Pastry shop
Bakery
Breakfast restaurant
Located in the heart of Madrid's bustling Puerta del Sol, La Mallorquina is a historic pastry shop and cafe that has been serving traditional Spanish pastries, cakes, and sweets since 1894. The bakery downstairs offers a wide variety of pastries such as 'ensaimada' pastries, croissants, and the famous 'napolitanas,' while the upstairs cafe provides a charming setting to enjoy breakfast with views overlooking the lively square.
Super busy most time of the day. Ordered 5 items that could be taken away and was wrapped nicely and easy to take on plane. Everything was delish without being too sweet. Large in portion for the reasonable prices. Wanted to try everything!!
J W — Google review
Had the vanilla napolitana, a ham and cheese sandwich, and a strawberry cake. Good quality food. After a walking tour, a stop here for their cake got my sugar going again.
Maria L — Google review
The last time I bought a pastry here it was quite tasty, but my recent visit was disappointing. I noticed that one employee, presumably a baker, was moving the pastries from one tray to another using blue gloves. This caught my attention because, unlike the sellers who use tongs, it raises concerns about hygiene. We don’t know how clean those gloves are or when they were last changed, and it’s difficult to ensure they remain clean if removed and put back on. I found this practice unpleasant and decided not to buy anything. While the products themselves may be good, for me hygiene is more important than taste, which is why I’m giving three stars.
Oleksandra D — Google review
Nice place to start off your day, quite a lot of different choices, there are 2 entrances (or one of them is exit im not sure), one of them is with a long queue (right next to metro exit). One little tip is that you should just enter via the other entrance as from what I observed, some people just enter via the other entrance and places order, while for the long queue as they are waiting outside, they do not know their line are getting cut, the staff do not care neither as they are super busy. It is kind of messy but the food tastes good and thats all i care.
Alex Y — Google review
Queued before they opened. Came in for the cream and chocolate napolitana and coffee. Came back a couple of days later. They have a queue for a reason! Wish I could have brought back the pastries to Dubai - so good.
Jocelyn V — Google review
Very traditional place, the sweets where amazing. The staff is fast. You also have upstairs a Tea Salon. There is a high diversity of sweets, but also more brunch pastery as well.
Filipa P — Google review
My favourite pastelería in Madrid. The first place I visit as soon as we arrive. Grab a table upstairs, eat at the bar, or takeaway and enjoy your food in one of Madrid's many plazas. You won't be disappointed!
Ryan B — Google review
This place is an establishment so this review is just a small drop of water in an ocean of information. But we did not see this as a "must try" kind of place. We stopped in for a quick breakfast pastry and we both got a chocolate croissant. They were ok at best. The problem we both had was that they were extraordinarily sweet. While this pastry is always going to be sweet, this was sweeter than dessert-level. It seemed the dough was sweet, the filling was sweet of course, and then it was glazed with sugar or something. While it was fine and all, I'm not sure this lived up to the hype. That said I would come back to try the savory options to see if they are more to my tastes. Obviously the place can be mobbed with people so be aware of that.

Chocolate cafe
Breakfast restaurant
Chocolate artisan
Chocolate shop
Chocolatería San Ginés, established in 1894 and located near the church of San Gines, is a renowned café in Madrid. It offers a delightful experience of savoring churros dipped in thick Spanish-style hot chocolate, with the option of thin "churros" or thick "porras". The café's charming interior features mirrors and high ceilings upstairs, as well as a cozy alcove downstairs.
The place offering hot chocolate and churros at any time of the day you want, but be prepared to wait for sometime as it's usually crowded. The taste is rich and pure, not very sweet and just apt. There is also a small bar/cafeteria for stopping by within this, but their best-seller is hot chocolate with churros. A must try for something very local and from one of the oldest places in the city, that has been running for years...
Rishika G — Google review
One of the better chocolate and churro places in Madrid. It’s been around since 1894 and has one of the commemorative plaques from the city to recognize that. We ordered the traditional chocolate and order of 6 churros. The chocolate was warm, thick and rich full of dark chocolate flavour. The churros were hot, light and crispy on the outside and slightly tender on the inside. The place is super busy. Packed with tourists with a sprinkling of locals. There are multiple seating areas inside and outside, they almost occupy the entire corner of the street up to the Plaza of San Gines. If you don’t want to a it at a table there is takeaway service. You have to order and pay first then are given a ticket before you can queue for a table. If you sit inside you can check out the pictures of all the famous people that have visited over the years. The wait for a table isn’t too bad as people usually leave after about 15 minutes anyways.
Stewart W — Google review
Good churros, but the chocolate didn’t totally convinced me 🥺. This spot seems really successful. It has a lot of locations in the same area, one next to the other, and it was full on a Tuesday night! 📍The Venue: All the locations seem very traditional and comfy. 🍽️The Churros: Obviously, we got the churros. Honestly, they were good—not oily and well-made. The only thing is that I felt the chocolate was more like a soup; I think I’m more used to a thicker consistency. The chocolate was also bitter, and I prefer a milkier and sweeter kind (I’m not sure if they offer another type). They are also a bit expensive, which I think is because of their popularity. 💁🏻‍♀️The Service: They were nice and attentive. 💭Final Thoughts: It was nice, but it wasn't something that blew my mind. Maybe it's just not my taste. Even though I still think it’s a nice spot to try some treats.
Mich C — Google review
We came all the way from Australia, and for a churro lover like me, San Ginés felt like a pilgrimage, and it was totally worth it. We visited twice during our trip: once seated downstairs, which has a charming old-world vibe with vintage mirrors, and once upstairs in the brighter area that’s perfect for photos. Both are worth experiencing, and the celebrity photo collages add a fun touch. The queue outside moves quickly (and honestly, it’s part of the fun. You’ll get some great pics for your Instagram highlights while waiting). Though the café was busy, the staff at the counter were kind and patient, happy to explain the menu and help us decide. The churros were crisp, warm, and light, while the hot chocolate was rich with a lovely cocoa flavour, slightly thinner than expected, but perfect for sipping once the churros were gone. Everything was served at just the right temperature for the winter weather, and the vanilla ice cream was delicious too. Even when it’s crowded (which it always is), the staff keep everything moving without making you feel rushed. This place truly lives up to the hype. We loved it so much that we went twice, and we’d happily come again next time we’re in Madrid. For churro lovers... or anyone who believes dessert is a perfectly valid reason to travel, this place is a must-visit.
Cloud W — Google review
Chocolatería San Ginés is such a Madrid classic! We didn’t have to wait long, which was great, and the churros with chocolate were absolutely delicious — perfectly crispy and rich. The coffee was okay, nothing special, but the main attraction definitely stole the show. If you want a sweet, iconic Madrid experience, this place is worth a visit!
Sasha M — Google review
Heavenly churros. Fried perfectly that they don’t retain oil. Out crunchy and super addictive. Paired with out of this world molten chocolate… can there be a dessert heaven on earth? Here it is! Believe me, at a 120 years old, this chocolateria has got churros and chocolate down to an art form.
M4l2K T — Google review
The churros and hot chocolate here are undeniably delicious, making them well worth trying. However, be prepared for a long wait, as the line is extensive. Furthermore, the service felt rushed and somewhat lacking, making it less of a relaxed dining experience,
H H — Google review
Great churros, amazing hot chocolate. They are obviously famous for a reason! There are several location of San Ginés around that street, so if you want shorter wait time or a place to sit inside, you can walk around and check the other stores.

Ice cream shop
Rocambolesc is a place where the renowned chef Jordi Roca showcases his innovative and surreal ice cream creations, such as Play-Doh or Lactic. The establishment reflects his irreverent and harmonious approach to flavors and textures, which extends to other artisanal treats like popsicles shaped like his own nose. Visitors can customize their ice cream with various toppings and seek advice from the expert team for the perfect combination.
I bought popsicles on 2 separate nights from here and both were unique and incredible. Yes, they’re pricey, but think about how much work is going into them and the ingredients. They’re so unique and I was not disappointed. Would go here again in a heartbeat for more of their cool popsicles.
Hoosieronthemove — Google review
When served, we were served with what we thought was an ordinary sized portion. As we were eating, we quickly realized that it was at least half the size of all the other “planet ice creams”. When i came to talk about the size of ice cream, the attendant denied everything and didn’t even give a satisfactory answer. I then went and brought one for my brother and it came with the normal portion everyone was being served. me and my girlfriend left Rocambolesc with a bad impression, although the flavor of the ice cream was amazing.
Samuel H — Google review
I expected more from a fancy ice cream store owned by a Michelin star chef. 4 soft serve flavors ( tasty) , not all popsicles were in stock.
Ashna C — Google review
It was fine. Tastes good but a bit pricey for what you get!

The best ice cream in Madrid! I found the counter staff incredibly friendly and with a great sense of humor. Overall, a great service and product!

Not sure why people don’t like it here! Ice cream is really tasty and lady behind the counter was really helpful. Not sure what others expect when they get an ice cream at a market store.
Digna N — Google review
We got the Ice Ice Baby slurp. I was expecting it to look more like the demo but it certainly didn't. The taste was good but not amazing. Overall I wouldn't spend a other 6€ for such a a tiny ice-cream that doesn't even look good in photos.

Farmers Markets
Mercado San Antón is a 12-year-old market located in the Chueca neighborhood of central Madrid. It features three levels offering a variety of gourmet and everyday groceries, food stations, cooking demos, and a terrace bar. The first level sells meat, fish, and produce while the second level offers take-away stalls with specialties from Spain and around the world. The top level houses an indoor-outdoor rooftop restaurant called 11 Nudos Terraza Nordes.
And old food market place converted into a gourmet food court. There is a good number of small shops serving their specialties, from traditional Spanish tapas and tortillas to Asian stuff and seafood. These little joints cohabitate with a few remaining shops like Octavio, one of the very best charcuteries in Madrid. I had the menu of the day "menu del dia" in the restaurant located in the upper floor. Food was good and the service too. There was ample space between tables which favored mi lively conversation with two old friends. I plan to visit them again in my next trip to Madrid.
Ricardo L — Google review
All of these types of markets are very appealing. Whether it's for grabbing a snack or just spending some time, they're really great places. This one was also very nice, but overall it felt a bit expensive to me. One tapa costs €2. Other than that, the atmosphere and shopping options are excellent.
Pınar 1 — Google review
LOVED IT!! Was in the neighborhood and decided to have lunch here. It was absolutely amazing! Much less crowded than San Miguel. Food stands were perfection! Had a great Lunch there.
Nanor M — Google review
I absolutely loved this place! There was something for everyone and many options to choose from. We sat on the 2nd floor which has a big seating area. And after food went upstairs to the terrace to a drink. Would definitely recommend! Most of our food was from stalls 18 and 19.
Alejandra H — Google review
Nice Mercado with good tapas options on the top floor. Plenty of table and counter seating. They have toilets but are accessed by a code printed out on the bottom of your bill from one of the tapas places (so don’t throw the bill out!).
Stewart W — Google review
Perhaps I came here at the wrong time of day, but it was virtually empty and the various stands all looked rather depressing, with the food on display old and tired. Also all stands were very similar, with the exception of a Vietnamese place. I walked both floors and left without sampling anything. The hours here are extensive, so I would not have thought at a time when other tapas bars and restaurants were filled that this market would be empty. But, empty it was. Based on my experience, I'll not be back.
Jaded G — Google review
I know it's after 9 pm and it's pretty quiet butbi was disappointed on the selection available. The bar on the second floor had good service and the beer was good. The fish stall was where we decided to grab a few tapas. I was pleasantly surprised. The fish wasn't fishy at all. Would I come back? Probably not.
Alanna A — Google review
I got a huuuge (the photo dont make it justice) sangria for only 7.5 euros. It was gigantic and supper delicious!! The tapas are okay. I mean dont get me wrong they are also delicious but a bit too oily and expensive. I would say it is worth it if it’s your first time in Madrid. It is a very large variety of tapas. But that sangria tho…

Bakery
El Riojano is a renowned 19th-century bakery and cafe located on Calle Mayor No. 10 in Madrid. Established in 1855 by pastry chef Damaso de la Maza, it has been a symbol of beauty, quality, and authenticity for seven generations. The shop has attracted notable figures such as Queen Maria Cristina and Jacinto Benavente and has received prestigious honors like the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts.
This place is dripping in royal vibes and antique mirrors and that makes sense. Once upon a time, the queen’s personal pastry chef wanted his own bakery. And the queen helped him make that dream come true. El Riojano is a fancy sugar and treat palace where your coffee comes with a side of powdered sugar and thick chocolate to dip. Reminder: if your employee is amazing, promote them or they’ll open a pastry empire and flex on you as they should.

