Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection is a charming 18th-century hotel offering free Wi-Fi, parking, and breakfast. It overlooks Piazza del Giglio and Piazza Napoleone and is conveniently located near restaurants, cafes, and boutiques. The hotel has a rich history as it was once a glass-blowing workshop and the residence of an aristocratic family before being transformed into a hotel.
We came here via Tauck touring for one night. Very quiet, pleasant atmosphere. Concierge enthusiastically got us reservation in a small "local" restaurant which readily prepared my food vegan. (Trattoria Canuleia). Room was smallish. Bathroom elegant. AC was QUIET. (One of my most important ranking qualities) Location awesome. City very walkable especially on top of the wall around it.

Grand Universe Lucca is a beautifully restored boutique hotel that blends timeless elegance with modern comfort. Located right in the historic center, it’s the perfect base to explore the city. The rooms are stylish and quiet, many with stunning views over Lucca’s rooftops. Staff are warm, professional, and truly go the extra mile. The breakfast is excellent, and the rooftop terrace is a hidden gem—ideal for a sunset drink. Highly recommended for a refined and relaxing stay in Tuscany.

Fantastic property in a superb location small village between Pisa and Florence. Restaurant was good for dinner or you could venture out into the streets for an amazing assortment of local cuisine. Staff is warm and welcoming and willing to help with information or a dinner reservation. The bar staff in particular seemed to know the guests like friends and listened to their stories and experiences with engagement. Such a delightful experience and the room we had was the perfect mix of old world architecture with modern amenities. My wife especially enjoyed the bath salts!

This is a gorgeous, centrally located, historic hotel. The room was large but as typical with many hotels in Italy, there was a paucity of places to unpack and hang things. It had a small armoire, but it didn't hold much so again we were back to living out of our suitcases for a few days. Still, this was a really marvelous hotel. The service was exceptional. The dining room is also spectacular along with the food!
Susan G — Google review
We didn’t stay in the hotel but took some friends to the rooftop bar for a drink and antipastini.. service was so slow and definitely not 5 star trained employees. We arrived at 19:00 and left after 22:00! For 2 normal cocktails, warm oysters and terrible shrimp tartare at €90 person seemed extremely overpriced. Too bad, it was nice up there but we would never return
Laurie F — Google review
The hotel is beautiful inside and is located in a great area. The view from the top Champagne bar is spectacular. The rooms are designed lovely, comfortable and are well equipped. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We received recommendations and great advice from Matteo. I highly recommend it.

Great Stay In Lucca Reviewed Jan 18, 2024 via mobile Very good stay at Grand Universe in Lucca, Italy. Hotel located near main gate to town just a short walk from train station. No SNA but upgrades to Jr Suite. The entire staff has been so kind…Mare at Check in and Maria Pia each morning at breakfast. Our Jr Suite overlooked the courtyard and statues. Even with rain, we ventured out each day to stroll the streets. One day we took the train to the coast and strolled the boardwalk at Viareggio. Elite breakfast and a ten dollar f&b credit. Property is very nice with a rooftop bar overlooking the city. We chose Lucca to celebrate my wife’s birthday and couldn’t have made a better choice. The staff had a welcome bottle and also sent up a nice birthday dessert. We have been traveling Europe for over a month and must say that the hospitality we received at Grand Universe has been the best anywhere. Highly recommended for a short or long stay in Lucca. Date of stay: January 2024

Grand Universe Lucca Have you ever fallen in love with a hotel the moment you set eyes on it? After walking for a few minutes, we arrived at the square, where our destination, the Grand Universe Lucca, stood sentinel over the Piazza del Giglio, the Teatro del Giglio, two cafes, and in the center of the piazza, a memorial to General Giuseppe Garibaldi. We quickly entered the hotel and stopped in our tracks. The ambiance was cool, quiet, and very luxurious. The lobby exudes elegance with sophisticated decor. A grand piano reflects ornate chandeliers hanging from the high, arched ceilings. Plush seating areas invite you to relax. Rich fabrics and warm colors create a welcoming atmosphere, complemented by artwork that reflects the charm and history of Lucca. We sat down at the reception desk and began the usual process of documents and credit card registration. We were hours early, so our room was still being prepared. The charming and professional receptionist called a porter to store our bags and invited us to have a complimentary drink in the bar. As we entered the cavernous room, we saw our bags were waiting on luggage stands. At the coffee table sat a bottle of local port and lovely biscotti to enjoy with our coffee. The room was gorgeous! Towering ceilings soared above the hand-textured walls. The ceiling was adorned with rich, dark wood beams that created an impressive architectural frame. Puchinni’s portrait dominated one wall, reminding us that the renowned composer lived and worked in Lucca most of his life. A bathroom can make or break a hotel stay. Grand Universe Lucca’s designers created a spa-like room that the two of us could comfortably use at the same time. The double sinks had individually light-controlled mirrors and lots of surface space to keep our toiletries organized and separated. Lots of hooks and towel bars were available, but our favorite bathroom accessory was the towel warmer. We love it when we see them in a hotel bath. A spacious shower with excellent pressure and an endless supply of hot water featured skin and hair products that we used daily. Soft, oversized towels and plush robes enveloped us in comfort, providing a luxurious feel after an invigorating shower. Indulge in luxurious comforts to enhance your stay. Relax on the rooftop terrace and champagne bar with unforgettable views of the historic city of Lucca. The hotel features a state-of-the-art fitness center, perfect for maintaining your workout routine. For relaxation, a beautiful lounge area is available. The lounge is by the gourmet restaurant serving superb local cuisine. Additionally, complimentary Wi-Fi and a 24-hour concierge service will make your visit a one-of-a-kind indulgence. Staying at Grand Universe Lucca is an unparalleled experience of style, comfort, and luxury in one of Italy’s most enchanting towns. The hotel’s ambiance combines elegant decor with modern amenities, creating a serene retreat. You will be immersed in breathtaking views of the Piazza del Giglio from your room. Indulge in exquisite dining with locally sourced ingredients. You will savor a delightful breakfast buffet and unwind in the opulent lounge, accompanied by local music. The attentive staff ensures a personalized touch, making you feel special throughout your stay. Whether you’re exploring Lucca’s history or relaxing in style, Grand Universe Lucca is the perfect escape.

Albergo alla Corte degli Angeli is a small family-run hotel located within the walled town of Lucca, just a few steps from Piazza Anfiteatro and the main shopping street. The hotel offers warmly decorated rooms, some with whirlpool tubs, each adorned with a floral-themed fresco that extends into the bathroom.
We loved it here. Set on a quiet street near a shopping street and piazza full of restaurants. The rooms are ample and beautifully painted. The bed was comfortable and breakfast spread was great. The staff were kind and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Very cute hotel lots of neat little things in the breakfast room. rooms are cozy. It was quiet sleeping. Bathroom is very nice. The breakfast is very good. The only thing I really didn’t like is if you’re driving a car and you use their parking it’s €18 which is fine but Google maps will take you on a real adventure. Ask the hotel for details on getting to the hotel as they know the easy way. Google is not your friend.

My husband and I spent two nights at this charming hotel. The staff are most helpful and friendly and very attentive at breakfast time. The selection at breakfast was very impressive with fresh coffees made to order. The room was very comfortable with everything available for your comfort. Thank you for making our stay so nice.

A beautiful hotel, we had a clean and spacious room. Service is wonderful and makes you feel at home. Breakfast is generous filled with home made pastries, all presented in beautiful dishes.

This place is the best - staff is beyond helpful and friendly - rooms were big and comfortable with good mattresses- walking distance to everything - and the breakfast was varied, plentiful and delicious. I will make a point of returning to Lucca because of this place -also convenient valet parking

Lovely little hotel, the rooms are tastefully decorated with painted tuscan scenery. The staff were very friendly and gave great tips about where to eat in the evenings.

Loved everything about this hotel, lovely rooms, great breakfast, the kindest staff and perfect location (Lucca is amazing so would recommend to stay at least 2 nights!!). Oh and the winebar that’s part of the hotel is a must too

Hotel Palazzo Alexander is a refined and elegant hotel located in the heart of Lucca, housed in an 1100s building. The upscale hotel offers elegant rooms with grand gilt and chintz decor, parquet floors, and some rooms feature private balconies with city views. The historic building provides easy access to Porta San Donato and is complete with amenities such as free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and multilingual staff.
This was a good value for the cost and a charming place to stay. It has a historical feel and graceful rooms with high ceilings and decor just as in the photos. The best part was Roberto, who welcomes guests and runs the breakfast. He is a very kind soul and super accommodating. I also appreciated the Nespresso coffee machine in the room, which was perfect. I think the breakfast could have more items on the buffet (fruit salad, more yogurt/muesli selection) and the room could have more toiletries), but it was otherwise a wonderful stay on a quiet street in a great part of the old town.

