The 21 best Rochester, New York breweries and craft beer

When we arrived and sat at the bar, there was a notable line at the service station at the bar. Even when that line died down with three bartenders, it took a while for us to be greeted. I guess maybe we were supposed to get in line and order at the service station, then sit down? Not sure and there wasn't anything indicating that like a sign or bit on the menu. The food was great and the beer was ok. I got the potatoes and buffalo tofu sandwich, both excellent. However, the issue was that my wife ordered a stromboli and it took about 40 minutes. So all my food came out and I was able to eat it before hers even came out. They told us since strombolis are made from scratch they take longer. Just prep the food so it comes out together.

Beer selection has always been solid here. Tonight’s barrel-aged old ale was a treat and the Brie & Apple Burger was amazing. My wife raved about her Stromboli. Great place for a brew and outstanding food.

After a few tastings, decided on the hefeweizen banana. It paired well with their calzone. I have to say it's the best I've ever had. It was a good sized portion and my husband and I split it. The local art for sale is also a nice touch. We will be back.

Totally impressive! A very nice brewery with awesome food. I absolutely loved the soup, Reuben sandwich and stout cupcake with FRESH raspberries. Everything was so well done AND environmentally responsible. 2 flights of a huge variety of beers left us very happy. New Favorite.

An amazing place. Beer selection is unique and delicious... All brewed on site. Food selection is limited but all excellent. The burger is one of the best in town. Staff is friendly. Such a great vibe here!

Friendly staff. Great selection of beers. Parking lot for customers. Like the decor. Got the chetzel board for $20 and it was so good. The pretzels ans garlic butter was divine. Like the decor being swiftwater they have kayaks on the walls.

Stopped by for dinner. Brought dog since we were heading home. Ordered and paid inside. No outdoor table service. We were the only people outside.Never once came out to check on us or the dog. They claim they have water bowls. Never saw one. Went back to the car to get my water. Might want to rethink the water thing when it's extremely hot outside for both patrons and their pets.

Enjoyed a yummy spinach salad for lunch today at Roc Brewing! I had the Blackbird Semi-dry cider (not a big beer person don't come for me) but there are so many options for beverages. I definitely will go back for a slushie and maybe to play one of their many board games available for customers!

Very good drink selection and very good food. Waiters are very friendly and knowledgeable about their drinks offered and will help you choose if you can't. Great industrial atmosphere. Food is messy so grab a napkin!

Stopped in for an afternoon beer and snack. Their beer menu is packed with great options of top quality beers on tap. Got an half order of poutine which ended up being enough for 2/3 people for only ~6$. They use a white gravy which isn’t traditional but very tasty. Got to play video games with the owner and he is a super nice, down to earth guy. Definitely check this place out if you are in Rochester.

Really great place. Fantastic brews and the food was awesome. Had a red hot kraut something or other and a half order of chili poutine that was far, far too big for my wife and I to finish together. Friendly folks.

Great beer and hotdogs. They have a vegan option called the carrot dog which tastes great! Would definitely recommend this place. I’ll be back!

Good spot for a solid burger or a full tray of poutine. Crisp and gravied. Friends or family can sit and enjoy a meal and their back a drink or enjoy a Fiz Pop Soda.

One of the best breweries I’ve been too in some time. Incredible variety of beers. Their Turkey Dinner sour stout should not be overlooked. The food equally matched the great beers on tap. A must visit in Rochester.

I love the atmosphere here! We sat at the bar and received great service. If you sit at the bar you can offer food directly from the bartender but when sat at the table you have to go stand in line to order. It’s family friendly so there were people of all ages. They have a little outdoor area to sit but they don’t allow dogs. The pizza flavor was delicious but the toppings made the crust soggy so you have to be careful when holding your slice to eat. Definitely would recommend and I plan on returning!

Fantastic selection of beers especially if you like hazy IPAs. I’d recommend any of the IPAs and the sours were very good as well. The food is top notch. They had crab rangoon nachos on the specials menu which were amazing - the dip was creamy, tangy, and full of crab. The chicken sandwich was solid but the smash burger really stood out. If you’re looking for great food and even better beer, then this is the place.

Great drinks, great food! Perfect spot to sit outside with a group. Plenty of parking in small, on-site parking lot or street. Food is so tasty! Wood fire pizzas and salads are a level above brewery food.

Phenomenal beers and outstanding Buffalo chicken pizza. Customer service was on point- got there at opening and already at least 10 people waiting to get in- within 30 minutes super busy. Gorgeous venue. I will return for sure. The Belgian tripel is in my top 5 favorite beers ever- wish they had cans of it.

Great ambiance, friendly team, spacious sitting area, good selection of beers on tap, and amazing food. Had their fried chicken sandwich and wings for dinner and couldn't be more satisfied! The sichuan chili oil on the fried chicken sandwich was awesome - just the right amount of spicy and sichuan-pepper-numbing. Washed down super easily with their cold draughts! Highly recommend if you're around the area!

I'm just gonna start off by saying this place is definitely overrated. Food was average, I had a chicken sandwich, which wasnt great. Pizza was fine, but nothing stands out as amazing as the other reviews suggest. Place was super loud, so much so I could barely hear my wife sitting across the table. It's also a family place, which is fine, but adds to the noise. You seat yourself, have to wait in line to order food, u have to get your own water or get your drinks at the bar.

I really loved this place — beautiful design, everything was clean and stylish. The food was also very delicious! The only thing I would kindly suggest is adding coffee drinks to the menu — I really missed having a cappuccino with my brunch. We will definitely come back again. Thank you!

