Lively place. Old speakers and the toilet didn’t work (and it hadn’t been cleaned either), but they had drinks and good vibes. Nice casual “stage” for karaoke, feels intimate and grounded. You can request almost any song. We visited three times in a week, so that should tell you something.

The lady bartender had been nothing but rude to us. First my friends had to wait while she chat up with a particular customer. Not that there was that many people at the bar. Then when we ordered a second round and had to change a drink, she threw the ice like throwing a tantrum.

Very fun private karaoke spot! Prices are reasonable and drinks are really good & come out fast! Service was a bit lacking and the guy who explained how the room works went way too fast and then just walked out. It was also a bit hot, but we were able to cool the room down a bit with the private air conditioning. The room was perfect for 4 people, but it's max is 6 and I think that would have been too tight and even hotter.

Very well organized. We would have appreciated the floor being mopped before we went in, it was terribly sticky. Maybe leave 5 minutes between each group in order to clean up a bit? All good apart from that.

We celerated a birthday by singing a couple of hours and we had a great time, huge list of songs in different languages, great atmosphere and service. It's worth it.

Amazing venue for karaoke..we booked for 8 people.., great drinks and great staff. Huge selection of songs, and easy to order drinks. It's not cheap but it's worth it. The 2 hours just flew by. Will definitely go back.

Toni 2 was so fun, it was my first time going. The atmosphere was really cool and everyone was singing along to iconic songs. I have tried to go two other times in the past, but I wasn’t successful getting in as I arrived 10 or 15 minutes after 10 on a Saturday. if you want to get in, make sure that you arrive 30 minutes before the opening time or right at the opening time not a minute later or you won’t get in till 1 AM or 2 AM when the first round of people leave.

The BEST bar in Madrid. A must go if you’re visiting!! It opens at 11:30pm and stays open all night. There is a 15€ cover but that goes towards your first drink. The atmosphere was incredible, the musicians were amazing and we had a ton of fun. They played both English and Spanish hits so even though we didn’t know all the songs, we could sing along to a lot of them! I will always recommend this place to anyone going to Madrid!

Great bar. It is a ver nice experience and a great place to go out. Drinks are nice and the ambience of people singing songs was great. Every hour the piano man changes. Make sure you arrive early enough before 11pm - otherwise you will end up waiting in line for a long time (around one hour). For sure one of the best bars I’ve been to.

Impossible not to have fun at this piano bar! It’s a mix of a lounge, piano bar, and karaoke joint, where the later it gets, the more packed and progressively more wild the crowds get. The songs range from old American classics to what sounded like vintage Spanish tunes, all being crooned out by a rotating pair of singer and piano player. Some reviews complained about the overpriced drinks and a tourist trap vibe, but when I went, all I saw and people I talked to were locals. The drinks were what you would expect to pay for a stand-alone place like this. Staff were all friendly enough and more importantly got your drink to you fast. One of the most memorable places I went to in Madrid. Drunken revelry at its best!

From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly rude — constantly telling us off about things we had no idea were even rules, because they never bothered to explain anything beforehand. Instead of creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere, it felt tense and uncomfortable. They were also extremely stingy with drinks, and the overall attitude from the staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming. Good karaoke bar. It has a wide catalog of songs available also at their website (in case you want to check they have a certain songs). They have most Spanish songs and the hit songs in English. There is no entrance fee so drinks are not cheap, but it is worth it. I would recommend to arrive before 1 a.m. because after that time it could get crowded and waiting times between the requested songs to sing could be 45 minutes or more. It is a BYOF kind of place, at least when booked beforehand :)

Really good place they work fast and the sound is good. The only thing is that they charge 8 euros for a bottled beer and 10 for a mix drink. That aside it's a fun environment full of people looking to have fun.

Such a funny place. It has two rooms so u can book one if you are a big group. They have lots of Spanish songs from 50's until today but do not expect to sing reggae ton or trap songs. Drinks are quite expensive (a beer 6€) but it is true you do not need to pay for singing/the book

Great place. I enjoyed it until it was my turn to sing. They were EXTREMELY racist. My African American friend and I went in there on Saturday night where there were less than 15 people in the place and couldn’t find the TWO songs we submitted for hours. My friend like after 45 minutes and I left and after an hour and a half. As much as I would like, I will never be stepping foot in this place again and if you’re a person of color, I advise you to do the same. You won’t enjoy being discriminated because of your color.

Best karaoke ever! You can request as many songs as you want as long as you pay for one drink. It's recommended to go before it gets crowded as it will be more difficult to sing as new people show up but even so, it's an amazing experience. This place is so charming with incredible historical interior and dated service. It takes you right back to the 20s/30s when xenophobia and racism were truly thriving. A lovely local Madrid couple next to me were helping me to order a plate of dried tuna for me but the woman behind the bar REFUSED to place the order. She said to the couple that I must speak Spanish and they couldn’t place the order on my behalf. Just be prepared for it, it’s a full experience.

It's a sherry bar (only) that offers some no-fuss tapas - olives, cheese, various smoked things. My husband and I first came here 20 plus years ago. Now we returned with our 3 teenaged kids. Same sherries, same old wood, same dust. We love it. If you something more than that - or want a catered customer service experience - then it might not float your boat.

Me and my group were removed from our table without ANY PREVIOUS ADVISE. After 3 hours on my table the staff just came and put us out saying that it was reserved, but there was no sign of reservation on ours (like on the only reserved table of the bar). Also the app isnt good at all and sometimes it would just stop accepting new songs, sometimes the songs were randomly removed from the queue and you had to put them back and wait for the whole music queue again.

One of the better chocolate and churro places in Madrid. It’s been around since 1894 and has one of the commemorative plaques from the city to recognize that. We ordered the traditional chocolate and order of 6 churros. The chocolate was warm, thick and rich full of dark chocolate flavour. The churros were hot, light and crispy on the outside and slightly tender on the inside. The place is super busy. Packed with tourists with a sprinkling of locals. There are multiple seating areas inside and outside, they almost occupy the entire corner of the street up to the Plaza of San Gines. If you don’t want to a it at a table there is takeaway service. You have to order and pay first then are given a ticket before you can queue for a table. If you sit inside you can check out the pictures of all the famous people that have visited over the years. The wait for a table isn’t too bad as people usually leave after about 15 minutes anyways.

