Tahquitz Canyon is a stunning natural wonder in Palm Springs with ancient rock art, wildlife, and lush vegetation. It's a popular destination for hikers and picnickers who can enjoy the scenery, along with a visitor center that provides information about the area's history.
This is a perfect hike for individuals and families. We arrived at the trail around 9:00 am on a Saturday and were able to purchase our passes very quickly. The cost is $15 per adult. There is very little shaded area on the trail so be sure to come prepared with a hat and sunscreen especially on warmer Palm Sorings days. They also require each hiker to have a minimum of 32 oz of water with them on the trail. The trail has some moderately strenuous parts where you are climbing some stone steps but it’s easy to take little breaks throughout the trail if need be. The waterfall at the end is very pretty and refreshingly cold and shaded so a great spot to relax before the hike back. I saw lots of young kids and families enjoying the small swimming area near the waterfall. There is a bathroom at the visitor center and plenty of parking.

$15 per adult. Short hike, but it does come with some challenges. Restroom facilities are available at the visitor center, and you can fill your water bottle there, as well. In order to hike into the canyon, you must also show that you have a certain amount of water, which can change depending on the weather, temperature, etc. The waterfall is flowing really well right now (late February 2025). Popular hike and the parking lot fills quickly. Enjoy!

If you are visiting and exploring the area this is a great place. Easy for all ages and still very enjoyable with views. The staff was super friendly and pleasant. Nice easy hike for us vacationers!
Fran V — Google review
This is a really great hiking trail close to downtown Palm Springs. It’s a well developed and well maintained trail, but a little rocky and rough in places. It takes about 40 minutes to an hour to walk back to the falls. In the dry months (Winter months) there is very little water coming over the falls. Also, in the Summer months the heat can be stifling as the dark rock formations in the canyon absorb the heat. I would not recommend this hike on a really hot day, especially if you are not in great shape. Absolutely no dogs are allowed on the trail, and they require that you have at least 32 ounces of water with you. If you can join one of the free Ranger guided tours, I would recommend that. The tribal guides are a wealth of information. The views of the valley and the rugged scenery are beautiful, too! We were lucky and saw a few bighorn sheep on our hike, but I understand that they are a pretty rare sight. Definitely add this trail to your list.

Great hiking trail. Alejandrina made sure I had water and all the information needed to start my hike. The staff was great including the park ranger.
Gabe B — Google review
If you like nature, waterfalls, and desert scapes, this is for you! The trail is not hard, but there are 90 or so steps to walk up on the way to the falls. The views along the way are spectacular 🙌 There is a $15 entry fee, which is well worth it.
John R — Google review
Well recently I’ve lost some weight so I decided a two mile hike is something I should be able to handle. Pulled out my hiking boots, pulled out my water backpack and off we were. Wasn’t too bad,?had my heart a pumpin, but it was very doable. A nice refreshing swimming pool with some shade the help me cool down at the end of the waterfall. A bunch of people swimming, enjoying the cool refreshing water. The return trip to the parking lot was easy and mostly downhill. The parking was easy and big enough so we didn’t have to wait, they require everyone to take 32oz of water with them, and they do sell water if needed. They charge $15 each person, but it’s a fair investment. Restrooms in the office is helpful after a hike. Give it a shot, it’s worth it for an easy hike.
Fixitfast P — Google review
Quite nice and not too difficult. They have "free" parking but the trail costs $15 per person. Considering the trail is only about 1.5km's it's a bit expensive but we still really enjoyed our time here. You do get some nice views and the canyons geology was impressive.

S Lykken Trail I is a popular hiking spot in Palm Springs, offering a 2.8-mile moderate out-and-back journey with stunning natural scenery. The trail features rocky outcrops, boulders, and seasonal wildflowers, making it a favorite among fitness enthusiasts and nature lovers. Hikers can start at the end of Ramon Road and enjoy the steep switchbacks and breathtaking views along the way.
We truly enjoyed our vigorous hike here in late March, after a particularly rainy season. The gorgeous trail was busy with other friendly hikers and families making their way up. You must be able bodied to take this trail! Recommend holding on to little ones because during the narrow edges. Snow-capped mountains graced the background, flora were bright and happy, and we saw a cute family of mule deer. Take time to appreciate the fabulous views as you climb and allow your body the time to get used to sudden elevation.

Orlando Realtor here… Attending a Real Estate Conference in Palm Springs. Our group enjoyed an excursion hike on the S Lykken Trail. Nice trail, easy terrain, beautiful spring morning weather. We enjoyed the hike.

Beautiful morning hike, greenery against the brown rocks. Saw a big fat lizard.
Bryon H — Google review
This is the best hike in the area. If you start in downtown, walk to the north end on W Cielo and finish at the south end on Ramon and walk back to downtown, it’s 8 miles. The north end trailhead is hard to find; at the end of 1021 W Cielo’s driveway. The Ramon trailhead is obvious. Skyline starts at the museum parking lot and ends at the midpoint of Lykken by some picnic tables. Signage is not good. Go right at the tables to find your way to the north end, go straight at the tables to end up south. Climb is not that hard

Indian Canyons, located in the mountain foothills of Palm Springs, is a collection of canyons that hold great cultural and historical significance as the ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. Visitors can explore Tahquitz Canyon with its guided hikes to a 60-foot waterfall, Andreas Canyon featuring unique rock formations and lush plant life, and Murray Canyon where lucky hikers might spot endangered Peninsular Big Horn Sheep.
My favorite hike in Palm Springs, California is Indian Canyons, which offers numerous surprises. The park features multiple trails, but Palm Canyon stands out as a highlight. Walking through the lush palm forest feels like an oasis, providing ample opportunities to rest and take in breathtaking views. While some trails are quite long, others offer shorter alternatives, although the trail markings could be improved. The park is expansive, with ample parking and restroom facilities. If you're fortunate, you might even spot big horn sheep on the road, which is a delightful experience. Andreas Canyon is another notable feature, boasting stunning waterfalls and streams along the hike. Be prepared for long lines at the entrance, but they typically move quickly. Admission fees are $12 per person, not per vehicle. This destination is suitable for visitors of all ages.

Such a beautiful scenic area. Definitely worth driving there and to the different trails especially if you’re not a seasoned hiker (like us). The rangers were really helpful and recommended the Andreas Canyon and Palm Canyon to us. The Andreas Canyon was a totally achievable hike for two novices. Bring water and some flip flops if you want to wade your feet in water.
Katherine L — Google review
Andreas canyon trail was a great little hike. Says 1 mile round trip. Not too bad. Can be done some where between 20 and 30 minutes. February would definitely be a great time to visit high 60s to low 70s. May through September would need to bring some water. Not free costs $12 per person but worth it to see it.
Doug A — Google review
It is a beautiful, amazing place for a hike. You can choose a short or long trail. Lots of amazing palm trees. The Google map is extremely limited in this area, and even the map given at the entrance is incomplete (the river was not even shown!), so be aware and cautious.
Atieh A — Google review
This is my favorite canyon to walk in the area. There is a good stretch of canyon walk with palm trees then more hiking trail. The canyon is easy walking. The other hiking trails are more strenuous and out in the open - sun! Plan accordingly, bring a camera, water, snacks, sunscreen etc. There are places to sit and rest along the way both with benches and not.
Rob N — Google review
Chose to come to Indian Canyons on my last day of vacation, it was definitely the right decision. My wife and I loved the scenery getting to see the stream and palms. Definitely planning on coming back to explore more

Totally blown away! !!!!! 🌴🌴🌴😱😱😱😱 A beautiful and tranquil destination for nature lovers and adventurers. Indigo Canyons offers a serene escape into nature with its breathtaking landscapes and peaceful ambiance. Perfect for hiking, photography, or simply unwinding, the canyons are rich with vibrant colors and unique rock formations that create a truly mesmerizing setting. The trails are well-maintained, suitable for various skill levels, and provide a quiet retreat from city life. It’s a hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts.
Aitana B — Google review
The park features stunning palm trees and a serene oasis. There is a parking and entrance fee and discount for students. In summer, visitors should carry at least 3 liters of water. The park is open only from Friday to Sunday during the summer season.

