The Witches Market, also known as Mercado de las Brujas, is a unique and intriguing destination in La Paz. Located just a short walk from the hotel, this market offers a wide variety of items associated with strange and occult practices. Visitors can find dried llama fetuses, medicinal herbal remedies, aphrodisiac balms, ritual figurines, and more. The market is particularly known for its dried llama fetuses which are believed to bring good luck and protection.
Great artisanal market. Beautiful local goods such as scarves, bags, clothes in original lama or alpaca wool. Best place to buy souvenirs and to help the local economy. Plus it's a very nice walk to have close to other local attractions. Don't miss it!
Nathalie P — Google review
Visiting the Witches Market in La Paz was such a unique and unforgettable experience. The market is full of fascinating items, from traditional remedies to mystical charms and ritual supplies. Every seller I spoke with was incredibly friendly, patient, and eager to share their knowledge about local witchcraft traditions and spiritual beliefs. Their warm hospitality made exploring even more enjoyable. If you're ever in La Paz, don't miss this magical place-you'll leave with amazing memories and maybe even a special souvenir.

Such a beautiful and interesting place. Filled with vibrant colours and everything you could possible need! Definitely worth a visit!
Ailish C — Google review
The Witches’ Market (Mercado de las Brujas / Mercado de Hechicería) is located around Calles Linares and Jiménez, near the historic district of La Paz, close to San Francisco Church. It’s run primarily by Aymara women (chifreras / yatiri) who sell items for traditional / spiritual practices (herbs, charms, potions, dried animals, etc.). It was designated as Intangible Cultural Heritage of La Paz partly because it is a living expression of cultural and spiritual traditions.
Vakhtang J — Google review
It’s really just a street lined with tourist shops - I wouldn’t call it much of an attraction. There’s a mixture of mass-produced textile crafts (clothing/bags/…), artisan alpaca-based stores, and some bohemian stores selling cultural items (probably the most interesting aspect of the street).
Harry W — Google review
The Witches’ Market in La Paz is a very unique place! You can find traditional items and it’s a great spot to buy souvenirs and Patagonia jackets.
Leah L — Google review
A nice a great place to pass by, its quite smaller than what people mention but really fun PS: not creepy :p
Ahmad M — Google review
The Witches’ Market in La Paz is more than a quirky stop — it’s a fascinating insight into Bolivia’s indigenous roots, spiritual beliefs, and traditions that still thrive in modern-day life. It’s weird, wonderful, and one of the most distinctive markets in South America. If you're curious about the mystical or open to the magical, this place will leave a lasting impression.

Valle de la Luna, also known as Valley of the Moon, is a unique area with trails and peculiar rock formations shaped by mountain erosion. The landscape is characterized by its lunar-like appearance, created by a combination of heavy precipitation over the years and soft volcanic soil. Situated near La Paz, this dramatic badland features natural amphitheaters and eroded rock walls that crumble under your fingertips.
Absolutely stunning! 15 min from La Paz South, you have to go and see those incredible landscapes. Between Star Wars and the moon, it's a great site to visit. There are 2 tours, a 15 min and a 45 min one. The 45 min is the best. From the Teleférico green line last stop you can catch a collective bus or grab a cab. The entrance fee is 20 BOB. Totally worth it!
Nathalie P — Google review
Magical place, you take a tour from the city of la paz its 40 to 45 mins either reserve a tour from city center or feel free to take a car by yourself, also thete are buses go there from the city center, amazing rocks formation, you can literally do a 15 or 45 mins hike level really simple and easy and safe, even for children between 7-10 years old Nice to take also fun pictures Really recommended if you are around la paz Take with you sunscreen, bottle of water and maybe a hat to protect from the sun And enjoy the beauty of the nature, PS: it looks like Ciudad Roma if you did the 5 days tour in Uyni, but smaller!
Ahmad M — Google review
Don’t even think of not going! The geological site is extremely beautiful with breath taking views! It’s a STOP that you need to visit while in La Paz!

