The 13 best restaurants to have dinner in Rattvik

I ordered one of the most expensive entrees on the menu (455kr) and a quarter of my beef was an inedible piece of gristle. A total waste of 113kr. The rest of my party really enjoyed it but I was quite disappointed.

Had an amazing dinner. Was really positively surprised by the width of flavours and dishes. Only hickup was that we had an almost hour long gap waiting for our last dish since a lot of other guests arrived, bit of a bummer but still a great experience.

Beautiful setting and cozy ambiance matched by really well prepared food makes Bruntegården one of the top spots of Rättvik. Service leaves plenty to wish for however which is an unnecessary negative factor that easily could have been amended. Updated two years later: Service has improved to a level more suited to this level of gastronomy. The food has also improved despite moving up from an already elevated position. Five well earned stars. The suggested fixed menus are simply stellar in both ambition and performance in the kitchen. Very impressive given the size of Rättvik.

Solid modern cooking focussing on local and traditional produce in a relaxed setting with lovely views. The food is interesting and suprising. Flavours are big and punchy, but generally well balanced. The fish dishes (char and smoked perch) were high points of the meal along with a terrific apple dish (with superb alcohol pairing). Also a mention for the alcohol - very complimentary pairings by a sommelier who clearly knows his stuff.

The food we had in this cozy restaurant tasted heavenly good! It really was amazing. Comes with a higher price tag but that is totally worth it! Highly recommended!

We only ate lunch. It was pretty yummy. Bad parts are that we had to wait more than half an hour and also there were super many flies chasing the food.

We have visited this restaurant on a Sunday, at approx. 16 o´clock, which is not a popular time to eat in Sweden. Even tough, we didn´t have to wait to get a table and there was plenty of free tables available it took more than 30min until we got served our four meals, a.o. a burger and some grilled meat dishes, which shouldn´t take that much time. The meals were OK and tasty. All in all the food was OK, so in case you are walking the streets of Rättvik and feel hungry, you may be comforted, but hopefully a bit more promptly. 😉

The food was good. We were 9 people and most of us ordered oxfile and it was good. I was surprised with their siders, it was really good. The last time i was there was 4 years ago and i appreciate more their siders this time. The one thing i dont like was there was too little space between our tables and the other table, but overall we had a great time.

Amazing place alot of people eating and drinking! I look around and it's alot of different dishes I would love to try! Thought about the biggest burger 400 gran of tasty burger! Sounds good but I ordered "fläskfile" and by company bought ribs! The food is amazing the sides you have with the food is tasty and well made! The only thing I wanted changed, was to grill the corn just a little bit more! But I want to return again next time we are in Rättvik! Love it 4.5/5!!

Food was delicious, decor was good ,staff really nice and my semi-vegetarian option was good. What they fall alittle short on is the alittle to loud music and I'm not suger coating that its pretty pricey. All tho you get what you pay for. All around good place for a steak or not a steak.

Would defiantly drive from Stockholm to Big Street BBQ just to eat those delicious ribbs again. Very cosy place, nice house music and friendly staff. Place is not pricy. Even though this is Rättvik it could be smart to book a table in advance. Remember to taste the beer from the local brewery. Dalabryggeri.

Loved it despite the rain. The mixed grill for two was lovely. Loads of food for two adults and two kids. I also appreciate the large selection of beer.

Food was really good. Burgers are Handmade and Fries were crisp. Milkshake (also Veggie) was delicious! Only downside that you have to order for yourself-no staff will come and take your order. Music was a mix of oldies and country.

Amazing place with great ambience! It felt like time travel :) the food was great. The fries had a nice aroma that I didn’t find anywhere else. Definitely an interesting place to visit (not only when you’re around).

Fantastic location and good food, service could have been better but it was during lunch so dinner might differ. While not the best burger i have had it was tasty and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. If they want to make some improvements i would try and develop some crust ton the patty’s and maybe grind the meat them selfs. All in all a cool place to eat.