Hiking Trails
Araby Trail is a 4-mile out-and-back trail that begins in a residential area but quickly transitions into a peaceful hike with stunning views as it enters the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. Along the way, hikers can catch glimpses of notable homes such as Bob Hope's unique flying saucer-shaped residence and Steve McQueen's midcentury modern home. The trail offers an elevation gain of 1,400 feet and showcases beautiful mountain terrain and wildflowers.
Great hike! About 7500 steps from trail head, to flat area above Hope house, and back to trail head. Roughly 3.69 miles give or take. I hike a lot so would say this is easy but my wife doesn’t and felt it was mildly challenging. I saw a wide variety of ability levels so definitely a hike for everyone. It is rocky and very little shade so want to be careful. Bring extra water! The view the entire hike is amazing and Hope house is very cool. We ate lunch up there before hiking back down. Parking is limited depending on when you go. I got lucky that someone was pulling out as I pulled in.
Anthony S — Google review
Some of the reviews call this an easy hike which is so misleading. My Apple Watch clocked my heart rate at 140+ often. It’s about Lots of switchbacks with great views to catch your breath. Bring water. The only reason it got a 4 star was minimal parking and shade . Great views of the valley and rich people’s houses. Cute house at top for photos I was really surprised how many people were out hiking with no water or hats. Even in milder temps we’re still in a desert.
Jan J — Google review
Beautiful 6K out and back with small loop at the top. About an hour up, rolling terrain, not too steep, well worn easy to follow trail. About 2 hrs altogether and we stopped for short breaks to rest and refuel. Not too crowded when we walked it from noon to 2pm. Scenic views into the hills and the famous Bob Hope house, amongst other elegant mid-century residences. Down the same path back to the small free parking lot. Not a highly technical trail but a little endurance helps for the first hour, tho by no means difficult or excessive. Recommend!
Martha H — Google review
Great first day hike! Loved passing by amazing architecture in the hills and hiking on up to 360° views. The peaks in the snow are stunning to see with sun shining on them. Will likely pass other hikers. Everyone is friendly and shared the paths well.
Connie P — Google review
Nice, wide trail with some fairly steep inclines to get the heart pumping! There are lots of lookouts to get views of Coachella Valley on one side and views of Mt San Jacinto, and sister peaks, on the other side. The trail is completely devoid of shade, so hiking it in the middle of the day could be quite hot. There’s ample parking at the trail head off Palm Hills Drive.
Atul P — Google review
Really enjoyable hike up to Bob Hope House, with sweeping views of the valley below. Recommend taking lots of sunscreen and water as there is no shade, if you're going in the summer it's definitely worth it going early to avoid the heat. If you're there in October, the Halloween decorations at the start of the trail are kinda random but quirky and fun.
Alexander B — Google review
Nice trail with some parking right off the main road. Good trail for kids - our 5 year old felt really accomplished and enjoyed exploring the rocky sides of the path. Great one to checkout especially if you are a bit time crunched since its easy to get to. There was also a fun easter egg patch near the beginning of the trail that was a fun surprise for the kids.

Hiking Trails
The Museum Trail in Palm Springs offers a convenient and scenic hiking experience near downtown. After exploring the Native and Western art at the Palm Springs Art Museum, hikers can venture up the San Jacinto Mountains with a spacious travel sling bag to carry essentials. Wolfson Park on Frank Sinatra Drive provides an opportunity to hear the iconic singer's recorded welcome speech before passing by his former estate, The Compound. The trail itself is relatively easy, taking less than 30 minutes at a casual pace with minimal obstacles.
C2C! Gotta give it a try, even if you aren't planning on going all the way to the top! Best route!
Brian K — Google review
Rugged trail up & down. Best to wear good hiking shoes, gloves, hat and sunscreen up! Water is a must and snack if you need fuel. Trail is dotted with white dots to keep you on track. Took hubs and I ~45 min to go .7mile up with elevation change from 400 to 1350. Down path is less strenuous but do it carefully. Great views from every angle! No dogs allowed.
Tracy F — Google review
Really enjoyed the views, great workout, we even came upon a group of big horn sheep! But as others have mentioned it’s not easy, or well groomed and I kept thinking we were at the top, but then another trail up would appear. Oh, and be careful not to enter the private property north of the trail, like we accidentally did when we took an alternate way down.
J L — Google review
This was my first time hiking this trail, it was relatively easy of a hike for the museum trail part. The museum trail was a very short hike. I was going at a casual pace and got to the end of this trail within less than 30 minutes. There are very little obstacles so it's not very challenging. It's a really beautiful scenic hike especially around this time of year. There's a ton of street parking and garage parking that's across the street from the museums parking. You start the trail in the back of the museums parking and it leads up to the end of the trail which is a bunch of picnic tables. The thing I like about this trail is if you are up for the challenge you can keep going and it will lead to multiple trails that will eventually go all the way to the tram and the ranger park station. But if you are not very experienced stop once you see the skyline ridge sign and turn around. After that point it's very slippery, narrow and more dangerous. If you do decide to go past skyline ridge then your last chance to really turn around is at rescue point one, unless you plan on doing the entire 12 hours hike which is even more dangerous. But again in regards to the museum trail, short easy and fun. My only complaint is that it's not a very well constructed trail and most of the signage is just a little white dot painted on a rock every now and then. With all of the tax revenue palm springs receives, it would really be nice if they put a little more effort into the trails. Other than that enjoy the easy trail, and if you are a pro then maybe try the challenge of doing the full route known as the cactus to clouds trail!
J G — Google review
Beautiful scenery the higher you go. Climb is not good for those with children. Harder the higher you go.
Kaylee L — Google review
Visiting this museum was both educational and emotional. The exhibits told powerful stories that connected the past to the present. I left with a deeper appreciation for the subject matter and a strong desire to learn more.
Rudeus G — Google review
It gives you a great view of downtown, Palm Springs. It's a bit rough for those with knee problems. But If one is looking for an outdoor cardio, the 0.8 miles of Museum Trail is the perfect spot. Get enough water and proper hiking shoes to be safe.
Mirwais O — Google review
Tough and steep trail from downtown which provide a comprehensive view on Palm Spring. Put good hiking shoes on, take water and snack. It is steep and you will feel it. Take your time coming down, it is straining on the knees.

