Fuji in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Fuji, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Fuji is a convenient base on the south side of Mount Fuji, offering striking views of the mountain along with easy rail access between Tokyo and Shizuoka. The city sits by Suruga Bay, where spots like Tagonoura Port and coastal parks provide scenic waterfront walks and views of both the sea and the peak. Nearby tea fields highlight Shizuoka Prefecture’s role as one of Japan’s major green tea producers, and local shops and factories sometimes offer tastings and tours. Fuji also connects quickly to other regional attractions, including Fujinomiya and the Fuji Five Lakes area, making it useful for exploring the wider Mount Fuji region.
With favorites like Shindoricho Park, Tagonoura Fisheries Cooperative cafeteria, and Mt. Fuji Children's World, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Fujinomiya Yakisoba Antenna Shop and Yuhobi so you can get the best taste of Fuji while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Mount Fuji, the iconic snow-capped peak and volcano, is the highest in Japan and the 7th highest island peak on earth. Yamanashi Prefecture, home to Mount Fuji, offers a serene escape from Tokyo's hustle and bustle. Visitors can explore the picturesque Fuji Five Lakes, Kiyosato highland resort, historical temples like Erinji and Kuonji, rejuvenating hot springs, and renowned wineries.
Definitely recommend hiking fuji. The sunrise is amazing and though a challenge it’s worth the rewards. And you get to stand on top of Japan at 3776m Quite crowded during August and not too easy to book the mountain huts but you can always join a tour

Breathtaking and unforgettable experience! Seeing Mt. Fuji in person is truly magical. The view is stunning from every angle, especially on a clear day or during sunrise and sunset. Whether you visit the 5th Station, Lake Kawaguchi, or view it from afar, the scenery is peaceful and awe-inspiring. It’s a must-see landmark that captures the beauty of Japan’s nature and spirit. A perfect spot for photos, hiking, and unforgettable memories!

A reminder that Mt. Fuji represents strength, resilience, and enduring character, similar to the steadfastness of the mountain itself. A spiritual symbol of spiritual growth and enlightenment, a national symbol of Japan's strength, and a source of artistic inspiration.

Stunning and majestic. was lucky the day was sunny and could see the snow capped apex. amazingly symmetrical volcano.
Gunasegaran R — Google review
Don't underestimate this place, some may so it's a walk in the park but it's not. If you're not fit, you will suffer, especially if you plan on ascending and descending on the same day which is what I had done. I do a lot of walk and hike but this was the first proper mountain I had ever climbed. It wasn't so much of my fitness that was an issue, but rather, the altitude sickness. And yes, altitude sickness is real! About ⅔ into the climb, I started feeling the affects of it. For every few steps I went up in elavation, I kept stopping because I felt like hurling. Eventually, I threw up three times, at three different stages of the latter part of the climb. My companion on the other hand, who had never done this let alone walking or hiking, didn't suffer a bit. So it does differ in affects, from person to person. But having said that, do stay overnight and acclimatise for God's sake, as it will make the climb more pleasurable.
Tajul I — Google review
The gorgeous Mount Fuji! Blessed to witness this volcano peak on a clear day. One can never be tired watching this view the whole day.

Visiting Mt. Fuji is a breathtaking and unforgettable experience. Seeing this majestic peak in person feels truly magical — its beauty shines from every angle, especially at sunrise or sunset. Whether you’re admiring it from the 5th Station, the shores of Lake Kawaguchi, or from afar, the scenery is serene and awe-inspiring. A true symbol of Japan’s natural beauty and spirit — perfect for photos, hikes, and lifelong memories.

Unforgettable, an amazing experience. From the 5th station caught a glimpse of Mt. Fuji, it was raining and cloud covered most of the time. Plenty other spots to see Mt. Fuji

Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine located in the town, offering stunning views of Mount Fuji and a serene pond. This shrine, constructed around a thousand years ago for protection from volcanic eruptions, holds great significance as the head shrine among 1300 Sengen shrines across Japan. It was once considered the starting point for pilgrimages up Mount Fuji and is adorned with a large red Torii gate.
Local shinto shrine with many local visitors. Not many tourist here as its not on the main tourist route. There is a small pond spring next to the shrine. Its was surprising nice to see such clear water spring with local fishes. Peaceful and nice if you have sometime to make a detour here. We drove here and paid parking is just next to the shrine.
Chris D — Google review
A holy place to visit while in Fujinomiya. At the entrance is a large Tori gate, walking further you’ll see the temple and some people offering prayers so be mindful when taking pictures. There is also a small lake just nearby.
Francisco S — Google review
Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine in Fujinomiya was really peaceful. I loved the bright orange color of the shrine and the whole area had a very calm vibe. The walk around the grounds was serene, with mostly locals and not too many tourists, which made it feel more authentic. There was even some kind of event going on when I visited, though I wasn’t sure what it was. It’s a cozy spot to take your time, admire the bridge, the garden, the park, and of course the shrine itself. Not a place with tons to do, but definitely worth stopping by if you’re already in the area.
Elijah E — Google review
Very pretty shrine during cherry blossom season, and wide spaces for walking. There is a pond where people prepare themselves for their hike up moun Fuji, so it was interesting to see the locals interact with it here
Justin L — Google review
This is a lovely place to visit. I recommend going here with a good tour guide like we did as we learnt so much about the tradition and religion from him.

Gorgeous shrine and beautiful scenery. Cool yourself with crystalline water from Mt Fuji. Excellent photo opportunities too
Andres S — Google review
Great place to experience the temple ambiance near Mt. Fuji. The temple is very picturesque. I would say the whole experience was typical as with other temples. The place is quiet, good for praying and contemplation. The colors in winter are very muted accented with the orange color of most of the temple buildings.

WoW! This is one of the best Shinto Shrines I’ve ever visited. Very large grounds with ponds of super clear water and it is very cold. Many smaller shrines here along with the main shrine. Super well kept, paid parking available. The small river running next to the shrine grounds is beautiful. I would love to visit again.

Obuchi Sasaba, situated north of Fuji City, offers a stunning natural setting and around two hectares (five acres) of green tea fields. The terraced plantations provide a picturesque backdrop with the iconic Mt. Fuji in the distance, making it a popular spot for photographers and media during the early to mid-May peak season. Accessing this scenic location can be challenging without private transportation, as there are limited public transport options available.
Beautiful lookout in the hills above Fuji, and at the foot of the mighty mountain itself. Lovely tea gardens and forest, small timber photo platform, cafe (I think, it was closed when we were there). Lovely neighbourhood is worth exploring too. We caught the bus from Fuji up the mountain. Easy walk from the bus stop. Lovely views of the city below from some points as well. Take water if you are using transit just in case the cafe is closed. There is a 7/11 very close by, and the return bus stops there also. A great way to see Mt Fuji. We went at sunset which was absolutely worth it!
Patrick M — Google review
We followed one of the popular landmarks to see Mt. Fuji, but at first, it was hidden behind the clouds. The two ladies selling tea there were so kind and shared our excitement when Mt. Fuji finally appeared in front of us after waiting for about 20–30 minutes. If you're renting a car, this is definitely a great spot to visit while chasing views of Mt. Fuji.
Voragunya C — Google review
A very beautiful place to feel connected to Shizuoka's culture, as you can appreciate the view of Mount Fuji while also seeing and appreciating the tea plantations. There are also stalls selling souvenirs and hot tea for you to enjoy. The staff are very attentive. The parking lot isn't very large and the streets are a bit narrow, so if you can afford to go in a small car, it's better.
Claudia M — Google review
We had a wonderful time visiting Obuchi Sasaba Green Tea Plantation! The farm offers breathtaking scenery, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. There’s also an opportunity to rent an original farmer’s costume, which adds to the experience while walking around the plantation. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the visit even more enjoyable.

