Ice cream shop
Matsumoto Shave Ice is a must-visit local institution on the North Shore, known for its exotic flavors and creative combinations. Visitors often line up to savor the legendary shave ice, which can be found in Haleiwa. The affordable prices and refreshing taste make it a popular choice among tourists exploring the area's attractions like Hukilau Market and Polynesian Cultural Centre.
Matsumoto Shave Ice is a North Shore legend, and visiting their iconic Haleiwa location feels like stepping into a piece of Hawaiian history. The vibes are unbeatable—colorful, laid-back, and full of aloha spirit. As for the shave ice itself: super refreshing, light, and fluffy with a great selection of tropical flavors. Add-ons like mochi, ice cream, and condensed milk take it up a notch. That said, we’re giving it 4.5 stars for the shave ice alone—while it’s really good, we’ve had slightly finer textures elsewhere. Still, the experience, location, and friendly staff make the whole visit a 5-star moment overall. Definitely worth the drive and the hype!
Sardor A — Google review
This shaved ice place was recommended to us by a couple people. MATSUMOTO is quite sn impressive opperation. The long line moves fast and the price is 1/2 of my favorite shaved ice place, but the syrup on our strawbery and coconut had a chemical taste and neither resembled the flavors we requested. Also the ice wasnt as finely shreded as my favorite shaved ice place only a few miles south.
Ryan S — Google review
Sure, it’s a tourist must-do, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious or memorable. The ice is perfectly fluffy, the flavors are legit (not syrupy fake), and the variety of toppings is impressive. I went all-out and ordered the most expensive item on the menu...ice cream, azuki beans, mochi, condensed milk, you name it... and it still only set me back about seven bucks. In a state where "tourist pricing" is the norm, this place is shockingly fair. Friendly service, fast lines, and a treat that actually feels like Hawaii. Totally worth the stop, and a place I’d come back to again (and again). One of the few truly "iconic" spots that deserves the crowds. (See my photo for proof—this is what $7 gets you!)
Randall K — Google review
Wow this place gets PACKED! We ended up here after our last minute drive around the island. ATMOSPHERE: They're an old school grocery store that is known for their shave ice. Not SHAVED, just shave. You'll probably encounter a super long line at the entrance. Don't be alarmed, there's no natural disaster coming, it's the demand for their infamous Hawaiian dessert treat. SHAVE ICE: Grape My ultimate favorite flavor where ever I go. The ice is chunkier than say Ululani's, and that's how I like it. I opted for vanilla ice cream at the bottom because it makes it all that much better. I also got a squeeze of condensed milk on the top but I'm not a fan of it because it's too sweet for me. It comes in an easy to hold cup that also prevents a melting, drippy mess. SERVICE: When the line gets long, a worker comes through the line to take orders to try and speed up service. Everyone was friendly. OVERALL: This is the ultimate Hawaiian shave ice style, nice and chunky. No fine powder dust for me!
Maui T — Google review
We indulged today and tried this hidden treasure! The line moved swiftly and the shaved ice was good! Plenty of options to choose from. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere/ surrounding area was just what you think of when you think Hawaii!
David S — Google review
The shave ice is so refreshing and perfectly sweet, with flavors that really stand out—each bite is full of tropical goodness. I loved the chewy mochi pieces mixed in; they add a fun, satisfying texture that makes the treat even more enjoyable. It was also fun to eat right next to chicken, which adds to the classic local experience. The store itself is cute and charming, with that iconic Hawaii vibe that makes you feel like you’re really on island time.
Duyen — Google review
My first shave ice!! The line was long, but they get people through the line pretty quickly! I got a small with all of the toppings and did one flavor. A small is definitely enough from one person. So much depth and flavor to the shave ice since there are different layers to experience! This is known to be one of the best shave ice on the island and I totally see why. Delicious!
Christine E — Google review
This was my first time here, and I can tell it's a super popular spot with tourists. The line was pretty long when we got there. Luckily, they have pictures and QR codes for the menu, so you can figure out what you want before you order. They have tons of flavors and combos, and you can add extra toppings if you want. The shave ice was good, but heads up: the condensed milk makes it really sweet. Otherwise, it's a great place to grab a sweet treat. I'll totally go back next time I'm on the island.

