The dancers were professionals and the performance was amazing. It was a wonderful tribute to Mexican culture. For dinner m, we ordered the calamari, grouper, and lion fish and the food was superb. That’s why I was so upset with the changed of prior plans for our anniversary because I knew it would be something special. But it even exceeded my previous expectations. The restaurant garden area is so cute and was the perfect spot for our gathering. The service by Camila and her staff was phenomenal, no one ever waited for drinks. The food was amazing, we had the guac, calamari and the charcuterie for apps and they were all so good, especially the calamari. If you’re going to order an app, get the calamari!! So fresh, and huge rings. For dinner my guests either had the catch of the day (sea bass) or baby ribs. I tried both and they were delicious but I would personally go back daily to eat their ribs, melt off the bone and delicious sauce. For dessert we had the artisanal ice cream that was soo good. The prices were so affordable especially for the quality. My guests raved about the food for days after!! It was heavy on the cream and lacked any Parmesan or garlic, making it a glutenous and heavy meal. My calamari ring appetizer was delicious as far as the qualityof the squid and it's preparation. I got 5, yes, 5 rings. They were large ones but still, cost wise, unacceptable. I asked for a scampi butter garlic sauce which apparently cannot be properly crated. I received melted butter with slices of garlic in it. That is NOT a scampi sauce. So for a total of 420 pesos (1 appetizer and 1 entree) no drink or dessert, I felt cheated and bloated. Certainly not worth a return visit despite Anfels old school chivalry. Adios.

I unfortunately failed to check the operating hours but the owner was gracious enough to open up early for us and made a meal for our family at his choosing. All I have to say is wow, food was fantastic! We left so satisfied. The service was exceptional, what a great guy. We also ordered smoothies from his business partner and they were so delicious and filling. Both guys are super down to earth and create such a welcoming atmosphere. I hope to go back. I did read the reviews before going which helped to monitor my expectations. I am happy to say my room was absolutely beautiful. It was clean and the view was great. The food was good, we dined at all restaurants on the resort. To previous reviewers credit it is possible to order the same thing twice and it come out different. Also it’s true per my experience that the portions can be a little small especially at breakfast. The Marley coffee is amazing! The food at the Italian restaurant was one of my favorites. The beach is beautiful and I love the boutique style of the hotel, it was refreshing to not walk a mile or 2 just to get to things on the resort, I loved that! The little town down the street is really cute and yes I felt safe and enjoyed the walk. I do wish they had more of a gift shop, I would have loved to buy a Marley T shirt and take home some of that coffee. I would return and I would recommend.

The pool and the restaurant area is very nice. You can eat on the terrace or inside. On the terrace you have a beautiful view of the ocean. Honestly, I was expecting worst but they almost got it down pat. The staff was not used to the large black group I was with they were hovering with helicopter upselling and meta micro management, but they are professional fun staff the hookah staff are amazing quick, very professional and very talented staff if you give them the opportunity to serve they will go out of their way to accommodate your needs nearly anything for their guests they went the extra mile and the taxis outside will take you to the airport no problem, admittedly did not leave the area aside from that as the taxis linger and stay there trading information all the time and much better to have concise dealings with them, near perfect I haven't even seen all of the spa and rooftop in action either so this just my perspective.

This place is incredible. Peninsula sets the standard for what Mexican cuisine, especially seafood, should be. We have traveled in Mexico City, Oaxaca, Merida, and many other places and this restaurant was one of my favorite spots we have been. We started with some mezcalitas on their 2 for 1 deal and they know how to make a very good drink. The black ceviche was delicious and the esquites were fantastic as well. I LOVED the tuna tostadas. As I told Max, his food is not only beautiful but also delicious. It’s what a culinary experience should be. We loved this restaurant so much we came back the next night for live music on the rooftop. It was a chill, laid back vibe with a guitarist playing and it is exactly the atmosphere I love for the perfect evening with drinks and food. We tried some flavored mezcalitas and the Caribbean ceviche that had mango - again, some of the most amazing seafood I’ve had in Puerto Morelos, and most of Mexico too. Huuuge portion too for the price. I unfortunately do not remember the name of the server who took care of us on the rooftop that evening but he was so exceptional and really went above and beyond. I would recommend Peninsula to anyone looking for an upscale but relaxed atmosphere with the best food in Puerto Morelos. We waited an hour for our food. My pancakes were definitely microwaved and so was my partner’s burger. Everything was pretty bland. The place is pretty cute with nice atmosphere so we didn’t mind waiting so long, but then the food was barely so-so. Served us chips but no salsa. Additionally, they serve breakfast all day, which includes juice. But the server (and menu) failed to mention that juice is only included until 11am. Haha, what? So I was charged an additional 40p for my juice on top of 120p for two pancakes and a little cup of fruit. I appreciate the use of glass straws and I wish the food was better because the cafe itself is very nice. Mostly giving two stars because of atmosphere, I wouldn’t come here again.

I decided to splurge on an outrageously expensive meal as a pre birthday gift to myself (2 weeks from today). I had been craving lamb shank and it was on the menu at 650 pesos. At today's exchange rate about $40 US. I might have spent that much on a meal in the US but that would have included an appetizer, beverage, dessert and the usual complimentary bread on the table. The food was ok but they don't give anything complimentary, not even water. I got a beautiful looking dish with a tiny lamb shank (was it a fetus), a small amount of garlic mashed potatoes that were runny and seemed to be made from instant potato powder with no garlic flavor and the vegetable side was 4 diagonally sliced pieces of carrot and two small bulbs of sauteed onions. And I nearly chocked on the bit of parsley that lodged in my upper palate. The portions were what I would expect for a child's plate and at that price, I was apalled by the stinginess of the product. My friend and I were weekly visitors here, this was our third visit though it was on the pricier side overall. I am vexed by the mentality that seems to be prevalent with regards to foreigners in Mexico. It seems the locals think we are rich and therefore can either charge us more or in this case give us less. I expected better from an establishment that is owned by an American with a chef who had experience in the US. Even if I was a billionaire, I would feel cheated. I left hungry and poorer and will never return. They lost our future business. It's no wonder each time we were there that there were no other customers. I can't imagine the locals can afford to eat there. Good luck with that.

I had to say something though so I only addressed the gravy but said nothing about the biscuits and he was again accommodating to add the necessary flour to make it thicker and it was a bit better but it could have been thicker still. Lastly, and I'm sure you're tired of this rant by now, the sausage flavor was delightful though a little less black pepper would have made it perfect and it was on the dry side (overcooked) and therefore a bit chewy rather than juicy.
