Gastropub
American restaurant
The Black Birch is an American gastropub located in Kittery, Maine. It offers a farm-to-fork menu with small plates and shares, along with a variety of beers on tap. Situated in the Wallingford Square neighborhood, this cozy restaurant has been drawing crowds for over a decade. The space may be limited, so making a reservation is recommended.
Did I basically drive from New Jersey for deviled eggs at The Black Birch? Sure did. I’ve loved this gem of a restaurant since I lived in Boston 10 years ago. It’s consistently fantastic - great cocktails, great entrees. Don’t skip the deviled eggs, they are the best.

My wife and I live in Connecticut and we were where traveling with my cousin and friend from Boston. We were passing thru and were very hungry so we stopped here on a whim. We usually research stops online as reviews are there to take advantage of but did not this time. Pretty ordinary look from the street but I am happy we looked beyond this. FANTASTIC FRESH QUALITY FOOD PREPARED TO PERFECTION. We are all in our 70's and this is one of the best meals at a restaurant we all have ever had... this review coming from folks that have been to many top eateries all over the world. And the cost was very reasonable. We loved it, have a great summer!
Kevin K — Google review
Hands down our absolute favorite restaurant in Kittery. The food is consistently outstanding and changes enough to keep us locals happy. The staff is attentive and fun. Very cozy and nice vibe for dates, solo, girls nights or a small group. Wine list is all natural and a great variety. Some of the best cocktails in the seacoast. This is a GEM of a place and we are so lucky to have it !
Donna A — Google review
No reservations but worth the wait! Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and everything we ordered was just that. The cocktail menu was inventive, the draft list was extensive and had a little bit of everything. We sat at the bar and had a great bartender. The atmosphere is cozy with soft light and a wide range of fun music played from vinyl. If you get the chance, I highly recommend going.
Charlie G — Google review
One of the greatest places I have ever dined at. Literally timed the northbound trip around it's opening time.
Monty — Google review
Absolutely amazing food. One of the best fish and chips we've had in all our years in America. We tend to order it whenever it is on the menu because we enjoyed it often living in New Zealand. The batter is crispy and thin and the cod is soft. The mussels were very good as well,, nice size and plump and cooked to perfection (mussels are also another food we are snobs about coming from New Zealand). We also had the strip steak which had these amazing radishes. The portions were just right and the price is very reasonable and the wait staff is very attentive and helpful with the beer recommendations. We will come back here the next time we come up to Maine!
Claire L — Google review
Popped in for an early dinner while on vaca in Portsmouth. Bumped into a gentleman in the morning who recommended it. It turned out to be spot on…. Service from Anthony was great, bartender was helpful in choosing a beer and the food was sublime… Deviled eggs (a must try) recommended by Shannon over at Meat. Blistered Shishito Peppers w/ a Wasabi kewpie (outstanding) Short Ribs w/ Collards (outstanding) Pork belly in a spicy teriyaki sauce w/baby bok Choy (yup , outstanding) Fresh Fettuccine w/ sausage, cherry tomatoes (outstanding) One of the best meals start to finish we have had in a long time, superb in all aspects…. Bravo to the entire team, and thank you to everyone of y’all.
Jack D — Google review
Fresh, fun and fabulous. They execute excellence. The music pairs perfectly with the atmosphere. Get the daily deviled eggs and pickles. Try a new beverage and be prepared for your meal to knock your socks off.

Asian restaurant
Restaurant
Anju Noodle Bar is a trendy and contemporary kitchen located in the center of Kittery Foreside. The restaurant offers innovative Asian-style dishes such as roasted eggplant, duck yakisoba, and umami-packed Shoyu Ramen. The bright and airy noodle bar sources local ingredients and cherry-picks flavors from various cuisines to create a unique dining experience.
Stopped for impromptu lunch. Boy, am I glad I did. Outstanding! Everything about it. Though they were busy service was awesome. I sat at the bar and could see the chefs cooking (open kitchen). Fun experience. You know they’re not hiding anything. Food was fresh and super tasty. Good size portions. I was full. I actually order a pork bun to go not knowing how I was going to finish it. Safe to say, it didn’t stand a chance. I’m already thinking of how I can make it to Kittery area for another go at it. I highly recommend Anju.
Marc C — Google review
Perfect as always. Anju knows flavor, that is for sure. We got the tuna & watermelon salad, the Vietnamese crepe, chicken khao poon ramen, and the matcha cheesecake and everything was incredible. The crepe was by far the best, honestly insane.
Sage C — Google review
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! This place is the cutest and has amazing food! As a vegetarian their options were all so flavorful and unique! Their veggie ramen was bursting with flavor which is commendable. Their cauliflower and yakisoba with tofu were also quite tasty! For dessert we got the matcha crepe cake and like the other items it was also scrumptious! Their staff were extremely welcoming and kind! Overall I would highly recommend!
RoniDesh — Google review
We really wanted to enjoy this place, but our visit was a bit disappointing. My friend ordered a ramen that turned out to be 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲 — even after asking for hot water to dilute it, it was still difficult to eat. What surprised us more was that no one checked in to see how the food was, and there was no offer to replace the dish. The staff seemed more focused on chatting than on the customers, which left us feeling a little overlooked. I think with more attention to customer service and a willingness to adjust when something isn’t right, this restaurant could provide a much better dining experience.
Irish H — Google review
I stopped by on a quiet weekday afternoon between errands for a late lunch and was seated quickly. The shio ramen was so flavorful - I loved the spicy seasoning that was on top, it added the perfect amount of heat. As an after thought, I also tried the matcha cheesecake, but it was a lil crumbly and light in matcha flavor - I really had to search for the flavor. I hope this was a fluke but next time I'll forgo dessert and grab a cruller at Lil's next door.
Diana L — Google review
Passing through Kittery and found this place on Google. Ahh-mazing. We visited at 5pm on a Sunday. There were 3-4 tables open but it was still bustling inside. Service was fast and food took maybe ten minutes, if that. I ordered the Khao Poon and it was the most creamy delicious broth with the perfect amount of chili oil. The chicken was falling apart, perfectly cooked for soup. Highly recommend and if it wasn’t 2 hours for us, I’d be back often.
Thressa J — Google review
A local favorite! NEVER a bad meal. We love the food, so fresh, clean and filling. GF friendly. If it’s not GF you can ask if they can change noodles. We love the vibe. Lunch is our favorite time of day to hit the hot noodles. The canned cocktails are Yummy. The Dame Shrub is the best. We ware so luck to have this so close to home. And of course the STAFF is amazing, friendly and all and all sensational ❤️
Kris H — Google review
We ate here TWICE this past weekend! It’s that good! Best ramen I’ve ever had and the atmosphere is cozy and fun with the open kitchen concept! We had a toddler with us and they were very accommodating and the high chairs were nice and clean ( not the case at most restaurants) They were also accommodating with special requests or changes to menu items! Overall 10/10 and we’ll definitely be back soon 🤩

