Santa Claus Village is a year-round Christmas-themed attraction located just outside Rovaniemi. It's the most popular tourist spot in the area, where visitors can meet Santa Claus himself and explore shops and an igloo hotel. The village offers a festive atmosphere with its Santa Claus Post Office, where guests can send Christmas cards or postcards from Lapland.
We loved being able to meet Santa Claus, have a nice chat, and take a beautiful photo. He is very charismatic and attentive. The staff was also helpful and kind to us. We purchased the printed photo as well as the digital version by email. It turned out beautiful! We also sent postcards to our family that will be delivered at Christmas — it was a truly moving experience!

Visiting Santa Claus Village🎅🏻felt like stepping into a storybook that suddenly became real📸From the moment I crossed the Arctic Circle line painted on the ground, there was this sense of magic in the air—like I was standing at the border between everyday life and childhood dreams.☺️ The highlight was, of course, meeting Santa Claus himself. Even though I’m an adult, sitting across from him brought back a wave of warm nostalgia. He listened with a kindness that felt genuine, as if every visitor mattered. For a moment, I understood why so many people—children and grown‑ups—travel thousands of miles just to sit in that room. The village itself was glowing with twinkling lights, snow sparkling under the pale Arctic sun. The reindeer rides added an authentic touch, and I enjoyed hearing the sleigh bells echo softly in the quiet winter air. There was also a sense of timelessness—modern shops and cafés blended with the feeling of old traditions passed from generation to generation. What struck me most was how the place reminded me of the value of wonder. In our daily lives, we often lose that childlike excitement, but Santa Claus Village seemed designed to give it back. Santa Claus Village isn’t only about Christmas—it’s about keeping alive the spirit of joy, generosity, and imagination. I left with frozen fingers, a warm heart, and the comforting thought that maybe, deep down, we all still believe in a little bit of magic. ✨
Cheuk Y — Google review
I know of wearied travellers who eschew the experience because it’s highly touristy and everything’s ridiculously overpriced and to be perfectly honest, I do not disagree with any of that. Personally if I were from a neighbouring Nordic country with the same reindeer and the same snow and the same subzero temperatures, I would probably be rolling my eyes at the entire spectacle myself. However, as fate would have it, I am seated on another line on the globe altogether- more specifically, the Equator Line- so you can imagine how (and why) all this was truly a Heaven-on-Earth moment for me. I am so personally deeply obsessed with Christmas so I cannot even begin to wonder just how to break down this place to you without bias. I love how vast the Village is (like, it is literally a village) made up of all these little shoppes and log cabins and park trails; and I definitely love the giant trees and fairy lights and campfires and its very festive spirit all round. Every tree’s a Christmas tree, and every day’s Christmas; and it all gets twice more magical once the snow starts to fall. Here the line is marked, and you can literally cross in (or out) of the Arctic Circle and get a certificate for it too (for a fee, of course). You can also virtually tick off your entire Rovaniemi check list from within the confines of these grounds, starting from accommodation in its cabins and igloos, to your more standard Arctic Circle laundry list including reindeer sleds, husky rides, Northern Lights, ice castles, snowbiling, and more. The one thing you can do here that you cannot do anywhere else though, is write a letter to your loved ones (or even yourself) and post it back via the North Pole post. There’s one that mails out immediately, and one that holds your post until closer to Christmas. It’s all very immersive and whimsical.
Shafinah N — Google review
If you dont have kids, this place has limited appeal. Visiting the Santa is "free", but no pictures are allowed inside and then they want to charge €30+ for a picture, €45 if you want it digital. The Arctic Circle line is cool though.
Rogeema K — Google review
not that much to do here if you're a poor student like us. The whole village and seeing Santa is free but only after waiting for 45mins (if you're here out of season) you learn you can't take photos with him - they take it for u and it's 30€/photo. Santa's pets (a zoo) is 15€, the reindeer and other anaimals are lovely. Otherwise not much to see if your budget is low; a 4 hour visit is definitely enough.
Valentina V — Google review
Meeting Santa Claus excited everyone regardless of age. We were looking forward to it. I don't want to believe that you can enjoy talking to Santa so much. He can even thank you in Polish. Despite the visit to the village at 27 degrees ( July), I remember my stay exceptionally. The photo with Santa is one of the most valuable in my photographic collection of memories. Accommodation is very comfortable. I hope to visit the village in winter someday. Friends had a surprise - they received Christmas greeting letters from Santa Claus himself. It's a brilliant idea. I'm glad I was able to give them such pleasure. Unforgettable and interesting memories and souvenirs. Poor Santa Claus.. I had a high fever later that day, I hope I didn't get infected with anything.
PIESOCINEK T — Google review
The Christmas spirit is present all year round, it's even more beautiful in winter. Santa claus told me that :) I had a nice chat with him. I also sent postcards to my family and friends. They'll probably get them just in time for Christmas.
Janja T — Google review
At first glance, Santa Claus Village sounds like the ultimate Christmas experience — the home of Santa, a magical post office, festive atmosphere. In reality, it is nothing more than a glorified tourist trap. Sure, for children, the photo with Santa and the official post office can feel special for a moment. But beyond that, you quickly realize the truth: the entire place is essentially a huge souvenir shop with a Christmas stamp attached to it. Prices are astronomical for absolutely everything — from food to trinkets — making you feel scammed at every corner. The biggest disappointment is if you actually travel there as a destination. It’s marketed as something unique, but once you arrive, you’re standing in what feels like a dressed-up highway rest stop designed to drain your wallet. The “magic” is manufactured, shallow, and gone the moment you see the price tags. If you’re already driving past and need a short break, fine — stop, stretch your legs, let the kids take their photo and move on. But as a standalone trip? Completely underwhelming and absolutely not worth it.

