After hearing positive things about this restaurant I thought I’d take my sister for a nice Sunday roast dinner. I cannot fault the waitress staff they were lovely and done their job great! The food… we both had the roast beef, firstly it was cold but often meat on roast dinner isn’t piping hot usually use the gravy to heat it up, fine, until the gravy was cold too…. However we carried on… I couldn’t even cut the beef with the knife, it was stringy and was like chewing bubble gum. So we did not carry on with the beef. 90% of the dinner was cold, however had nice flavours, roast potato’s, stuffing Yorkshire pudding and veg was all nice but again COLD, at best the potato’s were Luke warm. My sister had the macaroni cheese which was hot - but bland. I didn’t send the food back because I’m not one to complain. I did however give the manager some feedback, and expressed I was not happy to be paying for the beef especially. He refunded my drinks, still not satisfactory really. We left feeling very disappointed and still hungry.. we will not return in the future. Such a shame because the setting is beautiful such a lovely country style feel pub. Maybe if we had chose a different meat our review may have had a different outcome.

So glad we did. The food was amazing in every way. The portions were generous and all the food was perfectly cooked. Whilst the food was great I have to also comment on the excellent staff for making us feel so welcome in the current times, it’s hard to be a great host with so many rules but they pulled it off brilliantly. We ordered the tomahawk steak to share with garlic mushrooms and chips as sides. We had the béarnaise, garlic butter and blue cheese sauces with a house red bottle (boca a boca). The waiter who picked this up spent time checking with my waiter as to what was ordered before raising the replacement. I believe sauces prepped fresh and this took the majority of my eating time to give me a replacement after a lot of chasing. Manager eventually brought over and dropped on table in a rush. I had mostly finished my meal so no sauce for most of meal. When we asked a waiter for the bill he acknowledged but didn't bring it so we had to wait a long time and chased our waiter who then brought it promptly. We ordered the sirloin steak, flat iron chicken, and the sticky toffee pudding (additionally my friend was also brought a birthday plate with a taster cake which was also delicious. There was four of us in total . 1.15pm to 3.15pm. On arrival we told the staff we were celebrating my friends 21st birthday . Food was amazing my lamb was cooked perfectly it was juicy and tenders the portions were generous especially the gravy. It was incredibly filling and amazing value for money. We also got the chocolate fondant which was incredible, indulgent and satisfying. My others friend said her sticky toffee pudding was amazing as well. Since the new manager took over, the entire place has had a breath of fresh air breathed into it, and it shows in every detail. It had indepth and significant tastes with very satisfying portion sizes, I cannot fault the quality of food whatsoever. Maybe they just had an off day as the service however was rather disappointing. Even to have a pint arrive we were waiting upwards of 15 minutes. We booked a Superior Balcony Room for one night. Check-in was very friendly and quick, and we were walked to our room by the receptionist. The room was lovely, but we did discover an issue with the electronic lock — it wouldn’t lock when we went to leave. We reported it to reception, and someone came to have a look at it quite quickly. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to resolve the issue, so we were moved to a Deluxe Room. The hotel is beautiful, and the old house is lovely to have a look around. There’s also a beautiful lounge where guests can relax. We had dinner in the Park Brasserie, which was wonderful. The roast beef was perfectly cooked, and everything on the plate was excellent — it was also a generous portion. There’s a wonderful dessert trolley to tempt you after a hearty main course. Breakfast the next morning was equally good. It was served in the same restaurant, with a good selection of both hot and cold options available. A really wonderful night staying here and we plan to come back as it was such a lovely hotel.

But the view in person was even better! The rooms are wonderful and romantic, the staff is more than heartwarming and did everything they could to make our stay wonderful. The food was delicious, the pizza was cooked to perfection, the little honey sausages on the side were lush! My mum had her red wine while I had a cheeky cocktail. Very reasonable on price! The level of service was so high and it felt really personal. One of is coeliac and their care and attention to our needs made us feel like we have another new 'safe' restaurant we can eat at. We were served drinks at the bar by Adam and food was brought to us by Tina, who was so attentive and friendly. Both staff members went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We paid just over £10 per person with drinks. Would definitely go again. Added bonus is it's dog friendly and there is even a doggie station where u can get water, blankets and treats for your pets. There is also a book corner for children and a water fountain with fish. Highly recommend.

