Tea house
Coffee shop
Someday Something is a charming cafe in Sidmouth, run by Jamey D'Amato from Vermont, USA. The cafe offers a variety of light lunches, coffees, cakes, and scones. Known for its cream teas and freshly baked scones available for dine-in or takeaway/mail order. It's more of a tea room than just a coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating options.
Spent a bit of time looking for somewhere for a cream tea in Sidmouth and stumbled across Someday Something. It was busy when we arrived but we were seated. We had a cream tea for two and it was lovely. Fresh, warm scones with plenty of clotted cream and jam. Big enough pot of tea that we got cups each out of the pot. Good value for money and we were left full for most of the day!
Stacey R — Google review
We came here to enjoy a cream tea and it was a success. The cafe is small but has spaces both inside and outside. We ordered a savory cream tea and a regular one. Both cheese and fruit scones were very fresh and soft, and came with enough chutney, cheese or jam and clotted cream, respectively. The staff were welcoming and quick. The cakes and lunch food looked amazing, so we will come back on our next trip to Sidmouth.
Marina P — Google review
Very mid level cream tea cafe. The cafe itself was decorated nice inside and gave off a friendly vibe it's a shame I could not say the same about the staff. Upon arrival we stood at the door waiting to be seated as we did not want to just walk in and sit in potentially reserved seats. The staff just looked at us and eventually with hesitation told us that we could sit anywhere. They proceeded to provide minimal customer service and did not provide us with menus, my partner had to get those. We observed much nicer service provided to locals who frequent the cafe. As a black british couple visiting Devon we weren't sure if this was down to our race or simply because we were tourists. But to be honest it felt like a bit of both. The scones were nice but I don't think they were cooked freshly as they were quite cold when they reached our table. There is a much nicer cream tea cafe close by called The Dairy Shop with a variety of jam spreads and very friendly! If I could leave 0 stars I would!
Symona — Google review
Best fruit scones I have ever tried. Friendly and attentive service. Mum and I enjoyed it. Very good presentation. We're even took away two scones take home. Highly recommended.
And W — Google review
Incredible scones! All the way from South Africa just to try Devon cream and scones. The small coffee shop is so cute and homey. Moist and delicious scones, even better cream. A recommendation might be to try explore local jam options or sugar free options as the jam is a bit of a regular strawberry, though it is just amazing. You must try the milkshakes! You won’t regret stopping here!

Amazing afternoon tea, it’s #1 on our list when we come down to Sidmouth to visit family. The ladies are so kind to us and lovely to our children. Great service, great atmosphere, great food.

Brilliant cream tea, one of the best! Lovely fresh and warm scone with loads of cream and jam! Delicious 😋 2025 update, Still brilliant

During a few days at Sidmouth we called in for coffee and cake. Two lovely ladies working very hard at this lovely establishment, but at the same time providing a warm proffessional and friendly service. Lovely food, always helpful to accommodate the customers. Very busy

Taste of Sidmouth is a renowned gelato spot in the South West, offering over 18 flavors made with authentic Devonian and Italian ingredients. They cater to various dietary preferences with their vegan and gluten-free options. Located on Old Fore Street, this award-winning establishment has gained recognition for its quality and diverse range of ice creams, including vegan choices. Visitors praise the organized service and delectable treats, making it a must-visit when in Sidmouth.
Coeliac review - they do gluten free pasties! Individually wrapped. I had the steak one warmed up to take away. They put it a clean paper bag to warm it to avoid cross contamination and served in a take away box. Pastry was a bit soft as opposed to flaky but still tasted delicious.
G G — Google review
Dropped in here twice while on holiday with my cousin recently. Excellent and very friendly service and the ice cream was to die for. Highly recommended!
Andrew C — Google review
We stopped by here on a beautifully sunny day specifically to grab a Cornish pasty and a cup of coffee. We found a nice table outside and I then went into the shop to place my order with one of the bubbly young ladies inside. She wrapped up the 4 pasties I ordered which I took outside for the family to eat and one of the friendly servers came out a few minutes later with our coffees. This whole area was quite busy and the establishment was doing a roaring trade. All good.
Ian K — Google review
Lovely little ice cream/ coffee place. Their vegan biscoff ice cream is delicious 😍 (but often don't have it or many other vegan options 2/3 usually) I can imagine in the summer it's busy but rightly so as a lovely little cafe/ ice cream Parlour. Also. Owner was lovely and I saw her catch a £1 charge error and she insisted she refund the customer. (Good to find honest hard working people!)
Bethany A — Google review
Worth the hype! Flavors have both popular hits and some unique options. More than anything, the texture and creaminess of the ice cream makes this stop a must visit. Will be back and will recommend!
Sam — Google review
Excellent ice-cream shop. Great range of flavours and good portions. Loved the Nutella and the Biscoff flavours.

Walked along the seafront then up to the coastal path, we only made it as far as the steps as I had the wrong footwear and it was so hot. Back in town we had an enormous delicious icecream from Tastes. A lovely relaxing day will be back.

We popped in here for a bite to eat and a nice cup of tea,it was very enjoyable the staff were very pleasant and we got our order cooked lovely and fresh. The Mrs had her toasted tea cake with strawberry jam,me being the pig had a small all day breakfast. All the time we were there people we’re queuing up for the home made ice cream, must be tasty will have to try some next time as we are often visiting Sidmouth in Devon which is a lovely Victorian seaside resort.

