Cafe
Alderlea Farm and Cafe is a charming countryside destination with a small, quaint farmhouse offering outdoor seating and stunning views. The menu features basic but delicious dishes made with farm-grown ingredients, including salads, burgers, soups, and wood-fired pizza. The wood-fired Hawaiian pizza is particularly recommended for its divine flavor created by locally-sourced ingredients and perfectly charred crust.
We had a wonderful two-night stay at Alderlea Farm! After long days of cycling, dinner at the café next door was a real highlight…from the wood-fired pizzas and grass-fed beef burgers to the fresh soups, crisp salads, and that unforgettable chocolate cake with whipped cream. Absolutely delicious, and such a memorable part of our stay! A big thank you to Katy and John for welcoming us so warmly. We feel lucky to have found this gem and can’t wait to return!
Joyce W — Google review
A peaceful retreat nestled in nature, with charming rustic décor and a welcoming atmosphere. The wood-fired pizza was absolutely delicious with a perfectly crisp crust and fresh, flavorful toppings. You can really taste the care and quality in every bite.
Solmaz S — Google review
Alderlea Farm's wood-fired Hawaiian pizza is a must-try. The fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and perfectly charred crust create a flavor experience that is simply divine. The staff's warm hospitality and the inviting farm-inspired atmosphere make this the perfect spot to savor an exceptional pizza. They have dog-friendly patio as well! All sizes of dogs are welcomed. Highly recommended for both casual dinners and weekend gatherings.
Rae W — Google review
Stopped in for a coffee and shared a pizza and piece of cake. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The views of the countryside from the deck are so lovely and peaceful.
Drena H — Google review
Our maps from the car took us on a rambling circuitous trip which would’ve been far easier if we’ve planned it right. However well worth the journey. We were surprised at the number of people there though it wasn’t crowded, and the pizza we shared was superb and unbelievably good. As was the service. Unpretentious but charming. At the risk of sounding clichéd, This was about best prepared pizza I’ve had in my life.
Brett C — Google review
Lovely spot for farm to table. Pizza is excellent. Burgers look great - we all had pizza including gluten free. Prices reasonable $22 - $24 for hand crafted pizza from a wood burning pizza oven. The pie was also delicious. Local beer, cider and soda!
Ann B — Google review
What a special place!!! Real Food and real people. One of my most memorable meals of this year - pizza and burgers and salad all amazing using fresh ingredients. I also appreciated their handcrafted soda and cider selection. Don’t miss - it’s a real gem!
A H — Google review
All the meals I have had here have been delicious but I think my favorite is the spinach pizza. When that thing comes to your table it smells divine and then it tastes exactly the way it smells, rich and garlicky and cheesy and the crust somehow is both thin and pillowy soft. Lovely combination of flavor and mouthfeel. With the view of the farmland behind the cafe and the quaint seating, it is a really fun experience. Honestly it's worth driving from Victoria to this place.

