The 50 best bars and drinks in Sarajevo Canton

You won't stumble upon this bar while strolling through the city center, and that is probably the biggest miss you'll have in Sarajevo. I got there on a recommendation and found out it had been permanently closed until a few months ago, when the new owner decided the storied history of this place was not meant to be over. Everything here is a 10+. I only enjoyed a pre-dinner drink, but I was fully immersed in the timeless atmosphere that has settled on every shelf, table, and corner, even in the restroom. You will find a fine selection of liqueurs and beers—their quality is undeniable. Even the complimentary snack I received with the drink was amazing, unusual, and perfectly curated. Long story short: this is now, by right, one of my favorite places in the world. No visit to Sarajevo will ever be complete without a stop here. Thank you for bringing this bar back to life!

This bar is incredibly charming. I felt like I was stepping into an old film. Unfortunately, the drink selection is distinctly average. We would have loved to see some cocktails on the menu.

This is my new favorite place in Sarajevo! Just wow. Felt like I was transported back in time. Drinks were amazing, we had cooked wine. Apparently cocktails weren’t the best, but wine is amazing! Interesting concept and cute menu. It’s super small and you will have to wait a bit for table unless you’re lucky, but it’s totally worth it. My favorite is that music isn’t too loud so you can have a really nice chat with people.

An amazing experience! Kino Bosna is an old cinema that has been converted into a pub after the war ended. It's a place where music and bosnian culture create an unforgettable experience. I'd fully recommend going there especially on a Monday or Thursday when they have live music. Do not trust people saying they're rude, we were welcomed and they made us feel at home immediately. Even finding us a table when the place was already full! Fully recommended 👌

This bar was truly a hidden gem in Sarajevo! Set in a former theater, the place has stunning aesthetics; high ceilings, beautiful architecture, and a cozy yet grand atmosphere that gives it so much character. The live Bosnian music was incredible, and what made the night even more special was seeing locals dancing with so much joy and authenticity. It felt like being part of a real cultural moment, not just another night out. We came as a group of 14 and were happily accommodated, which isn’t easy in most places, but here it was no problem. There’s a small entry fee at the door, so make sure to bring some cash. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience Sarajevo’s lively nightlife and culture all in one place!

Came here for some traditional Bosnian music, this was a great vibe, lots of locals, very good atmosphere. The live music was so nice, was recommended by the lady who done the walking tour and it did not disappoint! If you’re here on a Thursday night, Go!

We came here on a Monday night, when there was live music and lots of people. We had the best time. The live music was great, we loved singing and dancing with the crowd. Entrance is 5KM and beer is the same. Bring cash and enjoy!

A MUST visit in Sarajevo. On Monday nights, they have live music and dancing. Recommend booking a table from around 8 or 8:30pm. The drinks were reasonably priced, but the main attraction is the atmosphere. You will never experience anything like it anywhere else. Best time I had in Sarajevo.

Wonderful repurposing of an old art cinema with a schedule of events worthy of this super cool.venue. Mrs Sena was such a delight to chat with even though she and I could only communicate in our very limited Italian. Cheers to any more years for her and this labor of love turned venue.

Very friendly place. Underground artistic people go there for a chat, for a drink or to paint together. Do not expect a fancy place as you may not like this kind of place where chaos seems to be the keyword. If you’re into getting into the real people go here. If looking for nice cocktails and piano bar this is not for you.

Amazing drinks, awesome interior, nice service, and super cheap prices. The Hugo is really good and the pina colada is not bad either. We will definitely come back!

If you want to waste your money and be disappointed, you can go there. It takes them an hour to come and take your order, and another hour to actually bring it. On top of that, they just throw it in front of you. They have no respect for customers. The staff are rude and unpleasant. I definitely do not recommend this place. If you want to pay but not actually receive proper service, then by all means, go.

Friendly staff, very reasonable prices for a morning coffee or afternoon drink.. as well as a night out. Locals come, but a must-visit place if you are visiting Sarajevo. Recommended for small talk or a night out.

Cute bar, but the long haired waiter is super rude with no manners and no willingness to be there and/or answer anything when people ask. He basically just throws drinks on your table when you order and creates very uncomfortable vibe due to his rudeness and behaviour.

This place has a lady who looks like she is forced to work here. (Curly hair) Only come serves us when we waited 20 mins and asked to be served. .they don’t want to Make money here. 0 customer service. Very very rude staff. Don’t pay money to get treated bad.

Great music but too smokey. They dont serve their menu on music nights so u can only buy a plate for 4 on those nights. The basement is beautiful and a better atmosphere. Make a reservation or u may not get in.

There was a limited choice of food and we could order just a couple of meals, not even close to what was listed in menu. The choice of wines was also very poor, they didn't have any decent wines. The waiter was not kind and when we complained about something he told us to call the owner. And finally at the end we also had a very unpleasant experience with the security stuff. Me and my friends are not going back there.

Waiters are usually grumpy/sassy and try to overcharge. I reserved a table and we didn't want to sit under a leaking roof. That was upsetting to the waiter. YOUR ROOF IS LEAKING WATER. They literally place plastic bags all over the couch. Somehow they haven't fixed the roof over 5 years lol

Very cool place, good service and food is fine. Reservations are needed when there is live music, so we could sit only for an hour.

