Specialty Museums
Gwangju National Museum, established in 1978, aims to advance cultural development and preserve historically significant artifacts from the Gwangju and Jeollanam-do regions. With over 130,000 objects, it offers educational activities and serves as a cultural destination for tourists and residents. The museum's architecture resembles a traditional palace and houses artifacts from South Jeolla Province, including prehistoric items dating back 66,000 years.
Worth visiting if you’re into Buddhist art or ceramics. A fair bit of history about the surrounding area and historical power struggles. Also some information on prehistory of the area. The museum is small and definitely has a more academic/teaching feel than entertaining, so probably better for older visitors. Free entry. Nice park like grounds to walk around.
Daryl S — Google review
Beautiful place, learning about history of Gwangju and Korea. Helpful staff. Cheerful kindergarten and maybe high school attendance...
Mohammad M — Google review
A well documented museum showcasing historical findings of jeolla region during three kingdom period.

Great way to spend a couple of hours. The burial pods are neat. It is free to enter.
Doctor M — Google review
This museum is free and have a lot of good pieces of art. Most of it is ceramic work, some historic pieces and some strange things. You can visit in one hour and combine with other museum like the beautiful museum of art of the folk museum (didnt do it).
Francois F — Google review
At the Gwangju National Museum, you can see beautiful Bronze Age artifacts from Korea. Including the bell with 8-thumbs, it is enough to enjoy the essence of the Korean Peninsula's Bronze Age culture. The Gwangju National Museum is directly accessible from the highway IC, so it has excellent accessibility and free admission. Exhibits are arranged systematically and according to historical flow, so you can see the history of the Korean Peninsula at a glance.
Ernest K — Google review
Unfortunately when I visit there, they only open for the 2nd floor. So, not much to see. But, still you can see old paintings from some famous historical korean painters. And the park is also clean and nice.
Papip Y — Google review
Gwangju National Museum was established in the late 1970's. The museum consists of many historical artifacts and artworks regarding buddhism and earthenware from sinan, Goryeo, silla, Bajae and Jaseon dynasties. The museum was developed to promote the prehistoric culture in Korea. Pets are not allowed at this place. There is no entry fee for this museum. And parking facility is also free. The museum closes on government holidays.

Gwangju Family Land, also known as Uchi Park, is a popular amusement park located in the Buk-Gu district of Gwangju. Spanning 290 acres, this family-friendly destination offers a variety of attractions suitable for younger children and families. Visitors can enjoy classic amusement park rides such as the Ferris wheel, carousels, and a swinging Viking ship. For thrill-seekers, there's a rollercoaster with two inversions.
We love this place to visit 😊 ❤️ and we are going every year for my kids
Vasundhara D — Google review
Family Land is the biggest outdoor and amusement park in Gwangju. During weekends is crowded and there is a lot of waiting time for attractions. The Zoo is better than it was but there is much place for improvement especially when it comes to animals habitats. Some of them are living in horbile cages or on a only cement environment. I was quite disappointed.
Melline G — Google review
Basic facilities. Good for kids under 14. Not too crowded even on s Saturday. It can be boring for kids over 14. Nothing for Adult travellers. Good for young families. There is a zoo. Can spend a whole day. Good vibes.
Shiyanga R — Google review
Decent place for a family, but not a perfect spot for a little kid. I wish the entrance fee was a little cheaper as they don’t really have any rides. There are about 3-4 rides you can ride with younger kids (less than 36 months old).
Brian C — Google review

