Mexican restaurant
Birriería las 9 Esquinas is a vibrant restaurant located in the charming neighborhood of Las Nueve Esquinas in Guadalajara, Mexico. It's a local favorite known for serving traditional Mexican birria, a spicy and hearty slow-cooked stew made with goat or mutton. The colorful interiors and lively atmosphere make it a great place to soak up the sounds of mariachi music after visiting Plaza de los Mariachis.
We were given wonderful recommendations from our server. The stewed goat meat was fantastic, the best I have had in Guadalajara. The broth was flavorful and the meat was tender. I can't wait to return! We were seated in a beautifully decorated area. Our server was very accommodating and helped us navigate the menu. Thanks for a wonderful meal!
Radyrick C — Google review
I thought the birria was ok. I prefer a stronger flavor. The small serving is small. I should have ordered the bigger size . The quesadillas were good. The salsas were excellent. The agua fresca was great. My favorite part was the beautiful open kitchen. The restaurant is beautiful. Great colors. All open walls. Beautiful small plaza in the center.
O H — Google review
As the capitol of Jalisco and Mexico’s second largest city the culinary traditions of Guadalajara run deep, and although Menudo or Torta Ahogada are rightfully loved by many Birria de Chivo has moved to another level thanks to international exposure from the United States to Copenhagen. A trend surely bolstered by Social Media, “juicy” Tacos plunged into savory Consomé perfect for the #gram, visitors to the Pearl of the West will instead find slow-cooked Goat served as Stew on many street corners as well as Restaurants like Birrieria Las 9 Esquinas between Americana and Analco. Arguably Jalisco’s favorite spot for Birria, hours from 8am until 9pm plus fair prices equally appealing to tourists and locals, early arrival is recommended to avoid long queues and also to sample Breakfast options such as hearty Chilaquiles with dueling Salsas and a choice of Protein. Using an old recipe for the slow-cooked Goat Stew, boneless with a lot less acidity and more fattiness than seen elsewhere, diners are welcome to add Lime or Onions to brighten things to their liking while those seeking something even richer can try a griddled handmade Tortilla with Meat and stretchy local Cheese for 60 Pesos.

I loved the soup! I was really craving one and this one was delicious! Also, their mole is amazing
Nina B — Google review
Best birrias I have ever had! Everything is delicious The service is great also, fast, attentive and the place feels like from another era, open, friendly…you should visit.
Eze- O — Google review
Such a cool, atmospheric spot with super friendly staff! The food is seriously delicious — super fresh and totally authentic. They even make the tortillas right in front of you, which is awesome. Honestly, this is one of the best places I’ve ever had birria. If you’re into real Mexican flavors, you’ve gotta check this place out. Can’t wait to come back!
Znobin A — Google review
GREAT BIRRIA. The birria is great but whats makes it excellent is the awesome tortillas, salsas, beans, amazing coffee. My only complaint is that i jusy wanted a little but if queso fresco on the side not anything crazy to add to my birria. But they charges me 80 pesos 😐. But its whatever since everything else was great and amazing even the coffee and i dont even like coffee
Diego T — Google review
Excellent birria tacos. We also really enjoyed their salsas! Bonus of a very beautiful interior and friendly service

Restaurant
Bruna is a chic restaurant that offers a diverse menu of regional seafood, meat dishes, and desserts. Chef Oscar Garza's menu includes soups, pastas, seafood, meats, poultry, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. The culinary concept combines Mexican essence with international elements and innovative preparation methods for an outstanding dining experience. The menu is regularly updated to feature seasonal ingredients.
Fine Mexican cuisine with an art deco meets Michelin star quality service. This is truly a Mexican dining experience you do not want to miss in Guadalajara. The service is impressively impeccable the servers are knowledgeable on every cocktail and dish . Nothing is set on the table with out some form of presentation and which compliments the curiosity of this establishment. The Rib eye chicharrones were my favorite & the suckling pig Wellington was very tender with the right amount of flaky pastry to give it contrast to the sweet moles it was paired with. Highly recommend for adults not necessarily kid friendly.
Aisha G — Google review
I came to Bruna with very high expectations, and they were almost met. The food looked amazing. The 10 Mile dish was incredible - really unique and full of rich flavors. It was a real highlight. The other dishes were just okay in terms of taste. They were good, but not as impressive as I expected from a top nauch restaurant.
Mark H — Google review
Incredible experience at Bruna’s. We went at 6pm and got to experience the restaurant change from day to night. The venue is beautiful and the food was delicious, but what stood out the most was the service. Our server, Alejandro, guided us through the menu options and explained things in much detail. All his recommendations were superb, we enjoyed all the food very much and the drinks further elevated our experience. After dinner, Edmundo gave us a tour of the entire place (both Bruna and Octo). He was very knowledgeable and his interaction with us was a great balance of informing us about the art, history and highlights of the restaurants, as well as interacting with us (my partner and I) and leaning about us and including that in aspects of the tour. For example I told him I am Brazilian and he pointed out the flowers in the garden that were of Brazilian origin. I don’t have to mention the incredible attention to detail that went into planning this place. Overall an amazing experience that we’ll never forget.
Patricia P — Google review
What an experience! We reserved space for our whole group and it was amazing! I look forward to going back! The cocktails were tasty, balanced, and noteworthy; the food was a foodie’s best dream!

Beautiful place, very interesting. Service started not too good, but after I called their atencion got much better.

It’s a wrap for our film production at this amazing restaurant! Fine Mexican cuisine meets Art Deco elegance and outstanding service. Samara, in particular, was truly impressive in her attentive and professional service. This is a Mexican dining experience you simply cannot miss in Guadalajara. The service is impeccable — servers are knowledgeable about every cocktail and dish. Nothing is placed on the table without a thoughtful presentation, adding to the charm and intrigue of this establishment. Be sure to try the traditional Jalisco Cazuelita. Highly recommended for adults — not necessarily kid-friendly.
YMK W — Google review
Very good food and excellent service , the server spent time explaining the details of each food items such as the heirloom Tomatoes salad that they especially got prepared for me as I am vegan !! The drinks and the food was very good, ordered the eggplant taquitos and the hummus and cauliflower!! Beautiful preparation and full of flavors

Karne Garibaldi, located in Guadalajara, is known for being the world's fastest restaurant, holding a Guinness World Record for serving its only dish, carne en su jugo, in just 13.5 seconds. This unique dining experience offers meat lovers a quick and delicious meal of shredded beef and bacon simmering in a beef broth. In addition to their signature dish, the menu also features traditional Mexican desserts like jericalla and guayaba mousse.
Delicious Carne en su jugo!!! The beans with corn are the best!!!
Arasely V — Google review
The location we visited it’s really big, it’s close to Tlaquepaque forum area, south east of guadalajara. We were greeted with beans and chips straight to our table as we seat, and immediately offered a ready to eat guacamole. A second waiter had a display tray of some of their most popular drinks ready for us to choose. A 3rd waiter was ready to take our order. My family took of to wash their hands after ordering and they have not made it to the restroom yet when the food already arrived to our table, super fast service!!! It was really good, we ordered 2 big carnes en su jugo, the guacamole was already on the table, and we ordered cheese with mushrooms. For drinks a cantarito With Tequila, a lemonade, a Lechugilla drink and a coffee. The waiters were very prompt to any request, and bring cebollitas asadas with chips, it’s was delicious. For the bill, it was a bit higher than I expected but I understand it’s a restaurant that specializes in carnes en su jugo, quality and super fast friendly service. I highly recommend for people to try.
Diana L — Google review
The best carne en su jugo, beans and environment… Decent prices and super quick service!
Miguel B — Google review
The beans and guacamole were really good but I was really disappointed with their carne en su jugo. Some of the portraits they had up were cool and the tequila selection was lackluster. My parents hyped this place up and honestly we were all disappointed with it. Maybe it was just a bad day
Fig1717 — Google review
The food was delicious! This was my first time here and I loved the greeting. They are eager to help you and offer you great food and service. At the table you’re greeted with a bean and corn dip with corn chips, a red salsa, and grilled onions. We ordered the traditional Karnes en su jugo dish and as a starter the quesadillas with mushrooms, they were scrumptious! I live out of the country but looking forward to my return!
Michelle V — Google review
Super friendly fast service, good food unexpectedly, wasn't in the mood for a hot dish of meat in a hot broth but it was so delicious I regretted not ordering a bigger size!

Xokol is a high-concept restaurant in Guadalajara, run by chefs Xrysw Ruelas and Oscar Segundo. The restaurant offers mostly corn-based dishes with a playful twist. Located in the Santa Tere neighborhood, the interior features a stunning ceiling of hanging corn, a beautiful mural, and a simple yet inviting space with a long communal table and open kitchen.
Amazing place! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy setup and an open kitchen that allowed us to see everything being prepared. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and every dish had its own unique touch. The staff was incredibly friendly, taking the time to explain every detail about the food and the restaurant’s concept, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Mexico—truly a gem!

