Genoa Bay Cafe is a charming waterside eatery that offers a picturesque dining experience with its scenic deck and marina views. The journey to the cafe is described as calming, with narrow, windy roads and beautiful water views along the way. Visitors recommend sitting on the patio to enjoy gourmet bistro fare, local wines, and dockside breakfasts.
Tucked away down a winding, forested road off the highway, this hidden gem is well worth the drive for its stunning bay views and delicious food. Located at the entrance to the harbor, this charming little restaurant offers a warm, friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, and a menu that doesn’t disappoint. If you’re looking to venture off the beaten path, this spot is definitely worth a visit!

Mixed Feelings About Genoa Bay Café: A Perfect Setting, But the Food Missed the Mark We recently visited Genoa Bay Café and found ourselves in one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations imaginable. Nestled right on the water in Genoa Bay, we were seated on the outdoor deck overlooking the marina, surrounded by treed mountains and basking in sunshine. The setting truly is spectacular. The kind of place you could sit for hours, soaking in the views and enjoying the atmosphere. The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, offering attentive and friendly service throughout our visit. The energy on the deck was lively and inviting, almost like being in a cozy lounge, with neighboring tables engaging in relaxed conversation that added to the experience. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the surroundings. I opted for the Bird's Eye Cove Highland Beef Burger. While the bacon jam added a nice touch, the burger itself was just okay, nothing I couldn’t get at a dozen other places. It was good, not great, and didn’t feel like it matched the creativity or uniqueness the location deserves. My wife had the Falafel Plate, which sounded promising on the menu. While each component was well prepared: beet hummus, sesame ginger salad, mango salsa, and pickled vegetables. Her takeaway was that the flavors didn’t really complement each other. It felt like a collection of good ingredients that didn’t quite come together as a dish. Our search continues since my favourite restaurant closed permanently and Genoa Bay cafe left us wanting more.

We ordered two bowls of seafood chowder and Parmesan fries. The seafood chowder smelled and tasted burnt/smoky. Not sure if that’s their style but it wasn’t good. The fries were mid. Good location overlooking the bay and the mountains and the service was okay. Went on a Sunday evening around 5:30 and it was too busy at that time.

We just love this place, and will often just end up on a drive out there! We go for the Humboldt squid and the carrot cake! All the food is delicious, so you might be full and not have room for dessert but just take my advice and get a carrot cake to go!
Sweet C — Google review
We had a great lunch here, Gord was friendly and fast with all aspects of the service. The food was great, I had a 1/2 rack of tender ribs and my wife the burger special, it must have been very good because she never offered me a single bite!
Al S — Google review
On a beautiful sunny day, enjoy the outdoor seating on the deck. Service was super friendly, food was great.
Carol F — Google review
An amazing little gem in the marina. The staff are lovely and warm. They feel like they are invested in the diners and the business which is nice. The menu is fantastic and the food is above expectations. The short rib is my personal fave. Wish it stayed open later, but that's just me!

Amazing service, food, and location. We had a beautiful table by a window overlooking the bay - an incredible setting for a cafe! Our group ordered the calamari, coconut prawns, mussels, and fish and chips, and it was all delicious! Our server was hilarious, which added to the wonderful experience.

Dog House is a classic diner that has been serving hearty, home-cooked meals since 1950. It's a top choice for locals seeking traditional breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sweet treats in Duncan. The restaurant offers a down-to-earth atmosphere with friendly service. Their menu features an extensive selection of dishes including all-day breakfasts, roasts, ribs, crispy chicken strips and more.
A favourite stop, when we go through Duncan. If you’re looking for trendy, this is not your place. It’s old school, super clean, friendly service and efficient service and yummy hearty food. We’ve had many a meal here and they are consistently good. Grab a dessert for the road - you won’t regret it.

We had a great experience at Dog House! It has a very welcoming atmosphere and a family friendly vibe. The food is great too! They have quite a bit of good choices to pick from in their menu. They are most famous for their desserts!!

Good home-cooked food. Extremely large menu. Servers very very helpful and super friendly.
Marguerite S — Google review
Old school charm, wholesome food, hashbrown potatoes, made from scratch, not frozen. Heck even the bottle of HP sauce was old school glass bottle. I arrived hungry, and left very full. Good coffee, and real coffee creamer (not half n half). Great prices, very reasonable. The waitress was awesome, I ask for my eggs dead, and she got it spot on, over-hard, bacon crisp, i want expecting a carafe of coffee, as I don't drink a lot of coffee, but it was a nice old school touch. This is the go-to place in Duncan for old school charm, their pies look amazing too, nice big slices, and reasonable prices on all their food. I might have to stop for dinner before heading back up island. I wish my town had a great place like the Dog House. So far I've not been impressed by restaurants in Duncan, until now. I'll be back here again.

Delicious food as always. Service was great Appies were on point. Bottomless pop(soda)
Renee U — Google review
Well, I’ll tell you what — the food here was absolutely divine! I haven’t had a meal that good in ages. The roast was amazing, and that dessert? Mercy, it was to die for. The chef surely knows what they’re doing. However, I must say, my whole experience was spoiled by something downright unseemly. There was a short little blonde girl wandering around the place, and I couldn’t help but notice she had some sort of white substance under her nose. Very strange and quite disturbing, if you ask me. It looked terribly unprofessional, and frankly, I was shocked management allowed that. Such a shame, because the food was top-notch. But after seeing that sort of thing, I won’t be coming back. I may be old-fashioned, but I do expect a bit of decency when I dine out!
Justin — Google review
Went for breakfast, it was pretty busy but we were served quickly by friendly staff. Had a bit of sticker shock for the prices of breakfast, but the quantity and quality of food made it worth it. They do not pull punches or skimp on anything. We didn't have any pie or baked goods, but holy cow they look amazing. Great all round family restaurant.

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in the Duncan Garage building, Duncan Garage Café & Bakery is a charming vegetarian eatery offering a delightful array of breakfast and lunch options, along with organic coffee, specialty drinks, and delectable pastries. The ever-changing menu ensures there's always something new to savor. The café's cozy and bohemian atmosphere adds to its allure. Visitors can also enjoy ample outdoor seating at this popular spot.
I finally got to check out Duncan Garage Café & Bakery and wow — what a vibe! The place has so much character with its historic building, cozy corners, and tons of seating. It feels welcoming the moment you walk in, like a space where people actually want to hang out, chat, or just enjoy their coffee in peace. The crowd adds to the charm — a mix of locals, travelers, and just genuinely beautiful people inside and out. It’s one of those spots where the energy feels light and positive, almost like a community hub. Food-wise, everything feels fresh and wholesome. I love that they focus on organic and vegetarian options, and the baked goods are definitely worth a try (don’t skip them with your coffee!). The coffee itself is decent, though I’d say the atmosphere and food are what really shine here. Service was friendly and relaxed, which fits the overall feel. It does get busy, but it never felt rushed — more like everyone’s on “garage café time.” What makes it even better is the location — it’s right close to the totem tours in downtown Duncan, so it’s a perfect stop before or after exploring the city’s famous totem poles. All in all, I’d call this place a little gem in Duncan. If you’re looking for good food, good people, and a space that just radiates good energy, this is the spot.
Sheika F — Google review
Super cute spot, and there frozen to go goods are always delightful! Definitely recommend the frozen Dhal soup! The hot food is often very large, and I always feel I could have shared! The drinks are great! And don’t forget to stop into the cute bookshop while waiting for your food!
Jordyn B — Google review
Great little bakery and cafe. Vegan, gluten-free. We are not into the vegan lifestyle but were looking for Gluten free options. The Quesadilla was really good. The rice noodle bowl was ok and could have had heartier vegetables added. The Nanaimo bar was good. The crimson tea was delicious. Overall a decent choice.
Brian O — Google review
Such a cozy gem in the heart of Duncan. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I love how the walls are decorated with local paintings and art, which gives the space a creative and vibrant touch. The food is fresh, hearty, and full of flavor, with lots of thoughtful options for different diets. Their baked goods are simply amazing—perfect with a cup of their rich, smooth coffee. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful place to relax, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy delicious food.
Alena K — Google review
There must be new owners because the usual “granola type staff” have vanished. The ones who believed the motto of “food into your body should be healthy and uplifting” are gone. Replaced by a baseball hat wearing manager and new staff who make drinks wrong. The portions are smaller while the prices are higher. It used to be a favorite stop when I travelled up island. Now I will be avoiding it! Booo new owners!! Goodbye goodwill
Wanda L — Google review
I came across Garage & Café while walking around Duncan, and it turned out to be such a lovely surprise! From the outside, I didn’t expect much, but inside the café was beautiful, lively, and full of tasty looking drinks and food. The staff were also super friendly. I ordered a matcha latte and a few slices of pizza. The latte was made so pretty, not too sweet, and I loved the soft green color while drinking it. The pizza was honestly way better than I expected I would definitely recommend it! Next time, I’m excited to try more items on their menu.
Joy G — Google review
I have been to this cafe bakery many times in the past; the food was healthy, attractive and yummy; and today was no exception. They have prepackaged frozen goods, freshly made meals and gluten free meals. Healthy healthy food, not over salted and not over cooked veggies. For some people used to salty fast foood this will not be what you are accustomed to. However I like my food perfectly cooked and not overly salted since I need a low Sodium diet.
Richard H — Google review
Always top notch at the garage! Superb service, lots of friendly faces, the best food made with locally grown ingredients, and always a new drink to try. The atmosphere is so welcoming and inclusive, definitely something for everyone! Highly recommend the pizza - and the quiche. And the focaccia. Oh, and definitely the green salad. :P You really can't go wrong with trying anything. So FRESH!!

The diner, York St Diner, is a pleasant establishment with a small but satisfying menu for those with smaller appetites. Customers can choose between ham, sausage, or bacon to accompany their generous-sized pancake. The quality of the meal is commendable as the pancake is both substantial and delicious. The waitstaff are polite and professional while the atmosphere can get a bit noisy due to the high volume of patrons.
The first and best burger i had on Vancouver Island: Their "York's Burger". Absolutely delicious with mushroom and bacon for a fair price. Fully recommendable. My wife had turkey roast. very tasty. The waitress was very funny and made heaps of jokes
Crimibay — Google review
Have visited York St Diner many times over the years. The food was pretty decent and it used to be a bustling diner. It had been quite some time since visiting so this review is based on my current experience. I had the Chicken and Waffles and my partner had the Going Bananas - the usual dishes we would order. The food was overall pretty good. The service and the atmosphere was a bit lack- luster. It was kind of like the right moves were being made but with zero passion. Would be willing to give York Street another try.
Sandi L — Google review
The stuff was super friendly and it was a cozy restaurant. We went there for a brunch and ordered two sausages with two eggs and skillet with spinach and feta. Both were very tasty. The sausages were not just regular breakfast sausages. They were deep fried. The skillet was a huge volume. I couldn’t finish all by myself.
Yasu : — Google review
Very nice little dinner, comfortable atmosphere. All waitresses were excellent, providing a smiling friendly service and quick catering. Some of the better eggs Benedict I’ve ever come across, and the chicken and waffles were top notch. This place has it going on, I will return when I’m in the area again. No need to go to any chain restaurant when there’s a place like this in town.
Jamie N — Google review
Wouldn’t have picked it out on first look. Referred by a friend. Convenient location. Good parking. Generous breakfast. Well priced. Tasty. Coffee is decent. Staff were friendly and attentive. Following vacc pass protocol. Sadly not doing supper anymore temporarily do to lack of business and the vacc pass. The decor is tired but I would recommend for breakfast place.
Kris T — Google review
Rating based on food only (the decor is dated, and frankly a little perplexing). The portion was huge, my food was served on a literal platter. Everything cooked to perfection. Best bacon I’ve had out in a long time. Thick sliced! Hash browns done very well. Coffee was decent. They were short staffed but food still came quickly and very pleasant service. I’ll be back for sure.
Samantha C — Google review
Wonderful food and exceptional service! Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. Beautiful hand breaded chicken. Large portions.
Kurt S — Google review
I was their first customer to experience a brand new item to the menu. A vegan burger like you have never experienced. Every bit of the burger is 💯 vegan. No need to ask them to remove mayonnaise or regular cheese as all sauces and cheese are vegan too. My wife and I were at this restaurant a week ago visiting with family, and she complained about the lack of vegan options. The York St Diner responded with a vegan burger.

The Old Firehouse Wine & Cocktail Bar, a trendy and modern establishment located in Downtown Duncans City Square, is highly regarded by locals for its impressive selection of beers, wines, cocktails, and spirits. Additionally, their menu features an extensive array of delectable tapas and main courses that are sure to appeal to any palate. Notably delicious options include the light and flavorful Ricotta Gnocchi as well as the juicy and savory Blue Cheese BBQ Burger.
The Old Firehouse is such a gem in Duncan. My partner and I have been here a few times now and it’s been excellent every time. We were recently there for Valentine’s Day and they had a lovely set menu that was reasonable. Their Langos is an absolute must try, it is so delicious! The plating is beautiful and the cocktails are inventive and tasty. Highly recommend for a date night or wine with a friend.