The Clock Tower in Sidmouth is a charming spot to unwind and enjoy delicious food and drinks. The tea rooms offer stunning views, especially from the tables up in the tower. Visitors can explore the gardens, take in the cliffside scenery, and even visit Jacobs Ladder nearby. While some found the menu limited to pre-made items like baguettes and sausage rolls, others appreciated the generous portions and tasty treats like carrot cake.
Wow! What an absolutely stunning cafe/reataurant! Location: Seaview hilltop with indoor & outdoor seating and beautiful gardens. Food: Big selection of freshly made cakes, baked & scones as well as a delicious hot & cold menu. I ordered the most delicious hot chocolate (the I’ve had personally) Customer service: outstanding 5* service, all of the staff are so friendly & welcoming. Met the owners who are the friendliest people. The place is clean, tidy even though it’s quite busy they keep up with the demand so well. Food & drinks came out in good time, views from the indoor & outdoor seating is so astonishing. It’s a local gem. HIGHLY recommend!
EAT-STAY-TRAVEL — Google review
First visit to this café and can’t believe we’ve never been before, truly a hidden gem. Beautiful views from the seating area inside of the sea and red cliffs (not included to protect fellow customer privacy) and a lovely little garden with seating outside. It was quite busy, we were lucky to be able to snag a table inside on lower floor but there is more seating upstairs. As it was busy we could tell the staff were in a hurry taking orders etc but everyone we interacted with were perfectly pleasant and friendly despite the rush. I can understand some might not like feeling rushed but it was so busy and is quite a small space by the tills I don’t know what else you expect. We really liked our food, cakes and bakes all looked so good and the ones we got tasted amazing. Not the cheapest but generous portions and clearly fresh and perfectly made. We’ll definitely be back 😊
Emmy D — Google review
Nice cafe with stunning views. Cakes are delicious and the service is very good. It is dog friendly place. When we were there at least two clients came with their dogs. The cafe offers nice seating options outside, in the garden itself
Il D — Google review
This cafe and location are breathtaking and the outside and indoor seating let you enjoy both. We ordered an English breakfast tea, Cappuccino, flat white and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate can with a choice of dark, white or milk and all the drinks were perfect! There were plenty of cakes but we opted for the scone, Victoria sponge and raspberry and white chocolate blondie. The portions were satisfying and the raspberries in the blondie were full or flavour. Staff were friendly and attentive and the seating inside and outside was comfortable. Will definitely be returning when in the area.
Elias S — Google review
Neat little cafe. Nicely presented seating in conservatory with coastal view and sunny outdoor walled gardens. Glad they served matcha. Generous sized pieces of cake, but the pistachio cake had too much almond essence for my liking. Coffee and walnut cake definitely recommended!
Golden B — Google review
There can be no denying that the Clock Tower serves up some fantastic food in a fantastic setting - with incredible views. But it was the service today that left a bit of sour taste for us. Walking into the empty cafe, there were no less than five staff behind the counter, and not a single customer in sight. Whether the café had just opened or not, I’ve no idea, but we stood there waiting like lemons to be served or for any sort of acknowledgement. We even contemplated walking away. Even if not ready for us, a quick “bear with us” would have made the world of difference - and would have been preferred to being ignored entirely. Understandably, food and drinks are paid for in advance, and staff asked us to choose a tip amount. The quality of service wasn’t deserving of a tip, however. The food was very good and the prices acceptable. But based on the less than brilliant service, we would be unlikely to return.
Mike K — Google review
As usual as per our at least annual visits to Sidmouth, a visit to the Clock Tower (CT)represents a highlight and must do each trip. Situated within the beautiful Connaught gardens with their abundance and wide range of flowers, The CT provides the perfect place to relax with good coffee, tea( wide range of choice) and delicious cakes, before or after ( or both) a walk around the fauna or for the more adventurous, a walk down Jacob's ladder to the sandy beach with waves lapping onto the red sands. Equally welcoming if the tides out are the numerous rock pools to explore and very large expanse of sand to enjoy, children especially love the experience. The CT is perfectly placed to offer respite at any point during your day at the seaside, offering a wide array of home baked cakes, scones and savouryfoodstuffs that will delight any connoisseur of tasty fare. I love good coffee and that's guaranteed here.
David W — Google review
A stunning venue with a wonderful view of the coast. Lovely staff who were very helpful. A great menu with plenty of veggie and vegan options. I was slightly disappointed to find the "vegan breakfast " had drastically changed from years previous which I had held as the best breakfast I'd had (especially missing the homemade beans), with a better description now being scrambled tofu and mushrooms on toast. Having said food was still nice, and would fully recommend to anyone in the local area and can't wait to visit again.

Nestled just off the seafront, Mocha Restaurant on Prospect Place is a delightful spot that offers stunning views across the Esplanade. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch, this charming eatery has something to satisfy every palate. Guests rave about their exceptional coffee and generous scones, though some have wished for homemade jam instead of store-bought options. The seafood platter is another highlight, featuring crab salad and salmon that diners thoroughly enjoy.
Lovely sea front cafe with fresh fish and chips. Dog friendly . Coffee was good and all in all a very nice visit, highly recommended.

We had lunch and were pleasantly satisfied. The place is clean, the staff attentive, and the food of reasonable quality and the coffee was fine. The highlight was the chocolate cake, which was absolutely delightful and had little chunks of chocolate in it, great fuel for our bracing walk along the sea front. We would be happy to return and can recommend note also they are dog friendly and have veggie options so we were well catered for —thank you!

We had a great meal at this cozy, clean restaurant. The staff were super friendly, making us feel right at home. We tried the scampi with chips and mushy peas, and the beef burger with chips—both were absolutely delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Highly recommend this spot for a tasty, relaxing meal!

Highly recommend 🙂

A lovely place to go for a bit to eat or a drink. We had lunch here and the baguettes were freshly made which was pleasant. The prices are on the high side but then you would expect this for the location.

Becketts Coffee House is a delightful spot that truly captures the essence of a cozy café experience. With its charming atmosphere reminiscent of classic lunch spots, it’s an ideal retreat for those looking to unwind after shopping. The café boasts an impressive selection of gluten-free cakes and scones, making it a haven for those with dietary restrictions. The attentive manager, Helen, ensures guests feel welcomed by providing allergen menus alongside regular options. The menu features homemade soups and beautifully presented sandwiches accompanied by fresh salads.
This place is dog friendly. There is a lot of seating, yet still distanced. The food is lovely. The soup was properly homemade. The sandwiches were beautifully presented and included a side salad. Hot chocolates were creamy and smooth. We decided to enjoy dessert: a sticky toffee pudding, a slice of fudge cake (highly recommended) and a chocolate brownie. Very good visit! Thank you Becketts for a lovely lunch.

Great coffee and food shop. The sandwiches were exceptionally good . Well filled on lovely bread. Crab sandwich was in my top 10
Matthew W — Google review
What a wonderful place! It has a traditional ‘ladies who lunch’ vibe which reminded me of my favourite places from many years ago. The manager, Helen, welcomed us in and, upon, hearing that one of the party was gluten-free & dairy-free and another was gluten-free (2 could eat regular food) she immediately gave us both the allergen menus (and the regular ones) and shared what GFDF options were available. We ate: - GFDF sausage roll, with coleslaw, crisps and salad, followed by GFDF Victoria sponge. -GFDF steak pasty, again with coleslaw, crisps and salad, followed by GFDF apple & blackberry crumble with GFDF custard. - GF mozzarella & pesto panini with salad, followed by GF cappuccino cake. -Jacket potato with cheese, tuna & salad, followed by GF cappuccino cake. We all found our choices delicious and as they were so similar to the ‘regular’ food that our two ‘regular’ eaters were very impressed with their GF and DF alternatives. For a main, dessert and drink we paid approx £17 per person - very good value for the generous portions and yumminess! Helen was so knowledgeable about allergies and allergens that she made this a fantastic holiday treat! Thank you 🙏❤️

Popped in with the hubby for a latte before a walk about. Lovely atmosphere, latte lively. Decided on a cheese scone but afraid it wasn’t home made so didn’t really enjoy it. Can’t beat the garden centres for a decent scone. .

What a find! 👍👍👍 First class care and attention to us as customers and first class food and drinks to match !! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, made extra special with the in depth checking for garlic intolerance! MASSIVE G F MENU, supplied by a local GF producer, and completely supported throughout their menu! Lovely little quirky eatery and distillery. Happy to share signs on tables, which was very handy as a couple sat on a huge table ! Very accommodating for a group of 4 with a dog in tow ! We did have to send pasty back as cold in middle. Very apologetic. Very tasty.