Chikita E — Google review
Took the kids to Family Land last week and visited the zoo as well. The amusement park was fun for the kids and they enjoyed it, thus the 2 stars. The wait was minimal since we went on a weekday. The zoo on the other hand needs to be shut down. The animal's living conditions are horrendous and they live in the tiniest enclosures. I saw one small enclosure with way too many birds in it. The elephants have no room to run and seemed stressed. The white fox walked toward us very slowly like something was wrong with him and his fur was dirty, matted, and missing in spots. We saw a meercat that couldn't put any weight on one of it's front legs. I can't remember the name of the animals next to the meercats, but one of those animals was dragging it's hind legs. I left that zoo feeling so sad for the animals living there. DO BETTER OR SEND THEM SOMEWHERE THEY WILL BE CARED FOR!
Sharon K — Google review
Decent rides, but the park as a whole is a bit old. Some of the rides were closed for repairs and a few actually had to stop while we were there. It's not bad, but the adjacent Zoo is definitely better. It's shaded and is great little park with a decent zoo.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
1913 Songjeong Station Market, situated across from Gwangju Songjeong Station, has undergone a revival in recent years. The historic market street was given a retro makeover and now features trendy indie stores, eateries offering tempura, ramen, and rice cakes, as well as long-established businesses selling groceries. The market boasts an eclectic mix of cafes, pop-up stores, and specialty food shops alongside traditional vendors.
Such a nice area to have a stroll and have some local food, snacks or drinks! It really had the old-fashioned vibe which I personally loved 🩷😊
Karolina P — Google review
Hate to see the market kind of dead...not sure whether it is due to political turmoil or just out of date??? Nothing to see or street foods.
Danny K — Google review
A historic old market street with old shops selling food. Some converted to more modern cafes, while others retain their old fashion charm. Worth a visit to soak in the atmosphere and pick on some street snacks. Street parking and parking lot available nearby.
Mihwa L — Google review
They're trying their best. Some good stores and street food. The brewery was a nice surprise and really the only place besides the German restaurant that was attracting crowds.
Chris D — Google review
It's really pretty and maybe it was more lively pre-covid times but there wasn't much to do there when I went. I did enjoy the photo booth but that's all there was.
Fatema A — Google review
Interesting place. Many things to see and eat around this area
Melline G — Google review
I visited during the day and most of all the shops were closed. I think the place comes to life at night time. It's a nice place to stroll through, especially if you need to kill some time before catching your next train.
Jason C — Google review
It was a little difficult to find, but once we did, it was awesome! Go as it's getting dark and the street comes alive with a trendy yet old-school, retro feel. It's a great place to dress in old-fashioned school uniforms or take some black and white photos. Lots of yummy places to stop and eat street food as well. It's a blast!

Lovely exhibits and very informative. Definitely worth stopping by when touring Gwangju.
Oded R — Google review
Located in the heart of old Gwangju downtown, and directly behind the Old Provincial Office, very important landmark and historical site. Easy access using subway or bus, ample parking space and spacious area for exhibitions, performances and events. We recently went to a exhibition featuring South East Asia. Exhibits are displayed beautifully with abundant information, although not all in English. The library was exceptionally well put, looks like an airport if you ask me! The children section has a playground but unfortunately only for small kids (before elementary school age) and works through reservation system. There is a restaurant but sorry to say the price is ridiculously expensive. Bring your own lunch and eat at the designated area or eat outside and come back. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. You can make use of the guide tour to visit the important area. All in all very nice place to visit.
Karina P — Google review
ACC is a huge complex. It organises every event from International to National. Every weekends it organizes small to big events depends upon occassion. Every 6 month it organizes International food and cultural events. This place is very beautiful and peaceful. Its very near to down town area. The 5.18 memorial museum is located near to this place. This place also include a small rose garden where you can spent peaceful time.

Military cemetery
May 18th National Cemetery stands as a poignant tribute to the victims of the May 18th Democratic Uprising in South Korea. This significant memorial commemorates the pivotal event in South Korean history, which saw pro-democracy demonstrations met with a harsh military crackdown, resulting in numerous casualties. The uprising, which took place in 1980, is considered a defining moment that led to the birth of democracy in South Korea.
One must visit here if she/he wants to know Korea truly.
Nayeon K — Google review
A good place. Calm and clean, remote from the urban crowd. Parking place is large. All facilities available.
Dipak K — Google review
An absolute "must see" if you visit. Please be warned that he story of Gwanju's uprising is harrowing, yet hugely significant. The heart of the townspeople during the whole event is something that the community are very proud of. We were very lucky that upon arrival here we were greeted by a free guide who had lived through the uprising and gave us a personal account of his and his friend's and family's experience. He walked us through the park and showed us the graves of the known and unknown victims, the monuments and their significance, and guided us through the exhibition hall.

