Once this time has come to the end i thought we could have stayed but just paid for the rest of the drinks we ordered afterwards but it wasn't the case. The Naughty Badger is hidden away up a staircase which leads to a small room, seating probably about 20 or so customers. At Badger, Eggs Benedict is two poached eggs atop a slice of sourdough, bacon and a paprika (I think) seasoning. The eggs were perfectly poached and rather large, with golden runny yolks. The hollandaise wasn't overwhelming, with a lemony/citrus tang to it. Three rashers of salty bacon, cooked with a crispy rind and a soft centre. My only criticism was that of the sourdough, it was thickly cut which made eating it a pain, literally. Thankfully it was only thicker on one end. Sourdough is rapidly falling off my favourite bread list with Eggs Benedict as the crust is often really hard when toasted which kind of fumbles the experience and doesn't go with how smooth the food should be. At Badger though, the bread itself was soft and lightly toasted, perfectly tearing apart as you cut into it. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at The Naughty Badger. the music wasn't for me, gave me uni vibes circa 2012 (which put it to 4 for atmosphere). But my partner loved it and vibed along. I'd definitely be looking to return should I be in Chester again. This place is well worth your time and money.

Food was good! Location was lovely. However, the service was absolutely terrible considering it was a group paying over £300. We ordered Afternoon Tea which was supposed to come with free refillable hot drinks, however not once did anybody come over to see if we wanted extra refreshments, we had to go up and chase, we had already been there 30/40 minutes at this point. Again with standard drinks, we had to go up, then eventually someone would come over and ask us. Additionally, there was not enough cutlery or plates, despite booking the table with the amount of people attending in advance. This is really disappointing as the restaurant was not busy, and there was more than enough staff by the looks of it. We were just left. This is not what I would expect from this type of establishment. Staff did not greet us on arrival, and I feel they were quite hostile, again, for this type of establishment, this is not what you would expect. We were also overcharged as the menu stated £25pp, instead we were charged over £26pp. We also paid a service charge of around £30 which I did not realise at the time otherwise, I would’ve requested for this to be removed as the service was awful. After paying over £300 for mediocre food and appalling service, we could’ve gone to Grosvenor Pulford for similar, but incredible service! I never leave reviews however, this has truly been one of the worst experiences that not just me, but the whole group experienced. Unfortunately, due to the service we will not be coming back again.

This place is nothing more than a tacky lap dancing bar, to suggest it is "high end" is laughable! When ordering food we were told that the menu was a "social dinning" menu, such that food would come when it was ready, which was what we had expected. To make matters worse, the only functioning toilet in the place was the single disabled facility downstairs, near our table, which was frequented by large groups of men for long periods of time, suggesting extensive drug taking...to which the staff were either unaware or uninterested. When we spoke to the DM he said he would see if he could get the kitchen reopened, but, perhaps intentionally, he didn't return for 40 minutes by which time we were not prepared to wait any longer, particularly given that we had watched the kitchen staff closing down and cleaning up the kitchens. We were not going to eat food prepared by a disgruntled employee at such a late hour. There is nothing "high end" about this place. It is simply dreadful, in all respects; service, menu, item availability, standard of facilities and ambiance. Having eaten in a great many "high end" venues across the country over many years, this place falls woefully short....in fact it is positively awful. I would say the food is overpriced unless you get a voucher. However, they don't give you the wine that they advertise on the menu. The food however was on par with such budget restaurants as Wagamama, this is not a negative as they both provide a high quality of food, the negative is the service in the restaurant, for triple the price of Wagamama I was expecting exceptional service. After waiting at the table for 10 minutes, the waitress came over and took drinks orders, then 20 minutes later the wrong drinks turned up. Food arrived promptly, however with no salt and pepper on the table, again we had to get up and request this, again more time past until this arrived. Found the lady dealing with us on the desk to be completely unsympathetic and unhelpful. Definitely won’t be trying to book here again and won’t be recommending to anyone. The kiosk is packed full of yummy stuff and there are benches outside for better weather. The 2 ladies were so friendly and welcoming.