Arbutus Cafe is a charming spot in downtown Duncan, offering generous and tasty dishes with unique options like multiple fresh-made pies that change regularly. The cafe has a cute patio section and exudes an old-school, small-town vibe. Despite limited parking, the friendly staff and delicious food make it a popular choice for locals and visitors alike. The use of fresh ingredients, homemade sauces, and hand-cut fries adds to the appeal of this diner-style eatery.
A friend that is a regular suggested to go there for brunch. I was pleasantly surprised. The crew was really nice and food came in very fast, even when they were quite busy at that time. The restaurant was nice but starting to feel the pass of time. Still a good option for breakfast and brunch. Note they don’t open on Sundays and close early.
Izmet B — Google review
This is a place that locals go over and over again which bodes well. The owner and the waitstaff are friendly and helpful. The food is wonderful - generous servings and great taste. The atmosphere is jovial and friendly. People who don't even know each other chat between tables. The art all over the walls really adds to the charm of the place. Highly recommend, especially if you want to see the real Duncan.
Diane G — Google review
This place is incredibly cozy, and the service is outstanding. It feels like stepping into a family member’s home—welcoming, comforting, and full of heart. The food is delicious and satisfying, with a wonderfully diverse menu. I felt genuinely cared for while enjoying the atmosphere. If I could, I’d eat here every single day.
Ethereal — Google review
Generous with fillings, super tasty, and options you don't see everywhere else! Multiple fresh made pies which change. There's a cute patio section if you walk through. Has such a genuine, old school, small town vibe. The poutine comes with grated cheese instead of cheese curds, but it tasted great and the fries were the best I've had in a long time, fresh and crispy! There isn't much parking but I'd recommend parking and walking anyway, there are plenty of places to see on the way! Help keep downtown alive. We'll definitely be back!
Justine — Google review
Love this little local diner but this is the second time we have gone in for a late breakfast (9:30), which they say they serve until 11, and gotten hash browns that were obviously made for the 7 am crowd. And the bacon had also been on the grill around that time. The pancake, however, was wonderful, huge and fluffy. The waitresses are great and the service is friendly. We'll be back, but not for breakfast.
Holly W — Google review
Funky little coffee shop & diner. Endless good fresh coffee and ingredients. Old school gravy and home made muffins, jam and specials are always good and have good value. The Wall Art is still super unique.
Carrie B — Google review
Very quaint spot with welcoming staff and a lovely whiteboard of specials. The food tasted fresh and homey. I could tell it's where families come to spend time during the weekends or daytime with it's cozy feel
Sheena A — Google review
It’s a cute old school restaurant with a nice outdoor deck and lovely service but the food was incredibly underwhelming and quite expensive for the quality you get. The toast was thin and plain tasting. The eggs lacked flavour and the hash tasted more like grease than anything else. For $16 I expected slightly better quality. So while it wasn’t a bad experience it wasn’t somewhere I would go again.

Nestled in the heart of Duncan, Tin Cup Espresso Bar is a delightful spot that beckons coffee lovers and food enthusiasts alike. This charming café offers a cozy atmosphere where you can savor organic coffee, specialty drinks, and freshly baked goods. With an inviting menu featuring breakfast and lunch options made from wholesome ingredients, it's the perfect place to unwind or catch up with friends.
The place is cozy, a great rest stop while walking across Duncan. For $8.82 I had an 8oz Earl Grey tea and brownie, they offer milk if you order tea, you have to get your own utensils and put your own dirty dishes away for them when done eating. Payment is upfront and not after your meal. The staff are very friendly and professional. The chairs are comfortable albeit showing some wear and tear. Overall I highly recommend if you want to go somewhere for a quick snack and to cool off from the hot sun.

The coffee was absolutely exquisite - both visually stunning with beautiful latte art and perfectly delicious in taste. But what truly stood out was the exceptional customer service that Tan has offered to us. The barista's warmth, kindness, and attentiveness to our needs created a wonderful experience. His profound understanding of customer care and genuine hospitality made our visit truly memorable. Thank you for going above and beyond Tan! You are such a great asset for your shop.

A hidden gem. Collections of "tin” cups (as name suggests), free grapes, and the fish tank are so cool to find in a coffee shop. Featured multiple flavors of bubble tea tasted surprisingly good and I ordered a Tara-flavor bubble tea and some coconut bar dessert. It is a big surprise to discover a bubble tea place in Duncan! Would definitely revisit and try their coffee options if I travel in Duncan again and highly recommended!!
Forrest L — Google review
Very well-mannered staff, always polite and pleasant. Customers are generally seniors and some families. Good place to read and journal.

Nice coffee shop, and they serve bubble tea! Any drink you order you can also turn into bubble tea! And the snacks there are nice for a quick bite to eat!

What a fun little coffee shop to stumble into! Charming, great service, great food and drinks! Can't wait to come back here on my visits to duncan. Also has delicious bubble tea. Love the charming atmosphere, very cozy!

After coming back from overseas for a year, Tin Cup is still one of my favourite spots for Boba Tea. I have tried some of their snacks in the past, but not recently. Their boba does feel a bit heavier with the sugar, but their tapioca pearls have actual flavour and have always been a good texture when I've come here. Very refreshing and cheap compared to other spots! My next favourite is in Victoria, so this is very convenient 😅
Birdineye — Google review
A charming coffee shop in a quaint historic architecture inside. Relaxing, comfy, quiet and inviting describes this spot. I choose Tin Cup as it is a quite location with big comfy chairs and is my preferred business meeting choice. You can talk at a normal volume and easily hear each other. The coffee has always been great as they use Drumroasters beans. I love the fresh baking and cookies with the ginger molasses cookies being my favourite

