The Susan B. Anthony Museum & House is a pivotal part of the history of Rochester, New York. It preserves Anthony's life and work as a leading advocate for women's rights and equal pay. The museum features interactive exhibits that provide an in-depth look at her political career and the impact she had on society. The site of her 1872 arrest is also featured prominently in the museum, providing visitors with an understanding of this pivotal moment in American history.
Wow! Great tour with Jackie. Home had many original Susan B Anthony artifacts. Fascinating tour, great gift shop and friendly staff.

The Susan B. Anthony Museum & House is a beautifully kept piece of history in our own backyard. My wife, her cousin and I decided to head over on a sunny and hot Saturday afternoon. We went into the museum to buy tickets and browsed for about 10 minutes until the next tour time started. Armani was our guide and she was lovely. She shared many fun facts along with the history that made our guided tour fun. I had no idea why Susan was always pictured so you only saw her side profile and now I know. The home is filled with many historic items, some from when Susan lived there while others reflect the time period of when Susan was alive. The time and energy that went into the house when she lived there is astounding. The third floor was one of my favorite areas. The lady with the alligator purse nursery rhyme was a personal favorite that I had never heard before my tour. Both the museum and the house are air conditioned. We ended up visiting the cemetery afterward to visit both Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass’ graves. Maps are provided at the museum if you are interested in doing that after a tour.

Great museum! The tour guide was great, and I learned a lot!

We had a lovely time at this museum! We bought tickets in advance for the house tour, but it wasn’t busy so you probably don’t need to. The tour was quick and succinct, but we felt like we saw everything and learned a good amount! Our tour guide was knowledgeable, great with engaging some of the younger kids on the tours, and did a great job relating Susan B. Anthony’s historical work to modern times and events happening in our country today.
Emily O — Google review
Both my husband and I just want to say thank you for keeping her legacy alive. I've wanted to visit the museum for a few years. But being self-employed got in the way. We made our reservations online and showed up early. Private and street parking are available. Even your property caretaker was a wonderful man. Since we were early, he asked if we wanted to visit the park down the street where we could see a statue of Susan with Frederick Douglas having tea. We did stop later. Our tour guide was amazing 👏 to remember so many details of a person's life and to inform us with such energy and excitement. I felt like Susan was going to walk inside any minute. The passion and wisdom were truly felt. We both have issues with steps, and she waited patiently and offered a chair for both of us. The house is filled with multiple pieces owned by both Susan and her mother. I could mention so much more! If you believe ♥️ in equal rights for everyone, this place is for you. I'm so sorry I can't remember our guides name 😔

We had a wonderful tour with Emma, our very knowledgeable guide!

We did not take the house tour. The museum is tiny, but the display is thorough - Four walls of a small room covered with info boards, containing photos and snippets of her historical timeline. I read everything slowly enough to absorb and finished in about 30 minutes. So, 5stars for a quick and free event stop and the friendly reception from the lady at the front desk. We were on our way to the airport and it was perfect for the time we had to spare. There is also a reception area, gift shop and restroom.

The George Eastman Museum, located in Rochester, NY, is a multifaceted museum dedicated to preserving the legacy of Kodak co-founder George Eastman. The museum features a Colonial Revival mansion where visitors can tour and take photos in the gardens. Inside, there are current exhibitions showcasing contemporary photographers' work and a permanent collection of photography equipment and images dating back to primitive daguerreotypes. The museum also houses a theater for rare film screenings.
We had our wedding ceremony at the George Eastman Museum on 5/25/25, and it was truly a dream come true! From the very first day I met our coordinator, Allen Buell, I knew we were in great hands. Allen is not only prompt, thorough, and incredibly communicative, but he’s also personable and has a wonderful sense of humor—qualities that made the entire (sometimes stressful!) wedding planning process so much easier and more enjoyable. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, especially in May when the purple wisteria is in full bloom and the gardens are pristine and beautifully manicured. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the breathtaking scenery and the elegant atmosphere. I would highly recommend the George Eastman Museum for not only weddings but any special event. The combination of a gorgeous setting and exceptional staff made our day unforgettable!

We loved the tour! It takes about 45 minutes and I strongly recommend it. The mansion is well-preserved and you'll definitely feel the atmosphere that this place had a century ago.

The George Eastman Museum is an absolute gem in Rochester, and my recent visit was outstanding from start to finish. The museum itself is beautifully preserved, blending the elegance of George Eastman’s historic home with fascinating exhibits on photography, cinema, and innovation. What truly made the experience memorable, however, was the docent-led tour. Our guide was not only knowledgeable but also engaging, weaving together history, personal anecdotes, and fun facts that brought Eastman’s story to life. They had a wonderful way of explaining details about the house, gardens, and Eastman’s legacy in a way that kept everyone in the group interested. I especially enjoyed being taken into the garden, where the docent, Marianne highlighted design elements and shared thoughtful insights I would have missed if I had toured on my own. It gave the whole visit a personal touch and made the history feel vibrant and accessible. If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend taking a docent-led tour—it elevates the entire experience and gives you a much deeper appreciation for both George Eastman and the museum’s collections.

The Eastman Museum was the highlight of our visit to Rochester! The entire place is beautifully maintained and spotless, with stunning interiors that truly reflect its history. Our tour guide was amazing—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience so much richer with their insights. There’s also a cozy café and engaging activities for kids, which makes it great for families. The museum is fully accessible for visitors using wheelchairs and offers large free parking, which was very convenient. Overall, it was the best activity we did in Rochester, and I highly recommend visiting!
Naz A — Google review
This was a great museum and mansion that far exceeded my expectations. As someone else also said, the guided tour is what makes it fun. The stories about George Eastman are eye opening and personal. I really enjoyed looking at all the cameras, video cameras, and technology through time. Eastman was a genius! His home and gardens were so different from other homes of 5he early 1900’s.
Shelly P — Google review
I love history and this place is full of it! The mansion is in pristine condition. Definitely get a tour for the docent was excellent. The gardens are beautiful, as you can see we had a perfect day for seeing the grounds. The Eastman Kodak museum is connected to the mansion...so much film history. Read the description of the large camera pic I posted, really interesting.

Amazing museum, house and gardens! We were lucky to hear the organ being played which was very pleasant and making the atmosphere special. Beautifully preserved rooms. They also have a cafe inside the museum. Plenty of parking.
JitkaKac — Google review
Very kind staff, beautiful property and nicely arranged historical rooms. We found the experience overall not worth the price - especially on the photography/video side. That said, we aren’t huge connaisseurs in this field. Maybe better suited to photography aficionados or if you follow a guided tour?