Location: Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan Obuchi Sasaba is one of Japan’s most iconic scenic spots, famous for offering the "quintessential Japanese view": neatly manicured rows of vibrant green tea fields set directly against the backdrop of a majestic, snow-capped Mount Fuji. Absolutely fantastic scenic area to visit, on a clear day, you can see for miles with a shot of Mt. Fuji. Just gorgeous.

Obuchi sasaba nestled in rural area of fujinomiya, accessible by very limited bus from fujinomiya station, around 600 yen one way fare bus. Walking from the sobina shita bus stop near 711 are mysterious, chill, relaxing, and full of serenity. The pathaway alone is interesting and the green tea field are interesting but i got bit unlucky not to see fuji-san due to its cloudy days. When i was there, i was alone and its really relaxing to just spend time walking around the green tea field. A worthy experience for anyone visiting japan.
HW — Google review
Great place for those driving car. The road is quite narrow and we didnt get to see mt fuji on the day we visited. The aunties selling the tea is very friendly! They offer us to free taste the tea and teach us how to make the tea!

This place is so amazing! 😃We visit this place 4-22-2024. It's so cloudy, we don’t get to see Mnt.😔 Fuji. But green tea farm is so beautiful. 😃👏 Our taxi driver is so nice, he wait for us. We appreciate him so much. If you visit this place I think for us it's best to hire a taxi.

Nature & Parks
Located in Kuwasaki, Fuji City, Mt. Fuji Children's World is a fun-filled kids' attraction offering a diverse range of indoor and outdoor activities. From nature observation and horseback riding to water play and animal petting, the park provides various engaging programs for children. Additionally, visitors can enjoy amenities such as restaurants, rest houses, barbecue areas, shops, hotels, campgrounds, and unique lodging options like yurts within the park premises.
This place is an aging gem. The prices can be beaten and the grounds are naturally beautiful set with Fuji-San as a fantastic backdrop. There are sign of wear and some best-effort managed vegetation growth, but it’s not worth thinking about. The splash pad and water slide were my 4 year olds favorite. Also, the canoe/kayak route is free! It’s a great place to take a leisurely hike around. 5-stars for stress free fun!
Luke M — Google review
Went in early Dec 2024. The place offers very nice scenery of Mount Fuji. The attraction for children is very limited during the cold season. The snow ride is closed when we are they, which is very disappointing. The animal farm is not big. There's horses , rabbits ,sheep, goats, and Alpaca. There's an entrance fee to pay. Every attraction need to pay for a fee like the tricycle. The place is huge and walking from one attraction to another take around 10min. If choose to take bus or train to get to those attraction, you need to pay for the ride as well. Overall, average for children experience and adult for the scenery.

If the weather is clear you must go here, if you have young kids or are a kid at heart you must go here, if you play disc golf you must go here, but it is a short hole course, tricky shots but short. The views....!!!!!

The disc golf course was a great hike and fun time. Overall a surreal experience, felt kinda like being in the abandoned amusement park in Spirited Away!

We visited Fuji Children’s World on Saturday, November 1, 2025. We took a taxi from Gotemba Station, which cost around 5,600 yen, as there was no public transportation available to and from the park. When it was time to return, the staff were exceptionally helpful, they assisted us in booking a taxi, stayed with us until it arrived, and even escorted us to the pick-up location where the driver was waiting.
Clement C — Google review
It is a nice place to take younger children to enjoy nature and play outdoors. It is best to bring picnic type lunch with you. You can enjoy an entire day outside walking o trails, children riding ponies, trips on the water in boats. There is frisbee golf and grand golf. There is not a lot for you to purchase inside the park so best come prepared with drinks and snacks as needed. If you don’t have children but an a nice place to walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery this is o e of those places.
Bill G — Google review
My family loves visiting Mt. Fuji Children's world! In August you can visit their beetle exhibit and hold stag or Hercules beetles. My children love the waterside and "ninja" water run. The highlight for us is always the fishing pond, where we catch and grill our lunch, as they will gut the fish you catch. It's a great place to enjoy with kids, lots of beautiful nature to see. Be sure to plan to spend the entire day here, as there is so much to do and you won't want to leave!

Yakisoba Restaurant
The Fujinomiya Yakisoba Antenna Shop is a no-frills spot that offers generous servings of fried noodles, along with outdoor seating. This local specialty is a must-try for visitors to the Fuji area, featuring firm locally-made noodles, flavorful sauce, and unique toppings like Nikukasu meat residue and sardine shavings. The shop has gained recognition, winning the Gold Grand Prix at a national competition for reasonable local food.
Had both original and mixed chili flavour. both are delicious, fragrant! Oishi! Noodles are chewy and flavourful. Elevated with the spices. And there’s free mount fuji drinking water. Must try when you are in that area. It is just a few mins walk from Mount Fuji World Heritage Center.

must try fujinomiya yakisoba! it has plenty of cabbage and pork lard stir fried in and smells amazing even if you are just walking by. theh also give you a small paper cup to drink from the fujisan's natural spring water basin!

A little bit cue because of a New Year’s holiday. Noodle was good.

Service is good but bloggers over exaggerated. The noodle taste bad compared to other countries fried noodle. If they claimed this is the best fried noodle in japan, then means Japan doesnt know how to cook fried noodle

(Translated by Google) It was like a cafe + cake shop, and the cakes looked really delicious. There are several parking spaces available in front of the store and across the road. The signboard is big, but is it a warehouse? It looks like this, so be careful not to pass by it lol I'm curious about the contents of the lunch...but I came alone lol There is also a counter so it is easy to enter even by yourself. I was also intrigued by the lunch of stuffing various things into choux pastry... This time I made a chicken meat pie plate! After all, I want to eat something I don't usually make at home lol The pie dough is delicious! It's hearty and the side dishes are delicious. The cake looked delicious so I also ate the cheesecake. At first glance, the exterior of the building looks like a factory warehouse, so it's easy to miss it lol The inside has been renovated and is a stylish space. Just seeing the sweets in the showcase makes me excited. The cake was especially delicious, especially the rich honey lemon squash pictured on the signboard. There are also craft works displayed next to the cash register, so if you are interested, you can enjoy those as well. (Translated by Google) Our first visit was around 11:00 AM on Friday, July 4th, 2025. This stylish cafe feels like it was renovated from a warehouse. The ceilings are high, and it appears spacious considering the number of seats. There are about five tables that seat three to six people, and about ten counter seats, and it seemed like each counter seat was occupied in pairs. Only two of the counter seats have windows that overlook the tea fields, so there are only two seats with a view from the window. These are apparently reserved seats. The last six seats face the warehouse wall, so you can't see the view. Since there were only two of us, we sat at the counter seats, which don't have a view, rather than at the table in the middle. From the menu, we ordered the Choux Sale Deli Plate (1,300 yen x 2) (A choux pastry sandwich with a daily deli (prepared dish) and either homemade ham or salmon meunière made with Fujinomiya chicken. It comes with soup.) We chose one of the homemade ham and one of the salmon meunière. Set drinks were 400 yen + 200 yen for two of the Homemade Honey Lemon Squash (An original drink made with enzyme lemon and honey.) We also ordered the Seasonal Melon Shortcake (740 yen) and Mont Blanc (750 yen). The cakes were in the display case, and I had seen a photo of the strawberry short chocolate on Google Maps and wanted to order it, but unfortunately it wasn't in the display case, so I reluctantly went with the melon shortcake. As for the Choux Sale Deli Plate, the choux pastry itself was a bit of a challenge for me. It was hard and dry. As for the side dishes, I thought the chicken ham and salmon meunière were delicious, but the other dishes were just average. Reading the reviews on Google Maps, it seemed like the cakes were more popular than the lunch items, so I had high hopes. The Mont Blanc was certainly delicious. The melon shortcake had a nice, smooth, and moderately sweet cream, but the melon sandwiched inside the sponge made it watery, which I couldn't quite appreciate. The homemade honey lemon squash was too strong and difficult to drink. The restroom was located on the right, down three steps of the warehouse's exterior stairs, but it may be inconvenient for people with mobility issues. The bill for two people was 5,290 yen, and although this was our first stop on this trip, I felt it was a bit pricey.

