Nice quality restaurant. The vibe and the food was really nice. They have a good wine menu but we will have wish a taste option for the local wines.

The atmosphere is cool, down in a cellar. The service is friendly and fast, little bit more eye for the detail would be good. The food was a little disappointing. The special fish was not of the best taste and the traditional bread filled with pork was a bit boring. Despite that it was fine. The chicken Caesar was good! One of the white wines was good. For wine lovers probably a good place. Just to eat, a little underwhelming.

This was a truly lovely Italian restaurant. It took us a little while to find it, as it’s tucked away in a quiet spot, but it’s absolutely worth it. We received a warm and friendly welcome, and the whole place has an authentic Italian charm. The menu isn’t large, but that’s part of its strength — every dish is original and outstanding in both flavor and presentation. We were a group of seven, and every one of us enjoyed an excellent meal. The food was full of taste, the portions were generous, and the prices were very fair. As it’s also an enoteca, the wine selection is fantastic, and the staff give great recommendations. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience — great food, excellent value for money, and genuinely friendly service that made the evening perfect.

We ate here for my birthday, the staff were incredibly attentive, we ate great food, the platter for starter and Gnocchi. The maltese wine was a hit. Well worth a visit and a good price too.

Fantastic food, good portion size and excellent value. We came of a Saturday evening without a reservation and they kindly accommodated us. The service was knowledgeable and professional. The wine menu was vast with great recommendations from the waiter. The beef cheek was 10/10.

This is a well run restaurant. Owner is very délogent. The food is good however had the Bil Gunglien out of interest found the meat over seasoned with too high a bread content

My partner and me, we were absolutely thrilled! First they gave us a nice table even dough it was all reserved. They gave us some appetizers - grilled bread with fresh paste made of beans, black olives seasoned with garlic and pepper. Delicious! We arrived to Trabuxu Bistro on a late Wednesday evening, and they gladly accepted our group of seven people. The atmosphere and decoration inside the restaurant was beautiful. The menu was varied, coupled with an extensive wine list. If you love wine, you’ll absolutely love it here. Before the starters came in, we were served some fresh bread with a homemade butter / red pesto which was amazing. I had a bruschetta for starters, hands down the best I’ve ever had. Even simple things can be amazing when done the right way. For the main course, I had the pasta of the day, which was a rabbit ragu, which was good. All in all, the food was great and so was the wine. Our waiter was really fun and helpful. The only negative aspect of our dinner was the waiting time for the main courses, which I also accept considering that we were seven. Come here if you want good food and wine in Valletta!

As a British maltese I can truly say the food is authentic cooked in house amazing fresh pasta ! Fresh pesto and amazing nuts served with the meal. True maltese food!! 10/10

I went to this restaurant twice time to attend to a clients. The interior, food, and service were all really great, and my clients were also very satisfied 😊 Everything here is seasoned just right, especially the rabbit meat that is usually served in red wine stew, but here you can enjoy it in white wine stew, so be sure to order it. Both waiters and waitresses always provided the best service, giving me the time to translate and explain things to my clients. I will definitely visit again, thank you so much 😊

This is considered to be one of the best restaurants in Valletta, although I wouldn’t agree. The food was good but average. We started our meal with the cod fritters as a starter, couldn’t taste the fish. I had the risotto with bone marrow which was a bit bland. My partner had the rigatoni with sausage which was good but again, not amazing. As for the service, we believe that it could have been better, it felt a bit rushed but also forgotten about. As for the atmosphere, it is well decorated but small.

Amazing cocktails. Great vibe. Friendly staff! We sat outside on the steps and enjoyed the great view. Such a great experience to sit on the steps with a small handmade table. The cocktails were incredible and creative, fair price for the location. I did get pooped on by a bird while sat outside! Staff were so helpful and got me a special “I got shat on” sticker (so it must happen a lot!) this defo added to the experience 🤣🐦 Would happily visit again and again!

We were in Malta at the end of May for 4 nights and stopped at Cafe Society for cocktails on the steps twice it was so nice. The service by Matz from France was what made it so special! He remembered what we ordered and was so friendly. Stop by and have a drink on the steps !

I love this place! This bar at the steps of the old town in Valletta offers some incredible cocktails, a super friendly staff and a great atmosphere! All this supported by DJs, live acts and shows. Perfect to enjoy some drinks, the music inside the bar or at the steps outside. You will always be welcomed with a smile and good vibes.

