Buca di Sant'Antonio is a long-standing trattoria located in the historical center of Lucca, Italy. The restaurant offers a cozy and welcoming ambiance with traditional Tuscan rural accents. Our group (7) didn't make advance reservations because we were going to the Puccini concert (wonderful!) and we weren't sure what we wanted to do after. At the last minute, based on a recommendation from our tour guide, we were able to secure a table for after the concert.
We are so lucky. This was an incredible meal that we all enjoyed!

Wow. We only got to stop here for dessert but the desserts were outstanding. The host has allergies of her own so she was particularly attentive to ours, even catching a mistake by her kitchen where they put a wafer on one of our desserts that had gluten. The desserts were SO. GOOD.
It would be a real miss to come to Lucca as a celiac and not eat here.

Planning a getaway to Lucca? You're about to make an epic leap from "tourist" to "culinary adventurer"!
But be warned, your first mission is to make a mandatory stop at Buca di S. Antonio. And don't think of it as some mouse hole, but a paradise of flavors, where culinary stories come to life!
Once there, look for Bianca! She's not just a name, but a local legend, a sort of smiling Michelin guide. I don't advise listening with just one ear, but with both, plus an open heart, because she knows exactly what you want before you even do. Ignore the menu and let yourself be in her hands!
I won't tell you what I ate, because that would ruin the surprise! I’ll just say this: it’s a place that once had a Michelin star... and gave it up. It’s like a Hollywood celebrity saying, "No thanks, I want to stay authentic!" It's a brave decision that we respect and savor to the fullest!
So, the next time someone talks about stars, don't look at the sky, but at the plate at Buca di S. Antonio!
Location: in a quiet alley
Vibe: I was there at dinner on a Sunday good mix between locals and tourists. There many tables with families.
Seating: Very few tables outdoors and lots of indoor seating. Not too noisy, as there r many rooms and a couple of floors. There are several private dining rooms.
Setting: This has a romantic setting, with many of antiques on the walls.
Service: The service was faster than the usual Italian pace. The Staff was reserved, but professional
Dress Code: most people are in casual clothes.
Food: Food was tasty. We started with the squash soup, then Rabbit Sugo, Seabass w beans and wild hen with potatoes . Their menu offerings had a greater Tuscan slant that, is 7 Antipasti (custards, soups, pate), 8 Primi (Pasta, Risotto, Gnochi), 7 Secondi (Goat, Beef Hen, Lamb). It was really nice they published the allergens contain for each item. There are several items from each category that a Vegetarian could eat. Dessert menu was limited. They could seasonally and when I was there Porcini Mushrooms were in season.
Beverages: There is not a “bar” in the classic sense, but they seem to have a fully stock liquor area. They have a separate wine list. We had the local white sparkling wine, Franciacorta, tasted somewhat like Blanc de Blanc.
Wonderful Meal at Buca di Sant’Antonio
We stopped by Buca di Sant’Antonio during a day trip to Lucca after it was recommended to us—and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the start, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful.
The food was outstanding. We started with the beef carpaccio topped with truffle and shaved parmesan, and it was to die for—delicate, rich, and full of flavor. The pasta that followed was just as impressive: fresh, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with care.
The chefs even came out to greet some of the guests, which added a really personal touch and showed how much pride they take in their work.
This place blends great food with genuine hospitality, and it made for a truly enjoyable lunch. If you’re in Lucca, it’s well worth a visit.
As a bonus, we happened to be seated next to a local olive oil producer and had the chance to sample some of their oil from Pisa—which was a really cool and unexpected experience.
Amazing restaurant! Local atmosphere and recommended by the Michelin Guide — that’s how we found it. We had the local Tordelli al sugo pasta and for dessert, tiramisu and gelato di yogurt — everything was excellent!

The location is beautiful with a nice outdoor seating section right in the square. I could not recommend this spot enough if you plan on being in Lucca.

