The Columbia River Maritime Museum, located in Astoria's picturesque downtown, is a harborfront building housing a 30,000-object collection that covers fishing, shipping, and military history. The museum received a facelift in 2002 to expand its square footage and provide visitors with views of the river through glass and iron structures. It offers hands-on exhibits on topics such as navigating perilous weather conditions at sea and historic artifacts related to military history.
In June 2025, we crossed the extensive Lewis & Clark Bridge across the Columbia River and arrived in Astoria, Oregon. The Columbia River is beautiful and many miles wide at this point. We continued to drive on the Astoria Main Street, and we stopped to look at the Columbia River Maritime Museum. It was about 8 PM or so, and the Maritime Museum was closed. However, the Maritime Museum outdoor scenery and decorations were amazing and captured our attention. I would love to patronize this Maritime Museum someday in the future, and return to Astoria, Oregon to see more of the scenery and the mighty Columbia River. This Maritime Museum had great outdoor decorations and an amazing view of the Lewis & Clark Bridge.

Nice! Exhibits are spaced nicely with a good focus on Astoria. Although I look forward to the expansion, I was very disappointed in the payment system. The ancient slide wouldn't work for my card. A tap to pay system needs to be installed. The box office personnel were very friendly and helpful! Very much appreciated the welcoming attitude. Lovely variety in the gift shop. I learned a lot about the maritime history of this part of the coast!
Linda ( — Google review
September 2025 - Visited the museum and found it mostly interesting, but it seemed to be more of a 'dead ship' museum than a Maritime Museum, we liked the Garibaldi Maritime Museum as it gave more info and had better maritime displays. This museum seemed to be built around the various shipwrecks of the past decades and how each occured. It was somewhat heavy in Coast Guard operations as well.
Bill M — Google review
Excellent Exhibits! The Lightship was cool to walk through. Ticket is included in admission or $5 on own. The movies are timed, select times at admission for ticket(s). The two 3D movies, additionsl $5, each. Poor 3D, but good films on arctic and aircraft carriers. You can reenter museum and take as long as you want. Plenty for kids to interact in pilot house exhibits and activity room. Give time to go through, watch movied, tour ship and experience exhibits. I was there 3-4 hours and did it all.
Rochelle D — Google review
This place was amazing! There was so much to see and learn about. Give yourself a couple hours to be able to see it all. We also walked through the Lightship Columbia and toured the engine room. Such a great experience that even the kids loved.
Amber S — Google review
Well presented history of the Coast Guard and Fishermen experience where the Colum loved thebia meets the Pacific. Loved the life sized exhibits and the detailed exhibit notes and commentary.
Rich C — Google review
This museum is definitely worth a visit. Very well laid out, with a multitude of displays on the history of the local fishing industry, shipbuilding in Oregon, and Naval maritime history. Leave yourself at least an hour and a half to do it justice. Amazing new expansion opening in the fall of 2026.
John D — Google review
Spent 4 hours walking around and reading all their displays. Great mix of information and large scale displays. And our tickets got us access to the Lights hip. Take the engine room tour, worth the extra time

The Astoria Column, constructed in 1926, stands at 126 feet tall and showcases murals depicting Oregon's history. Visitors can climb the 164 spiral steps to reach the observation deck, which offers a stunning 360-degree view of Astoria, the Pacific Ocean, the Columbia River mouth, Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier, and the lush forests of Oregon and Washington.
Very nice! I went about a month ago and the views were very nice. The stairs really freaked me out, they seemed a bit rickety, but the view at the top was worth it. You can see the whole city ! The column was very pretty in itself, wonderful graphics on the exterior that reminded me a bit of the Coit Tower in San Francisco.
James C — Google review
Beautiful 360 degree view of the area and Port Townsend from this vantage point. You can climb the "Column" for even a more unobstructed view, its 164 steps to the top, fairly narrow, but rest landings every 32 steps up the column. Nice diversion from downtown. There's a $5 admission charge, but I think its well worth it. There's a gift shop for souvenirs and refreshments. Go and enjoy.
Laine A — Google review
I had a fantastic time visiting the Astoria Column! For just five bucks, you get plenty of parking and a chance to climb the 164 steps to the top. The view up there is absolutely stunning—you get this amazing panorama of lush green forests, the water, and the charming little town of Astoria below. The weather was perfect when I went, which made it even better. There’s also a cute little souvenir shop nearby where I picked up a hat as keepsakes. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I’d definitely recommend it!”
Lior M — Google review
Like many I find Astoria to be a magical place. Home of the Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, and many other classics from the 80-90s. This city is also where the Colombia River meets the Pacific Ocean. The Astoria Column is yet but another Gem in the treasure of experiences to be discovered in this once pirate hub. In a nutshell, for a small fee ($5 I think) you can park at the column, enjoy a beautiful view, walk up the column and witness an even more breathtaking view. And. Yes. Be. Prepared. And. Bring. A. Toy. Paratrooper. Or. Airplane. In fact bring 2. Once at the top of the column you can launch them in to the air, watch, and be transformed back into a child, and bubble with delight. If you have the capacity (and you will as you are now a child once again), run back down to retrieve your flying toy (or find a new one on the ground), run back up, and launch it off the column again! This is a simple and magical experience for all ages. Consider having a picnic there as well. Enjoy! Hot Tips! *Yes there are bathrooms and clean ones at that. *There is a gift shop to buy airplanes. Paratroopers must be bought elsewhere though. (Gift shops in Seaside sell them). *Another must visit is the Wreck of the Peter Iredale. *Another must visit is the museum/Fratelli’s jail. Film your own movie clips and get behind the scenes of Goonies. *Another must visit is the Astoria bowling alley and another key Goonies location. *Yet another must visit is Fort George Brewing. They have at least 2 different kitchens. The top restaurant makes fantastic pizza (open different hours), family friendly, and spacious.

Great views from the parking lot and from the top of the column. Oh my gosh. Also has the Cathedral Tree trail which is nice and severely covered by the trees. Several different trails. Nice walk to stretch your legs. Dogs on leash. Dogs not allowed in column. $5 to park, pass good for the calendar year, I believe it says. Column did lock automatically at a certain time so beware.
Jeri Y — Google review
I found out about this while planning a trip to the area and it sounded like it might be somewhat like a lighthouse so I added it to our itinerary. We visited on a Monday late afternoon in August. There is a $5 parking fee but no cost to climb the stairs up to the top. The parking attendant was cheerful and friendly and there was plenty of parking. It’s 164 steps up to the circular stair case to the top and it really is like a lighthouse just minus the light. There was no attendant here to monitor how many are going in and coming out so just just go at your own discretion. There are a couple landings on the way to make space for traffic in both directions but I will say not everyone does that so you could be passing someone coming down as you are going up and there is no inside railing just trust in your own balance to go up the inside of the staircase while yielding to people coming down with the railing on their outside. I wish I had a picture to show this but I wasn’t even thinking of that. Once up to the top, the view is beautiful and you are fenced in. There is a gift shop in the parking lot area that sells little model airplanes that you can launch from the top. That’s a cool idea but we don’t know it until we saw someone do it from the top because we didn’t go in the gift shop until we came back down. The walk up and down is not strenuous in my opinion but if you’re not used to walking that many stairs or if you’re afraid of heights just give yourself some time. People likely will be kind enough to be patient if they are behind you. There is a walking trail on the ground level but we didn’t do that so I don’t know how long it is. We enjoyed this.
Miss V — Google review
The Astoria Column is a pretty remarkable spot! Perched high above Astoria, Oregon, it gives sweeping views of the Columbia River, Youngs Bay, the Coast Range, and even out to the Pacific on clear days. The location is famously windy (many visitors bring or buy the small wooden gliders sold on site just to launch them from the top), which adds to the fun. The 125-foot column itself is decorated with a spiral mural illustrating major events in Pacific Northwest history, from Native cultures to the arrival of explorers and settlers. Climbing the spiral staircase to the top is a bit of a workout, but the payoff is the 360° panoramic vista—definitely one of the best in Oregon. It’s a spot that blends history, art, and natural beauty. Perfect for photos, picnics, or just watching the clouds roll across the river.
Sid — Google review
If you're in the Astoria area, be sure to check out this Historical Landmark. Driving in, there is a $5 Annual parking pass that you can purchase when entering. Proceeds go to the upkeep of the park. For those who want to tackle the 164 steps to the top of the Column, be sure to stop in the Gift Shop first and pick up a glider for when you reach the top. Awesome views of the Columbia River Inlet as well as the Astoria-Megler Bridge.