Sitting here right now. Yes it's Memorial Day but.... It's been OVER AN HOUR and we just got our drinks and no aps. No food. My husband actually left to get gas in the car as we're from out of town. Came back and still no food. Not enough staff to handle the Memorial day crowd but they are still seating. Oh wait...after over an hour and 15 minutes we got our aps now. Apparently the electronic order device was not working. Paper and pencil anyone? I'd be GONE if I were not here with others and they are complaining but not as mad as i am. . And I saw other people who came after us get their drinks and food before us. So after about 1 hour and 20 minutes we got our food. A burger, a roll, and a few swipes of something on it. The lettuce on it was completed wilted. No offer if everything was OK. No offer of catsup. No water refill. I didn't even bother with the burger because I'm so mad. I live an hour away and elsewhere i could have rather and been home by now. Shame.

Nestled in a quiet neighborhood this is a must try brew company. Menu has much to offer. Multiple beverage choices including their beer. Sampled a couple which were very good. The Veg Burger was delicious, as well as the Risotto. Great atmosphere. Definitely returning.

Been here twice for dinner, Small menu but delicious items. Beer, Wine & Cider to choose from. Burger is awesome! Broccolini dish was delicious!

Stopped by fifth frame brewing during a work trip. Bath bombs are delightful. Fresh hops are good. Lukr pours are very nice. Had some Carnitas with my beverages. They were very good... One of the best menus I've found in Rochester area--especially the vegetarian menu which is why we chose them. Delicious drinks, bright and modern atmosphere, and super friendly service. Outdoor patio is cute and the indoor seating can accommodate lots of group sizes. We'll definitely come again!

I went back and forth about what to give for a rating so I will just have to break it down. We went out for beer and then food so they get a 4 of 5 stars. The beer was great and the had a decent selection as far as different types. The staff was friendly and engaging from the beginning. She was knowledgeable about the beers. The food was where they really need work. Taste/Flavor- 3 stars Portion size-2.5 stars. The burger was small. Value- 1 star. The burger was not worth $18. The bun was from a value pack and not in line with the price point of the burger. Fries were under cooked. The aioli was good and nice complement to the fries. Looking over the reviews and pictures from 5 years ago, it looks like the food menu was much better. Not sure what happened but they might want to get someone back to revamp the menu.

A wonderful spot on Park Ave with very friendly staff! The area is spacious with a backyard and patio. There are many elements in here that make this Rochester brewery unique! We also recently had an event here for our book club and it was the perfect place for it.

The beer was great and there were a couple different areas inside. Plenty of room and the noise from one area is not as prevalent in the next. Would definitely go back.

Stopped after the 2023 St. Patricks parade with friends from the area. Super cool little place with a great selection of beers to try. We had flights, pints, and great conversations hanging out at Iron Tug. Staff was excellent and attentive. Good crowd from parade traffic, but still comfortable and could hear each other talk. While touring breweries in the area, definitely add this stop.

We love Iron Tug! It has the best Park Ave views from the front porch and awesome, spacious hangout spot in the back. We come with our little one and always find space for the stroller, too! Always a great selection of beer, ciders etc.

If you want excellent beer this is the place to go. Not a ton of choices but they do it right. The names describe what the beers are and they don't miss the mark on the flavors. You can taste the cherry in the cherry chocolate stout and the pineapple upside down cake sour tastes like you are eating it!! They don't serve food but this place is worth a visit.

My husband and I happened upon Iron Tug when celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary, June 10th. We like craft beers, and had never been here. We will definitely be back! The beers are good, service was phenomenal, and the owners are great. Reccomend a stop by if you like craft beer.

We recently hosted our 10-year reunion at Fairport Brewing, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every detail was perfect for our event. The atmosphere was vibrant and cozy, making it the ideal setting for reconnecting with old friends. The selection of craft beers was impressive, but also having the option of other beer, wine and cocktails with something to suit everyone's taste. The brewery's team went above and beyond to accommodate our group, providing excellent service throughout the evening. We couldn't have asked for a better venue to celebrate our reunion. Thank you, for making our event memorable and enjoyable. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time with great beer!

My family hosted our dad’s 70th birthday party at FBC, and the experience was amazing from start to end! Exceptional staff & management. The owner Kristen was always available for communication and helpful ideas! She helped us brainstorm signature cocktails and even made a digital sign to display on the tv that matched our theme! The bartenders were attentive, friendly, skilled, and helped with set up, music, and slideshow on the TV’s & were great with all the guests! The space is great for hosting a party of any size! We enjoyed playing darts and corn hole in the front room also! I would definitely recommend hosting a party here!

I hosted my future daughter-in-law’s bridal shower here with only a two-week window to plan, and I’m so glad I chose this venue! Kristen was incredibly helpful and kind—she got everything booked for us quickly, and I’m so thankful. The space is clean, modern, and has a relaxed, welcoming vibe with great ambience. There’s a consultation fee and a small refundable deposit, but no other rental fees, which was a huge plus. Everyone had a great time! My only wish is that we had a little more time to set up and hang out. Other than that, it was perfect!

I was able to host an awesome 80s prom event this past weekend and what an awesome venue to host it. Kristen, the event coordinator, was helpful with every detail and made planning my event seamless and fun. Also the bartenders Hilary and Mary were fun and engaging with my guests. If you are looking for a place to host an event look no further, this is it!!!!

Had my fiance's 30th birthday surprise here and it was 10000/10!! Staff was so friendly, drinks were delicious, the help along the way of planning the party was so nice, everything was easy and everyone had such a good time!! Thank you thank you! Will definitely have another party here in the future!

A hidden Gem! We hosted a networking event here and everything went great! 5-star customer service! Event Coordinator Kristen was very nice & made sure this was a seamless process. Our Bartender was amazing and helpful. There were no issues and my guests were very impressed and loved the space. Can't wait to host another event here!