A whole lot of goodies and treats to choose from, so delightful to see the wide array of baked goods. Walking into the store felt like walking into a time capsule bringing me back to great, great grandmother’s era. Fascinating place. The baked items I bought were good but not overwhelmingly so. I have tried better piñones in other stores but the treats here were still good. I would still return to try the rest!
Anna M — Google review
After walking around at the city center, we're having dessert and coffee at El Riojano. The selections of cake was mind blowing, and yet we ended up ordering tiramisu and simple pastry. They're nice. One visit was definitely not enough, next time we'll visit again when we're in Madrid.
Karina A — Google review
The place is very cute with old-fashioned luxury. The staff is friendly even though she doesn’t speak English, she tried to help. The chocolate is thick but not as rich as I had in other place. But comparing to other noisy crowded famous chocoteria, here isn’t a bad choose though

One of the oldest bakeries and tea rooms in Madrid, known for its rich history and delicious treats. The pastries are always fresh. If you visit during Easter, try the Torrija, it’s famous for a reason! My personal favourite is the palmera de chocolate.

Manolo Bakes is a popular pastry shop with multiple locations in Colmenar Viejo, Tres Cantos, and C/ Conde de Penalver. Their specialty is the manolitos, delicious mini croissants made with butter or dipped in chocolate. The cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot for remote work, offering comfortable seating and good lighting. Customers praise the quality breakfast options and variety of pastries and drinks available.
One of the best places for having fast breakfast. When getting a coffee Monolo provides two small croissants for free to choose from many. I would suggest to choose both of them with Jamon. Also Manolo is opened early in the morning and have tables outside ready for service while others not even opened yet.

Loved this place ! Very comfortable and neat place. Lots of different pastries and drinks they offer. Crowded in the morning but still able to find a table. We tried their mini filled croissants. Offering both sweet and salty fillings. Egg muffin was great too , crusty bread with egg and bacon.

It’s always a good sign when one great café recommends another, that’s how I found Manolo Café. Cozy vibe, tasty pastries, and good coffee. The staff are super friendly and speak great English. One small tip: the iced coffee would be even better with smaller ice cubes or pre-chilled coffee to keep the flavor strong. I’ve already told friends and will definitely be back. I highly recommend this spot do yourself a favor and make sure you go.

The best macarons and caneles I have tasted in Madrid are from here 😍and everything else is just delicious 🤤. It’s only take away and the personnel is very nice and service oriented.

Great macarons and cakes. The more popular flavors of macarons are sold out quite early, so you usually find a much smaller selection by the end of the day.

Found this place by accident after visit El Retiro Park. On the way to Retiro Metro. Two local are there to take away chocolate pastries. There isnt table or chair to sit, so you only can take away. The chocolate cake is the bomb and fresh strawberries in the centre of it. It is not milky or creamy or over sweet but it is perfecto on point chocolate mousse. Mille fuille are crispy. Highly recommended. Will visit again.

The pastries were so good that we had to take some back home. On the day of our flight, we walked in and bought three eclairs and I kept them on my lap for the entire flight. Was worth it

Cute, clean and calm 🍪 ✓ Pricey store but marvelous quality. It's worthwhile to save the money of 2-3 cheap sweets for this. ✓ Pleasant service and take-away was perfectly arranged. ✓ The location is outstanding too, just a bit far from Retiros entrance as you have to border the highway to pass.

Diurno Restaurante & Bar is a sophisticated establishment located in the Chueca neighborhood of Madrid. It's known for its minimalist white decor and a laid-back atmosphere with lounge music playing in the background. The restaurant offers an excellent selection of rental movies, including TV series, foreign films, and classic cinema. The menu features global dishes with a modern twist, including healthy sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, cakes, and pastries.
Before booking this restaurant, we checked out some reviews and read many positive stories. After dining here, I can confidently say the restaurant truly deserves all the praise. The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, and the restaurant itself has a beautiful ambiance. The food was enjoyable. Our favorites were the Angus grass-fed beef steak and the croquetas. Some of the other dishes were just okay, but nothing was disappointing. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would love to come back again.
Maria C — Google review
The food at this restaurant was delicious, and the atmosphere was great! The steak and cheesecake were especially amazing, but the spaghetti was a bit bland for my taste. While I was generally satisfied with the meal, I was disappointed with the service at the end. I think it was because I didn’t leave a separate tip when paying, which affected the final service experience Overall, though, I was satisfied with the visit!
Dorii — Google review
Diurno is located right in the heart of Chueca and has an impeccable atmosphere. Service was great, and the menu is broad and creative. We started with the confit leeks, which were fine but a bit underwhelming. For mains, we had the beef entrecote and the monkfish with prawns. The dishes took quite long to arrive, and while the food was good overall, I expected a bit more flavor. Portions were also on the small side compared to other plates we saw going by. We finished with a mille-feuille with Greek yogurt mousse and red berries, which was delicious. I’d come back to try other dishes, specially because of the atmosphere.

We were hunting for a breakfast place and came to this beautifully decorated restaurant. The design was sophisticated luxurious and exudes a welcoming warmth. We had the breakfast set at €24.95 each and the serving was very nice with a entre tower to start and a choice of drinks, mains and coffee or tea.

I seldomly write bad reviews. So this is going to be a decent one. The restaurant is decent, the food was just ok. The service was bad, no one understood us, or even tried to. The atmosphere in the restaurant could have been a 5/5 but it was hot as hell. We just wanted to pay the bill and get out to the street again. All in all, for its price, i wouldn’t recommend visiting this one.
Gil P — Google review
Our main motivation about picking this place was its ambiance. But additional to nice decoration, all the food was really good. The service was flawless. Prices are not above the level it should be. In conclusion it was a good experience. I have only one note: they are quite strict about 2 hour table reservation duration. I believe it would have been possible to give us a little bit more flexibility. There were quite enough vacant tables at 10:30 pm. We would have ordered some more food.
Doga O — Google review
Great location and ambience. Lovely modern interior design, but it doesn't feel too stuffy or formal. My partner and I tried the artichoke, steak and fries and squid. All great, even tho I personally prefer artichokes slightly crispier. Generous portions, reasonable prices with a wine menu ranging from affordable to low upper end prices ranges with a fairly good national selection. Would recommend for a casual date night or dinner with friends. Dinner for 2 with a bottle of affordable white wine, one entree and two main courses and a couple of bottles of water clocked in just under 100 euro. Would recommend to the restaurant to stock larger bottles of water too.

Fismuler Madrid is a hidden gem in an industrial space, owned by local celebrity chef Nino Redruello. The restaurant is known for its reliance on the best seasonal, local produce and its sumptuous butter that greets diners at their tables. Getting a reservation can be challenging due to its popularity among locals.
seems very busy night with all packed, but service was nice and we had a great sheet for enjoying live atmosphere. food was also very good. recommend mussels, artichoke, and cheese cake! I suggest order bottle wine if you are a big drinker. takes bit time for glass wine when it's busy. definitely I will go back when I visit madrid.
Waki — Google review
Had a great dinner night at Fismuler! Lovely ambience and good service. We loved the smoked artichoke with oyster leafs. It was the highlight of our dinner. We also had the duck, which was unfortunately a bit chewy and not as exciting as we expected. The cheesecake was very special, definitely the right choice for everyone who like a strong blue cheese flavor. Quite pricey but I would visit again.

We were visiting from NYC to see our daughter, who’s studying abroad in Madrid, and wanted to treat her and her friends to a nice dinner. Fismuler delivered! We were a group of ten and were seated at a lovely oval table that made conversation easy and enjoyable. We shared an array of dishes — many of them outstanding. The dorada, alcachofas, arroz rojo, and escalope are not to be missed. Fismuler was incredibly accommodating, and after almost four hours, nine bottles of wine, and lots of laughter, we all agreed: it was a perfect night of great food and great vibes. Would not hesitate to recommend.
Ricardo T — Google review
One of my most memorable dining experiences! From the first time we walked by and saw twinkling candlelight dancing on simple white tablecloths and reflecting off sparkling wine glasses, I was obsessed with eating there, ourselves. Sometimes an impression disappoints and sometimes it surpasses. The refined rustic setting, exceptional service, creative flavors, and live guitar music, indeed, surpassed my imaginings. The food offerings feature fresh ingredients and are punctuated with the food delivery at table - mixing, cutting, cheese grating - adding to the experience. The juxtapositions of flavors and textures delivered joy to the palate. Creamy cheese with salted ham and sweet peaches touched by a hint of green. Tender sea bass belly with citrusy curly endive. Tender meat perfectly seasoned and breaded. Smooth smoked flan with mango chutney that may have been the best dish I’ve ever tasted. The experience at Fismuler gave us a perfectly paced and delicious romantic evening in Madrid. Gracias!

Great vibe at Fismuler! The schnitzel is amazing – definitely enough for two (or even three). I’d also recommend the artichokes. And don’t miss the cheesecake – very special and a must-try!
Natalia A — Google review
It was our first night in Madrid, and we were very excited to dine at Fismuler. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting. From the start, we were treated with nothing but disrespect. I don’t know if it was racism, but we were the only guests who were consistently dismissed by the staff, particularly by the person who appeared to be their supervisor. He was wearing a dark blue polo when we were there (Oct 1, 2025) We travel often and dine in many restaurants around the world, and we have never experienced this level of disregard. When I tried to ask about the menu to clarify some dishes, he didn’t even bother to stay for a minute to answer my questions. The final straw came with dessert. I was really looking forward to their cheesecake, but what they served looked very different from the photos and descriptions online. I politely tried to ask about it, but before I could even finish my question, the supervisor cut me off with a curt “yeah, same” and walked away. No explanation, no effort to engage. His manner made us feel like we were a burden to him, almost as if he was disgusted to even be around us. A good front-of-house should show care and respect, especially when guests are trying to understand the menu and enjoy the experience. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Here’s a photo of the cheesecake we were served:

I made a reservation a month in advance because the restaurant is usually quite busy. I highly recommend making a reservation. For food, I recommend the dorada semicurada and solomillo de vaca nacional, not the duck. The duck was hard to chew. We ordered four dishes, but it was too much for two people. Three dishes would have been enough.

Restaurant
Nestled within a vibrant area near Sol Station, La Casa de las Torrijas is a charming traditional Spanish restaurant that beckons food lovers with its delightful offerings. The colorful tiled decor sets the stage for an authentic dining experience where you can savor classic dishes like oxtail stew and huevos rotos, featuring broken eggs paired with crispy potatoes and savory jamón. However, the true star of the show is undoubtedly their torrijas—an exquisite Iberian twist on French toast.
Tried to go here around lunch time and it was extremely busy so we came back at an off time around 4 pm. At this time there were quite a bit of tables open so we were able to sit quickly. After we ordered 2 Torrijas with milk and my god these were one of the best desserts we've eaten in our lives. It had a nice sugary crunch but on the inside it was nice and gooey. The taste was super flavorful and I could definitely eat a ton of these. Crazy they don't have a lot of well know Torrija places.
Josh B — Google review
Few minutes away from the extremely busy and touristic Puerta del Sol, you step into some more Spanish authenticity as soon as you enter this establishment. Still a bit touristic, but you can get a great vermouth with anchovies and olives. Service is fast and friendly, tapas arrived hot. The croquetas are better than the average, the chicken wings are nice but the tortilla is average.
Michael C — Google review
Attractive traditional restaurant with a good value weekday lunch menu at 13.90€ with a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains, dessert and a drink. We enjoyed our salad with peppers and tuna followed by fried eggs with 'morcilla' (Spanish black pudding). Sadly the menu did not include a 'torrija' (Spanish-style French toast) for dessert, so we´ll have to go back!
Bruce T — Google review
Busy place, but very fast service. We went on a public holiday so the place was packed. Two of us ordered a regular torrija and a torrija with wine, both were very good. Would recommend, especially if you have a sweet tooth.

