Nestled between the charming Woolen Mills and Belmont neighborhoods, Beer Run is a delightful fusion of a restaurant, bar, and craft beer shop that beckons beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike. With an impressive selection of hundreds of beers on offer, this spot is perfect for those looking to explore unique brews while enjoying delicious American fare like bison burgers.
Personally, I want to give a warm and well deserved Thank You to all who work here! It was absolutely incredible overall, I had the Chinese sticky pork belly, and I was such a piggy who definitely wanted more. However, portion alone was quite decent. Will, our server is absolutely spot-on, which is rare to find from some places. Absolutely will come again even though I live over an hour away.

I was blown away by the quality of food here! We came here at the suggestion of a tour guide in town and I couldn't be happier for it. The special of the day, Tomato Pie, was amazing! It's a rarity you find it on a menu at all but then have the taste to back it up is a treat. I don't drink beer so I can't speak to it but with the amount of choices offered here, everyone should be able to find something that they love. I would happily go back and try many more dishes here.
Lauren T — Google review
Have been here a few times and have really enjoyed my experience each time. The last time I came for brunch with some friends. They were a little crowded for the number of servers they had but it wasn’t terrible. I got the breakfast burrito and it was a lot of food and I was happy with it. The potato’s that came with it were pretty good as well. Prices were reasonable and they have a huge beer selection, both domestic and imports, so be sure to check those out as well

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon in July around 12:30 PM. It was not very busy. There is inside and outside seating. We chose to sit inside at the bar. We were immediately greeted by a bartender, and she gave us menus. We talked about the beers on tap and tried a few before deciding on the Freestone Walker Union Jack IPA. I had the local burger (which is smashed now) and frites (potato wedges not fries as I found out later). My spouse had the Turkey Trot. The burger was cooked too long so the edges were very dry. The frites were very thick wedges so they were not crispy like fries. The Turkey Trot had good flavor but the bread was so thick it overwhelmed the sandwich. The service was very good as was the beer but we were not impressed with our food selections.

Stopped in for lunch and was immediately impressed by the menu. Great variety. Soup specials of the day were white bean chili and squash, ginger bisque. Both were amazing. Great depth of flavor. Enjoyed a turkey club and another special, turkey meatball sub. Both were ample in size and tasty. Finished it off with a brownie made with rye which was excellent. No beer but the selection was solid. Our server was attentive and helpful. Outdoor space was perfect for enjoying the weather. Price point was very good. Definitely a place I'd return to.

Beer run always knocks it out of the park. The beer selection is always well stocked with all the craft beer you could ever imagine. I’ve been for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and am always blown away by how good their food is and how interesting they keep their menu. I live the rotating menu and always have an opportunity to try something new each time I go. Def recommend their nachos and shrimp/grits. Show this place as much love as possible!
Gino F — Google review
Some bartenders are great. Not all. Been going to beer run 10 years. Not often. I like the selection and generally the service. Last couple of times on a Friday at 4, the bartender was rude and short. Made me feel unwelcome and a bother. Same dude. Geez. Asked for a couple samples before deciding and got a couple drops of each. Didn’t help me decide. But I have made some decisions. Terribly start to a weekend. Love you beer run but some folks will keep me and others away.
David G — Google review
The nachos were awesome we got ours with the meat. My husband had the chicken pot pie which the filling was very flavorful but the crust left a little left to be desired so he didn’t the shell of it. And I had the shrimp and grits flavor also very delicious my only small complaint was that it was tail-on shrimp, mixed into this beautiful dish that you had to cut off and plop off to the side, I personally like to get everything out of the tail which then meant getting my fingers full of grits.

Hamburger restaurant

Family restaurant
Citizen Burger Bar is a popular dining spot in Charlottesville, Virginia that prides itself on serving top-quality burgers and offering an extensive selection of craft beers. The restaurant emphasizes using locally sourced ingredients, including buns from local bakeries, grass-fed beef, and Virginia cheese. While the wait for a table may be long, the house salad with fresh ingredients like grilled chicken and bacon is worth it. In addition to their renowned burgers, the restaurant also offers a variety of legendary salads.
I was on a mission to find the best burger in Charlottesville, and Citizen Burger Bar came up as the top pick—and wow, it absolutely lived up to the hype. Everything about our visit was fantastic. The star of the show was the Citizen Burger itself: stacked with fresh, flavorful ingredients and topped off with a crispy fried pickle that was a delicious surprise. I swapped out the fries for onion rings, and it was totally worth it—perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of downtown Charlottesville, on the pedestrian mall full of charm, energy, and people-watching. It really captures the vibe of the town and the university. One huge bonus: they’re extremely dog-friendly. They brought out a big bowl of cold water for our two pups without us even asking—such a thoughtful touch! My wife ordered the beet salad and loved every bite. We also appreciated the cold bottle of water left at the table to keep our glasses topped off—small detail, but it made the whole experience feel that much more relaxed and attentive. From start to finish, this was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we’ve had in a while. Great food, awesome atmosphere, and top-notch service. Highly recommend—easily a five-star spot!