This space was amazing! It was stress free to book and to plan my event. Everyone was so helpful and our bartender, Hilery was fantastic. We definitely had more than enough space for all our guests and the venue didn't even need any extra decorations. We had plenty of time to set up and take down. All afternoon my guests were telling me Fairport Brewing was a wonderful place to have a party. I am sure if I need to have a party again, I will definitely come here. The only downside (and it's not really big) is some people had a hard time finding it. In my invite I made sure to tell everyone it is not in Fairport but University Ave. I also wish there was a sign hanging on the front of the venue so people definitely could see it as they drive back. The negative is not even a real negative, just a suggestion. It really was a wonderful time.

What an awesome experience! Oliver, our tour guide, was funny, extremely knowledgeable, personable and we were thrilled with our distillery walk-through. The distillery tour was super interesting and we got to sample some yummy spirits (icing on the cake). My group ordered a bunch of food and cocktails and it was the ULTIMATE Sunday outing. Great food, great drinks, great staff - Rochester is lucky to have you Black Button Distillery! And again, a big thanks to Oliver for making us laugh and teaching this unruly group of misfits some history and what’s involved in running a distillery!

I stopped in after the Greek fest to celebrate my birthday on Monday. I haven't been to the new location since they moved. I had the pretzels and cheese with a delicious Manhattan. The workers were inviting and kind and made my day wonderful. Jason and Blackbutton are doing something special right here in Rochester. I highly recommend stopping in and seeing the beautiful establishment and wonderful products.

What fun to tour and taste the spirits at Black Button Distillery! Oliver was a great tour guide. Such interesting information, right down to the etymology of pertinent words. Unique flavors of gin, delicious bourbon, and everyone in my family will likely be getting the Bourbon Cream for the holidays!

Black Button Distillery is an absolute winner, and that's largely thanks to Erika, their Director of Consumer Engagement. From the moment I started planning my event, Erika was phenomenal, professional, responsive, and incredibly helpful. She walked me through every detail of booking the space, answered all my questions, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. The event space itself is amazing, open, welcoming, and perfect for gatherings. The bartenders were friendly and made my event completely comfortable. The drinks were outstanding, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic. You need to check them out!!!

This is surely a highly recommended stop in Rochester! Oliver did such an amazing job on the guided tour, providing lots of fun facts and history. This made the whole experience that much better! All drinks and food were amazing, including the tradition flatbread.

Excellent brewpub. Good beer line up. Good food to accompany the beers. We had Cosmic IPA and Space Kitty DIPA. They were good beer. Wood burning oven produce nice pretzels, soft and chewey with peanut mustard sauce. Nice, thin crust pizza, and dry rubbed spice wings were great staples to go with beer. It was a nice night out. We will be back to try some more beers when we are in this area again.

The space, staff, food, and drinks are all incredible! It's always a great place. We had the space for a private party and the staff was so attentive.

While visiting Rochester, we went to check out Rohrbach Brewing Company. We sat at the bar, and they had an impressive beer selection. For my first beer, I had the Helles Lager, and then I had the Cosmic Krush Hazy IPA. They were both great beers. We split the pretzels, and it came with peanut butter mustard and beer cheese. This is a cool brewery.

Loved this brewery. Great, friendly atmosphere, beer flights and yummy pizzas. You can take a tour as well. I have been here a few times and try to stop in any time I'm in the area.

The space itself is really beautiful and they have a lot of beers but…the food was meh. I went with a group and tried the nachos (actually very good), baked Brie (fine), fish tacos (not good) and beef on weck (tasted like nothing and felt like chewing cellophane). The service was very good as well! And it is kid friendly with lots of space, games, etc. (ironic to say about a brewery!) So I would recommend if you’re a beer fan and want to try a bunch.

Overall we had a good experience. 6 of us came for a late lunch on a Saturday. There was plenty of free parking and plenty of space inside. The atmosphere inside is really cool, and you can even take a brewery tour if you want. We were able to seat ourselves. The layout is a little awkward. They have tables and hightops that have seating for about 12 people. There are no small tables so we just took up about half the large table. (We couldn’t sit at the bar bc we had littles). Out server was friendly, but wasn’t super quick at getting drinks or refilling empty drinks. The menu is a little smaller but there was still plenty to choose from that would appease a variety of people. They also had a kids menu which was a plus. Randomly they don’t have French fries. Most of us had pizza, and I heard nothing but good things! Each pizza would be good for 2 people. They are a decent size. Would return.

Went here for the first time the other night. Atmosphere was nice a lively. Waitress was nice and made sure we had everything. I got the cauliflower crust pizza, it was good and flavorful. The beer selection was good as well. Took a star off because they kept squeezing people next to us at the long table in the middle which was a little awkward since there was no space between us but everything else was good.

Came here for a birthday celebration and it was amazing! There was a misunderstanding with how I wanted the tables to be set up but the staff (Paige) quickly moved our party over so that we had the upstairs bar area to ourselves. The space was perfect for mingling & taking fun pictures. We also were able to step into the upstairs rooftop lounge and that was amazing! It’s very spacious and there was so much room for everyone and other patrons who wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather & views. The food & drinks were delicious as well! We were also allowed to bring a cake! I highly recommend the Richmond for smaller or large gatherings.

Great spot with excellent food and drinks. It's not pretentious and is a fantastic straight forward food spot. The brick oven pizza was cooked perfectly which seems to not happen around here a lot. Wings were excellent with the Richmond sauce and the service from Paige was awesome. Our second time here and will definitely be back.

I’ve been here twice. And the food and beer have been great! 3rd time is absolutely ridiculous. My friend and I come here after an event and they didn’t give 2 craps about service. We showed up and they were busy. Completely understandable! So they asked us if we wanted to sit outside. And that you order at the bar then they deliver it. What they didn’t mention is that the service was non existent! We got our food and then that’s it! No one stopped or ask if we needed anything! Nothing! So we finished and had to go back to the bar to checkout and they asked if we wanted to tip! Absolutely ridiculous! The person at the bar was doing their job and I do not blame them at all. It’s the establishment that’s a complete joke!