The food wasn’t amazing but still good overall. We had the shrimp tacos, ceviche, patatas bravas, and chicken bao. The ceviche was unique with the turmeric flavor, the bao could’ve used a bit more sauce, and the patatas bravas were decent but I’ve had better. The presentation was really fun — the dishes and drinks were served in creative, cute ways! Price wasn’t bad either — about $150 for two people. I’d suggest ordering more than four tapas for two if you’re hungry. Overall, great atmosphere, cool crowd, and definitely a spot to dress cute for!

The service was amazing and food and drinks were great. We had the pink sangria and it did not disappoint. It was so refreshing especially for a hot day. We had an amazing server named Naja. She was welcoming and had great hospitality. I would definitely recommend eating here and getting the steak and potato’s. It hit the spot and was cooked perfectly.

Came here for a late lunch/early dinner and was seated right away. Not even half the restaurant was full, but it took a while before anyone came to take our order. The tapas came out one-by-one, which was a bit unfortunate because we ordered separate dishes (didn't share since one of us doesn't eat seafood and the other doesn't eat meat), so we kind of watched each other eat. We didn't realize this until after the third dish came out, so then it was a bit too late to mention. They forgot the scallops, but when I mentioned it, they came rather quickly. All the dishes we ordered were really good, especially the tuna, and nicely presented. The card with the QR code for the menu was sticky and the bathrooms weren't so clean. But overall a nice experience - for the stomach and the eyes!

Service was great, we were a little late for our reservation and the staff were very understanding, Najat and Jhonas were amazing. Me and my friend had the debut menu and I only have good things to say about it.

Absolutely loved our experience at Inclán Brutal Bar! The food was creative, delicious, and beautifully presented — every dish felt like a piece of art. But what truly made the evening memorable was the service. A big shoutout to Alejandro, our server, who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. When we had to move to a different table due to another guest, Alejandro not only handled it with kindness and professionalism, but also surprised us with a complimentary drink as a gesture of goodwill. It’s rare to find such thoughtful and attentive service. This place has an amazing vibe, incredible cocktails, and top-notch hospitality. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Madrid — ask for Alejandro if you can!

Good value for the food and its size, considering the location of the place, at the heart of Madrid. I had a lasagne for 15 eur and a cocktail for 13 eur. Coctail was meeh but worth to try for the experience. We had a reservation and they are for 1,5 hours (also a minus). Well, we knew that but the waitress kept telling us that we had to leave at a certain hour, way too many times. It was enough her to say it once, we speak both English and Spanish so we got it.. She ruined my mood, I didn't even enjoy my drink.. And we left without ordering desert, because we literally couldn't bare her to tell us one more time that we had to leave... So we left earlier than we should.

What a lovely evening. Friendly staff and good service. Not too keen on the QR menu , not too easy to navigate but the rest was really good ! Delicious cocktails and creative food ! Loved the tuna and the fried chicken bun ! Great music choice! The playlist was fantastic

La Negra Tomasa is the place to go if you’re into Latin music, dancing, and a high-energy vibe in central Madrid. There’s a real dance floor where people are actually dancing, not just standing around. I went on a Thursday and they had live music, which was fantastic! Perfect for salsa, bachata, or just having a fun, music-filled night. Beers start at €8, but the atmosphere makes it absolutely worth it. Highly recommended if you’re looking to dance, meet people, and enjoy Latin culture in the city.

This bar charges double what you pay anywhere in the center. Their live music is very mediocre and service rude. 8 euro for a beer worth 3-4 euro in most places. Big Rip off. Stay away.

I went for just one drink to check out the place and it was 10€ for a cocktail, 5€ for a water. The music was live and fun. The space is very small, so if you’re arriving just for a drink and to watch it’s a bit of a squeeze to get a view of the band and stay out of the way of the people dancing (also fun to watch!) and out of the way of the waiters going to and from the main part of the bar. By midnight the dancing picked up and you will be asked to dance (sadly I didn’t know how to) so if you dance to Latin music definitely check it out! I stayed around 2 hours and enjoyed myself and would return

Tasty Cuban food. We shared the tres leches cake for dessert between 3 of us and it was delicious and more than a big enough portion size. Delightful live salsa music and even though there wasn't much, there was some space to dance. Had a very fun time. Drinks do seem on the more expensive side but everything else is great.

The food is good and affordable, as a restaurant I recommend it. As a poace to attend the concert and dance as a soial, I don't recommend it. It is expensive, and ypu don't get to dance at all unless you know somebody in beforehand. I did not get the best vibes (mind you, it was a thursday and a sunday).

The live music and festive atmosphere were nice and the service was good too. Improvements can be made with the food as it is a bit on the pricier end, so value for money was expected. I ate the shrimp tacos which could have been more flavorful. A friend really enjoyed her ropa vieja and margarita. The guac and piña colada were just OK. We tried to book this place for a couple of days, but it wasn't successful. So we went to this restaurant when it opened at 8 pm without a reservation. Luckily, there was a table, we had food and drinks!! Cuban live music was playing from 9pm. Also, all the dishes we ordered were great and they have delicious pina colada!!!! When we went out of the restaurant around 10.30 pm, there were a lot of people waiting outside to get inside!

Spectacular! The owner and the staff made us feel so welcome. It was all decked out for Canada Day and we were looking for a spot to celebrate while on our travels. Best breakfast and also had gluten free options!!!

Such a nice pub! Went to watch the F1 and arrived 30 mins before the race to snatch the last table. Would recommend booking a table in advance or arriving an hour to 45 mins before the race for a table. The food was fresh and delicious!

We went here to watch the Champions League football, there were 2 projector screens and multiple other tv’s dotted around the pub so you could see it from wherever you were. The food and staff were also amazing. Great pub in a great location!