I just wanted to share how amazing the staff here is. I am in NY, and I needed last-minute help TWICE, for a guest staying there on scheduling a car for pickup and drop-off. Riccardo, Mario, and Gabriele corresponded with me via WhatsApp and Email to get the job done. Despite the time difference and the language gap, they were exquisite in all arenas. Will recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Lucca. Thank you for all your diligent and professional care and dedication!

Lovely hotel run by extremely friendly staff. Clean, spacious rooms. Old fashioned decor. We stayed in 2 connecting rooms (1 king, 2 twins) which was perfect for the family. Close walk to the center of town. Delicious breakfast. Would definitely stay here again when in Lucca!

We had car (puncture tire) problem. Owner drove with us to two garages to look for repair service which took over two hours. This is ABOVE AND BEYOND service the he provides to guests. Absolutely wonderful people.

B&B Anfiteatro is a charming property located in an unbeatable position overlooking the Piazza dell' Anfiteatro. The elegant and spacious rooms are air-conditioned, offering a comfortable stay. Guests can enjoy a daily breakfast at a nearby restaurant, adding to the overall charm of the experience. The friendly staff and clean, well-maintained spaces make for a delightful stay.
Absolutely worth the money spent. Great location, helpful and friendly staff, discounts for dinners in restaurant owned by them. For breakfasts you get cakes, cereals, yogurts, juice and cafe, but would be nice to have some cold cuts and cheese as well.
Miko W — Google review
Large and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is a bit of a let down, being just bread and cold meats with juice, coffee and yoghurt. Centrally located near the main Piazza so great location with unlimited restaurants within 100m.
Leigh A — Google review
We really enjoyed our stay at B&B Anfiteatro! It's housed in an authentic old Italian building, the rooms feel cosy, the terracotta flooring and the interior decor are very charming. It's also quite central, and everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. It is a considerable walk from the station, though, so keep that in mind if you're coming to Lucca by train. We stayed in the Puccini room, and I loved how clean it was. The bathroom was spacious and clean as well, and there was the classic bidet. 🥐 The breakfast was quite filling - an assortment of cold cuts and cheeses, sweet and savoury pastries, fruits, yogurt, oatmeal, fresh juices. The person that was manning the breakfast buffet was really friendly and made us coffee every morning! ♿ Keep in mind that the place isn't accessible for wheelchair users because of the stairs at the entrance and some tight spacing between the furniture.
Denitsa G — Google review
I stayed here for 2 weeks while attending the Lucca Language School and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Bright clean room on the second floor, accessible by lift, with its own ensuite in the heart of this beautiful city. A delicious breakfast was served from the owner's family restaurant every morning just around the corner. Francesco spoke good English and was always willing to help. I've been to Italy many times but staying at this B&B in Lucca was an experience I will cherish for a long time.
Jill L — Google review
Lovely b&b friendly staff great breakfast room's are spotless and nicely decorated great location 😀
Ian K — Google review
Location is fantastic as it’s just outside the Anfuand though the place is old (understandably so as it’s in the historic old town), the required necessities have been upgraded, like the lift, shower, taps, air conditioning units etc. There is a shared area with tables, chairs, small kitchen and fridge.
Sarah S — Google review
Anfiteatro is really good, kind staff, clean space and good offers. The rooms are located not far from the reception. The furnitures in my apartment was new, prefect cleaned. The rooms have AC that works perfectly. The international breakfast served near the reception is very good with different kind of dishes.
Simone V — Google review
We checked in on July 19th in the middle of a heat wave and our room was down the block from the main building on the top floor. We had to drag our heavy suitcases up 3 flights of stairs which was a big inconvenience. We were u see the impression our room was the one shown on the website and air conditioned. The a/c unit was not working properly and the apartment was extremely warm. Connected to the back of the portable unit was a hose that needed to be out the window, therefore the window had to be kept open letting the heat in which was counter productive. We awoke to water all over the bedroom floor and our suitcases wet. We checked out the next morning and had to find another room. We have pictures showing the portable a/c unit sitting crooked on a box with water and towels all over the floor. We put a claim in with Expedia in order to get a refund for our inconvenience, and antifeatro declined to honor our request. The BB is run down and needs major updating. The office staff does not speak English and it was difficult communicating with them. Not to mention, the office was a mess. The hotel we stayed in was a 4 star charming hotel and it was 45$ cheaper a night than this run down BB. It’s unfortunate that the situation was not handled properly. I would never return to this location or refer anyone else to stay there either.

A very modern and stylish hotel in a restored palazzo. We had a room in the roof which was really fabulous! Very central but only a 15 minute walk from the train station, ideal for exploring Lucca. The staff are lovely and the breakfast fantastic!

Quality service from start to finish. Clean and tidy. Lovely breakfast. Overall just a really well-run, stress-free hotel with great attention to detail. By quite a margin the best hotel we stayed at during our trip to Tuscany.
Kristian U — Google review
We popped into this hotel, hoping for a quiet bar that would give us some respite from the heat and noise. Palazzo Dipinto didn’t disappoint. The receptionist Francesco was beyond inviting and competent. Not only did he make us some delicious Limoncello spritzers, he checked in a new hotel guest and parked someone’s car outside, all while being conversational with us at the same time. The bar area seating is elegant and quiet, the hotel is ultra clean and modern, and the location is superb. We look forward to staying here one day when we visit Lucca again.

We stayed here for 3 nights May 2025. The beauty of this hotel is that it is exactly as it describes itself. The staff are friendly and helpful, the location is very central and the rooms are full of character. If you are coming to Lucca you should definitely look at this hotel.
Nigel D — Google review
We were a family of 3 and booked 2 double rooms. The hotel is charming, antique and modern, luxurious and quiet. Great mattress, very kind and friendly personnel, garage onsite, everything in at walking distance, delicious breakfast. We highly recommend this exquisite gem!
Charlotte C — Google review
We stayed in this hotel for two nights. The location is ideal. It's very close to all the sites yet it's in a quiet corner. The rooms are very well appointed and very large. I did find two bugs but otherwise the room was nicely cleaned. There were two small complimentary water bottles the first day. The breakfast was good with fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, bread and lots of other choices. The coffee was delicious! The only thing I would add is a Nespresso in the room. Also, housekeeping should replenish the body gel etc daily
Monica B — Google review
Plus: location, nice breakfast Minus: basic sparsely furnished room, no Nespresso in room, terrible wifi, AC not working well. Summary: a three star hotel priced as a five star.

Perfectly located in Lucca, just 10 minutes from the walled center and 20m walk to the main places. Weird villa shielded by trees, but nice. Room was small but adequate bathroom fine. Host was nice. We stayed for €55 in September. OH and free parking and early check-in possible.

SCAM – We booked a stay at this hotel in February for April 2019, pre-payment was required by them. We received a confirmation of our stay. We arrived at the hotel, on the scheduled date, to find them CLOSED. There was no one there, no returned calls, no returned email – No Reply, Nothing. They took our money with no response. Do not book here. The only way to post with is with one star - but there should be No Stars at all as they don't deserve any.

Best family owned B&B where you feel at home in the enchanting medieval town of Lucca, an historic house like no other, Claudio is an amazing person who has passion for hosting people.
Jonathan L — Google review
The owner was very friendly & let us into the room early (around 10am when check in was supposed to be 2pm) as it was ready so we could leave our bags & go out to enjoy the city without carrying them around with us. The room was very clean & spacious, we only stayed for two nights and so didn't expect the room to be serviced after the first night but it was - you can see a lot of care goes into the business that I believe is family-run. The walls (we stayed in the attic) were rather thin but we fortunately had considerate guests staying next to us so there were no issues there. I would just say that the sensors for the lighting need sorting at the top of the attic stairs - I almost fell down having not seen a step.

The very best is feeling very welcomed by the owner, Mr Claudio and his assistant. They make everything possible to give you the best experience. He even took us back to the train station on a rainy morning with his own car, so nice of him! Thanks Mr. Claudio and Al Tuscany for this great experience in Lucca!

I highly recommend Al Tuscany to people who are eager to experience a bit of the real spirit of the city of Lucca. This August, my boyfriend and I spend few nights at Al Tuscany. The place has definitely its own Tuscany-style charm, white antiquarian furniture and decors. Claudio, the owner, is always available and extremely helpful. Some of our documents got lost on the way to Lucca, so Claudio helped us making some calls and fixing the situation for us. So, thanks to him, we could keep enjoying our holiday. Al Tuscany is an elegant and cosy place at the same time. I wish to go back soon!

Palazzo Tucci is a charming B&B located in the heart of Lucca, offering traditional rooms adorned with antiques. The building itself dates back to the 17th century and was once owned by the influential Moriconi family, known for their involvement in the silk industry. The palace has been meticulously renovated and now features six grand bedrooms, each boasting frescoed ceilings and original furniture.
Stunning ornate palazzo located perfectly in the center of the old walled town. Easy to get to from Lucca station, bus 3+ drops you off out front. Fairytale atmosphere, each ceiling is ornately painted, marble, flooring…the accomodation was certainly a highlight of our stay. Then Lucca... what can I say, a marvel I recommend it to anyone who wants something exclusive in the city High standard residence. Great breakfast, friendly host.

