Nature & Parks
Praia do Sono is a secluded and tranquil beach accessible by small boats, located near the coastal village of Trindade. It is renowned for its pristine white sands, calm and clear waters perfect for swimming, and hiking trails through rough jungle paths. The area offers simple guest houses and a few families living in the vicinity who work in local restaurants and bars.
Absolutely Incredible place! It was Definitely worth the hike. I can't wait to come back!
K D — Google review
Beautiful beach! I took the bus from the central station in Paraty going to Vila Oratorio. I got down in the last stop, that's where the hike starts. There're signs. Took me almost 1 hour to get to Praia do Sono, it was really hot and the path goes up and down. Can be slippery in some parts. Beware of snakes, spiders and scorpions (there's even a sign about it). I just saw a dead snake in the path. I had lunch in the only place open. It was good. Guess that low season has something to do with it cause there's plenty of bars/restaurants in the shore. There's also camping sites, it's a great option to stay here longer and explore nearby beaches. There's also a 5 nights hike, camping along the way and bringing your own food. The sea had waves, and it was fun! Be conscious about your level in the water as there's no lifeguards or whatsoever. I loved the fact there were few people. Definitely worth coming here for an entire day or more!! I 😊😁😄 I went back hiking, but I saw people taking a boat
M S — Google review
After a walk of 1.30 hour through the jungle get there ( you can go by boat, but it's not the same feeling). The beach is very beautiful and clean. There is a variety of restaurants even being an isolated beach. There are lots of camping sites if you want to stay overnight.
FERNANDO R — Google review
You can reach Praia do Sono by walking through a 3km trail. It's not a difficult one but be sure to use repellent.
Francisco M — Google review
Naturally beautiful and isolated!
Adelino J — Google review
Great place to stop by, worth the visit. You can get there by hiking or taxi boat. I went hinking and at the end of the day I got a boat back to our car. The locals are very receptive and their food is amazing, you won't regret the visit. Don't be afraid of the dogs they are friendly and like to be around for company and they like to play.
Guido A — Google review
Perfect place to rest. Not so easy access making this place more calm.
Emil K — Google review
Easy to get there from Paraty. Bus leaves fairly regularly to Vila Oratorio and from there you can walk the (fairly) simple 3km walk to the beach. It was pretty slippery when I went but if you are of reasonable fitness then it shouldn’t be a problem.

Piscinas naturais do Cachadaço is a hidden gem at the end of Trindade's coastline, offering a stunning natural pool sheltered by rocks. Visitors can reach this picturesque spot by walking through lush vegetation or taking a boat from Praia do Meio. While the boat option requires payment, it provides convenient access to the breathtaking natural pools.
Way bigger than expected. A must. One of my highlights in brazil. I suggest walking from middle beach through forest, chill in the natural pools and then get a boat back (they come every 15-20 mins and cost the equivalent of under £3 / person- bring cash!!!)
Meg S — Google review
Nice natural pool you can go doing a medium-hard trilla, beware that the water comes up and you’ll have to leave your stuff somewhere safe, there were lovely and little crabs, not good for snorkel
Borja H — Google review
Loved it. But of a walk to get to but an excellent tidal pool. Lots of small fish in the water too.
Alan S — Google review
Is it beautiful - yes. Is it something so special and rare - no.
Gad T — Google review
Amazing. Boat taxi available for 40 BRL per person from Praia do Meio (cash only). They give you a bracelet, so you're free to return anytime. Full day parking 3min from the beach for 50 BRL per day in Feb'24 (where you can pay by card). Once you arrive at the natural pools, try to go towards the second area, where the crowds are much thinner. You can also walk up a 40min trail (1.3km) with some highs & lows over the mountain and a rather long walk on the beach in the sun.
Eveline D — Google review
It was a nice hike and a chill place to relax for a while! Perfect for a day when its not too sunny outside. We took the loc bus from Paraty to Trinidad (4 reals) and walked for like 45 minutes.