The chicken wings,pizza,fried pickles, and trash plate are all delicious. The cocktails are phenomenal.

The signature cocktails were amazing. The food is great (had the pizza with the hot honey) and the atmosphere is really cool. Don't forget the parking lot next to the building.

10 am appointment. Loaded at 1. Looked at scales on the truck. Even with tandems totally forward the scales on the truck indicated drives way heavy and trailer light. Asked them to please put bulkhead or put single double single pallets in the front like majority of other beer warehouses do. Refused I have to go get scale ticket. Great waste more of my time. Yup, I was right. Over 1,700 pounds over on axle. Now who is going to inform them that since load is headed to Michigan that has a bridge law. If they can't figure out how to load a trailer I'm not thinking they can figure out how to load where the kingpin to center of tandem is a fixed length. Back at 2:30. Think they would rush since they refused to rework when I asked? Nope, one speed, slow. Hoping to get out by 5. Humanity is a thing of the past, they don't care about truck drivers.

- has been over 4 hrs, still waiting - a parking lot has no toilet room, not even a potty - what in the world are they thinking? Put the drivers in a long hrs of waiting and there is no fast food nearby. They do not allow drivers to use their rest room. - there is a potty room in the high fall Terrance parking lot, near the Riverview trail.

Did delivery here, please check the map before coming here, there are 2 entrances, - choose which one is more convenient. Quick check in and unloading.

Great views, and great food. (I LOVED the risotto balls; great vegetarian choice). I also enjoyed the downstairs gift shop and the history of the Genesee brewery​. Really great displays, an interactive photo booth, and even a quiz to test your knowledge!

Went for an early working dinner with beers with management and customers. Good atmosphere, beer, and food. Waitress was attentive, but not overbearing. Got busy as time went by. Only drawback (and resulting 2 stars) was restaraunt management coming by to tell us there was a 2 hour limit on tables and we needed to leave. They want to turn tables rather than foster repeat business. I guess they have enough demand for that approach to work.

I assume different experience for all Trucker’s Appointment 2:30 Check in 23:30 they assign me a door in less then 5 min. Very polite people Directions from West I- 90 E to 490 N to exit 13 follow sign for St Paul str after 2 traffic lights take left on Joseph Ave pass under bridge 12’ 11” ( yes semi 13’ 6”/53 swing doors ) after the bridge immediate left on Ward st it will take you to the main docks of the brewery.

Chicken tasted plain and flavorless. The sauce was at the bottom of the container and no sauce was on the wings, not to mention I ordered extra saucy. I'm glad I didn't tip. Highly upset because I pretty much believed the hype and paid $2 a unflavored wing. Could've went to the corner store and paid less for better.

My food was very bland and my friends food was very dry. While my drink came out instantly, my friend's drink came after our food arrived (after ordering appetizers). I ordered a cocktail and my friend got something in draft. Staff was nice but the food wasn't the best. Dessert was very good.

Spent an absurd amount of money on 15 wings and an order of french fries. Pick up was quick. Fries were raw, didn't even bother tossing the wings in the sauce. Definitely not coming back, the second takeout menu that's been absolute waste of money. (That's the baking sheet we put the fries on at home to finish cooking them, they weren't just cold, they were literally only half cooked.) Food was similarly bad a couple months back but we assumed it was just an off night, at this point I think they just don't care about takeout.

The buffalo wings here are great and so is the sweet sauce too. We had a flat bread pizza which was pretty good! And we also had some clam chowder that was a great appetizer. The beer was awesome. My new go to place for wings.

Ordered wings last week and got them no sauce and little puddle of sauce on the bottom that would barely be enough for 1 wing. Called back immediately and was told that the GM would be calling me for a refund. 5 days later I haven't received a call. Called back and was told that the GM has been in since then... Terrible service. UPDATE: Went back in person and the GM was very nice and gave me a refund and remade my order.... And there was no sauce still (pic without foil)

We both ordered the Shrimp Poboy and it was amazing. The French fries was very delicious. Corn bread was good they just sont watm ot up so that was my negative. Service was A1 and food came out quick. Definitely a nice spot to try out

Good food and lots of wings flavors. Been around a long time and always solid. Good place to bring a group, family or kids for a meal.

NOTE: I promise to remove this terrible review IF you care enough to make things right (I was regular who was eating here 4+ times per week) Sushi585 greatly disappointed me. There are other far superior “all you can eat” sushi restaurants in the Rochester 585 area! They got greedy about honoring their “all you can eat” policy. I love love love fish and would work a hard physical labor job for 10+ hours per day (all day looking forward to getting my warm Miso soup and Yellowtail sashimi). I would always tip well after my meals and treated everyone working at the restaurant with respect. They would cut me off EVERY TIME I went there. Leaving me disappointed, upset and hungry for more fish… If you treated me with respect and fairly I would have (and was) giving Sushi585 the best publicity possible. I talked to a nice young waitress who left to work at a different Japanese restaurant in Rochester and she said they were no good to her as an employee. This girl is so nice and kind too! Anyways if you want to be treated well and served until you are full; please choose a different location in Rochester, New York. P.S. I tired to email you all about the issue before putting up a nasty and truthful review, but I was ignored. P.P.S. It hurt me to have to write this and if you reach out to me personally and promise feed me yellowtail and whatever else until I am full, I will eliminate this review.

My husband and I went here on a date night. We ended up finding street parking in front of the restaurant. We made reservations through Google assistant with no problems but we didn't need reservations it wasn't very busy when we went on a Friday evening at 630pm. We had read some reviews so knew to order on your phone and to add the all you can eat sushi before ordering the food. It was weird to just keep ordering small portions a couple of things at a time but the food came out so quick. Or was nice to keep the food coming at our own pace and not having to wait for a server. Everything we had was fresh made and delicious. My husband ordered 3 orders of the steak skewers. I liked the special rolls but wish there had been more. They had a good selection of alcohol too. We will be back.