I am *very* picky about cleanliness so take what I say with a grain of salt. The food is fantastic, best burger I've ever had (and I've had a lot of them), however I found the place to be a bit unhygienic. The bathroom sinks have stuff in them, we got given a plate with a few visible fragments of food, and there was a bartender sneezing all over the bar for a good 10 minutes, and they were covering their mouth with their hand, and even then didn't quite succeed to cover it every time. If you're sneezing more than a few times, please leave areas where food/drink is prepared :) With all that being said, even though all of that pushes me away, I would still give this place another chance in the future simply because I had the best burger I've ever had here. Good job chefs :)
Mason M — Google review
If you’re looking for a great high-quality burger, this is the spot for you! The Steakhouse Burger was delicious, and the beef was cooked just right and not overly greasy. I got a custom burger with the garlic aioli, which I’d definitely order again. The sides, especially the sweet potato fries, hit the spot. The location is on the main strip, and has outdoor seating.
Kenny C — Google review
Cool looking burger joint in downtown Charlottesville, VA. We opted to eat outside because the weather was great. The service was decent but our fries were forgotten, which was probably a good thing, since the custom burger and grilled cheese we got were pretty pricey.
Jessie C — Google review
The staff is friendly and while the wait for a table can be short the bar is normally open except for Friday and Saturday. The Mushroom and Swiss burger is good but the deep fried fries that come with most burgers really taste of the old style of cooking. The Sailor Jerry rum and coke is a fair bit better than a captain and coke. If you can make it for the happy hour or lunch you will find it worth the trip. Large screens for sports sit up on the wall behind the long bar.

We stopped here on our way through Charlottesville.... It was an easy place to find seating, the service was outstanding and the food was great. Definitely try this place out when you are in town!
Charlie K — Google review
Our party of 4 went to Citizen Burger Bar on a Saturday afternoon after strolling through downtown Cville. We got hungry, smelled yummy food and decided to grab some burgers. The other place we wanted to go to was packed, so we went to CBB instead, which turned out to be a mistake. We should have waited at the other burger joint instead. I am giving the food 3 stars because the fries were really good. Regular, cheesy and sweet potato, all of them were crispy and delicious. Not too salty, not too oily, just what we love. The burgers and sandwiches were meh. Mediocre at best. I had the Hotness and it was very greasy. The patty was overcooked and dry, the brioche was dry, the onions were too thick and chewy. I didn't finish it and that's something I never do. I always finish my burger if it's good. The grilled cheese tasted like plastic. The chicken sandwich was better but it had way too much mayo, the onion rings were huge and the bacon was practically nonexistent. The birthday cake slice was huge, but tasted old and stale. We paid over $100 for food and drinks and left hungry. Our waiter took forever to take our order and even more time to bring it out. I had to waive twice to ask him to come to our table to finally ask for the bill. The waitress at the table next to us was super nice, professional and fast. Ours was a disaster. On top of his speed, he smelled like weed and the music was annoyinly loud. I'm 100% sure we will not return to CBB again. Such a shame because it looks like a nice place.

Nestled in the Main Street Market, Orzo Kitchen & Wine Bar offers a cozy industrial-chic setting to savor Mediterranean cuisine. Drawing inspiration from Italy, Greece, Spain, and the South of France, their menu features delectable orzo alongside branzino, risotto, and international delights like coca de trampo. The restaurant's ambiance reflects the owners' Mediterranean travels with soulful cooking and warm hospitality.
Orzo is a lovely restaurant with a thoughtful, seasonal approach to dining and genuinely kind service. The moment we sat down, we were welcomed with a dish of house-made olives—briny, bold, and a great way to start the meal. They rotate their menu seasonally, and the current summer offerings were fresh and ingredient-forward, leaning Mediterranean but not strictly Italian. One standout was the salmon crudo—thinly sliced raw salmon paired with capers, evoking the richness of salmon lox but with the clean presentation of sashimi. It was a surprising and elegant bite that felt both decadent and refreshing. Although not on the summer menu, I ordered the beef tenderloin, and it was cooked perfectly to my liking. The rich, savory gravy elevated the dish and made it a satisfying contrast to the lighter starters. Orzo strikes a great balance between casual elegance and inventive cuisine. I loved the vibe, and I’d absolutely come back.