Haleʻiwa Bowls is a charming thatched kiosk located in the historic surf town of Haleiwa on the North Shore of Oahu. It offers custom acai bowls, juices, smoothies, and cold-brew coffee. The decadent and energizing concoctions are not only delicious but also visually appealing.
Haleiwa Bowls – Fresh, Delicious, and Safe! Stopped by Haleiwa Bowls and tried a bowl with a base of banana, peanut butter, and dates — and it was heavenly! Everything tasted super fresh and high quality. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. As someone who’s pregnant and extra cautious about eating raw foods, I really appreciated how safe and clean everything felt. Bonus: it was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.
Priyangi V — Google review
We visited Haleʻiwa Bowls on a Sunday morning around 10 AM, and it was packed — clearly a very popular spot! The outdoor seating area is super nice, surrounded by plants and trees, giving it a very natural and relaxing vibe. You’ll even see chickens wandering around, which adds to the authentic Hawaiian atmosphere. We first ordered a large $16 bowl to share, and it was so fresh and delicious that we actually went back and ordered two more small bowls afterwards. The flavors were natural, refreshing, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. The place attracts people of all ages, but we noticed a lot of young people hanging out and enjoying their bowls. Overall, we loved the experience and would definitely come back. Fresh ingredients, great flavors, and such a cool, lively spot in Haleʻiwa. Highly recommended! 🌺🥥🍓
Dolca C — Google review
The best açaí bowls on O‘ahu! The ingredients taste fresh and the portions are generous. Plus, they're served cold enough to hold up in the heat without melting too quickly. The only downside is the limited parking; there are only 3-5 stalls, but spots usually turn over quickly if you arrive before 11am!
Daisy L — Google review
Best acai bowl I've had on the island. Excellent portion size and everything in the bowl including the base is fresh. I've had bowls elsewhere on the island and the smoothie base is frozen, which is harder to eat as it doesn't melt fast enough. The staff are so friendly and do a great job at making the bowls. A definite treat on a hot summer day.
Majury A — Google review
This bowl hit the spot! Got the Hapa acai bowl, the fruit was all fresh and delicious. Got peanut butter on top which was a perfect addition. The large size goes fast! I really enjoyed the granola too. Atmosphere is cute, with chicken and birds roaming, hoping to get some stray dropped fruit
Maria P — Google review
Hale’iwa bowls is a favorite spot of mine to stop after a day on the north shore, especially after spending time in the hot sun and the salty ocean. A delicious treat. It’s super popular and their parking is tiny so I suggest parking elsewhere and walking down to their spot. Although you’ll see a lot of people waiting on their bowls, the girls behind the bar are super quick and it’s well worth the wait.
Lisa N — Google review
Both Açai bowl and their cold brew are great. The fruit they used for the toppings are super fresh. All staffs are nice. The only downside is they don’t have table seating. Only some benches for the customers to seat.
Doris T — Google review
We have tried several açaí bowls while on the island. These are hands down the best. Everything was so fresh & the açaí was so smooth. And the fresh coconut SO VERY yummy!!

IL Gelato Cafe Haleiwa is a modern cafe with a focus on breakfast and brunch, as well as outdoor seating. They serve authentic gelato from Italy and have several dairy-free options of sorbetto. The coffee is good, but the prices are high.
Cute little place tucked away in a small out of the way shopping center. We were looking for a little treat to top off our late lunch/ early dinner, when we gps'd "ice cream." Much to our surprise we found IL Gelato! Cute, clean, cordial, and yummy! We sampled the different flavors -- snickers, mint chocolate chip, chocolate, and lemon. . . the best one! And those homemade waffle cones. . . so light and thin and crips! Good thing we live far from IL Gelato or we would be there a lot more than we need to!-- Sorry someone couldn't wait to snap a shot before they dug in! Thanks to Jacinda for great service!
Aunty O — Google review
Great spot for some quality gelato! I got the waffle cone dipped in chocolate with cheesecake and Snickers—so good. My boyfriend had the waffle cup with Kona coffee and cookie dough, and everything was absolutely delightful. For a Friday night, it wasn’t too busy, which made the experience even better. The space was clean, trendy, and super cute. We’ll definitely be coming back!
G W — Google review
If you're looking for Gelato, this is your place. They have a good supply of different flavors ready for you to experience. The staff were friendly and quick to take our orders. I enjoyed a scoop of Kona and scoop of peanut butter chocolate. Yummy! The place was clean. They had indoor or outdoor seating as well. There were chickens as well as a resident cat sleeping on the bench. Some of the chickens can be a little territorial.

Such a fun stop on the island! Great menu of delicious sweets. Quality is exceptional. The espresso was wonderful! Great customer service and even better sweets! 🍫🍦🍨
Raffi W — Google review
Welp my goodness this place is a great after the water snack. My partner wanted something sweet and with us being from Texas we wanted DQ Blizzard. But of course that place does not exist on the Island and I am perfectly fine with that. Best home made Gelato I have EVER TASTED. Mahalo.....Best Gelato
Eva C — Google review
So, not only is this little spot adorable, They serve a variety of crepes, Belgian waffles, acai bowls, coffee drinks, gelato and more! The atmosphere has a tropical feel and the staff is always welcoming and friendly. If you're in Haleiwa, add this stop to your list! Aloha!

Cute location with a comfortable vibe. All the staff were super friendly and helpful when my daughter and I were trying to pick out our Gelato for our acai bowls. The Gelato is amazingly delicious!! So yummy!
DeJaye — Google review
This place is absolutely amazing! The food is always top-notch, the workers are always incredibly friendly. The store manager, Jacinda, has even published a coloring book, which kept my daughter entertained while we waited for our hot food. The banana bread is super delicious, and I couldn’t resist adding a scoop of vanilla gelato on the side. It was the perfect combo! This has quickly became my favorite brunch spot. I highly recommend this place!

Waialua Bakery & Juice Bar is a charming bakeshop and deli that offers a variety of sandwiches, vegetarian options, smoothies, teas, and acai bowls made from fresh ingredients grown on their farm in Waialua. The bakery is known for its delicious sandwiches, with the Avocado on a jalapeno bun and Crazy Nut being highly recommended.
BEDT AÇAI BOWL I HAVE EVER HAD! Açai bowls were amazing, so fresh and delicious! The plantation iced tea was a 10/10, star fruit lemonade was super sour but so tasty with a bit of sugar 8/10. Lots of options and so fresh and local!!

