Trattoria da Giulio is a historic spot in Lucca, offering traditional Tuscan pasta and meat dishes along with daily specials. With almost half a century of history, it has evolved from a small venue to a renowned osteria known for its well-made farinata and rosticciana. The menu celebrates the gastronomic tradition of Lucca, featuring typical soups, filled pasta like tortelli lucchesi al ragu, and an array of meat dishes.
Outstanding food and atmosphere. All the courses were excellent and a nice selection of wines. The Tiramisu is heavenly and the best in Lucca. Highly recommend making a reservation since they are always busy.
Suzanna M — Google review
Heard to check this place out by a local who said the food is cheap, tasty and beautiful scenery as it’s under the wall. We came here with some friends we made at a winery and we were all satisfied! Portions couldn’t bigger, but the flavours were good and it was nice. The service was a bit slow, but that’s ok since it was busy. Nothing to really rave about, but we weren’t disappointed.
Nikki M — Google review
When we came for lunch all the tables on the terrace were taken. So we were offered a table inside, our waitress Sarah was effervescent and happy to serve, and suggested daily specials. The service was very good. The noise was a bit distracting (a few crying babies), but we could still talk (4 🌟 for atmosphere).
Yelena K — Google review
Veramente Buono - Really Great Food! Have to say, really good restaurant with depth in flavor. I ordered the Tortelli al Ragu, the Cotoletta Lucca style (with tomatoes and Capperi) and a Creme Brulee. Honestly very impressed by the flavor and quality of the dishes, Complimenti!
Marco C — Google review
This restaurant is packed with people indoors and outside we were there Saturday night (of course). Foods are phenomenal I ordered the veal its quite salty from the green olive but yummy, hubby ordered the cod we loved it. The night dinner closed with Tiramisu thank you for not making it very sweet. Good quality food!!!
Erna L — Google review
This treasure was recommended by a friend who knows Lucca very well. It was a fabulous choice. We were able to request a table outside in this novel setting. Lovely service, delicious food and house wine. Try it!!

We just adore this place: kindness service and so tasty dishes! Atmosphere was like in the dream or in film. Our cod with leeks and ravioli were wonderful. Thank you!

Trattoria da Leo is a historic restaurant in Lucca, Italy, known for its delicious local dishes and Tuscan cuisine. The family atmosphere adds a magical touch to the place, making it a favorite among locals. Located in the heart of the old city, this trattoria offers affordable and delectable food in an authentic Tuscan setting. It's popular for its generous portions and hearty meat dishes, attracting both locals and tourists seeking an authentic dining experience.
Insanely good food. Not a single pizza on the menu. Only two pasta dishes. This is the other side of italian food. Get the aubergine. When you go to pay, get a standing espresso.
Robert D — Google review
Just steps from Via Fillungo, Trattoria Da Leo offers a genuine Tuscan experience with traditional dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. Open year-round and family-run since 1946 or 1949 (?) the trattoria is known for its home-style cooking, including classics like Zuppa di Farro and Tortelli Casalinghi. Friendly staff, fair prices, and a warm setting make it a great spot to enjoy local cuisine in the center of Lucca. The food was great, but could have been a bit warmer.
Albert K — Google review
If the clientelle are local and range from young families to elderly couples, you know you are eating in a well loved restaurant. This was the case when we ate at the da Leo . Reminded me of the family run Les Routies of France. Good tasty regional food , well prepared, and generous portions . We were not disappointed. The entree was a mixture of hams, cheese, and olives .Fresh and ample for 2 people. This was followed by spinach Ravioli with a beautiful homemade pumpkin sauce. My wife chose the pasta with rabbit and olives, again made from fresh ingredients and certainly meaty. Had ordered the ribs and potatoes after seeing the neighbouring tables meal, but at this point, I was full so the waiter kindly cancelled the order. A tiramisu was the crowning glory to the meal. My wife commented that it was the best she had eaten all week We had the house red and white, which again was most acceptable . The waiter spoke perfect English, and the menu came in both languages, which helped the tourist who were there that evening. Go there or you will miss the chance to eat like a Tuscan does.

Excellent service. Charming rustic dining room. Food was simple but well prepared.
Phillip B — Google review
Authentic Tuscan food, a bit noisy inside but the service was very good and fast. The food is also good.
Espial1348 — Google review
Very bad experience. Food below average, meat dry, overcooked. Veal was hard as a rock. Waiter and waitress unfriendly. In the end, he "accidentally" overcharged us. I definitely do not recommend it. They do not deserve the ratings they have online.
Mateja S — Google review
Was lovely here. Food was good and friendly staff.
Linh N — Google review
A friendly, affordable, and delicious trattoria! The staff is wonderful and the food is excellent. The menu changes occasionally which allows for pleasant variety if you come regularly. Lucchese and Tuscan delicacies on offer. For those concerned about summer heat, they have air-conditioned indoor seating. The outdoor seating is lovely as well. The restaurant is great for those with children as they have toys and entertainment on hand to keep the kids occupied.

Antica Locanda di Sesto is a family-run roadside inn located in the Serchio valley, north of Lucca. With a history dating back almost 650 years, this traditional restaurant offers authentic Tuscan cuisine. The menu features dishes made with locally sourced ingredients including farro, Sorano beans, and produce from the owner's nearby farm. Freshly made pasta, carefully sourced meat, and seasonal vegetables are staples here.
If you’re looking for an upscale traditional Italian restaurant, this place is it. The atmosphere is beautiful, warm and inviting. I had the pumpkin ravioli and the eggplant parmigiana, both were the best I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend making reservations. This was one of my favorite meals of our stay.
Angela G — Google review
In one word—WOW! We stayed in Lucca center and drove 20 minutes to reach the restaurant, set in a beautiful landscape. The restaurant was full of locals, which says a lot. We enjoyed the delicious Bistecca Fiorentina and drank the house wine made by the restaurant owner. The food was perfect, and so was the service. We will definitely come back again!
Sharon S — Google review
The best meal during our few days in Lucca’a area. Traditional dishes, well executed, the freshest ingredients and a very nice atmosphere and service.

I guess it's not gourmet, but the bib gourmand is very well deserved. They serve traditional food, but very delicious, almost perfect and with love. The Red Wine by the owner is amazing. The staff is super friendly. The flair is kinda eleganr And the prices are more than fair. If you are anywhere near Lucca this is a must.
Ernst F — Google review
We recently lunchedat this charming restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the service, which was both good and exceptionally friendly. The 'senatore capelli' spaghetti, while having a very strong cheese flavor, is definitely for those who appreciate a bold taste. The homemade tordelli was delightful, with a well-balanced flavor that left a lasting impression. A standout dish was the tagliata di manzo, which I highly recommend. It was perfectly seasoned with oil, pepper, and a hint of rosemary, making it a must-try for anyone visiting. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with a few standout dishes that cater to different palates.
Marc T — Google review
Phenomenal dinner the food was great you can taste the love they put into there dishes , staff was great never rushing you helping you with picking out something. And the place made you feel at home. If your in the area you must try.

This was our best meal during our week in Tuscany - exceptional food, excellent value for money for the quality, we found it via the Michelin guide but it feels a step above the usual non-starred entries, with touches such as mixing their carbonara in a wheel of cheese at the table. Also a very good and reasonable wine list - we had a lovely bottle for €22.

Nestled in the heart of Piazza Napoleone, Da Ciacco is a charming eatery that invites you to indulge in a delightful culinary experience. This intimate spot specializes in an array of sandwiches, salads, and regional dishes, all served in a relaxed atmosphere. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by an impressive display of hanging salumi—smoked pork legs and various sausages—that sets the tone for their meat-centric offerings.
The food was fantastic, like something from heaven. The waiters were very nice! The ambiance was nice, without cars, in a kind of pedestrian zone. It's hard to describe. I had a pulled pork panini with a delicious sauce and well-seasoned BBQ pulled pork. The other food was great, too! The espresso was great, too! You have to eat here when you're in Lucca!

Walked past here so many times on our stays in Lucca. Not sure why we left it so long. Popped in for lunch. Delicious sandwich. Will return for a salad (which looked delicious) if we come back to Lucca.