The Flavel House Museum is a stunning Queen Anne-style Victorian mansion built in 1885 for Captain George Flavel and his family. The museum showcases period furniture and features a formal garden, offering visitors a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the era. The house is an architectural masterpiece, reflecting the grandeur of turn-of-the-20th-century Astoria. It stands as a testament to the city's history, which includes being home to the first American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains.
I’ve visited a lot of historic house museums over the years but the Flavel House takes the cake for the size of the rooms relative to the era it represents. At over 11,000 square feet, the house commands the full city block on which it’s set. The rooms are very well decorated to represent the period. Some of the furnishings are Flavel family pieces. Excellently curated with abundant labels, there’s a lot to learn here, particularly if you’ve never visited a Victorian era home before. Given the Flavel’s particular prominence in history of Astoria and the Pacific Northwest in general, this is a must see for any history buff.
Andrew H — Google review
An absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The self-guided tour was engaging and easy to follow, and the staff and volunteers were genuinely kind and welcoming. The Flavel House is beautifully preserved, with each room carefully arranged to reflect life in the late 1800s. The accompanying photos showing the original uses of each space make the history come alive in such a unique way. A must-visit for history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, or anyone who appreciates Victorian-era charm.
Jeff C — Google review
The self guided tour at the Flavel House in Astoria, Oregon, was like walking through a time warp that allows the visitor to not only see all of the beautiful masterpieces throughout but also submerge all of your other senses into the past. We were allowed to check out everything from the grounds to the bathrooms on our own, and I think that was the most special part of the tour.
Emily H — Google review
Absolutely mind boggling to think nobody wanted this place in the 1940's and the Flavel family had trouble giving it away. The city almost tore it down to put in a parking lot! Thankfully the Clatsop County Historical Society stepped up, and has done a magnificent job of restoring this house to original condition. If you're traveling to Astoria it's well worth the visit.
John D — Google review
A must see whenever in Astoria. Beautiful classic architecture steeped in history.
Richard M — Google review
Visited on an Oregon trip a month ago, one of the best Victorian house museums that I have ever been to!!
James C — Google review
September 2025 - Visited the house and saw how the 'royalty' once lived in Astoria (No not a king, but a wealthy person). Been to palaces in Spain, Italy, Turkiye, and Portugal and this was somewhat of a letdown in comparison to each. The entry is on the street in a smaller building, and the parking is nearly non-existent. Entry fee is affordable to most. There is a path from the small building to the 'mansion' and the entry is on the far street side. Not easily accessed by the physically challenged. Plan on about 30 minutes, and climbing stairs at the entry and inside to get to the second floor.
Bill M — Google review
Very unique and beautiful piece of history being preserved for everyone to admire and enjoy. The whole experience was delightful, from the entrance at the carriage house and educational pre-entry video, to the walk through, and talk with the curator. I loved every minute of it. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We got some delightful insite on the habits of the family who lived there and the spaces not accessible to the public (mainly the attic and basement). I definitely recommend a walk through, the architecture, ornate decor, and phenomenal craftsmanship, were really a treat to see.

Located in a former jail, the Oregon Film Museum showcases exhibits dedicated to 'The Goonies' and other movies filmed in Oregon. Visitors can immerse themselves in the cinematic history of Astoria, learning about the various films that have featured this picturesque city. The museum offers an entertaining experience with insights into iconic movies such as Kindergarten Cop, Free Willy, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.
Short and sweet. Wish it had a better presentation to it... the make your of scene thing is over played there. The place has potential. I really liked seeing all movie posters from the films from the area. Best of all they were all my favorite films growing up. The Goonies house not far away was why I was there. It was like a dream come true visiting this town.
Mr. S — Google review
Great piece of film history. Easily located in Astoria. Good parking. Many of things to do within walking distance. The Flavel house is across the street to explore as well as many museums and other sites to see.
Jessica M — Google review
This place is for lovers of the movie Goonies. Small, but we found it pretty cool to see. Our only issue was the gift shop didnt have a lot of large size shirts.
Tom J — Google review
I expected more it looked so big and then there was hardly anything to see. It was hard to move around inside because the spaces are all tiny. They did have some cool Goonies memorabilia and this is where they filmed the jail scenes. They did have a few other movies highlighted but not enough to call it the Oregon Film Museum.
Chanda M — Google review
Pretty cool for Goonie fans. Go see the house then come here. It's small but a lot inside. Can tape your own scenes like you were in the movie then save them.
Jeri Y — Google review
Worth a quick little trip, for some behind the scenes info on The Goonies and other movies filmed in and around the area. I would pay the entrance fee just to get my picture in the jail cell! Some interactive filming exhibits, photo ops inside and out and a nice selection at the gift shop make this worthwhile, but again for a quick visit! It's a small building and if there's a crowd, you feel it! Hey there early and make this a stop if you're a Goonie
JAMES L — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the OFM during our vacation in Astoria, Oregon. The museum features memorable items and scenes from iconic films such as The Goonies, which was a highlight of the experience. Our children especially loved recreating moments from The Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, and The Shining. A unique and entertaining stop that we would highly recommend to anyone exploring Astoria.
Ujiro O — Google review
Great little museum! Have the option of buying admission to just this one or three spots around thown, the Flavel House (right across the street) and the Heritage Museum (a few blocks up). There is a restroom you can use, located up a block in the Carriage house on the Flavel property. Lots of cool stuff to do and look at in this little place. Can film "cameos" with scripts and share them, thought that was pretty cool! Nice selection in the gift shop too. As you get close, find a spot on the street, we had to circle a few times, the Oregon Film Museum doesnt have a dedicated parking lot (that we saw) and shares with the Court House.

The Astoria Riverfront Trolley, a historic 1913 trolley, offers hour-long rides along the waterfront with charismatic conductors and docents sharing interesting tidbits and historical facts. The ride provides views of the town's repurposed canneries, wooden walkways, tree-root stairs of the Cathedral Tree Trail, and the hilltop Astoria Column. It also makes multiple stops allowing passengers to step off if they wish.
2 big steps to get on, but such a lovely little tour. Very knowledgeable volunteer staff. Sites of interest were pointed out in a fun & informative way the whole trip. Charming trolly car. Can't beat the price. Glad we took advantage of this. It also pointed out good restaurants to go to.

This is the worst service and attraction. It happend to us twice already we got here early.waited in the car 40min to wait for the next route it came witha. Full train people didn't get off we waited for 2nd route again same thing happend we said how come you're not letting people off? This is ridiculous the man said u can pay $1 and ride all day this is so ridiculous omg we got very upset because we waited all day! To come here and this is the service we get?
Krutayakievlyanka M — Google review
If you're in Astoria and have an hour to kill the Riverfront Trolley might be the best deal in town. The volunteers running the trolley are fantastic, and give and amazing narration as you're cruising along slowly; 10 mph max. Takes about an hour to make the round trip, and well worth it.
John D — Google review
The guy that does the talking is great! He does a little history tour for of the area. It's a slow moving trolley and the kids are 10 and 12 but they still enjoyed it and the operator made them laugh. The little gift shop in front is cute with gifts and post cards, and purchases support the trolley. The seats reverse for the ride back and for $1 (as of writing this) for staying on whole trip or $2 to get off and on all day, it's a good little low key adventure. Beautifully restored!
Rae M — Google review
Enjoyable journey back in time and the Price is Right. Only $1 round trip.
Glen M — Google review
What a freaking GEM! Please support the volunteers who run this historic trolley; they tell great stories and give you tidbits to pay attention to as you go by without being boring or repetitive. Such a great way to see Astoria - we would have missed so much had we not hopped on on a whim! Bring cash to board and also they have merch for sale that’s cash only (we got a Christmas ornament we’ll cherish for years to come).
Kelsey F — Google review
This trolley, built in 1913 or so, runs along the riverfront in Astoria, OR. For $1 you get to see all the fun spots and historical features of downtown Astoria. The volunteers who run the trolley are eager to explain what you're seeing and to give some local flavor. A round-trip lays about an hour.
Walter B — Google review
Awesome and informative ride even if it is shorter than normal due to the Buoy Beer roof collapse. It currently stops at Stop #6 but that may change. The two gentlemen running the trolley were knowledgeable and friendly, with lots of great information along the way. The trolley is gorgeous and the way the seats switch sides for the return trip is so cool!! Definitely worth a buck, and if you can give them some extra or buy some merchandise, that helps them fund the trolley for future enjoyment.