Best little lunch spot on Oahu? Delicious, unpretentious sandwiches and super fresh juices—plus homemade baked goods, a comfy patio, and lots of local charm. Not exactly hidden, but definitely a gem!

We had The Works, Chicken Avocado, Chicken and Cheese, peanut butter shake, banana shake, strawberry lemonade and EVERYTHING was amazing!! Little hole in the wall places like this either make everything from frozen or from love... This place is all love. It tastes amazingly fresh and well balanced. I would eat here daily if I lived here. Holy cow it's good!!

Very cute and quaint juice/smoothie place with great food options. Just got a starfruit lemonade and cookie but both were delicious and the staff was very kind. Highly reccomend checking them out. Super reasonable prices as well.

The BEST banana bread I’ve ever had. Such a cute little shop with plenty of seating, welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, great service and very affordable prices. The banana bread was just $3, cookies were $1 each. A must-visit if you’re coming to Oahu even if you come up the north shore just for this!!

Sandwich I got was great, as well as the smoothie, everything tasted so fresh. Nice laid back atmosphere and amazing freshly baked goods also.
Eric H — Google review
We were referred to this cute “local” place by Holly at North Shore Soap Factory (another great place to visit). We were told that Waialua Bakery has great sandwiches (all fresh ingredients) and is owned by a local family. The menu provided us with an abundance of choices for sandwiches, but the Açaí bowl caught our attention. We also ordered the “hunk” of bread. The Açaí bowl was delicious and included granola and fresh banana. The hunk of bread had two toppings - cinnamon and honey (delicious) and extremely generous portions. The employee who assisted us was very friendly and helpful with guiding us with our options. I look forward to going back and trying other items.
Lori G — Google review
Delicious sandwiches for a reasonable price! We discovered the bakery by chance as it’s tucked away to the side of the building. I ordered the Hungry Hawaiian and ate it over two meals (the sandwich was huge, at least for me!). The bread was fresh and packed with chicken, bacon and veggies. Will definitely revisit next time I’m in Haleiwa!

LOVE this cute coffee shop, the decoration, and the drink options were very good. I got the Da Kine Ice coffee because a friend of mine recommended and I am glad I listened to him cause it was super good, hubby got the Coconator since he loves coconut but he didn't like it, it did not taste like coffee in it more like milk with flavor. Overall, he had a great experience, an absolutely beautiful shop.

Selling their brand name coffee in the main store with a side area of plenty screened indoor & outdoor seating. The espresso won’t blow your socks off but you can’t beat the price & atmosphere. Lots of variety of baked goods with both vegan and GF options. I recommend for the great patio atmosphere 🤙🏼

Just checked this out while waiting for our brunch food to be served nearby and i was surprised by how good their coffee is! I also got some chocolates and they were good as well! Coffee price are not too bad although the chocolates were kinda pricey
Christine E — Google review
We absolutely loved this spot while visiting Oahu. Besides good coffee, a very cute shop, yummy baked goofs & the sweetest staff, what I enjoyed the most was the beautiful area they have next door to relax and enjoy your goodies. Beautiful murals in gorgeous lush surroundings. I didn't find a nicer coffee shop setting while on the island. I could have sat around all day. You can sit inside or outside, both are great. There's also some seating right out front on picnic tables. They have the cutest little coffee bean plushy mascot (more on that later). My husband had some espresso & I enjoyed a latte. I also tried a macadamia lilikoi bar. It was delicious and reminded me of a tart. I wasn't paying attention to it while talking to my hubby, and a local chicken got to it, so I recorded a few of its little pecks before getting removing it, but it was delicious while it lasted. My husband says they were also playing great music and he really enjoyed it. I really appreciated that they had a lot of sampler bags to pick from. We bought several to try when we got back to the mainland, and we loved them all. I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a good coffee shop on the North side of the island. After trying all the samples we got while on the island, I picked my favorite blend and decided to order some from their website to have at home. I placed the order and was shocked at how quickly it was delivered, especially around the holidays. I ordered the big bag of my favorite and also ordered a sample size of the Christmas blend. I was so surprised and the love & care that went into the package that I received at home. It reminded me of my experience on the island and brought it all back to us. What an awesome way to connect people back to those memories! Kuddos to Coffee Gallery & their staff. There was a handwritten thank you note inside, along with a free sample bag of their Ha espresso blend (which my husband loved when he had it at the shop), a Coffee Gallery tote, a Keychain, AND one of their little coffee bean mascot plushies! I told you more to come on that. While there, I REALLY wanted to buy one because they were so darn cute, I LOVE coffee & thought it would look really cute in my coffee corner at home. But, I didn't buy it and regretted it when I got home & didn't have this cute little guy in my coffee spot. Well, they solved that problem for me! Will keep visiting every time we go back. Y'all are in our hearts forever! Mahalo ❤️