I would give this 3 1/2 stars if I could. We went in to see if they had the football on. The young lady behind the bar gave me the remote and said I could put any game on that I wanted. She was lovely, helpful and friendly. The guy at the bar was also ok. We went there for a quick beer the next evening and were charged considerably more by another person. First night, 4*, second night 2*.

Waiter was incredibly rude, tried to shout at us for trying to order a beer. I shouted back and got back to my place, then he brought two random beers (without asking what we want). He tried to ignore eye contact when we try to call him for order. Live music and atmosphere is cool but service is the worst i have ever seen !

Below average pub with inconsistent card payment policies - let me pay 13km by card for my first drink, then when I bought a second drink, insisted that anything under 20km had to be paid in cash. Live music sounds like a good draw card but when we were there the band was just playing covers, and I got the feeling that was pretty standard. Beer selection was also not very interesting.

We really liked this pub. Relaxed atmosphere, fast service. There is live music every evening, so it is recommended to reserve a table. The waiters were really friendly and fast. Cool atmosphere, recommended.

Paid with credit card previous day. On going to pay today told credit card machine not working. Told to go to ATM, for reference any transaction via an ATM in Bosnia and Herzegovina charge DM15. Complete rip off. This establishment should advise if credit card machine not working before they take your order! General advice I would avoid this place.

The place can get crowded on weekends, when we were there they had a live band that played bosnian music and everyone was singing along 😊🙏🏻🎤 sound guy turned the PA up so loud my eardrums kinda hurt afterwards. great beer tho

We were there twice during our stay in Sarajevo. Once during daytime and once in the evening 'till closing time. During the day there were only a few other customers but the atmosphere was very nice and friendly. The waiter was a bit weird but also a funny and very friendly guy. He even mixed us a drink, that wasn't on the menu, after we explained it to him and the price was ok. At nighttime it was packed. It was Ex-Yu Rock night and a cover band called DerneX was playing. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff had all hands on deck to keep up with the orders. But they did a great job. Same goes for the band. The prices were a bit higher because of the live music, but it was totally worth it. My recommendation would be to inform yourself when there's live music and to then plan your visit accordingly.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Waiter is grumpy, pour you any oxidated wine he has open for days , don’t explain anything about it but send you a bill of a decent / expensive wine. An authentic trap.

It was on the menu. I asked for a glass of Chardonnay, but the waiter said they didn’t have it … And the place is even called Vinoteka! I ended up having to drink beer instead.

Good selection of local wines. Although the bartender wasn't warm at first, he charmed us in the end. Like most bars, it was very smoky. We enjoyed the decor. You can order Italian food from the restaurant next door to be brought into the wine bar.

If you order less than 20, you can’t pay by card. They pour very little wine and it’s sour. The portions are small and tasteless. The service is below average and it’s very expensive.

Cool bar in an older building right on the street, with inside and outside seating. Service was fast, beer was cold… didn’t eat any food. It was quite busy later on in the evening! We went early on.

Avoid this place (and the place across the road) like the plague. All nice when you're ordering but when it comes time to pay, if you ask for a receipt they'll make a big deal out of it like "my fellow bartender from the other pub said you did a similar thing for a drink at their place" (the similar thing being, asking for a receipt) These guys are all in cahoots with one another, running a scam to get tourists to pay more. When you ask for a receipt, they first tell you what the price for everything is off the top of their head, and when you insist you want to see it on a receipt, it's obvious they've inflated prices to rip you off and their attitude will change because you've caught them out, spouting "hurry up, I'm busy cant you see" as you're getting ready to pay. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Go to Celtic bar or Barometer where you're actually treated fairly and not being ripped off. Scammers, beware.

Charged us 17M for two drinks, across the road same drinks were 10M. We had been in Bosnia for two weeks already and knew prices in capital were higher. Knew I’d been scammed when given 4M change, not 3, from 20 note. Took it on the chin knowing I’d be writing this review the next day. Also took about 20 mins to get served.

Very decent pub close to ‘bašćaršija’ area and some hotels. I was on a business trip and it was raining so went here, close to my hotel. Quite big inside, on 2 floors. Good offer of beer and food. Prices are very moderate and acceptable. No parking outside so you will have to walk here. Staff was quite quick and friendly. Also has a huge canvas on ground floor where football matches are projected.

Paid 48 marks for 3 Carlsberg beers and 4 bottled waters. Seems off compared to other pubs. And the worst thing: every water bottle was opened. So its pretty obvious that they refill these bottles with tap water (at least when it is sarajevo film festival). The waiter also tried to charge my friend after i already paid! Really bad, can not recommend.

It's a clean, proper space with two floors where it's easy to find a table for small groups. (<4p). The seats are confortable, the interior is pretty decent, the lighting interesting. There's a few areas that are decorated, but overall it's quite moderate. Its a Thursday night and there's a dj mixing poppy house or remakes with a beat on them, something like that, it is not really disturbing, but I haven't heard two songs being mixed smoothly. Most often it sounds really off. We are grateful our cat could enter and have a seat next to us. That was friendly. For drinks we had a Somersby cider for 4KM each. (2€) which is moderate pricing. During the day when there'll be no dj it might be more interesting to visit.