We enjoyed a business dinner for 9 people and had an fantastic experience. The atmosphere is great, the service is 1st class, and the food was excellant. They also had a great bar, albeit with limited seating, but looked like a great spot to hang and enjoy a nice meal. The Martini's are also very good. I look forward to eating here again. Appropriate for business, casual, and date nights.
William B — Google review
My first restaurant post-move-in to Charlottesville, and it was FANTASTIC! I cannot recommend Orzo enough, and I’m already starting to feel the charm of Virginia. The food was delicious, and so was the atmosphere. Shoutout as well to our server, Stephen, who made the night quite enjoyable. A friendly face is always comforting when moving to a new city, so having a kind server who took the time to chat with us was great. Once we were seated, we started with the 2020 Artimino Poggilarca Super Tuscan. The price was reasonable relative to the quality of the wine. Orzo is an Italian restaurant, so why not go with a Super Tuscan, am I right? Next time I might splurge on the Super-Duper Tuscan—haha! Moving on to the food, we started with the halloumi and some bread. The halloumi was delicious, and we all particularly loved the sauce that accompanied it. Stephen mentioned they made it with ouzo, which I usually do not care for, but cooking it together with the other flavors in the sauce changed my mind! The bread, I believe, is freshly baked, and they serve it with great olive oil. Having family in Italy and close friends from Greece means I’ve enjoyed great olive oil—and this was really good olive oil. For our mains, two of us had the Risotto D’Estate, one had the braised lamb, and another had the grilled fish. I do want to preface that the fish and the lamb were from their rotating “Passport Menu,” which Stephen said changes every 4–6 weeks. Regardless, the quality of the dishes tells me that whatever they have on this changing part of the menu will be good no matter what. The fish was a light, delicate cod with the right amount of smokiness and earthiness. The vegetables that came with the dish were well seasoned and not too mushy either. The braised lamb was very tender, and the quality of the meat was clearly good. The accompanying sauce had great flavors. For the two of us who had the risotto, we were also very happy! This is the dish I had, and it was a lovely blend of flavors. The pistachios in it balanced out the salty/sour-ish (not the best word, but you’ll know what I mean) flavor from the cheese in the dish. It was outstanding. Finally, we capped off the meal with a tiramisu, the chocolate pot de crème, and some limoncello. The limoncello, I should add, is made in-house—and OH, that was a treat! I didn’t try the tiramisu, but was told the creaminess was perfect. Some tiramisus can be too watery and the ladyfingers dry, but that was not the case here. Similarly, my pot de crème was to die for! I am a chocoholic and have been baking/making sweet treats for nearly a decade now, so I know a good dessert when I try one. The only thing they could add to their menu is espresso! They have regular coffee, but an espresso is really what I enjoy after dinner. Overall, we had a fabulous meal, and I cannot recommend Orzo enough. For my first culinary endeavor in my new home of Charlottesville, I could not be happier. Please check out Orzo—and say hello to my new friend Stephen.

We were in town for a triathlon and need to carb up. We received more than we bargained for. Service was top notch. Steven made sure we were happy and take. Care of. The Moroccan menu is spectacular- don’t miss it. We lived in Italy and had homemade Limoncello, but there’s is even better. The Salmon was prepared perfectly and the pasta was al dente! Do not miss out on a great meal!

It's my first time in Charlottesville. We were looking for a good meal not far from our hotel. We just happened to walk by Orzo and the menu looked great. I had a paper plane cocktail to start. It was very good. The Fish Special was excellent! It was rockfish. Flavor was great and plenty of sauce unlike many other places. The flavors complimented each other perfectly. The hummus was also very good. Always love a good baguette! This place did not disappoint!

We enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff was very good. The food was delicious and we loved the bread and oil so much we ordered a second one. I would go again even though they got us in, I would make a reservation next time.

Today I had the chance to try this restaurant during Restaurant Week, and I was truly impressed by the delicious flavors and the warm, friendly service. At first, I thought the portions might not be enough but turns out, I had to push myself to finish all the way to dessert. By the last bite, I was absolutely stuffed!

Breakfast restaurant
Family restaurant
Tip Top Restaurant, located on Pantops Mountain in Charlottesville, Virginia, offers a relaxed atmosphere with retro decor and a diverse menu featuring classic diner dishes. The restaurant is known for serving breakfast all day and incorporating Greek-inspired flavors into their offerings. Under new ownership, Tip Top continues to attract a bustling crowd with its satisfying meals. The establishment's history as a former Howard Johnson's restaurant adds to its nostalgic charm.
Came here for breakfast with my wife and enjoyed our experience here. The menu has a lot of good options and the portion sizes were very big, I could barely finish my meal. I particularly liked the corned beef hash, which you don’t often see on menus so I had to get it. The eggs were eggs (hard to mess up) and the home fries were good too. It has an old timer diner feel that I enjoyed as well. Would recommend coming here if you’re in the area, especially for breakfast
Randy T — Google review
Fun restaurant to visit. Nice, bright and well maintained. You can order breakfast all day so naturally we ordered pancakes, eggs and bacon. Service is friendly and fairly quick. Also had a chef salad which was very fresh and amply sized. Bacon was a little skimpy but tasty. Also had a toasted Genoa salami sub, while decent, wasn’t thoroughly toasted. Depute the minor nitpicks this is a great restaurant and will return. It is a little difficult to find if you’ve never been here before. If you are heading West, it is immediately after the Carmax. Parking up front seems to be taken most of the time but there is plenty more parking in the back. This is a popular local restaurant so you may need to be patient if visiting during peak times.
Kemal P — Google review
I should have gotten breakfast. The onion rings were room temperature onion slices wrapped in undercooked batter and grease ooze. The hamburger was warm and tasty and my wife's pasta was hot and delicious. Service was about what I expect from a 'one hit wonder' place...couldn't have cared less if anything was off or if we were alive or not. I understand this place wins all sorts of awards...wish those workers had been on duty when we were there...maybe I wouldn't be regretting not having had breakfast at 630pm.