The Cactus to Clouds Trailhead is a renowned hiking trail that offers one of the most challenging day hikes in the United States. It spans 21.2 miles and features a staggering 10,300-foot elevation change, making it suitable only for experienced and well-prepared hikers. The trail begins in the desert terrain near Palm Springs Art Museum and ascends to Mount San Jacinto, shrouded in clouds at an elevation gain of approximately 10,000 feet.
Went up to the top trying to find some mountain goats, didn’t see them up there so came back down, then saw them crossing the trail almost by the entrance of the trail! They’re so gorgeous! Seemed comfortable being around human as long as we keep the distance.
Channary V — Google review
Fantastic! This is a great trail with plenty of fantastic views whether you plan on a hike for a short while or an entire trek. Lots of rocks and gravel, and it’s rough on the knees, so be careful and come prepared. Bring water, and lots of it, because you’ll dry out quick!
Andrew — Google review
C2C2C – AN ULTRA TRAIL QUEST INTO THE SKY AND BACK San Jacinto Peak can be reached from many directions, but no route matches the raw, unfiltered intensity of climbing straight up from the desert floor and then back down. Cactus to Clouds to Cactus (C3) isn’t just a day trip—it's a full spectrum endurance challenge, one that few attempt and even fewer complete. After 10+ successful C2C2C completions across all seasons, I’ve developed a deep respect for this route. It will push you beyond your limits, but if you embrace the suffering, it will be a benchmark experience in your life. This isn’t a step-by-step guide—there are plenty of those. Whether you're climbing to the tram, to the peak, or all the way up and back down, this will be a small piece of the puzzle for you, and some valuable beta. If you have questions, feel free to reach out through my profile—I’m happy to share insights with fellow ultra adventurers. Trail & Route Clarifications: Museum Trail – The first steep climb from the Palm Springs Art Museum to the picnic tables. Skyline Trail – The relentless, exposed ascent from the picnic tables to the tram. San Jacinto Peak Trail – The final stretch beyond the tram, leading to the 10,834 ft. summit. Key Takeaway: These trails are all continuous segments of the same route Route Variations: Cactus to Clouds (C2C) – Desert floor to peak, ending at the tram (most opt to ride down). Cactus to Clouds to Cactus (C2C2C / C3 / “The Sphinx”) – The purest route, from desert floor to peak, then all the way back down. Key Takeaway: Many assume the climb is the challenge. It’s not. The 10,000 ft. descent on trashed legs—is the true test Seasonal Considerations: This route is challenging in any season, and I believe there are valuable lessons to be learned in each, but if you are looking for the path of least resistance, November - April is the sweet spot. - Spring (March-May) Uncivilized and overgrown trails if we've had a lot of rain down low and snow up high, which means you’ll be dealing with a lot more spiny plants. Rattlesnakes are very active this time of year fyi - Summer (June - September) If you haven’t acclimated to the heat, I wouldn't try it. Hydration is your main threat this time of year. Not so much on the way up when you’re still fresh, but more so on the way down when you are much more fatigued and dehydrated. - Fall (October - November) It’s still a little warm, but the conditions are mostly ideal. The vegetation is pretty cooked from the summer heat, so the trails are a bit more civilized and less over grown. You'll only be dealing with higher temperatures at the very beginning and very end of the trip. - Winter (December - February) By far my favorite time of year to go, especially if there is snow on the traverse. Heat or hydration is not a major concern in my opinion. Your main challenge will be route finding and getting through the snow on the traverse. If there is snow and you are making first tracks, micro spikes and trekking poles are highly recommended. The truth? If you’re researching this, you likely already have what it takes. Do the work. Condition your body and mind. Embrace discomfort. Weigh the risks, prepare intelligently, and go after it. One of the biggest concerns besides heat and hydration? Getting lost. The solution: Download the GPX track. Get a GPS watch. Use the Gaia app. Your phone and watch should have the track loaded. The white blazes help early on, but they disappear past the picnic tables. Navigation is your responsibility. But over time, you’ll learn the rhythm of the trail—the way it weaves in and out of the ridgeline, testing and rewarding you in equal measure. C2C2C is an ultra-trail odyssey, demanding absolute respect for the mountain, the desert, and your own limits. With 10,000+ feet of gain and loss, extreme weather shifts, and relentless terrain, it’s one of the most punishing single-day routes in the world. But if you’re ready—if you crave an adventure that will redefine what you believe is possible—this route will change you.
Alpine U — Google review
Parking at the trailhead was easy, not many people attempting this every day. Trail was tough especially miles 8-10. After that the trail to the peak was not difficult. Absolutely beautiful
Jeremy R — Google review
Fun trail with great views and if you really push you can end up on top of the mountain
Damon T — Google review
Amazing trail, make sure to bring a friend or two, and a decent bit of supplies for it, I would personally recommend going in the early morning, so that you can avoid the sun, or go during winter. It isn’t the best marked, so I’d recommend using another app for directions. Parking is a little tough, however if you go early, then you are able to park on the street near the museum and trailhead.
Austin P — Google review
The trail is a difficult trail to attempt. There is over 10,000 ft of gain in the 15+ miles to San Jacinto. The most difficult part is from the trail head to the Tram area. And you will want to start early in the morning because of the desert heat and there is no water along the trail until you get to the Rangers station.
Ryan H — Google review
Great way to start your morning! Steep and rugged, not recommended for kids. Lots of parking available nearby. Bring water and good grippy shoes. It gets hot fast, so go early. This trail forks off to either the North Lykken trailhead or up to the base of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Dogs not allowed on the trail. Awesome views of Palm Springs and if you are lucky, you’ll spot some Bighorn Sheep.

Murray Canyon Trail is a popular and challenging five-mile out-and-back hike located at Indian Canyons. The trail features the stunning Seven Sisters Waterfall, standing at 15 feet tall, making it one of the most scenic trails in the area. Hikers may encounter mule deer or bighorn sheep along the way. Expect to cross several streams, so waterproof hiking boots are recommended. The trail can get crowded, so starting early is advisable.
Wow! This is a different kind of hike. You won’t get to a peak with a grand vista, but the journey through the canyon with the variety of rock formations and palm groves was spectacular. There are also some nice views into the valley along the way. I classify this as an easy to moderate hike. There are a few technical parts for those that have balance issues (crossing water on rocks and climbing over some rock formations). There is a $12 fee per person to enter the reservation, but it was worth it.

Great trek through Palm oases to a waterfall. Trail crosses over small creeks a number of times. This can be a bit challenging if you don't have good footwear so be sure to bring trail shoes or hiking boots.
Jay P — Google review
Beautiful hike. Very long though. Water shoes are a must! So glad I brought mine! Start early, park opens at 8am. I will say there is horse poop everywhere because horses are allowed for some reason? So it stinks like poop & kinda ruins the hike.
Amber D — Google review
One of the most scenic trails I've ever been to. Highly recommended, expect to get your feet wet, as you will be crossing many different streams, some you would have to step in the water. I wore waterproof hiking boots and it was perfect. We hiked Murray trail and from the car the whole trip was 4,5 miles but it's mostly flat so pretty easy. I also recommend coming early, this trail is very popular so it gets kind of crowded. We started at 8:30 and on the way back there were tons of upcoming hikers. Loved the trail overall, will come back!

This place is magical! We ended up doing Murray Canyon Trail to seven sisters falls and then looped up another trail and back down towards the parking lot. It was a little over 3 miles round trip. It was mostly easy except for a small spot. Make sure to bring water to the canyons as there is no where to fill up. Wear water shoes too!
Amanda — Google review
Fantastic hike - AllTrails recommended for the two mile out and back. The adjacent Andreas Canyon trail head had porta potty bathrooms with a water station to wash afterwards, plus picnic tables. There is parking available at this trail head, too. The initial hike through the open scrub desert was less compelling but once you enter into the canyon proper - amazing and beautiful..! Only one section was remotely technical with some moderate caution to ascend and descent but there were some carved stone steps. Make sure you bring enough water..!