Our favourite spot! We live outside Duncan but it’s absolutely worth the trip. Delicious food, beautiful presentation and exceptional cocktails every time!! Kind staff and great music. A MUST TRY 🙌🏻
Rita S — Google review
5-ALARM PERFECTION AT THE OLD FIREHOUSE 🔥 Duncan’s best-kept secret just set the gold standard. From the moment we walked into the Old Firehouse, it felt like we were stepping into a vibe that hits that rare, perfect note: elevated but unpretentious, energetic but intimate. Huge shoutout to Owner-turned-Mixology-Mastermind Jeff, who absolutely crushed it behind the bar — every cocktail and mocktail was a handcrafted work of art that could hold court in any top-tier city. We’re talking serious flavour fireworks here. And April — what can we say? Her service made us feel like VIPs who owned the joint. She read the room, anticipated every move, and wrapped the whole evening in the kind of hospitality you can’t teach: pure instinct, heart, and grace. The food? Next level. Every bite was a flex of flavor and presentation. The kitchen is clearly playing in its own league, balancing creativity with pure culinary muscle. Combine that with an ambience that feels like cozy meets cool, and you’ve got an absolute home run. If you haven’t experienced Firehouse Grill yet, fix that immediately. Thank you, Jeff, April & team! You crushed it. — Ray & Vanessa

Greatest cocktails in Duncan! I love a good cocktail, and the Spicebox banana pineapple sour is my absolute favourite drink ever! The food is made fresh and the menu is authentic, nothing you can find elsewhere ! I would have taken a picture of my dinner but I ate it too quickly lol

WOW! We stopped by here with no expectations, we were just looking for some late dinner. They greeted us right away and even pulled over a second table for us when they saw we were playing a board game at our table. We ordered the lango to start and then the gnocchi with added steak. Everything was cooked to perfection and really flavourful! We both have worked in various restaurants in Vancouver and are somewhat foodies and I have to say, this place is top notch. Every single part of the dish was cooked with care. I wish I could remember our servers name, but I want to add that she is an asset to your restaurant - really hospitable and kind. She went above and beyond pulling that table over for us. Love this place!
Chelsea M — Google review
Another anniversary, another trip to the old firehouse! Everything we ordered was excellent and fully devoured. The daily cocktails were creative and complex and fun! My favourite book store turned into my favourite restaurant. Sorry about the pics, food was so good it was partially eaten before I could get my phone out!

The Old Firehouse was a lucky shot on our tour through Duncan. I can admit, we would have regretted not going here. The food is simply amazing. Local and presented like an art piece on a plate. The service is warm welcoming and a really interesting chat is always around the corner. My wife and I both highly appreciate the use of local products and the story behind the wines. A casual evening that turned into a romantic and fascinating dinner in our honeymoon. We are looking forward to be back soon.

What a charming little restaurant - such a treat to have somewhere to go in Duncan with consistently delicious food and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I always get the daily pasta which is freshly made and delicious but everything on the menu is tempting. Great selection of wines, some local, and great service too.

Whether you're seeking a peaceful morning meal or a cozy evening atmosphere perfect for romance, The Old Fork has you covered.
Everything here was incredible. We came because the kids menu was called little forkers and it was truly the best decision. Everything we had was perfectly cooked, full of flavour and very filling. Would come back again and again if we were local.

A good, solid breakfast! Well executed diner food. This hidden gem, tucked away in the Duncan Ramada, is worth seeking out. Clean, with a rustic/vintage ambiance. We were given a choice of indoor or outdoor seating in the inner courtyard. The servers were attentive and pleasant. I judge a breakfast place on their hash-browns and these guys passed the test. Perfectly cooked. Will definitely come again.
Samantha C — Google review
I rarely give 5 stars but the other day my family and I went here for dinner and we had the best service from a male server and the yummiest of food. I find when we order water many servers auto assume we are being cheap and will give a crappy tip when that isn't the case. We just don't like drinks out for the price and size you get it's not worth it and it does make it more expensive to eat out. Anyways top notch service today. If you haven't been here you should go.

Really outstanding breakfast and super friendly service. It’s located within the Ramada but it’s worth going to for breakfast even if you’re not staying there. Free coffee refills I ended up having 3 cups because it’s quite good!

Absolutely fantastic food and prices! First time here! Won't be the last! Never had better extra crispy hash browns than with my Asparagus and Eggs Benedict here today! Mmmm! my friend is a foodie and LOVED her lamb burger!

We’re new to the area so relied on the web to help make our choice. The webpage menu was easy to read on a phone or tablet, pictures are good & accurate. The staff are very pleasant & helpful! They checked back with us during our visit to make sure we had all we needed, including coffee & water refills. (Not so often as to be annoying). The meal was huge & delicious! We had the “Frito Bandito Burrito”. It was very crispy & stuffed full, the potatoes chunks were fried nicely also. They have a good house salsa sauce & also have Frank’s Red Hot sauce (my favourite) & ketchup. I brought my leftovers home to eat later for dinner. Note: also noticed there is a sign up clearly saying EVERYONE is welcome.

Wonderful little diner with incredible food and super friendly staff. Our server was insanely friendly. The home made hot sauce was incredible, and the server snuck us a couple extra which made our day. Very diverse menu with something for everyone! I wish I'd tried this place sooner. I've only been once, for breakfast, but I was pretty blown away with the food-for-value. I had the breakfast poutine for $9 and it was very tasty, and filling. The servers were friendly, service prompt, and I like what they've done with the interior: rustic but not tacky. One of the best breakfasts in Duncan.

Serving top-quality fish and chips since the 1970s, Salty's Fish and Chips is a beloved local spot known for its exceptional taste. If you're a fan of fries, this place is a must-visit! Indulge in their unique culinary offerings to truly appreciate their flavors. Customers are consistently delighted and surprised by the delightful order of fish and chips they receive at Salty's. The batter boasts a light and crispy texture, perfectly complemented by generous servings of fries.
Hands down the very best fish and chips in the Cowichan Valley. The only reason I haven’t put up a review here before because I typically have eaten half before I remember to take a picture. Food is always hot, always fresh and the fries are to die for. As for the fish…..fantastic, generous portions you won’t leave hungry. I only wish I could give this place 6 stars.

Dropped in for halibut and chips. Was greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. She brought us menus but I noticed the special on the blackboard and ordered right away. We ordered drinks at the same time. We got our happy but still no drinks, We got our fish n chips but still no drinks. Sp when the server asked us if there was anything else they could get us. I reminded her of the drinks. Thus the 4/5 stars. The fries were crispy and the right potato to give the right flavor. The fish Halibut was tender and moist the batter just the right crunch cooked to perfection. All in all the food was great and the missed drinks not the end of the world. Would I go back again definitely.
Allen V — Google review
The fish and chips were excellent. I would say this is the best I have had anywhere. We shared a two piece cod and an order of mushy peas. The fries were freshly cooked and nicely salted and were hot, chunky, and crispy. The fish was crispy and not hard, and also moist. The mushy peas are made in house and NOT microwaved. Yes! Finally! And lastly the ice water was quite refreshing. The difference in taste compared to city water was notable. The bill was about $30 for two of us and we were happily, full. The washroom was nice and clean. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved the experience at Salty Fish and Chips The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the chips were golden and delicious. Everything tasted fresh and was served hot. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick. The cozy atmosphere made it even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving. Authentic and tasty fish and chips!

Visiting the area and traveling through from Victoria to Comox and were hit with the hungrys and we found Salty's. A very non descript location in a small strip mall on the highway. We thought...why not! We were certainly not disappointed. From the moment we entered and noticed that every table was occupied we knew we had stumbled upon something great. We were greeted promptly, given a place to sit and within a very few minutes were seated at a table. The service was prompt and friendly. The menu...not extensive after all it is a fish and chip (seafood) restaurant...and that is what we wanted. The food, excellent. The best fish and chips we have had. If you are looking for high end atmosphere and a spectacular view...this may not be your location. But if you want friendly, prompt service and excellent fish and chips try Salty's Fish and Chips on the highway south end of Duncan.

Update: Since the original review. We ate here a few times since as our food stop to and from Victoria. The prices has gone up since but not surprising with the inflation issues of 2022. However it's still great fish and chips even without the ayce Tuesday. I recommend going for the halibut it's worth the extra money. The tarter sauce issue I had with them on my original review is not an issue now. It seems like it might of been that day but since I like the tarter sauce. Original review: We came on Tuesday for the all you can eat for $16, but due to Covid-19 it's not offered. We decided to still give them a try. My wife ordered the West Coast Bisque (Mix seafood thick soup) $4.5 and British Traditional (2 Hadcod, Panko Shrimp, slaw and chips) $22.75. I ordered the 2 pieces Cod, slaw and chips $17.75. The Bisque was pack full of seafood and flavor in a small bowl. It came out piping hot and we really enjoyed it. The British Traditional is basically 2 pieces Hadcod, slaw and chips plus $4 for Panko Shrimp. Definitely worth the extra $4 if you are hungry because they give a good amount of it. Panko Shrimp is was good along with the slaw. Both fish had great meat size, lightly batter and oil was fresh. The two thing we didn't like much was the chips and tartar sauce. The fries lacked a bit of flavor. However I believe you can substitute for onion rings or more slaw as the other tables did that. The tartar sauce was not the best I had. The sauce is the 2nd most important thing! Which is what kept me from giving it 5 stars. If you are undecided between the two fish. Me and my wife think it's worth the extra $1 for the Hadcod. It had a lighter and less fishy taste vs Cod. Halibut the best, but also comes with a high price, but Hadcod is a nice balance of quality and value. Stay away from Pollock if you see it offered. Service was quick and friendly. I am glad we tried them out and hope they bring back the Tuesday all you can eat for $16, but I doubt I can eat more than 2-3 pieces of Cod!

If you have a strong affinity for stir-fry, Baan Dos Stir Fry should definitely be on your radar. This Chinese restaurant is known for its exceptional Asian-inspired stir-fry dishes, which attract a consistently full crowd of patrons. While their menu may not be extensive and the interior design simple, rest assured that the quality of their food is absolutely outstanding. It's worth noting that some customers have reported encountering friendly and polite staff members during their visits.
Loved it! I left with a full heart and a happy palate, already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Abdul once again for making the meal so special. I can’t wait to come back soon!

I am so sad! I wish I realized how good this place was sooner. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable, and that coconut cashew curry was exactly what I needed. There is a small parking lot, and the whole atmosphere was top notch. I loved the light fixtures and choice of colour. If you are a local and haven't tried this place yet you're missing out. I need to try that sweet chilli sauce next time! And the peanut sauce, and the sesame...

Husband and I ordered take-out today. I had stir fry with prawns and he had sweet chili chicken and noodles which he raved about. As always mine was delicious and I love the fact that I can order prawns which are not deep fried in a batter. Service is excellent, very helpful in ordering.

Owner and staff are very friendly. We were a larger party of 5 adults, 1 child, and 2 infants/toddlers; the staff were very patient with us and extremely helpful in getting the kids meal out quickly. Food was good, had the teriyaki chicken stir fry - mild on the menu is very mild. If you can handle a small amount of heat perhaps try a medium instead of the mild. It's nice to have a place with some very mild options though, for those that can't handle any type of heat at all. Downsides are few and far between. Front door is very hard to open due to the pressure from the industrial range hood (needed to stop the place from being smokey), have one high chair which is great but unfortunately no change table in the bathroom. Will definitely be back.

Brunch restaurant
Brunch On 3rd is a quaint eatery located in a charming old house, offering a delectable array of traditional breakfast and lunch options. With an extensive menu featuring freshly baked bread, biscuits, homemade buns, and slow-roasted pulled pork, there is something to satisfy every palate. One must-try dish is the Mushroom Toast, which combines earthy mushrooms with crisp prosciutto on top of toast for the ultimate comfort experience.
Always a pleasure coming here for brunch. They have a beautiful little place, both the indoor and outdoor seats are in nice locations and are comfortable, they even offer blankets of you're a bit chilly, but I never need one as it's heated well, inside and out. The service is prompt and friendly. There's even a cute little bird that comes and eats crumbs under the table in the outside seating. He should get a raise as he takes his job very seriously. The food is amazing and perfect every time! I've had the Monte Christo a couple times and it's so delicious and the portions are generous. Always seasonal farm to table ingredients. The Nook and Cranny is also amazing!! I had that last time and that might be my new favourite!! My boyfriend usually gets the legends of third and loves it as well. As far as drinks go, they have really tasty well made coffee that mt boyfriend enjoys every time we're there and I always opt for the flights. They have insanely delicious seasonal mimosa flights and shaft flights, I can't help but get one of each every time I go. I'm conclusion, just a wonderful place. Definitely one of my favourite spots and will continue to be.

Stopped in on our way up the coast. We had a burger, chicken sandwich and avocado toast. We sat outside on the patio, surrounded by flowers and greenery. It was a relaxing, beautiful place to eat brunch. The food was okay - could have used more salt on almost everything but the ingredients were fresh - loved the homemade buns. Would come back to try more of the menu.

Sensational Brunch with some traditional as well as unique offerings. Feel like eating outside? They even have some lap blankets to use while you eat. Loved their Duck Benedict with a cherry infused Duck cooked in its own fat. Oh. So. Good! Lots of good energy, vibes, and light in this place! Photos included #RockFromRI

Duncan’s gem! We have eaten here several times and the dining experience has never been a disappointment . The lineup is worth the wait because the food is delicious, a nice selection of beverages, and the staff are top notch - they operate like a well oiled machine and very friendly. A must try when you’re in the area. Patio seating is nice.

