Italian restaurant
Tuscan restaurant
Trattoria da Giulio is a historic spot in Lucca, offering traditional Tuscan pasta and meat dishes along with daily specials. With almost half a century of history, it has evolved from a small venue to a renowned osteria known for its well-made farinata and rosticciana. The menu celebrates the gastronomic tradition of Lucca, featuring typical soups, filled pasta like tortelli lucchesi al ragu, and an array of meat dishes.
Outstanding food and atmosphere. All the courses were excellent and a nice selection of wines. The Tiramisu is heavenly and the best in Lucca. Highly recommend making a reservation since they are always busy.
Suzanna M — Google review
Heard to check this place out by a local who said the food is cheap, tasty and beautiful scenery as it’s under the wall. We came here with some friends we made at a winery and we were all satisfied! Portions couldn’t bigger, but the flavours were good and it was nice. The service was a bit slow, but that’s ok since it was busy. Nothing to really rave about, but we weren’t disappointed.
Nikki M — Google review
When we came for lunch all the tables on the terrace were taken. So we were offered a table inside, our waitress Sarah was effervescent and happy to serve, and suggested daily specials. The service was very good. The noise was a bit distracting (a few crying babies), but we could still talk (4 🌟 for atmosphere).

Veramente Buono - Really Great Food! Have to say, really good restaurant with depth in flavor. I ordered the Tortelli al Ragu, the Cotoletta Lucca style (with tomatoes and Capperi) and a Creme Brulee. Honestly very impressed by the flavor and quality of the dishes, Complimenti!

This restaurant is packed with people indoors and outside we were there Saturday night (of course). Foods are phenomenal I ordered the veal its quite salty from the green olive but yummy, hubby ordered the cod we loved it. The night dinner closed with Tiramisu thank you for not making it very sweet. Good quality food!!!

This treasure was recommended by a friend who knows Lucca very well. It was a fabulous choice. We were able to request a table outside in this novel setting. Lovely service, delicious food and house wine. Try it!!

We just adore this place: kindness service and so tasty dishes! Atmosphere was like in the dream or in film. Our cod with leeks and ravioli were wonderful. Thank you!

Coffee shop
Caffè Santa Zita is a charming establishment located in Piazza San Frediano, Lucca. The café boasts elegant retro-style interiors and a beautiful garden at the back adorned with lush plants, flowers, and mirrors. It's an ideal spot to start your day with high-quality coffee or cappuccinos made from exquisite single-origin beans. Indulge in delightful pastries like the flower-shaped croissant Giunchiglia or the milk bread sandwich Narciso.
Lovely, stylish cafe with interesting light refreshments menu. We sat outside to enjoy the last autumn sun, but the inside is beautifully decorated and cozy. I had a special coffee with cream and coconut, served in a martini glass (!) and a delicious hummus sandwich, but everything looked delicious. Service was OK, prices above average but totally worth it.
Dan D — Google review
The design and atmosphere of this little caffe is wonderful. Which is what first attracted myself and my other two companions. We were seated in the garden area, on a table that had not been wiped down and still had the spills from previous occupants. We ordered drinks to start with and these were fine. On the small side, compared to what we have encountered so far in Italy. The food? We ordered little tartlets, meatballs, salmon and a selection of 3 cheeses. The food came on a little high tea stand, lovely, it was well presented, the cheeses came on a plate with a tiny fork. The cheeses were supposed to be, pecorino, pecorino with rosemary and pecorino with blue cheese. No small plates were offered to either myself or my companions, no cutlery either. I specifically asked for a knife so that the individual pieces of cheese could be cut to not taint the taste. I asked the waiter to please point out which cheese was the rosemary as it wasn’t apparent by sight. The waiter pointed at a particular serving. Which both myself and my companions tasted and no rosemary could be tasted. The waiter who served us, asked if everything was OK, I advised him no. I advised that no rosemary could be tasted as all three of us love rosemary and this was the only reason we ordered this particular dish., the waiter advised that he would check with the chef. The waiter then came out with more cheese pointing at the rosemary on it, this we could see though could not possible eat any more cheese as we didn’t eat half of what had been provided. The waiter advised us to take it away with us, I advised no, as we do not have capacity to take with us and store it. The waiter took it away. Our experience of this caffe was tainted only by the service. In our experience of all of the restaurants we have visited in Italy on our many trips here, this has far been the worst experience as far as waiters and service go. Never have we encountered an experience like this before anywhere in the world so far. No appropriate cleaning down of the table for new guests. No appropriate cutlery or crockery was delivered or set out. No appropriate explanation of what was on offer and what each dish was. No choice offered when the waiter knew we were not happy. Our experience of this caffe is that whilst the decor is beautifully designed, the staff that served us lowered the standard of the fine establishment. If the service was 5 star like the establishment has marketed itself as in its design then it is worth the prices being charged. Poor service can destroy a reputation of a business over time. Sometimes rapidly. My advice is to avoid this caffe at all costs.
Toni N — Google review
Lovely and classic inside. Especially the internal garden area. Unfortunately, the food is subpar and the service is extremely slow. Been here a couple of times and each time the coffee has come cold and the food has taken very long. I also want to express even when we asked for very hot coffee drinks the second time, the cappuccini still came cold. They seem to be understaffed as someone is always running around. Coffee and food is just ok. Wouldn’t recommend for coffee or food, but perhaps an aperitivo in a cozy spot with a friend or on one of their live music nights.
Greta M — Google review
Caffè Santa Zita is not only beautifully located in the heart of Lucca, but it’s also run by one of the kindest and most professional teams I’ve ever encountered. The staff were welcoming, the service was efficient and warm, and the atmosphere just perfect for a relaxed break. What truly sets them apart, however, goes far beyond great coffee or charming ambiance. I accidentally left my purse at the café and only realized it was missing once I was back in Florence - after having visited multiple places and even cities that day. I wasn’t even sure where to begin searching. As a last hope, I contacted Caffè Santa Zita via WhatsApp… and guess what? They had found my purse! A heartfelt thank you to Michele and the entire staff for keeping it safe and for being so helpful and kind throughout. I couldn’t be more grateful. And what a lovely coincidence that we share the same name - definitely a sign! 😊 Highly recommend this gem of a café - not just for the coffee, but for the people behind it ❤️
Zita L — Google review
5 stars for the place, it looks amazing, but the issue is that the stuff is so annoyed and they all seem mad that they have clients. I haven't seen a single person smiling...
Ronaldina R — Google review
Loved everything about this place! Santa Zita is like an oasis of calmness and style. You only need to enter it to be transported back in time. We had two coffees, one El Salvador specialty and a regular coffee, both very good, as well as two slices of delicious cake.
Viviana M — Google review
This place is a whole experience on itself. I definitely recommend checking it out! They offer a very diverse array of pastry, sandwiches, biscuits, cakes, and lunch dishes. We tried 4 different items and they were all very good! The interior is beautiful and cosy. You can sit on the terrace outside, but also in their little garden in the back. All staff are dressed to impress: they match the vibe of this spot. Be warned however: every 30 seconds they mist the place (this was in July) so your clothing/hair may get damp. A remark regarding the service: There are no translations on the menu card (which is fine) so we tried to look up the different dishes to figure out what they were. The waiter saw us clearly struggling (with our phones and the open menus) yet always quickly came to ask what we wanted while we did not have a clue yet. We felt very rushed: he kept standing there and looking at us expectantly so I just randomly chose. We would have appreciated some patience.
SD — Google review
I would give them 10 stars if possible. The atmosphere is elegant and beautiful. We asked them to choose 2 of their favorite sweet treats we also got 3 sandwiches, the very best cappuccino I have had so far, a Bellini that was made with fresh juice and some sodas for the kids. Everything was stellar and amazing. They also dropped off a tray of snacks. Potato chips, olives and peanuts. We will be back in the morning for another wonderful snack.

