Italian restaurant
Buca di Sant'Antonio is a long-standing trattoria located in the historical center of Lucca, Italy. The restaurant offers a cozy and welcoming ambiance with traditional Tuscan rural accents. It is known for serving excellent regional dishes, including mouth-watering meat and daily fresh handmade pasta. The wide wine list complements the authentic Italian cuisine. Visitors can enjoy dining indoors or on the romantic patio during warmer seasons.
Our group (7) didn't make advance reservations because we were going to the Puccini concert (wonderful!) and we weren't sure what we wanted to do after. At the last minute, based on a recommendation from our tour guide, we were able to secure a table for after the concert. We are so lucky. This was an incredible meal that we all enjoyed! I definitely recommend to you.

Wow. We only got to stop here for dessert but the desserts were outstanding. The host has allergies of her own so she was particularly attentive to ours, even catching a mistake by her kitchen where they put a wafer on one of our desserts that had gluten. The desserts were SO. GOOD. It would be a real miss to come to Lucca as a celiac and not eat here.

We had the pleasure of dining here during our one-night stay in Lucca, and it truly became an unforgettable finale to our Tuscany trip. I feel so lucky we made an early reservation, because the entire evening was marvelous from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish we tried exceeded our expectations. The service was warm, attentive, and welcoming, and the ambiance made the night feel special and memorable. My family and I enjoyed every moment, and we couldn’t have asked for a better last night in Tuscany. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Lucca!

Buca di S. Antonio – The Secrets of the Fallen-Star Kitchen! Planning a getaway to Lucca? You're about to make an epic leap from "tourist" to "culinary adventurer"! But be warned, your first mission is to make a mandatory stop at Buca di S. Antonio. And don't think of it as some mouse hole, but a paradise of flavors, where culinary stories come to life! Once there, look for Bianca! She's not just a name, but a local legend, a sort of smiling Michelin guide. I don't advise listening with just one ear, but with both, plus an open heart, because she knows exactly what you want before you even do. Ignore the menu and let yourself be in her hands! I won't tell you what I ate, because that would ruin the surprise! I’ll just say this: it’s a place that once had a Michelin star... and gave it up. It’s like a Hollywood celebrity saying, "No thanks, I want to stay authentic!" It's a brave decision that we respect and savor to the fullest! So, the next time someone talks about stars, don't look at the sky, but at the plate at Buca di S. Antonio!

Location: in a quiet alley Vibe: I was there at dinner on a Sunday good mix between locals and tourists. There many tables with families. Seating: Very few tables outdoors and lots of indoor seating. Not too noisy, as there r many rooms and a couple of floors. There are several private dining rooms. Setting: This has a romantic setting, with many of antiques on the walls. Service: The service was faster than the usual Italian pace. The Staff was reserved, but professional Dress Code: most people are in casual clothes. Food: Food was tasty. We started with the squash soup, then Rabbit Sugo, Seabass w beans and wild hen with potatoes . Their menu offerings had a greater Tuscan slant that, is 7 Antipasti (custards, soups, pate), 8 Primi (Pasta, Risotto, Gnochi), 7 Secondi (Goat, Beef Hen, Lamb). It was really nice they published the allergens contain for each item. There are several items from each category that a Vegetarian could eat. Dessert menu was limited. They could seasonally and when I was there Porcini Mushrooms were in season. Beverages: There is not a “bar” in the classic sense, but they seem to have a fully stock liquor area. They have a separate wine list. We had the local white sparkling wine, Franciacorta, tasted somewhat like Blanc de Blanc.

Wonderful Meal at Buca di Sant’Antonio We stopped by Buca di Sant’Antonio during a day trip to Lucca after it was recommended to us—and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the start, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. The food was outstanding. We started with the beef carpaccio topped with truffle and shaved parmesan, and it was to die for—delicate, rich, and full of flavor. The pasta that followed was just as impressive: fresh, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with care. The chefs even came out to greet some of the guests, which added a really personal touch and showed how much pride they take in their work. This place blends great food with genuine hospitality, and it made for a truly enjoyable lunch. If you’re in Lucca, it’s well worth a visit. As a bonus, we happened to be seated next to a local olive oil producer and had the chance to sample some of their oil from Pisa—which was a really cool and unexpected experience.

Amazing restaurant! Local atmosphere and recommended by the Michelin Guide — that’s how we found it. We had the local Tordelli al sugo pasta and for dessert, tiramisu and gelato di yogurt — everything was excellent!
Ariel M — Google review
Buca di Sant’Antonio is an absolute gem in the heart of Lucca—steeped in history, charm, and culinary excellence. The moment you step inside, you’re embraced by the warm, old-world atmosphere that makes you feel as though you’ve been welcomed into a beloved family home. The menu is a celebration of true Tuscan cuisine, with every dish prepared with passion and tradition—just like my Nonna used to make. From the handmade pastas to the perfectly cooked meats and seasonal vegetables, every bite tells a story of heritage and quality. The service is gracious and attentive, making you feel like an honored guest. Paired with an exceptional wine list featuring the best of the region, dining here is a deeply satisfying and memorable experience. Buca di Sant’Antonio isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a taste of Tuscany’s soul.

Italian restaurant
Ristorante Giglio is a renowned dining spot in Lucca, Italy, offering refined Italian tasting menus and an extensive wine selection. Originally established as a traditional farmers restaurant in 1979, it has evolved into a representation of haute contemporary cuisine, earning a Michelin star in 2019. The restaurant exudes a cozy and elegant atmosphere with distinctive service, providing an exceptional gastronomic experience.
Old review from last year. This experience was top-notch from start to finish. A true 5 star tasting menu with excellent service and great wine. The sommelier was very helpful. The location is beautiful with a nice outdoor seating section right in the square. I could not recommend this spot enough if you plan on being in Lucca.
Justin F — Google review
Heated rumors of a great tasting menu. Read their philosophy about menus and made a reservation the next day! Loved it. Paired wines worked perfectly. Portions were perfect so that you were satisfied it not over full. Flavors and combinations were creative and evoked memories. A perfect sensory experience. Service was friendly and professional. Don’t hesitate. Come enjoy the creativity

Great food! One of the better places to get pasta. The tiramisu was phenomenal too. Friendly service.
Anisa — Google review
Let me start by saying that the food is so amazing that I had to give it 5 stars in total - BUT the service here is below subpar for a restaurant that prides itself on the michelin star it used to have. The service is probably a big reason why it doesn't have that star anymore. The waiters seemed to be very busy and some staff members were straight up lying. Small things like forgetting to remove the bread crumbs from our table, a glass that was broken on the rim where you put your lips and forgetting to come back to explain the food we just got. The part that made it very bad was in particular one waiter who came with the food and just said "enjoy" without explaining what food was, twice. The first time he did it, I asked him what dessert we just got - he said "it's ice cream". I asked him what kind and he said "vanilla ice cream with strawberry on top". We tasted it and didn't taste like that at all. I asked another waiter what dessert we got and it turned out it wasn't a dessert at all, but a pallet cleanser - a type of ice cream that was smoked on wood with olive oil etc. which gives it a sense of cheese mouthfeel. Either way - the first waiter had no idea and decided to just explain what the dish looked like instead of saying "I don't know but I'll find a waiter who does" or something like that. My wife was pregnant and so her food was well done - that waiter could have probably mixed up the dishes which could have been bad. Either way... The taste and creativity makes up for it. But as I said, if they want their michelin star back they need to fix the waiter situation first.

This restaurant offers delicious Italian fare in an elegant setting. The service is attentive but not intrusive. Love the outdoor seating with a view of the piazza!
Lisa D — Google review
I recently dined here, a small and charming restaurant that had some great dishes, as well as a few that were not as enjoyable. The service was friendly, although somewhat inconsistent. The wine menu was interesting. Based in my experience, I would recommend ordering a la carte rather than opting for the tasting menu. Of the dishes I tried, the trottole with rabbit offal ragout, sweetbreads with carrots and ginger, and the smoked eel with beetroot and sour cream were all excellent. The sole with black truffle and Champagne was favorite. If you do decide to try the tasting menu, I would recommend keeping an open mind and being adventurous. The sweetbreads were a surprising and delightful dish, with interesting flavors and a very tender texture. However, I found the lamb and artichoke to be disappointing, as the meat was quite gamey and the artichoke had a strong liver flavor. The timing between courses was also quite slow, especially toward the end of your meal.

