Cultural landmark
Located on Larrakia Land overlooking Fannie Bay, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is a top attraction in Darwin. It features diverse collections including indigenous and rock art, fossils, natural sciences, and seafaring history. The museum offers engaging public programs such as creative workshops, artist talks, and guided tours of its acclaimed exhibitions.
Great! So much to see, I wish we'd allowed more time for the visit. But we did get round to see everything (just). The Cyclone Tracy display is very vivid and interesting, lots of footage and interviews from the time. The collections of marine animal, birds and insects were very well displayed, beautiful to look at. The contemporary Aboriginal art exhibition which was stunning.
Celeste H — Google review
Definately recommend visiting the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT. There is a lot to see here from the entomology displays, cyclone Tracey exhibit and the amazing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art. I would definately set aside more time than you expect to look at everything on display. We were lucky enough to visit during the Telstra NATSIA display. The artwork was so varied and captivating it was difficult to select a favourite to vote for.
Kylie — Google review
Great place to spend a couple of hours. Very Interesting exhibitions. Lots of history and culture here. Friendly staff. Only downside is that the bicycle parking was not shaded. Not wanting to return to a melted saddle i had to park it accross the road at the ski club.
Nyn K — Google review
What an amazing museum! So many exhibits to see and learn about. They have something for everyone including art, animals (sea, land, and air), local Darwin history, maritime history, and much more. Oh and it's also FREE?!?
JR B — Google review
MAGNT is a small but wonderfully curated museum — and best of all, completely free to enter (though small donations are appreciated). After our 5-day road trip from Alice Springs, it was a no-brainer stop upon arriving in Darwin. The exhibits were diverse and engaging, featuring a beautiful showcase of local fauna, Indigenous art, and a deeply moving section dedicated to Cyclone Tracy. Visiting on a Wednesday meant few crowds, making the experience calm, easy to navigate, and unhurried — a real plus. The well air-conditioned rooms offered a refreshing escape from the heat and humidity outside. Overall, MAGNT is a hidden gem that’s well worth a visit, especially given its accessible location and free entry. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Darwin.
Helen N — Google review
Amazing museum with lots of information about various things! It was free, just need to check in at the start, and air conditioned which is always lovely! Very cool and interesting exhibits
Alice — Google review
Very nice and interesting display of cultural art and fauna found in NT. Recommend spending half a day here. Allocated 2 hours initially, but I had to return the next day for extra 3 hours.

This Museum exceeded our expectations, especially as it’s free. Very interesting, lovely staff, also great cafe and a wonderful gift shop if you’re looking for a special aboriginal momento. Well worth visiting.

When visiting Darwin, a great place to start your journey is at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT), offering an insightful overview of the city's history and natural heritage. The museum features permanent exhibitions including a section on Cyclone Tracy in 1974, which had a profound impact on Darwin.
Very niece selections to choose from. I went to TIWI Island yesterday and looked at art there too. I did purchase a carved wood painted by the locals. Some of the artist have pieces here for sale. So if you can't jump on a small FLY TIWI Plane you should come here. Just the plane ticket and time I could have purchase 1 or 2 more items here. Well I learned and that's why I shearing with you.

What an amazing indigenous art gallery. The curator was so passionate about the art and artists. He was so willing to explain each paintings story and that of the artist. A beautifully presented space.
Carol E — Google review
Excellent range of indigenous artworks. This is the BEST gallery to visit in Darwin. The owner is friendly and welcoming and has a wonderful knowledge of the artists. I often feel concerned about the ethics associated with the sale and potential exploitation of indigenous artists but I completely trusted the Mason gallery. BTW.. we LOVE our painting and all the non-pushy, helpful service that led to its purchase. Thank you!
Michelle F — Google review
Wonderful, my fave gallery. Definitely worth a visit.