Loved our stay at Palazzo Tucci! The hotel is beautiful and the staff was excellent. Our hotel room was very pretty and spacious and the breakfast was really good. Staying in the hotel made us feel like royalty. If we're ever back in Lucca, we will definitely stay at Palazzo Tucci again. 10/10 definitely will recommend to friends and family.

This is not a place for modern minimalist. It has all the weight and beauty of time that has passed. It is a memory rather than a presence. I loved my stay here in the middle of Lucca, particularly the very spacious rooms and the high ceilings. Breakfast room is special in its modesty and regal feel. It is reasonably priced and offers a lot well attuned with Lucca unique protected centre .

The best place I stayed during my three week European tour. When they call it Palazzo, they’re not kidding! It’s an actual palace. My room was gorgeous, the breakfast room so stunning it made me gasp (and a delicious breakfast as well), and a kind and courteous staff. Special thanks to Sandro (a member of the Tucci family), who greeted me and checked me in. He gave me a map and circled every location I wanted to see, showing the exact path I should take, and made other suggestions of sights of interest along my chosen path.

This is a brilliant place to stay in Lucca. The rooms are elegant and spacious with painted ceilings. A delicious breakfast in a grand palace room. Kind and warm service. Car parking. Ideally located for exploring Lucca. Highly recommended.

Our room was fantastic considering the cost , the shower needs redone at least the grouting , the Palazzo is full of character. The location is fantastic and the chance to park is wonderful. The very best thing , even better than the museum like surroundings were the staff , from our meet and greet by Ilaria ( I hope that's correct name) to the housekeeping , the breakfast service and the young guy at check out , the staff were five star, I hope they are appreciated.

Only a few rooms in a lovely old Palazzo still inhabited by the owner on the ground floor. Big and nice rooms and the breakfast room is an epiphany - high ceilings and full of baroque paintings! It didn't feel posh though, but welcomed and very family style. Would definitely recommend it! It's inside the city walls and you can reach all the attractions by foot.

Very interesting and unusual place to stay - 17th century palazzo. It felt exciting living in that environment. Though it looks a bit old at the first glance, it definitely has its charm. I would stay there again if I have a chance. The staff is nice and helpful, it's a family owned palzzo-hotel. I felt lucky I stayed there, highly recommended. P. S. the breakfast is decent, their espresso is just excellent- probably the best I've ever tried. I was wondering what coffee beans they use for espresso - it had such a fruity taste!

Lucca In Villa Elisa & Gentucca is a charming, well-maintained guesthouse with spacious and airy rooms. A garden is available for guests to enjoy. The property offers free breakfast and free WiFi. Lucca Railway Station is 1 km away.
Charming little villa right next to the walls of Lucca ensured a pleasant stay. High ceilings and tiled floor (might be cold for some in the winter). The breakfast was decent and the coffee good. The host is kind and attentive, the self check.in process is clear. The property is about a 15-min walk from the train station, but there's a bus just next to it, takes you around the walls or to the station. Beds are very comfortable I must say and the bathroom spacious. Very quiet and peaceful here at least in the winter and you'll get a great night's sleep. Great value for price.

This bed and breakfast is perfect for a couple nights’ stay in Lucca. Located right across from the city walls, restaurants and shopping. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful - especially Elizabeth at reception who recommended excellent restaurants and called to make reservations. Nice breakfast included. Rooms are nothing fancy, just basic, but clean and comfortable beds, excellent housekeeping and good a/c! Highly recommend; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay :)

We initially checked in early but the room was not ready so we left our bags with reception. When we returned at 9pm, there was no one at the reception. We were not warned that this would be the case. As travellers from outside of Italy, if we hadn't purchased a phone card in advance, allowing us to call the manager, we'd have been stuck without a room or our luggage for the whole night. The side door was built in a way that if you open it the first time without knowing about it, you were bound to injure your right thumb. They don't have soap or shampoo dispensers in their bathroom, only packets of shampoo/soap (which was not enough). When we asked for more for the 2nd night, they still did not supplement us with enough.

Just had three days in Villa Elisa in Lucca. Lovely welcome, great rooms with marbled floors, quiet air-conditioning (which we needed in high temperatures!). Lovely range of breakfast food too. Highly recommended and also so great to be able to leave the hire car in their car park. Staff are so friendly too. A real find!

An excellent B&B/ hotel in a lovely villa. Lovely and clean room and bathroom, coffee- and tea-making facilities, a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was very good and extensive with fruit, sweet pastries, toast, rolls, cheese, ham etc (so Italian as well as Continental). Excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff that speak Italian as well as English. And all this at a stones throw from the famous Lucca wall. Highly recommend!

A good guest house. Lovely staff. Being here you have a feeling that personal really cares about guests. The only thing to improve -to make anything possible with common walls between bath room of one guest and bed wall of another one. Because in deep night, when someone takes shawer, it's impossible to sleep:(. Special thanks for modern design:)

I have very recently returned from staying seven nights this beautiful villa hotel outside of Lucca walled city. It was a splendid stay. Beautiful location and grounds. Lovely, comfortable room. However the highlight for me was the staff - they were very attentive, and always eager to do what they could to help us. A very special mention and thank you to the restaurant staff who went beyond professionalism to ensure your experience was a memorable one with fine food and wine. I cannot recommend Villa Marta highly enough … you won’t be disappointed.

We first visited Albergo Villa Marta back in 2018 and we immediately loved this place. The hospitality of the staff and the beauty of the villa and its surroundings stayed forever in our memories. Villa Marta has a very unique atmosphere and something that you don't easily find in other places. When you are there you can really relax in the lovely rustic rooms or the beautiful gardens. It is a very charming and elegant place that brings you a feeling of serenity and home. For all these reasons we decided to come back and have our wedding there this past summer. We want to thank all the staff who made that day unforgettable with their kindness, attention to detail and dedication. Daniela, Michele, Pasquale, Gian Luca, Roberto, Sara, Jessica and everyone else in the Villa a big thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!! We will be back soon!

We took family room with connect rooms and one shower. The rooms were clean and nice. On the children room the air condition didn't work well and it was not good because of the weather. All others were great. The owners are available, smiling and help us. The place is close to the main road and 7 minutes from lovely Lucca

Easily the best hotel on my Italy trip. The amount of effort and attention to detail is beyond me. Lamps, wall paintings, furniture - all authentic but not cheesy in any way. All fits. It's also very clean and tidied up. The personell also run the place and they are easy to talk to. Have a glass of wine in the evening in the living room like place or in the garden if the weather allows it. The breakfast is delicious and offers little unusual things like ginger but is mainly focused on Italian specialities. Try the homemade cake. It's a winner! Parking is available on site and it is safe because only guests and staff has a key to the gate. It's advisable to book early particularly in the high season between April and October. In summary, you are missing out if you do not go there.

Very nice hotel. The prices were excellent during off season. 35 eur for a double room for one person, breakfast included. The rooms are spacious and there was also a relax area with some games. Elevator is available if needed. The location is good if you don't need to be in the center but want to go to the airport quickly. The breakfast was good, with some nice cakes. Recommended!

Great people, I understood they work there, live in the villa and are the owners so the services were perfect and friendly. Congratulations. The hotel features an outdoor pool, hot tub, and outdoor dining for a relaxing experience. Guests can enjoy stunning views from the rooftop terrace and garden or take advantage of amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access and tour/ticket assistance. Additionally, the hotel provides room service and is pet-friendly, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests.
We recently stayed at Hotel Villa Casanova for 3 nights while we looked at wedding venues in Tuscany, we booked a Deluxe Suite with Valley view. The hotel was beautiful - traditionally styled, with modern facilities (the elevator was definitely a bonus!) and immaculately kept. The views over the valley were stunning, the staff were really friendly and accommodating! The breakfast buffets were well catered with a large range of tasty continental choices and also some cooked eggs and omelette options. We only had time to eat one evening in the hotel restaurant, but was really tasty and we both commented on how both our desserts were some of the nicest desserts we've had! We'd definitely recommend and we'll definitely be back for another visit!

This was our second visit to Hotel Villa Casanova. We had been there ten years before and loved it. Our hope was that it had not lost it's charm. Luckily it was even better. It is in a lovely green hilly area about a fifteen minute ride from Luca. The former villa has twelve suites each with views, some with balconies. Each has large bathrooms . The small elevator delivers people and luggage quickly to each of the three floors. The decor is lovely and comfortable. Beds sheets and towels are luxurious. In June when we were there, all meals were served by the pool which had a lovely view of the distant mountains and the beautiful gardens around the hotel. The service and food , breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent. All the Rooms professionally cleaned quietly while we ate or were off in Luca. The staff was very helpful as to directions to places in Luca and they served snacks and drinks by the pool. There is a tennis court and large beautiful gardens to walk in. Inside there are lots of interesting books all around to borrow. It is like being a guest at a private country villa. . We found the quiet relaxed atmosphere a perfect place to rest after the crowds of tourists in Luca. We cannot recommend this small hotel more highly.