Ciclo Divino is a trendy wine bar located near the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro in Lucca. The bar's decor features minimalist metal racks holding bicycles, complementing the stylish yet relaxed atmosphere. It offers affordable prices for a variety of wines served with delicious bruschetta by friendly staff. The small space often spills out onto the pavement, providing an authentic after-work experience in Lucca.
Food and wine was perfect! The woman preparing the food was so kind and explained everything she was making. Highly recommend for an apero or dinner
Mimi — Google review
Almost like an East London cafe in Lucca! Suggested by locals (if not probably will try something looks more “Authentic Italian”) best place to chill with wine and indeed it is. Friendly staff that most importantly, knows and loves wine and can show and suggest some good choices they have. I indeed had a great chat with the owner about wine as a topic and is really quite inspiring. (Yes she speaks good English) Food wise I keep thinking of their Tuna-Fennel bite. It’s really the best demonstration- simple food just great ingredients and that works! What’s more? There’s some board games to keep the children busy, so adults can enjoy a relaxing chat. One of the best in our trip!!

What a fun place to hang out and have a light snack with a tasty drink! The bartender was very kind and helpful, and treated us well even though our Italian is not that good. We started out with an aperol spritz (€5) & a beer (IPA, €6) and a few bruschette at €1 each. Those were very fresh and flavorful, so we ordered a few more as well as a great glass of house white wine—which was also very affordable (€2). This place is a standout for relaxing & enjoying the crowds walk by. We are definitely coming back.

Really enjoyable outside atmosphere. Glasses of house white wine were the cheapest we found in Lucca. The chicchetti were also nice to snack on.

Really lovely bar on a street with nice atmosphere. Service very friendly and helpful with great selection of drinks. Yummy cicchetti were available with interesting toppings at very low cost.

Good service and normal prices which is rare for this part of Lucca. Great find. Went on a Thursday and opened at 3pm, so different to time on Google, but don't know if we were just lucky. They have a few toys for kids to play with and interesting decor for the adults to appreciate.. oh, and toilets, which isn't always a given round here!

Vinarkia Della Pavona is a vintage-glam wine bar and shop that offers a wide selection of Italian wines and zingy cocktails. The cozy interior with heavily beamed ceilings and glossy dark-wood booths creates a welcoming atmosphere, while the outdoor areas are perfect for enjoying drinks in pleasant weather. The owners, Nicola and Rebecca, provide excellent service and are happy to make recommendations.
We quite enjoyed this small but cozy wine bar and restaurant. Small outdoor seating, cozy bar area, a few inside tables, and some garden-like outdoor seating. Friendly staff and several good wine options for under €10 per glass. Also, beer on tap. The food menu is small with only a limited number of options. It get more crowded as it gets later! Of course! We will be back!

Cozy outdoor terrace restaurant with excellent food and local charm A hidden gem in the old town. I had the Eggplant Parmigiana and it was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and perfectly prepared. The recommended red wine from the region paired wonderfully with the dish, and I finished with a refreshing Limoncello. The outdoor terrace was peaceful and inviting; the atmosphere was relaxed. Service was warm and attentive throughout. Price-performance is excellent, especially for such a central location. I would happily come back!

What a great place. The food and cocktails are amazing and affordable, the selection of spirits (tum, Whisky etc) is very impressive! Nice old school / speak easy music in the background is the icing on the cake. The owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. We will be back! Tip: ask for a table in the inside garden, it's beautiful. Go here, you won't regret it!

We absolutely loved this place. We went there almost every evening while in Lucca and we fell in love with the beautiful atmosphere, the romantic garden in the back but most of all with the staff. They made us feel so welcome and we laughed a lot. The cocktails were surprising and delicious, with the Santa Maria and Pomelo Negroni being our favorites. We had the vegetarian board and they were very accommodating to one of us eating vegan. This is a must go when you are in Lucca!
Tessa H — Google review
Great place, great atmosphere and interiors, great and friendly service, delicious food and drinks! I took a vegetarian “tagliere” with a selection of grilled veggies and cheeses, a cauliflower flan and tiramisu as dessert. Everything was superb. I come here every time I’m in Lucca and I’ll keep coming :)
Sara S — Google review
Smallest wine pour ever! I paid 15 euro for less than a 4 oz. pour. I said something and they talked to me like I've never ordered a nice glass of wine! Very demeaning and rude. I was ready to stay for drinking and eating for the evening but I let my feet do my talking. I left without spending another penny. This place was completely disappointing! There are too many amazing places in Lucca to waste my time on a place trying to screw their clientele!
Steve C — Google review
We chose Vinarkia fairly spontaneously, but were so glad we did after two hours of wonderful service and fantastic drinks. The team are both welcoming and informed, so if you're coming to take advantage of their wine credentials you won't be disappointed. We were there for a couple of spritz before dinner, and honestly one you've had a couple here you'll realise the difference with the many others you'll be served around town... these are people who care about the drinks they serve. It's also just a brilliant vibe. Great playlist, and lots of opportunity for people watching. The charcuterie boards looked delicious from a distance as well. Were we not here for only a night, we'd be back straight away.

Cocktail bar
Nestled in the charming northern part of Lucca's old town, Dal Bardo is a delightful cocktail bar that captures the essence of Italian aperitivo culture. With its vintage-tiled counter and rustic brick walls adorned with an impressive array of liqueurs and mixers, this spot invites you to unwind.
This is the best bar in Lucca for before or after dinner. Best place to watch people, talk to some locals. During weekend, make sure you call them and reserve a table. The cocktail menu is yummy… I wish I could drink all of them. The wine selection is excellent too. I tried a bunch of drinks trust me they all are amazing! During my entire 9 days stay in Lucca , I went to this bar every evening… mainly because of the amazing friendly and professional team of the bar… Vittori, Syrah, Michael , Armen and Roberto. They all went above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable.

Dal Bardo in Lucca is an amazing spot to enjoy delicious food and drinks in a vibrant and lively atmosphere. The place is full of energy, with great music and a fun crowd that makes the experience even better. The service is excellent, and the staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring everything runs smoothly. We truly enjoyed our time here the food was flavorful, the drinks were great, and the whole vibe of the place made it one of the highlights of our visit to Lucca. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun night out with great food and good energy!

