The most wonderful bakery in Lucca. We were trilled to stay in Lucca for over three weeks. The experience of engaging with locals, which shopping for basics was incredible. This bakery was one of our favourite go to places. The breads were incredible, atmosphere, service and the help from the counter staff was second to none. Even with my basic Italian those guys assisted and encouraged me in in every way. It was always a pleasure to do my morning walk to this store. Thank you all

Must visit if you are in Lucca. This place was incredible! We had wonderful brioche alla crema, their famous buccelato, and great cappuccini. They have so much food to offer! We could have sat all day devouring all the treats. The food we had was incredible, the parma ham tasting unlike any other we tried during our trip. Just so much tastier than other places. The prices are very reasonable and to top it all off, you can sit by the square watching the world go by. Will certainly return when we come again.

Buccellato Taddeucci in Lucca is a beautiful, small café, very stylishly decorated and located right in the historic city center. The prices are fair, which makes enjoying the delicious specialties even more pleasant. During our visit, the cathedral was being renovated, which made the stay a bit noisier – however, this was no criticism of the café itself, just bad timing. I felt very comfortable, and when I am next in Lucca, I will definitely stop by again.

Even if the pastries were not delicious - and obviously they are VERY VERY good - one must visit here just to meet the wonderful server Francesca!! Oh my, what a sweetheart. And what a hard worker. And what an amazing person that can wait on many many tables, running in and out of the cafe, but still SMILE and be nice!! What a treat!! Oh and what a treat all three of our choices were!! We had a pistachio muffin, a sage & pistachio tart and a mini cheesecake!! Plus the dessert wine - Vin Santo or ‘Holy Wine’ and Francesca made me an iced coffee that was so pretty it looked like a dessert itself! All was super YUMMY!!! Bottom line...you will not be disappointed in anything about this place. Good desserts, good drinks and a good...I mean GREAT human being! The design and atmosphere of this little caffe is wonderful. Which is what first attracted myself and my other two companions. We were seated in the garden area, on a table that had not been wiped down and still had the spills from previous occupants. We ordered drinks to start with and these were fine. On the small side, compared to what we have encountered so far in Italy. The food? We ordered little tartlets, meatballs, salmon and a selection of 3 cheeses. The food came on a little high tea stand, lovely, it was well presented, the cheeses came on a plate with a tiny fork. The cheeses were supposed to be, pecorino, pecorino with rosemary and pecorino with blue cheese. No small plates were offered to either myself or my companions, no cutlery either. I specifically asked for a knife so that the individual pieces of cheese could be cut to not taint the taste. I asked the waiter to please point out which cheese was the rosemary as it wasn’t apparent by sight. The waiter pointed at a particular serving. Which both myself and my companions tasted and no rosemary could be tasted. The waiter who served us, asked if everything was OK, I advised him no. I advised that no rosemary could be tasted as all three of us love rosemary and this was the only reason we ordered this particular dish., the waiter advised that he would check with the chef. The waiter then came out with more cheese pointing at the rosemary on it, this we could see though could not possible eat any more cheese as we didn’t eat half of what had been provided. The waiter advised us to take it away with us, I advised no, as we do not have capacity to take with us and store it. The waiter took it away. Our experience of this caffe was tainted only by the service. In our experience of all of the restaurants we have visited in Italy on our many trips here, this has far been the worst experience as far as waiters and service go. Never have we encountered an experience like this before anywhere in the world so far. No appropriate cleaning down of the table for new guests. No appropriate cutlery or crockery was delivered or set out. No appropriate explanation of what was on offer and what each dish was. No choice offered when the waiter knew we were not happy. Our experience of this caffe is that whilst the decor is beautifully designed, the staff that served us lowered the standard of the fine establishment. If the service was 5 star like the establishment has marketed itself as in its design then it is worth the prices being charged. Poor service can destroy a reputation of a business over time. Sometimes rapidly. My advice is to avoid this caffe at all costs.

