Nothe Fort is a captivating open museum located in a Victorian coastal fort with intricate tunnels and captivating film and diorama displays. Originally constructed between 1860-1872, the fort has been repurposed into a museum showcasing coastal defense artifacts, exhibitions, and interactive displays. Visitors can immerse themselves in the historical significance of wartime technology while enjoying special events held throughout the year. Additionally, dog owners can bring their furry companions to explore the green spaces surrounding the fort.
Amazing place to visit steeped in history for construction, dereliction in the 70's to restoration to what it is today. There's a lot to see with interactive displays and exhibits for the younger visitors. It took us 2 visits to see it all which is another plus for the place as the ticket price doubles as an annual pass. The on site catering facilities are excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and on hand to chat and discuss anything you may want to ask them. It's a remarkable place and we're glad we visited. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for something to do in Weymouth and you can then enjoy the gardens after your visit if you have time.

The scenery here is truly breathtaking — a perfect blend of history, nature, and the sea all in one place. It’s a spot that definitely deserves more appreciation and care. While the natural beauty is undeniable, the area would benefit from better maintenance and cleanliness. Adding more benches and picnic tables would make it even more enjoyable for families and visitors. The restroom facilities don’t seem to fully meet the needs of the visitors either. Still, despite these small shortcomings, it’s a magnificent place where you can relax, enjoy the view, and feel completely refreshed."
Emel D — Google review
An absolutely brilliant experience that takes you on a journey of the history of the original Victorian fort through two World Wars and then the Cold War, when part of the fort was used as a Nuclear Bunker. The films and exhibits are superb and the D-Day exhibition, which highlights the role of Weymouth in the D-Day landings and Operation Overlord, is outstanding. There are also amazing views across Weymouth, the Jurassic Coast and Portland. There's a great little café too! It's well worth the entrance fee!
Chris K — Google review
A wonderful place to visit. There are lifts to the different levels and the majority of items are step free. There are well laid out ramps that are suitable for wheelchairs. There is plenty of parking which is not free outside the venue. There is a sloping down hill walk go the entrance. A well stocked shop which you enter and exit the site. There is a large cafe and lots of seating inside and out. Disabled toilet next to the cafe. The rooms around the site are well laid out with lots of information
Abi S — Google review
Brilliant afternoon here with my wife and parents. The fort has loads of information about its history over its three levels in its labyrinthine tunnels and has spectacular coastal views looking out across the English Channel. I would definitely recommend this amazing place allow yourself up to four hours to go round the fort.
Ashley W — Google review
Excellent experience. Great day out. Lots of interesting exhibitions and a maze of tunnels. The cold War exhibits and nuclear bunker really interesting. Lovely cafe serving light lunches volunteers very friendly and helpful, the accessibility very good there is a lift that goes from the ramparts all the way down to the tunnels. Lots of ramps everywhere very impressive
Rachel D — Google review
Nothe Fort is a fascinating historic site with amazing views over Weymouth Bay and the harbour. The fort is well preserved, with interesting exhibits, tunnels, and displays that bring its history to life. The staff and volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit even more enjoyable. A perfect mix of history, scenery, and fun — a must-visit attraction in Weymouth!

An absolutely brilliant place to visit. Every member of staff was polite, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The whole experience was fantastic but stumbling upon the Nuclear shelter was an unexpected highlight. Would 100% recommend

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Weymouth Beach is a popular destination in Dorset, known for its three miles of golden sands and clear blue waters. It offers stunning views of the bay and the Jurassic Coast. The beach is conveniently located just minutes from the town center and hosts various seaside events and attractions, such as the Jurassic Skyline gondola ride and Sandworld's sand sculpture festival.
Weymouth Beach is one of the most beautiful and family-friendly beaches on the south coast of England. With its *golden sand*, *gentle waves*, and *shallow waters*, it’s ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and beach games. The beach is clean, well-maintained, and has lifeguards during peak times, adding to the safety and comfort. There’s a classic British seaside charm here, with *donkey rides*, *ice cream stands*, *punch and judy shows*, and plenty of cafés and shops nearby. The long promenade is perfect for a walk with sea views, and there's easy access to toilets and seating areas. A perfect spot for a relaxing day out with family or friends — peaceful, scenic, and full of coastal charm. Highly recommended!
Muhammad K — Google review
Excellent beach, dog’s allowed on west beach only until 30th September, plenty of parking but at £4.80/hr near the sea front a bit expensive, if you are prepared to walk it is cheaper near the swannery car park. Plenty of shop’s, cafe’s, etc. Worth a visit
Lawrence O — Google review
Lovely area, we attend the motocross annually and always great atmosphere and brilliant stalls with plenty of food options. Shops and easy parking nearby, handy disabled spaces down the seafront.
Casey B — Google review
Weymouth Beach is a beautiful and clean seaside spot with soft pebbles and clear waters. The gentle waves and scenic views make it perfect for a peaceful walk or relaxing by the shore. The promenade nearby adds to the charm with plenty of cafés and ice cream stalls. A lovely place to enjoy the classic English seaside atmosphere!
Harsha J — Google review
A beautiful clean beach Its always warm on the sea front Plenty of places to sit or eat. Definitely recommend Weymouth its lovely
Angel D — Google review
One of many amazing beaches on the Dorset coast, not as easy to find a parking space unless you use the car parks either end of the beach or use the park and ride from outside the town. Once there the lovely well looked after beaches are so beautiful and through the summer many families enjoy and use the many amenities for souvenirs and snacks to evening meals with plenty of restaurant choice. It has a all year dog friendly beach either side of main beach and dog friendly everywhere after 30th September. The harbour and Nothe fort walks are amazing too.
Graeme B — Google review
I really enjoyed our walk on the beach. Wide open beach, plenty of cafes and restarants, arcades and friendly people all around. We were there in October so I can imagine it is gets very busy in summer But I would recommend going off peak
Hersha C — Google review
We went in late october. Drizzling with rain on and off but it is still gorgeous there. Lovely long sandy beach. Dogs are allowed. And just crossed the road to shops and cafe.

Weymouth Harbour is a vibrant and bustling boating marina with a rich history dating back to Roman times. It remains a thriving destination, attracting pleasure boats and offering shower facilities. The harbor played significant roles in historical events such as the Spanish Armada and the Civil War. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque sight of fishing boats, colorful houses, and nearby sandy beaches.
Weymouth harbour is a traditional and long in history. It is very beautiful in colour and atmosphere. They are pletty of pubs cafes, fish and chips, and sea food fresh that day. Colourful houses. It's great for crabbing and also has music festivals on the other side. Weymouth is a traditional seaside town, with a beautiful beach and so much to do.
Hug D — Google review
Very enjoyable stroll along both sides of this picturesque harbor & town. Arrived on a cruise ship, opting to venture out on our own & soak up some uniquely European ambiance in this - our first port across 'the pond' - since crossing over from Florida ... Mission Accomplished👍
Dave B — Google review
Beautiful harbour surrounded by lovely shops, cafes, pubs & restaurants. It’s lovely just to sit and watch the comings and goings of the boats.
Tracey K — Google review
I love the place. I walk about the place at least once a day. The place always looks different. Morning, afternoon or Night time. It can get very very busy around the harbour on both sides when it's warm and the holiday season. Plenty of places to buy food and other shops. They also do a Christmas day swim across the harbour. Which I found pretty cool as it was Christmas day and the place was the busiest I had seen it at any one give time. The land train buzz's round that way also when it's running. Also a good place too park your Boat up and tease me 😂
Joe S — Google review
Good to see an active fishing industry in the harbour. There are brightly coloured houses lining the harbour waterfront and a few quayside pubs, cafes and restaurants. Seems like the place for fresh seafood although I was too early in the morning for that.
Chris G — Google review
Absolutely love this place it's like heaven totally my vibe so much to see and do
Shelley K — Google review
Been to harbour side for a walk. Such an elegant view from the bridge. Colourful buildings just amazing and making very different impact on the atmosphere around harbour area. Just beautiful place, water, blue sky, fishing boats, excellent pubs, nice eating places, happy people and charming atmosphere. I'm so happy that came to this place and spend my all day this lovely city.
Win T — Google review
So much too see, plenty places to eat and drink, lots of people walking, dinning, sailing, crabbing and so much more. Lovely atmosphere, We went to the "Quayside" for cake and coffee, we sat outside as the sun was shinning, friendly and pleasant staff and the coffee and cake were delicious. The bridge had just gone up, lots of people on the quayside both sides waiting to cross. Boats exiting and entering Weymouth harbour. All was very Very enjoyable.

