Borobudur Temple is a renowned 9th-century Buddhist monument located in the Kedu Valley, Central Java. It is considered the largest Buddhist temple globally and was built during the reign of the Syailendra Dynasty. The main stupa is constructed in three tiers around a natural hill, featuring a pyramidal base with five square terraces, a cone-shaped trunk with circular platforms, and a monumental stupa at the top.
Borobudur Temple is an absolutely incredible place to visit, brimming with historical and architectural grandeur. Situated gracefully on the lush plains of Central Java, this UNESCO World Heritage site impresses with its stupendously ornate stone reliefs, tiered structure, and serene ambiance. Each level of the monument—representing the journey from the earthly realm to enlightenment—is rich with symbolic carvings that tell timeless stories and invite quiet reflection. To enhance the quality of your experience, especially given the tropical climate, I highly recommend visiting during the cooler hours—early morning offers a gentle light that beautifully illuminates the carved figures and misty surroundings, while late afternoon can bathe the stone in warm golden hues, making it ideal for photography and contemplation. Avoid the midday heat to ensure your comfort and to fully appreciate the temple’s intricate artistry. The site is exceptionally well organized, starting from the parking areas to the internal visitor facilities. The parking area is spacious, clearly marked, and efficiently managed, easing the transition from arrival to exploration. Inside, you’ll find clean restrooms, ample seating spots, informative signage, and helpful staff to guide you. There are also shaded areas and small cafés or kiosks nearby, allowing for comfortable breaks during your visit. In summary, Borobudur Temple is a must‑see cultural jewel—architecturally majestic, spiritually resonant, and thoughtfully maintained. Just plan your visit during the cooler parts of the day to get the most out of this unforgettable site. Whether you’re a history buff, photographer, or spiritual seeker, Borobudur offers a profoundly memorable journey that transcends mere sightseeing.

A really awesome experience. The infrastructure around the temple is pretty top notch, roomy clean, modern. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The temple itself is simply awesome. A bit like Angkor Wat, but obviously not the same. As of September 2025 you can climb the structure all the way to the top. Not too crowded, but there are lots of tourists, obviously.
Bobby C — Google review
Borobudur Temple is absolutely breathtaking — truly one of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve visited in Indonesia. The scale, detail, and history behind this temple are just incredible. Walking up through the different terraces as the sun rises, surrounded by mist and the sound of birds, is something that feels almost spiritual. Every level reveals new carvings and stories, and the view from the top is unforgettable. That said, the guided tour could have been better. Our guide was kind and enthusiastic, but unfortunately very difficult to follow — his explanations were rushed and not very clear, so most of the group ended up wandering off and exploring on our own. It’s a shame, because with a bit more structure and clear storytelling, the tour could have really brought the temple’s history to life. Even so, Borobudur is a must-visit. Whether or not you get a great guide, the atmosphere and beauty of the site more than make up for it. If you visit, I’d recommend either reading a bit about the temple’s background beforehand or using an audio guide, so you can better appreciate what you’re seeing. A truly remarkable place — just wish the guided experience matched the magic of the monument itself. 🌅
Karim — Google review
This is a must see. Purchase your tickets online closing the convenient time.slot as well as the option of going to the top. You will be assigned for a tour guide inside the temple and he will explain all the story about it giving as well some details from what u see. It is really worth visiting knowing All the history and to see all nice views and also for nice photos. Electric cars are punctual and on on time to get you from entrance to the temple entrance. There is as well a big souvenirs shops market at that area. Highly recommended but during the day it can be very hot and sunny so bring an umbrella and/or hat and sunscreen. And prepare yourself to be given a slipper and put your shoes in a bag (they take care of everything at entrance and it is included in the climbing ticket).
Assala J — Google review
Good to be back to history — such an iconic place that always feels timeless. The area is well-organized and clean. To reach the temple, you can choose between taking a paid buggy ride or the free electric shuttle — both eco-friendly options, which is great. The only downside is the way out — it feels a bit like a maze since you have to walk through a long souvenir market before exiting. Still, it’s worth the visit for the beauty and serenity of Borobudur itself. ✨

Borobudur Temple was on my bucket list. And I made to visit it. Some pros: - absolutely amazing art and experience (of course not comparable to Angkor Wat- lets say nothing can beat AW) - tickets for 15:30 actually are for sunset, and this is best time to enjoy the sun extracting colors from the temple. - we bought tickets for Temple Structure, which allows to climb to the top, and include buggy ride. Are 40k IDR more expensive - ticket includes shoes (kind of bamboo flip flops), and bottle of water CONS: - overpriced! 455k IDR (25$) because you’re foreigner (75k IDR for local) - a lot of hustle and bustle around for taxi, souvenirs etc - guide was enough - EXIT is a NIGHTMARE, as you need to get thorough maze of really pushy sellers, which makes me panic to get out of there! Outside- another group pushing for taxi, some souvenirs. Please respect our „NO thank you” boundaries, as we- foreigners- are respecting your prices, places and culture. Whatever good impressions I had, they got lost with going through exit. TIPS: 1. Only Structure Tickets, buy online in advance 2. Preferably entrance at 15:30 3. Take extra water with you 4. Keep calm and move on through maze of shops to get to the desired exit.
Ula H — Google review
Highly recommend to visit here. Everything is included with 455k entrance fee. Water, slippers to Protect the temple and a guide is included. They schedule by group per hour. Organized and helpful guides. You can also asked the guards for pictures they know how to take it.

