoming and upbeat vibe. 100% recommendation to any traveler needing a few hours out of the sun.

Your typical cantina. Typical offerings of beer, tequila, and other mixed offerings. They offer snacks/food but I didn't indulge. They have an upstairs with a patio and makes it a great place to have a drink. No view or anything from the patio upstairs. Depending on the crowd around you it could be either loud or calm. We arrived earlier and it was pretty quiet. The later it got, the more people showed up and louder it got.

This place feels like a trendy tavern and I adore it. Their cocktails are delicious and very well priced for speciality drinks. Their chorizo/potato tacos are the best I’ve ever eaten. Came here twice because of all the reviews. Food is ok. nothing "spectacular" same as street food. I can get the same thing at the corner. I guess if your a tourist not well traveled it may seem good to you. Service is good. Both times I tried to use my card, their machine did not work. I won't be back. Get your machine to work & let me know if it does and I be back. I don't like to carry cash and your the only place in town I have this issue with.

Heard a lot about this place from others and it was a really cool inside. Tiny so they can have a really long wait but traveling solo it’s often not very difficult to a get a single spot at a bar. The margarita I had was very good and the tacos were okay. I love cochinita pibil so the two of those I had were excellent but the chorizo taco was just okay. Service was as good as it can be without it being amazing. The decor and aesthetic was my favorite part. Lots of cool and interesting things all over the walls.

Laid back little cantina. About 200 pesos for most of their shots believe it’s 1.5oz pour. Have stuff like Tahona, Ancestral, tapatio flight, Fortaleza, Cascahuin flight. They have a good amount of allocated bottles as well. Employees are great and knowledgeable. Will be back in the future without a doubt.

Stopped by this spot right when it opened for cocktails and a snack. Great little spot with excellent service. We got a Zombi (uber strong! use caution) and a banana colada (nice and refreshing). It just doesn't get better than this for a cocktail bar. I can't even begin to describe how delicious their drinks are. I normally drink an Old Fashioned which are nearly perfect here. During my last visit I had the bartender do a "dealers choice" and he prepared the best most delectable gin and tonic I have ever had. Who new a gin and tonic could be so good. It was citric and lightly sweet. I loved it. If you love cocktails this is a must visit. Their specialty is tequila, mezcal and rum but they can do just about anything. They don't have anything prepared in advance. Every drink is hand crafted. This makes the drinkes incredibly fresh. I could go on and on. Just go there and try one.

Muy sabroso! This was the single best food I had in my three-week visit to Jalisco in Feb-March 2024. I ate lunch at Birrieria La Victoria on three separate occasions. La Victoria is the real deal -- and, by far, it offered the best of the four goat birrierias I tried around the city. The broth (consomme) had an incredibly delicious deep flavor, and the meat was equally tasty with a lovely light crispness. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Ste. Teresita is a mere 15-minute walk from La Colonia. Highly recommended!

The place has a retro vibe and is decorated with pictures old school Guadalajara, with a touch of the Chivas Soccer team The order comes in a bowl with broth or you can order by the taco. The specialty is the goat birria. If you like a lean cut get a maciza, if you like something closer to the bone you can get costilla ot peinecillo. If you like liver try the machito. This place is a jem. A Guadalajara classic you have to try!!

Hacienda type of place with a fountain in the middle, they have mariachi and dancing sometimes, the music can get really loud. The food is really bad except the appetizers, the cantaritos are worth trying. The service is slow and low quality meat. The place may be cool but that’s it, there are for sure better options in Tlaquepaque. They have parking on the back but gets full really fast, parking on the street is difficult.

Unfortunately I found this place on our last day. I would have eaten here everyday to make my way through the menu. This restaurant literally changed the way I feel about breakfast. From start to finish it was perfect. Its been 5 days and I am still talking it. Food is fresh served hot within minutes after ordering. The cost.....who cared. It's a really hiden gem. I am going back for sure. Loved, loved and loved this place.

I had the croque madame, and hubby had the eggs Benedict. Both were delicious! The tomatoe dude salad was great too! Very flavorful tomatoes. Sat at a table and waited for one of the seven people "working" there to help me but no luck so I got up and asked if they could send someone to take my order and the worker told me to just go to the counter and get what I wanted and take it to my table. We had to wait for a long time to get a “space” we were offered a “column space” we ordered drinks and then a table was free, we asked one or the bar members and they said our account will be move to the table, after about half and hour ( empty table, no glasses, not drinks, not bags, not nothing….)one member of the staff came to ask us to move out, we then asked why and they said the table was booked… no one in half an hour was there, we then asked why for explanation and three different people came very rude and talking in a really bad way, we tried to find and explanation about how is possible to have an empty table booked… then the manager came and he said he didn’t care the table was booked and the previous account was open… it didn’t make sense… we were also customers, I asked how is possible that a table is not consuming anything for half an hour left the area and they can come back and apparently they are right to claim it back, we are consuming we are also costumers and we are asked to leave, I said to the “guy in charge” how nowhere in many places in the world this is possible and you allow to people to go and “smoke” leave, not consume and claim in back a space… he was very rude, he said we yelled, I said I’m talking loud because the music is loud? He then said this is how things work here … I get that… not good for the business but ok … they behave like a privileged place with a waiting list etc and their customer service is really bad and rude. Came with my Guadalajara friends and it was disappointing, thankfully this don’t happen in London where I live… treat your customers equally and respectfully or you will lose money and reputation.

The food was the best I‘ve had in México so far! The raw shrimp had a creamy consistency, our guacamole went amazingly with the complimentary tostadas, and the tacos had a southern eastern twist to them. It was a great place for tapas similar food. However, the bar had extremely loud music, so it was not easy at all to talk to one another. And it‘s pretty difficult to get a table. Especially as a big group.