The Bagel Shop is a hidden gem tucked away in a side alley, offering an array of delicious bagels with friendly service. The shop is also dog-friendly, making it a great spot to grab a quick and easy lunch before heading to the seafront. Despite some minor disappointments with drinks, visitors are eager to return for the top-notch bagels and speedy service.
Absolutely delicious bagels. So many flavours in one bite. Lovely friendly cafe. 2nd time back in a couple of months. Our family love it here. Dogs welcome.
Fanchea C — Google review
A proper hidden gem in Sidmouth. Tucked away in a little alley, The Bagel Shop proves that a humble bagel can be elevated into something genuinely special. These aren’t New York-style bagels, but slightly sweeter, and they come absolutely packed with fillings -- no stingy layers here, just full-on flavour. The coffee was strong and did its job perfectly alongside the bagels. Altogether, it made for a top-tier brunch at a very fair price. Highly recommended.
Mike G — Google review
We loved the bagels from this little shop. The New Yorker and Caesar were very tasty!

What an outstanding place! A simple menu, done brilliantly, served with a smile and at a good price. Absolutely great place for lunch or a snack stop. Super clean and bright too. Go and enjoy a top class bagel, the 'with everything' topping was superb!

Stunning little independent side-street cafe with a great vibe and excellent friendly service, serving the most delicious street food in Sidmouth! A modern clean cafe with a stylish interior, offering plenty of relaxed seating with an extremely warm atmosphere and a cosy feel - a great space for anyone to enjoy. And, it is dog friendly here too, wicked 🐾 A simple menu and reasonable prices with dine-in or takeaway options. Friendly and efficient service with a smile. Great flavours. Whilst there is a generous selection of meat bagels on offer (naturally), that did sound tasty, the vegan and vegetarian options were slightly more limited. This said however, we had the smashed avocado and halloumi bagels and they were banging 👌 Then we topped it off with a couple of amazingly delicious warm cinnamon buns. The bagels here are gluten free as well, which is great to see. Being huge tea connoisseurs, well me (Ash) really, the tea here was not the best and didn’t hit that ‘awe’ spot that a good English Breakfast or Assam can hit. The tea tasted like a flat Tetley’s (horrible - sorry Tetley lovers out there). However, this is just a very minor set back. Our positive feedback would be only very minor things, as everything else is top drawer here. More vegan and vegetarian options, and a better selection of finer tea 😉 Overall, The Bagel Shop is still worth every bit 5-stars and we would highly recommend this cafe to anyone who is visiting Sidmouth. (Apologies for my harshness on the tea…I do love a good cuppa)! 😁 27-04-2024 Many thanks B & A

The Cornish Bakery is a delightful spot that offers an array of delicious treats, including some of the best Cornish pasties you'll find. The pastry is flaky and filled with rich flavors, making it a must-try for any visitor. Their coffee and cakes are also noteworthy, with options like cherry and almond croissants adding to the charm. Open early on Sundays, The Cornish Bakery provides a welcoming atmosphere complemented by friendly staff.
Great coffee and cakes, visited on a Sunday and they were open before 9:00 unlike other coffee shops, also closes at 18:00 on a Sunday in summer unlike my usual coffee shop. What I thought was an almond croissant turned to be a cherry and almond croissant, which was very nice…

Nestled in the heart of Sidmouth's regency esplanade, Prospect Plaice is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious fish and chips while enjoying the coastal charm. This delightful eatery specializes in serving up prime North Atlantic Cod, Haddock, and Plaice, all prepared to perfection. With a cozy 70-seater restaurant and an extensive takeaway menu available year-round, it has become a beloved spot for both locals and holidaymakers alike.
On holiday dropped in to Sidmouth to see the Sea got hungry popped into Prospect was met with a friendly smile order taken went upstairs to seating area food arrived quickly with another friendly smile and helpful waitress and the food was plentiful and tasty so all in all a great choice to eat here.

Not chip shop chips. I feel ripped off considering they use frozen chips. The staff were nice, but paying £5 for a regular portion of chips, I was expecting proper chips; they were clearly served from frozen and were tasteless and dry. This photo is the small amount we managed to eat before throwing the rest, despite being super hungry They also charge 35p for a sachet of ketchup, and it has a really strange fruity taste, with a watery jam consistency. So we couldn't even use the ketchup to give the chips a little flavour

We both had cod and chips upstairs in the cafe. The food was piping hot, and the staff couldn’t have been more pleasant. Our fish was perfectly cooked, my mushy peas were very good and the curry sauce my husband had was also good. A busy cafe worth visiting.

We had such a lovely experience at Prospect Fish & Chips in Sidmouth. We arrived during the afternoon break when most restaurants were closed, and we were tired, hungry, and a bit desperate to find something open. Thankfully, we found this place – and what a pleasant surprise! We were a group of four, with a stroller and a sleeping toddler, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. They checked on us several times to see if we needed anything, and were genuinely friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent – crispy chips, perfectly cooked fish, and we also had a burger that was absolutely delicious. The meat was beautifully seasoned and juicy. We even asked for a good beer and were not disappointed. What really stood out was the warm and thoughtful service. The staff came by twice to ask if everything was okay, which made us feel truly looked after. I was honestly surprised to see that this place doesn’t have higher reviews – we were genuinely impressed and very happy with the whole experience. We’re giving it five stars without hesitation. Highly recommended!

I’ll mention the price first as it the first thing you see. Yeah it’s a little pricey but you’re at the coast and have to expect premium rates for these locations, just let me add it was worth every penny. The service was spot on from placing the order to bringing our food to the table the staff were very friendly. The seating area upstairs was nice and we managed to get by the window which was a bonus on a hot day plus take in the busy vibe of the entrance to Sidmouth high st. Now the important bit, the food! Cod and chips for my partner £12.95, 2 jumbo sausage in batter and chips with salad for me £9.95 with a side of curry sauce £1.50. The chips were exactly what you want, I nice chunky chip that wasn’t greasy, the perfect chip. The sausage and cod were both amazing! Batter was fresh and fluffy, no grease what so ever. ‘Best cod ever’ my partner said. The curry sauce was a fair size portion for the price with a fruity raisin flavour. All the condiments you’d want on the table including bottles of ketchup, brown sauce and Mayo none of these little sachets. I would definitely recommend a visit when your in Sidmouth, I think it will be our go to chippy when we’re in the area.

The chips are frozen generic pub chips. Nothing like traditional Chip Shop chips. And they’re £8! I’d try somewhere else next time
William F — Google review
Fantastic service. Lovely food. Couldn't do more to try and accommodate even on a very very busy day. One of the best fish and chips around. Very fairly priced as well.
Richard R — Google review
What an awful experience. First off, the prices. Absolutely extortionate. For a kids fish, curry sauce and chips along with a bottle of water will run you £20. For a kids meal fish?? Absolutely ridiculous. Service wasn’t great either, was jam packed in that tiny storefront, along with some a 20 minute wait time. But for that price, you’ve gotta be getting some premium fries right? Nope. Straight from the freezer, doused with cold curry sauce. The fish was vile, the batter was tasteless. There was “pepper” on it but it was probably just grease from the unchanged oil. Fish tasted weird and metallic, disgustingly oily, it slipped out of my hands. They also gave me extra helpings which I didn’t order, but considering the food was abysmal I wouldn’t call that generous. Complete tourist trap, located on the promenade, next to the seaside. Don’t go here unless you want mediocre frozen chips for 3x the price and a disease from the unchanged oil.