Definitely a must hike. I visited in mid January the weather was good. The Murray hike in Palm Springs is really beautiful. The hike is through oasis which is around total 4.5 miles. Should start early around 8-10 am. The entrance fee for Indian canyon is $9 per adult.
Vaishnavi Z — Google review
Beautiful canyon, a bit challenging hike, total 4 miles from the parking area, too bad they open the gates at 8am, today the temperature was 100 degrees, would be better to start the hike earlier, Be prepared for the 12.00 per person fee, Once at the trailhead there are picnic tables and clean restrooms, plenty of parking. The hike itself is really nice, takes you thru the desert Oasis, Make sure to bring plenty of water and food or snacks, lots of places to have a dip in the river, the water temperature was perfect. The end of the trail is the Seven Sisters Falls, not really big waterfalls, but this is expected as you are in the middle of the desert.

The Palm Springs Art Museum is a desert oasis for art enthusiasts, offering a diverse collection of European and Native American works. The museum's cool interior provides respite from the desert heat, with captivating exhibitions that range from Picasso retrospectives to architectural showcases. Visitors can enjoy free admission on select days, making it an accessible cultural experience. Nestled against the picturesque San Jacinto Mountains, the museum houses an ever-evolving display of modern and contemporary art by Western and Native American artists.
Nice sized museum for this city. It feels like they keep it well maintained. I enjoyed the various art exhibitions but the outside sculpture garden was my favorite part. Pretty contemporary but fun!

Fantastic museum! Three levels of completely different art from Native American to Modern! Sculpture to paintings! Also currently two very exciting exhibitions are on display. With 2 beautiful sculpture gardens that have been created that are stunningly peaceful and a place to sit and just take in their beauty! Outside too is the famous Aluminaire House..well worth a view! The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and make for a pleasant and comfortable visit.

Walking through the Palm Springs Art Museum feels like stepping into a dream woven from imagination, light, and meaning. Every turn invites you to pause, reflect, and feel something new. 1. The Tower of Plates – A tall spiral of soft yellow bowls, stacked with gentle motion like a dance paused mid-twirl. It feels playful and peaceful — like balancing the everyday with the infinite. 2. The Sitting Couple – So real, you almost say hello. But they’re sculptures — a tribute to quiet moments, rest, and togetherness. There’s something comforting in their calm. 3. The Painted Man and the World – A large figure with bright colors and a globe at his feet. It speaks of responsibility, hope, and the weight of being human. It feels like a reminder: the world is in our hands. 4. The Red Heart Seat – Bold, soft, and shaped like love. Whether it’s a chair, a sculpture, or both — it radiates joy. It’s the kind of piece that makes kids smile and artists stop to think. 5. The Upper Gallery View – Smooth floors, open light, and a graceful path around sculptures that feel like guardians of time. There’s space to breathe here. 6. The Starburst Chandelier – A sculpture above, reaching out like a frozen firework or cosmic flower. It brings energy to the ceiling, like light suspended mid-bloom. 7. Etched Faces in Grey – Delicate lines form quiet faces — as if the wall is remembering stories from another time. Subtle, thoughtful, and timeless. 8. The Glowing Core Artwork – A burst of color and light layered over blueprints and dreams. It feels like electricity made poetic — like the spirit of invention glowing from the inside out. 9. The Mountain Sculpture – Earthy, raw, and textured. Like a piece of nature brought indoors to tell its story. You don’t just look at it — you feel it. 10. The Seated Figure of Squares – Made of many blocks, yet whole and strong. Sitting with arms around knees — like someone thinking deeply. Peaceful. Present. Beautiful in its stillness. ⸻ Final Reflection: PSAM is a place for thinkers, feelers, and wanderers. It doesn’t shout. It invites. Whether you’re wide awake or walking between worlds, it welcomes your gaze with kindness and color. Update: “Originally gave 5 stars based on what I thought was a positive experience. But after being unexpectedly fired and realizing how fake the environment really was, I can no longer recommend this place. Disappointed and hurt by how things turned out.”

The Palm Springs Art Museum is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone in the area. Tucked beautifully against the San Jacinto Mountains, the museum's location alone is breathtaking, but the treasures inside are what truly make it a world-class institution. The collection is incredibly diverse and thoughtfully curated, offering a fantastic journey through modern and contemporary art, as well as significant Native American and Western American works. I was particularly impressed by the glass sculptures and the outdoor sculpture garden, which feels like a serene extension of the desert landscape itself. The building's architecture is a work of art in its own right, with its clean lines and open spaces perfectly complementing the pieces on display. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, allowing you to take your time and truly connect with the art. The staff is also exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the welcoming experience. Whether you're a seasoned art aficionado or just looking for a peaceful and inspiring way to spend an afternoon, the Palm Springs Art Museum exceeds all expectations. It's a five-star experience from start to finish.

Beautifully curated collection, with some very unique pieces. The sculpture garden is small but very well designed with beautiful sculptures of different media (blown glass, aluminum, metal). It was a perfect way to enjoy a couple of hours before hotel check-in.

I found out about the Palm springs art museum through TikTok and i seen on Thursdays they do free entrance i believe after 5pm so we took advantage of that and made the drive to take my daughter and son, it was such a cool experience my daughter loved it so much. after leaving the museum we noticed they had a night market on the main street so we checked that out as well and man were there many different food vendors it was hard to choose what you wanted to try, I think Thursdays in Palm Springs has to be the new thing we do at least once or twice a month 😊

Cahuilla Peak is a hidden gem for hiking enthusiasts in Palm Springs, starting just beyond a mobile home park. The Araby Trail offers an invigorating ascent that is mostly moderate, making it accessible for various skill levels. After about 1.7 miles, hikers can transition onto the Berns Trail, where the climb becomes more challenging but rewarding with stunning views along the way. Initially winding above residential areas and alongside Southridge Drive, this trail provides a unique blend of nature and urban scenery.
Good hike from the Garstin Trail. Took about an hour for us old folks. Great views. Connects to all the other trails via the Berns Trail.

Hiking Trails
The Frank Bogert Trailhead offers a pleasant hiking experience with stunning scenery. The trail features varying elevations, depending on the direction you choose to travel. Hiking poles are recommended for stability, as there are areas with loose gravel that can be slippery. It is important to note that there is no shade along the trail, so it is advisable to bring plenty of water. The trail itself consists of dirt and rock and provides various options for exploration at the 1.5-mile mark.
Love this hike for the views, plant life, and because it's a little difficult. Steep only in a few places, but I didn't get to do the entire hike..... my camera battery died. I look for nature hikes where I can take lots of photos. And I loved this trail for photos. At least the kind I enjoy taking. I went in March after a lot of rain, so there was a lot of green. A real treat on trails around here. This trail is mostly wide, so you can easily move aside for the bikers. And they do like this trail. It was not a busy trail at all, but it was a day with a little rain in the forecast so that may be the reason. Still, I doubt it gets crowded. Easy parking at the base. No bathrooms or picnic areas. Not a place I'd bring children. The trail has loose rocks in some areas, but not a major concern. Recommend walking sticks and plenty of water. No shaded areas. No dogs, please. Your fur baby won't get along well with the wild sheep.