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
The Astoria-Megler Bridge, the longest continuous truss bridge in North America, is a stunning landmark that offers breathtaking views of the Columbia River and connects Oregon and Washington. The bridge provides access to an array of destinations and activities, including Cape Disappointment Lighthouse, North Head Lighthouse, and Fort Stevens State Park. Visitors can enjoy scenic hiking/biking trails, historic ship wreckage, and sandy beaches in the area.
Driving across the bridge is quite an experience, but be ready for some serious traffic! Also, you'll probably notice an unusual number of dead birds scattered along the road on the bridge. Just something to keep in mind! Nevertheless it offers great views.
Justin B — Google review
The Astoria–Megler Bridge is a stunning landmark and a must-see when visiting the Oregon Coast. Stretching over four miles across the Columbia River, it’s the longest continuous truss bridge in North America and an impressive sight in itself. The green steel structure contrasts beautifully with the blue waters below, making it a fantastic spot for photos. From the Astoria waterfront, you can watch massive cargo ships and fishing vessels navigate the river, with the bridge creating a dramatic backdrop. The nearby Columbia River Maritime Museum adds to the experience, giving context to the river’s rich history. Whether you’re driving across, photographing it from the shore, or exploring the riverfront, the bridge offers iconic views and a real sense of scale.
Sid — Google review
Stretching an impressive 4.1 miles across the mouth of the Columbia River, the Astoria–Megler Bridge is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America. It connects the charming town of Astoria, Oregon, to the rugged shoreline of Megler, Washington, completing a vital link in U.S. Route 101. But this isn’t just a bridge, it’s a bold architectural statement standing guard over one of the most unpredictable waterways in the Pacific Northwest. Each fall, the waters beneath the bridge come alive with one of nature’s great spectacles: the salmon runs. Hundreds of thousands of Chinook (King Salmon) and Coho surge upstream, navigating the powerful currents to reach their spawning grounds. Anglers line the banks and boats dot the channel, all hoping to intercept these muscular fish as they pass beneath the steel latticework above. The Columbia River beneath the bridge is no gentle stream. It’s a deep, fast-moving artery that has claimed countless vessels over the centuries. The river’s mouth, just 14 miles downstream, is infamous for its shifting sandbars, powerful tides, and sudden squalls. Mariners call it the “Graveyard of the Pacific,” a name earned by the hundreds of sunken ships that litter its floor. Navigating this stretch requires precision, experience, and respect for the river’s many moods. Among the modern giants that brave this treacherous passage is the Plumeria Leader, a Japanese-flagged cargo ship built in 2022 and operated by NYK Line. This roll-on/roll-off vehicle carrier spans over 200 meters and ferries thousands of cars and heavy machinery between North America and Japan. Watching it glide beneath the bridge’s steel canopy is like witnessing a ballet of brute force and finesse—its towering hull nearly brushing the trusses above, a visual reminder of the delicate choreography required to move global trade through this wild corridor. Adding a touch of wild charm, thousands of double-crested cormorants have made the bridge their seasonal home, nesting in its steel beams and complicating inspections with guano and obscured lights. Once a year, the bridge opens to foot traffic for the Great Columbia Crossing, a six-mile run or walk that lets participants experience the thrill of crossing this engineering marvel on foot. If you ever find yourself in Astoria, take a moment to gaze at its steel trusses and imagine the stories flowing beneath, from salmon and ships to storms and seabirds. The bridge doesn’t just span a river; it spans centuries of drama, resilience, and awe. It’s not just a crossing, it’s a living chapter in the Pacific Northwest’s epic tale.
Kevin — Google review
An impressive drive with scenic views! Crossing the Astoria-Megler Bridge was a highlight of the trip. The bridge stretches over 6 km (4 miles) and offers stunning views of the Columbia River and surrounding coastline. The structure itself is a unique mix of engineering and beauty, especially on a moody, overcast day like when we visited. It's a smooth, easy drive, and a great way to enter or leave Astoria. Definitely worth experiencing if you're road-tripping along the Pacific Northwest.
Gabriel D — Google review
What a beautiful and amazing drive over the Columbia river! It’s not as scary as Mackinac but we didn’t think it was for the faint hearted either. Luckily, one of us isn’t faint hearted. The history of this bridge is of course fascinating. If you’re in this area you can’t not drive over it
David S — Google review
The Astoria–Megler Bridge is absolutely breathtaking. Stretching over four miles across the Columbia River, it’s both an engineering marvel and a scenic experience. Driving across gives you sweeping views of the river, the town of Astoria, and the Washington shoreline. The steep climb on the Oregon side makes the drive exciting, and the descent feels like you’re gliding over the water.
Amen K — Google review
Would you dare to drive across a bridge in 100 mph winds? Welcome to the Astoria–Megler Bridge, the longest continuous truss bridge in North America — stretching 4.1 miles over the mouth of the mighty Columbia River, where wind gusts have been strong enough to shake cars and terrify even seasoned drivers. Built in 1966, people once mocked it as “The Bridge to Nowhere”. Today, it’s a stunning gateway between Oregon and Washington — and a symbol of Pacific Northwest grit. 🎬 It’s been featured in movies like “Short Circuit” and “Kindergarten Cop” — because yes, this bridge has main-character energy. For years, the Great Columbia Crossing let people walk the entire span — a once-a-year chance to experience the bridge on foot (no cars, just you and the view!). And no tolls. Not then. Not now. Just open road, wild weather, and a view that’ll stick with you. ➡️ Follow us for more epic places and strange stories across the Northwest. 💙 Thanks for liking this post!

I am from Ohio and drove through MI Mackinac bridge before. This bridge reminds me of that except this is not a suspension bridge and better yet; it's free. The scenary is so beautiful-so worth the drive. We had a great view of the bridge from the Astoria column and Columbia Maritime museum.

Fort George Brewery is a spacious brewpub located in a converted 1920s auto repair shop. It offers wood-fired pizza and pub fare on both levels, with popular beers like City of Dreams Pale Ale and Magnetic Fields available. The brewery is situated near two mod boutique hotels, the Hotel Elliott and Cannery Pier Hotel, offering guests a chance to enjoy Jazz Age grandeur or a lavish spa experience while being close to the brewery's offerings.
We stopped in town and we’re debating between going here or to a different brewery, but are so happy we chose to come here! The food was an elevated hub food, with homemade dressing. Our favorite one was the poutine and the fish and chips (made with tuna, not traditional cod). The beer was obviously also very good. We were told the vortex was their flagship beer and it’s a good piney really good IPA!!

Best brewpub in Astoria, the kind of place you visit more than once. Pub food but dialed up a notch. Great variety of beer styles, including some quality lagers. Good vibes inside and outside. Store selling merch across the patio on the way out. Can’t beat it.
Matthew G — Google review
The burgers and pizza are very good. We had lunch downstairs on the open patio. We enjoyed ourselves very much so we decided to go back for dinner. We had pizza on the upstairs deck. The food was hot and the beer is cold. This place is very dog friendly and both patios welcome them. I thought I took pictures of the pizza, but I quess I didn't.

We ordered Popoey vegan pizza & hummus with pita chips. The pizza was delicious! Garlicky flavours with marinated tomatoes gave it a very fresh taste. The service was great!

Had a one night stop and our son chose this as our dinner option. The vibe is on point, food was solidly decent. Fish and chips were great, wings were good. Oysters were a miss but overall a great experience in a beautiful historic building in a charming little town.

Fantastic. The beer and food is excellent. Great atmosphere with indoor outdoor and sometimes upstairs seating. Got the tuna melt sandwich and it was a huge filet! As much as I’d expect for a dinner plate at a seafood restaurant! The Anaheim burger was also delicious. Cooked to order. Tasty fries. I had a stout that was delicious. Def happy to come here. The chowder is great.
Chris F — Google review
The seafood chowder at Fort George Brewing is outstanding—rich, creamy, and packed with fresh seafood and tender potatoes. Perfectly seasoned and full of flavor, it’s the ideal comfort food for a cool coastal day. Pair it with one of their craft beers and you’ve got a perfect Astoria experience.