Very nice food and the service was great. A friend recommended this place and was not dissapointed!
Suzan K — Google review
Came here with a party of 6, beautiful atmosphere, and food presentation was impeccable. Service and overall taste of food could be better. I loved chicken and the beef tartar, all other dishes she tried were underwelming. The food was nice for taking pictures though!

Pizza Takeout
Pizzeria da Felice is a century-old, family-run pizzeria located in the charming street of via Buia, just around the corner from the church of San Michele. It's a beloved spot among locals and travelers alike, known for its house-specialty focaccia, crepes, and an array of pizzas available for take-out or by the slice. The pizzeria has mastered the art of pizza-making and has become a staple in the community.
Great super thin crust pizza. All with the same margherita base but with option to add salami, salami picante, etc. got the salami picante and loved it. They cut a chunk of pizza for you and weigh it to determine cost. Great option for quick meal or snack.

Great crust, any topping you like. Terrific pizza. We had it our first day in Lucca and never again found it's equal. Be warned, ordering a piece of pizza gets you a plateful of delicious slices.

Pizzeria Da Felice was highly recommend by the host of our apartment, having read the reviews I was a little worried that we wouldn't be welcome as tourists however please ignore the reviews! The staff couldn't haven't been more welcome - we felt so at home and comfortable, everyone was so friendly and most importantly the pizza was delicious ! Thank you so much ❤️

Nice and simple pizzas. Had a whole margherita and a salami mozzarella focaccia for a total of 15.5euros. She politely asked that they prefer cash, unfortunately I didn't have any so paid with card. No idea if I got charged extra or not though.

Delicious, quick lunch at an excellent price (15 euro for two of us, including sodas!) Loved that you could add any toppings to the focaccia and the pizza, and the cechina was great too. Staff very helpful.

Organic farm
Antica Locanda di Sesto is a family-run roadside inn located in the Serchio valley, north of Lucca. With a history dating back almost 650 years, this traditional restaurant offers authentic Tuscan cuisine. The menu features dishes made with locally sourced ingredients including farro, Sorano beans, and produce from the owner's nearby farm. Freshly made pasta, carefully sourced meat, and seasonal vegetables are staples here.
If you’re looking for an upscale traditional Italian restaurant, this place is it. The atmosphere is beautiful, warm and inviting. I had the pumpkin ravioli and the eggplant parmigiana, both were the best I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend making reservations. This was one of my favorite meals of our stay.
Angela G — Google review
In one word—WOW! We stayed in Lucca center and drove 20 minutes to reach the restaurant, set in a beautiful landscape. The restaurant was full of locals, which says a lot. We enjoyed the delicious Bistecca Fiorentina and drank the house wine made by the restaurant owner. The food was perfect, and so was the service. We will definitely come back again!
Sharon S — Google review
The best meal during our few days in Lucca’a area. Traditional dishes, well executed, the freshest ingredients and a very nice atmosphere and service.

I guess it's not gourmet, but the bib gourmand is very well deserved. They serve traditional food, but very delicious, almost perfect and with love. The Red Wine by the owner is amazing. The staff is super friendly. The flair is kinda eleganr And the prices are more than fair. If you are anywhere near Lucca this is a must.
Ernst F — Google review
We recently lunchedat this charming restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the service, which was both good and exceptionally friendly. The 'senatore capelli' spaghetti, while having a very strong cheese flavor, is definitely for those who appreciate a bold taste. The homemade tordelli was delightful, with a well-balanced flavor that left a lasting impression. A standout dish was the tagliata di manzo, which I highly recommend. It was perfectly seasoned with oil, pepper, and a hint of rosemary, making it a must-try for anyone visiting. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with a few standout dishes that cater to different palates.

Phenomenal dinner the food was great you can taste the love they put into there dishes , staff was great never rushing you helping you with picking out something. And the place made you feel at home. If your in the area you must try.

This was our best meal during our week in Tuscany - exceptional food, excellent value for money for the quality, we found it via the Michelin guide but it feels a step above the usual non-starred entries, with touches such as mixing their carbonara in a wheel of cheese at the table. Also a very good and reasonable wine list - we had a lovely bottle for €22.

Ciclo Divino is a trendy wine bar located near the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro in Lucca. The bar's decor features minimalist metal racks holding bicycles, complementing the stylish yet relaxed atmosphere. It offers affordable prices for a variety of wines served with delicious bruschetta by friendly staff. The small space often spills out onto the pavement, providing an authentic after-work experience in Lucca.
Food and wine was perfect! The woman preparing the food was so kind and explained everything she was making. Highly recommend for an apero or dinner
Mimi — Google review
Almost like an East London cafe in Lucca! Suggested by locals (if not probably will try something looks more “Authentic Italian”) best place to chill with wine and indeed it is. Friendly staff that most importantly, knows and loves wine and can show and suggest some good choices they have. I indeed had a great chat with the owner about wine as a topic and is really quite inspiring. (Yes she speaks good English) Food wise I keep thinking of their Tuna-Fennel bite. It’s really the best demonstration- simple food just great ingredients and that works! What’s more? There’s some board games to keep the children busy, so adults can enjoy a relaxing chat. One of the best in our trip!!
Quin C — Google review
What a fun place to hang out and have a light snack with a tasty drink! The bartender was very kind and helpful, and treated us well even though our Italian is not that good. We started out with an aperol spritz (€5) & a beer (IPA, €6) and a few bruschette at €1 each. Those were very fresh and flavorful, so we ordered a few more as well as a great glass of house white wine—which was also very affordable (€2). This place is a standout for relaxing & enjoying the crowds walk by. We are definitely coming back.

Good service and normal prices which is rare for this part of Lucca. Great find. Went on a Thursday and opened at 3pm, so different to time on Google, but don't know if we were just lucky. They have a few toys for kids to play with and interesting decor for the adults to appreciate.. oh, and toilets, which isn't always a given round here!

Gigliola, the vibrant sibling of Il Giglio in Lucca, is a delightful destination for those seeking a unique dining experience. This lively spot boasts an eclectic menu inspired by global cuisines and features an open bakery that showcases its impressive offerings. With a fun atmosphere enhanced by curated music and frequent events, Gigliola is perfect for casual dinners or aperitivo with friends.
One of my favourite restaurants in Lucca! Love the tapas sharing concept and the food is delicious. You pay for the quality. Would recommend booking.

A cozy place with a great food and attentive service, I really enjoyed my dinner, highly recommended! Be aware that while they have few Italian cuisine-inspired plates, most of the dishes are inspired by Middle East, Asia, South America. Few notes/preferences: - I missed in the menu some fresh, green veggie plates. I was looking for some plate to balance out other dishes we chose (carbs) and I couldn’t find any options. - Torta Della Nona was great, but please serve with a knife! The bottom was pretty hard and not possible to cut by fork : D knife is a must!

I had a wonderful dining experience at Gigliola in Lucca. The food was absolutely outstanding, from the fresh ingredients to the creative and flavorful dishes. The wine was also excellent, with a fantastic selection that perfectly complemented the meal. What truly made the evening special, though, was the service. The staff was incredibly attentive and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We went for dinner as a group of 7 people and had a great time at this traditional Tuscan restaurant 🌿. With a super reasonable price of around €20 per person 💶, we’re giving it a solid 8.5/10 ⭐️. Highly Recommended: Focaccia 🫓: Absolutely amazing! Crunchy, flavorful, and freshly baked. We loved it so much that we asked for more even after the waiter had already taken the full order… and he kindly brought it anyway! Tortelli al Ragù 🍝: pasta with a rich, savory ragù — truly authentic, Tuscan-style comfort food. Tiramisù 🍰: Creamy, well-balanced, with a generous touch of coffee and cocoa. The perfect sweet ending. The waiter was super kind and patient 🧑‍🍳, even though we definitely made his job harder with our extra focaccia requests! The place has a warm and cozy rustic vibe — very much in line with the region’s charm 🏡. A great choice if you're visiting Lucca: tasty traditional food, kind service, and honest pricing. A perfect spot to enjoy Tuscan dishes without breaking the bank. We’d absolutely go back! 🍷🍝

My family and I adored this little find. We were right at the witching hour (230pm) when we asked if the kitchen was open (after three knock backs) and they were more than welcoming. There is a small outdoor terrace but we ate inside. Classically italian / european interior - tasteful with nothing over the tip. We had a two antipasti (local salumi) and the ceccina and baccala. Then the roasted tuscan chicken and tagliatelle with porcini. My sone had a plate of perfectly cooked spaghetti in ragu (he loved it). Some local red wine and prosecco to start. More than perfect service and All for 100 euros.