Fantastic coffee shop with pastries on Northshore. It’s in the Northshore Market plaza toward the back. Coffee is Amazing, I had the surfer burrito, really solid for a snack. The store is very clean the staff is really nice and knowledgeable. There was a little line but it moves fast. They have a little room off to the side and an outside patio area. Café Haleiwa is a popular spot for a hearty breakfast, offering a variety of options from classic eggs and bacon to pancakes and healthy yogurt granola bowls. For lunch, visitors can enjoy Killer Tacos, Konos, or Grass Skirt Grill. Located in the historic Haleiwa town with its plantation-era buildings, this landmark country town has preserved its historical charm amidst modern changes.
I wanted to share my recent experience at Cafe Haleiwa, a charming local café with a genuine Surfside Hawaiian ambiance. This spot is perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the local culture. At Cafe Haleiwa, you place your order at the counter and then take a seat to be served. It's worth noting that if you're in a hurry, this might not be the best choice, but the leisurely pace adds to its authentic charm. For breakfast, I opted for the country breakfast with French toast. It was a delightful choice! The French toast came sprinkled with sugar, and I decided to add some bananas on top – they were absolutely fantastic. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the eggs were flavorful and cooked to perfection. Overall, it was a great experience that truly captured the essence of the local vibe. My wife chose the huevos rancheros, and of course, I had to give them a try. They were delicious and had an authentic Mexican taste, albeit with a unique twist that made them stand out. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by Cafe Haleiwa for a taste of the local flavor and a relaxing breakfast experience. If you’re in a rush, this might not be the place for you. It is a truly laid-back traditional North Shore Hawaiian experience
Kevin K — Google review
Great place to grab some Hawaiian breakfast - eggs with spam, banana pancakes Portuguese sausage and waffles. I had an omelette with bacon, cheese and asparagus. The French toast was a little tough on the crust. The food was delicious. The service was friendly. No team bathroom - a porta potty.

Outdoor seating which I had no idea behind the cafe where you can pretty much chill around. The food was very good with the amount of spice.

Always one of our stops up to North shore Food is delicious, prices are very reasonable, especially considering it's North shore. This time went with a local Portuguese omelette and the breakfast in a barrel. Service is always kinda slow, but they make everything fresh so it's really not bad considering.

We are a group of 6 ppl, we came here during the week for breakfast around 10am. You order at the counter then they give you a number to place on your table that you choose to sit at. We were served our food within 20 mins of ordering. Food tasted average. Customer service was very nice. Atmosphere was nice, bathroom is a port a john that is outside. Small parking lot in the back, we had to park down the street.

Cosy local cafe with awesome breakfast under $20 each. Fresh fruit juice from Govinda.
Andi B — Google review
The whole time I've been here in Oahu I've been mostly unimpressed with the food. I wouldn't even say this cafe is truly impressive, but I would throw my life on the line to say it's solid as hell. Everything on this island is tourist thirsty in my experience so far, and that's probably because so many people are vying for the same attention and profit tourism brings. You can't really blame em, but that's a whole nother story. But not this place. It felt like a regular cafe/diner situation. The girl working the register had sweetheart pouring off of her, which was also nice. It felt genuine. Im tempted to say the food was terrible just to keep other folks from ruining it for me next time I want to swing by, but that would be a sacrilege to this fine establishment. The food was good. The price was good. The staff were good. If you want to complain about the parking then stay home. It sucks everywhere here so get used to it. Me and my wife got the spam and eggs local. It was good. 5/5 goldblooms
Jacob S — Google review
If I could give zero stars I would. Me and my husband came in around 10:45, I didn’t get my food until 30-40 minutes later. We waited a little longer and realized my husbands food was missing. I went back up to ask about it and the cashier forgot his food completely so we were only charged for my meal. I politely asked for a refund and the manager was super rude about it and didn’t even care to understand the situation. We only got refunded for my meal, when it should have been both meals because of the wait time and the experience. Not to mention the food was mediocre at best and we wasted over an hour and a half sitting in this restaurant.

Bakery
Paalaa Kai Bakery is a must-visit bakery specializing in malassadas, Portuguese donuts, and their original pastry, the snow puffy. Located near Alii Beach Park, this hidden gem offers delicious treats like Sadas Malasadas, chocolate croissants, and pineapple turnovers. Despite its unassuming location next to a gas station, the bakery's efficient service and delectable pastries have earned it a top spot among local bakeries.
A friend of mine told me, Bro you gotta stop at this place, yes or yes not option, please wake up early a get some snow puffy. Waking up wasn't an issue because of the central time difference I was already awake. The bakery was about 14 min from where I was staying so I decided to give it a try and there. To my surprise, it was only 8 am and the place had a line outside already, it was a very small bakery. I got the normal glaze donut with chocolate, a malasada with cream, Long John, and the famous Snow Puffy. I couldn't wait to get home and try it since my friend hit the pace very high. When I got the first bit I couldn't believe how delicious it was that thing, this was by far the most delicious pastry I had on the island, those snow puffy were so good, I will give them a 10/10. I am glad I listened to my friend and stopped by, this place was so good.
Jorge M — Google review
Very authentic store. The ladies were so sweet. We really loved the plain malasadas and it’s definitely based on choice. While we don’t like cream filled, they were the best we tried on the island. So, if you want to try, find the one that you like most!!!
Natalie P — Google review
These snow puffies were such a treat! The cream inside is rich and delicious, and the sweetness is perfectly balanced--not overly sugary at all. We only ordered three at first because we weren't sure what to expect, but after tasting them, we instantly wished we had gotten more. The flavor is wonderfully light yet savory, making them absolutely addictive. We'll definitely be back for more, and I'd highly recommend trying them if you're in the area