Borobudur has its amazing history. This is my second visit. This latest visit. I found that the park management has imposed two different access ticket to access until the candi. Previously was only one fares for all. The management told in verbal that they want to RESTRICT number of visitors. I'm my personal opinion is better to close it from public. The management make the tourist walk to shop with all paths from the entrance path. The management has offered half way free shuttle and when come back, the management ask visitors to walk more. So charged for buggy serives

Sacred & Religious Sites
Gua Maria Sendangsono is a Catholic cave shrine and holy spring located in a religious complex featuring a large Virgin Mary statue. The site is known for its stunning architecture and religious significance, drawing visitors seeking serenity, meditation, and self-reflection. It offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle of daily life, with vendors contributing to its maintenance. While access may be challenging for some due to the mountainous terrain and numerous stairs, it remains a silent sanctuary for prayer and peace.
Gua Maria Sendangsono is a truly special place that has profoundly impacted my life. As a person of faith who prefers a more personal spiritual journey, I was drawn to this serene location without any prior intention. Since then, I've returned often to experience its unique energy and connection to the divine. I've even brought friends who were initially skeptical about spiritual matters, and they too were touched by the peaceful atmosphere and felt a sense of tranquility. They've returned multiple times seeking solace and renewal. I encourage everyone to visit this sacred place, whether you're looking for a quiet moment of reflection or a more profound spiritual experience. Simply walking the grounds or praying in your own way can open your heart and mind to the unknown. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to those who care for this beautiful place. May God bless you all.

Visiting this place twice had been a healing experience every single time and I love that my mind, body, and soul are at ease. For everyone who wants to go to this place using motorcycle, please choose the car’s route and the destination is: Pintu Utama Sendangsono (not Gua Maria Sendangsono). You’ll be given 2 or 3 routes options, I suggest you take the route from the down north.
Big G — Google review
The place is spacious and cool, perfect for praying, meditating, or just finding peace and quiet. The atmosphere is very calm and peaceful. There are many small food stalls around. The road access is actually good and there are many signs to guide you, even if there’s no signal. But be careful, there are many uphills and downhills, and the road is a bit narrow for two cars to pass. It’s also a bit winding with some small potholes. But once you arrive, it’s all worth it. A great place for spiritual trips or just to relax from the busy city life.

Pilgrims site, a place to find serenity, to refresh the soul, to meditation and self reflection. Came with all burden, distraction, and life problems to pray and hand it to creators of life. Far away from crowded, life frenzied, such a quiet place to refresh our soul and mind. Beauty and harmony can be seen from the architecture form, all came with great imagination to shape every inch, compotition and structure. Just relief and fresh everytime visiting this place. Every corner representing the art itself, touching and seeing it more like the source of fountain of life. Peoples from many background, domestic and international tourist, use to came for pray and attend the mass or just to admire it. Some to take a part for rituals the Passion of the Christ, visitors also providing with free Holy Water in plastic bottle to take away but consider the place need source to maintain its operation and preserve so it will be respectful if peoples might be spend some coin at collection box near it. Many facility are available, gazebos, toilets, restaurant, inn, souvenirs shop, local stall, grocery store, snack, ect. But mostly of restos in this place selling pork dish with loxal taste. Parking area also very large, located near the enterance gate. People also can park near the 2nd gate wich is the Quiet Zone before entering inner site but only for motorcycle not for car. All the way to 2nd gate there's locals offering their merchendise like neckles, rosary, statue, holy waters, bracelet, ect. Road to the location was wort to try, it start with good and wide road condition and end with tight careless roads that only fit for 1 car. Beware for downhill and uphill, curved path and weather condition. Not too many sign board to location, especially at rainy day the terrain condition need more attention to pass. It looks untouched by the goverment or for else reason. But don't worry for the locals was friendly and willing to help for troubles on the way. This place free to enter no need ticket or else.

Peaceful place to pray, one of top destination if goes to Jogja. Must visit place, nature feels so close and quite calm.

