Bakery
Alsancak Dostlar Fırını is a must-visit bakery in Izmir, offering a delectable selection of boyoz, an unleavened pastry that has become a symbol of the city.
Wanted to try the Boyoz, and I got so happy I did Many different fillings Tried one with spinach, one with mozzarella and spices, and one with chocolate All are delicious Highly Recommended
Joe D — Google review
Alsancak Dostlar Fırını is a must-visit bakery in İzmir! I tried their vegan boyoz options contain aubergine , artichoke, and aegean herbs, and they were absolutely delicious—flaky, flavorful, and fresh. The staff is friendly. Highly recommend for anyone looking to try authentic and vegan-friendly pastries!
Yagmur I — Google review
Rate:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fantastic spot for authentic Turkish breakfast! Their specialty, Boyoz, is simply amazing — perfectly crisp and flaky on the outside with delicious fillings inside. The flavors are rich yet balanced, and surprisingly well-suited to Asian taste preferences. Definitely worth a visit if you want to try a true local delicacy.
Edward D — Google review
The best and most famous boyoz shop in Izmir. They have a nice variety of boyoz. My favorite are pastirma, minced meat, and chocolate ones. The rest is ok but some of them have a little stuffing like the mozzarella cheese one which has a very little amount of cheese in it. Don’t forget to order their special kahvaltilik sauce and tulum cheese. Have a tea and enjoy 🫖

Review of Dostlar Firini coffee shop Izmir tues 17 Dec 24 Had traditional Turkish tea Served variety of pies Always busy for fresh on the go pies or just a Turkish tea Seating inside and outside watching the crowd pass by Friendly staff
Biker R — Google review
The boyoz here is absolutely perfect – soft inside, crispy outside, and full of authentic Izmir flavor. If you’re in Alsancak, Dostlar Fırını is the best place to enjoy this local specialty. A must-try!
Ferhat Y — Google review
Very fast service, almost no waiting time. You have to list your order twice, once to eat and later to pay. There are 16 sorts of boyoz including sweet ones. The shop is well located on the most vibrant street on İzmir. Boyoz is the local defining food of izmir, structure like börek and is good for breakfast, brunch or even lunch.
Mohamed E — Google review
Inexpensive pastries that make for a nice breakfast. I had to wait in line for about three minutes. Among the flavors: spinach, spinach and cheese, mozzarella, chocolate. 50 Liras each as of August 2025, 25 liras for a cup of tea, 100 Litas for a limonata. You get the pastries at the counter. They bring the drinks to the table. Happy customer. 5 stars!

Kordon Yengeç Restaurant in Izmir is a perfect spot for groups who enjoy communal dining. The restaurant's trendy and urban interior features a blend of blue and grey tones, with chairs on one side and couches on the other, creating a stylish atmosphere. Known as one of the best fish restaurants in Izmir, it offers a unique dining experience with its chic design and pleasant ambiance, complemented by views of the Kordon.
Had a wonderful dinner at Kordon Yengeç. The grilled seabass 🐟was excellent, juicy, tasty & fresh 😋. Plenty option of cold salad. Cold mackerel was recommended. Good services with nice ambience. Though we're seating oudoor, it was covered & sheltered with warm dining area. Overall it's a recommended place to eat in Kordon area at Izmir.
Riki K — Google review
In general the food was nice: fresh and tasty. The disappointment however stays when you leave the restaurant with a feeling of being ripped off. If you pay 500 + 550 (over 20€) for a couple of fried rings of calamari and a few octopus served together on a small plate than you really don’t want to come back there again.
Ewa S — Google review
Restaurant is good, quality of food is satisfying, good position on the Kordon; you have a good selection of fish and meze. Not cheap.
Manucsn — Google review
I love fish. I really enjoyed it; it was just as it should be—fresh and delicious.
Torsten T — Google review
Nice fish restaurant mainly for local people. Do not forget to book your table before coming. In the evening the restaurant was full. White local wine was served perfectly cold in a bucket with ice. Recommended!
Олег Б — Google review
This place is a TOURIST TRAP- Their menu does not have prices for fish entrees or Mezze's. They will ask you to order by looking at these items kept on display in a glass display room. We ended up paying £50 just for some Mezze and a fish. Luckily, that's the only thing I ordered. None of them were worth it. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews!! You don't eat fish here, You are the fish for their dinner!!
Andreea M — Google review
Only good thing about this place is that my fish fillet was perfectly grilled. Other than that, this place is a total tourist trap. Everything else we tried was mediocre. They offer no menus, and when I insisted, they brought one without any prices next to each platter! Waiter insisted that we ordered standing in front of window refrigerators where appetizers were standing without any description (or price, of course), and without anyone being able to explain in basic English (just a few english words here and there). Very expensive for Turkish standards, even for a fish restaurant. I noticed a Completely different approach when it came to local (turkish) customers, which makes me believe pricing was different too.
Nikolas K — Google review
Very nice restaurant. You can reserve a table inside or in the terrace. They offer chicken, meat, and fish based meals. there is a long list of appetizers and starters to choose from. The desserts are delicious as well. It is really worth visiting!