Local favorite bakery with their signature snow puffies! This is a small bakery that doesn't have seating, but you can take your pastries or food to-go and eat near the beach. There are not a lot of parking spaces in front of the store but you can park around the street.
Nate C — Google review
I heard about this place from several sources - so I had to stop here to get a snow puffy (actually two). The bakery was intimate and the staff were very nice. Definitely worth a stop to try one! I also grabbed a dozen donut holes to go!
Thomas C — Google review
Always come up here to get some snow puffs. Got the cute little aunties working the counter. They have a thing where you can win the jackpot (one free dozen snow puffs) by checking your receipt. If the seconds on the receipt match your birthday day, you win. And guess what. I won! Show your ID and sign the paper to claim. Sure might be a tourist trap. But you'll see locals out here too (:

Simple, basic, and off the usual tourist path...where all great food is made with love. The custard malasada is worth the drive. 10/10! Will make a special trip next time I'm on Ohau! Just FYI, no indoor seating. Simple bakery next to a convenience store but there are a few benches outside. Great for grab and go on your way

Hawaiian restaurant
Haleiwa Seafood is a popular spot in the heart of Haleiwa Town, offering a diverse selection of fresh seafood dishes with a Hawaiian twist. The Coconut Mahi Plate, featuring coconut-crusted mahi-mahi with locally grown mixed greens and fries drizzled with tartar sauce, is a standout favorite. Additionally, the establishment serves drinks in pineapples and coconuts for an authentic tropical experience.
If you love Japanese spicy mayo, you'll love this place. The ahi katsu was positively drowning in sauce, and tasted fantastic. I also highly recommend a side of coconut shrimp... you won't find a deal like this for shrimp this good in many places.
Uossɐlɔ L — Google review
I visited on August 10, 2025. It’s great that the dish comes with a salad! I felt like it could have used a bit more lemon. The sauce, which reminded me of sriracha mayo, paired really well. I would have preferred white rice instead of French fries.
Takeyuki N — Google review
Hands down one of the best seafood meals I've ever had! I ordered the combo with mahi and beer-battered crispy shrimp, and asked if they could substitute the fried fish for grilled instead. They were happy to accommodate, and the fish came out grilled to perfection--charred just right on the outside and juicy in the middle. The plate also came with their homemade chili and aioli sauce, which was absolutely amazing--creamy, tangy, and packed with flavor. Even the side salad of mixed greens was fresh and a nice balance to the seafood. I prefer more items on the salad like tomatoes, cucumber or shredded carrots. The service was just as good as the food. The front desk lady who took my order was communicative, attentive, and had such a great attitude. She even checked with the chef to make sure my substitution was possible. There are a few chairs and tables set up in front of the food truck where you can sit and enjoy your meal, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you're in Oahu and would like to try some quality seafood!

Food was incredible! We ordered the fish and chips and coconut shrimp and being from the UK where fish and chips are our bread and butter we weren't too sure what to expect. Mahi tastes way nicer than cod and the coconut shrimp were incredible! And it was reasonably priced!
Steve M — Google review
Stopped by here on a quiet Monday night around 7, plenty of parking right nearby. We both had the Mahi fish+chips full portion. Absolutely fantastic, nice crispy batter. Fresh Mahi, and good chips. Super reasonable prices too, full Mahi+chips plate pictured here was $15. 10/10, will definitely come back

Sweet As is a charming, family-owned ice cream shop that offers a unique way of preparing their delicious treats. Customers can choose their preferred size, fruit, and ice cream base, which are then mixed together using an innovative New Zealand-inspired machine. The result is a creamy and flavorful ice cream with real fruit pieces. Located on the North Shore of Oahu, the shop provides a delightful experience with its clean environment and friendly staff.
BEST ICE CREAM IN NORTH SHORE! I got a raspberry coconut one and it was impeccable. Creamy but still sprinkled with raspberries that added to the texture. Sweet but not too sweet- probably perfect amount of sugar. The flavor was immaculate and enhanced the normal raspberry taste. Service was incredible as well and the concept is super fun!
Mila K — Google review
It’s the best ice cream around North Shore for me! I ordered Keiki ( Kids in Hawaiian ) Lilikoi ( Passion fruit in Hawaiian) and frozen yogurt. It was very refreshing taste. It was a perfect moment especially it was hot outside! The server was friendly. I totally recommend here!
Yun — Google review
One of my favorite places on North Shore to get a sweet treat. They have a unique way of serving the ice cream so it’s a place I recommend to everyone. They let you choose the type of ice cream and a fruit, then they put it through a funnel press which pushed the ice cream fruit mixture into a cup or cone. The result is a frozen yogurt soft consistency but with an ice cream rich flavor. If you have a food allergy, they also make sure not to use the same press for non berry and berry fruits.
Justin K — Google review
One man, 2 scoops. One waffle cone at a time, slaying through a line of hungry, sun‑kissed souls like it was nothing. The line looked intimidating, but blink twice and suddenly I was holding the best ice cream + waffle cone combo of my life. Hunter deserves a medal, a vacation, and maybe a statue in front of Sweet As. He kept the vibe light, the line moving, and every customer walking away smiling (and let’s be real, probably drooling a little). The ice cream? Creamy perfection. The waffle cone? Crispy, golden aloha in edible form. Together? A love story Shakespeare could never write. Mahalo, Sweet As, you’ve officially ruined all other ice cream for me. I’ll be back, probably too often.
Adam — Google review
Loved the story of this family and their ice cream! Thank you for taking this naturally flavored fruit ice cream concept from New Zealand to Oahu. The fruity flavors were so fresh and refreshing. We got the strawberry and mango and loved them both. The gal making orders was still kind and quick late into her shift, even with a long line at the end of the night. Nice work!