Nestled in a cozy setting, it offers an impressive selection of freshly roasted coffees and organic teas, alongside delicious baked goods and meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Visitors rave about the warm hospitality provided by the friendly staff who create a welcoming atmosphere perfect for both casual visits and client meetings.
A pleasant little coffee shop with a good range of hot and cold beverages, especially teas and coffees. The service from the older couple who ran the place was good. The coffee was very good, better than certain large international chain's coffee... Being a visitor from the UK I enjoyed trying the local Nanaimo bar and a few other local treats on subsequent visits. I would definitely recommend this wee coffee shop.
Denise M — Google review
My local "go to coffee place," as I do not live far away. I meet clients there in the quiet room, I am always happy to take away a bucket of coffee grounds for the garden. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the food, while pretty standard for a coffee place, is always fresh. I like this place!!
Sharon J — Google review
Coffee is strong, hot and comes with the convenience of a drive through. I like the accessibility. Located at a controlled intersection with a light, so its an easy in and out no matter which way you're heading. There is always lots of seating available with two areas and comfy chairs. Also WiFi
Heather H — Google review
Older people who own and work in the shop are very sweet. But they never get my order right. The place is dumpy and the younger people who work there don’t seem interested. Prices are high and I guess you pay for the whip cream which I thought already came on the hot chocolate.
Local F — Google review
A second visit at which we decided the staff was modelling their customer service style on Fawlty Towers. A staffer having a meltdown - again, as on our last visit (same staff member as before we think) - with customers AND a rant at fellow staff members, plus the place is grubby. We'll pass this by on our next trip without hesitation. (Wed) Thanks for your response, but it's not likely to induce me to try your cafe again, esp. reading down previous complaints about staff demeanour. Obviously you are a) hiring the wrong staff, and/or b) not training them properly and/or c) not supervising appropriately, and/or b) not retraining them as necessary. Yours is a customer service industry. Your establishment conveys in no way that you are trying to provide the best experience for your customers. There are so many options for people looking for good products provided by well run businesses. So I choose to go elsewhere.
Lois P — Google review
Great place to stop for coffee! The older barista told us to go through the dealership parking lot because coming in the way we came was pretty dangerous and difficult. I appreciated the thoughtful caring service that goes beyond just serving good hot coffee.
Graeme S — Google review
Good egg salad sandwich! Nice selection of teas. Bathrooms are a bit dirty and decor is dated and cluttered. Overall experience was good/ what I would expect for a coffee shop in this location.
Jahnine F — Google review
Went in early(ish) morning on a Friday. The lady & gent working were super friendly. Like, surprisingly so. I’m NOT a morning person & they definitely put a smile on my face. Got 2 dark roast coffees, a cookie & a wrap. It was all deelish. Four stars due to the price of the wrap ($6+!!). But it was good.....will go back when we’re back in the area.

Nestled in the Duncan Garage building, Duncan Garage Café & Bakery is a charming vegetarian eatery offering a delightful array of breakfast and lunch options, along with organic coffee, specialty drinks, and delectable pastries. The ever-changing menu ensures there's always something new to savor. The café's cozy and bohemian atmosphere adds to its allure. Visitors can also enjoy ample outdoor seating at this popular spot.
It’s not hard to see why this place has over 1000 reviews. We had breakfast at the Duncan Garage Bakery on our way to Victoria and were so glad we stopped, as this really showed us the lovely, earthy, and gentle side of Duncan. The food and drinks on offer were handmade with love, delicious, and kind to the earth. There is plenty of seating inside. A great used bookstore rounds out the space and it appears that there are other businesses on the second floor. A lovely, humane little area with so much to offer.

Super cute spot, and there frozen to go goods are always delightful! Definitely recommend the frozen Dhal soup! The hot food is often very large, and I always feel I could have shared! The drinks are great! And don’t forget to stop into the cute bookshop while waiting for your food!