The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester is a captivating destination that celebrates the world of toys and games. It houses the largest collection of toys, dolls, and play-related artifacts, including the prestigious National Toy Hall of Fame. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits like Reading Adventureland and Sesame Street, as well as enjoy a pint-size market and an indoor butterfly garden. The museum also features vintage pinball machines and classic arcade games for all ages to enjoy.
I highly recommend. I was surprised how large it was and how interactive it was. There were so many games (board games ann video games) you could play and so many other interactive things. Great for kids of all ages and adults as well. It had so many nostalgia items from toys dating back to the 1800's to more recent. We went on a Monday and it was not busy, we were there almost 5 hours and probably still didn't see everything. We ate at the food court and got pizza and a chicken salad wrap and both were really good.
Tabitha R — Google review
The Strong National Museum of Play completely lives up to its name — it’s pure fun, learning, and nostalgia rolled into one. We went as a family with both adults and kids, and every one of us had different favorites — which says everything about how much there is to do here. The exhibits are hands-on, creative, and thoughtfully designed, from the classic toys and video games to the pretend play areas and immersive displays. You could easily spend the whole day here and still find new things to explore. The only downside was that the bathrooms could have been cleaner — no soap first thing in the morning and a few stalls looked like they hadn’t been checked since the night before. Hopefully just a timing issue, because everything else was fantastic. The staff were friendly, the layout was well-organized, and the entire experience was memorable from start to finish. We can’t wait to come back — we’re planning for another full day!
Marina S — Google review
This is the best place for kids (and me!)😁 It has the largest areas of play for kids at different ages. It entertains, teaches and inspires my kids. It's such a cool place and I would love to come here a few times a week! I wished the membership was cheaper though.
Bunny O — Google review
Best children’s museum I’ve ever been to! We stopped on our way back from the Midwest, going to New England, and my husband is already wanting to plan a trip to Rochester next year, just to spend more time at the museum! My son who was 1.5yo when we visited, LOVED it! I like how there’s activities for kids at every age (even adult nostalgia), and there’s even an outside area for kids to run around in (enclosed).
Emily — Google review
Outstanding National Treasure in the middle of Rochester! I went to the museum with my 4 year old granddaughter on Monday when senior rates are in effect. It is not cheap and family membership makes more sense than paying admission only a few times a year. It takes several days to appreciate the enormous amount of exhibits housed at the Strong. Parking is $10 on top of admission without a membership. I have been to art and science museums around the world and this museum blew me away. Can't say enough good things about it. Go, just go. Had such a great time that I didn't take many pictures; I was too enthralled with the displays and activities for young and old.
Gerald S — Google review
Had a great experience at the Strong Museum! My kids had a blast—there were tons of fun activities for them. I especially enjoyed seeing the classic games from the ’90s, like the pinball machines. Brought back memories! Pretty sure the new generation has no idea how to play some of those, but it was fun showing them.
Lani O — Google review
This was the first time visiting and well worth it. The history of games is deep and will keep you very entertained. The staff was very friendly and the food choices varied. I would have liked access to a reference room with books and possibly a game software catalog. Definitely worth visiting again. Great museum for one or the entire family.
Elliot G — Google review
This was our second time visiting with our son. First time he was 2 years old and he had a great time. This visit he's now 7 years old and was able to enjoy different parts of the museum that cater to his age. He even got to have fun in some of the same sections he did as a 2 year old. This museum is really one of my favorites. It's fun for the whole family, not just the little ones. The history of video games and the history of board games really stands out for me. Very clean and easy to navigate. Highly recommend! My son would also like to add his words: "Most museums we only go to once, but this museum is far away from us, and we want to go to it a lot of times. The Strong Museum of Play is really fun. I love all the sections and could spend a whole day there. Can't wait to go back!"

The Memorial Art Gallery, located in Rochester, is a must-visit for art and history enthusiasts. The museum boasts a vast collection spanning over 5,000 years of history on a 14-acre campus. With more than 12,000 objects in its permanent collection, including works by renowned artists like Rembrandt and Monet, the gallery offers a well-balanced representation of art through the ages. Visitors can explore everything from mummy relics and antiquities to contemporary exhibitions.
A very fun time! The Gallery has a wide breadth of media covered from ancient Greek and Egyptian works to a large hall of contemporary pieces - many by local artists. There is even an immense pipe organ located on the second floor encompassing an entire wall of the largest gallery in the old portion of the building. It's definitely a fun day trip, especially if you're a fan of art that ties into local history.
GeneralFlagg15 — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to the Memorial Art Gallery. It has a decent and diverse collection that’s worth exploring. However, a couple of things could be improved. Many paintings on the first floor didn’t have any descriptions, which made it hard to fully appreciate them. Also, the ancient Middle East section is placed in a bad spot in the museum. Besides, it has very beautiful manuscripts and relics, but the lack of lighting didn’t do them justice (shown in one of the photos). Still, overall a nice place to spend a few hours.
Muhammad Λ — Google review
A gem of a place. I went knowing very little about the Gallery, other than it was organized thematically. I found works that I've only seen online. To say that my heart felt deep happiness doesn't describe that visceral feeling when art touches you. It's different for everyone. And indeed, there is something for everyone! Many time periods, styles and regions are represented: thematically, by countries, techniques and centuries. The presentation on the Italian Baroque Organ was marvelous. To be surrounded by the genre paintings, made it easier to imagine that this was part of daily life. Be sure to check the time 3pm on the actual date, not the general description that incorrectly says 3:30pm.

We love this museum both inside and out! We have taken so many pictures in their outdoor sculpture park! We most recently went for their Pride celebration. They have scavenger hunts for the kids both inside and outside! The Rotating gallery is always worth checking out! ;)

Well arranged and comprehensive gallery for a medium-sized city. Particularly great selection of Renaissance paintings, some great post-impressionist works. The organ is spectacular. Stunning building as a backdrop. Great display of local, contemporary artists.

A beautiful and well balanced collection. A must see. Larger than one would expect so give yourself enough time to appreciate its offerings.

While I enjoyed all the available art this is the piece that truly spoke to me. I am AuDHD and when I saw this I was like hey..... Thats my brain! It felt so validating to see this representation display in such a great place as the Memorial Art Gallery and I would be willing to bet many others do too.

Nestled in the heart of Rochester, New York, Mount Hope Cemetery is a serene and historic site that dates back to 1838. As the first municipal Victorian cemetery in the United States, it boasts an array of stunning marble and stone monuments set amidst tranquil woodlands and beautifully landscaped gardens. This remarkable resting place is not only listed on both the New York State Register of Historical Places and the National Register of Historic Places but also serves as a final home for many notable figures such as Susan B.
Listed in the National Register of Historical Places. One of the must visit spots in Rochester, NY. Great place for hiking 🥾 and biking 🚴‍♂️ Dog friendly 🐶 🐩 Home of the burial sites of famous Americans-Rochesterians Susan B. Anthony and Fredrick B.Douglas .