The hotel is completely inflexible once your booking is made. Despite giving them six months' notice, they refused to change or modify our dates. Due to a family bereavement, we were no longer able to afford the trip, but the hotel showed no understanding and did not accommodate our cancellation request. We were also unable to speak directly with a manager or supervisor.Be aware of this when you book. We booked through booking.com who were happy to waive any fees to us and the hotel but they still refused to help.

We loved Lucca and L’Antica Bifore! It’s a stunning , historic building in the heart of the old city, totally authentic and full of character! Alessandro was so kind and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for him. Thank you so much Alessandro for the memorable stay!

Excellent location and host. Very clean rooms. Only downside was the very uncomfortable bed, at this price point unnecessary. Rooms also directly end up into the common area room. This area is furnished very nicely in an antique, charming style, but there is little privacy feeling because of the proximity of your door to others. Overall very charming and the host is really a great guy. Gave good tips and information, even went the extra mile to accommodate the breakfast with allergies. Recommended!

We had such an incredible stay at L’Antica Bifore! Alessandro and Alice were so friendly and helpful. The room was so cool!!! Great view, great amenities. Gorgeous decor. We went to Alessandro’s restaurant one night and it has been the best meal of our entire trip! Lucca is a magical place and our stay at L’Antica Bifore made it even better. Great location, too. What a beautiful Guest House! The location is as central as possible. The rooms have so much charm, are spacious, and have great views. You can tell a lot of time went into the details of the entire guest house--from the local cookies in our room to the perfect furniture for the space. It was like we were transported back in time. Check in was super easy and the owners were lovely. It was obvious they wanted our stay in Lucca to be great. Thank you for the wonderful visit.

L'Antica Bifore is a great place to stay in Lucca. The historic building (Dante lived there while in exile from Florence!) is in a great location on one of the main streets and is beautifully furnished. What made it even better were the hosts, Alice and Alessandro. Would definitely stay there again when returning to Lucca!

I would highly recommend L’ Antica Bifore to anyone planning a trip here!!!

We stayed 3 nights in Oct 2018. I was attracted by the history of the old tower in which this B&B is located plus it’s in a delightful spot in the center of town where everything is happening. Our windows opened to a bustling street scene and a gorgeous cathedral. Hard to beat except to put icing on the cake our hosts were simply wonderful. Attentive, helpful, knowledgeable and a real bonus to help you sort out the many things to do in Lucca. One little thing I loved was renting a bike for the day from the owners. Convenient and one third the cost at the train station. Bike is a great way to see this gem of a city. Stefano and Brid, the owners are gems as well! Go there, I think you’ll love it. Just don’t take our room when we go back!!

I wish I could give them a higher rating because L'Antica Bifore is more than deserving of it. This B&B is what dreams are made of. Not only is the interior absolutely stunning but Alice and Alessandro are so welcoming and kind. After a nightmare with the airline, Alice and Alessandro went above and beyond to make the start of our adventure perfect. Lucca itself is a beautiful city to explore with a lot more to see than you realise and L'Antica Bifore is right in the centre of it all. The location is absolutely ideal if you're looking for a beautiful quiet location to explore from. It's very close to popular places like Florence, Pisa, and Cinque Terre. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat and I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone wanting to visit Tuscany.

Beds were very comfortable and everything super clean and tasteful. Breakfast each moring is amazing with freshly prepared food and cakes, fruit, joghurt, bread, juice and great coffee. Marta and her son, Giorgio, run the guest house, and they do it with so much commitment and love that one feels immediately welcome and home. Marta's suggestions for day trips and sites to visit are super helpful and always excellent. There is also a bar where guest can get drinks (wine, different beers, soft drinks) throughout the day and night. We already stayed there two times and it always felt like paradise on earth to us! For those who are looking for a calm, relaxed and easy accommodation in the northern part of Tuscany, Martas Guest House is the perfect bed & breakfast for you. Perfectly located between Pisa and Lucca, it is easy to go relatively quick everywhere in the Tuscany. Rooms are very clean and equiped with all necessary. We stayed in the apartment with a fully equiped kitchen. But the best was the breakfast, which was every day hand made by Marta and family members, with every day changing egg meals, pizza variations, fresh vegetables & fruits and cake. And that‘s all in addition to the usual stuff you expect from a breakfast (bread, cheese, hem, cereals, yogurt,…). All personal is very friendly and willing to help and to share recommendations about the area. Hospitilaty is better than in a 5 star Hotel as you feel it is all managed by the family what make you feel home. Highly recommend to stay here.

The guest house has beautiful and spacious rooms and all the amenities which you require. The place is equally close to Lucca and Pisa and easy to get to by public transport as well as by car. Its isolated enough to be cozy and connected enough to be accessible. There is an amazing restaurant nearby which Marta will recommend to you and she will even prepare a personal travel plan for you in the morning, along with a fabulous breakfast. Do not forget to snatch away some bottles of the wonderful wines which are priced very reasonably. All in all a great stay with very warm hosts. Thanks Giorgio for the ride to the airport since we were late at booking a taxi, hope you both are staying safe in current times.

This place has a lot of potential and could do with a few improvements. For starters, there could be more than 3 hangers in the bedroom and a small piece of furniture for storing clothes would be welcome. As would a few bars in the bathroom outside the bedroom for drying towels. The shower was unfortunately lukewarm. The accommodation is very well located in the old historic centre and the staff are friendly. Our first two nights were restful, but I was woken up on the last night by other guests who noisily settled into their rooms at 12.30am and roamed the corridors for part of the night. You'll have better luck if the other guests are discreet and their check-in is not done after midnight! I thought it was a bit expensive for the quality of the rooms and the service.
Harika R — Google review
We booked for 2 nights. Check in was awkward. Rooms are clean, furnishings are aged and sparse, but adequate. I reserved a room that was advertised with an in room bath. We were given a room without a bathroom. Claudio, a kind man, made the change for us. Several things in the shower and bath were broken. The bed and room were generally comfortable. The walls are thin. The feel is more hostel than hotel or B&B. When I travel alone I often use hostels to save money and enjoy them very much. However, when traveling with my GF, we prefer accommodations of a slightly higher standard. 2-3 star (European standard) are totally fine with us. For the price paid we expected accommodation similar in standard to what we have had for the previous 2 weeks of our tour. Hotel Sienna in Verona, B&B Hotel in Como, Best Western Hotel Regina Elena in Santa Margherita are examples of places we have stayed, priced within 5-10 euros of each other and what we paid for B&B Violleta. I'd be thrilled for 35- 40 Euros per night, But 75 euros is too much for this place. Look elsewhere.

Location's great, though from some rooms you can hear the neighboring restaurants til midnight which the owner can't do much about. My -1 star is for the poor check-in process: the owner told us to go to the train station and directed us to follow walls and signs and walk 5 minutes at 10 in the evening whereas we could've just driven to the location and parked (which we did afterwards as we couldn't see a thing in the dark), then infront of the main door, he told us to wait whilst he opened it remotely which happened after about 10 minutes of waiting and 2 calls back and forth. The key to the door inside the apartment wasn't too hard to find (for anyone searching, it's behind the Violetta sign) though the owner's directions as to where the keys were hidden, confused us quite a bit. Inside there is a shared cooking area and your room, for which you don't have a key to lock the door, so when leaving the room you have to take all valuables with you. The remote for the AC was poorly taped together and didn't work at all and the second bed for the room was quite hard on your back. Considering the location and price, you can't really complain much but at least some things could've been improved.

I stayed here with my wife for 3 nights. The place is just perfect from every point of view! The attention to detail is incredible, from the premium materials used in making the place, to designer lamps, room perfume bottle from the reception, perfect and very comfortable beds and the very attentive staff!! Not a lot of villas in the city center with a pool on the premises & free parking. Situated just 10 min away from the city center (walking distance) it is the perfect place to stay and enjoy Lucca!

An absolute luxury in the most non-pretentious way! It was such a pleasure for us - the location, the setting, the facilities, rooms and all the little bits, that you don’t even think you need until you do! The team is fantastic and if you ever meet Simonetta, everything will make sense to you quickly! She’s amazingly kind and thoughtful and has brought 5 star luxury to the cozy villa, that feels like home! Will definitely go back to Lucca and Villa Fedora ❤️❤️

We found the room welcoming, with a comfortable bed and clean. The very spacious bathroom is also equipped with everything you need. The attention to sustainability and anti-waste is also nice. Good and plentiful breakfast with very helpful staff. The only flaw is that the croissants are not fresh. Convenient for reaching the center of Lucca on foot. Everything about this hotel is excellent from the warm welcome from the staff Diane and Olivia to the beautiful room.. It was our 22nd Anniversary and they made the room look sooo romantic with petals and a beautiful rose 🌹. The location was perfectly…we enjoyed the bar downstairs H & G Coffee Lounge (cocktails amazing). Lucca such a stunning place.