Lovely and classic inside. Especially the internal garden area. Unfortunately, the food is subpar and the service is extremely slow. Been here a couple of times and each time the coffee has come cold and the food has taken very long. I also want to express even when we asked for very hot coffee drinks the second time, the cappuccini still came cold. They seem to be understaffed as someone is always running around. Coffee and food is just ok. Wouldn’t recommend for coffee or food, but perhaps an aperitivo in a cozy spot with a friend or on one of their live music nights.

Caffè Santa Zita is not only beautifully located in the heart of Lucca, but it’s also run by one of the kindest and most professional teams I’ve ever encountered. The staff were welcoming, the service was efficient and warm, and the atmosphere just perfect for a relaxed break. What truly sets them apart, however, goes far beyond great coffee or charming ambiance. I accidentally left my purse at the café and only realized it was missing once I was back in Florence - after having visited multiple places and even cities that day. I wasn’t even sure where to begin searching. As a last hope, I contacted Caffè Santa Zita via WhatsApp… and guess what? They had found my purse! A heartfelt thank you to Michele and the entire staff for keeping it safe and for being so helpful and kind throughout. I couldn’t be more grateful. And what a lovely coincidence that we share the same name - definitely a sign! 😊 Highly recommend this gem of a café - not just for the coffee, but for the people behind it ❤️

Loved everything about this place! Santa Zita is like an oasis of calmness and style. You only need to enter it to be transported back in time. We had two coffees, one El Salvador specialty and a regular coffee, both very good, as well as two slices of delicious cake.

This place is a whole experience on itself. I definitely recommend checking it out! They offer a very diverse array of pastry, sandwiches, biscuits, cakes, and lunch dishes. We tried 4 different items and they were all very good! The interior is beautiful and cosy. You can sit on the terrace outside, but also in their little garden in the back. All staff are dressed to impress: they match the vibe of this spot. Be warned however: every 30 seconds they mist the place (this was in July) so your clothing/hair may get damp. A remark regarding the service: There are no translations on the menu card (which is fine) so we tried to look up the different dishes to figure out what they were. The waiter saw us clearly struggling (with our phones and the open menus) yet always quickly came to ask what we wanted while we did not have a clue yet. We felt very rushed: he kept standing there and looking at us expectantly so I just randomly chose. We would have appreciated some patience.

I would give them 10 stars if possible. The atmosphere is elegant and beautiful. We asked them to choose 2 of their favorite sweet treats we also got 3 sandwiches, the very best cappuccino I have had so far, a Bellini that was made with fresh juice and some sodas for the kids. Everything was stellar and amazing. They also dropped off a tray of snacks. Potato chips, olives and peanuts. We will be back in the morning for another wonderful snack.

Awesome coffee and pastries. It opens really early in the morning so I was able to take breakfast just before taking the bus to the airport, which stop is nearby. I ordered two delicious cinnamon cakes.

We ate lunch nearby & had cappuccino (we are foreigners), apple pie and Aragostella, they are all so good. The price is also very reasonable. Cuppa for 1,60, apple pie 1,50.

I went here with my two adult daughters in our recent trip to Lucca. The food was delicious, the service was good and friendly, and the location was great. Afterward, we rented bikes from nearby Poli and biked around the city wall and on top of the wall...it was wonderful! I still have the wish to have another Aragostella!

The staff was really friendly and welcoming, which made for a nice experience. The chocolate braid I tried was just okay — not bad, but nothing special. Everything else in the display case looked super tempting though! Prices were about average for the area. Worth a visit if you're nearby.

I am gluten free and they had loads of pastry options available. Was so delicious and as a coeliac I didn’t feel stressed or worried eating! Prices of the pastries were good but seems to be an extra 50 cents per item if you sit in and the drinks are quite expensive so maybe more of a take away option…

Super rude owner and staff. If you want to sit at the table outside you cannot bring it on your own from the bar but they will bring it to you and charge you extra for it. 15€ for a simple breakfast. Do not go there. Crazy tourist trap.

Average italien bar with café, pastries, croissants, cocktails and liquor at the north eastern area of the wall. Service was quick and very friendly. Location meeehh, right in front is a big parking and always busy cars and other wheels.