One of the better bars in Lucca, electric interior and lively terrace. Good cocktails & appetitive drinks with free snacks. Fast and attentive service.

Dal Bardo was one of our favourite bars for aperitivo. Based on the north side of town near our hotel it attracts a lot of locals and has indoor and outdoor seating. Aperol Spritz is always my favourite and at only €4, they were a bargain! The bar also offers complimentary aperitivo. This started off with crisps, nuts, crackers and bread and then out came delicious meat and cheeses! Usually bars will alternate the products through the evening and you can help yourselves. It is polite to always have a drink though!

Pretty ordinary. We were seated at a table, then asked to move as they had accepted a booking of 20+ and wanted our table. The offered table was next to a rubbish bin. We asked to move. Then the group arrived and took over the sidewalk and stood over us at our table (and other people). Very uncomfortable for us and any one trying to use the footpath. Then I had trouble paying as the barman decided it wasn’t his job. Mind you he did serve and take money off a friend whilst I waited. And then he finally decided to step up... pretty pathetic.

Italian restaurant
Buca di Sant'Antonio is a long-standing trattoria located in the historical center of Lucca, Italy. The restaurant offers a cozy and welcoming ambiance with traditional Tuscan rural accents. It is known for serving excellent regional dishes, including mouth-watering meat and daily fresh handmade pasta. The wide wine list complements the authentic Italian cuisine. Visitors can enjoy dining indoors or on the romantic patio during warmer seasons.
Our group (7) didn't make advance reservations because we were going to the Puccini concert (wonderful!) and we weren't sure what we wanted to do after. At the last minute, based on a recommendation from our tour guide, we were able to secure a table for after the concert. We are so lucky. This was an incredible meal that we all enjoyed! I definitely recommend to you.

Wow. We only got to stop here for dessert but the desserts were outstanding. The host has allergies of her own so she was particularly attentive to ours, even catching a mistake by her kitchen where they put a wafer on one of our desserts that had gluten. The desserts were SO. GOOD. It would be a real miss to come to Lucca as a celiac and not eat here.

We had the pleasure of dining here during our one-night stay in Lucca, and it truly became an unforgettable finale to our Tuscany trip. I feel so lucky we made an early reservation, because the entire evening was marvelous from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish we tried exceeded our expectations. The service was warm, attentive, and welcoming, and the ambiance made the night feel special and memorable. My family and I enjoyed every moment, and we couldn’t have asked for a better last night in Tuscany. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Lucca!

Buca di S. Antonio – The Secrets of the Fallen-Star Kitchen! Planning a getaway to Lucca? You're about to make an epic leap from "tourist" to "culinary adventurer"! But be warned, your first mission is to make a mandatory stop at Buca di S. Antonio. And don't think of it as some mouse hole, but a paradise of flavors, where culinary stories come to life! Once there, look for Bianca! She's not just a name, but a local legend, a sort of smiling Michelin guide. I don't advise listening with just one ear, but with both, plus an open heart, because she knows exactly what you want before you even do. Ignore the menu and let yourself be in her hands! I won't tell you what I ate, because that would ruin the surprise! I’ll just say this: it’s a place that once had a Michelin star... and gave it up. It’s like a Hollywood celebrity saying, "No thanks, I want to stay authentic!" It's a brave decision that we respect and savor to the fullest! So, the next time someone talks about stars, don't look at the sky, but at the plate at Buca di S. Antonio!

Location: in a quiet alley Vibe: I was there at dinner on a Sunday good mix between locals and tourists. There many tables with families. Seating: Very few tables outdoors and lots of indoor seating. Not too noisy, as there r many rooms and a couple of floors. There are several private dining rooms. Setting: This has a romantic setting, with many of antiques on the walls. Service: The service was faster than the usual Italian pace. The Staff was reserved, but professional Dress Code: most people are in casual clothes. Food: Food was tasty. We started with the squash soup, then Rabbit Sugo, Seabass w beans and wild hen with potatoes . Their menu offerings had a greater Tuscan slant that, is 7 Antipasti (custards, soups, pate), 8 Primi (Pasta, Risotto, Gnochi), 7 Secondi (Goat, Beef Hen, Lamb). It was really nice they published the allergens contain for each item. There are several items from each category that a Vegetarian could eat. Dessert menu was limited. They could seasonally and when I was there Porcini Mushrooms were in season. Beverages: There is not a “bar” in the classic sense, but they seem to have a fully stock liquor area. They have a separate wine list. We had the local white sparkling wine, Franciacorta, tasted somewhat like Blanc de Blanc.

Wonderful Meal at Buca di Sant’Antonio We stopped by Buca di Sant’Antonio during a day trip to Lucca after it was recommended to us—and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the start, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. The food was outstanding. We started with the beef carpaccio topped with truffle and shaved parmesan, and it was to die for—delicate, rich, and full of flavor. The pasta that followed was just as impressive: fresh, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with care. The chefs even came out to greet some of the guests, which added a really personal touch and showed how much pride they take in their work. This place blends great food with genuine hospitality, and it made for a truly enjoyable lunch. If you’re in Lucca, it’s well worth a visit. As a bonus, we happened to be seated next to a local olive oil producer and had the chance to sample some of their oil from Pisa—which was a really cool and unexpected experience.

Amazing restaurant! Local atmosphere and recommended by the Michelin Guide — that’s how we found it. We had the local Tordelli al sugo pasta and for dessert, tiramisu and gelato di yogurt — everything was excellent!

Buca di Sant’Antonio is an absolute gem in the heart of Lucca—steeped in history, charm, and culinary excellence. The moment you step inside, you’re embraced by the warm, old-world atmosphere that makes you feel as though you’ve been welcomed into a beloved family home. The menu is a celebration of true Tuscan cuisine, with every dish prepared with passion and tradition—just like my Nonna used to make. From the handmade pastas to the perfectly cooked meats and seasonal vegetables, every bite tells a story of heritage and quality. The service is gracious and attentive, making you feel like an honored guest. Paired with an exceptional wine list featuring the best of the region, dining here is a deeply satisfying and memorable experience. Antica Locanda di Sesto is a family-run roadside inn located in the Serchio valley, north of Lucca. With a history dating back almost 650 years, this traditional restaurant offers authentic Tuscan cuisine. The menu features dishes made with locally sourced ingredients including farro, Sorano beans, and produce from the owner's nearby farm. Freshly made pasta, carefully sourced meat, and seasonal vegetables are staples here.
If you’re looking for an upscale traditional Italian restaurant, this place is it. The atmosphere is beautiful, warm and inviting. I had the pumpkin ravioli and the eggplant parmigiana, both were the best I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend making reservations. This was one of my favorite meals of our stay.

In one word—WOW! We stayed in Lucca center and drove 20 minutes to reach the restaurant, set in a beautiful landscape. The restaurant was full of locals, which says a lot. We enjoyed the delicious Bistecca Fiorentina and drank the house wine made by the restaurant owner. The food was perfect, and so was the service. We will definitely come back again!

