Lots of Royal Marines memorabilia, nice pint and nice feel to the place. Just down from wetherspoons and far better pub. Food just served lunch time so couldn't say.

Fantastic little pub with lots of military memorabilia. 5 of us had a pint on the way to the motorbike meet. Bar staff great and locals friendly.

Every time we are going shopping in Poole, this is our stop! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the background music is great, people are really friendly and they have great selection of drinks. Oh and dog friendly.
Flo S — Google review
Dropped in for drinks one afternoon, Rugby World Cup was on so great atmosphere, Staff were very friendly (possibly landlady) and helpful, dogs were very welcomed too 😊
Chris S — Google review
Good old local pub close to the town centre and the landlord appears to be ex-services. Outside is a slightly iffy looking covering over the seating area but it certainly keeps you dry and warm which tbh is all that you need. First pub I've drank in with its own lifeboat!! Fairly good selection of ales and a decent price as well. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend a stop here if you want a break from shopping.

Went in for a Sunday Lunch, without booking, but luckily there was some seating available outside in the marquee. A little bit strange to order and pay for your drinks at the bar but then to order and pay for your food with the server separately, but it was fine, just not we’re used to. There was a bit of a wait for the server, Karen, to take our food order, but it was busy with some couples ahead of us, so it was understandable and Karen was SO friendly and bubbly, nothing fazed her. When the food arrived and we got stuck in it was worth they wait, my husband had pork and gammon and I had beef, the meats were perfectly tender and delicious with great roasties, large Yorkshire and side veggies. All the staff were very friendly and made sure everything was ok, we would happily return for a roast any Sunday!

Lovely friendly pub, food is excellent meat always cooked well the lamb just fell off the bone the veg tender and gravey delicious. Very dog friendly entertainment is fun

Takeout Restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque town of Corfe Castle, The Greyhound Inn is a charming low-ceilinged pub housed in a beautiful old stone building beneath the castle ruins. Its oak and stone floors create a cozy atmosphere for enjoying British and European cuisine from their menu, which includes gluten-free and vegetarian options. Visitors can savor delicious local food either inside or in the grassy beer garden, making it an ideal stop for lunch or drinks while exploring the area.
Helped that it was a beautiful sunny day but it was a lovely setting, right next door to Corfe Castle. We did move once as the family table we sat at was a bit rickety, but the staff were quick to help pull two bench tables together for our group of 8. We sat under a vine covered pergola, in a pleasant, stone, outdoor eating area. There was an outdoor bar & friendly & polite serving staff. The waitress had very good menu knowledge and was very efficient in taking our orders, reading everything back without error, having had to make numerous decision changes! The food came in a reasonable time given it was quite busy and we were a large group, and all the food arrived together. Everyone was very happy with their meal and enjoyed drinks from the large selection on offer. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially before or after a visit to Corfe Castle a very short walk away.
Marc F — Google review
We visited twice over a weekend. Firstly for drinks outside and an evening meal. Main bar is not suited to large drink orders due to close proximity of tables. During main meal times there is not the consideration needed to the bar. There is an outside bar which on warmer days would be a great addition. Food service team where superb and meals and table drinks were efficiently delivered. Excellent quality. Service charge is added for you to take off but service was excellent so no complaints. Toilets were very clean.
Andrew B — Google review
Avoid! Waited 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us at the door where we stood by the sign saying please wait here. Only to be taken outside to wait another 5 minutes for someone to seat us. Despite having a booking we were seated outside, the heaters weren’t on and it was a very windy day. No offer of blankets or the sort. I asked the waitress to recommend a dish, she recommended the chorizo and prawn linguine. It was vile. No flavour to it whatsoever as it was full of oil. Very disappointed. Didn’t even want to order dessert after that. Took ages to get the bill. View of the castle was okay but nothing special. I think we paid a service charge as well, which I think is ridiculous as there was no good service. Don’t eat here. Better going down to Swanage.
Jo — Google review
Really enjoyed this pub. Good food and a good range in the menu. The staff were very helpful, although quite young had everything under control a d service was great on several visits while on holiday. Food is really nice and a great selection of local beers and ciders. I'd definitely recommend

I love this place and it’s a staple place for cream teas every couple of months. Superb steak and pies and scones. If you visit Corfe Castle then this is for you.

Best Sunday dinner I've had in a pub.. lovely place, customer service was great. But food was great I had duo of meat pork n lamb and they were gorgeous.. Do yourself a favour and give them a go
Colin M — Google review
We recently had an excellent experience here for my sons birthday, with a walk in table of 11 the lovely waitress was very accommodating and seated us in a cosy space at the back. With the fire on it is such a nice setting for an autumn evening meal. Orders were swiftly taken and despite us being a large table the food came out not too long after. The food was hearty and delicious all our party enjoyed their food including the toddlers! We also had a birthday cake which they brought out and sang with us. We couldn’t have had a better experience and would definitely recommend!

