Architecturally brilliant. You don't get rhis character from the built environment any more anywhere. This is a beautiful space, so ecstatic that it has been retained in it's original style. The craftsmanship would have to be appreciated by most and surely will be a part of the walking tour that anyone visiting Vancouver must take in. If you love Art Deco, pop into this 1930s office building near the water. It’s open to the public to see the architecture inside. Most of the design is in the lobby and don’t sleep on going inside one of the elevators. There are a few shops in the basement. Restrooms are in the basement but they aren’t open to the public unless you ask a shop owner to let you in.

Hotel Europe is a six-story heritage building located at 43 Powell Street (at Alexander) in the Gastown area of Vancouver, British Columbia. The building was commissioned by hotelier Angelo Calori and built in 1908-1909 by Parr and Fee Architects. Situated on a triangular lot, the building is designed in the flatiron style. It was the first reinforced concrete structure to be built in Canada and the earliest fireproof hotel in Western Canada. Contractors had to be brought in from Cincinnati, Ohio for the necessary expertise; the Ferro-Concrete Construction Company began this project six years after constructing the first tall concrete building in the world. With funding from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the building was renovated in 1983 as affordable housing with A. Ingre and Associates as the project designers. The residential units are now managed by the Affordable Housing Society. A beer parlour formerly existed below the ground floor, which included areaways extending underneath the above sidewalks. To prevent a cave-in from the weight of pedestrians and above ground traffic, the City of Vancouver filled the areaway in with pea gravel at a cost of $215,000, which presumably can be easily removed in the event of future restoration. This hotel is on the reported list of places in Vancouver that are haunted 👻 . Hotel Europe was one of the filming locations for the suspense movie The Changeling. In it, the building houses the Seattle Historical Society, but the hotel sign can be seen on the right side facade of the building in some takes. Some scenes are set on its roof terrace. Hotel Europe was also a filming location in the 1994 epic drama film Legends of the Fall. It also appeared in the 1984 film The NeverEnding Story, as well as its 1990 sequel The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter. The exterior is also briefly shown in the 2007 family comedy film Are We Done Yet?, as Ice Cube carries out a cardboard standee of Magic Johnson. I participated in this year's Art Attack fundraiser, in which 20 or so artists created pieces that day to auction off for charity. It was a wonderful experience and among the finest venues I have ever shown my art in. The manager, Kirsten was professional, authentic and accomodating, working hard to make sure it was a successful event for both artists and the charity we were working to support (Coast Mental Health). Thanks to all these things, I would be willing to participate in next year's event and would recommend this venue to anyone.

I had more then a 'tour' of this building our family rented here for over a year while awaiting our house completion and I'd say to any owner...sell while the selling is good and to any renter RUN!!!!
The units are blistering hot in the summer (& ours had an air conditioner!!!) and freezing all winter. The noise from the city and construction is 7 days a week starting as early at 7 am each day. Jack hammers EVERY DAY the entire time were there and still going on. The construction is literally never ending. The layouts are terrible, the bathroom are way too small and uncomfortable, the kitchens are not made for cooking at all (ZERO Counter space) Our car was damaged with the "high tech" parking garage and not being able to access our vehicle many days due to maintenance!!!! When were were able to get our car we would be waiting for another person to get their vehicle. We just dreaded having to take our car out. The homeless population down here is awful, taking a walk often meant being yelled at our attacked by some homeless drug addict. There is obvious 'vacation' rentals and have people in and out of units on the floor we were on. Seriously worst, most uncomfortable rental ever!

每周五下午对所有家庭的第一次到访免费开放。每天都对18岁以下的所有人免费开放，并且不需要监护人陪同。目前3楼没有公开展示，所以可以看的东西比较有限，如果需要购票进入的话就不推荐了。
市中心的美术馆。建筑很有历史但馆内并没有常设展，只有不同的临时展览，质量参差不齐。
美术馆比较小，现在有莫奈和马蒂斯等名家的作品展
目前这个展期对于门票价格而言并不值当，Emily Carr的展览也只有一个小展厅。很失望。
有一些临展还不错，当然不能和美国的美术馆比较