To start the review, for the Mexican community, Los callos a la madrileña are very similar to our Menudo. The true local spot that speaks Madrid with their delicious food. The place was funded in 1907, it is the spot for local food. We ordered Callos a la madrileña the dish was amazing, Torrezinos with a potato base that were fantastic and for dessert Tortola de leche, different but delicious. This place deserves to be visited and a higher google ratings.

Just ok, nothing worthy of repeating. Not bad neither, just ok. They warmed up the torrija in the microwave, it was soggy and a bit bland 😮‍💨. I've eaten torrijas in the past in different places and they're crunchy in the outside, creamy in the inside... here nope. Non of that. 😞

Chocolatería Puerta Del Sol is a must-visit spot in Madrid, offering the city's famous churros con chocolate. This delightful treat consists of fried dough sticks dipped in rich, steaming hot chocolate and is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike for breakfast or as a snack. The establishment is known for its fast service, cleanliness, and welcoming staff, making it the perfect place to start your day with a relaxing meal.
Great location that's quiet and convenient next to Puerta del Sol. The wait staff is friendly and attentive and the churros, chocolate and coffee are all outstanding. We spent several days in Madrid recently and went to many cafe's, but this one was the best. - in addition to the great service, I had left my kindle there early in the trip and didn't notice until many days later. I guessed that I might have left it there. The cashier checked with the manager who pulled it out from under the desk and handed it to me. This placed put a cherry on top of a great trip.

The place is cool, off the main strip, so it's much quieter for people watching. The food was ok, I guess I should have googled what Tempura in Spain meant. I was expecting vegetables in a batter verses the mush of veggies. The Churros and chocolate was nice.

DIVINE, freshly fried churros with chocolate!! We had them for breakfast and they really hit the spot. $4.50 for 4 churros and the deliciously dense chocolate for dipping. The chocolate is plenty for another order of 4 churros. Will definitely return before departing! Pictured below is 3 orders of churros. 🤓

The churros where good and light, not greasy at all. The chocolate is a bit dark, which gives it a more mild flavor, not as sweet as you might expect. Very good overall.

La Dulcería Café is a charming dessert shop that offers a delightful selection of specialty cheesecakes. The owner, a kind and knowledgeable gentleman, takes the time to explain the various flavors available. The shop is relatively new and also provides takeout options. Customers rave about the creamy texture of the cheesecakes and appreciate the generous portion sizes.
Amazing cheesecakes! Gustavo (owner and cheesecake chef) was super friendly and introduced some of the favorites. Had Guava and pistachio cheesecakes… both were outstanding in flavors and textures. Must try! Just know that there’s no seating aside from a small stool outside, but that didn’t matter for the outstanding taste of the cheesecakes.
Charles C — Google review
I don't normally love cheesecake, but my companion insisted we try this place. She got the tiramisu, and I got the apple crumble and the dulce de Argentina. Both of mine were outstanding, with the distinctive apple cinnamon and caramel flavors respectively serving as complements to the cheesecake without overshadowing the distinctive creaminess that makes cheesecake what it is. The Venezuelan owner uses a combination of traditional Venezuelan technique with import ideas from American cheesecake, and the result is something that hits the spot precisely when you're looking for cheesecake yet is still sui generis. I had no plans to get cheesecake today, yet I think this may end up being my favorite dessert in Madrid.

Best cheesecake in Madrid!!! Absolutely delicious cheesecake & very friendly owner. You can taste the love and high quality ingredients he makes it with in every slice. We had the traditional basque cheesecake & tiramisu flavours. They beat the competition hands down! (And we’ve tried several cheesecake shops in Madrid). Highly recommended & worth every cent!
J B — Google review
I needed to write a review for this place. I wish I could give it 10 stars, because it was the best thing I've ever ingested, and I think about this cheesecake often. It was worth the trip to Spain, and I am quite devastated I don't have access to this cheesecake here in Canada. Me and my friend were travelling around Spain from Canada. We are both really big into food, and desserts, to the point of having a food itinerary. This place was not on our list but we somehow decided to check it out since it was close by and we both love cheesecake. We shared the tiramisu cheesecake. And it was really good. But since I'm not a fan of tiramisu, I suggested we get the original cheesecake to-go to eat later on. We both had a small bite first to try, and soon we had to just finish it on the spot. It was incredible. Both of us were blown away by the experience of eating this leaky, gooey, overflowing cheesecake. She also agreed it was better than the tiramisu since the tiramisu took away from the cheesecake flavour. I wish I could go back again and again. When friends asked us about our highlight of Spain, we answer, this cheesecake at La Dulceria in Madrid!

Mercado de San Miguel, one of the oldest covered markets in Madrid, is a historic gourmet venue that offers a rich culinary experience. Originally built in 1916 and recently refurbished, this market features an array of food stalls offering premium Spanish produce such as fresh fruits, cured meats, fine wines, seafood, cheeses, and pastries. Visitors can indulge in local specialties like olive and anchovy pinchos or fresh seafood while sipping on masterfully made sangria.
What an experience. We almost didn’t go because there were so many negative reviews for gluten free. I have celiac and almost changed plans, but decided to see the experience and if I had to, I’d eat somewhere else after. Every booth was very helpful with knowledge of if they had anything gluten free. I found many options, from lobster taco to the olives with various meats and cheeses, shrimp, grilled veggies, etc. This is our favorite part of our visit to Madrid and I’m so glad we decided to go. Also, just a couple blocks away is a churros 1902 spot that has amazing gluten free churros. Don’t miss that.

I LOVE this market! It’s a bit touristy, but I love that you can find everything here. The seafood spot and the tapas place are definitely the most popular in my opinion. There’s so much to see and eat, I even got percebes here! Definitely a place worth coming back to.

What's the point t of all that lovely fresh food if you can barely squeeze through anywhere let alone eat your food comfortably? I tried twice in two days. Finally on day 2 I grabbed a fresh kiwi drink and got the hell out of there. Visited these places in other cities, great, here, ridiculously too small.

Mercado de San Miguel is an absolute food lover’s paradise and one of Madrid’s most vibrant culinary landmarks. Housed in a beautifully restored iron structure, the market combines traditional Spanish charm with a modern, bustling atmosphere. Every stall offers something tempting — from fresh oysters and Iberian ham to gourmet tapas, cheeses, pastries, and wines. It’s the perfect place to wander, taste, and share small bites while soaking in the energy of the crowd. The quality of the food is consistently excellent, and the variety makes it easy to build your own tapas adventure. Whether you’re stopping for a quick snack or spending a leisurely afternoon trying everything, Mercado de San Miguel delivers a full sensory experience — delicious flavors, lively ambiance, and a touch of history. A must-visit in Madrid for anyone who loves authentic, elevated Spanish cuisine.
Hugo L — Google review
Nice modern high end Mercado to get tapas. You can find things in here that are non-traditional. Lots of fresh flavours but there are also some places where the food looks a bit tired. It’s not a large Mercado so counter space is at a premium. The counters on the inside are packed and you will get jostled. It may be better to get some of the space on the outer window area. One other downside is the prices are more expensive than other mercados or tapas bars. But you are paying for the all in one convenience.
Stewart W — Google review
Tons of food options, impossible to find a seat. Was cool to try some Spanish crackers with random fish things on them. They were good…. The crackers were whatever but I guess that’s not the point. I sat outside on the ground. Don’t get why this place is on everyone’s rec list, go to a less known mercado!

They say this is a tourist trap but honestly, I don’t care. It’s a great market with everything. The food is beautifully laid out and they taste good. My favorites are definitely rhe anchovy and sardine tapas from the same shop. 2.50 EUR for each, cheapest in the market AND most delicious!

Good location and easy to get to. Great atmosphere and vibe with a live band. Good food but not ideal for vegans. You do, however, have the option to have something made for you off-menu.
Leo H — Google review
The vibe at Tatel is right on. From the moment you walk in, the decor stands out — sleek, contemporary, and incredibly inviting, definitely a fresh take compared to the more traditional Madrid spots. Service? Beyond excellent. There’s a whole team of attentive, knowledgeable waiters ready to help and explain every dish, which was such a plus for someone like me who’s not super familiar with all Spanish food. Their attention made the experience feel extra special. Now, the food — a bit of a mixed bag for me. The eggplant wasn’t my favorite (first time it came out way too salty, but they kindly replaced it). The arugula salad was a total hit though — fresh, flavorful, and big enough to share. The Wellington was also on the salty side, but the solomillo? Absolutely phenomenal. Dessert deserves its own spotlight. Everyone raves about their cheesecake, and yes, it was good… but the apple pie completely stole my heart — warm, rich, and truly unforgettable. As for ambiance, both times I’ve been have felt like a celebration. The first time they had a flamenco performance that elevated the energy, and the second time a woman was singing love songs from the 80s and 90s — perfectly enjoyable and not too loud, so we could still have conversations without shouting. It is definitely on the pricier side for Madrid, but if you’re celebrating something special, I’d say it’s worth the splurge.

atmosphere rather than the food — but the atmosphere is absolutely worth it. Make sure to reserve ahead of time on weekends and ask for a table inside with a view of the stage. Don’t go if you’re not into loud music. I loved the whole concept; while the food isn’t extraordinary, it’s definitely decent. Still, I can imagine some people might feel disappointed if this type of experience isn’t their thing.

This is a lovely fine dining experience. It’s definitely on the pricier side but the food didn’t disappoint and the atmosphere was great. The singer on the night we were there was fantastic. The service was great, it probably took a bit longer to get the bill than we would’ve liked but everyone was very friendly. The cheesecake was delicious, a big serving for one person, great for sharing! The beef risotto type dish we ordered was fantastic. The omelette type dish, croquettes and chips we had to start were also fantastic. I’d recommend eating here if you’re looking for a fancy night out where you can dress up. The cocktails I had were also great!

Love the mercado! Amazing vibe! A variety of choices. The wait can be long, as it’s usually crowded from dinner time onwards. A great place to chill and hangout with friends. Drinks and food at reasonable prices. Highly recommended, a local food court as compared to touristy trap. 🫶🏻

An exceptional multi-floor food court, situated in the heart of Madrid and less than five minutes from my hotel. I visited this establishment for lunch with a colleague. We sampled a variety of dishes, particularly enjoying the Venezuelan and Peruvian options. The pricing is reasonable, and the portion sizes are substantial, making them suitable for sharing. I highly recommend this venue.

Decent Bulgogi and a Paulaner we Weissbier. Tables are too close to walk easily. No space to walk around looking at each stalls offerings without bumping into people. Fun and good variety, though.

*not able to singularly locate this particular stall within the mercado, so leaving it here on the general mercado site* If you are looking for Asian food. Just be extra careful ordering from the first 2 stalls upon entering the mercado. The stall’s name is “Asiatico” It sells sushi and “asian food” Ordered chicken fried rice. Costed 12.5€ Verdict : 1/10 The worst food i have had in Spain. The worst fried rice i have ever had in my entire life. Rice was under/uncooked. The texture was hard. Onion was raw. Definitely not sautéed long enough. I will let the picture do the talking. This mercado in my humble opinion is a tourist trap. But in terms of environment - id give it a 4 stars amid the sweltering hot weather outside. It is fully air conditioned. Has outdoor area too. The mercado itself has amazing vibes. Especially on the 2nd floor.

Great place! We went there on two night. A lot of options, and solid servers! Good drinks and food, takes a long time to get it though.

An oasis in a crowded area with a wonderful open food court concept. Don’t stay at the ground floor and go upstairs as there is more wonderful choices. Good is yummy

I’m an old nan, a tourist just learning my way around the city. Been to several Mercados and there are similarities and differences among them all. Mercado de Ildefonso has mo commercial spaces; even the uber touristy San Miguel has a couple of butchers, cheese mongers, and pescatarias. Ildefonso is ONLY eating stalls, but they…and the “market” are superb. Over a dozen “international “ booths with something for everyone. A huge bar (and a second one up on the roof)…Really a lot of fun and great food and drink.