Place with tradition. Meeting, dancing, Concert hall. Everything at one place. My parents went there for dance 70 years ago. I start goin in Sloga when I was teenager, 50 years ago, and from time to time i still go there. My kids started going since their 19's. Occationaly concerts heald place in Sloga. All kind of music. Sometimes folk dance. Place is located in the very Center of town, almost on the main road. Stuf is polite and helpful, drinks are not expensive.

Still, not a bad place to pass some time!

Last year I went with two friends who visited me from Spain. The waiters were very unpleasant and I find a certain misogyny. Women in that space are treated like cattle. I went again for a Latino night recently. They place tables on the dance floor, and if you want or feel like dancing, you will be uncomfortable due to the lack of space and because the glances are not very complacent. My experience was horrible first because when I sat at a table the waiter moved me from it to seat two men he knew. Quite misogynistic and disrespectful. When I pointed this out, he told me they had a reservation (when more than half of the club was empty and each table had a "reserved" sign). Those same men (who in my opinion were placed too close to us, girls, who were dancing) pushed me every time they passed by. Tired of the treatment, I placed the stool between their table and ours. Seeing this gesture, that man kicked the stool and knocked it over. I did not confront him, I was frozen to see that treatment. Treatment that this nightclub allows. I have read in other comments that they are also racist. I would add that they are misogynistic. Women are not welcome. Gender perspective is something they have not even heard about in their lives.

Amazing experience, music is amazing even for people that are not from Balkan. Prices are great, it's very cheap. And service is very fast and professional. All in all we were satisfied with this place and i highly recommend it if you're visiting Sarajevo.

Weird but interesting club. Good price, cool music. However, you won't be allowed to dance much. People are just drinking and smoking at their tables and security guards don't allow to dance in between tables and corridors. Weird for a "club"

The food was decent, but all three dishes were overcooked — the meat and chicken were a bit dry. The Caprese salad looked strange, as instead of real mozzarella, there were just slices of regular cheese.

Good “American” fare with lots of beer options. Great spot if you want a break from traditional Bosnian dishes and want a better beer selection. Even without anyone smoking there is a cigarette aroma and smoking is allowed.

Vučko is a great place to chow down on some hearty pub grub or to get a few beers. The staff don’t always speak good English, but are friendly and helpful nonetheless.

Always have a good time here. For me, the only place for craft beer in Sarajevo. They truly support local and regional breweries.

this place is a great spot for indulging in delicious food like burgers or pizzas, or simply enjoying drinks with friends. the interior is beautifully decorated with lots of interesting details, creating a cozy tmosphere . the background music mostly features Ex-Yu hits, which really creates a nostalgic vibe. my sister and I ordered burgers, and they were absolutely delicious. i'm definitely looking forward to coming back—either for dinner or a fun night out 🥂✨

We popped into this place for a beer and ended up staying for dinner. We had the Vucko beer and it was pretty good! The food was just ok. I had a quesadilla, and I think it was more like a BBQ chicken wrap. It was good… just not a quesadilla. BUT… I’m in Sarajevo not Mexico City. It was decent. The location is nice outside the old city and was close to my hotel. It’s off the street in a little courtyard. My only qualm was the ventilation wasn’t super great so it was quite smoky… but a lot of the Balkans is like this so I just have to deal!

I do not recommend this place at all. From the moment we walked in, the staff were rude and dismissive. Once they realized we were tourists, their behavior became noticeably worse — condescending, disrespectful, and even blatantly racist. The food was average at best, but the experience was completely ruined by the unacceptable attitude of the staff. No one deserves to be treated poorly just because they’re a visitor. A basic level of respect and hospitality should be a given, but sadly, that was completely missing here. It was one of the most delicious beer I’ve ever tasted. The waiter was so cheerful, kind and welcoming. The music was energetic and hyped us up. The prices are fair. Definitely worth visiting. I LOVED the glasses. I wanted to take it home with me 😅

Great experience at Celtic Pub! Very friendly staff and good music playing in the background. We initially came to use their luggage storage, and the owner kindly gave us a good discount. We ended up spending some time at the bar and really enjoyed it. Celtic Pub is a great place to relax and hang out with friends. Highly recommended!

After struggling to find anywhere to eat, I walked past a grumpy bouncer and was “served “ by a rude waiter who told me to scan the menu. Can we please just offer people menus? I ordered a beer while scanning the food menu…. Alas the waiter couldn’t be bothered to bring my drink so I left. Also the area inside is small and people smoke so if you don’t like smoke don’t come here…

Best pub in Sarajevo for foreigners! A lot of different beer from around the world + local breweries. Nice local music creating unique atmosphere. And its opened until 2 AM during the business days when everything around is already closed.

The service is great, the coffe is good, the music is great, ambient and style of the caffe is really nice and creative. There is also some boards (snowboard and skateboard decks) to buy aswell as spraypaint. I really recommend this place.

Fun bar with funky decor, cool music, and super friendly service. A great choice for a drink when in Sarajevo’s old town.

The bar was open even late at night. The walls outside the bar have artistic graffiti, and the terrace seating has a unique and nice atmosphere. Across from it is a very attractive space where you can sit down in a rough space, similar to the veranda in Japan. The staff is friendly and helpful, and you can enjoy local and various international beers. And this bar accepts payment by credit card.

The Shop Board Room is a charming bar with friendly staff and an awesome selection of local craft beer. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming—definitely a place worth coming back to!