Nestled in the charming town of Wimborne, The Old Thatch is a delightful 17th-century thatched pub and artisan store that exudes character. With its rustic beams and inviting open fire, this family-run establishment offers a warm atmosphere perfect for all ages. The menu boasts an array of homemade British dishes, including enticing vegan options like Chickpea Falafel and Wild Mushroom Parcels. Families will appreciate the dedicated children's menu and play area featuring a climbing frame to keep little ones entertained.
Dog friendly, cosy, great service and a fabulous beer garden with a kids play area. First time here as we went for a small birthday group… highly impressed.. the service staff were well trained and very helpful, we were served by Holly and all the the other members of the team were very helpful, professional and polite.. I told the manageress, Aimee, how well all the staff were performing and the credit to her training. The meal is served appeared to be homely… thank you all for a wonderful birthday gathering and a warm atmosphere.

This is one of my favourite, popular restaurants with ambience & friendly service. I love the way it spreads out & manages to maintain a feeling of warm-hearted hospitality. On this occasion I had a mushroom starter as a main course as I didn't have much of an appetite. My friend ordered a vegetarian roast which was accompanied by several vegetables including cauliflower cheese. I usually order roast beef on a Sunday & highly recommend it! The presentation, portion size & flavours were perfect once you added the vegetables. Gravy was served in a separate jug which is the way I like it. Prices are on the high side, but most of us complain these days. Very little is anything like what we paid a year ago! This is a lovely venue to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary or any other special occasion.
Glynnis S — Google review
I took my sister here for her birthday to have a roast. The staff were very welcoming and wished my sister happy birthday on arrival. We were seated and served very quickly. The food was excellent and I highly recommend everyone pays them a visit. They have a fantastic large garden area with climbing frames and music. We have already rebooked. The only bit of criticism was the hand dryer in the ladies needs updating to a more powerful one. Absolutely loved it 😊
Carmen B — Google review
Booked in for sunday lunch online. Dog friendly with pretty good service, wasn't impressed with one of our starters and had to wait a while for our roasts to come out however the roast was actually pretty good, the meat was soft and not chewy at all. The star of the show was definitely the desserts though! We had the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate orange profiteroles, both amazing!
Jade H — Google review
We took some friends from abroad for a dinner at the Old Thatch with our dogs. The location is beautiful, very cosy pub, dogs are welcome and we had a nice table in the corner for more comfort and peace. The food was really good, our friends were impressed about the burgers and the pies. Fish and chips was also fantastic. Prices as average pubs in the area. My only note would be on the service: I rarely met such a blunt and little welcoming waitress. Staff in Mc Donald's or Starbucks are far more smiley, nicer and kinder with their customers. Definitely something that could use some improvement.
Valentina V — Google review
Glad I went here. Great friendly staff and nothing an issue. The FOOD omg had the Beef roast with my other half having the Lamb was amazing. Portions are perfect size not too big or too small. Cooked to perfection. Will be using again and highly recommended that you try.
Chris H — Google review
Come here regularly but today has been shocking! Literally ignored by staff. Managed to just about get one drink with our food but the service was none existent! Girls seemed more interested with gossiping with each other. Asked for dessert menu and we’re just left empty glasses and wandering what was happening!! A good 20 minutes before anyone bothered to come over. It’s was super quiet as well so seemed like no one was happy staff wise! Not a good look for such an award winning place. Definitely not paying the automatically added service charge!! Very let down today!

Amazing pub restaurant. Food is top quality and beautifully presented. Great service and ambience. Good choice of food for all dietary needs and dogs are allowed in the restaurant. We'll definitely be visiting again. 10/10

Popped in for a late Sunday lunch. A limited selection of food is on offer. We chose the beef, pork, and vegetarian mushroom options. Food arrived quickly, and the portion size was good. Importantly, this pub is dog-friendly. Wheelchair access is via a side gate. Good accessible toilets. Very friendly and helpful staff. Their regular menu has a wide choice. Would recommend

A quaint and cozy ale pub with a variety of ales & ciders on tap, great food and great atmosphere. Tucked away from the busy main roads, this traditional pub is a must on your list when visiting the King’s Coast of southern England in Bournemouth.

Ive recently moved to the area so have tried a few different pubs for sunday lunch. As they say ive tried the rest so try the Best. This little Gem certainly is. Immediately upon arrival i was greeted with a freindly smile / service ! The first since i arrived in the area..the pub was VERY busy alerting me that this is a good place. Having not booked for sunday lunch the staff went out of their way to accommodate me and find me a table. I had a superb sunday Roast with cauliflower cheese and a cool bottle of white wine. I Reccomend ALL of the above. Kind relaxed friendly atmosphere with excellent service / Beverages/ and food. My absolute new place to be.

Located less than half a mile from the heart of Dorchester, The Sun Inn is a charming 17th-century pub with a cozy atmosphere. We visited on a Sunday around 12pm with family for the carvery. We booked in advance and definitely suggest to do this as it’s very popular. The service is excellent, with the servers checking in throughout. The carvery is of course the go to, but there are other options on the menu to choose from. The carvery has a great selection of meat and plenty of vegetables to help yourself to. For vegetarians you can have a veg only or there is a nut roast which I ordered, which was delicious and would recommend. Everyone enjoyed their carvery, all cooked to perfection and was a great Sunday treat, will be returning again.
Amy L — Google review
A great little find. We sat in the beer garden and enjoyed a great lunch that only took about 10 mins to arrive after ordering and was delicious. The staff were very friendly despite being very busy and very happy to help. The plates were cleared promptly , and the lady chatted to us about the area. The desserts were scrumptious and delivered quickly with a smile and looked fantastic and tasted it. Lots of parking, great beers and some nice zero alcohol options.