Let me start by saying that the food is so amazing that I had to give it 5 stars in total - BUT the service here is below subpar for a restaurant that prides itself on the michelin star it used to have. The service is probably a big reason why it doesn't have that star anymore.
The waiters seemed to be very busy and some staff members were straight up lying. Small things like forgetting to remove the bread crumbs from our table, a glass that was broken on the rim where you put your lips and forgetting to come back to explain the food we just got.
The part that made it very bad was in particular one waiter who came with the food and just said "enjoy" without explaining what food was, twice. The first time he did it, I asked him what dessert we just got - he said "it's ice cream". I asked him what kind and he said "vanilla ice cream with strawberry on top". We tasted it and didn't taste like that at all. I asked another waiter what dessert we got and it turned out it wasn't a dessert at all, but a pallet cleanser - a type of ice cream that was smoked on wood with olive oil etc. which gives it a sense of cheese mouthfeel. Either way - the first waiter had no idea and decided to just explain what the dish looked like instead of saying "I don't know but I'll find a waiter who does" or something like that.
My wife was pregnant and so her food was well done - that waiter could have probably mixed up the dishes which could have been bad.
Either way... The taste and creativity makes up for it. But as I said, if they want their michelin star back they need to fix the waiter situation first.
This restaurant offers delicious Italian fare in an elegant setting. The service is attentive but not intrusive. Love the outdoor seating with a view of the piazza!
I recently dined here, a small and charming restaurant that had some great dishes, as well as a few that were not as enjoyable. The service was friendly, although somewhat inconsistent. The wine menu was interesting. Based in my experience, I would recommend ordering a la carte rather than opting for the tasting menu.
Of the dishes I tried, the trottole with rabbit offal ragout, sweetbreads with carrots and ginger, and the smoked eel with beetroot and sour cream were all excellent. The sole with black truffle and Champagne was favorite.
If you do decide to try the tasting menu, I would recommend keeping an open mind and being adventurous. The sweetbreads were a surprising and delightful dish, with interesting flavors and a very tender texture. However, I found the lamb and artichoke to be disappointing, as the meat was quite gamey and the artichoke had a strong liver flavor. The timing between courses was also quite slow, especially toward the end of your meal.
Very nice food and the service was great. A friend recommended this place and was not dissapointed!
Came here with a party of 6, beautiful atmosphere, and food presentation was impeccable. Service and overall taste of food could be better. I loved chicken and the beef tartar, all other dishes she tried were underwelming. The food was nice for taking pictures though!

Pizzeria da Felice is a century-old, family-run pizzeria located in the charming street of via Buia, just around the corner from the church of San Michele. It's a beloved spot among locals and travelers alike, known for its house-specialty focaccia, crepes, and an array of pizzas available for take-out or by the slice. The pizzeria has mastered the art of pizza-making and has become a staple in the community.
Great super thin crust pizza. All with the same margherita base but with option to add salami, salami picante, etc. got the salami picante and loved it. They cut a chunk of pizza for you and weigh it to determine cost. Great option for quick meal or snack.

Pizzeria Da Felice was highly recommend by the host of our apartment, having read the reviews I was a little worried that we wouldn't be welcome as tourists however please ignore the reviews! She politely asked that they prefer cash, unfortunately I didn't have any so paid with card. No idea if I got charged extra or not though.
Delicious, quick lunch at an excellent price (15 euro for two of us, including sodas!) Loved that you could add any toppings to the focaccia and the pizza, and the cechina was great too. Staff very helpful.

I had the pumpkin ravioli and the eggplant parmigiana, both were the best I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend making reservations. This was one of my favorite meals of our stay.

In one word—WOW! We stayed in Lucca center and drove 20 minutes to reach the restaurant, set in a beautiful landscape. The restaurant was full of locals, which says a lot. We enjoyed the delicious Bistecca Fiorentina and drank the house wine made by the restaurant owner. The food was perfect, and so was the service. We will definitely come back again!

I guess it's not gourmet, but the bib gourmand is very well deserved. They serve traditional food, but very delicious, almost perfect and with love. The Red Wine by the owner is amazing. The staff is super friendly. The flair is kinda eleganr And the prices are more than fair.

We recently lunchedat this charming restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the service, which was both good and exceptionally friendly. The 'senatore capelli' spaghetti, while having a very strong cheese flavor, is definitely for those who appreciate a bold taste. The homemade tordelli was delightful, with a well-balanced flavor that left a lasting impression.

This was our best meal during our week in Tuscany - exceptional food, excellent value for money for the quality, we found it via the Michelin guide but it feels a step above the usual non-starred entries, with touches such as mixing their carbonara in a wheel of cheese at the table. Also a very good and reasonable wine list - we had a lovely bottle for €22.
Absolutely delicious ! The pasta were insane, the meat delicious and the deserts were also perfect. I recommend if you want a nice lunch or dinner. Prices are also great for the good food quality !

Almost like an East London cafe in Lucca! Suggested by locals (if not probably will try something looks more “Authentic Italian”) best place to chill with wine and indeed it is.
Friendly staff that most importantly, knows and loves wine and can show and suggest some good choices they have. I indeed had a great chat with the owner about wine as a topic and is really quite inspiring. (Yes she speaks good English)
Food wise I keep thinking of their Tuna-Fennel bite. It’s really the best demonstration- simple food just great ingredients and that works!
What’s more? There’s some board games to keep the children busy, so adults can enjoy a relaxing chat.