The service, the hospitality ,the great breakfast ,the wonderful upgraded suite. The amazing location and suggestions of places to go by the host make this the spot in Lucca. It is a bed and breakfast so it is almost like your home away from home . A 17th century building gives it the harm you expect . Don't pay attention to the entrance because it is not indicative of what's I side. Just SPECIAL is all that can be said.

Very nice place with gorgeous rooms and very helpful staff. Had an exceptionally pleasant stay. Only down side was we travelled for 12 hours to the property and arrived at 14:00 and was told the place was closed for lunch, which in turn meant we couldn't even leave our bags and had to lug them around the town for an hour until check in at 15:00. After our stay this was a small prìce to pay but please be aware that check in really is at 15:00!

I've traveled the world and can say with confidence that this villa and its proprietors, Monica and Manuela, are exceptional. They welcomed us personally and warmly upon our arrival. They ushered us to a beautiful room that was incredibly clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. They incorporated an amazing breakfast into the stay - so fresh and full of variety. They went out of their way to help us navigate their city as first-time visitors, making wonderful recommendations and lining up friendly taxis for us. And they ended our time together with a thank you gift. Wow! This is THE place to stay in Lucca, and we can't wait to go back. If we could give this villa an 11 we would! Thank you Monica and Manuela for an unforgettable stay. :)

We had a very good time (6 nights) at Villa La Tuia! Manuela and Monica were very heartly and attentive hosts!!! The rooms were stylish, very clean and super comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and variable. We loved the town of Lucca, which was close to Villa La Tuia, there are many good dining locations and for the region typical shops. You can also visit a lot of different interesting places by car from this B&B. All in all Manuela and Monica made our stay at Lucca unforgettable. We wish them all the best!

If you want to go and eat, or to the beach, or whatever place you would like, you will get the best places from the two amazing ladies. Breakfast in the garden is amazing… basil and tomatoes from the garden near the table, pastry from the best places in Lucca, better than France! Free and secure parking in the yard, you are at maximum 2 minutes from the walled old town - Mura. You just can’t get better than this - parking, price, location, facilities. I stained at Hotel La Tuia with my husband and my 3 years old son. We all loved it! The owners are two lovely, friendly and helpful ladies. The decor of the hotel and of the room is very elegant and tasteful. The room was spacious (massive bed!) and very clean. Plenty to chose from for breakfast, from fresh fruits to homemade cakes to scramble eggs, cheese and ham. Personally I loved the position. Just outside porta San Iacopo. Every morning before breakfast I went out for a run on Lucca’s wall! Quite area but one step from the busy Lucca! Highly recommend it!

Nestled in the picturesque hills just outside Lucca, Tenuta San Pietro Hotel & Resort is a delightful 16th-century villa that offers an enchanting escape into nature. Surrounded by lush olive groves and vineyards, this charming retreat features ten beautifully designed rooms and suites that highlight its historical character. Guests can indulge in exquisite regional cuisine at the on-site restaurant or participate in engaging cooking classes to learn culinary secrets.
Our stay at Tenuta San Pietro was superb from start to finish. Even prior to our arrival, communication with the staff via email was simple and our inquiries were addressed in a timely manner. Once there, we were treated like royalty by the invaluable Elisa -- an absolute treasure of a human being and a phenomenal person to assist in all facets of our stay. From setting up transportation, to checking in with us daily regarding meals, to overseeing all accommodations in the lead up to our trip, Elisa is among the best in the hospitality industry, hands down. Our mother uses a wheelchair and we wanted to be sure she would be okay to access the hotel and get around the property okay -- Elisa went so far as to record videos of the entire property and all the entryways and send those videos to me personally via Whatsapp so I could see for myself what obstacles we may face. While the property itself is stunning and our meals were a delight, Elisa was the true star of our stay. As for the rooms themselves -- they are on the smaller side, but this is to be expected because the property is very old. The showers are also very tiny. That aside, the overall hotel is in great condition and the views from the property are nothing short of breathtaking. I'd recommend this place to any traveler and am already dreaming of a return visit. Some items to be aware of (and of course check with hotel staff to be sure I'm getting this info correct or to see if things have changed since our stay in June 2024): - The hotel has an elevator -- it is very small, but comes in very handy for heavy luggage and our mom, who uses a wheelchair, used the elevator to get from floor to floor with no problem - Meals were available each day but we had to work with hotel staff to see what was available and when -- it does not offer a fully functioning restaurant -- rather, staff would tell us each day what food was available and then we'd create a menu based on what they had on hand. This was no trouble -- our meals were spectacular and very well priced -- just something to be aware of in advance. I believe breakfast may be covered with price of the room but I cannot recall, so be sure to ask about this. Breakfast was incredible -- very substantial -- you place your order in advance with the front desk (usually the day before) and then you can add to it once you're seated to eat if you decide you want additional items. - Transportation to Lucca, the town below in the valley, took about 20-30 minutes by car. Elisa set up transportation for us to and from -- it was simple, affordable, and the drivers were lovely. They picked us up at the hotel, we roamed about town for several hours, and then they picked us back up in Lucca and drove us back to the hotel. - The pool is gorgeous and the views from the hotel/pool are simply stunning. - The vineyard close by, Tenuta di Valgiano, is worth a visit. It can be reached on foot from the hotel -- approximately a 10-15 minute walk. One final shoutout to Elisa who is the best of the best!!! We cannot thank her enough for making our stay nothing short of exceptional.

I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Tenuta San Pietro in September 2022 and absolutely loved the location. This venue ticks every box from a wedding photographer’s perspective. It’s a truly unique venue nestled within the Tuscan hills. The outdoor options are great visually but you also have a covered terrace should you need it. Tenuta San Pietro would be a great wedding venue for International & UK couples to get a real taste of Tuscany. Photos by @photography_34 on instagram

My wife and I had a wonderful stay here during our honeymoon. The house was so cool - centuries old covent turned into farmhouse, completely modernized on the inside with all the ammenities you could ask for. Stepping out into the back area during the early morning amongst olive trees, grapevines, and the roosters crowing peering along the horizon seeing all of the farmland, vineyards, and cypress trees in the distance was breathtaking. Inside, the service at this agroturissmo was unmatched. Every morning Bertina would check in with us to ask what we had planned for the day and give us excellent recommendations for sites to see, places to eat etc. And the food here... wow. We ate some of the best meals of our entire trip here at Tenuta San Pietro including the best Cacio e pepe I've ever had in my life. Their local wines, and their use of local fresh ingredients (like their olive oil, pecorino, fresh made pici,) made for an unforgettable dining experience. We highly recommend this spot if you're planning a trip though Tuscany

A really wonderful experience from the moment of check-in until the end of our stay. We stayed for 3 nights. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful. The views from the hotel (tucked on the side of a hill) and from pool-side are breathtaking. We enjoyed a very delicious dinner at the restaurant one night, appetizers another night, and also breakfast each morning. Our room was clean and comfortable with its own patio. The atmosphere was so relaxing - We really felt refreshed after our stay. My husband and I can't wait to come back! One note, however is there is not much parking at the hotel and the roads are very narrow which is a little tricky at night. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!!

We visited the Tenuta already 5 times and now we are even celebrating our wedding there. The view is amazing as the hotel is settled in the middle of the vineyards. We were staying just a couple of kilometres away in the amazing Villa Il Luccio so very convenient for a light lunch. The pasta, especially the ricotta and chard stuffed ravioli simply the best you'd get anywhere. All is elegantly served with kitchen baked rolls and their own organic olive oil. Quiet at lunchtime, at least midweek. Evenings are busy so be sure to book. They also produce their own red wine which is definitely worth a taste.

Corte dei Folletti is a charming family-run accommodation located just one kilometer outside the medieval walls of Lucca. The lodging offers a unique and rustic style, with guest rooms adorned with goblin and fairy frescoes, wrought iron beds, and antique furnishings. The multilingual staff provides personalized service to guests. Visitors can enjoy a quaint garden with a fountain and beautiful views.
Corte dei folletti is just as enchanting as its name suggests: hidden into an unsuspecting building and magic on the inside. The high wooden ceilings are paired with beautiful furniture pieces mostly made of wrought iron and solid wood and the bricks walls are filled with paintings of some of the cutest inhabitants of the fairy worlds hand made by artists. The luminous patio, accessible through the entrance hall, is enclosed amongst the privacy of high walls and features a lovely garden with a fountain. The size of the place makes it just as calm and intimate as a rental apartment but with the extra feature of being cared for by the kind and lively personnel that makes the magic of the hosting arts come true. Corte dei Folletti had me sweet dreams assured.

Having a motor cycle tour through Toscane we've decided to stay in the beautiful city Lucca and found the nice comfy hotel La Luna in the center of the town. The receptionists do speak English rather well and communication is very pleasant. The rooms are small having air conditioning and a separate bathroom. It is not a luxury hotel but for a few days it is a very nice stay. The hospitality is great and service is fine. Even a garage (did spent some extra money on that) was available to park my motorcycle in a safe place. A well provisioned nice breakfast was served. A good stay in a nice place! A remark however is that all electricity is shut down as soon the key-card is removed. this includes the minibar and airco..... a bit strange.