Located in street Hamdije Kresevljakovica - Freaky's Pub is one of the most cozy pubs in Sarajevo. Not so big, but beautiful London style I would say. Very clean, modern, good beer, staff is kind.

My first experience was great, although it was very crowded two years ago. Today we ordered gin and tonic, but I only tasted tonic water. When I asked the bartender directly that the cocktails taste only of tonic, he said that he put too much tonic, but he can add more gin if we pay. Making a bad cocktail is not my fault, it's your bartender's, if he doesn't know how to make it, he can take a class. I also asked him very politely to fix it, but he didn't. Unfortunately, this will be my last time here.

When I went to other cities out of Turkey I am looking for nice restaurants, bars and good live musics as to my choices. Jazzbina was my choice to listen good live music. The bar had a good vibe. Music was not jazz but the band was playing very good blues, which is kind of I like musics. We were 2 ladies. We went some late max 1 hour later live music finished. Customers were looking nice I spoke with one of them to ask band's name, she was nice. I spoke with vocal of the band, he was nice, too. When we went there waiter came to ask what we gonna drink. We ordered one beer and soda. We want to leave after live music finished, so stayed max 1 hour. We couldn't see someone or waiter to pay our drinks. We went to bar to find cash desk. Noone is looking to us what do we want, why are we there? If we want we could go out without pay. But we are not that kind people. My friend want to pay her soda, me my beer. Waiter said ''Nooooo, not seperatly, together'' I asked why he said easy, I said it's easy for you not for us. Anyway I said ok, but I had Euro, if he say ok she and me will pay by KM own drinks. I gave euros, wait for my payback, waiter was just looking to my face, I said my payback he gave me some coins which is supposed to be not right payback, couldn't check at the moment ' cause in the same time he said ''move'' to me. When I'm paying I put my bag on the bar. There was another man back of the bar, he pushed my bag towards me, told me to go and pushed me by the shoulder. !!!!!!! I have never seen this kind a thing in anybar, We are not child or not going to bars first time. We went too many places, bars, concerts, festivals....etc, we are adult people, 2 ladies. You were so rude, you have the most rude and awfull staff I have seen! I am sorry from the musicians who played there, night was good started but the staff ruined the night. I never never ever go there again, how much good music playing there. JAZZBINA STAFF YOU ARE SO RUDE AND TERRIBLE!

Great pub, came here twice during my stay in Sarajevo and saw very talented people au both times. It can get quite crowded on the weekend, so having a table is not granted.

This is the guy in the glasses who serves at Jazzbina. It was our first night in Sarajevo so we did not know anything about the prices. Instead of charging us 60 marks for 10 beers he charged us 60 euros for the same. They will see if you’re familiar with the place or not and the rip you off.

Great place, good drinks, amazing vibes and music

This place is cosy and has an extreme nice decoration. But most important the owner is a gentlemen and a kind person with great taste of music. During our visit we were not lucky enough to catch the live music (random jam sessions). Definately recommended. I would visit again.

An amazing bar/cafe with a great selection of (mostly) political book, a wide beer selection (however those beers aren't always available), live music which you can join in on and just jam. We zang Bella ciao all together at midnight, so it is lively long into the night. Some tourists were blackout drunk so the barman (a very funny open guy) handled the situation with care.

Wandered in and LOVED it. The vibe inside is amazing, so cool, a feast for the eyes. The music choice was brilliant. Bonded with the bar man (Danko) over music - he was so sweet and attentive. I wish we were here longer. Would love to spend more time and witness some live music!!!! Next time!!

Nice atmosphere, cool decor but the wine came from a dodgy bottle and made me so aggressively sick that i could not move for a day and had to change my travel plans. would recommend if you like over expensive drinks and a cool vibe. would not recommend if you value your health.

The reviews here were right, this is a very quirky bar. The decorations are so random in a good way. The bartender was super friendly. The main music here is jazz.. Great drinks and vibes. They also have live music sometimes. I highly recommend it if you want a very chilled time. The location is perfect. Only a few minutes walking distance from the old bazaar.

Atmosphere -100. I’ve passed by Pink Houdini many times and was curious about the quirky, cool interior. However, the exterior displays a lot of political propaganda that is anti-Christian and provocative, including messages that misrepresent Christian history and target Serbs and Croatians. As a Christian tourist, I would strongly advise against supporting this establishment, as the messaging on the outside is offensive and does not create a welcoming environment.

The messages displayed outside are openly anti-Christian and filled with hate. Going to a place that openly despises Christians is exactly what you’ll experience inside: darkness, despair, and negativity. They overprice drinks and the atmosphere is devoid of honor, love, or genuine human connection. If you’re a tourist looking for a place that is quirky, welcoming, and has a positive, human vibe, I highly recommend Zlatna Ribica instead.

Very rude people. And very aggressive waiters. You have to stay in your 1 m circle or they come to complain. We paid 150€ and still we were treated like scum. Don’t come here if you are not local because they clearly don’t want foreigners! My girlfriend was scared like hell.

Okay. Intense, kind of underground club with a specific type of customer. The space is cool, but kind of stuffy and the music (the dj) is repetitive. Also, the Dj is constantly talking over the music, to the point of frustration (one of the DJs). Prices average going towards expensive. Worth a short visit, not longer than 45mins.