Favorite restaurant so far in Lucca! Located inside the walls, around the corner from Hotel Ilaria, the food, service and ambience were all great. Loved the chicken with melt in your mouth roasted potatoes and the branzino. The pear, walnut and Parm salad with a drizzle of honey was the best we've ever eaten! We are sure to return this week! Grazie mille ai nostri camerieri.

This was the best dinner we had during our stay in Lucca. The food was excellent and they had a great selection of wonderful wines, a lot of them local to the region. We sat outside, which was lovely. It seemed to take them a little while to warm up to us, but the service was quite quick and attentive. Make sure to make a reservation!

Birthday celebration dinner with family. Great service and food. One of our party is celiac and staff were very knowledgeable, with lots of gluten free options available. T-bone steak a real highlight of the meal. For the quality and service, prices were very reasonable.

Piazza Napoleone, also known as Piazza Grande, is a bustling town square in Lucca, Italy. It is bordered by the 1500s Ducal Palace and features a variety of shops and cafes. The square holds historical significance as the center of political power in Lucca and has been a venue for summer concerts.
Piazza Napoleone in Lucca is a vibrant and spacious square that perfectly blends history and festivity. When I visited, the piazza was transformed into a magical Christmas festival, complete with twinkling lights, festive stalls, and a warm holiday atmosphere. The charming market offered unique gifts, delicious treats, and local crafts, making it a delightful experience for all ages. The towering trees adorned with decorations added to the enchantment, and the lively energy of visitors created a cheerful ambiance. Surrounded by Lucca's historic architecture, Piazza Napoleone during the holidays is truly a memorable experience that captures the spirit of the season.

Lucca, a beautiful gem in the Tuscan region of Italy, is a beautiful and unique destination. Handsome Renaissance walls that surround the historic city centre with treed -lined walkways perfect for a morning stroll. There are beautiful churches and cathedrals to visit as well as some incredible Trattorias and cafes to sit and enjoy an espresso. A must visit if you're in Tuscany. Easily accessible by train from Florence and Pisa.

Coffee shop
Caffè Santa Zita is a charming establishment located in Piazza San Frediano, Lucca. The café boasts elegant retro-style interiors and a beautiful garden at the back adorned with lush plants, flowers, and mirrors. It's an ideal spot to start your day with high-quality coffee or cappuccinos made from exquisite single-origin beans. Indulge in delightful pastries like the flower-shaped croissant Giunchiglia or the milk bread sandwich Narciso.
Lovely, stylish cafe with interesting light refreshments menu. We sat outside to enjoy the last autumn sun, but the inside is beautifully decorated and cozy. I had a special coffee with cream and coconut, served in a martini glass (!) and a delicious hummus sandwich, but everything looked delicious. Service was OK, prices above average but totally worth it.
Dan D — Google review
The design and atmosphere of this little caffe is wonderful. Which is what first attracted myself and my other two companions. We were seated in the garden area, on a table that had not been wiped down and still had the spills from previous occupants. We ordered drinks to start with and these were fine. On the small side, compared to what we have encountered so far in Italy. The food? We ordered little tartlets, meatballs, salmon and a selection of 3 cheeses. The food came on a little high tea stand, lovely, it was well presented, the cheeses came on a plate with a tiny fork. The cheeses were supposed to be, pecorino, pecorino with rosemary and pecorino with blue cheese. No small plates were offered to either myself or my companions, no cutlery either. I specifically asked for a knife so that the individual pieces of cheese could be cut to not taint the taste. I asked the waiter to please point out which cheese was the rosemary as it wasn’t apparent by sight. The waiter pointed at a particular serving. Which both myself and my companions tasted and no rosemary could be tasted. The waiter who served us, asked if everything was OK, I advised him no. I advised that no rosemary could be tasted as all three of us love rosemary and this was the only reason we ordered this particular dish., the waiter advised that he would check with the chef. The waiter then came out with more cheese pointing at the rosemary on it, this we could see though could not possible eat any more cheese as we didn’t eat half of what had been provided. The waiter advised us to take it away with us, I advised no, as we do not have capacity to take with us and store it. The waiter took it away. Our experience of this caffe was tainted only by the service. In our experience of all of the restaurants we have visited in Italy on our many trips here, this has far been the worst experience as far as waiters and service go. Never have we encountered an experience like this before anywhere in the world so far. No appropriate cleaning down of the table for new guests. No appropriate cutlery or crockery was delivered or set out. No appropriate explanation of what was on offer and what each dish was. No choice offered when the waiter knew we were not happy. Our experience of this caffe is that whilst the decor is beautifully designed, the staff that served us lowered the standard of the fine establishment. If the service was 5 star like the establishment has marketed itself as in its design then it is worth the prices being charged. Poor service can destroy a reputation of a business over time. Sometimes rapidly. My advice is to avoid this caffe at all costs.
Toni N — Google review
Lovely and classic inside. Especially the internal garden area. Unfortunately, the food is subpar and the service is extremely slow. Been here a couple of times and each time the coffee has come cold and the food has taken very long. I also want to express even when we asked for very hot coffee drinks the second time, the cappuccini still came cold. They seem to be understaffed as someone is always running around. Coffee and food is just ok. Wouldn’t recommend for coffee or food, but perhaps an aperitivo in a cozy spot with a friend or on one of their live music nights.
Greta M — Google review
Caffè Santa Zita is not only beautifully located in the heart of Lucca, but it’s also run by one of the kindest and most professional teams I’ve ever encountered. The staff were welcoming, the service was efficient and warm, and the atmosphere just perfect for a relaxed break. What truly sets them apart, however, goes far beyond great coffee or charming ambiance. I accidentally left my purse at the café and only realized it was missing once I was back in Florence - after having visited multiple places and even cities that day. I wasn’t even sure where to begin searching. As a last hope, I contacted Caffè Santa Zita via WhatsApp… and guess what? They had found my purse! A heartfelt thank you to Michele and the entire staff for keeping it safe and for being so helpful and kind throughout. I couldn’t be more grateful. And what a lovely coincidence that we share the same name - definitely a sign! 😊 Highly recommend this gem of a café - not just for the coffee, but for the people behind it ❤️
Zita L — Google review
5 stars for the place, it looks amazing, but the issue is that the stuff is so annoyed and they all seem mad that they have clients. I haven't seen a single person smiling...
Ronaldina R — Google review
Loved everything about this place! Santa Zita is like an oasis of calmness and style. You only need to enter it to be transported back in time. We had two coffees, one El Salvador specialty and a regular coffee, both very good, as well as two slices of delicious cake.
Viviana M — Google review
This place is a whole experience on itself. I definitely recommend checking it out! They offer a very diverse array of pastry, sandwiches, biscuits, cakes, and lunch dishes. We tried 4 different items and they were all very good! The interior is beautiful and cosy. You can sit on the terrace outside, but also in their little garden in the back. All staff are dressed to impress: they match the vibe of this spot. Be warned however: every 30 seconds they mist the place (this was in July) so your clothing/hair may get damp. A remark regarding the service: There are no translations on the menu card (which is fine) so we tried to look up the different dishes to figure out what they were. The waiter saw us clearly struggling (with our phones and the open menus) yet always quickly came to ask what we wanted while we did not have a clue yet. We felt very rushed: he kept standing there and looking at us expectantly so I just randomly chose. We would have appreciated some patience.
SD — Google review
I would give them 10 stars if possible. The atmosphere is elegant and beautiful. We asked them to choose 2 of their favorite sweet treats we also got 3 sandwiches, the very best cappuccino I have had so far, a Bellini that was made with fresh juice and some sodas for the kids. Everything was stellar and amazing. They also dropped off a tray of snacks. Potato chips, olives and peanuts. We will be back in the morning for another wonderful snack.