Great brewpub serving tasty food and great beer (plus one cider). Lots of beer selections. Located in the heart of downtown Astoria. Tons of dog friendly seating outside plus lots of tables inside. I ordered the Hummus platter which was delicious and my partner had a great hamburger. You order ant a counter inside and they bring your food to you. The staff were really friendly, and Today and welcoming. Wished I lived closer!

The Heritage Museum, located in a historic 1904 building that once served as the courthouse and city hall of Astoria, offers a fascinating journey through the region's rich history. Managed by the Clatsop County Historical Society, this museum presents diverse exhibits covering Native American heritage, local industries, settlers' artifacts, and immigrant stories.
What a fun museum to see the history of Astoria! They have a lot of fun exhibits to check out and the building itself is pretty neat! If you decide to check this place out, this museum has a 3 pass ticket associated with the Flavel house and the Oregon Film museum that is worth purchasing the pass for and checking out all 3!
Jessica L — Google review
Another amazing piece of Astoria’s history. The Heritage Museum offers a fascinating look into the city’s past—from its maritime legacy to everyday life through the years. The exhibits are beautifully curated and packed with interesting details, and the staff are just as friendly and passionate as at the Flavel House. It’s the perfect companion stop if you’re exploring local history, and together they give a full picture of Astoria’s rich and vibrant story.
Jeff C — Google review
I was impressed with the Heritage Museum. I had been wanting to visit for at least two of my my previous trips to and through Astoria. While it may be overshadowed by the larger maritime museum close by, it’s well worth the time to visit this museum which I found to be full of local history. The building itself is a piece of Astoria history which I won’t spoil here. There is a rotating exhibit on the second floor which changes from time to time so I have reason to stop by again and plan to. A bonus is that it is a short walk from the Bowpicker Fish and Chips which I also recommend.
Chris S — Google review
This well-presented museum has exhibits detailing the complex tapestry of human history in the lower Columbia River area. Native and immigrant communities are well documented. This is an essential visit for those who want to understand Astoria more deeply.
Noel B — Google review
Great stop for a nice quiet walk through some very interesting history. There were a lot of displays and they made good use of the space available in the building. Both view only displays and interactive displays were available, with kids activity backpacks near the front desk. Very nice and friendly staff. I will definitely be going again on my next trip through Astoria.
Robbie D — Google review
The exhibits are a bit haphazard, but the staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They quickly and accurately researched where are great grandparents lived in Astoria over a century ago, allowing us to then drive and see two of our ancestral homes.
Susan C — Google review
This is an amazing museum that not only takes you back in time with local history but also shares a national impact. The artifacts and set up of the variety of installations is top notch! Local or travelling through, go to the Heritage Museum!!

September 2025 - This museum is near the main street parking area and you can drive or walk to it. It displays the history of Astoria which is interesting in that the people of the past thought that Astoria would become the New York City of the West Coast. Indeed, the history of Astoria is full of 'first' in that it was part of the Lewis & Clark expedition; it was one of the first and largest lumber areas in the nation; it was originally built on stilts over the Columbia River Waterway until it burned down and had to be rebuilt; etc.

The Cathedral Tree Trail offers a serene escape into nature, surrounded by majestic oaks and pines. This three-mile trail is ideal for walking, jogging, or simply taking a leisurely stroll. It provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural beauty while being just a short distance from the city. The trail can be completed in about 40 to 45 minutes round trip and may get muddy during winter with plenty of roots along the way.
A short and quite easy trail. We saw a bunch of banana slugs and the kids had a blast trying to find the next one! You got to walk slowly and enjoy the solitude and calmness of the trail. It was not we but I can see that with some rain the trail can become muddy and slippery. While the markings and signs are not great but they are still there and easy to find. The trail ends at the Cathedral tree which makes it a fun adventure with a goal! Will highly recommend it if you are visiting the Astoria Column.
Ash J — Google review
not really worth the trip unless you're local or happen to be driving by, a mile round trip from the Irving Street entrance. The cathedral tree itself is somewhat underwhelming. The wide gravel trail up to the tree from the street is steep, that's why I rate it moderate. A great spot for letting kids run off some steam!
Kelly T — Google review
Very quiet and beautiful trail. Lots of maintenance is being done at the moment, so be sure to stay on the actual trail. Most of it is uphill and a little slippery after or during rainfall, but once I reached the cathedral tree, being out of breath and the burning in my legs no longer mattered because I was in awe! It was HUGE! I used this trail to access the Column and didn't wanna pay $5 for parking, so you'll have to park on the street and it has some potholes at the moment and can't hold a lot of cars so go at less busy times of the day!
Taryn E — Google review
Solo hiking felt very safe and easy. I hiked from the Astoria Column, and it took me 53 minutes of a very slow walk while taking lots of pictures. Unfortunately, I missed the Cathedral tree. Well, it was still a nice hike anyway.
Vita V — Google review
I hiked the trail in March, so it was super muddy and slippery. A nice short hike though. Lots of moss and lichen on the trees.
Kevin V — Google review
As a tourist, I do not recommend this portion of this trail! It's not well marked, or marked at all, other than as sign at the top...to Cathedral tree. I never did find the cathedral tree. Worst of all, I got completely lost in the forest. Thank goodness I did have good cell service, or I may still be on the mountain! Finally, I found an open spot I could identify on Google maps! That got me to a gravel packed service road, that got me to a paved service road, that got me to the streets leading back to the top of the Astoria Column where my journey began. What I did enjoy fully was the wide variety of flora and fauna. Taking pictures was my only distraction from getting lost. No, this is not how I got lost.
Debra C — Google review
Had a nice 2 mile (round trip) hike to the Cathedral Tree. Have fun counting banana slugs on the trail and enjoying the buzz of nature on this hike. Be sure to have good treaded shoes - there are some slick parts which my kids would happily explain is wonderful enjoyment to see their dad butt skid down the trail.
Bruce D — Google review
Easy to moderate, shorter hike. Beautiful immersion into nature ending at historic Cathedral tree, or all the way up to the column.

Buoy Beer Co. Restaurant is a captivating microbrewery and brewpub housed in a former cannery, where they expertly pair their craft beers with classic American cuisine. This establishment is exclusively for adults aged 21 and above. The brewery, which opened its doors in 2013, is situated along the waterfront in a historic building that was originally constructed for seafood processing.
Awesome beer flight and super friendly staff, who were planning to drive to the port to return a bag to the cruise ship that a fellow passenger left behind. Thankfully he realized he left it and came back, but their willingness to help was awesome.

A great place to enjoy a beverage (non alcoholic or alcoholic). I love the combo taproom with Pilot House Distilling and Buoy Beer, and the expansive patio that allows dogs! This location is also one of the warmest spots on a summer day (reduce wind), which is rare on the North coast. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating! There is a few choices for different food options making it a great pick for a group.
Kayla W — Google review
My boyfriend and I stopped here over the weekend after his birthday lunch, and we had a fantastic time. The beer (and wine) was great, and the atmosphere and service were, too. The drinks were very reasonably priced as well. Great location on the water, we sat in rocking chairs by the water while enjoying our last drinks. We’ll definitely be back!

First time coming here finally for Lager Fest 2025!! It was a blast! Public House Distilling shares yhr building and they have lots of delicious cocktails, drinks and mixers they make in house!
Lindsey F — Google review
While we didn't eat any food at the food trucks here, the beer was wonderful! It is Oregon after all. Included in this location is a distillery. They do a magnificent job at their craft. I sampled a number of gin's, and they were all well done. Don't miss this gem!
Scott N — Google review
I liked this so much more when Pilot House and Buoy had their own locations. The Pilot House's previous location had more going on than this spot ever will. This is a great location, but food carts is a step back compared to the offerings and service provided at Buoy's previous location, which is currently another brewery! Too often in life, the trade off's aren't worth the compromise, and this new location is a beacon of this. The staff do their best to make drinks, socialize, and give directions to the bathrooms. I like and support both companies, but I wish it did not look and feel like this.
Mike W — Google review
Great time on both our visits this past week. Had a great time chatting with yhr bartenders and other patrons. Beer is top class across all styles. I did have one gin and tonic as well. Last time I was here the brewery was on the pier!