Aquarium
SEA LIFE Centre Weymouth is a renowned tropical paradise in the heart of a vibrant city, offering family-friendly exhibits with a variety of sea creatures. Visitors can explore coral caves, lagoons, and ocean depths to marvel at sharks, stingrays, otters, seahorses, and giant crabs. The park is known for its great conservation work and features rescued sea turtles, seals, penguins (including Fairy Penguins), sharks, rays, and more.
Lovely aquarium. We had an amazing time. The fish have plenty of space and seem happy, as do the penguins and other animals. Staff were friendly. Facilities were clean and well cared for. We came out of season, but I can imagine it would be amazing in the summer. They have lots of activities for kids, including a little water play area.
Lisa P — Google review
Went here on a lovely sunny and warm day which is great as a lot of the attractions are outside and ideal for young kids that can play in the play park and water splash areas. Not as many inside tank areas as in other sea life centres. Good access for wheelchair users. Blue badge parking adjacent to the premier Inn car park. Wheelchair accessible toilets are quite small.
Steven P — Google review
I had a good time at Sea Life, everything was clean and the exhibits were well presented. That said, I’d recommend going on a weekend when the full experience is available. Visiting on a Monday meant only the drinks section of the gift shop (located at the exit) was open, and the food kiosks were shut, which was a letdown if, like me, you fancy a drink and a bite to eat during your visit. The signage could definitely be improved. We had to exit through the Shark section just to find our way out via the gift shop, and we weren’t the only ones, other visitors ended up following me through the same confusing route. Overall, it was a decent few hours out, but for a smoother, more complete visit, especially with family - I’d say stick to the weekend.
Clare B — Google review
We visited on a weekday in early November and spent just over 2 hours here. We were very surprised at the size of the site and the large variety of animals housed here. The aquarium is spread out over a few buildings, each housing a themed exhibition from rock pools to rainforests and coral reefs. Each exhibit includes detailed information signs and screens providing more information about the animals and marine life houses here. They also host a variety of free talks and feeding sessions throughout the day and we found these to be very informative. Our highlight was visiting the seals in their open-air pool with underwater viewing area. In addition to the aquarium exhibits, there are also a variety of play areas and other attractions which would certainly keep younger visitors entertained (and could easily extend the visit from a few hours to a day out). There is also a gift shop and cafe at the exit. The site is fairly flat and there are tarmac paths throughout which would make it very accessible for prams, buggies and wheelchairs. There are also lots of signs and maps dotted around the site (as well as the free map they give you when you enter) so you can easily find the exhibits you are looking for. You are also able to pop out and return later in the day if needed. The staff here were all very friendly and helpful and also incredibly knowledgeable. They were a credit to Sea Life and made us feel very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Sea Life Weymouth and would happily return in future.
Gethin S — Google review
Perfect place to visit with family or if you love sea life. It’s not as big as the one in London which I visited before, but it’s still a really nice one. If you can, try to get there around 1 PM so you can catch all the feeding times. The place is small but very well designed, and you don’t really need a guide. Just grab a map from the entrance and you’ll easily find your way around. The one thing I felt was missing was food. There were souvenir shops everywhere, but a coffee machine or a small snack corner inside would’ve been great. The only spot for a warm drink was the cafeteria at the exit. Other than that, it’s a fun and relaxing experience
Ernesto — Google review
We had a lovely visit to the Sea Life Centre in Weymouth. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and the whole place was clean and well looked after. The kids enjoyed seeing all the different sea creatures, and it was a fun family day out overall. That said, we were quite frustrated that none of the refreshment shops were open until the very end. By the time we reached the exit café, it was a bit too late. For the price of the tickets, we were expecting a bit more from the experience. Still, we had a great time and made some nice memories.
Brad R — Google review
Very accessible for a scooter user, only one bridge by the otters wasn't but there was another way around. The aquariums are indoors but you go outside to get to each one and to see the penguins and otters, be aware of this and have a poncho with you!
Peters P — Google review
This is a really small Sea Life, 2 hours and you will have seen everything. The animals and fish appear well cared for. The staff are well informed, courteous and friendly. The cafe by the gift shop served good coffee and had a fair selection of snacks available.

Sandworld Weymouth is a captivating gallery featuring impressive sand sculptures and a hands-on sand pit for visitors to unleash their creativity. The exhibition showcases the remarkable work of renowned sand sculptors, with themes changing annually. This year's display revolves around sci-fi films and TV series, offering an opportunity to witness artists crafting their masterpieces throughout the season. Additionally, the venue houses a charming coffee shop for guests to relax and enjoy refreshments.
This is such a great place to visit especially if you have children! There are some super sculptures to look at, but the hands on activities were a hit with my little girl. She enjoyed using the sand equipment to create her own tower and later she used the sand art to create her own personalised gift. The staff were all friendly and the prices in the cafe were also reasonable.
Rosie B — Google review
My girls really enjoyed Sandworld. They are 8 years and 1 year. The sand sculptures are amazing. Lots for children to do, sand art and then play areas to build castles etc....We were there about 2 hours. They have a cafe which we got a drink and snack from, a good choice of items. This is a perfect rainy day activity as it is 90% under cover.
S A — Google review
This place is fascinating! The sculptures are amazing and spectacular to see. I really liked the fact that you can see some inspired by pop culture like Disney movies or Harry Potter. My favorite was Fantastic Beasts! The museum is quite small but there’s also a little game to win some candies at the end of your tour. It gives a bit of fun to the visit even if you’re an adult. I really liked it and would love to come back in the future to see the next sculptures.
Melanie M — Google review
We visited Sandworld while we were visiting Weymouth. This is a great place for families to visit there us so much to do. There is something for everyone of all ages. It's an amazing place , seeing different figures such as paddington bear being sculptured out of sand. The gift shop and admissions are reasonably priced.

*Sandworld* in Weymouth is a unique and fascinating attraction that showcases the incredible art of sand sculpting. Located near the beach, this indoor exhibition features *amazing life-sized sand sculptures* crafted by talented artists from around the world. The themes change each year — from movies and history to fantasy and wildlife — making every visit feel fresh and exciting. It’s both fun and educational, with informative displays about the artists and techniques. Kids especially love the interactive sandpit area where they can try sculpting themselves. Perfect for families, art lovers, or anyone looking for something creative and different in Weymouth. A hidden gem worth visiting!
Muhammad K — Google review
Oh boy... This was fun. Special thanks to Fynn- we had a blast. Incredible what sand and water can do with kinda adults. The sculptures were pretty incredible to watch, also some information signs stood by nearly each piece of art. You can grab a tin of cold drink, have a snack, make your own colourful sand bottle or most fun part: try your best doing sand sculptures. Fynn showed us how to work with the material and then it was our turn to try.... What else to say? We're highly recommended this attraction for few hours of fun (also as grownups!)
Melanie B — Google review
We enjoyed our trip to Sandworld! Its only small but we still spent time there, the displays are fascinating to look at and read about! There was a quiz to do as you go round which encouraged you to read more! The cafe was good, we just had a drink and a slice of blackberry crumble cake which was delicious. The gift shop has interesting bits and is very fair in price.

Sandsfoot Castle, a cliffside castle ruin dating back to the 16th century, is renowned for its tranquil gardens and stunning sea views. Originally built in 1539 as part of Henry VIII's coastal defense strategy, the Tudor artillery castle was eventually abandoned by the military in the mid-17th century.
We walked from chesil Beach to sands foot we did not know this was here, lovely gardens and a nice little cafe with Toilet and Henry v111 Castle. we had lovely ice cream a 99 nice and creamy go a long you will enjoy

Great place to relax and enjoy the views across to Portland. Has a lovely kiosk on site offering refreshments with lovely staff there. Can be busy on sunny days and weekends. Beautifully maintained gardens and water feature. Perfect place to chill with a good book, a coffee and bite to eat.