Vinarkia Della Pavona is a vintage-glam wine bar and shop that offers a wide selection of Italian wines and zingy cocktails. The cozy interior with heavily beamed ceilings and glossy dark-wood booths creates a welcoming atmosphere, while the outdoor areas are perfect for enjoying drinks in pleasant weather. The owners, Nicola and Rebecca, provide excellent service and are happy to make recommendations.
We quite enjoyed this small but cozy wine bar and restaurant. Small outdoor seating, cozy bar area, a few inside tables, and some garden-like outdoor seating. Friendly staff and several good wine options for under €10 per glass. Also, beer on tap. The food menu is small with only a limited number of options. It get more crowded as it gets later! Of course! We will be back!

Cozy outdoor terrace restaurant with excellent food and local charm A hidden gem in the old town. I had the Eggplant Parmigiana and it was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and perfectly prepared. The recommended red wine from the region paired wonderfully with the dish, and I finished with a refreshing Limoncello. The outdoor terrace was peaceful and inviting; the atmosphere was relaxed. Service was warm and attentive throughout. Price-performance is excellent, especially for such a central location. I would happily come back!

What a great place. The food and cocktails are amazing and affordable, the selection of spirits (tum, Whisky etc) is very impressive! Nice old school / speak easy music in the background is the icing on the cake. The owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. We will be back! Tip: ask for a table in the inside garden, it's beautiful. Go here, you won't regret it!

We absolutely loved this place. We went there almost every evening while in Lucca and we fell in love with the beautiful atmosphere, the romantic garden in the back but most of all with the staff. They made us feel so welcome and we laughed a lot. The cocktails were surprising and delicious, with the Santa Maria and Pomelo Negroni being our favorites. We had the vegetarian board and they were very accommodating to one of us eating vegan. This is a must go when you are in Lucca!

Great place, great atmosphere and interiors, great and friendly service, delicious food and drinks! I took a vegetarian “tagliere” with a selection of grilled veggies and cheeses, a cauliflower flan and tiramisu as dessert. Everything was superb. I come here every time I’m in Lucca and I’ll keep coming :)

Smallest wine pour ever! I paid 15 euro for less than a 4 oz. pour. I said something and they talked to me like I've never ordered a nice glass of wine! Very demeaning and rude. I was ready to stay for drinking and eating for the evening but I let my feet do my talking. I left without spending another penny. This place was completely disappointing! There are too many amazing places in Lucca to waste my time on a place trying to screw their clientele!
Steve C — Google review
We chose Vinarkia fairly spontaneously, but were so glad we did after two hours of wonderful service and fantastic drinks. The team are both welcoming and informed, so if you're coming to take advantage of their wine credentials you won't be disappointed. We were there for a couple of spritz before dinner, and honestly one you've had a couple here you'll realise the difference with the many others you'll be served around town... these are people who care about the drinks they serve. It's also just a brilliant vibe. Great playlist, and lots of opportunity for people watching. The charcuterie boards looked delicious from a distance as well. Were we not here for only a night, we'd be back straight away.

Bar
Franklin'33 is an award-winning cocktail bar known for its talented bartender Marco Macelloni and its expansion to Massa. The bar draws inspiration from the year 1933 when Franklin Delano Roosevelt ended Prohibition in the United States. The ambiance reflects the American 1930s with vintage decor, a smoky atmosphere, and a prohibition-era aesthetic.
The cocktails are excellent! The staff are incredibly sweet people. You need to go a bit early to find a spot outside. We were at Franklin '33 every day while we were in Lucca. Sitting inside is very difficult because of the heat. They need to address this.

A lively cocktail bar off the beat and track a little but we'll worth the search. Great selection of drinks and a very atmospheric environment. Good music playing in the background.

The bar is a bit retreated from the busy shopping street. The atmosphere is dark, chilled, but friendly. We ordered negroni and the "Regina Elizabeta II" (Queen Elizabeth the second). Both are well prepared. I love the colours on the top of my drink. Just looking at it already gives one a delighted mood. The young owners are very friendly and share their ideas and visions with the bar and the city. They serve breakfast daily but closed on Monday - glad that we happened to bump into here on that Sunday night. Definitely we will come by again.

Classic and welcoming cocktail bar where we were given a free selection of meats, cheese and bread. The place looks amazing and the staff were very welcoming, it's slightly off the main streets of Lucca and you could easily think you're heading the wrong way when venturing there, but trust Google maps and enjoy the cocktails. Costs from €8-10 but well worth the price

Italian restaurant
Ristorante Cantine Bernardini in Lucca is a charming dining spot located in the historic Palazzo Bernardini from the late 1500s. The restaurant offers a delightful selection of Tuscan dishes, including stuffed chicken and Florentine beefsteak, served in rustic dining rooms or on a terrace by a plaza. It is also an osteria-enoteca owned by the Bernardini family, offering a variety of wines from their estates.
Ristorante Catina Bernardini, tucked away in the historic heart of Lucca, Italy, offers a dining experience that not only caters to your culinary senses but also nourishes your soul. Its low-key underground dining area is a charmingly rustic nook capable of serving over 16 guests comfortably, making it the perfect venue for special gatherings or a memorable meal with dear friends and family. An evening at Catina Bernardini is an epicurean adventure steeped in authenticity and tradition. They truly live up to the phrase "slow food," encouraging you to savor the experience and take your time with your meal. For our party of 18, we leisurely enjoyed our feast over the span of about 3 hours, but every moment was delightful and never dull. The restaurant's wine selection is superb, boasting an array of top-notch Italian and international wines. Whether you're an oenophile or a casual wine enthusiast, their sommelier is there to guide you through the perfect pairings for your meal. As for the food, it's hard to find the right words to do it justice. Catering for dietary needs is handled seamlessly and respectfully, with an accommodating food allergy menu that didn't skimp on variety or flavor. The homemade gnocchi with tomato, basil, and buffalo mozzarella was a revelation. Each bite was like a warm embrace, the gnocchi's delicate texture paired exquisitely with the rich sauce. The tortellini au gratin, boasting a hearty Bolognese ragu and creamy besciamella sauce, was similarly impressive. Meanwhile, the roast beef of melino, served with a refreshing salad of potatoes and parsley, was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. Vegetarian options shine as well; the grilled eggplant millefeuille with carasau bread, feta cheese, and mint was an intriguing blend of textures and tastes that delighted the palate. Their desserts are another story altogether. The Panna "poco" cotta, adorned with fragole al balsamico, was creamy yet light, the balsamic strawberries providing a tangy counterpoint. The Sorbetti di frutta fresca di nostra produzione secondo mercato was the perfect palate cleanser, with its refreshing and vibrant fruit flavors. The meal culminated with an exquisite cappuccino. Perfectly balanced, the bitter notes of the coffee harmoniously blend with the sweetness of the frothed milk, serving as the ideal full stop to a gastronomic journey. In conclusion, dining at Ristorante Catina Bernardini is a delightful celebration of Italian cuisine. It's not just about the food but the overall experience. The atmosphere, the attentive service, the time taken to savor each course — it all contributes to a dining experience that you'll cherish. To those willing to take the time to enjoy a leisurely, well-crafted meal, I wholeheartedly recommend Catina Bernardini. Their commitment to quality is clear in every aspect, and it's a meal I look forward to reliving.

We're quite picky when it comes to a good cuisine. I'm soo glad that the Google reviews helped us pick a place to eat. I didn't mind staying inside as we didn't book a table on a fairly small terrace. Interior has a nice upper class artsy vibe to it. Service is always a big part of a culinary experience. Each and every person who served us tonight was a professional - friendly attitude and ability to advise. The quality of food served was on a high level. Typical Tuscan rabbit cake, pasta with ragu and also wine. Everything did just simply fit...Hence I'm taking the time to post a review. Thanks to the whole team, we enjoyed every bit of this evening!
Martina S — Google review
Had the crusted artichoke and rabbit pie to start. The Crusted Artichoke was a bit too mushy throughout, although the rabbit pie was pretty good. For mains, we had the fried sea food and the leek tart. The leek tart was good for the first 2 bites, but it was so sweet and overwhelming we simply couldn't continue eating it. The fried sea food was very similar - everything, including the veg, was covered in batter and there was no flavour variation. You were being hit with the same strong and overwhelming flavours on repeat. The problem with both dishes is they had nothing to balance them, no sides of any sort - we thought we may have ordered incorrectly (and missed ordering sides) but both dishes were recommended by the staff as-is. The restaurant itself created a very nice ambiance and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. It's a real shame the food was such a let down.