This place is one of amazement, religion, and awe. The architecture alone is reason to come. The religious aspect makes this place even more cherished. A symbol of unity through diversity. I spwnt so much time here enjoying the fellowship of others. The power of prayer is ever present in this place. There are a lot of vendors heading up to the Goa, but they are all very respectful. Proceeds from sales helps to maintain this beautiful gem. The staff is tolerant to all faiths.

typical of sacred place of worshiping - Catholic Rome Church. access is a bit difficult from the main road, you have to take a small or local car because the access road goes up and down the mountain. very beautiful place, but not suitable for bringing old people, too many stairs to go up and down. Hopefully easy access will be built in the coming year.

Tumpeng Menoreh is a newly opened restaurant in Yogyakarta, perched on a peak with tiered outdoor decks that offer breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys. The restaurant, designed in a hexagonal shape mirroring the traditional tumpeng, provides a peaceful escape from the city. While it can get crowded during sunrise hours, the stunning view makes it worth visiting.
Great spot for sunrise to see surrounding Magelang, Purworejo area. Easy access to go to here. There are restaurants and coffee shop to buy your snacks and drinks while you're there. Very recommended location if you are in Jogja and Magelang Purworejo area.

Tumpeng menoreh is located in nglinggo , samigaluh kulon progo. This place is brand new area , because before that this location well known as tea plantation . To reached this place is so challanging , the main road is narrow and uphill. Need to prepare your motorbike or car on good condition. We need to focus during the trip. We met area which just clear from landslide material too. The road look likes slippery . We need to pay the ticket entrance , and there are some option . We paid the basic ones . We just walk and follow the instruction. We can see the view from the top of tumpeng menoreh , we can enjoy and take photos . The ticket is include Rp. 15.000 voucher to reduce the price food or drink if you willing to buy it. The area was good and has many spot to take picture, the toilet is clean and they are provide the praying room too.
Chandra K — Google review
I was asked to join a friend to this place. I was expecting some hiking, adventure, and nature. The road to this place is a short adventure, a small road going up the hill. At the entry gate, I was not surprised to pay for the ticket, but the amount shocked me 50.000,- per person. Ok, no problem and we continued to the parking. All was organized well, after parking we started well-made stairs and came to a well-made (helicopter) platform. There is even a kind of lift. My shoes didn't touch any soil. The place is all made for selfies, something I do not enjoy at all. But hey... that's just me! There is a view on some rooms on the other hill. On the otherside some more hills, nothing special and a lot of green, which I like. Except the harvesting of rocks and sand. In my opinion this afternoon was a big disappointment. There is bakso to eat, just normal. And there is a warung with some more traditional food, which tasted good!! Also the special teas are good. But I, as a nature lover, did not like this selfie spot at all. Waste of my money as I know many other places, with 10x cheaper tickets and 20x more nature to enjoy. Maybe my mistake, by not checking out the place before I went there. I can't give much more than 3 stars, as the food was good but the whole experience was for me a disappointment. Maybe the sunrise is better?
Gijs S — Google review
Very beautiful yet hidden place in North Jogja, only 1 hour from downtown. This place is owned by Erix Soekamti by empowering local residents. Provides a variety of foods cooked directly by local mothers. The entrance ticket price is IDR 50K, with IDR 25K being the retribution fee and IDR 25K being the meal voucher which can be exchanged at the kiosk. To get here, make sure the vehicle is in good condition, because the road you take is quite steep. My advice is to come here in the morning so you can see the scenery of hills and mountains around Jogja. Or you can go in the afternoon to enjoy the sunset on the hill.
Fajar A — Google review
Breathtaking mountains view with fresh and clean air. The restaurant is located in Magelang, yet very closed to the border of Kulonprogo and Purworejo. It takes around 40-60 minutes from Borobudur & Yogyakarta depends on one way traffic uphill approaching the restaurants. Driving SUV or MPV with high ground clearance is strongly recommended. Self service Javanese food with additional coffee and bakso/meat balls on another corner. Food is good but not really great. Entry fee IDR 50,000 including redeemable food voucher of IDR 25,000. The toilet is clean but probably need more units. Praying room is available as well.
Hadi S — Google review
#Toiletreview1020 I want to focus on reviewing the toilets in Tumpeng Menoreh. I will give a score 9/10 for the toilets, because it is really well maintained and clean. The water also great and the utilities are super helpful. I believe the tourism place like this should be expensive, because with good money the can manage the place to the next level. Whether you like it or not, the kind of concept they bring with 50k entry ticket is super worth it. You can have a meal, scenery, beverage, and of course clean and nice toilet
Hadit F — Google review
The entrance fee is 50k but with 25k voucher food. The place is really beautiful in the dawn till morning. My recommendation is to come before 7am but for sunrise get here about 5am (in bad time it can be super cloudy and u wont get sunrise). For the food for Yogyakarta standard is a bit high.
Bryan R — Google review
Great view from above, but i am not recomend to go there if you come with elder people (a lot of stairs for them, it have gondola lift but only at the very top of it) They have plan to build from below (thats what i hear from the staff), but for now you must take stairs. Food is not quite special and a bit pricey, maybe because it hard to get the ingredient to the top (one of the reason I am not giving 5 stars) Ticket is quite expensive if no promo. 50k /person for just for enter the "Tumpeng menoreh" and another 100k/person to go to "Tumpeng Ayu", for me its super expensive for only enter that place, last time I go there with promo 1 ticket for all (50k) but spend quite more on the food. (Another reason I am not giving 5 stars) The road to go there is quite extreme (not recomend for new driver) many uphill with small road. its a quite difficult when we facing others car from other direction and for go back almost all downhill, I must stop my car as my break is burning. (And another reason I am not giving 5 stars) So is it worth it? Well if you really love a great view from above either it sunrise or sunset is a good place to be, you can even stay there to wait the sunrise or sunset. If you driving your own car make sure you already have good experince especially on uphill and downhill road (I suggest SUV and MPV car). As I mention the food is quite pricey you might can bring some snack or food with you. Overall its good for 1 time experience