Nice out and back trail that's dirt and rock. Street parking is easy right next to the start. 1.5 miles in, you have the option to go straight, left, or right. Right goes up with a stepper incline. Did around 4 miles in 1hr 45min with lots of picture taking and small breaks.

Awesome hike, great views, saw tarantula. Not crowded. Moderate challenge with ascent and descent but well marked trail. Wore running shoes. Wish I brought climbing poles.

I went to do a short hike to see if I could get some sunset photos. I didn't get to complete the whole trail due to my timing but did catch a great sunset. It is a great trail with beautiful scenery. I didn't pass anyone else on the trail. Plenty of street parking available.

This is one of our favorite hiking places in Palm Springs. It is moderately strenuous in some areas, but it's worth the Trek if you're up to a little physical exertion. Walking sticks are highly advisable for people over 50.
Ken — Google review
Nice trail. Great views! A lot of up and down hiking depending on your direction of travel. If you have hiking poles I recommend them. Quite a bit of loose gravel in places making some spots rather "slippery" and poles will help you through those areas. No shaded areas. Take plenty of water.
William J — Google review
What a winter we have enjoyed in the Southern California desert! Rough parking lot but beautiful views.
Michael B — Google review
Always a beautiful tucked away trail! It’s about a 6 mile loop. But I love it! The road leading up winds through a beautiful neighborhood! Just know if you are in a sedan it is paved to the base of the parking lot, then driving up there’s starting to get some decent side craters where front wheel drive cars will occasionally loose grip, just navigate between them and you are all good to go! The view at night is equally just as beautiful with a full sky of stars and the twinkling lights from the houses below it’s a great place for a scenic view as well!

Nestled in the charming village of Palm Springs, the Welwood Murray Memorial Library is a historical gem designed by John Porter Clark and completed in 1940. Visitors can enjoy a serene atmosphere perfect for studying or conducting research, with access to computers and Wi-Fi available for those needing digital connectivity.
We went in on a search for public bathrooms (they are across the street in an alley by H&M), but instead got really helpful tips and a map for our trip to Joshua Tree. We would have seen way fewer cool parts of the National Park without Paul’s help!
Kayla C — Google review
It's disappointing that California residents can't apply for a library card here at this location. Besides that, it's a great, peaceful atmosphere. i had a fascinating conversation with someone about the history of this specific location. Another bone to pick: the cost to print is ridiculously high, even for black and white. And to retrieve printed materials, a staff member has to bring them to you. Consider automated, private, self-service printing (at a reasonable 10¢ - 25¢).
Mathew S — Google review
Nice little library, but the front desk attendants are A+ A-holes. Rude and unhelpful. A couple came in asking for local information and they were very short with them. Then they asked me to leave after one hour. I was just sitting in a corner quietly working on my computer. They cited Covid restrictions. Mask mandates have been dropped so why does the library have a time limit to be in it? I’d go somewhere else if I were you.
Michael K — Google review
I visited the library with my mom and sister-in-law. We needed a quiet space to study and respond to emails. Unfortunately, it was not a welcoming environment. It was our first time here and we were instantly looked at up and down. Every question we asked was answered with sarcasm. As we were signing in, we were told to not talk loud (which is obvious, it's a library). The two older people at the reception desk must not like their job or just certain people. Another group of people walked in about 30 minutes later and they were greeted immediately and were even offered brochures. It was such a disappointment. P.S. there are hardly any books or tables with nearby outlets to charge devices. *it would be A LOT better if they were nice to EVERYONE

Located in downtown Palm Springs, the Hilton Palm Springs is a modern hotel offering stunning mountain views, a relaxing spa, and a refreshing pool. While not explicitly family-oriented, it still provides a laid-back atmosphere and an excellent location. The hotel welcomes pets and offers additional bedding options for children. With complimentary shuttle service from the airport, it's convenient for both family vacations and spring break getaways. Guests can choose from various guest rooms and luxury suites with modern designs.
This was my third time staying at this hotel, and it just keeps getting better. They clearly invest in upkeep and training their staff. Everything was clean and modern—my room even had a smart TV and a rainfall shower. I used the gym almost every morning, and it was never too crowded. The breakfast included gluten-free and vegetarian options, which is rare and appreciated. Another thing I loved was the quiet lounge area on the second floor, where I could read or have coffee without disturbance. Definitely my go-to hotel in the area.
Ammy — Google review
My first time staying at a Hilton and first impression wasn't good. Went with a group of 40 friends and the consensus was that all of the rooms had a musty smell and are dated with the exception of the bathrooms having been updated. However there appears to be mold on the bathroom vent and painted over previously but I could be wrong, just doesn't give a good appearance. The sheets, bed cover, and curtains all had stains. The shower drain immediately backed up and had to be cleared out by maintenance the first morning we were there. The very limited TV channels (14 or so channels?) kept losing service, no free music or movie options, everything has a cost to it (an old revenue generator that you don't often come across at other hotels these days). We had prepaid for breakfast but they failed to remind us and provide the tickets when we checked in at the front desk so we had forgotten breakfast was already paid for so missed the first morning breakfast. Good reminder to make sure you get your tickets. The service was nice and breakfast was excellent. The pool was a good size and in good shape. Good location though, just needs more attention from Hilton to bring it up to Hilton standards otherwise I'd assume it'll bring their brand down. Hoping this isn't a typical Hilton experience.

I stayed at this hotel for four nights while attending a conference. The location was practical, close to public transport and several restaurants. The room was basic but clean, with standard amenities like a small desk, a closet, and a TV. The bathroom had decent water pressure and was well maintained. The staff were polite but didn’t go out of their way to interact. Breakfast was included but fairly repetitive. Overall, a functional hotel that met my needs without any major positives or negatives.

Stayed here for a convention. It was very easy to go back and forth. The hotel rooms were clean, but the shower wouldn't quite switch from the showerhead to the tub. The water would run from both ends. Have to give a shout out to Paula! I left some jewelry behind, and she was super helpful to get it returned. Please give her a raise! Thank you Paula for being the hero!

Hotel Zoso is a luxurious and vibrant hotel located in Palm Springs. It offers elegantly furnished rooms with modern amenities, including flat-screen TVs, work desks, and private bathrooms. The hotel features an outdoor pool with cabanas, a hot tub, a fitness center, and spa treatments. With its desert-inspired rooms and private balconies offering mountain views, Hotel Zoso provides both luxury and comfort.
I stayed at hotel ZOSO August 9th, 2025. I was on the third floor, room 312. The front desk and room attendents were all very friendly and even called me to let me know when my room was ready. The room was nice. I could tell whoever prepared the room for me that day took pride in their work, (thank you). The bed was very nicely made and the sheets & blankets were clean. Room & bathroom felt clean. Air conditioning worked well. Pool party was super fun and Lester, all pool party staff, and bartenders were on point! STAY HYDRATED!