You know when you go to a good pub with good grub 1) you have to book a table with a least a week's notice, especially if you like a Sunday Roast 2) The local whispers tell you it's good 👍 3) Carpark is always full when you drive past!! Great Sunday roast, meats were tasty and just right💪,roasties were sublime👍,cheese and leek in sauce was scrummie....💥oh and good beer and amazing atmosphere and friendly staff as well❤️

Great pub, plenty of parking, food was good, service okay but very busy on the day we went. Dog friendly which is nice and a lovely garden area with climbing frame for the kids. Will be back.
Ashley M — Google review
What a brilliant find! Lovely atmosphere, the food was absolutely delicious and our waitress was very friendly and efficient. We were on holiday in the area and found this pub on a Google search. So pleased we did! Meals served all day and carvery starts again at 6. Not sure what time the carvery is open during the day. We couldn't fault this pub for good food, reasonably priced with a great atmosphere. Totally 5 stars!

The Sun Inn was one of the places that we've been saying we must visit since moving here a year ago, but life happens and it kept getting delayed, finally visited and all I can say is.... Wished we had visited far sooner. We came for the carvery and it was absolutely delicious. the meats and vegetables were cooked to perfection, the service was awesome, friendly yet professional and nothing seemed like an issue. If your any where near the Sun Inn, this is the place to be for a good meal, and definitely worth a drive if your not.
Tim D — Google review
We drove through Dorchester on our way to Devon and needed somewhere to stop for lunch, so glad we found the sun inn! Lovely food, friendly staff, great service and a cute little play area in the garden where our 2 year old could run and stretch his legs. The perfect little rest stop :)
Nikki S — Google review
We visited for a carvery after reading the glowing reviews, but our experience couldn’t have been further from what was promised. From the start, service was non-existent – we had to ask for someone to even take our order. When we went up for the carvery, there was no one to serve, and after an awkward five-minute wait, a man eventually appeared to carve the meat. To make matters worse, we weren’t even allowed to decide where or how much gravy we wanted – it was poured straight onto the meat, leaving the vegetables completely dry. The food itself was nothing short of dreadful: stale Yorkshire puddings, raw potatoes, and “cheesy leeks” bizarrely bulked out with peas. We hardly ate any of it and quickly asked for the bill, only to be ignored not once, but twice. In the end, we had to walk up to the bar ourselves. At no point did any member of staff check on us, ask if the food was okay, or show even the slightest interest in customer service. Almost £50 for a meal like that feels like daylight robbery. Terrible food, poor service, and an experience we won’t be repeating.

Some of the best food ever! The owners are genius at what they do. Had some of the best food ever- baked Camembert, pate to die for, an I can’t even give justice to the cheese and dessert. We all loved it!!!

Me and my girlfriend came here Thursday for Dinner and we opted for the Ploughman’s board and the Cheesecake of the day. Martyn’s service was phenomenal and the food from Tom (chef) was superb🙌🏻. Will be coming back here again
Connor W — Google review
We have a tradition of going out for a family meal on the first Sunday of the month and decided that a return visit to the Rope & Anchor was in order. It's a Wadworth pub so a good selection of real ales available and the cellarman is doing a great job. The food is very much standard pub choices plus Sunday roasts and a few specials. Excellent value for money, well cooked, crackling cruncy and good yorkshire. I did find the cauliflower cheese a bit disappointing. The cauliflower was well cooked, suitably aldente, but the cheese sauce lt it down, a bit waterery which saw it pooling at the bottom of the dish, rather than coating the cauliflower. Conversely the Dorset Cheese Board at theend of the meal was a real highlight, rich in flavours and with a really good chutney. Atmosphere waqs relaxed, staff attentive, good value.

Very nice pub! The waiter was super friendly and helpful. The burgers were exceptional and the fries very crispy and delicious. The price was also good! They did have a little service charge, but told us about it when we wanted to leave a tip.

Good service in a traditional pub, unfortunately the fish in batter was really not good.

Came here for the first time for the Sunday roast dinner and all 3 of us are presently surprised at how good the food was; the portions are generous, even the meat, and everything tasted really good and fresh. The left overs from nan's roast (as stayed, very generous) was wrapped really well to take home. This is one of the only places my Notoriously fussy Nan has actually liked! The staff are friendly and the place is clean, stylish with a shipshape feel to it. Booking is recommended.

We popped in on the off chance of a place being available. We were offered a bar table. The gent who advised us (wearing a Hawaiian style top) was polite, professional and an asset to the company. We had to do self-service and order at the bar. The young bar man that served us was polite, professional and funny and made us feel welcomed. The food was good as! usual. Whilst eating our food we could hear the 'front of house' man doing his thing with waiting customers. His bedside manor is excellent and made all feel valued and important.