Nestled in the lively Kittery Outlets area, Robert's Maine Grill is a modern take on the classic Maine seafood eatery. With a focus on locally-sourced ingredients and craft beer, this restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring not only seafood but also options like chicken, pulled pork, salads, and burgers. The bright and soothing seaside aesthetic provides a comfortable dining experience with picturesque views of Spruce Creek.
First time here. Got reservations for early dinner on Saturday. At 445pm there was plenty of seats available. Had the oysters and calamari for appetizers and they were delicious. For mains we got NY strip and Ribeye med rare with garlic herb butter. They were cooked to perfection. Added a crab cake and the breading and flavor were terrific and even had a small kick at the end. The Mac and cheese was worth fighting over. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. Quick trip from NH
Matt F — Google review
Roberts is one of my must-visit spots whenever I’m in the area. I’ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The view from the upper level is amazing, especially on a nice day. Some of my favorites are the raw oysters, lobster roll, lobster mac & cheese, and the fish & chips — all consistently delicious. It’s definitely worth the wait if there’s a crowd. The vibe is always great, relaxed and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Gina L — Google review
The maine fried cheese were really good starters if you like cheese curds. The accompanying sauce was slightly acidic to balance the richness of the cheese. We had the whole steamed lobster which was good and grilled scallops as our mains. The grilled scallops were rich and decadent in the corn cream sauce while the lobster was luscious especially dipped in butter.
G S — Google review
Delicious oysters, our favorite were the unicorn variety- they had a great selection to choose from. The lobster roll was delicious! Fresh lobster, nice soft bread! The clam chowder was divine! We ordered one bowl to share and then ordered a second bowl to each have our own. It was seasoned so perfectly. The waitress was so friendly, and very helpful in her recommendations. We had a delicious drink called Apple crush- so delicious and smooth! Great experience here, lovely New England atmosphere.
Shannon T — Google review
This place was absolutely amazing. I got the daily special haddock rueben and everything on it just worked. Definitely my favorite rueben I've ever had. The fried clams were also really good, and I'm told the lobster roll was delicious as well. I definitely recommend getting the Maine cheese curds as an appetizer, you won't be disappointed. Past the food itself, the service itself was also extremely good and the restaurant had an really nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend trying this stop if you're in the area.
Dom — Google review
Absolutely exceeded our expectations! I can recommend this place without any hesitation. Really great food. The kitchen made a dairy adjustment without any problems. Service by "Carter" was excellent. We left it to him to pick out our oysters and we're not disappointed. I look forward to eating here again.
Snowshoe D — Google review
I did a little online digging for restaurants in Kittery with the highest reviews and I came across Roberts. I made a reservation for 630 because being Saturday night I assumed it would be busy. Thank God I did because after checking in to our table the poor lady behind me was told that it would be an hour and a half wait! Yikes! Before I get to the good stuff I will say that the ONLY negative thing about this place was the waiting. Once seated, it was 10 minutes before we had drinks, 30 minutes for the appetizer and an hour for our dinners. The waitress was very nice, but there was only so much that she could do. The kitchen was clearly backed up. Now that that's out of the way, EVERYTHING was worth the wait. The kids had pasta and a cheeseburger, my wife had the lobster risotto, and I ordered the ceviche and the stuffed lobster. After the first bites, the long wait time faded away and we were glad that we stuck it out. The raw bar was very impressive, the atmosphere was great and the food was awesome. 2 stars for the service is only because of the long wait times.
Adam T — Google review
Great portion size Great flavor We had the Clams Linguine, Crab Cakes, New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Mac n Cheese, and Grilled Scallops. Service was good in the beginning and then not so great. Parking was not so easy.

Restaurant
Bob's Clam Hut is a long-standing eatery that has been serving up coastal Maine comfort food since 1986. Located in the downtown area known as Kittery Foreside, this popular spot has become a focal point for the community's culinary scene. The restaurant is renowned for its fried clams and prides itself on using sustainable fish in its menu offerings.
Bob’s is located conveniently off 95 and is a great spot to visit if you’re in Kittery or heading north. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Seats are first come, first served, but they are plentiful. Parking can be a challenge, but there is a big lot next door that’s a short walk. We got cold lobster rolls. They come with fried pickles. The fries are great with their homemade tartar sauce. Honestly, I’d buy just the pickles if I could. They are the right amount of tart and garlicky. The cold lobster rolls are top 3. And I’ve had a lot of lobster rolls! A big serving of meat, rightly dressed, and perfectly cooked. The buns are buttery and toasted. Yum! Pro tip: they have online ordering. Save yourself from waiting in the LONG line.
Joseph F — Google review
While visiting from New Hampshire and doing a quick stopover at the outlets, I stumbled upon this spot, a cute, unassuming spot that turned out to be a great find for fresh seafood. A friend and I decided to give it a try. We ordered the Maine Lobster Roll and the Cajun Fish Basket. The lobster roll was absolutely delicious—loaded with fresh, sweet lobster meat and served just right. It definitely lived up to the Maine seafood reputation! The Cajun fried fish in tBasket was also cooked well—crispy, not greasy, and very fresh. While it didn’t have much of the Cajun flavor we expected, it was still a solid, tasty dish. There wasn’t a long wait when we went, but if you’re planning to dine in, it’s a good idea to grab a table, especially during busy times. The service was smooth, and the atmosphere had a laid-back coastal charm. Overall, good choice if you’re craving fresh seafood in the area. Worth the stop!
Nikki H — Google review
Let me start off by saying that I’ve had MANY of lobster/lobster rolls all around the world. I did a New England trip last week so obviously I was trying all the places. I got a buttered lobster roll with a side of fried pickles. Pickles were done very well…service was prompt. But the lobster that was in this roll was the best I’ve ever tasted in my life so far. I’ve never tasted anything like it..it was so sweet it basically melts in your mouth. My husband tasted it first and said “Oh! Oh wow…thats like a dessert.” Anyway…none of the “go to spots” along the way up past Portland are anything close to this. 👏👏👏👏

Absolutely Worth the Hype!
Visited Bob’s Clam Hut in Kittery, Maine and it blew my expectations out of the water. I ordered the buttered lobster rolland the Bob & Betty special with scallops and shrimp — and let me tell you, this was hands-down the freshest seafoodI’ve ever had. The scallops were a standout — crispy, perfectly fried, and not greasy at all. Zero oil pooling at the bottom, just clean, flavorful bites of the ocean. The shrimp was equally delicious and the portion size was super satisfying. The lobster rollwas buttery, sweet, and packed full — everything you want in a Maine classic. Yes, the line was long, but totally worth the wait. Even with the crowds, they had enough seating for everyone, and the casual, coastal vibe made the experience even better. You can tell this is the go-to spot for fresh, no-frills New England seafood. If you’re anywhere near Kittery, this place is a must-visit. #BobsClamHut #YorkMaineEats #SeafoodLovers #LobsterRoll #Scallops #ShrimpPlate #MaineSeafood #FoodieFinds #NewEnglandEats #5StarBite #WorthTheWait #SeafoodHeaven #TravelEats #ClamHutClassic

Being next to the Kittery Trading Post, Bob’s definitely gets busy - be prepared to edit in line, and have your food take 30-45 minutes to come out. Is what it is in the summertime. With this in mind though, it’s run pretty well. Everything was excellent when it came out. We had lobster rolls and clam chowder.
Chad K — Google review
Delish. We ordered a lobster roll $33 market price, kids chicken tenders and the lobster stew. Everything was well seasoned and yummy. Our family of 3 was happy. Well met, Bob’s Clam Hut. Well met indeed!

Latin American restaurant
Loco Coco's Tacos is a vibrant and laid-back spot in Kittery, Maine, offering an authentic taste of Mexican cuisine and lively atmosphere. The restaurant prides itself on serving classic Mexican fare and handcrafted margaritas, creating a festive setting for diners. From barbacoa tacos drizzled with housemade hot sauces to carefully crafted cocktails made with fresh mixes and syrups, the menu reflects a commitment to quality and flavor.
The food is pretty good... Authentic. I was a little concerned and confused pulling in, but you can order your drinks with the food or at the bar. Decent margaritas. The food is actually pretty good and the menu is quite large. I had the grilled shrimp fajita bowl and California fries for an appetizer!