I was recently in Darwin for NAIDOC Week, and the friends my partner and I were staying with recommended we visit Mason Gallery. There are some lovely Aboriginal Art galleries in Darwin, but our visit to Mason Gallery was certainly a highlight. We ended up spending about an hour there, as Jeffrey very generously and respectfully introduced us to some of the pieces on show at the gallery. We learned a lot about the origins of the 'dots' from the desert, and the stunning pieces from Arnhem Land. We ended up purchasing some beautiful woven baskets from Numbulwar, and a lovely painting of saltwater turtles by Kenny Reid. We both highly recommend a visit to Mason Gallery.
Merryn M — Google review
Was much more a tourist souvenir shop rather than a real Gallery. Could not see a passion for selling from the owner. He just let people get in and go. Would much be better if the owner explains his collection and his stories around it.
B L — Google review
Fantastic pieces with photos and details of each indeginous artist. Prices for the art was on par with most places in Darwin which was quite dear. But I guess the galleries have to make their profits and cover costs.
Ryan M — Google review
Incredible gallery filled with a range of beautiful art and run by wonderful people. Geoffrey was very welcoming and more than happy to share his vast knowledge with us. The time he spent with us to ensure we found our perfect piece was greatly appreciated. Definitely recommend visiting this gallery to everyone and will certainly be back during our next visit to Darwin!

Outstation Gallery is a must-visit for art enthusiasts in Darwin. Specializing in Aboriginal art from various art centers across the Northern Territory, the gallery showcases an impressive collection of paintings, carvings, and weavings. Visitors can also explore artwork from the Tiwi Islands, featuring diverse creations by Territory artists including paintings, carvings, and glass pieces. Additionally, nearby galleries like NCCA Art and Nomad Art offer further opportunities to appreciate indigenous art.
Just FYI Google shows it in the wrong street. It is very close but on the Gregory St side of the building. Very good gallery. Current exhibition is great but Matt was very helpful providing us a great 101 into the local art scene and lots of tips on Darwin in general.
Mark M — Google review
The best Indigenous Art Gallery in Darwin, hands down. Beautiful pieces, knowledgeable team, wonderful stories. Well worth a visit.
Robin M — Google review
Very insightful owner. Could learn a lot of the art piece. How aboriginal people communicate with the outside world through art.
B L — Google review
This gallery is up a flight of stairs and although it is small, it packs a punch. I saw a current exhibition focusing on the works of Pennyrose Wiggins. The lady at the desk was helpful to let me know if I could take photos and to recommend other galleries to check out in Darwin. Highly recommended little gallery to check out if you are visiting Darwin.
Michelle G — Google review
Outstanding gallery of Indigenous art, with a high level of engagement dorectly with artists and community. Definitely a cut above, and long term invested in artists. Highly recommend. Matt and Amelia are super knowledgeable and helpful.

Parap Village Markets is a popular weekend market featuring a variety of vendors selling clothing, crafts, and food. The market offers an array of tropical fruits, Asian greens, and fresh produce from Filipino, Tamil, Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese growers. It's known for its bustling atmosphere with live music and food stalls offering diverse options such as Cambodian rice balls, laksa, donuts, lemonade, and satay squid.
It has been 11 years since I left Darwin, and the only food I was craving was market food, and Greek food. Parap Markets was one of my favourite places to visit on a Saturday morning. So many fond memories. This market has the most delicious authentic food. From the fresh juices, to the famous laksas and paw paw salads, there is something for everyone. I highly recommend visiting these markets.

TAKE CASH so that you can buy whatever you want :) Highly recommend- Mary’s laksa. One of the best laksa I had in Australia. Also, very affordable! Yes, the queue is long but it’s quick anyways. This market had a lot of Asian food stalls which I appreciate! :)
Kelly R — Google review
Parap Market is one of my favourites in Darwin. It’s open every Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm, all year round; but it’s especially lovely during the dry season. The weather in July is absolutely delicious; cool in the morning with clear skies, which makes it the perfect setting to enjoy a bowl of laksa or something fresh while walking around. There’s a great mix of stalls offering food from all over Southeast Asia, fresh produce, handmade goods, flowers, and local art. My absolute go to is the Popia; the spring rolls here are the best!! I also always get the Vietnamese pork skewers and paw paw salad—so yummy:) The smoothie and juice stalls are beautiful too; perfect for something cool and refreshing when it's starting to warm up. It does get busy, but parking is usually okay if you arrive early or don’t mind walking a little. Dogs aren’t allowed in the market area, which is a shame if you’re bringing your pup along—but good to know ahead of time. I don’t have many photos from my visits here; which says a lot because I usually take heaps—but I’m too busy living my best life eating all the food 😆 Highly recommend checking it out if you're in Darwin. I love it!
Happy D — Google review
《Parap Village Markets》 If you’re visiting Darwin, Northern Territory, make sure to save your Saturday morning for the Parap Village Markets — one of the city’s most beloved weekend destinations. Open only on Saturdays, this vibrant market bursts with life, offering everything from international street food and refreshing tropical drinks to unique handicrafts and local artworks that capture the creative spirit of the Top End. It’s the perfect place to wander, taste, and explore, whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or spending a relaxed weekend with family. The friendly atmosphere and mix of cultures truly reflect Darwin’s laid-back yet cosmopolitan charm. Among the many tempting food stalls, one that absolutely stands out is HUONG VET MARKET STALL. Their BBQ Pork Banh Mi is, without exaggeration, the best I’ve ever had — perfectly grilled pork, crisp baguette, and a balance of sweet, savory, and fresh flavors that’s simply unforgettable. If you ever find yourself in Darwin, don’t miss the chance to experience this lively market — a true local gem that captures the essence of the Northern Territory. 🌴🥢🥖