Kebun Teh Nglinggo is a strategically located tea plantation on a hill, offering breathtaking views and the opportunity to learn about proper tea leaf picking. The facilities are comprehensive, including a prayer room, restrooms, parking area, food and beverage stalls, accommodations, and resting places. In the morning, thick mist envelops the plantation due to its location and temperature but dissipates later to reveal vast tea fields.
Gorgeous location with a short walk through the tea plants and an opportunity to grab a cup of the local tea. The drive itself offers plenty of stunning views. You will need cash for the tickets and a driver to get there.
Jessica S — Google review
I visited here since I have a task from my lecture to analyse these places. I never knew that Yogyakarta has a tea plantation with a great view and panorama. You might see some mountains on every side. the ticket costs 15K with free tea fresh from here. The taste of the tea is quite different because you can taste bitterness at the end but still good.

One of the best option to enjoy tea garden and maybe the only tea garden in Yogyakarta area? If you want to come here with car or motorcycle, please make sure that your vehicles in a prime condition, check the gas, the brake, the horn, because you will drive through very difficult road, even when the weather is raining the situation get worse because the road is slippery. But after you get there, you will find really good view (when the sky is clear, bcs sometimes it's cloudy up there). You can take a picture with the tea trees background or just enjoy some fresh air.

A different tourist attraction among others, and no others in JOGJA,, Tea plantation. You can find fresh and clean air, and sometimes a heavy fog in the afternoon, while your eyes 360 degrees can swap nice views down there, south sea, Magelang, Kulonprogo and Jogja. And you can get some warm tea or other hot drinks, same as other local snacks. A must try when you visited Jogja..

For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Gamplong Studio Alam, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Bukit Wisata Pulepayung. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Gamplong Studio Alam is an open-air attraction located to the west of the city, featuring period-style buildings recreated for movie shoots and photo opportunities. It has become popular among fans of Hanung Bramantyo's films, as it has been used as a shooting location for several movies. The studio offers numerous unique and Instagrammable photo spots, making it a favorite among tourists and photography enthusiasts. Visitors can explore various interesting spots within the studio and enjoy food stalls located nearby.

This is the place where recording/shooting some of the most popular movies in Indonesia took place. 25km out of Yogyakarta. You need to buy an entrance ticket, take care that you buy a ticket for all the attractions at once, otherwise you walk up and down. The attractions are not very well maintained, and there is little explanation of what you see. This would have been important if you didnot see the movies on which the attractions are based. The train at the main entrance only brings you hundred meters or so, you can easily walk that, which us preferable especially if there are a lot of persons to enter the train. All in all don't know if I would go here again.

From Rp. 5,000.00 to Rp. 10,000.00, the setting is quite unique and the atmosphere depicts the 1990s. But the place is very far from the city. I recommend this for you guys!!

An excellent place for taking pictures. The entry ticket is IDR 20.000/- per person. There are various types of places inside for taking pictures like the rope bridge, flying fox, golf spot.... The staffs are helpful and provides you the safety gear and helps freely. We actually lost our car keys there and every staff helped us in finding that! Its a personal best choice at Yogyakarta 👌🏻

The spot isn't large, but the view is amazing. We visited this place passing a dam called Waduk Sermo, climbing up a hill with very steep and narrow road. After quite long climb...we reached the top and as I had expected (I saw the pics on Google) we saw a beautiful dam surrounded by green carpet all over the hill.