We had fun at the bar downstairs. It's a great place for lively Bosnian nights.

My friends and I arrived the club and the bouncer immediately said we can’t enter and was rather rude. They said that the club was full but as someone was exiting we noticed that it wasn’t full at all. Bouncer also seemed racist to us.

Very bad club because that security man who is the tallest and slim , he told me his name is Mohammed, with out mustache and beard was racist since I arrived and when I went to take my jacket, he asked for tip ( HADIA) as he said and when I said No he tried to fight me , anyway I will go to police today to tell that and the law is going to get my right after when they check the camera unless say sorry here 🎖 Very bad experience with Das ist Walter Club .

We were here on night of December 31st 2022/ January 1st 2023 😊. Good music and good experience of Sarajevo's underground scene.

The DJs were good. Entrance fee 10 marks, but you get a coupon for 2 marks off your first drink. Drink prices are fine (tequila shot for 5km, small beer 5km). Lots of smoke as promised by the name both from the smoke machine and cigarettes (my clothes smelled pretty bad afterwards).

On a Saturday night the place was almost dead until 0.30am, so we left. Ticket cost 10BAM and 2BAM could be deducted from the price of your drink. Cloakroom cost 1 BAM that you need to pay when you leave and most people did not use it. One whiskey + coke cost around 11BAM The bartender was nice. The music was monotonous and not ejoyable for me. People were also ok and the bouncer guy seemed to be in a good mood which was a good surprise.

Great night for our first event in 2023. Thanks to everyone who came and I hope you enjoyed in music. We see you again in July 2023.

Silver and Smoke and the patrons are pure, unadulterated joy! One of the best clubbing experiences of 2023. Terrific vibe with some of the most hospitable people I’ve met thus far. What I loved about the club was the aggressively loud sound system, the grit of the interior, and the dj booth art (I still believe it to have been the Glagolitic script painted on the front side of the booth and would appreciate a confirmation on it!) Bonjasky and Rajot played an all night long set for what seemed to be 6 hours. We left at dawn and they were still going. You can find their sets on Soundcloud if you are considering whether to visit and if you want to check out the general vibe. S&S is the place where you can turn on, tune in and drop out. Sound system is ok. Majority of people did not seem to care about music. Drinks are affordable. I listened to 2 DJs and selection between genres was a bit inadequate, The space was more like a bar with dance floor, rather than a techno club. There are tables all over the place, making dance floor even smaller in the small place, and making people attached to their spots. Overall, an interesting experience, but I expected more from supposedly one of the best raving nightclubs in Sarajevo

There is no heating and I left the club early.. dj was good but not many people.. I think management should change something to attract more clubbers, the club has very good potential

they throw decent parties but the space itself is in desperate need of a renovation. it smells like mold and the sound insulation is so bad, you can hear the vents vibrating.

One of the best museums/exhibits I’ve ever been to. I payed a little extra for the audio guide and I highly recommend doing that - it was very interesting and I learned so much. Definitely a must visit if you’re in Sarajevo!

We visited this place just before leaving Sarajevo. I liked the exhibition and the way of its presentation though tickets were quite expensive for a small space like this one. Also, we were informed that the tickets are for two days so we could come back the next day but I couldn’t understand the purpose of it as the gallery has only one permanent exhibition and one ongoing exhibition. Ongoing exhibition had very litte material & it was not going to change the next day. So sellimg tickets with 2-day access is something very time specific and not suitable for tourists. I think it would be a good option to have cheaper tickets for one visit only.

An immersive and touching exposition to tell the tale behind the Srebrenica genocide. The gallery goes beyond just showing pictures but tells the stories of those affected, making the experience more personal beyond the abstract statistics of the tragedy. Our tickets were valid for two days, which allowed us to listen to all the stories and watch all videos over multiple days. It can get heavy and intense to do everything at once. The audio guide is optional at the entrance but you absolutely have to take it.

A poignant and ever-relevant exploration of the key tragedies of the Bosnian war, punctuated with incredible and heart-breaking photography. I would recommend, if you have the time, taking advantage of the two-day ticket to fully digest the content of the Gallery. If possible, visit the gallery before fully exploring Sarajevo. A great way to contextualise the beautiful city in light of the conflict that decimated it just 30 years ago.

A very moving and profound experience visiting this space. If you only visit one place connected to the 92-95 war make sure it's here. The hope is in the fact that people will try and find a way to co-exist despite the terrible things they do to each other.

I visited this gallery of course to see the war photos, but also partially in order to avoid from the heat of July in Sarajevo. Hot and stuffy inside. Couldn't concentrate on the exhibition. If you take that much money for the entrance fee, you should at least provide the pleasant atmosphere - air condition.

Had the best brunch here! The owner and his wife run this place and they are a delight. So friendly! They played music especially for us and talked with us about football. It was a great time and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The savory crepes and toasted sandwich were delicious and so was the coffee. Will probably go back later to try the sweet crepes and see our new friends again!

The cafe is led by a very friendly family who is always ready to have a chat with the guests or just to give them hints about the city. This is the most amazing place to have a coffee or freshly squeezed cup of juice. The crepes and toasted sandwich is a great quick snack or light dinner. I will never go anywhere else. Everyone needs to go see them !!!!