Monday, 7/28/2025 - Tried "Sweet As Ice Cream co". Address is 62-620 Kamehameha Highway, Haleiwa, HI 96712. Small cute little ice cream shop using real fruits. We got coconut pineapple ice cream, strawberry banana ice cream, and strawberry vanilla ice cream and all were perfect. Wasn't over sweet. And you can taste the fruits in the ice cream. The young girl behind the counter was so patient with us as we were making our decision.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful dessert experience in Oahu, look no further than Bananza! This charming spot specializes in fresh, perfectly textured chocolate-dipped bananas that are made to order. Each treat is a unique creation, with options like the Scout—a frozen banana coated in crushed graham crackers and topped with melted marshmallows—offering a nostalgic s'mores flavor. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making every visit enjoyable.
My new favorite dessert spot in Haleiwa! The people working are always super nice and helpful! The banana size is huge and I love the variety of toppings. My favorite has been the one with biscoff cookie crumbs on it. Love this place and I would definitely recommend it!

Took a while to get my banana. Was it worth it? We’ll see. Still waiting. The girl in the banana stand is doing a wonderful job. If you ask me, she is overworked. However… there is always money in the banana stand. Happy banana-ing!
Carter F — Google review
I bought the Scout, which was a frozen chocolate dipped banana on a stick, and coated in crushed gram crackers and topped with melted marshmallows. It tasted just like a smore, a popsicle, and a banana, all in one. 🍌💯 I suggest that the owners implement payment with the Banano cryptocurrency.

Aoki's Shave Ice is a family-operated spot located in Oahu, just across the street from Matsumoto. It has been run by four generations of the same family and offers a cool and welcoming atmosphere. The place is known for its ultra finely shaved ice and a wide variety of flavors to choose from. Locals often debate between Aoki's and Matsumoto, but Aoki's stands out for its delicious shave ice without the long wait.
My favorite shave ice on the island. Never disappoints. Their syrups aren’t overly sweet, which I prefer. Gotta get with ice cream & cream drizzles mochi balls are a nice choice too!
Joni M — Google review
The flavors of the shaved ice here are delicious. I got a large and shared it with my two kids, and it was plenty big. My husband got the rootbeer float shake, and we were both obsessed with it, and still talk about how delicious that was now, a month later. Great place to visit if you're in the area. We did struggle to find parking. We ended up parking a bit away and walking to the place. In my opinion it was worth the effort though.
Jennifer L — Google review
Hole in the wall type place and very delicious, no need to be making line across the street. This shave is so good! Add all the toppings, those are yummy, too.
Andrea K — Google review

RGV_Recommends — Google review
Hubby and I were in the North Shore downtown area and wanted to try something different than the ever famous Matsumotos, and Aoki's was recommended on Amanda & Felix's YouTube channel. We got the North Shore shave ice (mango, lilikoi, guava with li hing mui) and added mochi. The flavors went well together and weren't overly sweet. Only thing was that the mochi wasn't as soft as other places. The staff were friendly and they have a nice patio area with holders to enjoy your treat. Try them out if you're in the area!
Carissa C — Google review
My family and I really enjoyed our experience here. I have always been one to stick to places that I really enjoyed in the past. This way, I know I will get great food and service. However, one of my daughters insisted we try Aoki's Shave Ice, so we agreed. This was the first time for most of my family, and all of us really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this spot! The shave ice and toppings are amazing, and the price is reasonable.