Neighborhoods
Kemeraltı Bazaar is a historical district in Izmir, stretching from the ancient Agora to Konak Square. It's a lively area with local shops, eateries, workshops, mosques, and more. The bazaar offers traditional Turkish handicrafts, ceramics, carpets, leather products and more in its indoor and outdoor spaces. The bustling market is the heart of Izmir's shopping scene with modern business centers, shops, cinemas and cafeterias catering to all kinds of shoppers.
We visited Kemeraltı Bazaar on a Saturday — it was quite crowded but had a lively and authentic atmosphere. The bazaar is extensive and offers almost everything: clothing, accessories, fixtures, sweets, butchers, restaurants, and more. A great place to experience local culture and shop for a wide variety of items in İzmir.
Mohammad D — Google review
This place is huge. One can find anything from printing service to suits and souvenirs. Of course there are a lot of restaurants and cafes. There is no need to visit every corner of it. Maybe just casually stroll and see where one is lead to.
Kev — Google review
Beautiful place, lots of stores to buy just about anything. Some are cheap and others expensive. Cool experience seeing the historical building and having a tasty Turkish coffee in the middle of the market. It’s closed on sundays. Free to walk around

A great place to walk around. We tried the mussels and rice. They were excellent. We also did the pickle juice which was also excellent. Lots and lots of interesting shops.
Neil A — Google review
Unique bazaar as there is no goods and shops for tourists. Most of famous bazaar in Turkey is full of shops for tourist with expensive price. But here, most of customers are Izmir people. I like this bazaar. Merchants are friendly and kind! Visit here and feel some authentic turkey bazaar vibe!
Mothusi — Google review
The best part of our trip was a visit to the bazaar. It is massive and full of interesting shops. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Be mindful of the middle men and prices can be high. Plenty of places to eat. Take time and make a day of it
Queen B — Google review
Kemeralti bazaar is quite a busy place. You can find hundreds of things to buy from there as the prices are reasonably low. Make sure you have enough space in your suitcase before visiting the bazaar because there are too many souvenirs to buy. There are beautiful bags with Turkish embroidery patterns and praying beads and countless teas and coffees. There are numerous cafes to have a quick bite but they are all super busy. This bazaar is a must visit place.

Etçiahmet is a fine dining restaurant in Izmir known for its top-quality meat and extensive meze selection. The charming ambiance resembles a traditional mayhane, offering a visual tour of the meze display case. The menu features an array of grilled meats, fantastic steaks, and a variety of vegetarian options. Guests praise the delicious appetizers and attentive service, although some mention limited space for large groups and early closing times.

We went there with my friends so expensive for nothing. We just wanted to taste some turkish food and one portion of kofte was smaller then a kids menu size mate and for some meat that wouldnt even full a 3 year old kid was 230 liras.
Lydia J — Google review
(Translated by Google) The köpoğlu, pepper tarator, and melon and cheese were all delicious. The sea beans could use some improvement; we found them flavorless. However, when the shashlik arrived, I could say we forgot all about the appetizers. It was tender, cooked just right, and the marinade was delicious. I'm including the bill as a reference; the prices are reasonable. I recommend you try the shashlik. It's a meat restaurant, as the name suggests, and after such a dish, there's no reason to deduct points. I'll be back. Well done. Tekrar gelirim. Elinize sağlık.

(Translated by Google) We frequent other taverns on this street, so we decided to try this one this time. It was around 6 p.m. when we arrived, and the place was empty, so I can say we got good service. I don't know if it's busy. We tried things like shashlik, liver, and sweetbreads wrapped in kokoreç, and they were all delicious! The shashlik, in particular, was wonderfully marinated, tender, and juicy. Definitely try it. The mezes were also delicious, and the meze portions were enough for three people—not tiny, I mean meze portions, which is good. We had 70 lira rakı and the meats I mentioned, four different mezes, and salads, for 2200 TL per person. Fruit was served. It might seem a bit pricey, but I was very pleased with everything, and we ended up eating meat. Considering we usually pay around 1400 TL at places where we only eat meze and raki, I think the prices aren't bad. The shop is narrow and narrow, and might be a bit cramped for groups of more than four. Smoking is allowed inside, which might bother some. There are things like that. Other than that, we were very pleased. It's a nice establishment.
Tardu M — Google review
(Translated by Google) Quality service and delicious food. A place where you can come and sit quietly and spontaneously, and the prices are about the same as other taverns. (Original) Kaliteli hizmet ve lezzetli yemekler. Sakin ve spontane bir şekilde gelip oturabileceğiniz bir mekan fiyatlar diğer meyhanelerle aynı sayılır.
Berat Ö — Google review
(Translated by Google) Liver in butter is especially recommended. Shashlik and marinated meats are delicious, appetizers are delicious. Waiters are attentive. A good example of the new generation taverns. (Original) Tereyağında ciğer özellikle tavsiye edilir. Şaşlık ve marine edilmiş etler lezzetli, mezeler lezzetli. Garsonlar ilgili. Yeni nesil meyhanelere iyi bir örnek.
Rukiye K — Google review
(Translated by Google) The appetizers are very delicious. Leaf liver is a must try. The place is a bit narrow, there is not much space for large groups. It has more of an after-work, Sunday afternoon brewing atmosphere. There is only one negative, even though the closing time appears to be 2pm, they start turning off the lights after 12 at night, even if there are customers sitting in the place. I find this move very disrespectful.
Irem G — Google review
(Translated by Google) The flavor hasn't changed in years... The staff is incredibly attentive and attentive. We've been going for years, and neither the flavor nor the service has changed. Izmir Sakız Alsancak Restaurant is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, offering a fast and fresh lunch during the day and transforming into a lively meyhane-style eating and drinking establishment at night. Located on the waterfront by the Pasaport pier, it is known for its sensational fresh seafood dishes, including favorites like octopus with eggplant and sea bass wrapped in chard.
Loved the calamari, I ordered twice 😄 Octopus without eggplant paste would be better I think. Location is amazing, good view even though it was rainy day. Nice people & service. Would for sure recommend.