Nestled in a serene courtyard, Selley's is a delightful café that offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for unwinding. During my visit, I savored a scrumptious savory tart paired with a refreshing mixed leaf salad, followed by an indulgent slice of apple, rum, and raisin cake topped with clotted cream. The house white wine complemented the meal beautifully. The staff were exceptionally courteous and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. This hidden gem is easily overlooked but well worth seeking out.
A very great little place for some fresh and tasty food and drinks away from the bustle of Sidmouth high street. I opted for the fresh crab sandwich and it was delicious. The cappuccino was also excellent. The small courtyard cafe has a few tables inside but the vibe is outside surrounded by pottery galleries and studios. Such a quiet place with no passing traffic and very few people looking at you. A large sun sail above the courtyard would allow outside eating/drinking in a light rain. They are licensed and sell various ciders. Came away feeling well fed and refreshed in mind and body.

If you’re ever in Sidmouth and looking for a cozy spot with incredible food and even better service, look no further than Selley’s! Julia and Richard have truly created a hidden gem that has quickly become my favourite café in town. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that makes you feel right at home. The food is absolutely fantastic – fresh, flavorful, and crafted with care. But what truly sets Selley’s apart is Richard’s homemade ginger cake. It’s nothing short of divine – moist, perfectly spiced, and the perfect balance of sweetness and warmth. You can tell it’s made with love and expertise. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or spending a relaxing afternoon, the food and service at Selley’s never disappoint. A true Sidmouth treasure, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Loved this little cafe! Thought we'd try it having read reviews and weren't disappointed. We sat in the little courtyard garden, which is a nice oasis from the busy street, set amongst craft shops and galleries. Two of us had cream tea, which came warmed and the scone was doughy and delicious! One had a slice of coffee cake which was rather large and tasty! Tea was in mugs, and coffee from a machine but that was fine. Service was really good, very friendly and attentive. Would return!

Wonderful service. Definitely recommend the homemade warm fruit scone! Calming jazz music complements the quiet atmosphere, sat in the courtyard. A little hideaway!

What a lovely find 😍 I was drawn to this tearoom as it is an independent business and I like to support that because there are so many chains around now. We were greeted by an absolutely delightful young man who took our order. The cream tea we ordered was delicious. Great tea and fantastic scones. I highly recommend this tearoom. 👌

A really nice find. Great service, very friendly and efficient. The decor was a bit twee for my tastes but I have to admit it works with the space! I had a really good crab sandwich. My wife had a vegetable tagine which looked and smelt very good and according to my wife tasted delicious. Dog friendly, I can recommend Shelley’s for a nice lunch or afternoon tea.

This is our favourite cafe in Sidmouth. The food is all home made and delicious. We love the quiche, Coronation chicken sandwich and all the cakes! Dogs are welcome and the courtyard is lovely to sit in on hot and chilly days. Great coffee and hot chocolate too.

The Courtyard is a charming and laid-back restaurant that offers a variety of dishes from breakfast to sandwiches, fried seafood, and jacket potatoes. The menu is inspired by botany, with sections named Fauna and Flora catering to both non-vegans and vegans. Emphasizing sustainability, the restaurant prides itself on using locally sourced produce. Guests can enjoy their meals in the enclosed courtyard at the rear of the establishment for a peaceful dining experience.
A couple from my coach holiday came here and liked it, so I decided to try this restaurant for lunch - and I'm so glad I did! It's a short walk up the High Street from the seafront and main shopping area. A cosy little place with lovely traditional decor, a banquette with cushions in the window, and a little courtyard at the back. Even the ladies loo was nicely decorated in pink, and it was very clean. The atmosphere was easy-going and friendly, and obviously family and dog friendly too. Although the restaurant was almost full, the owner made me feel really welcome and found room for me on a nice table near the window. The menu offered a good and varied choice of starters, sharing platters and mains as well as lighter meals and sandwiches, and they serve alcoholic as well as the usual hot and cold drinks. Lots of vegetarian/vegan options. Ordered a jacket potato with goat's cheese and mushrooms, served with dressed salad and coleslaw, and a pot of tea. The salad was fresh, the potato well cooked, and the filling was so delicious! Generous portions too. Could not fault the prompt and friendly service. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and would come here again!

Breakfast in Sidmouth.... there's a surprisingly large choice of venues, the main business of Sidmouth seems to be tea and pastry shops! Anyway, we selected the Courtyard...mainly because of it's excellent reviews. On the surface it looks like a snug small cafe, but this is deceiving as it has a large covered area at the back. We selected the full English with black pudding. It was served quickly and efficiently. Perfectly cooked, not greasy, delicious sausages and bacon, just the right amount. Again, some cafes can have the tendency of piling food too high, but this is normally to compensate for quality, here they serve exactly the right amount. It was so good....we returned two days later for a rematch.....and it didn't disappoint. Highly recommended

Excellent food, with huge portions (at very reasonable prices) and very friendly service :) Highly recommend the steak pie and quiche, plus the tea was lovely too.

Lots of vegan options to choose from. Had fishless and chips, huge portion size, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Even though I was full, having vegan dessert options didn't stop me! Coconut and ginger tart with vegan ice cream, delicious. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Can take dogs if kept under the table. The cafe is at the top of town away from the sea front but absolutely well worth the visit!

Superb place! Sometimes Google map reviews don't live up to the high score - but this one does! Truly delicious food..amazing veggie breakfast, tasty sausage, fresh real granary bread and raspberry jam to die for! Doggie was welcome and biscuits for her. Staff SO friendly and efficient. Highly recommend a visit to sit in their courtyard - we'll be back!

Kings Garden & Leisure Ltd - Sidmouth is a charming garden center located in Devon. It offers a delightful dining experience with spacious indoor and outdoor seating areas that provide picturesque views. The facility is well-maintained and the staff are friendly and welcoming. In addition to the usual assortment of flowers, gardening equipment, and gifts, this garden center has something for everyone. With ample parking available, it caters to a wide range of visitors.
I have been in Sidmouth for over 3 years but never knew that an amazing place like this existed. Kings has got everything under one roof. A must visit place before Christmas and beyond!

Not visited this Kings before and was pleasantly surprised with all the car parking spaces. Was interested in the stones etc which was conveniently located near the car park. They also have a large cafe, with lots of homemade cakes etc, some are even vegan and gluten free.