Absolutely stunning and unique...water is calm, lots of fish, and not too crowded. Nice little walk through rainforest to get there

Lula Beach, also known as Praia da Lulu or Beach of the Squid, is a secluded gem located on a small uninhabited island near Paraty. Accessible only by sea, this beautiful sandy beach boasts crystal clear waters and pristine white sands. The surrounding ocean is warm and inviting, perfect for swimming and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and natural beauty of the inland forest that extends to the edge of the shore.
Just beautiful. Must go! (Just nature, no infrastructure such as washrooms or kiosks).

Brilliant place to spend all day but......too many ships with tourists with loud music, influencers taking millions of photos but it's still worth to take private transfer from Party and enjoy all day there. Remember to take food and drinks with you as there is nothing like shop or bar

It's just fantastic! You'll usually get there by boat, mine, was Netuno IV, great team by the way. You can jump from the boat and go swimming. Beautiful place.

A nice little beach which looks like you can only access via a boat tour which we paid R$50pp for (we went in June and you can probably negotiate this down). The water is warm and the views are amazing.
Chris K — Google review
It is a place you must go if you visit Paraty. Rent a boat for the day as it is the only way to get to this beach. It can be a private boat or tour boat, they all go there, I honestly prefer the private boat as you can decide how long you want to stay in each place.

Praia do Pontal is a bustling tree-lined stretch of coastline with numerous food and drink vendors. It's the closest beach to the historical center of Paraty, offering a laid-back atmosphere where visitors can relax with a cold beer or traditional Brazilian caipirinha from beach bars. The beach also provides opportunities for sea kayaking, paddle-boarding, and boat rentals.
Warm water, drinks, music what more can you ask for
Cobus C — Google review
Nice to sit and enjoy the sand. The water is not recommended. Very warm and super muddy. No fun to swim here nor to quickly get a cold refreshment. Plenty of restaurants at the beach, classical beach food with fair prices. Limited sunbeds, chairs always available. No public shower facilites, some of the restaurants offer them to their guests.
Valentin P — Google review
Very dirty water, absolutely not good for swimming
Duoyuan G — Google review
Locals don't recommend that anyone swim in these waters. This is where river water mixes with seawater, and as the river gets sewage from the city, the water is not suitable for swimming. If you came all the way to Paraty, make a bit more of an effort and drive to any of the dozens of other options that are much nicer than this beach. There are about 5 kiosks that offer shade and places to sit and drink and eat. If you just want to go for a stroll and not go in the water, then fair enough, but this is all this beach provides.
Joao C — Google review
If you're looking for a beach where the sound of the waves drowns out the noise of everyday life, Praia do Pontal is your perfect escape. This tranquil gem offers a peaceful haven with the bonus of being just a short stroll from Paraty's charming old town. Imagine waking up to the sea breeze and stepping right onto the sand for breakfast—no need to change out of your pajamas! It’s the ideal spot to relax and soak in the soothing atmosphere. Plus, with the historical streets of Paraty just around the corner, you can immerse yourself in centuries-old architecture, then return to your peaceful beachside retreat. Whether you're a history lover or a relaxation seeker, this beach is a place where you can feel the past while enjoying the present.

Beaches
Ilha do João Araújo, the largest island in the bay of Paraty, is home to approximately 550 residents and hosts an annual Shrimp Festival in June. This festival celebrates the end of a three-month ban on shrimp fishing. The island offers visitors a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the Caicara Community, showcasing their fishing techniques, agriculture, handicrafts, and culinary traditions.
This trail was super scenic and a great hike! There is a new sign at the beginning that directs you toward the trail, the white arrows will take you one direction around the island and the yellow arrows will take you in the opposite direction. Follow the arrows so you don’t get lost in people’s backyards! The trail is a fun, relatively easy hike that is about 3.5 kilometers around, a bit longer if you stop at the beaches and the viewing point. The beaches are all super nice and marked by signs at the top, my favorite beach was Salvador Moreira, the second one about halfway through the hike. They were all super nice and private with incredible views. Everyone on the island is very friendly and there’s a few restaurants to stop at after your day of hiking! Overall this hike is super great, has amazing views, and is fun if you want a chill day of hiking with some great beach stops!
Megan D — Google review
Wonderful beach, the water is perfect, there are trees so it's not that hot. Boat trip is not so expensive and necessary to get to the island, but it's worth. It's a must see!