Recently had lunch at sushi 585- I think you have to go into knowing you’re going to get the cheapest priced sushi around. Was the sushi bad? Nope- but I would compare to airport quality sushi. The shumai tasted like frozen shumai that was deep fried. The chicken curry, wasn’t good at all. The takoyaki was decent. Service was excellent and friendly. If you’re craving sushi that is the best value around, you will be hard pressed to find a place cheaper. If you’re looking for the best sushi around, this is not the place.

We were seated right away and didn't wait long for our first batch of sushi. Everything was great! We can't wait to come back and try out more rolls.

Quite literally one of the better experiences of my time at a restaurant. Service was fast and efficient. You order something and it is at your table within 3 minutes. If you request a server on your phone, they will be at your table in faster than the blink of an eye. I felt happy here. I felt safe here. And I will be back.

Why would I want to give money to a business that thinks I am there to steal from them? Three of us came for dinner on a Monday night. The restaurant was empty, but it was only 5pm. We knew what we wanted , we have been there before. We were seated right away and pulled out our phones. 2 of us were going to have the all you can eat. Our 3rd guy wanted two specialty rolls that were not available on the AYCE menu. Our waiter said no problem, he would come take his order separately since he couldn't do it through the app. That is when someone who I assume was an owner emerged from the back and said no. He can't order something else, he has to get the AYCE. Between drinks and the two rolls he would have been paying more than us but management, assured we were their to steal from them, wouldn't let him order. He offered to pay up front, nope, wasn't good enough. So we got up and left. Worried about $5 worth of fish they turned away $100 + in business and lost 3 customers for good. I will miss the ambiance, the 4' tall posters treatening dinners that if they don't eat all of the rice they will be charged extra. All the warnings taped to the walls telling me all ways they will charge me more money for various dining infractions . Other than idiots making ridiculous policy the specialty rolls are good, the sashimi ok, the basic rolls... Kinda garbage. My advice, go to Henrietta or Brighton, the food is just as good or better and no one assumes you are their to rip them off. There are tons of all you can eat places. No need to give this place any business. The Ironic thing is they tried to rip off a high end sushi restaurant in Vegas and London with the Samba Sushi name. "585" wasn't the 1st choice. I assume a cease and desist letter prompted the sign/name change. Sure, you are going to get jerks coming into your place and doing stupid stuff but there is no reason to sink to that level. Eventually those are the only people who will continue to be your customers.

Very good restaurant, went with my partner for our anniversary. Employees there were very friendly and helped us figure out how the heck to order (we did the all you can eat dinner) but we got it found out. Great food! Made our anniversary great! Thank you to those at Sushi585!

Great time here on a Thursday afternoon. We walked the Genesee River Trail and headed here afterwards. My wife is not a beer fan and selected a Sauvignon Blanc wine to enjoy. We were able to get a table outside in the sun. The beer choices were amazing. Tons of options!!! We did not order food but there was a party next to us that ordered a wide variety and it smelled wonderful. We will be back.

Music was so loud. We were the only table there around 5 on a Sunday. When I went to the bathroom, there was no soap in the dispenser, but they had watered down soap in bottles for you to use. The service was slow despite us being one of the only tables. The servers were sitting at the bar sipping beer and watching tv. Beers and food were okay but my fries were ice cold.

As of 855pm tonight 8/21/25. I entered this establishment alone hoping to have a Burger and fries and maybe a Beer and watch the game. When I entered their were at least 7 people sitting at the bar and 2 employees working that area. I sat in the seating area at a table for atleast 15min. and watched the employees 2 males look over at me and not speak or come to take my order. I yelled out to one and said are you hoping I go away. One of them says oh I didn't see you over there and were closing anyways. I say this is really sad I was here before with my family and we were treated really nice this is sad. I got up and left then I took photos outside to share on social media. I looked at the closing time and the website says 10pm. I walked back in and showed both of them the time and the older one started to try and tell me another lie but the other employee interrupted and said I'm sorry I'll take full responsibility I got caught up talking to the people at the bar and should of spoke to you and came over. So I said it's just poor customer service and I'll be sharing my experience here as a professional in the area. I will never subject myself to that place ever again. Disgusting behavior to treat anyone like that.

In the middle of a change over of some sort, so their supply was less than normal but still had plenty of beers available. Bartender was fantastic and on top of it taking care of the whole place no issue. Great location, great parking, and with the doors open on the front awesome fresh air. A bit echoy when busy but not terrible. Did not eat there so no comment on food but it looked good.

I have never written a bad review, but our experience was so bad that I thought it was warranted. So many things went badly. Firstly, it took probably 10 minutes to get a menu. Another 10-15 to be asked what we'd like. No water brought until probably 30 minutes in. Ordered the vegetarian option, the black bean patty, on the menu, and was told they only had chicken. The cocktail had moldy blueberries. We waited 45 minutes for our food, and then was told the bartender gave our food to someone else. We thought after having been seated for well over an hour at this point, that we'd be offered a discount or free drinks or something, but we barely even got an apology. Waited another 20 minutes at least before we finally got the food we ordered, both simple items from the starters section of the menu. Then waited well after having finished eating for the check to be brought. I would be understanding if the place was busy, but only about 1/4 of the tables were taken. Thankfully the food was pretty tasty, but after having waited so long for it, it wasn't very enjoyable. Overall, just a terrible experience.