Located on historic Pier 39 in Astoria, Oregon, the Hanthorn Cannery Museum is housed in the oldest surviving cannery building in the area. Once operated by Bumble Bee Seafood, this museum showcases the town's canning history through exhibits and artifacts such as vintage gill-net boats, old photos, and canning equipment.
Absolutely loved my time at this public museum! If you have time, get talking with Peter J. Marsh, incredibly knowledgeable man who has great character and was happy to show give us a tour! Remember to donate as this museum runs on donations. Would totally recommend to visit, if anytime the views are great from the pier too!

Very cool museum dedicated to the old canneries in Astoria, and worth stopping in if you're in town. Half the fun is the drive out on Pier 39, which you'll want to keep to the 5mph speed limit!
John D — Google review
September 2025 - Bumble Bee Museum or also known as the Hanthorn Cannery Museum. This is on a small island in the Columbia River and requires driving on a wooden decked pier road to the parking lot (Not enough spaces, and there is an indoor lot, but it is reserved for the restaurant clients). There is no charge to enter, and there is a 'canvas' shop where the owner makes canvas bags and more. The primary museum area is the history of the Bumble Bee Cannery and its workers. We were very disappointed in the displays as the current owners of the Bumble Bee Cannery corporation apparently do NOT give a hoot about the museum and its looks of displays. Nothing was organized, equipment scattered throughout the building, and most of it rusted and not really worth viewing.
Bill M — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed going through this little museum at Pier 39. There is so much history about the Oregon Coast and the Columbia River regarding all of the canneries. Much of it we were never taught growing up in the area. It's a shame because people - whole families even worked hard in these canneries for years. This particular cannery was a contributor to Bumble Bee tuna. Lots of artifacts, pictures, videos, boats, and misc equipment used for this production are on display. Donations are accepted.
Tammy S — Google review
Very interesting and well appointed museum about Bumble Bee Tuna and the people who worked there.
Christi L — Google review
This is a bit of an odd museum given the displays are machinery and tools packed into an old cannery location. However it does display the history of the canneries in this area. An unusual gift shop and bookshelf with a collection of local items. We bought a used book on rescues (pretty good read). No attendant, an honor system for purchase. You may like it.
Wayne O — Google review
Fabulous free museum on Pier 39 over the water. Formerly the site of bumblebee, The canned fish company started in Astoria Oregon. Canning machinery, boats, nets, and static displays. Also to continuously running videos. One titled "Work is Our Joy" is fabulous. A Little bit of insight into fishing on the river over the last hundred years. Anyone interested should look up the book Deep River by Karl Malantis.
Allen-Paul T — Google review
A great place to learn about the historic Hanthorn Cannery and the local fishing industry. The self guided tour takes you through exhibits that are in industrial freezers with videos and artifacts. You will find exhibits on the crabbing industry, the use of gillnets to catch fish and the history of the Hanthorn Cannery, which became Bumble Bee after several mergers. Old canning machines and work tables exhibits give you an understanding of the conditions that workers endured. The tour will take you to four gillnet boats and a net tender that is located outside the museum. Parking is limited on the pier and is reached by a narrow planked bridge. The Cannery will take you back in time when fishing was the major industry in the area and will help you understand a bygone era.

I’d give this beautiful area a higher score if it wasn’t ruined by the drugged out guy sitting there tripping out. Then another guy tripping out on drugs walks through yelling to himself. Small and underwhelming compared to the description. It would be peaceful to walk through or just sit and relax, but it's in the heart of the city, super congested traffic, not easy to get to, no parking nearby
Susan B — Google review
A nice park to spend an afternoon learning about the legacy of the Chinese in Astoria and the surrounding area. A moon gate leads you into the garden with story panels on both sides from the Chinese community. Look carefully at the map by the gate to find the meaning of the items in the park. The Pavillion of Transition is at the other end of the garden. You will see eight dragon columns and a mosaic of fish in the middle. A cast bronze is near the Pavilion and is a replica of an incense burner from the Western Han Dynasty. A number of other items are in the garden and there are places to sit down. Located by City Hall on Duanne Street and 11th in Astoria. An overlooked gem that honors the contributions of the Chinese in Astoria area and is the two hundred anniversary gift to the city.

Half the lifeguards come across very rude. The pools are always too cold. I have a 6 year old who loves to swim. It's unfortunate this is the only place too choose from in the area. Also for the amount we pay the slide should always be open.

I've been coming to this pool for over 20 years, I've only ever worn jean shorts and a swim top. My 3year old granddaughter was in town from Texas and we decided to go swimming and they kicked me out of the pool for wearing jean shorts and completely ruined a memory for my granddaughter. I asked where this was stated and they searched for a peice of paper that says no exposed buckles rivits or snaps. Nowhere on their website nor posted anywhere in the pool does it say that jean shorts are not allowed! aside from the fact that I've come there wearing them for over 20 years and Noone has ever commented about it

Generally, the water temps are mid-hi 70s for the lap pool, mid 80s in the family pool and mid-hi 90s in the jacuzzi. Very comfortable temps all around for senior citizens. 😀 There’s also a fully equipped workout room with all the weight apparatus, and plenty of bikes, ellipticals and rowing machines. ✅Free parking ✅Towels (with membership) ✅Drinking water station ✅Clean changing rooms & lockers The Astoria Aquatic Center is a great facility and a real asset to this community!

Very friendly desk staff! Checking in is a breeze. We feel very safe in the water there - especially since my son is still learning how to swim. Swim instructors are very patient and kind, plus class sizes are small. They utilize various equipment, teaching the youngsters how to swim. The slide is AWESOME. They allow my son to go down with me! Lazy river is fun too. Such a great pool, in such a small community!

This aquatic center is cozy and has very friendly staff. Unfortunately in this center anyone can take your things and steal them. I went swimming and when I was done, I went to the shower and hung up my swimsuit to drain some of the water. My locker is one meter away and I got ready to get dressed. After 10 minutes when I finished I went for my suit that was literally in front of me but it was not there. In a matter of seconds a woman quickly grabbed my swimsuit while I was getting dressed. We made the report but there won't be much to do. It's that easy to have your things stolen here. So if you go to this aquatic center, be careful when leaving your things even just one meter away from you. There will be someone waiting for the best opportunity to steal your belongings. Especially in the women's locker room. And in the end they won't be able to help you enough!

The Uppertown Firefighters Museum, located in a charming 19th-century brick building near the waterfront and easily accessible from the Astoria Riverfront Trolley, offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of firefighting. The museum houses a diverse collection of firefighting artifacts, including vintage firetruck engines from different eras, photos, tools, and interpretive information.
It might be small and it might be hard to find a day it’s open but boy was this place sure worth the wait!!! I loved every second of the rich history this place has to offer!! That had items from the 1800’s and items leading up to present. You can really learn a lot about the firefighters in Astorias Smokey history. You would be shocked to find out about the fires that have burned this city down. Also one absolutely huge plus is we had the best tour guide anyone could ask for and his name was KEVIN!!! He knew his information, he was funny, he is a firefighter in the area so he could give you a better explanation on everything and personal experiences. We even talked about his paintings in the museum. Truly a great experience at this small museum! Take the hole family and enjoy yourself. I know I did!

The gentleman running the place will give you a personal tour complete with stories of his own time as an Astoria firefighter! His paintings of several famous Astoria fires are a must see too! The fire trucks, which are mostly still operational, are very cool. The public fire box system and its description is a fascinating piece of the pre-911 phone emergency response system. The place is packed with the tech and tools of the past. There are several sets of excellent historical photos as well. Don’t miss this small town fire museum. It is rich in history and full of personality!

Their website says: June-Sep: Open Saturdays 12:00 PM–3:00PM Went this afternoon. A 3x5 card taped in the window says "Memorial Day through Labor Day". Fix your cotton pickin' web site! Astoria is a huge tourist destination, and anybody who tried to visit in September, having looked at the web site, made a trip for nothing.

Great museum. Go visit if you can. Their hours are scarce because it is staffed by volunteers but well worth making the time for it. It's free, but make sure to donate so they can continue to operate this gem. Also, ignore Yelp. Never use Yelp to base any decisions about local establishments. Rotten reviewers, rotten company.

Great place for all ages. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We learned not only about the history of the area, but also intimate details about how all the various devices and tools have progressed throughout the years. Would recommend to anyone!