Super good Mexican food! Got the american tacos and they are super filling. My dad got a huge burrito and it was so big he bought the other half home! The beef was delicious and juicy, staff is friendly, we got our food within 5 minutes, limeade was sour but super good and my dad enjoyed the aqua fresca, the quesadillas were so cheesy and warm and the chicken taquitos were fresh and crunchy! We will be back!! :)

We had a great lunch at Loco Coco's. Our server, Teresa, was super friendly and very attentive. I had wings and empanadas my wife had tacos, and it was obvious that all the ingredients were fresh and everything was delicious. The place was clean and attractive. We really enjoyed it.
Dave A — Google review
Loco Coco's is a decent restaurant. The bar area has a fun ambiance, and the staff is on their game. Despite the busy bar on a Saturday night, the bartender paid attention to our table and even made us a delicious spicy margarita. The menu is pretty big, and they do some things quite well. The Banh Mi Fries were a 10/10 and made my night. The pork was crispy, the veggies were fresh, and the cheese made us crave more. Where they miss the mark is some of the meat selections—the chorizo and carnitas were incredibly dried out. The vegetarian tacos, beans, and rice were much better. Overall, I would return to try something different at Loco Coco's but stick with the vegetarian options.
Erica C — Google review
Absolutely love this place. Enjoyed the self-service side. Food delivered to your table. Amazing fresh food - SOO GOOD carnitas taco is a must. Also tried the shrimp taco, also very good. Cali burrito looks amazing, might try that next.

The restaurant is known for its inspiring menu featuring dishes made with the finest ingredients, including Indian street foods like spinach and onion pakora, vegetable dishes, tandoori-roasted meats, and curries. If you like Indian good this place is amazing. Great food and great service. I fly up from Florida and now will always come here at least once.
Tucker R — Google review
First time eating at Tulsi despite living locally. The appetizers were the best part of our meal-beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Our main courses were good-- nothing outrageously stellar, but solid Indian food. We would go again if we have an Indian hankering and the service was friendly, atmosphere basic.
K.H.C. B — Google review
Delicious and authentic!! Having been to India and having tried as many Indian restaurants as I can over the years, Tulsi is definitely up there with some of the best Indian eats I’ve experienced. We got the Bhindi Masala and Kadhi Paneer along with some garlic naan. Absolute flavor! Generous portion sizes means leftovers for dinner. Our waiter was very kind also. Definitely check out and support this place!! Hopefully one day they will bring back their buffet which I remember being just incredible years ago :)

Came here tonight with my husband and 1 year old. Really needed to get out of the house and was craving Indian food. Our son was NOT having it this evening, but our server was incredible and had everything out quickly and was kind to us and him despite being a bit out of our comfort zone. Also- the food was INCREDIBLE!! we will be back.
Charlotte B — Google review
I'm from NYC and often disappointed with the quality of restaurants when travelling. However, the food, service and ambience at Tulsi are all first class. The owner Raj is very attentive and hospitable. He recommended special dishes for our large party to share after understanding our preferences. We had such a memorable experience, by the end of the meal we even were asking him to be in our photos!
Robert F — Google review
I had never been here, and had been at best, underwhelmed every time I had been to an Indian restaurant in the past, but this place not only impressed me but jumps right onto my short list for favorite restaurants. First, while we were at the table waiting for our friends to arrive, all these amazing smelling and looking dishes were being served all around us. And after letting our friends order for us, we were just blown away with everything they put on our table. The variety was terrific and the food was all very delicious.
Michael F — Google review
Tulsi has excellent apps and their main courses are decent. The waitstaff is friendly and knows the menu for questions. Parking can be tricky when it gets busy. But otherwise a nice Indian restaurant to try.

Fantastic meal hosted by amazing friends at Tulsi Restaurant. Was a new experience for me. I’ve always enjoyed different cultural and ethnic foods but alway was reluctant to try Indian. Well I was wrong and I’ve missed out because this meal was fantastic. Everything I tried was perfectly cooked and bursting with complex flavors. Shrimp, Chicken, Lamb and even Goat. Meats were all tender. Nothing was over spiced nor too hot. The service was gracious and super friendly. Everyone got a huge kick out of India’s name. If you have ever considered giving Indian cuisine a try please try Tulsi. You can thank me later

Lil's Cafe is a charming spot located in the quaint Wallingford Square area, offering a delightful selection of house-made pastries and bread. The cafe is named after Lilian Mangos, who worked at nearby Bobs Clam Hut for over two decades. It's a cozy place to enjoy hot drinks, quiche, fresh-baked scones, and even doggie crullers.
I stopped here as the last stop of my trip in Maine and I wish it had been my first so I could have come more. All the baked goods looked amazing. I had the regular cruller which was the best donut I've ever had, and the bacon egg biscuit. The biscuit was incredible, and the egg was unique and perfect texture for the sandwich. Coffee was good too, lots of local parking.

Cool spot with plenty of space. Lots of vintage Maine-themed decor. I enjoyed the crullers! I tried a blueberry and a maple dipped. Iced latte was pretty good. They have lots of house made syrups.
Carrie — Google review
I live two hours north, so I don’t come to Kittery that often, but each time I’ve been into Lil’s it’s been a phenomenal experience! This morning, though chaotic and crazy busy, was no exception. The staff were absolute rockstars and even though they had forgotten to put something in my bag, they were so sweet about getting me what I was missing that it was no issue. I would have forgotten far more things myself! Ha. It’s an added bonus that they have some of my favorite coffee from Western mass that you can’t get anywhere else around. And possibly the BEST lavender latte I’ve ever had. 100/10 Thank you!

The joy only begins at the tiny Kittery Foreside village, a hidden gem alive with small shops and, of note, a humble garage bike service. It is a known stop of ex-pros like Ted King, and the local sportifs. No bike rack, no secure placement. One must keep a watchful eye while queueing. Free water is mercifully offered, though the bathrooms (downstairs, rough, utilitarian) lack true civilisation. Service is quick enough, but the line is long, and seats indoors or out are a competitive sport. For practical aid, the bike shop around back is a better ally than the café itself. Bustling, crowded, a mélange of locals and tourists. Cyclists are not singled out, nor particularly embraced. This is no peloton social hub — you are simply one body among many. Café is bien, not great. An espresso to accompany, but never to inspire. Fuel, not romance. The raison d’être: the cruller. A buttery ring of décadence that overshadows all else, drawing both cyclists and civilians alike. The pastry is the main character; everything else plays supporting role. Lil’s is a stop that feels more like a box ticked than a soul stirred. Yes, one must try the cruller, once, perhaps twice — but the cyclist in search of respite may find greater liberté at the Islander in New Castle. Ratings Café: 3/5 Pâtisserie: 5/5 À Vélo: 2/5

A clear neighborhood favorite, Lil’s Cafe did not disappoint! We their classic cruller (St. Patrick’s day edition), everything bagel with cream cheese, and their yogurt parfait with their house made granola. Everything we had was absolutely delicious, including our coffees. Their location is wonderful and it’s just a lovely place to go on a beautiful morning. Highly recommend!

My husband and I stopped by Lil’s in Kittery, Maine, and I could tell it’s a very popular spot among Kittery locals. It’s is a cozy spot with an inviting atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating, with a beautiful spread of freshly baked breads and pastries. I ordered a vanilla latte and a raspberry cream cheese danish, and both were absolutely delightful. If you’re in the area, Lil’s is definitely worth a visit for its quality offerings and charming ambiance!

A must destination, and it felt like seeing Oz to Dorothy when she saw it for the first time. There are so many outstanding choices! We had the almond croissants (best anywhere!), tasty maple crullers, and that crazy life changing cruffin. Excellent coffees and outstanding staff. Wow!

This place is fantastic. They have unique creations and also do the basics better than anyone else! Never thought I’d say this, but their plain bagel is fire. I had a maple cruller that was amazing. The pepperoni focaccia pizza and chai tea latte were also equally amazing!

We were looking for a place to eat lunch while on vacation that was unique and not something we could find back home. Rudders was the perfect place!! The atmosphere was great. They have inside and outside dining. The food was great! Took a bit to order but they were super busy and seemed a bit short staffed when we were there. Once we got our order in though, the food was quick. The overall experience was great. It’s located in the downtown portion of Kittery…kind of off the beaten path. Glad we found it. Check it out for yourself.

We stopped by here on our way to New York and had some AMAZING food! The waitress was so friendly and the food tasted so good!! Highly recommend getting the waffle fries. The vibes outside are the best, so if the weather permits, do that!!