Dongmyeong-dong Café Street is a charming area filled with a variety of trendy and cozy cafes, offering a welcoming atmosphere for coffee enthusiasts and those looking for a relaxing spot to unwind. Each café has its own unique style, ranging from modern to rustic, and offers specialty coffees, aromatic teas, and delicious desserts. Originally home to the well-to-do, the area later became filled with educational institutions before evolving into a hub for cafes.
There are lots of dinner restaurants and cafes near the cafe street; with a surprisingly large amount of Japanese food (not complaining tho) These were the restaurants and cafes that we tried and we really loved them! I Each of the photos has their name, but… 1. Cafe popular: they sell cupcakes and lots of other treats! It’s on the second floor and has a nice wooden vibe. 2. Born to be burger: an American diner themed restaurant that sells lots of kinds of burgers, shakes, sides, and even pancakes! 3. Butter book: this one is a franchise, but the building is yellow and iconic and the donuts and gelato are delicious. 4. Cheongju: a self serve fish cake buffet with other items like dumplings and izakaya snacks 5. Yook Gapseochi: a beef and salmon sashimi restaurant with lots of different combinations like pasta, with rice, soups, etc. 6. Doyu: a skewers izakaya with other available main dishes that are yummy! This is a fun place in the middle of the artsy downtown area! You gotta check it out~

Located near the Gwangju National Museum in Jungoe Park, the Gwangju Museum of Art is a prominent cultural institution. The museum's main building was established in 2007 and houses a diverse permanent exhibition featuring Korean and international art forms such as painting, calligraphy, illustration, photography, decorative art, and new media. Temporary exhibitions showcase works by renowned international artists like Joseph Beuys and local artists often explore Gwangju's complex political history.
Walking into the museum felt like stepping into another world. Each painting told a story, each sculpture whispered history. My favorite part was the [specific gallery or exhibit], where colors and emotions danced together. The calm music and soft lights made the experience even more magical. I left feeling inspired to create something of my own.

5·18 Memorial Park, also known as 5.18 (O-il-pal Gi-nyeom-gongwon), is a significant historical landmark in Gwangju, South Korea, commemorating the 1980 Gwangju Uprising. The park features sculptures and memorials that honor the spirit of those who fought for freedom during the pro-democracy movement. Visitors can stroll through the park and reflect on the city's resilience and the courage of its people.
I was walking on the trails here in this magnificent, somewhat small urban park when it occurred to me that I hope a park like this is in my future when I can't travel like I do anymore. There were other older people circling the park on the well maintained trails, stopping at outdoor exercise equipment, chatting with each other, and maybe even going to the beautiful Mugagsa Temple on it's edge for some prayer and meditation like I did. Yeah, when I get closer to the age of most of the people I saw here are, I really want to be here with them.

I recommend you to watch "A Taxi Driver (2017)" before coming to this place to have better feel about the tragedy that occurred. Even though this place is not a big part of the story, a lot of things can be found that related to the story of the Gwangju Uprising. The place was so clean and quiet.

Not that much to see apart from the biggest monument, but it's still a cozy park with lots of locals. Tip: if you go in the morning, you might bump into a whole group of elderly people doing fitness on the top of the hill.