Such a lovely spot! Great food, friendly staff, and it has a really nice atmosphere.

The flights were the highlight of the visit. The mimosa flights were good, but the Italian soda flights were exceptional, with the white-colored peach and raspberry flavors standing out. The Caesar flights were also delicious, especially the smoked whiskey Caesar, which was the standout. As for the food, the beef dip was decent but lacked flavor. The Duck & Cover Benny was disappointing, as the flavors didn’t quite come together harmoniously. However, the Salmon Benny was the best of what we ordered. Overall, it’s a great place for brunch, and the flights are definitely worth trying.

What to say, we were starving after a long drive… we went to this restaurant based on the reviews… and our expectations gone from 100 to 30… fish pakora have more flour than fish.. kofta is not up to the mark… we thought of having lots of food but ended up having only 3 to 4 items and then went to eat pizza again… service and atmosphere are better but for food I want to give 0.5 stars if possible

Really good food and ambiance. The servers are pretty hospitable and were very quick . They took care of our order specifications “vegan”. The menu could have more vegan options as Indian cuisine is full of vegan options as alternatives are found easily. Pro tip to add more Hakka Chinese options. * favour of garlic in daal needed to be reviewed * Would recommend this place to a lot of people

I really like this place. I have been coming for the last 10 years. Food is consistently good. Staff is usually good (though once in a while there can be some glitches, but in general I have been quite happy with it). Food was 6 out of 5. Had the spicy chicken sandwich and the Philly cheese steak. Amazing. Chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. Although the Appetizer never showed up. Service was painfully slow. 0 out of 5. Took 15 min from seating to order drinks (2 glasses of beer) took another 10 min for the drinks to show up. Disappointing. We were there at 4:30pm on a Saturday evening and the resturant was not busy. There appeared to be 4 servers that spent more time talking behind the bar instead of checking on the clients.

The last two times I've been pretty disappointed in the amount both times the side of fries. The first time was supposed to be a large and it looked like a small and this time came with my meal and it again looks not even like an actual side of fries with my meal. Super disappointing. I guess you really have to eat in to get the full service and the full intended portions or out of luck the last two times for some weird reason ☺️😅 other than that they have amazing food for years and years to come. Incredible service. Just needs to work on the portions and making sure everyone gets the right amount of portions each and every time!

This was a great place to stop and have lunch at. I had the Chicken Ranch Wrap and I would say it was one of the best I have ever had. There was lots of chicken not coated with anything and lots of bacon. My friend had the Ahi Tuna Tacos and they were full of strips of seared tuna and were delicious. We both had the Butternut Bacon soup and it was tasty as well.

After the farmers markets my brother and I discovered the place. It had a chill vibe and a fun playlist in a background. I had the turkey pot pie and salad. I love a ginger beer with bite! I was very happy.

Located in a picturesque marina area, Shipyard Restaurant & Pub offers a unique nautical-themed dining experience. This pub is right on the water surrounded by floating houses and a marina. The food is excellent and has lots of windows for views of the little inlet. We had the seafood chowder, wings, mussels and crab cake. Highly recommend all! The cup of chowder is quite a large portion so beware. The wings were super Crispy although we asked for them that way. This is a great location, it’s nice to be able to come by boat. We unfortunately arrived during a power issue so it took a bit longer to get our meals but our server Aura, was excellent. She always smiled, checked in with us constantly and let us know what was going on. The calamari was really good and the chicken wings as well. The fish and chips and burgers were excellent and I would recommend the cod it was very good. They have a bit of a challenge with the wine options and they look like they are short staffed but they were all friendly and helpful. I have a friend who lives in Maple Bay and when I come to the Island we eat here once in a while over the last 20 years. The food is consistently good. Especially the burgers, fish and chips, mussell's, and the prawn platter. The staff is always friendly. Maybe because I come with a long time local. But they are great. The Pub is quite old, so I don't expect a modern update. Happy that it survived Covid.

It's typical pub fare - not wonderful but not terrible. I only rated it five stars because with everything being so expensive these days I do my research before going out and was very disappointed to find out that the website pricing had not been updated. Be warned that it's fairly substantially more expensive than the website. It's not out of the ball park for similar fare - but I was disappointed as I thought I had found a place with great prices. Cute place, average food, great service. I'm not mad I went but I probably won't be back either.

Fairly mediocre experience here overall, and don't think I would go back. Atmosphere was nice and the ship style decor / structure was fun and unique. Staff didn't give me the nice inviting feeling. I ordered a halibut burger and they sent chicken bacon instead, given it was late i didnt want to send it back and I like chicken so I ate it no hassle. Server didn't really seem to care about the mix-up and only offered to charge me for a chicken burger and not the halibut. I don't know in my experience for cases like this you offer a free pop or SOMETHING as a sorry and thank you for not being a hassle. Chicken burger was actually quite bad as well, bottom bun was soggy and chicken tasted old/ reheated. I won't be going back

The menu had lots of options for everyone in the group. There was lots of seating with plenty big cosy booths. Music wasn't too loud. Air conditioning worked well. This was exactly what our group was looking for after tubing the Cowichan River. Fish and chips was very good. Fries were really tasty and they gave me a lot. Half portion Caesar salad was generous. Update. Amazing what 2 weeks of training can do. Staff were much more relaxed and non rushed. I truly appreciate the changes and better air conditioning in the restaurant. Food was very good, and although it was not expected, the additional conversations with staff were light hearted and cheerful. I really appreciate the less ice in the drinks, extra napkins and coaters on the tables. Also got informed on their app, which allows you to gain points towards a meal, or even use the accumulation to pay part of your bill. Nice touch. Highly recommended.

Had such a great time at Mr Mikes! The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. They’ve got a big outdoor area that’s awesome for larger groups, and the inside is really clean and comfy too. Plus, it’s in a super handy spot—right by Thrifty’s and a beer and wine store. The menu has a ton of variety—steak, pasta, chicken strips, and I’ve gotta say the lobster dip was a favorite at our table. Our food came out fast and everything was tasty. The vibe is really fun and social, which makes it perfect whether you’re grabbing a casual bite, going on a date night, or out with a whole team. Definitely looking forward to coming back again!

Visited Romeo's on Valentine's Day for dinner and fortunately had made a reservation. My spouse opted for a Caesar salad as an appetizer and expressed it was one of the finest they had ever tasted. The cuisine itself was delectable, and the staff were exceptional despite the crowded atmosphere. Our server was outstanding, ensuring our drinks were continuously refilled without us having to request assistance. We are definitely planning on returning to Romeo's for another wonderful evening. Many thanks!
5 stars. My friend and I went to the cowichan estuary for a day of bird photography and we dont know Duncan that well. We ironically chose Romeos because the traffic was horrendous and we would be staying on the side of the highway we wanted. Menu looked good so thought we would give it a go. She had the Gyro I had the chicken souvlaki wrap. Both were freaking delicious. Greek salad on the side- delicious. French fries- HUGE and delicious as helllllll. Everyone was very nice and friendly. Espresso martinis were good. Not a 10 out of 10 but if youre like me and live where there's no restaurants that do an espresso martini..youre happy nonetheless. Thank you for a great first experience- cant wait to try the lasagne lol.

We were a table of 4 out for a birthday celebration. 2 of the dishes were not what we ordered. Taken back and new dishes sent out after 2 of the diners were almost done. The lasagna dish was more like hamburger helper than lasagna. The spinach cannelloni with marinara as great once it was replaced. The service was good. We were not charged for the lasagna, told we were getting 10% off the tab for the but that didn't appear on the final bill. Atmosphere was nice.

Absolutely choked that after being a loyal customer since their reopening all of a sudden our address is just outside their delivery area, when did I find this out? When I placed an order and didn’t receive a call back until 15 minutes later that they are cancelling my order. Conveniently, I can get delivery from all of the big box pizza places but when I try to support something locally owned and operated, it’s a no go, and people wonder why these businesses are going out of business. At least large corporations have a standard customer service that’s relatively consistent and while they may not be perfect, at least I can get a freaking pizza. But here’s a kicker when I use the map function it says that they are 8.8 km away from my house And they say there maximum distance is 10 km. I get it, it’s just pizza, but we have limited Options in this area and it was nice to have a locally owned option.

We’ve been there as a group of 15+ people, as a family of 4, and dined multiple times as two people. The one constant is that no matter how many or how few of us there are, they go the extra mile to provide excellent service. It’s nice to feel appreciated 🙌

We had the best Greek waitress. She was friendly, helpful, courteous and remembered everything about our orders. We were so happy with her we came back a 2nd time while vacationing at Lake Cowichan.

Service was excellent start to finish, ladies at the front greeting & our server were very kind & welcoming, unforchinitly the food was not, which is why paying customers go to establishments. We ordered the dry rib appetizer & was quite disappointed, they were extremely overcooked and the oil they were cooked in gave them the burnt dirty taste. Main dishes were Chicken Souvlaki Wrap which had very little to the imagination with only a small spoon full of taziki & 12 small piece’s of red onion (no tomato due to allergy) & super soggy dripping wet chicken pieces/slices, for the price one would have expected fresh lettuce & feta fully loaded true Greek style, but this was slapped together with minor ingredients. Second item was Fish & Chips, the fish had more batter then actual fish & again the burnt dirty oil taste to it. Shockily the fries were the better part of the entire meals, possiably cooked in a separate fryer & maintained/cleaned regularly for freshness. We were excited to here visit since the new take over & remodel, gave it a try & sadly won’t return as the value isn’t there. Best of luck to them in there business we hope them well, Resturaunt is a tough industry.

Really was hoping they would improve the food when they closed and did the remodel. Unfortunately, they decided to continue to use frozen food truck deliveries. Sauces and dips are all premade and not even the "good" quality ones Sysco sleps. The waiter was new, but he did an awesome job. He got 20% tip, but only because we know the food decisions are out of his hands. We were really hoping new management would breathe some freshness into the food, but nope. It's still really bad.

Original Joe's is a vibrant and relaxed eatery that offers a variety of dishes like burgers, bowls, poutine, and more. They also have a well-stocked bar with happy hour specials. On one occasion, there was a prolonged wait for food, but the quality was worth it and the staff tried their best to accommodate. However, on another visit, everything was served promptly, leaving an excellent impression. The buffalo chicken wrap is exceptional and hard to find elsewhere in this area.
My first time at OJ's and I really enjoyed the teriyaki chicken. A lil bit spicy for me however I was hungry lol. My family went with me as we were travelling and they all enjoyed their food. The server was nice and understood my joke after awhile so that was cool. A bit of a wait for the food however not extremely long. Good food always takes time.

This experience is from a couple of weeks ago. No, I do not want to email guest services so please take this review as an opportunity to adjust and improve as I waited to be clear and honest with this feedback. We had a table for 10 at dinner time. I could tell our server was a nice human, just lacked the skills to handle a large table - lacked attentiveness and awareness. There were moments where talking to her friends was more of a priority. I have read reviews where it is too dark in the restaurant. True. Most of the time I can't tell if they are open from the street. The music was a bit too loud to the point we were having to shout at each other to have a conversation. The food met the baseline standard, Sysco style. Had the Chicken Gyoza and the Mini Yorkies. They were decent. The Pickleback Caesar was the best part of my experience - great presentation, great ratio of ingredients.

Original Joe's is my husband & my "go to place" anytime we feel like not cooking, or to just kick back and relax with a delicious meal. We especially like that O.J.'s has these special menus, example: Summer Menu, Mother's Day, Father's Day etc. Which have been very enjoyable and affordable menus. The drinks are very well done also. I must say cudos to the chef(s) for making the Appetizers so delicious and revising them occasionally. Our most favourite appie is the Bruschetta...mmmm. The servers have always been very pleasant also. Keep up the good work. :)

Looking for a sushi place, my daughter suggested we try here as she had used it for take-out before. We were greeted and seated promptly by friendly staff. Beverages (water & green tea) arrived quickly with the menus. We waited 15 minutes to place our order, though the restaurant wasn't overly busy. Knowing the food is made fresh, we anticipated a bit of a wait. The wonton soup was incredible – the flavor was amazing. The California and dynamite rolls were also very good. It took a while to get our bill once we were finished. All in all, great food, but be prepared for a leisurely, relaxing meal. Yes, I will return.

The sushi was good. The service was rushed and we had to return as our order was incomplete. We were forewarned by the sign on the door that they were short-staffed--fair enough-- but an acknowlegement of the error or a brief I'm sorry would have gone a long way. Not a deal breaker. I would go back. The food was fresh and tasty and the young staff were doing there best.

Our favourite sushi place in Duncan that also offers excellent Vietnamese dishes. Fantastic service. Delicious rolls and tasty pho. Ample seating with options for groups of all sizes. Very clean washrooms. We’ve been eating here regularly for more than 10 years and it’s always been consistently great. Park in the lot next door or at the train station in the park nearby if street parking is full.

Recommended by a friend, ordered crispy noodle with beef, not sure how the chef designed the dish but long crooked fried noodle is the most difficult thing to put in mouth. Sauce tasted good, beef is bland probably not marinated but at least it’s tender, veggie is crisp. Overall not worth the money paid. Way too overpriced.