Beautiful scenery across the bay, relaxing, plenty of places to sit amongst the beautiful gardens. Cafe serving wonderful snacks, we had amazing clotted cream scone, whole strawberries🍓. Castle ruins lovely to see, fenced off due to damage but still amazing to see/read about it.

A haven of flora and fauna..... Still fish in the pond... And it so reminds me of the other beautiful gardens .. Green hill.. I usually pop in,on the way along the rodwell trail..x Which in itself is a Joy too the eye.. Especially between the two bridges.. Where nature has turned it into a beautiful unexpected valley of nature trees. There's actually badger sets . Anyway back too sandsfoot. The castle is in ruins ,and has been that way all of my life. you could get down a staircase onto the little beach ⛱️... Still can get down too the beach if you walk further up the road from the castle.. Which is ideal for families. There a path ,like I said down too the beach . And this path (underbarn)eventually goes too the other large park across a bridge ... The Nothe... Which is more busy but beautiful views and one or two nice little cafes . Especially the one in the stone pier ... Which actually bakes it own cakes .✨⛱️💯🧑‍🍳🥯🥪🍝

The gardens were well maintained and great to spend an hour to relax with castle ruins in the background. The Rodwell trail starts just uphill from here and is the best route for getting to isle of Portland on foot. My only negative is that there were nettles obstructing some of the sea view

Nature & Parks
Lodmoor Country Park, located in Weymouth, Dorset, England, is a sprawling 300-acre public park offering a wide range of recreational activities and leisure facilities. Visitors can enjoy nature trails, picnic areas with barbecue spots, playgrounds for children, and even a cafe and pub serving hot food. The park also features attractions such as a mini-train ride and an aquarium. Additionally, it hosts various events including car rallies and circuses.
The food festival was amazing. I have been to quite a few food festivals, and my biggest gripe is, there are food stalls from around the world, but they all have UK people cooking. Here the Greek food was cooked by Greeks. Thai food cooked by Thais. ETC. Plenty of toilets. A stand pipe to refill your water bottle. Great bands and stalls.
Paul E — Google review
Great place to visit, easy spend the whole day here.lots this, including Sea Life crazy golf, beach across the road, sand sculpture, pitch and putt, fitness equipment, go carts , crazy gold, train ride, plenty of walks and top it all of nature reserve. Brewers Fare to eat. The park is fab for picnic. Lots for kids. Or park and go across to the beach.
Hug D — Google review
It's a quiet, green park with plenty of room for walking, hiking, circling or dog walking. Next to the park is a parking. There is an old playground for children under 10 years old. Not too much entertainment for children. I was struggling to find a BBQ zone, it's only two places for it next to a playground but it looks like it was used for a long time ago. On the territory of the park you can visit the Sea Life Center or Sand World. You have to pay for it. The price you can find on the websites of its events. Nice place for a piece of mind.

Start location for a 13 mile sponsored walk, organised (wonderfully well) by Macmillan cancer support, along the incredible and (literally) breathtaking Jurassic Coast. Nearly 1000 took part in this incredible event, one of many Mighty Hikes arranged across the UK. A very special day indeed.

It was an amazing experience it was clean and lots of fun I would recommend the sea life and sand world it's a good place to have children playing in the sea life there's Evan a facility we're you can touch the starfish
Jazmine C — Google review
Nice play areas for kids with plenty of picnic areas. Sand world was nearby which has some of the most amazing sand sculptures plus the sand sculpting for the kids and helpful staff were great

Really rough park on the outsirts of Weymouth Google reviews looked good but were not, Its really run down and pretty sure there were a few "down and outs" shooting up , There is no play park unless u class 3 pieces of run down gym equipment a park ? - The sea life centre is close by and looks like the good reviews u read should be for that Not this park , The car parks expensive too , avoid this place it's not worth the trip (0 Stars)
Pete C — Google review
The park is rubbish in the heat! All the grass has burnt and picnics were literally impossible. We went to Sealife. Buy tickets in advance! The on the door price is significantly higher! We paid £78 for a family of 4 to get in. Otherwise, there's nothing much to see, than litter, burnt out grass, overpriced car park and unkempt nature spots... We might have visited at the wrong time, hope your visit is better.

Families can enjoy the Fantasy Island Fun Park on the beach, while kite flying and dog walking are also popular activities.
Lovely beach, lots of places for food and drink, there's fantasy island here too. The beach is quite stoney so be aware of what footwear to put on. Nice walking around here on any day.

A very nice place , beach is a stone beach but once in the sea it's sandy and a nice swim. Lovely area and walks and entertainment.
Peter J — Google review
Bowleaze cove is well worth the visit. With music, drinks, food, and ice cream, what's not to love. A relaxing day out to just watch the surf, go for a swim or relax reading your book whilst the children build sandcastles. Or take them to the fun amusement park to spend their holiday pennies. Some great spots for kite flying too whether an adult or child. For those water sports lovers out there, you can hire equipment for a fun day out. 😀 This beach is dog friendly too, which is an added bonus if you are out with your dogs. Take your beach shoes or a beach mat to sit on, as the stones can be uncomfortable on sensitive soles. Overall, well worth the visit. There is a fantastic holiday park there too for added fun. Waterside Southshore.

Very family orientated, beach is quite busy but you can find more less crowded parts if you walk down the beach a little further. There is a fish and chip shop which is really good, plenty of places to sit and eat outside. Lots of variety at the ice cream shop too.

Miniature golf course
Weymouth Pirate Adventure Mini Golf is an exciting destination for families and friends looking to enjoy a fun-filled day. Located just a short drive from the bustling Esplanade, this mini-golf course offers a unique swashbuckling experience where players can navigate through obstacles like galleons, treasure chests, and gunpowder barrels. Not only does it provide entertainment for all ages, but it also educates visitors about legendary pirates and their thrilling escapades.
30 April 2025 - We recently visited a mini-golf course that exceeded our expectations! The decor was beautifully designed, creating an inviting and fun atmosphere. Each hole flowed seamlessly into the next, making the experience enjoyable and engaging. The layout was well thought out, offering aq variety of challenges that kept us entertained throughout our game. Having visited several mini-golf courses during our vacation, I can confidently say that this one stands out. Additionally, the owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding a personal touch to our visit. It's clear that they take pride in their establishment, which truly enhances the overall experience. I highly recommend this mini-golf course to anyone looking for a fun outing!

Whilst on our weeks holiday we visited the Weymouth Mini Golf on 25.06.2025 and had a lovely time (three of us) playing the 18 holes. Plenty of laughter especially when my wife managed a hole in one 🙂

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had such a brilliant time at Pirate Golf! The whole place was really clean, tidy, and very well kept – you can tell a lot of care goes into maintaining it. It’s also fantastic value for money, which makes it even better. The kids and I absolutely loved it – lots of fun, laughs, and a great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Great experience, well run course, quite easy, so good for kids. No shade so take water & sunscreen. Very reasonably priced. Can get busy in peak season but that's to be expected. Parking in Brewers Fayre next door is free for 3 hours for customers too so worth bearing in mind.

It also has a cafe with fair prices with ample seating for adults to sit and watch there children play. It also has lots of parking in all a great value place where your children can have an amazing time in safety. Sorry forgot to say they also do children's party for a fair price as well check out my pics

Plenty of activities for the children. Place was clean (for a soft play) and my two did not get bored in the 2.5 hour session. Highly recommend. Only downside is having to call or contact via Facebook messenger to find out if the day sessions are running. Their website could benefit from a calendar that can be updated by owners remotely. Overall great experience would recommend.

Location was clean, equipment was of good quantity, plenty for my 3 year old to do. He had a good time. Food was lovely and reasonably priced too. 3 hours is plenty in there for the kids to run around and the seating area allows you to see the children no matter where they are in the play area.