Phenomenal. We loved the community table concept and ambiance. The service was kind and calm. Oscar was charismatic and patient. A must for any visitor and local in Guadalajara. Wonderful way to preserve millennial culinary traditions and the native culture. I will return and recommend this place to everyone.
Natalia M — Google review
I’ve been coming to xokol for four years and never have I been disappointed. Their traditional plates that are modernized with a creativity creates plates that are unique and delicious. The menu changes with the seasons so expect fresh ingredients and to see a plate once. You might see it again but not the exact same except for their ceremonial taco. The service is phenomenal and I’ve been a frequent enough patron to be recognized by the staff who have been there for awhile. If you want stereotypical Mexican food, you’ll be disappointed. This a mix of traditional dishes with non traditional ingredients. Tourists need to understand there are many cuisines in Mexico. Don’t eat here if you’re a picky eater either. While it’s ok to not like certain flavors or dishes, it’s never good to go in with a closed mind set. I personally recommend to get the oysters tuétano, or any fish/kampachi dish. Bonus points if you go and there’s a dish with an ingredient from someone the chefs know/their family. I’ve also done their guest chef dinners and tasting menus and it’s always been amazing.
Valerie G — Google review
One of the finest meals I've had in my life! Highly recommend the tasting menu. It will take you on a flavor journey like no other.
Michael C — Google review
This is one restaurant I hope lasts for the time to come. I would recommend the tastings if this is your first time here and venture to dinner if it would be your second visit. It's a lot of fun and the quisine is beautiful and tasty. You can tell that the staff is very team oriented and take pride in their work. I especially enjoyed the grilled oyster with hoisen. Excellent. Could have eaten five of those. The off-menu cóctel list was very impressive. There's wasn't a cocktail that I didn't like but for my personal taste there were some that I preferred over others. There was a simple gin and tonic with romero that was fantastic. Grab your favorite dinner companions and make this a destination for the evening.
Tovin B — Google review
I can’t speak highly enough about my experience at Xokol. We were a two person walk-in, no reservation, and they went out of their way to make sure we could dine-in. On top of that this one was of the best meals I’ve ever had. Don’t miss this stop in GDL anything you order will be amazing.
Tonya W — Google review
Loved Xokol! The service and food were outstanding. We did not have a reservation, but the two of us turned up just before 7pm on Wednesday and were met by friendly staff who were able to seat us for dinner. We chose to order off the menu rather than to do the tasting. We ordered 4 dishes and loved them all. Our favourites was the octopus empandas, the Tlacoyo and the sweet corn chorreada. We were stuffed and could not do dessert. But the staff provided us a free dessert to try and it was amazing. If you are in Guadalajara I strongly recommend eating at Xokol.

Taco Fish La Paz is a seafood restaurant located in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The restaurant serves tacos made with a variety of sauces and toppings to suit each individual's taste. Although not an extravagant restaurant, Taco Fish La Paz is modern with its servers taking orders on iPads. Their most popular dish is the rebozado taco fish, but other delicious tacos include tuna or swordfish taco wrapped in a soft tortilla breading.
One of my favorite shrimp taco spots in the county. Love this place I only wish they were open later and took card. Only cash, long lines go quick ! Don’t be overwhelmed
Haris K — Google review
OMG Terrible experience at this place. It's the worst experience we ever had. We will never recommend this place to any of our friends or family. The place was overcrowded and its very unorganised. When we entered the premises, there was a huge crowd, we didn't understand what's happening there. There is no sign or instructions where to order the food and the ground was yuckk with food, dirty tissues and damp floor. Most of the tables were occupied and the salad bars were stinking. We had prawn tacos and quesadillas, burritos with shrimp and among all the burritos were decent to eat while the prawn tacos were dripping with oil and the tacos were so dry. The quesadillas were awful. Dry and disgusting. The meat inside was so horrible. Not sure what quality meat they use. We felt it was very worse. One of the staff was bit friendly and helped us how to order and she also couldn't find few seats for us to sit and eat. Felt sick and nauseous after eating them. Finally, we had beautiful experience in Lapaz fish tacos at LAPAZ a week ago and that one was so amazing. We thought this restaurant would be the same and totally got deceived. I think only the same was same but everything else is nothing the same. Not sure how they have such good google reviews. That's another way we fell for it. Save your money, health and go to some other nice place
Swetha P — Google review
Super delicious fish and shrimp 🍤 tacos, ceviche, octopus and marlin tostadas. They have al kind of toppings for your tacos. There's also sodas and "aguas frescas" of all sorts. I completely recommend this places. It is always very crowded but fast to order because they are well organized.
Ivonne H — Google review
The fish was barely warm but the toppings were at least fresh. If the fish had been hot, it would have been great!
Steven W — Google review
This establishment in Guadalajara boasts a rich history. The value for the price and the portion sizes is truly commendable. I had the pleasure of savoring a fish taco, a fried shrimp taco, and an empanada filled with marlin and shrimp, all of which were delightful. The self-service counter for salad dressings and sauces is also a highlight, offering a variety of delicious options. While the ordering process might be a bit unclear, requiring payment upfront and queuing in the opposite direction, the waiters are attentive in delivering beverages. I certainly plan to return for another visit.

Pig's Pearls is a trendy, industrial-chic restaurant in Guadalajara that has become a local favorite since its establishment in 2011. The restaurant prides itself on supporting the community and sourcing ingredients from local producers. Their menu features an array of gourmet burgers, including options like portabella mushroom and maple syrup burgers, as well as kebabs for those who prefer alternatives to burgers.
Amazing burger joint that must check out in colonia americana. The ambiance of the place is great and the have a number of craft/local beers to choose from. The service was quick and the server provided me with a number of recommendations. I ordered the chimichurri burger with a lemonade to drink. The burger was incredible, one of the best burgers I have ever had. Meat was tender and very flavorful and the buns are made fresh in house. Was pleasantly surprise with Argentinian twist to burger. Fries were excellent and very flavorful. For burger/drink I paid around 280 pesos so around ($14 usd). 10/10 highly recommend coming to check out pigs pearls.

Greta location, quiet indoor and outdoor seating options. Food was amazing and the staff were great very reasonable prices and good portions. I felt like this was a great spot and I’m definitely going to stop by again. I ordered a sangria and a queso burger and both were delicious. I’m from Texas and I’ve been traveling all of Mexico. This is one of the few burger spots that hit the spot.

This place already has a ton of reviews so gonna keep it short and sweet: Great burgers, great atmosphere (minus those pinche mosquitos), and great staff. Try the pastor burger. and the old fashioned was great! Get some different burgers and share with friends for sure. Lots of different flavors.

Went there with couple of friends on Saturday evening. The ambience was good and I really enjoyed the music at this place. I ordered Chicken burger which was ok ok type. The fries I got with my burger was soggy. We also tried their all the deserts in the menu. Guava pie was really nice, cheesecake was good too and I didn’t like the brownie. The service was fast. The staff was friendly.

To list down best burgers in this city, it is not so match my imagination. Maple burger is too greasy for me, I prefer something light vegetables add inside to balance . The French fried is a little bit dry. Total service is good and friendly.

I came back after years, remembering what a great burger it was. The server was great. Sadly, however, what I got was incredibly saltly, completely losing the maple taste. It was also extremely overcooked.

Amazing burgers! Probably the best you'll taste in Guadalajara. The buns are soft and delicious, the meat is ultra-tasty, the toppings are really well paired altogether in a fantastic combination of flavours. Overall they have superb burgers; the place is clean and comfy with a nice setting. Service is great and staff is really amicable. Keep up the good work!

Café palReal is a laid-back restaurant located in the trendy Colonia Americana neighborhood of Guadalajara. It offers classic daytime dishes and cocktails, with outdoor seating surrounded by hip cement tile work and lush greenery. The cozy coffee bar area provides a perfect spot to enjoy sweet farm cheese on biscuits and perfect cappuccinos while chatting with the friendly baristas.
Great interiors and delicious brunch. It was blue corn tortillas paired with the chorizo platter. Beautiful yard in the back. We were curious about a chili ingredient and because of limited Spanish, we were googling back and forth on translation. The waiter is so kind and brought back phone to Google up the picture of the chili pepper to show us. So warm and patient!

Food was decent, the service was OK, the atmosphere is very nice. I ordered a Lonche de pancita (pork belly sandwich) and got a sandwich that, in my opinion, was pork leg. I didn't want to wait to wait to discuss and maybe get a replacement sandwich, so I just went ahead and ate it. It was OK, but with the Pajarito (bottled) salsa added, the flavor improved. Their cappuccino is very delicious. The atmosphere is nice. I sat at the bar, the service was mixed, with some servers being very attentive, while my server was just OK at best. I will come back to try other items in the menu, and will seat in their patio next time.

Delicious and absolutely would go back! The iced latte was great, and they made a flat white cold for my friend as well. The waiters were very helpful and suggested good plates based on my allergies. I got 2 different vegetarian tacos, which came on blue corn tortillas, and they were SO tasty. Very different flavors between the two - which was wonderful. Their hot sauce was worth a try as well, such a nice kick! This adorable cafe has multiple levels and spaces to sit, so you could have a favorite spot or a different one each time. The atmosphere is lovely at lunch time - very chill and open.