Nice park but not great for cycling. We are around sixty years old and found it too hilly to bike.
Frank L — Google review
I visited Moon valley with a tour group in October 2025. Moon valley has sandstones and clay rich columnar structures and located in the lowest altitude of La Paz. As explained by our tour guide Milena, the origin of name is related to the astronaut Neil Amstrong. He saw a shiny patch on earth from moon and decided to visit the place once he arrived on earth. So that brought him to salt marshes in Bolivia. During the visit he arrived at La Paz valley and noted the present moon valley area. So he called out that it looks like in moon and so came the name Moon Valley 😊 Many foreigners and rich people and those having high blood pressure problems selected moon valley area as their residence because of favorable climatic conditions there. Also altitude sickness is not a big issue in this part. It’s very touristic and well managed by the government. But I still prefer the Animas Valley, which is not very accessible and having less facilities for tourists over Moon Valley 😊

This place is quite interesting yet a bit bland. Please consider to partner with Sony Pictures Entertainment to get the copyright of Starship Troopers. This place is perfect to be a Starship Troopers theme park. I have so many ideas for it, which not necessarily involves high-tech stuffs.
Yu L — Google review
Interesting place to see, different kind of landscape but don't expect any world wonders. Park is pretty run down and in need of maintenance with holes in the paths and broken bridges.
Niek W — Google review
After reading the reviews, I nearly was discouraged not to go. Some complain of this or that, look take a Trufi(local transport) which will leave you right at the entrance of it for BS3.8 one way and the same to return to downtown La Paz. Thus it is an amazing place. Sit down, take in the sights and enjoy. BS20 to get in, thus 28 Bolivianos at the most it’ll be what it’ll ran you. About $2.05 if that. Water and sunscreen if ya worry about the sun. From La Paz to here it’ll be a tad bit warmer because you’ll be coming down a bit lower than the 3600ish altitude!

Mirador Killi Killi is a popular hilltop destination in La Paz, Bolivia, offering stunning panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. It is known for its dramatic vistas and scenic gardens, making it a favorite spot for locals to unwind or enjoy romantic moments. The viewpoint holds historical significance as it served as the headquarters during an indigenous siege in 1781.
Waaah such a beautiful place to see all of La Paz!! Would recommend going there around 5:30 and staying until 7 so you can see both the sunset and the lights at night!!!! Nice place for a lil picnick too I would say :)
Eva W — Google review
Great viewpoint for shots of the city. I'm not sure how safe the wall back would be at night, but getting there during the day was not an issue and I was able to take Uber back down. It is not a long walk to get to the viewpoint, but there is a fair elevation gain so if you have not acclimated yet you may want to consider having a car drop you off.
Parker V — Google review
Lovely mirador with a 360° view over La Paz. Resting area too so you can rest a little after climbing there and have a glance on the city. Definitely worth it!
Nathalie P — Google review
Things to Keep in Mind The climb up is quite steep; given La Paz’s high altitude, taking a taxi or cable car part-way may be wise if you aren’t acclimatised. Mirador Killi Killi is one of the best lookout points in La Paz. The view of the city and surrounding Andes is breathtaking. We took a taxi up to avoid the steep climb, arrived around sunset and stayed until dusk — the city lights and colors of the sky were unforgettable. Bring a jacket and water, and allow about 30-45 minutes to take it all in. Highly recommended for a short stop while exploring La Paz. “Killi Killi” comes from a small bird of prey (falco sparverius) that once inhabited the area. The site served as a vantage and control point during the 1781 siege of La Paz by indigenous leader Tupac Katari.
Vakhtang J — Google review
Astonishing! Take a Trufi up there or walk it up, either way, a well kept and beautiful sighting of La Paz at nearly 360° all around. Enjoy!
Jay — Google review
A big walk straight up to get to the Mirrador but unreal views once you get there. A bunch of benches to sit on, a quiet chill spot. I have no doubt the sunrise or sunset would be amazing. When you see the street art below you are getting close to the Mirrador.