We came to eat as a rather large group ( 24) For our annual slimming world Christmas lunch. The staff were amazing. The gentleman who orginal took our booking was very helpful and happily added a couple more people on. The lady who took our order and served our food was brilliant even with people changing their mind from the two course to the three course lunch!! And then smiling even when another two people wanted to order starters! We had a really fantastic meal. All food served at the same time. Not too long await at the carvery. Vegetarian food was well received, and the desserts looked pretty yummy! Great atmosphere and a lovely time was had by us all. I was volunteered to book the meal this year but with the fantastic organisation of the restaurant staff I feel happy to take on the role next year. That said, i will be in before then,as a family we love to eat at the toby Northbourne 😋

A mix-up over table size( my mistake) on a very busy night, was quickly and very politely dealt with by the manager, and our server, Martin was very friendly. Queues for food were very long and food only just warm. The meats were well_cooked but vegetables were uninspiring, either very hard or claggy. It was a Christmas outing, so probably queues may not usually be that long.
Ange T — Google review
This is nowhere near as good as the Cooper Dean one. We walked up to the bar, and the manager saw us but walked away. When I said aloud that we are being ignored, someone else came to help us. We were then told that the manager was actually the one who needed to help us. We had to stand & wait till he came back to assist us. There is a sign stating to check in at the bar. We did that. We were told to wait at the other counter. We've never had a good experience yet. It's always been an issue. One waiter had to serve the whole restaurant, he was very good, but we had to wait a while to pay. We would definitely rather go to Cooper Dean. The only issue we had there was not knowing we had to register our vehicle & received a fine. I contested & didn't have to pay in the end. They now have a sign at the entrance to warn you, so no one should get caught out now.

Guests have particularly enjoyed the chicken Caesar croquettes as starters and delicious roast options for mains.
Definitely the best roast I've had at a restaurant. The meat was excellently cooked and everything was flavourful, particularly the gravy. The stuffing was lovely as were the Yorkshire puddings. The carrots and parsnips were slightly firm and the potatoes had harder outsides than I would like, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the roast and would recommend it. The starters were lovely, the scallops were cooked excellently and the garlic butter was tasty. Prices were reasonable given the quality and portion sizes. Service was friendly. A couple of improvements could be made- we waited a while for our mains, and one of our party was initially left without carrots, parsnips and stuffing on his plate (not sure what happened there), however they promptly rectified that once we let them know. The interior decoration and presentation was nice. I will definitely come here again.

This was just a lovely, positive evening. The staff are the perfect balance of friendly and attentive whilst giving you appropriate space. The food was delicious. We cannot recommend this gem of a restaurant enough and will return. It’s a super place to celebrate special occasions.

What a great little find! We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Pickled Berry in Poole and couldn’t have been more impressed. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavour – a real treat. Kirsty, the owner, was absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome. She was warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about what she does, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The highlight? Without a doubt, the crème brûlée – genuinely out of this world! Perfectly crisp on top and smooth, creamy indulgence underneath. One of the best I’ve ever had. We’re already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend for anyone in the area looking for a cosy spot with top-notch food and service.

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Every dish I had was full of flavour. Would recommend the trio of pork and crème brûlée. Atmosphere was intimate and relax. And the service was amazing. Reuben and the team were accommodating, made you feel at home with out feeling rushed. Wish I can bring this back to Essex with us

The Food was very good and beautifully presented. The price was okay, maybe a little high. The outside tables and chairs werent too comfortable, also cause the floor wasnt levelled. Our highlight was the cheeseplatter!

The Royal Oak, located on the A354, is a charming country pub that has received the Travellers Choice 2021 award. With a solid rating from 418 reviews, it's known for its fantastic carvery offering delicious gammon and beef with all the trimmings, as well as a good selection of vegetarian food. The staff is highly organized and attentive, making for an enjoyable dining experience.
The strong reviews shaped my decision to try this place for lunch - the experience did not disappoint. It's a genuinely great place for a traditional Sunday roast. A kid friendly atmosphere in a characterful pub with warm / friendly staff serving great food. It made the experience even more enjoyable. The Sunday dinner is fantastic value for money, with very generous helpings, cooked and prepared to a high standard. I had the beef which was succulent and tender, the jumbo Yorkshire pudding was a tasty challenge but everything was spot on. The pigs in blankets were lovely too but I really struggled to eat them after filling up with my main (something I normally wouldn't struggle with but there was so much food). When I arrived at 2pm the pub was full and I was offered the chance to use a standing table but declined, said thank you and left. I nearly drove away but the manager ran after me and said she would make room for me in the corner of the dining area. She was so warm and lovely - it's easy to tell that she's a natural dealing with customers in a friendly way. I'm glad they made room for me. I will definitely come here again.

The pubs staff were friendly and funny, not just robots and also not too cheeky it becomes weird. The portions were the size youd give yourself at a buffet. The price was fine. And the menu had a decent selection. I had the pie and it almost had more stake than my girlfriends ribeye. Highly recommend.