My favourite cocktail spot! Every one was unique and inventive, and it was fun to sit out on the stairs. Only issue was cleanliness, the cushions to sit on were very dirty and the steps themselves were covered in bird poop. If the cushions were proper garden ones that could be wiped down that would improve it a lot, and be a nicer environment to sip the delicious cocktails.

This was really the best espresso Martini in my whole life 😭❤️ these guys here take training and evolving as bartenders serious! Next level game they are playing. I would Give 10 stars if I could. Also a really untouristic alternative place with really cool people from all over the world that are thinking out of the box. You'll make New friends quickly! Juan, we miss you already! He was an incredible and knowledgeable bartender. We spent a couple hours here waiting for our excursion. We didn't want to leave! Everything was creative and so many things made in house. Whether sitting at the bar with Juan our sitting outside enjoying the view, we wish this was our neighborhood bar in California. Staff were so friendly and kind. It gives you dive bar vibes but great music and drinks and truly a hidden gem.

The wine and the cheese were heavenly. Great service and recommendations. They were fast and knew everything about the food and drinks. We’ll definitely come again and recommend this place! It’s good to know they mostly serve wine and only be the bottle though. And you have to be quick to get a table at nighttime.

Easy to miss if you’re not aware what a gem you are passing by, this wine bar has a beautiful selection of wines. The oldest and by far the best wine bar in Malta. We found this place by chance and were welcomed by Andres, we have felt like home since the first time. Since then, we also brought our family here and were welcomed by the owner Chris, who embodies the spirit of this establishment. Do try the chicken pâté! It’s the only item which hasn’t been removed from the menu since this bar was founded 24 years ago. The personnel feels like part of the soul of this quaint little place. Lovely spot tucked away in the alleys of Valletta, perfect for enjoying wine and some small bites in a lively and friendly atmosphere. They also have a good selection of digestifs for the end of the evening. Andresito was very skilled and professional. My girlfriend and I will definitely be back!

Friendly service quality with wide wine menus and cheese options. Especially the cheeses were delicious. However, the outside seating was not comfortable because it was sloping, but it is still a restaurant with a nice ambiance in one of the side streets of Valletta. I recommend it for fine dining

Rampila sits inside Valletta’s historic bastion walls with a vaulted dining room and a terrace built along the ramparts. The setting is special and worth seeing. Food leans Maltese + Mediterranean with dishes like rabbit and the house crab and lobster ravioli in prawn bisque. Execution on our visit was fine but nothing felt particularly inventive and the quality to price ratio was weak for what arrived at the table. Service was friendly and the atmosphere unique, yet for the cost I expected clearer flavors and more ambition on the plate. For me it is a place to visit for the location rather than for standout cooking.

I’d come here again. Everything was perfect. They don’t have many Maltese options. The steak was so good, pistachio cake was awesome. However the service was kind of slow. We finished our appetizers before the bottle of wine came. It seemed like they can’t keep up with the crowd.

Dinner at Legligin, Valletta – A True Maltese Experience I finally visited Legligin Restaurant in Valletta, and it lived up to everything I’d heard — authentic, intimate, and full of character. The evening started with a warm welcome and a short story about the name Legligin — it comes from the Maltese word for the sound of wine being poured, “glug-glug.” That alone set the tone. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place built around conversation, family, and good wine. I chose the tasting menu, which is the only option here — no à la carte, just trust the kitchen. Every dish felt honest and homemade. The fish soup was light but deeply flavored, full of fresh local fish, carrots, and herbs. You could tell the broth had been simmering slowly for hours. Then came the pasta, perfectly cooked, coated in a creamy tomato-based sauce with herbs and a touch of spice. Simple, comforting, and delicious — the kind of dish that doesn’t try too hard because it doesn’t need to. The beef stew was my favorite — tender chunks of meat with mushrooms and garlic in a creamy sauce. It reminded me of something you’d get in a home kitchen on a Sunday, rich and soulful. For dessert, a chocolate cake soaked in cream, topped with candied fruit and coconut. Sweet, dense, and satisfying, it felt like a festive Maltese twist on a classic pudding. Everything paired beautifully with a local wine, Marsovin Antonin 2023, smooth and balanced, with a depth that worked perfectly with the food. The space itself feels like a time capsule — old stone walls, soft lighting, and just a few tables. It’s small, personal, and cozy, as if you’re dining in someone’s home. You can feel the family touch: the owner, Chris Mifsud Bonnici, still works closely with his wife and son. That warmth translates into everything — the food, the service, the atmosphere. Legligin isn’t flashy or modern, and that’s exactly why it’s special. It’s a reminder that great dining doesn’t need to be complicated — just real people, real food, and a love for what they do. If you’re in Malta, book ahead. Come hungry. And don’t ask for the menu — just let them cook for you.