Mountain peak
Ounasvaara is a versatile recreational area offering activities for all seasons. In the warmer months, visitors can enjoy mountain biking and hiking, while in winter, it transforms into a skiing and snowboarding paradise. The region also boasts ski slopes, cross-country skiing tracks, and trails for walking, running, and cross-country biking. Additionally, the area's proximity to nature makes Rovaniemi a safe and appealing place to live.
Great place to hike the many trails around the area inc the observation tower, hut & stunning views from the hilltop. We went twice & we’re lucky enough to get close to all the reindeer roaming around (a big thing since all the ones we had seen were in the side of the road) Parking was around the sports centre opposite

Restaurant
Snowman World is a unique hotel with igloo rooms and an ice-themed restaurant and bar. It offers day passes to enjoy activities such as snowman safaris, guided aurora viewings, ice slides, and ice skating. The resort also features glass apartments with private hot tubs and saunas for guests. Additionally, there are multiple restaurants and cafes within the village offering various types of cuisine in beautiful settings.
So so SO much fun! My children (age 4 and 13) spent 6 hours happily playing at Snowman World. There's 2 ice slides, 2 snow runs (which you go down in a donut ring), an ice maze, ice skating, and a stunning ice restaurant and disco made totally of ice & snow, with beautiful carvings. The food at the restaurant was really good - and the cafe serves tasty treats. My children both loved the mascots too. Go if you can - you won't regret it! (We loved it so much, we visited twice in a 4-day stay!) I also want to say - some people in their reviews talk about queues. We had none! (Well, occasionally 1 or 2 people in front of us maximum). The staff said December is very busy - but we came at the end of February and it was perfect.
Samantha G — Google review
We went there because we wanted to eat at the ice restaurant but it is mandatory to buy an access which cost 29€. The reindeer soup was excellent but it was more like an entrance rather than a main course. They don’t even offer a three course menu for the lunch time. Otherwise the ice restaurant was a nice experience. Keep in mind that you have a wear good clothes as it is -7 degrees inside.
Alex G — Google review
The place was really a magical winter wonderland. The ice carvings were so beautiful and detailed, there were a lot of activities for kids and kids at heart. We enjoyed the lunch at the ice restaurant. We were there on my daughter's birthday and the staff sang happy birthday when they brought the dessert to us. Really appreciate it! My daughter was so happy and now keeps asking to go back there 😁
Mei T — Google review
Was skeptical to go in at the cost of admission but also added lunch. It was not cheap but it was a great experience. The tubing and slides are great for kids to do. The lunch was great. Portions were a little on the smaller side but not bad. Had a great time looking at the ice carvings and eating on ice chairs at ice tables. Really glad the wife talked me into going in.