Popped in the royal oak on a short 2 day break to dorset We saw the google reviews were pretty good so we headed to the royal oak for lunch What a good choice as the food was absolutely lovely I had fillet steak with peppercorn sauce and my mrs had a jacket potato. The steak was cooked to perfection and very tender also the portion size was very generous on both meals, for dessert we both went for the home made Dorset apple cake with custard ( a pub favourite as the menu stated)this was a delicious light sponge with apple and a light sugary cinnamon top which was a delight. The very friendly barmaid made the experience even better so try the Royal Oak you won't be disappointed . Also check out the amazing wildlife drawings that are for sale hung around the walls

I have driven past this pub on more occasions than I could probably mention and always said must try that one. Well today was the day and so pleased that I did! I can honestly say this was one of the best (if not the best) pub food I have ever had. Our table of four all had different dishes and every single one was outstanding quality with a generous portion. Personally I opted for the ploughman's asking for it without the meat element which wasn't a problem at all. An excellent selection, fresh and tasty. I would highly recommend booking, even for lunch, as it was busy, and it's really not surprising why. The service was friendly and a good pub atmosphere made it a great experience and all at a fair price too. This will most definitely not be the last visit to this highly recommended Dorset pub. If you haven't been then add it to your 'must visit' list, but don't leave it as long as I did.

Our family lunch at The Royal Oak in Milbourne was an absolute delight! Finding the pub was easy, and our pre-booked table ensured a smooth start to our experience. Although parking was a bit snug due to its popularity, that's to be expected. Once inside, we were promptly seated and served by the attentive staff. The menu had a great variety, and I opted for the lamb shank, which was cooked to perfection. Others in our party tried the carvery with beef, turkey, and gammon options, and they were thoroughly impressed. The staff catered excellently to our fussy children, allowing them to customize their meals. We truly felt at ease and not rushed at all. I highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience, and we will surely be returning in the future!

First time in the 'Oak' for many years (last time to play skittles about 40 years ago). Buffet excellent and the service was probably the best I have experienced in a long while.....attentive, informed and polite....and nothing was too much trouble . The reason for '3' starts for atmosphere, is that as a 'Grumpy Old man' of a certain age, and therefore with very dodgy hearing, the noise created by other guests on adjacent tables was almost off the scale, and made it difficult (if at times not impossible) to hear what my friends were talking about. Must add however, that this will not stop me visiting again....mid-week perhaps ??

After reading good reviews and seeing the lovely photos on Google, we decided to visit The Royal Oak for lunch in the garden. The food was fantastic, I really enjoyed the blue cheese and bacon baguette. Will will visit again and recommend to others. Reasonably priced and welcoming staff and we didn’t have to wait long for our lunch. Lovely garden out the back which was well kept and car park.

Hive Beach Cafe in Burton Bradstock is a laid-back spot right on the beach, offering a range of cafe classics, local seafood, and wine. The cafe was established through friendship and family ties, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. Nestled along the Jurassic Coast, it provides an unforgettable dining experience with its proximity to the sea and impressive seafood dishes.
Stopped off here for impromptu lunch today after enjoying that scenic drive with views of Chesil Beach. Friendly welcome, great service. Food good - we had a hake and chips and the salt n pepper squid. A very cold beer and a glass of lovely rose washed it all down a treat. Fantastic views and casual dining. We’ll return with friends and perhaps I’ll get lucky and be a passenger not a driver next time! I’ll be having two big glasses of that rose 😁

Came for a joint birthday dinner for my mum and husband, the wine was nice and the hive lager really tasty! We got a mix of dishes including some specials, had a slight issue with my dish but they were very receptive and polite and sorted it out right away! Brilliant service and all the dishes were delicious. Atmosphere is really nice by the sea, would be nice if the ‘window’ panels on the tent were less cloudy to be able to see the sea when the tent is down but is a small point. Quaint with simple seating but food and service are the star

Stunning views and delicious fresh food. Service was fast and friendly despite our dithering over what to have. We had the seafood platter and the kitchen were kind enough to swap out the cold Lobster and prawns to the hot version (highly recommended if you like garlic sauce). The food is also great value for money. You get a satisfying portion size. We also had a crab sandwich which came with salad and vegetable crisps which was also fresh and tasty.

Visited this Cafe today after coming a cross it whilst walking Our Dog! Was quite busy but got a table straight away, table was off to the side which suited us as Our Dog Kiwi is a little nervous. Water Bowls are dotted around the Patio just for the Dogs! We ordered a Crab Sandwich with coleslaw and a deep fried Squid in a lime sauce with side salad, both were delicious, so much Crab Meat in the Sandwich and lots of deep fried squid! Definately recommend this Place, can imagine it is busy in High season! Reasonably priced for what We got!