Pal Real is one of my favorite places in Guadalajara, Mexico! Conveniently located in Arcos Vallarta, all the food is freshly made, and the cocktails are truly craft! These pics are just a few of my favorite things, because everything is delicious. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the music and general atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. You will not regret making Pal Real a spot to visit when you’re in Guadalajara!
Holly A — Google review
My visit to Cafe Palreal in Guadalajara left much to be desired. The food, unfortunately, fell below my expectations, with offerings that were decidedly below average in taste and presentation. It seemed like a missed opportunity for a culinary delight. The service, while not notably poor, failed to leave any lasting positive impressions. It was a functional experience, but nothing about it stood out as particularly special or attentive. The lack of exceptional service added to the overall mediocrity of the visit. In conclusion, Cafe Palreal might be an option if you're in need of a quick bite, but for those seeking a memorable culinary or service experience, there are likely better choices in the area. The cafe has room for improvement to truly stand out in the competitive food scene of Guadalajara.
Gabe K — Google review
Poor customer service they only had 4 tables , a lot of staff. It took them 15min to notice we were waiting to place our order. Drink we're late. Waitress awful service and they guy with glasses and tattoos was in another world in his mind. Definitely this place is not worded for me. I believe the torts ahogadas right in front gives you a better service than this piece of crappie place.

Mercado Libertad, also known as San Juan de Dios, is a massive indoor market in Guadalajara where you can find a wide variety of goods including food, clothing, handicrafts, and electronics. The market boasts a huge food court offering an array of local delicacies such as torta ahogada, birria, pozole, fish ceviche, and traditional Mexican breakfast dishes.
You can basically find anything you'd want at this informal market, from sombreros down to chickens! The market has a very nice food section as well, with dozens of stands preparing local cuisine. Prepare to battle some traffic to get here, though, especially on weekends!

I enjoy exploring places that truly capture the authentic ethnic and cultural atmosphere. As the largest indoor market in Latin America, I was excited to visit this historic marketplace. I loved wandering through the countless small stalls, savoring the diverse aromas and tastes of various foods, and marveling at the colorful, exotic fruits. The warm, attentive vendors made the experience even more memorable. Definitely a must place to visit while in Guadalajara.
Insoo O — Google review
This place is a huge maze. Saddle, electronics, food, meat, pet birds, trinkets, soany shoes, and more. I know I didn't see all of it. I kept getting lost and seeing some of the same things more than twice. Definitely plan to spend a few hours here.
David B — Google review
Huge Market! Extremely crowded on the weekends so if you'd like to experience the market in it's full glory then go on the weekend. Mingling with the people and navigating the maze of stalls and food vendors when it's crowded is a definite thing to do. However, if you want to take your time and explore the market go during a weekday when it's not as hectic. Lots of goods for sale and some will even haggle. Numerous leather goods from shoes to saddles.

Lots of crafts worth the trip just to look around. Also, lots of fake designer stuff.

It was interesting to walk around and I would go back again, but compared to mercados like Mercado el 100 in Mexico City, it's not that great. We had a delicious tortas, though.

Incredible amount of tiny shops with good quality stuff. Nice courtyard.
Patrick G — Google review
Hundreds of merchandise stalls and dozens of small restaurants. So hard to choose what to eat. We both had a deep fried tilapia for breakfast a some sugar cane juice in the northern courtyard. A pretty old looking building. The common areas were a little bit dirty but all the vendor stalls were very clean. We would go back.

This is an amazing casual seafood restaurant in the heart of Colonia Chapalita, a few steps away from the Jardín del Arte Glorieta Chapalita where artists display their works on weekends. I was there with a group on Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with lots of families, couples, friends, etc. We were started off with drinks (they have soft drinks, aguas frescas, coffee, and what appeared to be a full bar.) I got the limonada which was just perfect and served in a large metal glass. They also brought out complimentary tostadas, salsa, and pickled cucumber appetizers. The menu is quite extensive with all kinds of seafood. I chose the shrimp "zarandeados" (that literally translates as "shaken," but they seemed to be grilled), and served with grilled pineapple and a side of rice. It was way too generous a portion for me, so I could not eat it all ...though I wanted to! Delicious! All my party's entrees looked great. The service was excellent too. The restaurant has open sides as if it were a large covered patio, but they rolled down some clear plastic tent-like walls when the wind picked up as a storm came near. The atmosphere was fun and a bit loud. With all the noise it was just a bit hard for me to hear the conversation well at my table, but it was manageable. I recognized a few songs they were playing, hits from the '80's, some ABBA, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston... Nice! They have valet parking, which I recommend, as otherwise it may be difficult to find a spot during peak times. I will definitely return when I get the opportunity.

Awesome place for having seafood. For starters, the bread with butter is so fluffy and tasteful. Then a taco of what seemed zarandeado shrimps (recommendation of the waiter) was the best appetizer I have had in so much time. For the main dish: coconut shrimps. The dressing on the salad was sweet and had so many flavors to it. The shrimps were on point. Great attitude of the waiters, service overall all was outstanding.

Visited for lunch yesterday and absolutely recommend this spot. The hostesses Vanessa and Belén were super accommodating amid the busy-ness of the restaurant. Our waiter Cesar was also attentive to our group. Great atmosphere and the food was excellent and arrived quickly.
Zachary B — Google review
Great food and nice atmosphere. I got the octopus zarandeado and the shelled shrimp. Perfectly cooked both. They were also happy to make my lemonade without sugar😉
Roger C — Google review
The food is amazing, it is pricey but the portions are good and well food is tasty. We ordered botana campomar with octopus, scallops and shrimp it was very fresh. The taco jaiba was the best and the shrimp chicharrón. The 4 stars is because the place is too crowded with tables, there is barely any space in between compared with their other locations. You feel you are sitting with the next table. Is also very loud because of that. But in general recommended.
Xochitl A — Google review
Honestly the worst experience ever.... If you are a tourist RUN from this place. The place is beautiful but the staff is horrible. We got a waiter named Luis Brandon Ramirez... Stay clear from this dude... As soon as we said it was our first time there, he proceed to tell us about this amazing appetizer aka the most expensive item on the menu which was NOT even listed as an appetizer. Once we told he we did not want it he attitude change towards us. He not only gave us attitude but proceed to make us wait for our food extrem

Nestled in the heart of Guadalajara, Cantina La Fuente is a charming venue that exudes traditional Mexican ambiance. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, making it an ideal spot for both locals and travelers to unwind after a long day. Amazing bar and atmosphere, went here on open the first time and was treated with some sample shots followed by full shots of the owners favorite Tequila, Ocho Reposado. Returning here later in the afternoon at sunset it was busy, with live band, and amazing atmosphere, 100% recommend anytime of open for an amazing time.

Behind the iconic ‘GUADALAJARA, GUADALAJARA’ sign in Plaza Liberación, there’s a little gem waiting to welcome you: Cantina La Fuente. 🌵🍽️🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽 We indulged in tacos dorados and some of the best tequila in town. With live sax and piano setting the perfect mood every day and mariachi on Fridays, it’s a vibe made for over-30’s looking to chill, chat, and soak up that old-school cantina charm. 🥂🎷🎹 Plus, the staff? Young, friendly, and ready to make sure you’re having a great time. Five stars, easily! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 If you’re in the centre of the city, don’t miss this spot! Whether you’re a local or a tourist, it’s the kind of place that makes you sing ‘Guadalajaraaa…’ a little louder with every drink. 🥳💃 👊🏼⭐️💙 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽

This place is a must visit, people from all over this world come to visit this old bar. We have met some kind and humble people from across the world here. The live music and ambience here is definitely a spot that will make you drink!! Be prepared to do so, you either will purchase drinks, be bought drinks, or will be offered someone’s drinks. Between the live music that plays and the mariachi that arrives around 11pm this place will have you being Mexican in no time. Highly recommended.

Great local place!! Heard the music as I was walking by the other day and thought this would be a great place to go to. By chance, a friend recommended to meet there the very next day...coincidence?? The food menu is limited but it's not a dinner restaurant, it's a bar first and foremost. A bar with a great vibe and local folks who love to sing along with the performers. Highly suggest meeting up with some friends here....grab a table...a drink...order a snack and enjoy the lively atmosphere

Lovely place, you can feel the sixties, ambience top, old cantine, very authentic place, great architecture! I will come again!
Hannes K — Google review
The oldest bar in Guadalajara... For that alone it's worth a visit. With that said, the place is cavernous, loud, impersonal, and when "that old piano" starts playing, you can't hear yourself think. Service is rushed and indifferent, and overall I can immediately think of a dozen places I'd rather go have a beer at in Guad... not least because all that's available here is bottled, mass produced toot. Pro-Tip: Come here and have one beer, to say you've done it. Then go and find one of the many great bars in the city center.

One popular stall at the market is Fonda La Mariquita, known for its deep-fried quesadillas with chicken and mushroom, as well as refreshing agua de Jamaica.
This is a great market. It is small and clean with many home made items from fresh cheese to pickled veggies. We ate breakfast at Cafe Elena in the north of the market and it was amazing. One of the best meals we had in the city. The women were very friendly and patient with our broken Spanish.

The place is beautiful with great atmosphere but the food is not good and the service was not good either. It took over an hour to get our food. The baked potato tasted bad. The pina colada, coke, and lemonade also tasted bad. I ordered the arrachera marinada and it was gross. They don’t accept cards just cash.
Jacqueline A — Google review
If you're coming here, I suggest going for the drinks and the atmosphere. Maybe it was the food we chose, but it wasn't our favorite. It felt like none of it was seasoned, and cold. I promise it looks better than what it actually tasted. We would have told the server that the burner under our food was out but we never got checked on again until paying the check. I understand because they were very busy. But still didn't feel personable. The live music was incredible. The singers and dancers were amazing.