(Translated by Google) I went to a coffee shop in Fuji that my wife had been wanting to go to for a while, trying to get there around the same time it opened on Sunday. The three parking lots in front of the store were fully booked, including ours. There is a second parking lot nearby, but is it only for facing parking? So if you have a medium to large vehicle and don't like front-facing parking, you may need to make a reservation. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and I'm satisfied with the customer service, food taste, and price. I felt that the price of the choux poulet that my wife ordered and the large serving of chicken doria rice plus the price was a bit of a bargain. My recommendation is the shortcake I had for dessert. Even though I have less taste than my wife, I can still taste the freshness of the cake. Apparently they used Benihoppe strawberries, but when I ate it, the sweetness was so strong that I could barely taste the sourness of Benihoppe. I heard about this later, but it turned out that the cake had just been made that morning. Personally, I thought it was worth coming all the way just for this cake. I also had the coffee black, and since I don't like coffee with fruity acidity, it was very easy to drink and delicious. I would like to try Mont Blanc the next time I visit. Since it was empty, I was able to park my car right in front of the store. There's also a secondary parking lot. I ordered a hot coffee and a tea, and chose a cake for each. You can choose your favorite cake from the display case. The cakes were quite large and filling. Revisited in late August 2025 I visited for lunch on a weekday around 1:00 PM. Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Fuji Safari Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Myohoji. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Fuji Safari Park is a wildlife park that offers various safari experiences for visitors. You can choose to drive through the park in your own car, take a Jungle Bus with wire-netted windows to see and feed wild animals up close, or opt for the Super Jungle Bus with netted tops and sides. Another option is the Safari Navigation Car, where you can join a ranger in a 4WD vehicle for off-road driving and animal feeding.
There is a bus safari and a private safari tour, or you can drive you car through the safari. Very fun experience to see many different animals. We took a private tour and got to feed a variety of animals. The tour guides do not speak English. There is also a walking section where you can feed kangaroos, and see lion cubs (among other animals). Definitely worth a day trip to come here!

An open and wide Safari park where you can drive around watching different animals in the wild. If you want to feed animals you can ride their cute safari buses. We came here during holiday season so as expected it was so crowded and buses was not available. So we used our car. Our second time here, watching animals in the wild was really a great experienced.

I took my family here a couple years ago, it was an incredible experience! Very few places let you get so up close to the animals. Facilities were great, had very good cell phone service too. Staff was friendly, I recommend this to anyone with kids in the area.

I felt excited here! The super jungle bus is a must-try! I really enjoyed to view various animals. Unfortunately, the weather was not good to see Fujisan. I’ll go there in near future.

Fantastic chance to experience the animals close up. We arrived at 10am and jungle bus were already sold out for morning slots and only managed to get 1230pm bus. As we drove, so we could do our own driving within the safari zone first before taking the jungle bus ride. Jungle bus experience was great as we could feed the bears, lions, camels close up. Animals strutted freely in their own zones. Zebras and elks roamed freely, crossing the driving path. Highly recommended to reach the park as soon as it opens at 9am in order to get the morning jungle bus slots. If you have kid older than preschool, you could take their extreme jungle bus 😆

Open animal park that’s mostly a petting zoo. There’s a motorized portion where you can ride on a bus and feed the animals or drive through in a personal or rental vehicle with no feeding. YOU MUST BRING CASH!! Check the pics for prices or look online but EVERYTHING with the exception of buying the bus tickets and two restaurants requires cash. There is NO ATM on site which is ridiculous!! They have signs saying no food near the animals, but there are green spaces to eat your food if you bring it and coolers were seen around the parks. Very enjoy experience. Come early if you want to do the jungle bus option as it feels up fast. Wear comfortable shoes as theirs lots of walking on uneven and steep terrain

We visited Fuji Safari Park last weekend and had an amazing time. We drove our own car through the park and got to see the animals really close up. A great experience for all ages! It was safe, exciting, and felt very special seeing lions, bears, and more right beside our car. If you’re thinking about doing the safari with your own vehicle, you just need to buy admission tickets. Buying them online from the Safari’s page is easy and helps save a bit of money too. The best part is you can use your tickets any day within 90 days after purchase, which is super convenient for families.

At first we didn’t know it was a drive through ZOO. It’s the only one I have tried in Asia. If you have your own car you can drive your own but it’s you don’t have they have a bus to take you. Many safari animal inside, I think it’s a great place for elderly who can’t walk long or for kids is a good choice too. You can even feed kangaroos, capybara etc.

Hiromi Park is a 14-hectare expanse featuring paths, gardens, and stunning views of Mt. Fuji. It houses a history museum, playground, and numerous relocated cultural buildings such as pit-style dwellings and round burial mounds. The well-maintained park offers an opportunity to explore historical structures and learn about the local area's history. Visitors can also enjoy a sculpture garden, beautiful rose garden that blooms in early to mid-May, and various trees planted throughout the site.

This park has many historical buildings. If you visit this park, you will be able to learn a lot about the history of the local area. There is a collection of historical buildings that you can explore, a sculpture garden, and a large beautiful rose garden that blooms in Early-Mid May. On a clear day you can see a good view of Mt. Fuji framed by the beautiful scenery of the park. There is also a free museum that showcases the history of Fuji, and most recently was renovated to add a section dedicated to Kaguyahime. Better know in English as the "Bamboo Cutter and the Moon Princess", Kaguyahime is a Japanese folk tale where an old man finds a tiny girl inside a glowing bamboo shoot. This story is believed to have taken place in Fuji. The Kaguyahime exhibit is wonderful! There is a section that retells the story, another on the spiritual significance of Mt. Fuji, and an exhibit of paper dolls that depict the events of the story.

Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Fuji Rokusho Sengen Shrine, located in the town of Fuji-Yoshida, offers a challenging 19km hike from base to summit on the historic Old Yoshidaguchi Trail. The shrine is also known for its Shichi-Go-San ceremonies and visitors can request prayers without reservation. Upon arrival, one can explore the precincts and enjoy the serene atmosphere with carp swimming in the pond.
Delightful shrine with beautiful grounds. There are many fun statues dotted around, including Doraemon. The koi carp pond is stunning! They hold festivals on the following dates: Feb 3rd - Setsubun. May 3rd - The shrines annual festival. June 30th - Purification ritual. Mid August - Summer festival. First Sat of Oct - Autumn festival (maybe on a Sunday if it rains). Nov 23rd - Niiname-sai festival (harvest) Dec 31st - Purification ritual. Background: It is said to have been founded during the reign of the 5th Emperor Kōshō, and when the 10th Emperor Sujin sent his generals to the four provinces, this shrine was highly revered and presented with an imperial offering. When the 41st Emperor Heizei enshrined the Five Sengen Shrines in the first year of the Daidō era (806), this shrine was designated as the head shrine, and after the second year of the Kōnin era (811), when the Empress Saga of Japan prayed for the safe delivery of her child, this shrine became an imperial shrine where prayers for the peace of the nation were offered whenever an incident occurred.

