Well I guess we were a little disappointed to find there were no pastries left and it was a lunch menu only. Needless to say our lunch was still excellent. The quality of ingredients and presentation was sublime. Our waiter was fantastic and they accommodated our fussy three-year old with her request of spaghetti and tomato sauce. I loved the atmosphere in here, nice chilled not too loud music, and surprisingly comfortable. I thought it was reasonably priced for the quality of food too. They had Covid stickers from years ago on the wall and the chairs were tired and tatty. There was no music playing and the atmosphere was just flat but I know never to judge a book by its cover. There was a sign that said ‘no ball games’ but we couldn’t see it from where we were sitting. Just went straight up to the children and told them off. 4 year old was hysterical and sobbing at being approached inappropriately by total stranger. Had he approached us and politely pointed out the sign we would have of course put the ball away. We were totally dumbfounded by his rude and inappropriate behaviour and having spoken to the other customers in the garden at the time, he seems fairly renowned for his grumpiness and moods! We went for New Year's Eve, when many other local pubs were closed. No entrance fee and the drinks were the usual price, not hiked up like other pubs we've been to for NYE. They even put on a free buffet! A fabulous little pub, let down by the fact there's only one ladies loo. Returned in February for a drink with friends. Great atmosphere, even without the celebratory new year and live music. The resident dog is a sweetheart who greets patrons enthusiastically in the hope they will play a very specific game with him. One thing I will definitely praise them for, and it's the first pub I see this in, is that there were free nappies available in the baby changing. I didn't need them, but it's great for those who may; very thoughtful and quite honestly impressive that management has thought of this. Having said that, bear in mind that the baby changing facilities were in the disabled toilet (no issue there), but that toilet itself was blocked and flooded the floor. So while you could use the baby changing table, it wasn't in the most pleasant ambiance (in the photos attached you can clearly see where the bathroom floor is wet). Also, confusingly, the sign on the door said out of order, although that related only to the toilet itself and not the baby changing facilities. On another subject, the interiors are far more pleasant than the exterior sitting settings, so much more of an evening pub than a lunchtime one (we were there for lunch on August Bank Holiday 2025). All in all, nothing special or memorable about this pub, so although we won't be returning our custom, it's not a pity that we did give it a go.

The staff here are amazing, friendly and very attentive. We were shown to our room a short walk from the pub and it was not a disappointment, it was like a suite. To say we were very impressed would be an understatement. We popped back for a couple of drinks before dinner in the restaurant and was pleasantly suprised that thwy serve Hawkstone larger and cider, which I must say went down very well. The service in the restaurant was superb and we were made to feel very welcome and the food was very nice. Highly recommend the Scotch egg, the Wild rabbit croquettes for starters and the Chicken and leek pie and the house steak are very nice. In the morning the selection of continental breakfasts and cooked breakfast are excellent. All in all we had a wonderful evening at the Cricketers and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Main drawcard was it offered a large gluten free menu. We had two different meals both were large and very tasty. The pub was very cosy, staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, well worth a visit if you are in the area. We found an absolute gem with The Plough. The service provided by Nathan was nothing short of amazing, fast and always with a smile. Food was average and the service was so very slow and none of them acted like they wanted to be there. Not one smile or laugh! We were a table of 10 and one little one. They forgot two lots of our fries were meant to have extras on them, one steak sauce forgot totally, my sons fish fingers were served so deep fried and overdone that no fish was left in them and what little fish was was dry and awful, the dessert was disappointing one singular piece of brownie for a brownie sundae and then they forgot our two coffees and said they'd be sent somewhere else??? Not sure where they somewhere was!! For paying over £500 for the entire bill and to receive mediocre food and disappointing service is a shame. We unfortunately won't be returning.

Everything from start finish was amazing. My fish and chips was cooked to perfection, and the size of it! Chris was more than happy to cater for certain dietary requirements. They were friendly and accommodated us quickly. The menu was a great selection, and if it was so late, we would have had a few starters, as they looked amazing. They have a really lovely courtyard section and a good music selection on in the background. Taste-wise, it lacked flavour and bite; the pasta itself was limp, almost resembling egg chow mein noodles rather than authentic Italian spaghetti. To top it off, there were only four meatballs, which felt stingy for a main course. I ordered the Cajun chicken and chorizo pizza. The toppings were fine, but the dough was very poor – it felt like frozen dough, thin and soggy, with a watery tomato sauce that caused the toppings to slide straight off. We visited for a family lunch on a Saturday and it felt like we were the only people there. The place is beautifully presented, the staff were friendly and the food was good, if not great. The menu is quite simple, with good traditional English pub choices and is not expensive. We sat inside and had the choice between the bar area or the ‘snug’ (dining area) and we’d have been comfortable in either. There is also a beautiful terrace outside. We really enjoyed our visit and couldn’t understand why there were so few other customers. I would highly recommend the Fox & Hounds. We will be back for sure.

Everything was reàlly good and delivered nice and hot. Can't fault anything, even the guy on the phone was nice, repeated my order back to me and was very efficient and polite despite obviously being very busy.