The atmosphere was very relaxing and the restaurant was very clean!
Robert — Google review
Visited this restaurant on Friday, 08/08, and it was a complete scam. If I could give it no stars I would. They told me to sit by the mariachi there was a two-drink minimum (for two people) — which sounded fine. They never said bottles, they said individual drinks. I confirmed with the server before sitting. Suddenly, they brought 8 shots to the table without asking, and then they tell us there’s another 8 coming?! charged us $2,000 pesos! No way of sending them back either. When I questioned it, they didn’t care and refused to fix the bill. I got scammed and will never be back. They take advantage of customers. Be very careful.ended up paying $4,000 pesos, a huge bill I did not expect. Writing this review to save this from happening to more people. The mariachi was the only good thing about this place. Food took about two hours to be served.
MARIA A — Google review
Atmosphere was nice. Camarones a la diabla tasted and look like american BBQ sauce. Food was very flavorless and staff ignored you once they seated you. They are happy getting people in but after that they don't care about you or your experience and it was costly for crappy service and food. Go elsewhere.

Kamilos 333 is a festive restaurant located in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The rustic dining room features vaulted ceilings, archways, and hunting decor, creating a unique atmosphere. Specializing in hearty local meals, the restaurant is renowned for its signature dish - carne en su jugo (meat in its juice), a traditional delicacy from northern Jalisco. This dish consists of tender beef strips cooked in a flavorful broth of tomato, chili, and cilantro.
One of the must-see spots in Guadalajara! The portions are generous, and the flavors are unforgettable. They welcome you with a complimentary frijolitos soup served with crispy tortilla strips. I ordered their emblematic dish, carnes en su jugo—absolutely delicious. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to discover the true taste of Guadalajara.
Rafael M — Google review
This is THE spot for carne en su jugo! Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. As soon as you sit down, you're brought a delicious cup of bean soup with bacon, chips, guacamole and salsa. The small size of carne en su jugo is anything but small, and it pairs so well with the roasted spring onions and salsa. Grab a hot and fresh tortilla and add the ingredients you want and enjoy! On our visit, there was a family celebrating their mom's birthday, and the staff brought out a big fake cake with sparklers--such a fun vibe. It was raining hard when we were there and the lights went out at one point, and the whole restaurant erupted with laughter. Great experience from start to finish.
Josh M — Google review
If you're looking for a taste of authentic Guadalajara, you can't do better than Kamilos 333. This isn't just a restaurant; it's an institution, and the reason it has been a local favorite since 1975 is simple: the food is phenomenal. The undisputed star of the show is the "Carne en su Jugo," or "meat in its juice." While you might find this dish elsewhere, at Kamilos 333, it's a culinary masterpiece. The thin slices of beef, cooked in their own flavorful broth, are tender and succulent. The broth itself is a revelation—a complex blend of tomatillo, spices, and a hint of tartness that is perfectly balanced. It's served over a bed of whole beans and topped with crispy bacon, fresh cilantro, and onions. A squeeze of lime brings all the flavors together, creating a bowl of pure comfort and satisfaction. It's a dish that truly "tastes like Guadalajara." But don't stop at the main event. Kamilos 333's menu is a celebration of classic Mexican antojitos. The "Kamililla," an open-faced quesadilla with beans, meat, and salsa, is a delicious and hearty option. The arrachera, or skirt steak, is perfectly grilled and full of rich flavor. Even the simple sides, like their house-made frijoles refritos and creamy guacamole, are a testament to the kitchen's dedication to quality. To wash it all down, be sure to try one of their refreshing house-made beverages like horchata or jamaica. Every dish at Kamilos 333 is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the care and tradition in every bite. It’s a place where the food tells a story of Jalisco, and it’s a story you’ll want to savor again and again.
Alex K — Google review
It was my first time trying “Carne en su jugo” and I think I came to the perfect spot, everything tasted so good and had that homemade flavor from the salsas and tortillas to tho the main dishes. The service was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely come back to eat here. Thank you Kamilos 333!
Stheffany — Google review
Nice ambiance and good food in an unpretentious, off the beaten path restaurant in Guadalajara. Apparently famed for its carne en su jugo which I tired here for the first time so it was difficult to compare it with other iterations.

We came here after the place next door had a long line. It was good and the beans at the start were amazing. I had the quesadilla kamillia and it did not disappoint. Everyone else has carne en su jugo. They said it was on the saltier side but overall good. The service wasn’t that good either; took a while to bring the food out and they brought mine out 10 minutes before everyone’s meals.

A rather large sit down style taqueria that serves only 3 or 4 types of meat but does it quickly and efficiently. It'll take no more than 5 minutes from the time you sit down to the time you have your food. And the wait staff will check in on you periodically if you need anything else. The layout is open air even though there is a roof overhead. Lots and lots of tables. They do brisk business here.

The tacos and tostadas we got were too salty and too tart. The price was relatively high compared to other similar restaurants. The service was poor, the waitress was unfriendly. The outdoor courtyard is nice though. Also, they provide you with numerous tostada shells and 3 different types of salsa.

Great service and pleasant atmosphere but the food and drinks disappointed. The ceviches were not properly seasoned, and how do mess up watermelon agua fresca? It was a total waste of our opportunity to have great food anywhere else.

Great spot for a quick tostada or taco, very good service and atmosphere but unfortunately the tostada of octopus only had a few tiny pieces of tentacles, and tons of pico de gallo so yeah, is a deceitful and it goes with the name, impostor, the shrimp aguachile in the other hand was outstanding, the black sauce was on point and a very generous amount of shrimp. Most of their dishes highlight shrimp, so next time I will still with it.

Walking into the patio in the back with some sunlight shining through and a book shelf to open the space, it just naturally transforms a frown into a lip lift. We had pumpkin flower and birria one, so delicious and so delightfully fresh!

Love this little gem of a restaurant ! Nestled away in the colonial Americana neighborhood. Piggy back is my favorite breakfast restaurant. The servers are super attentive and clear your table in record time, constantly check up on you to see of you need anything or how you're enjoying the food . Top notch servers, they definitely go above and beyond! The food that I had was also noteworthy, the chillanques , especially the carne asada en su jugo was stellar ! Really prepared well. Also had chillanques with chicharon , and huevos ranchers, spectacular ! A very special mention to the pastries , the cinnamon roll in particular was incredible, you can definitely tell it was made fresh and properly . The prices are really fair and reasonable. When I'm ever back in Guadalajara piggy back will be my go to breakfast restaurant for sure ! Highly recommend 👌 Note : it's EXTREMELY busy on the weekends, so busy that I didn't go because the lines were too long ! You must get there early or make a reservation ! It's super popular !! It's only a breakfast restaurant, it closes at 3 ! As a coffee connoisseur, I do like piggy backs coffee, it bold and full flavored !

This is such a nice place for brunch. It’s fun and just has a great vibe. Food and service could not have been better. Our server was so friendly, they all were honestly. Love the complementary cold juice or popsicle while we waited. Well worth that wait for such a tasty meal. The food was served hot and full of delicious fresh flavors.

Food here was amazing. We had the “Flor de Calabaza chilaquiles” and “Chilaquiles Tapatíos”. Subtle hints of habanero in the former and pretty much a deconstructed “torta ahogada” over chilaquiles in the latter. Naty was a great waitress and the manager of the restaurant checked in on us to make sure we enjoyed the stay. If you’re looking for a pastel aesthetic cafe, with great service and even greater food without missing a truly authentic Mexican menu, look no further than Piggy Back!

Delicious breakfast of chilaquiles, coffee and pastries. Adorable atmosphere - cute, kitschy and bright. The service from Jimena was exceptional.

Love the chilaquiles, great service and the music is always enjoyable. The restaurant is full of art and plantlife, with a cute pastel and white color theme. They even bring the dogs treats! Seasonal drinks and plates are amazing as well

The resturant really beautiful and cozy, the chilaquiles and the orange juice were amazing. And Lupita was really nice and available to help us and show us the seasonal dish

Easily one of the best breakfast places in GDL. The cinnamon roll is incredible. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. If you go during peak hours you might need to wait for a little bit but they give you complimentary juice and popsicles while you wait.

Restaurant
Mariscos Ponte Trucha Negro is a long-standing seafood restaurant in Guadalajara, known for its extensive menu of seafood plates and tortas. The family-friendly atmosphere and massive open dining room make it a popular spot for locals, with families willing to wait in line outside to enjoy the energetic hub once seated. The walls adorned with personal photos of the owner, Negro, add a personal touch to the place.
This is simply the best seafood I have had in Guadalajara. Freshness, flavor, generosity, and service are top notch. And the price is very fair, in fact I have paid a lot more for less enjoyable meals at other places. The restaurant is friendly and welcoming, the staff even more so.

Overall. The food was amazing. No major complaints. Great experience, great staff, it's hard to go wrong eating here. Highly recommended.

Excellent service, fresh seafood with a distinct seasoning. Every dish we tasted was delicious, with the pozole de mariscos being the best. The tacos were great too!

Wonderful seafood restaurant, casual place with easy friendly vibes. We went for Friday lunch. Reached a little early, so didn’t have to wait but the place was soon packed and buzzing. Every dish we tried, starters, mains and dessert, was outstanding. Perfectly prepared and fresh! Eat where the locals eat!