I really loved my first impromptu visit here 7 years ago. We decided to re-visit for my birthday as a family meal. From what I recall at our original visit, things have changed and expanded a bit since Covid etc and it’s good to see there are takeaway options and an outside terrace option. We spent over £300 on a meal for 2 adults and 2 teenage children which included drinks and desserts. I did feel this was excessive even though we ordered some amazing seafood dishes. If I could improve the experience it would be to have more options on the dinner menu as there weren’t that many and it seemed all were very pricey. I think a lot more attention is needed to address allergies and food intolerances and staff training needs to be more robust here. I have an intolerance to some fruits due to an inflamed bladder lining so I explained to the waitress I can’t do lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange. I also said I am sick if I eat mussels but I’m good with all other seafood and all other fruit. She told me they don’t serve mussels in their dishes. Later, they double checked if the single raspberry placed in my cocktail was ok. It was. However, they didn’t pay any attention or give any warning to the large wedges of lemon served on a seafood platter we’d ordered and I was quite shocked to also find mussels among the platter. I didn’t bother saying anything at the time as I just avoided the areas near the lemon wedges and my husband ate the mussels and I chose other parts of the platter. My intolerances are not that serious and I do it to avoid pain and any sickness. However, some people have serious adversities and I was just surprised this happened. I think I expect somewhere that charges over £300 for dinner to look after me for 100% of the experience. If I had brought this up I think it might have spoiled my birthday dinner out but how would they have backtracked from doing this if I had? Overall, it was a lovely meal and we enjoyed the atmosphere and experience thoroughly.

We had a fantastic breakfast here on the last day of our trip to Dorset. Our Airbnb host had recommended and we weren’t disappointed. It was a blustery cloudy day so we sat inside, we arrived 20 mins before breakfast stopped serving but ourselves and our 2 dogs were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. Not knowing what would be available we ordered our breakfast and it was delicious. My only complaint is the lack of an alternative to butter for my toast. I have a severe allergy to dairy but was told by the waiting staff that they have no alternative. A bit backward in this day and age. Next time I’ll bring my own!

We had an excellent dinner this evening. We wanted to sit outside and there was a wait for an outside table. While we were waiting we had a drink in the cliff top garden, drinks only up there, amazing view of the beach and sunset. Our table was ready down below for dinner very quickly. Fantastic fish specials on the menu. The food was excellent as was the service. Perfect location and dining experience. We’ll be back.

Stopped for lunch after a brisk beach walk and before tackling a stretch of the South Coast Walk. Very friendly service ! Food choice was great. Glad I didn’t opt for the ploughman’s as it was large and I would have needed to walk even further to burn the calories, but boy, did it look good. Highly recommended and serves a great pint of still cider.

We ordered an evening meal to take away. The staff were brilliant in catering for the dietary requirements for one of us. Checking ingredients with the kitchen and the kitchen fresh-cooked a dish to meet our needs. Food was excellent and the view of the coast while we had a drink waiting for the order was fantastic.

We only had lunch and it was fantastic. We had the catch of the day, Hake roasted with fennel and capers on a bed of samphir. And the roasted sea bass on mashed potatoes was very nice. Great front table overlooking the sea and the rock beach that sings like a rain stick as the tide ebbs and flows.

Bit of a late review as 4 of us had a fantastic lunch back on September 19th. The food and service is excellent. Special thanks to Mia & Jess who looked after us. A must visit on the coastal path.

We were hiking on the South West Coast path and it was pouring with rain and windy. Unfortunately, we arrived half an hour too early for lunch, which we didn't know. A member of staff rudely turned us away, telling us the pub was closed. He could have invited us inside for warmth and shelter for a while, it wouldn't have cost them anything! I emailed the manager about the incident, but never received a response. I guess customer satisfaction doesn't rate high on their radar.
Michele L — Google review
We ate here last week with my parents in law and the food was good, if a little pricey. Despite the Australian waitress we had being outstanding I found the rest of the staff rather offhand and got the distinct impression they expected all their customers to be tourists who they would never see again and therefore didn’t need to make too much effort with. The Anchor is a historical pub with fantastic views over the beach and sea, but we won’t be returning again for more than a drink.
Steve O — Google review
Really excellent food, and particularly creative vegetarian options too, which is so rare to find. The only down side is their car park only has space for ~8 cars, and if you can’t find a space you have to pay £8 (!) to park in the beach car park … although at least this gives you a £2 credit to use in the pub or pizza van. Still glad to have come, and would have had to have paid the parking fee anyway as we wanted to go for a coastal walk from here.

Amazing seafood and steak at the Guildhall Tavern tonight. We’ve been coming for years and it’s one of the best restaurants in Bournemouth/Poole in our opinion. Ingredients are always fresh, great taste, wonderful service, welcoming ambience with nice decor. We will be back again soon!

What a delightful evening. We were searching for a place for a special celebration and the reviews looked great so we booked a table. The food was DELICIOUS and the service from Dom and Apple was also delightful. I had the days Special - which was Massamon curry with huge pieces of meaty fish and an amazing sauce which was like lobster bisque meets Thailand - absolutely fabulous. My husband had the platter with catch of the day - also stunning. We even squeezed in a chocolate fondant to round it all off! I only wish we had found it sooner!!