A compact sized park in the Sangmu region of Gwangju. Good for workouts: there is a small area with different kinds of gym equipment. Daein Market, once the heart of Gwangju's community, faced a decline with the emergence of large shopping marts. However, it experienced a revival during the Gwangju Biennale in 2008 when empty stores were transformed into art galleries. Today, it spans six districts and offers a mix of traditional market goods alongside art studios, gift shops, and food stores.
Daein Market is Korean style old traditional market where you will get traditional foods and kimchi also special fish ,testy pork and beef .Also resently this market started lots of art and culture activity , musice gigs and public art project . Many walls have large paintings

A covered market with fish and food stalls. It's a regular market during the day. From May the July and September to November, the night art market runs from 7pm to 11pm on Saturdays. You can pick up art and homemade desserts or get your portrait drawn. They have a small gallery for local and foreign artists (Hanpyeong Gallery) and there are often performances and live music. Vegetable jeon(pancakes), fried whole crabs, clams, beef sushi, kimbab and more!
Lisa C — Google review
There is no night market on Saturdays, nor any art market. I don’t know why there is such false tourism information on the official tourism platform.
Kejing T — Google review
This place looks like it's frozen in time, has the 90's feel and you can tell it hasn't changed much. Not as much options as the Yangdong Market and it does feel bit dirty. It's a great to walk around and get a feel how things were like in Korea before 2000 hit. However, if you had to decide between Daein or Yangdong market to explore, I would recommend Yangdong.

Daein market is a nice place to visit once. I don't know if I would go more than once hahaha. Some stuff they had were seafood stalls, some stir fried stuff, and tarot card readers (which I wanted to try but wasn't confident in my Korean abilities). Thare are a lot of stalls so it's a nice place to eat while walking but since it's an outdoor market, I wouldn't go when the weather is cold.

Standing at this place, I wonder if the people fighting for democracy where fighting for a political system as it is today in Korea. How little is explained about the uprising on this place, I also wonder how important this actually is for people living on Gwangju today. It wasn't for the host I was staying at.

A few galleries to look at. Not a particularly attractive or welcoming street. Certainly not “like Insadong in Seoul” as the tourist map claims. Lower your expectations, and the street may meet them.

Ascend the stunning Mudeungsan mountain via the Mudeungsan Monorail for an exhilarating experience. You can opt to hike or take a ski lift to reach the monorail starting point, with the hike taking around 1.5 to 2 hours. The unique feature of this monorail makes it a great choice for families, as it is one of Korea's few that circles the mountaintop, offering breathtaking views and a refreshing experience.
Round-trip lift and monorail costs 17,000 won. The facilities are a bit old, but the cost performance is good and the panoramic view of whole Gwangju city can be seen at a glance. It was worth it. There weren't many people, so I took the lift right away, but the monorail seems departs when it's full.
Kye A — Google review
Wow, thank goodness I didn't shit my pants. Did not expect it's going to be that scary up on the top of the mountains, windy and extremely cold weather. Lifts and the monorails were questionably old. 500% glad that I'm still alive. Am I going to do this again? Maybe yes for the scenery and better weather not in freezing cold season. Also, wait for the owner to refurbish all the equipments. But good luck to all shades of adventurous. It was somewhat fabulous.

(Translated by Google) This attraction is not barrier-free and requires a short walk up a slope from the lift to the monorail. There are stairs all the way from the monorail to the octagonal pavilion. I heard that the train is prone to stop running due to weather, so I asked 13:30 before setting off to see if it was running at the moment. In Korea, you can use the app to call a taxi without having to worry about being ripped off. It is also very convenient in places where public transportation is inconvenient, and you don’t have to worry about not being able to get a taxi on your return trip. There are many kinds of tickets. To reach the highest octagonal pavilion, you need to buy a package ticket. The place to buy tickets is at the convenience store counter in the building on the left facing the hotel. There is a toilet on the 1st floor, so please use it first and then go to the 2nd floor before departure. Please keep the ticket safe, as you will check it again on your return trip. It was a holiday, but there were not many tourists in the morning. It was not until we were going down the mountain towards noon that the number of tourists gradually increased. When we took the monorail, the weather was very good that day, and there were no other tourists (=chartered car), so the whole experience was very comfortable. When we got off the train, the uncle told us in Korean that we would be back in 10 minutes. We walked along the way and it really took us 10 minutes to get back to the train. The uncle even asked us in Korean, “It’s boring here, isn’t it?” ! This is what the locals say about this attraction. 😆 In terms of the scenery, it’s really not particularly amazing, but what’s special is the two modes of transportation we took. I think you can only see them in amusement parks in Taiwan, right? But if you are afraid of heights, you might want to consider this! !

