I travel to a lot of Brewers Fayres and am a constant premier inn visiter due to work, however, I very rarely feel compelled to leave a review, but tonight was something special. I was seated as usual and told my table number to order at the bar, already previewing the menu in the hotel room I knew what I was hoping to be included in my meal deal, I hopped straight up to the bar to order with Kelly, who took my drink order first and started making it before I even got on to food. We had a lovely chitchat and I gained an insight into her history before these 3 years of service she had done at this establishment. The conversation was so smooth and authentic I could tell it wasn't rehearsed and she genuinley enjoys human interaction. Once I had ordered my meal, she reassured me that there was no bill to pay, without asking, and it was all included in my meal deal. As I have just come back from holiday/ some unpaid leave and xmas is coming up, I really appreciated this. As is my usual routine, I resumed my seat, book in hand and wasn't disturbed until my starter arrived. Halfway through my starter, I was asked if the course was ok, still furiously captivated by the book, but the spring rolls were delicious (once they cooled enought to stop burning my tongue) and so I let them know. Shortly after the starter was taken, I noticed the sign on my table stating "have one on us" which was a promotion ending today to buy a pint and get one free, so I ventured up to the bar once again to Kelly and she guided me through the process seamlessly, providing one pint now, and another when I was ready for it. By the time I returned to my seat, my dinner was waiting, steaming hot! During my visit, I also entrapped Kaz into indepth coversations, which lead her to reveal her personal goings on and the origns of her name. Although she is weighted down by some heavy recent personal discoveries, she shines brighter than any other staff member in the hospitality service that I have ever met. If you get around to reading this, thank you so much for your moment of authenticity, if I lived closer we would be best friends whether you liked it or not lol. I devoured as much of the caramelised carrot Wellington meal as I could, only leaving a couple of potatoes because I was stuffed, and there was less gravy than I hoped for, and I took soo, long they went cold, however, the meal itself was divine. Dessert wasnt forced upon me, but encourage enthusiastically when I said I cant order desert, Kaz said "not yet" with a wink. All of the staff reassured me I didnt need to stay in the restaurant with my drink and I could take it up to my room, but after my meal, I didnt want to leave that atmosphere right away and I found a cozy corner in an arm chair, tucked in a corner far enough away from the patrons, but close enough to hear it all, with reading lights to finish another chapter before dragging myself up to the solitude I craved. Even in this nook of the bar, I witnessed the other ladies of the crew in their element with other patrons, being their authentic selves, unafraid to interact with all walks of life and backgrounds, everyone seems to be treated equally. I am sure there are interactions and thongs I witnessed during my 2 hour stay that I have left out, and I can imagine the weekend here will be heaving, so please be patient, give the girls and guys some leeway, they are beautiful people and should be treated as such. The last time we came in we noticed a Dog Menu. Our server that time was Wendy and she was very enthusiastic about being dog friendly and pointed us in the direction of the dog menu display at the end of the bar. The toilets are clean and fresh and there’s plenty of parking. All the food was lovely, generous portions and nice and hot. Drinks as always were great.