Great little bakery and cafe. Vegan, gluten-free. We are not into the vegan lifestyle but were looking for Gluten free options. The Quesadilla was really good. The rice noodle bowl was ok and could have had heartier vegetables added. The Nanaimo bar was good. The crimson tea was delicious. Overall a decent choice.
Brian O — Google review
Such a cozy gem in the heart of Duncan. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I love how the walls are decorated with local paintings and art, which gives the space a creative and vibrant touch. The food is fresh, hearty, and full of flavor, with lots of thoughtful options for different diets. Their baked goods are simply amazing—perfect with a cup of their rich, smooth coffee. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful place to relax, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy delicious food.
Alena K — Google review
I finally got to check out Duncan Garage Café & Bakery and wow — what a vibe! The place has so much character with its historic building, cozy corners, and tons of seating. It feels welcoming the moment you walk in, like a space where people actually want to hang out, chat, or just enjoy their coffee in peace. The crowd adds to the charm — a mix of locals, travelers, and just genuinely beautiful people inside and out. It’s one of those spots where the energy feels light and positive, almost like a community hub. Food-wise, everything feels fresh and wholesome. I love that they focus on organic and vegetarian options, and the baked goods are definitely worth a try (don’t skip them with your coffee!). The coffee itself is decent, though I’d say the atmosphere and food are what really shine here. Service was friendly and relaxed, which fits the overall feel. It does get busy, but it never felt rushed — more like everyone’s on “garage café time.” What makes it even better is the location — it’s right close to the totem tours in downtown Duncan, so it’s a perfect stop before or after exploring the city’s famous totem poles. All in all, I’d call this place a little gem in Duncan. If you’re looking for good food, good people, and a space that just radiates good energy, this is the spot.
Sheika F — Google review
There must be new owners because the usual “granola type staff” have vanished. The ones who believed the motto of “food into your body should be healthy and uplifting” are gone. Replaced by a baseball hat wearing manager and new staff who make drinks wrong. The portions are smaller while the prices are higher. It used to be a favorite stop when I travelled up island. Now I will be avoiding it! Booo new owners!! Goodbye goodwill
Wanda L — Google review
I came across Garage & Café while walking around Duncan, and it turned out to be such a lovely surprise! From the outside, I didn’t expect much, but inside the café was beautiful, lively, and full of tasty looking drinks and food. The staff were also super friendly. I ordered a matcha latte and a few slices of pizza. The latte was made so pretty, not too sweet, and I loved the soft green color while drinking it. The pizza was honestly way better than I expected I would definitely recommend it! Next time, I’m excited to try more items on their menu.

I just went to the cafe for the first time after I used the gym upstairs. The 2 women working there, I think one have maybe been the owner? Were so kind and lovely and funny too! I got my food to go, and it is still delicious as I eat it at home. I will be coming back!

Four of us & the dog enjoyed a delightful tasty lunch on the outside seating on a warm day in the shade @ the Corner House Cafe during Duncan Days in July 2025. The server was super attentive & even brought water & treats for the dog. We'll be back next time were in downtown Duncan.

Don't recommend Chinese food. No rice, replacement for almond breaded chicken was 1 spring roll, replaced fried rice with 4 won ton. Definitely not worth what we paid!
Kathy G — Google review
Good food, very friendly and attentive staff, very nice vibe. Don't get me wrong, this is not a gourmet restaurant, it is good diner food served fresh. We had breakfast, eggs done as we ordered them, excellent, juicy sausages, nice thick, tasty bacon. The hash browns looked to be baked potatoes that had been grated and fried, which is what I like. A little bland perhaps, but not greasy, next time I'll ask for onions. The sourdough toast was good, jam on the side. Unlimited coffee. All for $11.00 and change, can't beat that. Lots of regulars, all greeted by name. While we were there I noticed a sign talking about a Chinese food special. Sounded good, I will have to give it a try, they offer takeout.

Stopped in with my family for a break on our way up island. Easy access location right off highway. Very cute, retro themed spot. Great coffee, delicious muffins and cookies were enjoyed by all. The young women running the place were very nice. I accidentally spilled a little bit of my coffee and went inside to grab a napkin and they asked if they could make me a new one. Its wasn't necessary as it was just a few drops, but I appreciated the excellent service. We will be back!

This is a must-stop spot on every trip up or down the Island. I have been stopping here for about twenty years: the coffee is superb, the food choices excellent (the soup was fantastic today) and the staff always nice. The place also has character.