My husband and I sat down for dinner on Friday, March 20th, 2025. We were seated immediately. I did not get our waitress name as she didn’t give it. Our waitress smelled strongly of cigarette smoke like it just hit us in the face. We gave her our beverage and food order at the same time and we still waited several minutes for our drinks. other people who came in after us had their drinks before we did. And let me point out yall were not that busy at all at the current time. My husband ordered a chicken parm sub with fries and I ordered a sausage parm sub with fries . We got our subs but we didn’t get the fries we wanted. We were served chips instead which is not what we wanted . One half of my sub literally has one piece of small sausage on it and the rest was bread and sauce. Also it was extremely unpleasant when I took a bite into my sub and it had a whole bay leaf in it. You all normally do not disappoint but yall definitely did that night. #1. Not a pleasant smell cigarette smoke. #2. Waiting for our drinks #3. Messed up food order #4 there was a whole bay leaf in a sub which is not edible or pleasant to bite into.
Stacey M — Google review
Popular local family restaurant. Very busy, but they are cranking food out like clockwork! Basic diner-style food. Not a huge menu selection, but they do good with what they offer. Friendly staff. Lot of parking in the back, but don't be dismayed if you have to wait a little bit...you'll get in pretty quick. It's noisy, but you can tell everyone is happily chatting.

Mediterranean restaurant
Sultan Kebab is a charming Turkish restaurant that offers a wide range of authentic dishes in a relaxed, art-adorned setting. The menu features an array of kebabs, vegetarian options, salads, homemade baklava, and traditional Turkish teas and coffees. Diners can savor succulent lamb kebabs, Iskender kebabs, shawarma, lamb kofte, hummus and kisir served on intricately designed traditional crockery.
We really like this place! All of the food tastes fresh and has great flavor. We came right before the dinner rush and were seated immediately, but the whole place was full by the time we got our food. It’s popular for a good reason! We shared the double meat platter with chicken and meatballs, it was delish!
Emme T — Google review
We ordered chicken kebab platter and lamb kebab platter for pickup. The restaurant was so pretty and super clean. The food tasted amazing but we were disappointed with the quantity of the meat given. The platter was full of rice but only one skewer of meat was given. It tasted amazing and authentic, was full of flavor as well, but for ~$20 a plate you would expect a lager quantity. I also would have liked some sauce with it but overall the food tasted good!

It was an amazing experience. We went 4 people without reservation and even it is Saturday night they arrange us a table right away. Staff were so friendly and kind. All the food we ordered was so delicious. Sultan kebab is my our new fav place. If you are looking for a great Turkish food Sultan Kebab is highly recommended

Wow... that Bulgar Wheat Pilaf is transcendental. The chicken is intensely savory and delicious. Kunefe? First time for me with that dish... I had no Idea Mozzarella could be dessert. Turkish coffee in a perfect little cup. Top Notch. Best Turkish Food I have ever had. Even the little side Turkish salad was tantalizing. Good Job guys.

It was our Go to place when we visit Charlottesville… but this visit was very average… their appetizer was very good but entree was very pricey but little too bland and very small portion for the price… Tge service was Okay.. the price is high and portions are very low taste also was just okay.. would have to Rethink visiting this place…
Prasanya M — Google review
The food is very very good . The only thing when you pay $20 for a dish it would be great to have more meat , it’s only one small skewer there.
Natalia R — Google review
Feels very overpriced for what you can get on a food truck. Nevertheless, the dessert is interesting. The funniest part is how I paid for a recommended platter and got 5 tiny lamb cubes, which left me hungry after I finish, while my friend got 4 giant lamb chops for nearly the same price, and he took home 2. I tried to ask for more protein and got served the same 5 hilariously tiny lamb chops for what I consider a very bad price. The restaurant is kind enough to let me refuse it tho. Avg $35 per person, would not recommend. PS: I now realize that the lamb might come from one bbq skewer, and there I go, 1 skewer for dinner, lol.

Soup restaurant
Revolutionary Soup is a casual, counter-serve eatery that offers farm-to-table soups and sandwiches along with artisanal beer and wine. The menu features a variety of vegetarian and vegan soup options, including the popular Peanut Tofu Soup. This local chain is known for its high-quality soups made with local ingredients, earning it the title of best Vegetarian menu in town by The C-Ville.
On a cold, rainy fall day, a bowl of hot soup is a great idea. If you're in this town, make sure Revolutionary Soup is providing that soup. They have a pick two option that lets you try a half sandwich (served as a wrap) and a small soup. We each had one plus a third small soup on the side for a total of five menu options. Every single one of them would be worth having again on their own. Among the soups, though, the lamb curry truly stood out as an outstanding flavor. Both the Kickin' Chicken and Thai Chicken wraps were amazing.