What a fun place to hang out and have a light snack with a tasty drink! The bartender was very kind and helpful, and treated us well even though our Italian is not that good. We started out with an aperol spritz (€5) & a beer (IPA, €6) and a few bruschette at €1 each. Those were very fresh and flavorful, so we ordered a few more as well as a great glass of house white wine—which was also very affordable (€2). This place is a standout for relaxing & enjoying the crowds walk by. We are definitely coming back.

Good service and normal prices which is rare for this part of Lucca. Great find. Went on a Thursday and opened at 3pm, so different to time on Google, but don't know if we were just lucky. They have a few toys for kids to play with and interesting decor for the adults to appreciate.. oh, and toilets, which isn't always a given round here!

A cozy place with a great food and attentive service, I really enjoyed my dinner, highly recommended! Be aware that while they have few Italian cuisine-inspired plates, most of the dishes are inspired by Middle East, Asia, South America.
Few notes/preferences:
- I missed in the menu some fresh, green veggie plates. I was looking for some plate to balance out other dishes we chose (carbs) and I couldn’t find any options.
- Torta Della Nona was great, but please serve with a knife! The bottom was pretty hard and not possible to cut by fork : D knife is a must!

Focaccia 🫓: Absolutely amazing! Crunchy, flavorful, and freshly baked. We loved it so much that we asked for more even after the waiter had already taken the full order… and he kindly brought it anyway!
Tortelli al Ragù 🍝: pasta with a rich, savory ragù — truly authentic, Tuscan-style comfort food.
Tiramisù 🍰: Creamy, well-balanced, with a generous touch of coffee and cocoa. The perfect sweet ending.

My family and I adored this little find. We were right at the witching hour (230pm) when we asked if the kitchen was open (after three knock backs) and they were more than welcoming. There is a small outdoor terrace but we ate inside. Classically italian / european interior - tasteful with nothing over the tip. We had a two antipasti (local salumi) and the ceccina and baccala. Then the roasted tuscan chicken and tagliatelle with porcini. My sone had a plate of perfectly cooked spaghetti in ragu (he loved it). Some local red wine and prosecco to start. More than perfect service and All for 100 euros.

Favorite restaurant so far in Lucca! Located inside the walls, around the corner from Hotel Ilaria, the food, service and ambience were all great. Loved the chicken with melt in your mouth roasted potatoes and the branzino. The pear, walnut and Parm salad with a drizzle of honey was the best we've ever eaten! We are sure to return this week! Lucca, a beautiful gem in the Tuscan region of Italy, is a beautiful and unique destination. Handsome Renaissance walls that surround the historic city centre with treed -lined walkways perfect for a morning stroll. There are beautiful churches and cathedrals to visit as well as some incredible Trattorias and cafes to sit and enjoy an espresso. A must visit if you're in Tuscany. Easily accessible by train from Florence and Pisa.

I had a special coffee with cream and coconut, served in a martini glass (!) and a delicious hummus sandwich, but everything looked delicious.