What a great place. Loved the food, the portions are great and price is good for the quality. I totally recommend. Shout out to the team working there.
Mostafa I — Google review
Great spot for tasty paninis, nice outdoor seating and pleasant service. Martina is the best! We enjoyed the Mortadella, gorgonzola dolce, arugula, tomatoes panini and the Porchetta, taleggio, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula panini. Our sandwiches paired well with the Vermentino. They also offered a nice espresso. This restaurant was the perfect first meal upon arriving in Lucca after a long journey. The sandwiches are large, so it is possible to share depending on how hungry you are. We had such a good experience that we came back the a few more times during our stay in Lucca. We shared the QUELLA AL POLLO (Mixed salad, CBT chicken, cherry tomatoes, celery, steamed onion, boiled potatoes, Taggiasca olives, 24-month-old parmesan cheese, sweet and sour sauce (mustard-based)); the CROSTONE MORTAZZA (Toasted bread, mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio cream and toasted pistachio grains); BURRO E ACCIUGHE Toasted bread, favored salted butter, Cantabrian anchovies; and Caprese platter. The Crostini hit the spot. The mortadella was perfectly thinly sliced, bread, so tasty. The anchovies with butter on toast was delicious. The chicken salad was bland with very dry chicken and tasteless tomatoes, but the olives were tasty. But other than that, we had a great time!
Sara — Google review
Absolutely great sandwiches! Never had a sanwhich like this before. Super crispy bread with some great cuts! Love the flavor mixture.

If you find a small gathering of people waiting to be seated at lunch, it's worth joining the queue. I don't think I've had a better lunchtime sandwich anywhere. Recommend the pastrami, roast beef paninis made with their perfectly crisp bread, and also their beef tartare. Drinks are good too.

Pizzeria da Felice is a century-old, family-run pizzeria located in the charming street of via Buia, just around the corner from the church of San Michele. It's a beloved spot among locals and travelers alike, known for its house-specialty focaccia, crepes, and an array of pizzas available for take-out or by the slice. The pizzeria has mastered the art of pizza-making and has become a staple in the community.
Great super thin crust pizza. All with the same margherita base but with option to add salami, salami picante, etc. got the salami picante and loved it. They cut a chunk of pizza for you and weigh it to determine cost. Great option for quick meal or snack.

Great crust, any topping you like. Terrific pizza. We had it our first day in Lucca and never again found it's equal. Be warned, ordering a piece of pizza gets you a plateful of delicious slices.

Pizzeria Da Felice was highly recommend by the host of our apartment, having read the reviews I was a little worried that we wouldn't be welcome as tourists however please ignore the reviews! The staff couldn't haven't been more welcome - we felt so at home and comfortable, everyone was so friendly and most importantly the pizza was delicious ! Thank you so much ❤️

Nice and simple pizzas. Had a whole margherita and a salami mozzarella focaccia for a total of 15.5euros. She politely asked that they prefer cash, unfortunately I didn't have any so paid with card. No idea if I got charged extra or not though.

Delicious, quick lunch at an excellent price (15 euro for two of us, including sodas!) Loved that you could add any toppings to the focaccia and the pizza, and the cechina was great too. Staff very helpful.

Ristorante Mecenate is a lively trattoria located in the central Piazza San Francesco, offering a quarter-century of heartful and passionate cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on strict respect for seasonal ingredients and careful selection of local raw materials, often sourced from heroic producers. Housed in a historic dyeing plant and dry cleaners, the restaurant exudes rustic elegance while offering a solid introduction to Tuscan dining.
What a great experience, what a quaint fun, vibey restaurant with really nice genuine food. We ordered the pasta with ricotta and spinach that was incredible, the beef that was okay (not the fiorentine steak but the version on the english menu was not that good) and the orange cake. ORDER THE ORANGE CAKE OH MY GODD. i will be dreaming about the orange cake for centuries to come. A gigantic glass of the house wine which is very nice was 3€, the focaccia brought to the table was awesome. The service was really friendly. All in all a super great experience
Vicky A — Google review
Very touristic, but food was still really good. You will find many options of the typical Lucchese and Tuscan dishes. However, service was so so, there seemed to be some drama among staff and owner / manager which affected the way we were served. The space isn’t super cozy either as it seems to be optimized for bigger groups and tourists.
Gustavo R — Google review
The food is simple and delicious with the freshest and highest quality ingredients. A few blocks from the tourist part of town and you’re in a very Italian place and frame of mind. The staff are friendly and have good recommendations. I hope to return again some day.
John M — Google review
The only redeeming qualities were the wine and the selection of cured meats. We were seated outside, and the service was abysmal: 25 minutes just to take our order, another 30 minutes to serve the starter, and an additional 15 minutes for the main course. The main course was an absolute disaster. I ordered the pork loin, which was supposed to be crusted, but the crust was as hard as a brick. We were left with our finished plates for ages, and after chasing the waiter for another 30 minutes, we were finally able to pay and leave. This was, without a doubt, the worst meal we’ve had in Italy (and this is our 13th day here).
Stasiagrams — Google review
We were recommended to come here from a local. It did not disappoint. From the moment we walked through the door the service was impeccable. The food was incredible. I had nettle and ricotta crepes for mains and cheesecake for dessert. My partner had the local cheese gnocchi then the orange and chocolate cake for dessert. The portions were spot on. Not huge but not stingy. Just right. Although the restaurant inside looked inviting, we were sat out the back in the courtyard which was beautifully lit and magical in every way. Highly recommend this place. Oh and the bathroom was spotless.

Ristorante Cantine Bernardini in Lucca is a charming dining spot located in the historic Palazzo Bernardini from the late 1500s. The restaurant offers a delightful selection of Tuscan dishes, including stuffed chicken and Florentine beefsteak, served in rustic dining rooms or on a terrace by a plaza. It is also an osteria-enoteca owned by the Bernardini family, offering a variety of wines from their estates.
Ristorante Catina Bernardini, tucked away in the historic heart of Lucca, Italy, offers a dining experience that not only caters to your culinary senses but also nourishes your soul. Its low-key underground dining area is a charmingly rustic nook capable of serving over 16 guests comfortably, making it the perfect venue for special gatherings or a memorable meal with dear friends and family. An evening at Catina Bernardini is an epicurean adventure steeped in authenticity and tradition. They truly live up to the phrase "slow food," encouraging you to savor the experience and take your time with your meal. For our party of 18, we leisurely enjoyed our feast over the span of about 3 hours, but every moment was delightful and never dull. The restaurant's wine selection is superb, boasting an array of top-notch Italian and international wines. Whether you're an oenophile or a casual wine enthusiast, their sommelier is there to guide you through the perfect pairings for your meal. As for the food, it's hard to find the right words to do it justice. Catering for dietary needs is handled seamlessly and respectfully, with an accommodating food allergy menu that didn't skimp on variety or flavor. The homemade gnocchi with tomato, basil, and buffalo mozzarella was a revelation. Each bite was like a warm embrace, the gnocchi's delicate texture paired exquisitely with the rich sauce. The tortellini au gratin, boasting a hearty Bolognese ragu and creamy besciamella sauce, was similarly impressive. Meanwhile, the roast beef of melino, served with a refreshing salad of potatoes and parsley, was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. Vegetarian options shine as well; the grilled eggplant millefeuille with carasau bread, feta cheese, and mint was an intriguing blend of textures and tastes that delighted the palate. Their desserts are another story altogether. The Panna "poco" cotta, adorned with fragole al balsamico, was creamy yet light, the balsamic strawberries providing a tangy counterpoint. The Sorbetti di frutta fresca di nostra produzione secondo mercato was the perfect palate cleanser, with its refreshing and vibrant fruit flavors. The meal culminated with an exquisite cappuccino. Perfectly balanced, the bitter notes of the coffee harmoniously blend with the sweetness of the frothed milk, serving as the ideal full stop to a gastronomic journey. In conclusion, dining at Ristorante Catina Bernardini is a delightful celebration of Italian cuisine. It's not just about the food but the overall experience. The atmosphere, the attentive service, the time taken to savor each course — it all contributes to a dining experience that you'll cherish. To those willing to take the time to enjoy a leisurely, well-crafted meal, I wholeheartedly recommend Catina Bernardini. Their commitment to quality is clear in every aspect, and it's a meal I look forward to reliving.

We're quite picky when it comes to a good cuisine. I'm soo glad that the Google reviews helped us pick a place to eat. I didn't mind staying inside as we didn't book a table on a fairly small terrace. Interior has a nice upper class artsy vibe to it. Service is always a big part of a culinary experience. Each and every person who served us tonight was a professional - friendly attitude and ability to advise. The quality of food served was on a high level. Typical Tuscan rabbit cake, pasta with ragu and also wine. Everything did just simply fit...Hence I'm taking the time to post a review. Thanks to the whole team, we enjoyed every bit of this evening!
Martina S — Google review
Had the crusted artichoke and rabbit pie to start. The Crusted Artichoke was a bit too mushy throughout, although the rabbit pie was pretty good. For mains, we had the fried sea food and the leek tart. The leek tart was good for the first 2 bites, but it was so sweet and overwhelming we simply couldn't continue eating it. The fried sea food was very similar - everything, including the veg, was covered in batter and there was no flavour variation. You were being hit with the same strong and overwhelming flavours on repeat. The problem with both dishes is they had nothing to balance them, no sides of any sort - we thought we may have ordered incorrectly (and missed ordering sides) but both dishes were recommended by the staff as-is. The restaurant itself created a very nice ambiance and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. It's a real shame the food was such a let down.

peculiar menu, all good in a nice setting. service quite pro. interesting complimentary chickpea hummus the vernaccia by the glass was excellent. tagliatelle with white vela ragù very good, toast also the ragù tordelli (though I would cook them more al dente). enjoyed the stuffed zucchini appetizer fair price

It's a little expensive in comparison to some other options in the area, but it is an absolutely amazing dining experience! If you are slightly interested in having dinner here I would suggest making reservations as soon as possible as it seems to be a very desirable restaurant.