Really friendly and attentive staff. Even on a busy night. Restaurant was very clean and cozy. Staff even went out of their way to turn on their Christmas display (a toy train) for some curious children. All food was good but the Brussels sprouts appetizer was outstanding!! We were seated, greeted, given drinks menus all very quickly. Food came fast despite a packed house.

My husband and I used to avoid going to White Spot for many many years. Service was bad, food was ok but we always had the feeling they were trying to save every single penny giving with everything. We decided to give it a try and we happily report service had improved big time. This actually had become our go to place for breakfast on the weekends. (I should not share this, otherwise people will start going more 😉) but wait is short, we love the waitresses and hostesses(specially Cassandra and Fernanda). Menu is limited but food is good. They give you little portions of condiments but they can gladly bring you more if you ask for them. Good place now overall.

We went to Whitespot for the first time in about 5 years. Atmosphere was very welcoming & comforatable, we were greeted & seated very promptly within arrival. Our server was an absolute gem (can’t recall her name but could definitly pick her out again), very personable, tentative & helpful. She made the interaction worth while & definitly a memoriable moment, Nat would be proud of her 😉 Our food was very well made & presented, amazing tastes but not over powering, great size portions & a for price. The new summer lemonades are delicious too, very refreshing & not overly sweet/sugary tasting. 5 stars to Nick & his team!

Swing by on a week day non peak dinner. Place was quite empty. Took awhile before someone came and took our order. There was like 3 other staff around chit chatting. My kids needed their juice refilled and they were waving / saying excuese me to one of the staff at the bar and was promptly ignored. Finally, the original staff who took our order was available and the kids finally got their refills. Food came out ok. But when we finally got the drinks refilled. My pop was so watered down that there was hardly any gas/taste. Very different from the original fizzy pop thst was provided. I guess... any fast food joint might give them a run for money.

We had a pleasant dinner here, when we visited Duncan over the weekend. The restaurant wasn't busy, and the staff were present to welcome us and get our orders. Menu items are all right, a little pricier than I'd hope but that's just how it is living on the island. The restaurant was dimly lit but it felt relaxing for an evening meal. My shrimp Alfredo was great, and the table had spices and toppings to use. We left with a good meal, and will definitely recommend stopping here if you're visiting the Duncan area.

We dine here all the time and the food and service are always excellent. Thanks to Heritage, I have discovered a fondness for Indian food. My favorite is the chicken tikka, and their naan bread (especially onion naan) is so delicious! I've tried the paneer as well, it was great. And my husband loves their mango chicken and butter chicken. You can't really go wrong with anything on their menu. 10/10 highly recommend!

He didn’t come again to ask anything. Atmosphere also not good // don’t go over there and don’t waste your money on your special day 🕉️🙏

I've eaten here a few times over the years and the food is always fresh, hot and tasty. This time didn't disappoint. We ordered the chicken pakora which was good and a generous portion, although the chicken was a little dry. The fish tandoori was very juicy and delicious as was the stuffed keema naan. Probably the best stuffed naan I've had on Vancouver Island. The service was friendly and generally prompt although they didn't clear up any of the plates at the end, even though we were the only ones in the restaurant at that time. There are better curry restaurants on the island, but this place certainly won't disappoint. We enjoyed our lunch and will be back. The chai tea was also great!

Generous with fillings, super tasty, and options you don't see everywhere else! Multiple fresh made pies which change. There's a cute patio section if you walk through. Has such a genuine, old school, small town vibe. The poutine comes with grated cheese instead of cheese curds, but it tasted great and the fries were the best I've had in a long time, fresh and crispy! There isn't much parking but I'd recommend parking and walking anyway, there are plenty of places to see on the way! Help keep downtown alive. We'll definitely be back!

Love this little local diner but this is the second time we have gone in for a late breakfast (9:30), which they say they serve until 11, and gotten hash browns that were obviously made for the 7 am crowd. And the bacon had also been on the grill around that time. The pancake, however, was wonderful, huge and fluffy. The waitresses are great and the service is friendly. We'll be back, but not for breakfast.

It’s a cute old school restaurant with a nice outdoor deck and lovely service but the food was incredibly underwhelming and quite expensive for the quality you get. The toast was thin and plain tasting. The eggs lacked flavour and the hash tasted more like grease than anything else. For $16 I expected slightly better quality. So while it wasn’t a bad experience it wasn’t somewhere I would go again.

I ordered the sandwich. I don’t really think it looks anything like it does in the menu, but that’s just my opinion it taste OK. Soggy sweet potato fries with no dip that’s supposed to come with a Sriracha dip I believe after paying $28 you think I’d be a bit better $30 for a one slice of roast beef or it’s supposed to be steak on here or something
Jeremy M — Google review
Let me first say, that going to BP and reviewing it and NOT getting their pizza is perhaps nonsensical, but let me explain. I'm on carnivore diet and only eat meat. So the entire menu is out EXCEPT for salt and pepper dry rub oven baked(not fried) wings. So this is my take. The wings were cooked fine, but at $28 plus tax plus tip for 16 wings is questionable in my mind. What solidified my general dissatisfaction was the fact that the size of the wings were wildly inconsistent. About 50% of the wings seemed really small in size. That's my biggest complaint. But I was only here for the UFC so once I factored that in I could justify the wings... but if not coming here to watch a nearly $100 pay per view for free, I'm not sure there is above average value here. I'll bet their pizza I fine though...but I'll never know. At any rate. Nothing wrong with the greeters or servers they run around and keep the place moving like most places so I tired her $10 for my $30 meal. At any rate.... glad they show UFC... I will come again for UFC but I'll eat first before i come, tip my waitress good still, but drink water.

Just had a terrible experience. We sat down with only a few tables occupied. the service needs to improve; we were not given water, cutlery, napkins and had to ask for them. The food came and the staff member had their thumb in the food. The side plates were put on the table and 2 of them were dirty. Next came the food and all of us got food except one and he had to wait another 5 minutes. There were several hairs on my plate under the pizza so it was returned. On the table behind us, the dirty dishes had been left and none of the staff bothered to clean them away the whole time we were there. Our view out the window were junkies getting high after their sullplier dropped their drugs off. This used to be a great place fir a family supper, but it's gone down hill. So sad.

Edit: and like clockwork, they come out with the online survey which is WORK for me, the customer to do. How about you just be a proper restaurant? Pathetic. Only went because nothing else was open, so our expectations were already low, but wow they managed to go even lower. Soggy Caesar Salad that they charged $16 for, and an Undercooked pizza for $37, and the server refused to give a discount on that salad, but I stood my ground and they relented even after threatening to call the police. Didn't even come refill my water during this whole debacle. That salad should've been taken off our bill altogether, but hey we got a 10 percent discount for this nonsense. I don't believe any of these positive reviews on here for a second. It's Boston pizza! Franchise owners can easily pay companies to make fake reviews.

The female servers were both good but the man that came to settle was terrible, no hello, didn't ask how the food was, just gave me the terminal and turned around. Minimum tip is 15%, which would be fine IF he didn't suck at his job and the desert was UNreasonable relative to the advertised picture. This guy did a great job at making sure I never return. He literally took the terminal without saying a word and walked away. No thank you for the Tip, thank you for coming, nothing. If I was the owner, he'd be done tonight. And yes I know the industry, I worked it years ago and no it wasn't busy at all, nearly dead at 9:45pm. Note the lack of ice cream vs the menu picture, that's simple dishonest and being cheap.

What a joke. I have never had a more disgusting burger than the one I ordered from here. Maple bacon cheese burger is not supposed to leave a curry taste in my mouth after. They put the huge gravy container in with the handful of fries lol. That was a 25$ mistake.

The sushi at Sushi House was delightful. The menu offered a wide variety of options, including both traditional rolls and unique creations. The takeout sashimi lunch box was particularly enjoyable, providing an ample amount of delectable food at an affordable price. The service provided by the staff was unmatched, with kind and friendly employees ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Additionally, the speed of service was exceptional, making it one of the quickest restaurant experiences ever encountered.
I had a great experience at Sushi House in Duncan! 🍣 The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared — definitely some of the best sushi I’ve had in the area. What made the visit even better were the people working there. The servers were so attentive and very welcoming, which gave the whole place a warm and friendly vibe. Portions were generous, prices reasonable, and the service made me feel really valued as a customer. If you’re in Duncan and craving sushi with a side of genuine hospitality, Sushi House is definitely worth checking out.

I encountered a rude and snarky female server who literally commanded me to sit before placing the menu on the table and was giving me nasty looks. That was rude and very awkward. There was a better female server, but none of them were welcoming or smiling. At the end, I told her that I would like to pay, but she ignored me and started cleaning the table next to me before leaving. My rolls were not tasty and fell apart right away. The home-style fried rice was okay, but considering the amount of ‘vegetables’ and the price, it should have cost maybe about $9 to make instead of the $18 I paid. The only good thing was that it was a big and filling portion. The tables were sticky, the plates were old and scratched, and the music was loud. I don’t even know why I returned there; I guess this will be my last visit. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

The sushi house in Duncan is a pretty good place to go. My friends actually go there on a regular basis for the teriyaki chicken bowls. They are a good size and a decent amount of protein. I eat the sushi, but next time I’m in I will take/add a picture of the chicken bowls.

Nice local spot in Duncan for sushi. The fish is fresh, the rolls are well prepared, and portions are generous for the price. Staff are friendly and service is quick which makes dining here easy and enjoyable. The atmosphere is simple but comfortable, perfect for a casual sushi meal.

I am torn with this rating. Ordered some rolls, Gyoza, and miso soup. Food was ready quick for takeout. All the food was delicious, but there were some issues. We were staying in a hotel. When I got back to the room I noticed no chopsticks, no soya sauce, and no spoon or napkins. I guess I’ve taken for granted that these things would be in the bag as they have been from every other sushi place I’ve ordered from ever. Not this time! Did they forget? Do they just not include this stuff? Made for a messy dinner with chopsticks or napkins. Missed the soya, and drank the soup like an animal!! The gyoza also seemed overcooked which was unfortunate. But overall the food was quite good. Would have been a 5 star rating had they remembered the other stuff!

I has salmon Sashimi and beef Pho. The Pho was very disappointing. The broth tasted like simple chicken broth. There were no definable traditional pho aromatics to the broth. Not a lot of meat either. Plus... they serve cilantro instead of Thai basil. Cilantro offers far too light of flavor to be detectable here even with the bland broth. They should get Thai basil If you want to know the best place for pho bar none on the island go to Langford to the "original pho eatery". Try sushi house pho first of course. Then go to langford. I've literally driven the hour just for their soup. Just for reference I eat pho usually 3 or 4 times a month, every month, for the last 10 years. I've visited a lot of places. Anyone claiming this pho broth is good you can ignore them. Go to langford, try their pho... before you consider dismissing my review. The salmon Sashimi slices were are bit small. The establishment is clean but is uninspired in opinion. The servers here look young but they also look like they're hustling so that's a plus. Also forgot my $250 earbuds there and the staff was diligent in keeping them safe for me to return to collect them. They probably make ok or better sushi but I'd recommend they drop the pho from the menu or bring its price down to $11.95... one or the other would be the move.

Came here with my family, ordered the love boat, sockeye salmon nigiri and mango special roll. First off the sushi was great, presentation was nice, the fish was tasty and nicely cut. The customer service however... was lacking. It was a busy Friday evening, only 2 chefs pumping out orders as fast as possible, kudos to them. The servers were a bit lost and we were basically seated in a corner and forgotten about... While we waited about an hour we saw pickup order after pickup order go out the door. Aside from taking our order, no one came by, no water refill, no one came with our bill, no one looked our way. Kinda felt like we were a nuisance being there. This place is in a good spot and has great potential. 4-5 stars are within reach!

Sai Thai offers exceptional Thai cuisine that is incredibly flavorful and satisfying. The cashew salad roll and yellow curry with mixed vegetables, served with a choice of rice or rice noodles, are particularly delicious. Mixing the rice in with the curry enhances its perfection. It's a place worth revisiting, possibly ordering the same dishes again. The unique Pad Thai here surpasses any other version tried elsewhere, making it difficult to order it from anywhere else but Sai's.
Love this place. Really authentic Thai food. Very very good.

I absolutely love her food. Very different Pad Thai than I've had anywhere else and I have a hard time ordering it anywhere but Sai's. I eat there often! I have had over half the menu. The yellow curry noodle and Spicy Basil noodle are awesome. The soups are beautiful. Massuman Curry is killer. It's all good.
Michael W — Google review
Yellow curry was a sweet, gummy ball of noodles with run-of-the-mill vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, onions). They warn there's a long wait, which I could accept if the food was delicious. They're in a small town, so big city exotic meals may be a lot to ask. Vegetarian spring rolls had beans, which was fine but an odd pairing with the sweet sauce. Fried tofu was good. The service was friendly, decor was freshly updated, clean restaurant.

Excellent Thai food. So delicious. I got the cashew salad roll and the yellow curry with mixed vegetables (medium spicy-ness) and it was SO good. It comes with rice or rice noodles, I got the rice and mixed it in with the curry right away. So perfect. I would absolutely come back again and might even get the same thing. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for the delicious meal.