Bustling place on a Saturday morning. Tried a laksa from the Purple Ladies - absolutely delicious. And the pork belly straight off the grill was unbelievable - flavourful, juicy and so tender. Definitely worth a visit!
Tam — Google review
One of the best village markets I've ever been to. What it lacks in size, it makes up in quality. Nice fresh produce, hot food like laksa, satay, banh mi and more. I highly recommend the satay stall and purple lady laksa. There are also juice bars, flower stalls and crafts, as well as plenty of nice cafes nearby.

Nes S — Google review
Parap market is terrific for its diverse food stalls. Try the Laos salads, rice balls in a coconut sauce (my personal fave) or sweet pork on a stick. Lots of choices of things on a stick...all good 😋 Beautiful fresh cut flowers & many other stalls to browse. Oh & don't forget to grab an authentic Laksa from Mary's to take home. Fresh breads & pastries, sweet home made desserts..too much to mention. A must go when visiting the Top End 🤠

Amazing Art Gallery offering incredible Indigenous Artworks! The quality on display is breathtaking. Each piece is unique and genuine. Pricing is well within the range of time taken to produce these works of Art. Surprise and delight someone special with a piece of Traditional Australian Art. There are so many stories behind them. Staff were friendly and helpful and quite knowledgeable on the piece I purchased. I was impressed with the care taken to package my purchase. This will protect the Artwork as it is shipped to South Australia. I highly recommend you visit this Store and support and encourage Indigenous Australians to continue to provide genuine pieces of Art and share their stories.

Beautiful aboriginal art and other items. I got a backpack, some serving spoons and a gorgeous caftan. The staff were very helpful in opening the various bags of caftans to make sure I got the colours I wanted. A bit on the pricey side (saw some similar spoons for less at the airport), but overall very nice selection of a bit of everything!

Wonderful gallery.......💙💚💛🧡 I could not recommend this gallery any more highly. The staff are kind, attentive, friendly and professional. The items for sale are beautiful, perfect for gifts and keepsakes, unique and the prices are extremely reasonable. Definitely worth a visit when in Darwin.

Great store with lovely staff despite how busy it is. Large range of colours and artists Prices are dearer for the special pieces (but worth it if you love it!).

Darwin girl but I've spent the last 10 years on the east coast. Many year ago - pre-drama, pre-adulthood, pre-responsbility, I spent a hell of a lot of time in the Darwin Mall selling CDs (yes, I was cool before I was a lawyer) I have travelled all of the modern galleries of the world - and this one is stand out. A simple, airconditioned and friendly gallery in Smith Street Mall. Why? Well, simply this - uncomplicated and authentic works at a reasonable price that are interesting and make me feel - something - namely, happy and alive - the pieces are colourful, weird, unique. I love all of the pieces and homewares that they have here. It is one of the most important stops on an homeland trip for me. Make it a part of your list!!!!