My boyfriend and I spent over one week in Italy, and this was one of our top favorite restaurants. The bolognese was incredible, and the pasta with marinated sea bass was so unique and spectacular. Our waitress Francesca was very sweet and welcoming. We loved Lucca and we will come back here the next time we visit!
Sarah K — Google review
Immaculate service in a gorgeous setting in the city. There were free refreshing drinks and a "mouth amuser" included, our kids loved the drink. The food was perfectly cooked and the menu imaginative with creative, modern twists on the classics. Highly recommended, it wasn't too pricey either.

Funiculì is a renowned pizza restaurant located just outside the historic center of Lucca, Italy. It offers an extensive selection of 39 different pizzas, with its Neapolitan and Bufala pizzas being particularly popular. The restaurant is highly recommended by visitors for its fantastic pizzas and great outdoor seating. Despite being situated outside the city walls, it is considered well worth the visit. Absolutely loved the pizzas here. Have lived in Italy for 8 years and locally I think this has been the tastiest pizza I've eaten. The amount of flavour in the Neapolitan dough is incredible. As amazing as the pizzas were, the staff were just as incredible. Very friendly, very efficient, and ever so helpful. Will definitely go back for more, and have already recommended this restaurant to about 8 people. In other words, absolutely loved it!

This is in my opinion the best pizza in Lucca. Good and fluffy crust, many choices of pizza toppings. A little outside the city center but well worth the walk, and the restaurant was full of Italians. That is a sign of quality. Recommended and worth the trip outside the walls.

Best pizza we’ve had. Drooling thinking about it. The crust is fluffy, the sauce is incredible. We had the Donaisabella and a Calaisabella and let me tell you -out of this WORLD-

Delicious! We went to eat at Funiculi with my family (the French family) and were able to taste the BEST pizzas in Italy. Thanks to the whole team for their service and kindness. We'll be back with great pleasure as soon as possible. Go without hesitation!

A cozy, cute and mainly visited by Italians pizza place that serve amazing pizzas and even better fried antipasti pizza/or “bites“. We had some great Fritos as starters/antipasti and a mixed salad/insalata mista. Important to note is that the salad comes with a focaccia. When you order and estimate the food amount you should take that into consideration. You have a ton of pizza choices and all possibilities sound great. All pizzas we had tasted great. We also made some substitutions which was easily doable. The service is great, they even speak English while keeping the Italian flair.

Nestled in the vibrant Piazza Napoleone, Da Umberto Pizzeria is a true gem in the charming city of Lucca, celebrated for its authentically crafted Italian pizzas. This establishment goes beyond being just a pizzeria; it’s an institution where dough is expertly hand-stretched, sauces are simmered to perfection, and toppings are selected with care. With delightful options like Capricciosa and 4 Fromaggi on the menu, pizza lovers will find themselves spoiled for choice.
This pizzeria is absolutely fantastic! The pizza is authentic, delicious, and cooked to perfection with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The crust is crispy yet soft, and the toppings are perfectly balanced. The atmosphere at the square is very inviting. The staff is friendly, attentive, and passionate about what they do, which really adds to the overall experience. The service is quick, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. If you're a pizza lover, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Amazing pizzeria in Lucca. We stopped in for a late night bite to eat and it was still busy! They had a table inside for us and the service was great. Pizzas were out of this world

Authentic, neopolitan pizza here that is a crust above the rest. Menu says it's made using 24-48 hr biga ferment and the resulting crust is spot on. Menu options are numerous but each of the pizzas we had were delicious! Waiter went out of his way to seat 9 pulling tables together despite it being busy. Highly recommended 👍

My husband and I were drooling when we saw the beautiful pizzas as we strolled by and couldn’t wait to dine here ourselves. Today we were able to have a pleasant lunch and ordered a salsiccia e friarielli pizza and a mortazza, plus a beer and a glass of house white wine. The pizza was the star of the show, truly spectacular. Both pizzas have the chewy, salty crust (not too salty—just right!) that you can only find in Italy. The Mortazza was our favorite. We are not accustomed to finishing a whole pizza each, but we did our best. I noticed other patrons enjoying aperol spritzes, so I asked for one as well and gave my wine to my husband. Everything had been great to that point. What was a bit disappointing however, was not long after my spritz was brought out—I’d taken maybe two sips—the waitress asked me if I wanted a coffee or digestive. I pointed to my drink and smiled, telling her I was just starting on my drink. A few minutes later, she came out and asked me if I was still working on my pizza—and honestly I wasn’t sure, I was just enjoying the atmosphere with my husband and nibbling the pizza. Again, my drink was still half full at that time, so clearly I wasn’t ready to leave. I had the impression she wanted us to hurry up and leave the table. Usually the customer has to ask for additional service or for the check in Italy, don’t they? So, full marks for the food and atmosphere, and one star off for staff pressuring clients to get out, which spoiled our visit to this otherwise stellar pizzeria.

An absolute gem of a place! Fantastic food! Fantastic wine! A stunning location! I sympathize with the staff who have to deal with tourists who don’t pay attention to the rules. I only wished the establishment had explained how to pay at the beginning of the meal, my wife and I had no issue. You need your table number and you pay at the cashier FYI

We went for dinner as a group of 7 people and had a great time at this traditional Tuscan restaurant 🌿. With a super reasonable price of around €20 per person 💶, we’re giving it a solid 8.5/10 ⭐️. Highly Recommended: Focaccia 🫓: Absolutely amazing! Crunchy, flavorful, and freshly baked. We loved it so much that we asked for more even after the waiter had already taken the full order… and he kindly brought it anyway! Tortelli al Ragù 🍝: pasta with a rich, savory ragù — truly authentic, Tuscan-style comfort food. Tiramisù 🍰: Creamy, well-balanced, with a generous touch of coffee and cocoa. The perfect sweet ending. The waiter was super kind and patient 🧑‍🍳, even though we definitely made his job harder with our extra focaccia requests! The place has a warm and cozy rustic vibe — very much in line with the region’s charm 🏡. A great choice if you're visiting Lucca: tasty traditional food, kind service, and honest pricing. A perfect spot to enjoy Tuscan dishes without breaking the bank. We’d absolutely go back! 🍷🍝

My family and I adored this little find. We were right at the witching hour (230pm) when we asked if the kitchen was open (after three knock backs) and they were more than welcoming. There is a small outdoor terrace but we ate inside. Classically italian / european interior - tasteful with nothing over the tip. We had a two antipasti (local salumi) and the ceccina and baccala. Then the roasted tuscan chicken and tagliatelle with porcini. My sone had a plate of perfectly cooked spaghetti in ragu (he loved it). Some local red wine and prosecco to start. More than perfect service and All for 100 euros.

Favorite restaurant so far in Lucca! Located inside the walls, around the corner from Hotel Ilaria, the food, service and ambience were all great. Loved the chicken with melt in your mouth roasted potatoes and the branzino. The pear, walnut and Parm salad with a drizzle of honey was the best we've ever eaten! We are sure to return this week! Grazie mille ai nostri camerieri.

This was the best dinner we had during our stay in Lucca. The food was excellent and they had a great selection of wonderful wines, a lot of them local to the region. Nestled in the vibrant Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, Ristorante Trattoria L' Angolo Tondo is a must-visit for anyone exploring Lucca. This charming eatery beautifully marries traditional Tuscan flavors with modern culinary flair, all while using high-quality local ingredients. The cozy dining room, adorned with eclectic decor reminiscent of Nonna's 70s style, offers an inviting atmosphere that feels both homey and elegant.
We were looking for lunch whilst exploring the city and this stood out among other restaurants at the piazza. We had the 5-course tasting menu for lunch, where the chef selected dishes from the à la carte menu. The staff carefully asked about our allergies and intolerances beforehand to ensure everything was suitable, and each dish was thoughtfully explained when served. The chef, originally from Lucca, has experience working in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris before returning here — and it shows. Every dish was perfectly balanced and beautifully executed, completely in tune with our palate. The entire experience was lovely from start to finish and most of all, reasonably priced.