Avoid at all cost!!! Stayed here recently and our belongings and car were held to ransom unless we paid additional costs. It felt as we were being blackmailed. The manager was threatening, abusive and very very rude, although he may have some mental health issues as his behavior was very strange . We are now taking action, to prevent this happening again as this is unacceptable. The visit was very upsetting and stressful and was not what we were expecting and we did not feel safe. The rooms were of a poor standard and some of the pictures on the website are very misleading as not even of this hotel.(stairs) If you are looking to stay in this lovely city then please look at other hotels as we are not the first guests to get caught from what we have read. We could not leave fast enough.

The lady who rescued us after a difficult drive through the city was a delight. The suite we had was very comfortable. The recommendation made for a restaurant was superb and the general information given to us was extremely helpful. We both loved Lucca and the hotel’s location was very convenient. I recommend travelling to Lucca by public transport. The city is not car friendly!! Having said that the hotel provides a city permit for the car and has a garage which needs to be precooked. Parking in the garage is a little expensive but worth it. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The place enhanced our stay in a beautiful city.

We stayed for a night ahead of our flight back to Britain the next day. The room was nice and clean. In the morning we couldn’t get a taxi to Pisa airport, so Iacopo (I hope I’ve got the spelling right) came into work early to drive us all there. That’s a level of customer service you don’t get very often! Lovely guy and I hope to return to Lucca. Thank you

No problems with the rooms or service at all, except for only having one card. This limited being able to charge any devices while out but that's understandable (electricity would cost a fair bit). Only downside was the heaters and the Aircon not working. Safe worked perfectly, minibar in immaculate condition, and a beautiful reception and dining room / bar. 10/10 would choose to come here again if I visit Lucca in the future.

Larger apartments are equipped with self-catering facilities, living and dining areas, making them ideal for families. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and access to a hotel hub with a bar and helpful staff. The newly opened property provides luxurious, modern apartments decorated in unique themes.
The place was super nice. Everything was clean and the hosts were super friendly and helpful. It has AC which was amazing for the hot summer. It has a private and safe parking. It’s 8 minutes walking to the city center, and the neighborhood was super safe. It has air purifiers in every room (even bathrooms) and it is well equipped regarding kitchen appliances. I would really recommend the place.

Excellent spot. 5 min walk to the city gate. Great rooms, responsive host with Whatsapp.

We did not regret choosing to stay at this place for four days on our trip. First of all, it is right next to the historical city wall, a few minutes and you can already enjoy the historical city with all the entertainment. And also after long walks, it's great to return to quiet and tidy apartments. Extra kudos to the host who offered other apartments without any problems because the air conditioner was not working in the first ones.

Very well looked after, modern and clean apartments. The receptionist were both very lovely. The continental breakfast was great and very generously portioned. Great location and value for money.

We lived in a spacious, new, clean, luxurious apartment and was so well taken care of by the staff. The apartment had 3 bedrooms, each with high hotel standard- so we were really paying for 3 hotelrooms with a living space as a bonus! Breakfast was ordered a day ahead and served fresh on a tray at our desired time the next morning. Its located just a few minutes outside the walls, on a quiet street- with free parking. The price is VERY reasonable. This comes highly recommended and we would definately come there again! Our children would rather stay in the apartment than eat icecream! Hurry up and book now, the prices are bound to go up!!

Le Dimore del Borg Hotel Apartements located just a few minuts outside the city walls of Lucca was a brillant choice. The place opened only recently and is both luxurious, spacious and modern. Each of the apartements are decorated in it's own unique way according to a certain theme. We stayed in The Traveller. It is a very spacious 2-bedroom and 2-bathroom apartement with a complete kitchen and dishwasher, aircondition and luxurious bathrooms, large closets, very tasteful decor and a long small balcony facing a side street. There is free parking in a fenced-in lot on the back of the building, airconditionned reception and elevator in the 3-story building. Code keys come with every apartemen. During reception opening hours check-in and -out is handled most dedicated and politely by the very kind and accommodating staff. Breakfast can be ordered the day before on menues and apart from a minor mistake of our requested no-sugar items everything was freshly made and packed for our order specifically. Pricerange is perhaps towards the high end, but the experience in all was very much worth the cost - we can highly recommend Le Dimore del Borgo and will seriously consider staying there next time we need accomodations in Lucca

The venue provides a dining room, terrace, and spacious family rooms suitable for up to four children. Guests can enjoy free self-parking, a patio, and even access to a barber shop on site.
Great place to stay for the price. Just 2-3 mins walk from the Porta Elisa gate of the old town. We had a big room and a very decent sized washroom. Also, a nice balcony.

Although located just outside the old town wall, it is very convenient to access both the old town wall & the railway. Helpful &friendly service. Good rooms. Can hire bikes, a good way to get about. Wi Fi available but not to every room. Would stay here again.

There is parking available. Breakfast is sumptuous with a great cup of coffee. We got the ground floor room, which is large, but the wifi is rather weak since the room is one of the 2 furtherthest from the office. A very quaint B&B.
Helen L — Google review
I was on this B&B on 2004 and 2006, for the some period (for Lucca Comics & Games) between end of october and begin of november. The rooms was very clean and recently renowed but something was not so good like you can aspect from a 60€ pp room. The breakfast was poor and quite sufficient, full of packed junk food (on 2004 for a better price we had handmade sandwiches with ham and fresh orange juice). The "rent-a-cycle" service was on payment (5€ per day) is the better way to reach the walls of town, and hotel personel leave to you the "bike tuning" with monkey wrench and screwdrivers... The parking space is a nightmare, the internal court is small and fully of hotel's owners and a near shop's owners, the only possibility for guest is try to park on the near church's park (just ask to the glady prey). On sum this B&B can try better for the customers, starting with the price then for the parking (owners not in advance of customers) and at the end a lot better breakfast service (please not pre-packed junk food and a microwave for cooking).

It’s very far from train station and old town center. It’s my fault that I didn’t pay attention that the reception is only open between 3:30pm and 6:30pm. We took bus and got here under a extremely hot weather. Luckily, we found a excellent cafe bakery next door to enjoy/cool the temperature. The manager is very nice and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious. However, the bed cover looks it’s not been washed for a while. That with the desk cover were not very clean for sure. There’s a little dead bug under the comforter and bed sheet. Some dried up saliva on one of the pillow cover. The old air conditioning was ineffective. The cool air couldn’t be sent to the whole room. Although it supplied a wooden bar to put the curtain away from blocking the cold air. It only helped a little. The shower curtain was filthy. The shower gel was very bad quality. Fortunately, I brought my own soap. On the other hand, the breakfast room was bright and shining! It was opulent and refreshing. All the typical good breakfast you would expect were there. There weren’t Hot Dogs or scrambled eggs which we’re totally ok by me. The lady was very friendly and kind. She was constantly preparing the new food and serve on the table. Also, there was bike for rent with 7€ a day. We only got to use it for the late afternoon till the Puccini’s Concert was over. We were able to bike around and on the town wall for a good sightseeing and exercising. The first manager was very nice and spoke good English. He assigned us a three bed room upon checking in. And told me I could leave the luggage on it if I liked. Of course, I dud not need to. The check-out manager tried to charge me for three beds. He claimed that I requested three bed room. How ridiculous! Why would two people need three beds??? After I insisted, he finally backed down. Overall, Not until they improved the cleaness, I’m afraid that I can’t recommend this lodging for travelers.

Guests rave about the warm hospitality provided by the owners, who are always on-site to ensure a welcoming atmosphere. Many visitors have described their stay as unforgettable, highlighting the spacious family-friendly rooms and the serene beauty of the grounds.
Weekend trip, car hire recommended but not a requirement, we found more flexible to venture out and about. Shuttle bus and local transport available. Staff very helpful and English speaking.

We had such a wonderful stay at this property :) Our hosts were so kind, and their property is so beautiful. They did all they could to ensure a nice stay for us. For example, we didn’t have a car, and it was a holiday (unbeknownst to us). We had planned to go to the spa about 15 minutes away. That morning when we realized the bus was not running on its regular schedule, we decided to scrap that plan and began walking to the local caffe. What happens next? Sweet Giovanni, our host, pulls up alongside us and says he will take us to the spa and pick us up when we are ready. The property is beautifully maintained, the pool a nice respite, and the very small town charming. I would highly recommend Villa Del Papa, especially if you have a car.

+ Very friendly and helpfull hosts. The villa is 15 minutes away (by car) from Pisa and Lucca, just perfect when you stay in this area. It has a beautiful garden and a nice pool area. Our room was okay (studio). - But overall it was to expensive. No breakfast included. No room service. The shower was tiny (goodbye elbow).

Daniela and Gianni thank you so much for your hospitality. We felt very welcome.