I recently visited Snowman World, and I have to say that the staff really made the experience special. From the moment we arrived, everyone was welcoming, professional, and eager to ensure we had a fantastic time. A special shout-out goes to Onni who guided us through the snow activities and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience unforgettable. The staff’s attention to detail, from helping us with our gear to offering great suggestions for activities, truly enhanced our visit. The overall atmosphere at Snowman World was friendly and festive, and it was clear that the staff takes great pride in providing a top-tier experience. Whether you're visiting for the ice sculptures, snow activities, or the unique winter atmosphere, I highly recommend Snowman World, especially due to their amazing team!
Hazwan E — Google review
We booked entrance tickets with lunch at the snow restaurant. We were a party of 7 with three children under 7. We had a great time. The food was really good and the ice carving was amazing 🤩. Only disappointment was that we didn’t get to sit at an ice table in the restaurant. If you’re a large group I would recommend splitting it into two bookings if you can as the ice table definitely added to the experience. We feel that snowman world is better suited to older children 8+. There are two small slides for younger children but these were also used by older kids which were a little too big and boisterous for it which put the younger ones off. Other than that we had a great time.
Natalie M — Google review
It's a fun place particularly for children. Most of the activities are geared towards children or are family oriented. You can definitely have fun here still though if you're an adult. The ice skating rink is particularly small and not easy to skate on because there were lots of children.
Kaixuan G — Google review
We celebrated my husband's birthday at this wonderful place, and everything was at the highest level. The salmon soup was absolutely delicious, and the staff was friendly and very attentive. We mentioned it was my husband's birthday, and they surprised us with a tart, complete with a candle, and even sang Happy Birthday to him. We highly recommend this place and encourage you not to hesitate to visit.

The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis, are a must-see natural phenomenon for travelers visiting Lapland in winter. Rovaniemi is one of the best places to witness this breathtaking display, and you can either join guided tours or venture out on your own to catch a glimpse of the magical lights dancing across the sky. The experience of seeing the green hues floating along like liquid electricity amidst an endless sky full of stars is truly unforgettable.
I recently had the incredible experience of visiting Rovaniemi, Finland, to see the Northern Lights, and it was truly unforgettable. Rovaniemi, known as the official hometown of Santa Claus, offers a magical setting for viewing the Aurora Borealis. The natural beauty of the Arctic landscape is breathtaking, and witnessing the Northern Lights here feels like stepping into a dream. The vivid colors and dancing lights across the night sky are mesmerizing, creating a spectacle that is both awe-inspiring and humbling. The guided tours in Rovaniemi are well-organized and led by knowledgeable guides who are passionate about the Northern Lights. They provided fascinating insights into the science and folklore behind the Aurora, enhancing the overall experience. The tours often include cozy campfires, hot drinks, and even photography tips to help capture the perfect shot of the lights. In addition to the Northern Lights, Rovaniemi offers a range of winter activities that complement the experience, such as husky sledding, reindeer safaris, and snowmobile excursions. These activities provide a deeper connection to the Arctic environment and local culture. Accommodation options are plentiful and cater to different preferences, from cozy lodges to luxurious glass igloos, where you can watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed. The hospitality in Rovaniemi is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home in this winter wonderland. Overall, my visit to Rovaniemi to see the Northern Lights was a magical adventure. The stunning natural phenomena, combined with the rich cultural experiences and friendly locals, make it a destination I would highly recommend to anyone looking to witness the beauty of the Arctic. It's an experience that will stay with me forever.