11Cachoeira Saco Bravo

Hiking area
Cachoeira Saco Bravo is a hidden gem in Brazil, accessible through a two-day trekking tour or as part of the five-day 'Volta da Joatinga' tour. The journey takes you off the beaten path, along jungle trails, dream beaches, waterfalls, and charming fishing communities like Ponta Negra and Cajaiba. Accommodation options include camping or staying in local guest rooms with delicious fish dishes on offer.
Awesome! It's a "must go" in Paraty. This waterfall is unique! To get there you need to walk for about 2 hours in the jungle. You can find a guide on the beach named Ponta Negra. It's forbidden to take the trail without a guide.
FERNANDO R — Google review
The trail from Punta Negra is fairly easy, around 2h - 2h 30 min one way on a slow pace. The Saco Bravo place is very scenic, plenty of beautiful pictures opportunities with the boulders and the sea. There was no one around when I went. The water is not too cold, but the pond can get exposed when the sea is angry, so extra caution is needed.
Roland D — Google review
(Translated by Google) The most beautiful waterfall I've ever been to! The Saco Bravo waterfall is truly a spectacle, with clear waters, deep and shallow areas that will please everyone. The contrast between the fresh water of the waterfall and the seemingly endless sea to the left is truly a breathtaking sight. About the way to get to Ponta Negra beach (which is where the trail to the waterfall begins): There are 2 ways, walking/hiking and by boat. First, set Vila Oratório on your GPS (there are buses that also drop you off at the location). When you get there, at the final stop, you can follow the trail that goes to Praia do Sono, Antigos, Antiguinhos and Ponta Negra (this trail takes about 4 to 6 hours, depending on your pace) or by boat. At the final stop, there is a free van that passes every 15 minutes or so that takes you inside the condominium (very beautiful, by the way). The van drops you off at the pier where the boats pick you up. I found the price of the boats to be quite steep (120 each round trip, I went as a couple, so 240 in total). The boat takes you from the Laranjeiras condominium to Ponta Negra beach, where the trail to the waterfall begins. There you should look for a guide, many of the locals are guides, so it's not hard to find one. It's advisable to go very early, especially on busy days/holidays, as there is a limit on the number of people who can go up the trail, as well as the time. Going without a guide is risky, not because of the trail itself, but on busy days, INéia inspectors are at the entrance to the trail and you can even get a fine for those who don't have a guide. Regarding the price, we negotiated with the guide who charged 150 for the couple. The trail: The description says that it is considered "difficult". It is 3.7km long (~7.4 km round trip). The beginning has a very steep climb that demands a bit more cardio, but then it levels out and enters dense forest, with practically no sunlight, which is a bit of a relief. I wasn't in good physical shape, so I had to stop more often to rest, so we made it in 2:20h, but I don't consider the trail that difficult. Someone who is already used to it would say that it is of medium difficulty. There is running water at several points along the trail, where you can wash your face and hands, and cool off. I recommend taking some cookies and fruit, as well as water to nourish yourself and hydrate yourself during the hike. At the end of the trail, upon reaching the waterfall, you are rewarded with the beautiful view of the pool formed by the waterfall in contrast with the blue waters of the sea. Diving in the waterfall's waters is rewarding and makes all the effort to get there worthwhile. The return trip took ~2 hours and was just as difficult. I think that's it in general, despite the prices charged for the boat/guide, etc. It's definitely worth visiting this waterfall, a unique and rewarding experience. I recommend that anyone who can and wants to visit it go as soon as possible✌️✌️ (Original) A cachoeira mais linda que já fui!

(Translated by Google) Fantastic! One of the few in Brazil and the world! You need a guide and they will give you these instructions: 1. Go to Vila Oratório (27km) by car ("street parking", R$30, better to pay than to have your car scratched) or bus (every hour, during the week, R$5, takes 40 minutes). 2. Take a free van to the chic Laranjeiras condominium (the van only goes this route), it takes about 20 minutes and takes you to the pier inside the condominium. 3. At the pier, take a boat to Ponta Negra (R$120 round trip, about 20 minutes), your guide can probably book/recommend the boatman. Note: it is possible to hike to Ponta Negra. 4. Ponta Negra is a village with 203 residents, that's where the trail starts; several of the residents are guides, but make a reservation in advance. Flaviane charged R$150 for each of the 3 people (expensive, but I was part of a group that was already formed, so I didn't question it); in a larger group it should be cheaper. The trail takes 2 hours (3.7 km each way) at a good pace, there's a big climb at the beginning, then it gets easier, and it's almost all through the forest, that is, in the shade. There are limits on the time you can start, stay, and how many people you can go, but no one controls that. There's always water in the waterfall (fresh water), which is good for bathing, but the pool is small and shallow. The fact that it flows into the sea makes it fantastic! It's expensive, but it's worth the visit.