Huge play area. Great food, really good idea to serve a breakfast for everyone whilst the kids play. I haven't been to a soft play that serves proper English fry ups so this was a bonus. Staff are friendly and my son loved the play area.

Take my toddlers here most weeks. All members of staff are lovely and helpful. Very accommodating for buggies, will happily reserve a table for you if you ask so you don't have to take the buggy up the stairs. The kids love it here, Inc my tween. Free kids dinner when attending the after school session, jugs of squash available to keep drinks costs down. Best to call and book your session in advance as they can get busy.

Lovely little indoor play area for kids A big part for older kids and a little area for under 3. Wasn't overly expensive £13.90 for 2 kids age 9 and 10 we got 2 half hours play. Food and drinks is good and fairly priced ( chips were yummy) ( I phoned and booked the day before, but I didn't pay until we arrived on site ) Only 5 minutes up the road from haven little sea. X

Perfect place to chill out with the kids. Very good food and nice and welcoming staff/owners. My daughter and I were allowed to play Lazer quest just before they closed and it made our holiday. I work 6/7 days a week most of the year and they opened it for us just before closing and it was fantastic. Very kind deed which desires respect for any business owner. We will definitely recommend and return.

Very affordable and friendly place to visit with the kids. The toddler session is especially good value. It was quiet and the staff were friendly. The soft play is large and well laid out for parents to keep an eye on their kids. If I had one complaint, the soft play needs a good clean!

Weymouth Pavilion, situated on the harbor wall at the southern end of the esplanade, has a rich history dating back to its construction in 1908 as the Ritz Theatre. Despite being requisitioned during WWII and later destroyed by fire in 1954, it still exudes vintage seaside charm. The theater hosts a variety of shows including music performances, wrestling matches, and dance classes. It is particularly popular during summer with family-friendly shows.
A great venue offering a wide variety of high quality entertainment. Phil and Lou have brought this theatre complex to life over the years. Their sensitivity to both local and more distant audiences tastes and needs is uncannily accurate. One of the best happenings that Weymouth has had the honour of experiencing. You have breathed life into a once nearly doomed (by our out of touch council) iconic building. Long live the Say family.

Decent theatre with good views of the stage even up on the circle. The sound is pretty good, the bar is reasonably priced and the view from the 1st floor bar is lovely. Bennetts Water Gardens is a picturesque landscape featuring ponds, lakes, a Japanese bridge, and a local history museum. The gardens cover eight acres of land that was once an old brickworks clay quarry. It is home to the National Plant Collection of water lilies and offers grassy walking areas, woodland trails with wheelchair access, and a Tropical House showcasing warm-climate plants. The venue also serves as an ideal location for weddings with its vibrant colors and serene ambiance.
Beautiful idyllic place with many kinds of water lilies and other plants. Visiting and admiring takes about an hour, although it is worth booking a little longer. There is a cafe and toilets on site. There are several gazebos where you can sit, a few small benches around the ponds, as well as a picnic area with a game of checkers. The picnic area is small (two tables). A nice place for a family or friendly walk. A wonderful place for artists, painter's to catch their inspiration. Dogs are not allowed in the gardens. In June, there were lots of lilies, a heron, small and large swans and ducks, and lots of dragonflies. The price list can be found on the website. Group entries should be booked in advance. The car park has about 20 free spaces, spaces for disabled people are located closer to the entrance. I recommend it.

So beautiful! Lots of places to sit and enjoy the pools. Lots of wildlife and gorgeous lilies to see. There is an accessible route around the gardens.

A hidden gem of a water garden. We have driven past so many times without taking note of the signs. It’s set in a secluded clay pit and has been extensively developed since its days a Lilly farm. Good parking facilities especially the cafe. There are picnic facilities but tables are limited so take a blanket. Allow yourself 4hours including either lunch and a browse of the plant shop. Nice but limited range of plants specific to their conditions. My only comment was that on the bank holiday afternoon the cashier was perhaps not the best person to handle and pack plants. Rather robust handling left broken leaves on our return home. Health plants have now settled in nicely. We will certainly visit again probably later in May when more of the Lille’s would be in flower.
Andrew B — Google review
Beautiful. Starts well with an enthusiastic and informative welcome. Lovely pathways between the ponds although not all suitable for wheels. The lilies were just starting to bloom and other nature was ready to show off. Swans with cygnets, a single heron and more dragon flies than you can keep track of. Finished off with a lovely coffee and sandwich. Well worth a visit.

This was our first visit and it certainly won't be our last. This is a glorious place to visit if you love Water Lilies, Dragon Flies and Damsel Flies 😍😍😍We couldn't believe how massive and beautiful these gardens are. Fantasy Island, located in Bowleaze Cove, Weymouth, is a delightful amusement park offering a wide variety of rides and attractions suitable for the entire family. From classic favorites like bumper cars and spinning teacups to thrilling experiences such as the ghost train and flying elephants, there's something for everyone. The park also features an arcade with various games and a soft play area for younger children.
The funfair has been taken over by the water park. Everything is brand new. it looks great. You buy tokens or wristband at a good price 12 tokens for £10 or wristband for 3 hours £15.99. It has a brand new arcade with pletty of machines with tickets. The beach is 2mins away near the bar, food and soft play. Has many rides like ghost train merry go round, bumper cars trampoline small big wheel and many more. All at great price if got young kids.
Hug D — Google review
I can't comment on the rides as it was closed when I visited but walking through you get a sense of lots of screaming and laughter with rides for all ages. Loads of eateries and ice cream scattered around the complex and lots of parking at £1 an hour in September. With the beach right there too easy choice to entertain the kids.

Great prices for a wristband that you have unlimited rides for 3 hours! My little one has enjoyed all her recent visits we have been 3 times in 2 weeks. All the employees are kind and hard working to make sure all are entertained and having a great time!! Special mention to Craig, Mark and Peter on our visits these guys have gone above and beyond!! Deffo worth a visit for older and younger children and adults!!

We bought 25 tokens for £20 and lasted ages as rides were 1 or 2 tokens. Dodgems were 3 tokens per dodgem. Our little 3 year old was well amused by it all, no queues rides seemed to last for ages. Well worth it.
Elizabeth H — Google review
Took my soon and nephew here yesterday, both under the age of 5. It cost £25 in total for two wrist bands for 3 hours of unlimited rides and time in the soft play which is really reasonable considering how many times they went on the rides and how long they had in the soft play. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly considering they were incredibly short staffed, they handled the day really well. Mark was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for the kids. Considering it was a busy summer holiday and there were staff shortages I can’t fault the staff at all, I can only image how stressful the day was for them and they didn’t show it at all.
Gemini P — Google review
Absolutely amazing day making great family holiday memories. All the staff were friendly and helpful but a big shout out to Mark and Alfie who worked their socks off to make sure everyone had a great day. Alfie operated all the rides with a smile on his face even when it started to rain a little. Mark was very helpful explaining the ride wristbands. Two great employees who clearly have a passion for making sure their guests have a great day. Definitely recommend a visit it’s a great place for the little ones to play.
D E — Google review
We had a good time here today, but was some disappointment with my children. They are aged 7-12 and had a limited number of rides each because the rides were height limited, so the older ones were too tall for some and the youngest was too small for others! He was gutted that he's just got tall enough to drive bumper cars elsewhere, but here the minimum height was 10cm more than everywhere else, so he couldn't do it. Price is reasonable, we paid £16 each for three hours unlimited, but they only went on a few rides each due to the height restrictions and just repeated those. I was also a bit disappointed that I had paid £16 each for three children and then still had to pay extra to park too. I get that there's parking for the beach too, but it would be nice if there was some concession for those paying in the funfair

RSPB Radipole Lake is a serene nature reserve located in the heart of Weymouth, offering picturesque wetlands and pathways for observing various waterfowl species like swans and ducks. The reserve features a family-friendly discovery center housed in a charming thatched cottage, providing information about the diverse birdlife that can be spotted from the wooden walkways across the wetlands.
So many birds in the reserve just watchingthem by the cafe. There was also fish in the water ,alot my friendsfush here.. It's a nice long walk and you can spend most of the day there. It's a 20 min walk to rspb lodmoor. Good to see they laid a new layer on the path, as it gets flooded and can't walk through. Enjoyable walk around, peaceful and quite.