What a hidden gem!!!!! This feeling is only enhanced when you walk through the door to this quaint yet spacious reprieve from your day. The staff is amazing and the customers always smiling. Got a great recommendation and was totally satisfied. I didn’t order one but watching their perfectly crafted wraps being served was tempting. The wraps were layered evenly and looked picture perfect. This is a place you MUST seek out when in the area.
Chinedu E — Google review
A very warm, comforting food experience I had at this place. The soups and sandwiches are amazing. Freshly cooked, warm, and very refreshing flavors. Nice intimate place for communal eating. A must winter place to visit.
V A — Google review
The food is decent, but it’s seriously overpriced for what you get. Portions are small, and the quality doesn’t match the cost. It’s fine in a pinch, but there are better options nearby that offer more value for the money.
Justin M — Google review
Went for lunch on a weekday. They weren't too busy and we were able to get a table and get our food without too much wait. We both ordered a pick two. I had a ham and brie wrap which was really good and a ceasar salad which was just okay. Overall the restaurant was neat and I will probably go again, but will not be ordering the salad again.
Celina P — Google review
Wanted to try something local. Glad we did. The steak and cheese was the best sandwich out of the three. The potato rosemary was smooth and flavorful. The other soups were good. The BLT is an easy classic. The only drawback was the Adam was turned into a wrapped and sadly was very dry.
J B — Google review
Probably the best Philly steak I ever ate! Seasonings were phenomenal, the loaded potatoe soup was good as well as the moist little cornbread!
Whoop W — Google review
They definitely know how to run a restaurant cause it's very fast even when it's packed and employees are kind and helpful. Buddha bowl is good, lots of fresh arugula, curried lamb soup is amazing and the apple butter and goat cheese sandwich is so goooood. Even brownies are great. Definitely a good bet if you're short on time but want to eat quality food.

It offers a variety of authentic Afghan cuisine, including kebabs and other specialties such as seafood and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant provides a quaint, white-tablecloth setting for diners to enjoy their meals. Customers have praised the delicious food and friendly staff, making their dining experience outstanding. Some have suggested improvements in areas such as homemade Nan bread and background music to enhance the overall atmosphere.
My husband and I ate here last week. The atmosphere was wonderful, as well as the service. Our server Elizabeth was very kind and welcoming. She offered chai and dessert on the house. The food was great too (as you can see from the photos of course!) We will be back! Thank you all.

This place serves great Afghani food! I love their Qabuli with beef samosa. Also, the atmosphere is amazing and the staff is very hospitable. Shaila took very good care of us. I highly recommend the place

Absolutely delicious lunch buffet. The highlight of the buffet is the savory rice topped with raisins and carrots over the tender lamb. Lots of meatless options as well! The dessert pudding was great as well. Good value for what you get!
Maddie R — Google review
I come here all the time, the food and customer service is always excellent, top notch 👌, they make you feel like family. The buffet and the menu are all very good but I usually get the lunch buffet for the speed and convenience. The Qabuli Palaw, curried kidney beans, and curried potatoes are some of my favorites. There's a little variation in the flavor of the food from day to day but that just means it's real food cooked from scratch. Highly recommended! Come support this local Charlottesville business.

I had the buffet. It was until 2 pm and was good pricing all you can eat! Very authentic and healthy. Felt like middle eastern homemade food. The server was super friendly!

This place is GREAT!!! What a magnificent experience is when you come across a place like this, a place that feels homey and authentic. A place that carries you on a journey. To the folks complaining about the fact that it is " too quiet" you guys must be the typical Americans that go to a place to talk about your trips and your shopping and EVERYBODY has to endure your conversation. This place is a gem!! The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. The waiter is the very best waiter in Charlottesville, a very young man who is not only fast, but courteous, helpful and very respectful. The food is OUTSTANDING. Portions are generous. Salad is superb, fresh, crunchy and the dressing is delicious. Kabobs are very tasty. Rice is superb!! I highly recommend my new favorite restaurant in Charlottesville!!

I came with my son to enjoy the buffet, and we were blown away by how delicious everything was! The food was authentically Afghan, bursting with rich, exquisite flavors that truly impressed us. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of taste. On top of that, Babor took exceptional care of us warm, attentive, and welcoming. A fantastic dining experience all around!

This was our first time eating at Basil although actually we had carry out because of the Coronavirus. We ordered several dishes and ate them family style. We loved the hummus, spanakopita, and bruschetta!!! All 3 of those were delicious and we would definitely order those again. We thought the falafel and stuffed grape leaves were just fair and probably wouldn’t order again. Everything but the bruschetta came with hummus and pita triangles as well as lots of olives and small pickles. Lots of vegetarian options and we will order again sometime!!

We have enjoyed breakfast here so many times over the years. Personal favourites for breakfast are the Greek omelet and country ham. I have been known to get the BLT salad with grilled chicken for breakfast as well. Staff is always helpful and the food always good. Their lunch and dinner menus have lots of good choices. We look forward to our next visit.