Pretty beautiful in its own strange way because the theme of the place is from 50's American restaurants and I would say it's pretty authentic 👍. Food was very good both in taste and price. Beef patty could have been slightly juicier but regardless I must say the quality of meat 🥩 was really good. Overall full marks.

Food was amazing, you certainly get excellent value for money. We ordered extra fries with our salads thinking we would get a small bowl, instead for 49kr we received enough fries to feed a small army. Cooked to perfection. Will definitely visit again 5*

Simple and friendly place with very good pizza. Got a double calzone, gluten free margherita and Cypern. We were allowed to sit with our dog in the veranda. Will definitely come back.

This pizzeria deserves a full 5 stars and nothing less. The pizzas are truly the best we found in Sweden. Very good menu including vegetarian and even vegan options. Super friendly owner. Unassuming humble location that pleasantly surprised us serving absolutely delicious and flavourful vegan pizzas! We had the ‘Florens’ and the ‘Venezia’; perfect base, moreish toppings, deserving of the awards. Friendly fun staff who were happy to modify our order. Will definitely be regulars here.

Pizza wasn’t as good as they claim, but it was really nice. We tried BBQ with oumph and pesto with walnuts, both nice (130sek each and extra 10sek per person if sit in). I did enjoy this pizza, it’s one of the better ones.

Fabulous place, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that stays with you. For an outdoor concert location, you are unlikely to do better, at least in Sweden. The acoustics are unique but I imagine the mixer still had the job cut out for him. Chess in Concert was great but somewhat shrill in places.

A lifetime experience. Surely the most spectacular venue I've ever been to. The forest all around worth a walk as well, especially if you're here in August and you like blueberries and mushrooms ☺️.

What an awesome place! It's in the middle of nowhere but the buses work wonderfully well, everything was super well organised and clear even for us, not speaking any of the language. I definitely recommend it, it's beautiful and the sound is incredible. Contrary to what they say on the website, you can bring a small bag. I saw most ladies with a small crossbody bag and I wish I had taken one too!

An exciting concert 'hall' in an old quarry. Adequate food stalls, drink bars and other facilities. The area was clean. The concert was excellent: acoustics and atmosphere in their own class.

Really nice venue in an old limestone quarry. Picturesque, but also well staffed and good infrastructure. There are never enough places to sit at venues, but there was a good bit of seating. Restrooms were nice, and there is a whole food court with lots of options. Great staff, and plenty of them. I recommend bug spray and a jacket - even in Summer. I also recommend the concert buses, well worth the price.

Incredible beautiful concert location in Dalarna's län. An old quarry turned into a concert location, with space for as much as 6000 people. The acoustics are awesome, where ever you are, you hear the music clear as can be. The only (big) minus are the food and drink prices, which are scandalously high (around 20€ for a burger, 10€ for a half litre can of beer)... Maybe it was just with this concert (I saw Heilung perform their last ceremony there), but as you can't bring any food or drink, you will have to bring plenty of money (card only). And in a place as big as this there should be some spot for people who smoke, especially with concerts (the whole location is smoke free).

What a perfect location to this restaurant! Just by the lake and so awesome to sit inside, gorge on to some good food and enjoy snow outside. Food was scrumptious too. Loved the place for the view

Great location and food was okay, but service was very very slow. It is located next to the lake and beach area, so taking a walk after dinner is nice. Probably would not come back however.

The tuna steak was fantastic and rest of dishes too. Selection of wine good with a beautiful white wine from Puglia, south Italy. The staff was kind enough to help us with a table even though we didn’t have a booking but there was some waiting with olives (should have arrived with drinks at the start) and with napkins and cutlery missing at our table. Toilet not so clean even thought was the start of the evening and staff although was nice, felt was chatting a lot behind the counter. Overall great experience and amazing overlooking at the lake.

I recommend this place, the oyster are very fresh, our steak and grilled shrimp are also nice. The location is superb by the lake, the service and staff are also very nice.