As a Level 6 Google reviewer who has written hundreds of reviews and only given several bad ones, I am deeply disappointed to say that this is my first negative Airbnb review. My recent 5-night stay at this Airbnb condo had some initial appeal, but it was overshadowed by numerous issues and a complete lack of resolution from both the host and Airbnb support. The condo was modern and stylish, and its excellent location made exploring the area convenient.
However, the negatives made this stay deeply frustrating. The room temperatures were unbearable, consistently exceeding 30°C, with only a single portable AC unit in the living room. This forced all four of us to sleep there just to cope with the heat, which was far from comfortable. The fire alarm went off regularly between 8 AM and 9 AM, disrupting our mornings and causing unnecessary stress. A neighbor’s dog barked incessantly, adding to the noise issues. The bathroom door was broken, which was inconvenient and felt like a basic maintenance oversight. Additionally, there was no body wash or shower amenities provided, which is a standard expectation for an Airbnb stay.
We raised these concerns directly with the host, but no action was taken. The host promised to fix the bathroom door but never showed up or followed through. Notably, the owners could have at any time offered to stop by and investigate these issues but didn’t, leaving us to fend for ourselves. Frustrated, we even opened an urgent support ticket with Airbnb, but this also ended with no resolution, leaving us to deal with these issues for the entire stay.
Overall, while the condo’s modern design and prime location were promising, the lack of basic comforts, poor maintenance, and the complete failure of both the host and Airbnb support to address our concerns made this experience extremely disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this property unless significant improvements are made.

The Woodward’s building is an unexpected and interesting building. It is a landmark in the city and it is often referred to as the building with the big “W” on top of it. It was built as the headquarters for Westcoast Transmission Co. in 1969 and won the 1970–71 Design in Steel Award from the American Iron and Steel Institute. Entering Canada through Amtrak terminates at this beautiful historic train station. They don’t build structures like those anymore.
The currency office was never open and ATM never worked but the overall station is clean, efficient and ability to store your baggage for same day travel so you don’t have to lug it around on your last day, if your trainers in the evening.
You can grab a bite to eat, there’s a nice park and mass transit nearby.

We were in the Vancouver area and took a quick tour of the city and on the tour was a stop at Pacific Central Station.
I found the station to be very clean, with plenty of seating, and signage that is easy to read. The bathrooms are maintained, and there is even an A&W root beer shop in case you wanted to get a quick breakfast or lunch sandwich, or just get a drink.
I've attached some pictures and a short video to show the station off and what it looks like from the front. Most of the gates are towards the back.

Came here for the early morning Amtrak Cascades train #517 heading south towards Seattle, WA and Portland, OR. Station is clean, spacious, and organized. Arrived an hour prior to departure with boarding starting about 45 minutes before departure. There didn't seem many stores open that early, but I didn't walk around.
Personnel were nice and friendly. Going through customs was fast and easy. From time the boarding started, I was in my seat within 10 minutes. Was an easy and simple process boarding a train here.

This is a nice spacious and open building where you go through Canadian Customs if you arrive from the US. You can also exchange currency. Staff are polite and helpful. You can call for a cab on a wall phone near the front door; but the phone does not actually connect you with a cab company, but instead just gives you a recorded message with different ways for you to then contact the cab company on your own phone or online. I don’t know why that phone does not just connect you with a cab company directly.

The caveat here is that you are strictly forbidden from people watching in this centre, the security is most insistent that you are only in the building with purpose. It’s absolutely worth checking out whether you’re a local or just visiting.
The array of artifacts here are an incredible time warp throughout Vancouver’s history — long before it was ever “Vancouver”. The First Nations context, stories, and items on display were what I loved most.
Everyone working here is so wonderfully warm, and we felt right at home the moment we walked through the door!
Check for any events or workshops they may be hosting too. We were sad to miss the one they were running on Sunday when we visited!