Another wonderful experience at this fabulous restaurant in Lucca! We had a gathering here the night before our wedding in 2017 and it was so perfect we had to come back and visit again. A random choice as I wrapped up visiting the botanical garden and was hungry. Noticed the lovely spot as I was walking along the wall and decided to give it a try. I ordered 2 antipasti items for my lunch and they were both incredible! The roasted heirloom carrots with fresh herbs and cream sauce was insanely good. Top notch. And the fried pecorino with pear, honey and cinnamon coulis was decadent yet not heavy. Wish I was visiting Lucca longer as I would love to return for dinner!

We had drinks and wanted to have lunch but the lady staff is not that welcome us to order food except pizza with funny reasons. Then when our drinks were served, the man waiter spilled my drink on the table and knocked our chips bowl so hard until the chip fell out with little expression of ‘sorry’ and not even bother to pick up that chip!!! Not recommended this place at all. Pity that its such a nice setting.

We came in hoping to enjoy a few drinks and a good time. While we were promptly seated, the staff then completely ignored us for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, tables that arrived after us received immediate attention. It genuinely felt like if you're American, you're welcome, but if you're European, you're invisible. Another example of a beautiful Italian location with very poor staff and service. Very disappointing. We won’t be coming back.

Nestled in the charming town of Lucca, De Cervesia Pub is a delightful homage to the region's rich brewing history that dates back to the 1840s. Opened by Michele and Matteo Sargenti in June, this unique bottle shop and bar aims to revive local traditions with a focus on craft beer.

Beers on tap are never mainstream and are always on rotation. On top of that, there's a great selection of bottled/canned ones. It's not a pub, just get a beer and stand outside -or seat if you're lucky- and talk to people since there's a good vibe with local folks, from 1700 until 2300. Pints are 5€

Lively place in Lucca, one of the few I found on a Sunday night especially as many places were closed. Range of Italian craft beer to try and helpful staff as they tried to help me find somewhere to have dinner as well. They had serie A playing on the TV so you might be able to catch a match here. Originally, you would need a 2€ deposit to drink out of their glasses but I wasnt subject to this. Just a bit of a pity because glass is always better than plastic so please do yourself a favor!

Fattoria Sardi Giustiniani is a charming countryside estate that welcomes visitors to indulge in their organic wines paired with expertly crafted dishes by chef Damiano Donati. The rustic setting provides the perfect backdrop for savoring authentic Tuscan cuisine, such as the flavorful costata steak and traditional ossobuco. Owner Jacopo Giustiniani has created a neighborhood treasure that offers a warm welcome and an extensive tour of their winemaking process.
This was a magical place for us. The appartment was very comfortable with enough space and all equipment for the daily life. We were greated warmly, were informed about organisatorical details immediately and received prompt replies to any question. The appartment is located in a stunning location overlooking vineyards and some minutes drive out of Lucca. We enjoyed a great wine tasting including a walk over the wineyards and learned a lot about the local wines and the whole process. Furthermore we attended a private cooking class. The winetasting and cooking class were super individual and done with a lot of fun and passion. Overall it was an amazing stay and we can only recommend to stay there.

We came to Fattoria Sardi for a wine tasting tour. Matteo, our guide, was most pleasant, knowledgeable, and inspiring. We saw the wine fields, the production site, and finished in the modern tasting room. Here we tasted five of the wines. They were all extraordinarily elegant and interesting. We left with a wonderful experience and a lot more wisdom about wine. Thanks to Fattoria Sardi, and thanks to Matteo.

We had a short but informative tour followed by a wonderful meal. The food was of excellent quality, fresh, with wonderful flavors. It was a beautiful evening. If I lived closer, I would eat here frequently.

Good food, providing you actually like what’s on offer because the menu is set, do you better check fist. The menu is set for specific reasons which chiefly are based on the locally available bio products at zero-km. There are dishes available for children, in case. The setting is very nice on a summer evening, amongst the vineyard and the old farm.

A beautiful location with great comfortable appartment / Villa with shared pool. Lovely welcome, a couple of broken items not pointed out but very comfortable beds. The Restaurant taster menu was excellent with great staff and beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed a breakfast basket also from there. It was very tranquil and peaceful. The negative is that getting around was difficult. Taxis were scarce so getting into the city was difficult.

Frattoria Sardi is truly exceptional in every way. They hosted our son’s wedding at Villa Renaissance, and from start to finish, the experience was nothing short of magical. We began with a beautiful Welcome Winery Tour, where the staff shared their passion for the vineyard and the winemaking process, setting the perfect tone for the celebrations to come. That evening, we enjoyed an unforgettable dinner featuring exquisite local cuisine and their incredible wines, a true taste of Tuscany. Elena was absolutely fantastic—her warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail made every moment seamless. Every aspect was perfectly executed, from the breathtaking winery setting to the thoughtfully curated menu. The staff went above and beyond to make our family and guests feel welcome, cared for, and celebrated. Frattoria Sardi is more than a venue—it’s an unforgettable experience we will cherish forever.

One of the best wine tasting experiences I have ever had across the world. The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. The winemakers respect for their craft shows as the wines are truly exceptional.

Fattoria Sardi is our favourite place to eat in Lucca. Set in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, the location is stunning—especially in the summer when everything is in full bloom, but it’s equally cosy and welcoming in the winter months. The service is always warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. And the food? That’s what keeps us coming back. The menu changes monthly, always offering something fresh, seasonal, and creative. Every dish celebrates local ingredients and the chef’s talent for combining tradition with innovation. A true gem, and one we recommend to everyone visiting Lucca.

Nestled among the charming old stone and brick structures of Piazza del Salvatore, Enoteca Vanni is not just a wine shop; it’s an immersive experience for any wine enthusiast. As you step inside this quaint establishment, you'll be greeted by dark wood shelves brimming with bottles from every corner of Italy.
Wow. Wow! Don’t miss this place. Truly an enoteca, with only light bites more than a large menu, but a wildly cool wine and global spirits cellar downstairs. Their attached wine shop has a cavernous downstairs, with some comfortable seating, a place for wine tastings (that require booking far in advance during busy season!), and an astounding collection. Don’t miss! We sat down for aperitif at 5pm, but there was quickly a waiting line by 6pm.

Stumbled across this place and am so happy we sat down. I wanted a good steak tartare this strip and they had an excellent one on the menu. The wines were beautiful, and the lady who served us was great at giving recommendations. One of our top meals/experiences in Lucca, and this isn't our first trip there. We will be back!

I recently had a wine tasting at Enoteca Vanni and I strongly recommend the place for all wine lovers. The service and kindness of people is outstanding, as well as the wine selection and the availability of best vintages of f the best wines from Italy, France and Spain with particular attention to Supertuscan and Brunello di Montalcino selections. Definitely a must visit place in Lucca if you love wine.

Next to the wine store they have a small restaurant. They serve great wines by the glass or you can choose a bottle in the wine store and drink it on the terrace. We went there to visit the cellar underneath the wine store and have lunch afterwards. Great place, very friendly staff and the food was delicious.

Great spot for wine and socializing. The beef tartare was surprisingly good!

Great experience at this restaurant! Ask to go down in the cellar to sit and see their wide selection of wines and liquors from around the world. They have two or three separate rooms where wine tastings occur. Make reservation for dining.

AMAZING. Great wine recommendation based on my desires. Charcuterie board was the best in Lucca. Music was delightful. I could not have asked for a better experience!

Killer spot for natural wine in Lucca. Staff is rad and the wine selections are diverse and exceptional. While we did not stay for dinner but the cheeses were pretty well selected as well. Lovely location in a great piazza. Did not see the cellar but I can’t wait to get back and explore some deep cuts.