Jaén, a charming street in La Paz, is a delightful journey back in time. This beautifully preserved colonial area boasts stunning 18th-century architecture that now houses an array of boutiques and galleries, including the vibrant works of Aymara artist Mamani Mamani. Visitors can explore five small museums with a single ticket, showcasing everything from ancient musical instruments to pre-Colombian gold artifacts.
What a beautiful and historic street said to be haunted by the ghosts of former slaves to the Spanish. Apart from a nice place to take photos, the street is lined with dozens of tourist offices
David M — Google review
Beautiful street with a few museums around. Loved the paved street
Roger G — Google review
One of the better-preserved parts of the colonial area of La Paz, Jaen Street retains the old cobbled stones and houses dating back to the 18th century. Many of these houses are now museums, and the street is home to five of La Paz’s most important museums: Museo de Metales Preciosos, Museo del Litoral, Museo Casa de Murillo, and Museo Costumbrista Juan de Vargas. These four museums are included in a single ticket that you can purchase at Museo Costumbrista and start your visit from there. The fifth museum is the Museo de Instrumentos Musicales. All five museums can be visited in a day due to their size and proximity. You have a 48-72 hour time window to visit the four municipal ones included in a single ticket, so be sure to check the timetables as opening times vary.

Brock S — Google review
This is La Paz’s best preserved colonial street and one of the most touristic destinations in the city. It houses four museums that they are located one next to the other, in fantastic buildings of colonial architecture. One of these museums is the Casa de Murillo, the house of Pedro Domingo Murillo, the leader in the La Paz Revolution of 1809, that was hanged by the conquistadors where is now the Plaza Murillo. The museum displays collections of colonial art, furniture and household items of Bolivian aristocracy. It is also worth visiting the Mamani Mamani Gallery, of the homonym famous Aymaran artist, who's work has been exhibited all over the world and it's well known for his use of indigenous tradition and symbols.

The Coca Museum, located on Linares 906, is a small museum that delves into the history and various applications of the coca plant. It showcases the evolution of the coca leaf from traditional medicine to its use as a key ingredient in products like Coca-Cola and eventually cocaine. The museum also highlights the cultural significance of the coca leaf in Bolivia, especially since it became legal for traditional and medicinal purposes during Evo Morales' presidency.
An extremely well don’t museum that pulls you in and leaves you yearning for more. The photos are amazing and history so well explained in a very captivating way. Signage is in Spanish but they gave us English books that translates all signage and was very easy to follow. I could have stayed for a few more hours digesting everything. Closed for lunch from 1-2
Brianna L — Google review
Informative, intetesting, pushing the cocaine agenda, but you can't blame them. Lovely guy gave us some free leaf samples. Took about an hour to read the English booklet they give you.
Samuel E — Google review
Fantastic museum. Jam packed with so much interesting information about the history, spirituality, use, production, politics, and advertising of coca leaves. Excellent manual with complete translation in English. Really enjoyed this incredible tiny museum. I read everything and was there for about two hours.
Navdeep K — Google review
Interesting museum about the history, cultural and political aspects of the coca plant and it's derivatives. Focus is on providing information and education rather than displaying artefacts etc. Displays are mostly photos with texts, in Spanish but a translation booklet is provided to accompany your visit in other languages if needed. Photos prohibited
Mert K — Google review
It's okay. If you really want to learn about the history of coca, you can go, but don't expect any exciting exhibits. They give you a 30-page reader, which takes about an hour to read. There's not much else to it.
Robert — Google review
In my opinion not worth a visit. Heavily biased museum that tries to paint a positive picture of cocaine and it's usage. Some quotes from the brochure really left me shocked on how unreflected they were.
Martin — Google review
Very small museum. Overall fairly interesting and informative, but the majority of the time you are just reading a book about the history of cocaine. The pictures on the wall and the weird manikins do very little to add to the experience. Thankfully it was only 15 Bs. because any more would not be worth it. One of the best parts of the whole time there is the Coca candy they give you which numbs your mouth and wakes you up a bit.
Matthew T — Google review
Small little museum that was interesting in the way of information. They gave out Coca candy and I ended up buying a small bag from family back home to taste. They had plenty of other gifts of coca to buy too. Most items were text or photos that were copyrighted so photos were not permitted. The little hall way up to the museum had vendors. Bathrooms available for free.