A great place to have something to eat and drink ! In the heart of Chueca, on the grounds floor you can order Japanese or Korean food and upstairs more Spanish staff like croquettes e pinchos y tortillas.

Ok so this review is very interesting. I had the triple chocolate cake (vegan) and it was very good. My husband had the avocado toast which was a HUGE deception given the price: it’s basically toasted bread with avocado on top. No tomato no extra taste no nothing.

The idea of a cozy place with guilt-free treats was very appealing. The place is cute, the service was not good, and when we went at 11, they were out of 80% of the menu. We were left wanting a cheese and ham sandwich and a croissant. The banana smoothie was delicious, and the toast was good.

Do not eat at this place. The one star reviews slow were not lying.I thought the previous reviews were lying so I decided to try it for myself. I am gluten sensitive and so is my daughter, so we decided to have a breakfast pastry and a small coffee on one of our days here in Madrid. The girl behind the counter spoke to us over her shoulder to tell us to wait. No welcome or question about what we would like- to eat in or take away. She ignored our presence for 15 minutes and then told us to take a table. We sat down for 20 minutes being ignored but patient and watched as she preceded to sit and take the order of customer who came after we did. One lady behind us send back her food for being cold and said they had to re do it. I took that as my sign to leave. I can feel and see the disrespect but I did not want to put with bad food on top of everything else. It was clear that the management of this place does not have a good grasp of customer service or the restaurant business. So we took our business elsewhere. Be Warned.

Vegan chocolate cake was heavenly! Went back our last day in town since we were so impressed, the vegan chocolate cake was sold out so we ordered the carrot cake and a chocolate cupcake. Both were dry and not that great. Didn’t seem worth the calories to eat. Disappointed that it was so drastically different. If you go, highly recommended the vegan chocolate cake, but be wary of other options.

We had the celicioso eggs and the pastrami sandwich. The poached eggs were overcooked and the taste was plain. We also tried two cupcakes which were extremely sweet. They did not have any of the juices on the menu (except for orange juice)

Walking past on the way to a nearby shop, the tasty cakes in the window caught my eye. Wish I had kept walking - never going to stop here again. Painfully slow service despite three girls working at the time of my visit. Pity, because the cheesecake tasted great (however, it was served on a warm plate, no attention to basics). Was told to sit and my order would be taken, but it was clear that they prioritised customers who were ordering take out. I was forced to wait too long. After looking into space, patiently waiting, numerous staff went past my table all the while they were “looking busy”. Coffee tasted good even though I had to ask for the milk. I asked at time of ordering for milk in my coffee but they missed it - again no attention to basics. Price of coffee was reasonable, price of cake was not. I adore drinking coffee, I adore visiting coffee shops……but not this one

One day apart, two completely different experiences. We found this restaurant during our research for great gluten free breakfast and rode 50minutes just to eat there. We went on a Friday morning and the food was AMAZING! We both ordered the pastrami on the gluten free bread and ordered an omelet as well- it came with a basket of fries and it was crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside… the fries were perfectly cooked. In addition, the service was great! I think our server was Alberto (sorry if I got it wrong) and he was so professional and made our breakfast a great experience. In addition we ordered two cakes, also excellent! Well, we loved it so much that we decided to go back the next morning (Saturday morning)- we ordered the exact same thing, which was the vegan pastrami and, as you can see on the picture, there is a distinct difference between the two orders. The pastrami bread was not toasted or pressed, did not come with arugula (as described on the menu and accompanied in the sandwich the previous day) and no fries (again, as written on the menu). I took a bite anyways and it was COLD! The items on the inside were literally COLD! Cheese? Cold and not melted. Not room temperature either… it was from the refrigerator to the sandwich cold! I honestly could not believe the difference and as much as I hate complaining, I had to say something to the server (there were two female servers working this day). Upon talking to the server, I explained that it was cold on the inside, it’s missing ingredients clearly stated on the menu and it was missing fries- she just explained there is a “new cook” and they cook the meals differently. Nonetheless she offered to take the sandwich back to remake it. While waiting we ate the omelette, which tasted as BAD as it looks… runny, undercooked. The sandwich comes back, this time with fries but I was surprised to see it was the same sandwich, lol, with my one bite that I took missing from it- I ate it, I paid for it and tipped the waiter but I honestly felt so disappointed and confused. How did it get so bad overnight? How can a restaurant possibly allow two completely separate plates to leave the kitchen? COLD? I wish I never went back the next day and preserved the wonderful memories from the previous day. Lastly, I have 150+ reviews and it’s rare that I write a negative one. I recommend this place based on my experience on Friday morning but really hope that this restaurant trains their new cooks better to set them up for success. Pictures attached: Pastrami with fries from day 1 and omelette. Last two pictures are from the second day :(

Nestled in the elegant Chamartin district of Madrid, Lua is a culinary gem that brings the rich flavors of Galicia to life. This charming restaurant, just a short stroll from the Sorolla Museum, showcases traditional Galician cuisine with a modern twist under the expert guidance of Michelin-starred chef Manuel Dominguez. Lua's menu is a delightful journey through homey tastes and innovative presentations, featuring seasonal ingredients sourced from local markets.
Although it lost its Michelin star in 2023, Lúa is still a fantastic restaurant. The chef, Manuel Domínguez, enhances traditional Galician dishes with unique creative elements. It's an excellent stepping stone into haute cuisine, without the sometimes exuberant mannerism of more distinguished places. While you can order individual dishes, we opted for the tasting menu. Consisting of 2 appetizers, 3 starters, 2 main dishes and 2 desserts, it is adequately priced at €92 per person. The quality is on par with what you would typically get in a traditional-leaning 1-Michelin-star restaurant. Our highlights were the peach gazpacho and the foie micuit with pear and caramelized cheese. While I'm not a fan of the traditional Santiago cake for dessert, the coulant version they make at Lúa is amazing. The only thing that could be improved are the meat dishes: you can choose between suckling pig and squab, but both rely a bit too much on the sauce they are served with. Other than that, we had a great dinner in a relatively casual atmosphere.

Amazing restaurant, super friendly staff, amazing tasting menu. It was an amazing experience. I highly recommend it. They also made my 6 year old son feel welcome! Definitely coming back

Dining at Lua was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The quality of the food, the attention to detail, and the overall ambiance make it a standout in Madrid’s culinary scene. We started with the octopus, which was beautifully prepared—tender, flavorful, and a perfect way to begin the meal. The freshly baked bread they offer is also worth mentioning—warm, soft, and truly delicious. For the main course, I had the steak with fries. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection, bursting with flavor and expertly seasoned. It was accompanied by crisp, golden fries that balanced the dish nicely. Additionally, Lua’s wine selection is outstanding. The variety and quality available are impressive, with options that perfectly complement the menu. Without a doubt, I’ll be returning next time I’m in town. Highly recommend for anyone seeking refined cuisine and top-tier service in Madrid.

What a surprising and great dinner! We had a fantastic meal where we tried incredible and interesting dishes. The pigeon was the star of the show! It would’ve been perfect if the wine pairing could’ve been explained a bit better or in general a bit more time for service and enjoyment of the atmosphere was possible.

I had the worst Michelin star experience ever. I ordered their 9 course tasting menu and none of the dishes really appealed to my taste. The food quality and cooking skills fell short of what I expected from a Michelin-starred establishment, and the lack of creativity was especially disappointing. The second appetizer tasted extremely fishy and sour, so my friend and I couldn't finish it. The starter course with salmon, mayo, and lime zest was just okay. The mayo tasted like the kind you buy at a regular supermarket. Among the nine dishes, the foie gras with puff pastry and candied pistachios stood out as the best, but even that had its flaws. It turned out to be too sweet for a savory dish, and the pastry itself was oily and lacked the desired crunch, resulting in an uncomfortable mouthfeel. The remaining courses were equally disappointing, leaving such a lackluster impression that I can hardly recall what I actually ate. The service and atmosphere were fine. The staff were professional and polite, but I was "spoiled" with the warming, friendly and attentive manners of other non-starred and Michellin-starred restaurants I have dined in before.

We went there upon recommendations from friends. The place is nicely decorated and wait staff were friendly and spoke English well. We had the degustation menu. The menu was definitely interesting and the kitchen definitely tries to experiment with flavours. I think the highlight is definitely the cappuccino dish. Visually interesting and flavours were good. A couple of dishes like the fish and roast pork could be better balanced with flavours. For example, the hoi sin sauce on the roast pork could be much stronger. Overall, it was a nice experience and with a few minor tweaks in the flavours I think this restaurant is amazing.

Our visit to Lua was one of those cozy, warm experiences that you treasure forever. We had wonderful food and wine in the company of good friends. The service we received was incredibly friendly and informative, both elegant but approachable, intuitive to our needs. We chose to start with an order of Foie Midcuit Sobre Empanada De Pera Y Queso San Simón Caramelizado, and a half order of impeccably soft and supple Pulpo a Feira. My companion ordered their Lubina con Verduritas, and I had the Verdinas con Carabineros, and the Raya En Caldeirada Sobre Sopa De Ibéricos. For dessert, I had the Brownie con Helado de Turron y Trufa (yes, it had authentic black truffles shaved on top) and my friend a "deconstructed" Tarta de Santiago. The whole meal was amazing; some of the dishes were elevated versions of traditional Galician dishes (the Verdinas or the Tarta de Santiago) while others were successful experiments (like the Fois Midcuit or the crazy-delicious Brownie with Turron Ice Cream and shaved Trufa). Lua deserves their 2023 Michelin star!
M. N — Google review
Great tasting menu, I loved the appetizers, and as a favorite dish I would choose Corvinya fish. The chef makes a good work with the sauces. I missed not getting a second dessert. The service was excellent, they had good pace for all dishes with minimal wait time. Large wine menu. For 1 star Michelin I missed the Chef at the table asking customers about the experience, I find that to give a super value to this adventure as at least you learn how some flavors are achieved. Ginger on carpaccio was magic. Many dishes with flowers, and very colorful. Will definitely come back when they change menu. They only had one tasting menu which helped to everyone at the table eating together. Good price for a 1 star. My only missing thing is a menu in paper to follow what you ate, what you re eating and what's remaining.

Maestro Churrero is a renowned churreria in Madrid, offering a delightful selection of churros and hot chocolate. Customers can enjoy their treats at outdoor seating or opt for takeout. The cozy atmosphere adds to the experience, making visitors feel right at home.
My friends and I got churros, porras and coffee and we absolutely enjoyed and loved everything! The staff were just as wonderful, especially #Daren who cheerfully served us at the counter. Even the kitchen staff seemed very happy and the positive feeling was infectious. The place itself is immaculate and cozy. Truly an oasis amid the hustle and bustle of the area. We especially enjoyed the seats facing the busy street and the theater. Come to this place, you'll certainly love the experience like wed did!

I stopped by Maestro Churrero this morning and it turned into one of my favorite café experiences in Madrid. The place feels warm and welcoming and the service is honestly what makes it special. Our server Clarisa Estrelloso was truly amazing. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable from the moment we sat down. You can tell she takes pride in her work because she treats every customer with real kindness. The rest of the staff also seemed very professional and pleasant. We ordered a café macchiato dulce, a café con leche, empanadas, and a crepe with Nutella. Everything came out fresh and delicious. The empanadas were warm and flavorful and the coffees were smooth with perfect foam. It was the kind of simple breakfast that just feels right. If you are in the area I definitely recommend stopping here. The food is great and the servers are excellent. I would happily come back anytime.

(Translated by Google) It's not bad, the prices are pretty good, and the ice creams have some variety, and are delicious. The service is fast and the place is nice, clean and not overcrowded. Although the truth is that it looks better from the outside than it really is. It's an ice cream parlor with a little more twist (the shakes, the toppings, the popsicles, the donuts...) but it's not wonderful. I add that the smoothies are delicious, but some toppings are the perfect size to clog the straw, which is a little annoying, although it is an easy solution 👌. I recommend it if you want something simple but with a special touch, but if you are looking for something amazing, surprising or innovative, this is not the place, even if it claims to be.