I have been dreaming of this burger since I visited James Joyce Irish Pub Madrid a few years ago. Stopped in after a long day and asked if the burger was good. I was guaranteed that it would be the best burger I ever ate and I’ll be honest…to this day I have not had a better burger. I know it’s weird that I had the best burger ever in Madrid, but it’s true. I’ve eaten burgers all over the world and rather fancy myself a burger snob and this is the best burger ever. Highly recommended to anyone in the area!

Came here twice, the 2nd time to watch the Women's European Cup final, which conveniently, happened to be Spain Vs England. Even though the pub was full during the earlier F1, they managed to find us a table. The match atmosphere was fab, with the benefit of England winning

Love this bar! The staff are super friendly and make you feel genuinely welcome. They recommend the perfect cocktails based on your preferences. The drinks are delicious — probably the best Negroni I’ve ever had (the bartender was right, haha). I’ll definitely be back!

There is not much to say, except that this is one of the best Bars I have ever been to across the World. Fantastic and Individual cocktails, a stylish and modern atmosphere and most important: Extraordinary friendly and motivated staff in a great mood. The prices are absolutely fair for what is offered. A must visit in Madrid for anyone who fancys a nice drink!

This spot was 10/10. Great drinks, complimentary chips, excellent service, and a unique vibe. They have a large assortment of cocktails. I personally loved the Veneco (a soursop based drink). They have mocktails (alcohol free) too so there's something for everyone. Line goes by fast.

The atmosphere in this place is on point. Very good vibes as soon as you walk in. The service was great, and they were very attentive, constantly filling up my water without asking, which I really appreciate because I love water. The drinks, they were amazing. Not only the presentation was spectacular, their taste and uniqueness was superb. I wish we found this place earlier as we would’ve definitely came back more than once. Finally made it there after much fanfare about it. An institution in Madrid but a disappointment. Their calamari was blend and tough. Expensive for the portions provided. Beautiful traditional eateries located near the Royal Palace. Very traditional tapas menu with fantastic freshly cooked food. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Very traditional place you could easily just come for drinks or tapas but I would highly recommend both, we loved it. The wine choices are excellent try the house wine first you probably will be very happy. (One thing to note, the food is so nice but if you are used to UK tapas portions, you will find the portion sizes here about twice the size of at home so be careful not to over order. That said, they are so kind, the staff will package up food if you want to take away).

What a great little bar. We sat inside on a hot afternoon as all the outside tables were full and old we did. Cute little tables by the bar. Lovely decor inside. Friendly staff, good prices and lovely tapas with a freebie salad. What's not to like? Relaxing and cool, over the road from the Cathedral and Palace Real. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

The magnificent atmosphere is combined with a wonderful musical experience. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed that we paid for the dinner menu; they've completely commercialized the whole thing. The concert we attended lasted about an hour and ended too quickly. After us, the same group played a second concert for other guests, also around an hour. Of course, this amount is worth paying for such a beautiful venue and atmosphere, but it should be for a single group of guests, not two. Still, thank you for the wonderful atmosphere and service.

It was a special night as we celebrated my husband's Birthday in Cafe Central. Perfect in every moment - profeccional and delicate bar team, delicious drinks and snaks, relaxed atmosphere. And of course the most precious emotions we got from amazing Adrian Costa Blues Band! What a sound and music energy they create! Thanks a lot !!!

Fantastic jazz club in las Lettras barrio! If you like Jazz and you are in Madrid, Cafe Central is a must!

Mario is a legend. The food was great. The band were awesome.

This is an emblematic jazz establishment in Madrid, very good bands and music for the past few decades. This was my second time there, first one more than 10 years ago. 5 stars for music and atmosphere, 4 stars for service (they forgot about our order and quite difficult to get their attention even if the place is not huge). But I guess one can’t have it all. Cover charge for that Saturday was 30 Eur per person. Bonus: one of the waiters is a saxophone player and went on stage for a few songs.

An obligatory stop-off is a must for one of their famous "yayos" - a mix of gin, red vermouth and a dash of "casera" sweet soda. These things are delicious and dangerous alike. I say stop for one, and you could maybe stretch to two, but stop there - quit whilst you're ahead! Yayos are often the start of an epic (and somewhat messy) night in Malasaña. The bar is legendary, and the bar staff are too. There aren't too many places like this left, so it's worth a visit, and I'm sure you'll be back. The food options aren't anything special, so stick with olives or something basic if you really need a bite. You likely won't have time to eat though as the bar has a quick turnaround and gets crazy busy at peak times (from 20:00 onwards) so go early or prepare to wait / squeeze your way in!

Everything was perfect, and the vibe was incredibly chill. Even as a traveler, I felt cozy and found it easy to order drinks and food. I highly recommend all the alcoholic beverages here. Pair them with a few finger foods, like the classic olives and pickles, for a great experience!

Fantastic vermouth bar! I think of this place so fondly. I visited twice during my stay and wish they would sell me a bottle of their vermouth to take home. Absolute must visit if you’re in town. You get simple tapas with each drink order and the drinks could not be stronger nor cheaper. Their yayos are made with vermouth, gin, and tonic. The owner is kind and friendly as well. Plop down on the bar and order as much as you can drink and eat!

I just came for the Yayo, which was very good. But the atmosphere in the place is very nice. Where I come from we call this a "Brown Pub" - a cosy place that looks more or less like when it open for 100 years ago, full of history and charm. The lady that served me didn't speak English but was very good at taking it slow in Spanish. I didn't know that I was to Vermouth untill this trip. A must visit

It was very good Hendrick's gin. The price is more expensive than on average, but the portion is big as well. Great to visit this place and take a break with a cold tasty gin.

For a bar called Gin Bar, the selection of gin was nothing special..and they couldn't make a simple gin martini or an Army and Navy. Also overpriced, €24 for two gin and tonics!

We went twice - once for brunch in the restaurant area and once for early evening tapas at the bar. While brunch was decent, the tapas were great, especially their tortilla with caramelized onions. Sit at the bar for a quick bite and a glass of wine.