Situated on the waterfront, the Darwin Entertainment Centre (DEC) is a prominent cultural hub in the Northern Territory. Since its establishment in 1995, it has welcomed renowned artists and offers a diverse range of entertainment options. From theater and dance to live music, comedy shows, and international film festivals, DEC's vibrant program caters to various interests.
We went for the 2024 Beat choir concert, and had an absolutely amazing time. Everything was awesome and what a great performance. The whole place was Easily accessible, we sat in the dress circle and had great view of the stage and comfortable seating. There are bars and food available and because it's located in the city centre loads of eating and accommodation options are available. Love the surroundings ponds and the walk through to the foreshore, so lovely and family friendly.
Brianna E — Google review
It is a nice and vibrant venue. There is a bar facility inside, too. The toilets are only on the ground floor even though there are seats on the upper floor, which is not convenient if you need to duck out during a show. Also, as you can see ony photo, I went to the toilet before the show began and found the bin overflowing with paper towels. That's not good.

I love coming here for shows and concerts, its intimate and not as hectic as the Darwin Convention Centre. It's perfect for short performances, and overal a great centre with awesome shows. There are far to many to count, but I have seen the bands Goanna and The Proclaimers here, I've seen a few comedy shows such as Jimmy Rees, Sooshi Mango, the 2023 Darwin Raw comedy festival, and the Sydney Comeday Festival a while back. Just too many events to remember. I have attached some videos of the mentioned performances. I will continue to add more as I watch more shows! Darwin Entertainment Centre is the perfect place to have a night out with friends and family.

This festival invites local, national, and international artists to contribute to the city's already impressive collection of street art. Aboriginal Bush Traders is a cafe located in the heart of Darwin, adjacent to a gallery and souvenir shop. The establishment offers a modern twist on traditional bush tucker, with dishes like roasted kangaroo seasoned with lemon myrtle, aniseed myrtle, pepperberry and wattleseed. The cafe operates as a 100% not-for-profit organization and is committed to ethically sourcing its food in ways that directly support Indigenous communities.
An amazing shop/gallery with lots of good options for cultural souvenirs and recipe or story books. We had to go back as the shop/gallery doesn’t open until 9am and the cafe opens at 7am but it was well worth going back a second time. Good coffee and loved seeing a menu that celebrates bush tukka!

Great cafe if you are in Darwin. Has some bush inspired eats, the little treat pictured was great with a hint of bush plum which provided a nice sourness to offset the marcipan. Would also recommend the roast veggie salad with bush spices.

purchased a umbrella as a gift and was surprised when I heard it broke 7mths later. When I went into the shop to enquire if the umbrella had a warranty the store assistant was surprised it broke and replaced it without any proof of purchase. Now that is great service. Thank you.

Best customer service in Darwin with great prices. Very helpful with beautiful products. Thank you for all your help.
Maraid S — Google review
I called in spontaneously having been aware of Paul's work over the decades that I've been passing through Darwin. Three things struck me: Firstly, I was delighted and inspired when he strode through the staff access door with his huge hat and equally huge grin. What struck me specifically was, for all his outer success and obvious promotion and impact on Darwin and the Territory's image nationally and internationally, that he was so present, unpretentious, modest and genuinely interested in discussing the work and relating the stories associated with each work... Secondly, when then going onto his internet site, the integrity and congruence between the man, his vocation and his authentic and articulate communication of his inspiration. Lastly...his assemblage of 'The Territory' Akubras (please correct me if I'm wrong) in the window. A soulfully rugged poetic and enduring symbol of a well-marketed yet gratefully real and talented Territory artisan. Moving now from the Crocodile Islands and Groote Eylandt to Tasmania there's a Paul Arnold work scheduled to be a part of my Tasmanian home to quintessentially capture the heart and spirit of the Territory. Congratulations Paul and thanks for the exquisite beauty you bring to the world not only through your art but who and how you are in the world.

During your visit to Darwin do not miss Paul Arnold's gallery in the Smith Street Mall. Paul's landscape images are simply fabulous. A walk through the gallery is a stroll through the Northern Territory. Every image evokes the strong colours and tropical views of the NT. One of Paul's magnificent photographs on your wall down south will forever be a talking point and a visual reminder of your tour of the Top End. I visited; you must.