Lovely location looking into the piazza. Excellent service from our waiter and his support team. Excellent wine list with a great recommendation from our waiter - a local red that was smooth and very fruit forward - Valle Bula from Fattoria Sardi. We started with the appetizer Tartare di Manzo - it was outstanding, If not the best I've ever had! All of the meals were excellent but my Maiale Grigio was the stand out of the day! We didn't get to dessert as we were full and had a train to catch. Definitely recommend!

Additionally, the seafood offerings are particularly noteworthy, featuring grilled fish and seafood pasta that consistently impress patrons. The food here is really really good. I got the lasagna and it's one of the best I've ever had. It is a dish I would very much so recommend it to anyone reading this review. You also get complimentary bread and olive oil which is nice! The staff are absolutely lovely. I really really cannot thank them enough. After I finished my dinner, out of nowhere, I suddenly fell ill. I had been feeling under the weather before I came, and it all just hit me at once. Anyways, they made sure that I got to a toilet ok so I could clean myself up and before I left, made sure that I felt a better before I headed back to my hotel. I cannot thank them enough for making what was a really embarrassing, scary time for me less scary and less embarrassing. They're genuinely good people with hearts of gold, who care about you as a customer and as a person, and want you to have the best dining experience at their restaurant, and most importantly - they're human. As everything happened so quickly, I unfortunately was unable to tip. The very least I can do now is sing their praises, leave a glowing review and very strongly recommend you give these guys business! It'll be the best meal you have in Lucca! :)

Oh my gosh. The food was divine. All courses. Hand made pasta. Fantastic tastes. Great wine. And oh my god the Panna Cotta with the pistachio sauce. This is the best Panna Cotta we have ever had. Very attentive, very charming and helpful with selection. 11/10 place

What an absolute gem. We came across this restaurant by chance while looking for shelter from the rain during lunch time. Staff was very friendly and helpful and we were served almost immediately. We came here before a concert without a reservation — and as you can imagine, the city was absolutely packed. Our chances of scoring a coveted terrace table seemed pretty low. While we waited in line, we watched in awe as beautifully prepared dishes were brought out to tables, each one delivered with genuine care by the waitstaff. Within 10 minutes, it became clear that this was a true family-run restaurant — you could feel it in the seamless teamwork, the joyful energy, and the playful jokes exchanged between the staff. There was something special in the air. Finally, we were seated — and every dish, every glass of wine recommended by the knowledgeable and warm-hearted waitress, was a masterpiece. We’ve been traveling around Italy for a few weeks, but this carbonara (and I consider myself a true fan!) absolutely blew me away. A true work of art! It’s hard to fully express the joy and appreciation we feel for this cozy, family-run gem. Thank you for your hard work, your warmth, and the unforgettable experience you gave us. Osteria San Giorgio is a charming Tuscan-style restaurant located on Via San Giorgio in Lucca. The rustic space features brick arches and a shady courtyard, creating a cozy and authentic atmosphere. We have eaten here before, and both times, the food was amazing. The staff are very friendly and, by Lucca standards, the prices are reaso able. It's a bit hidden away down a narrow street, but once inside the gate there is a beautiful and quiet courtyard.

The outdoor space is beautiful. We sat indoors with the AC and were happy for it. The decor is a bit hodge lodge, and I wouldn’t recommend the place based on the inside ambience- BUT- who cares? It was a good temperature, not too noisy, and both the service and the food were great. I would recommend any go. And great value for the money. My family of four loved everything we got (except the house red wine- next time, we’ll just buy a bottle). The mixed antipasti- so good! The stuffed pasta in a ragu- we had to order a second- the simple grilled steak- tender and flavourful. The contient- spinach and potatoes- yep, perfect. The chicken? Exceeded our expectations. We were too full for dessert but I bet they’re all authentic and tasty and not too heavy, either. (Oh, one last thing, the olive oil they brought to the table was also very good quality and so tasty)

Unique dining experience in the heart of Lucca. This was one of the 3 places ChatGPT recommended we pick for lunch on our day trip to Lucca from Florence. Amazing find! Decor - interesting, to say the least. Let me just say there’s a lot to look around and absorb. Service - incredible. Food - amazing. Several unique dishes that we have not tasted before - across all 20 days or so around Italy over the last two trips. Go with the recommendations, the menu is difficult to read but the suggestions are spot on. Don’t skip desserts - specially the complex ice cream / peach filling / sponge cake on top, and the one they referred to as Ferraro Rocher but is immensely more flavorful.

Place was very crowded as its quite popular specially for its weird decoration probably. Didn't book a place but got quickly a table for one. Place is very loud and small and full of phallus decoration as this is the gimmick of the place. Didn't like my food much, ordered polenta with fried pork. Desert i chose biscuits with vin santo. Recommended for couple of friends to have fun, drink. It wasn't good choice for me sadly. But service is fast and very attentive.

Trattoria Da Nonna Clara is a charming and cozy restaurant in Lucca, offering a delightful dining experience. The ambiance is inviting with the sight of Clara making fresh pasta in the window and the tantalizing aroma upon entering. The menu features delectable Tuscan tortelloni, Florentine steak, fried zucchini flowers with cheese, ravioli, cod balls, lasagne, and a variety of dishes for kids.
Of the five restaurants I visited in Lucca, this was by far the best. The atmosphere is cozy, with a focus on traditional cuisine offered at fair prices. The restaurant tends to fill up quickly, so it is advisable to book a table in advance. There is an extensive wine selection, along with a few beer options. The staff were quick, knowledgeable, and spoke English. One charming detail is that you can watch a cook prepare fresh pasta dishes right at the entrance. I’m not sure if the cook was Nonna Clara herself — perhaps not — but the experience was delightful. A highly recommended choice for anyone seeking an authentic Tuscan meal.

We loved Trattoria da Nonna Clara so much on our first visit that we ended up going back three times during our stay in Lucca — it’s that good! From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere sets the tone. The staff are absolutely lovely, and the chef clearly knows their craft — everything we tried was full of flavour and beautifully presented. It’s a truly authentic spot, tucked away in a fantastic location with the choice of cosy indoor seating or a charming outdoor area that’s perfect for soaking up the Lucca vibe. The drinks menu is excellent too — I have to give a special mention to their Hugo Spritz, which was honestly one of the best I’ve had anywhere. Food-wise, the 500g steak is an absolute must — cooked to perfection — and the stuffed zucchini flowers were delicious and delicate. Every meal felt like a treat. Easily in our top 5 places to visit in Lucca. Can’t wait to return next time we’re in town!

Loved this place! Proper hearty Tuscan food done really well. We had a big meat and cheese board to start — loads of cured meats, a nice variety of cheese, and some pickled veg in the middle which cut through it all nicely. The chestnut pasta with sausage and mushrooms was rich and earthy, super comforting. I had the porchetta with roast potatoes — crispy, juicy, and full of flavour. The wild boar stew was incredible too, really tender and served with creamy polenta. Everything felt super rustic and homemade. This was our second visit in a week!

🍦🌟 OVER-THE-TOP REVIEW: LA VENETA – A SWEET SANCTUARY SINCE 1927 🌟🍦 After navigating the travel chaos of Pisa to Lucca—train schedules, overheated crowds, and the kind of station noise that feels like it could dislodge a giant ball of earwax—I stumbled into paradise: La Veneta, proudly serving since 1927, and thank the gelato gods for that. This place isn’t just a gelateria—it’s a historic institution, a reset button for your soul, and a cool, creamy love letter to Tuscany. The moment you step inside, the chaos of the outside world melts away—just like their gelato, which starts melting in the most poetic, slow-motion way as soon as it hits the cone. I went for a classic combo—hazelnut and vanilla—and it was pure emotional repair in a waffle cone. Silky, rich, flavorful enough to make you question your life choices up to that moment. “Why haven’t I been living inside this gelato case forever?” you’ll wonder. The staff? Efficient, calm, and in total command of the craft. The “STOP! Attendi…” sign is just the cherry on top—because you wait your turn for greatness. If your day needs a reboot, if your spirit needs a hug, or if you're just a human being with taste buds—La Veneta is where you go to remember that everything is going to be okay. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Born in 1927. I've just discovered this Ice cream Parlour just off the ancient walls of Lucca, delicious artisan made icecreams with toppings of all kinds, from the classic M&Ms to nurses and granola to delicious fresh fruit. Try the frozen yogurt, it's one of the best I've had.

I don’t recommend for children. The gelati was fine, but they have a display of many toppings and refused to give our children sprinkles, saying there ‘wasn’t enough room’ even when we asked in advance before the next order. I asked what do you put the toppings on if not ice cream? She said ‘nothing’. Okay… The kids were disappointed.