Simply the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in Poole and the best Sunday Roast I’ve had in 10 years. The staff were superb, the Chefs are artists as far as I’m concerned and I had a great pleasure talking to Alan who’s the owner who was eating at the table next to me and chatting to guests and the pride in his restaurant and love for his staff and customers was so apparent. I’ve never felt so welcomed, looked after and enjoyed a leisurely Sunday meal like it

We live a few miles from this establishment and are always looking for a really good local place to eat frequently. The staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was really nice. We had our starters and they were tasty and well presented. We thought we had found our "Food Nirvana" However the main courses arrived and we were left wanting 😩 The filet steak decidedly average. The chips were cold/luke warm. The Macaroni cheese side, dry and tasteless. 😩 I didn't partake in dessert but my wife had the "trio of desserts" They were very nicely presented and very tasty too 😁👍After dinner coffee's were also good. I wouldn't say no to a second visit but I doubt we have found our culinary promised land.

Lovely food, lovely staff, lovely vibe. We came for the Valentines 3 Course Menu and the value for money was really good I’d say. Originally we had a lovely attentive member of staff with long blonde hair (I think she was called Jess) and can’t fault her. The only let down was later in the evening, there was another waitress who was loudly telling everyone around us her life story and showing pics on her phone. There were people waiting to order on other tables whilst she was telling long stories and even saying to other tables “hang on whilst I finish my story on this other table”. When our payment was ready to be taken she told my partner to add things up on his phone because she wasn’t sure on the prices on the bill which is fair enough but I felt could’ve been handled better. Soured the experience ever so slightly but good visit overall.

Had Sunday lunch @the Cliff even though we were a little late for our reservation, and they were very busy, we were taken to our table, and the young lady asked if we had any allergies. Our waitress was Amy lwho looked after us, taking our drinks and food order with a smile. We ordered the Slow cooked Pork belly which was delicious, only criticism would be the roast potatoes were soft and not crispy, but probably not the best season for good roasties.

Who doesn't love a Sunday Roast in a beautiful country pub 😀 The Bakers Arms has had a recent refurbishment and WOW, it's stunning ! We had a Roast and Pie options - food was exceptional, unlimited gravy for roasts 👌 and it was great gravy! Lovely outdoor seating and plenty of it. We had great weather, it was just beautiful. Now this may be controversial - ** I don't advocate drink driving by any stretch ** I wasn't driving my sister was , it was a warm afternoon so she decided on one shandy with her dinner. She asked the barman what was the lowest alcohol options so she could have a shandy , she mentioned she was driving (you have to drive to the location, it's in the middle of nowhere ) The barman refused to serve her ! Which is fine that's his perogative as a responsible seller of alcohol. It was the way he presented himself, almost telling her off for her choice of drink. He didn't offer her any alcohol free options. So she settled on a soft drink, and it wasn't a big deal . It just felt very judgmental. Looking around the car park was packed, and there was plenty of wine on most tables ! My point is don't judge people, we are responsible drivers . If the drink drive policy was ZERO tolerance then I'd expect it ! Just put a sour taste on the experience 😔

The pub itself is spacious, yet its thoughtful layout makes you feel like you're in your own little corner, creating a truly special experience. And they also had a soft refurbishment. What really stood out, though, was the warmth, friendliness, and professionalism of the staff. Hats off to the management for clearly making great service a top priority. I came in yesterday with my family and was greeted by Ellie who took us to the table, told us the soup and pie of the day and let us know about the weekend treat menu. Ellie took our drinks order and then our waitress chrissie did a great job taking our food order and looking after us during our visit. The team looked like they all enjoyed working their as it was a busy Friday night. The two young men on the bar were very busy and making cocktails all evening. I thought why not as it’s a Friday night I’d treat myself to a few strawberry daiquiri’s. Food was brilliant so well done to all the team during our visit. Will be returning very soon.

Didn’t stay there. After reading website description (naive) - Booked a table well in advance but did feel a little nervous after reading no need to book. Checked weather forecast and requested table outside. Arrived and they said they had reserved a table inside but no reservation with my name on it to be seen. Asked to go outside. View from outside seating stunning. Positives end there. Service poor, mains brought out before the starters so had to send them back. Had the prawns to start and they were overcooked and virtually cold. Ham eggs and chips next which took ages to arrive - not homemade chips unfortunately albeit chunky, fried eggs fine and sitting on top of underwhelming ham. Tried to order wine of choice and told sorry only ones available on the board not the menu given to us. Then suddenly found a bottle as requested in the fridge after some persistence. Suddenly a change of staff serving our table and she was lovely and did her very best to rescue the situation and offered free drinks and a sincere apology for our poor experience - much appreciated but didn’t change the fact that the meals were underwhelming, overpriced and poorly served. It was as though the owners were out and the place was left in the hands of young and poorly trained staff, with one exception and she was rushed off her feet with trying to recover the situations. Recommend going for a drink to soak up the views but leave it there sorry.

At last there has been a big makeover at this wonderfully located pub. 15 years ago it was great but gradually it became terrible: food became distinctly average and the choice of ale poor and service terrible. Plus sitting outside meant there was a 50% chance of finding a broken seat. But finally there has been some investment! The new terrace and tables and chairs are excellent and the food has improved considerably with quality ingredients. Combined with Jurrasic beers now back and a good level of young staffing this pub is now back on my list to visit regularly

We have been to the scott arms a few times and always sat in the garden. The food off the main menu is delicious and very generous portions. The BBQ food in the garden is just as delicious. The views are unreal, definitely my favourite pub garden near to the coast.