The Darwin Military Museum offers a captivating multimedia experience called the Defence of Darwin Experience, which sheds light on the 1942 bombing raids. The museum primarily focuses on Australia's involvement in World War II, particularly emphasizing the Japanese bombing of Australia. Visitors can explore original uniforms, weaponry, and photographs from that era as well as learn about Australia's participation in various wars from the Boer War to modern times. The museum provides an immersive understanding of Darwin's history and its transformation over time.
Wow! You need to stop here and allow a few hours! There is an interactive room that locks up and plays a re-enactment of the day Darwin was bombed; there is an interactive table which allows you to listen to first count stories and there are so many areas & stories to read and explore! So much thought has gone into this museum and it is well looked after. Plenty of parking, toilets and a tiny Cafe and gift shop. Well done to Norm & the staff. Will be taking all out Southern Visitors to share this exceptional experience.

Quite good if your ok with self guided. There was a lot to look at and the information was good but you need a fair amount of time to read everything. The interactive screens are good and the show was informative but left out a lot of details, leaving you searching for more info. I thought I would have a better understanding of the history leaving the theatre, but then found it in pieces while walking around the property.

The Darwin Military Museum is a must-visit if you’re in Darwin! 🇦🇺✨ I found it fascinating because it really brings the city’s history to life, especially the events of 1942 during World War II. Walking through the museum, you get to see an impressive collection of army trucks 🚛, uniforms 🎖️, and historic weapons 🔫. The displays are well set out and give you a real sense of what Darwin went through during the bombing raids. The multimedia presentations and exhibits make the history feel alive — it’s not just reading information, it’s like stepping back in time. If you love history, the military, or just want to understand Darwin on a deeper level, this place is definitely worth the visit. 🙌
Anne M — Google review
WOW. This has to one of the best museums I have visited in a long time. The cinema was so great and the movie was very well made. Displays were also well worth the visit, and as someone coming from Europe, it was nice to see all the exhibits and get a view on the war from the other side of the world. We spent good well over two hours and we would definetely come again. Thank you

Awesome museum. Lots of cool displays and there's a huge outdoor area. Lots to learn from WWII and the defence members who were part of various wars.

Great history, vehicles, remembering our defence forces and an amazing display and memories from Holocaust survivors. It was the usual hot day, but really pleasant covering the acres through shaded paths and gardens.
Deborah S — Google review
Visited as part of WW2 Half Day Tour by Land & Sea recent Fri 25/7. Blown away literally! Only visited war memorial museums previously. This is on the actual WW2 Fortification heritage listed site on Darwin's military zone East Point area. The best part is outside - Armoured tanks & military vehicles, Bailey Bridges, recreated living quarters, Gun emplacement building on its original site with exhibits in bunker area surrounded by memorial plaques outside. Plus Holocaust indoor mini complex - it is a huge area set amongst gargantuan Banyan trees & nature's camouflage. So our allocated 1.5 hours was never going to be enough. I watched the Defence of Darwin experience when the war siren activated. After this - did a quick whizz inside & headed out. Covered almost all outdoor exhibits & military fortification by speed reading & taking pics to peruse later. Thankful indeed to live in peaceful times but also in absolute awe of the might, size & sheer intimidation of the military vehicles & equipment of yore. The Furphy water tank in good condition was another highlight- the phrase "to spin a furphy" originated!

This museum highlights Darwin's significant contributions during World War II, featuring a striking B-52 bomber on loan from the U.S. Air Force as its centerpiece. Visitors can explore nearly 20 aircraft, including notable pieces like a Spitfire replica and various helicopters, alongside crash relics that tell compelling stories of aviation history.
A great combination of Aircraft and WW2 history. The B52 is a fantastic thing to see. Other highlights for me were the Cobra and F1-11. Well worth a visit. Also there is a bus from the city that stops directly out front.

The Darwin Aviation Museum offers an outstanding collection of historic aircraft and aviation memorabilia. The highlight is the massive B-52 bomber, alongside many other well-preserved planes. A fascinating visit for history and aviation enthusiasts alike.

Nice aviation museum, but there are better ones. Not much to explore and learn for kids. A working flight simulator would be a benefit for example. Caravan or trailer parking is missing.

It's pretty impressive what this group of passionate volunteers do to bring together an amazing collection of displays and we'll kept aircraft. The centerpiece, which takes up the whole width and length of the museum, the B-52 Stratofortress needs to be seen to be believed. Of you're lucky to go on an "open cockpit day" you'll get some real unique experiences.