It’s an impressive party palace with loud music that my baby could hear from the room. I strongly recommend for 18+ only. Valet-only option was complimentary. My accessible room had a broken toilet upon arrival. The hotel staff quickly fixed all the issues I had with my room.
Maxine C — Google review
I came to this hotel for a conference, so I wasn’t expecting too much, but since it’s Palm Springs, maybe my expectations were a little high going in. The front desk staff was fair not overly friendly, but not rude either. The process was quick and straightforward, which I appreciated. My room was on the first floor, just around the corner from the lobby. At first, I thought it was unusual, but it did become a small issue at night when events or the bar could be heard pretty clearly. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting if you’re a light sleeper. The setup also made me a little uneasy about security. You can walk straight from the entrance to the first-floor rooms, and the elevators don’t require key access anyone can go to any level. I even ended up on a staff-only floor by accident after visiting the gym, which probably shouldn’t have been possible. The room itself was nice. We had a great mountain view, the AC worked well, and everything in the room functioned properly. The space felt comfortable. The patio was a bit odd—my light was tiny, and it seemed like someone could potentially jump across into the area if they wanted to, but since I was only there for one night, it didn’t bother me too much. The room came with a mini fridge (great for keeping leftovers fresh), but there was no microwave. The front desk did offer to heat food in the back office, which felt a little unusual, but at least it was an option. no complimentary breakfast. For Palm Springs, and given the hotel’s level, I expected at least something basic. Room service is available, but it’s pricey think avocado toast prices. Luckily, being downtown means you have plenty of food options within walking distance. If you’re just looking for a place to stay for the night, Hotel Zoso gets the job done. The rooms are clean, the location is central, and the views are great. But if you’re planning a vacation getaway and want amenities and value, there may be better options in Palm Springs. Not bad, not great somewhere in between.

I stopped in Palm Springs for work and found a good deal on Travelocity. I choose this hotel because of its location. My wife and I walked to the strip on 30 seconds and it was so convenient to able to go somewhere without driving. The hotel itself is clean and modern. It has a bar inside, a pool table, 24/7 gym, a coffee shop which opens at 6 am, pool and jacuzzi (when I was there jacuzzi was closed), a lot of places to sit and chill inside the hotel which is great if you want to get some work done or hang out with some people. The lobby is huge. It was great that the valet was free! I liked the overall atmosphere and vibe. It was nice to see modern design and furniture. They also have a nightclub and a banquet hall as well. Overall i like this place , I recommend it and I’d come back.
Michael C — Google review
We chose this hotel in Palm Springs based on the reviews. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t meet our expectations. The pool is surrounded by concrete and fencing, creating a closed-off, almost prison-like feeling — definitely not what you’d expect from a relaxing getaway. There’s barely any greenery, except for some fake palm trees that only add to the overall artificial vibe. The pool water was murky, swimming pool is tiny, and with the extreme heat, there was no cooling system — no misting or water sprays like you’d find at most restaurants or resorts. The so-called “party” runs from 12 PM to 5 PM — which is honestly laughable. The DJ stood under an inflatable octopus, which made the whole thing feel more like a kids’ birthday party than a poolside event. It looked like the owner had simply forgotten they’re running a hospitality business. That being said, the staff was friendly and always helpful, which we really appreciated. The room and the hotel overall were clean, and the location is great — close to everything in the city.
Вахид Н — Google review
Only thing I didn’t like about the hotel is how much concrete the pool area has. Little no landscape. The U shape towers and lobby structure surround the pool area and one side has a concrete awning that finishes the side facing the very popular club district. Palm Springs gets hot so the bright sun and heat gets trapped and reflects on all the concrete making for a bit If uncomfortable situation. Of course it is a great place to have huge party events. The hotel used to be the Hard Rock hotel

Hotel Zoso should be renamed Hotel Soso. First the positive... Location ***** The Hotel shuttle on time and clean, Driver very personable. The Beds were very comfortable. Rooms are kept clean. Not so positive... This Hotel is VERY tired and needs a facelift. Everything looks worn. Security doors which should be locked, broken. First room Air condition was not working. My wife and I stayed at the Kimpton Rowan over our anniversary weekend, we have an incredible time. I have to truly thank Ahmed at the font desk for making it such an amazing experience. He took notice that this was our anniversary trip and helped upgrade us to a larger suite. The room had fantastic views, a large bathtub, and a walk in shower. Ahmed also helped us coordinate a late check-out the day of our departure so we could enjoy more of our last morning staying there. He really had such an impact on our stay we can not thank him enough! The hotel itself is an oasis in the desert heat. They also surprised my friend with champagne for her birthday! All in all, would highly recommend. The location was perfect and within walking distance to restaurants and shops

Pet-Friendly Luxury Done Right! We couldn’t have been more delighted with our stay at the Kimpton Rowan during a recent Palm Springs staycation! From the very start, the service exceeded expectations. I had emailed ahead to confirm the pet policy (which seemed almost too good to be true), and Ahmed responded right away with a warm welcome, a complimentary room upgrade, and the reassurance that our IHG membership perks were linked to our stay. Even before we arrived, we knew we were in for a fabulous weekend. Upon check-in, Brian confirmed our upgraded room—complete with a balcony for our pup and a luxurious spa-style bath for us. The thoughtful pet amenities, including a palm tree squeaky toy that our puppy still adores, made the experience extra special. The room itself was immaculate and stylish, with fresh mid-century modern finishes, high ceilings, and an airy, spacious feel. The bathroom was truly spa-like, and the bed was so comfortable it felt like sleeping on a cloud. While we didn’t need housekeeping, every staff member we encountered was friendly and attentive. We carved out time to enjoy the rooftop pool, where the relaxed vibe, plentiful seating, and sweeping mountain views made it a highlight of our trip. Sipping cocktails from the High Bar only added to the magic—our server was fantastic, even if we regret not catching her name. The lobby struck a perfect balance of calm and energy, with a lively downtown buzz just outside the doors and plenty of thoughtful touches throughout the day. Valet and bell services were equally prompt and professional. As our stay came to an end, Ling helped us extend for a late checkout so we could savor one more brunch before hitting the road. She even updated our key cards proactively, saving us a trip back to the desk—a small gesture that spoke volumes about the care and efficiency of the team. A heartfelt thank you to Ahmed and the entire Kimpton Rowan staff for making this such a memorable getaway. We left feeling refreshed, welcomed, and already excited to plan our return!

We had the best, most comfortable stay while visiting Palm Springs for a NICU nursing conference! The rooms were amazing with the most comfortable beds and the best view! The rooftop pool and overall vibe was one we’ll never forget! Special shout out to the valet team for their kindness and being so helpful getting us to and from places! They were the crew that stood out the most specially Allen, Robert and Jessie!

The Kimpton Rowan exceeded every expectation. The property strikes a perfect balance between contemporary luxury and genuine hospitality. From the moment of arrival, the team was attentive, polished, and welcoming, creating an effortless check-in experience. The guest rooms are beautifully designed, immaculately maintained, and thoughtfully appointed for both comfort and productivity.Ahmed Rowan , Assistant Manager, was gracious and accommodating from my check in till I checked out . The rooftop pool and bar offer not only breathtaking views but also a refined atmosphere that sets this hotel apart. Dining experiences on-site were exceptional, with consistently high-quality cuisine and service that was both professional and personable. Every detail—from the overall ambiance to the level of service—reflects a commitment to excellence. The Kimpton Rowan is truly a standout destination, and I look forward to returning. Cio 🇸🇪

This place is my go-to whenever I'm in Palm Springs. You really can't beat the combination of clean, well maintained rooms with great views, the central location where anything you want is within walking distance, the excellent amenities (the roof top pool and bar are the best in town) and of course the staff. From valet to check out, the staff here is just nothing but smiles and aiming to exceed expectations. If I'm in Palm Springs, I'll only ever always stay here. Thank you Rowan!