(Translated by Google) This place is incredible! A view of the waterfall and the sea of unique beauty. The trail to the Saco Bravo waterfall starts in the Ponta Negra Community, which can be reached by boat (50 reais/person) or by trail from Vila Oratório (7.8 km). The trail is classified as difficult and takes 6 hours and 8.4 km (it can be done in less time depending on your pace). Guidance is mandatory and necessary because the trail goes through dense forest, there are venomous animals and detours along native paths. At the end, there is a steep descent through rocks with a staircase at the end to access the waterfall. Along the way, there are points for hydration. It is not recommended to do the trail when the sea is rough, as access to the waterfall is dangerous. And depending on the weather, it is also not possible to return to Oratório by boat. In the community, there are hotels, inns, cabins, markets and restaurants. There is no cell phone signal, but all establishments have Wi-Fi for payment in Pix. (Translated by Google) Our route: We were staying in Paraty. So, we drove to the Laranjeiras condominium (put Vila Oratório in your GPS). Time: 35 min. In the condominium, there is a street to park the car (20 reais), there you can tell people where you want to go (Praia do Sono or Ponta Negra), and for this trail, the destination is Ponta Negra. We waited at a point to catch a van (free). This van enters the residential area, since the pier is located there. Van journey: 7 to 10 min. The boatman charged 100 reais per person considering round trip. Journey time: 30-40 min. Arriving at the village of Ponta Negra, you walk a small uphill to reach the beginning of the trail. On the day we went (05/09) there was an INEA inspection with armed guards, blocking access to those without a guide. We encountered some village guides and managed to negotiate with one of them (he charged 150 per couple). If you're in a group: 50 per person. About the hike: it took us 2 hours and 30 minutes! The trail is through dense forest with ascents and descents, parts with rocks and slippery sections. Go prepared!! Wear hiking shoes, bring plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate clothing. It's best to go early!! Because it gets very hot. Arriving at the waterfall, there's the second challenge: descending the rocks! Go slowly...they are dangerous. On the last rock, they've placed a rope ladder to help. The waterfall is incredible, the water is cold, and there's a part that the guides don't recommend staying near because the waves break unexpectedly and can cause accidents. The return trip: it took us 2 hours. In short, the path left us with some scratches and slips, but it was worth it! Tip: You need to have a minimum level of physical fitness, because the trail is exhausting...

The Lagoa Azul Tour in Paraty/RJ offers a fantastic experience for travelers. The tour includes a visit to Copacabana beach for beach volleyball contests, cycling road races passing through Ipanema neighborhoods, and sailing competitions in the inshore waters off the Lagoa and Gloria neighborhoods. The 11 am Schooner trip is highly recommended, offering a fantastic boat ride with excellent service and a lively atmosphere.

Transfer ilha grande to Rio, was advertised to take approximately two hours. Their van broke which they did not inform us about letting us wait for more than one hour without information. No refund possible, and while they could have just gotten Uber for us they decided to keep us waiting, likely to avoid cutting their margins, for an hypothetical car… still waiting at the moment it’s been more than two hours. Still waiting currently it’s a great way to use your hard earned vacation time, I recommend you try it.