So so impressed by the team. Had a detailed itinerary ready, but went through with a team member who clarified everything, suggested changes - and confirmed what was/wasn’t open. The Mall in Darwin is the go-to shopping area with a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants. It's a popular spot for both locals and visitors, offering plenty of options for shopping and dining. The area also features a kids' playground and shelters surrounded by established trees providing ample shade. While some visitors enjoy the vibrant atmosphere with music playing at various stops along the way, others find it overwhelming in an outdoor setting.
The family attended The Mall to watch the Christmas Parade. It was enjoyed by the whole family. I hope the photos are enjoyed. We will be there again next year.
Ilija J — Google review
The Mall has some pretty standard clothing stores, eateries, cafes, souvenir shops and such scattered amongst it. It’s a busy have of activity throughout the middle of the day, but it seems that by 3pm the cafes and eateries are closing and by 4 all the other stores are closing for the day with the majority shut by 5pm. It’s a safe place to walk though on your way to the waterfront of you are staying in the other side - we just ensured we went walking back though any later than 9pm. There are generally a few people hanging around and the scooters left scattered, but not enough to bother you or ruin the experience.

There are many shops and cafes here, great for both locals working and for visitors to Darwin. It is just a shame that there isn't enough custom in the CBD on weekends for more of them to be open. This place is a money grab, went in on Tuesday after a fall and landing very heavily on the left side of my chest. The first doctor was great he suspected possible rib brakes or fractures send me off to get x-rays. on Thursday I get a message from Top End Medical, I couldn't view the results through their website so I had to make another booking for the results on Friday. So I go there at the time the appointment was scheduled waited around 30 minutes before I was called, I was surprised it wasn't the previous doctor that I'd seen Dr Saadia was the name asked me why I was there I said it was a follow up on x-rays. Had a look at the report no fractures or breaks sent me on my way in and out under a minute. No empathy from this doctor whatsoever after saying how much pain I was in and I was told breathing exercises are good. I will never go back to the meat doctor's again better off sitting up at the hospital.

Review of Stuart Park Medical – Dismissive, Unhelpful, and Deeply Distressing Experience I attended Stuart Park Medical in a vulnerable and urgent state, seeking support for adrenal suppression caused by prolonged steroid use. My cortisol blood test result showed a dangerously low morning cortisol level (<30 nmol/L), and I’ve been experiencing nausea, brain fog, muscle spasms, fatigue, and extreme sensitivity to stress — all consistent with adrenal insufficiency. I calmly explained my symptoms, the letter from my dermatologist plus his request and my situation: I am already on a slow taper off prednisone and simply needed a basic tapering plan and prescription to bridge me until I can see a specialist, which may take months. Instead of receiving help, I was met with coldness, disinterest, and complete dismissal. The GP sat slouched in his chair, lacking any empathy or urgency. After I described what I was going through, he told me, “I don’t have time for this,” stating another patient was waiting. When I asked for support, he said, “What do you want me to do?” I replied through tears, “I don’t know — that’s why I’m here asking for help.” At this point, I was in visible emotional distress — hysterically crying, overstimulated, and physically too weak to drive. Instead of offering care, reassurance, or practical help, he handed me a referral to the emergency department, knowing full well that meant a 6–12 hour wait in a hospital while I’m a working mother of two with no sick leave left. He offered no taper plan, no prescription, no medical guidance, and no compassion. Just an exit. This is standard GP care — not specialist-only treatment In Australia, the research I've done suggests GPs are fully qualified to manage oral steroid tapers, monitor symptoms of adrenal insufficiency, and provide bridging care while awaiting specialist input. This was well within the scope of general practice. The refusal to provide even basic support was, in my view, a complete dereliction of duty of care. No one in my condition should have been treated this way. I left that clinic feeling worse, frightened, and abandoned. Hysterically crying and being stared at blankly by staff rather than being asked, are you ok? I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for Stuart Park Medical to re-evaluate how they treat patients in crisis — and the responsibility they carry when someone walks in asking for help.