Great place to walk with significant history, some historical buildings this is known as Plaza Murillo and is located in the old town, Casco Viejoa and serves as the heart of Bolivia's political life. The plaza is surrounded by significant buildings such as the Presidential Palace, the National Congress of Bolivia, and the Cathedral of La Paz. It was originally named Plaza Mayor and later Plaza de Armas but it was renamed in honor of Pedro Murillo, a hero of Bolivia's independence. It’s a very vibrant place.

This is the central square of La Paz. It is a wide open space, always busy and crowded with people. The traffic is heavy and the commerce non stop. It is the place where political protests gather. The basilica of San Francisco de Assisi is its most iconic building. It was built between the 16th and 17th century in Andean Baroque style.

Ground zero of Bolivian politics, with the Presidential Palace and National Congress host here in some historic colonial buildings. Also a very beautiful cathedral is found in La Plaza and the open space around this square is very well guarded 24 hrs/day with plenty of military units and special police forces. Nestled in the heart of Bolivia, Valle de las Animas, or Valley of the Souls, is a breathtaking canyon that captivates adventurers with its dramatic landscapes. The towering rock formations create an eerie yet enchanting atmosphere, often likened to spirits wailing in the wind. This destination is not for the faint-hearted; it features winding paths and steep inclines that challenge even seasoned hikers. However, those who brave the journey are rewarded with stunning views and a refreshing escape from urban life.
The best hoodoo formations on the planet. Take a taxi from town for 40Bs. Enjoy the day, walk back to a taxi stand. It’s all uphill on the way out. Easy walk back.
Sam S — Google review
Nice walk. Can get there easily with a local bus. A local gentleman asked for 5 bolivianos for "the community". At the end of the canyon you have to climb over a fence and a little later on again. But you can go in quite a nice circle. At some point you have a hill which you can climb and from there the view is amazing.

Roxana was an incredible tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about La Paz, being a native. She guided us slowly and told us about the heritage, culture, and best places to get unordinary food. She also told us about the legend of the llama. Roxana was an amazing photographer as well. I really enjoyed my time doing this tour.
Essence P — Google review
As a solo female traveler, I was a little hesitant to do the hike alone. But I decided to do it anyway. Went on a Sunday and it was totally worthed. I took the bus at Plaza Camacho to Chasquipampa (2.50 bolivianos), it took 1 hour and they run until 10 pm, got off at the last bus station in calle 63 and walk till the flowing block then, took a left on a bumpy road. (10 min walk) at the entrance, there's a sign that states it's private property, so they charge 5 bolivianos. They were volunteers picking up trash, so I decided to join (asked for a bad and promised I would pick up trash on my way out, and I did) PLEASE TAKE A TRASH BAG OR PICK UP TRASH TO HELP PRESERVE THIS GEM, unfortunately, there's lots of trash on the way and any help is appreciated. The hike is a total of 10km round-trip is pretty steep and difficult if you are not used to altitude. It took me 5 hours with stops (breathing exercises, drinking water, and having snacks). There's no signs, but road is pretty clear, they're many trails, but I followed the main one. If you have a 4x4, you can drive. During the morning, I didn't see many people, maybe 10 max, but the afternoon was pretty busy. Beautiful scenario. I felt safe. They were cows, dunkyes, and flowers a long the way, being able to connect and enjoy such a stunning place made me feel pretty fortunate. Don't miss it, if you are in La Paz.