Cocktail bar
Nestled in the charming northern part of Lucca's old town, Dal Bardo is a delightful cocktail bar that captures the essence of Italian aperitivo culture. With its vintage-tiled counter and rustic brick walls adorned with an impressive array of liqueurs and mixers, this spot invites you to unwind.
This is the best bar in Lucca for before or after dinner. Best place to watch people, talk to some locals. During weekend, make sure you call them and reserve a table. The cocktail menu is yummy… I wish I could drink all of them. The wine selection is excellent too. I tried a bunch of drinks trust me they all are amazing! During my entire 9 days stay in Lucca , I went to this bar every evening… mainly because of the amazing friendly and professional team of the bar… Vittori, Syrah, Michael , Armen and Roberto. They all went above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable.

Dal Bardo in Lucca is an amazing spot to enjoy delicious food and drinks in a vibrant and lively atmosphere. The place is full of energy, with great music and a fun crowd that makes the experience even better. The service is excellent, and the staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring everything runs smoothly. We truly enjoyed our time here the food was flavorful, the drinks were great, and the whole vibe of the place made it one of the highlights of our visit to Lucca. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun night out with great food and good energy!

One of the better bars in Lucca, electric interior and lively terrace. Good cocktails & appetitive drinks with free snacks. Fast and attentive service.

Dal Bardo was one of our favourite bars for aperitivo. Based on the north side of town near our hotel it attracts a lot of locals and has indoor and outdoor seating. Aperol Spritz is always my favourite and at only €4, they were a bargain! The bar also offers complimentary aperitivo. This started off with crisps, nuts, crackers and bread and then out came delicious meat and cheeses! Usually bars will alternate the products through the evening and you can help yourselves. It is polite to always have a drink though!

Pretty ordinary. We were seated at a table, then asked to move as they had accepted a booking of 20+ and wanted our table. The offered table was next to a rubbish bin. We asked to move. Then the group arrived and took over the sidewalk and stood over us at our table (and other people). Very uncomfortable for us and any one trying to use the footpath. Then I had trouble paying as the barman decided it wasn’t his job. Mind you he did serve and take money off a friend whilst I waited. And then he finally decided to step up... pretty pathetic.

Pizzicheria La Grotta is a charming restaurant located near the main square, with ample outdoor seating. The establishment resembles an old-fashioned grocery store filled with high-quality products. Guests are served bread in a bag while waiting for their food, adding to the delightful experience. The menu features delicious options such as focaccia with colonnata lard and focaccia with finocchiona. Visitors appreciate the authentic and honest food, along with the attentive and friendly staff.
Finally a restaurant that's not a tourist trap! Great, honest food, super friendly staff and management that "has their eye on the ball". You know the place is good when the two other restaurants next to it have half the customers than it does. Service was swift and without fuss and when the food came, I was steaming hot and as tasty as it gets! The Fettuccine ai funghi porcini set a new standard of excellence for me - simple and unpretentious with plenty of mushrooms and a pleasant creamy yet light sauce. The pizza was another hit - great crunchy thin crust, super sweet passata and beautiful melty mozzarella di bufala and fresh basil. The view from the restaurant is also very nice, with the surrounding piazzetta and some artsy sculpture nearby. Unfortunately we didn't have time to stay for dessert as our parking time was about to expire and we had to opt for Gelato on the go.

Nestled just a stone's throw from Piazza San Michele, Osteria da Pasqualino Gubitosa is a charming eatery that embodies the essence of Tuscan cuisine. With its inviting outdoor seating and cozy ambiance, this restaurant offers an authentic dining experience. The passionate owner, Pasquale, not only serves up seasonal dishes crafted with high-quality ingredients but also shares his extensive knowledge of wine pairings to enhance your meal.
This is my favourite restaurant of our whole trip through Tuscany by far. The food was exquisite- full of flavour - including fresh fish, pasta, risotto and seasonal vegetables, plus delicate desserts - just perfect! The local Lucca olive oil is something special and the wines are all personally selected by Pasquale himself who’s generous with his time and attention to his guests - he really cares about the experience. Highly recommended - if you can get a table, just go!

We’ve now been to Da Pasquale three times in the past year and a half and even took a detour on our previous trip just to eat here because we simply love this restaurant. The food is always a delight: fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared, creative but never overdone. Every dish tastes honest and authentic, truly Italian and at the same time refined. We especially want to highlight the service: warm, attentive, and personal — and Pasquale himself is just a unique and very cool guy! 🙂 You don’t just feel welcome here; you feel genuinely appreciated as a guest. The wine selection is also outstanding! And if you’d like, you can take a piece of Italy home with you by buying some of their excellent products such as olive oil or pasta. If you’re in Lucca or nearby, don’t miss Da Pasquale. For us, it’s the perfect restaurant!

I wish I could rate more than 5 stars. This is now my favorite restaurant in the world. Pasquale and his staff are passionate and take a lot of pride in the food and drink. Everything is of the highest quality and the food is made with love and unique combinations. Even the olive oil on the table for your bread was picked and pressed the day before! It was AMAZING! The hubby and I had to order the seafood pasta because it had oranges in it. It was delicious. Of course I was talking to the table next to us and they ordered the white ragù and said it was amazing. We also ordered the octopus salad which was yummy and the chocolate Pudding for dessert. It was a molten chocolate cake and delicious. I live this place and it is a must for an authentic Italian osteria. Thank you

Last week we had dinner at Pasquale's. We tried to make a reservation on the day itself, but he said it was the busiest day of the year and he was completely full. However, he said he would contact me later that evening if a table became available. And sure enough, he called to say there was a table for two! We were given a special spot outside in peace and quiet, where Pasquale and his team welcomed us and our spouses. We drank the most beautiful wine of the whole week here, a monthly personal recommendation on the menu. The food was also perfectly prepared for both of us. My girlfriend's veal was initially cooked a little too long, but this was quickly resolved and the team ensured that everything ran smoothly. This is a must if you are in Lucca, don't hesitate to book well in advance! Pasquale and team: thank you for the unforgettable (white) evening! Sven & Luz

Great choice for our last night in Lucca. Our steak was amazing and the staff very friendly and genuinely caring. The complimentary cannolis and glass of Prosecco were a lovely touch leaving us with very happy memories. Thank you so much Pasquale and team

Before our trip I spent considerable time reading reviews and recommendations for restaurants along the way. I am so very thankful to others for reviews about Osteria da Pasquale!!! We were a group of 7, so we needed advance reservations. Pasquale was very accommodating to my request and corresponded very effectively to confirm our reservation. I highly recommend you make a reservation in advance. This was probably my very favorite restaurant of my trip. And we ate at many fantastic restaurants. Pasquale is an incredible owner and so friendly and happy to the guests. We booked an outside table and the weather decided to be uncooperative. Pasquale was able to move our large group inside. Thankfully his new location had enough room! (he doesn't fully book the tables because he expects a great experience for the guests, so there are some empty seats that will not be filled) The scallops were incredible. Don't pass them up! The fettuccine with prawns as well. And the panna cotta was amazing. Other pictured items were from our other friends and they all raved about their food too. Wine selections were provided by Pasquale, and you should go with his recommendations. Delicious! Just when you can't eat or drink anything else, Pasquale comes by with some digestives. All of us were so over the top after this, it was an entertaining walk back to the hotel. Simply amazing and Highly Recommended!

A fantastic place to eat in Lucca. The food was wonderful and Pasquale made sure that the wine paired perfectly. The restaurant is one of those places that you don’t want to leave when you’re finished your meal. Can’t recommend it enough. If you plan on eating there, make sure you book a table as a walk up is very unlikely to happen. Thanks again to all of the team!

We stumbled across this location in Lucca when looking for a special place for dinner on our last night. What an absolute find! From the welcome prosecco to the delicious soup, quality tartar and tasty seafood pasta to start to the mains of duck, fried cod, baked sea bass and veal which were spectacular to the delicious Borolo, it was wonderful. Dessert with a complementary meloncello was a perfect end. The staff are top notch, happy to serve and make your experience memorable. Pasquale himself is a gem! A true passion for wine is evident and the generosity of spirit is palpable. I highly recommend!

The Osteria Baralla is a centuries-old Tuscan restaurant with vaulted brick rooms and a terrace that overlooks Piazza Anfiteatro. The atmosphere is authentic and welcoming, with good service and delicious local cuisine.
Our group of 6 enjoyed a lovely evening at Osteria Baralla last night to celebrate a birthday. We were welcomed by the friendly Jonathan who was an excellent host. All the food was great, with the highlight being the bistecca florentine steak which was fabulous. A complimentary dessert for the birthday guest was a nice touch from the lovely and friendly waitress, Aurora. Overall, this Osteria is a fantastic choice if you’re visiting Lucca, highly recommend.