(Translated by Google) A schooner tour that delivers what it promises and is worth the price paid. I went on the Soberano da Costa IV, from Lagoa Azul Tour, and I found the experience to be well organized and in line with the group tour proposal. The boat's structure is good: comfortable tables and chairs, a well-maintained boat and two separate bathrooms (male and female). Nothing luxurious, but completely functional for the type of tour. The itinerary was well planned, passing through beautiful places — Ilha dos Cocos, Praia do Lula, Lagoa Azul (Ilha da Pescaria) and Praia Vermelha. The stops were well distributed, with reasonable time to enjoy the sea and the view (30-40 minutes each). The tour lasted a total of 6 hours, leaving at 11:00 and returning at 16:30, exactly on time. Regarding the food on board: we ordered a chicken bait (appetizer), a chicken stroganoff and a fish fillet in shrimp sauce. Everything is delicious, well-served and delivered quickly. Prices are affordable for tourists. The drinks are also good, with a special mention for the Jorge Amado cocktail, typical of the city. The atmosphere on the boat is more for those who want to enjoy a group, family and relaxed tour, with music playing almost the entire time, without exclusivity. For those who understand this idea, it is a great choice. Useful Tips to Make the Most of the Tour: • Arrive at least 1 hour in advance to ensure a good table and a good place on the boat. If you are coming during high season or holidays, be sure to BUY THE TOUR IN ADVANCE; if you leave it until the last minute, there may not be any left! • Bring your own towel to dry off after diving. • Bring a diving mask or snorkel, if you want to use one during the stops, as rental on board is charged separately. • You are allowed to bring your own drinks and food onto the boat, which can help you save money during the tour.

This is the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. The waiter was distracted by other guests while taking our order and had to ask several times. The food took an hour and a half to arrive, and when we asked the staff decided to go into a discussion with us on whether we had actually waited for an hour or if it was only 50 minutes. The food was very mediocre and I ended up finding a white piece of mystery meat in my beef dish. Please just eat elsewhere.

One of the popular restaurants in the historic centre of Paraty!! Service is excellent, place is clean and their prices are reasonable!!! With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating Hiltonho has an extensive menu. Along with their happy hour promo of Caiparinha we ordered the Afro-Brazilian iconic stews called Moqueca!!!! Not only was this delicious, but it was huge portions in Brazil (serves 2) can actually serve 3-4 people

Great little wine bar on the best street in town . We went here multiple times during our week in Paraty. Nice mixture of local and international wines including those sold by the glass (rare over here - it’s usually “red” or “white”!) Tasty snacks and small plates for the days then you don’t fancy a big dinner. Lovely staff and ambience. Highly recommend!

Great wine and nice ambiance, wish I could give it a 5. However they ran a promotion for '2 glasses of white wine - $50' with only three to choose from. I had two different ones, but they refused to honor the promotion saying it only applied to one type. When I said they should have indicated that, they said no. Disappointing and misleading. Much friendlier service everywhere else.

The area is filled with original houses, beautiful gardens, quaint shops, bars, restaurants, and friendly locals. Visitors can explore the colorful buildings while learning about the history and architecture on guided tours.

A very nice historical center. I appreciated it the most early in the morning when I was arriving - there was no one outside, it was super quiet and the streets nicely lighted. I really loved it. Paraty is a very beautiful and authentic town, full of colonial history and is worth visiting both by day and by night! The semi-flooded streets (depending on the time) offer good opportunities for photos. We visited off-season and it was relaxing to walk about, stop for a coffee or some savoury snack, and continue discovering hidden gems in town! It's also a hub for boat trips to beautiful beaches and islands surrounding the town!
Dimitrios B — Google review
It's a small town with good infrastructure, if you stay in the center or surroundings you can do everything on foot, you have the option of renting bikes too. Prices are reasonable for a tourist town if you do a little research. It is surrounded by beaches, waterfalls and mountains. In winter it is not too cold and in summer the climate is perfect to enjoy everything that nature has to offer in this privileged and peaceful region.

This is a hidden gem in Brazil, completely unexpected and authentic (almost like frozen in time). At first you think that there's nothing there until you start exploring and wonder through the streets (not so easy for someone with walking difficulties due to the big cobblestones and uneven ground). The original houses are amazing but the true wonder lies in the gardens, absolutely great little shops, bars, restaurants and friendly local people. I wish we had more time to explore even further.