The Lightship Columbia (WLV604) is a fascinating piece of maritime history that once served as a floating lighthouse at the mouth of the Columbia River. Now beautifully restored, it invites visitors to step aboard and immerse themselves in the life of sailors who navigated these waters. Located along a scenic 6.
Unique ship with a lot of history. If you are not claustrophobic there is access to basement of the ship to see the places used by the crew when it was operational like Beds, Kitchen etc. Easy to enter with small steps. Entrance is included with Columbia River maritime museum tickets. Open only till 3PM though.

My wife and I took a tour of the boat after touring the museum. The guide guy was very informative and friendly.

The light ship was my favorite part of the museum. Granted I loved all of the museum, the boat was special because I can see how the crew lived. 10/10 will be coming back with a friend! The staff was nice and I had a lot of fun!

I’m really into viewing the light ships and have seen a few around the country. This is a nice exhibit and really well maintained. If you like this kind of thing you’ll like this one.

It is wonderful to walk through the ship . It is well maintained. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The stairs inside are steep so be careful . It is historic. It is part of the museum, where you pay to see the ship . The museum stays open til 5 but the ship closes early by 2 I believe . We were there on Sunday .

Frite & Scoop is a charming ice cream shop located in the picturesque Astoria, Oregon. They take pride in creating creamy French-custard style ice cream using locally sourced, real ingredients. Their flavors are unique and feature housemade add-ins like marshmallows, caramel sauce, nougat, pecan brittle, and more. If you're not into sweets, they also offer delicious frites for a savory option.
Fun flavors! I ordered the Golden milk, ginger , turmeric and others flavors, with London Fog! So yummy! The owner is friendly , the place is clean . Nice store to enjoy delicious and home made ice creams
Teira P — Google review
Cute little shop in Astoria to grab some ice cream & loaded fries! They have some unique flavors, I got rocky road & green tea honey, both delicious. The baked potato loaded fries were delicious! Great service, will come back if I’m in the area again!
Nicole — Google review
It's a cute little place right on the water but the no samples is certainly a choice..If the concern is holding the line, they could limit to 1-2 samples. I would have loved to try the London Fog but chose the relatively safe combination of green tea and strawberry and they were good but slightly salty. I personally don't mind but something to be aware. Worth a try if you're in the area but nothing to write home about.
Naqsh M — Google review
Must try the earl grey flavor if you’re a fan of earl grey! I’d say the flavors here are interesting and not too sweet. Hokey pokey caramel was decadent. I’d return even though it’s a bit of a spendy ice cream and modest scoop.
MQ — Google review
This ice cream shop is worth visiting and trying. The flavors are incredibly delicious. I recommend trying the combination of a scoop of hokey pokey and a scoop of espresso in a chocolate cone. The affogato was also quite good.

Fritz and Scoops is such a fun little ice cream shop! The flavors are fresh, creative, and always delicious, and the atmosphere makes it a great spot to stop in for a treat. The only drawback is that they don’t offer samples, which makes it a little harder to try out new flavors without knowing what they taste like first. Still, every scoop I’ve had has been great, and this place is worth visiting!
Kenneth R — Google review
Good quality icecream. It includes classic flavors, and also unique flavors that are changed up on each visit. As always, having it located along the Columbia River adds a lot to the location. You can even be taken there by the trolley if you are here during Spring to Fall. Tasty ice cream though, what else could you ask for?
Aaron T — Google review
Absolutely delicious! While I'm sure the traditional flavors are amazing, we couldn't resist the fun ones! Love me a good Lindon Fog and they turned it in to a fantastic ice cream! The kettle corn was also good! Buttery and sweet! Forgot the lactaid? No sweat, they have a you covered with a gumball machine! Service was fast (be forewarned no tasting), and friendly! Location is perfect to grab a cone and explore the waterfront!

The Maritime Memorial is a museum and park that pays tribute to the individuals who played a significant role in shaping the town's maritime history. Situated near the Columbia River, it features various maritime exhibits and a renowned wall adorned with plaques dedicated to specific contributors. The memorial honors fishermen, mariners, service members, and bar pilots, offering visitors an insight into the area's unique culture.
I didn't hesitate to stop here for a small break from the long Riverwalk, as well as admire the memorial here. So many ships and sailors names rest here, on the site to remember those who died or were lost at sea. The area is very specious, so you can walk around and between the walls without ending up bumping shoulders with other people. The place is also very tidy and clean, indicating that there is some maintenance done here to preserve this memorial. The Maritime Memorial is free to visit, it was not busy at all when I visited on a weekend early noon. Do make this a stop if you are also walking westwards along the pier - you won't regret it!

Very nice memorial with many interesting names and tidbits carved into it which give you a great sense of the history of the area. Amazing views of the huge bridge from right underneath the bridge. Fort Astoria Park is a small park in downtown Astoria, Oregon that features a reconstruction of the 1811 fur trading post. The park is home to various attractions, including replica log cabins and colonial-era flags fluttering in the breeze.
I could still smell the musket powder and beaver pelts. Things to read and grass to touch for days. Amazing views and interesting people all around just doing the same as I. There were a few dog to pet when I visited too. Careful of splinter if touching the wood but it's old so it kinda comes with the territory. It's just something you need to take in and appreciate for what it is. Not sure if the houses near by were built around the same time or not. Great experience!
Alex D — Google review
Not a lot there to do. It is just a small wooden building, and they have covered up the windows so you can't see the inside. There are some good restaurants near the fort though.
Casey L — Google review
Well, I was hoping for more and came up short. The history is cool, but what is left here is disappointing. What makes it worse is the fact there is a brewery right up against it. Takes away from the historical value. But if you have 5 minutes to stop and look I think it’s a great side stop to see.
Casey S — Google review
This is a recreation of the birthplace of the town of Astoria. Basically a historical site only. There is an Astorial Fort about 2 miles away but we did not have time to go there.
Matt J — Google review
The site has a really interesting history, but the structure itself isn't much to look at. It would be more worthwhile if they'd reconstructed the whole thing.

Nestled in a grounded boat right in the heart of town, Bowpicker Fish and Chips is a must-visit for anyone craving classic beer-battered fish 'n' chips. This unique eatery has become an iconic part of Oregon's culinary scene, drawing crowds eager to savor its delicious offerings. While waiting for your order can be part of the experience, it’s well worth it as you indulge in their perfectly fried fish paired with tangy tartar sauce and crunchy slaw.
Extremely well made fish & chips. The breading is well done, isn’t greasy, and the fish is consistently tender and well cooked. It’s hard to describe the crunch it has, but they have it dialed in. Full order is 5 pieces w/fries for $15.00. They’ll give you a small cup of ketchup and tartar sauce. Up to you for other condiments while you’re up there getting your food - including lemon (juice). Not going to lie, the lemon juice instead of lemon slices is a big turn off to me personally but it works. I’ve been here when it opens and an hour before close – there is always a line. For good reason too. Great spot!
Brandon W — Google review
When you see 30 or so people in line for food, you figure that it must be good food. Bowpicker did not disappoint. Bowpicker does fish & chips. And they do it great! Price is good & the quality of the fish is amazing. Not your greasy food truck fish & chips. This is albacore. Tender, flaky, & done just right. If you see 30 or so people standing in line at lunchtime for fish & chips, then you better get in line, too.
Tina S — Google review
Really great one of a kind experience, first for the amazing light and airy batter, second for rockstar tartar sauce, third for albacore tuna fish which is the only fish they ever have in their fish and chips, so stop asking. Bonus points go to the rickety old boat that they cook in. And finally tip of the hat to the staff who seemed to be fun and friendly even though all their customers have just waited in a long line victims of their own success. LOL. And finally the price ain't bad. If you are persnickety and you have not had tuna fish and chips then just know that the fish is going to be rather firm inside. You are not allowed to complain, and this style will grow on you.

BEST FISH & CHIPS! Every single time we pass by the area, it is either too long of a line or we just time it out wrong so we miss our opportunity and they are closed but we finally got lucky enough and I regret sharing the one basket and not trying it before! Haha! If you are ever in the area, please dont make a mistake and miss out on your opportunity! Park it, get yourself in that line and order yourself a whole order per person!!