Walked past this place when visiting Lucca and it looked nice. They reserved a table for us outside to eat there that same evening. The staff were friendly, the prices were reasonable and the food arrived in good time. It tasted very fresh and it was very enjoyable. I would eat here again if I go back to Lucca.

Really nice place well located in Lucca, we chose it as we wanted something different than pizza and pasta and it had some good options. We ended up having the beef with polenta and the rabbit stew. The food came really quick (5-10 mins) and it was really tasty. Prices were normal (under 20€ for one meal). The tiramisu was also good and the staff is friendly. I would recommend.
Antonio S — Google review
Fantastic place, the staff squeezed us in even though they were extremely busy with a large group booking and looked after us well. The food was fantastic, fresh and authentic dishes which tasted excellent. The tiramisu was quite possibly the best I've ever had and the traditional filled pasta had such a rich flavour and texture.

Amazing wee restaurant. Well priced for big portions - I got a massive plate of beef carpaccio to start, and the beef stew was really good. Well worth a visit.
Andrew M — Google review
Maybe they were having an off night. The general atmosphere was chaotic – it was not warm or relaxed. We were first greeted by a grumpy and curt old dude (the owner?) with no smile or charm when we walked into the restaurant. That was the first sign that we should have left and found another place for dinner. Our waitress was totally disinterested. She interacted with us robotically as if it were her last night working there. There seemed to be no communication between the wait staff and the kitchen/prep. The old dude occasionally yelled at them both. People at other tables were served their entrées one at a time and many minutes apart versus all being served at the same time. The food was unremarkable. Do yourself a favor and walk on by this place and find a more joyful and pleasant place for dinner. We were there in mid-September 2025

Trattoria da Leo is a historic restaurant in Lucca, Italy, known for its delicious local dishes and Tuscan cuisine. The family atmosphere adds a magical touch to the place, making it a favorite among locals. Located in the heart of the old city, this trattoria offers affordable and delectable food in an authentic Tuscan setting. It's popular for its generous portions and hearty meat dishes, attracting both locals and tourists seeking an authentic dining experience.
Insanely good food. Not a single pizza on the menu. Only two pasta dishes. This is the other side of italian food. Get the aubergine. When you go to pay, get a standing espresso.

Just steps from Via Fillungo, Trattoria Da Leo offers a genuine Tuscan experience with traditional dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. Open year-round and family-run since 1946 or 1949 (?) the trattoria is known for its home-style cooking, including classics like Zuppa di Farro and Tortelli Casalinghi. Friendly staff, fair prices, and a warm setting make it a great spot to enjoy local cuisine in the center of Lucca. The food was great, but could have been a bit warmer.

If the clientelle are local and range from young families to elderly couples, you know you are eating in a well loved restaurant. This was the case when we ate at the da Leo . Reminded me of the family run Les Routies of France. Good tasty regional food , well prepared, and generous portions . We were not disappointed. The entree was a mixture of hams, cheese, and olives .Fresh and ample for 2 people. This was followed by spinach Ravioli with a beautiful homemade pumpkin sauce. My wife chose the pasta with rabbit and olives, again made from fresh ingredients and certainly meaty. Had ordered the ribs and potatoes after seeing the neighbouring tables meal, but at this point, I was full so the waiter kindly cancelled the order. A tiramisu was the crowning glory to the meal. My wife commented that it was the best she had eaten all week We had the house red and white, which again was most acceptable . The waiter spoke perfect English, and the menu came in both languages, which helped the tourist who were there that evening. Go there or you will miss the chance to eat like a Tuscan does.

For it was just a convenient place to meet friends for a few drinks, but the service and drinks (with snack) were good and the host cheerful and informative. Well worth a stop by if you have a little time to spare.

After visiting the duomo, this is the place to get a glass of wine and a salami (of wild boar, typical regional) cheese platter. Unique dining experience in the heart of Lucca. This was one of the 3 places ChatGPT recommended we pick for lunch on our day trip to Lucca from Florence. Amazing find! Decor - interesting, to say the least. Let me just say there’s a lot to look around and absorb. Service - incredible. Food - amazing. Several unique dishes that we have not tasted before - across all 20 days or so around Italy over the last two trips. Go with the recommendations, the menu is difficult to read but the suggestions are spot on. Don’t skip desserts - specially the complex ice cream / peach filling / sponge cake on top, and the one they referred to as Ferraro Rocher but is immensely more flavorful.

Place is very loud and small and full of phallus decoration as this is the gimmick of the place. Didn't like my food much, ordered polenta with fried pork. Desert i chose biscuits with vin santo. Recommended for couple of friends to have fun, drink. It wasn't good choice for me sadly. But service is fast and very attentive.

Avoid! Totally overrated restaurant but if you like wooden carved cocks to heavy metal music this is the place for you. The pasta was just very simple and fat. Don’t eat here if you like Italian food.

Shockingly our favorite place so far after traveling through Venice and a few other places along the way. Food and service was amazing, lots am of personality, great energy and very entertaining within the eclectic cockville. I would be a regular if we lived here. You'll forget the other restaurants you visited along the way, this one you'll talk about for years to come.

Nestled in the charming Piazza Antelminelli, Undici Undici is a delightful gem that perfectly captures the essence of Lucca. This vibrant eatery boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, enhanced by its beautifully renovated decor that pays homage to both historical elegance and modern flair. With an enticing traditional Tuscan menu that features daily specials, diners can indulge in local favorites like Tagliata con Rucola while enjoying a carefully curated selection of wines.
I’ve only visited Lucca for a few hours and this place caught my attention. Right next to the Duomo but not too crowded. I had a cheese and salami platter, a coffee and a tiramisu (approx 25 euros).

Service is fast with attentive to the customers. My husband dropped his knife to the floor & the guy at the bar came to ask if he needs a new one. We didn’t wait very long for our orders to be served. I like my Tuna tartar but wish that should be more veggies as the fish is smoked and caper pesto is tasty (but good) so it should be more salad to help with salty flavour.

Step two blocks back from Piazza Napoleon to this cute local restaurant. Food, service is excellent. Locals and students eat here and the food is quintessential Lucciese (Hope I spelt that correctly) If you are in Lucca, give it a try!

This became our favorite place to get a Spritz or cocktail in Lucca and we went there several times on our trip. We felt very welcome by the lovely staff and after a week felt like regulars! Undici undici is on a pretty piazza in front of the Duomo di San Martino, facing the church and a fountain. It has ample shade from two huge umbrellas. The atmosphere there is friendly, and the clients a mix of locals and tourists. Prices are very reasonable. We ate their twice - not because the food is awesome (it's a little hit or miss, if I'm honest about it), but because the experience is so very good. The tacos from the Bistro menu were a hit as was (criminally) the hamburger, when I was craving something other than "traditional" food. It's bar food, and viewed through that lens it's good. It's not going to top a Michelin starred spot - but it also costs a lot less. What made this place heavenly for us were three things: the very friendly and amicable staff, who treated us so well. The fantastic drinks - perhaps the best Spritz and Negroni in Lucca. The dreamy location, in the day, or even better, at night. Watching the moon rise in the square was unforgettable. I miss you already, my Undici friends!

Historical place, renovated in decor honoring the taste and elegance of the past and of the present; beautiful wooden furniture, atmospheric lighting. Traditional Tuscan menu with new proposals every day, good wine selection. Young and festive atmosphere; evenings with frequent live music. Staff cool and polite, friendly and prepared. It could be easy to miss this restaurant as it’s quite a small place with just a few tables. The menu is concise but there’s something to suit everyone. The ravioli of the day was simple yet perfect. Dessert was homemade plum cake served with ice cream, just enough to leave you wanting more. I would definitely recommend a visit here if you like fresh home cooked traditional food. Loved it

All around the best meal I've had in Italy! I'm not exaggerating: The freshness of the ingredients comes thru in the bread, drinks and main dishes. 10/10, would recommend!! We were staying just outside the city walls, and saw the great reviews. In a town of tourists, it's charm is that it ISNT touristy. We arrived early (1900) w a toddler and sat outside in the shade. The restaurant was not busy and the service was impeccable. The menu isn't expansive, but every dish is one of kind, made on the spot and the chef only uses fresh ingredients.