I followed the directions of my car navigation system and found it easily, and the parking lot was easy to find, and there was a free parking lot right in front of the shrine. Then, I went to worship, and immediately after passing through the large torii gate, there was a "chozuya" (water basin) on the left, where there were flowers and wind chimes. At this point, I somehow felt that this was not a shrine you can find in your neighborhood. There are stone statues of Doraemon and Pikachu scattered around the grounds, and many beautiful wind chimes are hanging around the main hall, playing a cool sound. It is worth seeing, and it was a very nice and unique shrine. Other than that, it is a normal shrine where you can normally get amulets, ofudas, goshuin, etc. at the gift shop, so please visit it. The shrine maiden at the gift shop used very polite language and it was pleasant. 2025.07

(Translated by Google) Its roots lie in ancient India. In ancient Indian mythology, the god was known as "Kubera." His other name, Vaishravana, was translated into kanji as "Bisharamon," which evolved into "Bishamon" and then "Bishamonten." How did Kubera become Bishamonten?! I grinned as I researched it. The Four Heavenly Kings protect the Buddhist world. Tamonten protects the north of the four directions (east, west, north, and south). Apparently, when alone, he's called "Bishamonten." The Asian colors are reminiscent of India? Thailand? It's hard to believe it's a Japanese shrine or temple. I happened to notice this shrine on a road I was passing for the first time. (There's a torii gate across the street, though.) It appears to also be a temple. Nothing is visible from the street, but for some reason, my antennae were piqued. The temple grounds were quiet and deserted. Being alone in this space gave me the feeling of being in another world. The grounds are quite spacious, stretching from the torii gate to the main hall toward the ocean. To the left of the main hall, there's another exotic building. Apparently, there's a cave, although it requires an admission fee. Looking back, I wish I'd gone in. I'll definitely stop by again sometime soon. It was quite an interesting place! The following week, my husband and I went to see the cave. When we arrived around 1 p.m., the main hall and other buildings were closed. I was surprised to see how shrines and temples are closed. They're like wooden shutters, so you can't see inside. There was a sign saying that starting in November, they'll be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. I thought, "Oh really," but then I thought, "???" Hmm, are they even closed at all!? Since I was there, I decided to take a stroll around the area, and headed to the information sign. I stared at it and saw the word "research laboratory." "Research laboratory? What's a research laboratory?" There were a few signs prohibiting entry except for authorized personnel, so I made a U-turn halfway through. There were some poorly maintained areas, and it seemed like many areas were quite dilapidated. Personally, I think it's very close to being featured in Wonder Japan. The restaurant is particular about eating it with two types of salt, dashi soy sauce, olive oil, wasabi, and grated daikon radish, but I really wanted to eat it with sauce and mustard. Miso soup is red soup stock for some reason... I would like to change this to miso or something... It's tofu miso soup, but the fine tofu reminds me of instant. My partner is one and a half eel jus. Probably the most delicious eel to eat in the city. Unfortunately, the amount of rice didn't match the amount of eel, so there was some eel left over. I thought it would be nice to have someone to catch up with. Chawanmushi with plenty of rock seaweed has an unforgettable taste. Dessert is warabi mochi, which only comes with the gozen meal, and is soft and melt-in-your-mouth with a gentle sweetness. The number of items seemed to have decreased compared to the last time I visited the store, but I was very satisfied with the small number of items available. The towels are scented with Shikuwasa and lemon, making them refreshing, and the store has a great presentation. (Translated by Google) On the weekend of my road trip, I visited the store shortly after it opened. There are multiple cars in the parking lot. There were no customers in the store, but there seemed to be group reservations and more than half of the seats were occupied. There was also a tatami room in the back. Order from the menu on a tablet. The paper-based menu only includes drinks, a few recommendations, and an introduction to take-out items. There are so many menus that it takes time to choose on the tablet. The regulars who come to the store one after another seem accustomed to ordering a la carte dishes. This time, I had the grilled pork salad and mixed fries set meal, but there were many other dishes on the menu that looked delicious, including the seafood bowl. Due to the popularity of the store, there is no shortage of customers. I got the feeling that this is a restaurant that is loved by the locals. (Translated by Google) I got food poisoning on my first visit. It was around 1:00 PM on September 7, 2025. I ordered the "Lean Horse Sashimi" and the "Sashimi and Yakiniku Set Meal with Special Sauce." Both pieces of meat were thick and tough, and I had to swallow the parts I couldn't chew whole. Some parts of the horse sashimi had turned green. Four hours later, I started vomiting, experiencing diarrhea, a fever, and stomach pain. Fortunately, I recovered within a day, but I swore I'd never eat horse sashimi again. My friend who went with me ordered one piece of horse sashimi and the "Sashimi and Orange Chicken Set Meal." He said he experienced stomach pain the next morning, but nothing serious. Honestly, it was a terrible experience, but I admire the fact that they've been welcoming people with meals at the gateway to Mt. Fuji for 60 years. I also like the fact that they regularly share great deals via LINE and the web. Tagonoura Fisheries Cooperative cafeteria is a local eatery in Fuji City that offers classic fish dishes, with a specialty in serving fresh bowls of Shirasu, the local delicacy. The cafeteria has a utilitarian vibe and provides an authentic dining experience. Customers can order their food at a vending machine and enjoy it with a nice harbor view. The place is popular among locals for its amazing raw and cooked baby sardines, which are sourced directly from the ocean.
I went to the place because Google rating is good. The menu I want to eat is sold out. T T. Still, it was good.

Absolutely fresh and amazing raw shirasu bowl for 1,000¥. You can enjoy the food with a nice harbor view. However they only opens till 13:30pm so better get started early. From the entrance, there is a private seat for pets at the back of two tables. I thought this animal-friendly perspective and consideration were warm and wonderful. Authentic, local Fuji City eatery where you get fresh bowls of the local speciality, Shirasu! They’re little fish when boiled, turn white but I got them raw with a raw egg which is highly recommended here. Order at the vending machine, choose the amount of ride you’d like, first - red choices at the top, then the dish. You can add on an egg if you like, Fuji City is famous for those too. It closes at 2pm with last order at 1:30pm so it’s best to get there early. They do run out of some items. There’s also a fantastic view of Mt Fuji looking over the bay, the Fuji city factories in the foreground.

A Sassy Pit Stop on the Way to Kawaguchi! Road Station Fujikawa Rakuza was the perfect place to break up the long drive and give our engines (and legs) a rest! This cheeky rest area had everything we needed to refuel, recharge, and maybe even indulge in a little retail therapy. We snagged some scrumptious snacks, sipped on some sake, and even snapped a few sultry selfies with Mt. Fuji (who knew it could be so photogenic?). We also: - Got our shop on and scored some sweet souvenirs - Learned some saucy secrets about the region's history - Took a sneaky stroll around the surrounding area (don't tell anyone!) - Relaxed in the comfy rest areas (okay, maybe we took a quick snooze) - Enjoyed some naughty nibbles at the food court (hello, fried delights!) If you're heading to Kawaguchi, do yourself a favor and stop by Road Station Fujikawa Rakuza - your taste buds (and your sense of adventure) will thank you!"