Very good Gin bar in a busy part of town. We visited after having dinner close by and, being big Gin drinkers, were extremely happy with when we found an intimate venue with an extensive Gin menu. We tried half a dozen different Spanish Gins between us. The barman, Miguel, was very helpful & knowledgable and his recommendation of Macaronesian Gin was superb. The music was also very good as were the complimentary sweets.

Very, very popular so avoid weekends and holidays. Best to go a little early if you want a place in the evening. There is a queue to go up, but it's not too bad. This is Madrid's most historic rooftop bar... under the watchful eyes of the goddess Minerva and her Owl since 1966. A wonderful experience ! Don't miss it !

Avoid the Restaurant – Go Only for the View Our experience at Azotea del Círculo was extremely disappointing. First, you’re required to pay €6 just to go up to the restaurant, which would be fine if the experience matched the cost—but it absolutely did not. The service was some of the worst I’ve ever encountered. There were about five servers for only a handful of tables, yet they constantly ignored guests, avoided eye contact, and rushed straight to the kitchen to dodge customer interaction. When we tried flagging them down, they would walk away or act as if we weren’t there. One server even spilled water all over our food and table while pouring, and instead of apologizing or offering to help, he carried on as if nothing had happened. We ended up cleaning up the mess ourselves with dinner napkins, which he never replaced. It took an unreasonable amount of time to get our order taken, request additional items, or receive any attention at all. The servers had a consistently rude and dismissive attitude that made the whole experience unpleasant. The food itself was mediocre and overpriced—not terrible, but definitely not worth the hassle. The only redeeming quality here is the rooftop view, which is stunning. My recommendation: skip the restaurant entirely. If you want to enjoy the view, go up for cocktails at the bar, but don’t waste your time or money on the dining experience.

How can you go wrong with a rooftop top restaurant? Gratefully we had perfect weather. We made reservations for lunch and glad we went in the day. View is spectacular! Food and drinks were good.

Visited on October 12, just as fireworks lit up the Madrid sky — an unforgettable evening. The view from the rooftop is one of the most beautiful in the city, overlooking Gran Vía and the elegant rooftops that define old Madrid. The service was friendly, the cocktails perfectly mixed, and the atmosphere balanced between lively and serene. It’s the kind of place where time slows down for a while, where the city’s light and music feel close enough to touch. On our last stop on our Spain trip we had two days in Madrid. We decided that since it was the last place we should try to go to a cool club, and after seeing some videos online we decided on Kapital. We bought our tickets online and went to the club. Arriving to the club, there was a long line and the bouncers were a bit rude, and it turned out the tickets we bought were for the world day since it was past midnight, so we had to buy tickets again inside. The inside was super cool, there were 2 main dance floors, a keroke room, and more. The top level was closed but the building was packed. The tickets we got had two free drink vouchers, which was nice because after that each drinks is a whopping €16. There was a “headlining” dj that night and the theme was Egyptian which I thought was super cool. This is definitely a younger seen with most of people there being from study abroad programs. Overall I think if you ate in Madrid you should totally come to this club for the experience, but it was a bit expensive and a lot of energy.

RUDE AND RACIST, DO NOT GO HERE! On Friday 12th September, myself and a group of friends had a VIP table reserved on the main floor (booked through a reputable promoter at Madrid Lux). We followed the timing advice and dress code provided to us, dressed smart, etc. What happened upon arrival completely shocked us, after spending ages waiting at the VIP entrance for the host to check us in and let us through I messaged the promoter for an update, the host at the door finally came back and said they only have tables on the top floor. I mentioned we had agreed a table on the main floor booked weeks in advanced, they then said they only have one table available there and it would be almost 3 times the amount at €1300 or we could go to level four for a table at a closer price to what we had agreed which they knew we had no interest in. We were shocked as we agreed a price at €480 in the main room, as per their site. I mentioned to the promoter and he said he would check with the host. He then came back and said dress code was an issue which was odd as we all were dressed smartly. Then when I challenged he came back and said apparently it’s do with turbans. Then admittedly mentioned that the club was racist and for us ‘to check reviews against black and Chinese’ people. This left a sour taste in our mouth and we immediately left and went elsewhere as we could tell they are racist to people of colour. What a disgusting institute! Don’t go here!

I bought tickets for the club in advance and was really looking forward to the evening. Unfortunately, we were denied entry simply because we are dark-skinned. We were dressed elegantly and followed all the rules, yet we were still not allowed in – without any understandable reason. It is sad and disappointing that something like this can still happen in 2025. No one should be discriminated against because of their skin color or background. The person who refused us entry is the man shown in the picture on the website – this man turns away dark-skinned individuals. I ask everyone who has experienced something similar to report it as well, so that action can be taken against this kind of behavior. I do not recommend anyone with dark skin or a foreign background to visit this club or buy tickets there. Racism has no place – anywhere!

The atmosphere was great. This was my second time here. Most reviews that mention the staff are spot on. They are slightly bothered at best to super rude without regard to your appearance. The house music was garbage in the main floor on Saturday night. Bottle service was super cheap at around 240 euros for absolute. There were pricier options. The line getting in was quick. The place could be fantastic with better customer service but if you don't care about the interaction, it's great. I have owned 4 nightclubs and would literally fire staff for treating customers in the manner that I was spoken to.

An old classic theater turned into a massive club with multiple stages and dj’s, famous discotheque for decades in the heart of Madrid! Went early for a private company event, few hours before the opening and had time to take pictures while still empty, except our private stage on the third floor.

The security, the bar counter were all very respectful and polite and that mattered to me the most. The club itself has a good vibe to it. Less of drunken slobs and more of people having a good time. And the whoosh of air from the ceiling, something unique! Wonderful experience overall.

It's one of the best discotheque we have seen. Great dance floor, music, electronic effects, ambience, crowd . Superb. Must be visited if visiting Madrid.