The best meal during our few days in Lucca’a area. Traditional dishes, well executed, the freshest ingredients and a very nice atmosphere and service.

I guess it's not gourmet, but the bib gourmand is very well deserved. They serve traditional food, but very delicious, almost perfect and with love. The Red Wine by the owner is amazing. The staff is super friendly. The flair is kinda eleganr And the prices are more than fair. If you are anywhere near Lucca this is a must.

We recently lunchedat this charming restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the service, which was both good and exceptionally friendly. The 'senatore capelli' spaghetti, while having a very strong cheese flavor, is definitely for those who appreciate a bold taste. The homemade tordelli was delightful, with a well-balanced flavor that left a lasting impression. A standout dish was the tagliata di manzo, which I highly recommend. It was perfectly seasoned with oil, pepper, and a hint of rosemary, making it a must-try for anyone visiting. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with a few standout dishes that cater to different palates.

Phenomenal dinner the food was great you can taste the love they put into there dishes , staff was great never rushing you helping you with picking out something. And the place made you feel at home. If your in the area you must try.

This was our best meal during our week in Tuscany - exceptional food, excellent value for money for the quality, we found it via the Michelin guide but it feels a step above the usual non-starred entries, with touches such as mixing their carbonara in a wheel of cheese at the table. Also a very good and reasonable wine list - we had a lovely bottle for €22.

Pizzeria da Felice is a century-old, family-run pizzeria located in the charming street of via Buia, just around the corner from the church of San Michele. It's a beloved spot among locals and travelers alike, known for its house-specialty focaccia, crepes, and an array of pizzas available for take-out or by the slice. The pizzeria has mastered the art of pizza-making and has become a staple in the community.
Great super thin crust pizza. All with the same margherita base but with option to add salami, salami picante, etc. got the salami picante and loved it. They cut a chunk of pizza for you and weigh it to determine cost. Great option for quick meal or snack.

Great crust, any topping you like. Terrific pizza. We had it our first day in Lucca and never again found it's equal. Be warned, ordering a piece of pizza gets you a plateful of delicious slices.

Nice and simple pizzas. Had a whole margherita and a salami mozzarella focaccia for a total of 15.5euros. She politely asked that they prefer cash, unfortunately I didn't have any so paid with card. No idea if I got charged extra or not though.

Delicious, quick lunch at an excellent price (15 euro for two of us, including sodas!) Loved that you could add any toppings to the focaccia and the pizza, and the cechina was great too. Staff very helpful.

Another wonderful experience at this fabulous restaurant in Lucca! We had a gathering here the night before our wedding in 2017 and it was so perfect we had to come back and visit again. We had a beautiful meal on the outdoor terrace as the sun set and the evening light is stunning. It was wonderful to see the lovely Simona again, which made our evening even more special. ❤️

A random choice as I wrapped up visiting the botanical garden and was hungry. Noticed the lovely spot as I was walking along the wall and decided to give it a try. I ordered 2 antipasti items for my lunch and they were both incredible! The roasted heirloom carrots with fresh herbs and cream sauce was insanely good. Top notch. And the fried pecorino with pear, honey and cinnamon coulis was decadent yet not heavy. Wish I was visiting Lucca longer as I would love to return for dinner!

We had drinks and wanted to have lunch but the lady staff is not that welcome us to order food except pizza with funny reasons. Then when our drinks were served, the man waiter spilled my drink on the table and knocked our chips bowl so hard until the chip fell out with little expression of ‘sorry’ and not even bother to pick up that chip!!! Not recommended this place at all. Pity that its such a nice setting.

We came in hoping to enjoy a few drinks and a good time. While we were promptly seated, the staff then completely ignored us for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, tables that arrived after us received immediate attention. It genuinely felt like if you're American, you're welcome, but if you're European, you're invisible. Another example of a beautiful Italian location with very poor staff and service. Very disappointing. We won’t be coming back.

Quirky decor, good food and friendly service made this a very nice meal for a couple of travellers from abroad! While our meal took longer than we are used to (but after a week in Italy, we realised this is just the way things are!), it was delicious, and our servers kindly split our choices of dish into 2 plates, which we very much appreciated. We absolutely loved the place. It was our first evening in Tuscany, which we started exploring with Lucca. And we craved for such food! So modern, yummy and Italian. Menu was not available in English, so the waitress translated literally EVERY dish name for us! It was very nice of her. The focaccia was the best we ever tried! Soft and salty! Suitable for vegetarians - I enjoyed both my starter and the main dish (pasta). Thank you for creating such a great restaurant! Good luck.

Da Rosolo is a charming osteria located in Lucca, known for its warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant offers a delectable selection of traditional Tuscan dishes, with standout options such as pasta carbonara, wild boar stew, and lasagna. Additionally, the seafood offerings are particularly noteworthy, featuring grilled fish and seafood pasta that consistently impress patrons. Guests can also indulge in classic Tuscan fare like farinata di ceci, a renowned local specialty.
The food here is really really good. I got the lasagna and it's one of the best I've ever had. It is a dish I would very much so recommend it to anyone reading this review. You also get complimentary bread and olive oil which is nice! The staff are absolutely lovely. I really really cannot thank them enough. After I finished my dinner, out of nowhere, I suddenly fell ill. I had been feeling under the weather before I came, and it all just hit me at once. Anyways, they made sure that I got to a toilet ok so I could clean myself up and before I left, made sure that I felt a better before I headed back to my hotel. I cannot thank them enough for making what was a really embarrassing, scary time for me less scary and less embarrassing. They're genuinely good people with hearts of gold, who care about you as a customer and as a person, and want you to have the best dining experience at their restaurant, and most importantly - they're human. As everything happened so quickly, I unfortunately was unable to tip. The very least I can do now is sing their praises, leave a glowing review and very strongly recommend you give these guys business! It'll be the best meal you have in Lucca! :)

Oh my gosh. The food was divine. All courses. Hand made pasta. Fantastic tastes. Great wine. And oh my god the Panna Cotta with the pistachio sauce. This is the best Panna Cotta we have ever had. Very attentive, very charming and helpful with selection. 11/10 place

What an absolute gem. We came across this restaurant by chance while looking for shelter from the rain during lunch time. Staff was very friendly and helpful and we were served almost immediately. The range of pasta dishes was excellent and especially the wild boar ragu was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return one day when we’re in Lucca again.