Located in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Komenomiya Sengen Shrine is an ancient shrine said to have been founded during the Hakuho period of the Asuka period, boasting a history of over 1,300 years. According to the records of former shrine priest Nishikori, the shrine was founded in 674 AD when Oe no Nagamoto, an envoy of Emperor Tenmu, visited the site and performed a ritual. Initially, a 1.8-inch grain of rice was enshrined as the deity, and the shrine was named "Komenomiya" (Yonemiya) as a god who blessed all people with rice-eating fields. Later, in order to calm Mount Fuji after its eruption during the Daido period, the mountain spirit It is said that the shrine became Sengen Shrine when the enshrined deity, Konohanasakuyahime-no-mikoto, was enshrined there. The Edo period "Suruga Province New Topography" states that the enshrined deities are the Eighth and Eighteenth Asama no Mikoto, and that the shrine came to be called "Kome no Miya" (Rice Shrine) because the combination of "eight" and "eighteen" forms the character for rice. An ancient document from the Kansei era also states that the grounds were 44,000 square meters in size, making it third in size after Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha and the five shrines below Fujishita. Even today, despite being located in the city, the shrine has a vast grounds of 12,000 square meters, including the main hall and worship hall. In addition to the main hall, dance hall, and shrine office, the Fukuju-gu and Tenmangu shrine halls are located on the east side. Numerous cherry trees are planted within the grounds and adjacent Yonenomiya Park in honor of the enshrined deity, making it a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in spring when the blossoms are in full bloom. The cherry blossoms can be enjoyed not only during the day but also at night, and on weekends the shrine is bustling with worshippers and families. The majestic Mount Fuji towering behind the vibrant vermilion torii gate and main hall is a breathtaking sight, making this a popular shrine for its spectacular views. There is even a platform for taking photos, so many visitors come specifically to view the majestic Mount Fuji. However, However, there are days when Mount Fuji cannot be seen due to weather conditions. On those days, you can enjoy a special Mount Fuji stamp on your goshuin (temple seal). The shrine offers a wide range of benefits, including prayers for safe childbirth, finding a good partner, good fortune, protection from evil, and academic success. Many worshippers come here, both local and from outside the prefecture. Shichi-Go-San pilgrimages and various prayer services are also popular here, and the shrine has long been beloved by locals. Yonenomiya Sengen Shrine has a long history, and has grown alongside the blessings of Mount Fuji. Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant
Surugaji is a roadside station that offers surprising quality and quantity in its restaurant. Visitors can enjoy chewy zaru soba, crispy tempura, and flavorful Suruga ramen. The seafood bowl is fast, cheap, and delicious with generous portions. The store provides good customer service and a clean environment. The large serving of the seafood bowl comes at an affordable price. With window seats overlooking the Fuji River and Mt. Fuji on clear days, the scenery is breathtaking.

(Translated by Google) When going to Mt. Fuji on the Tomei Expressway, always use the Fujikawa Service Area. You can use both the roadside station and expressway stores here, so it's very useful. I often eat at this panoramic restaurant. I often have sakura shrimp kakiage and raw whitebait as separate items with seafood bowls or sushi, but I think it's better than the typical meal at a roadside station or highway facility. Above all, the view is very good, so you can eat in a good mood. (Translated by Google) When I was on a trip, I visited this restaurant because I wanted to have a meal with a view of the Fuji River, but I was directed to a seat in the middle of the aisle away from the windows. There was an empty seat by the window, so when I asked to move there, I was disappointed when I was told, ``We kindly ask you not to move your seat.'' I was looking at the empty seat by the window in front of me, but I felt very uneasy about not being able to move there. I ordered a sakura shrimp and whitebait pizza and a rice bowl with two types of tuna. The pizza was small, probably because it was frozen, and it was cold from the time it was served, and the cheese had hardened, making it not as delicious as any pizza I've ever had. The situation was even worse when it came to the two kinds of tuna bowl, which was not as juicy as the menu photo, and the meat was hard and dry. It's obvious they just put frozen food on top. Since it's a restaurant in a service area, I didn't have high expectations, but I think there's a limit to how much it's aimed at tourists. I chose the more expensive food court over the cheaper food court, hoping for a view, but I couldn't enjoy the food or the view, and I deeply regret it. When you go to a restaurant like this, you realize how delicious the restaurants you usually eat are. I would like to be careful when choosing a restaurant when going to a tourist spot, as it will put a damper on the fun of the trip.

(Translated by Google) I entered Fujisan Food Court Terrace by mistake, and when I entered Fujisan Rakuza, there was an escalator so I ended up getting on it, and when I arrived there was Surugaji, so I thought it was here. I wanted to try the raw whitebait and raw cherry shrimp bowl on page 42 of "Rurubu Drive Tokai Best Course", but I can't find it anywhere on the menu, so it's strange. Although I thought so, I assumed that the menu had changed, so I ordered the rice bowl and nigiri sushi shown in the photo. If the food was delicious, it would have been fine if I made the mistake of entering the restaurant, but when I came out, the fish in the rice bowl and the nigiri sushi were lackluster, or rather, they had not been cooked right away, so they had a lot of pre-cooked feel to them (if I'm wrong, please feel free to comment and the restaurant staff). The rice for the nigiri sushi felt like it was made with a stamp and a pre-prepared topping was put on top of it, and the fish on the bowl didn't have any energy at all. I was looking forward to the last lunch of this trip, so I was wondering what it was like to leave the restaurant, take the elevator down to the first floor, and when I got out, I came in front of a very busy restaurant and wondered what the place was. When I thought about it, it turned out to be the Mt. Fuji Food Court Terrace that I had originally intended to go to, and I was disappointed to see a picture of a raw cherry shrimp bowl with raw whitebait displayed in front of the store! Even though it was my mistake, I was disappointed. At least there's a decent storefront at the top of the escalator, so it looks kind of dry, doesn't it? I wish I could do without that dish. The atmosphere of the store and the staff's response were normal. If you are taking a bus, the nearest bus stop is Iwamotoyama Koen Iriguchi, but please note that the buses are infrequent. Free parking is available at the park. The interior of the restaurant is a calm space with natural wood as its main theme, and in addition to table seats, there is also terrace seating with a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji. Especially in the morning and evening, the color of the sky changes, creating a fantastic landscape. We recommend visiting on clear winter days, as you can see Mt. Fuji even more clearly. Also, in spring, you can enjoy a cafe time while looking at the plums and cherry blossoms in full bloom. The autumn foliage season is also beautiful, and the atmosphere of the cafe matches the seasonal nature.

(Translated by Google) ① [Overview] As of April 2025, Bronco Billy Fuji Honichiba is a popular steakhouse among locals. Its "Lunch with Salad Bar" is particularly popular for its excellent value. The set includes a hot rice and a drink bar, creating a great atmosphere for families and those looking for a hearty meal. For first-time visitors, the "Charcoal-Grilled Premium Ribeye Steak + Bronco Set" comes with a salad bar, a pleasant surprise! For details, see the restaurant's appearance at limited-time events such as the "Komi Komi Festival." ② [Location and Access] 425-1 Honichiba, Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Easily accessible, approximately a 14-20 minute walk (1.1-1.0 km) from Fuji Station. By car, drive 180 meters west from the "General Government Office" intersection on Prefectural Route 396. The spacious parking lot with 52 spaces is ideal for families. Please note that the restaurant tends to get crowded on weekends and in the evenings (especially Saturday and Sunday nights), so it's best to arrive early. ③ [Facilities and Services] The restaurant has over 100 seats (106 seats), making it spacious. It's non-smoking, accepts credit cards and QR codes, and even has baby chairs. The interior has a casual American steakhouse feel, making it perfect for families and friends. Their signature dishes are charcoal-grilled steaks and 100% beef hamburgers. The salad bar offers a wide selection, and the dessert section is a great way to enjoy a full meal. Weekday lunches are relatively quiet, making them a great time to visit. On the other hand, weekends can get quite busy, so it's recommended to arrive early. ④ [Highlights and Attractions] • A unique experience: Enjoy a luxurious set of tender charcoal-grilled meat, rice cooked in a large pot, and a salad, drink, and dessert bar. A satisfying experience for both your heart and stomach! • Popularity Points: Numerous rave reviews, including "The salad bar is amazing" and "The meat is so tender, there's nothing to complain about!" • Recommended Time: Weekdays between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM (right after lunch starts) are relatively quiet. On weekends, when it tends to get crowded, it's best to aim for right after opening. • Tip: It's customary to enjoy a salad or dessert from the salad bar before your big main course (lol). They even pour the sauces piping hot right at your table, making it a heart-stopping experience. • Perfect Souvenir: The salad bar offers seasonal fruits and coffee jelly, so taking some home after lunch would be a welcome treat!