It was a busy day but they let me sit at a table and wait for my family for quite some time. Everyone was kind and professional. We sat outside because we had a dog with us and they brought water for every dog there! The food was great and the menu was creative and original. I would definitely go back.

I had a lobster roll for the first time, and it was awesome. They got me seated as soon as I walked in the door, and they had my food out not long after that. This place was a wonderful stop off on a long road trip. If you're ever in the area, stop in and enjoy.

Tributary Brewing Company, located in Kittery, Maine, is a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts. The brewery offers a diverse selection of well-crafted beer styles created by legendary brewer Tod Mott, known for his original Harpoon IPA recipe. Visitors can enjoy the minimalist decor of the tasting room while savoring housemade craft brews on tap and live music performances.
Well done. The minute I saw the side pull tab, I knew this brewery had a good likelihood of being a hit. Some people hate beer based on feelings of indigestion or something stuck in the throat. Thats bad beer (even if it tastes good). The minute I took a sip of their polotomavy I knew their water quality was very good and could tell they diligently clean their taps. We also had their porter which honestly tasted like a dark lager which I love. I hope they continue to find success and reccomend beer lovers (lagers, ales esp.) prepare a visit. Czech style beer lovers this is a great place to stop!

Nice little spot for an afternoon beer. We stopped on a Friday afternoon and several parties were hanging out. The small side deck was nice, plus they had a nice covered area with tables in the parking lot. The inside of the space was also very nice and spacious and modern. It was clean and the staff was friendly. The beer was also delicious. My friend had a cider and it was good too. The IPA was mildly hoppy, but just right for a warm fall afternoon. We also tried the lobster dip and chips which was a perfect little snack.

Tributary is a definite gem of the beer world. The deck is beautiful on a nice day but inside is just as nice during the off season. The beer is amazing, Mott releases are always a great time and the staff are always helpful and friendly!

Nice place. I don't drink beer, so I had a cider that wasn't bad. I probably wouldn't order it again though. They had a jazz group playand that was nice. Great service and beautiful interior.

Bar
The Wallingford Dram in Kittery is a charming and cozy pub with a European ambiance. It offers an impressive selection of wines and craft cocktails, complemented by a menu featuring Thai-influenced dishes sourced from its sister property, Anju Noodle Bar. The establishment provides a great spot for enjoying drinks while waiting for a table at Anju, with the added bonus of a secret door connecting the two venues.
Jeff went above and beyond to welcome us into this establishment then made sure our experience was top notch. What an amazing team member you have! Thanks Jeff. The “make haste” and “Crunch punch” were fantastic.
Kelsey H — Google review
We’ve been loyal customers at Wallingford Dram for many years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and quality drinks. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing. While the drinks were still excellent, the staff seemed overwhelmed, and the service reflected that. We were unexpectedly refused another drink without any clear explanation, and the way it was handled felt condescending. We completely understand that bartenders have to make judgment calls “this was not one of those times”. It would have been appreciated if the situation had been communicated professionally and respectfully. When we asked for clarification, the waiter became defensive instead of simply explaining the policy. We weren’t trying to cause a scene — just hoping for a bit of understanding and consistency, especially since we’ve ordered similar rounds many times before. We hope this was just an off night, but better communication and professionalism from the staff would go a long way in maintaining the great reputation we’ve always associated with Wallingford Dram. Remember you are dealing with grown adults not children!

We hit the jackpot with this place! Jeff and his team have put together an incredible atmosphere that welcomes everyone and takes each patron on an unforgettable experience filled with detailed and curated cocktails, interesting conversation, and meaningful connection. It is clear that he takes what he does seriously and genuinely wants everyone that walks through the door to have a good time. My wife and I had such a wonderful time chatting with him and the other guests at the bar. We left with a fantastic memory and a renewed reminder of what a classic cocktail bar should be: fun without pretension. Stop in and say hi; you won’t regret it.

We have been here multiple times, and tonight, my husband and I were excited to have a post-dinner drink in celebration of my 39th birthday. We arrived, and the waitress indicated that we could sit at the bar. Once it was cleared, we sat down, but the bartender quickly came over, nearly shoved me out of my seat to move it over. Apparently, I was seated in an area that interfered with the service. It made me incredibly uncomfortable, and we left. Disappointed. We live close by and felt like we got an extremely cold shoulder.
Nicolle K — Google review
Just the best place for a cocktail. I selfishly don’t even want to say this because I hope I can always get a seat. And if you also have a fear of not knowing cool ingredients, the bartenders here are so nice and attentive and clearly passionate about what they do, they are happy to help! We also ordered the pimento cheese which I’m normally not a huge fan of but was the best one I’d ever had.

Seafood restaurant
Warren's Lobster House is a long-standing seafood restaurant located by the Piscataqua River, offering both indoor and outdoor dining with picturesque views. Originally a small lobster shack, it has expanded into a large complex with various amenities such as a bakery, gift shop, and lounge. The menu is extensive, featuring their famous Seacoast's Finest Salad Bar and an array of seafood options including Maine lobster prepared in different styles.
I came to write this review, I haven't been to Warren's In years, and I see that they are temporarily closed. I hope they can get it together and open back up because when I went before it was some of the best seafood that I had ever had, and they have an outstanding salad bar with probably 100 items or more. I got some sort of combination plate of fish shrimp and clams fried. It was great
L J — Google review
UPDATE: Warren’s is officially closed for the season. Hey, clearly this is not a classy steakhouse joint, but rather, a very casual and friendly seafood restaurant that has been serving patrons since 1940. That, in itself is remarkable They put out a good product, in a timely manner and in a drop-dead river-side location, just a walk across the bridge from Portsmouth, NH. My daughter took me to lunch at Warren’s on a Saturday in February. There was a line of course and a 20 minute wait, which was fine. Fortunately, we were seated at a waterside window. Our wait-gal was very pleasant. As always, we enjoyed the overwhelming salad bar and a wire basket of fried whole belly clams, just cooked and very hot. A little salt was needed. I make my own clam chowder so I opted for a cup of split-pea and ham soup which was hearty and a little bit too salty. A 20 oz. tumbler of Ale complimented the meal. I took my kids here when they played under the table, now Jenny has taken me. Don’t change a thing Warren’s. Afterward, walk around to the side that overlooks the shipyard and admire the nuclear hunter-killer subs at dockside.