Veneta serves three slightly smaller than average scoops (but represents better value than the normal sized two scoops offered elsewhere). Great if you want to try three different flavours… or just triple up on your favourite!!

The best gelati in Lucca! Made in their kitchen with fresh, seasonal and many times local ingredients!

Dinky portions, too much sugar, scoop used by girls is basically the size of a cantaloupe scooper. Will try another place in Lucca. Do not recommend La Veneta, unfortunate.

Nestled in the heart of Lucca, Osteria Dal Manzo is a charming eatery that beautifully embodies Tuscan traditions with its rustic decor and eclectic lighting. This delightful osteria takes pride in transforming simple, local ingredients into creative yet unpretentious dishes. Guests rave about the pici with rabbit ragu, claiming it to be one of the best pasta experiences during their travels. The menu features an array of options including veal, steak, and seafood—all at reasonable prices.
Cozy restaurant with extremely friendly staff. They accommodated our large group of 8, making sure the two children of the group were taken care of. Nice seafood options including Fried sardines and tender yet crispy octopus. Their cheesecake was unlike any other I’ve ever had!

Being residents of Lucca, we can say that without a doubt this is an amazing upper end restaurant and do not expect pizza. The service, quality of cuisine and price ratio are excellent. Highly recommend in every way possible. Wonderful dishes included acciughe fritte, polpo, patate, burrata e pomodorino confit, tagliata di manzo con insalata di stagione and artichoke.

outstanding food, good vegetarian options, excellent curated wine list. visited May 2025. my beef diaphragm was excellent; marinated for hours, it was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. the pasta dishes were freshly made and also high quality. our table had a view of "the pass" and it was nice to watch the chef inspect the meals prior to departing the kitchen, lots of attention to detail. the staff are multi-lingual with at least italian, english and german spoken very well; reservations are highly suggested. Recommend.

It was very very good! Service & Food is amazing! The staff is very very friendly ♥️ The only thing is: they need definitely some airfans because it’s not possible to dine outside and the building the seating area is next to, is reflecting all the heat it absorbed the whole day.

We found this place by accident, and it turned out to be the perfect final meal in Tuscany. The staff is wonderfully attentive, and the restaurant has such a welcoming atmosphere. We shared a beef tartare as a starter, followed by octopus and tagliata for our main, and everything was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic, cozy restaurant rather than a tourist trap.
Paula P — Google review
We waited a long time to try this restaurant and it didn't live up to expectations. We ordered the scallop and steak florentine; they told us it was plenty of food but we left hungry. The scallop appetizer was small and uninspired. The steak was tasty and fresh. The wine from Montecarlo was good. The sides weren't great; the salad had no sauce and was just hard bits of the lettuce, and the stir-fried veggies were unimpressive. (They also brought us the salad when we didn't order it.) The service was subpar; they didn't seem to want to serve us and we waited over an hour for the food.

One standout is the Montanara pizza with its unique flash-fried crust, setting it apart from any other pizza. The bustling atmosphere filled with locals adds to the charm of this authentic Naples-style pizzeria located in the heart of Lucca.
Amazing pizza, take it for take away and enjoy in one of the beautiful gardens of the Tuscan Airbnb’s. Classical and non classical pizzas but full of flavour. Might have been the best one I had so far in Italy, but I could be bias. I mean look at that few then everything tastes good. Quick serves and friendly. Would go here again

Amazingly delicious Neapolitan-style pizza from an award-winning chef! I had the Margherita and loved every bit of it. The tomato sauce felt especially refreshing and complemented the cheese and basil perfectly. The crust had just the right amount of crunch and chewiness to it! 🍕 There's indoor and outdoor seating suitable for all mobility levels. The toilet is accessible too, and has a changing station for those with little children. ♿🚼 The staff were extremely nice and friendly, and they took great care of our big group.

We were very happy to have avoided the tourist traps in Piazza Anfiteatro and found this really good pizzeria. They have an outdoor seating area which while not the most charming was nice to sit in when the weather was good. We didn’t have a reservation, but as we arrived at opening time were able to get a table for a bit more than an hour. Quite a number of options in the menu and we all enjoyed our choices. They were some of the best pizzas we had recently and I think it was largely due to the yummy tomato sauce and the quality of the pizza dough. Highly recommend.

We let our server choose 3 pizzas for us and she nailed it! The fried margherita pizza was the winner for us (the sauce was SO GOOD) but the pizza with lemons on it was a close 2nd. Definitely give this place a try!

Great Neapolitan pizza. When we arrived there were no seats, it turns out we had to make a reservation, but the pizzeria employee found us a seat. GO.DO. Burger Bar&Bistrot is a highly regarded restaurant with an extensive menu featuring dishes made from the freshest ingredients and served with meticulous attention to detail. The burgers are exceptionally large, and customers have the option to customize them with various toppings such as habanero jam and a variety of cheeses. In addition to burgers, GO.DO. also offers delectable tartare and specialty dishes, particularly recommending their lobster roll.
One of Lucca’s true gems! We live in Lucca and dine at Go.Do. regularly. Burgers are some of the best anywhere and I mean anywhere. Fries, onion rings are top notch. Their Korean chicken is fantastic as is their chicken fried sandwich, lobster roll, wings… eeegadz! It’s the entire menu that is great! Simply put go do Go.Do.!

These are some of the best burgers I’ve ever had, I’m from the US but I’ve lived in Italy for 1.5 years and have traveled a lot. So this is not a lite statement. The service is great and I love the music. I’m moving to Lucca and this will be my go-to whenever I crave a burger. This is the burger and onion rings.

Probably my all-time favorite restaurant🤩 Every item on the menu is made with the freshest ingredients and meticulously served. The burgers are huuuuge and there are lots of customization available, like habanero jam and different kinds of cheese. They also have tartare and special dishes (totally recommended the lobster roll), plus they have a very good variety of local wines and beers. The atmosphere is cozy and informal, and all the staff is super nice and will answer any of your questions. Every time i come here i’m never disappointed, and to be honest i’d give a ten star rating if i could. ❤️

One of my favourite restaurants in Lucca! Love the tapas sharing concept and the food is delicious. You pay for the quality. Would recommend booking.

A cozy place with a great food and attentive service, I really enjoyed my dinner, highly recommended! Be aware that while they have few Italian cuisine-inspired plates, most of the dishes are inspired by Middle East, Asia, South America. Few notes/preferences: - I missed in the menu some fresh, green veggie plates. I was looking for some plate to balance out other dishes we chose (carbs) and I couldn’t find any options. - Torta Della Nona was great, but please serve with a knife! The bottom was pretty hard and not possible to cut by fork : D knife is a must!

Unique flavors like ginger, mustard seed, and lime add an unexpected twist to their standout dishes. Additionally, the restaurant boasts a charming shaded garden for outdoor dining.
Welcoming staff and an enchanting outdoor patio area to dine. They served me regardless of a lack of a reservation. One of the best meals I’ve had in Italy so far. The lamb chops I highly recommend.

I would give it a solid 4.5 if I could. Food was very delicious. The taglioni and the yoghurt dessert were missing a little something regarding taste. The pesto-shrimp pasta was amazing but could’ve been presented a little better. Similarly the ambiente was suggesting a intimate romantic restaurant, but the chart music didnt match it. The service was absolutely great, nothing to criticize there. All in all, a very good restaurant with small caveats to work on for the full 5 stars.

Its ok? It's nice to have a hidden outdoor space away from the crowds of Lucca. I think I was expecting more from the food since it was recommended by a local. We absolutely loved the place. It was our first evening in Tuscany, which we started exploring with Lucca. And we craved for such food! So modern, yummy and Italian. Menu was not available in English, so the waitress translated literally EVERY dish name for us! It was very nice of her. The focaccia was the best we ever tried! Soft and salty! Pizzicheria La Grotta is a charming restaurant located near the main square, with ample outdoor seating. The establishment resembles an old-fashioned grocery store filled with high-quality products. The menu features delicious options such as focaccia with colonnata lard and focaccia with finocchiona. Visitors appreciate the authentic and honest food, along with the attentive and friendly staff.
Finally a restaurant that's not a tourist trap! Great, honest food, super friendly staff and management that "has their eye on the ball". You know the place is good when the two other restaurants next to it have half the customers than it does. Service was swift and without fuss and when the food came, I was steaming hot and as tasty as it gets! The Fettuccine ai funghi porcini set a new standard of excellence for me - simple and unpretentious with plenty of mushrooms and a pleasant creamy yet light sauce. The pizza was another hit - great crunchy thin crust, super sweet passata and beautiful melty mozzarella di bufala and fresh basil. The view from the restaurant is also very nice, with the surrounding piazzetta and some artsy sculpture nearby. Unfortunately we didn't have time to stay for dessert as our parking time was about to expire and we had to opt for Gelato on the go.