Kings at Sidmouth is easily the best Garden Centre in the area and boasts a huge Car Park. They sell good healthy plants and a wide range of gardening equipment, patio furniture etc. There is also a range of food, baked goods and Seasonal items. The ladies working in the plant area go the extra mile to be helpful and offer advice. The Restaurant is a real gem offering super views, a pleasant light and airy ambience, proper filter-coffee, excellent reasonably priced food and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. We particularly enjoy their turkey and ham pie which comes with roast potatoes, lots of nicely cooked traditional veggies and lots of gravy, just ask for more if you want. A hot Desert served with Custard is usually available. An added bonus is that they don't allow dogs inside the Restaurant, and there is a dedicated dog area outside.

Lovely place plants all look healthy and well looked after and average prices. Café really busy and could see why great choice for food drink and cake.
Barbara H — Google review
If you're shopping for plants, seeds or gifts, then Kings Sidmouth has a massive range to choose from. If you're after good coffee and great tasting food, then you'll be a bit disappointed. The shop is big with everything you can imagine for the garden, and that includes dogs, cats and birds aswell. Outdoor furniture for the patio and BBQ's galore for those summer outdoor fry ups. Outdoor torches, garden pots znx plants of every variety. They also gave a small range of organic seeds on offer. The cafe is damn big and I would imagine it fills up on the weekend. The outdoor deck makes for a chilled out coffee and cake break. We had the Devonshire scone and cream which was good, however the double chocolate cake was dry, had fake cream and wasn't worth finishing. The coffee at best was a 5/10 and almost didn't taste like coffee. You'll have to head to Sidmouth for better coffee. The portion sizes are generous at the cafe which is a plus, and you're allowed to have your 4 legged friends with you aswell on the deck, just not in the cafe. There is plenty of parking and quite a few disabled parks. Overall i'd go back if shopping for my dog or if I was after garden bits and pieces.
James M — Google review
Lovely little garden centre. Lots of really healthy plants for indoor and out. Excellent cafe with a good variety of meals, sandwiches and snacks. The cakes are delicious and so many to choose from! Visited Kings garden centre yesterday with my dog and had a browse in the dog section. Stopped for a cuppa and was banished outside in the rain as for an unknown reason, they do not allow dogs in their cafe, despite there being a separate section in the cafe inside which could be used for people who bring their dogs with them. The staff were very friendly and wiped down the wet table and chairs under the gazebo, but were unable to pull the screen down to give us protection form the rain as the screen was unfortunately assembled on the gazebo frame against the wall! Very disappointed that in this day and age where 1/3 of people in the UK now have a dog (Dogs Trust 2024). Won't be returning until you change your rules on pets being welcomed into your cafe.

Had a day out in Sidmouth today as had booked a table in Blinis. My wife and I both had Pea and Ham soup for starter which was really good. For main my wife had the Plaice fillet and I had the Haddock fillet. Both dishes tasted amazing and the presentation was fantastic. For desert my wife had the coconut and egg custard tart and I had the fennel seed and orange blossom upside down cake. Both were absolutely scrumptious. Big compliments to the chef! On arrival the waiting staff were very polite and attentive and this continued throughout the meal. Quiet and very pleasant atmosphere with low volume background music a nice touch. Couldn't fault a thing! Will be back k again soon and very highly recommended 👌

The service was disappointingly slow, and the food didn't meet expectations. The chips were drenched in oil and inedible. Such a disappointing breakfast. I had poached eggs on toast and added an avocado. One of the poached eggs was undercooked and I couldn't eat it. I informed the waitress and she said she would inform the chef but no offer to replace it and they still charged for the full price of 2 eggs and toast even though half of my plate was rendered inedible. We were also disappointed with the ketchup it was the watery cheap tasteless variety, usually a good indication that cheap ingredients are being used all round. Friendly but slow service. Do not recommend and would definitely not go here again. Edit: having read your reply to both myself and my husband I can confirm that literally half of my plate, as pictured, was left. At the time I informed the waitress of the problem, at the time we paid the bill, and at the time she cleared the plates and we left. At no point did she offer anything at all to fix the problem besides 'telling chef'. If it is the case as you suggest that she should have offered to replace, which I agree should have happened, then she needs to be made aware of this because it clearly didn't even cross her mind.

I had hoped for more from this bookshop-cum-cafe. The selection of books was limited, and my savoury scone, which came with half a spoon of chutney and a tiny piece of cheese stuck to the roof of my mouth as if they were concrete. Well-meaning but confused staff tried to get me to pay my bill before I had even ordered. Could do with some staff training and a wider selection of books.

Absolute perfection!! Coffee was insanely good, I was even asked if I'd like semi skimmed or whole milk in my decaf latte, how luxurious to have a choice (of course whole milk is the only real option though 😉)! Simply perfect temperature, nice and strong (double shot standard, quite a big cup but somehow it was still a really good strength), spot on texture, temperature was perfect, tasted amazing, it was just so so good. My partner's oat decaf flat white was just as good and his chocolate peanut flapjack thing was divine. Such a lovely light, bright, airy place with some lush houseplants. Even impressed with the toilet! 😆 Staff were super friendly, chatty, down-to-earth despite being a bit hungover from Folk Week 😂 Such a great experience, it's the only place in Sidmouth we'd ever go for coffee. Thank you ⭐

Good coffee but frosty reception - as soon we walked in the lady behind the counter yelled at us to keep the dog on the door mat! Lack of atmosphere until the actual owner arrived (he was nice) and put some music on, plenty of friendly options in the town

Didn't get a chance to find out anything! Busy Sidmouth Folk Week. Enjoyed a lovely entertaining day and thought a wonderful end would be coffee and a loo break! Walked in (door wide open) female behind counter barks 'we're closed" Um, ok..... little bit rude! But asked if I could just use the loo. Got "no!" in response. Which is fine, but did you actually have to be so unfriendly? I really hope you have made lots of money from the visitors this week, and I'm sure you are possible a bit tired, but seriously, your customer service skills need some work. Or maybe another job. Needless to say I shall be going elsewhere during the rest of my stay in Sidmouth.

Wouldn’t allow my 5 year old son to use the toilet who was crying, the lady with the short brown hair who was around 60 wouldn’t let us because we hadn’t bought something from the cafe, maybe I would have if you had been a little kinder. Shocking. Have some compassion

I have been meaning to come and do a review for Rincon for a while after I visited last month. As someone who has worked in hospitality and speciality coffee, it's not often you wander into a place (not really expecting a lot), and walk away full of life! Rincon did just that, the space is airy, light and the wooden furnishings create a warm atmosphere. You are greated by a wonderful couple who own the place, and amongst the bustle of the morning tradesmen, you can find a cosy corner to enjoy a proper good brew. I came in with my dog, and spent a while chatting to the couple about swimming spots in the area. A few mates of mine were doing the SWCP and I met them later that evening, after my swim in Beer, thanks for the recommendation! Overall, Rincon offers great coffee (Clifton Coffee Roasters) in a lovely setting with an even better community of people behind it. Would highly recommend! 🤜🤛

Title: A Truly Memorable Experience at Browns Bakery and Coffee Shop! Browns Bakery in Sidmouth? If you’ve ever wanted to be treated like an inconvenience, then this is the place to go, Picture this: It’s a lovely day, you’re excited to grab a coffee and a pastry, and then—surprise!—you’re treated to a lovely shout from the back of the shop by a lovely woman whose vocal cords must have been fine-tuned for screeching. “We’re closing soon! Takeaway only!” she bellowed, as if we were all in some high-stakes reality show where the goal is to get the most abrupt customer service in record time. And let’s not forget the charming atmosphere! It truly added to my experience that there were no signs to inform patrons about the closing time or takeaway policy. Because who wouldn’t want to guess when a bakery closes, right? Over an hour before closing time? That’s just too much information. Honestly, if you’re in the market for a rude awakening rather than a relaxing coffee break, Browns Bakery is the perfect spot! Who needs friendly service when you can have a loud reminder of your unworthiness? Would I recommend it? Only if you’re looking to add a touch of drama to your day. Bravo, Browns Bakery, for turning a simple coffee and cake stop into an unforgettable experience!