Randomly chose this restaurant for lunch on our drive back home and so happy with out pick! Atmosphere was great, waitress was very attentive, and the menu was incredible! So many options to choose from, not even including the salad bar. The salad bar has so many options and a great alternative to the typical appetizer. Prices were acceptable based on the portions and what you’re getting! 100% will be coming again soon.
Emma F — Google review
This place was recommended by a friend. I decided to try it out. I drove my family two hours to get there. It’s pricey but we all know all seafood is. I don’t eat seafood but all my family do and they love it. They told me the clam-chowder was the best they ever tasted. I did like that they offer the kids crayons and coloring book. One thing I really didn’t like and was a big turn off was that supposedly the salad bar was included but is really not, depends on what plate you order. For the price it should. Then the salad bar although it had some variety like the German salad that I never tasted before or knew, (it was very good) they run out of things and take little while to refill. The carrot cake (🤤) runs out fast and takes way too long to refill, I waited 10 minutes and they sell it at the counter and always bringing it to the front but why not to the salad bar?🥹🫠. Portions are good and good size, the food amazing. The sever was little serious but very nice. At the beginning I was like maybe is not his day, but I think he just serious. Great service. Great taste. Does it hurt to include the salad bar?😅☺️😇
JALFREDO N — Google review
There was about a 20-minute wait on Saturday around 230pm. They do have buzzers available, and you can wait as far out as the parking lot so you aren't crammed into the waiting hallway. We were too hungry to get pictures of the salad bar, but it is everything you want it to be, fully loaded with 4 to 5 different greens to start and all the fixings from cold noodles, marinated brussels sprouts, feta, hummus and pita bread. Dressings are homemade, and it's a toss-up for house dill or ranch. Soup and cheese station and generous portions of homemade warm pumpkin bread with rolls to round it all out. Did I mention you can buy a loaf of pumpkin bread to take home? It's everything fall has to offer in one bite. Most entrees (kids meals too) come with salad bar, or the lighter variety menu you can add single items and a salad bar. They offer a full bar, with Bloody Mary's that count like meals, stuffed past the brim. A full menu is devoted to lobster anyway you can imagine it. Have never been disappointed with the seafood here, fresh, sweet, and delicious. We've always been too full to order dessert, but have seen some enormous sundaes being brought to tables. A super unique feature is the sugar scrub in the bathroom, sold in smaller versions in the gift shop, but a neat little touch to make this space that much more personal. Too bad we don't have a buffet like this in NH.
Joannea C — Google review
Based on reviews, we tried Warren's Lobster House while on a visit up to the Outlet Mall. From the outside, it looks exactly like what it is: an honest survivor from the 40's. The kind of restaurant that really hasn't changed much in 70+ years. And it doesn't need to. Inside, it's all wood paneling and Formica, comfortable dining chairs and a super laid-back atmosphere. The menu is huge, but everything you'd expect is covered. We had clam chowder, which was creamy and rich with big chunks of clam. The salad bar, which they boast about here, was well-stocked with cold, crisp veggies and a ton of pasta salads, potato salad, all the salad trimmings you can think of, and nice cold dressings. I don't think I'd pay the $15 for the salad bar if I was also planning on having actual food as well, but it's totally worth it if you want two or three plates of good salad! The salad bar is included with many of the meals here. Which brings me to the seafood: huge portions of flavorful and perfectly- cooked seafood. My wife had a double-stuffed lobster roll that looked like it had more than a pound of lobster meat. My daughter had lobster Mac and cheese, which was delicious-and had humongous pieces of tail and claw meat mixed in. I had the Captain Warren Platter, which had fried whole-belly clams, scallops, haddock, shrimp, and lobster. They were all cooked perfectly, and I have two more meals from my leftovers! Don't pass this place by. If you are looking for nostalgia and honest, good food, check them out. The prices are more than reasonable as well.

Great experience here. Came for lunch and ordered "The Vacationland". The lobster roll was LOADED. Probably the best lobster roll I've ever had. Epic salad bar too. Comfortable atmosphere. Seated very quickly, no wait.
Joel Z — Google review
Warren's has been a favorite as our first meal when we first get to Maine. The salad bar was sorely missed and it was wonderful when it came back last year. Unfortunately, this year it seems that the staff shortage led to food being rushed. The Crazy Claw we usually rave about was just okay this time, as were the lobster bites. Honestly the chicken tenders were the best of the 3 protein entree items. Salad bar and pumpkin bread was delicious as always, but sadly I don't feel the other 2 items were worth what we spent. Hopefully they are back to the place we remember next time we are up.

Restaurant
Anneke Jans is a European-influenced American bistro located in Wallingford Square, Kittery. The cozy restaurant offers a snug lounge, comfortable dining room, and a cute patio for seating options. The menu features flavorful and creative New American dishes such as Smoked Gouda Fondue, Steak Frites with Gorgonzola Sauce, and Flourless Chocolate Torte.
Anneke Jans is probably going to be my new favorite date night spot. My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner on Saturday. It was the perfect spot for a cozy special occasion. The low light and the beautiful plants created a great ambiance. The only complaint would be the noise level. It may just have been the group of ladies sitting nearby, but it was difficult to hear my husband at times. I don’t drink alcohol any longer due to allergies, but I’m always hesitant to get a mocktail because they tend to be too sweet for my taste. The “A Night At the Spritz” caught my attention, so I ordered it. It was well balanced. One of the better mocktails that I’ve had! The food was delicious. We had oysters and clam chowder to start. The chowder was one of the best I’ve ever had. So packed with flavor. For mains, I ordered the mussels, and my husband ordered the duck. He raved about the duck. My mussels were also very, very good. We also split the flourless chocolate torte for dessert. Heavenly! We were SO FULL after dinner, but couldn’t resist eating almost the whole torte. The service was also wonderful. The waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. We will be back soon!

I'm embarrassed to say it's been 10+ years as a kittery resident and I haven't been here before last night. Immediately upon walking in we could tell the staff were some of the best around. They were so friendly and so attentive. We sat at the bar and the bartender Tascha was amazing! My husband and I split a decent amount of items and all of it was way more than we had expected. The steak was cooked to perfection and we were shocked at the size. The prices are exceptionally reasonable for the quality and quantity. Definitely our new go to in town. Don't pass up the espresso martini

Another evening of excellent service and finely crafted dishes. We had the tuna tartare, buratta and duck - all beautifully plated and delicious. Special cocktails featuring a local distillery were a treat.

Anneke Jans is a wonderfully warm and inviting venue in downtown Kittery. Our reservation was honored at 6:30 on a Wednesday and we were shown to a half-walled section that had 3 tables, making the moment intimate. Ella, our server was gracious and relaxed, never a hint of turning the table. My companion and I shared an Arugula salad, so good w pine nuts and a light vinaigrette. The raw oysters were plated properly and were rich and briny, a bit small but enjoyed. As in Paris, Steak Frites are a must. The meat was perfectly cooked, the matchstick frites were over salted though. The Scottish Salmon was a very generous portion w a nicely crusted skin, resting on a moist bed of shiitake and quinoa, all great flavors that worked together. We lingered 1-1/2 hours and it was very special. There is great value here. With a Tanqueray G & T and 4 glasses of red and white, $155 excluding tip. Will def. return. Thanks.

We had a lovely meal here for my husband's birthday. The service, the food, and the decor was really impressive. It's elegant and upscale without feeling pretentious or stuffy. Try not to sit right in the front window at night, though, because it's really annoying to be blinded by headlights coming down the street every few minutes.

This is the finest restaurant that I've ever been to and I've been fortunate to eat at many fine restaurants. The level of sophistication and expertise shown in the cooking processes is second to none. Every dish is memorable and every soup of the day inventive and delicious. From the drinks to the desserts, everything is top notch. The location is fortunate because in a major city, they could probably charge 2-3 times and no one would bat an eye.

Blue Mermaid Island Grill is a vibrant and lively restaurant in Kittery, offering delicious Caribbean-inspired dishes, local beer, and tropical drinks. With a deck for outdoor dining, it's a popular spot to hang out with friends and enjoy the seaside atmosphere. The restaurant also hosts entertainment events like music and trivia nights, making it a fun place to catch up with friends. Additionally, Blue Mermaid Island Grill offers indoor and outdoor seating for enjoying their Caribbean-flavored fare and specialty margaritas.
Long-time 'displaced' Kittery resident who came here expecting to have lunch with my cousin. Much to my surprise, my husband planned a surprise party for my 60th birthday attended by my cousin's from the local area, long-time friends and immediate family the latter who flew in from NC, NV & FL or drove from Dixfield & Windham, Maine. I was too excited to eat but everyone who did thoroughly enjoyed their meals. HUGE shout-out to Brad who spoke with my husband beforehand and the bar & waitstaff who were wicked amazing! Thank you!!

Miss the old Portsmouth location, but Blue Mermaid still has some of the most unique dishes in the area. The restaurant seemed empty for a Saturday and not as comforting as the old location. However, the service was great - our waiter made us feel right at home. Our favorite dish, the paella, no longer exists. The lobster quesadilla is the last man standing and still hits the spot! Try it as an appetizer as the portion is quite large. The exotic-themed menu has mouth-tingling spices throughout most of its dishes. Their homemade fire-roasted salsa and jalapeno pesto sauces were excellent; and highlighted their respective dishes. I will say that the stars of the show are their cocktail menu and desserts. Be sure to try their Key Lime Pie - it's awesome.