La Casa del Abuelo surely a very popular place for locals and tourist to go. As I sat there so many locals eating their Tapas and enjoying themselves. I went there for the shrimp. I was disappointed with the price €18.50. I’m sorry that was too expensive for you and I had to go around the corner to find one for €14. But I have to say that the quality looks pretty good, but the price for me was yo no! Now they have two locations just across the street from one another, and you can see the action and the vibration is a little bit higher there with the workers shouting out to one another sitting people down. You can see in the main location how they prepare the food if you want. They have these funny little tables in the middle of the room where you can place your food and drinks and stand and eat if you like Also seems like a place where locals come eat a bit drink and have a chat. For me, it’s like a local scene bar from the city To be honest with you, I just sat and had a beer and felt the vibration and had a nice time, but was disappointed that I could not try their shrimp thing because of the cost. Hopefully this review will give you a good idea of the location if you’re not worried about money go have a good time. The service just a snappy as it can be. I do recommend this place, but I warn you is expensive

Enjoying Tapas at La Casa del Abuelo was a very memorable and amazing experience🇪🇸❤️💯 The dining al fresco with all the people watching in the perfect weather was amazing. The patio area was so nice to enjoy just sitting and eating for hours. We had the Gambas Al Ajillo (their signature dish) and it was perfect! They have been making this dish for more than 100 years and it shows! The shrimp were perfect. Paired with a little vermout and some Spanish white wine this was an experience I will enjoy for years to come.

Maybe on the pricier side, but definitely one of the best things I had in Spain. From Canada! (4.5/5) I came here with my friend while we were tapas hopping and we stumbled upon this place. We ordered their ajillo (kind of like a garlic butter shrimp) and a couple shots of vermouth. The total bill came to 32 euros for two (receipt attached). It was mindblowing how delicious the ajillo was. There is soooo much garlic and buttery goodness infused with the shrimp, and it make each bite so savory. I used the bread to literally eat up all the sauce and make sure there was nothing left. The service was subpar, but I think it is worth it just to come for the ajillo and the atmosphere (it is very close to the city center). Highly recommend!

Came here for tapas and a concert broke out! Great atmosphere, lively bar. The waiters are very friendly, helpful, and also get in on the music! Tapas are very tasty and drinks are refreshing.

This bar is famous in Madrid because it has been around forever (OK, not forever but for over 100 years). We sat outside, they have properties on both sides of the road. The staff were efficient, hard working but very polite and welcoming. The bar is famous for the garlic prawns, honestly you better like garlic as you can smell them from half way down the street. Absolutely delicious. A really nice way to spend a bit of time in the afternoon with a couple of beers, some prawns and bread and watch the world go by.

Came for the garlic shrimp! Didn’t disappoint! I don’t know why all the bad reviews! These people are crazy. The shrimp was fresh and delicious. Freshly made! Lots of garlic (bit too much even)only complaint is about the bread: it was a bit dry but at 8pm it was probably not just baked so it’s fine. The waiter is a vibe! He is whistling, shouting at people in Spanish! 😆 Loved it! He made sure I got a table as soon as I got to the restaurant. I came at 8pm so just before the dinner crowd but still only 2 tables were left outside. Inside full of locals! Very nice experience! 18€ for shrimp with bread and 3€ for a glass of wine!

Had quite a disappointing experience here in spite of all the accolades and recommendations. The famous gambas al ajillo was not very fragrant from garlic or olive oil, there were lots of shells still on the shrimp, and also a lot of sand in the shrimp and oil/sauce. The huevos rotos also had unevenly cooked and greasy potatoes, overcooked eggs, and very salty. The mushrooms were overcooked too. Very expensive for very poorly executed food. Not worth even a one time visit for a traveller in Madrid.

Commercial nightclub that all the promoters and Sol wants you to go to. It’s a fair place and we had a good night but one of our friends got her bag cut open and got all of the valuables stolen. We talked to the staff but of course there was nothing they could do about it. Apart from the incident, it is still not my favorite club in Madrid but they have a lot of events for people who wants to go partying

Lovely venue. Saw Stereolab. Upstairs offers more viewing options. There were some seats upstairs , but you'd need to be queuing and up at opening to get them. The place is fully air conditioned too. Only downside was the sound upstairs ( for us) . The speakers upstairs on the balcony were so bass heavy, they odscured the rest on the on stage sound. The speaker near us cut out a few times and suddenly, you could hear the instrumentation and vocals more clearly. Please get the sound engineers to address this issue. Gracias x

Beatuful place & Nice atmosphere, enjoyable party - but some waiters could be more serveminded

They sell tickets saying you get anticipated entry at 12.. but you stay in lime until nearly 1am anyway while half of the party gets in for free. Security is aggressive and non-supportive. There are plenty of better places to go.

As I wanted table water I though I might as well get the appesriser and bread and water offered at €2.50. what a wow the appesriser was, mushroom foam that looked like a tiny cappuccino. I ordered tagliatelle with pesto and walnuts and rocket. It was fantastic. So tasty, the pasta fresh. Lots of vegetarian items on the menu. Sublime interior decor, with warm lighting. Very efficient waiting staff. A real treat. Very well priced for such top quality food

The restaurant is a real delight inside the museum. We loved all the dishes. Tiramisu was a special treat, both in terms of quality & presentation. So glad there is such a good restaurant inside the museum so visitors do not need to venture out whilst visiting the venue.

While everyone was nice our waiter took twenty minutes to come and take our order even tho the place was half empty. Everything took forever. The bathroom was not very clean. There was a lot of personal doing nothing while we waited for our order. In the end they forgot to give us our coffee included in our brunch, we had to remind them. Ridiculously expensive. 250 euros for 4 people. Brunch and 8 mimosas.

We went to see Carlos Devanti with our kids 9 and 5. Both Italian and English speakers but the older one understands a bit of Spanish. They both loved it. It was AMAZING. A show for everyone. Carlos is unbelievable, so so good and so funny. I had not laugh this much for a long long time! Definitely book it and enjoy it!!

Great small theater with a wide variety of productions, including improv in English. The Spanish language productions are more varied and include short form theater and magic. You can buy tickets online and skip the box office. They have a pleasant bar and terrace.