Nice spot to spend time, beautiful view. The only problem is the road to go there is quite challenging. You can enjoy nice view of waduk sermo from this area. Fresh air and calm nature will rejuvenate your soul. However, there's few activities that closed at the time I visit this place (mostly due to not enough visitors after the pandemic). Also not many food stall that open to bussiness, afaik only 4 on top and 2-3 at the parking lot.
Rendra S — Google review
The views are beautiful, especially during morning sun. Big and tall trees around. A view of a reservoir might be the best part. Many spots for photoshoots. Either free or paid and taken by a photographer. But to get here is a struggle itself. The road is too steep and narrow. No clear sign that direct you to the place. Be careful because side by side is deep cliffs. The trip itself is also an amazing journey. Parking lot is also a problem during peak season. Not really enough to accommodate visitors because it is too narrow.
Agustine D — Google review
I was a bit disappointed by this park to be honest. It's quite a far drive and it's not very big. We had bad weather, which probably didn't help. Also, all the photo spots are closed between 12-1pm, so we couldn't even access the platforms. The drive towards it was nice though!
Yasmine C — Google review
It's a very good place for family. There are many spots for capturing pictures. But you need to pay some money each person to climb onto the spot. Yet you can also capture moments for free in any spots possible. The parking garage is available 200 m from the entrance. You may rent an ojek or you can walk by yourself. (I personally find it unworthy😅) Oh, actually 4 KM before the parking garage and entrance, some people will come to you to offer a ride with Jeep. I strongly advice you to not take any offering from people who offer you a rent to Jeep ride if you want to save money. It costs 200k. But if your car doesn't have enough cc (1250 cc minimum i guess), it's OK to take Jeep ride (due to bad condition of the road).
Fanjar W — Google review
Love the place though the area is not big and it is far from anywhere. It is actually a lookout with a view to Waduk Sermo and its surrounding. The scenery is a good and the air is fresh. There are three 'main' photo spots, you need to pay for each spot or have a 'package' for all three spots - the photo spot fee is per person. The photographer can help to take photos by using their DSLR with price per picture that you want (e.g. can take 10 photos but only take 2-3 photos). You pay only the photos that you want and the pictures will be copied to your handphone by cable data. The photo spot and the DSLR's photo fee are 'cheap' for a tourist area.
Agus W — Google review
it is nice place to be here. the road is challanging and your body must be in good condition. it is so cheap but for taking pictures in places for photo are expensive. here also you can get outbond for children. if you come here with your children, it will be nice and enjoyble

Bukit Wisata Pulepayung is a new tourist destination in Kulon Progo, located at an altitude of about 1,640 feet. From the hilltop, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the vast and green Sermo Reservoir. This spot offers various Instagram-worthy photo opportunities that blend seamlessly with nature. Accessible via hilly and slippery roads, it's recommended to travel by car as motorcycles are not advised.
An excellent place to have a cup of coffee!! You can have a breath taking view of the lake Wadu sermo from the top deck of the resturant inside and have really delicious food. The place seems too serene and peaceful with less visitors. They have various options to take pictures and its the best place for social media enthusiasts. We had fried casava and some other Indonesian delicasies there which tasted excellent.
Dr.Vishnu K — Google review
It was literally a long and winding uphill road going to the place. Good thing we went there in the morning and we were the only ones there. I was quite disappointed that the attraction I was looking forward to was no longer there-- the yellow crescent moon that you can sit on. If you love Highlands this is for you. Just prepare for the long winding journey.
Febrina T — Google review
An out of town place to sit and take in the views. There was almost no one here when I visited which was a nice respite from the busy city centre. It’s primarily set up to take selfies but we had lunch on the roof deck looking over the valley below. Such beautiful scenery with a refreshing breeze. Very affordable lunch - was about AUD$7 for two people. The drive here was nice through the villages and forest up the ridge. Pair this with a visit to the waterfall at Kedung Pedut.

This place has breathtaking view of Waduk Sermo, green hills surrounding it, up to the coastline. After you take a tour around, you can rest and enjoy the view at the mini bar. Snack and drinks are relatively cheap and tastes good. I kept ordering their tempe mendoan over and over (6k for 4 pieces, I think). Great with family or friends, I’d say this place is worth visiting for only 20k entrance fee.

Good spot for pictures. Up on hill with beautiful mountain+lake view. Hilly and slipery road to get here, need a pro! Take car, and motorcycle is not recommended. . The locals help us all the way to get here, they put someone in every corner to guide and monitor to make sure we get here safely. Good system. . Food and drinks are standard and cheap. And seems like they empower the locals in all sectors. Hope they keep empower the locals and develop the community. Just love this place!! . Ticketing List (2018): Entry the village (masuk area) @5k/person Pulepayung entrance @5k/person Photo spots @15k/person/spot (about 6-7 spots) Photo (taking picture) service @3k/pic (min. 3pics). Come here on weekdays or off-season