For this area, it's definitely one of the better places to eat. My experience is only from brunch. Great service, full bar, and easy menu. Portions are good. Got the brisket Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was actually good, a pleasant surprise to me. The brisket flavor was ok. I do wish the bacon came a little more crisp but I'm sure you can ask for it. Recommend.

Besides having a large beautiful open space with nice bathrooms and a big bar things didn’t go well. We arrived and were greeted warmly but the waitress didn’t communicate well about anything leading to my friend and I leaving disappointed after she didn’t ask about salt or no to the margarita. Then forgetting to put in our appetizer order. When the entrees arrived they were lukewarm and the salad didn’t have dressing and the Rasta pasta was bland even though it was supposed to be spicy 🌶️. I think they need to do some training for both kitchen and waitstaff before I would go back or recommend anyone to try this place.

Visited on a Sunday for brunch. Food was good, very fresh, bloody Mary was great, and great to have vegan options! Amazing catering. They catered my wedding for 140 people on the Thomas Laighton, and everyone was raving about the food. Job well done!!!!!!!!! Thank you Blue Mermaid. We got the beef short rib (unbelievable), jerk chicken, grilled veg, salad, and passed apps. Good allergy accommodating options. The restaurant is consistently good and service is great, my dog loves their outdoor space and the inside always has lots of music

We went here for an open mic gig that my fiance played at with his band. So, live music first and foremost. We decided to order dinner whilst there. The braised short rib steak and cheese was the most phenomenal sandwich I've ever had! Tender, juicy beef, soft sub roll and nice fat steak fries, perfectly prepared! 1000% would come back to try more items on the menu!

Four of us had lunch. Parking is easy. We were seated immediately. Menus selection came across as more limited than I was expecting. Service was ok. Portions are modest. They are trying to be fresh and hip but not yet there. Live music during our visit was poor and too loud. A better menu and improving food quality would make this better.

I was so excited about the hot pepper relish and really wanted to love it but the meatballs (that’s a joke they were some weirdly shaped squares) were so dry they were almost inedible. it was physically hard to eat as these squares of meat were massive and had the consistency of shredded cardboard. The hot pepper relish was super salty and the fries were luke warm. The only good thing was the bread but you couldn’t taste it over all the salt. My aunt got the fried fish sandwich and it was alright. They were pretty stingy with the fish but still much better than this monstrosity.

Loved the Truffle Pizza to which i added sausage - perfection. Totally fun sitting at the bar and chatting with the friendly staff. Total fan and can't wait to pig out on more menu items!

First time in Maine and stopped here for lunch just a couple hours off the plane with my wife. What an incredible experience! Our server Dave took great care of us and walked us through his favorites being his first time here. He suggested the Brussels sprouts and fig & soppressata pizza and we got both. The Brussels came with a ginger/sesame sauce that was absolutely incredible. Dave made sure to tell us to toss the Brussels in the sauce that was at the bottom of the bowl and we ate every bite! Sauce was out of this world and they even sell it in bottles to take home. The pizza was phenomenal. Fresh house-made moz and amazing crust/sauce. The combo of fig/hot honey/basil/and soppressata was so delicious. They also had an outstanding draft and wine on tap selection and David again helped me make good choices with their local craft beers. They even had an NA beer on tap for my pregnant wife to enjoy. My only complaint was that I live 5 states away and can’t come more often! Plenty on the menu that looked amazing. It was so good I didn’t even take pictures of the food until it was gone or half eaten! Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Great vibe, great food, great service.

When Pigs Fly makes one of the best pizzas in Southern Maine! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The experience is made even better with the kindness of their staff. Cocktails are made to perfection each time and have the right amount of kick. The menu has a unique selection of appetizers and pizza combinations. Their jalapeno popper spring rolls were yummy - however, I would have loved more spice. The pizza is the star of the show. Crispy crust with a slight char and some of the best sauce I've ever had. Some of our favorites include the Marinara and Margherita. We'll continue coming back for years to come. Make sure you make a quick stop at the bakery on your way out =]

Ore Nell's Barbecue is a laid-back eatery with a charming rustic ambiance that offers an authentic taste of Texas-style barbecue. Chef Will Myska, a Texas native, showcases his Lone Star culinary skills through dishes like brisket sandwiches, beef short ribs, Frito pie, and banana pudding. The menu includes a unique touch - the 'Texas Napkin Upon Request' tradition of serving white bread to soak up the barbecue sauce.
My belly is so warm and full now. Everything was great. The ribs were so good they did not need any sauce. The flour less German chocolate cake was warm and so delicious. I have found a new great place to dine in my own town.

The BBQ meat platter great value. Sausage very tasty, pull pork good, however the BBQ chicken was extremely overcooked and dry impossible to eat and the ribs were overcooked and dry too. Flavors was good
Alfredo L — Google review
Brisket was disappointing, I’m hoping I just caught them on a bad day and look forward to giving them another shot. Having recently moved from Texas I was really looking forward to this place, overall it is good, but fell short in my opinion in some areas. Pork ribs and pulled pork were great, would highly recommend. Cornbread was just bad, a little too burnt, odd flavoring, and very dry on the ol palate. The Mac and cheese was pretty good, can’t go wrong with Vermont cheddar. Pickles were great, nice touch. Look forward to going back.
Daniel B — Google review
Kevin was very attentive and detailed, despite handling multiple guests and bar service by himself. He recommended getting the Jalapeño Honey Cornbread with the chili, which was an excellent choice. All the meats on the platter for 2 were excellent, as were the 3 sides. Best were the brisket, followed by the ribs. I neglected to ask for Texas napkins (white bread) and should have, especially with the pork. Will definitely be visiting again!
Karl B — Google review
Best BBQ! We loved that we could sauce the meat ourselves rather than having it already drenched. The brisket was our favorite, but the half chicken was extremely moist, hot links were fantastic, and the bark on the ribs was out of this world. They just fell off the bone....honestly, everything was 10/10. The cornbread, though, is on another level. We ordered an extra side to go after our doggie bag was packed up because we just needed more. The deep-fried loaded potato is also an experience on its own. It's like a giant potato skin. Can't wait to go back!
Brandi W — Google review
On vacation and wanted to try at least one bbq restaurant that claimed to be Texas bbq. They might cook it low and slow but they have a ways to go. Ribs were dry and not tender. The pulled chicken was a little tough and if it wasn't for the sauce would have been dry. The only meat that reminded me of Tx. bbq was the brisket. Nice and tender. Good flavor. Wish I had ordered more brisket. Sides were just ok. Mac and cheese, was barely warm. The coleslaw was actually pretty good. Don't know if anyone at this joint has learned how to bbq by going to Tx restaurants but it might not be a bad idea. Oh yeah, we ate outside, they have a nice view of the river.
Road W — Google review
Om nom nom is best way id describe it. Everything was absolutely delicious. Prices are fair and quality is top notch. My only "critique" is the frito pie, just wish there were more fritos underneath the chili (which was also delicious). Literally everything we had was incredible.
Mike K — Google review
Ate there last night for first time. My wife and I had the platter for 2 and it was outstanding. We both agreed the brisket was the best we have had. Ribs and pulled pork were also great and none of the meats needed sauce. They were all really juicy. We will be back on our next trip to Maine.

Super cute. Tried a smoothie, 2 different juices plus a ginger shot while in Portsmouth. They had bowls as well on the menu. Worth going to for a healthy option.

I have been here a few times and I like that I can fully customize my smoothie and they have so many dairy free options, Ordering online makes it even easier to customize. Nice vibe in the shop, very speedy service. Add ins can be a little pricy but I understand the ingredients aren't cheap. I have gotten the very berry smoothie , look forward to trying one of their açaí bowls.

Absolutely loved my visit to the Juicery in Portsmouth! I got the kale smoothie, and it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced - not too sweet, just the right amount of greens. The staff was friendly, and the vibe of the place was laid-back and inviting. It’s a perfect spot to grab a healthy, delicious drink.