Nearby, visitors can explore a thick mangrove forest only accessible from the water, offering an adventurous day activity.
I loved it!! 😄😄😄 Tide is low in the morning. From 11/12 midday tide slowly becomes higher and almost no sand is left bu 4 pm. At the same time that tide starts, wind comes along which is good to get some hot air flowing but for people doing kayaking or SUP is better to do it in the morning. There's several kiosks with food and drinks and some have music. I stayed close to the last kiosk which had the best chilled samba and full of local people. Not a lot of people cne here for swimming as the water is kind of brownish. But of course you can get into the water
M S — Google review
Was not a big fan of this beach. It was dirty, I literally had dirty drops all around my body when I got out of the water. It was really peculiar as the water was probably the warmest water I have ever been in in my life. It felt like entering a hot spring and as you may expect, algae thrives in such environment. I guess it is so warm because the whole bay is incredibly shallow. It is a great jumping off point for kayaking though. If you want a nice beach experience though, you will have to take the bus and ride to the surrounding beaches. And yes, they clean horses in the water.

Everything was Great. The service and attention of the waitress was the best. obrigado.

Good value for money, food tastes good and they have nice options. One of the dishes we ordered came wrong, but they corrected it timely. The staff is very sweet. The only thing that bummed me a bit is that not all the options listed in the outside menu are available. The menu they give you inside is much smaller (still has good options, but smaller), which I consider misleading as I walked in this restaurant expecting to order something else.

(Translated by Google) The restaurant is very beautiful and pleasant. The food leaves something to be desired for the price. The meat was sold as "filet mignon" however it was against fillet, tough meat with an old taste. The chanpingon on my plate tasted of poor quality. The rice It looked like it was reheated. It did not match the price charged. I ordered a sparkling water which looked like it had been refilled before as there was no sparkling water. I asked for a change and the waiter looked at me as if I was wrong... In the end... Bad experience!

Clear and calm waters. Went in a Wednesday and it was quite empty for a sunny day, almost private. Awesome for kids with adult supervision. Beautiful place. Must go when at Paraty.

AMAZING Paradise😎 Easy access. . Just 5 minutes by boat from Gonçalinho Beach. I recommend the Konquilhas restaurant. Fair price and great customer service. The waiter "Coquinho" is very friendly and hard worker.

It's a short boat ride from nearby são Gonçalo Beach. This small island has three little beaches with simple restaurants. Plenty of shade under the trees. The sea is extremely calm and the water is clear. Great place to spend a few hours, especially for families with children

Praia da Joatinga is an iconic beach located in a fashionable district of Rio de Janeiro. It has become popular on Instagram due to its impressive sunsets and stunning scenery. Although not as easily accessible as other beaches in the area, it offers a unique and private experience. The beach is situated within a condominium and offers breathtaking views, making it perfect for activities like rappelling along the cliffs. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and purchase refreshing coconut juice from nearby vendors.
Hard to reach via Uber and even harder to get one to pickup from the bottom but strikingly beautiful beach. Very strong waves so be careful to go during low tide.
Steven S — Google review
Check for tide information online in advance. Come on low tide only. The beach is picturesque but hard to reach, I do not recommend for families with kids or older people. Wear comfortable shoes.
Lizaveta M — Google review
I don’t know my opinion was pretty lame. I expected much more than what it was granted it was high tide, but still even during low tide It wouldn’t been what I expected. Now the beach on the other side of the point there towards the west that was really nice. I’ll try to explore that one, but I would never come back to this one never say never but
Shawn R — Google review
One of the most stunning views in Rio.. It's like a remote beach where you have to pass through a condominium of houses. There is a cliff side where we practice Rapel and it was amazing. It was our first time doing Rapel, and the views were just amazing with helicopters passing from time to time and a beautiful beach near by.. They sell cold coconut juice near by so whenever your thirsty just go up and by for a couple of reais. Would definitely go back there
Miguel B — Google review
Joa Beach is a dreamy, romantic spot perfect for a getaway. It’s got easy access, though you’ll want to call an Uber to get there comfortably. The scenery is stunning—ideal for photos—but keep an eye on the tide, as it can sneak up on you. A beautiful place to make memories!

Sooo beautiful and not too crowded on a Saturday in March. Careful though the tides and waves are strong and dangerous if you wade in too deep!
Grace C — Google review
Amazing beach! I really loved and it wasn't crowed! Just be careful with the sea cause we almost lost our stuff! We were chilling and the wave came and make us all wet at the sand.

