A real fun and yet pretty easy hike. The views along the trail of the surrounding red rocks were simply amazing. The highlight, of course, was the caves themselves. The trail itself had graduate changes in elevation, until the last 10 minute where some steep steps were required to reach the caves. We took the wrong fork where Soldier Pass Trail and Soldier Pass Cave Trail separated (see my last photo for clarification). It was a blast to check out the caves even for a senior citizen. By the way, the trail passes through the 7 sacred pools, but they were on the dry side. There were several Jeeps that came on to the trail, but only up to 7 Sacred Pools. After that, only hikers, no jeeps nor mountain bikers. Parking can be difficult and shuttles didn’t operate when we visited. I parked at the Jordan Road trailhead, but just beware it is very bumpy just before the parking lot so depending on your car you may need to park before it. I looped this trail and did half on soldier pass and came back on bryn mesa. Enioy and bring plenty of water as you will find none on the trail!

First, we tried to park at Soldier Pass but the lot was full. We saw many people parking at Posse park and walking to the trailhead. I’d say it’s about a mile. So we headed on to the Brins Mesa/Jim Thompson parking. Beware – the last 1/2 mile is a dirty/dusty road with many deep pot holes. The lot was almost full but luckily we squeezed in to one of the remaining spots. The Red Rock pass machine wasn’t working so you had to purchase a pass online with sketchy cell coverage. They don’t make it easy to be honest! There are pit toilets in the parking lot. We hiked the 6 mile loop and it took us 3 hours and 20 minutes. We started clockwise on the Cibola Trail, then Soldier Pass, then Brins Mesa back to the parking lot. We’re glad we did too because Brins Mesa is a pretty long climb up going the other way. Soldier Pass has some shade but most of Brins Mesa does not. The Soldier Pass trail is much busier. There are many loose rocks on the trail, and, at times, it appeared we were hiking in a dry creek bed. Despite hiking boots, our feet were a bit sore the next day. There are amazing views from both trails. Luckily, my camera didn’t poop out on me from taking so many pictures! We opted not to hike out to the caves but you can clearly see them at the top of the Soldier Pass trail. Tons of cactus and agave/century plants and places that look like maintained garden areas (they aren’t though). We loved the hike and appreciated the diverse landscape on the trails. There is something mystical about this place, and we got that Zen feeling for sure!

I’d recommend arriving early. The lower parking fills up and is very small. The hike from the here is easy and there are handrails to help you reach the top. If you park at the gravel lot, you can walk a moderate trail to the mesa, which can be found at the front right side of the lot, if you are facing out towards the city. We had to take a shuttle from the park and ride which went smoothly. They don’t allow you to park there on the weekends and a shuttle is required. Bathrooms on site, not the best but they work, for when you arrive and after hiking. The trail is moderately challenging, with some spots difficult but manageable with patience. Pretty steady climb the entire hike but there were plenty of spots to stop and rest if needed and to take amazing photos. The top of the trail is absolutely amazing! To the right offers a fantastic picture opportunity! There is also some amazing spots to the left when you arrive. Well worth the hike and strongly recommended when in the area. I would suggest good hiking boots and bringing enough water for about a 1.2 mile hike with a 750 ft gain in elevation along the way to the top! There are a few different trails in this area, but I randomly chose this one. It was a great choice. Very scenic, and quiet (low foot traffic during a weekday). Well marked trail which crosses the jeep road several times. Trail leads to bottom of merry-go-round rock. If you continue on till you again cross the jeep road and then turn right onto the road, it will lead you back down to the upper side of merry-go-round. Great view from here looking down over cow pies. (This is where several jeep tours take you.) You can then take the jeep road on down until the next trail intersection & take the same trail path back to parking. Highly recommend.

Opted for a MUCH higher cost "cottage" (#1). Check in is not until 4 and checkout is at 11 with no exceptions or accomodations. We had a fantastic view of the table celebrating on the patio from the restaurant literally 10 feet from our "private" patio. No privacy, lots of noise and ruckus being SO close to the main building. No dining was available on premise as they had no availability. Overall the creek is beautiful anywhere you go at any resort. The property is BEAUTIFUL. The rest was "okay". Definitely not worth the amount charged. No fires or lights outside for ambience. The one amazing takeaway was the outdoor shower. The only saving grace to an otherwise mediocre and lack luster experience.

The SPA was top notch. Front desk was not so great. This is Oct 19 weekend and the hotel appears to be much less than full. For the duration of our stay, room wasn't serviced until late afternoon anyways. We also waited ~50min for a shuttle pick up, three calls to the front desk and each time were told between 5-15 minutes away, we were 5minutes drive away from the hotel, even with traffic. Finally 40min to serve breakfast and not once did the waiter come by, and finally when we went to find him, his response 'sorry kitchen backed up, I can cancel your order if you want (we did get a 25% discount). It seemed like some staff were 'less than experienced'. Hotel itself is located at a great spot and rooms we stayed out were renovated. Have to say there were staff who were great, but not consistent and in line with expectation for a luxury hotel.

If you drive to the trail head - it's about a half mile unpaved with only one remotely bad spot - once past here then noooo worries..! There are bathrooms at the trail head, too. If you start early and want to get to Soldier's Pass Cave ASAP - go clockwise from the trail head. I personally enjoyed the counter clockwise hike - I thought the vistas were better that way and the ascent that way seemed quicker than the descent into Soldier's Pass. Make sure you have a Red Rock Pass or display your annual National Parks Pass at the trailhead parking. There is a pay station if needed. AllTrails as always is recommended - I had phone service the entire hike so offline download may not be needed but probably a great idea regardless.

Very scenic with excellent panoramic views the further you hike in. Its an easy to moderate hike in my opinion. You're driving through a residential neighborhood to get to the dirt road that leads in. There are approx 6 overflow spots at the beginning of the drive in. Once you reach the trailhead parking there are a modest amount of spots. My first attempt was around 11am and there was zero parking available. I went back around 2pm and there was plenty of parking available at the trailhead. To note, the dirt road leading to the trailhead is a bit bumpy so if you don't have a high clearance vehicle just take it easy.

Danil was our tour guide, and he was so kind and knowledgeable, giving us bits and pieces of nature facts and Sedona history throughout our hike. The tour took about 3-3.5 hours total, which included a 2.5 hour hike that was the perfect balance of a relatively easy hike with some uphill pushes to get to our sunset spot, which was honestly breathtakingly beautiful- we didn’t want to leave!! I’m 24 weeks pregnant and this hike was perfect! The trail he took us on wasn’t crowded at all and we were the only people at the summit. It was so nice to enjoy this spot and soak it all in without the crowds- it felt like a local’s only type of spot. Once we were at the top, Danil gave us some hot tea, homemade cookies and chocolate to enjoy with our sunset. It was truly an incredible experience and we could definitely feel the energy in the vortex locations. This tour is perfect for anyone who doesn’t have much or really any experience with meditation or who wants to learn more about the vortexes. Danil guided us through the meditation at a few various locations, which was perfect. I HIGHLY recommend this tour- having it as a private tour was just so special and really made the value of the ticket cost worth it without a doubt. Danil was awesome and super easy to talk to throughout the trek. You won’t regret booking this!