Such an memorable experience. It was my last day so there was no better way to end my stay on this beautiful island than in Legligin. Ambiance, pottery, plates, employees everything just was amazing. The food was so fresh and tasty, carefully selected Maltese dishes interwoven with Mediterranean cuisine. And I really like the meaning of word "legligin". Everything was so unique!

We stumbled upon this bustling restaurant around 10:30 PM and were warmly greeted by Granada. It turned out to be one of my favorite dining experiences in Europe. The fusion of Maltese and Mediterranean cuisine was exceptional, with generous portions and outstanding service. The food is amazing and it tells a story of Valletta. It is flavourful and interesting. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They take pride in the fact that everything is made fresh. At the end of the meal we were given some delicious passion fruit jelly, and when the waiter knew I love it (as I asked if they sell them as well), he brought us another two pieces. What a stunning venue for a meal the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. Firstly I have to admit I was vying for a two course meal but the tuna was for a minimum of two people. I was therefore persuaded to have the tasting menu as that included the tuna (for one). A expresó martini to whet the appetite was splendid.

Superb food, attentive staff and atmosphere was second to none. We were looking out over the harbour with delightful surroundings. Starters were excellent choice. We had ravioli and the tomatoes. Beef was cooked perfectly. Puddings were just right.

Where am I gonna start is the question. What is there not to like with Ambience when having the grand harbour as your background. The food, is a feast of flavours and culture with the food cards matched to popular Malta streets and landmarks. The service is nothing less than exceptional. Very attentive and professional staff. My gf and I had one of the best experiences ever. Ps - do not leave without trying the dessert. You'll thank me later

I dined alone, on a solo holiday, at this lovely little place. They set me up at the window with a view, as requested, because it was too windy outside. It was one of the best dining experiences I have had. I was there for 2.5 hours, having the 7 course tasting menu, paied with wines for each course. Stellar! Each course came with a little description card as they were named after a street in Valletta. The card gave a little history of the street the food was named after. I was so excited for the risotto, I forgot to take a picture! Maria snuck my camera into the kitchen and took a picture of one the chef was preparing! Sorry Chef, for invading your creative space! I highly recommend this restaurant. It has a great atmosphere, great food and very friendly and helpful staff. Bravo Harbour Club! And thank you.

The experience was very fun! It is not only about eating but also experiencing different flavours, they give you some free entries. The dessert was wonderful. The only thing, I expected more history in between the dishes, as it was mentioned each one represented a part of history of Malta. But I would come back again.

Amazing breakfast venue with even more amazing staff. With a fantastic view down to the sea, thus is a great venue. The set breakfasts were just beyond compare and the staff so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back! Special call out to the team lead Katho for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Tucked away on a quiet side street for pedestrians near the Rosselli Hotel, Grain street sits adjacent to its sister restaurant with a Michelin star called Under Grain and they share the same kitchen. The two spacious outdoor dining areas — perfect for warm days with chilled background music. The terrace is stylish and inviting, setting a refined yet relaxed tone. Inside, there’s a small bar and a couple of tables near the entrance, giving an intimate first impression. The meal started well with excellent bread, tuna tapenade, good-quality olive oil, and marinated olives. The starter of pig’s ears — thinly sliced, lightly battered, and slightly sweet with a touch of sauce — was an interesting and well-executed dish, great for sharing. For mains, I tried the local fresh fish (sea bass) with Bronte pistachio, pink grapefruit, and basil. The flavours were pleasant, and the nut crust added nice texture, but the portion was disappointingly small and felt poor value for money. The Lasagne ‘Nera’ — a seafood lasagna made with squid ink, calamari, and a hint of nduja — was very good, rich in flavour and beautifully balanced (€19/€22). I also sampled the local Hauteville Cabernet–Shiraz blend. It was fine, but again, the pour was on the small side for the price. Service, while polite, was glacially slow — a true example of the “slow food” experience, though perhaps unintentionally

It was the best food experience during our 6 nights staying in Malta. The food was delicious, especially local tomato salad with burratina and passion fruit tart, service on the highest level, atmosphere- chic and elegant. Worth to recommend and come back!

