The best meat doner in Kizilay. The meat taste is incredibly delicious and the portions are satisfying. Everything is fresh. The prices can be a bit high but compared to the quality of food you get, it is understandable.

I’ve been coming here for 30 years. I witnessed the staff giving pure animal fat as a meal to the stray dog that lays in the street right in front. When I told them they are doing more harm to the animal then good by feeding him pure fat , they asked if I would rather purchase a Döner for him. I told them with the lines they have in front of this “hole in the wall” they can do the right thing and get real dog food, the bald guy behind the register was sarcastic and they lost my business for the foreseeable future.

Someone greeted me at the door and helped me with my order which I liked. I ordered pide, mince and cheese, chips and sweet string dessert. Pide looked more like a lahmacun than a pide, see image, but tasted good and the dessert was too sweet for me but that's just me. Not much interaction with staff so no complaints there. But they serve good food and large portions. I liked the salad sides, to balance slightly oily pide with fresh crunchy salad. Thanks

It was my first time here and I was genuinely impressed. The ambiance of the physical space was amazing – very clean and looked new and modern. The service was impressively fast; our orders arrived quickly. While the taste could be improved a bit, it was still enjoyable. The portions were large and quite satisfying. Overall, I had a very positive experience and I definitely plan to come back regularly.

It is really good. The quantity is more than enough the quality is great. Staff is very kind. Bread (pide) with minced meat was amazing.

I visited this restaurant in Ankara and was disappointed. The waiter serving me made rude comments about me in Turkish to his colleagues, assuming I couldn’t understand. If I hadn’t understood, my experience might have been okay, but because I did, it was unacceptable. People should not be talking about customers like that, even if they think the customer doesn’t understand. On top of that, the food gets cold very quickly and wasn’t that great.

This place is an Ankara classic, one of the oldest and long standing restaurants in the area. Always good food, more than satisfactory portion size, decent service and fair prices. This quality has not changed for decades, worth a visit if you have not tried before. You can never go wrong with anything in the menu, Pide and iskender are staples.

Quite fulling large portions, lahmacun and kıymalı pide are like the same. I would expect lahmacun to be thinner.

I had a most wonderful and very tasty lunch here. We tried dishes from various Turkish regions and everything tasted great. I especially liked the patlican dolma and the Katmer. The karısık kebab was very well prepared, both in terms of seasoning and doneness. The staff was friendly and quick.

I visited Gunaydin again after i wrote below review, still the same. This place is a definite to go. This is one of the best kebab + meat restaurants in Ankara. Instead of going to Nusret and leaving your pants go to Gunaydin and have great, mini lahmacun, Adana or Urfa kebab, cop shish, lamb shish kebab and many other fantastic choices. Food is excellent, service is good and location is very convenient. They also have valet parking. This is a place for both locals and tourists. Definitely recommended.

The food was really good. We ordered Beef Döner and pide. It was really good. The staff suggested some sweets which we also tried and it was equally good. The turkish tea was also perfect. The place was more than 90% full when we came which shows the trust that people had in the quality of food in this restaurant. Will be visiting this place in the future and I recommend visiting for authentic Doner dish.

As we were in the area around, my wife had discovered this place through Google maps. It is located inside an hotel. The place is nicely decorated. The staff were very professional. The service was fast. The uludag kebap was delicious. The kunefe was yummy. We enjoyed our experience there. Keep up the good work.

Ulus branch of Uludağ kebap, is an Ankara classic. They only serve Döner and it’s derivatives. Uludağ is still good, but not as great as it’s used to be. In lunch time, portions are probably prepared in advance, then heated before being served. At least mine was surely like that. This process makes dishes feel much more fatty and less consistent in terms of heat distribution. Either way, service is good and atmosphere is fine.

If you love İskender kebab this is the place you should visit. Both Uludağ kebab and salad was very tasty. I'll visit on my next Ankara visit and recommend all.

Very nice experience. The food is great. The köfte meatballs look more like sausages and are very tasty without being spicy (which I was very happy about). They also come with a little rice, mashed potatoes, a baked tomato and baked green peppers. The shepherd’s salad (çoban salata) is vegetarian, with tomatoes, onion, green peppers, fresh cucumber and pickled cucumbers. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the very thin green peppers are not spicy at all; a few are sliced in the salad and a few others are cooked with the meatballs. I also had the krem karamel (crème brûlée), it was good. The tea was a bit too bitter, even with sugar in it, but it’s the same as most teas I’ve tried in Turkey, so it’s just a matter of taste. The restaurant itself is very clean and fancy. It feels very safe, despite the surrounding neighborhood. It’s inside a hotel. Most of the staff speak English pretty well, certainly better than in other restaurants. They gave us the WiFi password. The internet is of very good quality, it even allows streaming. I would definitely dine here again if I were staying longer in Ankara. 10/10

Very delicious food and fast service. I ordered one of their lamb kebab and it was super delicious. The meal came with many free appetizers and hot delicious bread. The staff were friendly and professionalism. You get free turkish tea (Chai) too. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Raw chicken, lots of flies on food. Lack of taste and waiters stand disturbingly around you. Inside of the restaurant smelled raw meat in disturbing level, we preferred to sit outside. I have no idea how expensive is that service. They can’t even bring stick kebabs in different plates, they put all sticks at one plate, not really efficient. No yogurt based or spice based additional salads. So expensive. I would never visit again, I could not find even a single positive thing about this restaurant.