Like walking info a small museum . This place has old artifacts of past Spain and full of atmosphere just for this I would have a quick bite here. We had the specialty of baby eal toast and shrimp toast olives were complementary. They are also very nice

We were recommended this Tapas restaurant as one being the the oldest (1904) in Madrid located at Plaza Santa Ana. The plaza itself is busy and happening. There was a group dancing to music on headphones. Another one doing circus tricks. We had to wait a few mino to get a table. Ordered a beer some wine and A mixed plates of Ham and Cod Croquettes which were good, we then had the cod tempura which was not crispy and had no taste, the sausage was good and came with a single sausage with small sides of coleslaw, and sauerkraut

I only ordered a Russian salad so I can’t comment too much on their food. But in general the food, service, price and atmosphere isn’t bad It’s a very classy vibe with history. Staff is friendly. Massive options for bottle beer. I’m satisfied with my experience here

Nice traditional Madrid bar atmosphere in the Santa Ana square area, although it is not what once it used to be. Service was rather slow, food portions were small and overpriced. It looks like the place became complacent offering a mediocre service because they are in a great location and people are constantly comming in and out anyway.

I go here every time I come to Madrid and it's highly reliable -- you'll pay slightly more than some other places but it's well worth it. Massive beer selection, good Iberian hams and cheeses AND the best salad I've had in Madrid. Note: it's labeled "lettuce and tomato" and they do a half-portion too. Do NOT get half! AND it comes with tuna, corn, onion and olives -- chock-full of goodness. It's enough for 3 hungry people and is fresh and excellent. Be friendly to the staff and not an arrogant rube and they'll treat you like a local -- I've had superb service on every visit. Order a Spanish beer or wine, tell'em your Dad came here -- whatever it takes to warm them to you a bit -- and it'll go a long way here. It's clean, attractive and fun. One of the best spots on Plaza Santa Ana. This is a great district with lots of choices but you can't go wrong here.

This historic cocktail bar and restaurant, over 100 years old, is split into two areas: the front for dining and the rear for the bar, which also accommodates private events. The service was friendly and efficient. We ordered the Ravioli XL de rabo de toro con crema ligera de patata, Ensaladilla rusa con tarta de gambón rojo, Carrillera de cerdo ibérico en su jugo y crema fina de patata, and Entrêcote fileteado con salsa bistrot de París y patatas fritas. Portions were generous, and the overall quality of the dishes was well above average. Thanks to The Fork's promotion, our bill came to around 60 EUR including drinks — a great value considering the central, tourist-heavy location. The only downside was a private event taking place during our visit, which made the music extremely loud—more like a nightclub than a restaurant. Unfortunately, despite making the reservation two weeks in advance, we weren’t informed about this, which made it hard to enjoy a proper conversation. Because of that, the overall experience was less than ideal.

What a GRAND experience along Gran Via! Beautiful interior, fantastic history,great food (for brunch on Sunday), and excellent service. Im sorry I discovered this gem so late in my visit, I would have been a regular. I had the “unlimited “ mimosas, and started with more than I could eat of meats, cheeses, breads, melon, yogurt…a tower of delicious treats, along with a smoothie, and then a perfectly cooked hamburguesa with fries. I’m not a big fan of eggs, and there were several options I didn’t choose… So good I made a reservation for Next weekend brunch. And a special thanks to Candela who was both kind and professional. The decor and historic charm of Museo Chicote were impressive, you can truly feel the legacy of this iconic spot. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the ambiance. Within a 2 minute window of being seated, three different servers came by asking if we were ready to order, which made the experience feel rushed and unwelcoming. The menu was only in Spanish, so it took us a bit to review and confirm our selections. When our food finally arrived, two plates were served instead of three, even though we all ordered the same dish. To add to the experience, when I asked for a glass of Cabernet, I was told they didn’t have any, only for the server to finally agree they did after I pointed it out on their menu. Overall, it felt like we were being rushed or unwelcome rather than guests. While the space itself has a wonderful history, the service experience unfortunately overshadowed it.

An absolute find!! We stumbled across this little gem on our first day in Madrid. We were seated in the front deli section on some high tables and had the most delicious selection of local meats, cheese and wine. Very reasonably priced and a wonderful atmosphere. Andre was so friendly and made our experience one to remember. We would recommend this place to everyone!

A very unique place and one of the very few shops in Madrid where you can eat your food and drink wine before buying it. Everything was great in terms of flavour. However, it appears to be very popular with tourists, and since me and my friend were sitting by the window we felt like we were on constant display while we were eating, since several tourist groups stopped by at this exact spot. Found La Taberna Sanlúcar just outside the buzz of La Latina, and loved the authentic Spanish vibe. Went at 11:30pm on a Wednesday and it was packed with people—clearly a neighborhood favorite. The food is all about sharing—tapas for two, raciones for a bigger group. Everything we tried was delicious and on point. Even though the place was buzzing, the waiters were very attentive and friendly. It’s nice to find a lively spot that’s not touristic even late on a weekday. Will be going back to try more tapas and raciones!

Thanks for the hospitality! Randomly walked by after leaving the Saint Francisco Cathedral and entered this restaurant. Quite popular during Sunday lunch hours, I didn’t make reservation so had to sit at the entrance bar table area. I also had difficulty reading Spanish, but other customers were very friendly and helped me translate and make recommendation. They told me it’s a locally favorite place with good quality for price. There was a gentleman at the back of their restaurant (guess it’s the owner?), who kindly offered me free jamon tapa, which was really great!

Quaint tavern for wine, beer, and delicious food. There are only seven small barrel tables in the main dining room. The walls are decorated with old bullfighting posters and what not. The waiter took his time, but in a good way he would sit at all the tables and chat with the patrons. His food suggestions were excellent and very pleasant. They had run out of some popular items, yes I'm looking at you, croquetas de la abuela, when we ordered. He brought over a bean and olive tapa to nibble on as you look at the menu. Enjoyed the tortillitas de camarón caseras, adobo sanluqueno, papas con choco. Recommend!

This is the restaurant we liked best on our last trip to Madrid. Delicious Cádiz-style kitchen, a local favorite, it's always crowded and in a good spirit. Best with a reservation, but if you don't mind waiting the guys there make all they can to find a table for you. We love La Taberna Sanlúcar!