We came here before a concert without a reservation — and as you can imagine, the city was absolutely packed. Our chances of scoring a coveted terrace table seemed pretty low. While we waited in line, we watched in awe as beautifully prepared dishes were brought out to tables, each one delivered with genuine care by the waitstaff. Within 10 minutes, it became clear that this was a true family-run restaurant — you could feel it in the seamless teamwork, the joyful energy, and the playful jokes exchanged between the staff. There was something special in the air. Finally, we were seated — and every dish, every glass of wine recommended by the knowledgeable and warm-hearted waitress, was a masterpiece. We’ve been traveling around Italy for a few weeks, but this carbonara (and I consider myself a true fan!) absolutely blew me away. A true work of art! It’s hard to fully express the joy and appreciation we feel for this cozy, family-run gem. Thank you for your hard work, your warmth, and the unforgettable experience you gave us. With love from St. Petersburg and Berlin ❤️

Our group of 6 enjoyed a lovely evening at Osteria Baralla last night to celebrate a birthday. We were welcomed by the friendly Jonathan who was an excellent host. All the food was great, with the highlight being the bistecca florentine steak which was fabulous. Walked past this place when visiting Lucca and it looked nice. They reserved a table for us outside to eat there that same evening. The staff were friendly, the prices were reasonable and the food arrived in good time. It tasted very fresh and it was very enjoyable. I would eat here again if I go back to Lucca.

Really nice place well located in Lucca, we chose it as we wanted something different than pizza and pasta and it had some good options. We ended up having the beef with polenta and the rabbit stew. The food came really quick (5-10 mins) and it was really tasty. Prices were normal (under 20€ for one meal). The tiramisu was also good and the staff is friendly. I would recommend.
Antonio S — Google review
Fantastic place, the staff squeezed us in even though they were extremely busy with a large group booking and looked after us well. The food was fantastic, fresh and authentic dishes which tasted excellent. The tiramisu was quite possibly the best I've ever had and the traditional filled pasta had such a rich flavour and texture.

Amazing wee restaurant. Well priced for big portions - I got a massive plate of beef carpaccio to start, and the beef stew was really good. Well worth a visit.
Andrew M — Google review
Maybe they were having an off night. The general atmosphere was chaotic – it was not warm or relaxed. We were first greeted by a grumpy and curt old dude (the owner?) with no smile or charm when we walked into the restaurant. That was the first sign that we should have left and found another place for dinner. Our waitress was totally disinterested. She interacted with us robotically as if it were her last night working there. There seemed to be no communication between the wait staff and the kitchen/prep. The old dude occasionally yelled at them both. People at other tables were served their entrées one at a time and many minutes apart versus all being served at the same time. The food was unremarkable. Do yourself a favor and walk on by this place and find a more joyful and pleasant place for dinner. We were there in mid-September 2025

Just steps from Via Fillungo, Trattoria Da Leo offers a genuine Tuscan experience with traditional dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. Open year-round and family-run since 1946 or 1949 (?) the trattoria is known for its home-style cooking, including classics like Zuppa di Farro and Tortelli Casalinghi. Friendly staff, fair prices, and a warm setting make it a great spot to enjoy local cuisine in the center of Lucca. The food was great, but could have been a bit warmer.

If the clientelle are local and range from young families to elderly couples, you know you are eating in a well loved restaurant. This was the case when we ate at the da Leo . Reminded me of the family run Les Routies of France. Good tasty regional food , well prepared, and generous portions . We were not disappointed. The entree was a mixture of hams, cheese, and olives .Fresh and ample for 2 people. This was followed by spinach Ravioli with a beautiful homemade pumpkin sauce. My wife chose the pasta with rabbit and olives, again made from fresh ingredients and certainly meaty. Had ordered the ribs and potatoes after seeing the neighbouring tables meal, but at this point, I was full so the waiter kindly cancelled the order. A tiramisu was the crowning glory to the meal. My wife commented that it was the best she had eaten all week We had the house red and white, which again was most acceptable . The waiter spoke perfect English, and the menu came in both languages, which helped the tourist who were there that evening. Go there or you will miss the chance to eat like a Tuscan does.

We went for dinner as a group of 7 people and had a great time at this traditional Tuscan restaurant 🌿. With a super reasonable price of around €20 per person 💶, we’re giving it a solid 8.5/10 ⭐️. Highly Recommended: Focaccia 🫓: Absolutely amazing! Crunchy, flavorful, and freshly baked. We loved it so much that we asked for more even after the waiter had already taken the full order… and he kindly brought it anyway! Tortelli al Ragù 🍝: pasta with a rich, savory ragù — truly authentic, Tuscan-style comfort food. Tiramisù 🍰: Creamy, well-balanced, with a generous touch of coffee and cocoa. The perfect sweet ending. The waiter was super kind and patient 🧑‍🍳, even though we definitely made his job harder with our extra focaccia requests! The place has a warm and cozy rustic vibe — very much in line with the region’s charm 🏡. A great choice if you're visiting Lucca: tasty traditional food, kind service, and honest pricing. A perfect spot to enjoy Tuscan dishes without breaking the bank. We’d absolutely go back! 🍷🍝

My family and I adored this little find. We were right at the witching hour (230pm) when we asked if the kitchen was open (after three knock backs) and they were more than welcoming. There is a small outdoor terrace but we ate inside. Classically italian / european interior - tasteful with nothing over the tip. We had a two antipasti (local salumi) and the ceccina and baccala. Then the roasted tuscan chicken and tagliatelle with porcini. My sone had a plate of perfectly cooked spaghetti in ragu (he loved it). Some local red wine and prosecco to start. More than perfect service and All for 100 euros.

One of the highlights is the hearty Ribollita soup, packed with seasonal vegetables, beans, and day-old bread.
We have eaten here before, and both times, the food was amazing. The staff are very friendly and, by Lucca standards, the prices are reaso able. It's a bit hidden away down a narrow street, but once inside the gate there is a beautiful and quiet courtyard.

The outdoor space is beautiful. We sat indoors with the AC and were happy for it. The decor is a bit hodge lodge, and I wouldn’t recommend the place based on the inside ambience- BUT- who cares? It was a good temperature, not too noisy, and both the service and the food were great. I would recommend any go. And great value for the money. My family of four loved everything we got (except the house red wine- next time, we’ll just buy a bottle). The mixed antipasti- so good! The stuffed pasta in a ragu- we had to order a second- the simple grilled steak- tender and flavourful. The contient- spinach and potatoes- yep, perfect. The chicken? Exceeded our expectations. We were too full for dessert but I bet they’re all authentic and tasty and not too heavy, either. (Oh, one last thing, the olive oil they brought to the table was also very good quality and so tasty)

Absolutely amazing service, such kind and lovely staff and 10/10 food 🤩 best pasta and risotto in Lucca😍 and the melon and prosciutto was amazing!! thank you for the amazing dinner and lovely calm atmosphere after a stressful evening trying to find somewhere to eat 💛

Nicely decorated restaurant, friendly service from all the staff, although we were the only 'tourists' there. Thanks for making us feel welcome. Pasta & Risotto were good , the children's 'tourist' option lacked some sauce or salt, but this was taken care off. Would go back a,next time !

We had a delicious dinner in this cozy restaurant. We were able to lay a good “fongsje” here. The tasty house wine flowed freely — the perfect starting shot for a “droenke avond"

Our solid go-to choice for Tuscan cuisine in a friendly, family-run corner of Lucca. Always welcoming and consistently-prepared cuisine. I've tried nearly all the menu and you can't go wrong. We patronize the osteria weekly when we're here.