Beautiful place with a quaint little café overseeing the lake. Lots of bird species can be seen here, such as Marsh Harriers, cormorants, bearded tits, swans, herons, and lots of other birds too!
Flower V — Google review
Entry was free. The thatched building has a cafe with a large window to view part of the lake and some outdoor seating. You have to be prepared for the fact that a lot of the area is covered in reeds which are necessary for the birds to nest and be safe. I saw ducks, carp, swans, sygnets, heron, swallows, marsh harrier. It's a lovely peaceful place to walk around. It's a five star space for the animals. The only downside for me was the fact that I could always hear the hum of traffic in the distance, hence 4 stars.

Lovely to have such a natural area open to the public. Some of the pathways are a bit overgrown. Sadly lots of litter and graffiti on seating areas. Lots of parking. ( pay to park). Now to the cafe….. I took my elderly mum in for a coffee and a cake. The server was unbelievably rude. Muttering under her breath. Every thing we asked for she tutted and eye rolled and told us it wasn’t available. Now to the rude bit. My mum is 88 years young. She is sprightly and alert. She is a little hard of hearing. This server asked my mum, “do you want a big plate or a small plate for your scone”? Before my mum could answer she said “oh just have a big plate” and banged it on the counter. The server then shouted “do you want just butter or butter and jam”? My mum started to answer and the server talked over her, “of course you do don’t you” she turned her back in my mum and slammed the fridge door after getting out the butter. She tutted and sighed and rolled her eyes when my mum paid with cash and took 5 seconds to get hold of a 20p coin. She shoved the tray towards us and turned her back. I was so taken aback. I wanted to have this out with the server but my mum was distressed and didn’t want a scene. RSPB this is not okay. To treat an elderly lady in such a rude and abrupt manner is absolutely not okay. How very sad, disrespectful and unnecessary. I do not recommend this cafe at all.

What can I say...! We used to come here regularly as children, up to 10yr olds. There used to be bird watchers hides, but now I'm 50yrs old... there is nothing to see but tall grasses over 6ft. Even with binoculars you wouldn't be able to see anything as it's too over grown. No birdwatching hides either, unless they were hidden in the long grass/reeds.

Tudor House Museum in Weymouth is a well-preserved 17th-century building located on Trinity Street, which used to be part of the old harbor. The three-story house was built at the beginning of the 17th century and features traditional double gable architecture. Originally situated by the water's edge, it now stands as a museum furnished to resemble a 17th-century home.
Such an amazing historic building left in the area. Full of history and, it looks as if someone is still living inside it.

This is an excellent little provincial museum run by motivated and knowledgeable volunteers. Certainly worth a visit as it is a Tudor building of brick construction. I was reticent at visiting this place initially but that was completely unfounded. When most people only visit the beach in Weymouth and perhaps a few foody shops, Weymouth has an amazing history dating back to about the ad1300. Reputedly one of the ports that brought the black death to the UK. Which resulted in almost 50% of the whole of the UK population dying a miserable death. Weymouth is perhaps one of the few towns in the country where the wonderful council has decided to use one of the Tudor buildings dating back to about the 1600 as a public convenience! Well I suppose it does allow free admission to and time to contemplate! Finally below is a part of a picture of a map depicting the route from London to Weymouth in pictorial form.... Fascinating.

Alexandra Gardens is a small park area located on the seafront in Weymouth. It features classic arcade games, fairground rides for smaller kids, and plenty of traditional seaside entertainment. The gardens are situated near St Alban Street, a narrow road with interesting shops and food places. The area was once home to Weymouth Gardens Theatre which opened in 1924.
Amusement arcade, the best one in Weymouth for children, has games, kiosk selling hot food, freshly cooked sugared donuts and hot and cold drinks. Staff are nice. Seating area and with grassy area.

Best arcade in Weymouth. Next to beach ⛱️ it has fair ground, arcades, 2p slots, win tickets for prizes, claw machine. Alot of amusement machines. Easy use fair ground with tokens and cash machines. Kiosk to cash in your tickets. Toilets and food here to.
Hug D — Google review
A fantastic arcade and fairground! It’s the first one I’ve seen that uses a payment card system to store your credits and tickets, which makes everything so much easier than scrambling for pound coins. Just a note — the card only works in this arcade, as the others along the esplanade still use their own systems (tokens, cash, etc.). There are a good handful of rides for younger kids — my two girls went on everything at least a hundred times! Inside, the arcade is packed with the latest machines and games, so you’re guaranteed to find something you’ll get hooked on. The only downsides were that it’s a bit tricky to get around with a pushchair (understandable given how busy it is), and the ticket feeder machine wasn’t syncing properly with the arcade card system — the screen was blacked out for some reason.
Kristian J — Google review
Pretty good value for an arcade. The kids won enough tickets for a popcorn maker. The rides outside are looking quite tired.
Dan D — Google review
Disgusting attempt to keep young kids 2+ safe. The pirate ship has left my child completely traumatized after the ride and during the rides venture. After being strap in next to his younger cousin happily to next hearing distressing sound of crying a shocking discovery was made by his dad and other family members that his seat belt that should have been check over by staff and should have personally strapped the kids in from the staff came easily slipping out of place from what should have been across his body to it swiftly finding itself tight on and across his neck . If my partner wasn’t on the ship with them and my little boy hadn’t cried out for his dad from the discomfort, pain and suffering he was left feeling this could have been fatal. Choking hazards are no joke. I dread thinking what could have happened had my future sister in law and mother in law had not been there to witness it together with his dad and hadn’t they made the staff stop the ride when they did. They both made many attempts to warn the one staff who was in charge of the ride while they were fortunate to be standing outside of the ride. They found the staff who they were communicating to be lacking urgency and care to the severity to the situation. No remorse or apologetic action from staff after getting the kids out and when warned that they needed to safely stop the ship. They were rude and dismissive towards my family members and was reluctant to stop the ship. No child or parent/ family members should have to suffer from the negligence and ignorance of its staff and from the lack of health safety the people who are in charge of this ride that was carelessly put out on the pavement for the public to use for entertainment for the public’s kids to enjoy. I hold the people and it’s staff fully accountable for this disgusting act of public safety and kid friendly entertainment. I hope this complaint helps other parents prevent what they couldn’t for us… Safe and happy kids enjoying a long fun ride.

Attending the funfair was a delightful experience. It was great to see that the prices for the rides and attractions were quite reasonable, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy. A particularly positive aspect was the option to purchase single tokens. This flexibility allowed for trying out a variety of rides without committing to a larger, bundled purchase, which is convenient and budget-friendly. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable outing with fair pricing and convenient token options for small children.

Picnic tables were metal so will get hot in the sun. Directly opposite is St Albans street which is packed with independent shops. Definitely will be back for chips and curry sauce!

Nestled in the picturesque Weymouth Bay, Greenhill Beach offers a serene escape from the busier sandy stretches nearby. This charming pebble beach is favored by locals for its tranquility and stunning surroundings, including a lovely promenade that forms part of the South West Coast Path. While it may not be ideal for sunbathers seeking soft sand, it's an excellent launch point for stand-up paddleboarding enthusiasts who can enjoy gentle waves sheltered by Portland.

History Museums
Weymouth Museum, located in a Victorian Brewery off Hope Square, offers a captivating journey through the town's history with its unique exhibits and artworks. Run by volunteers, the museum specializes in local topography, trades and industry, maritime items, as well as postcards and photographs that are part of Weymouth's heritage. It provides an insightful perspective on the city's past.
Well worth a visit, such a shame not more money invested so much put in such a small area love it

Really small, but cute in it own way. It's worth popping in.

A taster of Weymouth Museum is now open in St Thomas street, while the original museum building is being refurbished. As this is only a sample of the full museum entry is free, although we left a donation. A great way to while away 20 minutes, finding out about Weymouth's history. Volunteers are friendly. Limited opening hours. Well worth a visit.

