Staff men were disrespectful to us as soon as we entered the club. They lied to us 2 times in row. First of all because the 2 tables that they promised to us: we only got to stay at 1. Second of all, they promised to give us the bottles when we would leave the club: they punched one of my friends when he tried to go out with the bottle. It turned out to be one of the most overpriced dining experiences we’ve ever had. The most concerning issue was that my friend was served fish that was completely undercooked. When we brought this to the staff's attention, they simply took the same piece back to the kitchen and re-cooked it, which was unacceptable for a high-end establishment.
After the second attempt, the fish was still not properly cooked, and when we expressed our disappointment again, the management offered no resolution, not even a discount.
The overall presentation of the dishes was very basic, lacking any visual appeal. Additionally, the staff was rude and inattentive; we had to pour wine from the bottle ourselves all the time and they struggled to answer our questions or make recommendations.
In the end, we were left with a hefty bill and a spoiled evening. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.
Very nice restaurant in a great location. The menu had lots of nice dishes on it and a very large selection of seafood with a choice of how you want things to be prepared. Very attentive and friendly staff. Good selection of wine and champagne. We ordered oysters, octopus, spider crab, sea snails and apple pie. Everything tasted amazing and food was presented very nicely with attention to detail. One of my favourite restaurants, will definitely return.
Really disappointing and horrible fish. We came for a Birthday lunch and chose the menu. The main course was monkfish and was awful served on a big bone with hardly any fish on it, greasy potatoes and no vegetables. So upsetting as we all chose the same, and they charged a supplement of 3 euros for each one. I complained and they made no gesture to improve our experience. A lovely location but a complete rip off! Eat tapas in the town, its a better experience with more love.

My elderly grandmother, who has limited mobility, simply wanted to sit and pray quietly — in a corner inside the restaurant where no one else was around. We didn’t just assume it was okay — we asked respectfully, thinking that such a peaceful, personal act wouldn’t be an issue.
To our shock, we were told that her silent prayer would “make people uncomfortable.” That statement was not only unreasonable — it was deeply offensive. How can someone praying in silence, in a completely empty space, be considered disruptive or disrespectful?
We were also met with judgmental looks, and the staff member who spoke to us used a condescending, dismissive tone — as if we weren’t welcome there. The entire interaction felt racist and discriminatory, targeting us not for our behavior, but for who we were and what we represented.
No one should be treated like this — especially not someone elderly and respectful, simply practicing their beliefs in peace. This experience left us hurt, disrespected, and completely unwelcome. I won’t be returning, and I encourage others to think carefully about supporting a business that tolerates this kind of behavior.

Altamar is a Mediterranean restaurant with an unbeatable location. The service is attentive and efficient, exceeding expectations with its excellent value for money. The starters are well-prepared, going above average in quality. The paella is more than satisfactory, and the desserts are delicious. My family’s favourite restaurant in Costa Brava! The Catalonian cuisine is top quality with fresh seafood, meats, and other ingredients. The space is well maintained and with the best views of Palamos Marina and the Mediterranean.
The staff are SUPER! They are hospitable, welcoming, attentive, and absolutely know their menu - AND they make you feel like you’re having a meal with good friends.
When you’re in Palamos or Girona in general, this restaurant’s food, ambiance, and service are worth the trip!

Accompanied with wild rice and fried plantain it was OK, but not at all memorable. The postre of velvet cake was as dry as cardboard and inedible. Sad, because a new restaurant in Palamos, given the many closures due to the pandemic, is to be applauded. Worth the visit for that reason. But I shan’t return. 38 Euros won’t break the bank, but it would have been better spent elsewhere. Go for the Belgian beer. Then eat elsewhere.

The music was the best I’ve heard in Platja d’aro and although my friends and I were the youngest there (we’re in our mid 20s) we had a great time. There’s AC which is amazing in the summer. Great place if you don’t want to be overcrowded, there wasn’t much people until around 2:30 and then it started to fill up and have more people dancing. Great night overall!

As the only person of color in the crowded bar, I felt out of place from the start. Despite the standing-room-only situation, I was singled out by the wait staff, particularly by an older, shorter gentleman who rudely demanded I order something immediately or leave. When I explained I wanted to wait for a table to enjoy a meal before drinking, I was met with hostility and pressure to purchase on the spot. It was clear I was being treated differently because of my race.
Feeling unwelcome and disrespected, I ordered a drink then decided to leave as the fellow was making it. I stepped outside and confronted the waiter about his discriminatory behavior before exiting the premises.
Despite this disappointing experience, my overall trip to Spain has been wonderful, with warm hospitality and delicious food at other establishments. I cannot recommend Cactus Cafe to fellow travelers, especially those who value inclusivity and respect.
Instead, consider patronizing Pura Vida down the block. They provided excellent hospitality and exceptional food, making my experience there truly enjoyable.
This has been our go-to bar for years now. On our last visit however, we were seated inside and there was very clear drug taking going on. We had two small children with us questioning. The servers seemed to know the 'offenders' very well and gave them preferential treatment. Never again

The beer was great and they offered perfect recommendations. We tried almost everything on the menu. All the food is fresh. The chips are made there from the tortillas and always come out warm and crispy. The wings are perfectly cooked and crispy, I recommend using lime with the Korean wings. The carnitas and burgers are a must try!
Make sure to ask for a slice of cheesecake at the end of your meal. Erik makes them from scratch and they were the most delicious cheesecakes I have had.
