The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant was very relaxing with soft instrumental music and knives elegantly displayed. The location is a bit obscure with its blacked-out windows and limited signage but once you're inside, you're immediately immersed in their unique atmosphere. I didn't know it was Michelin recommended until I got there but I could understand why it got the prestige recognition. The restaurant is limited to a maximum of 18 seats (and 1 sitting per night) and starts on time so make sure you're there early - first come, first serve but all seats are at the bar where the chef makes the sushi right in front of you. For our sitting, we got 13 pieces of nigiri, along with their signature miso soup; my favourite were the O-Toro and Uni's. If you're not full by the last piece, you can order additional pieces from their menu. There's also an extensive alcohol list (mainly sakes) but we opted for the premium sake experience (which required to be selected at the time of reservation). It was a terrible experience. Food has gone bad. While having dinner, I found that the food has gone bad. I took photos of the pieces spoiled and checked the smell as well, so I was complaining about that. However, they told me that it was not their fault, but my fault. Then, I really wonder how I can make food go bad? Not many fine dining Asian fusion places so naturally as a person who has tried a bunch of Michelin star restaurants and all the high end places of Vancouver I had to try out. The food was mostly pretty but the taste and coherence of the flavours was atrocious. 250$ meal was the worst i ever had unfortunately. First off oysters are oysters I guess, fresh and normal. Duck was super chewy but was good, you practically had to gnaw at it out go for a full bite. Octopus was super chewy overcooked. Papaya salad was strange… peanut sauce with papaya but no meat so was like having half a salad roll Tofu was petty awful, inch thick layer of xo sauce oil with some soft tofu and mushrooms, super greasy and just tasted salty Beef empanadas were not edible, wayyyyyyy too salty like they dropped a tea spoon of salt into a tiny 11$ empanada.