The design and atmosphere of this little caffe is wonderful.
Which is what first attracted myself and my other two companions.
We were seated in the garden area, on a table that had not been wiped down and still had the spills from previous occupants.
We ordered drinks to start with and these were fine.
On the small side, compared to what we have encountered so far in Italy.
The food? We ordered little tartlets, meatballs, salmon and a selection of 3 cheeses.
The food came on a little high tea stand, lovely, it was well presented, the cheeses came on a plate with a tiny fork.
The cheeses were supposed to be, pecorino, pecorino with rosemary and pecorino with blue cheese.
No small plates were offered to either myself or my companions, no cutlery either.
I specifically asked for a knife so that the individual pieces of cheese could be cut to not taint the taste.
I asked the waiter to please point out which cheese was the rosemary as it wasn’t apparent by sight. The waiter pointed at a particular serving. Which both myself and my companions tasted and no rosemary could be tasted.
The waiter who served us, asked if everything was OK, I advised him no.
I advised that no rosemary could be tasted as all three of us love rosemary and this was the only reason we ordered this particular dish., the waiter advised that he would check with the chef.
The waiter then came out with more cheese pointing at the rosemary on it, this we could see though could not possible eat any more cheese as we didn’t eat half of what had been provided.
The waiter advised us to take it away with us, I advised no, as we do not have capacity to take with us and store it.
The waiter took it away.
Our experience of this caffe was tainted only by the service.
In our experience of all of the restaurants we have visited in Italy on our many trips here, this has far been the worst experience as far as waiters and service go.
Never have we encountered an experience like this before anywhere in the world so far.
No appropriate cleaning down of the table for new guests.
No appropriate cutlery or crockery was delivered or set out.
No appropriate explanation of what was on offer and what each dish was.
No choice offered when the waiter knew we were not happy.
Our experience of this caffe is that whilst the decor is beautifully designed, the staff that served us lowered the standard of the fine establishment.
If the service was 5 star like the establishment has marketed itself as in its design then it is worth the prices being charged.
Poor service can destroy a reputation of a business over time. Sometimes rapidly.
My advice is to avoid this caffe at all costs.
Lovely and classic inside. Especially the internal garden area. Unfortunately, the food is subpar and the service is extremely slow. Been here a couple of times and each time the coffee has come cold and the food has taken very long. I also want to express even when we asked for very hot coffee drinks the second time, the cappuccini still came cold. They seem to be understaffed as someone is always running around. Coffee and food is just ok. Wouldn’t recommend for coffee or food, but perhaps an aperitivo in a cozy spot with a friend or on one of their live music nights.
Caffè Santa Zita is not only beautifully located in the heart of Lucca, but it’s also run by one of the kindest and most professional teams I’ve ever encountered. The staff were welcoming, the service was efficient and warm, and the atmosphere just perfect for a relaxed break.
What truly sets them apart, however, goes far beyond great coffee or charming ambiance. I accidentally left my purse at the café and only realized it was missing once I was back in Florence - after having visited multiple places and even cities that day. I wasn’t even sure where to begin searching. As a last hope, I contacted Caffè Santa Zita via WhatsApp… and guess what? They had found my purse!
A heartfelt thank you to Michele and the entire staff for keeping it safe and for being so helpful and kind throughout. I couldn’t be more grateful. And what a lovely coincidence that we share the same name - definitely a sign! 😊

Loved everything about this place! Santa Zita is like an oasis of calmness and style. You only need to enter it to be transported back in time.
We had two coffees, one El Salvador specialty and a regular coffee, both very good, as well as two slices of delicious cake.
This place is a whole experience on itself. I definitely recommend checking it out! They offer a very diverse array of pastry, sandwiches, biscuits, cakes, and lunch dishes. We tried 4 different items and they were all very good! The interior is beautiful and cosy. You can sit on the terrace outside, but also in their little garden in the back. All staff are dressed to impress: they match the vibe of this spot.
Be warned however: every 30 seconds they mist the place (this was in July) so your clothing/hair may get damp.
A remark regarding the service: There are no translations on the menu card (which is fine) so we tried to look up the different dishes to figure out what they were. The waiter saw us clearly struggling (with our phones and the open menus) yet always quickly came to ask what we wanted while we did not have a clue yet. We felt very rushed: he kept standing there and looking at us expectantly so I just randomly chose. We would have appreciated some patience.
I would give them 10 stars if possible. The atmosphere is elegant and beautiful. We asked them to choose 2 of their favorite sweet treats we also got 3 sandwiches, the very best cappuccino I have had so far, a Bellini that was made with fresh juice and some sodas for the kids. Everything was stellar and amazing. They also dropped off a tray of snacks. Potato chips, olives and peanuts. We will be back in the morning for another wonderful snack.

Vinarkia Della Pavona is a vintage-glam wine bar and shop that offers a wide selection of Italian wines and zingy cocktails. The cozy interior with heavily beamed ceilings and glossy dark-wood booths creates a welcoming atmosphere, while the outdoor areas are perfect for enjoying drinks in pleasant weather. The owners, Nicola and Rebecca, provide excellent service and are happy to make recommendations.
We quite enjoyed this small but cozy wine bar and restaurant. Small outdoor seating, cozy bar area, a few inside tables, and some garden-like outdoor seating. Friendly staff and several good wine options for under €10 per glass. Also, beer on tap. The food menu is small with only a limited number of options. It get more crowded as it gets later! Of course!

Cozy outdoor terrace restaurant with excellent food and local charm
A hidden gem in the old town. I had the Eggplant Parmigiana and it was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and perfectly prepared. The recommended red wine from the region paired wonderfully with the dish, and I finished with a refreshing Limoncello.
The outdoor terrace was peaceful and inviting; the atmosphere was relaxed. Service was warm and attentive throughout.
Price-performance is excellent, especially for such a central location. I would happily come back!
Had an AMAZING vegetable and cheese platter ("Tagliere vegetariano") here. Staff was very attentive and The ambiance was warm and cozy. All things perfect for a pre-dinner digestive and appetizer!
What a great place. The food and cocktails are amazing and affordable, the selection of spirits (tum, Whisky etc) is very impressive! Nice old school / speak easy music in the background is the icing on the cake.