Nice place to get good view photoshoot but i think if you kinda want to bring your kid and ur old parent, better off try to find someplace else. there is a steep road that you have to endure. but if your family is fit enough than just go. Every photo spot u need to pay. even when enter to the area also need to pay. plus u need to go there by jeep. also need to pay. 😂
Izzuddin H — Google review
Gorgeous place to spend. Some photoshot spots has tariff but you can get already good background to take pictures. Well maintained areas and clean. Area entry fee is 2k pp Pulepayung entry fee 10k pp There are coffee shops inside with reasonable prices. Enjoy and sip the coffee with gorgeous view! The access road from Waduk Sermo is much better in terms of width and asphalt conditions. Bear in MIND for soo many steep curved roads - make sure your vehicles are in good condition and break is in place. The alternative road from godean is quite fast but it passes remote village passes and so narrow and 45° steep and short curved. Be very very careful - if your car is on it, motorcycle wont be able to pass. So 1car fitted road. Even when motorists should know how to handle gears well for this access. Continue the journey to waduk sermo , take a boat ferry for 10K pp for 30min trip.
Putri S — Google review
Good place to enjoy the scenery from the top. Have a nice view. There many spots instagramable here, such as sepeda langit, jembatan syurga, angkasa, lollipoo, wolu, etc. Photographer available here. The entrance fee to this location is 10k/person in the weekend. And you must pay the entrace fee again for each spots, the entrance fee for each spot from 10k-30k / person. You can ask the photographer to take your picture and you can get that picture 3k/file. But, there are some spots that free 3 files photo, i mean that entrance fee have included 3 files photo. The road to the location is quite extreme, the incline is very sharp. Must be careful, especially if you come here using a motorcycle 'matic' . But if you don't dare, in this area have provided 'ojek' to get you to the top of the Pule Payung hill.

Restaurant
Kedai Kopi Pari in Girimulyo is a spacious traditional restaurant with a rural atmosphere. Customers can choose to sit on wooden benches or on the floor for equal comfort. An interesting feature of the place is the decoration of dried rice tied to the walls, serving as both an ornament and an icon. The premises, situated on Menoreh Hill, provide a perfect setting to gather with family, friends, or colleagues.
overall experience is great, the price for the food is really cheap considering the location, there's plenty of choices to go around, although it's a traditional menu, the quality is good, as for the view was very pretty, even we went there when it was raining, it's still worth the trip, the coffee is good too, very traditional, classic.

Although the view is just what it is, but the premises offers difference atmosphere. Located in the slope of Menoreh Hill, the place is a perfect choice to gather with your family, friends or colleagues. The Javanese concept building, makes you feel in "The Real Java". A lot of menu, from heavy menu to light traditional snacks and many single origin coffee. Spacious parking also provided, A perfect place to relax and just enjoy the fresh air, away from your daily routines....

Great place to hangout with family, friends or even only by yourself. The place is quite, with woody interior & exterior. You'd definitely felt like eating in the middle of the woods. Clean air, sorrounded with greens. Journey to get into this place wasn't easy, because it is located on the Menoreh Hill, so the road kinda felt like a roller coaster. But it was worth the price because the scenery is breathtaking. They offers a lot kind of foods. Ranging from traditional foods (geblek, mendoan, pisgor, etc), drinks (wedang, kopi, jahe, etc) and others. Food is nice! Also they have free wifi (wifi suprisingly fast and has no password! VERY convenient, consider that you are in the middle of the hill with no provider signal). Talk about convenient, they also provide cashless payment. QRIS is provided. Definitely come here again someday!

Nicely done hangout place! good vibes, good atmosphere these guys have. One of some places I've visited in Kulonprogo, 10/10 would recommend. Will come again, absolutely. Groups or alone, no problem. I came here on my own, still enjoying the atmosphere here. Affordable prices, nice service and friendly crews, even when I came ALONE they still treat me like other groups (others came in groups when I got there). Great taste for traditional menu, ooh and also don't forget to try the coffee they served, it came from Menoreh Hills, and nicely done served. I ordered meals too, about 50k IDR in total bills (yes, I got THAT real coffee, too). Now let the photos speaks for themselves.

The weather was cloudy when we visited this place yesterday. Went there with 3 coworkers to have a lunch break after visiting a community in Gunung Kelir, a village near to it. Surrounded by big trees, the place is an absolute way to feel the nature. Good ambience with antique and old fashioned furniture, Kopi Pari is a traditional coffee shop located on the hills of Pegunungan Menoreh, Kulonprogo, about 1,5-2 hours driving a car from Yogyakarta city to the west direction. Getting there, you will see a beautiful scenery with trees and paddy fields along the way. So peaceful. Kopi Pari specialities’ are coffee. But because four of us are not coffee lovers, we didn’t order any of the specialities. We only ordered their traditional main course, which was so yummy. Rice, jangan ndeso (cassava leaves cooked with coconut milk), fried native chicken, and tempe mendoan (tempeh moderately fried with flour), and geblek (snack made of cassava flour). All were finished not more than 30 minutes! So yummy! The coffees themselves are coffees which planted around Pegunungan Menoreh, a mountain range in Kulonprogo district. There are many kinds of local coffee product they serve. You can even see how they brew the coffee by their baristas from their open kitchen. It such a good experience to visit this place. The price is also affordable. Range between 10-25K for the meals and 2-15K for drinks. If you are tired of work, want an escapade then visit and enjoy this place, feel the nature and you’ll be fresh and relieved.