We spent almost two weeks at Hotel St. John and had the pleasure of enjoying the breakfast. Every day was a delight. A heartfelt thank you for the excellent service and outstanding care. A huge thank you goes to the breakfast manager Katho, who, together with her wonderful team, turned every morning into an experience with great oversight and professionalism. The food is good but not amazing and, surprisingly, the service and atmosphere was a little disappointing. Firstly, and most importantly perhaps, I enjoyed most of the food. All courses bar the main course were enjoyable. The main course of chateaubriand was not cooked to my liking and the chewy nature of the meat spoilt my enjoyment (I don't know whether it was cooked correctly as we were not asked nor told how it would be done). I was disheartened to see the chef lean on gold and silver-leaf for some dishes as it adds absolutely nothing. The food should speak for itself. The main issue with Under Grain was unfortunately with the style of service. It was all too stuffy and rigid. My previous visits to Michelin starred establishments have always been improved by the exemplary yet relaxed service. The whole staff seemed slightly on edge as our fellow diners appeared to include 'influencers' and a reviewer of some description. Maybe because of this the focus was elsewhere, but there must've been an issue with our main course as we waited basically an hour between starter and main course. This is far too long to wait, yet it was not mentioned at all by the staff. After this, the evening soured and later courses were not enjoyed as much as a result. We declined the cheese course option as it was now getting late. The waiter seemed offended by this and the staff barely spoke to us after that. I was also disappointed by the wine flight. I know enough about wine to hold my own, yet I was recited a bland script about each wine that added nothing to my knowledge. The miniscule pourings meant I didn't get to enjoy the wine with the food as I had either finished my wine during the wait between courses, or, on rare occasions the food came out quickly, only had two small sips to pair with the food. Overall, the whole evening goes on too long. Most reviews said the evening lasts around three hours. We were there for four hours and skipped the cheese course. This over-long service was needless and reduced the enjoyment rather than enhanced. We sat at 1900 and the main course was served at 2200. Lastly, I have never been welcomed back from the toilets in my life, yet that seems to be a policy here. Very odd, very uncomfortable. Discretion would be the better customer service option in this instance.

We had a lovely dinner at Grain Street! It still felt like a "fancy" dinner even though this was Under The Grain's less expensive sister restaurant. Service and food were all phenominal! Highly reccomend!

Really disappointing on every level unfortunately. Lackluster and not an authentic British experience. The chips are skinny cheap fries. Not chips. No decent beers on tap. Would have been nice to have a darker beer available on tap. Cisk and Carlsberg only. Heavy battered fish so I asked for light batter and got the saddest old fish that ever swam in a fish farm.

We had the fish and chips and Beef pie.I got 2 pieces of fish due to the portions being so small I am guessing, now to the actual dish itself...... there was more batter on each portion of the fish so hardly any fish! Very disappointing! The Pie was not any better with a serious lack of meat.( my partner told me) I made the waiter aware of this upon paying and he told me he would let the kitchen know, to be honest you guys need to do better in an area where there is so much choice.

A must visit place if you want to experience true British vibes. Beautiful dark interior with the option to sit at the bar. Great selection of classic beers. Prices are reasonable. The music is also great and really adds to the atmosphere

Really nice pub in Valleta. It is roomy and well presented, spacious & well maintained. It's the kind of place you can just sit back & relax in and while away a few hours drinking Stella & putting the world to rights. Staff were very friendly but not pushy. They brought out some French bread with pesata & butter beans garnished with some rocket free of charge. We didn't eat here so it wouldn't be fair to comment. Same with the atmosphere, we were there around 3pm on a weekday so it was quiet. It's in a great location & I imagine that it's heaving in the evening.

It looks very impresive but the staff is trying to be as unwelcoming as they can. We sat at a terrace and the young waitres came to our table, didn't say a word, no hello, no welcome, just placed the menus at the table and left. I felt transperent, sorry I spent a single Euro there.