Found this amazing bakery by chance and couldn't resist buying some of their delicious cakes. We can recommend the Nutella and mini egg blockie and the Dorset Apple Cake. Worth a visit.

My parents ordered the most amazing birthday 'slab' - half raspberry & white chocolate, half rolo - for my son's 2nd birthday. It travelled from Devon to Sussex and still looked incredible and tasted unbelievably delicious! Highly recommend this bakery and a slab rather than a traditional cake was just perfect!

My boyfriend took me on a little date to the seafront and got me a kinder bueno cookie bar from here on the 1st of June… We were supposed to share it but I ate almost all of it!! It was delicious, the price was very reasonable and we were served by a very pleasant lady that was kindly patient with my indecisiveness (there were so many amazing options and I only eat treats on special occasions so I wanted to make a good choice). I swear if I could I’d get something from here everyday. Will be coming back next time I want to treat myself.

This place does the best cakes I’ve ever seen! And so many it’s hard to choose. They even sell cookie pies, usually you can only order those off the internet.

Pub
The Black Horse Sidmouth is a charming pub located in the heart of Sidmouth. It offers a nice selection of beers and excellent traditional ploughman's lunch. The friendly staff creates a welcoming atmosphere, and the pub features an ambiance that feels like being outdoors without direct sun or seagull interference. Live music is available on Friday and Saturday evenings, adding to the lively atmosphere.
This pub has a great atmosphere and have regular live music. A reasonably priced jukebox with seemingly endless choice of music, a pool table that takes card payments and a couple of high end fruit machines, everything you expect from a pub. But go a bit deeper and there’s big screen TVs showing all live sports. And it doesn’t stop there! They have got a restaurant and serve food all day with a great, reasonably priced menu to choose from, I had the cheeseburger this time and it was gorgeous. They have coffee from a machine, just pay for a mug and help yourself. Ali and Zack have done an amazing job with this pub and are very customer focused. I’ll definitely be returning.

The bar staff make the experience worth it! Enjoyed watching the football here, drinks are also very well priced. Have come here before to see live music too. The atmosphere is unique and just a good vibe. Particular kudos to the guy with the beard behind the bar - he was funny and really brightened our night.

On our way through Devon we pulled into Sidmouth for a wonder round for a bit. We came across a cosy pub of the black horse. We went inside and it was very roomy I must say. The lady serving the bar was gorgeously friendly to everyone and you can hear that clearly. Drinks were very fresh and the atmosphere was delightful with adequate facilities too. Definitely a good pub to stop by if you're in the area.

This pub has had a refurbishment since last year when we holidayed in nearby Beer We were served by a very friendly and welcoming American from Montana. Unfortunately, we didn't get his name, but when we asked him if he used to work for another bar called Dukes in Sidmouth , he was really pleased we remembered him. We had the regular breakfast and the smaller breakfast, the food came quickly and was delicious , refills on the tea or coffee much appreciated, also opening the full length windows at our table, was a nice touch as the sun was shining and we could people watch. Dog friendly always a bonus, such a shame it was our last day, before travelling home, also a very friendly female member of staff made us feel welcome. Give them a try , full menu, as well as the breakfast available , sorry photos as I was really hungry

Really impressed with this pub. The new owner welcomed me like a friend - we had a great chat whilst I waited for my food. They’ve also done a superb job hiring - Apollo and Alexia were super sociable and showed a genuine interest in keeping all their customers fed and happy. That’s the way to do business - I’ll definitely be back!

Lovely clean big pub. The food was good and we were looked after extremely well by the lovely Apollo. We only stayed for a meal, as it's basically a sports bar/pub, with TV screens on a few walls, so not my type of place at all, but, if you are into sports, you can't beat it. Thanks Apollo!

The Chattery is a popular British cafe known for its wonderful Full English breakfast experience. It has a loyal following for its food and friendly service. While some visitors find the coffee average, others praise the quality produce of their ham and cheese toastie, sausage and bacon sandwich, and chips. The cafe is recommended as a great spot to visit while exploring Sidmouth.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch whilst visiting Sidmouth. The all day breakfast is such good value for money. Will definitely be returning with our spaniels who had a lovely welcome and some gravy bones I really enjoyed my pumpkin latte. It was so nice :)

This is a review of the coffee only, not food. I had heard this place was really popular and going by the amount of people going in here, I thought I'd hit caffeine jackpot. The coffee was average at best and there are other cafes in Sidmouth that do better coffee. I think everybody is going in here for the food value. They were friendly and helpful and they have a loyal following obviously for their food. But for a great coffee brew, I guess I'll keep looking

If I could give zero stars, I would. Ordered a warm tuna mayo baguette. The baguette was lukewarm at best, tuna was obviously straight out the tin and freezing cold and absolutely no sign of any mayonnaise. I took the item back to the waitress who didn't apologise and was rather indifferent. The item was taken back to the kitchen and "warmed up", for it to still be cold. I was absolutely starving and couldn't be bothered at this point to return it again for it to still be cold. Would not recommend this place at all, much nicer places in Sidmouth to eat! Response to owner: Thank you for your reply. I can assure you it was lukewarm, perhaps if you were there on the day then this could have been confirmed by yourself but alas, you were not. I can also assure you that the baguette when returned after being "warmed up" was not hot so please do not insult me by suggesting that I am unable to tell when something is cold. I think it would be best if you were to review your menus and change the items to cold baguettes since you and your staff are unable to serve hot food as advertised. I did address the issue at the time but feel that I shouldn't, as the customer, have to highlight an issue multiple times when it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Thank you again for your reply and hopefully you make improvements so that your other customers don't have to pay for poor quality food and service.

We were visiting the area on Easter Sunday, so was really pleased to find they were open. Plenty of seating inside and out. Lovely little cafe with friendly staff. The food was delicious, the coffee fantastic and the location great. Away from the busy and more expensive sea front. Located in the centre of town with disabled access and street parking nearby. I always advocate moving away from the tourist hot spots to find these little gems.

Possibly one of the worst cream teas ive had. Why use scones which are like bread! Change your supplier please. We sat at the table and the lady before us had left half of it. If we had realised we wouldn't of ordered it either. The other food looked good, but dont have the cream tea, you will regret it!

