My biggest disappointment was their drinks. My husband’s birthday was last night so we were there for his birthday. We were a group of 18 so the 18% gratuity was automatically put on each bill. He ordered an old fashioned from the drink menu and the waitress asked us which whiskey he wanted in it. What she DID NOT tell us was that they charge $22 USD per drink just to add the Makers Mark whiskey (which isn’t top shelf at all). So the price for the old fashioned was already on the menu at $18 so that’s what we thought we were ordering. It’s definitely a place I won’t return to when we come back. All we ordered was a Mojito, 2 Old Fashioned, the seafood platter (which didn’t come with any sides and requires you to add a minimum of 4 proteins which they charged different prices for each), we had to add sides so we got the plantains and coconut rice and beans. Bill was $215.98 USD. So it’s definitely a one and done for me. Won’t ever go back. 3 stars on the food because it was t worth the price, 1 star on service because of the drinks and not disclosing that we would be charged an extra $44 to add the whisky and 5 stars for the atmosphere.

Hours later after ridiculously good massages at their spa, we went back for dinner. We got three of the five vegan labeled options: Thai peanut sauce veggie salad rolls, a broccoli apple ginger sesame salad, and the Zucchini coconut pasta. All were fresh and delicious and we both felt thankful for the emphasis on good clean vegetables expertly prepared and seasoned. It is very refreshing that they not only have vegan options, but that they seem to have put care into crafting them. The staff at Ramon’s have all been amazing as well from the Hol Chan snorkel trip we did to the servers at the restaurant and coffee/wine/beer/smoothie window to the front desk and the spa as well.