Amazing bar hidden down a side street in valletta (the gut). Amazing Cocktails on and off the menu. Friendly customer service who are great to talk to and knowledgeable of the spirits. Great ambience (nice music from neighbouring venues) plus great location. Can't wait to go back. I'll be seeing you guys again soon

***The Perfect Hidden Gem*** Cocktail masterclass sessions are a must! Extremely welcoming and enthusiastic staff tailor the sessions to compliment the clients pallet. The session was great value for money and you are treated like absolute VIP royalty. The story behind the Cocktail bar is fascinating and feels like a family run bar with meaning behind each drink, with some wonderful twists to classic drinks.

I actually quite liked the cocktails we were served here, but the overall experience isn't quite as polished as a bar of this calibre should be. First of all, their offering isn't clear - let me outline it for you. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays they offer a classic cocktail menu. On Thursdays to Sundays they offer signature cocktails. The reason is because their signature drinks take 24-48 hours to prepare, so they serve a simplified menu on Tuesday and Wednesday, focusing on prepping for the rest of the week. If that had been clear upfront, I would've probably liked this place more. Instead, we walked in and were told that they only serve classic cocktails. When we returned two nights later, a different bartender explained the situation. I thought the cocktails were decent but they are very expensive. €12 for a classic cocktail - I saw the bartender use a bottle mixer for my Paloma is definitely on the high side for Malta. And then there's the signature cocktails for €18 - good, but not outstanding; I've had better for the price. I liked the little touches though - dehydrated fruit and charred leaf garnishes.

Busy little cocktail bar serving creative house cocktails, plus the classics. My cocktail was bit more miss than hit, but the negroni everyone else ordered was excellent. Prices are EUR 14 - 18, so at the slightly more expensive end.

Beautiful rooftop setting with the perfect mix of chill and energy. Amazing views especially for sunsets and at night. Mattia welcomed us, knew exactly what to recommend, and made the night even better with great conversation. I went with his tip – the “Dome Glow” – and it was flawless. Sundar’s craftsmanship behind the bar was impressive; every drink was a work of art in both flavor and presentation. We tried all three Negronis plus the Crimson Blossom Fizz – each one balanced, creative, and absolutely delicious. Enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend it.

We had cocktails on the rooftop at Over Grain. The atmosphere was perfect, and Mattia was our wonderful and attentive waiter/ barman. The cocktails were delicious would highly recommend.

Came to visit a few days ago, had a peculiar experience at the bar. Explicit taste of the cocktails. Moreover, the service and the team were amazing and extremely proficient. Amazing servers, especially Mattia, he was more than kind to me and my friends, he even spent some time taking pictures of us until we liked one of them!! Always paying attention whether we need anything else at the table Furthurmore the view is absolutely stunning, I recommend going at sunset, that s the best time to be there. The drinks are on point, you get exactly what you ask for and the prices are more than fair. Pass by here if you are in Valletta! Also snacks are on the house.

We needed a relaxing evening and had a wonderful couple of cocktails accompanied by some lovely background music and gorgeous views. The cocktails were superb, so much so we asked the waiter Mattia for the recipe and he wrote it down for us! He was really charming and you could tell was passionate about his work. Only downside is we didn’t get chance to come back. Lovely🫶🏼

I’m a craft beer guy and my wife is a cider connoisseur, so when we find a place that hit both area’s it paints a picture and a great time. Every staff member were very attentive and knowledgeable about the craft beer and ciders. Good seating with AC inside and they have an option of beers to go. If you’re in Malta 🇲🇹 go and have a great time like I did!

Tucked away on a quiet corner of Old Bakery Street, 67 Kapitali is the kind of place you discover once and then keep coming back to. It’s not just a bar—it’s a cozy little sanctuary for anyone who appreciates local craft beer, thoughtfully prepared platters, and a chilled, welcoming vibe. Watch out for the staircase to the loos tho, definitely done sober !!

Great selection of international and local craft beers. They do sell the cans to go! Also have 11 beers from local breweries on tap. Service could be improved— They could check in on you more to see if you want another beer. But they were helpful in their recommendations. Have a patio out on a shaded street, moderately quiet re: pedestrians but medium busy with cars.

We first stopped by here on our way to our AirBnb but had such a good time we came back for dinner later. The platter was fantastic, the staff are super nice and of course, the beers are absolutely top notch! 10/10 would recommend!