The Osteria Baralla is a centuries-old Tuscan restaurant with vaulted brick rooms and a terrace that overlooks Piazza Anfiteatro. The atmosphere is authentic and welcoming, with good service and delicious local cuisine.
Our group of 6 enjoyed a lovely evening at Osteria Baralla last night to celebrate a birthday. We were welcomed by the friendly Jonathan who was an excellent host. All the food was great, with the highlight being the bistecca florentine steak which was fabulous. A complimentary dessert for the birthday guest was a nice touch from the lovely and friendly waitress, Aurora. Overall, this Osteria is a fantastic choice if you’re visiting Lucca, highly recommend.

Walked past this place when visiting Lucca and it looked nice. They reserved a table for us outside to eat there that same evening. The staff were friendly, the prices were reasonable and the food arrived in good time. It tasted very fresh and it was very enjoyable. I would eat here again if I go back to Lucca.

Really nice place well located in Lucca, we chose it as we wanted something different than pizza and pasta and it had some good options. We ended up having the beef with polenta and the rabbit stew. The food came really quick (5-10 mins) and it was really tasty. Prices were normal (under 20€ for one meal). The tiramisu was also good and the staff is friendly. I would recommend.

Fantastic place, the staff squeezed us in even though they were extremely busy with a large group booking and looked after us well. The food was fantastic, fresh and authentic dishes which tasted excellent. The tiramisu was quite possibly the best I've ever had and the traditional filled pasta had such a rich flavour and texture.

Amazing wee restaurant. Well priced for big portions - I got a massive plate of beef carpaccio to start, and the beef stew was really good. Well worth a visit.
Andrew M — Google review
Maybe they were having an off night. The general atmosphere was chaotic – it was not warm or relaxed. We were first greeted by a grumpy and curt old dude (the owner?) with no smile or charm when we walked into the restaurant. That was the first sign that we should have left and found another place for dinner. Our waitress was totally disinterested. She interacted with us robotically as if it were her last night working there. There seemed to be no communication between the wait staff and the kitchen/prep. The old dude occasionally yelled at them both. People at other tables were served their entrées one at a time and many minutes apart versus all being served at the same time. The food was unremarkable. Do yourself a favor and walk on by this place and find a more joyful and pleasant place for dinner. We were there in mid-September 2025

Great experience. the woman who was working in the front was attentive and cheerful. I had seen her the night before, but we did not eat there She was cheerful and helpful then as well. it is a place to go to enjoy the wonderful food and experience. not a place to eat it and beat it... Antipasti thumbs up. grilled vegetables thumbs up. focaccia double thumbs up. Thank you Ogre!

Absolutely delicious panini. I had the Salami, Buratta, Walnut, Artichoke one for 7€. Definitely recommend!

There are so many places to eat in Lucca, and Pan di Strada fits the bill for good food. ( l hope google Maps has given me the right restaurant as outdoor dining was very close together. All the more reason, take a photo of receipt) The spaghetti was cooked beautifully, and surprisingly the Corona matched well on a warm day. I also finished off my partners Bruschetta, fresh tomatoes on a toasted bread, that was tasty. The service was good with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Awesome 👌

My favourite food experience so far in Italy! The food was delicious (we each had a sandwich that was unbelievably tasty) The service was great (our waiter was kind, efficient, had a great choice in music (the music playlist was great!) and he clearly enjoyed his job, which was so nice to see. Simply, i would go back, and I would recommend!

Excellent sandwiches—I had a #12 (truffle spread) and my husband had #28—both were very fresh and delicious, and affordable. The women who helped us were cheerful and friendly, and clearly care about the work they do. It is mostly for take out, so we sat at a bench just outside of the place and enjoyed some beer with our lunch. Highly recommend!

Women run, small street food shop, Tuscan style. Best and wild choice - 40 different sorts, of really juicy panini. Vegetarian type also on offer, with tasty cooked veggies I actually ordered . A mandatory food pitstop in Lucca. Do not miss it, worthwhile the waiting!

Mara Meo San Francesco is a restaurant with two establishments located on opposite sides of the piazza. It is accredited by the Italian coeliac society and offers a variety of gluten-free options, including pasta and pizza. The reviews are mixed, with some customers praising the extensive gluten-free menu while others have experienced shortages of these options during their visits. The restaurant offers 11 different gluten-free pizzas, although some patrons have noted that the thin crusts can be difficult to cut as they are frozen.
We were absolutely thrilled! This charming Italian restaurant offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately made us feel at home. Despite being busy, the service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional. The menu has something for everyone, from delicious pizzas and fresh salads to juicy burgers—even options for the little ones. They also offer gluten-free choices, which was a big plus for us! Everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. We loved it so much, we came back the very next evening. Highly recommended!

We arrived in Lucca late at night on a weekend, so finding a place to eat was a bit of a challenge. Luckily, Mara Meo was able to fit us in. Our waiter was a great guy who was a lot of fun to talk to. He made us feel welcome. We had some pizza and beer and everything was delicious. They have 1L jugs of beer, which was a fun, and I'd recommend it! This place is a great, relaxed environment where you can get some decent food. There were lots of families here, which was a fun environment. I'd recommend it.

Good value and gluten-free options. Located in a lovely Piazza with a nice atmosphere. It seems when we visited they were a little understaffed as it took some time to get a drink, etc. However , we weren’t in a particular rush and the food was decent.

Spent an evening here after winning the Lucca Vox Lucensis choir festival. The restaurant made space for all 60+ of us and stayed open after hours just to accommodate us. Food was pretty great too and I would 100% recommend the 1L beer jug. 10/10 would do again.

Amazing local restaurant! Great food, great service, superb atmosphere!! We enjoyed a great evening here with a delicious “Gustosa” salad, followed by an outstanding fresh mortadella pizza, accompanied by a Tuscan “Montelpuciano” wine. Highly recommend this place for a perfect evening! Thank Leonardo for your great service!! 😉

Gluten-free and lactose free options for your pizza. Crisp crust and a little tough to cut, but the taste was very good. The setting is very nice, located on a square in front of an old church. Nice family vibe outside, there is a decent sized indoor dining area as well. Nice service and they spoke English.

Nice place, but very bed services. After 30 minute since they took the order, they came back and told us that the menus are finished and we have to order something else. After another 30 minutes they told us that they we’ll check when it will be ready. One hour after order, finaly the food came. Conclusion: I do not recommend this location!!!

2023.10.11 - Tuesday and most restaurants in the area were closed. This one was open. It has a bit of a Pizza Hut vibe. I was quite satisfied with the salad, Ricca (8.50Euro). The wine pours were ridiculously small and the wine gave me a headache later in the evening (5.50Eurox2). I was looking for pizza and I ordered there specialty pizza, Épica Picolla (12Euro), in the small size. It had Burrata on it and arugula and “uncooked” ham. It was spectacular in appearance. The Burrata was new to me and I enjoyed it. The crust and remainder of the pizza was ordinary. I was charged a 1 Euro cover charge to sit in the mostly empty restaurant.

Strabuono is a popular spot in Lucca, offering a delightful menu of street food. The place is known for its loaded fries with pork and truffle cream, as well as pork sandwiches with artichokes. With over 50 panini filling options, choosing can be overwhelming, but the warm sliced meat, truffle sauce, and gorgonzola in option 44 come highly recommended.
Great sandwiches at a reasonable price. Everything’s fresh and the fries were on point. Props to the single employee making everything by himself. It was a great break from the multi course menus in the area. We’ll be back!

Mostly good sandwiches, I got the famous 42 and a selection of others. The 42 was tasty and so were the others but the chicken cutlet (37) with salad and mayo wasn't good (too salty and cutlet was small).
Keith T — Google review
As portions I think it's great, plus the service was quick and kind. My only suggestion is perhaps that you must go for the must complex options (which are probably tasty). Otherwise paying around 8 euros just for bread, prosciutto and mozzarella seems too much. I was expecting some sauce or something to make it more tasty but it was just prosciutto and mozzarella.
C — Google review
This is a fantastic little hole in the wall with a menu as large as the whole wall! Their fries are wonderful and the most unusual shape. They are also fast and friendly.

Food was amazing and was just what a person needs to feel full for lunch. The worker there was nice, but I could tell he was stressed from being the only worker there, and was a little snippy at some people. But its understandable. Overall though, this is a place to remember.

Fuori Di Piazza is a charming restaurant in Lucca that offers a delightful dining experience. It's the perfect spot for those seeking a place larger than a cafe but more intimate than a high-end steakhouse. The menu boasts a variety of delicious options, with their pizza being particularly renowned. Diners rave about the tasty Focaccia and Sicilian pizza, as well as other main dishes like calzones and carbonara.
In the piazza, this restaurant looks out on Lucca. We enjoyed the calzone with grilled vegetables and they flinch at my request for no cheese. It was excellent, as was the pizza marinara and the red wine. Good portions with reasonable prices and friendly service in a great location.