6Arctic Circle Line

4.6
(308)
•
Mentioned on
3 lists
The Arctic Circle Line is a significant circle of latitude located about 66.33 degrees north of the Equator. This line marks the beginning of the region known as the Arctic. It's a classic tourist attraction where visitors can enjoy taking humorous photos and participate in various activities. The area offers free parking, including overnight stays for RVs, friendly staff, and complimentary use of toilets. It's an ideal spot for photography, especially during winter when it's covered in snow.
A symbolic spot marking the crossing of the Arctic Circle, located right in the main square. You can wave to the live webcam, see yourself in real-time, or send a greeting to friends in other countries. In Santa’s Village, you can also buy a certificate confirming your Arctic Circle crossing—for €10, of course, because like most attractions here, almost everything comes with a price tag.
Karol K — Google review
What a rip off! Basically this is a set of posts in the middle of Santa’s Village and all Santa’s Village is is a set of concession stalls, cafes, a couple of Santa/winter related experiences and accommodation. The history is interesting but, for what it is, I’d do no more than stay in town and do a day trip to say you’ve been there. Look at what you want to achieve, see what else is on offer and manage your expectations.
Clive H — Google review
Great place to visit in winter. Most things closed during summer. Was still fun
Robert G — Google review
Fascinating, to be able to vist this place with latitude being 66 32 35 (just look at the ground of the large group picture, it is embedded there). It is the southern boundary for the Artic region and Northern parts of some countries like Canada, Russia, Scandenavia. It creates a phenomenon of having a 'midnight sun' wherein one has twilight and darkness throughout the winter timings and where the Sun doesn't set throughout the summers. Really awesome to get a certificate for being there in person. I loved every bit of the thrill I went through.
Neeru D — Google review
The line of the beginning of the arctic circle. This is found in Santa Claus village, and is easily accessible. Free to enter. Parking available. It's marked by large red lit up pillar lights and the line continues even going through a shop. The floor is also marked. Next to the pillars is a live webcam being streamed online so this is a busy area, as its often used for photography. Inside the information centre you can buy a certificate saying that you've crossed the arctic circle line. Definitely worth a visit. Out of season in October, or April is much quieter.
R J — Google review
My son and I had fun crossing the line. It’s free. Oddly, the visitor center will not tell you about it—probably because it is free 🧐
Heather P — Google review
Just the idea of crossing the Arctic Circle is worth 5 stars. Plus, there's the whole Santa Claus village, the chance to send postcards with a unique postmark, the opportunity to do lots of activities in the snow, and a shop selling local products. All this was made even better by the fact that we were there on Christmas Eve! How can I add a sixth star?

Theme park
Arctic Circle Husky Park, located next to Santa Claus Village in Lapland, Rovaniemi, is a popular seasonal attraction offering scenic dogsled tours led by a team of well-trained huskies through a wintery forest trail. In addition to dog sledding, visitors can enjoy activities like skiing, snowmobiling, and Northern Lights chasing. It's recommended to make reservations for the husky sleigh ride in advance to avoid crowds.
We had a wonderful visit to the Husky Park this summer! Our one-hour tour was both informative and fun. Juho, our guide, introduced us to all the huskies and shared interesting stories and facts about them. The highlight was definitely the end, where we got to feed the huskies and even try to pet them for about ten minutes—it was such a memorable experience. Highly recommend for anyone who loves dogs and wants a hands-on encounter with these beautiful animals!
Marius S — Google review
Had a great tour yesterday at the park with my wife and her family. We liked the tour very much, the animal welfare seems to be good and they are in the process of improving it further with new kennels and cages for the dogs that are being built as we speak. All the dogs have their own names, they retire their dogs too so they are not worked until they drop. Our tour guide was Hemi, who did a great job, I liked his passion and love of the job which came through well and he was a good character with a good personality and rather funny. I would recommend. Note tickets can only be bought on the day you intend to go for the tour - this wasn't an issue for us.
Sam B — Google review
We had a great experience getting to meet so many huskies. Alex was our guide and was super enthusiastic and gave a great tour of the husky park. There is no snow currently but the wheeled husky sled was still a great experience especially seeing how much the dogs loved to do their job. Would recommend!
Dommelit — Google review
It was extremely exciting for me to be able to visit this place. A bit of a wait to enter, since our guide was missing for a bit, trying to coordinate things at his end....but it was well worth it. Huskies were friendly, not that anyone could get scared of them either. Well trained and kept in warded off neat and clean kennels. It was equally worth to be able to walk around understanding the machines which were being used for the upkeep and maintenance to see the expansions happenings. Most of all to see the farm, which I had never ever been to ever before. Another thinking feather for me.
Neeru D — Google review
Amazing experience. Inka was a great guide and taught us lots of things about the husky lifestyle. The petting activities were super fun. And the dogs are cute.

We had a great experience at husky park, staffs are really kind and our tour guide Saku also very friendly. We can really get to know the husky and interact with them as well. Really recommend for anyone who will come to Santa village!

One of the best experiences at Santa’s Village. We didn’t booked in advance, we just buy the tickets at the entrance ,arrived at 10 am and it was no waiting time. After the husky ride we went on the tour, our guide was Katarina 100% recommend her if she’s around so dedicated, so kind and answer all our questions. Highly recommended!