The food was excellent. We had Spaghetti Frutti di Mare, Pork upfront burger, Mediterranean seabass fillet, grilled chicken thighs, baked vegetables and roasted potatoes. The staff was nice.

Awesome food and 10/10 staff! We accidentally ordered a non-vegetarian dish instead of vegetarian, but the staff were extremely kind — they prepared a new dish for us and didn’t even charge for the first one. The location is also very nice. Highly recommended!

Prices are high for what you get - cold and completely dry burgers. Service was pretty much nonexistent and the server did not try to better the situation when we told him our burger is cold, dry and hard. Overall the worst dinner experience we had in Malta, McDonalds would be a better option.

Stopped here for lunch and a drink. We sat outside and had Greek salad and French fries. Service was friendly and the food was good. I thought it was good value for a very touristy location. Then we got gelato from across the street which was also delicious.

It is located in the centre of Valletta. When you pass its not visible but at the basement it has a beautiful space for dinner, American style. I ordered a cheeseburger. It comes with fried potatoes. It was tasty but not anything fancy. The staff extra friendly. I recommend.

The waiter was very pleasant and nice. The rabbit had stringshoe fries as a side which I didn’t know what those were but they are like little potato sticks, which I think is a wrong choice to serve with this kind of a dish, some roast potato would be a much better option as these were impossible to eat with a fork

After a busy day of tourist things walking around town it was a delightful break to stop and British inspired pub for a cold pint of Guinness and a burger to keep us going for the next few hours. Also, kudos to the music lineup, it was some pretty classic hits!

I came to eat yesterday for lunch, I found the meal really nice, the service was perfect and fast. The interior is magnificent and the terraces outside are sublime and blend into the decor of The city. Nothing to say about this restaurant.

We had delicious grilled fish with caponata, roasted crisp potatoes and a drizzle of basil oil. The restaurant manager was very helpful and worked around my salicylate intolerance.

This was a stunning experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive, but never too much- they created a friendly and cozy environment throughout the whole dinner. I loved the explanation of the dishes- very well detailed and clear. Wine was great and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. The food was incredible- such different flavours to what you expect and usually eat. I loved the combination of ingredients that I never thought could go together. This was an exquisite dining experience! Where shall I start? We were shown to our private room with a simple decor but elegant. The waiting staff was professional and courteous throughout the evening. We had the tasting menu which consists of 5 courses and many 'surprises' by Chef Victor. Each course is a unique display of artistry with an explosion of flavours. Each of the courses is not just served... The servers set up the table with props so that you can experience something truly original... Then you try the food and you're in heaven. The restaurant offers a great wine list and expert connoisseur to suggest best wine options. The experience lasts for roughly 4 hours however, the ambience is just perfect and time flies by. A wonderful experience indeed... Well done Chef Victor and all the Under Grain Team!

Best michelin star restaurant I have ever been to. The quality and taste of food, the presentation, the service, the timing - everything was just perfect and left me with awe. Even though I had only opted for the two course meal, I felt very full and satisfied by the end of my experience. The entire dinner lasted 3 hours, just like they said. If you decide to dine with Under Grain, allot for extra time, as they take care in enjoying the food and the presence of others. At the end of our dinner, we even got to say our thanks to the chef! I enjoyed just about everything that was served. The rabbit dish as well as the indoor picnic were quite delicious and memorable. We were first led to a lobby to wait before heading down. Be careful, there are two restaurants with similar names: Over Grain and Under Grain. We almost walked into the wrong restaurant! You must book ahead.

After spending €440 on a tasting menu for 2, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect first class, award winning, competition beating, blow your socks off food. IT WASN'T 😪!. After a polite welcome and being up sold some fizz, we then had to wait nearly an hour for the first "snacks" to arrive. The entire evening took 4.5hrs!! Way too long and way too slow. We were actually bored by the end and couldn't wait to get out of there. The food was ok at best. It lacked flair, flavour, and the presentation was no better than a gastro pub. The service, albeit polite and slick, was far from friendly and welcoming. It felt wooden and scripted. I would sadly not recommend this restaurant.