Got to this restaurant.. the setting is abit fancier compared to other nearby cafe/restaurant. The food exceeded our expectations, we ordered the sea bass and grilled octopus. They absolutely surprised us. The house wine couldn’t be lovelier pairing for the seafood 😍
Shui W — Google review
My best meals in Izmir for the trip were here. Grilled sea bass was fresh and tasty, their seasonal salad featured greens at their best, and the grilled octopus was simply sublime. We also had a bunch of other amazing side dishes such as the Fava broad bean pate, and believe it or not, they served the best grilled chicken I’ve had in Türkiye. Not bad for a seafood restaurant! They also serve good local wine
Ryan H — Google review
Great, inviting restaurant. On waterfront. Good menu - seafood, red meat, chicken, salads, mezze, cold beer and decent wine options. Service was efficient and friendly. Ordered mezze - Fava (Broad bean pate) delicious, with dill, red onion. Mains: Crispy calamari (tender, but very very small sized pieces even as an entree) came with aioli yoghurt, Izgara Köfte (grilled meatballs) served with grilled tomato, pepper, rice, onion, fries - meat was tender. Mixed salad with feta: very minty, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber - no feta???? but shaved cheese on top???? and an overload on red onion. Settled bill via credit card 3,300 TL, including bottle of white wine and water.

We had an amazing experience here! Delicious food, the price was totally fair, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was welcome and cozy. Lovely seaside atmosphere. It has cozy indoor and outdoor seating. The seafood is amazing. We tried the shrimp tortellini, çobin salad, fish side dish, and grilled sea bass. All these dishes are highly recommended 👌

This was the only evening we had time for dinner and we sought Google Maps for a restaurant near our hotel. İzmir Sakız Alsancak Restaurant was the choice we did and were happy with our choice. We sat outside despite cold and wind, but they turned the heater on, so it was fine. There were few people in the restaurant, but later more people arrived. We had 5 dishes and 3salads some drinks and a bottle of wine. We enjoyed the dinner, especially the fish that I already missed. The service was fast and they were very polite. However, at the end we had unpleasant situation that spoiled the visit. They gave us the bill for 150USD, but when we decided to pay with card, I gave it to my daughter and she went to pay, they charged us additional 10%... As an Uzbekistan citizen I got used to this stuped way of business as the government by making bad laws makes people break the rule. So when I visit abroad I can relax as people do not try to cheat you this way…Anyway, what happened has happened, The restaurant is good, just pay with cash and you will have no negative emotions )

Damla is a small traditional Turkish meyhane that offers delicious meat and meze dishes. It's a local favorite, known for its cozy atmosphere and great value for the price. The restaurant doesn't have a menu, but the owner can assist with ordering. Customers are served Raki to drink and an assortment of appetizers before choosing their main course. The service is fast and friendly, making it a popular spot for locals to enjoy conversations over tasty food and drinks.
Very nice small Meyhanesi, on a quiet side street. There is no menu, the owner speaks a little English, the server did not. It is customary to order Raki to drink (pour some into you glass then add ice a a splash of water). They bring you a number of appetizers which you can choose from. Then the owner asked me beef, lamb, cheese? I said lamb no cheese. In the end I got my 3 appetizers, toasted bread, raki, salgam (fermented carrot drink), the most delicious and juicy lamb kabobs, and a Turkish coffee to top it off. Total cost was 650tl (about $35 US- the raki was 1/3 of the bill) which is way more than any other meal I’ve had in Turkey, but it was worth it. Split between 2 or more people the prices would be reasonable. The staff were patient with me, I took my time to eat and never felt rushed. Definitely recommend you try it.

Kumrucu Apo is a family-owned eatery located in Izmir's Kemeralti market, serving simple sandwiches and quick bites since 1970. The restaurant is known for its signature dish, the Kumru, a popular morning snack associated with the city of Izmir. This classic "hole in the wall" establishment offers a no-frills environment but is highly recommended for those interested in trying street food.
I loved the sausage and cheese (Sucuk + kaşar). It's super simple and convenient food. The bread is toasted well and overall tastes really nice. It also pairs well with Turkish tea that you could get at the han nearby :-) There's a very small place to set, so I'd recommend taking the sandwiches and eating at a more spacious place.

Visited while I was at the Bazaar There was a queue all waiting to do their order, and there was a reason One of the best sandwiches I've tried: the Kumru 5 different types of sandwiches Highly recommended
Joe D — Google review
A traditional sandwich in the middle of the bazaar and the traditional texture of Izmir, a well-to-do old man and his two children run it, it takes about 5 to 8 minutes for your order to arrive. They have very tasty dooghs and the cheese they put in their sandwiches has a very special taste, there is not much space to sit and you have to sit on the road. In general, I love such shops and my hangout is always here

Izmir kumru😋 This stuff is amazing. It has the best ‘sucuk’(spicy beef). Guess how much this cost? 3$ or 4$ would be a smart guess but no.. Only 1$ can yiu belive this?! I hope this place remains at the same level for many years and everybody get a chance to try this beautiful street food🎖

Delicious local izmir food Kumru by famous uncle Apo. Best one in my opinion is number 4. Very friendly owner. Have to wait like 20 minutes because of queue.