A godsend during Covid as I used to live nearby and spent most afternoons strolling around the cemetery. It really is a magnificent place! You can easily gather the history of Rochester from Mount Hope Cemetery if you play attention.
Ro — Google review
What has happened to this beautiful cemetary? The upkeep and landscaping are awful. Tall grass between and around headstones, I counted easily 25 knocked over or broken stones just to the left of the entrance! It looks like an abandoned spooky movie set. This used to so well maintained and historic part of Rochester. What a disappointment when visiting Rochester! Please take the vandalism seriously, these are people's family members!
Amelia L — Google review
Among others, the Mount Hope Cemetery is the final resting place of women's rights activist Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906) and abolitionist Frederick Douglass (1817-1895). It is 196 acres in size and contains some 350,000 interments. It was founded in 1838. The cemetery is very drivable (at low speed, of course) and that's a good thing as the more famous graves are some distance apart. Please be respectful when you visit - it is an active cemetery and there are people here laying family members to rest.
Bruce K — Google review
This is a beautiful cemetery with fantastic landscape of trees and graves. Many famous historical figures. I could wander around in here for hours, that's for sure! So peaceful!
Theresa J — Google review
The guided tour through the cemetery was very informative and beautiful. There were many stops to talk about different people and their contributions to Rochester. The tour had some "off path" areas, but much of it was on a gravel path and easy to navigate. The Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery is a wonderful nonprofit organization to help restore the cemetery and maintain the stones. The tour was 90 minutes and costs $15. They have various tours throughout the season and we are themed! Worth checking out! Sarah our tour guide was very nice and informative, she kept it interesting and kept everyone engaged. The cemetery is open daily for walking through to enjoy nature. There are paved paths throughout that would be easy to navigate with strollers or wheelchairs!
Laura P — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking. Visited for the first time in early November to pray for the dead. The foliage and the entire cemetery was picture-perfect. On Voting Day, prepare to leave your sticker for Susan B. Anthony. Oh, and definitely wear your walking shoes!
Mary C — Google review
My family has had a plot in Mt Hope Cemetery since 1958 so I have been there often.. We have nine family members resting there. I cannot properly describe my disappointment with the upkeep of the cemetery over the past year. Today, toppled gravestones which appear to be caused by vandals, over grown grass between many, many headstones. The cemetery is no longer a place of beauty and serenity. Besides this being my family's resting place, it is a National Landmark. Shame on Rochester for letting it settle into disarray. I am saddened and angry.

The RMSC (Rochester Museum & Science Center) is a three-floor learning center that offers hands-on exhibits for kids and a planetarium showcasing films and star shows. The museum features the newly rejuvenated Strasenburgh Planetarium, providing immersive outer space journeys inside its four-story dome. With a focus on history, humanity, and scientific achievement, the center offers captivating exhibits like the Electricity Theater's dancing lightning and monthly simulator rides.
The service was exceptional, with friendly staff available to assist and answer questions. One of the highlights was the short line for the entrance and not crowded space which made it easy to explore without feeling rushed. The variety of exhibitions was truly impressive. From fascinating displays on the history of Native American and African American contributions to science, to engaging Lego, Music creation and mechanics exhibits, there was something for everyone. Each section was well-curated and offered a unique perspective that educated and entertained. Overall, this museum is Rochester, NY gem for anyone interested in science and history.

The museum always delivers! It provides many always changing experiences and setups. My children love running around learning and playing here. There was a themed event happening this weekend which they do often and it added even more fun to the mix. There were vendors and tables set up to learn about things in our local community. Always clean and refreshing. Would being my kids again and again.
Erika S — Google review
Nothing too fancy to see here. The museum has three floors, but most of the interesting stuff is on the second floor. General admission is $23, and the senior/student discount is just $1 less, which really doesn’t make much sense. For this price, I didn’t feel it was worth it. Compared to all the science museums that I've seen, this was honestly my least favourite! The souvenir shop was also disappointing, very limited selection, and I couldn’t literally find anything I actually wanted to buy.

We had a great time visiting the Rochester Museum & Science Center and the Strasenburgh Planetarium! It’s an amazing spot for families, especially with curious kids who love to explore and learn through hands-on fun. The museum itself is packed with interactive exhibits — from exploring science and technology to diving into local history and nature. It was super engaging and educational without feeling like school work. The Strasenburgh Planetarium was a real highlight. We caught a show in the dome theater, and it was both relaxing and awe-inspiring. The presentation was easy to follow for all ages. It definitely sparked a lot of space-related questions on the ride home! The staff was friendly and patient, and everything felt clean and well-maintained. There’s a small café and a gift shop. I’ve noticed some families brought lunch from home and ate in the café area, but we drove about 4 minutes away to grab fast food. Overall, it’s a great place to spend a day learning and having fun as a family. Highly recommend if you’re in the Rochester area, especially on a rainy day or when you’re looking for something meaningful to do with the kids! Clean, educational and fun. Highly recommend!

I love it here and look forward to going again! There was so much great information on display in creative ways. While I went on my own, as an adult, I noticed that there were many interactive tools for children to learn from. I especially appreciate how both the museum and planetarium center the voices and experiences of Indigenous people.
Christina W — Google review
As far as a MUSEUM goes this one is fantastic. That being said, this place is meant for field trips and schools, as it's way better than a school day, but comes up short for a family day. I scoured reviews and looked for photos of exhibits but came up with very little information before we went. I took a 9 year break from RMSC and decided to take the kids back this week. The kids are 27 , 11 , 7 and 5 years old. Though they tried their best to keep a positive attitude, this was misery for them. We covered the entire museum in under 90 minutes. Though something here or there would get their attention for say, 60 seconds, we really struggled here. We arrived at 12:15 and there was NO parking. They are charging too much for this museum. It's a museum. It's mostly look at the exhibits and walk around. And frankly kids don't want to do that. 10-12$ pp would have been reasonable. They are charging "play museum" prices but come up beyond short. The museum is amazing. For a school trip. For a learning environment. But we do not consider this a fun family day.

I visited the RMSC with my 2 teenage boys. I was worried that they'd be bored there but I was pleasantly surprised! Even though they know how and why things occur, they still had a blast playing and tinkering at all the learning stations. We had a very thorough lesson on earthquakes, watched a rocket launch propelled by liquid nitrogen and stood in a faraday cage while electricity arched towards us at the Electricity Theater. Science sure is fun!

Had a great time. Museum has interactive activities for the kids. The day we went they had an engineering workshop along with a small medical workshop. This place has 3 floors of activities. There is an elevator for quick access to all the levels including the ground level where a small dinning and snacking area is located. They also have lockers for rent. Plenty of parking

The Powers Building, a historic office building in Rochester, was constructed in 1869 and boasts a nine-story layout with a large open stairwell at its center. Notably, it features a triple mansard roof and observation tower added by Daniel Powers between 1873 and 1888. The building is home to various retail spaces on the first floor, including an optometrist and tailor, as well as striking sculptures and art pieces. Its expansive atrium is particularly impressive.
This is one of the most beautiful buildings in Rochester. It also has a hidden gem - one of the most expansive and impressive atriums around. From inside and out, there's absolutely nothing that isn't short of spectacular! The first floor has retail which includes a tailor, an optometrist, and much more. It also has quite a few sculptures and art pieces. Entrances off of State Street and Main Street lead to the atrium. The atrium itself has another hidden gem in the form of Sapporo's cafe, which will be covered in a later review. Ferns and hostas proliferate throughout this multi-story extravaganza. You really feel like you're in a whimsical garden while walking through the space. Being that it's mostly professionals in the building it's nice and quiet. A perfect spot to read a book or simply have a seat and relax. No matter the weather, you'll leave this space feeling brand new. It's truly remarkable.