We finally were in the area while Java World was open, on the way to Victoria... And it didn't disappoint! The cappuccino was excellent and the breakfast sandwich had a great homemade feel to it. Look forward to visiting again!

Two words: lavender latte. Best breakfast sandwiches in town! Gluten free offered, and great with avocado on top. Update - I've moved out of town but still stop by whenever I'm passing through Duncan. Still amazing and the staff are such a delight. Also pleased to see they've expanded their non-dairy milk options!

This is my go to spot in town for a latte and breakfast sandwich. Everyone is always SO nice ( dog treats , pumpkins for kids). It’s a bit slower , not a Timmy’s , but worth it. Also MINI CINNIES. All of the baked goods are amazing.

Coffee on the Moon, a coffee shop in Duncan, stands out with its exceptional iced decaf latte and friendly staff who are knowledgeable and attentive. The decaf coffee itself is outstanding, accompanied by beautifully presented cups. The comfortable atmosphere is enhanced by the presence of local artwork. This cafe also boasts the best espresso in Duncan, along with delicious four berries smoothies, samosas, and wraps.
Very good coffee shop with art for sale. The staff was friendly welcoming. Coffee and smoothies were very good.

This place was nicer on the inside then the outside, was pleasantly surprised walking in. My flat white was good, not amazing but good. Definitely strong which I liked. The chicken panini was pretty good as well. Lots of seating options inside/outside and a good amount of parking

There isn’t much that separates coffee in the moon from other local coffee shops except the atmosphere. Relaxed atmosphere with an eclectic customer base. My favorite coffee shop in Duncan. Calzone was good, but nothing by special. Espresso was great, recommend! It is well staffed with fast and polite service.

Good food, with reasonable prices! For 2 drinks, and 2 savoury pastry’s our bill was just over $20. They however lost a star for how incredibly hot the beverages were, not sure they need to be scolding hot.

The brother and his girlfriend were in search of a breakfast spot this morning when they stumbled upon a charming cafe called Station Street Cafe. They indulged in the cafe's signature "Pumkin Spice Latte" and enjoyed a delectable breakfast sandwich that they hope to replicate at home sometime. The service was friendly, ensuring their desire to return in the future. The food at Station Street Cafe was not only great but also accompanied by wonderful people.
My brother n his girlfriend and I were searching for a place serving breakfast this morning. Someone on our journey directed us to this sweet lovely cafe. We ordered their special "Pumkin Spice Late" and a great breakfast sandwich that I'll attempt to make at home some time. Friendly service, I'll go back for sure😁

I really adore this cafe. The employees are consistently so amiable, their scones and baked goods are always scrumptious and reasonably priced. It's my go-to spot for cheese scones and Nanaimo bars! My daughter also adores their hot chocolates. Regardless of the timing or day, it's always a delightful experience here. The work atmosphere is fantastic, evident from how well everyone collaborates. I appreciate feeling welcomed and looked after each time I visit.
What a gem! This cafe was a pleasant surprise. The coffee was fresh, the counter person was peppy and kind, and they have a great selection of gluten free items. Muffins, sausage rolls, chicken curry pockets, multiple desserts... I would recommend the sausage rolls, they were the perfect blend of savory and flakey. The cafe itself is quite spacious with cute decor and lots of seating. Good for studying or just hanging out. I will be back!

Fishbowl Cafe in Duncan is a great spot for anyone looking for a wide range of drink options, from coffee and teas to Italian sodas and more. With such a diverse selection, you’re bound to find something you’ll enjoy. The cafe also has a spacious seating area, with plenty of outlets, making it a perfect place to hang out with friends or get some work done solo. It’s a lively spot and can get quite loud, but a good pair of noise-canceling headphones can help block out the buzz. The busy atmosphere is a testament to the cafe's popularity, and it’s easy to see why people keep coming back. Along with drinks, Fishbowl Cafe offers a selection of heated sandwiches and baked goods that are easy to take on the go. I highly recommend the apple and brie panini—it's a tasty option, though it could use a bit more creativity, like an added jam or unique twist. Overall, I’d give Fishbowl Cafe a 6.8/10. While the drinks and vibe are enjoyable, there’s room for improvement on the food front. A bit more creativity in their offerings could really elevate the experience!
Mayhanna H — Google review
We recently visited this place for the first time in an effort to support local businesses. Unfortunately, our experience left a lot to be desired. To start, the prices were noticeably high for what was offered. One glaring example was the glass of lemonade — it was nearly $5, and more than half the glass was filled with ice. When we politely mentioned that it seemed like too much ice, we were told that they actually charge extra if you want it without ice, which felt a bit unreasonable. The service was also very disappointing. When our sandwiches were brought to the table, they were placed down with what felt like minimal care — almost dropped, really. It gave off a rushed and dismissive vibe, which made the overall experience feel even less welcoming. As for the food, it was okay — nothing particularly special, and certainly not enough to justify the high prices. Everything felt a bit overpriced for the quality and portion sizes we received. But honestly, the biggest letdown was the service. It lacked warmth, attentiveness, and basic hospitality. It’s unfortunate because we really wanted to enjoy our visit and support a local spot, but based on this experience, we won’t be returning.