The Kumru sandwiches here were incredibly fresh, both the cheese-only and the cheese with sucuk salami. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure our preferences were met. A great spot for quality food and excellent service.

This is a classic "hole in the wall" kind of place. Don't expect anything fancy or great hygiene BUT... If you are interested in street food then you must try their "kumru". Kumru is actually the kind of bread they use while making this sandwich. It is cooked over a charcoal grill. It has kaşar cheese and sucuk as the main ingredient, which are both grilled, then you can have fresh tomato, sliced pickle and tomato paste. I recommend having all of them, as they definitely add to the taste. They use quality ingredients and it tastes really good.
Utkan C — Google review
Overrated. You have to wait at least 10-15minutes, then there is no space to sit, bread is not soft its not worth to quality.

Since opening its doors in 1970, the restaurant has been setting itself apart with high-quality service and carefully selected fresh ingredients. The menu features a variety of delicious fish options, expertly prepared to perfection. While some find the prices a bit steep, others appreciate the generous portions of well-crafted salads.
My visit here provided a wonderful seabass meal with a perfect environment and excellent service.  Everything here tasted fresh.  If in the area again would definitely come back.

Veli Usta in Kordon is always a name you can rely on — consistently fresh fish, well-prepared appetizers and salads that reflect real care in the kitchen. The senior waiters truly stand out with their experience and attentiveness, clearly more polished than the juniors. Still, overall service is warm and welcoming. With its great location and solid price-performance, it’s definitely worth a visit if you're after a satisfying seafood experience by the sea.

The seafood is okay here and the prices for some items are a little high. However, their salads are exceptionally well built with generous portions. I've been there twice and both times the place was Lively with many other customers all having a good time.

Pretty good seafood restaurant. It was delicious overall, and the service was simply amazing. The only downside is the price, we paid ~100TL per person without alcohol. but overall good dinner. Please note that this is also a Veli Usta restaurant, which is a famous chain in Izmir. We struggled a lot on logistics & visited 2 other Veli Usta restaurants before reaching here.

(Translated by Google) This is the right choice to eat kumru in Kemeraltı. The only problem is that since the dove is small in size, one may not be enough if you are very hungry. I'm normally a small eater, but I wasn't completely full, so I took off one star. Apart from that, I liked that they used Kars kashar and quality sausage. The place is quite small, so there are small tables and stools in front of it. It may not be suitable for those who expect a luxurious place, but it is useful to go there knowing this. I found it cute and perfect for a snack. Prices are also reasonable; A turtle dove costs 100 TL, tea costs 15 TL. Would I go again? Yes, but this time I'll eat two doves. Tekrar gider miyim? Evet, ama bu sefer iki kumru yerim. :)

I don’t speak Turkish, so I pointed to a menu item that cost 190TL. However when I went to pay, the owner tried charging me 490TL !! The owner started yelling and getting angry, and then the waiter realised she wrote down the wrong menu item. She was getting yelled at a lot so I felt bad for the waiter so said I’ll still pay 350 but that’s it. To be honest The gozleme was average anyway. The cheese was only half melted, the spinach was cold and chicken was dry

We got 2 veg gozlemes - one was potato, onion, corn and cheese curd; the other was spinach, parsley, mushroom and cheese. When the order came, each had an ingredient missing (they forgot to add onions or mushrooms). The taste was good although felt a bit dry so we had to order sauces (costing extra 25 TL each). We also ordered Nutella milk which was quite tasty. They have great customization options - you can choose up to 5 ingredients to go into your gozleme. However, pls ask the price before ordering to avoid any confusion as they don’t have the prices listed on the customizable menu.

Çelebi Unlu Mamuller is a renowned bakery in Izmir, known for its delicious dessert called 'Bomba.' This popular treat is a specialty of Izmir cuisine, featuring a luscious liquid chocolate center encased in a delicate dough shell. While Bomba has gained fame across Turkey, Çelebi Unlu Mamuller is considered one of the best places to savor this delectable dessert.
Bomba is an Izmir specialty best enjoyed here. It’s basically a thin pastry with a filling. The chocolate is actually Nutella. The pistachio/tahini is actually just peanut. Not in love with the fillings tbh but glad I tried it here. Expect a crowd.
Jane N — Google review
There was a huge queue when I arrived at Çelebi Unlu Mamuller, which is always a good sign that a place is worth checking out. Since it was packed and I couldn’t find a free table, I decided to grab a mix of their little desserts—chocolate, pistachio, coconut, and caramel—to take away. Just as I was heading out, I lucked upon a vacated table and figured I might as well dine in. The chocolate was absolutely delicious, the pistachio was a bit too sweet for me, caramel was decent, and the coconut—which I’d ordered two of—was okay, but I probably would have been happier with just one. But overall, so yum! Considering the economical pricing, this place is definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

A super popular dessert spot in Turkey! I went around 9:30 p.m. and there was still a long line, so I decided to try it. Ordered the classic chocolate and pistachio bombas—they’re served hot with a crispy outside and tasty filling. I liked the chocolate one more, but both are very sweet, so keep that in mind if you don’t have a big sweet tooth.