First of all , as I am living in Istanbul , I would like to recognize that no one is smocking inside the restaurant and it’s great to finally be able to enjoy good food without the horrible smell of a cigarette. The kebabs are good and there is a large variety of choice . The service was quick as well and we were a huge table ( 50 people) . The desserts were really nice as well not too sweet .

Not only a medicore food but also it was very salty. Probably to sell more of their over expensive drink. It is just overrated. If you are there and want to eat a good döner, go to Metro Gross Market and and eat something much better for a cheaper price.

We arrived at a very crowded hour but the service was not delayed. Waiters were very helpful. We tried lentil soup, doner kebab, iskender and kadayif dessert. It wasn't tasteless but nothing special. We paid 960 TL for 4 persons.

Simply terrible food. I am very disappointed to be fooled by the rating of this place. The meat they used was tasteless and flavourless, not to mention they use electric ovens, which makes the bread dry and non-authentic. Also their döner is pretty small in portion and they are for sure using low quality meat. If you're hungry for some Turkish cuisine, skip this place and drive a bit further for a better one –it should be easy to find a better one.

As I walked past the windows of this place I thought it looked a good bet - good decor, innumerable smart waiters moving efficiently, reasonably well heeled and sophisticated looking clientele, and an immaculate maitre d'. I wasn't wrong. And I was pleasantly surprised at the prices. Especially when, in addition to the Adana Kebab I ordered, the table was covered with side dishes - these are complimentary and come 'for the table' however many you are. On this occasion, all for me! Each one fresh and delicious. The lamb of the kebab was distinctively lamby and tender. Also included, was: a glass of cold kefir, a small portion of semolina pudding and ice cream, and tea, to finish. One waiter spoke English and graciously helped me review the menu. A very satisfying hour and a half of eating! And the bill only €12!

This is one of THEEE spots where I love coming to whenever I'm back in Ankara. If you're visiting and want the closest thing to a local restaurant experience, this is the place. The döner is definitely the go to, but they run out by 2-3pm, so I'd recommend going for lunch. I don't know how the experience would be like ordering as a non-local, so if you have someone you know who speaks Turkish that you could go with, that would be ideal (especially since it gets extremely chaotic)

Cankaya Lokantasi is a phenomena. Whenever I was in Ankara, I walked by it many times but didnt know what a fantastic place it was until one day I watched it on YouTube when I was home in Denver, CO. It is a small, not at all a fancy restaurant which ran out of most of their food after 2 pm. It is 100% family owned & run by the brothers & their sons. They cook, they serve, they do it all. Whatever, I ate there tasted better than my grandma ever cooked. They have various kinds of typical Turkish caserol dishes as well as real tasty doner (gyro) and sis kofte. It is jam packed during lunch time, there is a line outside. However, they are well organized so you sit, order, served, eat, pay & get out to open space for the next customer in line. They ran out of food by the end of each business day so it means, next day, everything is fresh again. They sell 70 kg's of doner meat daily. Go there if you ever miss your grandma's or mom's dishes. You must taste all the dishes one by one. If you are a foreigner visiting or living in Ankara, this will be one of the best places one can experience traditional but excellent Turkish food for a very reasonable price. I can eat there at least one meal everyday when I am in Ankara. They also have take out. Too bad I cant take the entire establishment w/their owners to the US. Without a doubt it will be a Michelin star restaurant in no time.

The server was fine but it wasn't good enough. I will never go back the 2nd time & i do not recommend at all. If you want to eat decent meats and kebabs go to GUNAYDIN in Ankara.

I think it is the best Kebap place in the area in terms of quality of food and prices. They have their own wooden oven so all the bread, pide, and lahmacun is fresh and delicious! I usually have lahmacun (costs 20TL) and tavuk sis (costs 33TL). All the orders come with sides of salads, bread, onions, ezme, and parsely (rice with the chicken). If you order home, they send the food in very neat and well packed packages. And if you dine in, they always serve free tea after your meal ☕️ All the food I’ve tried there so far is so tasty and fresh 😻 enjoy

The menu lack chicken and kids options but there is a variety of local foods which you can choose from. Restrooms are available but not so clean. Wheelchair accessible entrance is available. Just a fine restaurant.