One of my favorite brunch places in Madrid!! We were super lucky because we arrived early and had to wait only 5 minutes to get a table. The tables are very small and it’s a little bit uncomfortable. A cozy and stylish spot with a great atmosphere! The coffee here is perfectly balanced — smooth, rich, and beautifully presented with latte art that shows real attention to detail. The waffle with fresh fruits was absolutely delicious — soft on the inside, slightly crispy on the outside, and topped with a generous variety of fresh fruits and maple syrup. I also tried their shakshuka, which was full of flavor and came with freshly toasted bread — a great choice for breakfast or brunch. The service was friendly and quick, and the overall vibe was calm and modern, making it an ideal place to relax or catch up with friends. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality coffee and a good breakfast in Madrid ☕🍓🥞

Servers were not paying attention to the clients, keeping talking amongst themselves, even after we started ordering. Asked for a cone, got a cup (not a big deal in itself but they did not want to hear what the clients wanted). Ice cream melted quickly as well, but the real problem was definitely the big chuck of plastic that I found in the straciatella that almost broke my tooth.

Went to the Mistura outlet at Augusto Figueroa. Fell in love with the place, even more so with the food. The waitress was really friendly and helpful and gave us good recommendations for the best ice cream / sorbet that pairs best with the waffle we have chosen. We especially love the dark chocolate sorbet. Thick, refreshing and every mouthful is a joy. You’ll not get sick of it at all. We also had the pistachio ice cream with the dulce de leche sauce. The pistachio ice cream was nutty and added a very earthly taste to the sweet sauce. Those topped onto the crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside waffles brought me and my partner to food heaven. Also, we would like to give a special shoutout to the lady serving us for our great taste in music! Dean Lewis ❤️ Made our eating experience even better!

The market maintains its traditional charm with meat, fish, fruit, and vegetable stalls alongside tapas bars and pop-ups that continue after the regular stalls close. This bustling market is known for its mouth-watering jamon (cured ham), Japanese cuisine, and vegetarian options.
I really like this market as it has a nice breakfast joint. It had most of the meat and produce stalls opens so it was nice to eat breakfast and be able to watch the locals buy meat. I enjoyed watching the butcher's knife work. It was quiet in the morning and a great little place to get away from crowds.

Probably the best and lesser known mercado in Madrid. More suited for the locals and a variety of places to eat. Check out Asian Army if you're into Asian food and try the Laksa!

If you're ever near Mercado Anton Martin, you have to go find Consentida Dore, it's an authentic pinchos and vermouth stand , perfect for a quick bite and break from the heat, delicious food and very budget friendly, 10/10

This is definitely not a tourist destination, it's a local market with a Hugh selection of meats, fresh vegetables and fruit. If you want what the locals eat, where the locals shop, this is your place. Absolutely loved it. We went early so some stands weren't open but it was still very worth going.
Paul S — Google review
I was brought here on a local food tour and it's world's away from the super-touristy alternative. Food is great, reasonably priced and you can actually sit down. Plus it's a real working market where locals buy groceries. Most stalls close for parts of the day so time your visit carefully.

What a place! A living market, not just a tourist attraction where you could do your daily shopping as well as savouring an amazing selection of foods from almost all over the world in very convivial surroundings. It gets very busy and it is fairly small too on two levels so pick the time of your visit well and avoid the height of rush hour.

This is not too touristic place. Worth visiting to have a drink and a snack

So much better than the busy food markets in town. Worth the 15min walk away from the middle of the city. More authentic, cheaper, friendlier, Can actually get a table and eat. Love it

La Duquesita is a renowned artisan bakery in Madrid, known for its ornate vintage decor and delectable pastries, cakes, and desserts available for both dine-in and take away. Established in 1914, the bakery has undergone a modern transformation with a contemporary tea room added to its premises. Oriol Balaguer, an acclaimed pastry chef, now leads the creation of their artisanal sweets.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an amazing experience at La Duquesita in Madrid! I ordered a latte and a gianduja croissant, and both were absolutely delicious. The croissant was rich, flaky, and perfectly balanced, while the latte was smooth and comforting. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making the visit even more enjoyable. The ambiance of the place is stunning—classic and elegant, with so much charm. It’s the perfect spot for a treat and a bit of relaxation. I can’t wait to return and try more of their offerings. Highly recommended!

Best palmera (elephant ear) I've had. Buttery, flakey, delicious. They have an assortment of pastries and chocolates. Very chic seating area to have coffee or tea. I come here every time I'm in Madrid and the quality is consistent.

Beautiful place with a sophisticated atmosphere and pleasant vibe. Service was quick and kind, although not as refined as the setting suggests. We ordered two café solo, one bottle of Agua Cristal, one Cuatro Texturas dessert, and one Pistachio dessert. Everything was excellent — both desserts and the coffee were outstanding. The total was €24.60, which I found fair considering the quality and sophistication of the place. Overall, a great experience with nothing to complain about.

I don’t speak English so after I ordered and wanted to sit at the back in the nicer part of the cafe, she seem to be indicating that the area is for some special order and I can only sit in the front. I was also made to bring the cake to the table myself while I see everyone else being served to the table. Not sure what’s with the special treatment. Nonetheless, cake is nice but rather one dimensional aside from the outer shell which adds to the crunchy texture.

Had a few fancy sweet snacks for a late breakfast, our favorite being the lime tart that was complex yet light. Cafe con leche was excellent as well and very friendly service in the table section of the store.

One of madrid’s best bakeries. They have a selection of their signature pastries in a miniature version so you can enjoy multiple treats in one sitting.

I have been coming here to buy their desserts many times in the past, now they have this new salon to let you enjoy some coffee or champagne. Also the most important for me to enjoy desserts here. The new salon is really comfortable and well decorated with good design. We will definitely come back for more times in the future.

Santa Eulalia is a stylish and contemporary cafe-bakery that features exposed-brick walls. It offers a variety of artisan coffee, chocolates, and brunch options. Located in a peaceful street close to the Royal Palace, this cozy establishment serves high-quality desserts alongside freshly baked pastries, sandwiches, yogurt, eggs, and more. If you find yourself exploring the trendy Chueca neighborhood, Santa Eulalia is an excellent spot to satisfy your cravings with delectable French treats.
There are great bakeries and pastry shops, there are superb ones, and there’s Santa Eulalia, one of the few pastry shop/bakeries we have been to that can truly be called the very best. The Croissants, breads and pastries are baked on site, behind a glass wall. The breakfasts and lunch meals are made and presented with equal care and dedication, the coffee is among the best I have had in Madrid. We come to Madrid for 10 days to 2 weeks every winter, every single day our breakfasts are at Santa Eulalia, if we need to meet someone, we meet them there. The owners are always on site, always welcoming, thankful to their clients, and always willing to recommend new eating experiences in Madrid. We feel like family when we visit and miss them as family when we depart. It’s a joyous place to sit and eat, to drink an espresso looking through a glass floor at some of the Roman ruins that live below this great city. If you are lucky and can snag the small table for two by the far window… your day will be made! It’s one of a kind, if you are in Madrid and love pastries, a good breakfast, and a welcoming atmosphere, you must visit Santa Eulalia! You will regret it if you don’t…

Currently eating here. Ambience is lovely and the pastries look great. I had the eggs with bacon — they were good. But the bread was literally rock-hard and completely inedible (see photo). Service was disappointing: the café was nearly empty, but the waitress seemed rushed the entire time. She practically threw the plate at me and dashed off before I could even ask for water. For the prices they charge, this place is not worth it. Wouldn’t recommend.

It’s fantastic, delicious, professional, and clean, with a beautiful atmosphere. The staff are attentive, friendly, and quick. There’s a wide variety of snacks, and although the prices are slightly above average, it’s definitely worth it. I also really enjoyed the music. It’s centrally located, close to Sol Square.

The best patisserie in Madrid! Ana, the owner is there every day making sure the place runs smoothly with her very kind and warm personality. Her husband was trained at Le Cordon Bleu and they have a great selection of breads, pastries, desserts, cookies, eggs, and sandwiches and everything tastes amazing! Their hojaldre de pistacho (puff pastry with pistachio) stole my heart!!! One of the places I miss the most from my trip is this one. If I ever live in Madrid, I'll work from this place!

We decided to go to Santa Eulalia for morning coffee and a pastry and I'm so glad we did. The staff were so kind and helpful. The setting is so beautiful, the pastry was delicious. I had the pastry filled with hazelnut cream. It was fresh and just the perfect amount of hazelnut cream filling. The coffee was absolutely delicious too. We highly recommend Santa Eulalia!

I wouldn’t call this geloto, but overpriced ice cream. I understand that it’s located in tourist area, but I dis expect something better. The staff, in my opinion, look not friendly and not even a little smiling.

La Pecera has taken the vibrant Malasaña neighborhood by storm, introducing locals and visitors alike to the delightful world of taiyaki. Over five years, La Pecera has become an Instagram sensation, captivating food lovers with its unique offerings.
The best sangria n Madrid. During our stay in Madrid we tried different sangrias. Some were very alcholic, others were with a predominant taste such as vermouth or rum. The sangria we drank nere was perfect, a good red wine and the fruits were the protagonists, but you could feel the right amount of rum and some other things that I don't want to reveal to you. Go and try it, maybe the barman, Ale, will tell you the secret ingredient too😜 the service was fast and attentive, the interiors were really beautiful, including comfortable armchairs that gave us relief after an afternoon walking around

Really wanted to come here to try while visiting Madrid for the unique ice cream experience. It’s definitely a bit different, more froyo than gelato type ice cream. You can add whatever toppings are available. The fish was softer than we were expecting, but still really good. Overall delicious and glad we tried, but not what we were expecting at all.
Courtney S — Google review
The Taiyaki was very very dry and tasteless! And the ice cream is not good anymore here! With less option to choose from in the middle of summer and ice cream season! And it tasted very industrial Go buy your ice cream in a supermarket! I assure you it will be better than here!
Imane B — Google review
Super friendly staff, delicious and amazing ice cream! Keep in mind, the shop is very small. You'll need to plan on waiting in line outside the store during busy hours. It's definitely worth the wait though! A must visit when in Madrid!
Nikelle M — Google review
Friendly service, choice of either a chocolate or vanilla fish and 4 flavors of soft serve/froyo you can mix and match plus two toppings. Ice cream is refreshing and the fish itself is delicious! Stumbled upon this gem by accident and a happy accident it was! ☺️
Tjasa G — Google review
A very small location, usually with queues, to buy Taiyaki (soft serve ice cream served in fish-shaped waffle cone). You have two options for the cone: vanilla or chocolate and 6 options for the ice cream, including vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel, and matcha. For 1€ extra, you can add 3 toppings, including crumbled Oreos, molten chocolate, or pretzel sticks. To be honest my ice cream was good but nothing out of the ordinary; price was ok (4.50€ with the toppings) but I don’t know what the fuzz is about this place (other than a perfect IG pic). I went right before it opened at 3pm on a Sunday and there was a queue already.

We went to this wonderful place because my friend is Vegan, and I have to admit that I’m not. But wow, I was honestly blown away by how amazing the calamari sandwich tasted! If someone had offered it to me without mentioning it was Vegan, I wouldn’t have guessed—so delicious! And don’t even get me started on the biscuits and ice cream—they were incredible! We were lucky enough to be served by the same lovely person on both of our visits. She was super friendly and nice, and her dish recommendations were spot on. Really made the experience even better! Every item on the menu is Vegan, and there are so many tasty options to choose from! I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Amazing 100% vegan place! Great selection of vegan food and desserts. The croissants are really good, I would recommend the ham and cheese croissant. They have a big menu with lots of different options and some deals for breakfast/brunch/lunch. From breakfast to burgers and tacos, cake and ice cream to waffles and milkshakes. This place has it all! The service is great and the food is reasonably priced. Visited 4 times in 3 days. Would 100% recommend!

Very central, honest price. The guy that was serving was lovely, and the woman was very uneasy/kinda stressed out, but that happens I guess. Food was great apart from the 2 long hairs we found on 2 separate items we ordered… The environment is v fast food/diner style for very casual meals!