Charming little ‘hole in the wall’ with great wine list, a few cocktails and well made, straightforward Italian food. Great place for aperitivo or just hanging out in the calmer part of central Lucca.

This cozy, warm and welcoming restaurant is worth the wait. The staff were super nice, attentive, and know how to prepare food. I wanted some comfort food, and that's exactly what I received. The burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly, served with a small side salad, and potatoes. The burger bun was soft and light and had cheese, onions, and tomato. The salad was dressed with a light oil and came with tomatoes and carrot shavings. The fries were delicious and not oily or heavy. All the menu items were reasonably priced. A very satisfying dinner, comfortable atmosphere, and delicious food -- the perfect ending to a day of travel and the beginning of our stay in Lucca.

Caffè Nelli is a vibrant spot that perfectly blends the charm of a café with the lively atmosphere of a cocktail bar. Located just outside the historic city walls, it’s known for its eye-catching cocktails served in oversized goblets and an inviting ambiance that attracts locals, especially twentysomethings. The outdoor seating area buzzes with energy as patrons enjoy affordable aperitivi while belting out karaoke or dancing to DJ sets on select nights.
Cocktails and long drinks are very good - maybe the best Mojito I’ve had so far. Usually pretty crowded late night, but people mind their own business and that’s very nice. You feel like home.

Picture this: you’ve been traveling with a two year old for the last 24 hours and you get into the area with no more milk, which he always drinks before bed. The problem, you arrive around 11pm so all the grocery stores are closed. Despite some fight from the toddler, he falls asleep. Until 2:30 am when he screams louder than ever before (which you didn’t know was possible) and you are scrambling to find milk SOMEWHERE. No mini marts, nothing. Suddenly you remember that places with coffee usually have milk and -tada!!- Caffé Nelli is .5 km away. You go in, they speak English! Hooray! And their answer to the key question, “do you have milk?” Becomes the highlight of your visit to Italy so far. You pay a very reasonable price and they give you the goods. Fantastic! Wonderful! I am so grateful that they are open late and had exactly what I needed!!

(Translated by Google) The very narrow alley where the restaurant is located is really nice. The place is nice but a little too spartan, I found it a little "untidy" I would tidy up the furnishings a bit and I would make more use of the good choice of wine for example for a good platter in the afternoon while you are walking around the historic center of Lucca. The owner is knowledgeable and will certainly know how to make the most of his place (as I understand it has been open for about 1 year) (Original) Il vicolo strettissimo in cui si trova il locale è veramente carino. Probably the worst burger I have ever had. I'm not even mad, I was utterly impressed to see how a simple burger can be ruined. The service was bad too. If you like crowded bars that are so full you have to stand in the street, then you will love this place. You can't really complain too much, because at least they have bands which is unfortunately way too rare in Lucca. The city of music that doesn't have any friggin music! I'll have to check it out when it's not so crowded as well. Edit 15.2.2019 - I really don't like this place. It is always overcrowded, the crowd is always rude, they push and shove and frequently become violent. This place is just not safe and not fun to go to. The menu is full of interesting dishes, with a wide selection of first courses, second courses, and sandwiches, all truly excellent and super filling! The fries deserve a special mention: cooked healthily, light, and flavorful just right, without that greasy heaviness often found elsewhere. Being vegetarian, I'd like to point out that the menu offers several super tempting options for us too! You can sense so much passion and care in the preparation of the food, reminiscent of the old-fashioned way. The cocktails are definitely the highlight: there's something for everyone! Bar Pasticceria Elisa is a charming spot in Lucca known for its delightful pastries and perfect cappuccinos. The old-world ambiance adds to the experience, making it a very Italian place with classic style cakes that transport you back to the 1930s. Although there are no toilet facilities, the lovely couple working at the counter adds to the overall charm of this establishment. It's definitely worth a visit when in Lucca for some nice cakes and coffee.
The pastries were light and beautiful. The cappuccinos were perfect and the lovely couple working the counter were absolutely delightful.

Bistro
Cocktail bar
Sunflower offers a great selection of panini, focaccia and crepes with a variety of fillings all priced between 4-7 Euros. Their Caprese salad (tomato and mozzarella) was delicious, while their San Frediano piadini (salami and fontina cheese) was more than adequate. Overall, a great bistro for affordable meals in the heart of Baricentro.
Great place to have a coffee or a quick lunch. Staff was very friendly and served quickly. Location, on the piazza in front of the basilica San Frediano, is incredible. Quite an expansive menu, with good nutritional information on it too.

It’s a cute little tour square but don’t expect the best quality food. If you’re looking for avo toast, or any kind of breakfast protein, forget about it.
Chris G — Google review
Amazing little bistro on a small plaza, perfect for a coffee and a pastry. Delightful service and good vibes.
Paul H — Google review
A favorite cafe with outdoor tables just below the wonderful byzantine style inspired medieval era mosaic of chiesa San Frediano.

Just walking around we found this place and stopped for breakfast, it was a indeed great. They served fresh warm brioche which was yummy. They have seating outside facing the piazza and it was quite relaxing.
Aravind R — Google review
I really enjoyed having a cocktail here. Along with it I was given a free plate of appetisers, which was great. But the best thing was the service, which was very friendly and personable.
John P — Google review
Extremely rude service. The manager arrived to my table and angrily confronted me about sitting too long while ordering a pastry and a drink. He literally presented me with my check (without request), showing me a time stamp of the time I ordered, claiming I'm occupying the table (there were 2 empty tables near me). That's although it's a Cafe, and taking your time with your morning coffee is not out of the ordinary. Stay away!
Assaf L — Google review
Had the best refreshing gin tonic and great glass of wine, coupled with a fabulous appetizer tray included as part of our drinks, which was a nice unexpected surprise. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Bar Del Sole Di Marcone Monica is a delightful neighborhood café that exudes warmth and friendliness, making every visitor feel like part of the family. Run by Monica and her husband, this charming spot is perfect for coffee lovers, offering brews reminiscent of those from Cafe del Teatro, owned by Monica's father. The atmosphere is inviting; patrons are often greeted with smiles and even their furry friends receive special treatment with water and doggy biscuits.
Loved this place! Stopped in during the afternoon for spritzes and were served lovely snacks on the side for free. Came back in the morning and coffee was amazing! Would recommend, the staff is super friendly as well.

Wonderful local spot for coffee and aperitivo. We stayed in Lucca for two nights and visited four times because it was so charming and the staff were incredibly friendly.

Lovely little bar down the side street. I was recommended the Ventura spritz, now my absolute favourite spritz! We were very welcomed and our dog got water and a doggy biscuit. Great other drinks selection accompanied with snacks such as crisps, mini savoury pastry and mini pizza. Grazie mille🤌

This place is a neighborhood cafe. Everyone that comes in is greeted as a friend. Monica and her husband were super friendly and we made it our coffee place to go every time we were in that area of town. We took a cooking class with Novella and she turned out to be friends with Monica. Their coffee is great, like the one at Cafe del Teatro run by Monica’s dad, Ciro. Extremely recommended.

Venturi spritz is amazing. Try it instead of aperol spritz

Sunshiney place that lives up to its name! :) A place run by owners who care about their food an customers. Monica and Ernesto are warm, helpful and greet everyone who walks in with the same joy - thus the name, Bar Del Sole. Their sunny disposition also translates to their food and service. Seating is in the corner cafe or inside the old Mercato (market) which is very cool inside. They have won best coffee competitions and their pastries were fresh and delicious. Reasonable prices for seat at table - 5 euro for 2 coffees and pastries. Although we only stopped in for a coffee and pastries but we'll remember their hospitality and energy forever. Really lovely people, delicious coffee and food. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to get away from the tourist crowd and take break somewhere cool and quiet. Thanks, Grazie Mille, Monica and Ernesto!

(Translated by Google) Great courtesy and professionalism of the owner. For the first time we tried a cutting board. Everything of excellent quality, from cured meats to cheeses. A true marvel, flavors that are difficult to find around. The spritz is also very good! To be repeated...the curiosity to try the wines remains.