This building is beautiful! The atrium lunch area is amazing. I would love to work in this building. The parking garage is conveniently located next door with a walkway on the 2nd floor attached so you don't have to go outside. If you have a chance you should go and check out the companies that are inside this building and see the architecture!

Great building, great administration. I think the prettiest buildings in Rochester, at one point it was the tallest building, and the first building to have elevators. The administration used to charge 10 cents per ride.

ARTISANworks is a renovated factory building in Rochester that houses a diverse collection of multidisciplinary art pieces and offers event space. The 40,000-square-foot warehouse turned art gallery utilizes every inch of space to display its eclectic artwork in themed rooms and areas. Visitors can easily get lost exploring the hidden rooms, nooks, crannies, and endless spaces filled with interesting artifacts, gizmos, and gadgets. Additionally, the venue hosts various events including drag brunch shows.
Picture taking was hard due to lighting. We found this place through a website we follow called Atlas Abscura. When we travel, we like to find non-touristy places. This venue is absolutely AWESOME. We so wanted to stay for the tour that is generally not open, but husband had recent back surgery and just couldn't do more walking. A definite on your must see list.

If you're in Rochester and it happens to be a Friday Saturday or Sunday, this is a must visit venue. It's a huge former manufacturing facility renovated into a place that shows art and holds events. If a world-class Art gallery and an amazing event venue had a baby, it would be Artisan Works. This is at least a 2-hour walk through filled with all manner of Art in all forms of media, vintage cars, themed rooms, paintings and sculptures, photography, you name it and it's probably here or represented. I even spotted some Andy Warhol prints as well as a very large collection of Rochester's own Mark Groaning's work. Definitely come by and check this place out. Also of note, every Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m. Artisan Works has a thrift sale and you can find some really really amazing work as well as incredibly low-priced items there. Items change and are refreshed every week.

First of all, this posting is from Brian, Pam's husband. ARTISANworks is a special place and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Pam and I started attending events and auctions (including anniversary celebrations of friends) at ARTISANworks what must be a few decades ago now and we've always found it to be an enchanting environment. A good portion of the art and sculpture we have in our home is from ARTISANworks including an "ass" stool that i bid on while quite inebriated during one of those famous early auctions that Louis hosted. It's still in the basement if anyone is interested! Kudos to Kim and her staff for continuing the great work at ARTISANworks and for expanding the breadth of offerings and performances over the past frew years. We always enjoy visiting Kim and we'll always remember Louis in our hearts. Keep up the fantastic work and any chance in the future of getting the City to allow you to reopen that rooftop bar? Gosh, loved that place!

Additionally, guests can participate in space mission simulations and watch giant-screen films about world exploration.
Attended the afternoon showing on Black Holes; have recently visited and seen some of the weekend Lazer Light shows as well. The star shows, which showcase the night sky, constellations, and planets, are also generally well-received.

Experience was ok tickets were $13. Chairs are reclining type almost look like lawn chairs. Bought tickets online but had to get in line at the box office to get the actual tickets for someone else to scan and let us in. Additionally, the experience was not a 360 degree view like other planetarium’s we’ve been to.
Jayz24981 — Google review
Walked out half way through the show. They no longer use the projector for projecting, just to hang a trans flag. I'm not sure what that has to do with space. Comfy chairs with speakers were replaced with garbage. If they over sell tickets, there are lawn chairs they pull out. Theater was filled with small children who could care less about constellations. Thank god the tickets were only $11. Digital imagery was terrible. Show started 10 min late with little kids crying. Just a horrible experience all around.
Dan O — Google review
Went to Beautifica. Show was amazing. Sitting was awful though and I hated the new plastic lawn chairs that replaced the old reclining ones. I literally thought I had come in during renovation and the chairs must be temporary. I was wrong and those hard, non comfortable chairs are the ones they actually wanted. I did not get a full screen of Beautifica as my chair did not allow it. I mean can we start a GoFundMe for proper chairs or something?
Cynthia S — Google review
We accidentally purchased tickets to a CC show on Black Holes. The CC was huge and really distracted from the visuals so unless you are hard of hearing avoid those. That was our fault. The show was very good but the seats were terrible esp if you are a shorter person. My wife was extremely uncomfortable and left with a sore lower back and a headache. Not the experience we remember from the days of great seating. We would love to return but not until the seats are replaced.
Bill O — Google review
I went there for the Pink Floyd laser show for the first time probably since the 80s. It's all changed. The chairs are absolutely and extremely uncomfortable. The basically kind of cheap lawn chairs. There is no proper ventilation in the theater area. I had to leave! There is no refund so I count my losses! I just explained that I will not ever come back. And I am very serious! Very very terrible experience. Why they ripped up those chairs that they had with the speakers on them from several years ago I don't know. But with the improper ventilation in the theater and the uncomfortable chairs experience! I definitely will not be going back
Matthew B — Google review
We recently went for the Mesmerica show. The planetarium was conveniently located with plenty of parking. Inside there's hands on things to experience before entering the actual dome area. Inside the dome area, there's chairs that resemble/feel like outdoor cloth lawn chairs, where the upper half reclines to allow better viewing of the ceiling and surrounding area. There is no leg/foot rest to the chairs. The room is quite chilly, so dress appropriately. The bathrooms are in the back of the building and maybe not the most conveniently located. Overall, a nice place to visit.

Nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario, the Charlotte Genesee Lighthouse is a captivating piece of history that dates back to 1822. Standing at an impressive 40 feet tall, this lighthouse not only served as a crucial navigational aid for ships entering the Genesee River but also offers visitors a chance to ascend its tower for breathtaking views over northern Monroe County and the expansive lake.
Constructed in 1822 of stone and decommissioned in 1881 and then returned to active service in 2014, the Charlotte Genesee Light is a lovely example of some of the earliest lighthouses. 40 feet tall and in an octagonaly shape it is next to but not attached to the keeper's house. The light was originally lit by whale oil lamps but those were replaced by a proper Fresnel lens in 1853. Not open for tours on this late weekday afternoon but the grounds are open and you can have a proper walk around. Even on a somewhat cloudy day, it is a beauty! There are a number of captions and other things to see on the property including the original well, the original keeper's house and more.