Disgusting experience and unbelievably rude owner. We came here excited to try the food, but were completely turned off when we found a dead fly in the soup and not just one that had just landed, this fly had clearly been in there a while. As soon as we noticed it, we calmly flagged down our server and let them know. Instead of apologizing or offering any kind of resolution, the owner came over and accused us of putting the fly in the soup. Seriously? Why would anyone do that? The fly was clearly dead and bloated definitely not a recent addition. The way he spoke to us was unprofessional, defensive, and downright insulting. We weren’t looking for a handout just a basic level of respect and accountability. Instead, we were met with attitude and blame. Never again. Save your money and go somewhere that values cleanliness and their customers.

Meat dish restaurant
Restaurant
Karne Garibaldi is a restaurant in Guadalajara, Jalisco that specializes in carne en su jugo - meat in its juices. While it is a beautiful idea, many people believe the dish is overrated and does not live up to its hype. The best place we found to try carne en su jugo was at Carnes En Su Jugo Mexicaltzingo 1617.
This place is truly amazing! The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, thanks to their policy of limiting the number of guests, so it never feels overcrowded. The service is outstanding—staff take the time to explain how to best enjoy your meal and are incredibly attentive throughout. The food is absolutely delicious, with rich, savory flavors that stand out.

This place was amazing. The owner and his wife are wonderful and extremely nice. But it dosent stop there… the food is DELICIOUS. It’s actually my favorite meal of all time. I’m a foodie person and this was the best meal I’ve ever had. You’re able to personalize for you taste. When there’s only one thing in the menu… you know it’s good. We have made another reservation for tomorrow!

Genuinely an amazing experience. Super kind and passionate owner who made us feel very very welcomed. Honestly haven’t had a restaurant experience anywhere near this good in Mexico, I’d recommend this as much as possible!!! The food is simply delicious, so authentic and you can taste the love in it ☺️ 6 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A real craft restaurant, they only serve carne en su jugo, a dish of simmered beef served on a bed of beans. You can choose guacamole and chistorra, a spanish chorizo, to complete your meal. The recipe has been handed down from the great grand mother.

Sushi restaurant
Juni-ko is a cozy restaurant in Guadalajara that offers an authentic Japanese dining experience. The establishment is renowned for its high-end, Japanese-style sushi, which features a selection of exquisite fish brought in specifically for the sushi bar by Chef Daisuke Maeda. The menu includes standout dishes such as Akami de atun, ramen, and tofu de edamame con chicharos organico.
This has become my go-to sushi restaurant in Guadalajara and it always hits the spot. The service is meticulous and the quality of the food is on par with high end omakase restaurants found in NYC and San Francisco. I usually go for either the omakase or one of the donburis, both of which are really good deals during lunchtime. The atmosphere is intimate with bar seating only similar to small family owned sushi restaurants found in Japan. If you are craving high quality sushi then this place is definitely worth a try!
Wontaek º — Google review
A hidden gem! This speakeasy is very small but offers genuine Japanese food with such authenticity. We ordered the 8 nigiri option, and every single piece was absolutely delicious;prepared right in front of us with incredible detail and care. The sake was also excellent and paired perfectly with the meal. After the meal, we even got to chat with the head chef, who was the friendliest and made the experience even more special. Truly an unforgettable evening; intimate, authentic, and highly recommended.

Fantastic Omakase. Comparable to the top places in Japan. Fish was excellent.
Matthew I — Google review
This place is delicious! By far the best Sushi establishment in Guadalajara. It is the equivalent in quality and experience to Sushi Iwashi in Mexico City. I highly recommend eating here. Keep in mind that the only menu option is the omakase menu A or B, which range in price from around $1,800 MXN to $2,200 MXN per person. Definitely worth it!
Magee C — Google review
An excellent place to celebrate our anniversary. The food was superb and the staff were very nice. I really recommend all the nigiri.
Cesar L — Google review
This was definitely a great experience. We ordered the nigiri omakase and it was delicious. They first serve you a salad while you wait for the nigiris. The service was great and everyone was really attentive. It was a nice touch that they let you pick out your sake cups. The nigiri themselves were all delicious. Only one had a garnish, which just shows the quality of the fish. We tried a variety of white dish which were all delicious, along with the many parts of the tuna we had. We tried two different salmons, which was really nice to compare side by side. I preferred the Scottish salmon. The meal ends with a nice miso soup. Highly recommend visiting. I also advice making a reservation in advance.

El Habanero Negro is a vibrant Cuban gastropub located in Guadalajara, Mexico. The cantina features a lively terrace and colorful decor, offering classic rum-based cocktails like mojitos and an array of creative tacos such as the taco Lyn Mei with pork belly and chicharron or the taco Mongol with Mongolian beef. Visitors praise the unique ambience that captures the exotic vibe of Guadalajara, making it a must-visit spot in the city.
Really recommend the lyn mei taco I am pointing at the menu. Also the cochinita taco. Ask for one first since they are really stuffed full. The food pic is the "flautitas de platano" fried tacos stuffed with banana! In the background you can see the boogaloo cocktail. It is the best mezcal with hibiscus drink I have ever tried.

If I could eat here everyday, I would. There’s a lot of favorites on the menu, but an absolute must try is the QUESADILLA PERRONA ZARANDEADAI. Order at least two because the first one is going to blow your mind. Additionally the service and atmosphere are great, can’t wait to go back!

Tacos, beer, chejuino, great music with a bit of a wait, but overall a cool experience! The wait on a Saturday afternoon was about 20 minutes, and we were first taken to a stand-up area to start with drinks, then later brought to a table on the top floor (though I nearly fell on one of the steps—just a warning). I began with a cocktail before transitioning to trying a chejuino (tejuino mixed with beer), which was quite refreshing (8.5/10). I ordered two tacos: the taco Lyn Mei (the house recommendation) and a taco de cochinita. The Lyn Mei taco had a Thai twist featuring pork belly with sweeter “Asian” sauces on a flour tortilla—it was exquisite and my overall favorite (9/10)! The cochinita taco was just alright, though a bit drier than a typical cochinita pibil taco (6/10). Service throughout our visit was great, and we were checked on frequently, though things slowed down a bit when we were ready to pay. The music and atmosphere were also highlights—it’s a perfect spot for a Saturday afternoon (the queue outside clearly reflects this place’s popularity). I’d recommend reserving ahead (or coming with a bit of extra time), but it’s well worth the wait for great drinks, tasty tacos, and a 10/10 atmosphere.

Brunch restaurant
Yunaites • Menjurjes Pueblerinos is a recent addition to the breakfast and brunch scene in Guadalajara, created by renowned local chef Fabian Delgado. The restaurant offers a traditional fonda style dining experience within a market setting, complete with an open kitchen where guests can watch skilled cooks prepare handmade blue corn tortillas and fresh salsas.
This place is located in a Mercado. You sit on a long communal table. No reservations accepted. That said the food is amazing. The plates are small and great for sharing. I recommend to start at the top of the menu order 3 items share with one other person. Then go back and try the next three items till you try the whole menu.

Cool little place inside of a small market. There is nice and lively atmosphere with lots of locals and the restaurant’s open kitchen. :-) We got to the restaurant at 11 am on Sunday and waited for 15 minutes or so after listing our name. The food is fresh, sophisticated, and reasonably priced. Each plate was small, however, it was all satisfying because of its presentation. We will come back for more soon!

Wow! What a gem! I will tell everyone that comes to GDL to try this delicious restaurant. From the cafe de olla being incredible as is, to the food, to the atmosphere - this place is a must. I’m so glad I had a friend take me here!! The coffee was delightful, hints of chocolate and cinnamon as I was sipping 😍 I didn’t expect it and was so grateful. They also had a selection of regular or carbonated kombucha that I tried. The two meals we shared - quesadilla and encotijada - blew me away. I wish I could have ordered them both again. And my friend has tried most things on the menu and says they’re all just as good. Allergy wise - they use blue corn tortillas, which were delicious! I was surprised since flour is so much more common in Mexican food but also grateful! If you’re allergic to lactose - being lactaid! It’s worth it!! Also, it was super fun sitting at the long family style table. But I’d say look at the typical traffic time because there were rarely more than two spots available together while we were there. Incredible! I hope to go back!

One of the jewels of Guadalajara this place is a must see. There is a small (2 or 3 blocks) of retail and food stalls, but the wholesale area feels like it goes on forever. This is where you get to see what is in season around Western Mexico as well as some of the best examples of local culinary traditions. Mercado de Abastos is where all of the other little community markets come to buy their product. I highly recommend trying Birrieria Aceves, Menuderia Chela and Carne Asadas Alfonso. Then get a coffee with the Korean lady that makes the cookies.