As my wife said, A great find. Amazing scone, got us thinking we gotta try baking some ourselves, and the curry meat pie was very flavorful. We are also taking leftover mango chutney home it’s that good. Oh yes lattes also great in fun big cups, and friendly staff. We sat in the couch by the big window so we could watch parents and kiddos walking to school. A great hip cafe in Duncan, who knew :)

First time visiting this cafe as a meet up place for me and my longtime friend . Relaxing atmosphere . Very reasonable prices and the food we had was good . Friendly staff . My only negative’s are while there is a wheelchair ramp there is no button to open the door either from the exterior or interior and my friend is in a mobility chair and I am disabled . They do offer some gluten free desert’s and vegan item’s are limited to that selection as well . I did not see any savoury item’s which are gluten free and vegan .If you are looking for a quiet place to meet up even given my negative’s I would recommend this place as a meeting place .

Met my brother & sister at the fishbowl today before we visited our mom....first time at this restaurant. I wish there was a sign saying seat yourself, maybe I missed it. Stood at the entranceway for about 5 minutes before seating myself. I am still not clear if there are waiters or not, but I finally went to the counter for service. I looked directly at the girl behind the counter & spoke to her .....she just left for somewhere else. Went back to my chair....eventually another person showed up behind the counter & I ordered a smoothie, it was was ok but cost was over $10. When my brother arrived I sent him to the counter & he got a coffee. My sister arrived & got a coffee & ordered me another smoothie. I guess my real complaint is about the staff who seemed to not really care about clients. They were definitely not overwhelmed with customers when we arrived. I should say that the young guy who I ordered my smoothie from was polite but I still had to ask if he was going to deliver it to our table. Incidentally, my second smoothie never arrived until my sister went & asked about it. Thanks Trevor

Upon initial inspection, Brewpoint Cafe appeared to be an ordinary establishment. However, it quickly became evident that this assumption was incorrect. The eatery boasted an extensive assortment of beverages and culinary offerings, evoking a sense of dining in a high-end restaurant rather than a typical cafe. The customer service provided was exceptional, comparable to being pampered on a tranquil Greek beach with endless amenities at one's disposal.
The only thing disappointing about this cafe is the fact that it isn’t open 24/7. Amazing space, wonderful and knowledgeable staff, and incredible quality products.10/10 every time I go in. Will be making a point of frequenting this lovely shop more often.

Vegan owned and operated, this cafe is on a perfectly picturesque downtown/historic area location and is fighting the good fight by providing healthy and delicious foods from a modest kitchen. I've only been a few times but I've liked everything I've had from there. Last time I had a bowl of butternut squash soup and a cranberry muffin that was excellent. I need to go more often. Edit: Sorry but I have to laugh at the chick who complained about a vegan cafe not serving "regular milk". I guess she missed the "vegan" part on the sign. Update: Reducing from 5 stars to 3. Unfortunately they've seem to have gone downhill since Covid, which is unfortunate. Last time I went there, in July, they had a very limited menu, no baked goods, and their produce looked about ready to be turfed so I went elsewhere. Hopefully they've gotten things back on track or will soon.

Gibby's Cafe and Catering is known for its delectable homemade sandwiches made with high-quality ingredients that offer a comforting, home-cooked flavor. Their Gibbys Starter, consisting of cheese scone topped with delicious ham and cheese, is highly recommended. Family friendly, tasty, and reasonably priced. I would pay a little more for more veggie-packed sandwiches that also have meat (maybe basic and a loaded options on the menu), but it's yum as-is. I miss the sister-store, which was closer to my normal haunts!