Generally delicious if not over filled and messy, I'm not sure so much what the hype is about as it's just Nutella in dough but I appreciate the traditional desert. Service was quick, atmosphere, no seating as it's very busy. Probably wouldn't buy again as it's just to messy to eat.

I tried this perfect chocolate bombs last year. My friend from Izmir brought them again to Serbia. This is amazing!!! So tasty so fluffy. Like a song 😋🤓🥰

I was surprised by the little desserts. I bought chocolate and pistachios to take away, the chocolate was absolutely delicious, pistachio was tooooooo sweet for me! But so yum! Come on, less than one euro you can buy such wonderful little cakes here, you probably will spend 3 euros for just one like this somewhere else, definitely worthy of stopping by!

North Pier is a sophisticated and elegant restaurant located in Konak Pier, the exclusive shopping center in Alsancak. The restaurant offers a unique fine dining experience with signature recipes and chef's table presentation. Its luxurious interiors exude high-end vibes with a predominant white color scheme. Known for its fusion of European and Turkish cuisine, North Pier is especially popular among seafood enthusiasts, offering a delectable selection paired with fine red wines.
I haven't enjoyed a place like this in a long time. A table by the sea, sunset views, delicious food, and my favorite company. I would return to Izmir just for this place. Highly recommended!
Azemina M — Google review
Staff is great although food could have an improvement. It doesn’t match with the price paid and I felt like in Switzerland. The service however, on a very positive note is incredible and they’re very friendly.
Julie S — Google review
Without a doubt this place is a very nice place to chill, connect with people, and soak in the Izmir vibes. Food was just ok. Shrimps on avocado - the avocado was a bit ripe for my liking and lacked in salt. Lamb shank was good. The fried seafood overall was mediocre because frozen seafood were used for the preparation. It's European prices hence the harsher comments. The faultless part was the service - courteous staff despite our language barriers. At the end of the dinner, a generous serving of fruit was offered. 3 stars based on the food we ordered.
C C — Google review
North Pier offers an exquisite dining experience with sophisticated flavors and impeccable presentation. The ambiance is elegant and intimate, perfect for a special night out. Highlights included a perfectly cooked seabass with almond flakes in a citrus sauce and tender gnocchi in a rich red sauce. The mocktail were visually stunning and delicious. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for those seeking a refined culinary experience. Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)

The food was just ok (also served cold), nothing special for the money you pay. Tip is basically mandatory (10%) and there is also a cover per person (60 try). Quite expensive for Izmir. Conclusion: overrated.

Amazing taste! Amazing people of high value. All workes better than the other ones to support you in your wishes. Special orders, which are out of Menu's, are not a problem. Kumrucu Omur is a cafe in which you can enjoy good food and a great view. The place is clean and the service is good, making it a popular choice for visitors to Izmir. The sandwiches here are especially delicious, and come with all the necessary condiments so you can make your own.
Eat, Drink, and Play Great atmosphere Great service Hospitality of the owner is incredible They made the customized drink (mix of Ice cream and carrot juice 🤩)
Azadeh Z — Google review
Today we went to this kumru place in Izmir and placed our orders. Unfortunately, our experience was quite bad. The waiter was unhappy, the kitchen staff were unhappy. Our orders kept coming wrong one after another. The ones we asked for without tomatoes came with tomatoes. We asked for a baked potato with butter, but it came without butter. We called the manager to complain, but they didn’t believe us. I really don’t understand this kind of business mentality. In the end, we left the place without eating our orders. What a shame. I don’t know what kind of understanding of customer satisfaction this is. I definitely do not recommend it.

Foreign credit or bank cards dont work, you will have to pay cash if you dont own a Turkish credit card. Staff were not necessarily mean but they are definitely not nice either. They were sulking every time I visited here, so its definitely not that they were all having a bad day. Prices are higher compared to the other places around. Food tastes alright, but even a toast takes a long while to be ready.

Meşhur Hisarönü Şambalicisi 1942'den Beri is a renowned establishment located behind the Hisar Mosque, offering traditional desserts and sweet treats with a focus on the famous Izmir street dessert, sambali. This unique dessert has its origins in Izmir's diverse cultural influences and is made from almond-studded semolina, yogurt, and sugar, soaked in sweet syrup.
I had the pleasure of visiting Meşhur Hisarönü Şambalicisi, and it was an unforgettable experience! The şambali here is absolutely amazing – perfectly balanced in sweetness and with a delightful texture that melts in your mouth. The flavors are authentic and truly a treat for the taste buds. The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you're in Izmir and love traditional desserts, this is a must-visit spot. Highly recommended!

Good for a quick snack. If you have never tried it, get one per person with kaymak. Don’t forget the tea.
Atakan ( — Google review
We were really happy with the quirky server that was really accommodating and the sweet that was ok in the beginning, but then came the bill. We paid 19€ (680TL) for 2 desserts, and we have gone to Michelin star restaurants and have paid less, and their card machine was "broken" and my bf got lost in the agora to find a working ATM. Ultimately, it was really expensive, not that great, and only accepts cash because it scams people. Be careful if you are a foreigner, just do not go there.
Anthi C — Google review
One of the most famous desserts originating from Izmir. Meshur Hisaronu Sambalicisi is serving since decades in this location and it’s an awesome place if you’re up for some sweets and tea. You should try the Sambali with extra cream (kaymak)!