Ramen restaurant
Yamaokaya Fuji is a highly recommended ramen spot for those craving a richer pork bone broth. The restaurant is known for its accommodating service, allowing customizations like separate plating and offering additional services through their app. Conveniently located along National Route 1 with ample parking, it also caters to truck drivers with facilities such as showers and operates 24/7. The aroma of pork bones greets you upon entry, setting the stage for a flavorful dining experience.
Very tasty ramen located near to Fuji Sideroad. You can walk there, it will take you maybe 10 min walking from the sideroad. During the night it was busy and looks like a lot of japanese people prefer it. You order by the bending machine and then you will be call to sit. We realized that many ramen restaurants outside big cities will let you choose your preferences about thickness broth, amount of ingredients, meat fat, etc... this one was delicious and we love the thicker broth super yummy. Let yourself try the tsukemen noodles (cold noodles separate from the ramen broth)...you will not regret!

This is a 24 hour ramen bar. You order at the ticket machine. It was very busy so we had to wait about 15 minutes for an available seat. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The ramen was very large for the price. A medium ramen was about 800 YEN but it was very big in portion size. The only negative feedback I have is that the roof and air condition was full of black mold. It doesn’t make you feel like it’s good to eat there when there is so much black mold in the air condition vent above you while you eat.

We ordered ramen, gyoza and chahan. The food was good but the dine-in area needs more ventilation. There was some strange smell that was annoying.

(Translated by Google) Although it is a family-owned chain restaurant, the popular menu is not soy sauce but miso. The miso green onion ramen has a good balance between the saltiness of the miso and the depth of flavor, and the crispness of the green onion has a nice texture. Premium salted tonkotsu is not as chewy as it looks and is easy to eat even for women. You won't regret it if you go to Yamaoka-ya, which is consistently popular with everyone, rather than going for a self-professed specialty ramen that is expensive and has a vague taste.

(Translated by Google) I visited on a weekday evening. It seemed like a popular restaurant, so it was crowded, but the restaurant was spacious, so we were able to sit down without waiting. And the large parking lot was also a blessing! I ordered miso char siu (¥980 including tax) and gyoza (¥370 including tax). You can choose the fat content, noodle firmness, and flavor of your ramen. I wanted something punchier, so I ordered extra fat. It was busy, so it took about 20 minutes for my order to arrive. My companion ordered soy sauce char siu ramen, but they only served regular ramen with one piece of char siu. 💦 Ehhhhh! (;´Д`) They seemed to notice the mistake right away, and the char siu arrived on a separate plate. lol Despite the mishap, the ramen was just as pictured. The char siu was delicious!♫ The punchy, rich flavor left me feeling satisfied. The seaweed is particularly noteworthy!! The seaweed on ramen is often disappointing, but this one is genuinely high-quality! ️ However, the amount of noodles was a bit lacking. 💦 Next time I'll order a medium portion. 😏 Also, it's a matter of personal preference, but I found soy sauce to be more delicious than miso. The gyoza were pretty average. They were neither good nor bad. Thanks for the meal.

Okuni Jinja is a charming Shinto shrine located in the town of Mori, Shizuoka prefecture. Despite its small size, the shrine is surrounded by breathtaking forests that create a tranquil and picturesque atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy free tea tastings at some nearby shops. The area is particularly famous for Japanese tea. The shrine is especially stunning during autumn when the maple trees display vibrant colors, making it a popular destination during Fall foliage season.
Must visit place. Okuni Jinja is a beautiful Japanese temple, perfect for a peaceful visit. In December, it becomes especially magical with its vibrant autumn leaves, creating a stunning and serene atmosphere. The blend of nature and tradition here is truly captivating. A must-visit spot for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility!

This temple is lovely, especially in the fall. It has an incredible dining area with a wide variety of dishes and desserts. You can't miss the caramelized apple, which you won't be able to decide which flavor to try, the noodles, and of course the delicious sweet mochi dango. A beautiful river runs past the temple entrance, perfect for taking photos and even having a picnic. There's plenty of parking, and the location is easy to access. It gets a bit crowded on weekends, so you may have to wait a while to find a parking spot.

If you find yourself in Shizuoka prefecture, I highly recommend adding this beautiful destination to your itinerary. While the place may not be very big, it is surrounded by stunning forests that create a picturesque and serene atmosphere. What's more, this area is famous for its Japanese tea, so be sure to take advantage of the free tea tastings that are available at some of the shops located at the entrance. Sipping on some delicious tea while taking in the natural beauty that surrounds you is a truly unforgettable experience.

Not sure how much of this place is 'Gan Park'. This area is a lot of huge open space with blocks of fields that would each normally be its own park. (Translated by Google) Visited on April 27, 2025 ① There is a parking lot for those coming by car. It is behind the Fuji Legal Affairs Bureau, but it is difficult to find because the area around the parking lot is one-way. The number of cars that can be parked is small, around 10. It is closed in the early morning and at night. ② About a 15-minute walk from Gakunan Railway Jatco-mae Station. It is generally accessible by a single road (with a sidewalk). It is not widely known that visitors can visit from here. ③ You can visit the interior of the 0-type Shinkansen (21-59, discontinued during the JNR era) only on weekends and holidays from 10:00 to 15:00. Admission is free. Shoes are strictly prohibited inside the car. There are about 15 seats remaining. There is also a model train operation. You can enter the driver's seat. However, it has become a children's playground, so it may be difficult for those who want to take their time to see the sights. The cars are in good condition. They are well maintained. ④ You can also operate a mini train throughout the park. Held during the day on the second Sunday of each month. Other equipment such as vehicle bogies are also on display. ⑤It's also a park, so there's a place for children to play. There are toilets (Japanese-style toilets). ⑥My overall impression is that it's a park with a lot to see, is easily accessible, and has benches, so it's a good place to spend some time relaxing in the afternoon on a nice day.

One of the better sushi joints I have eaten. Everything was fresh. Service was good. And the price was reasonable. My family of 8 had to split 2 tables and they gave us a table across the aisle by the same line so it's as though we sat next to each other separated by the aisle. Ordering was super easy. The opening hours (local saviour), interior setting (American? with Donkey Kong flavour), staff’s attitude, menu variety (mostly hamburgs), meals’ value quality, everything was good to us except an undertrained young staff who made a lot of re-asking, listening errors at ordering and mistakes at cashier. Well, he looked young, new and naïve, so, will get better soon. Rather, some over irritated customers waiting around him looked pretty scary.

Food was good, their menu has a lot of burger pattie type meals with rice e.g, there’s also salads, fries, Mac cheese, dessert and drinks etc. staff don’t speak English so you may need google translate if your order isn’t a simple ‘point to item’ type order :P Price is mid-range. People can smoke in the restaurant too. This was about a 15min walk from Fuji station

The bowl of ramen and gyoza I ate at this restaurant on Monday February 13 was the best I’ve ever eaten and I’ve lived in Japan for 30 years.

Hands down best ramen and service I’ve ever had!! Ice cold water by the pitcher, amazing gyoza that even my toddler ate and he never eats gyoza!! Great prices! Officially my favorite ramen spot in all of Japan and I’ve tried a lot of places all over the country !