Hank's Bakery, just off the busy highway on Duncan’s outskirts, is a local favorite that’s well worth the extra drive. This bakery-café hybrid focuses on fresh-made food and seasonal specials, drawing in a steady stream of customers who don’t mind the bustling atmosphere for a taste of Hank’s quality. The bakery is often packed, and space inside is tight. Seating is limited, with a few small tables and a bar area that suits solo diners or those just grabbing a quick bite. It’s more of a grab-and-go spot than a sit-and-stay café, but the food keeps people coming back. Hank's stands out for its focus on fresh ingredients, which sets it apart from typical cafés that prioritize drinks. Their menu is always changing, with seasonal specials adding variety and keeping things exciting. Whether it’s fall-inspired pastries or summer-fresh salads, Hank’s makes the most of each season’s flavors. Overall, I’d rate Hank’s a 7.2/10. The quality of the food and seasonal offerings are huge pluses, though the busy, cramped space makes it a better fit for quick stops than extended visits. If you're in the area, it’s a must-try for fresh, flavorful fare!
Mayhanna H — Google review
Hanks was an amazing place to grab a bite to eat on our anniversary morning! Unfortunately as I was there I dropped some personal belongings and never noticed, when I realised what happened and called them, they immediately had it and held it for me! The cashier that morning (did not get her name) was super empathetic and simply wanted to help as I believe I was still missing some of the belongings. So aside from this unfortunate incident on my end I can surely say this has been one of the best customer service experience I have had! You guys rock!

We stayed in the Super 8 across the street, and just discovered this place because we were hungry. So happy we went here! Fieke V — Google review
All right, this may sound a little strange, but I had quite the odd experience today at Hanks 😆 my heart always gives 5 but there was an interesting interaction today. I’ve been here multiple times since moving from Toronto and absolutely adore the staff, the delicious food, the aesthetic, and of course the epic community vibe. Today, though, I was drawn to their deconstructed looking Earl Grey cake in the fridge—it looked amazeballs. I cheekily opened it while still in line (naughty, I know!) and took one bite. Immediately I tasted cumin—or some spice like it. My friends noticed my face and tried it too, and both agreed: not Earl Grey…kinda cumin 😂 We realized it was actually the blueberry ganache that had that savoury note. I figured it must’ve been a mix-up and kindly let the staff know at checkout, the same way I would’ve wanted someone to tell me back when I ran a café in Toronto. I also ordered the chicken sandwich (with blueberry chutney) and a carrot cake to reset my tastebuds. But lo and behold—when I bit into the sandwich, the chutney tasted exactly like what was in the cake! It suited the savoury Sammy for SURE - but not a cake! Once a realized, I went back and told them, and the woman at the counter—who happened to be the one who made both the jam and chutney—seemed upset. She insisted they were totally different, though she also said she wasn’t disagreeing (while clearly disagreeing). I asked if she had tasted it herself, but she didn’t respond. To top it off, she later brought samples of the jam that was “supposed” to be in the cake and the chutney for the sandwich. I tried them side by side—my friends did too—and we all agreed: there was definitely some unexpected spice in the jam, and it was the same spice in the chutney! Something must have been accidentally mixed up - news flash: shit happens! Honestly, I didn’t care at all, wasn’t upset, and wasn’t looking for an argument. I just thought it was important to give feedback so no one else had a confusing experience. But it was definitely a first for me: getting gaslit over flavour 😂 Never thought I’d say that! All in all, I’ll absolutely be back—the food and vibe are still fantastic. But maybe a little extra support in how to receive feedback could go a long way for the team.

I don't usually even like chocolate chip cookies but the fresh ones in the display case looked so good. It was delicious. Drove home with bread and a couple of treats. It was nice to be able to sit for a Vietnamese salad for lunch and being able to watch the baking staff at work was fun. This place is visible from the highway and very clean and well maintained. Perfect for the trip between Victoria going up island.