We recently visited the husky park and really enjoyed the experience, kids loved all the dogs and really enjoyed the husky ride. Shame we didn’t have any snow but I’m sure it was just as good without. A Christmas Fairytale on Earth! Our whole family rates it 1000 out of 10. A wonderful place. The people working there are exceptionally warm – you truly feel like you’re in an elf kingdom. We visited in early November, and there were absolutely no queues. Everything is well thought out. For children, it’s a dream come true – and for adults, even more so. We took the VEP package, so we didn’t have to think about anything; everything was perfectly organized. We arrived at 10:00 and spent about 3.5 hours there. We were very pleasantly surprised by the elf performance – we didn’t expect it at all, and the 20-minute show was really engaging. There’s one place to eat – the food is simple but decent. So, if you’re wondering whether this place is worth visiting – don’t miss this experience!

Fantastic experience! It really conveys the spirit of the Christmas, much more than the Sanya’s Village. All the areas are very carefully designed to make you feel like you are in a real Christmas fairytale. The food and drinks were very nice, meeting Santa was cute and gingerbread bakery is very cozy and the train ride was so fun. We got to send the postcards for Christmas this year, which was an easy process and we are looking forward to receiving them in December. So many beautiful souvenirs to buy, all thematic and not the “cheap lousy one” and most importantly, they are so nicely positioned around the place you don’t feel that the only purpose of the whole setting is to sell, because of this subtle approach we ended up buying a lot. The biggest positive surprise was the elf show on the main stage, we loved it. This place made us feel like kids again and we would happily come back. Highly recommended.

We visited the Santa Park on 1 November 2025 and can't recommend this place highly enough for kids young and old who want to truly experience a magical Christmas experience in Lapland. We absolutely loved every second of it. Santa was so warm and friendly, the elves were super friendly and interacted with everyone, the train was magical, the elf school was surreal, the cookie decorating was like something out of a storybook and the elf show was heartwarming. We couldn't fault anything. It was our second trip to Rovaniemi to visit Santa with our four children and our first time visiting the Santa Park. It was the highlight of our time in Lapland. We can't wait to go back. Even the walk there through the forest from our apartment was magical. Well worth visiting!

Karhunjuomalampi route was beautiful and easy going. It was a bit difficult to find the starting point and that's why we walked it through from finnish to start. That's why we didn't have to walk up the almost 500 stairs and this suited us well. Routes are very easy and wide.

I did two very nice hikes in summer, lasting just around 3-4 hours each. One to the top of Luosto, and another to 'Pyhänkasteenputous ja -lampi' and the swamp area nearby. Both were very beautiful, and the paths were really good.

Wonderful support by the workers in the info station. Good infrastructure (grill huts/day huts/lean-to shelters). Perfect for hiking. Please note if you are new to Finland: there are lots of insects mostly mosquitos in here, so prepare for this. But don't hastate to go here, it is worth it (my opinion).

Nestled just an hour from Rovaniemi, Auttiköngäs is a stunning natural haven that beckons nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. This enchanting forested canyon features a mesmerizing waterfall, charming wooden log chutes, and well-marked hiking trails that wind through ancient woodlands. The area boasts pristine rivers and rustic cabins, remnants of its rich history—most notably untouched since the 1940s except for during the German occupation.
The 3.6 km loop trail starting from Auttiköngäs with metal stairs and supporting bars and ropes is doable in winter, although no formal winter route signed or prepared. The drive-in to the parking lot was marvelous.

We arrived in the winter so the water wasn't flowing, but the place was quiet and beautiful with a short walk from the parking lot to the place. In the parking lot there is a nice cafe with excellent hot chocolate that came just in time for the cold outside and a variety of delicious pastries.

Visited this place on a short day trip from Rovaniemi and it was one of the beautiful places. There was a good trail though a bit slippery being the end of April. Would highly recommend someone who loves nature and a short day hike.
Rajee J — Google review
Auttikongas is a combination of several things that makes it a unique place to visit. There's a scenic waterfall, a looping 3.5 km hiking nature trail that runs around that waterfall, a cafe that opens in the summer and a logging dam with information boards about its history. We visited the place in September. We did not try the hiking trail, but had some tea at the cafe and spent some time admiring the waterfall and the immediate surrounding area. The place looks serene and beautiful, with one side of the waterfall overlooking the calm river, while on the other side you can see the rushing rapids. The history of this place is that loggers in the past build a wooden flume as part of log floating, which part of it still remains today. To reach this place, you'll need to drive about 5 minutes along the gravel road from the main road. There are signboards informing you on where to turn. The parking space is open air and free for all. Really loved the scenery here and if you're feeling up for it, the place is ideal for half a day out excursion from Rovaniemi. The drive out here takes about an hour, and you can pair it together with Ranua Zoo further down south. You can also hike here, the trail is dog friendly as well. It was quite an experience to listen to the sound of rushing water as you take in the scenery. Loved it.