(Translated by Google) I thought it would be busy so I ate dinner a little early ☝️ I managed to get a seat but the tables filled up in no time. There were some seats available at the counter. It was good that the service was quick considering how busy it was. I ordered a rich dish but it was easy to eat. The seasoned egg and gyoza were both delicious. You can get a separate plate of seaweed topping, so I had the thin noodles rolled up with it. The waiters in the dining area were cheerful and had lovely smiles and looked like they were having fun ✨ When the water (not a cup, but a bottle) at the table ran out, one waiter noticed and collected the container, and the other immediately brought it over, which is probably one of the best water exchanges in the prefecture 👀🤗 (Original)

Bodies of Water
Lake Tanuki, located in the northern part of Shizuoka Prefecture, is a man-made lake known for its stunning views of Mt. Fuji. The iconic volcano is reflected in the water, creating a popular photo spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike. The tree-lined lakeside offers vibrant colors throughout the seasons, with cherry blossoms in spring and beautiful autumn foliage. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, and hiking around the lake while taking in the picturesque scenery.
This is a good place for relaxation in nature. On a sunny day, it's a great spot to see Mt. Fuji. If you have the time, I recommend spending at least 2 hours here. So, you can leisurely stroll around the lake and maybe bring your own food for a picnic. Although renting a bike is available, I'm advised not doing so because The path is fairly narrow and is the same path that walkers use. Despite the large number of families and couples camping there, it doesn't feel overly crowded. If you don't have a car and have to travel by public transportation, you must carefully manage your schedule or you could waste hours waiting for the bus. Noted: I visited there in the early summer.

Fantastic views in this area, not least of Mount Fuji (apparently, you can see the "double diamond Fuji" phenomenon from here). Beautiful lake with a campground and, according to a sign, an onsen (I haven't tried it). An hour by bus from Fujinomiya Station and it's on the same bus route as the Shiraito Falls, so you could visit both places in a single day trip.

Nichirenshu Motoyama Jisso Temple, established in the late Heian period, holds great historical significance. Notable structures within the temple grounds include a grand mountain gate housing the Nioh statue, two bell towers, a shakado, a main hall featuring an idol of Nichiren, and an ancestral hall. It is also renowned for being where Nichiren Saint penned the influential work "Rissho Ankokuron" during the Kamakura period.
What an awesome climb and adventure. This shrine is stunning.

(Translated by Google) A large, historic temple with a sutra storehouse containing all the Buddhist scriptures. It seems that during the Kamakura period there were only two Buddhist sutra storehouses in Japan, and it was a very famous large temple as it was the only one in eastern Japan. This is also the place where Nichiren Shonin spent many months reading all the sutras in order to compose Rissho Ankoku Ron during the Kamakura period, and it is also where he met Nikko Shonin, who later became the Six Elders. be. I had read about this place in a book about Taisekiji Temple, but when I actually came there, I was very moved by the thought that all the scriptures had been read in such a dim place in the mountains. . The sage soon became convinced that of all the sutras, the Lotus Sutra was the only true sutra of Shakyamuni Buddha, and learned that the sutras were a convenient way to preach the Lotus Sutra, and based on this he completed the Rissho Ankoku theory. He preached the theory of Rissho and Ankoku by promoting the Lotus Sutra and unifying the disorder in the Buddhist world with the Lotus Sutra in order to overcome all national troubles, and submitted the theory of Rissho and Ankoku as a direct appeal to the Kamakura Shogunate, but instead caused misunderstandings and took advantage of it. The saint's life of hardship begins. “Heaven also spare those who pry, and in spite of all the troubles, I will spare my life.” However, the saint's strong feelings grew stronger each time he encountered difficulties, and eventually he gained many followers even as he moved from battle to Sado and Minobu. When I visited the temple with these thoughts in mind, I naturally felt a sense of sadness. I was also given a very honorable title, the first one since my death, and I was filled with gratitude.

(Translated by Google) This is the temple where Nichiren Shonin wrote Rissho Ankoku Ron. Although none of the collection of sutras that Nichiren Shonin kept and the sutras that he read still exist, it has been designated as the main temple as a sacred temple. The entire mountain was destroyed by fire during the invasion of the Takeda clan, and the current hall was rebuilt afterwards. The carving of the bow facing the main sutra was made by Ozawa (Ishida) Hanbei, who also sculpted the bow facing the worship hall of Mishima Taisha Shrine. Although it lacks the feel of a masterpiece, it is worth seeing because of its detailed and rich expressions. The nearest station is Katahori Station on the Minobu Line. Buses do not run at a practical frequency, so you should plan on walking for about 20 minutes each way. Along the Minobu Line, you can enjoy Hanbei's works at Kiyomasa Kodo Hall in Minobu and Naifuneji Temple in Naifune. Jissoji Temple is also the entrance to the Mt. Iwamoto hiking course, and there seem to be more people there than to visit the shrine. The shoin, archives, and main hall appear to be in active use as a temple, but the Soshi-do Hall, which you can see through the window, is empty. It's a shame because it's a quaint building, unlike the main hall, which is made of reinforced concrete. I am giving it a rating of 3 stars because it lacks vibrancy as a place for rituals and Hanbei Ozawa is probably a nobody to most people, but it is recommended for those who like shrine carvings. . Takesai Park, situated approximately a 15-minute walk from Hina Station on the Gakunan Train, boasts an enchanting ambiance inspired by "Kaguya Hime Densetsu." Though not expansive in size, this well-maintained park offers a delightful promenade and an abundance of bamboo groves that lend a captivating allure to the entire area. The serene surroundings provide solace for visitors seeking tranquility and respite.
This is called ”Taketori Park”. This is the place where it is said that the fairy tale ”Kaguya-hime” (The Bamboo Cutter and the Moon Princess) took place. You can see the entire park in about 15 minutes. There are a lot of bugs there in the summertime, so it's a good idea to bring some insect repellent. There is a parking lot, so it's all right to come by car. You will feel at peace in the quiet atmosphere of this beautiful park and its lovely bamboo grove.

(Translated by Google) There is a legend here in Fuji City about Princess Kaguya returning to Mt. Fuji, and there are many place names that tell us that this is the setting of the story. The story of the return to the moon, which is well-known in ``The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter,'' somehow reminds me of Chinese mythology, but the fairy tale of Mt. Fuji seems very Japanese (influenced by divine immortal thought). ). It is not clear when this local legend began to be passed down, but it may be one of the many prototypes of the bamboo cutter story. Taking this into account, Taketori Park is not a very large park, but there are Taketori Mound, a cultural property designated by the city, and Ascension Hill on Mikaesakazaka, which is a cultural property designated by the city within the park where bamboo grows. It is elaborated. I thought it would be nice to have panels that tell scenes from the story. In any case, what exactly was in the box that Princess Kaguya entrusted to the Kokushi and that he threw herself into the pond while holding it? Is it still the elixir of life?

This park is the setting for that legend. In Shizuoka's version of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, Princess Kaguya returns to Mount Fuji instead of back to the moon, but Mount Fuji also appears at the end of the commonly-reported version of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, so it seems that regardless of where the legend takes place, Princess Kaguya and Mount Fuji are inextricably linked. This is a nice park next to a Buddhist temple that offers a nice slice of nature. There's bathrooms in front, and a small playground for kids. The main attractions are probably going to be the observation deck which is labelled at the top to let you know what's in each direction. And the Buddhist temple itself looks amazing. In front of the temple is a lot of open space, great place for a short walk to take a breather.