Pretty standard for a diner, nothing spectacular but very reasonable. It wasn’t crowded and we did not have to wait to be seated. The service was friendly. The omelettes do not come with cheese so you have to ask for it to be added and have the choice of American or cheddar.

This was our first visit. Super nice staff. We felt right at home as soon as we were greeted at the door. Had the chicken parmigiana dinner, which was a huge meal. I took half home. The food isn't spectacular, but the atmosphere and staff make up for it. Cozy place.

Cavalier Diner has some amazing staff. They are good, caring folk. The ambiance is comfortable. It is simple, a little worn, and reminds my wife and I of places we'd eat in our Midwestern youth in the 80s and 90s. The breakfast food is very good (lunch/dinner offerings less so). The prices are also good, but not such that you worry about the ingredients. All in all, Cavalier may not be somewhere to come in from our of town for, but if you live here it's a great choice for a go to place for breakfast.
Tony B — Google review
Went here based on my credit card points. Great decision. Small town diner feel. The entire staff was so attentive. The food was classic. Nothing fancy. You can cook it all at home. But if you don't want to, this is a great place to visit. I went around 10AM so it wasn't very busy. I had one of the breakfast specials. I can't remember the name of it. But I had French toast, two eggs fried hard with cheese and tomatoes on top, bacon, and side of grits. And I had a coffee. All delicious. I'll be back for sure.

It was pouring outside and the restaurant was closed. The owner came to the door and let us in. It's nice to come to the place. I was a planning for that almost a year ago and finally I did it. The food is good but is not considered as a Middle Eastern food because there is American spirits on it. The best thing I had is kibbeh and lamb kabobs but if you love the beef or chicken it's not bad. It's good too. I recommended this place and I'm gonna back again for sure but also I want to talk about that tabouli and hummus It's not good at all and if This is the recipient of the restaurant they should change the name of it The team are so friendly and super nice

Like the place. Come all the time. But portions I feel are getting smaller. Ordered summer power bowl. The lamb we ordered and paid extra for came out like almost the size of dice. 2 drinks two bowls over 40$. Every piece was 3/4 to 5/8. Square. Used to not be like that.

Jonathan from STIX is the coolest guy ever. I messed up my order (meant to hit delivery but did pick up) and he delivered to me for free!! Love Stix!!! It’s the best in Charlottesville- super affordable and delicious while also being healthy!!!! Will definitely be coming back and telling friends.

I’m obsessed with Sticks. It’s healthy, fast, predictable, and priced decently - especially given I’ve heard they pay their employees well. The ONLY reason for 4 stars in the food sub-category stars is because sometimes I feel like there is a piece of chicken missing from my kebab (like there’s too much wood showing on either side) and since my only grievance is the protein portions are quite small in the first place- to them have even less chicken on the stick is upsetting. THAT SAID, flavor is on point, the green beans a yummy side for the platter, I generally get a chicken platter and add 2 veggie kebabs for $3 more and that makes a huge difference to me in terms of volume! The fire roasted pepper and cilantro lime sauces are the key for me - THEY’RE SO GOOD - texture, flavor, everything. The hummus is also amazing. You’ll only be disappointed if you arrive hungry and don’t add an extra kebab to your platter/salad. Pic is of my takeout order of the chicken platter, add 2 veggie kebabs, green beans for the side, and a small side of hummus & flat bread - my go-to! 🥰

Wow, the food was absolutely amazing. Great option for vegetarians! The barbeque tofu has so much flavor and the roots rice was amazing. This is a very healthy food option and the portion was really big. I got the southern and I would highly recommend. The sauce was also a nice touch, not too strong like some dressings, but a perfect light flavor addition to the bowl. 10/10

Such a delicious lunch here today! I had the create your own and loved it. The staff were super helpful and upbeat. Definitely plan to visit again!
Devin M — Google review
I’m in Charlottesville for a wedding and a group of us stopped at Roots for salads for lunch. We walked to our hotel and began eating when, not 15 minutes in, I bite down on something hard. It was a broken piece of metal. I then sifted through the salad and found a SECOND identical piece of metal. I walked back to the restaurant and alerted the manager and staff. They looked at me puzzled but were not in any way apologetic. I said I don’t want to make a scene but this just happened. They said “we don’t even have utensils like that.” Well news flash, you do and one is broken because the pieces were in my salad. I’m not a litigious person but I went to law school, therefore I am very familiar with lawsuits of this nature. The manager gave me a refund for mine and my Aunt’s salads, but the lack of care is what bothered me the most especially since the staff began making the next meal for the next customer without doing a thorough inspection of their utensils or ingredients. Accidents happen but they can also result in severe injury. I’m lucky I was not severely harmed by this incident but this restaurant must do better.