Absolutely amazing food. A heads up, their Med. heat is about a hot-1. Home made authentic and great flavours. Number 20 on the menu is amazing, and mild enough for kids, everything I tried was excellent. The chief is an older lady who uses her mothers recipes. Do not expect fast service, as each dish is made to order, and she brings it out herself to you. Dish size is a tiny bit small for my taste but pricing is such that I order 3 dishes for two people and we share, leaving very full and very very satisfied. You must try this place.
Stephen R — Google review
The flavours are fine but the portions are disgraceful. He paid $18 for an order of Cashew Chicken and rice for take away. When he came home we put both orders on his plate and I cooked dinner for myself. The rice portion was a circle with a diameter of 2” x 1” high. The Cashew Chicken wasn’t even half of a small takeout bowl. Never again EDIT. We appreciate the offer of the refund but we are not looking for our $$ back. When hubby brings home take away and I have to cook a last minute dinner...that should not happen.

I popped in for a quick lunch and order Phad Thai. I think that there was too liberal a splash of fish sauce that gave it an unfortunately "off" taste. I ate the chicken and the broccoli, but left the noodles. I offered to pay, but the server and owner were aware of my reaction and kindly declined payment. Others seemed to be enjoying their fare, so it may be an exception.

CVI Restaurant & Lounge offers a convenient dining option for those looking to enjoy a meal without the hassle of driving. Despite some disappointment with the limited selection of appetizers, the wings, ribs, and clam chowder were satisfying options. While the ribs lacked flavor in the meat itself, they made up for it with a tasty sauce. The lightly breaded wings were decent and accompanied by flavorful sauce.
Visited with families and friends for dinner. Atmosphere was vibrant with good music and friendly staff. Loved smash burger and chicken wings. Kids liked mini burger - which was really good portion 👍

Taylor made our experience awesome! Great server. Gluten free options can be done, however, they don't have a dedicated fryer. I tried one wing, lemon pepper, really good. Had the fish and yam chips, fish was grilled not battered. My husband and our daughter had the battered fish and chips and could not keep quiet about how tasty they were. Our son in law had wings and the stuffed potato poutine. He said it was good. Would highly recommend.

We had our staff party here and did the turkey buffet in one of their private rooms down a floor. It was genuinely an incredible meal, all my coworkers agreed how awesome it was. We had 1 gentleman looking after every need and had it done before we even had to ask. He even accommodated 2 nut allergies for desserts that we completely forgot to let them know about and offered us alternative dessert just for nut free people. We loved that they gave us the whole big room. Nice atmosphere, felt a bit more wedding vibes than a staff party vibe as the lights are dim. Would not remotely fault them for that as we are boring and don't need mood lighting. A fun disco ball in the corner. I have absolutely nothing bad to say. I can see it being a wonderful place to host a small wedding dinner.

We bring our team here for supper quite often, and have always been happy when we leave. Service is awesome and the food is always fresh. Try the fish and chips - the fish is coated in seasoned panko and pan-fried instead of battered and deep fried, and is very good. Taco Tuesday is always a hit, as is the smash burger.

A TRUE HIDDEN GEM IN DUNCAN!!! While traveling through the island on our babymoon, we decided to stop by this place as it came highly recommended by a local friend. We went for lunch on a Wednesday around 1pm, and I would say it was quite lively for the time of day and week we had visited. You have to enter through Best Western, but do not have to be a guest at the inn to dine at the restaurant. First of all, I really loved the ambience of the lounge - although they had dimmed lighting, the natural lighting coming in from the windows provided perfect balance for a lunchtime visit. The beautiful bar area, string lights and cute touches to the walls gave off a really fun, yet cozy vibe to the interior as well. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the menu. Our server gave us some recommendations and we decided to order the Cauliflower Bites, Seafood Chowder, Chicken & Broccoli Bowl, and the Beef Dip Burger. The appies arrived first, and I cannot rave enough about how good these were! The cauliflower bites were lightly battered and had a really nice crunch without being at all too greasy or heavy. I was quite impressed with the seafood chowder as well, as it was not super salty or heavy as I have had in other restaurants in the past. The seafood tasted very fresh, and I enjoyed the different combinations of flavors I could taste with every spoonful, as the soup consisted of various types of veggies and seafood. For the main dishes, the Chicken & Broccoli Rice Bowl had a great peanut sauce with some very fresh and tender chicken breast. I wouldn't say the sauce is an authentic Thai recipe, but it was tasty regardless! I had a bite of my hubby's burger, and was really impressed at the quality of the patty - super juicy, yet not too fatty. The brioche bun paired perfectly with the texture of the other ingredients, and the au jus (served on the side in a gravy boat) was nice and flavorful and really brought the whole burger together. The server checked in on us every now and then to make sure everything was going okay, and I just had praises everytime she dropped by. Overall, I was very impressed with my experience at CVI and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who may be in the area or passing through Duncan.

I ordered the Caterpillar Roll for takeout from One More Sushi, and it should be called "The CRAZY Caterpillar Roll." It was fantastic! This roll breaks away from traditional sushi norms and has a punk-rock vibe. Unlike delicate and tidy sushi, this roll is large, packed with salmon, tuna, ebi, and cucumber, and topped with fresh seaweed. It's not your genteel meal but that's what adds to the fun of eating it!
By far the best sushi around! Way better than all the other places. Recommending all the chefs special rolls.

Just tried their sushi takeout and it was awesome! The rolls were fresh, nicely packed, and still tasted great after bringing them home. No mess, no soggy rice—everything held up perfectly. It’s honestly such a nice treat after a busy day. Definitely my new go-to spot for sushi takeout!

Some of the worst sushi we have ever had. Small rolls, not fresh at all and expensive for what you get. Definitely not an authentic experience. Feels more like someone just decided to open a sushi restaurant after home cooking… Would not recommend at all.

Very strange experience. They are take out only but appear to have a full dining room are that sounds like it has people living in it. My daughter said her cucumber rolls were good and they were well priced. My braised pork and rice bowl was tasty but lacked veggies there was one Bok Choy leaf on top . My friend stated her sushi tasted off possibly from the storage containers. Very underwhelming experience.

One more sushi, haven’t been here in a while. Three of us went for lunch and enjoyed ourselves. The chicken teriyaki bento box looked great and tasted great I’m told and was backed up by an empty plate. The mini tempura bowl was anything but mini, and was thoroughly enjoyed, and seem to be popular amongst the other diners. Mine was a tuna/salmon plate with ebi. Nice Fresh fish, super ginger, and warm tea all in a wonderfully calming tropical atmosphere.

I recently ordered take-out from Phad Thai Restaurant and was highly impressed with the quality of the food. The red curry with prawns and double chicken was outstanding, packed with incredible flavors. The chicken satay, cooked to perfection, came with a delectable peanut sauce. Adding extra meat was definitely worth it as it enhanced the overall experience. Although I ordered it hot, I would have liked an even spicier option. The coconut rice was also a delight - tasty and fluffy.
If you want Bangkok street food, this is the place for you. I've been to Bangkok, and this place is legit. The older I get, the less spice I can tolerate, medium spice was too much for me. Next time, and oh yes there will be a next time. I'll stick with mild. This is my goto Thai when I'm on Duncan, it's a hidden gem on the main drag.

, I am very disappointed , I popped in tonight for takeout. Ordered vegetarian pad, Thai vegetable, spring rolls, and chicken satay. I was the only one in the restaurant at the time, and I heard them start preparing the food right away, I could actually hear the sizzling of something but perhaps they weren’t preparing my food? The food came up very fast I drove 10 minutes home and everything was stone cold , not even a little warm it was seriously cold. The pad Thai is gluey. The vegetables are over cooked. The broccoli is almost yellow and the noodles were all stuck together in big clumps like it had been sitting there for a while. The spring rolls were cold and greasy The chicken satay was good but cold I’m not sure what the additional sauce was that came with the spring rolls… But it had that really tangy powdered ginger flavor… and the rest of the ingredients seem to be cornstarch and water, see picture. I am super disappointed not only because this was a waste of $50+ … but because I think this is the only Thai place in Duncan
Margo S — Google review
I got the Pad Thai, medium spicy. Green onions instead of Chinese chives. No pickled radish, no dried shrimp. Not sure but it didn't taste like palm sugar either. Weak tamarind flavour, needed more sour. Lime wedge was obviously cut a day or two ago kinda dried out. The spice was dried red peppers. No fresh birdseye chili (which I think is a better option, even if not strictly traditional). The portion size was very generous. Noodles had good texture, decent wok hei. Bean sprouts had a solid crunch. Overall, ok, but bland. Service was friendly and polite. For atmosphere, this could be a hole in the wall kinda place if the person cooking cared more about the food.

Ordered delivery for 2 people. Came to $60.00 and there was enough food to feed a small child. The hot sour soup, with 1 piece of squid had no noodle or rice for $20.00. The satay chicken, $19. 00, was 4 tiny thin pieces of chicken and less than average taste. I never write reviews, but this was so pathetic, I had no choice.
C A — Google review
Usually good food, especially when they use the thick coconut milk for their curry, which is seasonal as I was told. Today, we ordered take out red curry lunch amongst other dishes. My issue was that they combined the curry with the rice in one container, and unfortunately, all the curry was absorbed into the rice and I had no curry left for the meal. I called and spoke to the chef, and she said that is how they do it. I asked her if she likes to eat curry with no sauce, and have rice with all the sauce, and she said yes! lol. Doesn’t make any sense to me. Two orders in a row with issues. No making it right or offering to remake so I could enjoy the meal. I hope something will be adjusted with this review for the future. Make sure you ask for them to be separate as this is their best practice. Thank you.

Kim Wah Restaurant is renowned for its exceptionally genuine and traditional Chinese cuisine, setting it apart from similar establishments in the local area. Patrons attest to the delectable and flavorsome nature of their dishes, making it a worthwhile dining experience. With roots dating back to childhood memories of indulging in Chinese cuisine during the 70s in Downtown Vancouver, Kim Wah Restaurant holds a special place in the hearts of many.
Went to the new Cowichan Bay location a couple of weeks ago. Our server was friendly, clear, concise and attentive. It was kinda chilly in the restaurant. Not sure if the heat was not working properly. We ordered a handful of dishes to try. The Chicken Chow Mein was pretty standard. We also ordered the Cantonese Style (Crispy) Chow Mein - delicious! The Chicken Chop Suey and Dry Garlic Pork were also hot and fresh. However, the almond chicken was too oily and had a weird breading. Not the traditional breading you get for Western Chinese Breaded Almond Chicken. It was also REALLY salty. Overall, I would definitely go back again and maybe skip the almond chicken

Newly located in Cowichan Bay. I ordered a combo dinner plate with a pot of Chinese tea. Food arrived quickly and very hot. My dinner was what I like to call "cheap & cheerful Canadian Chinese". The food tasted good and the portion was large; I walked in hungry and left feeling quite full. Service was quick and attentive. The only negative: I thought it was a bit pricey for what it was. My large heaping plate, along with tea, tax and modest tip, cost me $28. I guess most sit-down restaurants are charging similar prices for a complete meal. Would I go back again? Sure - I wouldn't make a special trip, but if I happened to be in the neighborhood with friends I would try it again.

The food is reasonably priced with generous portion size. The restaurant is clean and spacious. Open from 11:30 to 8pm. Food was tasty and hit the spot. Dine in or take out, you decide. We arrived midday in between lunch in dinner. Many reservations have been made for this evening dining.

First and last unfortunately. We are frequent purchasers of Wor Wonton soup, always serves two no matter the restaurant, often take out it is ALWAYS two bowls. I arrive to collect this and was shocked at getting a small bowl for 21.95!!! We just ordered the same soup from a place on James street in Duncan and the empty two bowls are proof, which only cost $20.95 for the two. Anyway, unless you are ok with that price for broth , two pieces of broccoli, two slices of carrot and some wonton then order it but I certainly can’t justify it . Ouch

Stopped here tonight for dinner, it was pretty tasty! Good value for the combo that I got, had some leftovers to take home. Only thing I would suggest or liked better is if the chicken chow mein had a bit more flavor, it was a bit bland even after adding some chili sauce. But definitely a decent local option for Chinese food.

Very basic western style Chinese food and tastes good. Dianne gave us very good service along with a smile. Much better location in Cowichan Bay than York Street in Duncan with all the street people that used the hang around (the reason why we never went back there) and having there own free parking is a real bonus in Cowichan Bay. Have been there 3 times now and very satisfied. It may be getting a bit pricey now but what isn't. Best of luck to the new business.

I thought I would try this new place that had replaced the favourite Rock Cod. It is a nice, clean place with excellent service - but the food was some of the worst Chinese food I have had. Spicy chicken with vegetables - - the vegetables were 90% onion and celery with a few pieces of zucchini and three thin slices of carrots. It was smothered in a much too salty, not very spicy sauce. I was quite disappointed and I will not be back with all the other great restaurants in Cowichan Bay.

Pho Vuong Restaurant, located in the historic district of downtown Duncan, offers a delightful dining experience. The attentive and courteous servers strive to ensure customer satisfaction by taking accurate orders, even with modifications. The food is of good quality, although some customers have noted that the broth could be thicker. Nevertheless, the meat is of excellent caliber and all other ingredients are fresh. While the hot tea provided was too strong for some patrons' tastes, opting for water proved to be a suitable alternative.
The best Pho outside of Victoria, we always stop here for a meal when we’re in Duncan. Delicious, filling, & nourishing, with always fast, satisfactory service. And they still give mints after a meal - something I would make compulsory by law if I was prime minister, which sadly many restaurants do not do these days. We love Pho Vuong!