(Translated by Google) This park offers a panoramic view of the area around Tagonoura Port. Its distinctive, long, narrow hill features a stupa and observation deck. There are stairs halfway up the stupa, but there's nothing special about climbing them. The steps to the observation deck are only about 5cm high, so you can go there nonstop without getting tired. I was surprised at how easy it was just a low step! There's parking for five cars. Depending on the time of day, there are always a few cars parked. During lunch hours, work vehicles and other construction vehicles are often on break. I highly recommend the observation deck. It's always empty, so having it all to yourself feels great. I personally don't like heights, so I only stay there for about three minutes at a time. 😅 But for those who don't mind, I recommend it. ✨ Side note: Follow the path east, following the observation deck → stupa → to exit the park. I'm not sure where I ended up, but there was a pile of stone from a demolished graveyard. If you get scared, make a U-turn right away.

Western restaurant
Sawayaka Fuji Takaoka shop is a must-visit spot in Shizuoka, known for its meaty offerings and classic family restaurant style. The Genkotsu hamburger, a hefty 250g patty, is a popular choice among locals and tourists alike. The hamburg steak + ribeye combo and the white bait porridge dish are highly recommended for their delicious flavors. This restaurant attracts crowds even on weekdays due to its reputation for serving the best beef patties.
This place just never fails. Differs from the shops around Gotenba as the waiting time is significantly lower (80-90 minutes in a weekend’s peak hour). I came in during my slot and the service was perfect and quick. The food deserves no comment, as usual.

250grams Sawayaka Burger (onion sauce) The meat is great and the pepper taste is just right for the onion sauce. Really enjoyed this!

We had the hamburg steak + ribeye combo, and a white bait porridge dish (not sure what it is called). They were both really good. The porridge had a refined subtle tastiness while the hamburg was done perfectly on a hot plate.

The best beef patty I ever had! Locals crowds this restaurant even during the weekdays. If you do happen to be driving as a tourist, make some time up drop by and try it.

It’s the custom when you are in Shizuoka.its so meaty. Row inside ! You can have two sources too. I always order Genkotsu hamburger which is 250g but it’s a bit big for me. Gonna try smaller size next time. Good classic family restaurant style with good hamburger.

Udon noodle restaurant
Marugame Seimen Fuji is a quintessential udon shop that captures the essence of Japanese dining with its unique self-service style. With over 1000 locations across Japan, it operates like a bustling canteen where patrons grab trays and help themselves to an array of tempura while skilled staff prepare fresh udon right before their eyes. The experience is both engaging and satisfying, as you can customize your meal to your liking.
The place is quite cozy and warm for chilly days. But really hot during hot days.

Perfect for chill nights with the family. A little bit far if you're biking but definitely worth the extra effort. Affordable and filling meals every time.

Great noodles. Kick arse
Darryl V — Google review
(Translated by Google) I arrived at the store at 12:40. It took 20 minutes to line up, but the more crowded the udon, the fresher the udon, so you won't have to worry about waiting 🤭 As I started to enjoy the udon, I noticed that the shrimp in my wife's shrimp tempura was raw. My wife said it was okay, but when I gave it to a female staff member in the dishwashing room, she took it all in and threw it away. After a while, the female staff member came and without apologizing, she handed me the cash and said she would refund the money. I was a bit disheartened and quickly finished my delicious lunch and returned home feeling very disappointed. I don't want to go for a while. Since I love Marugame, I hope for an immediate improvement. (Translated by Google) I went there for the first time in a few years, but I will never go back. ① The price is high. ② The soup is worse than before. ③ The noodles are soggy. ④ The staff are so unfriendly that you can feel their awkwardness. ① Mentaiko Kamatama Large 800 yen Vegetable tempura 190 yen Isn't that a bit expensive for udon? I honestly thought. ② The soup is darker than before and doesn't have much dashi flavor, it has a strong soy sauce taste and is just salty. ③ The noodles are extremely sticky. The person boiling them seems to be a beginner and can't keep to the boiling time. He accidentally took them out of the pot and put them in cold water, and when he pointed out his mistake, he put them back in the pot. It's seriously unbelievable. He didn't even look at the noodles being boiled and left them completely unattended. Because of that, the noodles floated up and gathered in the corners, and the top part wasn't submerged in hot water (lol) It was so funny (lol) I wanted to go home thinking that they would serve this. I'll post a picture of that time, even though it's hard to see. The noodles floated up and stayed that way (lol). Is this the right way to boil udon? Shouldn't they be submerged? Won't the top and bottom noodles have different hardness? Or are the top noodles boiled? (lol) ④ It's a workplace with the worst human relationships, so everyone seems to be in a bad mood. It makes me feel bad too. They act like they only care about themselves. When I ordered rice, I shouted to the person in charge of rice, "Please give me rice," but the person didn't reply, and I started to worry, thinking, "Does he understand me? The rice is coming, right?" (lol) Pippi? Deep-fried udon. It was my first time eating it, but it was as oily as it looked (lol) (Original)

Tonkatsu restaurant
Katsu Masa Fujioka Main Store is a renowned tonkatsu restaurant located in Shizuoka Prefecture, with branches in Fuji, Fujinomiya, and Numazu. The main store offers delicious pork cutlets that are said to be even better than those found in restaurants. The meat is tender and the fried cutlet has a slightly pink and soft texture. The batter is crispy and comes off the meat easily.
Delicious breaded pork, it's a quite pricey, but for special occasions it is worth the while.

(Translated by Google) This is a tonkatsu restaurant that has been around for quite some time. There are also menus that use branded meat, and you can choose the weight for single loin/fillet menus. Before the food is served, shredded cabbage and pickled vegetables are served. (Depending on the menu, cabbage is also included in the dish.) The cutlet comes with mustard soy sauce and grated wasabi instead of ground sesame seeds. (Of course there is a source) There was a pop of salt on each slice, and when I tried it, it was definitely less greasy and delicious. Many people seem to like that they get free refills for cabbage, pickles, miso soup, and rice. (Translated by Google) Gusto Fujikashima branch is a family restaurant that is loved by locals. In particular, the breakfast menu is extensive, and the morning set, which comes with a drink bar, is said to be an excellent value for money. For example, one visitor commented, ``It's my first morning set, and it has enough food and comes with a drink, which is great for poor people...'' Location and access The store is located at 2-2 Kashima-cho, Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, about a 10-minute walk (about 744 meters) from JR Fuji Station. It will be easier to find if you go north from the station and aim for the Kashimacho intersection. Access by car is also convenient as there is a parking lot available. However, it is expected to be crowded during lunch time on weekends, so we recommend that you visit with plenty of time to spare. Facilities and services The interior of the restaurant is spacious and has 122 seats, and is bright and clean. Although there are no private rooms, there is plenty of space between tables so you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed manner. The menu is rich in variety, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, and the fried ``karayoshi'' (deep-fried chicken) is especially popular. The price range is reasonable, making it ideal for families and friends. Weekday afternoons are relatively empty, so this is a recommended time for those who want to relax. Highlights/Attractions The appeal of Gusto Fujikashima branch is its rich menu and cozy space. The breakfast menu in particular is a great value as it comes with a drink bar. We also have a full dessert menu, so you can enjoy sweets after your meal. When you visit, be sure to check out the seasonal menu as well. As a souvenir, we recommend the original dressing sold in the store, so you can enjoy the taste of Gusto at home. I don't usually go to family restaurants because my family members are elderly, but it was late, so I visited for the first time in several years. Ordering was done with a tablet and the food was served by a robot. Considering the current labor shortage, it would be better to introduce technology in restaurants that have difficulty adding high value. The food was delicious. It's a great place to be when there are few restaurants open. Actually, before coming here, I went to Yamaokaya, but it was crowded with young people, with about 15 people in line. I knew that Yamaokaya was a dynamic company, but it was the first time I'd seen such a long line before entering the restaurant. My family was tired, so I just wanted something simple, so we went to Gusto. Gusto was about 50% full. I imagined that it would have been the opposite level of crowded 20 years ago. I guess it's the state of affairs in 2025.