Great food; good service! Pictured: Roasted veggies for appetizer; Risotto with asparagus and egg - was unique - utterly delicious; and Seafood spaghetti was tasty!! Staff was a little...snobbish...at the beginning, but then seem to warm up as the meal went on....but not enough for us to order desserts!

Ristorante Giglio is a renowned dining spot in Lucca, Italy, offering refined Italian tasting menus and an extensive wine selection. Originally established as a traditional farmers restaurant in 1979, it has evolved into a representation of haute contemporary cuisine, earning a Michelin star in 2019. The restaurant exudes a cozy and elegant atmosphere with distinctive service, providing an exceptional gastronomic experience.
Old review from last year. This experience was top-notch from start to finish. A true 5 star tasting menu with excellent service and great wine. The sommelier was very helpful. The location is beautiful with a nice outdoor seating section right in the square. I could not recommend this spot enough if you plan on being in Lucca.

Heated rumors of a great tasting menu. Read their philosophy about menus and made a reservation the next day! Loved it. Paired wines worked perfectly. Portions were perfect so that you were satisfied it not over full. Flavors and combinations were creative and evoked memories. A perfect sensory experience. Service was friendly and professional. Don’t hesitate. Come enjoy the creativity

Great food! One of the better places to get pasta. The tiramisu was phenomenal too. Friendly service.
Anisa — Google review
Let me start by saying that the food is so amazing that I had to give it 5 stars in total - BUT the service here is below subpar for a restaurant that prides itself on the michelin star it used to have. The service is probably a big reason why it doesn't have that star anymore. The waiters seemed to be very busy and some staff members were straight up lying. Small things like forgetting to remove the bread crumbs from our table, a glass that was broken on the rim where you put your lips and forgetting to come back to explain the food we just got. The part that made it very bad was in particular one waiter who came with the food and just said "enjoy" without explaining what food was, twice. The first time he did it, I asked him what dessert we just got - he said "it's ice cream". I asked him what kind and he said "vanilla ice cream with strawberry on top". We tasted it and didn't taste like that at all. I asked another waiter what dessert we got and it turned out it wasn't a dessert at all, but a pallet cleanser - a type of ice cream that was smoked on wood with olive oil etc. which gives it a sense of cheese mouthfeel. Either way - the first waiter had no idea and decided to just explain what the dish looked like instead of saying "I don't know but I'll find a waiter who does" or something like that. My wife was pregnant and so her food was well done - that waiter could have probably mixed up the dishes which could have been bad. Either way... The taste and creativity makes up for it. But as I said, if they want their michelin star back they need to fix the waiter situation first.

I recently dined here, a small and charming restaurant that had some great dishes, as well as a few that were not as enjoyable. The service was friendly, although somewhat inconsistent. The wine menu was interesting. Based in my experience, I would recommend ordering a la carte rather than opting for the tasting menu. Of the dishes I tried, the trottole with rabbit offal ragout, sweetbreads with carrots and ginger, and the smoked eel with beetroot and sour cream were all excellent. The sole with black truffle and Champagne was favorite. If you do decide to try the tasting menu, I would recommend keeping an open mind and being adventurous. The sweetbreads were a surprising and delightful dish, with interesting flavors and a very tender texture. However, I found the lamb and artichoke to be disappointing, as the meat was quite gamey and the artichoke had a strong liver flavor. The timing between courses was also quite slow, especially toward the end of your meal.

The food is delicious. During our stay in Lucca we dined here twice for dinner as once is not enough for me. The interior is really cool like a pirate treasure then used as decoration. The house wine tastes good too. The ambiance and staff is so friendly. Thank you!

Unique dining experience in the heart of Lucca. This was one of the 3 places ChatGPT recommended we pick for lunch on our day trip to Lucca from Florence. Amazing find! Decor - interesting, to say the least. Let me just say there’s a lot to look around and absorb. Service - incredible. Food - amazing. Several unique dishes that we have not tasted before - across all 20 days or so around Italy over the last two trips. Go with the recommendations, the menu is difficult to read but the suggestions are spot on. Don’t skip desserts - specially the complex ice cream / peach filling / sponge cake on top, and the one they referred to as Ferraro Rocher but is immensely more flavorful.

Wonderful unique Trattoria with a wonderful waiter. Unfortunately we had eaten before we went there, but the atmosphere is brilliant. Definitely will be back.

Place was very crowded as its quite popular specially for its weird decoration probably. Didn't book a place but got quickly a table for one. Place is very loud and small and full of phallus decoration as this is the gimmick of the place. Didn't like my food much, ordered polenta with fried pork. Desert i chose biscuits with vin santo. Recommended for couple of friends to have fun, drink. It wasn't good choice for me sadly. But service is fast and very attentive.

Nestled in the vibrant Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, Ristorante Trattoria L' Angolo Tondo is a must-visit for anyone exploring Lucca. This charming eatery beautifully marries traditional Tuscan flavors with modern culinary flair, all while using high-quality local ingredients. The cozy dining room, adorned with eclectic decor reminiscent of Nonna's 70s style, offers an inviting atmosphere that feels both homey and elegant.
We were looking for lunch whilst exploring the city and this stood out among other restaurants at the piazza. We had the 5-course tasting menu for lunch, where the chef selected dishes from the à la carte menu. The staff carefully asked about our allergies and intolerances beforehand to ensure everything was suitable, and each dish was thoughtfully explained when served. The chef, originally from Lucca, has experience working in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris before returning here — and it shows. Every dish was perfectly balanced and beautifully executed, completely in tune with our palate. The entire experience was lovely from start to finish and most of all, reasonably priced.
Waiming W — Google review
Lovely location looking into the piazza. Excellent service from our waiter and his support team. Excellent wine list with a great recommendation from our waiter - a local red that was smooth and very fruit forward - Valle Bula from Fattoria Sardi. We started with the appetizer Tartare di Manzo - it was outstanding, If not the best I've ever had! All of the meals were excellent but my Maiale Grigio was the stand out of the day! We didn't get to dessert as we were full and had a train to catch. Definitely recommend!

I wanted to have rabbit, but the restaurants inside the ZTL that served it either were closed that day or required reservation. So, I walked 1 km to this restaurant outside the ZTL. Food was good. Being residents of Lucca, we can say that without a doubt this is an amazing upper end restaurant and do not expect pizza. The service, quality of cuisine and price ratio are excellent. outstanding food, good vegetarian options, excellent curated wine list. visited May 2025. my beef diaphragm was excellent; marinated for hours, it was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. the pasta dishes were freshly made and also high quality. our table had a view of "the pass" and it was nice to watch the chef inspect the meals prior to departing the kitchen, lots of attention to detail. the staff are multi-lingual with at least italian, english and german spoken very well; reservations are highly suggested. It was very very good! Service & Food is amazing! The staff is very very friendly ♥️ The only thing is: they need definitely some airfans because it’s not possible to dine outside and the building the seating area is next to, is reflecting all the heat it absorbed the whole day.