This used to be an amazing attraction taking you through the history of Weymouth guided if I remember correctly by a talking cat. Now it's a room with very little of interest in it a lot of what is there isn't even real always disappointing to look at a civil war weapon and see the words replica of weapons used. The displays do not really link together to do justice to the rich and interesting history of Weymouth. Weymouth is a lovely place with great friendly people (the people running the museum where very nice) and it is obvious the people who have set the museum are trying but come on Weymouth council put some funding their way and bring back a museum that does justice to the area.
Adrian C — Google review
3 star rating because it is a temporary museum whilst the other main new museum will be under construction or refurbished. Still located in the old brewery in the town square, has some interesting artifacts, local social history archaeology and fossils. At a nominal £2 admission for adults that's a good way of spending an hour or so. It is a shame that Weymouth Council have been so incompetent with this building otherwise it could have been a brilliant local asset. I understand this current exhibition is managed by volunteers. Hopefully once the new museum has its new premises it will be a brilliant local history venue about Weymouth and the surrounding areas. One amazing local history note is that apparently the Black death came to Britain via visitor to Weymouth harbour.... No need to worry that was in about the 14th century!

Nice place to visit, only problem is the very restricted opening hours. If you do get the chance well worth the effort and with the Tudor house just round the corner, nice way to spend a few hours.

RSPB Lodmoor is a well-preserved and tranquil haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering plenty of opportunities to get close to nature. The area provides various walking paths and abundant wildlife viewing, making it perfect for dog walkers, birdwatchers, and nature lovers. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and observe the diverse bird population. While parking may be a bit pricey, the site's natural beauty and abundance of activities make it well worth a visit.
Stunning RSPB reserve! A habitat to lots of birds species such as Marsh Harriers, song thrushes, red shanks and green shanks, geese, swans, egret, herons, and many other bird species too.

A huge area of wetlands and reedbeds this is a good place for da day out birdwatching. There were plenty of different birds on show but there are long walks around the area, so good shoes is advisable.

Great place to see wildlife, walk the dog, quiet, not too busy
Steve B — Google review
We had a few hours at this peaceful RSPB, we didn't see all of it unfortunately. The air was noisy with terns and gulls flying overhead. Swans, Egrets, Common Shelducks, Tufted ducks, were wading/swimming near the flats. We also heard lots of Warblers in the reed beds but no sight of them. If we're in the area again we'd love to go back. It was walking distance from the hotel. Free entry to reserve. Car park nearby, pay and display.
Polly W — Google review
A very nice little reserve. Easy street parking on the northern side. Northern area is mainly reeds, with the main action at the southern end with more open water and wading areas. July probably isn't the best time to visit, but we still managed to see a good variety including Great and Little Egret, Shelduck with young, Cormarant, Lapwing, Oyster Catcher, Black Tailed Godwit Very peaceful despite being so close to town.

We had a quick walk just before sunset, a fantastic place to visit and will be returning with more time, either before or after just have a gentle stroll into weymouth which ever way you can relax and enjoy the beauty of nature around you. In another month or so the blackberries will be in abundance so great to come and pick them with your children whilst enjoying the area around you. Well worth a visit.

A tranquil and peaceful place for a lovely walk. Very well preserved by the RSPB and thumbs up for the upkeep and haven it has become for wildlife. Lots of walks you can take and plenty to see. Only thing I would say is the carpark is a little pricey and does deter you from a longer stay, however there is not a lot the RSPB can do as it's council ran, so please don't let that put you off enjoying this wonderful place. For any dogwalker, nature lover, birdwatcher or walker its perfect though.

Castle Cove, also known as Sandsfoot Cove, is a secluded and quiet beach located near Wyke Regis in Weymouth. Situated within Portland Harbour and overlooking the ruins of Sandsfoot Castle and Gardens, this privately owned beach offers a serene atmosphere. Although it was temporarily closed to the public in 2013 due to erosion damage to the access steps, it remains a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
You have to time this beach right if you want to get onto it peak time! You will neither get parking if you need it or a space on this tiny beach - however if you are able to visit! Bring your canoe or dingy! This seems to be the launchpad for them all.

Secluded samdy little beach with no facilities but feel free to bring your own nest of tables. The ice cream boat drops in during the summer months. A very narrow path leads down to the beach from the main road which is not ideal for the less abled or those loaded up with water sports equipment. The beach isn't maintained so there is evidence of careless dog owners and some rubbish but not enough to ruin the day. That said, the water is relatively shallow and protected by the fact that its within the walls of Portland Harbour. No carpark means luck is required for limited on street parking.

Cineworld Weymouth is a modern multiplex cinema located in the heart of Weymouth's town center. With nine screens, it offers a wide selection of the latest international blockbusters in 2D and 3D formats, making it perfect for a family outing. The immersive 3D experience adds depth to the movies, creating an illusion that brings the action to life.
Looks clean, friendly staff. Very quiet at the time I went. I went to see Terrifier 3 and enjoyed the movie. Kinda dig the layout of the cinema, felt 70s retro vibe (in my opinion). Also, added a picture of Screen 6 room to Google photos.

Me, my friend and her brother went to go see the wild robot and i was a bit worried that it would look a bit run down but it's very nice inside the sound and video was great! We didn't get anything to eat we brought snacks prior to going in but the staff are friendly and we're patient with us since we were indecisive of where to sit but would definitely recommend!
Willow S — Google review
Good experience. Decent screen and sound. Seats comfy. Decent selection at the food/drink counter. Parking is free at the multi storey, if you get your chip validated. Needs a decent vacuum running around the place, but all in all good.

Easy to book. We booked on line and chose our seats. Refreshments available. Toilets available. Comfy seats with plenty of leg room. Audio was too loud for a small area for our liking though.
Lee C — Google review
First title visit and the staff was very polite and helpful the place was clean and tidy and the sound was great
Graham F — Google review
Rarely busy due to cinemas in Dorchester being cheaper (£2.50 at the Plaza versus £6 at Cineworld). Friendly and efficient staff, and the whole place is very clean and tidy. Screens are a mixed bag with one of them being large, the others not so large. Smaller screens have sloped rather than stadium seating so you're at risk of getting your view blocked if a tall person or someone with big hair sits in front. Legroom could be better in the stadium seated screens however the seats themselves are comfortable enough. Toilets are generally clean however avoid the ones right by the ticket check as these are tiny! Larger toilets available in the corridor closer to the screens. Snacks are typical multiplex prices (expensive!) however the coffee is reasonable value and tastes much better now that they have a new machine. The Baskin Robbins ice cream tends to be quite generously scooped. Free parking after 6pm in the adjacent multi storey car park if you get your ticket validated in the cinema, however before 6pm it's generally cheaper to park in a council-run car park. Also I once got stung for an hours parking because the time on their barrier/ticket system was 5 minutes slow and Britannia Parking refused to refund this.
Tom P — Google review
Pay £3.80 booking fee OR avoid that by turning up to the cinema for your tickets and pay £1 extra per person? No wonder no one goes to the cinema anymore 🤷🏼‍♀️. The three stars are for the staff at Weymouth Cineworld. They’re always friendly and it is always clean.

Awesome. Our kids loved it and want to go back! Mostly under cover so a good option if the weather is dodgy. Exhibits were spectacular and lots to do to keep kids entertained. Pricing was very reasonable. It is family run and the manager chatted with us about their business and took us behind the exhibits to show us how everything was put together. Really nice feel about the place. Five stars. Just realised that I popped this review in the wrong place! On the esplanade is an example sculpture. The main attraction is just down the road slightly and has many hundred of equally positive reviews!

Go karts are amazing!! My sister went on the hurricane it was really cool and great for younger kids, the Go karts were so cool you do have to be a certain height but there is of course the hurricane, the slide wasn't open when we were there, but everything was so cool definitely be going again. Edit: if you are planning on going they are not open until Easter but I will definitely be going again this year!