Bar. Better to make a reservation , it gets busy . And hot.

Nice play for having drinks and dance

Salón candela is a great place to spend time with friends, there is not a lot of places like this anymore. Feel free to start dancing whenever you like. Food is also good. The tacos are amazing. I don’t really recomen it for large groups of people.

I tried to book a table on the app and it didn’t work. So I went with a friend and we asked for a spot; the hostess looked at us and went in to “check” but immediately came back to tell us it was completely full despite being A LOT of empty tables in sight ( was the place all reserved?) She said there was a waiting list so we signed it and we never got a call. To be honest i felt discrimination toward us because of the way we were dressed. In the end, we went to another place and had fun. I came here before and I had liked it but after this I’m not sure I will . It’s a pity it was a place I was looking forward to come back to.

Decent fish and shrimp tacos, the food came out super fast which seems like it’s all made before you get there. All the sides you help yourself and there are lots of them, good flavors and some are very spicy..great place to people watch on a busy Sunday in Guadalajara

An underrated place for those who crave a wheat quesadilla with fried seafood or a mix. Fantastic toppings as well and at a good price for the amount of food. The pictures are before toppings

Great Fish Tacos. Huge portions. Fun experience. Long lines , but it goes fast and orderly.

Taco Fish near el centro histórico is much better and 20-30% less expensive. Paid 54 pesos here for shrimp taco while other location was 42 pesos. This location, the shrimp was cold and so was the tortilla while other location everything was hot and made to order. The taco durado of jaiba (crab) was 58 pesos and not the flavorful and not warm. It’s 43 pesos at the centro histórico location. This location has only 1/3 of the toppings available compared the downtown location. I was really hoping for the same experience but I was given cold food at 30% higher prices. I also got agua fresca if cucumber (pepino) at both and this location’s drink wasn’t as flavorful but still good. It’s really 3.5/5 food but giving it 2.0 for serving it cold

This one is about a 10 minute walk outside the Americana district but the one frequented by locals seemed to be very popular and their menu was extensive. Two corn tacos with your protein of choice but then you top it with whatever you want from the "salsa" bar

The tacos surprised me by how good and big they are. I had 3 and it was too much. Should have stopped after 2. You order your tacos and can choose the toppings you'd like to put on it. There's this carrot topic that is an absolute must have! Try that combined with the habanero, onion mix and you'll be in heaven 😀

Local chain hamburger restaurant. You can find many locations in Guadalajara. Their claim to fame is the 1/4 kilo burgers that are hand made and grilled fresh. They offer the classics such as hamburger, bacon burger, cheese burger. They also have some unique items, like mushroom burger, veggie burger, Hawaiian burger, and chorizo burger. The wait is usually a minimum of 15 minutes (because they are made fresh) depending on the crowd. If you can eat 2 burgers in one sitting, you get your photo on the wall of fame.. Worth a try if you find a location in your area.

Not bad hamburger, nothing special. It feels like there is bread in the meat.

Very limited Burger menu; the cooking generates so many carbon dioxide that is intoxicating. I would not recommend even to work under that conditions to the people there. I with my family just once and have never returned due to the stark headache that we experience over a few hours later. In spite of it; burgers are great. I strongly recommend the owner to install a air system that gets rid of the pollution.

For my palate the beef or whatever they put into these hamburgers had a strange curious flavor that reminded me of my experiences at my high school cafeteria. On the other hand the flame broiled vegetables were an excellent side option that I can recommend.

It's a hot place but the burgers have a very juicy and tasty meat. Definitely one of the best among burger food chains.

We really like this place, for many reasons the pizza is great, with up to 6 ingredients in your pizza for only $55 pesos and thst they have maintained that price and taste for the last years, it's a blessing! We do recommend this place, you'll enjoy it!

My friends and i did arrive around 9 pm and for my surprise we had to wait on the list so we did for around 15 minutes, after that we were lead to our table and the staff were very kind, we had our pizzas and the taste was very good the type is the slim one and the flavor was good , prices are fine and we were satisfied the only thing ive found to improve is the glass of flavored water i did ask for the peppermint one but at the end we coincided was sort of flavorless ,but all in all i really recommend it, good taste good flavor in a familiar ambient, now go and try it : )

The place has a nice atmosphere. The staff is friendly. The salad was ok. The refill cokes however did not get refilled. The mushrooms were good. Now to the pizza... They use so much flour to keep the dough from sticking to the boards they stack it on. The pizza doesn't get crispy and there is so much flour on the dough it feels like eating raw flour. It actually ruins the quality of the pizza. We were all disappointed with our pizzas.

We had the most delicious meal here. The pizzas are so good! We ordered two specialty pizzas, the wedge fries, a spinach goat cheese salad and Aguas frescas. Everything was fantastic, from the service, to the quality of food to the ambiance on the open air second level terrace. And the prices simply cannot be beat. Highly recommended.

It is not the best pizza place, but comparing with the price range I can say y very good. It is quiet, you can talk easily (music is not too loud as many places) and prices are good. Ah! they have Corona beer.

After seeing that they have 3 locations I decided to try them out. The place has a casual vibe and many employees. The pizza arrived fast after ordering. But I was really disapointed! I asked for it to be made with a little extra sauce, but it was like eating cheese bread. So I asked for some sauce on the side. The sauce was really bad, not even red more of an orange-like color and is too thin for a decent pizza. However the crust was very thin like one of those flash pizza places in the USA they have a dome-like oven. They only have one size of pizza, it is between a small and a medium. But the prices are so cheap, only $2.75 USD for a pizza that includes your choice of 3 toppings and a beer for only $1.25! However I can't recommend this place to folks from the USA or Canada, I guess Mexicans like there pizzas different since most suck....