We have lived in Lucca for nearly 9 years and have dined at all pizzerias in the Historic Center. I can say without a doubt that Fuori Di Piazza is the very best pizzeria. After touring Lucca we were hungry and took a chance on this place. The staff was very friendly. Ordered and the food was prepared quickly. I had the Sicilian pizza and my wife the calzone. They were both delicious and well made. The prices were very reasonable. Great value. The house red wine was good.

Pizza is ok, the pasta for our kid was not great, overcooked and not so tasty. The service is good and the location is neat and central. Price are not excessive.

The red-haired waitress brought us a food order that was twice as big. She didn’t admit the mistake, didn’t apologize, and said that we had ordered too little food for four people. So we paid for everything, even though we only managed to eat half. I wonder what they do with the leftover food?
Gina V — Google review
A good place for its purpose. If you're trolling the streets for somewhere that's bigger than a cafe but smaller than a Michelin Steakhouse, then this place is the right selection. The food is fine here, there's a variety of choices and the food is very tasty. We had some Focaccia and some entrees (the Focaccia was more like a folded over pizza I'll admit...) and everything tasted fine. Sure, there are fancier places around, but this place is on the square, won't cost you 100€, and the service was polite and helpful. We were here in the winter and there was an ice skating rink outside. I suspect that there are activities in the square during the summer as well. The large amount of outdoor seating will be something to enjoy in the summer sun. While they did have some desserts available, we did decide to head out for Gelato so that we could wander while having dessert.

We followed the local students into this place. If local students like it, it must be good. I like how the owner politely told us to wait until he served the students as they have limited time to eat before getting back to school. We ordered pizza and socca. Both are made right in front of us. They are so fresh and tasty. Price is good. We say down next to a group of local students and enjoy the family atmosphere of the small place. Like it a lot.

We had 4 pizza's, 2 small pizza's were fine, the dough of the 2 big pizza's was still rare... to much tomatesauce and flour, quality of ingredients was good though. Since there were a lot of locals I think we just were very unlucky...

Don’t spend your money here!!! One of the historical pizzerias in Lucca, located on the city centre's main street and loved by generations of Lucchesi, turned out to be a complete fraud! Differently from the restaurant’s slogan, the pizza is everything but made in the Napolitan way; it’s flat, burned, and poor of condiments. About the service, well, when they say that apples don’t fall far from the tree, the service is the perfect representation of it. The personnel couldn’t understand what the customers were saying to them. Last, but not least of importance, the place is overcrowded. We’ve eaten in harm of the other customers. I don’t recommend it even to my worst enemy.

After a week in Italy, this was the first restaurant where the food was delicious! Even though the place is next to the tennis courts and out of the center, the atmosphere is pleasant. This place is a gem specially for vegan pizza lovers. On their menu they have two pages of diverse vegetarian and vegan pizzas and vegetarian ones can be easily be turned to vegan. We ask if we could have finger ladies as well and there they were delicious toasts with beans, mushrooms and the famous bruschetta. Pizzeria Santa Maria is a hidden gem located near the wall at Lucca. The staff is welcoming and attentive, providing excellent service. The pizzas are described as "damn good" with a crust that's out of this world. The menu offers a variety of options including Capriccosa, Quattro Stagioni, Capers & Anchovies, 4 cheese, and prosciutto pizza. Customers praise the fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked crusty dough.
A very traditional feel to this Pizza restaurant, the staff give the feeling of having been here many years and are courteous and helpful. The menu is extensive and the pizzas are lovely, a nice crisp base with generous toppings. Nice gentle music playing throughout our visit and the adjacent road, like most in Lucca, is not particularly busy.

My family of three decided to have a quick lunch/dinner at Pizzeria Santa Maria after checking the customer reviews here, and I can say that it was a delightful experience. We were not very hungry so we opted for a "light" meal consisting of a bresaola dish and a fresh mozzarella salad, but we were tempted to try one of the focaccias as well. It was absolutely the best focaccia we have ever tasted and quite unique in taste and appearance. My son, who is a very picky eater, said that the ham pizza was one of the best he has ever eaten. The service was very warm and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Lucca. It is very close to a breathtaking green area of the city.

6.22.18 - ***ORIGINALLY POSTED ON TRIPADVISOR*** this is my first review on TripAdvisor, but I mainly post on GoogleMaps, which is next. This is damn good pizza, but I have nothing to compare it to in Italy because these are our first pies. The staff/management/owner are welcoming, patient, and thoughtful. I first asked for the Capriccosa and the Quattro Stagioni, but they said it is the same pizza just organized differently. So I ordered the Capriccosa and the Capers&Anchovies. This is some serious eats. Everything was made with fresh quality ingredients; the front of the house (outdoor seating) was packed; the staff smiled at me constantly; no one was gruff or impatient with me after reviewing the menu for 10 minutes; nothing was burnt or overcooked; the pizza pie maker dude said goodbye to me on my way out; amaze-balls. We ate our pizzas like savages in our room. They didn't cut the pie, but we scavenged knives and forks and the pie cut like butter. This was unreal. In NYC, the pies would probably not cut the same, and I can't say for sure, because it never happens. Do yourself a favor and support this place when you visit Lucca, if not for the food, then for the people who make the pizza pie and serve you. I'm not a bot or a paid reviewer, and trust me, I go into everything 'hating', because I set low expectations. Originally I gave this 4-stars because I reserve 5-stars for repeat offenders to my low expectations to make sure they deserve 5-stars, but these guys are so good at making pizzas and providing good service it was only fair to rate them 5 stars. Is that snobby? Sure it is, but you're still reading this review, so phooey on you 😝! I could be completely wrong and they are average compared to the rest of Lucca's pizzeria, but I don't care if I'm wrong. The truth is, their pizza does not suck AND it's really good. Did you get that double positive? 'Does not suck and it's really good'. It's not your $1 slice NYC pizza, this is legit good and at $15 (average) a large pie, it shames NYC pizza, but is that fair because I'm in Italy? Of course not, so what, it's true. Need it be said, yes.

Nestled on the outskirts of Lucca, O' Pazzariello Pizzeria is a delightful Neapolitan gem that captures the essence of authentic Italian pizza. This charming eatery operates without reservations, offering both takeaway and table service to accommodate its eager patrons. The pizzas are crafted with care in a traditional wood-fired oven, featuring a deep-dough crust that embodies the true spirit of Neapolitan cuisine.
I ordered the Regina Margherita and the Babà. It was so good! It's as if I ate in Napoli! The crust was soft and it's all gooey in the center which is one of the characteristics of a pizza Napolitana. The couple that runs the pizzeria is from Napoli and they only make 300 pizzas a day, so make sure you come in time to catch one of the three hundred! After paying, the couple gave us Limoncello, too!

(Translated by Google) Small pizzeria with Neapolitan flavors and colours, friendly and helpful staff, delicious pizza and a simple but clean environment. I didn't give 5 stars to the environment section because it is very small and it is very hot in the pre/summer period (in the summer months, they close); You also cannot reserve a table. However, I HIGHLY recommend it.

We had an amazing meal here for lunch on Tuesday. The food was amazing. The pizzas were super fresh and unbelievably tasty - €6 each. The pasta was equally as good and around the same price. The staff were very good with us speaking very little Italian, helping out where they could and were very polite. The main menu has English translations but the meal of the day does not, it's fairly easy to figure out if you know a few foods and have Google translate :) Highly recommended. We went back to re-order the same food a couple of days later...

Pizzeria Pellegrini is a popular spot in Lucca known for its delicious wood-fired pizza. The restaurant offers a street food approach to pizza, serving generous slices at great prices. Despite the busy atmosphere, the friendly service adds to the overall experience. Located near St. Michael's church, it provides an authentic dining option in the heart of Lucca. Customers can enjoy not only pizza but also pasta and lasagna at very reasonable prices.
Very good pizza and great beer. Prices are more than reasonable considering the fact that the restaurant is located behind the church on the main town square. The waiter was somewhat clumsy, but she was nice.

Tasty, no-fuss wood-fired pizza — sold by the slice, which makes it perfect for a quick bite on the go. Great crispy base, rich tomato sauce, and quality toppings. Ideal if you want something fast but authentic.