Should be the top tourist attraction in La Paz. World class hiking on a well maintained path with very striking changes across the course of a 5 mile route. Most tour operators seem to just take people to see the rock formations at the start of the canyon - which are very unique and impressive - but if you're up for the full hiking loop the views over La Paz and the surrounding mountains are unbelievable. If this hike were at sea level, it would be trivial - the path is wide and easy and the ascent is very gradual. However, the altitude climbs to around 4,300 meters and should be done only after you've acclimated to altitude for a few days. I'd budget about 5 hours if you're in good health and reasonably acclimated to La Paz, if you live here you could probably complete it in less than 3 hours. You can find the route map on all trails. Zero need to hire a tour guide, you can easily get a taxi/Uber here and then walk downhill into town to catch another one the way back.

From nature's standpoint this place is magnificent. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because you can find some trash there - and some is too much.
Reynir J — Google review
The Valle de las Animas, or "Valley of the Souls" is a densely packed forest of rock formations, each stabbing toward the sky in great clusters. Formed out of mudrock and erosion over hundreds of years, the stunning valley has drawn visitors for years. When people first visited this valley, they believed the spires resembled petrified souls, which gave the area its name. In Andean legends, this was originally a fertile land, but human greed destroyed nature, angering Pachamama ( the mother of earth), so the mountains collapsed and the ground cracked, forming these strange rocks, which turned into eternal "soul statues" to warn future generations to respect nature. Because of its landforms and legends, the Valley of Souls is also known as one of the most mysterious and spiritual places in Bolivia. In fact, these stone screens and stone pillars are erosional landforms formed by wind and rain erosion, similar to the Bryce Canyon in the United States. Because of its unique scenery, it is loved by photographers and hiking enthusiasts! Bring plenty of water and snacks, windproof warm clothes come here to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Locals charge 5 BOB/ PP at the entrance, it's a good idea to bring a flashlight for after sunset.

Nestled in the heart of La Paz, the Casa de Murillo Museum is a captivating destination steeped in history. This colonial gem on Jaen Street was once a refuge for Pedro Domingo Murillo, a pivotal figure in Bolivia's fight for independence. Today, it stands as a museum showcasing an impressive collection of colonial art, furniture, and artifacts that reflect the rich heritage of Bolivian aristocracy.
A small but absolutely lovely museum, house of colonial art, furniture and household items of Bolivian aristocracy. It is located in calle Jaen and it used to be the house of Pedro Domingo Murillo, the leader in the La Paz Revolution of 1809, that was hanged by the conquistadors where is now the Plaza Murillo.
Andreas K — Google review
My hope to learn something about Pedro Domingo Murillo but wasn’t fulfilled by this museum. There should be more explanations! Some rooms barely explain why those artefacts are in this museum or from what time they are. Maybe it is more obvious for Bolivians since they probably know the contexts but I left the museum without learning anything. It is a shame since there are some nice objects here and it seems to be an important place for Bolivian history.

Really interesting. I love history. Dedicated to San Francisco's life. Lot of paintings indigenous influenced. The building was a Franciscan convent. The church and museum are worth a visit.

The place is filled with history, they’ll take you around from one room to the next and try to retain as much of the information as possible. It’s amazing how detailed and well maintained they were. Definitely recommend visiting the museum and cathedral if you are staying in La Paz. Good activity to do on a slower / quieter day. Tour guides take you around the museum and part of the cathedral. Tours are available in English. Our tour was slightly rushed so a few rooms we didn't have time to read all the information about the place and purpose of each room. The tour did however take us to the top of the cathedral which we were not expecting so was a nice surprise. Good view of the plaza from the top and of the bell tower.