We absolutely loved this place. We went there almost every evening while in Lucca and we fell in love with the beautiful atmosphere, the romantic garden in the back but most of all with the staff. They made us feel so welcome and we laughed a lot. The cocktails were surprising and delicious, with the Santa Maria and Pomelo Negroni being our favorites. We had the vegetarian board and they were very accommodating to one of us eating vegan. This is a must go when you are in Lucca!
Great place, great atmosphere and interiors, great and friendly service, delicious food and drinks! I took a vegetarian “tagliere” with a selection of grilled veggies and cheeses, a cauliflower flan and tiramisu as dessert. Everything was superb. I come here every time I’m in Lucca and I’ll keep coming :)
Smallest wine pour ever! I paid 15 euro for less than a 4 oz. pour. I said something and they talked to me like I've never ordered a nice glass of wine! Very demeaning and rude. I was ready to stay for drinking and eating for the evening but I let my feet do my talking. I left without spending another penny. This place was completely disappointing! There are too many amazing places in Lucca to waste my time on a place trying to screw their clientele!
We chose Vinarkia fairly spontaneously, but were so glad we did after two hours of wonderful service and fantastic drinks.
The team are both welcoming and informed, so if you're coming to take advantage of their wine credentials you won't be disappointed. We were there for a couple of spritz before dinner, and honestly one you've had a couple here you'll realise the difference with the many others you'll be served around town... these are people who care about the drinks they serve.
It's also just a brilliant vibe. Great playlist, and lots of opportunity for people watching. The charcuterie boards looked delicious from a distance as well.
Were we not here for only a night, we'd be back straight away.

Franklin'33 is an award-winning cocktail bar known for its talented bartender Marco Macelloni and its expansion to Massa. The bar draws inspiration from the year 1933 when Franklin Delano Roosevelt ended Prohibition in the United States. The ambiance reflects the American 1930s with vintage decor, a smoky atmosphere, and a prohibition-era aesthetic.
The cocktails are excellent! The staff are incredibly sweet people. You need to go a bit early to find a spot outside. We were at Franklin '33 every day while we were in Lucca. Sitting inside is very difficult because of the heat. They need to address this.

We ordered negroni and the "Regina Elizabeta II" (Queen Elizabeth the second). Both are well prepared. I love the colours on the top of my drink. Just looking at it already gives one a delighted mood.
The young owners are very friendly and share their ideas and visions with the bar and the city.
They serve breakfast daily but closed on Monday - glad that we happened to bump into here on that Sunday night. Definitely we will come by again.

The Sorbetti di frutta fresca di nostra produzione secondo mercato was the perfect palate cleanser, with its refreshing and vibrant fruit flavors.

We're quite picky when it comes to a good cuisine. I'm soo glad that the Google reviews helped us pick a place to eat. I didn't mind staying inside as we didn't book a table on a fairly small terrace. Interior has a nice upper class artsy vibe to it. Service is always a big part of a culinary experience. Each and every person who served us tonight was a professional - friendly attitude and ability to advise. The quality of food served was on a high level. Typical Tuscan rabbit cake, pasta with ragu and also wine. Everything did just simply fit...Hence I'm taking the time to post a review. Thanks to the whole team, we enjoyed every bit of this evening!

The Crusted Artichoke was a bit too mushy throughout, although the rabbit pie was pretty good.
For mains, we had the fried sea food and the leek tart.
The leek tart was good for the first 2 bites, but it was so sweet and overwhelming we simply couldn't continue eating it. The fried sea food was very similar - everything, including the veg, was covered in batter and there was no flavour variation. You were being hit with the same strong and overwhelming flavours on repeat. The problem with both dishes is they had nothing to balance them, no sides of any sort - we thought we may have ordered incorrectly (and missed ordering sides) but both dishes were recommended by the staff as-is.
The restaurant itself created a very nice ambiance and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. It's a real shame the food was such a let down.

The staff is very professional, the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and the service very efficient.
It's a little expensive in comparison to some other options in the area, but it is an absolutely amazing dining experience! If you are slightly interested in having dinner here I would suggest making reservations as soon as possible as it seems to be a very desirable restaurant.
My boyfriend and I spent over one week in Italy, and this was one of our top favorite restaurants. The bolognese was incredible, and the pasta with marinated sea bass was so unique and spectacular. Our waitress Francesca was very sweet and welcoming. We loved Lucca and we will come back here the next time we visit!
Immaculate service in a gorgeous setting in the city. There were free refreshing drinks and a "mouth amuser" included, our kids loved the drink. The food was perfectly cooked and the menu imaginative with creative, modern twists on the classics. Highly recommended, it wasn't too pricey either.