We found this place by accident, and it turned out to be the perfect final meal in Tuscany. The staff is wonderfully attentive, and the restaurant has such a welcoming atmosphere. We shared a beef tartare as a starter, followed by octopus and tagliata for our main, and everything was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic, cozy restaurant rather than a tourist trap.

We waited a long time to try this restaurant and it didn't live up to expectations. We ordered the scallop and steak florentine; they told us it was plenty of food but we left hungry. The scallop appetizer was small and uninspired. The steak was tasty and fresh. The wine from Montecarlo was good. The sides weren't great; the salad had no sauce and was just hard bits of the lettuce, and the stir-fried veggies were unimpressive. (They also brought us the salad when we didn't order it.) The service was subpar; they didn't seem to want to serve us and we waited over an hour for the food.

What an incredible hidden gem! Don’t hesitate for a moment, book a table and indulge in the degustation menu. Every course was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Each dish left us wanting more. The service was impeccable! Warm, attentive, and effortlessly accommodating. It was my husband’s birthday, and without missing a beat, they brought out a candle to make the moment extra special. An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. We’ll absolutely be back!
Katerina C — Google review
It had to be one of our best meals this year during our travels (from Rome, Orvieto, Siena, Lucca to Cinque Terre). Tucked just off the touristy paths, near the old city walls of Lucca, Miranda came highly recommended by our wonderful host at Il Pozzo di Santa Zita—and what a recommendation it was! By the way, this apartment is also highly recommended as a place to stay (thanks Rebecca!) We booked a table for the evening and were seated outside, overlooking the greenery surrounding the historic walls. The setting was serene, and the food… unforgettable. As starters, the watermelon caprese with buffalo mozzarella was divine, but the real showstopper was the stuffed fried anchovies topped with passion fruit granita—so good we immediately ordered it again. (Yes, twice. No regrets.) For mains, we shared young pigeon with a rich brown sauce, ossobuco fettuccine with a creamy green bean-speckled sauce, and for our son, the giant prawn with linguine—each dish beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. (Apologies if I’ve misnamed the pastas—we’re enthusiastic non-Italians who happily mix them up!) The little amuse-bouches between courses kept our taste buds intrigued, and desserts were a must: the classic tiramisù plus another creation so good I can’t even describe it properly—just trust me on this one. Coming from Bali, Indonesia, where our palates are used to spice and our hearts to warm, genuine hospitality—we found both here at Miranda. The service was attentive yet unpretentious, giving the whole evening the least touristy, most genuine feel we experienced in Lucca. While we already love Lucca for its greenery, charm, and friendliness, Miranda gave us yet another reason to return.
LAAL — Google review
Superb. During a month in Italy this is one of our favorite restaurants. Try the stuffed anchovies with sorbet, even if you don’t think you like anchovies. In fact, eat everything you can because the restaurant is right next to the walkable wall that surrounds the medieval city - you can walk it off. The gnocchi is delicate and delightful, we accompanied ours with a bottle of Ca’ Bianca Nebbiolo from Langhe region which was medium bodied and perfect. The sweetbreads as a main were wonderful as well. The service team couldn’t be any better - special shout out to Caterina. :-)

I had the most delicious dinner in such a cozy and elegant space! I recommend the tasting menu (I got the meat one, they also had a vegetarian option) that takes you into a sophisticated journey through Tuscan dishes! All truly exquisite. Wine selection is also top. And, finally, what a careful and kind service through out from the chef himself and his team. Bravo!

Our meal at Miranda was absolutely phenomenal and maybe the best over our 3 weeks across Tuscany. I don't understand how this place isn't rated higher. We did a la carte menu and it was incredible. All around the best meal I've had in Italy! I'm not exaggerating: The freshness of the ingredients comes thru in the bread, drinks and main dishes. 10/10, would recommend!! We were staying just outside the city walls, and saw the great reviews. In a town of tourists, it's charm is that it ISNT touristy. We arrived early (1900) w a toddler and sat outside in the shade. The restaurant was not busy and the service was impeccable. The menu isn't expansive, but every dish is one of kind, made on the spot and the chef only uses fresh ingredients.

This cozy, warm and welcoming restaurant is worth the wait. The staff were super nice, attentive, and know how to prepare food. I wanted some comfort food, and that's exactly what I received. The burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly, served with a small side salad, and potatoes. The burger bun was soft and light and had cheese, onions, and tomato. The salad was dressed with a light oil and came with tomatoes and carrot shavings. The fries were delicious and not oily or heavy. All the menu items were reasonably priced. A very satisfying dinner, comfortable atmosphere, and delicious food -- the perfect ending to a day of travel and the beginning of our stay in Lucca.

Burro&Alici offers a delightful experience with its great selection of classic and modern Italian and French wines. The tapas-style menu features an array of Southern Italian dishes, particularly seafood-based options. The outdoor seating is charming, and the friendly staff provides excellent service. Guests can enjoy delicious dishes such as anchovies and butter, foie gras, tartare, and more at reasonable prices.
Tasty, contemporary and creative food, great selection of champagne and natural wines and TOP staff. We had a great time in this restaurant!

Great super small spot with a lot of natural wines and good recommendations. Lots of seating outside too. Super friendly owners if you are into good wine and a good friendly atmosphere you should go.
Lindsay S — Google review
Really cute seafood tapas place. Food was fantastic. House wine was so-so. Perhaps a little expensive if you are hungry as the tapas are not big meals. However, the food was next level, so completely worth it! Many types of anchovies and sardines and regular daily specials menu. Kitchen closes late as well. Would definitely go back!!!

The girl with me chose this place that doesn't impress me so much; in my opinion it miss of personality. The waitress was nice, kind and efficient. The food was really good with high quality of the ingredients; we really loved "crocchette di Alici" that were gorgeous, something that deserve to be eaten. Anyway the price was too high and the portions were small.

I liked the place with good innovative mix of sardines, anchovies and good wine. We got here a Lansonico as orange wine. I liked the atmosphere and I enjoyed the moment. An opportunity also for good shots for Leica lovers😍
Pier F — Google review
Great outdoor seating next to the wall. Fantastic „tapas style“ menu. Anchovies and butter, foies Gras, tartare and many more. Food was excellent and on a very high level, reasonably priced and portion was not too small. I went for the wine recommendations from the waitress and was not disappointed. Got a nice orange white wine and fruity red wine to my dishes. VERY friendly staff, who really try their best to make you feel appreciated and welcome. Also explained the menu to me and took their time to recommend a wine. Would certainly come back if in Lucca again!

Fantastic wine list (both classical-style and modern Italian & French wines), scrumptious snacks, and hospitality that makes you feel like you belong. Casual atmosphere and professional wine advice; would definitely recommend for a quick bite to eat or a long lounging session to finish the day :)

Gigliola, the vibrant sibling of Il Giglio in Lucca, is a delightful destination for those seeking a unique dining experience. This lively spot boasts an eclectic menu inspired by global cuisines and features an open bakery that showcases its impressive offerings. With a fun atmosphere enhanced by curated music and frequent events, Gigliola is perfect for casual dinners or aperitivo with friends.
One of my favourite restaurants in Lucca! Love the tapas sharing concept and the food is delicious. You pay for the quality. Would recommend booking.