Cozy spot with a great vibe! The juices and smoothies are super fresh and full of flavor—you can really taste the quality. Perfect place to stop by for something refreshing and healthy while in Portsmouth. Definitely recommend!

Small juice bar location with decent choices of smoothies, bowls and cookies to grab and go or enjoy in store. I got an expressyoself drink that was pretty tasty. Coffee style vibes with banana. My husband ordered the Mango smoothie and was happy with his choice. I also grabbed an chocolate chip oatmeal cookie and was pleasantly surprised with how satisfying it was.

Be careful - we experienced an apparent issue with cross-contamination (my daughter has severe nut allergies). Incredibly nice employees, and they seem to be doing well, but we won't be returning. Update - company management reached out by email and phone with a very gracious response, advising that they take cross-contamination issues very seriously, but given the nature of their business they can not guarantee that cross-contamination will never occur, which seems reasonable.

Was very excited to try the dragonfruit açaí bowl. Unfortunately, it was very soupy with lots of small chunks of ice and none of it tasted homemade. Service was also quite slow - even with only a few other customers. Had to clean a table for a spot to sit.

Frisbee's Wharf at Pepperrell Cove is a picturesque outdoor dining spot with stunning views of the water. The menu features a mix of American classics and seafood specials, complemented by a well-stocked bar. Visitors can dock their boats and enjoy fresh seafood while taking in the panoramic scenery. The location offers a break from the typical Maine lobster fare, with options like blue fin tuna that are highly recommended.
Our server was wonderful. The views from the ski lodge was gorgeous. The alcohol free options were better than most places. The crab blt was delicious. Highly recommend Frisbees wharf

This was a great place to relax, eat and drink. The setting and the views are nice, and the ability to move over to the dock and have drinks there while you watch the sunset is a real bonus too. I went with a group and we shared fried olives, nothing wrong with them, just not my thing. I don’t think frying them adds anything to the mix, maybe if they were stuffed that would make them more interesting? Three of us got the tuna poke bowl and this dish was delicious. Fresh, plenty of tuna and flavorful. I would definitely get this dish again. The drinks were good although I can’t remember which one I ordered. They were shucking fresh oysters while we were there and next time I’m going to have a few of those too.

We’ve been wanting to come try this local spot out and are glad we did. We happened to find an open spot on Father’s Day and my Father-in-law absolutely loved his fish fry platter and everyone enjoyed their food. I personally thought the salmon was ok, so fried fish plates must be the must get here. The view is absolutely stunning and a fun place to be outdoors and enjoy each other’s company. Only two drinks on our check and it was almost $200 which I think for the casual setting and dishes it’s way too much which is why I would give it four instead of five stars. Had I been blown away by the food, perhaps I would have felt differently.
Greta M — Google review
This place sits right on the water with stunning views. The food is pretty average with a higher price, but still good. We got a couple of apps and drinks. It was a busy weekend when we went, so it took a while for a server to get our orders and had to stop them every time for a refill.

We been here a couple times but this last time was very much a disappointment and we will not be back. 8/30/25 we did a road trip to ME and stopped in for late lunch the hostess told us she’ll be right with us but then took 2 different parties before seating us and we already had been waiting 5 minutes before any other party showed up. She refused to let us sit close to the water meanwhile she was sitting everyone else where ever they wanted to sit. My scallop roll was boring and tasteless and looked like it was tossed on the bun. The oysters were amazing and our waiter was awesome. There’s soooo many seafood places to eat along the coast this wasn’t their day

Finally able to try this quaint hot spot near the water. The staff very friendly and helpful. Drinks were okay. I did try the lobster roll. The roll itself could of been toasted better but there was a good amount of lobster. Enjoyed the great view. Would try again.

We stumbled upon this restaurant when I breakfast spot we were planning on going was unexpectedly closed and we couldn't have been happier with the find . The food was absolutely delicious. Our lobster roll was packed with flavor and the build your own burritos were a fun and tasty option. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the owner personally introduced himself, which added a nice personal touch. Our server was friendly and attentive, checking on us throughout the meal to make sure we were enjoying everything. The bathroom was spotless, which is always a bonus. It's a great spot to meet up with friends or family. We never felt rushed, and in fact, they even took a picture of us, which felt like a lovely gesture. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

The meatloaf sandwich is insanely good. My new favorite. Dave also has the cheapest (and best!) lobster roll in the area. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, and Wednesday features the famous buck a shuck ($1 oysters!). Dave‘s rocks.

My partner and I have been here a couple of times and have enjoyed every visit. They serve high quality pub food, but had a special for “Dave’s Famous Lobster Rolls” for $18 this weekend. Honestly one of the better lobster rolls that we’ve each had on the seacoast in a while, and at a great price. Would highly recommend this place for lunch or a quick bite!

My hubby and I were looking for a great place to have a beer and we found Dave’s! It was Wednesday, $8.00 beer and shot! The lobster roll was outstanding, buttered roll, light mayo, just perfect! My hubby got the shepherds pie, which was amazing! We met some great people just out for a beer as well, this is a must try! Planning to go back soon. Dave came out to say hi too! 😂

Before heading home, we stopped by The Maine Beer Cafe after our weekend adventures with the family. We would not typically pick a bar atmosphere for our family but the food posted online looked really good and we just had to try it. There were not many people working so even though the service wasn't super fast, we knew the bartender was going as fast as she could. We were in no rush so we were just enjoying relaxing after such a long day. We ordered a variety of food and I have to say it was absolutely amazing and incredible in every way possible. The buffalo chicken wrap was fresh and absolutely hot hot hot. The classic burger was really juicy topped with cheese and tomatoes. Everything was super fresh. We enjoyed chips and cucumbers as sides, which is a nice change-up from the typical eatery. Their main side choice is potato salad. Great selections of sides. As for the atmosphere, the inside is small. Mostly bar patrons filled the bar area. The crowd appeared to be very local and close knit with the staff. It was nice and clean. The bathroom also has a very interesting appeal with many decals that decorate the walls from different beverage companies. I would love to visit again should I find myself in the area.

I would come back to Maine Beer Cafe in a heartbeat. The location is a lot of fun with outdoor seating, jumbo jenga, and corn hole. If you are visiting with friends and aren't a beer drinker they also cater to others with Margarita and Bourbon flights. Not to mention, the food is fantastic for a beer cafe. I ordered the bacon gouda dog which was covered in crisp bacon and mouth watering cheese. I give it a huge thumbs-up for the snap-casing hot dog, rare to find in New England.

This is a complete hidden gem for the food alone. This is not your typical dive bar food. Absolutely great vibes and great food. We've tried the wings a few other apps and the patty melt. This might very well be the best food on that kittery strip and I'm not joking. Especially for the price. Don't forget to try their Sriracha cream sauce. Shocked at how long we drove past without stopping in!

This place has THE best fish and chips I have ever had. It’s a dish I have had from many places and we went last year and it was amazing. We were passing by and had to stop. The fish is so fresh and cooked to perfection. The crisp on it is amazing, portion size huge, and it’s not oily. The fries are also cooked to perfection. We ate upstairs in the Ski Club and it was fabulous! It was filled with people who were happy to be there on that beautiful evening, and the music was pumping and the drinks were flowing. Our meals were incredible: salmon and haddock. Each dish was thoughtfully created and executed. After dinner we walked on the docks that are right out back, and had we had room in our stomachs, we would have gotten an ice cream from the little window. Next time! I recommend this restaurant with great enthusiasm.
Jessica W — Google review
We were in Portsmouth NH for our anniversary and were looking for a romantic seaside seafood restaurant. Bistro 1828 appeared to for the bill. The location with indoor and outdoor seating is great. The views from the third floor ski club level have the potential to be amazing, just check to see if the fog is rolling in. We were disappointed with the food, and the service was o.k. But lacked personality and connection. As in zero attempt to speak with us outside of what we were ordering g and if we wanted dessert. We’re not looking for our server to hear our life stories, but zero interest in where we are from or why we were there. The food was the great let down. There are several options for appetizers, salads, and entrees. My spouse enjoyed the generous serving of clam chowder. For entrees they ordered the fish and chips (being British an all time favorite). However the fish was breaded rather than battered and the French fries were frozen and starch sprayed. Being that we were on the coast, I wanted to order seafood as well and option for the “crab stuffed” haddock. All I can say is that the crab stuffing was a pasty, gelatinous mass that is pushed aside after a small bite - I would have said taste, but it lacked any. The fish itself was nicely cooked, the mashed potatoes were surprisingly good, the lobster sauce well balanced. The asparagus was, for my taste overly grilled and mushy. We did I enjoy the dessert special, a stone fruit crisp. There is parking on both sides of the roads. Reservations are recommended, though even here we were surprised to discover that they use a reservation system that requires you to set up an account and submit a credit card to secure your spot. We skipped the online reservation and called instead.