During our recent visit to Under Grain in Malta, we found the dining experience to be mostly very enjoyable, particularly with the quality of the food. The dishes were thoughtfully prepared and flavorful. However, we felt the overall quantity of food was a bit overwhelming—especially the main course featuring fish and the dessert. A slightly smaller portion, or reducing some of the additional surprise elements, might allow for a more balanced experience. The menu itself was somewhat confusing. Some courses came with extra explanations in the same font and color, but important details—such as the cheese course and caviar being charged as extras—were not clearly highlighted. This got a bit lost on us at first, especially since the waiter spoke at a very low volume and occasionally unclear, making it harder to clarify these points during service. Service-wise, the staff was attentive, but the frequent water refills felt a bit overbearing, as our glasses were continually topped up even when we weren’t drinking. It seemed a bit intrusive rather than thoughtful. Regarding the wine, we weren't particularly impressed with the pairing offered. For those who prefer not to take the full pairing, the team seemed to have limited suggestions for choosing wines by the glass. In summary, Under Grain offers good food with creative touches, but I recommend to pay close attention to the menu details, perhaps opt for selecting wines individually, and be aware that portions may be more generous than expected. It also says on their website that you cannot wear shorts, but this was not true since a few guests did. Should just remove this from the website.

Dinner at Under Grain was a perfect way to end my vacation in Malta. The food is great (try the langoustine three ways), they have really good local wines by the glass but what really blew me away was the level of service and attention to detail. Everyone from the servers to the sommelier were at the top of their game. While it’s not cheap, quite a lot of freebies are included in the set menu option like some amazing snacks, a great bread course with jamon iberico and a pre dessert. Overall, a must visit.

My dining experience at Under grain was beautiful! The food were incredibly delicious. The service was top notch. It truly deserves its Michelin star. I also absolutely adored the random little surprises from the chef. I could not have chosen a better place for dinner. Truly wonderful, would definitely visit again.

Service was very bad. Made eye contact with server(s) several times and was ignored. The minute I asked for my bill it arrived, though! No more crap service here! Disappointing. There are better places to grab a drink in the streets of Malta. Don’t go here.

Was looking for a place to eat in Valletta and found this gem amongst the saturated touristy places. Service staff were quick and efficient and looked after us and our baby on a hot day. They have fans set up to keep you cool as well… groovy music at good volume. Staff on shift were Annia and Boris really top service thank you.

Very disappointed with our €9 margarita, which was served half full. When we asked about it, the waiter said that was the serving. Definitely killed the vibe.

we were initially impressed by the quirky characters serving. after waiting an 45min for pickled anchovies, mozzarella and tomato, a similar but different dish arrived with no explanation. when we finally. caught the eye of the server and asked for more drinks, he told us no! really bizzare.

Met local friends here. The owner was so incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough to help. My wife and I had the cheese platter. Amazing. Our friends had the meat platter. They said the variety of meat was unusual for Malta and they loved it. We also had the tasting menu of wine (one Italian, one Malteste and two sparkling). Brilliant to have great quality wines at affordable prices. We will definitely make a return visit and our local friends said they would bring their other friends and family. We booked online in advance as they haven't got many tables.

We tried the Italian platter with apple and strawberry cider and local beer. Everything was really good. The platter ingredients were of the highest quality. The cider was very unique and tasty. I will definitely come back and recommend this place to others!

We were double charged for a bottle of wine on the night (mistakes happen), and a day later I messaged the bar on Instagram and pointed this out, and they immediately looked into it, resolved the issue and refunded me with no questions asked. Fantastic cheese and charcuterie restaurant, so many choices and such huge platters, and even better wine list. Great value for money! As vegetarians we had the cheese platter, choices were not as extensive as a good cheese counter I expected.

The owner told us it was the best platter in Malta which I was a bit skeptical at, at first having tried lots of amazing platters across Malta but I have to admit he was right! The platter was super fresh with all top ingredients and a great selection which they recommended and chose for us. The waitress who was super helpful recommended us a really nice wine and the owner kept coming over to make sure everything was good with us, which it was. 10/10 place and we will be back again for sure! Probably the best place for a charcuterie board in Valletta. A cosy little place that is larger than you'd expect on the inside, with a great selection of wines, meats and cheese. You can either construct your own board from their large selection, or you can allow the chef to surprise you instead with his choices. Either way, an unforgettable experience with a very comfortable and intimate atmosphere. Reservations are a must, this place fills up quickly and can get quite busy.