A cozy place with a great food and attentive service, I really enjoyed my dinner, highly recommended! Be aware that while they have few Italian cuisine-inspired plates, most of the dishes are inspired by Middle East, Asia, South America. Few notes/preferences: - I missed in the menu some fresh, green veggie plates. I was looking for some plate to balance out other dishes we chose (carbs) and I couldn’t find any options. - Torta Della Nona was great, but please serve with a knife! The bottom was pretty hard and not possible to cut by fork : D knife is a must!

I had a wonderful dining experience at Gigliola in Lucca. The food was absolutely outstanding, from the fresh ingredients to the creative and flavorful dishes. The wine was also excellent, with a fantastic selection that perfectly complemented the meal. What truly made the evening special, though, was the service. The staff was incredibly attentive and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Gigliola is a must-visit for anyone in Lucca looking for a memorable meal with top-notch service. I can't wait to go back!

Nestled away from the bustling center of Lucca, Pergola is a beloved local eatery that truly captures the essence of Italian dining. Open only for lunch, this charming trattoria offers an enticing menu del giorno at an unbeatable price—just 10 euros per person! Diners can indulge in a delightful primo course, such as pasta or soup, followed by a hearty secondi like their renowned braised pork or boiled beef dishes.
This is a small place filled with locals and it is a must try! The food was wonderful. The menu is new everyday and had written. The prices were some of the lowest we paid our entire stay.

Delicious and authentic local spot with incredible value. €10 for primi, secondi and side with water and coffee. I had their Maccheroni al ragu, Stinco (pork shank) and beans. Obviously a local untouristy spot with the handwritten menus but easy enough to work out and definitely worth a visit

TOP place to have brunch in Lucca 😍😍😍 really love the choices and the quality of their food… & they have fresh juices 😍😍😍I recommend this place to everyone i know so far.. the place is super cozy & comfy.. it has a homey feeling while elegant at the same time… This place is famous for lunch.. so do reservation especially for lunch time especially after 12 pm. We ordered : - egg Benedict with bacon - scrambled egg with bacon - pancake with berries and maple syrup - antioxidant juice - coffee - cappuccino - caffè latte
Sarah E — Google review
The place is really beautiful and cozy, there are books and board games, the menu is pretty interesting, food and coffee tasty. However, I found the pricing a bit weird. After we took a place and got ready to order, we found out that there are 2 types of coffee - veloce (fast) and relax, and both types are basically the same, the difference (x2 in price!) is about where do you sit or how fast you drink (it was not really clear). Even though we had to pay two times more for the coffee, we also still had to pay for service. When it comes for service - firstly I got cappuccino instead of double espresso, then they forgot about the cinnamon - not a big issue, but for this price I’d expect something really perfect and relaxing. I appreciate a bowl of water for my dog, however the bowl was pretty dirty, would be nice to get a clean one without something floating in it. Also, a waiter made a sharp movement towards my dog so that my dog got irritated - I’m pretty sure he did it for a reason, looked like he wanted to annoy the dog and laugh. Not funny at all. I understand maybe he didn’t mean anything bad, but why do you have to make another creature to feel bad and anxious, why do you have to cause bad emotions for someone? And if you have to - please use someone else for it, not my dog. Overall, probably it’s still a nice place to relax and have a drink and some food. Maybe I just didn’t have the best experience. Despite everything, the service was friendly. I’d advice to make pricing more clear to avoid confusion.

Nestled among the charming old stone and brick structures of Piazza del Salvatore, Enoteca Vanni is not just a wine shop; it’s an immersive experience for any wine enthusiast. As you step inside this quaint establishment, you'll be greeted by dark wood shelves brimming with bottles from every corner of Italy.
Wow. Wow! Don’t miss this place. Truly an enoteca, with only light bites more than a large menu, but a wildly cool wine and global spirits cellar downstairs. Their attached wine shop has a cavernous downstairs, with some comfortable seating, a place for wine tastings (that require booking far in advance during busy season!), and an astounding collection. Don’t miss! We sat down for aperitif at 5pm, but there was quickly a waiting line by 6pm.

Stumbled across this place and am so happy we sat down. I wanted a good steak tartare this strip and they had an excellent one on the menu. Next to the wine store they have a small restaurant. They serve great wines by the glass or you can choose a bottle in the wine store and drink it on the terrace. I’ve been coming to Lucca for several summers and have tried most of the top restaurants in the area. This one clearly stands out as the best lunch spot between the coast and Florence Cathedral. It’s affordable, welcoming, and the food is absolutely fantastic. Be sure to reserve a table—and enjoy!

A local shop keeper recommended this restaurant to us and said it was not a touristy place so we were super excited. The staff’s English was minimal too which made us feel we found the “local” gem until we saw a big sign in English informing everyone they ship wine around the world 😂 Regardless, food was solid, nothing exceptional for Italy and the service was unfortunately not great.

The owner is knowledgeable and will certainly know how to make the most of his place (as I understand it has been open for about 1 year) (Original) Il vicolo strettissimo in cui si trova il locale è veramente carino. (Translated by Google) Together with my partner, we stumbled upon this place by chance, on a weather warning day, which unfortunately was empty. Despite the skepticism, the first impact appears to be positive, beautiful furnishings, youthful and fresh. The waiter, kind and helpful, takes the reservation immediately. What strikes me first and foremost is the bread, a good variety and all fresh and cut in the room. Ah, they make the focaccia, and it's excellent. We order a really good sea bass tartare, a phenomenal cod with potatoes and chives and a not bad tuna steak with sesame and pea cream. To drink we take a good bottle of Greco di tuff. At the end of dinner, the waiter brings us a chocolate mousse and a yoghurt mousse, at first we are disappointed, because it seems like everything except a mousse, but the dessert, even if it wasn't a real mousse, was really good. We will definitely come back to visit you. We had a good time and ate very well. Compliments. Sicuramente torneremo a trovarvi. Ci siamo trovati bene ed abbiamo mangiato benissimo. Complimenti.

Regardless of the fact that they were very kind and didn't make us feel bad about the absence of two couples and therefore being 4 fewer than we had booked (about 20 people), then the menu (fixed given the particular day) was really all excellent, starting from the starters, through the first courses, the wine, the second course and the dessert, one of the best profiteroles I have ever eaten. Young and brilliant staff, very helpful. Even the music that accompanied the evening until almost 3 in the morning! We had a great time and spent a more than honest amount, given the event.

(Translated by Google) Traditional Tuscan food, very tasty. Excellent selection of wines and quality extra virgin olive oil. The service was fast, very courteous and also friendly, considering that being in Lucca for work, I was traveling alone. Also open on Mondays! And this is a big plus, especially in the low season. (Original) Cibo tradizionale toscano, molto gustoso. Ottima selezione di vini e olio evo di qualità. Il servizio é stato celere, molto cortese e anche di compagnia, considerando che essendo a Lucca per lavoro, viaggiavo solo. Aperto anche il lunedì!