I placed an order around 9:45pm because online says they are open to 11pm. Get a text at 10:17 saying my food was ready. When i get there i walk in and they said they have been closed for an hour i said i placed an order online and it said it was ready. 3 different workers just continued cleaning while i just stood there trying to figure how im going to get a refund for my $50. I just walked away. Tried calling the next day but the number says it’s not in service. Get it together people. Where was the sympathy?!?

I went with a group of friends to try this restaurant and it was mediocre at best. For a Saturday night it was pretty empty. We sat outside and noticed there was no one sitting inside maybe two people at the bar. The food was very disappointing. The pizza was undercooked and was giving frozen and reheated. For the price of the 10’ pizza I was expecting more. The wings and Mac and cheese were alright, but nothing special. Overall the service was good because it was empty and not much going on. I will most likely not be returning.

Melo’s a solid go-to spot. The avocado toast and sandwiches are always really good, and their lattes are consistently great, always smooth and well made every time I’ve been. It’s a nice place to hang out for a bit, whether you’re getting some work done or just reading a book. The vibe is calm and not too loud, and there’s usually plenty of space to sit. Definitely one of my favorite low-key spots for coffee and a bite.

Our tab was $39.42 for two chicken sausage breakfast sandwiches, an iced latte and an orange juice. This was the first time we came in and I loved the paint and decor and the vibes, the service was also great. We were disappointed by the sandwiches though and took one bite and ended up throwing them away. The sausage was super sweet and the English muffins had so much cornmeal/ semolina on them that it really just wasn’t the savory breakfast we expected.

I went to Melo for breakfast burritos and coffee and had a really disappointing experience. I paid over $50 for just two burritos and a coffee, which is already overpriced, and then had to wait about 15 minutes only for my order to be made wrong—even though I specifically asked for no meat on my burrito. When I asked them to remake it, it took another 10–15 minutes. On top of that, the place was very dirty: sauces on the floor, eggshells on the ground, and just an overall unclean environment. Definitely not worth the price, and I won’t be coming back.

Everything here is made from scratch and it’s always original, unique, and consistently delicious. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, and they do an amazing job keeping such a small place running so smoothly, it’s truly impressive. No wonder there’s always a line out the door. Absolutely worth the wait!

I pass this place daily on my way to work. I finally stopped in and now I'm in trouble. I ordered the seasonal banana bread latte. It's fabulous! Smooth and not over sweet. If you love avocado toast...get here! My picture doesn't do it justice.

I've been coming by the shop about twice a week, weekday afternoons, for over a year. The baristas are super friendly and usually know what I'm going to order. The iced coffee is the best in town, imo, and is pretty inexpensive. I haven't ordered much off the food menu, but the egg sandwich is amazing, and they have no problem accommodating vegetarians.

Melo is my favorite! I appreciate that they have iced coffee versus cold brew or pouring hot coffee over ice. The prices aren't crazy, the vibe is fun, and the baristas are super sweet and always remember my order. I admit I haven't tried their real food items, but I love grabbing a Red Fern cookie every once in a while.

Great cider with tons of flavors (excellent based flavors). Thursdays and secret menu (Adam) are amazing. Traveling 5+ hours for this place is always worth it...well my liver and wallet disagree but still...

Came by right at opening and ordered one if everything. Everything was good. Some of it was really really good. I really loved how the sweetness/dryness didn't vary a whole lot between ciders. There were so sickeningly sugary ones and no vinegars trying to pass themselves off as ciders. They've really got it dialed in. And the young lady who was working that morning made things extra fun. She was super personable, made really helpful suggestions, and we had some funny exchanges.

We like blue toad we have often had their cider at bars and at home. We went to the new tasting room and liked it. It is off the main drag with both indoor and outdoor seating. The customer service was great and they had a good selection of ciders and even a few beers.

Very good adult ciders. Approximately 14 to choose from. The woman at the bar was very helpful, helped me pick 8. Flights were 6, 8, 10, or 12 options. The pretzel was great, especially enjoyed the honey mustard. I reccomend trying the Amber. The lilac though was my go to on a hot day as it just felt refreshing. Overall, a large clean, not too crowded venue. The woman did say they are pet friendly, but I unfortunately didn't see any dogs today. I will definitely be back. Great location, right next to Palmers.

Great selection of ciders (and even a few beers), inviting ambiance and next level service. They have a awesome rotation of seasonal flavors so there's always something new ro try. They often have random food items ordered for patrons and also offer giant pretzels, nachos, and popcorn regularly. The flights are six 6oz pours, so be careful if you're a lightweight, haha! The seasonal waterlemon cider was amazing!

Had a great time here with my girlfriend! The bartender was super friendly and happy to help us decide what we wanted in our cider flight. We will definitely be back here soon! Their seasonal ciders were really good and I am excited to see what comes out next!

This was the BEST cider house I have been to. Robin was working and she is by far the friendliest, most welcoming bartender I have ever met. Randomly the Celiac’s meetup group came in and it was a blast to talk with others who have a gluten intolerance. I will be back here many more times and hopefully Robin will be working! Seriously, if you have not been here, go!

My first time here! Came for the M80s cover band-they were great! Love the outdoor ambiance. Pizza logs were ok. $9 bucks for a seltzer.

This used to be our most favorite summer bar. We would hangout for hours. This place used to be packed on a nice day, the last two times here has been dead. The prices are so high now that it’s impossible to enjoy drinking with friends. Please lower your prices so that everyone can enjoy a fun summer bar! We miss the old Rochester Beer & Park!

Never tried the food here yet. The atmosphere is very throwback 70’s-2000’s spin. College life feel. Drinks are good. Plenty of space to move around. Music is good as well.

This place is awesome! Such a cool set up with a great selection of drinks. Food wise we got the garbage plate, grilled cheese, mac n cheese, BLT, Pizza logs and Jalapeño pretzel. Only minor complaints are the pretzel needed a dip since it was dry and the grilled cheese was slightly undercooked. Our bartender was cool but she is moving to Miami soon. Hope to be back soon.