What can I say that's not already been said. I wish I had been able to go to Freedom Cakes some more times. First time I just had the baked cheesecake, I could not believe all of those cakes were vegan! Second time I had a croissant, everything was great. I actually sat in there eating my cake with tears in my eyes asking why can't everyone just be vegan and eat like this ? !
Mimi V — Google review
My non-vegan friends were astonished. Waffles, cakes and all the other things that we got were delicious, nothing to complain! Everything is vegan and it’s very tasty and well-presented. The only thing was that some staff members were not always as friendly and smiling as in other places but I guess it depends on the day (also, they didn’t ask what kind of plant-based milk my friend wanted which would have been appreciated). Prices are slightly higher in comparison with other non-vegan places but it’s definitely worth trying. I ate things that I’ve never tried before because their menu has plenty of options which gives it a plus. On the tables in the “terraza” it says that there’s a +10% of the final price but I don’t know if they really applied it (if they didn’t, I appreciated!). I would definitely go back
Eleonora B — Google review
I came here on my own while waiting to check in to my hotel. I had the breakfast bap, curly fries and masala tea. I was very happy with my choice although the fake bacon was too close to bacon for my liking. I don’t really like meat or most fake meat but this was my mistake and I’m sure vegetarians/vegans who like the taste of meat would enjoy it. The music was nice and not too loud. It was around noon and there weren’t a lot of staff around, in fact, only one person was manning the main area. She’s very efficient and friendly enough, patient with my poor Spanish, too. I decided to stay longer and order a milkshake which was a good decision. It’s possible to ask them for tap water (with ice, if you like). All in all, it was a lovely choice for brunch and I’d come back again.
Angela A — Google review
Really cute all vegan diner. Service is nice. Their daily menu is worth the money, however I don't think their brunch menu is worth it as you get very little of the "egg" scramble and just 2 slices of "bacon". That being said their cheesecake is the best vegan cheesecake I have EVER eaten. Definitely a must try. I would recommend this place to stop there for a cake or other sweets. I haven't personally tried their milkshake but it seemed very popular with other guests and it looks great.

Casa Mira, located in the heart of Madrid's Habsburg district, has been a sweet haven since its establishment in 1842. Renowned for its artisanal nougat, which is considered the best in Spain, this historic confectionery also offers an array of delectable treats such as marzipan, polvorones, and candied fruits.
This is a century-old store. The desserts and cakes inside are favorites among Spanish locals. Most of the people who come here to buy are local Spanish elderly people of the same age.

QUEUING UP TIME. One of the most delicious Christmas sweet we have is nougat. You must visit Mira for the best nougat and other Christmas specialities in the world, even in summer! They have dozens of types and you can choose buy packed or cut to the quantity you want in front of you. You will actually see the bars of turrón coming out the kitchen, shiny and creamy. To me the king is Jijona type, don't miss marron glace and glaced fruits too. In December you will have to wait in queue for a good one hour sometimes but you won't regret it.
Iñaki M — Google review
The store makes a huge impression, the display look surreal. Unfortunately, the quality of products isn't the best and definitely not worth the money. I bought a brownie there which looked super delicious but wasn't; covered in chocolate like mass (more like fat) and was very underbaked and tasted more like cheap chocolate cake rather than a brownie. Would probably not visit again.

This place is good for delicious pastries. We had a few things here but our favorite was a fillo with custard. Very flaky, crunchy and the cream was not overly sweet. There was also a big donut like pastry with custard that was good. I didn't have the turons from this place but they looked good as well. The attendants don't smile a lot or greet you but Ive noticed that in a lot of places here in Madrid where you don't sit down to eat are the same. Who knows.

Nestled on Calle del Pozo in Madrid, the Antigua Pastelería del Pozo is a charming bakery that has been delighting locals and visitors alike since its establishment in 1830. This iconic spot, managed by the Leal family for three generations, offers an array of artisanal cakes and traditional Spanish pastries. Among their specialties are the beloved Kings cake and flaky treats that evoke nostalgia with every bite.
Did you know that the City of Madrid has been honoring businesses that have been in the city for more than 100 years with a bronze plaque? This small bakery is one of such businesses. It offers delicious, fresh baked pastries that melt in your mouth. Really friendly staff. If you are looking for that special gift or just for yourself, this is the place you were looking for in Madrid. The box price is per kilo, which means you get more for your money.

Madrid is known for its warm people and vibrant atmosphere, but this bakery? It’s like stepping into a sitcom where the grumpy old lady is the star—and not in a good way. The cashier’s charm is so nonexistent, you'd think she’s been hired specifically to scare tourists away. Smile at your peril, because you’ll get a glare colder than a Madrid winter. And the prices? Let's just say your wallet will feel lighter faster than you can say "croissant." Even the overpriced pastries seemed to be thinking, “Are we really worth this?” If you want a lesson in unfriendliness served with a side of daylight robbery, this is your spot. Otherwise, keep walking, Madrid has way better places to charm you!

Seems like it might be the oldest bakery/patisserie in Madrid! Founded in 1830. Small, but lovely and. The servers were happy to be there and very helpful. It is one of the oldest pastry shops in Madrid, established in 1830. Its signature item is the Roscón de Reyes, a round, ring-shaped cake traditionally eaten on January 6th for Three Kings' Day. Notably, this version does not contain a figurine or a bean inside. Their pastries, including Empanadas, Hojaldres, and Ponche, are also delicious.

Listen, this place is absolutely amazing. In spain, I have been dying to perfect vegan donuts and this is literally the best donuts I've had here. Everything is vegan... the chai latte is 🔥 👌 soooo good. I would come over and over again just to drink that. They have regular donuts and some that are a bit different. I decided to try a pesto donut. I loved it because it was filled with cream cheese and was nutty and savoury. My kids did not like that one, but they enjoyed all the others. I also tried their bagel and it's huge! If you're hungry, I guarantee it's going to fill your stomach! The atmosphere is very tranquil and relaxing. The pistachio donut is giant and tasty. The mokka donut was excellent as well. Thank you, lots of love, and frea Palestine from zi0nism occupation ✌️🧡🐶🏳️‍🌈

Vegan donuts, my first try in my entire life and.. I loved it! The place is such a gem. Spcious, good donuts and coffee. Can't use a laptop during the certian time when the shop gets busier. If you come when not busy, it is such a relaxing place to enjoy coffee and donuts. Highly recommened.

Very cool place! Due to a dairy allergy, we are always looking for places with vegan sweets. Here we had quite a selection. Sensational cinnamon roll and pistachio cream roll. We went back there three times during our three-day stay in Madrid ;-) Coffee also very good, sensational home made ice tea (but unfortunately not often available). Clean place, very friendly staff.

I'm not even vegan, but I was looking for a donut shop in the area and found this one, which was the best rated. And that is well deserved, the donuts/patries are very fresh and incredibly tasty. The staff is also very friendly and spoke English. The only downside is that there is only one shared toilet which was very basic, better soap dispensers and more toilet paper would have been appreciated. But overall definetely a must if you have a sweet craving, even if you're not vegan.

Very good dessert. We got the waffles with Nutella and banana dulce de leche. We came at 21:00 and were the only ones here. We also got a spicy beef empanada which was great.

Ice Creams were really tasty and ambience is good enough for a ice cream shop. Quantity of the scoop was heavy. I tasted 5 types and finally chose to have blackberry. Recommend to visit if you are nearby

I loved this place so much during my time in Madrid I would go there every day for breakfast. If you are a fan of high quality, natural flavors in your ice cream, this is the place for you. If you like dulce de leche on your waffles, this is also the place for you. And if you like a savory, fresh crepe this is also the place for you. And if you find yourself there, try the alfajores, they are delicious! (Here's a photo of my dulce de leche waffles and coffee with milk.)

Bite Me Café is a charming neighborhood spot that offers a wide range of sweet and savory homemade vegan donuts along with freshly brewed coffee. The café takes pride in its innovative flavors, featuring unique creations such as the Donut Pistachio Pear and the Sausage Melt. Upon entering this cozy establishment, guests are warmly welcomed by the owner, Joel, who passionately explains each flavor.
I absolutely love this place! The donut flavors change weekly and their cinnamon rolls are the absolute best! They also currently have a pistachio latte, which is delicious and not too sweet. The best thing about Bite Me is that it’s totally vegan. The atmosphere is cozy and small and the staff are always kind. They also have outdoor seating which is fantastic.

Bite Me Café is a quiet gem in Madrid. Everything is fully vegan, from the creative donuts (called Halos) to the carefully made lattes and savory weekend bites. The space is small, cozy, and welcoming, with a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to linger. Flavors rotate often, and each donut feels like a little surprise—beautifully made and full of character. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t need to shout to stand out. Go early if you can—the best treats tend to sell out

one of the best coffee shops i’ve ever visited. i was walking around in madrid and saw this little shop, decided to get my coffee there. a simple order: iced latte with almond milk. the atmosphere was so nice, playing chill jams in the background. i got out, took a sip of the coffee and immediately went back in to tell them it’s the best aromatic coffee i’ve had. the owners was so friendly and we talked for a bit, he told me about the different types of coffees they use and lend me some to try, and also gifted me a berry basil which was AMAZING! must try, thanks for all❤️

I was a person who doesn't like to eat donut but since I found this place, I became to be a donut lover. The handmade donuts here change every week. I always excited to come and try the new favors. For the drink, the coffee also very nice but my favorite one is the mandarin+rosemary brand Linda... it's super fresh and aromatic!!. About the service, the staffs are very friendly and they always excited to explain you what the donuts favors. This coffee café always full of the customers... especially on the weekend but less on the week day and you don't need to wait for a long queue, I suggest to come on the week day. ❤❤

The first thing that will stand out in this place is the staff. Extremely friendly and kind, they elevated this experience to another level. For the food, do not be put off by the fact that this place is vegan, it's delicious and is indistinguishable from a normal donut by being vegan. They offer common flavors, such as chocolate and hazelnut which has a delightful richness and strong chocolate flavor without being too sweet. They also offer more eclectic options such as a basil and lemon donut, the flavors of which explode like a wonderful spring morning in your mouth. The dough is soft and springy, melting in your mouth like a cloud. And let's not forget, the most adorable dog ever.

La Violeta is a historic establishment in Madrid, known for its extensive selection of vermouth. With over 30 varieties to choose from, it offers a unique and diverse tasting experience. The bar is run by the fourth generation of owners and has a charmingly renovated tavern atmosphere. In addition to its vermouth offerings, La Violeta is also famous for its signature confectionary, the Carmelos de la violeta, which has been sold at the central location since 1915.
This place is something else! I recommend going here during the vermouth o’clock on Sunday - yes, perhaps you’ll have to stand squeezed between a group of neighbours and chess players, but nothing screams “the vibe” as much as this. The selection of vermouths is fantastic, and they provide the scale from sweet to dry, so you can choose according to your preferences (or just try them all)! Also, should I even mention that the interior is ultimately cool?

Authentic flavors, actual taste of strawberry, pistachio and mango, very good!

Rather mediocre ice cream. We tried several flavors: chocolate, vanilla cookies, mango, peach, and orange with mint. They all had a hard, almost frozen texture—nothing to do with the creaminess of good gelato. The flavors themselves were okay but lacked intensity. Dolcezza a few meters down the road is much better.