La Tequila Cocina de México Av México offers a unique experience for those interested in learning about Mexico's iconic tequila. The restaurant aims to showcase the beloved staples of Guadalajara - tequila, mariachi music, and la charreria. La charreria is a traditional rodeo-like event where participants wear decorative charro clothing and compete in various events.
My favorite restaurant in Guadalajara. The food here is exceptional from the appetizers to the dessert. They even grow a lot of their own vegetables and herbs. The ambiance is cheerful yet relaxing. It is a great place to hang out with friends, yet it does not get too loud that you can't enjoy a nice conversation. The food and ambiance are not the only thing special about La Tequila. The staff there make you feel special by the service they provide. They are attentive and ready to serve with a smile. The managers Adrian and Eric take the time to ensure your visit was enjoyable. It was great meeting Adrian and listening to his passion for cooking and the details he added to make your dining experience special. They also have wait staff like Bruno who is quick with a warm greeting and a dedication to service rarely seen. On top of all this the complimentary food items are fantastic. When I am in Guadalajara this is a must place to go for me.

We went here with friends while in town. The atmosphere is lovely--open air, which is not easy to find this time of year in the northern US (early to mid October). The service was incredible. The food was fantastic, and the mango margarita--wow! I drink very little and it left even me wanting another! FYI--Speaking to a different native Mexican, his opinion was that yes, the food here is good, but it's not "real Mexican cuisine." On our trip through small towns from Guadalajara to Ajajic, the gentleman explained that this is where you get "real," delicious Mexican cuisine.

One of my favorite restaurants in Guadalajara for traditional Mexican cuisine. This place is slightly elevated, with amazing service and they make and serve a lot of the tacos and salsas right next to your table. They have my group English menus and we had no issues communicating with the servers! I love the molcajetes and the steaks - so delicious! The molcajete they’ll make it into tacos for your table. As for the steak, they finish cooking it on a hot grill next to your table as well. The tequila selection here is amazing (as expected). They have tequila tasting flights and will push a tequila cart right next to your table and give excellent recommendations.

Tacos Providencia is a popular taqueria in Jalisco, known for its delicious variety of tacos such as al pastor, de lengua, carnaza, and more. The business started as a carnitas shop and has evolved into a renowned spot for savoring authentic Mexican tacos. Its name is derived from the neighborhood where it's located. Locals highly recommend trying their mouthwatering tacos al pastor, which are considered some of the best in the city.
The best taco place in all of Guadalajara. And the service is excellent. Their food is delicious, all there meats are cooked and seasoned to perfection. Their salsas are amazing. Their service is superb, their waiters are all very attentive and always close by in case you need anything. We got to try their peinesillo volcan that became my favorite taco, their carnitas that were amazing, their pastor tacos out of this world good and their costilla tacos juicy delicious goodnesses. Best tacos in the city! They’re really small though and not cheap, but worth it. Good ingredients, really clean and the staff is helpful. They never have peinecillo although is on the menu, and sometimes you have to wait in line to get in. This is not a restaurant to stay and have dinner conversations as is extremely noisy and not comfortable, much more on the get a table, eat your food, pay and leave side.

The tacos were good, it is a bit of caos in there. Some tacos come with chile, so I couldn't eat them. Server never mentioned they came with chile on them. Busy local, authentic, taco spot in Guadalajara, puts our "Chipotle" style food to shame. The 15 minute wait attests to the devoted following this place enjoys. Every taco variation we tasted was very good.
M L — Google review
These tacos were very mid and overpriced. I was looking for flavor but never got any. I tried almost every taco and they were all just nothing more than “good”. The only tacos that were actually pretty good were the carnaza tacos. All the others just left wondering where the flavor was. The service is very good tho attended very well. But also the PRICE. It is very expensive when you compare it to other tacos places in mexico

This legendary place is 35 years old. We had the pastor, the cheeks (cachete) and the asada. We had a few with cheese and most without. The egg custard thing for dessert was also epic. Super busy but the service is fast and the 40 employees here work like a finely oiled machine. I was so impressed. My girlfriend said best asada taco in the world. The pastor also world class. Great ambience cause it’s a good mix of people and i like the neighborhood. They have ample parking in front of the restaurant and with a lot across the street. Will be back. You must go here if you are in Guadalajara. We had like ten tacos and dessert and a coke and total was 399 pesos ($20 usd) and I’m super full.

Tacos de Barbacoa Arturo is a popular spot in Guadalajara known for serving some of the best barbacoa tacos in town. This neighborhood gem is usually crowded, but the wait is worth it. The barbacoa, a slow-cooked dish of whole lamb or goat, is a must-try and is served with delicious salsas and grilled cebollitas. The bean and cheese tacos are also highly recommended.
Delicious food, proper local spot! Had the taco barbacoa con queso and the taco frijoles con queso, both were delicious. I feel like this place hasn’t changed in 40 years, the interior has real character. The people were kind and helpful despite mi muy malo espanol. Good prices and tasty food, definitely visit if you’re in the area.

Guadalajara Eats 2024 #9, Taco #24, Barbacoa #2: The tacos are good, but it is so unbearably hot in here. Heat aside, I prefer Tacos Juan in Santa Teresita. Service is friendly and attentive, but again, it's too hot here. I also don't personally care for either of their salsas. Although their grilled cebollitas are tasty! Would return if I'm in the area. Otherwise would prefer to walk/eat at Tacos Juan.

Loved this place! The best barbacoa I had in Guadalajara. The bean and cheese tacos were great as well. The tacos are bigger than other places I went, 4 is probably about 1 too many. Horchata and consommé soup were also great add ons.

We got there after my mom was released from the clinic. We order, eat the food that has a good taste. But when we request the check they were trying to charged us more than the total. After we cleared, we got back in the car and 5 minutes later I started to feel sick. Got food poison. My sister ends up taking me to the doctor to get a shot. Nestled in the heart of downtown Guadalajara, La Occidental Cantina is a charming spot that embodies the spirit of a traditional Mexican pub. This inviting cantina serves up comfort food and seasonal cocktails in an atmosphere reminiscent of 1950s cinema, making it a delightful hangout for friends to gather and unwind. With live music featuring Cuban trova and bolero on select nights, the ambiance is lively yet relaxed.
What a great little place.. was over the road from our Airbnb. As an Australian living in the States it was like every old man’s bar in Melbourne before it was gentrified and most dive bars in the USA with somewhat less football (and there was still NFL). Staff are great, food was great. Beer was, well, Mexican beer but let’s be honest if it is hot enough it is always good! Great place, also has a giant rooftop bar up top but we never made it that far :)

Was staying across the street from this gem, when visiting. Loud, but that's how it's supposed to be. Was my watering hole, for a week. Great times, great food, and nice people working there. Thanks.
Jamie D — Google review
Wow! Totally unexpected great lunch. Much more than a local watering hole. Food is excellent. Had Marlin taquitos which were well seasoned and brought forward the mild flavor of marlin with a good blend of smoky chili and bracingly sharp limes kept the flavors in balance. Also had three huitaloche empenadas that perfectly combined the earthy and unique flavor of huitaloche with fresh corn and sour cheese along with a creamy fresh corn tortilla. It was all the things you want with a drink: salty, acidic, crunchy, creamy and filling. Aa great dish to pair with the big and strong drinks. Good welcoming and upbeat vibe. 100% recommendation to any traveler needing a few hours out of the sun.
Alexander L — Google review
Your typical cantina. Typical offerings of beer, tequila, and other mixed offerings. They offer snacks/food but I didn't indulge. They have an upstairs with a patio and makes it a great place to have a drink. No view or anything from the patio upstairs. Depending on the crowd around you it could be either loud or calm. We arrived earlier and it was pretty quiet. The later it got, the more people showed up and louder it got.

De La O Cantina is a modern cantina in Guadalajara, Jalisco, offering craft cocktails and regional bites in a chic, old-fashioned setting. The bar's philosophy of 'Guadalajatiki' is reflected in its unique cocktails like the 'Pulque Tropical,' made from Mexico's first alcoholic beverage - the fermented sap of the century plant.

This place feels like a trendy tavern and I adore it. Their cocktails are delicious and very well priced for speciality drinks. Their chorizo/potato tacos are the best I’ve ever eaten. The ambiance is great on a weekday, the staff is very helpful, and they’re very patient if Spanish isn’t your first language. Definitely a must go to in Guadalajara/Colonia Americana!

Came here twice because of all the reviews. Food is ok. nothing "spectacular" same as street food. I can get the same thing at the corner. I guess if your a tourist not well traveled it may seem good to you. Service is good. Both times I tried to use my card, their machine did not work. I won't be back. Get your machine to work & let me know if it does and I be back. I don't like to carry cash and your the only place in town I have this issue with.

Heard a lot about this place from others and it was a really cool inside. Tiny so they can have a really long wait but traveling solo it’s often not very difficult to a get a single spot at a bar. The margarita I had was very good and the tacos were okay. I love cochinita pibil so the two of those I had were excellent but the chorizo taco was just okay. Service was as good as it can be without it being amazing. The decor and aesthetic was my favorite part. Lots of cool and interesting things all over the walls.

Laid back little cantina. About 200 pesos for most of their shots believe it’s 1.5oz pour. Have stuff like Tahona, Ancestral, tapatio flight, Fortaleza, Cascahuin flight. They have a good amount of allocated bottles as well. Employees are great and knowledgeable. Will be back in the future without a doubt.

Stopped by this spot right when it opened for cocktails and a snack. Great little spot with excellent service. We got a Zombi (uber strong! use caution) and a banana colada (nice and refreshing). Got the chicharrones which come with tortillas so it's pretty much an entree perfect for two and nice and salty to go with the drinks. Check it out!