Cute place for sure! The gal behind the counter was pleasant and talkative. Cheap beer deals!! Ordered a BLT and a bologna sandwich that took an hour to come out. Probably the worst part of the entire experience. If they get their kitchen together it would be 5 stars.

It's a really chill place that sells all NY items. The road work on State Street is almost done, but there is plenty of parking in the lot off of Fitzhugh in the back. The rear entrance from the parking lot is the white door.

Hidden gem in Rochester. If you enjoy great wine, beer, etc. in a classy environment without the loud club vibes, this is the place. Plus everything on the menu is sourced in New York State.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 despite the name, this place is incredibly queer friendly and is a very fun place to hang out. Its also minority-owned. Bartenders are always very sweet and the owner is usually around and is a fun guy to talk to. Food and drinks are good and decently priced and its an all-around cozy atmosphere.

What a great experience. We ordered beer, wine, and charcuterie board. All three were great. The owner was very nice and really put in the effort to make a memorable experience. We will be back!

This place is fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxing, warm, and inviting. The drinks and food are locally sourced in NY, and are delicious. The whole place has a local, fun flavour to it. We ordered the panini and it was the most delicious pastrami panini we’ve ever had. There’s a great selection of NY local wines and craft beers. The owner is chill and fun to chat with too! Definitely recommend for anyone looking to have a fun and social time with friends!

The ambiance is fantastic, and the food is delicious. However, securing a bowling lane can be a bit challenging especially on the weekends. The bar staff and the gaming counter staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It’s an excellent spot for a date night or a family gathering.

Very nice place to have fun with friends and family! There’s two bars, freshly done pizzas, a huge bowling alley, pool table, arcade games and other fun backyard like games. There’s an outdoor area with fire pits and the atmosphere is very nice! Only reason for the 4 stars is that bowling was overpriced ($50) but that could be fixed if you go in with a big group. I was impressed by the size of the place and how busy it was. It was a nice experience!

Cute little hangout place. A bit on the pricey side but loads of fun. I've only ever gone to birthday parties here but it's always a good time and who doesn't enjoy bowling? I love that they sometimes have live music outside as well! Added bonus that it's kid friendly aside from the bar area up front.

We played bowling and then ate for a friends birthday, it was a huge success. Would recommend. The food was very good, we ordered the lamb, halloumi, feta pizza and babaganoush. Most of us enjoyed our drinks, they aren’t very sweet, but are very one of a kind and exquisite. The server was super nice. The water was delicious! Overall slightly overpriced but worth it!

Really love this place! We’ve been twice to bowl, once to eat. Minor issue with the screens not working, but they comped our visit - it’s not about falling down, it’s how you recover, and they were so nice and proactive and apologetic. Service in the restaurant was great. Food is good. Lots of larger groups have parties here, and during the winter months they have an awesome flea market on Sundays!

Had been to this place for the 2024 New Year party, and it was really great! We played bowling for a while and enjoyed the pizza and fries. Then, I enjoyed the live music till the clock ticked 12AM. This place is really great for hangout. It has definitely become our hangout place already!

Went for Sunday brunch. I thought it was all very good, but not perfect. We got a lot of items. The lemon waffle was delicious and delicate, though very sweet, I couldn't have more than a small amount. The crispy potatoes were wonderful and the dipping sauces were delicious. The pork schnitzel itself was a little underwhelming, but it was in a delicious bed of some kind of sauce. The lamb pandensal was very tasty but a bit salty. The crab dip was wonderful. The breakfast pizza seemed small and maybe on the dry side, but was tasty overall. The house donut was a perfect treat to end the meal with. Their coffee was pretty good too, it's nice to see that there's attention to details like that. I also enjoyed the Pimms cup I had. One thing I found quite disappointing was the khachapuri. I've had Georgian cheese bread before and this was not it. The dough was flat, dense, and chewy. It felt like they tried to use some kind of pastry dough maybe? It felt undercooked. The bread is supposed to have a nice crispy crust and a bready, fluffy filling.

This place smelled of moth balls upon entering, its dingy as all hell and the poor bartender was overwhelmed from a pre concert crowd but this place was AWESOME. The wings and other fried goodies were excellent. It may be a biker bar some days, an Irish bar some days and possibly a music venue on others. I'm definitely gonna watch their concert list and make the drive back. If I lived in Rochester this place would be my home base. Free parking in back. If you're familiar with (or from) Buffalo, think old Pink meets Tudor lounge meets Brick Bar. With PARKING! If drinking mixed drinks order doubles. They use pint glasses...

Mixed feeling on this place. Food was good but very priced for what we got. Really the service was not the best and my lobster was over cooked which makes it tough to chew. I don't plan on returning since I go out for the service and it wasn't good.

The vibe is always nice when I go and the staff are nice people. Parties held there by TNS are always nice. Those are mostly reggae. Pictures posted are from 3 different nights.

It's been a Rochester staple for years. I've seen many great bands there over the years. Drink prices are great. Ample parking in the rear of the building. Great staff. May it never close

The scene there changes quite a bit, depending on what is scheduled. Wednesday nights, best food on the west side of Rochester. Short order food is also great. Great neighborhood joint that appeals to folks from far and wide.

Excellent service, great selection of wine (the flights were a wonderful element), and tasty food. As a main dish I had the saffron spaghetti with squid, pomodoro, calabrian chilies, and basil — so good! The cardamom honey, whipped ricotta and lemon with Flour City bread was also pristine. Will definitely be back.

Great little place right across from Village Gate and steps away from the Memorial Art Gallery. The wine selection is excellent and staff extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed a couple glasses of recommended white wine and a small delicious appetizer of roasted zucchini with goat cheese and blueberries. That was well crafted and presented nicely. Highly recommended and we will be back.