Kedai Kopi Pari is a very nice place to have lunch and enjoy traditional vibes with your family and friend. They offered wide range of local foods (mendoan, geblek, etc) and beverages (wedang, dawet, etc) Occasionally during weekends and holidays they also served special snacks, meals, and drinks. The servers are really kind and polite. The price is really affordable.

Despite the challenge of finding the location due to poor internet connection and road conditions, visitors are rewarded with refreshing waters and breathtaking views upon arrival.
I love this place very much. It reminds me of a lot of memory. The water is so pure, fresh, so is the water. Kulon Progo always gives the best view for healing and relaxing. There are two entrance but both of them are so good and fresh. Pls, keep your trash n don't throw it carelesly.

Worth to visit! Its 50KM from piyungan Bantul, DIY. Nice place to visit, nice people, very infomative and helpful. Very clean. The water feel so good. Parking fee for motorbike is 2K, ticket 10K/person.

It's a river from the source itself, it's very cold water and many rocks lies underneath so treat carefully. The water on the most highest is clear, blue and beautiful but the the one that goes under that is brown and you can't see the depth or rocks beneath makes it dangerous. Also worth noticing the parking lot for motorcycle is pretty far up to the entrance so be careful for going up or down the road as it is quite slippery and steep.
Arthareza P — Google review
I came there with my sister and brother on Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. The weather is a bit cloudy but still bright and a bit warm. It is located in a hill, so that the water is cool and fresh. The ambience is calming, healing, and refreshing. The ticket is only Rp10.000, and spare Rp2000 for motorcycle parking. The river is small, but look intimate. You can come with your family, bring your child. You can go there with your best friend or your significant other. Just feel the water pass your body. Let your body wet with the fresh cool water. But, the road you'll pass to get there is narrow, very steep and winding. So that you have to drive more carefully. There is an open stage, presumably for art performances by local villagers. There is a small children's pool for fish therapy. The fish will eat the dead skin on your feet. That's what fish therapy is. The river water comes from the cave and then descends into a small waterfall. The cave is dark and slippery. No one is allowed to enter the cave. Along the river flow surrounded by dense forest, cool and shady trees. You don't need to be afraid of getting wet and not being able to change clothes, because there is a toilet to rinse. Outside the river there are also food and snack sellers. So, you don't need to be afraid of hunger.

More ecxiting on playing with water after hiking from downhill up to upper side, and you can use foot therapy with fish for your more healthy body

Beautiful. The water, view, air was still pure. Having about 5 waterfalls and 3 weirs-pool (2 for adult and 1 for kids). The water was really fresh, still pure come from top of the mountain. There is camping ground and outbound facility for group activity. Many stalls there where you can eat simply food or buy needs. You need 6k each for entrance ticket. For you who want to visit this place please make sure you have good condition both your body and your vehicle, and choose a really good driver. Considering how far this object, I recommend you to come here at morning on sunny day. Nah, weekday was very recommend for you who prefer quiet atmosphere.

Fresh and beautiful natural tiny swimming pool if you'd like some adventure. The way to go there is quite extreme. It's long, uphill and winding, since it's located in Menoreh mountains. The scenery down the hill is magnificent. The entrance ticket is also very cheap. Yet, it's not really enjoyable if it's crowded. The pool itself is small but it has clear cold water. There is a smaller pool for children too. If you're hungry you can buy some food in the small resto nearby. It's a good place to visit yet I do wish it were bigger.
Estu. K — Google review
I would love to come here again. There are 3 pools (obviously from the river), the first one is the 2m deep pool, it's the nearest pool from the entrance. You need to walk through some flights of stairs to reach the 2nd pool (1.5m deep) and more to 3rd pool (1m deep). I love how they put lots of bench and water to drink, because, yes, I did need some rest between the walk. Lol. There are also lots of trash can, some toilets, and a musholla located up near the 1.5m pool. Some food stalls are also available, near that pool, and near the entrance. Bisa sewa pelampung dan ban juga. Harganya 5-10k. Definitely worth to come (and also the flights of stairs) Oh, they also have outbond space, "joglo" buat acara, dan tulisannya ada camping space tapi belum nemu tempatnya. Kudu ngehubungin pihak sananya dulu kalau mau adain acara disana.

Amazing turchese water and few different natura pool where to swim. Walk there is easy, probably around 10 minutes to reach the pools. We loved this place 🙏🏼

A cute waterfall about 1.5hrs out of Yogyakarta. The water was so cool and refreshing on a hot humid day. I sat in the top pool under the waterfall which was nice and not crowded. The water is so blue and makes great for photos or just relaxing while listening to the water. It’s a steep walk back uphill to the car. You’ll need a car and driver to get here. The drive is nice through the forest and small villages.