Good cheap parking, pretty wide spaces to help get the kids out of the car (rare in a Weymouth carpark) The go karts are great, we came back another day because they were fun. Not the most inspiring oval track, but bumpy so it's interesting. This kids loved the crests run mat slide. It's only a 4 bump model, but, it's really fast for its size. Hair blowing everywhere and air time off the last few bumps makes it exciting for them

Abbotsbury Swannery is a historic sanctuary for over 600 mute swans, situated on the grounds of an 11th-century monastery. The swannery, located near the charming village of Abbotsbury in Dorset, offers visitors the unique opportunity to wander among free-flying swans and witness them nesting in their natural habitat. The best time to visit is from May to June when cygnets are hatching, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
What a fantastic place to visit. Didn't expect to get so close to the swan's the numbers took my breath away. Even better they were nesting so we were able to see the newly hatched cygnets. This has got to be one of the best places I have visited in Dorset. I would highly recommend as top of the list for anyone visiting. Will definitely be visiting again on our next trip. The staff are incredible and take good care of these beautiful birds.
Marysiapol — Google review
Absolutely brilliant day out for all ages. The location is stunning, and on arrival you are greeted by a cafe and play park with a small river running by. There are multiple picnic opportunities around the site if you prefer to bring a picnic. A scenic wander beyond the gift shop brings you alongside the go cart race track (no charge, first come first served) and a willow maze. Amble on further to a large picnic area and wild flower meadow. You'll need to refuel as there is so much more to see yet. Some lovely displays, including a human sized nest, a medicinal herb garden and some artefacts to view. Keep walking and you will discover nesting swans barely an arms length from the path and even more stunning walks. I ran out of time at this point so I will be back. We had a very happy day at the Swannery and came home refreshed and relaxed. A slice of paradise set just outside the idyllic village of Abbotsbury. 🥰

What a fantastic place! The Swannery is located a few minutes walk from the car park but once you’re here it’s a lovely piece of nature. There’s a trail you can follow to see all the places where the swans are and also other birds like ducks. It’s a nice walk and also an interesting one watching the birds and learning more about them. We only stayed for around an hour because I wanted to use the bathrooms and there’s only one at the car park unfortunately. Or else I would have loved to stay a bit longer. If you love animals and specifically birds, you’ll love this place.

You likely will never see so many swans in one place in all your life away from here. We would definitely recommend coming for 12pm or 4pm before the mass feeding. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and we only got hissed at once (but a swan, not the staff!) You can also get value for money with a ‘passport’ ticket for both the Abbotsbury swannery and the Abbotsbury subtropical gardens.

A beautiful autumn day , a real place to relax watching nature at its best. The swans were so relaxed, not at all bothered as you walked past them. A real joy. ( if you want to loose yourself , try the swan maze )

After years spent living in Dorset and never getting to Abbotsbury, we finally got there, and it did not disappoint. Seeing so many swans and recently hatched cygnets was lovely. Very much recommend going to one of the daily feeding times, very informative and nice to give a hand feeding the birds. All in all lovely day out!
Luke E — Google review
Absolutely outstanding. This is a must‑visit for anyone who loves swans. Abbotsbury Swannery is the world’s only managed nesting colony of mute swans, with about 600 (!) birds drawn to the ideal conditions of „The Fleet“ lagoon beside Chesil Beach. The team are welcoming, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to the swans’ welfare and habitat. I had the chance to work alongside them for 2 days — feeding the swans, assisting during ringing, and helping with routine chores (such as hand‑gathering washed‑up eelgrass for the cygnets’ feed) — and their professionalism and care were evident throughout. Having come all the way from Germany, the journey was completely worth it, and this unique place is easy to recommend to anyone visiting the area. A memorable, peaceful experience in a beautiful, historic setting. Tip: aim for the daily feeding sessions at 12:00 or 16:00 — you can help feed the swans, which is a special highlight.

I've been coming here all my life, it's still one of the most beautiful places in the UK. The beach itself is beautiful, vast and naturally interesting, the views are stunning and at night time you can see millions of stars here. If you're going to the Abbotsbury part of the beach, good parking (paid parking) with toilet facilities and a little cafe. Feels very safe here both day and night.

Beautiful unique beach if you are prepared to walk on the millions of pebbles 😃 You need strong legs to get near the water from Abbotsbury car park, not ideal for trolleys. Once you are by the water the sensation is indescribable 🤩🤩🤩 If you enjoy fishing 🎣 you will have plenty of competitors 😃 There is a carpark that you can pay on the machine by the the bar or by phone

Want a challenge? Walk this entire Chesil Beach from Fortuneswell (Quibbles cafe)to West Bay (The George Hotel). I did it 6 years ago but soon realized that I hadn't taken in just how tiring the pebbles can be for walking on. I ended that walk at Abbotsbury due to not having enough time. So I have done it again for its entire length this time. Forget running. Walking is more efficient. I believe that you can walk this beach all year, even during the bird season, 01/05 to 31/08 as long as you keep to the side of the sea. A lone walker may still be ok to walk as long as they do not disturb nature. But ask at the Chesil Beach visitor centre first. They will also inform you of any recent events, like landslides or rockfalls that may hamper your progress. I made a mistake of asking tourists who misguided me. Not to worry, it didn't put me off. I just got on with it and was soon back on track. Update: Did it for the last time today, Wednesday 24 September, entirely by beach, using tidal times for optimum beach width. No diversions. See proof of route photo. Some tips for those who fancy this walk. Check tide times. Check seasonal restrictions. Check firing range..MOD. Take a fully charged mobile phone. Take snacks and drinks. Don't rush it. Enjoy it. It's a mammoth task for most. Regular breaks. Start early, around 07:00 but before 09:00. Duration depending on the individual is anywhere between 6 hour 40 mins to 13 hours. But most likely, just 9 hours. There is the option to leave the route at the 10 miles ? Point, Abbotsbury car park. No shame if you do. That's the hardest bit to do for anyone. Start from Fortuneswell end of the beach. Begin there at high tide. By the time you get in range of West Bay the tide will be lower. Lower tide means wider beach. Wider beach means safe distance from cliff collapse. Wider beach near Bridport area means no detour to avoid river run off across the beach by Freshwater caravan site. Further on, still keep a safe distance from the cliffs. Due to low tide, some sections of the beach have exposed , hard sand that can be taken advantage of due to low the tide exposing it. See video of smooth, flat gritty sand.

Have a great time fishing for the first time in Chisel beach, we were lucky to catch some mackerels. Shore is mostly pebbles so make sure to have the right footwear. Nice view of the hill and Isle of Portland from this area as well. Camping is not allowed in this beach. Will surely comeback for more fishes.

Beautiful beach, has a swimming area to both sides, one under the cliffs and the other to the west, we were told to stay clear of cliffs as they fall. Bring rubber shoes as it's rocky and watch out for kids and adults throwing rocks to see if they have fossils on th. Of fossil hunting, bring a hammer. Has a nice little shop that sells fossils and mementos as well as a visitor center, which is free. Slippery rocks during low tide and a lot of small pools for little ones to explore.

Lovely place to go for a stroll along the coastline, especially on a sunny day... we'll worth a stop at the cafe for a bap and a sausage roll to replenish. Lots of folk fishing along the shore and big waves to test your running legs against. Well worth the trip to see Chesil beach!

Tout Quarry Sculpture Park & Nature Reserve is a captivating site located in Portland, Dorset. This former quarry has been transformed into an enchanting sculpture park featuring over 50 sculptures carved into the rock, including notable pieces like the 'falling man' by Antony Gormley. The park offers a unique blend of art, history, and natural beauty with stunning views of Chesil Beach and Lyme Bay.
Great spot for outing with family, everyone enjoys climbing rocks and finding hidden stone statues. Endless fun. When you reach cliff side it's a beautiful view on sunny day, miles and miles of views. Highly recommend. There's no toilets, but nearby cafe has those. There's no entry fee and there is car park. Absolute gem if you find it.

A great place for exploring, lots of lovely winding paths and beautiful view points. Free parking, about 10 spaces or so, wasn't busy when we visited on a Saturday morning. No facilities. We completed a perfect little 30 min walk down to Chiswell beach where there is a cafe and toilets. A steep/stony walk including steps. a stop of at the cafe for refreshments, paddle in the sea which was so clear and still, relax on the pebbles was just lovely before heading back up the path.