First time i tried this sweet. Highly recommended. Really delicious, soft in the middle but crunchy outside. Sweet and with a bit of a nutty flavor. On top, kaymak! Price is allright too, 5TL not bad.

İzmir’s famous street dessert Şambali ”Shumbalee”. Made of semolina, peanuts and syrup. Not too sweet crunchy outside, soft inside good slider after having your lunch next door Söğüsçü. I was born and raised in Izmir. I had this dessert many times before, yet this one is the best. I highly recommend you to try it just like in the video. With cream and cinnamon.
Seckin D — Google review
"samba", is a super delicious small dessert, their specialty. Not too syrupy (like some baklava), not fibrous (like baklava), denser than cake (a small finger-size piece is just right size), very tasty. Especially with cream filling (or 'extra cream' if you ask). Seems the only thing they do here and do-it-well they certainly do. Most folks come in large parties, and all order same thing, the sambali with a top of ice cream. Good fun. And...it's not too expensive (90TL for 2 coffee, 2 tea and 2 cakes) relative to other 'fine' dessert shops in town (e.g., Sevinc, Leone) where leaving <150TL is tough to do. There's also some history to the place, the original 1942'ish shop is still standing there (deserted). Seems they also serve the little dessert around the Kemeralti market, whole trays of the little cakes flying out. Seating only outdoor, store front, under shade, lots of activity, drum bands going by etc, usual market chaos and energy. Great place to enjoy a special little treat and a coffee. Seating is not very comfortable, crude wooden tables and benches, made for short people with no legs, but it's ok... Indeed many folks buy the little cakes and keep going (although eating and walking is not usually a Turkish/European behavior). Service fast and friendly, in english even. Selection is slim but that's the point: go there for the sambali, that's all they do.

Breakfast restaurant
Zeynel Ergin Gevrek Fırını, also known as simit, is a renowned bakery in Izmir, Turkey. Unlike the simit of Istanbul, their pastry is cooked for an extended period to achieve a crispier texture and is generously coated with sesame seeds. This beloved breakfast item is often enjoyed with cheese, olives, and tea in the pleasant Izmir climate.
Lovely authentic bakery with the freshly baked gevrek. Try the chocolate, mushroom, yoghurt cheese, spinach pastries - all of which are good! Have them with Turkish tea and life is perfect :) parking is a bit tricky, better to come on foot.
Christina K — Google review
I tried two Boyoz (one plain and one with spinach filling), and something like a croissant filled with chocolate. The Boyoz were reaaaaally nice and the spinach tastes so fresh, if u are a chocolate lover the croissants are also very full filling (literally). Also the nice weather and the chill atmosphere outside added to the overall good experience:)
Finja K — Google review
While visiting from Australia, we popped into this bakery on our 2 last days in Izmir. Each time, we tried different flavoured Boyoz - all of which were tasty! My highlight was the chocolate filled croissant-type pastry which was so full of chocolate and absolutely delicious.

I love this place. The food tastes amazing, the service is decently fast. This is easily the best söğüs restaurant in Izmir.
Jakaranda I — Google review
Amazing sogus experience. I believe it is the best place in Izmir to grab a local taste. The owner boils the lamb heads for three to four hours, lets them cool and slices them thinly for the perfect tongue-cheek-brain trio in your mouth! It is a bit pricey depending on how much brain you want in your wrap, but it is definitely worth it. If you want extra brain to make your wrap more creamy and luscious, and drink an "ayran", it will cost you 25 TRY.

Esnaf Lokantası Mahmut Usta is a renowned traditional Turkish restaurant located in Kemeralti. Despite being slightly hidden behind the Hisar mosque, it is well-regarded for its delicious and authentic local cuisine. The founder, Mahmut Usta, honed his culinary skills for 15 years before opening this establishment to continue sharing his delectable dishes with patrons.
I am writing in English to help tourists better relate (I am aware of translation technology). This restaurant is a perfect location where you can taste traditional Turkish dishes. I, as a local, crave the foods of this restaurant frequently. First of all, "Kale Pepper with Yoghurt" is to die for. It's not spicy, the pepper is crunchy, and the yoghurt is delicious. You can try all other dishes based on whatever you are craving at the time. It will pleasure your taste buds.
Tarkan Y — Google review
Found this on google as a traditional Turkish restaurant. It’s in the heart of the market in amongst the cafe area. It’s clean, cool and comfy to have a meal in. There is a big counter with all the dishes they have on offer that day. Lots to choose from. I asked for a few dishes so I could try a variety of things. They usually serve the dishes in small plates but mine was served on one plate. They gave you complimentary bread, chili (which aren’t that hot, but I do eat a lot of spice) & water. For my dishes I got a lamb stew special, which was braised in its own juices with herbs, another lamb dish in a tomato based sauce, pearl barley side, a pepper stuffed with rice and a yoghurt dip with fried chilis. They were delicious and tasted very home made & comforting. I also got a cow hooves soup which was so rich and gelatinous. It was definitely my favorite dish that I got. It was quite rich especially as with the soup so the lemon really helped cut through the fat of the meat. A Turkish tea or coffee after is a must to cleanse the palette. It’s a family run business and they speak English well. Very friendly and welcoming. I was surprised at how expensive it was though as it cost me roughly $30 AUD/ €18. Worth a visit if you want some traditional Turkish food, possibly find it cheaper elsewhere.
Denise L — Google review
Unfortunately, this restaurant is not transparent with their pricing and as other comments have explained, the meal ends up being quite expensive in comparison to other options in the area. The food is good, but sadly you leave with a feeling of being taken advantage of.