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Unprofessional Staff and Poor Management I recently stayed at The Kimpton and had one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. I called the front desk from my room to ask a simple question about my car, which was parked by the valet. After several attempts, each call was picked up and immediately disconnected. When someone finally answered, the employee (named Ben) spoke in an agitated tone and hung up on me mid-conversation. Surprised, I went down to the lobby to clarify in person. When I politely mentioned that he might have hung up on me by accident, he responded aggressively — both in tone and body language — which was completely uncalled for. I then asked for the manager, Cesar Lopez, who showed no concern at all. Instead of addressing the situation or offering an apology, he kept repeating, “What’s the problem?” as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, the front desk employee became even more confrontational and visibly angry to the point that it felt threatening. The manager had to tell him multiple times to stop talking. My wife and I were both uncomfortable with how unprofessional and tense the interaction became. As someone who travels often for business and leisure, I’ve stayed at many hotels and have never experienced this kind of rude, aggressive behavior—especially from staff in a hospitality setting. It’s clear there’s a serious lack of professionalism and accountability at this property. I hope upper management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issue, because this level of customer service is completely unacceptable for a brand like Kimpton.

Consistently Great Customer Service: from check in, pool area, bartenders, restaurants, the atmosphere in general, quietness in rooms, VIP treatment to me and everyone. Valet attendants were great too with warm greetings. Thank you for the wonderful time.

Situated near the northern end of Palm Canyon Drive, it provides pet-friendly accommodations within walking distance of various restaurants. The hotel features an expansive grassy area and is just a short drive from Downtown Palm Springs. With 117 guestrooms equipped with modern amenities, including climate control and wireless internet, this hidden gem provides excellent service at great value.
I had a truly great experience at the Vagabond. The price is incredible, and the rooms are updated and also just plain adorable. The hot tub and pool is nice and they have a selection of needed items at the front desk. Couldn’t have asked for anything different. Thank you!

Stayed 2 nights while on a bicycle tour in the area. Very friendly staff and quick check-in. Rooms were clean, spacious and had all the usual amenities. The pool and hot tub were superb....... the pool was large and water temperature just right, and the hot tub was perfect after a long day of cycling. Both were sparkling clean. The rates were reasonable and I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

Location: great, close to downtown Palm Springs Parking: Free and close by Rooms: the old bones of the motel show, somewhat strange smell in room that would no go away, dated bathroom that could have been cleaned better, some broken furniture. Overall ok for a night or two for the price you pay. Pool: somewhat dated, pool was very warm (it was 45 degrees outside so that was likely the culprit), pool could have been skimmed, lots of families playing loud music
Katrin S — Google review
It's not bad if you get a good rate! The pool was deep which was good; rooms had neat/nice decor. Location pretty good, only location that would be better would be walking distance to the downtown IMO, but it's a quick drive. Only small issue was chairs in room were a bit old/stained up, but overall not bad place.
Cameron C — Google review
It is worth staying here just for the pool. 8ft deep end and the warmest pool I've ever been in. The rooms are fine and what you would expect from a motel. There is a fridge a microwave and coffee making facilities. There is a small drive to the main shops in Palm Springs. There are a few restaurants within walking distant of the motel but do book because some were fully booked. The views are amazing. There appeared to be a cafe next to the pool but didn't look like it had ever been open. Overall I would recommend this motel and hope to go back soon.
Chris M — Google review
The location is very close to downtown and the pool was clean and warm. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It doesn’t have all of the resort amenities but we would definitely stay here again when we are in Palm Springs. Lots of parking (for free) and quiet because it’s tucked up against the hill.

Surprisingly good. From my experience Vagabond branded motels are hit or miss. I’ve stayed at a lot in the Los Angeles area and some of them are as good as regular hotels and others are worse than old motor inns that haven’t been updated since the 70s. This one was actually good. We got an updated room and it was clean. Based on the reviews it’s hard to say if all the rooms are this nice. Ours was great. Price was phenomenal for the location.

I have been coming here on and off for the last 4 years. It a nice place. The rooms are very clean and nice. The pool and Jacuzzi are newly resurfaced and feels. great on the feet. Lol! I just stayed here 1/11/23 and enjoyed it so much , I'm coming back next month. I got a great rate for the week of the 4th in Feb. So I'll be back that Thursday. The pool is so warm it felt great to be in the pool in the morning with the sun shining 🌟

Embark on an exhilarating adventure at the North Lykken Trailhead in Palm Springs, offering a 3.6-mile hike with stunning views of Greater Palm Springs. While steep, the trail provides an escape into the untouched desert mountain scape and a respite from city noise. The well-maintained trail features switchbacks and moderate inclines, making it doable for average hikers.
Great trail going up the mountain fairly gradually. We started late and only got a little way up but still had a beautiful view of the city.
Ben D — Google review
Peaceful hike with beautiful city views We got the North Lykken Trail recommendation from the Palm Springs Visitor Center as we were looking for a moderate hike with good views, and it definitely delivered. The trail was peaceful and quiet—we were alone the whole time, which made the experience even more special. The scenery is beautiful, with a stunning view over Palm Springs once you get a bit higher. We didn’t complete the full trail but hiked for about an hour to a high point and back, which was perfect. A great option if you’re looking for a scenic and not-too-crowded hike near the city.
Halide E — Google review
Great hike! Not too long, less than an hour round trip, if you do the shorter hike like we did. Went during sunrise, loved the views!
Scott W — Google review
This trail has beautiful vistas of Palm Springs at every turn! Bring plenty of water and a hiking stick because it is a moderate to strenuous, desert hike. We saw birds, small lizards, and dragon flies.
Bethany S — Google review
Not a difficult trail with great views, remember your water and sunscreen
Andre H — Google review
This is a great trail with lots of beautiful big boulders. Go early in the day because it is very hot with the darker rocks which radiate heat. It creates its own microclimate. There is parking on the road by the trailhead and dogs are not allowed. Bring plenty of water it is a long one.
Nadine C — Google review
A really nice mid level hike that has great views of palm springs and some wildlife!! There are a lot of switch backs and some moderate inclines but it seems pretty doable for an average hiker. We did not do the loop as that was 10miles. We just did a down and back.
Gerrit S — Google review
The trail winds you up quickly as it positions you in a space, at some points completely, surrounded by the untouched desert mountain scape. It offers great views of the valley below but also an escape from the noise of the city. The trail was well maintained. If you have hiking poles you may be glad you brought them on the return trek back down. Parking was not an issue for us. It seemed like there could be ample street parking, not very far from the start, if the small designated street parking was full.

Tahquitz Creek Footbridge and Trail is a serene walking trail located in Tahquitz Canyon, just a few minutes south of downtown Palm Springs. The trail allows dogs and provides waste bags for pet owners. It features street parking, with paths on both sides of a little brook - one paved with benches, the other hard-packed dirt for dog walking. The area offers beautiful desert landscapes, chipmunks, roadrunners, and peaceful creek views.
Great walking trail. I see conflicting information so I wanted to clear this up. They do allow dogs to be walked. I saw several dogs over a few days, and they also have bags to pick up waste. Google maps will take you to one of the trail heads. There is street parking all around for free. You can walk on either side of the little brook. One side is paved and the other gravel. It is sandy, gravel and easy to navigate. There are no large inclines. The trail is not too busy in the morning. It is peaceful and you can hear the water as you walk along the trail. A small part of the trail was under construction when I posted this review. There’s still lots of trail to walk. I’m not sure exactly, but I would wager over a mile. The view of the mountains in the background is really magnificent. If you’re looking for a peaceful walk, this could be it. We were able to see rabbits, chipmunks, and squirrels.