A great little Pho 🍜 spot we found in old downtown Duncan. The servers were very polite and attentive and wanted to please. They listened well and got our order perfectly right as it was complicated with changes to all 3 meals. Food was also good quality. Although broth seemed a little watery but meat quality was excellent and everything else was fresh. Hot tea 🍵 was too strong so we stuck to water. One thing they should attend to is all the weeds around the building. Makes the restaurant seem sus but overall pretty good.

Unfortunately, this place has the worst and rudest service I’ve experienced, even though it’s in a great location. The waitress is consistently unfriendly every time we visit. I’ve tried to overlook it in the past, but our last few experiences were unacceptable — especially the most recent one, which made us decide never to return. They also reuse limes and bean sprouts. One time, I was served a lime that had already been used. When I brought it up, the waitress admitted they reuse the plate if the previous table didn’t touch everything. In my case, the table before us had used the lime but not the sprouts, so they just handed me the same plate. That’s unsanitary and gross. To make things worse, when they made a mistake with my takeout order, they refused to take responsibility. Instead of apologizing, they kept saying, “We never make mistakes.” I couldn’t return right away because I have a baby and toddlers, so I took a photo of the wrong dish and ate what I was given. A few days later, I brought the photo back, and the chef just laughed and said, “The photo is unclear — I don’t think we made a mistake.” No apology, just rudeness. The waitress was just as unfriendly as always. That experience made it clear to me: I will never eat food prepared or served by people who treat customers this way. Honestly, it’s totally worth driving a bit further to Green Leaf Bistro or Saigon Subs — both places have much better service and treat their customers with respect.

The waiter/hostess was amazing!! He was so friendly and attentive! The breakfast special was very good. It consisted of bacon/ sausages, eggs, pancakes/toast for $9.99 which we used our Mother's day coupon we received on Mother's day entitling us to $10/EA off our meal. We only had to pay for our 2 coffee's, what a DEAL!! I will definitely go back there again and would recommend it to my friends!!!

They don't activate gift cards you buy from them so don't ever buy a gift card here My aunt bought 2 gift cards for me and when I went to pay at my local Smittys in Winnipeg, the card was refused and showed inactive. This is technically theft - they took money and falsely offered a service (gift card) they did not provide (gift card not activated).

Update: second time and was not impressed... No longer a team effort and the service was slow; waited over 30 minutes to see scrambled eggs! That's fried, broken eggs people!!! Back off the make the effort to stop list. We had the breakfast buffet; it's a small buffet but selection met every want and the food was really well prepared! I was pleasantly surprised because as a chain restaurant I was not expecting this at all. I'd give the buffet four stars and our wait "team" five stars - it was an effortless group dynamic from seating through service... Very, VERY impressed, Smitty's Duncan - thank you for breakfast!!!

We waited just over an hour for our food. It was ok at best; our local Smitties is better. What my wife got was not what she ordered but she ate it anyway as we just wanted to leave by then. It needs an update if that sort of thing is important to you. The staff were nice enough although there was a misunderstanding about the Interac being down. We had to go next door to get cash and it cost us $6 in fees.

No one gave us menus, took 45 minutes to get food that was still wrong when it came out, just a terrible experience that really dampened our Fathers Day celebration. We ended up leaving before our son even got his food. Too bad, they used to be decent.

Great, friendly staff. They always make sure your meal is to your liking. Love the raised booth tables, the fish, two tvs on mute, nice music that never gets too loud and best of all, the food is delicious!

Horrible. Not even worth one star. We ordered the eggs benedict, which was alright however the hash browns it came with were barely cooked and they charged us $15 for a meal we couldn't eat after and after we requested a refund, the EXTREMELY rude waitress went back to the kitchen and loudly and snottily announced what we wanted. we were given a $2.10 seniors discount when the price of the hash browns alone, that were inedible, were $4.99. Horrible service, Horrible chefs, horrible establishment. Don't ever waste your time or money here.

My husband, myself and our two children went to Smitty's for dinner, the service was terrible, there were only 3 other tables with people at them and the waitress said they were swamped. She brought out our food one persons at a time, my husband's was first followed by my stepsons a few minutes later, then my daughters and almost 10 minutes later mine came out. She only checked on us once asking how the food was, never offered us more drinks. The table across from us had a few adults and a child at it, when they got their bill the waitress said the child's meal was free because it was Monday, when they told her it was Sunday, she said oh well her mistake the child's meal was still free. Now we were right across from them with a child around the same age and we payed for our child's meal. We will not return to Smitty's in Duncan, the service is terrible and the food was not great either. We were there for over an hour, most of that was waiting for our food.

Green Leaf Bistro offers exceptional Vietnamese cuisine with an excellent pho broth and flavorsome dishes. The food is well-prepared, using fresh ingredients to create delicious meals. The service is commendable, and the menu pricing is fair compared to other establishments in Victoria. The portion sizes are generous, making it a great value for money option. Whether you're looking for soups or noodles, Green Leaf Bistro is the go-to spot in the area.
It's probably one of my favorite places in the Duncan area period. My partner and her family showed me this little place and my goodness, the service is amazing, the food portions are huge, the prices are unbeatable in today's climate for the size you get. I totally recommend #44 and my partner suggests the #40 soup. Everything is around 16-18$ and is worth every penny. Please come give this little treasure in Duncan a try.

We had Pho and Lemongrass chicken with Vermicelli. They were fresh with great flavour profile. Service was quick and friendly. A great spot to have quick and filling bite when travelling upisland or returning back from your upisland trip.

We decided to try Green Leaf Bistro on our way back home from Duncan and we were not disappointed. The food was not only excellent and good value for your money, but the portions were also so large that we had a lot of leftovers for dinner. The three of us shared the beef salad, which was wonderful with the generous sprinkling of fresh Thai basil, a rice plate with grilled lemongrass chicken, a nice, crunchy pickle and side salad and the deep-fried spring rolls, with delicious dipping sauces to accompany each dish. We loved the relaxed, warm atmosphere and the great service. Would high recommend making a stop here. We'll definitely be back again!

Best Pho on the island hands down. Rich bone broth, oversized helpings, fresh, beautiful chilli oil. I've tried all Vietnamese in Duncan. This is the spot!! Super humble staff, Respect!

Absolutely LOVED our meal and experience at Green Leaf! We are new to the area, and will be back! The food is so fresh, and the portions are HUGE! My husband and I didn't know this when we ordered, ordered a vegetable soup each with tofu and 1 order of the lemongrass chicken and 1 of the lemongrass beef, and we took home enough leftovers for 3-4 more meals! The staff are so friendly and efficient. As soon as we arrived a delicious tea landed on the table and we barely had to wait to order and the food arrived shortly after. Vegetables were cooked to perfection and the meats were so tender, which sometimes I find can be chewy at Asian style restaurants. Green Leaf is a definite new staple for our family, highly recommend!!!

First thing when my husband and I walked in the door, a man sitting at a table smiles and says "this is the best pho out of fifteen different restaurants I've tried on the island." Just finished devouring the grand kahuna while my companion opted for the regular kahuna burger. Undoubtedly, it was by far the most exceptional burger we've ever sampled - without a doubt. The proprietor, an extraordinary individual, took the time to regale us with his captivating narrative and share his aspirations for expanding to Kahuna Vancouver Island and Vancouver City - destinations that will undoubtedly capture your heart! (And let's not forget about his legendary homemade desserts.
The best fish burger we have ever had! We have been to Hawaii several times and nothing there even compares. Very generous portions, great sides, and friendly staff. The dole whip is also incredible.

The best burger place in Duncan, and one of the best on the island. Very unique and interesting menu, the desserts are also amazing. I love the passionfruit cheesecake, delicious! I am a regular here and I am so happy they exist. Also, top notch no nonsense service and it is always amazing how fast my order is prepared.

Today we decided to try this new burgers place. It reminds me of the cafeterias I used to go back on Europe coasts. We got the Big Kahuna and the Big island burgers. One with a side of coleslaw. Both burgers were yummy (even when for my personal taste it was missing spices. But Im mexican so regular food ALWAYS need extra sauces. Unfortunately they didn’t have anything else but the condiments that already came with the burger. Si if you are like me, you might want to consider take out. The side was good. We also got drinks. Hawaiian Blended Ice tea and the lemonade (well that was what I ordered but seems the lady was having a hard time with my accent and might had understood wrong and got me the fruit punch. However I really liked it so I didn’t mind the switch, if that was the case). Price wise… well these are “artisan burgers” so yes they are on the pricey side of things. But quality is really good. Recommend it.

Perfect burgers!!!! We ordered big island, big kahuna, Oahu 20, the burger came with chunky ground beef, and pork, chicken, but it wasn’t overly greasy, which is prefect!!! Definitely visit again if I come back to Vic.

One of the best burgers I've ever had. Get the humuhumu burger with delicious chunks of mahi mahi and a slice of grilled pineapple. Was walking by on our way here and someone outside was raving about it! She drives down from Nanaimo, I wish Vancouver was closer!!!
Candie T — Google review
Got the Kahuna Burger, bacon, cheese and all the fixin's. Best burger I've had in a long while. The patty had a wonderful flavour, not sure what I was tasting but it was good. Bun was large and in charge but not overpowering, enough to keep a juicy burger under control until it was gone. My friend had the Portobello vegetarian option and polished it off with gusto. Got a kick out of the Eating Instructions" we were given before our burgers were served. Need to follow the protocols to avoid wearing some of it home, where you will fast become your dog's favourite human. The green mango slaw was a bit disappointing, I found it a little dry and lacking in flavour. Next time I will try the regular slaw. I did appreciate the use of wooden (bamboo?) cutlery that can be recycled. My only "beef" is the price. At around $20 this was by far the most expensive burger I have ever ordered. Because of that, Kahuna Burger will not become my regular lunch destination in Duncan, I will maybe keep this place in my back pocket for special occasions.

Just Dined in at the Amazing Kahuna Burger!! WOW my taste buds have been rejuvenated :) This is my family's new Burger place. Such an accomodating, thoughtful & friendly experience not to mention delicious. Definitely not you're average burger that's forsure, so much flavour and they're huge! Loved the island elements and the Macaroni Salad is a MUST! ❤️ 🍔 A+++ We had the Silent Rooster & the Kauai!
Abby T — Google review
This was the first time visiting, I wanted something unique, and after scanning the menu and talking to the staff, I decided on the Oahu burger. It did not disappoint. I was skeptical of the ramen noodle buns, but they turned out delicious. It's a heavy burger though. The teriyaki beef patty is juicy and cooked perfect, the pineapple and ginger work well together making this a sweet and savory paradise in your mouth. Using the wrapper for containment is a must for these burgers, otherwise it will be a sloppy slip n slide. Highly recommend. I also got both the slaw and macaroni salad. The mac salad was pretty traditional, but had a unique sweetness that really shined. The papaya cole slaw was great, but very tangy, take small bites or that vinegar will punch you in the brain. For dessert, I tried the passion fruit cheesecake, a rich traditional cheesecake with a graham crust and fruit topping, very good. The service was great, friendly and helpful, the restaurant was clean. Pretty limited seating indoors, so keep that in mind if you have a crowd, might be better on a sunny day to sit outside of available. Next time I'm in town I'm definitely coming back.

May's Asian Cuisine is an exceptional Chinese restaurant in Duncan, boasting a remarkable new employee who displays outstanding kindness and charm. Although their name eluded the reviewer, they were willing to accommodate the customer's request to hold their order in a heated fridge, ensuring its warmth. The portion sizes served at May's Asian Cuisine are truly impressive and all this was obtained for a mere $21. Despite the modest interior, staff members diligently sanitized surfaces as patrons left their seats and counters.
The new hire they have (sorry I didn’t get his name) is amazing supper nice and sweet. We ordered the fried wontons so we had to wait a bit he offered to hold our other order in the heated fridge for us to keep it warm. The portion side is absolutely amazing. I got all this for $21. Clean interior saw staff sanitizing when people left the seats and counters. Been coming here since highschool and will keep returning.

What a surprise! We where in Duncan and was looking for a good place to get quick Chinese food. It was my first time eating here and will be my last. I had the pork fried rice, honey garlic pork and beef and broccoli. The pork was hard and chewy as shoe leather same with the beef. I also had a cup of the wonton soup and the broth was very watered down and the wontons overcooked. Do not recommend.

The food is cold, and dry. The service is poor. Not friendly, they give bare minimum which made us not want to dine in. We live 2-3 minutes away and got home and the food is cold. Save your time, save your money and find elsewhere for some food..

For cheap and also fast Chinese food this place is great. The trade off is the quality is lower. Speed: 5/5 Very good. In and out in 5 mins. Quality: 2.5/5 Not bad but not great. The pork was quite dry. The sauces are a bit weak as well. If Subway made Chinese food this is what it would be like. Service: 4/5 No complaints. Value: 4/5 Great portion sizes, under $20 for 2 people.

Too much mock chicken loaf. No vegetables. Very cheap quality and quite expensive unlike other people are saying. The chicken curry was 95 % potatoes for some reason. Like the taco bell of chinese food.