The food was good and the atmosphere was cozy and authentic, which we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. One of our waiters was kind and helpful, but another seemed very nervous and eager for us to leave. He served dishes in a rush, placed plates almost by throwing them, and moved very slowly when we needed something. In the end, he even cancelled one of our main dishes because he wasn’t carrying what we ordered and seemed to just want to finish our table as soon as possible. It’s a shame, because the restaurant has great potential, but the service really affected the overall experience.

The food was really delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and pleasant. However, our experience was negatively affected by the service. For a table of four, we were given only one menu, and it was in Spanish, even though we clearly said we don’t speak Spanish. The dishes were brought out one by one — maybe that’s something typical for the restaurant, but we weren’t informed about it. This led to a rather uncomfortable situation where the waiter started pushing us to pay the bill, and as a result, one of our dishes never even arrived. It’s a shame, because the food and the place itself were great, but the service really needs improvement.

tourist friendly!! me and my friend stumbled across this cocktail bar and we were so happy that we did. the service was incredible and all servers went above and beyond to make us comfortable and smile. the drinks were absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced. each drink also came with bar snacks which was an added bonus (crisps and nuts). the interior was beautifully decorated and had an old fashioned but classy feel to it. i would recommend the pink lady, sweet but lovely!! thank you for making our final night in Madrid special :)

They don’t offer food, but you can order snacks. Drinks come with chips, and they only have indoor seating, which feels quite isolated from the outside. This might not be ideal for those who enjoy a more social atmosphere with their neighbors while having a drink. We ordered a Gimlet and a Moscow Mule—both were strong. The staff was friendly and professional.

While the ambiance could have been slightly improved, the overall experience at this bar was great — a perfect spot for a delightful drink with exceptional service.

Nice big cocktail card to choose from. I had the Dama blanca and Gimlet and they both were very good. I personally am not a big fan of the interior decoration because I feel it looks a bit old fashioned. But design is always a matter of preference so someone else it might really like the decoration.

We walked past it twice before deciding to have a look of this place, and it always seemed very busy. You might need to spend some time at the bar before getting a table. Sangrias were great there as well as jamon and other hams. The service was a bit slow and might not attend to you very often. I also would have liked if it was cleaner. Besides that I enjoyed my time there.

Famous with Madrillenos and for good reason this is the perfect place to while away a couple of hours in the afternoon ... buzzing with locals and visitors alike the beer is cold and there is a good selection of wines by the glass.. Buy a drink and get a plate of somethig tasty on the house.. Great vibe..

A quick stop at Stop Madrid for a quick snack and glass of wine. The spicy chorizo from Zamora and the anchovies in vinegar was the highlights of the Tapa choices, there are much more to choose from these was my favorites. I liked the atmosphere, old style location with high ceilings and shells showing of bottles of wine a liquor.

Classic pub reinvented into a craft beer haven in the Barrio de las Letras. The new ownership kept the wooden paneling and retro decor of the tavern originally founded in the 1950´s. But Toño "Chinaski" flipped the concept to craft beer reopening in 2021 with dedicated rotating taps, a hand pump, and ample canned and bottled offerings, while keeping other classic bar options for vermouth, wine or liquor lovers. It offers a relaxed and cozy vibe with DJ sessions, beer events, and the like. The venue can get busy in the evenings. But it is also one the great late night stops in the area where many folks chose to close an evening out, or cap a hospitality work shift nearby. While it does not have a full kitchen operation, it offers notable charcuterie and cheese boards, as well as some surprisingly tasty tamales. Professional, friendly and very easy going staff round up the experience. It definitely has become one of the key spots of the new craft beer scene in Madrid, while keeping the old neighborhood feeling.

Great pub that focuses on microbrews. Over a dozen on tap! Enjoyed this micro beer pub. Lots of great choices, and was very pleased that they had samplers where you choose your own four tastings. That is a great way to experience a lot of different beers, without overindulging. Liked the modern beers in a classic pub environment, if you enjoy craft beers this is a must-stop.

We LOVED it here, so much that in our couple of days here in Madrid, we came twice. The bartenders remembered us and even remembered the exact beers we had the day before. The place has a nice homey feel, the food is great. We got the tamales (one of each) and they were great. There were many different beers on tap from across Europe. They even had a beer from our hometown, Seattle!! I was so shocked to see this. I’d highly recommend this place and if it’s not too busy, strike up a good conversation with the people working there. They like the things that are different and special in life.

It was nice to have a few glass sizes so you can get a small beer before you continue to explore the city. Friendly barman and excellent service including helping us in English. Highly recommend a visit to see what's currently being served.

We had a lovely dinner at España Cañi last night, the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We had the chicken Cesar salad, chicken paella and chicken curry with rice. They were all delicious dishes and I would recommend trying them all. The rice with the curry was dry but apart from that all 5/5 star meals. I have food allergies and the staff were so great at understanding and ensuring the meals were safe from my allergen. They offer indoor and outdoor seating.

Value for money, taste is good. Will come again and recommend to everyone.

I went here for dinner. I ordered a small portion of tapas like ham croquette and garlic prawn with olive oil (Gambas de ajillo) The taste was good but may be a bit salty. The prawn was so fresh. The restaurant had a place for you to drink too if you want.

CASH ONLY! We arrived on suggestion from one of the patrons on the patio to try the callos a la madrileña, which was flavorful and perfectly cooked. One of the shop members also recommended the albóndigas which were very tasty; we left no crumbs or drops behind! The bodega advertised origins from the 1860s, and has a charming vintage feel.

What a fabulous find! This is a family-run place, and Mom is literally in the kitchen making the most delicious meals. My husband and I had the most enjoyable time chatting with the two servers (and mom). It's a small-ish menu, but everything is perfection, and the bartender guided us to some of the tastiest tapas we had in all of Madrid. Keep in mind this is a small, cash-only place, but if you get a seat, you'll be in for a treat!