Found this place be accident...was looking for a view point to see Chesil beach and ended up walking through here. Glad we did as it was great! Some good sculptures and also lovely views up here!
K R — Google review
This is a hidden gem. Weird and fascinating, these sculptures are a definite find; from the coquettish torso, to the dog with the eyes of it's victims in its coat, the sea creatures, the stone ring.......all very thought provoking. The location of this quarry leads to some beautiful clifftop views and as you explore you may see ospreys and gulls circling overhead. The most incredible thing to me was that this stone world is all free! Absolutely worth a visit.
Linda W — Google review
The car park is hidden at the end of a small industrial estate. When you first enter the park it seems like a bit of a disappointment. It is massively over grown and the first sculptures are a bit boring. But then it opens up and there is so much to explore. We spent over an hour walking round. Car park is free and there isn’t an expensive cafe or gift shop. A true free attraction.
Richard M — Google review
I was a little disappointed. There are loads of sculptures. However, the whole site feels neglected. Lots of sculptures hidden in the undergrowth. There is a map in the entrance by the carpark. Once past this, there are a few random arrows on posts, but nothing to give you a real idea of where to go or to guide you. The views, however, are stunning down to the Chesil, and the drops are sheer and long. The main path is clear but not flat. Once off this it can be quite a challenge. Certainly not for the faint-hearted or anyone not sure footed. I feel we missed areas, and maybe it is set up to be a rugged adventure rather than an easy stroll.

It’s an interesting visit if you don’t mind climbing about there are some lovely sculptures and art works and the views are breathtaking

The Isle of Portland offers a unique experience, with its rugged landscape and stunning views of the Channel. The island's Jurassic limestone has been used to build iconic landmarks around the world. Visitors can explore scenic walking paths like the Portland Plateau Walk, which showcases terraced landscapes shaped by quarrying. Church Ope Cove provides a secluded beach for swimming and snorkeling, but caution is advised due to strong currents.
Portland Dorset is an amazing island full of so much history, from the jurassic Coast line, 1st and 2nd world wars. Prisons on the island, sculpture parks, Portland Bill, lighthouse, walks, climbing, food places, castles , coves , rich history in Quarries of Portland Stone. Amazing views ,sunsets by the heights hotel, and sunrises that blow your mind. Long history of fishing, having an Olympics here, and now having Sailing Academy. There is so much beautiful community spirit on the island , and when I have friends here, they can't believe how many say hello or morning 😀

The most lovable and weird place on the south coast of England. Amazing views, wonderful waves crashing on rocks, stunning cliffs, numerous and gorgeous pathways, almost no Instagrammers, friendly horses, seagulls and cats.
Charlie B — Google review
Lovely Island. We had amazing weather so it made it extra special to go to. If you want to eat in the cafe at lighthouse then book, but it is expensive overall so I advise take a picnic. If you plan to walk around then wear good trainers or other sold footwear. We had a drive around afterwards.
Tara C — Google review
It was a fantastic day out and a beautiful part of Waymouth. A brilliant costal trail rocky in places with some climbing experience needed. Walking boots is a must with some awkward climbs. It is a fantastic trail with lots of amazing rock sculptures and unbelievable views of the cliffs and the coast line. Definitely some memories to be made and some sights to see. In the summer, this looks like something magical from lord of the rings.

Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens is a stunning 18th-century garden spread across 20 acres in a sheltered valley leading to Chesil Beach. The unique microclimate allows delicate plants to thrive, including rare camellias, magnolias, and an impressive collection of rhododendrons and hydrangeas. Originally a kitchen garden for Abbotsbury Castle, the gardens have evolved over the years and now feature a mix of formal and informal flowers.
Possibly the best gardens that we have visited. Beautifully laid out and totally amazing with so many plants and trees from around the world - most clearly labelled and in super condition. Special mention to highlight gardener Hannah who was happy to stop and chat to us with advice and tips. There's so much to see with lots of different areas and a myriad of paths. There was a different vista around every corner. We spent the afternoon here and already planning to return. Parking and toilets were excellent - cafe not visited but looked very busy.
Adrian T — Google review
Three of us and two dogs spent a wonderful couple of hours in the gardens. It was a beautiful day, sun was shining and the gardens were magnificent. The range of planting was lovely and the hydrangea's were in full glorious bloom, with so many shades of white, pink and blue. We made our way up to the viewing platform and enjoyed half an hour just sitting and taking in the views. I would definitely go again, I could have happily spent another couple of hours, it was so tranquil. My only regret is that we should’ve taken a picnic and enjoy the calm atmosphere for a while longer. Enjoyed an obligatory cake and coffee at the end of the session at the cafe.
Helen J — Google review
We did not know what to expect, but these gardens are amazing. Beautiful planting, impressive and enormous mature trees all set to the backdrop of the waves hitting Chesil Beach. This was so relaxing and the autumn colours glorious. The Dorset Apple Cake with Cornish cream a perfect ending.
John A — Google review
Nice place. Lots of mature tropical plants and unusual trees to surround yourself and get lost in or follow the guided pathway and soak up the serenity! Make sure you take the short steep climb up to the viewpoint over Chesil beach and see the coast - it's quite unique! Cafe is good with friendly staff and outdoor/indoor seating but outdoors you are enveloped in the lush greenery!
Delbotty — Google review
I had a lovely relaxing time in the garden and walked up to the viewpoint where there were brilliant views. It's steep but worth it. There was a lot to see even in mid September and if it had been drier I would have sat longer to enjoy it all.
Ruth K — Google review
We enjoyed are visit, the plants, trees and ferns are beautiful, the views stunning, some of the garden was roped off for a wedding, so didn’t see the rope bridge! We couldn’t enjoy are coffee in the sun, because of the wasps! However It’s worth a visit if you are in the area.
L L — Google review
Really great place to visit, the gardens are beautiful and well laid out. There are plenty of other routes you can take to explore a bit more. Maps are well placed throughout and lots of benches to sit and rest. The cafe was well priced and the coffee was amazing! The staff were friendly and the place was clean. Ended up buying some plants on the way out and they were cheap and there were loads to choose from.
Jim P — Google review
This has been a family favourite for many years. There are so many paths and plants to explore it's easy to get lost in time and wonder whatever the season. We arrived at lunchtime and ate sandwiches and cake in the cafe before exploring the gardens. The cafe was busy and well organised but seating was in limited supply and we had to be quick to grab a table as soon as someone left. The presence of a pheasant sandwich was a surprise so I had to try it and it was nicer than a BLT I usually have. Exploring the meandering paths is so peaceful and you never know what you'll find around the next corner, whether it's bright flowers, ornamental trees, bridges or statues. The walk up to the viewpoint on the cliff top is steep, but the views across chesil beach and the surrounding area are amazing and well worth the effort.

Abbotsbury Playground is a delightful gem nestled in a scenic location, perfect for families seeking outdoor fun. Established in 2006 through the generous contributions of the community and various grants, this playground has been lovingly maintained by dedicated volunteers who ensure it remains clean and safe for children. With an array of play equipment suitable for kids aged 3-6, it's an inviting space where little ones can explore and enjoy themselves.
This playground is awesome, I've never seen such attention to detail in the wood carvings, the tractor is an all time favourite of my son. To be in the shade of the abbey as well makes quite a special place

Lovely playground there were lots of different things for the kids to play on (we did also have a go on the swings as it wasn't busy). All with lovely views. Would definitely recommend if you have kids and are in the area
Gavin F — Google review
Not toddler friendly minus the two swings , bridge badly built with gaps even a grown human could fall though, unlevel ground with mole hills and rabbit holes , no soft grounding even near the climbing frames , no monkey bars , no water /splash areas . Football pitch not well maintained a little out the way Nice when you want peace but alot of improvements could be made

Lovely little adventure play ground. Well maintained and worth the drive from Weymouth. Very scenic and peaceful location. Well enjoyed by children aged between 3-6

Lovely park but a little tired looking now and it's a little walk away from the nearest place to park your car. Some of the equipment needs updating as doesn't really work anymore.