I got lucky because I came here on weekdays so the place was not crowded. You have to walk pretty far to reach the waterfall and the road was kinda steep you need to be careful. But the walks are all worth it beautiful pond the water is clear and a bit chilly. You can rent life vest for 10k it have 2 pond one is 4m deep and other is 1,5m deep. Very nice experience

Don't come on the weekends. There is way too much people in every pound and the areas for photos have lineup. 😂 Water is crystal clear and greenish blue. Would have been terrific during the weekdays to come here for a swim. Quite far from Yogyakarta center though 90 minutes drive. Big ticket to get in but very good price and have Wi-Fi available for free at the top. They have several shops along the way that have food, drinks and souvenirs.

Enjoying fresh water from an medium waterfall. The road to this place is quite challenging. Make sure your driver here is quite experience. And your vehicle in healthy condition and not overloaded. The scenery, the ambience is so natural. From the parking area to the waterfall, we have to walk for about 10minutes, not too far. The entrance fee is 10000/pax.

First time visit this place and didn't have time to go below where the pool was, the access road was a lot inclining and narrow too, sometimes the truck is passing through this road too and if you use a car to go here just be patience. Would come here again to bath in waterfall.

Air Terjun Kedung Pedut is an area with lots of waterfalls. Its a popular place for the local youth to go swimming, which can be done in several ponds. Take a ride with the Flying Fox. Because of these activities this place has lost some of its natural aspects, but if you like swimming and playing in the refreshing pools this is the place to be. You can take a walk around the pools as well, via many stairs and wooden bridges. All well maintained. Entrance Rp. 10.000 for locals, non-locals pay more. Parking for motor Rp. 3.000. Trip from Yogyakarta some 35 km, located in the beautiful Kulon Progo Recency. Toilets and warungs available.

Waduk Sermo Camping Ground is a picturesque destination perfect for nature lovers and camping enthusiasts. Nestled by the serene Sermo Reservoir, the campsite offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and calm waters. The area is well-maintained, with clean facilities and ample space for tents, making it ideal for both small and large groups. The peaceful environment is perfect for a relaxing escape from the city, with opportunities for fishing, boating, and hiking nearby. However, be prepared for basic amenities, as the site is more suited for those who enjoy a more rustic camping experience. The road leading to the campground can be challenging, especially during the rainy season, but the beauty and tranquility of the location make it worth the effort. Overall, Waduk Sermo is a fantastic spot for a weekend getaway surrounded by nature.

Serene and peaceful if you want to get away from the bustling Jogja town center. Getting here would required one to drive through some narrow roads and if you are not good at traveling in a windy road, this is not for you. This plane is about 20 mins away from the Kalibiru which one can see the cloud, the jogja international airport, the padi fields and the mountains range in the near vicinity.

Sermo is a dam with a scenic view, holding approximately 25 million cubic meters at the normal water level. The dam was built at the Rancah River, a tributary of the Progo river system. This reservoir serves 3,000 hectares farming land and the remaining outflow runs into the Bawang River. The dam was constructed in the Kulonprogo Regency, starting in the year 1994, completed and inaugurated on 20 November 1996 by the Indonesian Republic President, Soeharto. Currently the dam is managed by a specific dam management unit under the Ministry of Public Works and Housings. Local tourism flourishes within the dam’s greenbelt.

Good view. Poor service. Too slow. Really disorganized. Standard price. The recommended dishes here: fried tofu, sayur asam, and grilled chicken. Others are really below standard.

Located in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, it's a medium-sized reservoir. A beautiful view on the water and the green surrounding mountains. There is a large parking lot with gazebos, some food shops and motor boats for a trip around. A good restaurant named Top View not far from the parking lot offers delicious Javanese and popular foods with a cozy atmosphere, a lodging, a clean toilet and a musholla. The place is dark and desolate at night. Recommended attractions nearby include Pule Payung view resort and Kopi Pari cafe.

Went here together with colleagues for lunch break while on duty in the surrounding area. The restaurant is spacious with tons of parking spaces and lesehan. The food is reasonably priced but it took some time to be served. Tastewise it’s not bad but nothing too special either.

An alternate resto to hang out in Wates, Kukonprogo. A lil but hidden from busy city center, the site offers warm and fresh atmosphere since the surroundings still natural an open space.. The food and service is OK, the price also affordable, and spacious parking also available... For you woukd like to gather or eat with different atmosphere, this site can be an alternate...

(Translated by Google) The food is fresh and tastes great. The prices are above average compared to other restaurants in Wates, but they're worth it. The restaurant concept is two connected gazebos. Suitable for small groups of 4-8 people per gazebo. They offer both set menus and a la carte options. The seafood is also delicious and fresh.