Pizzeria Pellegrini, what a hidden gem for Brick Oven Bliss! Pizzeria Pellegrini delivered some of the best brick oven pizza I’ve ever had. The crust was perfectly crisp with that smoky char only a true wood-fired oven can achieve. Each bite was full of flavor—fresh ingredients, melty cheese, and a rich tomato sauce that tied it all together. Simple, authentic, and absolutely delicious. This place is a must-try for any true pizza lover visiting Lucca Italy.
Fred S — Google review
Correct as of April '25 Friday evening, Very busy. Cooked in a nice traditional wood fire oven. You'd better know Italian, or at least have a translator available, for communication. Take some time to go over the menu, which is in both English and Italian. Prices are pretty good, very fair. Better than most UK fast food and pizza restaurants. Sitting inside, or takeaway, are both available. However, no sitting outside if you're not a customer. No Deep Pan only thin pizzas. Beware, price is per pizza, not per slice... As I learnt the hard way.

This place is good for snacking but there is no quality here. The pizza’s are fine and cheap but not the best. The staff is grumpy and they don’t serve with a smile. Still 3 stars because the bill was on the low side. One advice for the restaurant, stop with the service cost of 1.5€ for each person.

Very good wood-fired pizza, with seating on the street out-front. Service was friendly, if a little slow - but it was very busy on the Saturday evening that we visited; the queue was out the door for those who were taking pizza away! The 6 of us (2 adults and 4 kids) shared 3 pizzas and a foccacia flatbread, along with some drinks (4 soft and 2 Aperol spritz). It all came to 56€, which was pretty decent 👌🏻

Normally, it's really quite nice in here and the food is pretty good. We like our coffee to be really boiling hot, so asked for it to be boiling hot with little foam and an extra pot of hot water. Unfortunately, the coffee was cold and had lots of foam. The "pot" of water was actually a glass which made it really hard to pour into the coffee and it was also only luke warm. We were in a rush so didn't bother to do anything about it. On a more positive note, the pizza slice I had was very nice... although it could have been hotter :)

Alice Lucca is a popular pizzeria in Lucca, Italy that serves up some of the best pizza around. The crust is thin and crispy, with plenty of toppings to make every bite a delicious experience. The restaurant is also wheelchair accessible and accepts credit cards.
Really really crunchy and delicious pizzas. There are at least 10 different toppings to choose from. Some vegetarian options (my favourite is the eggplant with ton of olive oil). You can choose the size and pay according to weight. Very fair price. There are a few seats inside.

Walking around in Lucca and was just about to pass out from holding in my pee due to the lack of free public bathrooms before I stumbled upon the heavenly gates of Alice Pizza. Ravenous, I stumbled in the store and demanded the best slice of vegan pizza I’ve ever laid eyes on. An affordable chain restaurant (2-3 euro per 100 grams I believe) that could make a delicious pizza so good could only be found in it’s birthplace, Italy. There’s options for everyone too. I owe to this place for saving me from having to buy a pair of new pants.

Quick service and delicious pizzas! I especially liked the one with a crispy thin layer on top — really unique and tasty. I just wish they had some spicy pizza options, and it would be nice if they offered hot drinks or at least room-temperature beverages. Lucca is cold and rainy, so the drinks should match the weather a bit better.
Altaitsetseg S — Google review
There is a lot of flavours to choose from. I got two different flavours and they were both really good. They offer to warm up the slices, but they were still cold when I got them. They cut each slice in half before handing over the box which makes eating them a lot easier. The prices are fair.

If you’re wandering the charming streets of Lucca and suddenly find yourself craving something quick, authentic, and irresistibly delicious Alice Pizza is your answer. This little gem near the city center proves that great things often come in casual packages. The pizza here is served al taglio (by the slice), Roman-style, with a crispy-yet-airy crust that’s the perfect foundation for a variety of creative, mouthwatering toppings. Whether you’re into the classics like Margherita and Diavola, or feeling adventurous with zucchini flowers, truffle cream, or mortadella with pistachio Alice Pizza nails every single one. What sets Alice apart is not just the quality of the ingredients, but the balance, each slice has the perfect ratio of dough, sauce, and topping. The staff are warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They’ll help you choose the perfect combo if you’re indecisive (and trust me, it’s hard to choose just one!). It’s ideal for a quick lunch, a casual dinner, or just a snack while exploring the beautiful historic walls of Lucca. The prices are more than fair for the quality, and the variety ensures there’s something for everyone, including vegetarians and picky eaters. Bottom line: Alice Pizza in Lucca is a must-visit. It’s where Roman street food meets Tuscan charm, and your taste buds will thank you.

It's a popular place among locals and tourists alike for its delicious pizza made to order right in front of your eyes. Despite its small size, the pizzeria offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with friendly staff. Whether you're looking for pizza slices or whole pies, this spot is not to be missed if you're craving good pizza while exploring Lucca.
By far the BEST pizza we have ever eaten, hands down! We had to go back for seconds! I highly recommend the charcoal base with Italian sausage and mozzarella di buffalo. Tiny little venue with 3 tables. They only make pizza which is why it has been perfected. Love love love this place!

Amazing award winning pizza. The best I have had for the two weeks so far in Tuscany. Though I must admit I didn’t had too many pizza these two weeks but I do like pizza and really enjoy this thin crust crispy pizza. Probably on the thinner size on ingredients, cheese and sauce as compared to American pizza but the crust is simply one of the best I have had! They do get quite busy and there are only three small tables for 6 available. Most would buy and eat standing outside or find one of the stone benches sticking out of building. Try the zucchini pizza as the dough is probably infused with saffron and it’s uniquely delicious. The black charcoal dough pizza is more of a gimmick and is a bit dry and tasteless. Overall, a good place lunch or snack place! Highly recommended.

Amazingly delicious pizza. Don’t be put off if it’s re-heated for you from the counter…all 4 slices of mine were and they were crispy, flavourful and just divine. Surprisingly out of the 4, the plain tomato base one with basil was my favourite ❤️ It was 19 euros for 4 slices and 2 coke zeros.

Dante & Gentucca is a charming and intimate pizzeria right in the heart of Lucca. What makes it stand out is not only the warm and welcoming service but also the unique “pizza by the slice” approach, which allows you to taste several varieties in one visit. The crust is perfectly thin and crisp, the toppings fresh and balanced, and every bite is simply bursting with flavor. It’s without a doubt the best pizza I’ve ever eaten, and one of those rare food experiences that make you want to plan a return trip to the city just for another taste. A true hidden gem, and absolutely worth visiting!

Very tasty pizza! Freshly baked, good quality ingredients. Although there's a lot of people waiting in line outside, don't worry, it's definitely worth it 🙂 There are only three tables inside, but there's a church nearby with stairs where you can sit and enjoy your food

Highly recommended! Great crispy pizza. I love the thin crust and different flavors they have available. Only has 3 tables inside and a side bar table but take out with the pizza is easy to eat. Well done!

This was one of the best pizzas I had in Italy! We had to order some slices to go (they didn’t have Aperol and we wanted one). All of them were amazing - the dough was super fluffy and the ingredients were flavourful. I really recommend you to try several and different slices so you can experience how amazing it is. And the price is super worthy! One of the cheapest meals we paid. Would definitely come back!

Exceptional pizza by the slice. Only 3 tables for dine in so very small space but our 20 visit on a Wednesday was delicious discovering a black dough with veggie toppings was very memorable for a light dinner after big lunch.

The house wine is praised for its quality, and the friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere. Customers have also appreciated the thoughtful service, including special touches for children.
We stumbled upon this gem during our walk at the city wall in Lucca. In the first evening we had Pizza with the house wine. The wine was very good. The pizza was one of the best we tried here in Italy. At the end we had some very good coffee! The second day we tried the focaccia. Thoas focaccia were absolutely delicious! The staff was very kind! Highly recommended :)

We ordered a focaccia and a pizza from here. The pizza was decent but I definitely ordered poorly! My wife had a tuna focaccia and said it was amazing, so we ordered some more to take home for the rest of our group. She wasn't wrong, great bread, great filling. Order a focaccia!
Duncan S — Google review
Interesting offers of filled focaccia, good pizzas. No windows and the entrance is directly on the road, so it can get quite noisy.

Fantastic service, very helpful, thoughtful and friendly! Even got a heart shaped pizza for the 10yo joining. The Nutella focaccia is also a great breakfast idea in case you are traveling! Great for kids and adults so highly recommend visiting when in Lucca!
Katja H — Google review
It was the best pizza ever (said my 10 year old). The focaccia are a real discovery...such an array of choices and every single one we tried was scrumptious. We even took some home for picnic the next day and couldn't prevent ourselves from taking the Nutella/nutella mascarpone one home to have for breakfast....decadent in only the best ways. Add to that the incredible, warm, friendly, attentive and thoughtful staff, in particular Giulia who made our visits so special and made us feel at home. Great location just outside the city walls, plenty of seating....a MUST stop for anyone visiting Lucca