We found this off of google. I honestly didn't know what to expect nor did I have high expectations. I even told my husband if we get there and it's not good we are leaving. We pulled up and I couldn't believe the jewel that we had found. This is the coolest place we had stayed at on our European vacation. Beautiful grounds, very nice pool, rooms were nice. I wish we could have stayed here longer than just one night. The owners are on site and made you feel at home. They were super nice and helpful. Great host! I would have given a 10 plus but google only lets you give 5 stars.

This hotel is a 16th-century building in the heart of Lucca, and offers en suite rooms with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a minibar, and a satellite flat-screen TV. It also has a buffet breakfast that is served until 11:00.
Great location inside Lucca walls, walking distance to train station, car rental, shops and restaurants. You can always take a taxi but we travel light and prefer to walk. Staff here are great and helpful, breakfast plentiful, and just a cool entrance on an active street, so noisy outside till around midnight after dinner hours. We stayed in the large room which was very spacious and comfortable.
Mr. B — Google review
The star of this show is Ingrid who was our host for two days as well as doing most of the work of caring for us. Her information on access to the hotel before we arrived, the notices she provided for us to display in our car, and the updates when things changed showed a person who is not only well organised but cares! The hotel is part of a very grand old town house accessed through a big heavy door. Then there are stairs to climb! This maybe an issue for people with limited mobility. Everything was very well cared for and clean. The room was a great size with a big bed and a number of chairs, a minibar and wardrobe space for our clobber. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi shower unit that required a degree in engineering to fathom out all it could offer, but it worked brilliantly. The room had unintrusive air-con. Breakfast was a buffet with Ingrid providing hot drinks to order and also baking cakes! (Told you she was a star!) We were provided with keys to the large door onto the street as well as a key to the hotel front door so could come and go as we pleased. There is also paid parking available. This is about 400m from the hotel on a separate street. The only small negative was noise intrusion especially from the street. I feel as much as could have been done to mitigate this had been done. The room had double glazing but with a narrow gap to fit the traditional frames of a very old building. There were also shutters which we discovered for the second night which helped further. Ear plugs have also been provided! But it is a busy street and is cleaned in the early hours of the morning on a daily basis at about 4 am even after the rain had done much of the work. Overall a great place and a most genial and caring host.

Excellent stay at a wonderful hotel. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The air conditioning was perfect on the hot Lucca days we had. Was quiet enough to be able to leave on all night without it keeping you awake. Marta and Ingrid were both fantastic and really helpful. Breakfast was just enough to get your day started. Would absolutely stay again.

This is a charming and elegant hotel in a beautiful building - the location is very central but all is quiet and calm and relaxing inside this lovely building behind the huge and impressive wooden entrance doorway . The room was upscale, yet cozy!! Nice wooden floors and a wonderful jet tub! We were close to everything!! The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout the stay! Great breakfast!! Last, but not least...we got to hold a key for one of the beautiful doors within the city :)) Be sure to get the address to the parking lot for your navigation and the necessary code in order to arrive stress free :))

This was an old fancy palace right on the main shopping street. The layout is a little crazy, a giant wooden door, a courtyard, hall to a glass door, upstairs to the desk, better have a reservation! Down stairs through halls to a room right over the shopping street which can be noisy. The room is comfortable but amenities a little sparse, no way to make coffee in your room. Nice breakfast available. Nice and helpful staff.

This husband and wife team is so delightful and hospitable! What a great little gem we found in this place, beautiful room with probably 15' ceilings and fit for nobles. Worst B&B experience ever! I have traveled all over the world and had some bad experiences, but this one tops them all. We arrived for a two-night booking. Unusually cold and rainy. No one was on the premises. We had to call a cell phone and wait for the owner to show up. He checked us in, showed us a map, said all the right things. When we returned that night, we had no heat. An old, old building with 20 foot ceilings—all the heat rises to the top, of course. We're up past midnight listening to a plumber bang around. Now we're dealing with the mom. She is apologetic. We finally get a few hours sleep. We woke up to no heat--freezing under layers of cover all night. Ate breakfast with our heavy coats on. Again the mom was apologetic. We decided to leave on the spot. Rather than comp us the room for a horrible night, she took the cash I offered for one night's stay. We get back to the US and I discover I have been charged for the original two nights as well. So, we paid for three nights in a freezing room for a few hours of sleep. I contacted the owner via email and he said there was nothing he could do, that the two nights were booked through a third party. So rather offer to credit my charge card, or send me a check, PayPal.... he kept my three nights of payment. Unbelievable! DO NOT STAY IN THIS PROPERTY!!!!!!!!!

Quite a big room with modern shower and great decoration / styling. Equipped with high quality coffee machine. + Cleaning - 100% perfect (and we checked under sofas and over wall paintings and shower). + Service - Rebecca (the manager) is extremely friendly and the service is superb. - Daylight- Our room had only one small window with limited daylight getting in. I wouldn't give this much attention as the lights in the room cover for this.

the host sent me a message on a day of my arrival that check in should be before 7 pm as they close at that time. I was very surprised, and sent a screenshot of my booking to a host where it says that after 7 pm there will be a self check in. In response the host said that she will allow it only if I pay city tax 3 euro per person with my credit card before I arrive, or i will not be allowed to enter the property. This was so unfriendly and ridiculous. I have stayed in hundreds of guest houses and have never heard anything like that. When we arrived, it was very hot in the unit since a heater was on. I texted the host asking where a remote control for AC is but she never responded. The worst part was driving to the house which is located in old town and requires permission to enter which the host requsted from the city. She sent me the instructions how to enter and exit through the same gates to avoid a penalty but those instructions were poorly written and impossible to follow. As a result, i had to exit via a different gate. When I asked the host to call the city and explain what happend so i can avoid getting a penalty, she refused. The room was nice and clean though

Tucked away in the charming Lucca Centro Storico district, Pergola House is a delightful 3-star B&B that offers an inviting retreat just minutes from the city's cultural gems. Guests rave about the spacious and tranquil rooms, which are impeccably clean and well-maintained. The warm hospitality of Lucia, who manages this lovely property, adds to its charm; her kindness and professionalism create a welcoming atmosphere that makes visitors feel right at home.
We had a good stay, very comfortable beds and great pilovs! The breakfast was Tasty with large choise of breads, sweets, juices,... The apartments are on a good place, direct in the city center. The building is very old and you can just feel the history inside.

I only give 2 stars for the kindness of Lucia, the lady who runs the bed & breakfast. Lucia tries to please the customer, paying attention to his needs. She is a sweet person, with whom you can dialogue willingly. I paid 275€ for 4 nights, I DON'T DESERVE IT. Let's start with the major problems. 1) there is no shower cubicle in the bathroom and every time I took a shower the floor got wet because the carpet was not sufficient; 2) there is no curtain and the shutters are old-fashioned. Besides being difficult to open and close, I always got my hands dirty with dust. So I was always forced to go to the bathroom to change (where there is only a small window); 3) in five days I could only watch TV half a day because the TV does not receive the channels properly. 4)I WAS AWAKE EVERY MORNING because the doors are soundproof and at night I could sometimes even hear guests from other rooms going to the bathroom or using the water. Other problems: 1) the cleanliness leaves something to be desired (I found dust on the cupboard shelves and the toilet brush was not completely clean); 2) I did not feel safe in the evening when I returned to the bed & breakfast because Piazza Romano is a bit isolated and dark, and there is a homeless person living under the portico of the church opposite; 3) if we want to be precise, the furniture on the ground floor is old, it should be renovated; 4) when you have a large suitcase, there is a problem because there is no lift and, above all, the stairs are old and narrow

Nestled in the picturesque hills of Lucca, Tenuta di Tramonte is a charming boutique hotel that offers an idyllic escape from city life. This stunning estate features Villa Trenta, a historic residence with roots dating back over five centuries and now available for rental. With its antique elegance and private pool, it accommodates up to 24 guests, making it perfect for family gatherings or group retreats. The hotel boasts an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by lush gardens, providing a serene atmosphere for relaxation.
I’ve never had a more marvelous time staying away from home. Lorenzo and Laurence just began running this 6-room property as a hotel, not an entire villa rental, this year. How lucky for us! Such an intimate, relaxing, and delicious stay. Their newly hired chef prepares an incredible (and shockingly affordable!) 4 course dinner each night. So nice to be able to unwind with such a fantastic meal with ingredients grown on the property, after a day of exploring Lucca, Cinque Terre, and Florence. The hotel’s small staff, and husband/wife duo owners, all have an incredible eye for delightful hospitality touches. They noticed we took a late night swim in the pool, and the next day, made sure we had fresh pool towels in our room after dinner.

You couldn’t ask for better hosts than Laurence and Lorenzo! The rooms are large and comfortable and the views astounding. They bottle their own wine and olive oil, both delicious. The town is quaint and you can’t miss the Tuesday market on the piazza. Highly recommended.