Nice trail for a small scale hike. Well marked, rough and beautiful views. Dog companions also considered. Camp fire spots in the middle of trail and next to the parking place. Tells story about finnish lumber history. There is also small café in an old building.
Merja M — Google review
Beautiful rapids and waterfall with a lovely 3.5km hiking trail. Easy to walk, well marked and with several info boards and places to sit and even make fire and food. Well worth a stop if driving by or staying in the area. There is also a small museum (no entrance fee) that tells about logging in 1800-1900's.

Visitors can enjoy daily shows and a variety of activities such as snowmobiling, sledding, zorbing, and football. The park also features warm igloos, light sculptures, a fire show, and circus games for children. Friendly staff and engaging entertainment make it an ideal destination for families seeking a unique winter adventure.
This is an amazing place to go as a family with plenty of activities. Whether you are going down the tube slide, going on the banana boat or ice skating, there is plenty to do for all ages. The kids used the zorbs, we all went down the slide, all went on the banana boat ride and got the chance to skate outdoors. The staff were fantastic to us. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are planning a visit with the kids to Rovaniemi in the winter!

Great place for winter adventures for kids. Plenty of activities. As an adult on my own I still enjoyed the experience. And loved all of the coloured lights throughout the park. Ice skating, banana boat ride, tube slide… definitely worth a look if that’s your thing.

Amazing place with amazingly pleasant and friendly stuff who greeted us even we before got in. A lot of activities from families and kids. We had a chance to ride on snow banana play bowling ,ice skating and not talking about all the lights. We also enjoyed the personal warm igloo where we could enjoy mulled vine , hot chocolate and one of theirs local hot drinks , play games or just have a relaxing time. Definitely highly recommend..

Absolutely beautiful place excellent prices, amazing staff, they couldn’t do more for you. Great food and drinks options. So much to do for the kids! Your ticket is for two days with so many games and much fun included. Highly recommend this is our second year coming here. Much more preferred more than Santa Claus village which is overcrowded. No wait times here so many options! Must see when in Lapland right in the city of Rovaniemi
Anna K — Google review
After seeing this online near to where we were staying we thought we would take a look. The price includes 3 tickets to play games to win cuddly toys, and 1 ticket per person for either banana boat or the kids snowmobile (the rules on who could go on the snowmobile were a little hit or miss). Our little one had the most fun on the zorbe balls but for the price paid overall it was underwhelming. If there’s nothing else to do of course pop on in, but it’s not somewhere you can spend too much time as you’ll make your way around the football pitch pretty quickly.
Jessica F — Google review
The experience is nice enough. It’s, I think, €28 per person. Kids under 3 are free. You get 2 days of access. There is a snow mobile, Zorbing, an ice hill with 2 tracks, a cafe, a banana boat, and ice skating. The toilets are in the furthest corner from anything, and were absolutely minging. The ice rink is too far away, why is the cafe (which stocks the skates + helmets) not next to it? Instead you have to either leave your shoes exposed to the elements or walk over in skates, it’s probably 200 metres on snow. The ice pad itself is good enough for what it is. The food left a lot to be desired and was nothing like the photos. I think the most expensive was maybe €11.50.

I had the time of my life here. There are many different light statues here and the circus act was nice to see too! The sliding area is really fun as well. The staff is really friendly and they even let us overstay a bit to finish painting. Thanks for the great experience!

SnowGlow Winterpark is an absolute gem and a must-visit when in Rovaniemi! The park is filled with endless fun, and the magical lights create an enchanting atmosphere that truly captures the spirit of winter wonderland. We have stunning photographs from our visit, which will serve as cherished memories of this incredible place. The staff were incredibly friendly and honest, making the experience even more special. We had purchased the Aurora Hunting tour alongside the park entry, but due to consistently bad weather, the cost of the tour was refunded without any hassle—a testament to their excellent service. Our 8-year-old daughter absolutely loved it, and we had just as much fun! SnowGlow Winterpark is perfect for families and anyone looking to experience the magic of winter. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rovaniemi!