Haleiwa Shave Ice is a must-visit dessert spot on the north shore of Honolulu, highly recommended by locals and tourists alike. The generous portions and delicious flavors make it worth the drive, even surpassing other famous shave ice spots in the area. Despite being messy and sticky, the experience is described as heavenly and refreshing. The Hawaiian special is particularly loved for its taste and portion size.
The shaved ice tasted fine here. It’s a cash-only shop but the ATM is only a 2 minute walk so it’s not an issue.
Doua M — Google review
Service was great and atmosphere was awesome but it was not what I was expecting for shave ice. It was basically like a snowcone which was not what I wanted. Find a better shave Ice place because this is not it. I was hoping for real fruit flavors and got none of that.
Stephanie B — Google review
My family and I just spent $66 here and the service was terrible . From the moment we walked up to order the lady’s energy was off. No greeting just a backhanded smile and barely said anything. Our shave ice had barely any toppings, the ice was so chunky, and surprisingly they were bland which idek how you do that to shaved ice… I don’t care to leave reviews but the fact that we just spent $66 for terrible service AND bad shave ice is unacceptable. I should’ve read the reviews on this place beforehand.
Koa H — Google review
READ THE OTHER REVIEWS!!! The service here is terrible. I don't understand why since they don't have hardly any customers. We saw a car get towed within minutes of watching a couple leave to get money from the atm. They must own that towing company to compensate for their poor service and no sales. It makes sense since no one is buying the tasteless shaved ice. Definitely avoid this place and walk over to MATSUMOTO'S shaved ice. The staff there are nice, friendly and quick. Don't be discouraged by the line, it moves fast.
Stephanie R — Google review
It was our first time to the North Shore and we wanted to stop for Shave Ice. We had the best experience, great customer service and the Shave Ice was amazing. We wanted the works so my whole family ordered the Pineapple Express. It was so creamy and delicious which also included coconut jelly. We’ll definitely be back for more the next we’re in Hawaii.
Raylene U — Google review
STAY AWAY!!! If I could give a zero I would!!! Stopped to get hawai’in ice. They only take cash so they had a sign hanging on their plexiglass counter (which, why do they need a plexiglass wall in a hawai’in ice place unless you are a scammer) to go to the ATM for cash. While doing this, they have a tow truck stored on the other side of the parking lot, behind a gate under a carport and they have a young guy on the lookout. Once they see you leave the ice store , they immediately tow you. It happened to an Australian couple an hour before they scammed us! They then take your car 10miles away and make you pay $185 IN CASH to get your car back. Oddly enough, our check engine light on the rental is now on after they took our car. HI state law requires towing companies to offer all forms of payment, so if you were towed and had to pay cash, contact the consumer protection agency and report the crime! They take advantage of unsuspecting tourists! DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY $185 for the illegal tow! Dude behind the chain link fences watches, worker in shaved ice place directs customers to go to ATM and bam, your car is gone! To top it off, they do crappy towing service and messed up the entire rental car we had. Idk if it was during the tow or after I called the police and was yelling what awful humans they are and they did something to it intentionally…..either way, they will be held liable since it was not a legal tow nor are they a law abiding towing business!!
Alexa R — Google review
I understand that shave ice is a requisite dessert to have on the north shore, and this is my stop every time I make this drive. I do not know what coconut jelly is. It looks like little translucent maggots. Don't be scared. It's heavenly!!!! Very messy, very sticky, very mouthwatering and refreshing, this over the top mess is worth the drive!
Marj1st — Google review
Just go wait in the line at Matsumoto. We used to go here years ago and it was great with lots of options. Now it looks like a front and based on the other reviews and the car I saw get towed, I think it might be. The lady working was rude and acted put out that we were there (maybe because I didn't park in their lot). The price is double compared to others, cash only, and a very limited selection now. They don't even have size options. Our order came out wrong, even though we were the only customers waiting. I definitely wouldn't risk parking in the lot if you do stop here.

When you find yourself on the North Shore, a visit to North Shore Shave Ice is an absolute must! This delightful spot offers a refreshing escape after a day at Sharks Cove. With ample parking and plenty of seating, it’s perfect for unwinding while enjoying their massive portions of perfectly shaved ice. The flavor options are extensive, and don’t miss out on drizzling condensed milk over your treat for that extra touch of sweetness.
Ideal location for when you are done with Shark’s Cove to come by and cool down! Parking lot has many spaces available for you as well, so need to worry if you want to just in from your travels as well. Shaved Ice was consistent with top quality, as the flavoring was numerous in choices. The ice itself was not heavy, nicely shaved to perfection. Portions are HUGE, so get ready to share as well. Worth getting the condensed milk drizzled on top as it adds an element of deliciousness to it. I would highly recommend the tropical mango flavor. Seating is big as well under umbrellas and canopies….get ready for the friendly chickens that roam to pester you a bit; they are harmless though.

This is a must visit spot if you’re looking for Shaved Ice while on the North Shore. Some great desert options, but the Local is super flavorful, colorful, and a huge portion easily enough for two. Plenty of seating and parking, and your view is of the waters and Shark Cove so it’s a great spot to chill after swimming or before.

Somewhat expensive shaved ice but it was solid after snorkeling. There are a lot of wild chickens in the food area, some bees by the tables too because of the melted shaved ice. Got stung by mosquitoes here.

Kaimana Shave Ice is a must-visit spot on the North Shore, offering all-natural shave ice made from real fruit and homemade ice cream. You can choose from their original creations or customize your own. If you're hesitant about the lines at other shave ice shops, Kaimana Shave Ice is a great alternative to try out. The flavors are amazing, and the toppings are delicious, with macadamia nut ice cream being a favorite among many visitors.
We’ve been told that we have to, have to, try Kaimana Shave Ice…same owner as Big Wave Shrimp Truck which is our go to😍so we finally went to try it! I was wondering why the strawberry looked so pale?? Took a scoop as I was walking out back to the picnic table area set up by Big Wave, I stopped and said Omgawd…this is the best shave ice I have EVER had yet!!! As I bit into a chunk of strawberry and was wondering why there were tan brownish specs in it🤔they use real fruit! And cane sugar not artificial coloring and corn syrup!!!👍🏼The ultimate and finest fluffiest shave ice EVER! I tried the lychee and it too had pieces of lychee in it! It’s like eating super finely shaven strawberries and lychee!!!😱I had mine with vanilla ice cream and snow cap, and I was in La La shave ice heaven!!! Seriously that good that I can no longer have it elsewhere! This will definitely be my go to from here on! And will be trying all the flavors! And to add a cherry on top, a super friendly staff! Highly recommend trying it! 😋😋😋😍😍😍👍🏼👊🏼🤙🏼🌴🌺😎#kaimanashaveicehaleiwa

Stopped by this spot as it was close to one of our favorite shrimp trucks and man, this was amazing. Their shaved ice is packed with delicious flavors and the flavoring isn’t overly sweet. We really liked the way they put ice cream at the bottom of the shaved ice. The macadamia nut ice cream paired well with their mango flavors too! The ice itself is so smooth and airy. Some of the best shaved ice I’ve had in Honolulu. They also have an outdoor sitting area with a pond. Definitely a great spot to try!

