A very lively part ot Montpellier at all time, with excellent buskers near the fountain, just next to large outside seatings of fancy hidtoric cafés and Restaurants. The very diverse crowd passing by in all sort of transport device is a treat. It is worth stopping, and watching the never ending flow.

Dry. In serious need of maintenance. It might be the time of year, but the whole place was really dry and the plants looked like they were on the brink of death. The whole garden really looked like it needed a great deal of maintenance, from general grass cutting and weeding, to repairing concrete and fixing broken watering systems. They also have a desert conditions greenhouse which is often open to the environment since this is a drier part of France. It is a good photo ops, as not many tourists venture here. This is a really old Gothic church with a lot of history built back in the 14th century. Try to visit here when exploring Montpellier, as it is impressive and worth visiting once.

Really enjoyed the photography gallery, it was very clean, had a video/interview with the artist to get more information about her work and in a very nice area. Arrived by tram and although up some steep stairs it was about 5 minutes away. Staff were lovely and spoke great English. Would definitely recommend.

We saw two excellent exhibitions here for free. The building is spacious and had air-conditioning, which was crucial on the hot August day that we visited. At the time we visited they were presenting two photo exhibitions related to Hitler and the Jewish Ghettos. The material was obviously heavy and largely depressing, but the presentation was very good and the supplementary information was very interesting.

I am not a fan of zoos or aquariums, but this place felt like a true jungle for the animals. It is so peaceful and nice. Free of charge and free small parking lot in front. The walk is long but worth it!

A great place to spend a few hours surrounded by nature. The Montpellier Zoo has a wide variety of animals and large, well kept enclosures. It’s a fun and educational activity for all ages, perfect for a relaxing walk and some quiet time outdoors. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

For a 'free' venue it's a wonderful place to visit. The animals are limited in numbers. But appear to be well looked after. Be aware that there is no availability for refreshment in the park. There are water fountains located within the park but nothing else. A good way to spend a couple of hours wandering around the park.

Hot and lots of animals not out or closed off enclosures. But free (even some on street parking nearby for free too if you're lucky like we were!) and no complaints here. Plenty of picnic tables and water taps to refill water bottles whilst your there. We enjoyed our couple of hours there.

You can just sit on one of the benches in the shade of a tree or admire the fountain of the unicorns, one of its main features. This public square and garden is also surrounded by restaurants and drinking establishments.

Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle is one of the best public spaces in the downtown area of Montpellier, especially on weekends and holidays. The leafy area is usually full of residents and visitors who are there to enjoy various outdoor activities including strolling, dancing and sitting down to watch people go by.

A beautiful park that was being remodeled during our visit. It’s great to stroll on way to Museums.

Loovely place, don't miss out on the regular market/festival that is held here every Friday throughout the summer. An incredible atmosphere, the most striking thing for a Scandinavian like me is that everyone walks around with each their (real glass!) small wine glass and just enjoy life. There's a wide variety of food at the stands, crepes, seafood, grill, international, ham, etc. Wine is a given. And of course live music here and there. All in all an impressive set up and I highly recommend it.

Modern art isn’t always for everyone but if you’re creative definitely check it out! Nice church

This place was so cool. This gothic church turned art gallery was wonderfully unique. Plus it's free so it is definitely worth a visit. They've preserved a lot of the church structure and the middle is a big open space for all different types of art exhibitions. The one I went to was very cool by L'Artiste JR which included a big beautiful tree in the middle and so many different hand scans hanging from the ceiling and from the branches of the trees as leaves. I would highly recommend coming here if you are visiting the city.

My fav place : pricey but such a variety of food styles, with uncompromised quality. I ve been there 50 times for a brekkie, lunches, drinks or dinners. Never been disappointed :)

Given the fact that this a place for french fries (frites), these were actually decent, no salt at all but this is preference. The real issue was with the croquette à la Crevette (5.50€). Not sure if these are frozen pre-done products, but the quality was horrible. Sauce in side is like an unflavored white creme with the most small and tasteless shrimp. As shown in the photos. If you are going to buy overpriced french fries, sure go for it. Do avoid the other products as they are tasteless and overpriced.

Expect a crowd during peak hours and hard to find places to seat. There are also other sections aside from the hall itself, such as restaurants with exterior seatings along the riverside. Place is however a little hard to access from public transport. It’s a 10 min walk from the nearest tram stop, Pablo Picasso. But with a car, they have a large parking. Highly recommend this charming venue with your friends for a nice time.

It also has a fair number of homeless people who use some of its benches for sleeping. The square has lush vegetation, beautiful flowers, a couple of sculptures, a children's park and is well maintained.

Small and busy park opposite the station. Reasonable for a little sit down to be fair. Conkers from trees end of September though... careful, they just fall on your head willy-nilly!! Tram stations handily nearby too.

It is true, “mal frequente” meaning bad people are here, so watch out. The park has an old ginkgo biloba tree and a fountain with limestone deposits and moss.

This place can seem like the usual park in the middle of a French city, but I was amazed at how incredibly beautiful it is to look at the birds going to shower in the rock that’s in the middle of a pond. Beautiful cozy park to hang out in the sun. I would come back time and time again.

Never walk here, especially in the evenings as it is a big amount of intravenous drug usage in the open there.