Remember to double-check your change carefully. My order was 285 Lira; I gave 400 Lira (two 200 Lira notes) and got 15 Lira back. The 100 Lira was missing. I didn't notice the change from the waiter. It left a bad impression.

If you find yourself in Izmir and dreaming of a table filled with delicious mezes and fresh seasonal fish accompanied by the sea breeze, Balıkçı Hasan is a top choice. The rich menu offers colorful salads, an array of delightful mezes, and perfectly cooked seasonal fish. With years of experience and skilled chefs, Balıkçı Hasan turns dining into an event. From their signature Grilled Sea Bass to the flavorful Seafood Paella, there's something for every seafood lover.
Located on the Kordon in Konak, this very popular place offers a great view of the sea. The outdoor patio can be enclosed and the restaurant also offers a room upstairs. I have been there three times already and have yet to be disappointed. The fish is extremely fresh and the mezze dishes are wonderful. They also have a good wine selection.

The food tastes okay. However, I only ordered beer from a middle-aged male employee, but he later brought me a large bottle of water, opened it without asking, and poured it into my cup. This is a bad method often used against foreign tourists. Please order carefully and carefully.
Headkick — Google review
We went there for a dinner, after not being served in another restaurant. We were lucky to get a table at late night, but in the end, it is almost same with other restaurant in the same area. We choose 2 fish and salads and starters, they were well-cooked and service were good, though they forget part of our order and it didn’t come. The whole place was clean as well. However, for two people we paid 840 TRY for a quick dinner, which is I think overpriced even in Kordon prices. Don’t know if all the restaurants in the area are this price level or not, but I think for two fish (Cernekop for 300+ lira, lufer for 100+ lira) and drinks and salad paying 80 EUR is overpriced. There was no price list to check the prices either. So, if you don’t want to have bad surprises, check the prices before you order.

We strolled around Kordon and were looking for a place to have dinner. We stopped by Balikci Hasan because of the lovely looking interieur and the staff acting professional and friendly, not too pushy like other restaurants. We‘ve got a table inside and directly were guided to the display of fresh fishes. They have a very good selection of fresh fishes. We took some Red Snapper and some smaller fishes. Also you chose from a big selection of mezze your starters and side dishes. The food came really fast, all the waiters were always very friendly and asking if we need anything else. The fish was prepared directly at our table. We even got a smal dessert offered, which was also very delicious! Would totally recommend this place!

Ayşa Boşnak Börekçisi ve Ev Yemekleri is a charming eatery located in the heart of Izmir, offering a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant stands out among the fine dining establishments in the area with its rich buffet featuring Bosnian and Ottoman flavors. Situated in a side alley of Kemeraltı bazaar, Ayşa Boşnak offers indoor and outdoor seating options.
Located in a side alley of the keneralti bazaar, the Aysa bosnak is an interesting experience. The seating is simple, but pleasant in the buzzing atmosphere. The service is typically Turkish: very friendly and very chaotic ;). There is an anti-pasti-buffet, each plate is paid for by weight. I enjoyed this part a lot. The main dishes were pre-prepared and were heated with a microwave. While unorthodox, I don’t mind it. However: As tasty as my gulash (?) was, I would have preferred if it was fully heated. I still rate 5 stars, because i have rarely seen such a good value for my money.

Very nice place, you can take your own food and the scale is zeroed to cancel out the plate. The food tastes great and not too expensive (700tl/kg if you're strategic you can get a good amount of food). The atmosphere in the store is great, and there's an air conditioned room upstairs.

We went to Ayşa for dinner and it was a great experience! There are plenty of options and you can choose exactly what and how much you want. Since the dishes are served in small portions, everything stays fresh. Even though it was quite crowded, it took us less than 10 minutes to prepare our plates and sit at the table. The flavors are inspired by the Aegean region and every dish was delicious. Prices are very fair for the quality and service you get. The staff were all friendly, and the place was perfectly clean. I have eaten here many times and the food has always been superb. The family of the owners came from northern Montenegro decades ago but have held on to some of the recipes they brought with them. Many of the dishes they serve are vegetable based, so vegans and vegetarians might be happy. All of the dishes I've seen were beautifully presented and all I've tasted were utterly delicious. I think anyone would be satisfied. The clean stone walls of the restaurant give it a really warm and rustic feel.

I had high expectations since this is my favorite type of food, but I received a pastrami sandwich that had 1 very thin slice of meat that you could not even taste. Service was average, prices were good, but the sandwich was terrible. There are many good restaurants in the area, all that I’ve tried were much better than here.

Pizza Locale 414 Park is a popular franchise known for its delicious thin-crust pizzas with crispy edges. The menu offers a variety of toppings, including local favorites like "quatro fogmaggi" and the signature "Tire Pepperoni" with spicy olive oil. The pizzas come in three different sizes to accommodate all appetites. While the pizza is highly recommended, some find the dessert options with Nutella to be underwhelming.