Please note this trail is NOT open for dogs. Also the park ranger sitting outside the park at about 2:30 on April 5th was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I asked several times where we could walk with our dog and he suggested west under the windmills. When I asked again for trails on the East or south side of PS his response was, oh there’s all kinds of trails out there. When asked if he could be more specific he simply didn’t respond. SO unhelpful and such attitude for a supposed public service employee.

Yes, a little rustic and a bit uncomfortable. The crowd was suprisingly attractive. I left fulfilled with loads of happiness along with that good feeling you get when you give back to others. Just what I was looking for. I'll be back, often I would imagine. I'll give it 4 snaps and a twirl 🤌🤌🤌🤏🌀

Palm Desert Cross is a popular hiking destination featuring an illuminated cross situated atop a hill, offering stunning scenic views of the surrounding area. The trail leading to the cross, known as Cross Loop Trail or Cross Circle Trail, provides a moderate desert hike suitable for families and solo hikers alike. The cross is illuminated by a solar system and serves as a beacon visible from afar in the dark. Hikers can enjoy a refreshing and peaceful journey while respecting the natural landscape and wildlife along the way.
Great hike. The beginning has a very very steep start but once you’re past that it’s smooth hiking from there very exposed with NO shade at all so plan ahead and use good hiking judgement. Great views along the trail and at the top.

Hiking Trails
Nestled in the stunning Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, Art Smith Trailhead is a gem for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Just a short drive from Palm Desert, this trailhead offers an exhilarating escape into the Southern California desert landscape. As you embark on your hike, prepare to be captivated by breathtaking views that stretch across the Coachella Valley.
We visited this trailhead on on a day in January. The temperatures were cool, and we enjoyed our walk along the valley floor and then up along the side of the mountain. Much to our delight, a herd of over 20 bighorn sheep came down the mountain across the valley from us, walked across the valley and then headed up the hill very close to us. It was a thrilling encounter. This trail is very exposed with absolutely no shade. If it were a hot day it would be a brutal hike. The trail zigzags up the mountain to an overlook point and can be steep in places and is Rocky. I would exercise caution if you or anybody with unsure footing. The smartest of hikers along the path had hiking poles and that certainly would have made a big difference.
Martha L — Google review
The parking lot is not visible from California State Route 74. It’s been said it’s better to park just before the main entrance to avoid car break-ins. Out and back is 16 miles bring plenty of water

Simple hike just above town. Beautiful views. A large portion is closed seasonally for big horn sheep protection so I had to stay on one particular trail that goes across the edge of town.
Dave B — Google review
Great trail, big climb starting at Hwy 74, slightly technical single track, shade in early morning otherwise very exposed. Take plenty of water and a camera. Trail is rocky and a little slick and sandy. Go early for the best experience. Palm oases are amazing.
Patrick — Google review
This is a great trail. Very well marked and easy to follow. We did 4 miles out and back. Would have loved to follow it all the way and see the oasis, but time wasn’t on our side. Great scenery of Palm Springs and we had a gorgeous day.
Charene R — Google review
A very scenic trail that starts at the beginning of highway 74. It is very scenic the more you trek it. Not the easiest of the trails in the desert, however, one of the most beautiful ones, one that those that love hiking should take on! Make sure to take plenty of water with you as this is a long trail (~8 miles)
Nezam N — Google review
My favorite hike. Counted 16 big horns at one point hanging out snacking with us. Dead Indian canyon is just so fun once you get to the bouldering at the oasis. The wash was beautiful, but don't wear sandles as the sand and rocks will get stuck in your shoes. The big horns weren't scared of us either, we were about 5 feet from them. Be aware the trail closes Jan 1 to protect the big horns. Also, no dogs because they scare the big horns.
Nate S — Google review
Just off the street headed towards Vista Point. It's a great place for a walk by yourself or with a friend. It stretches out pretty far. It's about an hour loop around the trail It can be hot at day so make sure to bring plenty of water. The walk up the trail should be fairly easy for most

The Garstin Trailhead offers an invigorating hiking experience that is perfect for those looking to kick off the new year with a scenic adventure. On January 1st, 2024, I embarked on this trail and was pleasantly surprised by its narrow yet manageable path. Despite not being in peak physical condition at 55 years old, I found the hike to be quite accessible, allowing me to take my time and capture stunning photos along the way.
Love this hike. Did it for the first time on Jan 1st, 2024. Wanted to start the new year with a beautiful hike and this did not disappoint. Narrow steep path. I'm 55 and not in very good shape and it was not too difficult, but I took my time and lots of photos along the way. I had time restraints and I only hiked up 473 elevation, but can't wait to do the whole trail. I will definitely return to use this path for training. Loved the quick elevation in a short period. I can imagine experienced runners using it, but there are a lot of loose rocks. Can't imagine it's good for biking. Plenty of cactus and beautiful rocks to enjoy. Path was not busy on New Years Day, but I can imagine it is probably a favorite for people. Parking is available only in the residential area. No shade. Walking sticks would be a good idea. If you have knee issues, you'd be better off on another trail. Dogs are not allowed due to the wild sheep, which I was not fortunate enough to see. Definitely returning!!!

Did the Garstin, Berns, Bogert Loop. A nice set of trails on this hike with the Great Outdoors Palm Springs group. First 45 mins, I would consider as moderate otherwise an easy hike. Beautiful views of the valley, even looking down on one of Bob Hope’s house. Love the trails in this area.

The Earl Henderson Trail is a picturesque 2.9-mile route nestled in the stunning landscapes of Palm Springs, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a quick yet rewarding outdoor experience. This trail is perfect for nature walks, hikes, and horseback riding, offering breathtaking desert views that are especially captivating during sunrise. While dogs aren't permitted on this path, you'll often encounter fellow hikers and equestrians enjoying the well-trodden terrain.
My friends and I love this trail. During summer, we’ve been catching some of the most beautiful sunrises. It’s not too hot and by no means cold at all. We hike up and loop down to the wash where we finish off our hike with a nice run to our cars. Total time there and back is about 2 hours.. that includes us hanging out up top to enjoy the moment. Highly recommend.
Stephanie E — Google review
Henderson Trail is a great morning hike if you're looking for something reasonably quick, not too difficult, and with pretty desert views. We saw a few people out (one trail runner, one single senior with hiking poles, and a group of 5 in the distance) on a January Wednesday morning between 8-9:30 am. No dogs are allowed on this trail. This trail is open for horseback riders and there are road apples along the way that show it's well used. Pay attention to where you step, but you'll need to do that anyway because the trail is sandy and rocky. I suggest to wear hiking shoes or something with lugged soles, or bring poles, if you're worried about stability. Many reviewers said that Google sent them to a locked gate at the entrance to a private property and it did for us too. (This seemed to be because the trail goes past that property, which provides the only road in.) We looked up the hike on our All Trails app and discovered that there's a parking lot on South Araby Road across from the trailhead. (We confirmed that's the place to park with a local who was out walking his dog.) The parking lot is small and unpaved, so watch for the sign that says when not to park there (10 pm - 5 am). It's a bit counterintuitive.
