Recently, I popped into this café in Passau with my mother, who had her heart set on trying their tantalizingly delicious-looking plum cake. Being the dutiful son, I obliged, and mom confirmed the cake was nothing short of top-notch—truly a pastry chef’s masterpiece. Now, you might wonder why this isn’t a full five-star shout-out. Well, as a coffee aficionado, I found myself slightly let down by my double espresso, which was on the weaker side and lacked the robust crema I was anticipating. It just didn’t live up to the hype. Despite the coffee hiccup, this café is a gem with an impressive array of cakes and chocolates that are worth stopping by for if you find yourself in Passau. It’s a must-visit for a sweet treat, just maybe pair it with something other than the espresso!

The cafe was recommended by our tour guide, I can see why. There's an amazing array of sweet treats to temp you. A lovely atmosphere as well. The rhubarb tart slice is big enough for 2 people, tasted amazing 😍

We had such a nice afternoon accompanied by coffee and some sweets. The waiter was excellent, we had the menu in English and the portions are BIG! Definitely try the crapes when you go there you'll be impressed. 😍 Everything seemed freshly baked and the coffee was really good, 100% worth it!

Seat at the terrace nice place but on top of a construction so not very nice. Salad was swimming in dressing the bottom of the plate was a soup. Toast was ok not more. Cakes look great bit disappointing.

Nice atmosphere, indoor & outdoor terrace seating, front terrace has outdoor seating for handicap, toilets located outside front seating area thru unmarked brown door, but several 1 & 2 steps involved, no ramps. Inside is ornate, plenty of seating, a large outdoor patio is accessed from the main inside area, surrounded by the church towers on one side, and can see Mariahilf on the right over the rooftops. Staff were friendly, Coffee was very good, must be clear on your order, they call coffees by different names than USA. The pastries and cakes looked fabulous. Staff spoke English well enough.

I love the chocolate cappuccino and apple strudel! The cafe is famous for their hot chocolate and that alone can be filling. Nice stop to be at from touring the beautiful Passau.

Awsome place to drink tea and eat a delicious piece of cake. The waitress was very nice and came with our order quickly. I recommend to sit outside, find a place on the terrace (if the weather allows it) and enjoy the view of the Dom!

Bizarre experience. Very slow. Extremely unwilling to try to understand us even when we pointed at exactly what we wanted. I kind of suspect their misunderstandings were intentional. Brought the wrong pastries, but fixing it was clearly not happening. Tried to enjoy what we got, but frankly, it was not very good. Interior is nice at least?

You can eat sandwiches , hamburgers, pastas, schnitzels and other small dishes and you can drink many different types of teas and coffees at very affordable prices in a btfl environnement ! In summer you can sit outside on the terras. The waiter was very professional and kind ! Really a place to discover if you are in Passau !

I don’t live in Germany but I visit at least 5 times a year. Every time I’m here I stop by. The food is nice the drinks are good as well. I really love the positive energy of the owner when he is behind the bar! I will keep visiting!

Wish I could give -10 for the service! We visited this place on Halloween night for dinner based on a local friend' recommendation. It was crowded and service was worse. The beer had a fly floating in it and thankfully we noticed it before drinking. Showed this waitress and waited forever to get a replacement. We were three, though the order was noted properly, it was forgotten and messed up. One of the drinks was initially forgotten, we had to ask and wait again. While Kräuter Tee was ordered, they served green tea. Informed this and waited again. One of us received the food promptly, the other 2 waited for 30 minutes for food and the waiters. Finally we caught hold of one passed by us and informed that we haven't received the food yet. She went and came with a embarrassed face. Apparently it was forgotten; she apologized and asked if we are ok to accept a free Espresso for this mistake. We said we will decide later, after the food - didn't know how long it will take for Espresso to arrive and we dint want to spend the entire night waiting at this place! The waitress informed the owner and the lady with him, they never bothered to come and talk to us or anything. Even more colder behaviour! When the food finally came, it was clear that they just managed to serve it with whatever was available by then. Another 15-20mins of waiting to pay the bill! Too bad experience for a Halloween night. They couldn't handle the crowd. They don't give a damn about customer service. Better to avoid this place.

Waited ten minutes to order drinks, then another twenty to get the drinks which were warm by that point. Got another round for some reason and had the same issue. Then had to wait twenty minutes to pay after asking for the check. It looked like it wasn't due to staff shortage or busyness because I could see the waitresses talking amongst each other and standing around. Nice place otherwise but the wait service was so bad I'll never be back.

3 out of 3 times I ordered there, they got the order wrong. In 2 cases I got a ""normal" instead of a "small" Pizza and in one case I got a "small" instead of a "normal" Pizza. Only in one out of the 3 cases they were kind enough to give an extra drink to the order as compensation. In all cases I had to pay for what they got wrong and not what I ordered or wait for the right Pizza to be made.

No menu in other language so had to google what the menu said. Pricey for what it offers and the food definitely not what should be. Ordered a quatro staggione pizza and had 3 slices of ham on the hole pizza. The crust was good tasting but very poorly when talking about toppings.