Nestled in the heart of Charlottesville, Virginia, Foods of All Nations has been a beloved grocery destination for over five decades. This vibrant store is a treasure trove of global flavors, catering to an eclectic mix of customers, including international students and locals alike. With an impressive array of offerings ranging from fresh produce and gourmet cheeses to meat & seafood and baked goods, it truly embodies the essence of culinary diversity.
I had a fantastic time visiting Foods of All Nations! This store offers a great selection of unique and specialty items, making it a perfect spot for food lovers. They carry a wide variety of local fresh foods, as well as international products that you typically can’t find in a regular grocery store. The store has a large selection of fresh packaged foods, along with ready-made meals to go. If you’re craving something sweet, they also have an excellent selection of pastries and desserts. I was also impressed by the extensive wine section, offering a range of options to choose from. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the store itself was clean and well-organized. If you're looking for something different or hard to find, Foods of All Nations is definitely worth a visit!

Can't speak highly enough of creating a gift basket with Ivan! He made the whole process so much fun, and so easy. We were able to put together a beautiful housewarming basket for far less than I were expecting to spend. Items, basket, and delivery were all super reasonably priced, and the experience was smooth, quick, delightful. Highly recommend using Foods of All Nations for any gift baskets, care packages, etc.!
Sarah K — Google review
Nice to have a store like this here but when I compared common items that are not international with other groceries, they're overpriced beyond! Also, you can find just about everything here at any other grocery store. I guess upper management must not be doing their job by researching the surrounding local groceries for them to keep the price tag as is. All you need is an afternoon to go around Harris Teeter, Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's, and Wegmans and to see what their prices are like on the readily available items then they'll know what to do. But they must care less.
G. C — Google review
Both produce and prepared food section is not fresh. I got expired salads that were so spoiled that they fermented in the plastic container and tasted tasted like vinegar. Eggs were not fresh either. Most products in the store are severely overpriced. It’s just a regular grocery store. They’re very few items that are actually unique or “international.” For unique foods, expect to pay an exorbitant premium. The self-checkout station does not work (What is the point of that terrible system?) and the strange lighting makes for an uncomfortable shopping experience. Overall, would not recommend and would not return. There’s so many better places to shop.
Zhk — Google review
A lovely grocery store with the freshest veggies, meats and bread. They offer delicious prepared meals that are worth every penny. I ordered a party cake from them for an event. Not only were the decorations just as I wanted but the cake was fabulous. A true local Win-Win!
Lori K — Google review
I made the 2-hour drive to this store because they used to have an incredible selection of international foods. Unfortunately, their British section is now about 75% smaller than it used to be. That was disappointing, but the real reason I won’t be returning is the customer service. The blonde cashier didn’t say a single word to me during checkout, and I had to ask just to get my receipt. Meanwhile, two other employees stood nearby and stared at me the entire time I was paying. Overall, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming and uncomfortable.

Adorned with sports memorabilia and photos of famous alums, this nostalgic spot is popular among students. They offer a variety of options including pizza, Greek fare, and comfort foods at great value. Customers appreciate their attentive service and reasonable prices for delivery orders.

So freaking delicious, huge portions for an awesome price. The lettuce and tomato stayed fresh on the steak and cheese and their sides of ranch are huge. Onion rings were crispy and yummy :) would definitely order again!
August A — Google review
Extremely disappointed with the quality of the food, if you can call it that, that we received on Sunday evening. We ordered $83 worth of food and literally non of it was edible. I am not picky when it comes to late night pizza joints. My only request is that it's edible, which College Inn definitely wasn't. I ordered two orders of mozzarella sticks and some fried pickles. Both dishes were complete rubber and void of flavor. The chicken sub was so soggy and I'm honestly wondering if it was microwaved or contained old chicken due to how rubbery and dry the chicken was. And our pizza, oh lord that pizza... Now I LOVE ricotta and white chicken pizzas. I saw that they had one on the menu so decided that it was perfect and right up my alley. Well, it was right up my alley to food poisoning. The chicken was again rubber, the cheese was inedible and separated from itself like it had been baked earlier in the day and then reheated again. After eating one bite of that pizza, I could tell that something on it had gone sour and I nor my husband could eat it. We ended up throwing out everything which was a huge disappointment as again, IT WAS $83! Hopefully this was a fluke for this restaurants sake, but I feel completely ripped off and wasteful since I could have flushed the money down the toilet and been happier.

I always went here with my fiance when he came to pick me up to go home for the weekend - because of the wings. The wings are totally delicious, but everything else is meh. Don't go here if you're expecting something amazing, the food here will clearly hold you over but it lacks flavor and just tastes... kind of microwaved and processed. I've had their pasta and it doesn't taste like the best pasta I've ever had. It's like they just threw together the noodles and sauce and that was it, no seasoning or anything. You are better off going somewhere else. I'm by no means saying they're a horrible place, their food is definitely okay if you're looking for just normal American food to tie over your appetite. The prices are okay too. They're usually not always busy so your food gets made in time and it's not a slow wait time at all - plus, when it's not busy, it's super quiet which is great!
Laura W — Google review
Ordered delivery, prompt and driver very nice. We found prices to be reasonable. Breaded chicken salad was huge. Chicken was a little dry but everything else was very fresh. Roast beef sub was very good altho could use a little more meat. Onion rings were crispy and very flavorful. We'd try them again.
Cindy B — Google review
Giving 5 stars for customer service on my delivery order. They were out of the kind of drink I wanted, so they called and told me what was available. I get that every now and then things are out of stock, and I 100% respected and appreciated that they called me to get my opinion on what I'd like to be done in the situation! There've been times in the past with delivery orders elsewhere when things out of stock are just substituted randomly, so the extra step in this case to make sure I got something I wanted stood out to me. Good job College Inn.