I had a very unpleasant experience during my first visit to this clinic. The receptionist (I guess a Nepali or Indian woman) booked me with a male doctor, and she gave me a strange smile, as if she was expecting something unusual to happen. The doctor I saw also seemed to be from the same country. As soon as I entered the room and sat down, he looked at me in a very disturbing way—holding the pen in his mouth, staring without blinking, and smiling, almost like someone with inappropriate intentions. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I will never go back there again. At that moment, I understood why the receptionist had seemed so excited. Because my English is not very good and I was also feeling unwell, I wasn’t able to make a complaint at that time and just left. It also felt very difficult to prove this kind of sexual misconduct. Today, while I was searching for another clinic to visit, this unpleasant incident suddenly came back to my mind 🤮🤮

First time at any Top End clinic. One star for the great receptionist that was helpful and kind. The doctor I saw was terrible. He was late to the appointment even though I was the first appointment of the day and I asked if he could sign some paperwork for work and was advised even though the paperwork has no guidelines on how old results can be, he will not complete it if the results are older than 2 years old. Never had a problem with any other doctors or clinics before. Definitely screamed money grab because I would need to complete another blood test and then book another appointment. Essentially having to pay twice for 1 appointment. Would not recommend.
Sandra H — Google review
Travelled 350km to my appointment, i arrived 10 minutes prior and after booking in, a old man approached the counter, without an appointment, making demands to be seen by a dr, with none available and no appointments he wouldnt take no for answer, demanding one he was given my dr and my time/appointment. An hour later I was told by my Dr that he didn't have time to address my issues or take vitals because of the older man they slipped into his schedule that took approx 1hr. I was told to book next week to address my sickness and book tests
Brittany N — Google review
Do not attend this practice,. Following a recent stroke the hospital sent a follow up report to TEMC . The (doctor) Chupata didn't find it necessary to read that report and prescribed 6 months supply of a powerful drug thinner when the report stated I should take it for 3 weeks
Stuart M — Google review
Absolutely the worst. Run like a fast food restaurant. I’ve given this place a number of visits over the years and it just gets worse. You’d be lucky to get a doctor that has any genuine interest in your ailment. I went in with a chest infection and got zero obs done on me. Had a swab test and was handed the swab and ushered out the door with zero instruction. The doctors I’ve encountered there the last few times have been inpatient and hard to communicate with. I got the feeling I could’ve asked for any prescription and received it just to keep the fast food chain going. I don’t do reviews. But my experience was so bad I had to.

Additionally, visitors can explore key historical wartime sites around Darwin on a genuine WWII army truck tour. This immersive experience covers pre-war history, the Bombing of Darwin, and the impact of Cyclone Tracy.
David was the driver and.was passionate and informative. Much better tour when operator is passionate about subject. Was great driving around army truck. The museum has interactive pieces and the short film is sad and immersive. Would recommend.oh and pies at shop were yum.

If you do 1 tour in Darwin do this. A man, passionate about his work, presents an excellent story of Darwin. The WW2 army truck is very comfortable & cool. I can’t recommend this tour enough. Include the museum & you have a great trip!

The historical tour with David was simply brillant! The ride in the WW2-Truck was an adventure in itself, but with the truck we visited so many interesting war sites. David illuminated different aspects of the wartime which was great! I particularly liked the variety of information we recieved. David is a very competent guide and I am extremely impressed by his knowledge of Darwin’s historical past. Pure excitement!!:)

Brilliant tour in a truck that is around 80 years old and still purring along. Our guide and driver, David, drove well, was extremely knowledgable and adept at presenting that knowledge whilst driving around Darwin. Pretty much no pauses in information flow and all of it good quality.

A very unique way ho have a tour on this old war time truck. It was very relaxing and cool way to see the sights of Darwin and hear its history. Great narrative and a great driver.

Dave took our whole family on a tour (8 to 80yr olds) and everyone enjoyed it. So informative about Darwin’s general history and the bombing, we did the hop on hop off at the military museum which was amazing inside and the extensive outside exhibits too.

Money well spent. Awesome commentary - delivered in an 80+ year old Studebaker truck from the WW2 era. Couldn't ask for any more.

Readback Books & Aboriginal Art Gallery is a unique establishment in the heart of Darwin, Australia, offering a blend of traditional and contemporary Aboriginal art. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of affordable artwork created by talented Indigenous artists, some of whom even paint on-site. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are passionate about sharing the stories behind the paintings, adding depth to the experience.
Over the past few years we have purchased a number of paintings from the Readback Gallery. Having spent a number of years previously living in both Alice & Darwin, we really appreciate indigenous art. Currently in Darwin visiting friends and made another trip to Readback gallery where we purchased another two paintings. Staff are friendly, helpful and very professional. What I really like is their association with the artists and the excellent value of the art works they sell. No inflated prices and a genuine care to assist either well established artists or up and coming one’s. Highly recommend the gallery to anyone who wants fantastic indigenous art at realistic prices.