The most fabulous and relaxing stay we’ve had in Italy! We asked, if they have a room available for another night within 15 min from arriving! Owners are the most welcoming and warm couple- they gave us a tour of the property and told us the history of it! They will look after you like no chain hotel will- my favourite little touch was being offered freshly picked plums while relaxing by the pool. The pool… it’s a natural, spring water one- no chlorine, no chemicals, you can drink of it… We’ve had the most relaxing time just lounging in the shade of the olive tree and listening to water running to it! The food is absolutely gorgeous- different, fresh made dishes with the ingredients straight from their kitchen garden… we’ve stayed there for every meal of the stay- didn’t feel like we had to venture out at all! The wine they serve and make is absolutely sensational! So is the olive oil and limoncello. Everything very reasonably priced. The rooms are very specious- we stayed in 2 and they both had a massive bath tub and were very tastefully decorated to the highest standard. Staff is super welcoming and helpful. Nothing is a no- they are there to make any of your wishes happen. After a 2 night stay in this stunning place we are leaving refreshed, relaxed and ready for the rest of our honeymoon road trip in Italy. With our bellies full of gorgeous food and boot of their wine and olive oil. 11/10 in every aspect!

Absolutely incredible and a must stay!! The perfect balance of old charm with all modern and new finishes, locally sourced and vibrant artwork, luxurious comfy bedding, and so spacious. Stayed in the suite and didn't want to leave. Staff was accommodating and food was farm to table and perfection. Ate on property 2/3 nights and completimentary full buffet (with made to order eggs). If you're looking for slow pace luxury outside lucca or in Tuscany, don't think twice and stay here.

We stayed here early May (a little late with this review) and absolutely loved our stay. We stayed for two nights with our toddler. The villa is absolutely beautiful and the family who owns it are so lovely. Our daughter loved interacting with the dogs over breakfast outside. Although it rained our entire stay and the sun of course came out the morning we were leaving we really enjoyed our stay here and will come back for sure the next time we visit Italy. Thank you for a great stay guys. Hi from Los Angeles ☺️

Truly exceptional in every sense of the word. I tried to find a flaw in this spectacular boutique hotel set in the Tuscan hills overlooking Lucca and I couldn’t find one. The accommodation, service, food and location were all brilliant. Will definitely come again.

I would give this place 20 stars if I could. Amazing service by Lorenzo and Laurence the co hosts, special shout out to Pedro who was the sweetest helping us with food, bags, etc. gorgeous rooms, AMAZING meals, impeccable attention to detail.. we would seriously come back every single year if we could. Thanks for making our honeymoon so special!

Tenuta di Tramonte was perfect. The hotel is a former convent up in the hills, with beautiful views of the valley below. The grounds are immaculate and peaceful, and there’s a path straight down to the village. If you’re looking for something peaceful, choose this hotel. It’s only 15 minutes to Lucca so you can have a city adventure, or you can walk the grounds and village. Our favorite meals were in the village as opposed to Lucca or Pisa, very fun and accessible trattorias. There are a number of palazzos and large parks nearby for relaxed sightseeing, and Lorenzo was a great guide for all of it. Speaking of which, Lorenzo and Laurence were fantastic hosts. Very warm and accommodating. Breakfast is great. Pool is great. Tons of really nice art all over the place. Beds were comfy and bathrooms clean, shower and bath both really nice. Can’t recommend enough.

Nestled in the serene village of Chiatri, Holiday Prato Verde S.R.L. Unipersonale is a delightful guesthouse that serves as an ideal retreat for those looking to explore the beauty of Tuscany. Just a short drive from iconic sites like Pisa's Cathedral and Piazza dei Miracoli, this recently renovated inn features a stunning swimming pool with breathtaking mountain views.
We spent 4 nights at Holiday Prato Verde. Everything was above our expectations. We met Mara on our arrival and had a lovely cup of coffee, got shown to our apartment which was very clean and had a fantastic view of the sea and of the mountains. The breakfast was outstanding, different everyday and options for vegetarians too. The location is perfect for traveling to Pisa, Lucca and Florence. The family is very kind, friendly and helpful. We had boxes to take food we couldn't eat at breakfast for our day trips. The sunset views from the pool are 10/10. I cannot find any faults. Superb views, clean + comfy accommodation, tasty and filling breakfast, peaceful and beautiful location. We will definitely return.

From the warm welcome by Mara and her family to the fabulous apartment the whole experience of staying at Prato Verde was unforgettable. The view from the pool is worth the stay alone! The on-site restaurant served proper Italian home-cooked food and the breakfast was unmissable. Can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be returning.

I stayed in apartment "Gelsamino," it has recently been remodeled (May 22) and is a pleasant airy holiday flat. The kitchenette is well appointed with full-size Stove, Fridge-freezer, Dish Washer etc.The rest of the rooms are set up as a 3/4 star Hotel room. Within the grounds is a Restaurant offering Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner 6 days a week. The property also boasts a infinity Swimming pool with a panoramic view of Lake Massaciuccoli and the North Tuscan coast. Both the Apartment and the Restaurant are very reasonable priced and I recommend them without reservation.

(Translated by Google) Our little getaway in Tuscany – a place to feel good 🌿 We had a wonderful time in this holiday apartment in Tuscany – we felt completely at home from the very first minute. The apartment was incredibly clean, really well-equipped, very bright, and furnished with great attention to detail. The two balconies and terraces were particularly lovely – one of which had a cozy lounge area where we spent many relaxing hours. A small suggestion for improvement: a second screen door would be great, especially for the larger balcony, which is used more frequently. The bed was super comfortable, everything was well-maintained – and exactly as described in the photos. It's one of those apartments where you immediately notice that someone has thought carefully and decorated it with love. The location was ideal for us: quiet and somewhat secluded, but still easily accessible. What we particularly loved: the hostess runs her own restaurant right next door. This meant we were able to enjoy a varied, delicious breakfast every morning – definitely book it, it's worth it! And since we were traveling with a small child, it was a blessing to be able to simply bring dinner back to the apartment – Italian cuisine without compromise. The hostess was super friendly and helpful. Communication was easy via WhatsApp. A particularly nice touch: She recommended an alternative route in advance, which was not only shorter but also much more pleasant. Her tips for excursions in the area were also invaluable – we really enjoyed a visit to Viareggio and the local nature park, among others. Another positive surprise for us: Although there were many families with children there, it was very quiet – perfect for anyone looking for relaxation. At the same time, there were plenty of activities for the little ones, such as a pool, a slide, and a swing. So, truly a place that suits all types of people – couples, families, and those seeking peace and quiet. We're already looking forward to our next stay next year – a truly heartfelt place that we can wholeheartedly recommend. 💛

The service was also very attentive and friendly. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Many terraces were inviting to linger. The pool itself and the accompanying view were truly perfect. The approach to the hotel is a bit tricky, and you should always honk twice before tight bends (switchbacks) to warn oncoming traffic. All in all, we felt very comfortable and this certainly won't be our last time there. Air conditioning works well and there is a refrigerator, but it is small. But what makes this stay truly unique is the friendly atmosphere, the small scale and the super friendly staff who are happy to help you. It is a cozy family atmosphere and the surroundings also make you feel like you are really in Tuscany. The breakfast is fantastic, extensive and different every morning. In addition, the b&b is beautifully landscaped, with the view from the swimming pool as a highlight. The swimming pool is lovely and spacious and has nice beds. In short, highly recommended!

Then since you are the only guest and the home is not like that hot you say before going to bed I'll make myself a hot tea..... You go down to the kitchen and there you'll say where have I ended up! The kettle does not have limescale encrustation, that would be the least of it! It has a dark thing that I can't define so I open the microwave and help that too, it hasn't seen any cleaning in a while! So I look around and discover some vunci stoves, teaspoons and bowls too, two bottles of water opened and partly used (sparkling.....you no longer remember the gas!) Lemons partly old and about to go mouldy... .I go back to the room I go to the bathroom, the extractor fan is covered in dust, the toilet seat inside is dusty, the bidet is dusty, the glass shelf is wobbly, on the wall there are some small blood stains that some guest has left. Disconsolately, I undress, I put my clothes in the wardrobe, I find a vuncia hanger and other laundry hangers (you know the aluminum ones). Disconsolately, I get into bed at least the sheets look clean! But don't move too much or maybe the bed will fall (Ikea Ikea!). Details, certainly details, but I say if you know that there hasn't been any guests for a while and you know that more are coming, what does it cost you to consciously manage these "small" (not for me) things?

(Translated by Google) In a separate old building, in a quiet, peaceful location, with a beautifully maintained garden. This is Villa Orsolini, I highly recommend it. (Original) Egy önálló régi épületben, csendes, nyugodt helyen, szépen gondozott kerttel. Ez a Villa Orsolini, jó szívvel ajánlom.

(Translated by Google) We stayed here for one night while passing through. We received a warm welcome. Everything went smoothly. The rooms are modern and clean. The only thing that bothered us was that all the parking spaces were taken by the restaurant right next door. It depends on what time you arrive. The spaces should only be reserved for the guests of the holiday apartment. Otherwise, a very nice area.