After visiting the Astoria Column, I spotted a long line by a boat on a hill, turned out to be Bowpicker Fish & Chips! The fish was crispy outside, tender inside and the fries hit the spot. Super friendly local vibe, and totally worth the wait. Felt like a fisherman for a moment 😄. Must-try when in Astoria! Come early, bring cash, and don’t be scared of the line — it moves fast and it’s 100% worth it.
Lior M — Google review
Be prepared to wait on line for the BEST FISH & CHIPS in the pacific northwest! No, seriously, it's THAT GOOD! There's going to be a line of folks but it moves steadily. Eating at some tables nearby will expose you to pigeons who don't mind being getting up close & personal as they beg for scraps. Great, fast service. Soft drinks available for order. Not a bad price for the quantity you'll get. Go ahead and get the full order, 5 pieces of fish and steak fries. You won't regret it.
Troy P — Google review
It is an experience eating from a boat that has been converted to a fish and chips street restaurant. Many claim it has the best that they ever tasted. I am not making that claim. Three small (1.5" by 1.5") pieces of fish and a small handful of skin on hand-cut fries, with a bottle of water cost over $11.00. So feeding a family of four will be about $44 or more. There are better options in Astoria, and other places along US-101 and Marine Drive. The owner and operator should visit the Rock of Gibraltar to see what a really nice Fish and Chips meal is.
Bill M — Google review
There was a wait, but it was worth it. It was very crispy and delicious. I believe it tastes better than what you'd find at a restaurant. There are benches next to Domino's Pizza where you can sit and eat. However, there are a lot of birds. If you're afraid of them, I recommend picking up your dish and taking it to your car or accommodation.

Coffee shop
Breakfast restaurant
Coffee Girl, located on Pier 39 along the Columbia River in Astoria, offers a unique coastal cafe experience with misty morning views and a diverse menu. The cafe is situated in what used to be the oldest cannery in the West and shares its location with Rogue Pier 39 Public House. Visitors can enjoy latte art and homemade pastries while taking in the scenic views.
The line moved quickly and the cashier (I wish I had gotten his name, but male/mid-late20s?) was super pleasant. Our food was excellent. I don’t drink coffee (gasp), but my husband did and said it was great. The atmosphere was perfect! If you love a good walk, park at the Riverwalk Trail trailhead! I mean, it would’ve been a lovely walk without seeing a bald eagle along the way, but that sure made it extra special! The cannery museum and the historical artifacts on river boats were amazing! We will definitely return on our next visit to the area!
Desiree S — Google review
At the outside end of pier 39. You get to drive out onto the pier over rickety planks and everything. Very cool to visit. It's the old Bumblebee fish cannery and now has shops restaurants and some small local businesses inside. Great coffee shop with bagels and pastries etc. THE BEST right up front view of the river in Astoria. Small outside seating area where they used to unload fish. Nice inside area for the usual weather. Nice friendly staff!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Coffee Girl made my mom’s 66th birthday so special! 🎉☕️ We stopped in after church for a birthday brunch, and everything was absolutely perfect! The food and drinks were excellent, and the entire staff went above and beyond to make my mom feel celebrated. A huge thank-you to Hope, who helped us figure out exactly what we wanted and made sure everything came out perfectly. And an extra special shout-out to Hypatia, the sweetest supervisor ever — she asked my mom what music she wanted to hear for her birthday, turned it on, and even brought us extra chocolate for the strawberries we brought in. 🍓🍫 They made us feel so welcome and at home. My mom said it was one of her favorite birthdays ever — and I completely agree. ❤️

Recommended by a friend as the best views for a coffee lover- and they were pretty spot on. This is such a fun place to grab a hot coffee in the morning and overlook the river. The food (with the exception of the pastries) is made to order. I got myself a parfait and it was packed with various kinds of fruits and berries- perfect for a day of hiking. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside while you are waiting for your order to be ready. The staff were super kind and could tell were super busy. Even for how busy it was, it was still very peaceful and enjoyable. The coffee is delicious and made for the perfect start to our day. A go-to for people passing through Astoria.

Came here for breakfast on our road trip - this coffee shop has incredibly atmospheric vibes. They played cozy songs from the 1920s in the early morning, and we got to watch the sea birds play in water. We loved their coconut macadamia mocha! The food was pretty good too - I got their vegetable quiche!

Been a staple favorite of mine for at least a decade. Used to take my younger siblings here for a treat. Now I take my nephew. No matter the weather, it's a perfectly enjoyable place to soak in Astoria, views of the Columbia and the neighboring state of Washington, and if course the coffee of your coffee! Delicious breakfast and lunch bites available. Note: It's on a pier. Personally, I recommend parking on the main land and walking - you can see the boards "piano key" when cars drive over it.

Coffee Girl holds a very special place in my heart. It is by far my favorite coffee shop of all time. I go there every time I am on the north coast, not even specifically in Astoria, on the north coast in general. I ALWAYS end my trip with a coffee and treat from Coffee Girl. Their coffee, teas and Italian sodas are always excellent. The pastries and other treats are all home made and absolutely delicious. There is always something new! My all time favorite menu item is the Bagel and Carrot Lox. I have tried to recreate it at home, but it just isn’t the same. It so wonderful to grab your drink and treat and go sit out on the dock and watch all the boats and wildlife move by. It’s equally as relaxing to sit inside on a rainy day and enjoy the ambience. Wandering around Pier 39 in general is so much fun! Coffee Girl is an Absolute MUST if you are visiting Astoria!

Mo's Restaurants is a family owned and operated seafood restaurant with locations on the Oregon Coast. The Astoria location offers hearty clams chowder, succulent fish tacos and crispy fish fingers. All meals are reasonably priced and perfect for casual dining with family and friends.
Mo's gets a lot of flack for being a chain restaurant on the Oregon coast- but I will say the service, food, atmosphere, and vibes overall at this location were all great. We got seated promptly, waters, asked for a drink order quick as quick could be. Food came out in a reasonable timeframe and tasted good, looked good, and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The food was also consistent across the board. We enjoyed getting to sit on the dock area and seeing the boats on the river with our meal, it was really enjoyable. We would come back to this location!
Jessica S — Google review
The overall experience was pleasant, though the food left a bit to be desired. The waitress was sweet and attentive, as was the rest of the team, which made us feel well taken care of. The location is lovely, we sat out on the back decking overlooking the river and even spotted a sea lion swimming past, which was a real highlight. As for the food, it was just okay. The fish was soggy on the bottom and a bit heavy. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t quite live up to the high 4-star overall rating the place currently has. In short, the atmosphere and service were wonderful, but the food didn’t quite match the rest of the experience.

This was my first time here and was absolutely thrilled about eating here. The best clam chowder I have ever eaten in my life. I'm almost 50 and I have high expectations. Absolutely loved our experience at Mo’s Seafood and Chowder! The food was delicious, especially the chowder with little shrimp, which was rich, flavorful, and comforting. Portions were generous, perfect after a day by the coast. We sat with a beautiful view of the ocean, which made the meal even more enjoyable. A great spot for tasty seafood and a relaxed, scenic atmosphere.

So.. visiting a Mo's is almost a tradition for me every time we go to the beach. Friday at lunch time though, very busy. The server and cashier were friendly, but it was over 30 minutes to get my entree, and I felt it. The cod was excellent but fries could be a little more crispy, though still tastes good. The food isn't bad at all, it's just not award winning. Obviously you need to get the chowder if it's your first time, but for me I've been dozens of times between all the locations. I'll continue going, but I wanted to be honest about it. Bonus points for me seeing a seal out the window.

Great playground, lots to do and explore for all ages. My 7yo could have stayed all day. There is an area designed for smaller kids that’s lots of fun as well. Some benches are integrated into the design for parents who might want to stay close or kids to sit down for a sec. Lots of climbing, some accessible by ramp. Restrooms right nearby but they were locked today (winter time and rainy, clearly not the high season).