We celebrated our 12th anniversary dinner here last night. We booked on the Resy app last minute and walked from our Airbnb. There are actually 3 separate restaurants in this building. It’s a little confusing at first. The Bistro appeared to be the nicest, indoor option. It wasn’t super busy around 7pm on a Monday. A handful of tables were occupied but plenty of room for walk ins on a Monday night. Our server was so friendly and bubbly. A sweet girl from NH. We chatted all things New England and Kittery. Her service was on point. My hubby and I decided to share all food, to try more. We started with the seasonal salad with the maple vinaigrette. I was hesitant at first but it was delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the Oysters Rockefeller and the traditional Mussels. They were both fantastic. I liked that the mussels sauce wasn’t overly garlicky like a lot can be. Simplistic and salty. For our entree we shared the New York strip. I’ve never had a steak quite like this. Instead of heavily seasoning, like nearly every other steakhouse, it tasted like this steak was marinated. It was simplistically delicious. A little char, a little acidity, and a savoriness of rosemary. Gosh it was just so dang good! The broccolini was heavily peppered, not bad but just be aware. The potatoes au gratin were also unlike anything I’ve ever had. I don’t even like French onion soup but it tasted like the most delicious French onion soup I’d ever had. The cheesy oniony potatoes were simply to die for. I know that I’m going to be craving them once I return home. I wish they’d package these things and ship them! We toasted our anniversary with the Brut champagne. Lighter than the average and not nearly as pungent of how Bruts normally are. Highly recommend coming here and trying a little bit of everything!

Not a mistake that I marked down $50 - $100 per person for lunch. 2 people... 2 cocktails & 2 beers, 1 appetizer (split) 2 entrée. $130 before tip.

My daughter and I sat outside under the tent overlooking the water which was beautiful. We are both from New England and we were looking for a good lobster roll. We ordered and not two minutes later the rolls came out. I think they pre-made them and were sitting in the kitchen outside because I could not even pick up the roll it was so soggy. For $44 there wasn't that much lobster in it either. Big thumbs down and will not go back.

Customers can also find specialty sausages, prime cuts, and ready-made items like sausage bolognese and pulled pork sourced locally for freshness.
Awesome butcher and the quality/extreme freshness is very evident. Completely different from what you would get at the grocery or wholesale store, it makes a huge difference when you finally sit down to take a bite!

Disappointed. First off, business hours (11am-5pm) are tricky with your average 9am-5pm work schedule so I had to try three times to get there on time. Got a variety— dry aged ribeye steak (1.2lb), three types of sausages (1lb 3 links), and one cured cold-cut sausage (fixed price 16.99 one link). Just about $95 out the door. Ribeye: Taste 5/5, Value 1/5. This was a $50 steak. Good, but totally not worth the price. Variety Sausages: Taste 3/5, Value 3/5. Sujuk was good, bacon cheese was ok at best, hot was disappointing taste wise. Cured Sausage: Taste 1/5, Value 3/5. It tasted ok at first, but halfway thru I considered throwing it away because of the taste. Really disappointed here. All in all, prices were very high and value was not even close for me. I would not recommend this place.

Premium meat, premium products. They butcher their own pigs so you can ask for custom cuts. I also tried their ham and salami - hmm top notch. That said, you gonna have to pay some extra bucks for it. Also, they offer some pasta and olive oil from Italy.

Really fresh meat and a lot of different interesting cuts! This place has dry aged beef, various pork cuts that are very tender, and lamb, as well as sausages, cheese, and assorted dry goods. The service is great, with all the cuts and how to prepare them explained.

Absolutely the best butcher in the area, hands down. Amazing products, and top-notch service. They have all the typical cuts you’d expect and they’re always fresh and delicious, but where they really shine in my opinion is their sausages, cured meats, and other prepared products. Also have a small but unique selection of packaged food products and beverages. My dog also gives it 4 paws up for the samples!

Great place for delicious pub grub, a pint of local beer, and friendly bartender. I had the Which Came First - duelling deviled eggs, and 2 chicken wings. Surprising how much it filled me up! I had to pack half of my short rib grilled cheese to take home.

Food was well presented and delicious. Being the only table in the relatively small restaurant I expected much better service. The place was also so cold inside we all kept our coats on.

Great cocktails but service was ridiculously slow. Had to ask twice for our drinks and we were ignored until we asked for another cocktail or our bill.

I have mixed feelings about the place. It has an amazing view. I've had enjoyable dinners here, I've had very poor meals. It runs me about 50/50. They seem to do better with their summer menu. Their Nashville Chicken was pretty enjoyable.

I had high hopes for this place, but was extremely disappointed. I recommended them at first and even organized gatherings with friends. * Bartenders are super unfriendly and treat you as if they are doing you a favor. Cocktails are, without a doubt, mediocre. * Food is OK; decent, possibly pretentious. The problem is that "OK" and "decent" do not justify the cost - neither does the pretense. * Ambience is lacking, as if they really don't know what they want to be. They want the edginess of a bar, but the elegance of a 4 star restaurant. This shows in the clientele outside vs inside. The goal overall, which is obvious, is to cater to the "neo-Portsmouth" crowd, which would mean the more affluent tourists and fresh transplants from Massachusetts, CT and NY. * Location is great, lots of wonderful views of the river. Final thought: Hollow.

This was without a doubt my worst dining experience ever. We stopped in for an appointment with the catering manager, Michael, but he was not there for the scheduled time, but we decided to eat there to try the food out because the menu looked promising. Our table was dirty and the server (bartender) was unhelpful. The server arbitrarily decided to bring our appetizers with the main course instead of first. We waited a full 40 minutes for the food and ended up having to get it boxed up because we were late to meet someone. Then we were incorrectly charged twice for an item. We opened the food to eat it while it was still hot, with high hopes of the "quality award winning food" Michael had boasted about. It was abysmally disappointing. The charcuterie board had gross fat left on meat cuts, only one kind of very mediocre cheese, and the worst excuse for crackers I've seen. The pork shoulder was bland and over sauced with a very bland coleslaw. I was very eager to try this place because the menu did look good, but the service and food quality were just terrible.

Really awesome outdoor seating in direct line with the sunset over the Piscataqua. Beer selection is very good. This is a gastro-pub so none of that standard average-at-best pub food. The menu while limited and very difficult to decipher (very weird and confusing descriptions) has excellent choices. The ribs (maybe the best I've had in New England in a region that has a dearth of good BBQ) and bratwurst are outstanding. The servers are really awesome and personable. Really great to have a place within walking distance of downtown Portsmouth (just on the other side of the drawbridge) where you can escape the loudness and lines all along the waterfront restaurants. Much more reserved and a hidden treasure (not to mention lower meals tax in Maine doesn't hurt either).

Old new Hampshire coastal bar ambience. The food isn't a match, but was tasty. The pork on the banh mi was excellent as was the roll, but the pickled veg was drippy and flavorless. The fries were about average. My companion got the salad with chicken. It's tough to ruin a salad. The chicken was fried, flavorful, and there was plenty of it. Helpful attentive staff.