I got a commission piece from Louise Numina a year ago and I could not be happier! Every visitor compliments it and many ask for the details to get their own, so I thought I better leave a public review! It was incredibly easy to arrange with Readback. The piece was completed within a few days, and I was sent pictures and a short video of Louise painting it. The canvas arrived to me in another couple of days and then I got it framed locally. Amazing quality, authentic art, exactly to the dimensions and colours I wanted. It is the hero of our home, tying the outside in. Extremely reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Definitely worth a visit! Incredible collection. Varying sizes and good information about artist and story of each painting. Good talking with owner about how she got into the business and her knowledge and connections with the artists are commendable. Love the combination of a book store as well.

I recently visited Readback Books & Aboriginal Art Gallery and had a truly wonderful experience. Loretta, the owner, was incredibly knowledgeable about Aboriginal art and culture, and it was evident in the exquisite collection of artworks on display. What really made my visit special was the opportunity to see Aboriginal artist Eddie working on his stunning paintings right there in the shop. His works were truly outstanding, and it was a privilege to see him at work. The bookstore also had a great selection of books on indigenous history and culture, which added to the overall experience. I highly recommend this gallery to anyone who wants to learn more about Aboriginal art and culture and witness or buy some of the most outstanding works by local Aboriginal artists

The NT Chinese Museum in Darwin showcases the significant presence of Chinese settlers during the gold rush era. Established in 1874, this museum aims to highlight the importance of the Chinese community and ensure its preservation. With a small entry fee of approximately $8, visitors can explore a beautifully arranged collection that documents the history of Chinatown in Darwin. The museum also features a temple, adding to its cultural significance. Cash is required for guide payments.
A small bit of history but such a huge cultural impact that has helped Darwin grow over the years. Entry fee is about $8 for a small. Beautifully set out and documented. Kids had a great time.
Kettisha D — Google review
Wife and myself visited the Museum to learn more about the Chinese Culture in Darwin. My Wife’s Mother was evacuated from Darwin in 1942 after the bombing, so there was family history in Darwin from the outset. It was a great surprise to see the family lineage scroll, with the names and dates. So, we contacted the Museum Director to have the information updated to include the Children, Grand Children and Great Grand Children. Also, as it happens, the Curator and my wife are actually related. What a coincidence. Hopefully, this will be completed. Either way, the Museum was educational and a pleasure. A must visit if in Darwin
Kenneth I — Google review
Worth a visit to learn about how Chinese people influenced the development of Darwin and the Top End. The museum was very informative, there is a lot of information to read and it could do with some updating, but I enjoyed the experience and learned some new things. Cost is extremely reasonable at $4 per adult and payment is cash only. Only open on certain days/times, or by appointment. Check before visiting. We visited on a Sunday at midday, I believe it’s open 10-2 on Sunday’s. The Chinese Temple, next to the museum is beautiful and has a lovely story. Definitely worth a visit. I believe the Temple is open every day. Need about 1 hour to look around the Temple and Museum. Longer if you want to read everything in the museum.

This was disappointing work... lovely colours but appears very rushed! I have edited my comment. I have not mentioned the artists name out of respect (the name you mentioned below was NOT the artist). This a a pure 'quality issue' and nothing to do with their brush style (e.g. a LOT of paint runs between dots - see photos). I won't be taking money out of the artists pocket with a refund but thanks for the offer. The painting is out for repair. The Gallery is responsible for the quality of art that leaves it.

If you are a person interested in culture which is ancient and full of knowledge than you can find it in arts of respected aboriginal indigenous of Australia which are preserved in Charles Darwin University Art Gallery. The idea of human being only a small part of the nature but having immense responsibility to take care of environment is deeply rooted in these arts. These arts reflect how australian aboriginals have been able co exist with nature without disturbing the harmony of environment for more than 40,000 years. The artists talk about stories, dreams, beautiful country, the nature, daily activities which traces information back to thousands of years before. These are the forgotten arts of living which we also had done for thousand of years before, which are still on practiced here. It is very important for us to identify and preserve these ancient cultural arts.