Visitors can enjoy the serene nature while interacting with these adorable and energetic animals. The operating hours are from 10:00 to 16:00, providing ample time for visitors to explore without feeling crowded.
★★★★★ Amazing Experience with Bearhill Husky Tour! Our experience with Bearhill Husky Tour was absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized. The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the dogs, which made the experience even more special. The huskies were well cared for and full of energy, making the sled ride through the breathtaking winter landscape an unforgettable adventure. The scenery was stunning, and the opportunity to interact with the dogs after the ride was a wonderful touch. We truly appreciated the warm drinks and snacks provided, as well as the detailed information about the huskies and their training. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Lapland! Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and magical Arctic experience. Thank you, Bearhill Husky, for an unforgettable day!

A thrilling adventure at Bearhill Husky in Finland! What a fantastic experience! The dogs were full of energy and chomping at the bit to get going. At first, they seemed a bit aggressive, but we were reassured it was just pure excitement. Once we took off, you could really feel their power and enthusiasm forging ahead. The sleds move fast with the huskies leading the way, and cruising across the frozen lake was a moment in time I will never forget! I'm so glad I dressed warmly in layers with reliable snow boots. It was cold out there but I was prepared! They also had a room filled with everything you could possibly need to stay warm, puffy suits to put over your clothes, socks, boots, gloves, blankets, and more! The tour leader was incredibly passionate, sharing her knowledge about every aspect of dog sledding from grooming and training to the dogs' careers on the team and their well-earned retirements. It’s clear these dogs are well loved and very well cared for by the staff. It was an amazing experience I’d highly recommend!

It was a unique and incredible experience. They picked us up at an easily accessible meeting point and right on time. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed, and so were we during the tour. At the end, we had the opportunity to ask any questions we had about Huskies. Definitely worth it!

Bearhill husky was the highlight of our Rovaniemi trip. The driver who picked us up was the nicest man. Overalls and warm clothing was provided. The guide and sledge driver Adam were full of information about the dogs. We didn’t have snow so had carriages instead but we loved it despite the absence of snow. We learned alot about the differences of Alaska and Siberian huskies, the life and training of the dogs. Great day out, would 100% recommend. Biscuits and hot berry juice at the end was a nice treat.
Josephine K — Google review
You can tell that the Bearhill team has real experience. The support was super friendly, and the transportation from the city to the huskies was excellently organized. We were thrilled that we could take a tour with the huskies, as they pay close attention to the temperatures. It's clear that the team genuinely cares and is not just a tourist attraction. One of the highlights was playing with the puppies – they are just incredibly cute! To top it off, we had the opportunity to ask questions while enjoying juice and cookies around a campfire (just a heads up, your clothes might smell a bit smoky afterwards 😉). I’m sure a tour in winter would be even more beautiful, as you can explore the snowy landscape with the dogs. Highly recommended!

AMAZING! Our guide has great experience with husky, The ride was the perfect length and super relaxing, after the rides, the guide took us to husky holding area. We had the opportunity to ask any questions, they were super helpful and informative. They even gave soup, tea and coffee for lunch, was amazing! I genuinely couldn’t recommend this experience enough not just for the husky but for the people as well.

Arctic Circle Hiking Area, located just 7 km north of Rovaniemi in Lapland, Finland, offers a picturesque setting with tall trees, pristine lakes and rivers, and unique wildlife like reindeer, elk, and bears. The area is especially popular during the summer and fall when the landscape bursts into vibrant colors. Visitors can enjoy well-prepared hiking trails with facilities while being surrounded by magnificent nature.
Amazing place to go hiking near Rovaniemi. We did the 'Mire Nature Trail' and took about 3 hours, 10km. Views are wonderful! Easy trail in general, but need to take into account we did this early "winter"... do not know if it's possible with more snow... We got there via Apukka shuttle bus (16€ round-trip from Rovaniemi centre, departing 9:25h and returning at 13:20h). There's only this bus, so do not miss it! Once we finished, we had about 20min left so we went to see the huskies that are in the hotel next to it.
Mariona M — Google review
The Arctic Circle Hiking Area offers a wonderfully accessible and enjoyable taste of classic Finnish Lapland nature, conveniently located just a short drive north of Rovaniemi. It's not a vast, remote wilderness park, but rather a well managed area perfect for a day trip. Location & Accessibility: The hiking area is located roughly 20-25 km north of Rovaniemi city center. It’s easily reachable by car, since it's located close to the main E75 road. There are several starting points with parking areas, notably Vaattunkiköngäs and Vikaköngäs. The Hiking Experience: Expect typical Finnish forest landscapes. Predominantly pine and spruce forests, interspersed with mires, small lakes, and the Raudanjoki river with its rapids. The terrain is generally flat, making it accessible for everyone. The area has a network of well-marked trails ranging from short nature trails around 1-2 km, to longer loops up to 10 km, or even more if combining routes. The trails are mostly easy to moderate. This isn't the place for challenging alpine hikes, but rather for peaceful walks immersed in nature. It's excellent for families with children and casual walkers. Around April to May, the paths will be wet, muddy and icy in places, as the snow cover slowly melts. Boardwalks can be very slippery. Waterproof hiking boots are essential. Some trails might be difficult or temporarily impassable.
Tilo T — Google review
A beautiful place in nature. The trails are partly made of wooden footbridges and partly not. It depends on which route you choose whether it is longer or just short. 💡 The short route can be done with a stroller. It includes a nature trail for children. 🚗 There are plenty of parking spaces, free parking.
Adél H — Google review
Beautiful in summer, nice easy trails with distance options, bridges over the river rapids. A great stop if you're driving to the North or just looking for a nice nature experience near Rovaniemi. Free is a bonus!