Saigon subs is an outstanding Vietnamese restaurant offering the best pho on the island. The customer service is excellent and the food surpasses expectations. Their pho boasts a flavorful broth with ample meat portions, while their vermicelli bowl is expertly seasoned and brimming with shrimp. Additionally, Saigon subs offers pre-made frozen pho that retains its delicious flavors even after being frozen. With generous portion sizes and affordable prices, this restaurant provides great value for money.
Delicious bowl of steaming rare beef pho from two very hardworking female staff. Hit the spot on a rainy damp day. I also wound up buying 4 packs of the frozen version to go! My partner had the lemongrass chicken which was not as flavourful.

Not fancy, reasonably priced- fast, fresh and delicious. For eat in, take out or delivery, a fantastic spot for authentic Vietnamese food. I say that just having returned from a business trip to Vietnam and while there I was thinking that the food at Saigon Subs, rivalled all of the places that my local colleagues took me for meals. Try the Pork Banh Mi, the Beef Pho or any of the Rice Plates and you won’t regret taking the time to check out this place. Also, in a hurry and want to take away- I tried one of the frozen Pho Kits, I got the Beef Pho Kit and it was super easy to prepare and really, really good. Family owned, super nice, comfortable place for lunch or dinner.

Best pho on the island !!! Super wonderful experience. The costumer service is grate and the food is even better. I have tried Saigon subs several times, and every time they are on point. Super flavourful and perfectly cooked. The pho has a rich broth and come with lots of meat. The vermicelli bowl is the same, lots of shrimp and very well seasoned. I also tried the pre-made frozen pho. This was super easy to make and proved lots of flavour, even after being frozen. The value is great as the pho makes a large portion for the price. The cooking directions were easy to follow and the pho came out perfect. Overall I loved my experience with Saigon subs, and would definitely recommend, 10/10. The photos below are of the beef pho kit. So delicious.

Good food, very friendly and attentive staff, very nice vibe. Don't get me wrong, this is not a gourmet restaurant, it is good diner food served fresh. We had breakfast, eggs done as we ordered them, excellent, juicy sausages, nice thick, tasty bacon. The hash browns looked to be baked potatoes that had been grated and fried, which is what I like. A little bland perhaps, but not greasy, next time I'll ask for onions. The sourdough toast was good, jam on the side. Unlimited coffee. All for $11.00 and change, can't beat that. Lots of regulars, all greeted by name. While we were there I noticed a sign talking about a Chinese food special. Sounded good, I will have to give it a try, they offer takeout.

The establishment consistently provides excellent quality food at a reasonable price, accompanied by fast and friendly service. Credit goes to the skilled owner and his wife, who work tirelessly in the kitchen to create these delicious sushi creations.
Wonderful place to have a lunch here while some of places (not fastfood) close on Monday. Thank you to operate on Monday! Their combos are really good with options to pick 4 more items. I’m satisfied with the food and service. Good job and keep it up.

I know I should not compare meaty Chinese dumplings to a first time experience with Korean gyoza as these might be perfect exemplars of those, but my first reaction was “where’s the beef?” The rest of our purchases were fine examples of typical Japanese food as made in North America.

If I could give them zero stars, I would. I ordered takeout and tried to call it in-they didn’t answer so I was forced to order and pay online. The online order time said it would be ready at 6:36, I was waiting another 15 minutes after that given time while they weren’t even busy. Very unorganized. The server almost had me pay for it twice because she couldn’t pay attention to the fact I had already paid for it. The pictures speak for themselves. The deep fried California roll looks like they were fried an hour ago, and my negitoro roll was destroyed as soon as I opened the takeout container. Can’t believe this place gets 4.4 stars. Glad I’m just passing through town and won’t have to subjected to our seeing from this place ever again.

It’s been a while since our first visit and we shouldn’t have waited so long. Prompt, polite, clean, welcoming and of course great portion to price value sums up Japan Town. Me and my husband are vegan and they have a lot of good options for us! We usually will get the veggie platter which comes with a ton of sushi rolls. Be sure to ask for no sauce on the honeymoon roll they use mayo in it. Everyone there is so friendly we go there at least once a week it’s so good. The lunch special is also good you can ask for tofu teriyaki and a lot of vegan sides to choose from.

Just moved to Duncan and I’ve been on the hunt for amazing ramen. Unfortunately the ramen here is subpar, the tonkotsu broth is decent, egg is way over cooked, and I know the pork traditionally isn’t crispy, but I asked for extra extra extra crispy pork and most of it fat. For the price point of $19 I expect my requests on the cook of the meat be correct.

This was my first time eating at the Duncan location and I was very disappointed. My order was ready on time so they get credit for that but my spicy peanut noodle dish was less than appetizing. The chunks of tofu were too big, there was so much sauce it was like a mushy noodle soup. The peanut sauce had an unusual flavour as well. It just wasn’t good. The kitchen was also very messy. I won’t be going back. They won’t stay open long at this rate.

I just paid $21 for a Yangzhou fried rice on DoorDash, and it showed up with no protein, just egg. This is absolutely ridiculous. The listing clearly stated it comes with shrimp and pork, yet I received a plain rice dish that isn’t even close to what I ordered. This is completely unacceptable.
Nhi N — Google review
I've noticed a consistent decrease in the amount of protein and vegetables for a while now. I don't order from there all the time, but enough to see the pattern. Today I mostly got rice, and they even forgot the sauce. If I wanted rice I would cook it at home, and it wouldn't cost me over $20. I think if they are going to cut back, they should reduce their prices.

Ordered the Pad Thai box & was super excited to try it, but was met with a lot of disappointment. The noodles were completely stuck together in a big clump & there was barely any sauce to flavour them with. I’ve had pad Thai from several places & it didn’t taste anything like it. Also ordered a different box as mild & it ended up being really spicy & the protein was dry. All around a very disappointing experience 👎🏻

Checked out this local Chinese place after seeing it posted in a few facebook groups. Tried the buffet and found the food was flavorful and in the top 3 between Nanaimo and Duncan. The spring rolls and scezwan beef were my favorite. Hit the desert bar for some Nanaimo bars and two chocolate brownies. The servers were attentive and friendly. There were lots of seats available but it was a Tuesday at 6pm. Going back on a weekend to see if there is a difference.

Guangzhou Garden (Duncan, BC): A Cautionary Tale in Takeout Ordered takeout because locals said this was their go-to Chinese spot. If that’s true, I have questions. Big ones. I’m not above the occasional Canadianized Chinese food craving — bring on the sweet sauces and deep-fried dreams! But this was something else entirely. The bag smelled like it had been deep-fried in regrets and reused oil. Not a great start. Let’s break it down: 🥡 Chicken Fried Rice & Chow Mein: Pale, sad, and naked. No sauce, no flavour, no joy...and there is no hope that the fried rice ever met a hot pan. The chicken? Some kind of weird, cubed-up, processed mystery meat. I didn’t know poultry came in Lego form. 🥢 Dry Garlic Spare Ribs: Dry? Yes. Garlic? Barely. Saucy? Nope. They were breaded. WHERE was the glossy garlic sauce I was promised in my dreams? 🍚 Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls: Shockingly decent. Crispy, hot, and didn’t taste like betrayal. We love a low-bar win. 🐷 Sweet & Sour Pork: Meh. Edible. Wouldn't write home about it. Did write here about it though. 🥟 Egg Rolls: I’m still confused. These things were the size and shape of a calzone. Giant sheets of egg roll wrapper folded around a tablespoon of cabbage and a lone strip of pressed chicken. Half the inner layers were raw. I wanted crunch, not confusion. In summary: Disappointing. If this is Duncan’s top spot for Chinese food, we may need to form a support group for mid-Island takeout trauma. At $128 for enough food for 4 people, I guess my expectations were too high. Still hopeful though — onwards and upwards. The quest for decent Chinese food continues.

I Had the lunch buffett. The food was great, fresh. And awesome service. And I went back for the buffet again.

So many problems: 1. Their pricing on their site is WAY off. We've ordered from them twice, paid almost double what we were expecting. Asked for a receipt and an updated menu the second time, both of which failed to materialize. 2. Food delivery was fast. WAY too fast. Literally 10 minutes after an order, and we live 10 minutes away. So no wonder the food tasted microwaved. 3. The order was wrong. 3 of the 5 dishes we ordered were incorrect in the delivery. 4. The quality of the food is inconsistent. The first time we ordered it was okay - expensive but okay. The second time it was just gross! Vegetable chow mein literally had nothing in it but noodles. etc. etc. All in all, sad to say, if you're looking for Chinese, skip this one.
Ainsley M — Google review
The buffet wasn't the worst I've had, it also wasn't the best. Everything tasted dried out, and that they don't have steamer trays between the food and burners. The staff was friendly, and polite. The only reason for giving 2 stars, is the staff. The tables & Chairs are straight out of the 70s and really uncomfortable, like they don't want you there for very long.
Krazy M — Google review
Went for the smorg tonight with my husband and 95 year old mother in law. Very disappointing. Almost all of the food was cold. The chicken wings were obviously refried for the second or third time and had absolutely no moisture left in them. The sweet and sour pork was so overcooked and dry that neither my husband or mother in law could chew or cut it. On the bright side I did enjoy the mussels and shrimp dumplings although that's not something the others would eat and the waitress was very pleasant. Cost was over $92 for three seniors for something that was not worth $10 a plate.
Sandi S — Google review
Very sad. Probably the worst chinese food I've had in years. So boring and plain with absolutely no pride in their product. Honey garlic pork was soggy and hard dry pieces of meat like reheated leftovers. Fried rice was plain white rice with minimum veggies and meat. Chicken balls 90% dough. Egg foo Yung only decent dish.
Larry W — Google review
Beware of dishonest pricing...... I visited this restaurant over a year ago and was shocked when the bill came out higher than expected. The prices on the bill didn’t match what was advertised on the menu. When I questioned it, the staff simply said they hadn’t updated their menus yet – no apology, no effort to honor the listed prices. Now, a year later, I’m seeing that nothing has changed. Other customers are still leaving reviews about being overcharged. This isn’t a one-time mistake – it’s a clear pattern of deceptive business practices. Save your money and avoid the frustration – go somewhere that respects its customers and is upfront about its prices.

Pizza restaurant
This Italian restaurant called Authentic Pizza has received high praise for its outstanding pizza. Customers have rated it highly, with some even wanting to give it more than five stars. The crust is described as being both dense and chewy, yet also light and fluffy. There is an abundance of cheese on the pizzas, making them incredibly satisfying for those who crave this classic dish. The quality of the ingredients used in their pizzas is top-notch, showing that they put great care into their food preparation.
Mama mia! That was the best pizza ive ever had hands down. Authentic pizza from a master pizzaola who only continues for the love of the game. What a treat. You have to eat here at least once. I will never forget this pizza. Grazi grazi

I love places that have a 'way' about them, this is one of those places. Stacks of pizza boxes, same guy feeding the oven, stacks of toppings you can count on. Not a place for sit down dining really. Pizza costs a bit more because there is way more of the fresh and pricy ingredients atop these. Plus the dough is 'flying' in that hand stretched way. Know your pizza though, one heavy with veggies will make a bit of a moist and messy munch. Want it crisp, choose fewer and dryer toppings (like a simple pepperoni mushroom) and it'll still be well sauced and cheesy. This is not lighter pizza made for a cheaper snack, this will fill you up, or feed you again later. My photos aren't whole pizzas, because I couldn't help my damn self.

So I was looking for a pizza place and stumbled upon Authentic Pizza , I thought I’d give it a try . Man Naav is a pizza connoisseur, I ordered the weekly special wings and a medium pie . Naav can throw down and his hot wings are killer . You won’t be disappointed. Cheers .

Hands down, the best pizza I’ve ever tasted. The crust is perfectly crispy on the outside yet soft inside. And don’t miss their desserts—the tiramisu is creamy and perfectly balanced, while the carrot cake is moist, flavorful, and melts in your mouth. If you love pizza and desserts, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

BEST pizza crust in town! Its perfectly crisp and chewy and they are very generous with the toppings. The owner is so nice and friendly and as someone who works downtown, I'm so excited that they've changed their hours to be open at 11 am and they will soon be offering pizza by the slice!

I don’t like pizza unless I have made it myself! Hubby was hungry and I didn’t have time to cook, so we ordered for pick up. THIS IS AMAZING PIZZA!! (Better than mine lol) If you like REAL authentic pizza, this is your place! It’s the real deal! We will definitely be back!

That first bite of pizza here instantly reminded me of Italy—crisp crust, gooey cheese, and fresh toppings that taste like they were picked the same day. Authentic Pizza isn’t just a name, it’s the real deal. Easily my favorite pizza place in Duncan! MUST TRY😍😍

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Zero stars. Our experience was terrible with this pizza place. Came in visiting from out of town looked for a pizza place for a good easy meal and made the mistake of ordering here. Ordered 4 pizzas came to $150. We ordered 1 pizza WITHOUT cheese due to food sensitivity and they put cheese on it and then when we got home and saw the pizza in fact had cheese on it we called immediately to fix the mistake and they said by asking for no cheese we should have been clearer and should have said not to put any kind of cheese instead of just “no cheese” and refused to refund or fix it and then hung up on us. We are shocked, never have we received such poor treatment and service. We now are looking for another place to get dinner for our family member who can’t eat this pizza. I’d never recommend this place, their pizza is mediocre at best their prices are very high and their treatment of guests is despicable. Their website claims to create an atmosphere where customers are treated like family and if that’s the case I’m sad for their family. If I could give zero stars I would.