I went to this bar tonight to have a drink. A girl told me I could choose a song just by asking the bartender. So I politely went to him and asked if, after the song currently playing, he could play one I had in mind. His answer was simply: “No.” When I asked “Why?”, he replied in a really unpleasant way: “Because you only bought one drink. I only play songs for people who spend a lot of money.” Such a bad attitude. This kind of behavior only drives customers away. I doubt his manager would be happy to hear that kind of arrogant and selective treatment. It’s a shame — the place has potential, but it’s ruined by staff like that.

Whilst staying at 66 St Paul’s we visited this very inviting small wine bar- it’s around the corner literally from the hotel - small and intimate inside or casual seating outside and delicious wines and excellent “snacks which really are small haute cuisine surprises! So tasty, lovey fresh ingredients and impeccably prepared and presented . A “must” visit eatery for anyone visiting Valletta. A true find!

First time out after months. (New) Owner has no idea that a pandemia is still going on in the world. He welcomed us saying he must have caught the covid. No one seems to care either about using face masks or of minimum distance. I totally felt out of place and wanted to run away. Terrible wine selection. Pity cause the spot would be nice. Cherry on top: English woman telling me there’s no need to wear face mask.

My favorite meal in Malta. Beautiful food from the fantastic burrata and nectarine salad to the sardines. Can’t recommend highly enough and I’m very picky.

Small spot but has a ton of charm. The entire wall is covered in hand drawn portraits. Kenshiro from Fiat of the North Star makes an appearance. Cute outdoor seating area too in a quintessentially European little alley. The whole experience was very picturesque and the drinks were great too!

Great little bar - staff are excellent and cocktails amazing (good prices too) - outside seating but to be honest it was so hot a few nights it was nice to sit inside and cool off in the aircon. Food looked great especially for daytime or mornings but we didn’t get a chance to try unfortunately

This became our go-to during our stay in Sliema. Barely a stone's throw from the waterfront, this bar was primarily populated by locals and had an amazing range of drinks AND an arcade machine (which our son loved). Absolutely recommend Hole In The Wall...just don't spoil its authentic vibe.

I stumbled upon this place by chance. The service was better than a lot of places. When I said that I don't eat certain items from their set menu, they offered to add something that I eat which I found very accommodating. Would recommend anyone looking for a good meal in Valletta. This was such a great find. Not a swanky place, but a genuine Maltese experience. This is a Band Club, a social club formed around a brass band that’s a cornerstone to Maltese culture. You dine in their club bar sandwiched between pool tables and the local’s bar. The food is simple, tasty and unpretentious, but the atmosphere is welcoming, genuine and a refreshing reminder that not all of Valletta has succumbed to trendy wine bars. The dining area is in a stunning space, arcades, balconies and with grandiose architecture with a hint of Art Nouveau. It’s a sensational space to eat, surrounded by the trophies and historic plaques celebrating the clubs achievements. Food is reasonably priced with a focus on local dishes. I hope it never succumbs to the temptation to over-modernise. I thoroughly loved my experience.

This restaurant in Valletta is a true gem! The Maltese architecture is charming, providing an authentic and cozy atmosphere. The English café served is simply spectacular – fresh and with such a generous jug that you can enjoy several cups. The service also deserves praise, with a team that is always attentive and helpful. Although there's no air conditioning, they compensate with several fans, ensuring the place stays comfortable even on the hottest days. Additionally, the good music in the background creates an even more enjoyable atmosphere. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best restaurants in Malta. Highly recommend!

A fabulous local find. Ate here on the first night. Food was very good value for money. Bar staff exceptional. We arrived 45 minutes before the kitchen opened so decided to wait with drinks. The barman suddenly just rustled up some bruschetta with tomatoes, onions and olives on the house to keep us going until the kitchen opened. Returned again last night about 11pm as we heard 80s vibes. Lots of locals all dancing. Brilliant.

Nice location, but not recommended. Food is cheap, but also not so good-tasting. Meat was dry, fries were sloppy, and the salad was not that fresh. The wine tasted really good though. Better go there for a wine drink only. However, wine was served in spritz glass.

Perfect place to sit and relax during your busy sight seeing tour of Valetta. It gets quite lively at nights as well.

A great place to stop after a hard day of sightseeing. Nice mulled wine during the festive period, as well as a refreshing selection of San Pellegrino including the bitter pictured. Air conditioned, great on a hot day.

A Real Gem and must when in Valletta. Excellent Coffee and sandwiches. One of the wine and spirits list I've ever seen. Having lunch there was an absolute delight.