Nestled in the charming back streets of Kemeralti Bazaar, Kadıoğlu Kebap Evi is a hidden gem for lovers of Turkish cuisine. This delightful restaurant specializes in an impressive selection of kebabs, featuring succulent lamb, chicken, and beef that are expertly seasoned with traditional spices. Guests can savor these mouthwatering dishes served on plates alongside fragrant rice, fresh salads, and warm bread or wrapped in pita for a quick bite.
Really good food, I recommend the Adana Kebab and Adana Wrap. The Tavuk Wrap is also good, but less. The owners are incredibly friendly. We speak only a bit of Turkish and they were still very accommodating. It's hidden away in a side street next to the bustling Bazaar and makes a great getaway from the crowds of people.

(Translated by Google) A shop hidden in the back streets of Kemeraltı bazaar. If you search and find it or come across it by chance, you can eat perhaps the most delicious chicken in Izmir. We tried chicken wings and boneless chicken. The skin is crispy, the meat is tender and juicy. It had a wonderful taste. The salads that accompany the meal are diverse and fresh. The service was extremely friendly. Very successful tradesmen. The food was served in a very short time. Since it is a side street, it is a quiet area away from the crowd outside. We ate at shabby tables and chairs. Be sure to feed the cats that visit you. The price is quite reasonable, we paid 200 TL for the portion. If you buy it and try to prepare it at home, it will cost much more. If you are a chicken lover, be sure to find Kadıoğlu in Kemerlı. If you're in İzmir and craving a slice of international flavor, look no further than Domino's Pizza İzmir Sevgiyolu. This popular delivery and carryout chain offers an extensive menu featuring not just pizzas but also a variety of delectable sides. The unique twist here is the incorporation of Turkish seasonings into their dishes, making for a delightful fusion experience. You can indulge in options like the medium Callypso pizza topped with tuna or enjoy their tasty chicken tenders alongside crispy French fries.
If you miss international taste instead of local taste, Domino’s is a better option, since McDonalds and Burger King are more expensive. I ordered a medium Callypso (Tuna, 9”) pizza, and one of their snack plates. Their pizza comes with Turkish seasoning and taste quite good. Their chicken tender and French fries are good. Things are different here: their sauce comes with a charge, 5 TL for ketchup or mayonnaise. Most people in Izmir don’t speak English, and their menu has only Turkish. If you are an international traveler, I recommend you use google translate to translate their menu, their menu has pictures, it’s not too hard for ordering.
Paelin — Google review
So, I checked out Domino’s Pizza in Izmir, Turkey, and I gotta say, it’s a decent chain. I ordered some fries, and when they were ready, I asked for ketchup. I was pretty surprised when the cashier wanted to charge me 5 TL for it. I mean, 5 TL isn’t a big deal, but it just feels off to charge extra for something like that. You definitely wouldn’t see that happening at Domino’s in the US, Canada, or Europe!
Reza M — Google review
The owner/manager couldn't care less, what an absolute rubbish place, do not waste your time or money! The poor girls working in the place ,I feel for them. Honestly don't waste your time or money!
Bryan L — Google review
The food was regular domino's pizza so how good that is is not very debatable. But the kids like it so.... Anyway, I wanted them to make half cheese half sucuk XL pizza. The system automatically adds an extra 100TL for that change. When I pointed this out, the lady at the cashiers said, that she understands that it is not fair and she manually adjusted the order to make it come down to the regular price. I was appreciative of that adjustment. Thank you. Kids loved the pizza.

We had a worst experince for this Domino's. We came izmir for izmir international fair and since we do not have much option for the vegetarian we prefer Domino's veggie pizza. We went to Domino's around 9:30 and ordered the pizza. We we're waiting for the pizza outside in a chair. They did not call our name once the pizza was ready. We inquired about the status of our order and they have given the pizza which they have already prepared 20 min back . Pizza was cold so we refused to take it and told them to make new pizza. We got the new pizza and they did not put the proper toppings. One of the worst experince with dominos.

The food was delicious. We tried pide with minced meat and lahmacun. It was great. But the service was awful. We were unpleasantly surprised when the waiter basically forced us to give him a tip when we paid the bill. It made us really uncomfortable. I visited Doğaner Pide Restaurant in Izmir. Overall, the food was somewhat good, but I had an issue with the grilled meat pieces. They had an odd, slightly sour taste, which made me question their freshness—maybe they weren’t very fresh, I’m not sure 🤷‍♂️. The rest of the dishes were okay, but this particular issue affected my overall experience at the restaurant.

The food was actually great. We had 2 margharita pizzas and one al pastrami. The thing that spoiled the whole experience, however, was the staff. As a customer I want to be able to eat in peace without a whole bunch of cigarette smoke around me. The staff sat right next to us and started smoking non-stop (2 of them). Customers appreciate the appetizers and find the salads to be decent. The restaurant has an agreement with Yemek Sepeti, offering delicious teas. While some have had issues with takeout orders, others have enjoyed a variety of tasty treats brought to their table. Overall, Alican is considered a nice restaurant with good meals.

Minko L — Google review
We ordered two burgers, one mexi and one cheese. The burgers came out and after the first bite I didn't particularly like it (it's reminiscent of an English BBQ where things are poorly cooked). The insides were raw (see the photo attached) so we asked what -cut- of beef they were using (so we knew it was safe to eat)... They just said they're using calf... So we asked again and they said calf, so we asked again for the -cut- they were using and they went away, asked the chef and never came back to answer. The chips were just as bad. Two uneaten burgers later, they gave us the bill when asked and told us bon appetit.