Nestled on Commercial Street in Astoria, Custard King is a beloved roadside gem that beckons travelers with its mouthwatering offerings. Known for its delicious burgers and crispy fries, this spot also shines when it comes to frozen custard, boasting an impressive selection of toppings. While many visitors rave about the creamy treats—especially the vanilla cone adorned with rainbow sprinkles—the food itself garners mixed reviews.
Custard is decent, just mirrors the regular soft serve, but the toppings are cheap and generous at $.50+ cents. The hidden gem is their French fries!!! The absolute best French fries I’ve had in the States since the legendary French fries in Brussels Belgium! Crispy with skin on and soft on the inside. The sauce is good but not necessary as fries alone stands tall! Their cheeseburger is great as well, but oh man those fries!!!
Pacmon — Google review
I wanted to try this classic custard and hamburger stand and had a good experience. I ordered a grilled chicken burger with fries, and a vanilla custard with berry toppings after a short wait in line. The menu has burgers tacos, clam chowder, and frozen custard milkshakes, floats, and cones with a large selection of toppings. I received a pager for my order and it took about fifteen minutes. The chicken burger had good taste and was not overcooked. It was a little messy with the sauce dripping out of the burger. The homemade fries were crispy and a little salty. The vanilla custard was rich and a little sweet with the berry toppings. Located on the corner of 16th and Commercial Street in Astoria with limited street parking. You will find outdoor seating and a walk-up window with a line of people. A nice place to stop for lunch and a frozen treat with friendly service, good food, and a classic hamburger stand vibe.

This was my first time. Driven by the place for years but never stopped. Always seems busy so I assumed the food was good. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger for 15.50 which came with fries and fry sauce. The fries were hot and delicious and not greasy. The burger was large with fresh veggies decent-sized Patty but no sauce whatsoever. They had ketchup and mustard packets available at the counter. Menu said it came with sweet relish which it did not. It did come with sliced dill pickle of which I asked for extra but if you call five slices extra I would debate it. Overall the hamburger was tasty but a little greasy because they do brown the bun with butter I'm assuming. The vanilla custard Shake was delicious. Not so sure I will be returning anytime soon but I might go back and try something else on the menu. Outdoor covered seating was clean and comfortable if you don't mind the noisy traffic going by since it's right on the corner. Staff was friendly.

Custard King is a nostalgic little gem that totally hit the spot on our visit. I picked up small swirl cups with hot fudge for my kids and they absolutely loved them — creamy, rich, and just the right size for a sweet treat. The swirl was classic and smooth, and the hot fudge was perfectly gooey without being too much. Service was quick and friendly, and there’s a fun, old-school vibe that makes the whole experience feel special. Great stop for a low-key dessert that doesn’t disappoint.

Nice little place. Seating outside or to go. Dog got a pup cup! Burger was decent size with fries and price was good. Located right on the corner. Friendly staff.

They have a separate fryer for the tater tots and fries, so they are safe for gluten sensitivities! Also have great gluten free buns. One of the best diner type burgers I have had and with friendly service. This was our favorite meal while in Astoria.

The bacon cheese burger is delicious. The fries are perfectly crispy with a wonderful sauce. I bought a sticker for my travel cooler. Love me some Custard King!

I was told that a trip to Astoria wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Custard King, and that statement is 100% accurate. This lil’ spot serves up tasty burgers, fish and chips, and creamy vanilla and chocolate custard with tons of topping options. You order at the window and they have outdoor seating. This is the perfect spot to stop at after a walk through town, after the beach or a hike. It hit the spot and we will be back! There may be a wait, but it is definitely worth it.

Located in the historic Astoria, Oregon, Gizmo's Arcade & Eatery is a family-friendly entertainment spot offering classic arcade games and an impressive hot dog menu. The place is known for its unpretentious yet delicious hot dogs and a variety of choices that won't overwhelm you. With tokens priced reasonably, you can enjoy hours of gaming on classic machines and newer pinball machines.
Love this place! A Blast from the Past to get my 80's nostalgia dose, plus a good place to bring those teenagers who 'tend not to interact'... My nieces loved the air hockey and even played with their Dad and Aunt! Board games available when they want to unwind, and who doesn't love pizza, pretzels and hot dogs??!? Definitely the best place to accommodate all ages and get families to interact again like old times!

Me and my husband stopped in during our honeymoon roadtrip. The atmosphere and 80’s vibes were excellent. The food was kind of basic but still tasty. I could tell that there was a lot of love in that store. All the workers were very kind. The whole experience was great!! I love seeing stores with soul and heart. Only downside is that I played the Simpsons arcade game and the attack button for Marge was broken so I had to be hard carried by my husband lolll. Also from 4pm to 5pm they offer a happy hour where you can get 10 extra tokens if you buy 20 tokens (only $5). It’s quite a steal!

Wandering the neighborhood and we found this place. Some cool old classic games and groovy decor. Played Dig Dug with my son, brought back some memories. My wife and daughter loved the neon air hockey. Check it out!

Enjoyable small arcade with some fun throwback arcade games and pinball. Requires tokens so just be aware in case you suddenly exchange $20 that you'll have all tokens. Karaoke on some nights we missed but the stage looked promising.

Super cool spot to go hang out with friends! It’s like a trip back to the 80’s!!! But hey have different arcade machines to play and many different types of beer and seltzers! I tried for the very first time a seltzers called happy Dad and it’s really good!! Definitely recommend!

What a fantastic place! You are treated like a human no matter what! The owner has embraced this community! He works with the community. He welcomes all! He has already helped some people get back on their feet! He wants to help the city and the people, he does the work. The only people he does not want there are entitled jerks with rude attitudes. Don’t believe any bad reviews, this place is badass! No smoking is allowed because the fines are exorbitant, but people may smell like smoke, IT’S OREGON! Super friendly, super chill. Great place for families too! Kids will love it! One day I went in randomly on the hunt for a specific item and one of his employees helped me find a store to check out! Very friendly! I will return!

It's One Of The Better Places To Visit, I Grabbed A Corn dog Waiting For The 101 Bak To Seaside.. If I Ever Go Bak To Astoria I'll Definitely Visit Gizmo's Again, 'Very Nice Girl' at The Concession Bar Was Helpful🤩

The nostalgia at Gizmo's really puts this place on the map for me! The games are fun and inexpensive while the decor takes you back in time. I enjoy the friendly atmosphere and tasty food and the employees are top notch, going out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. Roger has a great team and location in this family friendly must see!

Comic book store
Nestled in the charming town of Astoria, The ARC Arcade offers a delightful trip down memory lane for both kids and adults alike. This unique venue is not just an arcade; it's a nostalgic haven where you can relive your childhood through classic games like Pac-Man and Pong. With an impressive selection that spans from timeless favorites such as Asteroids to gems like Captain Commando and Metal Slug 2, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
I loved it. They have a few free arcade games which is a great choice to help bring in people. They have food there to so you don't have go some where else. They are also planning to expand so that should help when its crowded. Over all its awesome.
CraftinTeemo — Google review
This is a fun place to blow some time. $5 for 3 hours is you want to play the console games and a quarter fit arcade games. The folks that work here are fun and helpful. My only complaint is that the games need to be serviced. They haven't been kept up very well.
Paddy G — Google review
Most back issue comics not clearly priced and poorly organized. The arcade has many aging games and some allow you to play for free. They have more modern console games also.
James P — Google review
I would not consider this an arcade in the old school sense. I'd say 75% or more of the actual arcade games are out of order and they no longer have any pinball games. However, if you want to sit and play a console video game, just like you do in your living room, you can pay to do it here... ? I guess the appeal of that is totally lost on this 80s kid! It'd looove to have pinball back! We used to actually come from Portland just to visit this arcade, and it was so disappointing last time.
Heather K — Google review
Giving two stars because I like the idea of it and like the philly cheese steak, I been here a few times over the year. Today was horrible all the games are broken and the few that work take your money, garbage everywhere and children climbing on machines. Unless I hear that they stepped it up.i will not be returning. I'd rather go to seaside and pay a fortune but have a much better experience.
Sheryl S — Google review
Great selection of games from oldies like Pacman and Asteroids to personal favorites like Captain Commando and Metal Slug 2 and none of those chuck e cheese tier crap machines!!!. if Arcade games arnt your thing you can rent out consoles for 5 dollars for the whole day "first come first serve" Only complaint I have is it can be alittle cramped with all the machines and a couple of times the employes forget to check the consoles as there will be a game left in it "just a heads up!! D: dont wanna lose your stuff guys!!" still dont pass it up, probably the best arcade I have ever been too!!
Dillon D — Google review
Really awesome console rentals, including the only VR rentals I've ever seen. It's an arcade, game store, ice cream shop, and comic shop all in one! Truly nowhere like it
Donovan L — Google review
The Arc Arcade is a retro arcade that sells comic books. The prices for food and drinks are an acceptable price, and there are even games that supply tickets so that you can get prizes. And there are next gen game consoles like the Playstation 4 and Xbox One