Today, I visited Fort Cafe in Sidmouth, a dog-friendly establishment with beautiful views and a relaxed atmosphere. The cafe offers delicious lunch options with generous portions. I enjoyed their roasted chicken sandwiches on granary bread, accompanied by a side salad and chips to share. Although the prices are slightly higher compared to some other places, the overall experience was enjoyable, prompting me to consider revisiting in the future.
The best ice cream ever in my opinion. Really creamy and delicious 😋. Beautiful view of Sidmouth seafront as well. Definitely worth a short walk from the main town.

BEST ICE CREAM EVER! wholly smokes, their in-house made ice-cream must be made with the best local full cream and top flavourings, it was so creamy and thick that nothing else has even come close! Didn’t order anything from the restaurant, so can’t speak to the service on that front… but as a walk-by place to grab a sorbet or icecream, don’t miss it! Highly recommended!

I visited this lovely cafe on Saturday 31st May. I have lived locally all my life and have never visited . It was lovely ,very friendly staff and lovely menu. I had a bacon brie and cranberry toastie, and my husband had ham egg and chips. Best chips around fresh and crispy. Would definitely recommend and definitely return. We sat inside away from the gulls . Tables outside were cleared very efficiently so they weren't a problem .

Went Friday afternoon with my partner for a coffee and cake; we had a small flat white with oat milk. I would be surprised if it actually came from the coffee machine; it was bitter and after the second sip decided not to attempt the rest. Without doubt the worst coffee I have tasted. None of the staff had a smile on their face and when I mentioned it to the waitress as we were leaving, she just said “really?”. Yes it has a nice view when sitting outside in the sun, but if you want a decent coffee , my advice is to go into town; the couple sitting next to us also left without finishing theirs 😥

Really bad attitude from chef when he got my order wrong… advised me to calm down after I asked if I had to wait another 20 mins… … if it’s busy, don’t bother as they can’t manage …. Shame. As food looked good… not great for the cafe as hospitality is hard enough without detrimental service and staff…

Very disappointing granola bowl. For £8, I'd expect more than dusty out-of-the-box granola, a dollop of non-homemade fruit compote and a few berries. Especially disappointing as the hot food on the next door table looked good quality and home cooked. Definite food envy while crunching my way through a dry meal. Alternatively, if the granola bowl is intended to be a low-input dish for the kitchen, it should be priced to reflect this. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated, and service was friendly, quick and efficient. The vibes were good, just pick something else to eat!

Coffee#1 Sidmouth is a delightful spot for coffee enthusiasts and snack lovers alike. This local chain offers an impressive selection of gourmet global coffees, refreshing juices, and tempting snacks in a cozy atmosphere. Visitors often rave about the delicious cakes and friendly staff who create a welcoming environment. While it can get crowded during peak times, especially on weekends, the spacious layout provides ample seating options. The interior has a charming character despite being slightly dim due to its age, adding to its unique ambiance.
This particular Coffee#1 is a favourite of ours when visiting Sidmouth as it is a big premises and has a good selection of food and drinks. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. The interior is a little dark which seems to be down to the age and type of building but we have never found this to be a problem.

Excellent coffee and really tasty cakes. Great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Only peeve was there were a lot of flies. It was closed when I got there at 17:00 on a Sunday and would have been great to grab a coffee then. Revisited a year later and they had more staff on, so service was quicker than before and still welcoming. Just paid another visit I saw a lovely looking chicken pesto role but the grill wasn’t working so I couldn’t have it heated. So went for the cappuccino cake, but that was dry. Service was a bit surly, different staff from my previous visit.

The food was nice and the drinks were piping hot. Great choice of food and beverage available, if a little overpriced. Unfortunately, we found the cafe too crowded, so we didn’t have a relaxing experience. Granted, it was a weekend lunch time, but it was impossible to get up and move around (to ask for items forgotten by staff or refill water) without disturbing other diners or squeezing past the backs of their chairs uncomfortably.

The place is filthy. The firniture is in a dyer state. It is old, dirty, stained and dusty. It looks like it was taken from the nearby tip. It's a shame for such a well known brand. It needs painting. The toilet is "no comment". It is hard to sit down in a chair or sofa and relax due to the unkempt place and unhygienic stuff around. The staff is not very welcoming too. Not good atmosphere at all

Absolutely appalling service. Went in on Sunday at 3:45 to order a frappé. Got told that I couldn’t have one as “they close at 4 and had done the washing up.” So it appears that as well as being an extremely tired branch in need of some TLC, the staff are also allowed to dictate what customers can and can’t have during opening hours. Won’t be returning here.

This has to be the friendliest and quaint Costa I have been to, the staff are very friendly and professional the building is an old pub so it makes it a very different experience to the usual modern experience from most Costa shops. This one is definitely worth visiting and sitting upstairs on comfy sofas and armchairs is magnificent
Balow 2 — Google review
I am a Costa customer by choice, if I have to have a branded coffee, and so found myself in the Costa cafe in Sidmouth today. I was also pushing a wheelchair with my friend's mother on board. In about 10 seconds I understood the rage felt by wheelchair users when premises ignore their needs. The entrance to the cafe was an area enclosed on three sides, one of which opened as a door, but only after you had squashed yourself against one pane of glass and dropped down two steps. Once inside the cafe was open enough for the wheelchair. But I still had to get out again which proved even more difficult as the steps were just the wrong distance apart to allow the wheelchair to be pulled backwards with any safety for it's occupant. I would not complain so much if I didn't know that this Costa is not an old re-build but rather has been opened in the looplast few years in an old building. Hence no consideration given to access. I understand it is an old building but the design of the entrance precluded easy wheelchair access. I will not return to this Costa now and will going forward assess all premises for accessibility and not use those that fail this simple requirement. I apologize it has taken me this long to appreciate this most simple of human needs for a fair proportion of our society.

I have purchased food from here many times which has always been lovely. Myself and my partner went today to order a sandwich and as there was a lady that had gone in with her dog to order food, we waited outside. We then watched as the shorted haired blonde lady coughed in her hand then went and fed the dog with a biscuit. She then took the ladies order and then started preparing food. No wearing gloves, no sanitising or washing her hands. Not for me thank you and went elsewhere.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Newton Poppleford, near Sidmouth, the Southern Cross Devon Guesthouse and Tea Rooms offers a delightful escape for those seeking relaxation and indulgence. This charming guesthouse features cozy rooms that invite you to unwind after a day of exploration. The highlight here is undoubtedly the tea room, where visitors can savor traditional Devonshire cream teas in an enchanting 18th-century thatched cottage or within its lovely walled garden.
Stopped for a cream tea at the tea room after visiting Sidmouth. We had a regular scone and an apple scone with blackberry. They were very nicely presented with proper teacups and tasted good too 👍🏻 There was a generous helping of clotted cream and jams. We were offered a table indoors or outside in the garden. We chose the garden as it had a lot of colourful flowers. Service was excellent - clearly a family run place and everyone was friendly and polite. They had a good quality high chair for our baby. We didn't check for any baby change facilities though.