Gwangju-KIA Champions Field is the home stadium of the Kia Tigers, with a seating capacity of over 22,000. It's easily accessible via bus stops and offers a well-structured environment with food vendors and stores selling various items. The stadium provides an enjoyable experience for both baseball enthusiasts and those simply looking to have a good time. Visitors can also enjoy the surrounding landscape and nearby restaurants while cheering on the players.
Lots of bus stops around so it was easy to access (plan that to leave the buses will be quite full). We arrived 1h in advance, bought our tickets at the ticket office, the staff was very kind and we could communicate a bit in english. There are lots of food vendors proposing sets in front of the stadium, you can either buy it there and enter with it or buy inside (i put pictures of some of the prices inside). The CU inside have more inventory than the ones in the outside ring of the stadium. The merch shop has lots of offer. Clean toilets of course, lots of trash bins with people helping to sort out. Large seats (some are not covered so be careful of the sun and rain) but most of all was the atmosphere! The fans were so great and cheering a lot, we loved the experience and would come back again!

Jeonil Building 245 is a significant landmark in Gwangju, known for its association with the democratization movement in Korea. The building houses a memorial hall on the 10th floor that vividly depicts the events of May 18, 1980, when locals protested against the martial law government. Visitors can gain insight into the dark significance of the number 245 and learn about the struggle for Korean democracy during that period.
Excellent, informative and passionate English-speaking guide showed us around and illuminated many of the exhibits. Very well-produced re-enactment and powerful photojournalism on display. There are 245 bulletholes are all visible and confronting.

Very interesting museum spread over two floors at the top of what was the tallest building in Gwangju in May 1981. A place where numerous civilians were massacred by a military suppression of citizens’ right to protest and call for democracy. There are numerous bullet holes inside the building. The diorama on display is a thought-provoking demonstration of the events taking place at that time. We were shown into the museum by a guide (he had been a university student in Gwangju at the time) with excellent English. We highly recommend this museum.

I was there to watch the SBS super concert, and I think it's a great venue to watch a concert. The toilet was provided well and many stalls so you don't have to worry about that. Although, the entrances/exits was not big enough, so expect a slow-bottlenecked exit after the show. However, I'm pretty impressed with the seating arrangement, even you get the side tribune, you'll get a good view of the stage!
Triza M — Google review
I've been there on Super Concert. So, what can I say about this stadium? Advantages: Wide toilets A lot of sits, screens Really big screens in case you can't see the stage Very vivid. The way it suddenly changes colours of stage is beautiful, no doubt! Space between sits is enough so that you will not be packed Only sits! So after the concert your legs will not shaken because of hours of staying There is snacks (ramen) and water that sells around stairs Disadvantages: Amount of toilets for men and it's location. There is only 1 man's toilets and 5 women's, and it is located at the beginning of the stadium, so it takes a while to get there Height of chairs. It means that there might be a problem that it will hard for you to see in case there's a person in front of you

Came here for SBS concert. Overall the stadium was good. For people who will come in the future, I have recommendations: 1. bring a wet tissue to wipe a seat coz ur seat would not be clean because of sand. 2. ladies would line up at a rest room. Refrain from drinking too much and go to a rest room in advance.

What a nice surprise it is to find Mugagsa. Started my walk around 5-11 Memorial Park at this beautiful temple. I entered and listened to a monk chanting a little, lit four joss sticks for the departed and meditated a little longer, and then soaked in the early autumn beauty of both the temple and park grounds. Please come now before it's gone.