I’m a local and I’ve been eating here for years with that said I’m aware of the occasional mistake with food being made and they’re always quick to fix the issue. My problem is with the customer service or lack thereof. I recently placed and order and had the man literally laugh in my ear for saying I would not like to tip on the card before hanging up in my ear resulting in me almost calling back to cancel my order. I work in retail and customer service skills can make or break a business and needless to say the person they choose to have answering their phones just cost them a customer (I prefer to tip cash so the drivers don’t have to wait but I don’t feel that was the person who’s answering the phone lines place to decide to laugh because they felt I may have not been tipping the driver)

Zazus Fresh and Healthy is a popular spot in UVA, Charlottesville, and Albemarle County for those seeking fresh, delicious, and healthy meals. Located in the Townside Shopping Center on Ivy Road, it offers a variety of options including wraps like the Santa Fe with grilled chicken and outstanding salads with chipotle ranch dressing. The restaurant also provides a reward system for frequent customers.
I've eaten at Zazus countless times over the years (since 2002!). It is consistently near the top of my list of places to grab a bite. It's always fast, fresh and delicious. My go-to wrap is a Santa Fe with grilled chicken. It's simply divine. The restaurant changed owners a year or so ago, but it's as good or better than it ever was. Highly recommended.

The Charlottesville version of Chipotle, but with a lot more variety. There are a ton of great wraps across the menu. Prices are fair. Staff attempts to be friendly, but I've experienced a few communication issues at times. Try the Caesar wrap and add rice.

I love this place. I am so happy they are back open. Best breakfast burritos in town. I love to go after a night shift at the hospital. Fresh ingredients and so many options! Great for lunch and dinner too.

My salad was outstanding. The chipotle ranch dressing was wonderful. They have a reward system where you buy 5 salads you get 1 free. The prices are reasonable. Much fresher than chipotle and cheaper too. A wonderful place with healthy options. They also have a DIY salad like Chipotle but ingredients much fresher. Highly recommend!

Went here strictly based off Google reviews. Absolutely amazing food. If I lived in Charlottesville I would eat at this place way too often. Most definitely will be back to Zazus when I go back to Charlottesville.

Their breakfast burritos are amazing! It's a very hearty way of starting the day, and the salsa has great flavor!

Fine dining restaurant
Smyrna Restaurant in Charlottesville offers an exceptional dining experience with its warm and welcoming atmosphere, cozy decor, and comfortable seating. The menu features delicious dishes such as beef skewers, pita bread, trio of dips including a unique yogurt dip, and a scrumptious chocolate tart for dessert. The friendly staff adds to the delightful experience, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts.
My husband is a UVA alum from the 80s, so we were in town visiting from Cincinnati. We saw that Smyrna was a close walk from our hotel and went for dinner. The reviews are on point... Smyrna is fabulous. The service is friendly and impeccable; and the food is amazingly creative but not pretentious... just unbelievabley delicious (and beautifully presented). I'm not sure I've ever seen a prettier beet salad which was also scrumptious. (The cocktails are the same as the food ... so creative and layered with great flavors.) I'm not one to take photos of food, but I couldn't resist. Don't miss the baklava cheesecake... it's not what you think when you hear cheesecake. All I can say is that is was worth feeling too full to try it! Thank you, Smyrna, for a wonderful, memorable meal!

Smyrna’s excellent reputation did not disappoint! We enjoyed specialty cocktails and shared a few items (see list with names in photos)- All were delicious as well as lovely presentations. When our server Martin described the dessert Meyer Lemon Granita, with the Turkish cotton candy-like garnish, we just had to try it- nice & light but also like no other dessert (which I have sampled a lot)… we thoroughly enjoyed our total experience(-:

Fantastic dinner, service was great. Cocktails were delish, they also had a great amaro selection. Ordered the lamb special, gazpacho, chicken, pasta, bread service. No notes - everything was wonderful

My family and I had a wonderful experience here for dinner. It was out first time and we wanted to try everything...and we did :) The staff was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. He helped us make selections and coursed everything out for us in perfect time. The mezze trio, beet salad and hamachi crudo were delish! Possibly the best beet salad I've EVER had. And I can't say enough about the manti pasta...you must visit if you're in town.

This was one of the best meals we’ve had anywhere in the world by far! Delicate execution of delicious traditional dishes served by a very particularly attentive server. It’s a must go for anyone with a sensitive palate to fine details!