While visitors can't enter the castle itself, they can explore the beautiful gardens surrounding it, including the renowned Sunken Garden designed by landscape architect Alling DeForest.
As a World Solo Traveler; I chose Rochester NY as my Latest Destination. (Also to visit Family) I have always been intrigued by ANY Historical Landmarks or Distinguished Locations. Nestled on Titus Avenue in Irondequoit, the House of Guitars has been a beloved fixture in the local music scene since its inception in 1964. Founded by brothers Armand and Bruce Schaubroek, this legendary store began humbly in their mother's basement and has grown into the world's largest guitar shop. Spanning three floors within the Grange Hall building, it boasts an impressive array of instruments, records, clothing, accessories, and more.
A truly wild experience! If you are in the Rochester area and like music equipment, then this is a MUST stop! The whole building is dedicated to each aspect of music gear, from acoustic, electric, and bass guitars, drums, amps, keyboards, and more. There is also an album room that has to be 3,000 sq ft, filled, wall to wall with every album imaginable. The instruments are separated by room, and the rooms, passageways, nooks, and crannies, and intriguing, and seem, never ending! The owner and shop staff are great and highly knowledgeable.

Mizuno Y — Google review
As an Irondequoit local this has become my favorite store in town. There's a wide selection of musical stuff, not just guitars but other instruments too. In fact this place could double as a museum as I've found things here I didn't even know existed (like a giant bass mandolin or a bass ukulele). All the male employees upstairs are really cool and helpful, they seem to really love their job and want to go the extra mile for people looking at guitars (with the exception of the older female who works there sometimes who isn't friendly at all lol so I stay away from her). Recently I was talking to the guys about a guitar there that I kept coming in to see and had been saving up for and didn't want anyone else to buy. They said that they did layaway for 90 days, and I said I needed more time than that because my vehicle had just broken down and I kept getting hit with expenses for repairs and such and didn't want to put it on layaway and then lose the money I'd put down because I couldn't come up with the rest in time...So what did they do? They said they would set it aside for me anyway and let me come in with the money when I had it! It's such a weight off my mind because I'm already married to that guitar emotionally lol. These guys are some of the best salesmen I've ever met. I love how they have such a low pressure, customer is always right attitude. They don't give you any sales pitches or anything like that, they just act like they will bend over backwards for you like no salesman ever does. And they make you feel right at home in the store and don't treat you like an interloper if you are just coming in to window shop and play guitars to see how they sound. My two favorite employees to deal with there are Gavin and Mikey, make sure you ask for them they are really great guys to talk to about music. The owner of the record store downstairs is also really cool to talk to and is like an encyclopedia of musical knowledge and stories and I look forward to seeing him anytime I pass through, and recommend you do as well - his name is Armand and he's the one wearing the sport coat. However, unfortunately the other employees downstairs aren't friendly, and the blonde teen girl who works there is not only rude but will literally insult you if you ask her questions about music she doesn't know the answer to or not like her favorite band/album as much as she does. In all my years I've never had a salesperson act that way, its pretty crazy what they get away with down there, so the bad vibe of the record store is the only reason I don't give this place 5 stars and I don't like to spend any time down there at all if the owner isn't there because the other staff make it so uncomfortable. I honestly didn't even really care so much about the messiness of the place, I mean it is cluttered and claustrophobic but I was thinking about starting an old fashioned record collection and was excited at how much there was to look through...but I couldn't even begin browsing before I was getting insulted by a grade school mean girl and as an adult I don't need to deal with that from anyone...especially not sales people I'd be buying from lmao so I only shop upstairs. Lastly, there's the custom shop up on the top floor which does really great work at a competitive price. You can bring them any kind of guitar in any kind of condition and they can help. Be it fixing just a slight fret buzz or a garbled sounding humbucker, or fixing a guitar that's totally busted, or building a custom guitar from scratch (they have helped me with all of these things before and more). They really know the guitar inside out. And they are very personable too and I look forward to seeing them whenever I need help

One of the most iconic stores in Rochester. They have a huge collection of guitars, amps, pedals, drums and nearly any accessory you could need for any of them. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and they stand behind their products. I've bought 5 guitars here so far and countless other doodads and I've had a great experience every time. Thank you everyone at the HOG!

The name says it all. Absolutely loved this guitar and cd store! The staff were great, they had a huge selection of cd’s and guitar, the place was HUGE, and the place was clean. We at least spent 2 hours at this place and got a few picks and gear from here while we were in the area. They also have amplifiers, keyboards, ukuleles, and much, much more. Their signature wall near the cd’s was sick as well. It’s worth checking out.

Beautiful 😍 like a museum or a timecapsule of a more elegant time. Love the music, love the sound in the theatre. Had lots of fun 😁. PS: water or a can of soda cost $3😫

Opening night of the 22nd annual Rochester Jazz Fest 2025. Smokey Robinson was the headliner. The last time I saw him in concert was 53 years ago at L.A.’s jewel, The Griffith Theater. I was 17 and he is now 85!!!! His sweet, melodic voice is still the same and for 85 the man is in incredible shape. He played many of his famous tunes and even some from his soon to be released album (yes, that’s right. At 85 he is still making new music). I thoroughly enjoyed him, the concert and he played to a packed Eastman Theater. What a treat!!

Love RPO for its great programming and guest musicians as well as fab resident conductor.. My 95 yr old mother-in-law (with her season tickets!) encouraged us to try RPO 12-15 years ago.. the grandchildren come several times a year for special children’s programs too! Nice selections of refreshments too! Staff is lovely too 👏

Coffee shop
Spot Coffee is a popular local cafe chain in Rochester, known for its delicious coffee drinks, breakfast options, and desserts. The venue used to be an old car dealership and has a unique ambiance with quirky decor. It's a great spot to relax, work, or enjoy a book, especially when the weather is nice and you can sit outside. The cafe offers a diverse menu including coffee drinks, smoothies, teas, sandwiches, salads and pizza at reasonable prices.
This coffee spot ( no pun intended) is great for a get away or a coffee date. It's small and cozy yet has a lot of space if you can understand what I mean. The upstairs balcony provides a great view of the place so that you can really take in the place. Customer service was on point and even with toaster ovens being down they tried their best to accommodate all the customers in line. The food is great and taste amazing in my humble opinion. The coffee is fresh and held it's temperature so the quality of the cups they use are pretty good.

Love the open space! From a Chevy showroom to coffe hot spot. Fresh coffee and breakfast dishes. When I stopped in they were understaffed which took me about 15 mins just to place the order! They definitely need more staff especially on a Sunday midday! But I still loved the coffee and bagel.

Converted art deco Chevy dealership, great vibe. Coffee was very good. Lots of interior space.
Lauro M — Google review
This is a huge big space for everything cool about coffee shops and the stuff that goes with it: beans, treats, cakes, and plenty of room to sip, talk, and work. The actual space is a former Chevy dealership with a balcony and different kinds of relaxation nooks. The staff are friendly and it seems peopled with diverse locals. The iced coffee did the job, the kid had a big apple juice, and we split a rice-crispy bar. Be sure to stop by and chill when you’re in the neighborhood.