This museum located at 1575 Alma street is the oldest surviving building in Vancouver, built 1868. Used to be the general store in the Hastings Mill on Dunlevy street and barged to its location on Alma street in the 1930's. Love this beautiful venue!!! I have been hosting events here for 8 years! First off it’s aesthetically beautiful, so many times I’ve seen people walk in and look up and around and say WOW! Though this is not directly related to Heritage Hall review - I experienced this on one of the events held there for the costume sale of some sort last Oct 18th. Lights were dim making it difficult to see clearly what you're getting. Here is my review from one of the participants/sellers: I bought a costume from Age of Aquarius at Heritage Hall last Saturday, and unfortunately, it turned out to be unusable. The vest was badly worn — stretched, flaking, and cracking, likely due to age and previous use. The jabot was missing, which was fine since I planned to replace it, but the condition of the vest made the whole costume impossible to use.
The lighting at Heritage Hall was quite dim, making it hard to notice the damage during purchase. We hosted our 96-person wedding at VRC in July and it was such a perfect venue! We wanted to find a place that showed off Vancouver, and VRC does just that - the front deck ceremony space is lovely, and the views from the wrap-around deck are hard to beat. I recently visited this spa, and while the space itself is clean and well-designed, the customer service left much to be desired.
I went two days ago and encountered an issue with the hot water. The spa could have contacted guests beforehand to reschedule or at least informed us upon arrival, but that didn’t happen. Instead, everyone in the changing room was left trying to figure out why the showers were freezing. It was disappointing that no staff member addressed the issue or offered any solutions.

The spa experience itself was fabulous. Very relaxing atmosphere and tentative staff. The only downfall was the results of the nails. I got a mani and pedicure. $80 or so for hands and $110-$130 for toes. In addition you have to pay an extra $80 for gel on both hands and feet. While the experience was lovely, the result of the nails was not very good. The polish is already starting to chip. Gel is meant to be strong and long lasting. After 2 days it was already breaking. Quite disappointing seeing as the fee was significantly higher than usual.

Had such a lovely time at Chi Spa! I made an appointment for a one-hour sangre de fruta massage very easily by emailing the spa. On the day of, I arrived an hour early to my appointment and was able to access their other amenities like the outdoor pool, hot tub and fitness centre. Really enjoyed the hot tub pre-treatment - it was cool being in the heart of downtown while getting some rest and relaxation. About ten minutes before my massage time, I got ready and was served some amazing ginger tea before being led to the massage room.

The room was again very relaxing and well equipped with its own washroom, shower, robe, etc. The sangre de fruta products were so great and the oil and body butter used made my skin so soft! A good friend of mine is in the military (he told me his rank once, but I totally forgot and he's probably advanced since then) and his wife, another good friend, is expecting, so their baby shower was in the mess, which is a super fitting name for a place where you eat. I lived here for almost 2 years. It was clean and very good staff. But not the superintendent who maintained the building. I replaced their shower old shower head because the water isn’t flowing enough and the direction goes to the wall. And I attached bidet and when im about to leave I asked many times for help to remove it and im willing to pay for extra time but no one helped. And when they did the inspection they removed the shower head and bidet and just throw it without even trying to inform me if I don’t need it anymore. So, I don’t know what is their problem for that. I live here now and the last two reviews obviously had issues with staff. It's simple, it is a 2 year contract, they make that very clear when you sign, it's not up to them to find housing for people, though they do offer help if asked to get on BC housing or non profit organizations.
They will absolutely not put anybody on the street, they will find some sort of a roof!
That being said if you use any substance they can by contract give options, one being get a clean urine test in a few days, come back and then go to treatment, they will hold your room. Or contract, refusal to do so or fail you have 14 days to get your belongings.
And finally the staff here are professional and in my opinion very patient. I'm guessing people that have a problem with staff got caught doing something against the contract and got butt hurt.
Simply, give respect and get respect back.

But the two managers of grace mansion are two very horrible people that should not be working with vulnerable humans with mental health and addictions I'm currently trying to reach out to the salvation army to talk about how I was treated by the managers. My outreach worker witnessed this first hand and was shocked. Before moving in make sure you know about privacy act and rent and relapse. The place itself is great the supports workers are awesome. Stay away and clear of the managers not good people they will rip you apart with a smile on their face because they find it amusing when someone is struggling with a relapse and on the street hungry. They might lie on your urine screening as well.

We had a wonderful experience working with the team at JHA to renovate our multi-generational home into our very own modern dream house after our parents decided to downsize and pass on their house to us. Joy and Kathy worked tirelessly with our budget in mind to brighten our home, modernize the floor plans, and design a functional living space with plenty of storage space. They helped us select gorgeous yet cost-effective and highly durable materials, which we are confident will hold up to wear and tear from our toddler but still look good enough to be published in design magazines. The firm of John Henshaw Architect was very professional. I hired them to design and build my new house based on their previous projects in the neighborhood and on their website. They handled my project from beginning to end and worked well with the contractor that they introduced me to. The design was what I had asked for and when there were any changes that needed to be made, they accommodated my requests.