We booked a private double room which was really good - clean, private, quiet etc. It’s definitely a party hostel, although we found it to be too big/too busy to meet people. Theres only 1 bar and its PACKED to the rafters, you can’t barely move or get to order a drink let alone talk to people over the loud atmosphere. We wished for more opportunity to chat and get to know others. Staff were over it, which is kind of fair tourists are annoying, but still, not very nice or helpful. La Paz location isn’t great, you’re far away from anything like restaurant’s and markets and atms, you are better off staying by the Church (San Fransico) and up around the witches market to really be in La Paz.
Laura E — Google review
Hostel staff were helpful, but the noise in the dorms was a bit too much - couldn't get to sleep until 2:30am due to the loud music and partying directly outside the room. If you're planning to be part of the party it'd be fine, but if you've got anything on the next morning, skip this one! Moved to another hostel after one night which was the same price but much nicer and quieter.
Josiah B — Google review
Decent hostel and doesn’t live up to the party vibe which we were happy enough with. Lockers in room were too small could barely fit a 34L bag in them. The WiFi was dreadful. Strange experience where they pasted our names on a notice on the door asking us to come to reception ASAP…only to ask if we wanted to stay another night. We were not happy with our names and bed numbers being advertised on the door.

Beautiful and well presented museum in the heart of La Paz. The exhibits are a combination of old and modern pieces and explains the history of the region through visual aids very well. The museum is all in Spanish which makes it difficult for someone who doesn’t speak the language to read the texts, but it’s not entirely necessary to understand what is going on. Downloading a translate app with the camera function could be helpful before visiting!
Paul O — Google review
This whole museum was amazing! Well-curated in seven rooms, and it looks like there are plans to expand. The foreigner admission price is cheap compared to museums in the US. It is now Bs$35, and I didn’t see any upcharge for taking pictures (as others have mentioned.) I spent 90 minutes and learned a lot. There were QR code links for more information at many of the exhibits. The entry is in a colonial mansion, and there is a new, modern addition. Neither side was wheelchair-friendly.
John E — Google review
The museum sports an excellent collection of carneval masks, a small but interesting photo collection, a textile collection as well as pottery and coins. The museum is well worth a visit. A downside is, though, that the explanatory texts are exclusively in Spanish. The Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of La Paz is a grand and awe-inspiring structure with a soaring dome, neoclassical ornamentation, and an Italian marble altar. Originally built in 1622, the cathedral underwent reconstruction due to safety concerns and was finally completed in 1989. With immense stained glass windows, five naves, and seating for nearly one thousand pilgrims, it stands as one of La Paz's most impressive religious landmarks.
Built in 1835, a neoclassic architecture with baroque elements. There are five naves in the interior but seems to need some love and maintenance both inside and outside. Visitors are free to enter and pictures with no flashes are allowed. The entrance has staircases and doesn’t have accessible ramp.

Located in the city center plaza, cathedral I would say is quite boring. It’s dark inside, not much to see or do inside either. Spent about 30 seconds inside and came back out. At least admission was free
Allen L — Google review
On the corner of bustling Plaza Murillo stands one of La Paz’s most impressive religious structures, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace. In 1622, construction of the Cathedral first began, taking 70 years to complete. Initially, the building was made from stone, brick and lime, however in 1831 cracks started to appear threatening to collapse the Cathedral. In 1831 the decision was made to demolish the building completely. In 1834 several taxes were imposed in the department of La Paz in order to raise the 30,000 pesos a year needed to reconstruct the Cathedral. Construction on the current Cathedral began on March 24, 1835, led by architect Manual Sanahuja. The Cathedral was officially opened in 1925 as part of the centenary of the founding of the Republic of Bolivia. However, work remained to be done. Furnishing of the interior continued until 1932. The building itself was not completely finished until 1989, over 150 years since construction began, when the two lateral towers on the outside of the Cathedral were added to coincide with a visit by Pope John Paul II.