The food is actually very good, the problem is the service which very often is rude or incompetent. Specifically the waitress with long dark hair that managed to be extremely rude and unprofessional with everyone in the restaurant while we were sitting the for 30 min. Atmosphere feels worn down and not very cozy anymore. It needs some good renovation and workforce restructure.

I've had lunch here a few times, and the main issue is the lack of consistency. Ordering the same dish on different days doesn't guarantee you'll get the same ingredients or preparation, the food varies quite a bit each time.

All I can say is if you are in Sarajevo and bored of local food this is a place to be at!! Grat food, (prices are a bit expensive) great service. Worth a checking out. Place is clean and nice. We will be back!

I opted for the tagliatelle with salmon during my visit. The dish had its highs and lows—the tagliatelle was flavorsome and satisfying. Unfortunately, the salmon was a bit of a disappointment, seemingly frozen and lacking in taste. However, the staff was incredibly pleasant and attentive, which enhanced the overall experience. Every time I visit Sarajevo, I come to this charming caffe. The view is lovely, but I come for a traditional dessert ŽITO SA ŠLAGOM. It is very rare and soooo delicious. The staff are amazing, the outside terrace offers a breathtaking view of Sarajevo.

Absolutely wonderful little café with a wonderful view of Sarajevo, a little hard to find on google maps when following but once you do you will not regret it the iced coffees are amazing and so are the hot drinks thr food options are wonderful too and the atmosphere is really cozy and neighbourly, and to add on the toilets are amazing and amazingly well kept for the male one I can say the free perfume and deodorant they offer is great and the staff is more than friendly all in all its an absolutely wonderful experience at the expense of climbing up to it but once you do it is trully worth it!

I had the brunch Sarajevo, which included eggs (your choice on preparation), Bosnian smoked meat, chicken, cheese, cold cuts, fresh tomatoes, adjvar, and sour cream. Great breakfast spot in the old town of Sarajevo!! Staff were super friendly and the food came out very quickly. I ordered the Eggs Royale with fresh orange juice. My wife ordered the Bosnian Breakfast with an iced coffee. Both of our orders were delicious. The view of the hills when sitting outside is amazing and the atmosphere in the Baščaršija, makes the experience all the more better. The inside of the shop is also nice - giving Mr Doodle vibes. Would definitely recommend and come back here again.

Tasted like free hostel breakfast. Honestly, I have no idea how this place has good reviews, it is literally the worst meal I have tasted in months. I ordered a caramel iced coffee which was genuinely just caramel sauce and milk, I couldn’t taste any sort of coffee flavour. Had to order an extra espresso shot on top of an already expensive (8KM) “coffee”. We ordered the Bosnian brunch which came with rubbery/overcooked eggs, dry stale bread and pretty terrible sausages. The Kajmak (cheese) was fine but the Ajvar was gone off and tasted really funky and made me feel a bit sick. Not great for a meal costing 12KM. The smoked meats and cheese were fine but tasted cheap and bad quality. Service was fine, not great or very friendly, but the waiter asked me for a tip when I was paying which left more of a bad taste (if that’s even possible) in my mouth. 0/10 do not go here, it’s a massive tourist trap, overpriced, poor quality, and the interior is honestly super tacky 😛 can’t believe I wasted money and stomach space on this food when there’s so much delicious amazing friendly Bosnian restaurants/breakfast places around

I was recommended coming here from Instagram and had looked forward to the esthetics and the food. The place is lovely. The food was good and so was the coffee and juice. The staff that work here are another story in itself. They come off as bored, entitled, rude and slow, they also seem more interested in engaging conversation with each other than helping the consumer. They also seem to be badmouthing the customers in Bosnian when they think they aren't looking or leaving. We had to ask twice for both the coffee we wanted, extra utensils and for an extra glass of water with our coffee (we only got one) the waiter we got was apparently too lazy get us another and commented "oh only one is needed I see" (that is a very unusual way to get your coffee here and for the price you are paying for a singular espresso you would think a glass of tap water was asking for too much). When he returned the provocative behavior continued and he felt the need to repeat again "and another pair of utensils, right?" After I had asked for this twice already; both when he got to our table and when I went inside after 15 minutes of waiting. I felt this commentary could have been spared. Unfortunately due to this staff we will not be returning, their behavior ruined our impression of Brunch SA. I therefore can not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else where they won't ruin your experience and take your money doing so.

One of my favorite place in Sarajevo. Food is delicious and so tasty. There is playground for children, and it's next to Vilson's promenade. Staff are so polite and professional, they will always meet you with smile. Waiter Tony is one of the best , well done . Prices are fair enough. Can't wait to come and chill again here.

Came out on a Friday night super excited for how much research we did on this place. Did our best to recognize how busy everyone must be who works here. So we waited - politely made eye contact with at least 4 employees as they passed us over and over again. Maybe they’re not the host, maybe it’s a sit as you find seating place, etc. So we asked a guest leaving how he was sat and he goes “that guy over there sat us”. So I tried to say hi to him several times - same experience. Hoping to just get some info I finally flagged him down and asked for a table for four - then the man who saw us waiting there, obviously new faces, multiple times as he passed us finally said “we’re full”. A busy evening doesn’t excuse you from being negligent when a simple acknowledgment will do.