Nestled in a charming courtyard, Aloha Bowls is a delightful gem in Duncan that you won't want to miss. This eatery specializes in fresh poke bowls, offering an array of options including a delicious salmon and tuna combo bowl topped with flavorful sauces like mango spice and wasabi mayo. The atmosphere is inviting, with friendly staff ready to enhance your dining experience.
Tucked into a courtyard off the road a bit, if you are driving, be careful because blink and you'll miss it! Look for the Kahuna burger and you'll be good. The poke bowl is fresh and delicious! The green papaya slaw was yummy! The staff was super friendly. The location was clean and well lit. Wish we had had time to checkout the rest of the area. This part of Duncan has a neat old town feel, and seems like it would be fun to walk around for a bit :) Will definitely be back.

Delicious gluten-free poke bowls. Sauce can be served on the side. Fast and friendly service. Patio is great on sunny days. Gluten-free banofee (banana-toffee) pie is so good! Cafe is located a bit back from road behind the associated Kahuna burger place.

Fresh and delicious poke. They do not offer a traditional poke bowl with just fish and rice… however I’m sure you can ask! I just didn’t want to be difficult. They have bowls that come with an assortment of sides (as you can tell from the pic). My bowl was bit on the saucy side, so I’ll deduct -1 point. Just ask for easy on the sauce. Mahalo!!

This place is a hidden gem. I chanced upon it while walking along downtown Duncan looking for healthy options and this definitely caught my eye. I ordered a Combo Poké and honestly, it was the best Poké I have ever had so far! The ingredients were really fresh, portion was really generous and really delicious! I don't think I can ever eat Poké bowls in Singapore ever again! Will definitely be back when I come visit Duncan the next time!

OMG this was so good! We had the tuna and salmon bowl and a pork wrap and they looked so good, but tasted So Much Better! 😋 All the ingredients are so fresh and the poke bowl is one of the best I’ve ever had ever, including in Hawaii :) And did I mention deserts?? 🤤 so yummy! and in house made juice and ginger lemonade too 🥰 This is definitely our new favourite go to place for food whenever we are on a road trip in those parts of the island 💕

We had yet to try out Aloha Bowls as we live in another community and typically frequent a different poke restaurant. Tonight we decided to drive to Duncan to try Aloha and were pleasantly confirmed on making a good decision as the meal was perfect and we enjoyed every bit of it. I had the salmon/tuna combo bowl and asked to have both the mango spice & wasabi mayo put on directly as they serve on the side which IMO is best put on the bowl. My only thoughts after the meal is a bit more sushi rice & salad greens added ad they are the cheapest ingredients and would help the visual of proportion size order cost. Lastly a topping of “crunch” of tempura flakes would be a killer addition. I 100% will be back again as the food was great & the little courtyard outdoor seating is a little hidden relaxing oasis. I might suggest to take your food to go and walk down the street to sit in the centennial square courtyard amongst the totems at the patio tables as a nice way to spend the evening.

They use quality ingredients and put a great effort into creating authentic hawaiin flavours. They are super creative too (homemade pineapple jam and double chocolate banana bread) The only reason I rated this a 4 is because they had one price listed on their website, and a higher price when I arrived. It's never a pleasant surprise once you've already made the journey to the restaurant. As someone who researches the restaurant before I arrive, I encourage restaurants to keep their websites up to date, especially if you are going to enforce a price increase. Edit: I have changed my review to a 5 because the restaurant immediately reached out to correct their website!

I'm really excited about moving to this area because there's a fantastic Italian deli nearby called Grove Hall Farm, Italian Kitchen, Market & Deli. I recently had lunch there and was impressed by their fresh cooked thin crust pizza, great espresso, and delicious homemade gelato. The deli also offers a wide selection of local meats and sauces, as well as imported Italian products.
What a hidden gem, exceptional quality assortment of pure bliss Italian goods with local raised meats. Wish we could have had the opportunity to stop here on the beginning of our trip. Owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. Totally impressed with the variety of pasta’s and sauces, gelato, bakery goods. Don’t pass up the opportunity to stop by and indulge.

AMAZING customer service!! I recently saw that The Grove has gluten free items, so I decided to take a look and found a wonderful selection of items to choose from, some I haven't seen before. The young gentleman who was working the cash register saw my gluten free items and said he would go wash up first, as he was working with flour (gluten) before touching my items. Absolutely amazing and thoughtful! It was a very much appreciated extra step in his work day. I give him and The Grove a 10/10 😁

We thoroughly enjoyed the friendly nature of the young man serving us. He made us a wicked hot chocolate and delicious hot coffee which we took to our table. Then a young chef, proud of his creation brought us a refreshing caprese salad and a delightful Diabalo panini. We sat and enjoyed our lunch immensely. Food and service were so good - I made a point of telling them that they were top notch and truly went beyond our expectations. Only reason I took away a star is because of the way these two hard working lads were treated by the management. After we ate our food I went to the counter to order 2 gelatos. A lady was helping and I mentioned how amazed we were at the food and service. She took that with a smile, took my money and then we walked to the gelato display of about 8 flavours. We chose our gelatos but felt rather ‘regimented’ as she served us. We took our gelatos, sat down and didn’t really think too much about this until a few minutes later when the same lady/manager made a point of bringing out the first young lad that served us and berated him for how he had been scooping the gelato. He was apologetic and took the scolding in stride. Now I understand she may have been doing this as a means of ‘quality control’ - but it should be done with more grace and not directly in front of customers. They both went back into the kitchen until the lady returned again, but this time with the other worker. Same berating attitude in front of customers and this time, the employee looked rather humbled and embarrassed. Unfortunately, it took the high end polish off the amazing experience we were having and tarnished it with a poor management style as it really killed the atmosphere! We will probably come back again as perhaps she was having a bad day? I hope so... as those two lads did an incredible job and did not deserve being publicly shamed.

Subway is a casual counter-serve chain that offers customizable sandwiches and salads, including options for health-conscious individuals. During a visit on a Tuesday afternoon, an employee named Clifford skillfully prepared a delicious footlong Subway Club sandwich. Notably, his name badge indicated he was still in training despite having been with the company for six months. It may be beneficial to give him a regular name badge to reflect his evident expertise.
The evening staff here was out of this world!!! Would give them a ten star rating!!! We had the BEST service here that we have ever had at any subway ever in all the decades we have eaten at Subway… staff was knowledgeable, quick, generous and made the best salads and sandwiches we have ever bought and eaten! I am very disappointed with the service I received from an employee named Aileen. She was extremely rude during my visit and showed no interest in treating customers with respect. Instead of being polite and attentive, she was dismissive, impatient, and acted as if helping me was a burden. This is not acceptable in a customer service role, especially in a place like Subway where people expect a friendly and welcoming environment. If this is how staff are allowed to treat customers, it reflects very poorly on the management. I hope her behavior is addressed immediately, because no customer should have to deal with such unprofessional service.

It's difficult to evaluate because the food was delicious! The problem, I ordered a salad and only received half of the usual amount! My husband's sandwich was the same as usual, foot-long, plenty of filling!

I am very disappointed with the service I received from an employee named Rupi. She made my sandwich in a very poor manner. She didn’t even ask me what kind of cheese I wanted and instead choose it herself, which shows a lack of patience and care. Her customer service was extremely rude and unprofessional. Honestly, in my entire life I have never experienced such poor food quality and such terrible service. This is completely unacceptable in customer service. I hope the management immediately addresses her misbehavior.

I occasionally buy from this location and I've never had a problem with the staff here. They've always been pleasant and efficient, and when you tell them you want extra or 'a lot' of whatever, you get enough that you don't have to ask for more. Lines during busy periods tend to move quickly - the only slowdowns I've ever seen have involved customers who let their brain take the day off.

Aha Sushi & Teriyaki in Duncan is renowned for serving exceptional sushi. The quality of their dishes is outstanding, even during busy times. Their menu offers a variety of options, including a delicious teriyaki chicken dish that comes with an ample serving of meat and stir-fried vegetables on a bed of rice. Felt like something fast but not the usual nasty burger. I stopped by here for some teriyaki chicken, and it was great! $16 for a large serving of chicken and sitr-fried vegetables on a bed of rice. There was plenty of both meat and veg. Tasted very good - and it was fast! I recommend!

Easily some of the best sushi in town. Love the service, as the staff is very friendly. I'm big into spice, and their Volcano Roll was told to me by the staff, to be the spiciest. It was, no doubt, delicious accompanied by a magnificent Deluxe Udon Noodle Soup with fresh veggies, beef, chicken, and shrimp. I found I had a desire for even more spice for the sushi (just personal preference), and upon returning they offered to make it spicier by adding non deepfried raw spicy tuna, and extra spicy mayo for virtually no additional costs. Finally I'd like to add that the overall pricing of the menu is more than reasonable, especially given the delicious quality of the food. THANK YOU Ahi Sushi & Teriyaki!!! I will be back, and recommend you to everyone!

A pizzeria called Panago Pizza offers a variety of thin-crust, regular, and multi-grain pies with an extensive range of toppings. Recently, a young girl who was new to the delivery service went above and beyond for a customer by returning with the missing drink and apologizing for the oversight. This level of exceptional service is rare among delivery drivers, especially considering the distance she had to travel from Duncan to Glenora. The food itself was also consistently delicious as per usual.

Friendly staff. Unfortunately the orders have been wrong the last 3 times we've gone.

The service at the Duncan location is outstanding! The past two deliveries have arrived well ahead of schedule with a very friendly, professional and polite staff member greeting me. The food is the same as most large pizza places, decent on a good day but the convenience and service of this location keeps me coming back.

Absolutely loved it. The price was fair and the taste was great. You have the opportunity to build your own stir-fry, from protein to veg to sauce, and then pay for the total by weight. The homemade sauces are killer ! Friendly and fast service... we'll be back!

Really lovely owners! The food was decent. We grabbed some tofu salad rolls and number 2 combo for takeout. Really great place to eat if you have to watch your sodium and sugar levels. Very clean, simple ingredients. Would've loved more spice, but otherwise we're happy!

Really enjoy it here. The food seems to be very "clean", without additives and unhealthy ingredients.

Great food. Great portions and good meat portion. Great vegetable portion. Not a fan of mushrooms so wish it was a bit easier to just swap it for another veggie which it usually happens but sometimes more or less is added. But overall it’s great and price is reasonable compared to others with these new COVID prices.

Love coming here and making my own stirfry, great options to choose from. Vegetables always seem to be really fresh and the choices for meat are great! My only reason I don't give a 5 star is it's expensive however you do get a good amount of food. Other menu options are good the Chinese food is good! The owners are such sweet people I love coming in and chatting with them!

Do the build a bowl and let them do your sauces. Be aware the bowls come on chow mein noodles or rice so only add noodles if you want. The food is delicious. We also tried the won ton soup which has awesome dumplings in it with a nice subtle flavoring.

Love the mongrill ! Amazing build your own stir-fry with always fresh ingredients and in house sauces to choose from. Never once have I had a bad experience here and I've been here hundreds of times. The owners are always welcoming and kind! I drive from Victoria just to come here after moving from duncan. Very Fair prices and always leave full with left overs!

This is a fun spot, the first time I ordered off the menu, it's was really good and quick. But the second time I watched someone prepare their own. You grab a bowl and there is a large selection of meats and veggies and sauces. That time I had scallops, pork, beef, white chicken, dark chicken, and almost every veggie, and I combined 3 sauces. It was really good. Now my favorite is pork and pineapple. And like 1 or 2 scallops. I still mix a few sauces and a couple mushrooms and then they weigh it and grill it up for you. I'd recommend especially if your in a hurry.

Reviewing purely on the kind and sweet young woman that work at the drive-thru window in the last couple months. I thought it was a fluke, for 1, but each time I’ve gone, the next young woman is just as kind and nice. That’s now three times! Keep up the good work!

Usually it's fast food and you get what you get for some reason this burger king I always have problems with /seems to be a lack of consistency or training. Food is often missing small items /found a deep fried piece of plastic in a to go order, food issues not in other franchises etc. there is an abundance of fast food around so may just be better off going somewhere more consistent.

Staff was very lazy. Took 15mins to get a Whopper at 2:15 in the afternoon on a Tuesday. Then the fries were cold. Add another 3mins for fries. And can they play something else besides Bruno Mars? Thanks.

Time after time, always the wrong order or they forget basic things like the sauce you asked for or a straw for your drink. They don’t listen and talk over you. Ask for extra mayo and no onion? It’s one or the other they can’t do both.more then one task and your order is guaranteed wrong and you will have to go back. And wait and hope they can manage to fix it.

Stopped with my son on the way from Victoria. The staff was very nice and helpful, the food was fast and good. We don't have a King around Campbell River, so it was a nice change from the others!!!! Clean area , parking is good and drive thru was busy. Was a great time to enjoy the nuggets and burgers!!!

The girl working this morning with the pig tails is amazing!!!! So sweet and friendly. Looked like she was alone but was killing it!! Love her

The restaurant is clean and has enough seating, making it easy to grab a bite whether you’re dining in or using the drive-thru.