TreZe Restaurante offers a modern and sophisticated dining experience, serving inspired Spanish cuisine such as fried pork belly and roasted meats. The restaurant is known for its set lunch option, which includes a three-part appetizer of different tapas, a main course like Iberian pork or fresh sea bream, a dessert, and a drink. The desserts at TreZe are highly praised, particularly the gamoneu cheese tart and creamy cheese served with jelly.
Treze – Modern Spanish Elegance in Madrid Located in Madrid’s Salamanca district, Treze offers a refined twist on traditional Spanish cuisine. Chef Saúl Sanz creates inventive dishes featuring seasonal ingredients, like tender veal sweetbreads with red curry and crispy torreznos. The minimalist, light-filled space and open kitchen set a sophisticated yet welcoming tone. Awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand, Treze perfectly balances innovation, flavor, and approachability. A must-visit for lovers of modern, elegant Spanish gastronomy.
Javier R — Google review
Treze is a fine dining restaurant with a unique menu with very interesting choices, a great deal of seafood choices and for those with not such a large appetite as the portions are small. The quality of the food is excellent and the choices are varied so there should be something for everyone. Having said this, I had everything from the “off the menu” and all of the special dishes of the day. Although I thought their ingredients and preparations are of a high level quality and standard, I was not impressed. We asked for the main dish which was a part of the Tuna fish that is right behind the head and supposedly very prized but I didn’t like the texture of that part of the fish. It was slimy and gooey, so not for me or my friend with me either. Neither one of us enjoyed it. We also picked the salad of the day which was a mixture of three types of beans and also Tuna fish (I guess we were really in the mood for Tuna!) and it was fine. We also had a tomato salad that was also fine. I have to say that the service is excellent, the waiters do know their “metiere” and know how to present and sell the dishes to you, plus they made you feel tended to and taken care of. The atmosphere is nice and elegant but not over the top. It is pricey so be ready for the bill… Then again, it is a Michelin star restaurant!
Marilyn S — Google review
This restaurant has some staff members who speak English and the restaurant takes reservations. Service quality was a little uneven with some staff members who were rather dour and were so keen to clear your cutlery it seemed like they were hurrying you. Some tables were offered a choice of bread but other tables were not, it’s not clear why. The food was good, but not exceptional. Their best dish was the prawns with creamy rice. Croquettes were creamy in the centre and crisp on the outside, Torreznos were crispy too.
Benedict L — Google review
Treze Restaurante delivers a well-earned Michelin rating through exceptional execution of carefully crafted dishes that showcase both technical skill and creative vision. The restaurant demonstrates why it has achieved this prestigious recognition with consistently high-quality preparations across multiple courses. The appetizers, including jamon croquettes and salad, were decent and provided a solid foundation for the meal, though they didn't particularly stand out from the exceptional courses that followed. The stewed beef cheek was succulent and so delicious, featuring the kind of slow-braised tenderness that transforms this humble cut into something extraordinary. The rich, deep flavors demonstrated the kitchen's mastery of traditional braising techniques. The steak was excellent, showcasing quality sourcing and precise cooking that meets the high standards expected from a Michelin-rated establishment. The highlight of the entire meal was the perfectly cooked roast pigeon paired with beef gyozas - an inspired combination that bridges European and Asian influences while maintaining flawless execution. The pigeon was cooked to ideal doneness while the gyozas provided an unexpected but harmonious accompaniment. For desserts, the apple tart had more apple than tart and proved to be an acquired taste - not sweet at all, appealing to those who prefer less sugary endings but potentially challenging for diners expecting traditional dessert sweetness. The coffee puff pastry was lovely, offering a more conventional but expertly executed sweet finish. I particularly appreciated that the menu allows the flexibility of ordering half portions and full portions, enabling diners to customize their experience and try more dishes without overcommitting to large servings. Additionally, the private dining room was perfect for my group of 10 persons, and the we had a lovely waiter who spoke both English and Spanish!
Jonathan N — Google review
From the moment we asked for an English menu we were treated differently. Service was not good and food was even worse. Steak was 1kg and .5kg was fat. Ordered it medium well and see the attached photos. In no world is that medium well. So much sinew it was practically inedible. Also I’ve seen butter knives sharper than their steak knives. How this place got a bib gourmand is beyond me. Also see the photo of their “French fries”. Please do not go here.
Bryce D — Google review
Spanish food with a modern twist. We ordered patata bravas, some type of white fish prepared cold (off the menu, maybe sea bass?), the pichón asado with gyozas, and the green tea pannacotta for dessert. Limited menu but everything tasted superb. Price to quality ratio was reasonable, but would have expected lightly bigger portions for the main entrees (fish and meat).
Natalie S — Google review
What a special tasting. The TorrezNos (pork belly crackled) supremely light, meatball with sweet sauce, then squab (pigeon) delightful with a pastry cup to the side with savoury tastes, and pig trotter stew served with amontillado (supreme pairing to give the acidity). Highly recommend. Great service. Come with a mind to try new things!
Simon T — Google review
I expected more! The service wasn’t super friendly. The dishes we got were okay, but they were a bit too salty or a bit too seasoned with smoked paprika or simply too raw (we weren’t even asked how we prefer the meatballs - medium, rare or well-done). Burrata was perfect!

Great place for GF dining in Madrid! I visited Celicioso during a trip to Madrid- I was staying near the one on O’Donnell but also visited the one in Gran Via. This is a great venue for celiacs and/or someone requiring a low GF diet. I went as 1 of 3 people; I try to eat a low GF diet but have eaten gluten (so can tell the difference) and the I other 2 people eat gluten. We were all impressed with our food. When we went in we were worried about what food was available as the fridge was pretty empty (about 3pm) but we ordered from the menu. As a group we tried the pancakes, poached eggs with salmon and chicken sandwich. The only criticism was the bread was a bit dry, it would benefit from a spread that would make it moist. The pancakes were lovely- I had them with maple syrup which gave it flavour. I enjoy pancakes and have to say these fell into my top 10. I would recommend getting some fruit with it though, to add a different texture. The other two dishes were cooked well. Both stores in O’Donnell and Gran Via have large dining spaces to eat in, or if you want you can take away. In O’Donnell there is a large dining space downstairs. The service was good and the food came relatively quickly. For cakes we tried the lemon pie and the vegan black velvet cake slice. They were both well made- they pastry had a crumble and they both had good flavour. I consider pricing is reasonable- approx 14 euros each for a meal and drink. This is truly one of the nicest places I have eaten that offers a GF menu. I only wish there was one in England! I will definitely recommend visiting

Rude staff, the worst Granizada I’ve ever tasted - lumpy ice, full of lemon seeds, very sour , hardly any lemon and no sugar. When i asked to politely have it remade they just dumped it back into blender with another slice of lemon. I ended up throwing it out. Overpriced food as well for the quality. The bakery items are not worth it even if you are celiac. Go elsewhere!! This cafe needs to rethink their customer service and quality of the food and beverages they serve. Unacceptable!! Spain is full of delicious food and friendly restaurant staff. This place is not it !!

Sandwich was dry and stale, my partner took two bites and refused to eat the rest. Tofu bowl; the rice tasted and felt like it was 3 days old with no flavour. I forced myself to eat half the bowl because I was starving. The gluten free cake was decent. Only thing I would give 3 stars. All for €32. Over priced, wouldn’t recommend.

Bottom line: gluten free heaven in Madrid. Gluten line: every. Single. Thing. There's even ciders and beers! Long line: first stop in Madrid after a long flight for breakfast. Disclaimer: wifey and I both are Native Spanish speakers.

100% celiac safe which is great. Pastry was awesome (i got the Santiago something). A bit overpriced. The 10€ salad I got was all cheap chewy pieces of meat, sadly. Panda Patisserie stands out from the rest with its unique offerings, guided by Ricardo Velez. They delight customers with their adaptations of Japanese sweets to suit Western tastes. Their menu features delightful treats such as cherry blossom and lychee macarons, mochis, spring dangos, dorayakis, and the famous fluffy pancakes. The patisserie is open on weekday afternoons and for weekend brunch, offering a delectable experience.
It was a good experience, we loved everything we ordered. The most favorite were the japanese cheesecake and the fluffy pancakes 🤩 The service was good and we were welcomed and sent off by a very kind and friendly waitres. The only downside (if any) was when searching for the address, there is no outdoor sign to indicate this is the Panda Patisserie and qe had to look around and make tours until we figured it was there (inside the Japanese restaurant).

Pretty, traditional Japanese Coffee shop. The cheesecake was amazing! But the rest of the food was simply not that good, definitely too expensive for what it’s worth. And they took such a looong time, I won’t be back.
Rut H — Google review
The brunch is 20€ which isn't bad, but the quality of the food could be better. The staff need to be friendlier and more available. Pancakes are beautiful and fun, but they're not a huge deal. And the taste could be improved, they're a bit bland. Also, it takes around 30-40 minutes to make the pancakes, but don't know why... Other items on the menu aren't good. We ordered brioche with scrambled eggs, tomato and avocado. There were three tiny slices of avocado, normal cheap bread instead of brioche and instead of scrambled eggs it was an omelette, which they claim is how they serve their scrambled eggs. Included in the brunch is a bowl of fruit, not a big deal, tasted good, but it's not seasonal fruit and it seems like something you could buy in Mercadona or any other random place. It could be better. The restaurant has a great location and interior design, but they must improve the quality of their food and not rely only on one beautiful dish as is the case of the fluffy pancakes. However, if they continue to have an arrogant attitude and don't improve the quality of their other dishes on the menu, I cannot see how this place will thrive.

The fluffy cheesecake and pancakes are the best. Although, the overall menu is very good and tasty. Be aware that the service is quite slow but totally worth waiting. So, if you are not rushing anywhere, just wait and enjoy your time.

Some sort of specialties but the service is slow AF. The place smell weird. And the minimum time to get serve is around 45-50 for a freaking fluffy pancake. Oh and be really specific with what you order. They barely hear you. For a espresso and a side of ice… 20 minutes. When you enter they tell you it’s gonna be five minutes of waiting my a….ss … I’m not coming back. PS: I cry seeing this fluffy pancake. What a joke

Churrería Chocolatería 1902 is a renowned old-fashioned restaurant that has been serving up delectable churros and homemade desserts since 1902. In addition to traditional options, the establishment also offers gluten-free and vegan choices, catering to a wide range of preferences.
Delicious churros and really patient and kind customer service. I can’t eat gluten, lactose, eggs, soy and nuts and the gluten-free vegan churros and lactose free chocolate sauce catered perfectly to my allergies. They also tasted amazing, were filling and well priced! Would highly recommend and wish I could go back 😍😋
Chantelle P — Google review
Had vegan churros here on 2 occasions. First time was on the left side (ascending) of the street (the bigger shop). The churros were ace! Really enjoyed them. The vegan chocolate is done with coconut milk which is good, it’s a mild taste, no texture (as a coconut hater). The team in the shop were so sweet. They were having a dance and a sing(bar me the shop was empty), it was really nice to just see hospitality staff enjoy themselves whilst working. Made a great atmosphere. The second time I went across the road to the smaller shop late one evening (around 11pm). Still had a good experience. I don’t know if the system they have works, as my churros came before my sauce. The churros were cold (by the time the sauce arrived) and the sauce was piping hot. That would be my only complaint. But the team in there are very efficient and on the ball. Would return if I’m in Madrid again 🫶

Another one of the popular chocolate and churro places in Madrid. It’s pretty good with different tasting flavours. The chocolate is not as deep and rich as Chocolateri San Ginés. I think it’s the milk they add into it. As others have noted feels like powdered hot chocolate. The porras are big and crunchy. The service is a bit clunky as the staff at front didn’t speak any English so it was hard to get the full order through.
Stewart W — Google review
Normally not a big fan of churros because I don't like how they cover it with powdered sugar but this not the case here in Madrid. I tried this place out via a recommendation from someone who had previously visited this place and it truly did not disappoint. The churros were the right amount of crunchy and soft and the hot milk chocolate was to die for. I was a bit confused on how to place the order but the staff were really kind. It was incredibly decadent and too much for my small appetite to handle (I devoured the entire thing!)

I know that this place is popular and I appreciate that they have gluten-free churros as someone who is a celiac. Unfortunately I absolutely hated the taste of both the milk and dark chocolate dipping chocolate at this location. While it looks pretty, something about the flavor reminds me of cocoa packets. I really disliked the chocolate. I also ordered a ham and cheese sandwich on gluten-free bread. It didn't look good but it tasted okay. There was a bit of a language barrier as we had ordered in English at the cash register (they do have bilingual staff) but my (Mexican) Spanish isn't good enough to understand the questions that the wait staff was asking in Spain Spanish after we sat down at the table. Apparently our choices weren't put on the ticket that tells the kitchen what to make, just general things like "gluten-free sandwich" was on the ticket without printing out the choice I had already made at the cash register. Obviously I do not expect staff in Spain to speak English whatsoever. I will say though that it would definitely improve customer experience if the choices or variations that we chose at the cash register were printed on the ticket that goes to the kitchen so that staff didn't need to confirm choices again with the customer after they already paid and were sat at their table. We didn't have much of a line when we got to this place and ordering was quick. We paid at the register before sitting down. The ambiance is nice and reminds me of the ice cream parlor in Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco, USA. Visited April 2025

I decided to visit this place because of its high rating but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. The atmosphere and the food were both a bit disappointing. At first, there was a long line full of tourists, and the girl taking orders spoke only Spanish, which made communication difficult, no matter how much we tried. Some drinks were unavailable, and instead of a hot chocolate with whipped cream, my child was served a Viennese coffee. On top of that, it wasn’t possible to pay with cash because the machine wasn’t working. The waitresses didn’t seem very friendly, and the hot chocolate itself wasn’t great — surprisingly, even the one at our hotel tasted better. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially after seeing such high reviews.