A beautiful place , several options of walking trails. There are walkways suitable for wheel chairs and strollers . Longer walks partly boarded , wonderful facilities .
Jannelle S — Google review
Really enjoyed this trail that has duckboards most of the way. Easy drive from Rovaniemi. Lots of maps and other info at the start of the trail including 2 outhouses. First part of trail has lots of river crossings and views. Informative signs in Finnish, German, and English provide fun insights, especially for foreign travelers. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and saw only one other person. Most of the trail is incredibly quiet and peaceful, and it you bring some supplies and food there is a nice place to BBQ. Lots of mosquitos in early June but they only sting for a second and didn’t itch a lot like American mosquitos 🙂

Highly recommend the 3 hour Arctic circle hike managed by Apukka especially for young children. The stories by Vesa our guide was enriching. For us city dwellers it was a life lesson on being with nature and respecting the way of life. We learnt about berries, mushrooms, type of trees, leaves, birds and so much more. The tour includes hot drinks and snacks by a fire side. Vesa was kind and patient with our questions, excellent photographer and he being from the indigenous tribe made it enchanting and worthwhile. Nice trail, walking above the water on a woden deck with the lake and nature around. Take underconsideration that few parts of the rail the deck is a bit sank in the water so shoes can get wet.

Beautiful small trail near the city centre. Accessible almost year round. During spring floods the trail and the duckboards may be underwater. Good place to watch birds, especially during migration time of the year. There's a small bird watching tower at end of the trail. Dogs must be kept on leash. Only minus side is the traffic noise from the highway.
Petteri M — Google review
Don't make the mistake I did and come down here during winter, as the trail is not marked, and I spent a good hour rummaging my way through the thick snow. Still beautiful, however
Josip B — Google review
That's a cool place here, you can visit the whole island just walking around on duck boards! You're basically surrounded by nature, trees and water. For those getting there, if you don't see the entrance to it that's because you have to walk the stairs down, the spot is in the middle of the street, you see a fence and go for it. I found it closed but that doesn't mean the place itself is, so just open and start the trail.

Rovaniemi City Library, an architectural gem designed by the renowned Alvar Aalto, first opened its doors in 1966 as part of a revitalization effort for the city. This striking building features a spacious first floor that allows librarians to oversee the entire area while flooding it with natural light, even during the long winter months. The upper level is thoughtfully designed to separate lending and reading spaces, ensuring a peaceful environment for those immersed in their books.
Large library with long opening hours right in the city center. The building is unique. The collection of books is huge. There are plenty of seats. The WLAN is free of charge. Free lockers are available for luggage. The team on site is very friendly.

Designed by renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, this beautiful city library is free to visit. It is probably the most equipped library I've ever visited with 3D printer, lockers, meeting rooms, music library with drums and guitars, etc. There is also a Lapland section with books on Sami people, aurora, etc. For English readers, there are many books in English. Did not stay for long, but while I was there it was a quiet and peaceful place to browse/study. A friendly Finnish man also approached to share about Aalto's buildings around Rovaniemi.

What a beautiful place to read, study or just relax. Great recessed reading areas with power points under the tables (though not enough for every seat, so check carefully). Free Wi-Fi - the password is on sheets of paper on the desks. Free clean toilets in the building. A whole separate room of its own for Lapland literature, so if you ever needed a section for reindeer care, this is the place ;)