Spent a few hours here tonight while my son did some homework. Staff is average, not exactly friendly but they took our order and it was correct so I'm happy. The space is large with great available mixed seating. It was a bit loud and chilly!!! but I'll just bring an extra jacket next time. We really enjoyed our margarita pizza which they actually make fresh! My pumpkin mocha "shake" was also tasty as was his chai latte. The carrot cake was just 'eh' especially for over 5 bucks a slice. All in all this is definitely a spot we'll come back to!

I’m giving 5 stars because since I started coming to SPOT. Alana speaks and greets me and every customer by name if they came before. You don’t get that everywhere. She is respectful, she should be manager! She runs that store when she is on shift very smoothly. I come to spot for the service that Alana provides. I’m a loyal member now with two spot cups lol.

Spot coffee used to be awesome about 10 years ago... sadly this cafe has changed. Coffee is still good but they def have a limited choice of cakes and sweets. They used to have many choices available but now just a few remain. Staff working the counter used to be fun and friendly but not so much any more. Tables are not clean because they seem to have limited staff and bathroom were gross with over flowing garbage and urine on the floor. Also found out they no longer have live music :( what a shame! Disappointed with my experience!

Small, intimate place to see some great shows! Only advice, don't pay extra for box seats. The seats aren't numbered, so it's first come, first serve, and the view from the side isn't great.

Yesterday was my first time at the theater. It's beauty was captivating. And it has that classic elegance with a modern twist as its elevators had TV, told the weather, and smoothly ride. I most certainly would considered the theater when taking a special one out.

The theater is just beautiful, had good seats & the acoustics were good. Saw Some Like it Hot & it was awesome! I wasn't aware there was a dedicated handicapped parking area, which we needed. That was extremely helpful & we were guided there from the staff at the rear of the bldg. They contacted the handicapped lot so a spot was saved for us. Very efficient.

Great place to see a show. It was easy to get to and not too far a walk from our parking, There were drinks/snacks and bathrooms on every floor. Staff were helpful and polite. We will definitely go back soon.

3 stars for the show itself. Hamilton was amazing. Would give 5 stars if it was solely based on the show. My husband and I had tickets for a Thursday night show that appeared sold out. Yay! Great for the organization. We were seated in Balcony J101 & J102. These tickets were expensive. The view from the seats were fine. My complaint is that the seats are so small and uncomfortable. It's worse than plane seating. I was seated in J102 and next to a larger man. He was constantly hitting my shoulders and legs. I kept scooting toward my husband and didn't have use of any arm rest. This gentleman should have purchased 2 seats. On top of that discomfort, the building is old and the seats are super uncomfortable. The reception area is well run and has lots of space. The beverage area is well run and efficient. Plenty of options.

Easy to get to venue. Finding your seats is a snap. The staff is friendly which is a rarity for a busy venue. Please, buy the parking tickets sold by the venue. Trust me, you will be thankful. It makes it easy to park, right next to the venue, and to leave after a show. Plus, the parking lot is heavily patrolled by the RPD. Overall, visiting this venue was a nice experience and we look forward to come back.

Great medium sized arena... there really isn't a bad seat because you're never far from the event with it being a smaller arena... the facility is well maintained and the staff are great. Food is on par if not better than the buffalo arena/bills stadium and there is even some nice views from the concessions areas. Parking at the garage with attached tunnel into the arena is always nice in the bad weather The only major con is some seating is a bit more cramped But overall it's a great concert venue and sports events have always been a great value here compared to buffalo

The seats in this arena are terrible I'm short and they still kill my knees completely uncomfortable why wouldn't who ever is responsible make these seats so uncomfortable we usually end up leaving every event early because of this it would really be nice if you didn't have to pay a small fortune for comfortable seating

Swiftwater Brewing Company is a must-visit in downtown Rochester, NY. The brewery offers house-brewed beers and a small menu of unique bar bites in an industrial, garage-like space. Their taproom features a kayak display and handcrafted tables and chairs made from premium black walnut trees. In addition to beer, they also sell cider, wine, canned cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Fun place to have delicious drinks and food. Swiftwater offers a great atmosphere, tasty drinks and food. We got the Irish nachos and Asian wings, everything had an incredible flavor. The wings were cooked perfectly, they were crispy but also juicy. Great place to come and hang out.

When we arrived and sat at the bar, there was a notable line at the service station at the bar. Even when that line died down with three bartenders, it took a while for us to be greeted. I guess maybe we were supposed to get in line and order at the service station, then sit down? Not sure and there wasn't anything indicating that like a sign or bit on the menu. The food was great and the beer was ok. I got the potatoes and buffalo tofu sandwich, both excellent. However, the issue was that my wife ordered a stromboli and it took about 40 minutes. So all my food came out and I was able to eat it before hers even came out. They told us since strombolis are made from scratch they take longer. Just prep the food so it comes out together.

The Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County is a notable attraction in New York, featuring a unique children's book section with an accessible secret room for wheelchair users. The library offers a diverse collection of books and exhibits an appealing architectural design with two parts connected by an underground walkway. However, the inconsistent operating hours, particularly during summer, may be perceived as a significant drawback, potentially limiting access for children.
Great library. It has everything you need, tech room with over 20 computers, 4 floors of actual bookshelves, great employees, lots of free services. Very close to public transport. Probably the best library I've visited in years.
Matthew L — Google review
It’s not really a library anymore! It’s a youth drop in and a social services center. There are absolutely no study spaces as every space is reserved for C.A.S.H. program. All the other space is geared towards youth, which is fine but as an adult student who pays taxes, i’d like a space to use as well; especially one that isn’t filled with homeless men coughing or plastic bottles. Lots of renovations are happening to the exterior of the older building while the interior is meh (to say the least). Lastly, the building is cold and the dividers do nothing to spare you from the noise. This is just not welcoming to all people in the city.

The Catholic cathedral Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester is a beautiful example of Gothic Revival architecture. It is staffed by friendly priests and parishioners who offer traditional mass services. The cathedral is currently undergoing renovations that are expected to add a statue of the sacred heart, as well as a statue of Lady wearing a veil, which will make it even more memorable and spiritually helpful for visitors.
At Sacred Heart Cathedral you will hear well grounded homilies with Fr. Peter VanLieShout; truly stellar advice during confession; beautifully organized and sung sacred chants and hymns thanks to their sacred choral director, John Morabito, who accompanies it with his lively and stunning pipe organ; and a smooth running operation of grounds due to their joyful office staff. The Frederick Douglass Monument and Memorial Plaza in Rochester pays tribute to the renowned abolitionist and former slave, Frederick Douglass. The monument, located in Highland Park, was commissioned by African American activist John W. Thompson and sculpted by Sidney W. Edwards in 1899, making it the first dedicated to a black person in the United States. This beautiful and calming statue commemorates an important figure in American history who utilized his friendship with President Abraham Lincoln to help end slavery.
My exploration of Frederick Douglass's legacy in Rochester continues! After visiting his final resting place at Mount Hope Cemetery and seeing the statue along the river, I stumbled upon another incredible monument dedicated to this iconic figure. This particular statue holds a special place in history. Erected all the way back in 1899, it's the very first civic monument in the United States honoring an African American! Originally, it stood near the city's main train station. In 1941, it was relocated to Highland Bowl, and finally found its permanent home in fall of 2019 at the newly designed Frederick Douglass Memorial Plaza. The Plaza itself is impressive. The designers incorporated the original 8-foot bronze statue, placing it on a prominent corner of South Avenue and Robinson Drive, atop a 9-foot blue granite pedestal. A unique feature is an illuminated sculpture of the North Star, a powerful symbol of the Underground Railroad. The official dedication ceremony for the Plaza was held on December 4th, 2019.🤙🏾 This statue isn't just another monument; it's a testament to Rochester's rich history and its recognition of Frederick Douglass's crucial role in the fight for freedom.