Another wonderful experience at this fabulous restaurant in Lucca! We had a gathering here the night before our wedding in 2017 and it was so perfect we had to come back and visit again. We had a beautiful meal on the outdoor terrace as the sun set and the evening light is stunning. It was wonderful to see the lovely Simona again, which made our evening even more special. ❤️
A random choice as I wrapped up visiting the botanical garden and was hungry. Noticed the lovely spot as I was walking along the wall and decided to give it a try. I ordered 2 antipasti items for my lunch and they were both incredible! The roasted heirloom carrots with fresh herbs and cream sauce was insanely good. Top notch. And the fried pecorino with pear, honey and cinnamon coulis was decadent yet not heavy. Wish I was visiting Lucca longer as I would love to return for dinner!
We had drinks and wanted to have lunch but the lady staff is not that welcome us to order food except pizza with funny reasons. Then when our drinks were served, the man waiter spilled my drink on the table and knocked our chips bowl so hard until the chip fell out with little expression of ‘sorry’ and not even bother to pick up that chip!!! Not recommended this place at all. Pity that its such a nice setting.

Lovely establishment on the wall, while a family can dine on Pizza outside, the interior is reserved for more upscale dining. Food was very nicely presentes and tasted. delicious.
We came in hoping to enjoy a few drinks and a good time. While we were promptly seated, the staff then completely ignored us for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, tables that arrived after us received immediate attention. It genuinely felt like if you're American, you're welcome, but if you're European, you're invisible. Another example of a beautiful Italian location with very poor staff and service. Very disappointing. We won’t be coming back.

Nestled in the charming town of Lucca, De Cervesia Pub is a delightful homage to the region's rich brewing history that dates back to the 1840s. Opened by Michele and Matteo Sargenti in June, this unique bottle shop and bar aims to revive local traditions with a focus on craft beer.
They have a solid West Coast IPA on draft (Spaceman) that tastes better then most of the IPAs back in the states. This place is very chill with a ton of beer options for all palettes. Highly recommend this spot for a drink for any “in between” time you may have.

It's not a pub, just get a beer and stand outside -or seat if you're lucky- and talk to people since there's a good vibe with local folks, from 1700 until 2300.

Lively place in Lucca, one of the few I found on a Sunday night especially as many places were closed. Range of Italian craft beer to try and helpful staff as they tried to help me find somewhere to have dinner as well. They had serie A playing on the TV so you might be able to catch a match here. Originally, you would need a 2€ deposit to drink out of their glasses but I wasnt subject to this. Just a bit of a pity because glass is always better than plastic so please do yourself a favor!
Loads of different beers available but no non-alcoholic beers. No options for non-alcoholic drinks either other than water which is disappointing. My husband loves craft beer and so we went there for him but as I’m pregnant I can’t drink alcohol. The only good thing was that the bottled water was just €1.

Fattoria Sardi Giustiniani is a charming countryside estate that welcomes visitors to indulge in their organic wines paired with expertly crafted dishes by chef Damiano Donati. The rustic setting provides the perfect backdrop for savoring authentic Tuscan cuisine, such as the flavorful costata steak and traditional ossobuco. Owner Jacopo Giustiniani has created a neighborhood treasure that offers a warm welcome and an extensive tour of their winemaking process.
This was a magical place for us. The appartment was very comfortable with enough space and all equipment for the daily life. We were greated warmly, were informed about organisatorical details immediately and received prompt replies to any question. The appartment is located in a stunning location overlooking vineyards and some minutes drive out of Lucca.
We enjoyed a great wine tasting including a walk over the wineyards and learned a lot about the local wines and the whole process. Furthermore we attended a private cooking class.
The winetasting and cooking class were super individual and done with a lot of fun and passion.
Overall it was an amazing stay and we can only recommend to stay there.

We came to Fattoria Sardi for a wine tasting tour. Matteo, our guide, was most pleasant, knowledgeable, and inspiring. We saw the wine fields, the production site, and finished in the modern tasting room. Here we tasted five of the wines. They were all extraordinarily elegant and interesting. We had a short but informative tour followed by a wonderful meal. The food was of excellent quality, fresh, with wonderful flavors. It was a beautiful evening. If I lived closer, I would eat here frequently.

The negative is that getting around was difficult. Taxis were scarce so getting into the city was difficult.