It just doesn't get better than this for a cocktail bar. I can't even begin to describe how delicious their drinks are. I normally drink an Old Fashioned which are nearly perfect here. During my last visit I had the bartender do a "dealers choice" and he prepared the best most delectable gin and tonic I have ever had. Who new a gin and tonic could be so good. It was citric and lightly sweet. I loved it. If you love cocktails this is a must visit. Their specialty is tequila, mezcal and rum but they can do just about anything. They don't have anything prepared in advance. Every drink is hand crafted. This makes the drinkes incredibly fresh. I could go on and on. Just go there and try one.

Birriería La Victoria is a historic establishment in Guadalajara, serving traditional birria since 1948. The restaurant is adorned with framed newspapers from significant events over the years. It's a favorite among local celebrity chefs and was featured on a popular food show. Located in the Santa Teresita neighborhood, it offers perfectly seasoned birria tacos accompanied by consomé, which are considered emblematic of the region.
I had tacos and my wife had the complete plate - both with beef. Initially I ordered 2 tacos, but they were so good, I ordered two more. Our server spoke some English which was better than our little Spanish and she took excellent care of us. We loved this restaurant.

Muy sabroso! This was the single best food I had in my three-week visit to Jalisco in Feb-March 2024. I ate lunch at Birrieria La Victoria on three separate occasions. La Victoria is the real deal -- and, by far, it offered the best of the four goat birrierias I tried around the city. The broth (consomme) had an incredibly delicious deep flavor, and the meat was equally tasty with a lovely light crispness. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Ste. Teresita is a mere 15-minute walk from La Colonia. Highly recommended!

If you are looking for a little taste of Jalisco then look no further. Birrieria La Victoria is typical of the Guadalajara style of birria, but better than most. They have been serving birria out of this location for generations and have a strong local following. The place has a retro vibe and is decorated with pictures old school Guadalajara, with a touch of the Chivas Soccer team The order comes in a bowl with broth or you can order by the taco. The specialty is the goat birria. If you like a lean cut get a maciza, if you like something closer to the bone you can get costilla ot peinecillo. If you like liver try the machito. (Translated by Google) This Sunday I visited the Mercado de Abastos without knowing where to eat and I let myself be guided by the crowd. Seeing how busy Menudería Chela was, I knew I had to try it… And what a great decision! It was my first time trying Menudo in Mexico, and the experience was incredible. The broth was full of flavor, with a perfect texture and no unpleasant odors. The belly and other entrails were super soft, well cooked and of excellent quality. To accompany it, I ordered a refreshing and delicious pineapple water. The service was impeccable, the waiters were attentive at all times and the man who served the broth was very friendly, he even offered me more. If you run out of tortillas, they will bring you more without a problem. In addition, a local customer taught me the technique to chop the chili with oregano on a napkin to avoid getting too enchilated, a detail that made the experience even more special. 🔹 The best: ✅ Menudo with authentic flavor and great quality. ✅ Friendly and attentive service. ✅ Traditional and busy atmosphere, guarantee of good food. Menudería Chela is definitely a must-see in Guadalajara. If you come to town, you have to try it. I will definitely return!

Hacienda type of place with a fountain in the middle, they have mariachi and dancing sometimes, the music can get really loud. The food is really bad except the appetizers, the cantaritos are worth trying. The service is slow and low quality meat. Boulangerie Central is a charming French-style bakery and coffee shop that has evolved into a full-fledged restaurant. The menu features an array of breakfast options, including sweet dishes made with freshly baked bread and pastries, such as chocolate French toast topped with berries and house-made ice cream.
Boulangerie Central is a spot highly recommended for its culinary offerings, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Situated conveniently, this bakery exudes a warm, inviting vibe, even as you join a queue—yes, there was a small wait due to its popularity, with about five tables ahead, but it was well worth it. The food here is a true highlight, particularly the walnut bread, which was an unreal treat, easily the best I’ve ever had. Its rich flavors and perfect texture made it an instant favorite. While the service was generally efficient, there could be improvements, particularly in speeding up service and addressing the presence of flies, which detracted slightly from the experience. Despite these minor issues, I’d still highly recommend Boulangerie Central. The quality of the dishes, especially the bakery items, is outstanding. It’s a place that anyone with a love for great baked goods and delightful meals should definitely check out when in the area. Their commitment to quality and the unmistakable charm of their offerings make it a standout destination.

I am going back for sure. Loved, loved and loved this place.

What a lovely place! Just a block away from where we were staying too! Great latte! The wait staff were super friendly and attentive, not overbearing. I had the croque madame, and hubby had the eggs Benedict. Both were delicious! The tomatoe dude salad was great too! Very flavorful tomatoes. Brought home some croissants but have yet to eat them but can't wait!

Good service overall and the food presentation and quality is very good. We went back twice during our stay. The lattes were excellent! I enjoyed the Huevos Mornay and Claras.

I went here for breakfast and immediately ordered a latte. After a long wait we asked and they brought out our drinks. They were already cold. They offered to fix it and brought back the same drink reheated. We complained that they did not look right. They take the drinks back and try to make them look better like they were remade. After a few minutes you can see in the photo that the milk has been steamed, cooled and reheated by the large bubbles. Avoid the uncomfortable chairs and bad service. Overpriced and low quality!

Wow!!! The food is amazing and fresh. We had the omelette a su gusto and Los huevos divorciados they were phenomenal! We recently went to Mexico City and it’s been hard to find a good chocolate croissant after experiencing Rosetta Panadería but this place is very close to perfecting it!!! Amazing, we also had a great cup of coffee and green juice. The atmosphere is peaceful they have music at a decent volume in which you can enjoy your company.

Good tasting torta. Got mine with everything. Didn't like the fact that you have to prepare your own. Not a fan of people serving themselves. Won't be back.

Tasty carnitas! They offer tortas and tacos, they have now panela cheese and shrimp. You need to order and pay first, then collect your food and beverages. Open seating and toppings available for your order such as beans, cabbage, salsa, chile and lime. The service could improve, the staff is moody and the floor is really dirty, they need to work on cleanliness.

Gorgeous place with a wonderful setting, quiet and polite environment. With both traditional Mexican tea/ dessert and classics like rooibos and matcha. All the employees were very kind and there were so many nice places to sit and enjoy a tea and dessert while being encompassed by nature and a simply relaxing environment.

When the city has elegant tea shops like this it's a credit to that city. They offer fine grades of tea as well as pour over coffee choices and some grape food. They say they are open 8am to 11pm, but no mention of not serving the full menu between 1pm and 3pm. We arrived at 2pm, so I was rather disappointed that I could only order fruit and a few other basic things. I would suggest making it clear on your Facebook page or somewhere similar. Restaurant itself was small and cosy with outdoor seating facing the road. At the time we went, it wasn't busy at all and I enjoyed the summer garden atmosphere.

The only thing I like is their version of the torta ahogada teteria style.. I forgot the name .. but don't ever drink an American coffee cause it taste like water and no refill... And tiny mug.. for like a baby ... The place is well located.. love the ambiance... The staff is friendly and nice.... But they must be artist cause they forget things all the time... I love the decor inside. Worth visiting... If they had better coffee and put more attention I'd be there alot.

I ordered bistec tacos and they were good. Order at the cashier by the big menu. They will give you a receipt, which you take around the counter to where your food is prepared in front of you. The chef will add onion and cilantro to your liking and you can then add your preferred sauce. I’ll come again next time I’m in town.

Sat at a table and waited for one of the seven people "working" there to help me but no luck so I got up and asked if they could send someone to take my order and the worker told me to just go to the counter and get what I wanted and take it to my table. No wonder the place had no people to eat the stale and insipid food they had to offer.

Tacos Juan Santa Teresita offers some of the best tacos de barbacoa in Guadalajara, with friendly service and a functional dining room. The restaurant is always busy due to its delicious barbacoa tacos, so don't wait until late lunch - you'll be disappointed. For breakfast, Tacos Juan is hard to beat - their tacos are so good that they only serve one flavor!
Guadalajara Eats 2024 #12, Taco #26, Barbacoa #3: I originally ate here two years ago and ended up having it 5 times. Because I liked it so much I never made it to Barbacoa Arturo. This trip, I made a point to try Arturo. I then came back to Tacos Juan the day after to compare. IMO it's no contest. Tacos Juan is better than Arturo in every category: food, service, atmosphere, and price. The barbacoa itself is much better as are the tortillas AND salsas. The one thing I'll give Arturo is they provide cebollitas asadas (though maybe you can ask for that here?). I think the service is better here, and it's so, so much more comfortable to eat here. The tacos are $1 MXN cheaper here, too. I'm so sad I didn't have more time to eat here again. I personally also prefer Tacos Juan's barbacoa to any birria I ate in Guadalajara.

We had to wait for a long time to get a “space” we were offered a “column space” we ordered drinks and then a table was free, we asked one or the bar members and they said our account will be move to the table, after about half and hour ( empty table, no glasses, not drinks, not bags, not nothing….)one member of the staff came to ask us to move out, we then asked why and they said the table was booked… no one in half an hour was there, we then asked why for explanation and three different people came very rude and talking in a really bad way, we tried to find and explanation about how is possible to have an empty table booked… then the manager came and he said he didn’t care the table was booked and the previous account was open… it didn’t make sense… we were also customers, I asked how is possible that a table is not consuming anything for half an hour left the area and they can come back and apparently they are right to claim it back, we are consuming we are also costumers and we are asked to leave, I said to the “guy in charge” how nowhere in many places in the world this is possible and you allow to people to go and “smoke” leave, not consume and claim in back a space… he was very rude, he said we yelled, I said I’m talking loud because the music is loud? He then said this is how things work here … I get that… not good for the business but ok … they behave like a privileged place with a waiting list etc and their customer service is really bad and rude. Came with my Guadalajara friends and it was disappointing, thankfully this don’t happen in London where I live… treat your customers equally and respectfully or you will lose money and reputation.