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery is a serene and beautifully maintained resting place located in Rochester, NY, nestled between Lake Ave and Dewey Ave. Visitors often express their gratitude for the compassionate assistance provided by staff members like Marian, who help families navigate the emotional process of selecting burial plots during difficult times. The cemetery offers a tranquil environment with lush greenery, towering trees, and even wildlife that adds to its charm—making it an ideal spot for reflection or remembrance.
Holy Sepulchre is a beautiful, peaceful cemetery. The grounds are very well-taken care of. It's a lovely place to visit especially in the Spring and Summer. There are lots of big trees and animals roaming around. During the holidays you can order special Christmas wreaths to be placed. My father, grandparents, and great-grandparents are all buried there. We always enjoy our visit to Holy Sepulchre.
Classic A — Google review
My parents are buried side by side at Holy Sepulchre. My sister and I have added flowers and round, flat stones with personalized messages to the site in the past 4 years without incidence. The stones were tasteful and unobtrusive. One stone declared my father's remorse and devotion to Mom. Another was an actual passage from a reading at Mom's funeral. This summer all of the stones were removed without notice (I know they have our contact information based on the many mail requests for donations over the years). They were apparently deposited at the office in a location where people could 'shop' and were repurposed. Our belief was that once the cemetery received our payment for burial services and internment their future obligations only required that they cut the grass. Apparently, the money also entitled them to run a flea market with items from my parent's grave site.
David W — Google review
They could do a better job at keeping the area looking nice. I went on July 4th and the Veteran area was a mess. I had to dust off many graves to read the names of the Veterans. Grass clippings were completely covering most of them. I would expect better, especially on a Holiday that is for them. Other areas had a similar issue. They need to edge the grass around the graves so that it's not growing almost completely over the grave. Afterwards, blow those areas off. This is common sense and it's sad I even have to mention it.
Jenna L — Google review
Generations of family are buried here. The grounds are generally well taken care but not this year. Grandparents, children's father and husband are buried in St Bernard Grove and it is not very well kept this year. Dewey Ave side is nicely done but not the Lake Avenue side. Disappointed to say the least. Don't know what's going on this year but this year I'll be weed whacking the plots myself. So much for perpetual care. Don't know if they are behind schedule or they have newly hired people in training but this is very sad

I have three generations of family at your Cemetery. I'll say first it is a beautiful place. But I agree wholeheartedly with the other posts here about you ripping off our heart sent gifts to our loved ones at the graves we have purchased. Other cemeteries have postings that they clean off Graves every six months.. they post the dates that they do their cleanup. So family know that their gifts left at graves can only be there for a specific amount of time. And have due warning when those items will be removed if you don't do so yourself. That is fair to everyone involved. We can honor our loved ones.. And you get a clean slate Cemetery every few months. It's about the respect for our families buried there. You ripped off my mother's little expensive stone angel that my son left her and threw it in a trash heap. It was sitting on the ledge of her Stone for 5 years . Who was that harming ? It looked is though it was a part of the stone itself . Is that Catholic charity? Or dominance? Rethink your policies.

This art deco skyscraper is one of the most iconic buildings in Rochester. Every depiction of Rochester's skyline contains the massive wings that sprawl atop the building. It is something that catches people's eyes form wherever they are. It would be cool to see the building have the lights on the wings change colors like the Metropolitan now does, but just for the top of this building. Have the wings change colors and have the rest of the top be able to also independently change in different sections, etc. I love the building and so far it seems to be taken care of quite well.

Rochester Public Market is a year-round destination, but it truly comes alive in the spring. Visitors can explore a wide array of seasonal products from local vendors and shouldn't miss Flower City Days at the Market, held on Sundays in May and early June. Additionally, nearby towns host farmers markets of different scales for those seeking more options.
Love this farmers market. Never know what you're going to find. We came home with a lot of different fruits. All very reasonably priced. Enjoyed a couple of pastries from the inside vendor. It was a lovely day to walk around the market. Went back on Sunday for their flower market. They had a great variety of flowers, vegetables, and herb plants.

We try to visit the local market whenever we are travelling and we were pleasantly surprised by the Rochester Public Market. We had our visit on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy. There is limited parking at the market and cars are parked on the streets and in parking lots surrounding it. The produce was abundant and delicious. 🫑🌶️🍒🍅🥬🍓 There were spices, honey, jewellery and a variety of prepared foods.

My friends and I attended Drag on the Bricks at the Public Market. I have also been to Bands on the Bricks. The venue has a lot of parking, but a large section is usually blocked off so people have to park across the street. The stage set-up was fine, but the VIP section was off to the side of the stage, which did not feel like VIP at all. The queens put on a great show, battling through the heat. Massage chairs were available in VIP, which one my friends used and was quite pleased. Food was limited, especially for people with food restrictions. However, what was available tasted good. We all had a great time and would probably go again.

Love this place! They have a variety of options for produce, cheeses, snacks, flowers, and other items. There are also coffee shops and stores within the public market area. Prices are good and the people are very nice. This is also a great activity for a weekend to go with friends or family. I definitely recommend going as switch up from Wegmans.

The Rochester Abandoned Subway is a captivating glimpse into the past, showcasing an underground public transportation system that once thrived beneath the city. This hidden gem features a sprawling network of tunnels adorned with striking street art and graffiti, creating an intriguing blend of urban decay and creativity. As you wander through these remnants, it feels like you've been transported back in time. While exploring this unique site, it's essential to stay cautious and ideally go with friends since some areas may pose safety risks.
The Rochester Abandoned Subway is a fascinating piece of local history and a unique spot to explore. Walking through the remnants of the old subway tunnels feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by urban decay and incredible street art that gives the space an eerie yet artistic vibe. The graffiti and murals add a lot of character, making it a popular spot for photographers and adventure seekers. It's important to be careful and go with a group, as some areas can be unsafe. Overall, it's a must-see for anyone interested in urban exploration and Rochester’s hidden history!

