Our original reservation was for 8:00 PM, but even though they were very busy, they kindly accommodated my request to come earlier at 7:00 PM, That alone set the tone for a wonderful evening before I even arrived. I ordered an special koobideh but it was 2/3 of the regular size. Usually special shouldn't be shrank in size they should just call it SMALL instead which then you know what to expect. Zeitoom koobideh was one of the reasons that I preferred their food over other Persian restaurants juicy and tender .but it seems the old chef is no longer there as their koobideh is so dry now . I noticed the rice wasn't looking fresh as you see in the pictures that the saffron is mixed with rice which is not what normally restaurant do they would just garnish it on top of the rice . The LOOBIA POLO is basmati rice, cooked green beans, tomato sauce, and diced fillet. The taste is a little bit sour. I think it’s because of its tomato sauce. All the food were tasted great. We also ordered DOOGH$2.95. Persian people’ Traditional yogurt and mint drink, prepared in house. The prices are affordable while the amount is more than you'd expect. We had Chicken and beef shawarma and both were great. Chicken was the better of the two though. Their menu offers a healthy take on Lebanese food, but it doesn't have the plain vibe that you may associate with "health food restaurant" - instead, you will notice that everything on the menu is made with pure, balanced, no-nonsense ingredients. The service model is fast-casual where you order hot food or choose from a selection of ready-to-eat items at the counter, and staff brings food to your table in a timely manner. Today, the food was anything but good. Ordered a lamb biriyani and beef nihari. The beef came out cold, I bit into the meat and it was cold. Because of that, it felt like they microwaved the dish, and didn’t heat it up long enough to serve. So, when we found ourselves in the Mt. Pleasant area of Vancouver, we decided to try grabbing some donairs from a place that we’ve never been to before… Mitra Canteen. As with most donair shops, there wasn’t too many donair options… so we picked one each of the Chicken Donair Wrap and the Beef and Lamb Donair Wrap ($10 each). I thought it was a bit odd that you couldn’t pick just “beef” or just “lamb” and that it came as “beef and lamb”. Each donair comes with hummus, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, tabouli and your choice of tzatziki or tahini sauce. We also ordered some Veggie Samosas ($1.50 each) – I know, I know… seems a bit of an odd mix with donairs. So, the samosas were large and came with a thick but limp shell that encased the potato chunks. The flavour of the veggie filling was okay but I was a bit turned off at how soft the exterior of the samosas were. It was a little bit better after we heated it up in the oven a bit but it still never crisped up enough. I found the donairs to be very loosely wrapped and messy to eat. One of donairs had the wrapper wrapped within the wrap so so we had to try to carefully pull that out so we didn’t bite into it. The tzatziki came served on the side – wish it would have been put inside the wrap but that probably would have taken more effort. I also didn’t really taste the tabouli in the wrap and the meat didn’t taste well seasoned. Overall, I was disappointed with the food here and thought they needed to put in a bit more effort.

Got the falafel platter - the falafels were the perfect consistency and came with some super delish sauce, the hummus was creamier than most I've tried, and the rice (which was a mix of brown and white rice) was pillowy soft, and the salad tasted fresh (unlike many places where it's kinda limp :( ) For $12, this was a true steal :) I was perusing the menu and for meat-eaters, the shawarma plate and lamb shank look utterly delicious :) Will be back for a good cheat meal and more grub ;) Also, props to the lady out front who manned the cashier AND cooked the food. I have always enjoyed their relatively bigger size Donair wraps with lots of tasty toppings options. Very affordable and excellent quality which is amazing. I can say the best bang for the bucks for a healthy tasty lunch or an early dinner. Homemade souses were good. I highly recommend Donair lovers to try this place at least once. I guess like me you never forget the great taste and come back for more. Haha The place has limited seats and good for a quick meal but they get web orders for delivery too.