This place is a time capsule; like it's name, it takes you to 80's Yugoslavia as you enter through the door. Yes, it's smoke-filled, yes it has inferior wine, yes this, yes that; but it also doesn't promise anything more than that. The guitarist guy playing over the backing tracks was definitely the highlight of this experience; without him, BE wouldn't be complete.

Balkan express is definetly a place you should visit in Sarajevo during any pub crawl, or just in case you want to grab a cold beer or rakija shot.There is a lot of 80's and 90's soul in this bar. During hot summer nights, covered in cigarette smoke and smell of rakija, you can see an old face of Yugoslavia spirit. ;)

WE LOVED IT HERE! 80s music, cosy vibe inside and out, really really cool. The owner is a legend. We tried 6 different rakija (not on one night haha). I recommend honey and cherry. You can also get beer of course! And other spirits, coffee, tea, etc.

Excellent bar, probably my favourite in Sarajevo. The beer tastes great and a good range of Rakia. Met 2 members of staff, both were really great and always willing to help. Good music and good atmosphere.

This is the bar you wish all bars were! Small, cosy, lights dimmed and many candles! Both inside and a small terrace. Drinks are cheap, 1.5€ for 0.5L beer! The atmosphere is great here, good music (jazzy) as well. Bartender is nice. Absolutely a must go to escape the crowd in the old center, it’s really nearby!

A unique look is what gives this place its charm. No matter how many times you visit, there will always be details you haven't notice before, as the place is a "hoarder's mecca". Decent for an after-work drink or a night out with friends. Not a pricey place. Smoking allowed.

I really like this cozy pub. Prices are ok and the snacks are good. The atmosphere is cool and chilled, with a vintage interior. In summer it's nice if you can catch a table outside. Good place for an after work beer.

Location wise, this place was excellent. The town center was a 10 minute walk and there are plenty of food options available and the museums, tourist attractions, bars etc. Konzum supermarket is a 7 minute walk away too. The workaway helpers can be a mix of being friendly or pretentious and some were way too young and inexperienced to troubleshoot issues and unable to make proper judgements and inflexible, also probably not versed with handling slightly older guests. Local staff- Sara and Edin were superb with recommendations and knew exactly what they were doing and would go out of their way to help which was a huge relief and it was definitely not walking on eggshells/cringing with the locals vs certain helpers when they were on shift. The hot water was dreadful- speed rushing in the private room to do a 3 minute quick shower before it ran out in the winter before it turned icy. Private room had a kitchen was extremely spacious. Bathrooms in the dormitory which I stayed a night was filthy in the basement and stunk at times and the bin was not cleared on certain days. At least there was proper heating! Smoking area was comfortable and the lounge was also nice. The owner was pleasant and definitely cool.

This is my third stay at this hostel. The owner and staff are very helpful. The rooms are clean and the kitchen equipment is useful. The location is very good, 5 minutes from the train station and the city center. The people staying there were very friendly. I couldn't make a reservation because my phone was broken the last time I went, but they still helped. Thank you for everything. I hope to see you next year.

This is very nice hostel near the old town and walking distance from the central area. I had private room and it was decorated nicely and had all the necessities. Didn't use the common areas but they looked good and the baf downstairs has really cheaper drinks.

Room did not could go fully dark. For showera you need to push a button every 20 seconds. Not very easy when you are using barsoaps. Overall i do recommend.

This hostel is amazing. The Staff and People made me feel like being at home. It is clean and Everything is arranged with love. Also recomment if you are solo travelling.

What can I say: it's a hostel. The proximity to the city is great and very useful. The staff were very friendly. But the social area being next to the bedrooms is painful, and I think the rooms are always a mixed bag based on who you are dormed with. In my case, I got unlucky, with other guests who would keep doors open, allowing the noise and light from the social area to come in and disturb my sleep (annoying when you have early tours to attend).

Such a great little bar - perfect to understand more about Sarajevo and Bosniaks. Jacko (apols, that's probably not the correct spelling) was interesting, courteous and so friendly and helpful. He even drove us to a restaurant he recommended. Which was excellent by the way! A total gent, and a cool dude as well. Strongly recommend.

The bar is really cute and small, they have cats, but the rest is meh. They play covers of songs, the people who work there are kinda mean when you talk to them( maybe not to tourists) and it's empty and boring.

Very disappointed. The bartender was initially very friendly and bringing the drinks. Once we needed to pay we noticed he was charging us more then prices on drinks menu. Once requested a bill he became more and more rude and angry. We paid and just left because other bartender came as well with same approach. DON’T RECOMMEND TO ANYONE PS. If owner is interested I have photo and name of 1 bartender.

We had a terrible experience here. My wife (a native Bosnian) and I had a meeting with a charming gentlemen aged 70+ years. We had a round of drinks outside, and paid the waitress. Then, a thunderstorm commenced so we decided to move inside and had another drink. The waitress then left to run an errand shortly after we paid her. We were intercepted by a very rude and aggressive barman saying 'you haven't paid for your drink'. We assured him we had paid, and he refused to believe us and blocked the exit. He then swore at our guest, using a local expression involving "mother's anatomy" (I'm sure Serbo-Croat speakers know what I mean). When the waitress returned from her errand and confirmed that we had, in fact, paid and he had misheard the exact opposite of her remark, he offered the most minimal apology imaginable. This is a complete contrast to the treatment I have enjoyed everywhere else in Bosnia in the last 20 years, and a shocking way to behave to customers 3x his age.