However, there was a problem with the gas so there wasn’t any draught Coke available so we had to have bottled. After waiting nearly and hour, two of us had garlic mushrooms on ciabatta for starters. They were both cold. These were returned to the kitchen but the same ones came out and the mushrooms had just been reheated. They were not re cooked. This was disappointing. The mains were hot and very tasty. The desserts were also fine. The whole meal took over 2 1/2 hours and it was the middle of the afternoon. Upon arrival we were met by two very friendly staff, Sally and chef Marc . We were shown to our seats and was admiring the atmosphere and warm decorations of the pub. I will definitely have this again!The sticky toffee pudding was of generous portions and delicious and we were able to share. The food lacked seasoning, and the greens arrived undressed. We had to move tables twice as they hadn’t been properly cleaned. We did a bed, breakfast and dinner credit deal from Secret Escapes and had a great time here. When we walked into the dining room, the chap was not very welcoming at all. A really strange attitude, by which I mean he looked at us like he was shocked to see someone come in. Not very friendly. The other staff were okay. Breakfast was fine, except my partner's food wasn't really hot enough and the promised vegan sausages and baked beans never appeared - strange because other folks seemed to be having extras they'd ordered brought out. So, would we go again? Probably not. We've been to the Talbooth House & Spa before, which was lovely. Milsoms felt very much the poor relation, which is a shame because we were very much looking forward to our visit.

I used to dine fairly regularly pre-Covid when I used to travel frequently on business to Essex. Firstly I was astounded that after a 5 year absence there has been no update on the decoration and the place looks very shabby and dirty. Secondly the food service is abysmal, staff more interested in making idle chatter rather than serving customers. Finally the food is very poor and certainly not worth the £75 I had to pay for two meals. We made a 120 mile round trip to revisit Milsoms, alas we will not be returning anytime soon.

It was a bit of a shame the air con appeared either not to work or it wasn’t on at lunch time despite the heat wave outside. So while the restaurant wasn’t crowded at lunch time it was a bit stuffy during the meal due to the heat. Services was good and quick, as we had pre-ordered as it was a big group of us can only comment on the “set menu” for large groups. There was less of a variety than I imaged for the restaurant but understand with a big group they have to keep it short and sweet. Most of us were content with our meal and the kids enjoyed their slider burgers. So before putting a verdict on the food I will have to go back and try the full menu :)

At first glance the outside looked nice, but as we went to get a chair we saw they were actually rotting we went to another table, the wood was peeling and there was green algae on the chair, we walked to a booth but the seating had partially collapsed, we eventually sat in the one spot that looked "ok" only to see coffee stains on the table, then looked up to see cracks and spliters in the wood with rust lanterns hanging down. To be honest, the outside area was an absolute shambles. It really should not have been open to the public in such a state. It needs an awful lot of landscaping work, cleaning and brand new furniture. On a positive, the food was very good, the service was OK (albeit a little slow) and overall we would go back.... I just really hope the management can put some money towards improving the neglected outdoor area, especially when the sun is out and people will want to use that space.

The setting was stunning with the newly cut lawns and a beutiful river flowing past the venue. On arriving at the restaurant we were greeted by a lovely young lady. Which we did not expect from a fine dining restaurant... As regards the oyster when we asked if the oysters were sourced locally he did not know but thought they might come from Merseyside.. Which surprised us all as there is a famous oyster farm locally in maldon. As regards to the lemon sole I not sure what to say. Moveing on to the deserts. Well this is a completely different story. And I feel another chef was involved as the quality. Standard and taste were amazing the mille-feuille was out of this world with amazing flavours the sorbet really packed a punch and was enjoyed. The chocolate cheese cake. Was most probably the best cheese cake I had tasted in years full of flavour stunning. And finally the poached apple rice pudding.. An absolute delight. Refreshing and tasty... As regards to the amenities at the restaurant were clean and well presented including the the disabled toilet.... To sum up... An absolute stunning location. Well presented... But for the price I feel a bit more thought shoukd go into the main dishes. Pehaps giveing pay customers the option on how there meat dishes are cooked. Ie. Rare. Medium. Well done.. And Pehaps the presentation of the lemon sole should be rethought..... This is not a cheep venue woukd I say it value for money. Unfortunately at this moment in time I woukd not say it's value for the money.. But the surrounding areas are stunning and very relaxing...