If you’re looking for a charming escape that feels like stepping into a storybook, look no further than the Enchanted Southern Cross Cream Tea Garden! My daughter, mum, and I recently visited, and it was an experience we’ll cherish forever. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the warmest smiles and the most heavenly aroma of freshly baked scones. The garden itself is a picturesque haven, with blooming flowers, quaint little tables, and the soft hum of bees adding to the magical atmosphere. Now, let’s talk about the cream tea! The scones were perfectly golden and crumbly, served with generous dollops of clotted cream and strawberry jam. Each bite was a little piece of heaven. The tea selection was impressive, and we all opted for a pot of tea which was brewed to perfection. But the highlight of our visit was my daughter’s reaction. As soon as she took her first sip of tea, she sat up straighter, lifted her pinky finger, and declared, “I feel so posh and elegant!” It was absolutely adorable. She spent the rest of the afternoon practising her finest English accent and watching her manners. Southern Cross Cream Tea Garden is not just a place to enjoy delicious treats; it’s a place where memories are made. We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and a little girl who now insists on having tea parties at home every weekend. Highly recommend for a delightful and peaceful afternoon! 🌸🍰☕

For an authentic Devonshire Cream tea experience, this is the place. The gardens are quintessentially English. The scones are great and there's a wide choice of teas to accompany the mountain of Devon's finest clotted cream and jam.

Went for a cream tea with family a week ago, service was very good. Food was really good quality, scones cooked to order, plenty of jam and cream. Would highly recommend.

A real hidden gem just outside Sidmouth! We enjoyed delicious tea and scones in a lovely and peaceful garden all to ourselves. Highly recommended.

Brilliant b&b rooms are quirky which adds to character the owners are great rooms very clean and comfortable breakfast freshly cooked just as you want it plus cereals and juices will stay again and cheese scones are freshly made on the day one of the best b&bs we have stayed in

We spent a 2 week vacation in early June, our hosts Tim, Paula and husband were amazingly friendly and welcoming. If you want to stay at a B &B that is quaint, quirky and quiet this could be a good place for you. The stairs were steep going up to the rooms so might be a problem for people with mobility issues. Tim was very helpful and took up our suitcases for us and got us settled in our room. The breakfasts are wonderful, cereal, ful English , homemade marmalade and jam, toast and tea or coffee. They also do the most amazing cream teas, no scrimping on the cream and jam, with still warm scones, plus a plentiful pot of tea. We meet some lovely people at breakfast and the whole holiday there had a nice family vibe. A very beautiful area to stay. A big thank you to our hosts.

Lovely Cornish pasty, nice thick crust and tasty steak. Great place to chill and have a coffee/snack.

Out for a walk in Sidmouth on a Sunday afternoon in January, went to look for a coffee and cake with my wife and two dogs. The Jar Bakery was well placed near short stay parking and had a prominent ‘dog friendly’ sticker on the door,so good first impression. Cake selection was limited but there was a variety of different flapjacks on display. Coffee options also ok. I had a chai latte and my wife tea. All good as was the Eccles cake and yogurt flapjack. Staff were pleasant and there was plenty of seating. All in all good for a seaside cafe, just not outstanding.

Was initially reserved about cafe as looked like a tatty canteen. The tables were old and tatty and there was stock piled up in the back dining room. however, the breakfast was delicious. Well cooked. Good portion size and nice ingredients. Nice coffee. And good service. would definitely pop in again if we were in the area .

Had a great little lunch. Pasty was excellent. The panini are good. Carrot cake, millionaire, rocky road,...all nice !really lovely staff. It's a bit slow to get the panini warmed up. But will definitely come back. Lots of room to seat at the back

As a visitor to Sidmouth thought we would pop in for a bite to eat. Wish we hadn't bothered. Firstly after sitting for ages I asked if someone could take our order and was then informed we had to queue up at the counter with everyone buying takeaway orders. Then when ordering the 'double cream tea' found out it only came with one drink! Also ordered a pasty which was just plonked on a plate out of the window and given to us just after paying whilst still at the counter, not heated up or with any garnish. When the cream tea arrived, the scone was awful, dry and tasteless. Needless to say, we would not be back. Also the toilets were quite disgusting - needed a good clean and updating.

I have on numerous occasions purchased food to take out and have always been very pleased with the service provided . However today as was with a 92 year old and a 16month old decided to eat in the restaurant area I was disappointed to realise that i had to order food at the counter and join the back of the queue . My main concern was that none of the available tables had been cleared or cleaned which i then proceeded to do. I went to get a high chair both of which has not been cleaned from previous use and therefore unhygienic. I asked a lady for a cloth who carried out a cursory effort to clean it.However the lady who bought the food was very friendly and helpful. I do appreciate that they are busy but expect a standard of hygiene to be maintained .

Popped in for lunch today and my husbands order was overlooked (genuine mistake). We were given complimentary cakes as an apology even though we made no complaint and totally under stood that these things happen, lovely staff and excellent customer service, we will definitely be back soon. Thank you

The Summer Shop in Sidmouth Esplanade is a delightful ice cream parlor with inviting outdoor seating and stunning vistas. The staff is exceptionally amiable, and the selection of flavors, cones, and toppings is extensive. The shop itself exudes charm, while the patrons enjoy scrumptious coffee and ice cream. Moreover, this establishment offers non-dairy alternatives for those seeking a dairy-free treat. It has earned its reputation as the premier destination in Sidmouth for outstanding ice cream and coffee.
It was difficult to chose which ice cream to have - as they have such a wide range of flavours. The friendly staff encouraged us to take time to choose and we both enjoyed our choices. It's a lovely spot - just across from the main promenade where we sat to enjoy our ices and watch the sea.

Lovely staff. Had icecream which was so yummy and they were not mean with the scoops which is good🫶🏼would recommend 10/10

Unfortunately I had the worst mocha coffee I've ever encountered here. We only came to this shack because their sister premises, the so-called "Arches Beach Café & Takeout" refused to serve us, as they claimed they were closed, yet we were there within their trading hours - very uncaring and disinterested staff, seeing I was with my elderly mother and it was very cold. I also think the weird wooden seating construction at the front looks very cheap (a good reflection of the coffee and food, I feel!) and not befitting of Sidmouth's seafront at all. I wouldn't recommend any of the premises owned by "Wave Trading" based on my experience of both the Arches and Waves Beach Kiosk. This company has much social media presence and may appear professional and established, but I feel they are novices, personally - the food is rather overpriced whilst the coffee was borderline undrinkable! The Clock Tower café in Connaught Gardens is infinitely better and has been established for decades. Edit, 8:50pm, 17/12/24: You can threaten me as much as you like, I'm not taking down my review. You got terribly hung-up about one word on my previous review, so I've rewritten it to please you. I'm well within my rights to write a review which 100% reflects my experience at your two establishments. Rather than endlessly threaten me, look at it as an opportunity to improve. I look forward to hearing from your lawyers! P.S. I'm recording your replies, too.

Really lovely Marshfield ice-cream, a lovely wide range of flavours available in a cone, tub or in a milkshake. Friendly staff.