This place was beautiful and sad at the same time. A lot of beautiful drawings (art) down there. It's the abandoned subway in rochester new York.
Barbara K — Google review
Went in at the entrance directly next to the street behind Nick Tahou Hots. Really interesting and easily accessible way to explore some historic abandoned architecture and see some neat graffiti.
Aaron — Google review
Not for the feint hearted or easily scared (lile.me), that's for sure. I didn't get very far down the tunnel because my bike light wasn't powerful enough and the flash on in my camera failed anyway. But this is an awesome piece of history that looks like something out of the movie '28 Days Later' Next time I'll bring a flashlight and a willing human being to hold my hand.
Rebecca M — Google review
Nice graffiti , small area to view the subway tunnel unless you climb down it did not see no trespassing sign 😉
William_ R — Google review
The subway tracks were laid in the former Erie Canal when it was re-routed to bypass downtown Rochester. The service was ceased in 1956. The best pictures can be taken at night: if you have Pixel, use the night sight. Get to one of the arches and take a picture of the tunnel with all the graffiti to get an eerie and powerful image.
Vadim S — Google review
Went down near the corner of Industrial and Broad street. Was stopped by film crew not too far in and we had to leave. Note that they will most likely be filming from this section of the subway for a couple of months - find another entrance!
Sam L — Google review
Honestly for searching up "things to do near me", I'm glad this showed up. My friends and I went and bought one flashlight just for this experience. It was really cool and we didn't go to far. All the graffiti is either good art or just harmless stuff people tag. If you go with others, make sure everyone has their own flashlight. It is really dark in there and my group didn't make it to the end. For sure check it out if you have the time but be wary of rocks and garbage on the ground. There is also sometimes water that drips from the ceiling. Overall one of a kind experience.

Rochester City Hall is not only a historical and influential local government office, but also a popular photography location for weddings. The staircase is particularly favored for wedding photos, and during Christmas, a large tree inside the building provides a festive backdrop for holiday shoots. Additionally, the City Hall has been involved in establishing alliances with various entities at the state, federal, and international levels. Recently, there have been discussions about renewed ties between Rochester and Mali, Africa.
I went in to take care of my passport. They estimated 85 minutes to take care of me, but they were done within an hour. Very friendly and professional staff.

Be careful here if you are elderly. They allowed Dr. Ena Farley, an elderly Black woman, to be removed from her home against her will. This woman wasn't declared incompetent, so how was this allowed? Watch the video on Youtube. Did her sons sell, lease, or give away her house without her consent? Justice for Dr. Ena Farley!

Having seen crime happen every day. Prostitution, drugs, fights, traffic speeding, no stopping at signs or lights, many parking violations. The Parking Enforcement and Police are the worst I have every witnessed. Many time they just don't come or come so many hours, hours that crimes goes on. They both have stated that they are overwhelmed and can't do the job. Today I called in a violation at 7:26 and still no response at noon! How can any say they are capable of keeping the city safe when easy things are taken care of. They are a joke to the city, they can't even write a ticket for months at the same address with the same truck, yes for months. Every single time they claim to be overwhelmed. For MONTHS, no ticket. The chief, and his patrol stations are seen driving around but not doing traffic stops at all. I have seen this time and time again. On Lyell everyone sees the prostitution, we never see an arrest though, again not doing the job for the residents. This allows littering, drugs, fights. Really what do so many officers do? Certainly not the crimes we the people see everyday. Hire officers that can do traffic stops and arrest prostitution. Really do something!!

Had to go here twice once to purchase a vacant lot next to my property, the second to get a wired smoke alarm permit grandfather in for a second property. The people working there are extremely rude, unprofessional and arrogant. This is a very bad look for the city of Rochester and needed to be addressed.

This is a historical, influential local government office with State, Federal and International alliances. Though I am from Zambia, it was an honor to witness renewed ties between Rochester and Mali, Africa. Mayor Evans and the ambassador from Mali 🇲🇱 made assurances concerning this Intercontinental partnership. Could Zambia be next? I hope so. A friend and I played African drums as representatives from Building Families First, based here in Rochester.

Our constitution is very important and to see city halls in new york betray us is awful. Its a shame an honest new yorker cant trust their city courts or the police. Who knew a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Rochester! Found it while looking for something to do while visiting friends and it was within a couple of miles of their home so we drove over. It's in a beautiful neighborhood with many other magnificent homes. On the FLW website it states that this home was restored over a 2 year period of time and is privately owned. The aspect is immediately recognizable and the windows are works of art and in every window we could see fronting East Blvd. We parked in front and got out to take a look and a quick walk. What an architectural gem in this neighborhood!
Millie K — Google review
Really cool place to see in a very well off neighborhood. No public tours but the house is beautiful and worth a stop to view from the curb.
Dylan B — Google review
Stunningly beautiful inside and lovingly restored and maintained by the present owners. Few people realize Rochester has a Frank Lloyd Wright house so it's not mobbed. The most striking feature from outside is the cantilevered porch, which is amazing to see in a city full of porches. Steel beams are embedded in the house which are the only supports for the porch roof. It's remarkable to see perfect lines on a roof that has no visible support. If you are able to take a tour, I highly recommend it.

Redeemer Lutheran Church is a historic and welcoming place of worship located in the downtown area. The church has a strong sense of community, with dedicated members like the Rasmussen family who work tirelessly to support those associated with the church. The pastor is highly regarded for being positive, caring, and delivering great sermons. Additionally, the church hosts events such as sales and operates a thrift shop that visitors appreciate.
I know that the Rasmussen family has dedicated a lot of their time and effort in working to help those most closely associated with church. They try to do what is "right" for those they are helping. They are a true "family" in every sense of the word. They take responsibility and the world is a better place because of people like them. The Parazin Building, constructed in 1826, served as the headquarters of the Seyle Fire Engine Company and played a significant role in producing and supplying fire engines to nearby cities in New York State. This historical landmark showcases the typical architecture of its era, featuring coursed stone rubble on the first two floors and random ashlar stone on the upper levels.
A great historical building in the High Falls area that was the home of the Seyle Fire Engine Company. Although you can't go in if closed is a great historic landmark and evocative of the architecture of the 1800s and how the industrial companies were built closer to ther river to harness the power of the Genesee River. St Michael is a beautiful church, I attend the 11:30 Spanish Sunday Service. The choir is awesome, you feel it in your bones. Father Bob Worth tries his best to speak in Spanish. Father Mickey knows the the language. I love Father Tracey. He is the monarchy of this church, He been around before I was even born. He helped my parents when they came from Puerto Rico, because they did not speak English language and they moved to Rochester, NY which was a long time ago. He helped them get settle in. He is a caring person. I wish him a speedy recovery. They have Spanish deacons and parishioners that volunteer their time and keep up with the Hispanic tradition . They hold events to help with the cost of the church needs. I enjoy seeing the younger generation engaging in their faith and their children are learning too. They also offer English Mass at 4 pm, they also have exceptional staff and volunteers that are dedicated. Sometimes, the Eastman Theatre musicians perform during the holidays. Come and visit this awesome church.