The Museum of Musical Instruments in La Paz is a small yet captivating showcase of musical instruments from around the world. The collection includes national and international instruments with unique characteristics, some crafted by composer and charango Ernesto Cavour. With over 2,000 pieces dating from pre-Hispanic times to the present day, visitors can explore a wide range of instruments representing various regions, such as panpipes, flutes, charangos, and drums.

This was a surprisingly interesting museum. I had no great expectations however the museum showcases Bolivia's indigenous musical traditions through an extensive collection of over 2,000 instruments, including flutes made from volcanic rock and guitars crafted from armadillo shells. That was incredibly interesting as were the interactive areas where we had a bit of a try of the traditional instruments. The museum was established in 1962 and although we missed it, there are concerts on Saturdays.

We arrived at the museum at 1pm. At 1.15pm, we were informed that the museum would be closing at 1.30pm and would reopen at 2.30pm. We asked, can we resume our visit then. We were told, you will need to buy another ticket. Now, upon entry to the museum, we interacted with two different staff members: one that sold us the tickets, and one that validated our tickets. Neither had the professionalism, or decency, to advise us of the hours or even less of this ridiculous policy. Had they informed to us at the time of entry, we certainly would have come back for the afternoon session as the 3 rooms (out of 15) we were able to see were fantastic. At 5bob a ticket, it sure is cheap, but the treatment and lack of service we received left us feeling very disappointed and cheated, and we certainly were not going to buy new tickets. Señora Antonieta/management, I suggest you review your policy, or at the very least, make sure it is clearly communicated to clients through staff.

A good museum. There was no descriptions or guide or tour in English and because our Spanish is limited there was a lot we didn’t understand but it’s full of instruments and only 5BOB to enter so it’s still worth spending 45 min here.

Hernando Siles Stadium, located in La Paz, offers visitors the chance to witness thrilling soccer matches and immerse themselves in the city's passion for football. The stadium hosts national team games as well as local professional team matches, particularly those between The Strongest and Bolivar teams. Situated amidst scenic mountains, the stadium also serves as a venue for marathons and running events throughout the year.
This is where the national team plays and at times local professional teams. You can get reasonably priced tickets also in the street even for sold out games, but be careful with people selling fake tickets. The stadium is in a central location and from afar makes for a scenic photo. During game days the transport around the Stadium is disrupted. And even when the stadium is half there is a great atmosphere.

Great when there's a football match on involving one of the two big local clubs: Bolivar (La Academia) or The Strongest (Tigre). Especially great when these two play the local derby. Don't expect a quality match, but do expect both teams and their fans to give it their all in typical South American fashion.

If you're eager to delve into the rich and fascinating history of Bolivia, a visit to the Museo Nacional de Arqueología is an absolute must. This archaeological gem focuses on pre-Columbian history, showcasing an impressive array of artifacts that span centuries, including exquisite ceramics, stone tools, and metalwork. Located just two blocks east of El Prado, this compact yet well-organized museum offers a captivating glimpse into the Tiwanaku culture and other ancient civilizations like the Incas.
Good place for archaeology lovers. There are many things (60-70% of exposition) from ceramic. Good guide.

It’s good, not great. I was expecting more in-depth info about local culture and more detailed info on Tiwanaku, but all I found was a sweet guide who tried it real hard. Lots of vases and pots, one gorgeous little statue called Illa de Ekeko.

20.Jan 2023 The museum is still closed, apparently since the pandemia. According to the guard/police most liklely for another month. Google maps and the facebook presence of the museum have "mummified" the old opening hours. Try to call the museum or touristinfo before wasting an hour to get there. Don't trust internet information about opening hours, they are archeologists... they tend to be outdated.