Cepilho beach in Trindade, Brazil is a special location, particularly during the early morning when the sun rises and only a few individuals traverse the stunning sands. This spot is ideal for body surfing or swimming in slightly more turbulent waters. While the entire town revolves around its beaches, it can become very crowded during summer and weekends.
The north end of the beach in Trindade, Brazil is a special place, especially early in the morning as the sunrises and only a few people are walking the beautiful sands. It you like to body surf or just swim in a little rougher water, this is your spot. The entire town is devoted to beaches but can be very busy in the summer and weekends. Also, no one wears masks so I recommend avoiding town as much as you can, especially on weekends and after Christmas.

There are only a couple bars here so it isn't the best place to spend the day but the beach is nice and the waves are great.

Amazing, consistent surfing! This is not a good swimming beach. There is a little restaurant/bar on the beach for between surf sessions. Trindade, which is a great little beach town to stop for food and drinks and swimming, is just a short drive down the beach.

The bad thing is that the restaurants on the beach are very expensive. There is also a small supermarket on site, with few options and also with high prices. I suggest renting a place and spending the weekend. It is wonderful!!! (Translated by Google) First off, I'm in love with Paraty. Ponta Negra is one of my favorite beaches. It's only accessible by trail or boat. The trail from Praia do Sono is a little over an hour long, or starting the trail in Laranjeiras, which leads first to Praia do Sono, adds another hour. The trail is easy and well-marked. By boat, it leaves from the Laranjeiras condominium and costs around 50 reais. Ponta Negra has a very short stretch of sand. The community is small, without much infrastructure. This makes me like it even more, as it becomes a more peaceful place. There, you can take another trail that leads to Saco Bravo waterfall (I'll leave a photo), a slightly more strenuous trail that takes about 1.5 hours. It's worth checking out because, besides being beautiful, it's one of the few that flows into the sea.

49Praia Secreta

4.7

Public beach
Praia Secreta is the first beach along the reserve road, accessible from a small parking area across from the initial turnoff. It requires a 100-meter walk and a steep descent down the rock face to reach its secluded shores. At low tide, a spacious pool-like area with 3-5 feet deep water offers a warm sunbathing spot. Visitors can find small spaces on the rock face to place their belongings.
First beach on the reserve road... Access is across from the first turn off (small parking area on the right) you see.. about a 100 meter walk to where tha cliff starts down... Fairly steep and no direct path , but you make your way down the rock face to the bottom... When the water is low there is a large pool sized are where the water is 3-5 ft deep and warmed by the sun .. Small spaces on the rock face to put your bags . *** Two Notes*** First... Depending on the tide and the season , the water may be too high for this beach to be useable as it is all rock with a large buffer rock blocking the pool from the ocean... From the cliff face , you can see before making the climb down whether it's good or not... If water is constantly washing over too of the big rock ( instead of some water cascading over it and draining into the pool ) then it's a no go and pool is too deep and rough... Come back at low tide or a day when sea is calmer.. *** Second*** I would definitely recommend wearing sneakers or hiking shoes to get down the cliff and take your flip flops / sandals to wear when you get down... Parts of the climb are steep and traction can be needed.. If everything works out so you can go, this is one of the prettiest places in the area.. Water comes rolling over the rock and spilling into the pool in dozens of little cascades and waves crash against the rock causing sprays of water to fly into the air... Magical !

Esli K — Google review
Unfortunately, Angra does not have a nice beach. If you have no time, money or chance to go out, u can come here. The coconut Beach is the first and last beach for family in the Angra/Paraty area. It is wide, quiet and not crowded. Because, no shops. At least, they have a beautiful clear water and a shallow shore, and so no big wave/swell. And it is a convenient location with a parking. As many tall trees make a good shadow in the beach, you may not need a parasol, but snorkel. As you can see many fishes in the shore, I would recommend to take a snorkel for children. Also on the left side there is a small rocky stretch which you may see other type of fishes, too. But, the beach is not developed for the visitor. Minimum Items should be prepared: Food/drink, tap water in 2L pet bottle for rinsing. Otherwise, go to Arraial do cabo. Ten times better.