This is way better than San Gines, I’m sorry to say it. They have so much delicious choices and even gluten free! Tobias was so so kind and funny, I definitely recommend and gonna come back for sure! Lastly, i recommend to try the Dubai hot chocolate version!

Many visitors find themselves enchanted by the Andalusian breakfast, often returning daily to savor its flavors. The fresh breads and juices elevate the experience, complemented by consistently attentive service in a warm atmosphere that makes each visit memorable.
We had a wonderful experience, thanks in large part to David, our server. He was incredibly friendly and warm, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. His English was excellent, which made communication smooth and easy, and he was very informative about the menu and specials. The brunch special was outstanding—each element of the dish complemented the others perfectly in both flavor and presentation. It was not only delicious but also beautifully plated, making it as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the palate. Highly recommend both the food and the service. David truly made our visit memorable!

We found this place on google and it did not disappoint. It was fantastic. I wish we had more time to eat there again before we had to leave. We did the breakfast for two and it was enough food for a family of 4. 2 large eggs Benedict, avocado, yogurt, carrot cake, croissant, bread etc. highly recommend. Staff and service was also great.

El Jardín Secreto Madrid is a popular spot known for its cozy and enchanting atmosphere. Despite its name, it's no secret that this place draws crowds with its fairy tale-like ambiance and diverse offerings. The café boasts a whimsical Northern European and American-inspired decor, complete with twinkling lights, colorful patterns, and figurines of animals. It's a great place to enjoy Spanish cuisine such as tapas, sangria, cocktails, teas, and desserts.
El Jardine is a magical place to visit. The outside of the restaurant is lovely, however when we walked in, we were overwhelmed with the amazing atmosphere. The decor is truly outstanding. The attached pictures attest to that. We were warmly greeted and escorted to a lovely table. All the tables are lovely. We experienced the full bodied red wine. We had the artichoke dish. It was beautiful as you will see. It was delicious. The side accompaniment was so flavourful. The voices of the diners was so happy. We will return for our last night, we have been in Madrid for 2 months. Do miss visiting here.

This place exudes a whimsical charm, with its cozy ambiance and beautifully decorated interior. The food and cocktails were spot-on, but I would suggest a redesign of the menu. It’s quite challenging to read and comprehend.

I've been coming here for years, first time being 2014. Amazing decorations, cocktails and desserts. The two things that disappointed me a bit this year were the lack of AC and the lack of any baby changing facilities (the waitress offered to help me change the baby which was so lovely, so the staff are amazing, even if I didn't take her up on the offer!). I will come back nonetheless ☺️

El Jardín Secreto is truly enchanting – it feels like stepping into a Studio Ghibli film brought to life. The atmosphere is magical, with soft lighting, countless carefully curated decorations, and cozy window alcoves with tables that make the place feel unique and intimate. It’s worth visiting for the location alone. The prices, in my opinion, are excellent, and the cocktails are well-crafted and enjoyable. Although I didn’t have the chance to try the food, the host was wonderfully kind and welcoming. If I ever return to Madrid, I would most certainly go back – it’s a place that stays with you

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ El Jardín Secreto is such a hidden gem in Madrid! The desserts are absolutely delicious — rich, creative, and beautifully presented. The place itself has the quirkiest design I’ve ever seen: weird, random, and full of surprises at every corner. Somehow the chaos makes it super charming and memorable. Perfect spot if you want great sweets in a fun, out-of-the-ordinary atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at El Jardín Secreto. The food was outstanding - the tortilla was perfectly cooked, the jamón was rich and flavourful, and the prawn rolls were an unexpected highlight. Everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavour. The atmosphere is charming and relaxed, and the beer was amazing- crisp, cold, and the perfect pairing for the meal. Staff were fantastic and friendly too. If you’re in Madrid and looking for great food in a cosy spot, El Jardín Secreto is a must visit. Highly recommended!
Kenneth L — Google review
Essentially a tourist trap. Cocktails are ok, and dishes were reasonably tasty; however, the portions were far too large. Maybe this is due to what some tourists apparently expect, but one main is enough for two people. The menu is both excessively long, and online-only. If it was provided as a physical menu it wouldn't be as bad, but scrolling through the mass of pages was a chore. There are also far too many different fonts etc which makes it awkward to read. Decoration was OTT, and the kitchen was blaring music that cut into the restaurant.
Tom — Google review
The restaurant vibe is magical. The decorations, different types of seating. The menu has a large varity of food. I would not recommend for traditional Spanish food as the food is from different places. There's a high variety of desserts and cocktails. The food came super fast. It is a very busy place, I'd say always make a reservation

We've been searching for a great cake and desert spot ever since moving to Madrid. Unfortunately, this isn't it. From the historic street setting and cute decor to the great window display and glowing reviews, we thought we were on to a winner. But one bite in to the stale, tasteless cakes and we were instantly disappointed. We ordered two classics that any bakery should just be able to ace - a Red Velvet and a Death By Chocolate. The sponge in both cakes were identical apart from the colour - dry, stale and lacking any flavour. Perhaps the worst part of all was the use of cream (nata) for the frosting on the Red Velvet. It's almost criminal to call it a Red Velvet. It should be luscious cream cheese frosting. Not tasteless nata. I'd be shocked if there was any cream cheese used at all. And sadly, the indulgent looking chocolate cake lacked any chocolate flavor. Decorated purely for looks without any thought for flavour. The only positive was the friendly employee. This store clearly know how to make cakes look good. They just need to revisit their ingredients and make them taste good too.
Danny W — Google review
The place is okay. The products although don’t look fresh at all but they taste good. I got the brownies as recommended from the reviews but it was so stiff, more like a hard cookie. The strawberry cheesecake tasted nicely. The oreo cheesecake as well was light. The tres leche was nice but it had a bit of an after-taste. Personally, I wouldn’t try it again!

What an unexpected disappointment. The service was terrible, apathetic, unintersted and also informing tiredly that the card payment are not accepted. But enough about the service, the icecream: only 5 flavors, out of which two were sorbets. I took the day special as none of the other seemed intersted and was surprised to discover the icecream and the whole combo was rather ordinary for the amount of fame that the Roca brothers have in the world. Also, you couldn't get any word about the icecream from the person serving. All in all, I might have went with the very high expectations, but still, this has to improve to the fame that it has, urgently.

Highly expected but super disappointed. A pure marketing flop and kitsch without soul or real passion. The staff was not interested in her job at all. Both flavour we chose were industrial and chemical. No rocambolesc and not even confident with Can Roca after trying this terrible mix of just something. Kalúa Fuencarral 149 is a delightful ice cream haven that has captured the hearts of many in Madrid. With its roots tracing back to Argentina in 1982, this charming establishment offers an impressive selection of nearly 50 artisanal flavors, each crafted with high-quality ingredients. The authenticity of their flavors is remarkable; for instance, the Kinder Bueno ice cream perfectly replicates the creamy essence found within the iconic wafer.

So many flavor that it was super hard to decide! I like the fact that they are giving out the number and serve one by one - staff super friendly - giving you samples to try before you make decisions. I had a crepe - the pistachio cream aside and a scoop of cheesecake ice cream. Such a great treat on a summer day ❤️

Incredible icecream, super good. Quite popular, but the line moved fast. You really get your money's worth, eventhough it is a bit pricey. They have some flavors I've never had before and they are definitely worth it. Easy 5/5, definitely recommended. 💯

This place is amazing...I am visiting from New York and I absolutely love my ice cream. I stopped in after dinner and I was in heaven. The flavors that they offered are great but the presentations are better. They have a great variety of all different ice cream flavors and pastries. The staff was very patient and explained all the flavors and gave me all the samples I wanted. I 100% recommend them.

If you have a sweet tooth, this may be the right place for you. However, ice cream was too sweet for me and it was not as creamy as I expected. As for the cheesecake, the cheese part tasted wonderful but the topping… a heavy glaze of strawberry source with several dried super sweet strawberries… I felt like my teeth were falling off… Staff here were super friendly.

Not sure what others are talking about in their reviews but this place is FANTASTIC. Thank god I do not live here or I would weigh 1,000 pounds from coming here. The ice cream is insanely good and they have some really fun flavors. Didn't try their baked goods but they looked really good. Gets really busy in here and it is easy to see why so try to come during off hours.
Nick P — Google review
A good ice cream shop and I would rank it slightly above average. Their ice cream is semi-artisan and the taste is very good. In fact, I would rate the taste four or even five stars (I took pistachio-oreo and coconut). However, the place (table and floor) were not clean and people working there could have been a bit nicer and helpful. I got a large (grande) cone with two scoops. The cone was a bit small for the two giant scoops, so final product was very fragile and subject to fall apart easily. It was not easy eating it without causing a mess around.
Ahmad A — Google review
Ice creams are amazing and acceptable price (3.5 for 2 balls). They optimized the service for too many people, because normally have queue, so first pay for the product that you want and later, you choice the flavours, leaving time to decide. The ice cream coming with pieces of cake, fruits, cookies or whatever anything was made that flavour. Something that I love. Personally carrot cake and oreo pistachio for me are ones of the best that I tried.

We came for breakfast. I didn’t like their crepes, but loved everything else. I had an underwhelming crepe (egg, too much cheese and poor quality ham) and an impressively sized scrambled dish (much bigger than expected). We also ordered an amazing carrot cake (yum!). We were drawn in by the ambitious claim of serving the "best chocolate cake in the world," but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for us. To be frank, we found the taste to be a bit strange and not very well-balanced. Of course, this might just be a matter of personal preference. If you are craving for something sweet, I recommend stopping by this place. It was one of the best cakes I tried in Madrid, so fluffy and fill with chocolate. It is a little bit pricey but I understand since it is one of the only things selling in the shop and it is very famous as well.

We came here because we saw it while walking by. It is a charming hole in the wall. The Cafe con Leche was okay. The tarta de chocolate has a 50% and a 70% option. We got both. I generally love the ice cream in la Romana and since I come here often, one day I decided to try the hot chocolate. It was the most delicious hot chocolate I ever had. It was so thick, delicious and had amazing whipped cream on the side. Not surprisingly, I was back for more in a few days. To my great disappointment, what I got was nowhere near as good, it was too sweet and watery, and had no whipped cream. You can see the difference in the pictures, it is as if these drinks were served in two different places. Very sad, I hope they will notice and pay more attention to delivering quality more consistently

If you want diabetes, this is the place to be ! The lemon pie was overly sweet, the Italian meringue could have stuck bricks together and the wall would have held. We asked for not too sweet pastries, we were not disappointed by the sugar bomb! Overall the base of the tart was good and the curd was extremely buttery and a bit tasteless. The tart does look good but I would no recommend. Person at the cashier was nice, but it is hard to get a smile there. 6€ is a bit pricey, there are bakeries that do a way better job for the same price. Also, and even more so if your kitchen is visible to the public, please clean the walls, they were absolutely not maintained properly, with yellow and brown marks.

A delightful historic pastry shop and cafe in a beautiful corner new Caixa Forum and Museum Thyssen-Bornemisa. Fabulous pastries made in house, fresh and delicious. The cortado was perfect. They have decaf coffee and oat milk.

In a nutshell: AMAZING. I don’t even have a sweet tooth and I couldn’t resist to the red velvet cake! Great coffee, too.

My family and I came here twice during our stay in Madrid and we’d love to come back if we could! It serves some of the best desserts we have had. We waited for a table the first time, and got a few cakes for take away for the second time. Both times, the service and cakes have been excellent. It’s a very cosy cafe that is inviting and warm, and has a lovely selection of desserts. 10/10 would recommend!