It's been a tradition for us for 20 years to have a vermut at Ricla, during every trip to Madrid. Today, they practically kicked us out for not wanting lunch. I believe they changed to table service rather than a bar or taberna during covid. What was a casual little friendly bar now has dozens of signs about no bar, eating only, etc. Very unwelcoming. Reserved tables were perhaps for tour groups. It's sad. We were okay ordering something but just felt unwelcome. Instead went a few doors down to Casa Fraile for a vermut at the bar and they have us free tapas of a pretty decent tortilla.

No credit cards since 1867... Which is very rare in Spain because all the shops and restaurants accept cards. I'm very torn about this place because it is NOT for tourists: they don't make you feel welcome, they don't speak English, they don't provide English menus, they don't cater to tourists, they cater to locals... And I think that's as it should be with a place like this. It's authentic... a group of old men at the bar looking as though they've been going there for decades, we were completely ignored by staff. Don't go if you're in a rush to see/do other things because it's not that kind of place... Took a while to take our order, took a while to get food.. the pace just slowed down as soon as we sat down. Again, as it should be. This place has been around since 1867 and it's not changing for anyone, anytime soon.

Went with a group and got 3 negronis, the waiter didn't say anything and happily got our drinks. We were going to order more drinks and the other waiter there came over and said we clearly must not read Spanish because the tables are for food only. Then repeated it again twice and slid the menu infront of my face. I said we just wanted drinks and aren't hungry and he insisted we get food or .... So we left. Not very welcoming and maybe specific when tourists come in and not try to force feed them. The negronis were good but definitely weird instead of bringing us another round. The original waiter was very nice. Pretty sure second guy was the owner.

This is the real place to go. Get away from the tourist traps and come here. Great vermouth on tap! Get it with a splash of soda which is called pinceladas. They give you free tapas with your drinks here and you can order some very reasonably priced tapas like bocarones en vinagre which are great. The callos are best in Madrid. This is one of the few places that actual Spaniards still come to. Highly recommended.

Bar Cock in Madrid is a quiet, enjoyable escape with excellent drinks and timeless charm. The atmosphere feels both historic and intimate, perfect for relaxing after a long day. Cocktails are crafted with care, and the service reflects the bar’s reputation as one of the city’s true gems. I walked in half-expecting to run into Penélope Cruz—though she was busy elsewhere—but the connection to her husband, Javier Bardem, was a delightful surprise. I learned that he recently had an art exhibition here, which only adds to the bar’s cultural depth and history. An iconic Madrid institution that lives up to its name—sophisticated, discreet, and always memorable.

Overpriced and small drinks. We ordered one alcohol free cocktail which cost 10€ and one spicy margarita that cost 14€. The margarita was quite small and was just “ok”. The cocktail wasn’t really spicy, mainly the rim. The bartender did seem to take his job seriously. Water wasn’t automatically served as it should be in a proper cocktail place. The environment is interesting, although in the week perhaps a bit dead. All in all, I can get a much better spicy cocktail up the road for 10€. So, perhaps things for the business to reflect on and improve.

The cocktails were good, however the place should have some updates, like bar stools and maybe some high tables with stools.

Interesting mix of cocktail bar and pub vibes. Very lively and energetic. Drinks were good and atmosphere kept up to the drinks! Good spot to have a few to end the night!

Be here or be square! We crashed here for the night after Arco Madrid. Great atmosphere, a lot of fun people having fun. Made new friends and had a great time with our old ones. If you’re in Madrid and are looking for a hip late night experience, and perhaps a killer hangover, this is the place to be!

I came in expecting so much more out of this bar and was very much of a downer. For the things we saw online and YouTube they paint it out to be a great atmosphere that is lively and it felt like a nursing home with a great bar. The drink menu was also underwhelming-I personally think it might be because they like to elevate traditional cocktails, but that’s not what I want from a bar like this, I want their creativity their vision of spirits and how they interpret that in the experience they provide. I got none of that. I was very disappointed and my drink though good was something I could get at any good bar.

My Old Fashioned was boozy and delicious. The space is wood paneled and warm, though the modern dance music and the black and white portraits around the room (as beautiful as they are) are confusing. But the drinks are good, and that's what counts.

Mal servicio, y muy caro! I was told it was a nice place that was reasonably priced. Over all the service was very slow and outrageously expensive. 12 euros for a cup of crushed ice passed on as a mojito. What a joke! Many other places in Madrid that are better and less expensive.

Dip de mozarella con salmorejo and rollito Sam de ternera... two amazing dishes for share, the best I have eaten, especially the rollito. Very nice presentation and surprisingly not too expensive. The ingredients are well elaborated and at high quality.

The place itself is nice, but I will not forgive the waiter for giving me change with a ripped bill. I didn't notice at the time, but I am pretty sure it was intentional

I really enjoyed the food there and the atmosphere on the rooftop was amazing. I recommend the set menu (tasting menu), although the amount of food is really huge. I liked the starters better, but maybe the reason was that there was too much food. I would recommend to make the meals a bit smaller and a few euros cheaper. Perfect place both for meeting up with friends and to take a wife/girlfriend there.

One of the most interesting terraces in Madrid - worth a visit! Great for a classy light dinner or drink. The only problem: it's always packed and very likely, you will have to wait in the list!

I like this place for a sole thing: it has one of the nicest views of Lavapies, the neighborhood where is located. The place practically has no interiors, so the only place where you can get a seat to have a drink or a snack it's outside... And with the good weather that is almost mission impossible. But if you succeed, it's a great place to spend and evening while enjoying a mojito. I always said that the best way to understand Madrid is from the top. The whole builiding is worth a visit, with the the view of the old church of the Escuelas Pías converted in the university library after one of the best restorations of a building made in the last years.

We started having dinner at 8.30pm and literally kicked us out at 10pm because they have 2 dinner rounds!!!! One at 8.30pm and another one at 10pm. It is worse than middle school. Food is not good either. Don't go.

It's shut down, people! We found this uni where it's situated and the huge notice on the door said "Gau&Cafe is closed until further notice" (((( Very sad, don't waste your time!
