Pros:
• Friendly Staff: The staff were a highlight, always greeting us with smiles and warmth. Some even spoke English.
• Clean Hotel: The property was clean
• Good Maid Service: Our room was consistently refreshed with fresh towels and a thorough cleaning daily, which made the stay more comfortable.
Cons:
• Amenities Issues: The zip line, a big draw for families, was broken during our entire stay—disappointing for the kids. Also, finding hair in the pool was off-putting and raised hygiene concerns.
• Food and Drink Challenges: The food options were limited, especially for specific diets. There were no vegan dishes available, and getting non-dairy milk at breakfast was a struggle—staff even refused to share a banana from a visible container! Breakfast had plenty of Mexican food, which was great for some but repetitive for others. Lunch starting at 1 PM felt late, especially for families with hungry kids.
• Language Barrier: Most activities and announcements catered to Spanish speakers, which made it tricky for non-Spanish-speaking guests to feel fully included.
• Kids Club Shortcomings: The kids club didn’t provide any drinks, not even water, which is concerning for a family-oriented resort. Also, kids’ shows starting at 9 PM were way too late for younger children.
• Facility Issues: The hot water in our room was brown, which was unsettling, we couldn’t use our hot tub because the water grossed us out.. In the dining room, rain leaked in, and the power flickered, disrupting meals. The WiFi was unreliable, making it hard to stay connected or access resort info.
• Poor Communication and Resources: The website was misleading, with outdated or inaccurate details about amenities and services. There’s no app or map for the resort, and the QR codes for menus or info didn’t work. Random restaurant closures happened without notice, leaving us scrambling for dinner plans. We also weren’t informed about needing towel cards for the beach until I asked at the front desk.
• Limited Drink Service: Drink service at the pool and beach was nearly nonexistent and painfully slow when available, which is a letdown for an all-inclusive.
• Other Annoyances: The music was excessively loud in most areas, making relaxation difficult. The concierge pushed timeshare presentations hard, which felt intrusive. The kids’ passport program, advertised as a fun activity, is apparently no longer offered. Also, I woke up with mysterious bug bites—possibly from the room or outdoor areas.
Overall, Seadust Cancun has potential with its clean facilities and friendly staff, but the operational issues, lack of dietary accommodations, and poor communication made it a mixed bag.