The food was the best I‘ve had in México so far! The raw shrimp had a creamy consistency, our guacamole went amazingly with the complimentary tostadas, and the tacos had a southern eastern twist to them. It was a great place for tapas similar food. However, the bar had extremely loud music, so it was not easy at all to talk to one another. And it‘s pretty difficult to get a table. Especially as a big group.

I tried to book a table on the app and it didn’t work. So I went with a friend and we asked for a spot; the hostess looked at us and went in to “check” but immediately came back to tell us it was completely full despite being A LOT of empty tables in sight ( was the place all reserved?) She said there was a waiting list so we signed it and we never got a call. To be honest i felt discrimination toward us because of the way we were dressed. In the end, we went to another place and had fun. I came here before and I had liked it but after this I’m not sure I will . It’s a pity it was a place I was looking forward to come back to.

Taco Fish near el centro histórico is much better and 20-30% less expensive. Paid 54 pesos here for shrimp taco while other location was 42 pesos. This location, the shrimp was cold and so was the tortilla while other location everything was hot and made to order. The taco durado of jaiba (crab) was 58 pesos and not the flavorful and not warm. It’s 43 pesos at the centro histórico location. This location has only 1/3 of the toppings available compared the downtown location. I was really hoping for the same experience but I was given cold food at 30% higher prices. I also got agua fresca if cucumber (pepino) at both and this location’s drink wasn’t as flavorful but still good. It’s really 3.5/5 food but giving it 2.0 for serving it cold

My friends and i did arrive around 9 pm and for my surprise we had to wait on the list so we did for around 15 minutes, after that we were lead to our table and the staff were very kind, we had our pizzas and the taste was very good the type is the slim one and the flavor was good , prices are fine and we were satisfied the only thing ive found to improve is the glass of flavored water i did ask for the peppermint one but at the end we coincided was sort of flavorless ,but all in all i really recommend it, good taste good flavor in a familiar ambient, now go and try it : )
J V — Google review
The place has a nice atmosphere. The staff is friendly. The salad was ok. The refill cokes however did not get refilled. The mushrooms were good. Now to the pizza... They use so much flour to keep the dough from sticking to the boards they stack it on. The pizza doesn't get crispy and there is so much flour on the dough it feels like eating raw flour. It actually ruins the quality of the pizza. We were all disappointed with our pizzas.
Tim B — Google review
We had the most delicious meal here. The pizzas are so good! We ordered two specialty pizzas, the wedge fries, a spinach goat cheese salad and Aguas frescas. Everything was fantastic, from the service, to the quality of food to the ambiance on the open air second level terrace. And the prices simply cannot be beat. Highly recommended.
Kirsti H — Google review
It is not the best pizza place, but comparing with the price range I can say y very good. It is quiet, you can talk easily (music is not too loud as many places) and prices are good. Ah! they have Corona beer.
Alex L — Google review
After seeing that they have 3 locations I decided to try them out. The place has a casual vibe and many employees. The pizza arrived fast after ordering. But I was really disapointed! I asked for it to be made with a little extra sauce, but it was like eating cheese bread. So I asked for some sauce on the side. The sauce was really bad, not even red more of an orange-like color and is too thin for a decent pizza. However the crust was very thin like one of those flash pizza places in the USA they have a dome-like oven. They only have one size of pizza, it is between a small and a medium. But the prices are so cheap, only $2.75 USD for a pizza that includes your choice of 3 toppings and a beer for only $1.25! However I can't recommend this place to folks from the USA or Canada, I guess Mexicans like there pizzas different since most suck....

Based on the tacos originally opened in Providencia colony in Guadalajara, this is their 3rd tacos restaurant franchise. In my opinion is one of the best places in the Metropolitan area where you can find great variety of traditional tacos made of meat from cow or pig. The major difference from popular street tacos stands is the fact the meat used is high quality, but mainly less greasy, or more "light". Another difference is also the time these tacos are open during daylight and night, when traditional stands only open at night. I mentioned before, highly recommended. Give them a try!

This is one of the best places to eat tacos in Guadalajara. It is the second (perhaps third) location of the small franchise. If you’ve been to the original location in Providencia, I believe it is on par in terms of quality. Apart from flavor, there’s also the fact that it’s a very clean place whose ingredients I believe you can trust. Overall, my go-to place for tacos

Barbecue restaurant
Nestled in the charming pueblo of Tesistan, just a short drive from Guadalajara, Tacos de Barbacoa Omar Carlos Matriz is a culinary gem that specializes in an irresistible style of barbacoa tacos. This bustling eatery can accommodate around 400 guests and draws crowds on weekends, making it a lively spot for taco lovers. The unique offering here features stewed beef served in crispy fried tacos with double tortillas—a delightful twist that sets them apart from typical taco fare.
This is a different type of taco that is a must try!! You can't find these anywhere or if you do you can't get that same great taste. Where do I start? Tacos dorados (fried tacos) with barbacoa meat. When I first tried these tacos I swear I had about 12 tacos. In my 5 years of living in GDL this place is amongst the top 3 tacos in GDL. The others being tacos Don José and Birria la 30. I order three tacos dorados at a time so they are nice and fresh. Add onions, lime and salsa in that order. If you want to get crazy order a side order of consomé and add some broth into the taco before the salsa. Stick with the order because if not the broth can wash the salsa out. Haha. I'm a quirk about these things. Lol. This place is worth visiting!! The one on Manual Coulthier is from the same people and I actually prefer that place because it's closer to where I live. Haha so it's about how fast I can get to these tacos! Buen provecho!

Tacos and consomé are delicious, service is very random though, some days is fast and efficient others quite the opposite.

Tortas Ahogadas las Famosas is a must-visit spot for anyone craving authentic tortas ahogadas in Guadalajara. This no-frills eatery, founded by a retired truck driver and his family, specializes in these mouthwatering sandwiches filled with fried pork and drenched in a spicy sauce. The menu offers an exciting variety of options, including traditional carnitas, buche (pork belly), chicken, and shrimp tortas.
Loved this place. Service was awesome and food was delicious. My server was great and made solid recommendations. If the food and experience wasn't enough, she also tried to refuse a tip for doing such a great job. Be sure to TIP your server!

Los Alteños is a highly recommended Mexican restaurant located at our hotel, known for its rapid service and diverse selection of meats for their tacos. They also offer an extensive array of delicious sauces and refreshing drinks, such as lemon water. The tacos are so amazing that I couldn't resist having six, but could have easily devoured more. While parking may be limited, you can enjoy your meal sitting or standing wherever there's space available.
Great basic tacos. Al pastor were excellent. Long waited but it goes fast.

WOW, WOW, WOW! Before you even enter you can smell how amazing the food is. Hands down the best tacos EVER! The workers are super friendly and for someone like me who struggles with speaking and understanding Spanish, they were so kind and helpful showing me how to order and giving tips like adding pineapple and a bit of lime to make the flavors pop. Take the time to visit and eat here - you won’t be disappointed.

What a wonderful experience! The customer service is on point, very helpful and attentive. The place it’s usually full, packed, but you can find a spot to sit because don’t usually stay very long. Now the food…well, you can imagine right? Truly amazing - superb. Must try.

I went to Taquería Los Alteños today, and I’m still dreaming about it. The al pastor tacos are easily some of the best I’ve ever had—if not the best. The whole process is SO fast—you get a ticket at the cashier, head to the taquero, and your tacos are ready in seconds. I started with two al pastor tacos, and after tasting them, I couldn’t resist going back for four more. The perfect bite: al pastor, onion, cilantro, pineapple, guacamole, spicy green sauce, and lime. It’s a bite I’ll remember in my dreams. I also had the quesadillas, and my vegetarian brother ordered them too (they are made in the same grill as the meat so keep that in mind). We both absolutely loved them. The cheese was perfectly melted, balanced, and so delicious. There’s a serving table with guacamole, salsas, lime, pineapple, and more, so you can make your tacos exactly how you like them. The atmosphere feels authentic and local—it’s a truly special experience that captures the spirit of a taquería. Bottom line: Los Alteños is a must-visit. Every time I come back to Guadalajara, I’ll make sure to stop here. These tacos and quesadillas are unforgettable!!

My last dinner in Mexico before i left to India. Taste was amazing and the salsa/sides were extraordinariy. The best part is the pineapple. Overall a must try. Parking is available in a Space opposite and it’s open late night.

Los Altenos is a quick and convenient spot to satisfy your taco cravings. The ordering process is fast, allowing you to get your tacos without much delay. One of the standout features is the salsa bar, offering a variety of flavorful and spicy options to customize your tacos to your liking. However, due to its popularity, the place can get quite busy, which occasionally presents challenges in finding a table. Nevertheless, if you don't mind eating your delicious tacos while standing.