Pizza was great according to my friends who actually ordered. And the place has a very nice atmosphere. Staff was very friendly too, considering it was a Sunday night and it was packed. I would suggest, if possible, to add a gluten free option for pizzas or pasta for us the celiacs, although the salad was pretty good.

Although I appreciate they serve gultenfree products, I ordered 3 GF breads. They came sealed in a plastic bag, hyper hot, all sweating and therefore they were melted into a paste. Absolutely horrendous. The other breakfast components were ok-ish. The room was very hot.

Really good experience instead the Sacher Café in Wien. Service really good, food very tasty. We went to both place and the ambiance was really nice. In the Diwan café the panorama is really nice with a nice view of the city and the Danube. I can recommend really to do the experience. Breakfast are really good.

A beautiful cafe with sensational views over Passau, especially in autumn 🍂. We were lucky, just became a great place at the window. Reservations are unfortunately not possible, but the seats directly at the window are simply breathtaking. The cakes were super tasty and very fresh. The hot chocolate has no Taste at all, the different flavors are hardly to find a different - only when you add a lot of sugar, we would have expected more. Likewise, a lactose-free variant would be desirable. Nevertheless, the staff has been friendly and helpful even if just busy. 👍

The only good thing is the views and the atmosphere. The food is lacking, the paninis aren't warm, it takes forever for the service, and the prices don't match the professionalism of the service. With these prices I would expect professional waiters. Hence we only had ordered one cappuccino which is under 10€ so no card payment (The year is 2025)

Wow! Ja that was my first reaction when I entered the Cafe Lounge. Once you step in, you are greeted by this magnificent view. Great service with assorted cakes & alot of options to choose from.

This is a must, great little bar. Really interesting little place. In the middle of the town. Barman real fun, nibbles with beer, nice friendly touch.

The ambience is relaxed and inviting. The cocktails are great, the snacks àre well presented and tasty, and the music played is very relaxing and pleasing. In all, a place I really love, and worthwhile repeat visits.

For our last evening in Passau (working here for a week) we stopped here for a drink. It rained for most of the evening but the drinks went down very well. Only problem was I asked for single brandy & the guy was bringing me doubles.. When I got the bill I had a shock.. The owner was fantastic & reduced the price plus we had 2 rounds of shots on him.. We accidentally found this cool cafe on a Saturday morning while wandering around town. It was super popular with several different indoor spaces, and also a large seating area on the big square across the road. Lovely bustling atmosphere with a very young crowd (this is a university town) but it’s a nice vibe to enjoy the quirky / cool decor and enjoy the lovely coffee and cakes. Large, interesting and varied menu with something for everyone. All the food that was coming out looked amazing (especially the breakfast-for-2 which comes on a 3-tier cake stand!) unfortunately we had already had our included breakfast at the hotel … so we will definitely need to come back here when in Passau again!

This is a really good Café with a rustic feel. I loved everything about the place: the decor, the coffee, tea, some really good banana bread and lovely rustic plates n cups. Don't miss this place if you are in Passau.

The location is central (just behind the dome), the interior (design and furniture) and the atmosphere (quiet and pleasant music plays in the background) is pretty good. Attractive for classy people. The staff is friendly, but on a busy day (like when I was there), they need a bit more waiters/waitresses (that's why the 4 stars) to not to keep the customers wait more than 5-10 minutes. It has big windows facing the street, which makes it really bright (huge plus!). The menu is quite ok, there's breakfast and lunch options, and all other things you'd find in a cafè. As it is central located, parking close to the place might be difficult. I will go here from time to time.

I loved Cafe Minoo. I found it by accident as I was walking through the charming cobbled streets of Passau. The ladies were very lovely, very friendly and helpful. Someone has invested allot of love and care into Cafe Minoo in the food, cakes, beverages, teas and coffee and also into the cosy quirky decoration of the cafe. I loved it here. I could of stayed much much longer enjoying the cakes and coffees and letting the day pass away. They also have free wifi for guests. I loved it and I highly recommend in trying it out. Probably one of the best cafes I have ever been to. Loved it. Thank you Cafe Minoo.

Best coffee in Passau, but you need to cross over the bridge to the other side to discover this lovely Cafè discretely located on a quiet square. Lots of outdoor seating and also indoor seating available, and free fast WiFi. They serve breakfast & lunch, a selection of cakes - delicious cakes! And, the coffee is really excellent.

The flat White is good ,the place is nice, the toilet is always super cold. If you took a bier they can bring you some snacks but just if you specifically ask for it . Once I took a flat White to take away and the owner probably asked me for Extra money if I wanted a tap on it. I payed more then 7 euros...

Good caffee is served, plus they have a reasonable selection of gins and tonics (huge plus for me). It's located just by a small square, so during the summer there are chairs, tables and benches outside, so it's pretty good to chill there with friends. The only downside is that the place itself is tiny: during the winter indoors can get easily crowded. Definitely worth having here a drink or two.