Sat down and ordered, few minutes after 6pm. There are no opening hours in Google and all bars in the alley were open. I ordered my drink, after two sips (so just a couple of mins later) the waitress dropped by that I have to pay now, right after that they shut down all lights. Really great Restaurant. The burger tasted really great. It’s als great for vegetarians beacause they serve vegetarian feed here like a vegetarian burger which I have eaten. They also have really great desserts. You can sit outside. What I really like about this Restaurant is that they serve many different Kinds of Beer from different country’s of the world. I have tried German beer that I don’t have tried before and I tried the beer from Republika srpska. Both beers tasted really great. I would recommend it if you are in Sarajevo.

Highly recommend for beer lovers. Almost forgot. Food, mostly snacks, hamburgers, also delicious. Just more wings flavours and I can live in there, my favorite snacks, I admit.

Ok so this place is a gem! Lovely quiet location, great prices, but really the service is what makes it special. Guy behind the bar was interested in what we liked, made suggestions for us, and then when he mixed the drinks you could tell he really cared. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

I visited 5 countries on my 2024 European trip and Aperitivo had some of the best cocktails hands down. Asad is a fantastic bartender and a welcoming owner. I doubt that you will find better cocktails in Sarajevo. Best of all, this cozy bar is located just a few minutes from the Eternal Flame and is very reasonably priced.

04-2025 we were in Sarajevo for the European Championships Taekwon-Do. After we are done we always visit a local cocktailbar. This time we found the Apertivo Bar. And it was a good choice. A small cosy bar with more then frindly bartender. He served very good and tasty cocktails

Gastro Pub Fabrika is one of the few places in the area that stays open a bit later and serves food, which is a plus. However, I had to work quite hard with the waitstaff to convince them I wanted to order food. Despite the kitchen being open, they initially hesitated, mentioning the kitchen might refuse. After a few attempts, they finally accepted my order, so persistence was needed. The staff were okay overall. The atmosphere is enjoyable, especially with Champions League games displayed, which adds to the vibe. However, like many places in Sarajevo, the smoking situation is intense, both inside and outside. You leave smelling heavily of cigarette smoke, which can be uncomfortable if you’re sensitive to it.

Good pub showing sports with decent beer. Fast service and fair prices with a good happy hour offering which unfortunately we had missed. They have smoking on the ground floor and non-smoking on the first floor which is a bonus if you are trying to avoid smokier bars. Very easy to order as they have an online menu which is translated into multiple languages.

Food was excellent on both visits. The prices are reasonable, they accept card for payment. Inside at night was very dark and hot (no air-conditioning?). The service was not great and the staff unfriendly. Could have been better.

To visit the 35 floor (Bar/coffee) is free. To go to the 36 floor & the observation deck costs 5 marka, £2.10. Superb views of the city. I have given it one star for atmosphere, as I was the only one there.

Caffe 35 is a nice detour after a view of the city. There are local and regional beers and wine. The prices are good. All in all, this is a great place.

Very interesting caffe with incredible view at entire city. We had thee, coffee, ice cream and som cakes. We were overall satisfied. Only minus was that the waiter forgot some item we ordered.

I didn't like the fact that there were many types of alcohol, and I really didn't know that until I came there. Long story short, the atmosphere is good, the view is amazing, but what I didn't like was that there was too much alcohol.

Their food is fantastic and service is excellent, but extremely confused on the business name and hours. This listing says they open at 10am/11am every day (as does the sign on their door), but I believe the other nearby listing of Burger Bar JEDI ME is the same place and that is the listing with accurate hours (opens 4pm). They should remove this listing and fix the door signage to avoid confusion. Still 5 stars though for the food and service.

I had a really great vegan Bosnian burger, the ingredients and bun were super fresh and the flavour was so good with the addition of the avjar. Service was also very friendly and attentive. I can imagine the place has a nice ambience later at night, it was pretty quiet when I went. Lots of beers available too!

This was a great disappointment. I was excited by all the 5* star reviews praising the "best burgers in the world", but either they are fake or I was really unlucky. First of all, it was 15 degrees inside at most and the atmosphere was dark and weird. I had to wear coat the whole time. The burger I got (Gigacheeseburger) had great meat patty, but the combination of cheeses didn't mix well and the overall taste was rather subpar. The grated cheese on top hadn't melted at all. The "premium fries" were obviously leftovers from the bottom of the package and thus very short and overfried. The whole serving didn't look good, as you can judge from the photos. Everything was served in a perforated aluminum bowl lined with a napkin, which began to decompose with oil and the bits stuck to the fries. I wouldn't be as critical, but this place aims to be the "best" of Sarajevo and charges a premium for that. That is why I would expect it to be way above all the other options, which is definitely not the case.

Great burgers in a dog-friendly, smoke-free environment. After struggling to find a dog-friendly restaurant that wasn’t full we came here & we weren’t disappointed, the owner & his family welcomed us & our two dogs in with the children fascinated by our Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. So refreshing to find such a place in the heart of Sarajevo. It’s a no-smoking restaurant which is also great. The very friendly owner informed us that at home they have 5 dogs that they’ve adopted from the Dogs’ Trust which is admirable. Please support this restaurant, the food is great & the owner & staff delightful!