Fantastic for fitness and lovely for a stroll. This park had a few routes you could take. Some had hills and some were flat. Some routes were off-road and others on wide, well maintained, paths. It's about 1.3km around the park, so it's suitable for pretty much anyone - young or old, runner or walker. There are also a few fitness stations around the park where you can grab a quick workout. The trees are nice and there's a lovely café / art gallery too. The reason I didn't give it 5* is because there isn't a big lake, like you might expect from a 5* park. Still, it's great if you want somewhere scenic to run, away from the traffic and on wide paths.

Located in the centre of the city, the spacious Culture & Art centre is a gem of Gwangju. Unfortunately all the entire theaters and halls are under major renovation(craze of rich Koreans to change furniture every now and then and also take advantage of covid scenario, when public avoids gatherings). But still the complex is showing gallery of colored beautiful paintings and Avery catchy reminiscent of old Gwangju in black and white photographs. (Translated by Google) Eodeungsan Mountain is a famous mountain in the western part of Gwangju, located overlooking Mudeungsan Mountain. There is a story about Eodeungsan Mountain, which means the mountain where fish ascended to the sky, that has been handed down since ancient times. It is said that Park Jung-yoon, who lives in Baksan Village, west of Eodeungsan Mountain, built a pavilion and raised a carp. One day, a carp appeared in a dream and said, 'I need to become a dragon, but the pond is too narrow to ascend to heaven, so if you widen it, I will not forget your favor.' It is said that Park Jung-yoon expanded the pond. After a while, there was thunder and rain poured down, causing the carp to turn into a dragon and climb up, so it was called Eodeungsan Mountain. The setting sun on Eodeungsan Mountain was famous as one of the Eight Scenic Views of Gwangsan, and because of the ridges and deep valleys, it was widely known as the place where our volunteer soldiers were active during the late Joseon Dynasty.

Penguin Village, located in Gwangju, has become a popular attraction for locals and tourists due to its abundance of penguin murals adorning the buildings. This small neighborhood offers a break from the historical sites in the area and provides plenty of Instagram-worthy photo opportunities. Despite its size, visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the village, admiring the quirky art and unique references to media such as 'The Little Prince' and 'Little Red Riding Hood.'
Don't be underwhelmed, this place is actually incredible. First it is a product of a neighborhood coming together and creating a place that brings the community together. There are stores where you can buy art, crafts trinkets, souvenirs, etc. tons of penguin artwork on the walls and with standard, old, appliances like coffee makers. It has a donut and juice shop with amazing penguin-shaped donuts. They also on the weekend we were there, had dancing, both modern and traditional, musical performances, and the best part, an arts and crafts time where you can create some of the things the vendors there sell at their business. With our American family's trip to Seoul and Gwangju this was at the top of their favorite experience.

They are cute decorated with penguins and the retro items. I came here at around 5.30 pm in a weekday and no any other people at all. That's really quiet. Not much to do, just walk around and perceiving a cuteness.

Great place to pass by but definitely not a destination. Not much to see nor do here. We stopped by since it was on the way and that was just good enough. Spent about 10minutes and saw everything.

대박~ awesome place for 📸 photos and food. Great area to come in the winter. I think you can spend a good 2-4 hours here if you like to chill in a less crowded place especially during this period (corona/covid). Remember to wear the mask!

Very cute area to walk around. Restaurants and cafes nearby and check the creator shops. Of course, the J-hope mural is a must see for any ARMY 💜

Accidentally came here but turned out cute! Suitable for kids, but also couple-friendly. They have a lot of exhibition areas and show a lot of recycled art ♻️

Nothing special. Village not well maintained, alot of murals are fading off, felt like a dead town.

History Museums
Nestled in the heart of Gwangju, the Gwangju Folk Museum has been a vibrant celebration of southwest Korean culture since its establishment in 1987. This captivating museum offers visitors an immersive experience into the traditional lifestyles and customs of the Jeolla region. With exhibits showcasing authentic reconstructions of traditional houses, clothing, tools, and ceremonies, guests can truly feel as if they've traveled back in time to witness Korea's rich folk heritage.
The building needs some update as it does not have a lift to go upstairs. They provide wheelchairs and prams for your convenience. I used a pram provided with my ID card submittion. Please do not forget to take your ID back when you return. They also provide a locker to put your stuff in when inserting 100 won coin which is returnable. I love hospitality from staff. It was good enough to show my daughter about Korean folk tradition.