I have been here a few times. I always love the coffee, however I have gotten mixed responses from customer service. It all depends who is at the front desk. There is a guy that is usually very rude and feels very entitled to open his mouth and criticize everyone, even after he has asked for tip and you have given it to him. Try to ignore him and your experience will go well. Prices a bit high, coffee is served just at the right temperature but I would not consider it a place to work while having some coffee since it is very small.

I had been looking for a great apple strudel and it did not disappoint me. Including a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. The service was also wonderful. Thank you for concluding my search. Sorry, forgot to add that the cappuccino was super smooth. Wunderbar!!!

Best strudel! Our tour guide recommended eating here and we’re glad we did. Met others from our cruise enjoying their second visit of the day.

The big feat of this café is its 60's style vintage interior design, though it's a bit used and dirty by now. It's cosy and has a relaxed atmosphere. The pastry and coffee quality is fine, service is friendly but can be a bit slow at times. The location is good, right in the old city center. Prices are around Passau average.

The place is nice, right on the banks of the river. However, it's a bit outdated in regard to the menu, I think. I've asked for a café frapé and the guy looked at me like I was from outer space. He didn't even know what exactly that was. I've explained and said that the best he could do was ice coffee. I thanked him and settled for a cappuccino. The cappuccino was right as it should be, can't complain about that.

4 hours waiting for a train on a hot sunny day, my walk along the riverside ended here. With a coffee, cake and orange juice. Exactly what I needed, and enjoyed. Shade on the terrace, nice vista and no loud music. Seems like a highlight of the trip.

Orders always arrive late, though it has been acceptable so far thanks to the nice view; but nowadays you can apparently also hear a "was denn?!" from the employees if you ask a question (was not towards me luckily but it was super disturbing, and I also had my share from the impoliteness in a way). Because of the stylish interior, I decided to come here for a coffee and a roll. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed when it came to the food. My "Heidi" roll for just under ten euros was absolutely overpriced for the quality it delivered. A normal roll, the chicken was fibrous, not much bacon and the sauce was rather average. Far from a taste experience. The coffee was also not convincing in taste. Service was okay but nothing special. Unfortunately, a wannabe hip shop that doesn't deliver what is expected at all. Definitely overpriced. What a shame!

So many excellent options for lunch, hard to choose! Dishes look really nice and there is something for all tastes and from different cuisines. Vegan, veggy and a few meat options. Fresh salad and a lot of it in a bowl or on your plate. Next to the fountains and a park, with a terras to sit and eat. Juices and lemonade are mostly eco and no coca cola, but the better and healthier stuff. It's not cheap, but worth each euro! We had lunch here at the eighteenth birthday of our oldest daughter and it was a pleasure for all, young and old present.

Either dine-in or take-out, always happy to eat there! They offer very healthy and delicious lunch options. Gluten-free and vegan also possible.

Hands down, this is one of the best places to eat in Passau. Especially if you are near the university. My wife and I ate lunch here almost every day while we were teaching at the university this summer, and we are so glad we followed another faculty member's advice to check this place out. The staff is super friendly, the service is great, and the food ist total lecker! They have a wide variety of dishes, some of which are vegan or vegetarian friendly (and are clearly noted on their menu). Rotating soups and specials are also a nice touch. The coffee is great, and their pastries are also really good. Cannot wait to be back in Passau and to enjoy some more of this wonderful establishment.

A really Fantastic alfresco bar with super friendly service and a beautiful location overlooking the river. We loved it so much that we returned the next evening. It’s also very reasonably priced, and they have a food menu too. The best seats are along the stone wall overlooking the water and the bridge. Great atmosphere and beautiful views to enjoy the lovely summer evenings.

Lovely modern and comfortable little single-screen cinema that plays a good amount of original language movies… the attached cafe is very pleasant too. I would recommend avoiding the 3D showings though. A recent visit was ruined by the 3D projection failing not once but three times. I left about half way through the movie. Staff were generally not very attentive or especially apologetic regarding an issue that destroyed what should have been an immersive experience. Shame.

Windows of other buildings nearby take some of the privacy but there are cutains and they are all thick beige.. nothing too dark, nor transparent. Everything is tidy and clean. Staff is helpful. People mention the bell chiming as bothering but we thought it added to our holiday charm. At least from suite 5 they sound quite distant and soothing. The floors squeek but that didnt bother us roo much if you consider its dimue to an authentic old building and the rooms look so romantic, light, and charming, yet modrn kitchen, bath, wc, as well as modern sinks with taps. Only the bathroom door, in our opinion, should have had the same linnen covering over its' windiws as the outside door and bedroom door. It was still too transparent to have adjacent to the kids bedroom. And if we had switched bedrooms, the parents would have had 2 x single bed and kids 1x double bed.

I didn't stay here, but gad a breakfast in the cafe. Very cosy and heartwarming place. Apple cake with cream is awesome.