The chocolate waffles here and the coffee and chocolate tarts were delicious.it is beautifully presented and there it a rustic vintage seating area at the back which is lovely however the waitress wasn't very friendly and I would recommend you know exactly what you want when ordering as she isn't overly patient as his my experience with quite a few places in lucca

It could be easy to miss this restaurant as it’s quite a small place with just a few tables. The menu is concise but there’s something to suit everyone. The ravioli of the day was simple yet perfect. Dessert was homemade plum cake served with ice cream, just enough to leave you wanting more. I would definitely recommend a visit here if you like fresh home cooked traditional food. Loved it

All around the best meal I've had in Italy! I'm not exaggerating: The freshness of the ingredients comes thru in the bread, drinks and main dishes. 10/10, would recommend!! We were staying just outside the city walls, and saw the great reviews. In a town of tourists, it's charm is that it ISNT touristy. We arrived early (1900) w a toddler and sat outside in the shade. The restaurant was not busy and the service was impeccable. The menu isn't expansive, but every dish is one of kind, made on the spot and the chef only uses fresh ingredients.

The burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly, served with a small side salad, and potatoes. The burger bun was soft and light and had cheese, onions, and tomato. The salad was dressed with a light oil and came with tomatoes and carrot shavings. The fries were delicious and not oily or heavy. All the menu items were reasonably priced. A very satisfying dinner, comfortable atmosphere, and delicious food -- the perfect ending to a day of travel and the beginning of our stay in Lucca.

The place is really beautiful and cozy, there are books and board games, the menu is pretty interesting, food and coffee tasty. However, I found the pricing a bit weird. After we took a place and got ready to order, we found out that there are 2 types of coffee - veloce (fast) and relax, and both types are basically the same, the difference (x2 in price!) is about where do you sit or how fast you drink (it was not really clear). Even though we had to pay two times more for the coffee, we also still had to pay for service. When it comes for service - firstly I got cappuccino instead of double espresso, then they forgot about the cinnamon - not a big issue, but for this price I’d expect something really perfect and relaxing. I appreciate a bowl of water for my dog, however the bowl was pretty dirty, would be nice to get a clean one without something floating in it. Also, a waiter made a sharp movement towards my dog so that my dog got irritated - I’m pretty sure he did it for a reason, looked like he wanted to annoy the dog and laugh. Not funny at all. I understand maybe he didn’t mean anything bad, but why do you have to make another creature to feel bad and anxious, why do you have to cause bad emotions for someone? By some distance the best focaccia I’ve ever had. Proper traditional bakery, used to tourists but still clearly frequented by locals. The lady serving me did a great job of working around my complete lack of Italian, taking me through all the options despite not speaking much English. All I had was a focaccia sandwich with just mortadella in it and it was still one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, so tasty was the bread. Incredibly cheap as well, I thought she’d made a mistake when she only charged me €2.40!

Unfortunately, I just had an upsetting experience here with one of the workers. I am visiting and don't speak Italian, so I asked if she spoke English (in Italian). She said something along the lines of "We are in Italy, we don't speak English here." I placed my order in Italian and she mocked it to the customer in front of me. There are many tourists that come to Lucca, so I was surprised by this reaction. At least I tried speaking in Italian. I must admit the focaccia was delicious, though sadly I will not be returning here.

A local shop keeper recommended this restaurant to us and said it was not a touristy place so we were super excited. Great store! We stumbled upon it while wandering around Lucca old town. It was late in the evening, close to the closing time, but the staff were still very nice to let us try a few locally pruduced olive oils and explain everything they could to help us decide on what we wanted to buy.

Got some great gifts and food items to bring home! We got to sample the olive oil which was a plus and staff was helpful.

Cute little deli that we stumbled upon in Lucca. We had a gorgeous charcuterie and cheese plate with some prosecco (very good value) and were captivated by the butcher attempting to describe different local olive oils to us without a common language! Lots of nice things to take away and we loved that they had local olive oils in hand-luggage sizes!