I recently had a wine tasting at Enoteca Vanni and I strongly recommend the place for all wine lovers. The service and kindness of people is outstanding, as well as the wine selection and the availability of best vintages of f the best wines from Italy, France and Spain with particular attention to Supertuscan and Brunello di Montalcino selections. Definitely a must visit place in Lucca if you love wine.
Next to the wine store they have a small restaurant. They serve great wines by the glass or you can choose a bottle in the wine store and drink it on the terrace.
We went there to visit the cellar underneath the wine store and have lunch afterwards.

Dal Bardo was one of our favourite bars for aperitivo. Based on the north side of town near our hotel it attracts a lot of locals and has indoor and outdoor seating. Aperol Spritz is always my favourite and at only €4, they were a bargain!
The bar also offers complimentary aperitivo. This started off with crisps, nuts, crackers and bread and then out came delicious meat and cheeses! Usually bars will alternate the products through the evening and you can help yourselves. It is polite to always have a drink though!

Pretty ordinary. We were seated at a table, then asked to move as they had accepted a booking of 20+ and wanted our table. The offered table was next to a rubbish bin. We asked to move. Pizzicheria La Grotta is a charming restaurant located near the main square, with ample outdoor seating. The establishment resembles an old-fashioned grocery store filled with high-quality products. Service was swift and without fuss and when the food came, I was steaming hot and as tasty as it gets! The Fettuccine ai funghi porcini set a new standard of excellence for me - simple and unpretentious with plenty of mushrooms and a pleasant creamy yet light sauce.
The pizza was another hit - great crunchy thin crust, super sweet passata and beautiful melty mozzarella di bufala and fresh basil.
The view from the restaurant is also very nice, with the surrounding piazzetta and some artsy sculpture nearby.

This is my favourite restaurant of our whole trip through Tuscany by far. The local Lucca olive oil is something special and the wines are all personally selected by Pasquale himself who’s generous with his time and attention to his guests - he really cares about the experience.

Last week we had dinner at Pasquale's. We tried to make a reservation on the day itself, but he said it was the busiest day of the year and he was completely full. However, he said he would contact me later that evening if a table became available. And sure enough, he called to say there was a table for two!
We were given a special spot outside in peace and quiet, where Pasquale and his team welcomed us and our spouses. We drank the most beautiful wine of the whole week here, a monthly personal recommendation on the menu. The food was also perfectly prepared for both of us. My girlfriend's veal was initially cooked a little too long, but this was quickly resolved and the team ensured that everything ran smoothly.
This is a must if you are in Lucca, don't hesitate to book well in advance!

We were a group of 7, so we needed advance reservations. Pasquale was very accommodating to my request and corresponded very effectively to confirm our reservation. I highly recommend you make a reservation in advance.
This was probably my very favorite restaurant of my trip. And we ate at many fantastic restaurants. Pasquale is an incredible owner and so friendly and happy to the guests. We booked an outside table and the weather decided to be uncooperative. Pasquale was able to move our large group inside. Thankfully his new location had enough room! (he doesn't fully book the tables because he expects a great experience for the guests, so there are some empty seats that will not be filled)
The scallops were incredible. Don't pass them up! The fettuccine with prawns as well. And the panna cotta was amazing. Other pictured items were from our other friends and they all raved about their food too.
Wine selections were provided by Pasquale, and you should go with his recommendations. Delicious!

We stumbled across this location in Lucca when looking for a special place for dinner on our last night. What an absolute find!
From the welcome prosecco to the delicious soup, quality tartar and tasty seafood pasta to start to the mains of duck, fried cod, baked sea bass and veal which were spectacular to the delicious Borolo, it was wonderful. Dessert with a complementary meloncello was a perfect end.
The staff are top notch, happy to serve and make your experience memorable. Pasquale himself is a gem! A true passion for wine is evident and the generosity of spirit is palpable.

The Osteria Baralla is a centuries-old Tuscan restaurant with vaulted brick rooms and a terrace that overlooks Piazza Anfiteatro. The atmosphere is authentic and welcoming, with good service and delicious local cuisine.
Our group of 6 enjoyed a lovely evening at Osteria Baralla last night to celebrate a birthday. We were welcomed by the friendly Jonathan who was an excellent host. All the food was great, with the highlight being the bistecca florentine steak which was fabulous.
A complimentary dessert for the birthday guest was a nice touch from the lovely and friendly waitress, Aurora. Overall, this Osteria is a fantastic choice if you’re visiting Lucca, highly recommend.