First time visiting and we had a fabulous time! Mike greeted us as we entered and explained the gorgeous chandelier and showed us to our seats at the bar. Taylor provided excellent service and recommendations. I had the Bubbles flight and Bruce enjoyed the Goodman flight. The food was delicious! Definitely recommend the crispy chicken sandwich - spicy, fresh, and tasty! We finished with Port and some chocolates. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. Beautiful decor; great conversations, personalities & service. Kitchen was on point. Perfect spot to enjoy fine wine and food with friends. Kudos to Mike and the team. Looking forward to our next visit!

A Royal Evening at Carnegie Cellars: The Best Dining Experience We’ve Ever Had Every time we’ve visited Carnegie Cellars, we’ve left feeling special — but during a recent visit to celebrate a career milestone for my husband, we were truly treated like royalty. This wasn’t just a meal — it was a celebration of care, attention, and joy, orchestrated by a team that clearly loves what they do. The food, as always, was exceptional. Each dish was perfectly prepared, and the wine pairings — expertly recommended by the incredibly knowledgeable staff — introduced us to varietals and vineyards we’d never discovered before. We’ve made some of our favorite wine discoveries thanks to their thoughtful guidance. But what made this evening unforgettable were the people: Aime, Erica, Mike (the owner), Lauren, Phil, and Chef — each played a role in creating a night we’ll treasure forever. From the complimentary champagne toast to the celebratory table flower, to the countless small touches that made us feel seen and appreciated, every detail was infused with warmth and joy. What stands out most is the atmosphere of genuine fun and camaraderie among the staff. That joy is contagious. When the team is having a good time, you feel it as a guest. It’s the kind of place where hospitality isn’t just a job — it’s a shared experience, and you’re invited into it. My husband and I both have experience in hospitality and dining, so we don’t say this lightly: this is the best restaurant staff we’ve ever encountered. We’ve always been impressed — even when we haven’t visited in a while, they remember us. But our most recent visit set a new bar for what hospitality can be. Carnegie Cellars is a gem. We’re so grateful for the memories, the care, and the joy. We can’t wait to return.

This is our first visit to Carnegie Cellars, and it won't be our last. We were able to get a seat outside without reservations. The service was knowledgeable and efficient. They recommended a good Spanish wine after listening to our preferences. The menu had a wide variety of vegetarian choices. All 7 were delicious with lots of flavor. The Dan Dan Noodles with tofu "meat" sauce were especially good. I'll get extra to go next time if I can't get the recipe! Thank you for a lovely evening.

Went on 8/26/25 with a group of 5 for wine and snacks; my first time here. The service was excellent as was the food. All who ordered wine were happy with their respective selections. We shared the following snacks which we passed around until nothing was left: Flour City Bread, Hummus, Fries, Stone Fruit Salad, Farm Lettuce Salad, and Dan Dan Noodles. I'm looking forward to going back.

My wife and I were in Rochester for family business and found this place next to the Memorial Art Gallery. Service was great and everything we ordered was delicious. Watch out for the fries, they're enough for 3-4 people, and really good. They are actually frits. They had an Italian wine by the glass that was very good (sorry, can't remember the name, but I am sure they will have more!). We really enjoyed the vibe and our waitress, great sense if humor. If you live in Rochester and haven't been to Carnegie Cellars, shame on you!

This is a great place and we found by accident while exploring the local area around the Museum of Play. The atmosphere is very open, friendly, and easy going with the staff making everyone smile and feel like regulars. The place seemed very popular with locals as evidenced by the small groups of bachelorette parties coming in staying for a bit and moving on. The beer is frankly, beautiful and a work of art. The food is good and we ordered the “trash plates” not understanding that it was going to be a poutine-style affair. Very, very, good and not disappointed, just a lot of food and it was a bit of a surprise.

Stopped by Friday at lunch with a buddy to check it out. Great food menu: had a Blue burger and fries. Food, especially the fries, was great and priced reasonably. Had a flight of six beers and enjoyed them all. Especially liked the Kraken IPA and Belgian strong ale.

I love Spotted Octopus. I go to the Buffalo location regularly and finally got the chance to see their Rochester location. Food was excellent and so is the beer. The staff are very friendly over here in Rochester. I can't recommended this place enough. Their Oktoberfest beer is great (I forget the actual name of it though) and kinda wish it was a regular on their menu. The rotating list of taps are great though.

They were not busy, but it was jazz fest, so I assume the crowds were still watching the concert. The staff were kind and attentive, and engaged in casual conversation, and made recommendations for a traveler like myself. The flight was a nice option for someone who has a hard time committing. It was reasonably priced, and I like that they offered crowlers (or 16 oz cans) to go. I purchased a 4 pack for $14 which is a steal!

Loved the beer choices and the sampler was fun! The food menu was impressive and I will happily drive 1-1/2 hours just to get another pretzel and dip!!! Service was excellent and the staff did a great job describing beers and helping me get to my favorites. They were knowledgeable and super friendly. Perfect summer outdoor seating as well, amazing brewery!

I went here with a group of friends (about 15 of us). I personally had the trash plate and the cheesecake dip and it was very good. The pretzels, chicken fingers, fries, and wings were also very good. Prices are very reasonable. I plan on coming more often to try more of the menu.

A fun hangout place! I was looking for a pub quiz location to hang out with my friends while I was back in town for a night. Quiz was good. Very spacious venue so you don't need to rush there to grab a table. The spicy seltzer drink was great, nice to have an option that isn't blah blah fruit flavor. My only gripe is that I couldn't order a garbage plate bc there was no vegetarian option - just hot dog hot dog meat burger - the other garbage plate place always had vegetarian options and it's great! So I had the jackfruit tacos instead, they were decent though mustard on tacos is a little far for me 😂