Edit: I just ate here again, in late August of 2019. My former review, from 2018, is below this one. We were ushered to a table that lacked cutlery and water glasses. We had to point this out to staff. The wait time between starter and main was over an hour. The starter tasted good; it was well made. Service was slow and staff was (still) lackadaisical. We waited for service for over 25 minutes after the main. The main arrived and was very nice. We were then asked to leave our table due to overstepping the two-hour mark (due to staff lateness) and were moved to the lounge area. Dessert was truly fantastic; cloudberries with a single miniature churro and browned butter. Made reservations for 17:00 o'clock, but had to wait for the maitre'd for 20 minutes. They couldn't find my reservation but we were seated anyway, which was nice. A lackadaisical waiter gave us minutes after ten minutes. The vegetarian main was nice! Definitely worth the money, that main, but the staff had nil engagement despite a half-filled room. No charm, but good food.

If there really is a heaven on earth, it's here at Solgårdskrogen. The food, the service, the atmosphere; is all top notch. Highly recommend the 7-course 'Season Menu.' It's an all evening event that will change the way you see farm-to-table eating. Show up early to enjoy the property and relax before the dinner begins. Can't wait to come back!

We came here for lunch. They only have two items on the menu for lunch: a hamburger (no fries available) or a vegetable burger. OK, a third item is a kids meal hamburger. But if you don't like burgers, don't come here for lunch. That said, it was an amazing burger and well worth the drive. We also had the cole slaw and chicken pate sides, which cost extra. You order at the outdoor kitchen/BBQ area, then they give you a pager to pick up your order in a picnic basket when it is ready. We ate in the open air greenhouse, but there were other also eating outside. An amazing lunch experience, highly recommended!

What a find! This place just showcases the amazing produce of the area in a beautiful setting. Really friendly and professional service and without a doubt one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Very kid friendly too with the animals to look at. Can’t wait to go back.

Wow, amazing gem hidden in the outlands of Rättvik. This place is surrounded by a vast forrest but still open, allowing place and site to let you feel welcome.. The service conducted by the staff will be remembered long after leaving. Thanks

A restaurant with big ambitions and they deliver food at a high level. Local producers as well as there own products is the base for the food. Definitely worth a visit but be sure to make a reservation. If you are going to Dalhalla for a concert or musical Solgardskrogen have a menu option for that.

We are vegetarian and love Asian food. This restaurant has various Asian cuisines (Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese) on the menu which always makes me suspicious. We opted for vegetarian spring rolls and a Chinese vegetarian dish with boiled rice. The portions were large and filling. The food was slightly salty although this I have found in ALL Swedish food and is more my taste buds used to lower salt. The chilli level was also set to ‘Swedish’ so I had to add in extra chilli oil available on the table. The service was friendly and the decor was clean so nothing to fault it on.

If you are looking for affordable and tasty sushi, this is the place you should visit, of course we will come back next time we are in Rättvik. Första intrycket var positivt, sushin såg riktigt fin och inbjudande ut. Sushin var välkomponerad och väldigt fräsch och smakrik, detta är den klart bästa sushin vi än så länge ätit. Det enda som kunde vara bättre är mängden ingefära som ingår, jag älskar ingefära och beställde även extra men ändå så var det i snålaste laget. Är ni ute efter prisvärd och välsmakande sushi så är det detta ställe ni ska besöka, givetvis så kommer vi åter nästa gång vi är i Rättvik.

The short ribs got raving reviews and while the beer selection isn’t all that great there are at least a few decent ones on the menu. The one thing to seal the seal is the attentive staff. Refreshing to meet people who both know and like what they do, and as a consequence lifts the mood of their customers. Hats off!

I had the hamburger called Royal something which was excellent. The food and staff in this restaurant were much much better than the place nearby called Big Street BBQ. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Nice staff and the taste of the food is nice enough but the serving size compared to the price is a bit steep.