Nestled in the charming Jaen street, the Museo del Litoral Boliviano offers a poignant glimpse into Bolivia's historical narrative, particularly focusing on the loss of its coastal territory to Chile during the 1879 war. This museum showcases an array of artifacts, including flags and portraits that reflect the tumultuous events of the Pacific War involving Chile, Peru, and Bolivia. Visitors can explore captivating displays that highlight late 19th-century La Paz through photographs and historical elements.
(Translated by Google) Bolivia, the beloved daughter of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, has always had access to the Pacific Ocean, but the geopolitical vicissitudes of the past and present still prevent it. I applaud the Bolivians for turning this problem into hope, positivism, and affirmation, and, from my humble position as a visitor, I share their optimism. This museum is essential for understanding the history and current situation of this issue. Highly recommended! The museum is part of the four municipal museums. It houses artifacts (uniforms, guns, flags and many maps) from the time of the war of Chile. The Government Palace, also known as "Palacio Quemado," is a historic colonial building located in the city of La Paz, Bolivia. Great day hike from La Paz. The views of the surrounding area are amazing!! The hike is fairly easy starting from Pedregal and ending in Mallasa. On the way to Mallasa, you will face mostly downhill paths and a couple of times it can be tricky to know the correct path. My recommendation is to follow the path in Maps.me. To get there, you can find a colectivo on the 6th of August avenue, it's written Los Pinos & Pedregal on the colectivo and it costs 2.60 Bolivianos. Start the hike early in the morning because sun exposure is high in this hike, there are no shadows.

The restored palace showcases original architecture and a stunning exterior of pink Viacha granite. Inside, visitors can explore permanent collections of Bolivian colonial artwork alongside rotating exhibitions of modern art.
Was really moved by my visit to the Museo Nacional. The current exhibit of female artists is particularly great but the whole museum is laid out in a really beautiful and thoughtful way. The art is impactful. If you don’t speak Spanish consider a bilingual tour guide

The Museum currently holds an exhibition of female artists that I fully recommend. There is also a photo exhibition on Japan, which I personally found a little less exciting. Generally, I recommend a visit. One downside is, though, that there are no English texts at all, which makes the exhibitions a little less accessible for international tourists. The Death Road Mountainbike Tour with Gravity and their guides Cello, Ruben and Vigo was one big highlight. From the start they provided us with everything we needed and there was never any doubt what we were up to and what we should do. The breakfast was a good start. The minibus ride to the starting point was relaxed and when we started they gave us a extensive briefing on what to expect and they expected from us. There was never any feeling of rushing, they took time for everybody. The provided clothes and bikes where of good/high quality. After testing the bikes on a flat piece we started the ride on asphalt. After this part, roughly 20 km, a short ride on the bus brougt us to the real start of the Death Road. By this time everybody was familiar with the bikes and the guides inspect the bikes at all stops to make sure everything is in good condition. The ride on the Death Road itseld was a lot of fun, the scenery is amazing but you are never in any danger if you do not do anything stupid yourself. At every stop Cello or Ruben gave information on the location we were at that moment and provided a briefing on what was to come. During the stops water and snacks are provided. By the way, at the beginning it can be quite chilly, at the end it is warm/trophical and you can ride in shorts and t-shirts. The end is at the Animal Refugee, with a nice lunch and a beer. The animal refugee tour is worth it! Searching for an organization to bike the Death Road, go with Gravity 😁!

I did death road with Gravity and am super glad I went with them! They were very safety-oriented and professional. I really appreciated the way that the guides prepared us for what to expect each section of the ride. They gave good riding tips for those who were newer to biking. And they made sure we had enough to eat throughout the day with pre-planned snacks. The wildlife refuge at the end was really cool too. Highly recommend!

One of the best tours we have done so far in South America. The professionalism and safty standards are top level. We had Noel and Omar as guides and Johnny was our driver. Dream team. Noel is humble, calm and has a great sence of humor. He explained every new section in detail and what we have to look out for. Ending the tour at the La Senda Verde animal reserve was a bonus and a great experience. Yes they might be a bit more expensive but every dollar is well spent and worth it. Thanks guys. Keep making people happy 😃