OK museum but very few English signs. The museum is free and worth a quick visit if in the park as there are a few interesting displays. However, it is not worth going out of your way to come here unless you know Korean.

An excellent museum with life-like models and the authorities allow taking photos of the artefacts. Very few tourist places with English (bilingual) boards and also a detailed illustrated booklet about the artefacts. The staff is very courteous though nine can speak a word of English . The best part is that the entry is free.

The exhibits feature quite a bit of Korean history, but are a bit heavy on mannequin dioramas. It is free, and the park around the museum offers an interesting stroll.

The park features an extended walking platform that connects to the trail from the Gwangju dam, offering a 5-6 km route for about one and a half hours of walking. It's an ideal spot for families to enjoy the beauty of the lake and its surroundings, with well-organized parking available.

Best place to visit. I visited during March beginning. I wish I could visit when trees are green. Important: If you are not going by your own vehicle it could be difficult to coming back from their as you can use popular taxi calling app to call taxi from their. However you can use bus. Bus will be there at 40-70 min intervals.
Shibnath S — Google review
Great place for enjoying nature and taking long walks. The walking 'bridge-like' platform has been extended, and now it meets the trail that comes from the Gwangju dam. The entire length is around 5-6 km and in can be done in one and a half hour.

This lake is quite beautiful place, even in winter, some spots are quite nice. Unfortunately it is quite far, and only 2 busses that come to this area. So it gonna takes some times for you to come here by public transportation

The eco park is stunning. We arrived a little late though so we couldn't take a lot of pictures while it was still light.

Museums
The Uijae Museum of Korean Art is a charming, compact museum showcasing an impressive collection of artwork spanning the last two centuries. Situated near the western entrance of the national park, this small museum boasts a unique meta modern design that sets it apart. Visitors can explore a variety of art forms including paintings and calligraphy, with an entry fee of 2000w for the special exhibition matching 2023. Additionally, there is a delightful tea house on-site where visitors can relax and unwind.

This museum is small but incredibly beautiful. It is very much worth stopping by and the 2000KRW entry fee. Gorgeous local area to explore and it was one of the highlights of my trip.

Nice small museum with art from the last 200 years. There is a discount for groups (at least 20 people, the staff csn be a bit stupid and suggest 17 people to buy the more expensive single tickets even if it was cheaper if you would pay for 3 non existent persons). Worth a short stop on the way up though. It took just 45 min inside for us

(Translated by Google) Accessibility is not good. Since the art museum is located past the entrance to the hiking trail, I wonder if it is national, provincial, municipal, or privately owned. The fact that the museum itself charges an admission fee seems fitting for Mudeungsan National Park, where admission is free.

(Translated by Google) My girlfriend, who loves tea and has recently become obsessed with Korean tea, and I were traveling to South Jeolla Province when we stopped by the Uijae Art Museum in Gwangju. Admission included a tea set, so I ordered one. It was even better when it included spring rolls. However, the hike from the parking lot to the museum entrance was a long(?) climb up a mountain path, and visiting during a heatwave warning made it even more challenging. It would have been nice if we could at least drive to the museum, but other than that, everything was great.

(Translated by Google) It's a charming, quiet space. I enjoyed the exhibition. However, I didn't get to see much of Mr. Uijae's work. The guests were a bit noisy, making it difficult to fully appreciate the exhibition. I'll definitely visit again.

A place that makes you feel a bit embarrassed. It was my first time there, so I just assumed it was a regular art museum like the ones I’m used to. But this bald woman told me to leave, saying it was a business. Maybe she noticed I was just there out of curiosity, because she went ahead and closed the door to the exhibition room where the paintings were. Did I do something that wrong? It’s hard to make sense of the place based on what I’d normally expect. Right, she did say it’s a business—not an art museum.