Glenora Store and Cafe is a charming spot that offers delicious baked goods, savory soups, and sandwiches. It's not just a cafe but also a convenience store, making it the perfect place to grab a meal, snack, or coffee any time of day. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, creating a friendly atmosphere for both locals and visitors. With its variety of homemade food and good coffee, it's considered a hidden gem in the area.
Adorable little store and cafe. My husband and I both had the chicken, bacon, and ranch panini. They were big and delicious. I had a cold brew coffee that had good flavor and wasn't watered down like some I've had. My husband had a hot chocolate and said it was great. The gentleman who helped us was very kind and welcoming. We're definitely going back again!

Wonderful local place that we discovered on our way to the Glenora Community Park. I'm so glad we decided to stop in on our way back. We got the Breve and Hot Chocolate with a delicious and generous salted chocolate chip cookie and enjoyed them there. There's seating inside and outside in a patio; we chose to sit at the original diner counter and stools that they saved and moved by the front window. We chatted with Joy, the manager, who was so friendly and warm, and shared some of the Store/Cafe's history. We could tell it's a real community space; based on the conversations and vibe. In addition to the fresh baked goods including samosas and their daily meal specials, there's a selection of homemade prepared frozen dinners that includes soups, enchiladas, and shepherd's pie. We bought the veggie chili and enchilada for dinner and enjoyed them. The store has lots of candy snacks, some basic provisions for the home, and sells goods from the Glenora Farm community - weavings and handmade soaps - that support the disabled residents who make them. I bought some soap as well. We plan on going back for more pre-made meals - easy for our quick visit to Duncan!

Our quick visit to this corner market & cafe was such a great experience. We needed a quick coffee and bite before hitting the road. A great selection pantry staples, locally made and grown artisan goods, and a frozen case full of delicious delights. We were welcomed right away and offered assistance. Genuinely great. My sausage roll/scone was fantastic and the drip coffee was perfect, with actual flavour: not the typical dark roast drip that tastes like licking a burnt-out stump. Only passing through, but I'll be back next time.

This place has become a local institution. A definite 'must-see' if you find yourself in Glenora. They have fancy coffee now along with fresh made food and standard convenience store products. I'm treated like family whenever I come

Quintessential rural corner Cafe. Best panini's and top qualify sausage rolls. It is a MUST if you are in town.

Delightful morning bike ride stop with tasty treats, good coffee, and great service. A historic stop that I hope stays in business for another 70 years!

Coffee shop
Coffee Shack is a trendy and visually appealing café with a combination of regular and unique seating areas. The establishment offers outdoor seating on a spacious deck. They excel in serving delicious coffee and various coffee-based beverages, although their tea selection can be unconventional at times. The quality of treats varies, with the one bite brownies resembling fudge balls too closely while the banana bread stands out as tasty. Polite staff members are present, alongside a sharing library for those in need of reading material.
Outrageously good coffee, food, service, music, and vibe. I had stopped by for to-go coffees a few times but just put in my first multi hour hangout here and it's been a truly fantastic day for me so far! Even the other customers here are pleasant and nice! I can't have a sip of a coffee without an adorable old lady saying something equally sweet and hilarious.

This is a pretty cool looking coffee house. They have a semi-regular area for seating but then an eclectic area that feels like someone's home. They also have outside seating on a deck outside. They do a really good job on coffee's and even coffee variations but the teas are sometimes a little odd. The treats are hit and miss. The one bite brownies were too much like fudge balls, but the banana bread was good. The staff are polite and there is a sharing library if you have nothing to read while being there. There is plenty of free parking and they are on a bus route.

Bad Coffee and old stale food, owner is a low life. Coffee Shack Refusing to pay employee. Manipulative, demoralizing and a negative to the community and people wanting honest work. Open investigation with Revenue Canada. disappointment.

This place has good coffee, too bad it is not open at 6 am like it used to be or after 4:30pm daily. I drive every day shortly after 6 am daily on my way to work and i have to go to Tim hortons or Coop down the road to get a coffee and same thing after 430pm daily..3 stars because of this reason.

Awsome freshly cooked food. The breakfast sandwich and pulled pork are probably the best in the valley. The atmosphere is great, lots of beautiful wood work in the building and friendly staff. The poutine is amazing

Quick and friendly service. The new owner has really improved the cafe. Looks much better and the coffee is delicious. Looking forward to the the future menu options with later open hours.