This became our favorite place to get a Spritz or cocktail in Lucca and we went there several times on our trip. We felt very welcome by the lovely staff and after a week felt like regulars!
Undici undici is on a pretty piazza in front of the Duomo di San Martino, facing the church and a fountain. It has ample shade from two huge umbrellas. The atmosphere there is friendly, and the clients a mix of locals and tourists. Prices are very reasonable.
We ate their twice - not because the food is awesome (it's a little hit or miss, if I'm honest about it), but because the experience is so very good. The tacos from the Bistro menu were a hit as was (criminally) the hamburger, when I was craving something other than "traditional" food. It's bar food, and viewed through that lens it's good. It's not going to top a Michelin starred spot - but it also costs a lot less.
What made this place heavenly for us were three things: the very friendly and amicable staff, who treated us so well. The fantastic drinks - perhaps the best Spritz and Negroni in Lucca. The dreamy location, in the day, or even better, at night. Watching the moon rise in the square was unforgettable.

Bar Pasticceria Elisa is a charming spot in Lucca known for its delightful pastries and perfect cappuccinos. The old-world ambiance adds to the experience, making it a very Italian place with classic style cakes that transport you back to the 1930s. Although there are no toilet facilities, the lovely couple working at the counter adds to the overall charm of this establishment. It's definitely worth a visit when in Lucca for some nice cakes and coffee.

Sunflower offers a great selection of panini, focaccia and crepes with a variety of fillings all priced between 4-7 Euros. Their Caprese salad (tomato and mozzarella) was delicious, while their San Frediano piadini (salami and fontina cheese) was more than adequate. Overall, a great bistro for affordable meals in the heart of Baricentro.
Great place to have a coffee or a quick lunch. Staff was very friendly and served quickly. Location, on the piazza in front of the basilica San Frediano, is incredible.

A favorite cafe with outdoor tables just below the wonderful byzantine style inspired medieval era mosaic of chiesa San Frediano.
Just walking around we found this place and stopped for breakfast, it was a indeed great. They served fresh warm brioche which was yummy. They have seating outside facing the piazza and it was quite relaxing.
I really enjoyed having a cocktail here. Along with it I was given a free plate of appetisers, which was great. But the best thing was the service, which was very friendly and personable.
Extremely rude service. The manager arrived to my table and angrily confronted me about sitting too long while ordering a pastry and a drink. He literally presented me with my check (without request), showing me a time stamp of the time I ordered, claiming I'm occupying the table (there were 2 empty tables near me). That's although it's a Cafe, and taking your time with your morning coffee is not out of the ordinary. Stay away!
Had the best refreshing gin tonic and great glass of wine, coupled with a fabulous appetizer tray included as part of our drinks, which was a nice unexpected surprise. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Bar Del Sole Di Marcone Monica is a delightful neighborhood café that exudes warmth and friendliness, making every visitor feel like part of the family. Run by Monica and her husband, this charming spot is perfect for coffee lovers, offering brews reminiscent of those from Cafe del Teatro, owned by Monica's father. The atmosphere is inviting; patrons are often greeted with smiles and even their furry friends receive special treatment with water and doggy biscuits.
Loved this place! Stopped in during the afternoon for spritzes and were served lovely snacks on the side for free. Came back in the morning and coffee was amazing! Would recommend, the staff is super friendly as well.

Wonderful local spot for coffee and aperitivo. We stayed in Lucca for two nights and visited four times because it was so charming and the staff were incredibly friendly.
Lovely little bar down the side street. I was recommended the Ventura spritz, now my absolute favourite spritz! We were very welcomed and our dog got water and a doggy biscuit. Great other drinks selection accompanied with snacks such as crisps, mini savoury pastry and mini pizza. Grazie mille🤌

This place is a neighborhood cafe. Everyone that comes in is greeted as a friend. Monica and her husband were super friendly and we made it our coffee place to go every time we were in that area of town. We took a cooking class with Novella and she turned out to be friends with Monica. Their coffee is great, like the one at Cafe del Teatro run by Monica’s dad, Ciro. Extremely recommended.

Monica and Ernesto are warm, helpful and greet everyone who walks in with the same joy - thus the name, Bar Del Sole. Their sunny disposition also translates to their food and service.
Seating is in the corner cafe or inside the old Mercato (market) which is very cool inside.
They have won best coffee competitions and their pastries were fresh and delicious. Reasonable prices for seat at table - 5 euro for 2 coffees and pastries.
Although we only stopped in for a coffee and pastries but we'll remember their hospitality and energy forever. Really lovely people, delicious coffee and food. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to get away from the tourist crowd and take break somewhere cool and quiet.