Omg I think I found the best shave ice place. Personally I don’t like shave ice because I don’t like the syrup taste but I got Lilikoi and Acai was so good. Good combination too. I’m pretty sure they use actual fruit for syrup. Definitely coming back when I want to eat shave ice. Staff was very nice.

I thought Ululani's was good. Holy moly, this place is on another level of delicious shave ice. While they are a more granular shave ice (I prefer silky/fine ice), the flavors and quality of the ingredients are well beyond what we expected of Hawaiian shave ice. Service is fantastic, quick, and friendly. The geckos around the shop add to the enjoyment of this cute shop. Then, you get your shave ice and are blown away with something that's supposed to simply be shaved ice flakes/granules with flavor splashed on. Nope, it's not simple. Strawberry has actual strawberry infused. Lychee has actual lychees. Matcha? Yep, that's real matcha. The ice creams are also delicious and complement the ice so well. The complexity of this treat is incredible at Kaimana. I wish they weren't only on the North Shore, so I could have more tomorrow. It's damned near perfect. Maybe it's intentional, but if they could get the granular ice to be finer like Ululani's they would probably be the most perfect shave ice in the world. Regardless, they're the best shave ice I've ever had so far.
Peter P — Google review
My wife and I tried 5 different shave ice stores across Oahu and the Big Island, and this one was absolutely our favorite. You can tell the fruit syrups actually use real fruit, and they don't skip on toppings or presentation. And only $8.50 after adding mochi and ice cream! The only criticism is I'd really like a spoon instead of the popsicle stick I was given, it made it a bit harder to eat. But having the straw to slurp up the liquid was definitely appreciated!
Justin C — Google review
Drove all the way to have shave ice here. I absolutely loved the North Shore Shave Ice. I would highly recommend having the Banana ice cream there it was delicious and one of the best ice-creams I’ve ever eaten so so good and well made. The staff was very friendly and I’d highly recommend visiting! Aloha.

I was so impressed with this shave ice! We got lychee and strawberry with Mac nut ice cream, cream top, mochi and li hing powder. The lychee and strawberry syrups were so yummy and tasted like the actual fruits unlike most shops using artificial flavorings. The ladies told me it’s because they use the real fruits to make their syrups! Mochi was nice and soft and the Mac nut ice cream was sooo creamy and nutty. I do love the texture of Waiola shave ice, but Kaimana’s syrups and ice cream will have me coming back for sure.
SB — Google review
This is the only shaved ice shop that we encountered that serves all natural, real fruit syrups. None of the artificial stuff. Idk how they do it, but the flavors all tastes so legit. I don’t feel so bad eating all the sweets. We got the North Shore, which comes with mac nut ice cream. We love mac nuts! Also the backyard is such a hidden sanctuary. There are beautiful giant monkey pod trees and a serene river. Don’t miss out on it!

The vibes are immaculate with this Snow bro! They got the islands jams going and the shaved ice cream is like butter shards that melt in your mouth! Great variation in flavors too! I went with the Mango with condensed milk and passion pop. My girl got the pineapple coconut it was good too. A very nice refreshing treat for the island weather. Matsumoto, who?! This is way better!!!

Yay! Fell in love with the dessert Shaved Snow on Big Island and now I live on Kauai but there is nowhere that has it. I’m on a mini vacation on Oahu and drove a half hour to Snow Factory. Did not disappoint! It was perfect. I got the Nutella one. This dessert is my all time favorite. Skip the shaved ice & try the shaved snow!

For me it is one of the best ice creams on Oahu, i highly recommend it. Personally my favorite favor is taro, the man who serves is very kind and respectful. The ice cream is delivered to you after a few minutes, everything in this food truck is excellent.

Good spot for some shaved ice cream. This time got the lychee one and it comes with bobas on time. Quite refreshing.

Today we visited the shaved ice stand in Haleiwa and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The staff member helping us was unfriendly and dismissive. When I politely asked for an extra spoon so I could share with my two young children, I was told — quite rudely — that the bowl only comes with two spoons. This level of service was really surprising and left a negative impression.

Tried to go here after swimming at Wameia bay-unfortunately the hours posted were not accurate-we tried to go to the food park village area at 4:30pm today and the hours said they were open until 5, however when we got there, the food truck was closed. Too bad-luckily there were more shaved ice options in town

Trying to write this review was hard because Google wouldn't pull it up via "shaved ice" search terms. Had to search ice cream..... Anyway, really good shaved ice for decent prices and friendly customer service. I got tarro shaved ice with mochi balls and chocolate sauce, my daughter had cookie dough with mochi balls and hubby had peanut butter with condensed milk, chocolate sauce, mochi balls. All so delicious and was jealous of my husband peanut butter one but I think if i would've added condensed milk to mine I would've liked it better only because I like tarro flavor better.

Very cool shaved ice cream! Totally different experience, it taste like ice cream but is light and fluffy, powdery, melts in your mouth. Definitely worth a try!