18th century pub in a great location. Can be reached via bus, or very nice walks from either Corfe or Swanage. Stunning views across the valley over to Corfe. Great on a nice sunny day. Good selection of well kept real ales, very nice food with generous portions.

Simon the owner was v.personable and interesting. We came back the following night and had the best minute steak ever. Both Kate and Geoff went out of their ways to make us welcome and were so helpful and warm. All too easy to leave negative reviews so this is the opposite. Will recommend and return, next time to stay over.

Dropped in for a drink while hiking and found it to be a really pleasant stop. The pub has a warm and welcoming feel, with friendly service and lovely views across the countryside. It was the perfect place to rest our legs and enjoy a drink, even though we only had time for a short visit. Definitely a spot worth pausing at if you’re passing by on a walk.

One of those places I really would love to give more stars but it was just a bit of a let down. We've driven past many times when on holiday in the area and always wanted to pop in for a drink on a nice sunny day. The good side is the view from the garden is absolutely stunning, rolling Dorset countryside with Corfe Castle in the middle, the building is attractive and feels like a rustic countryside pub, however inside looks a bit neglected. The real issue - the staff are friendly but just seem a bit clueless, or don't care! A small example, the young girl that served our drinks poured the drink to the very top before adding ice, obviously it spilt over the top, rather than attempt to sort it before giving it to the customer she picked sit up and let it spill all over the floor as she passed it to us, then filled the next two ( on the bar this time) to the very top again too so we couldn't pick them up without them spilling! The guy that served us later was similarly a bit redundant. Looking interested in your customers and taking the time to learn how to do something as simple as pour a drink would go a long way.

The Castle Inn is a charming 16th-century traditional pub that has been family-run for over 30 years. Located at the heart of Colchester, it offers a cozy environment with exposed beams and open fires. The pub is conveniently situated near the remains of Colchester Castle, an imposing structure set in attractive parkland by the River Colne. The castle features a museum with an excellent collection of Romano-British archaeological finds.
I found this pub as I was looking for the number 40 bus stop back to Poole from Corfe Castle. I had a 35 minute wait until I stopped in for a cup of tea and could not believe my luck. This place is as old as the rest of the village and authentic top to bottom. The tea was delicious and they served it in a sweet little ceramic pot. The staff was funny and so were the locals hanging out and chatting. One offered to take this picture of me as I roamed around like an obnoxious American taking pictures of the fireplaces and the beams and the floors and the furniture and the picnic tables out back. What a gem! They're about 1/4 mile out of the main village, but more than worth it.

Lovely pub, perfect place to stop for lunch on our way home from Studland. Varied menu with lots of choice, staff were really friendly too. Dog friendly with a big garden.
Zoe E — Google review
Ate here with friends and their dog so I can verify it's a dog friendly pub. You can't book a table in advance but there's a place to sit and wait, once you're on the waiting list, and I must admit the food smells coming from the kitchen were amazing while we waited. There aren't many tables inside and all were full when we got there, for good reason though. All the food was cooked fresh to order and when the Specials ran out, they ran out! I had a lovely steak, cooked to order (rare). The chicken curry got rave reviews around the table and the burger was enjoyed too. All well cooked. There were plenty of options for those with food intolerances and a good selection of gluten free choices. They had a code legend on their Specials board, which I thought was a brilliant idea. It's one of the few places in Corfe that has parking on the premises. I didn't see any disabled places, but I was able to park close enough so it wasn't a big deal. Inside is quite tight for space but it does have a step free entrance. It's small however, so although I'd suggest you leave a mobility scooter outside, a wheelchair would be ok for an experienced user. I'll happily eat here again.

Dropped in at 12.15 on off the chance of Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday! They had no bookings. There was only one table of 8 diners. Within the hour it was packed. My wife had chicken I had the roast beef, both really good portions and good quality. Good beer choice. Wonderful old pub. Good car park.

We loved it! Helpful staff, extremely kid friendly and a gloriously beautiful ceiling. Had an excellent steak pie and kiddo had pasta with the sauce in a little gravy boat so she had control over how it was mixed up, which suited her down to the ground. Lovely puddings.

Cannot actually rate the food. The atmosphere was so bad we left before ordering. Pub looks lovely when you walk in the main entrance, but then find the dilapidated and unloved back area of the pub which look in complete disrepair. The unsafe childrens play area. Area of random plastic kids toys all over the floor. The lady behind the bar looking like she was just done with life. No smiles or welcome. Just misery. No wonder the pub and gardens were empty

Amazing pub. Service was friendly and great including beer tasters to decide which I wanted. I had one of their local brews and roast chicken dinner. The food came out quickly and was excellent. Tender chicken with two pieces, a breast with wing and a leg. Roast potatoes, carrot and parsnip and a Yorkshire pudding accompanied the meat. Totally enjoyed it. You can pay up front or have a tab. Pub was fairly quiet but enough people to be lively at 8pm on a Sunday night. Server Callum was great, thanks!

Service was pleasant and timely. Toilets wreaked of urine. Dining area was cold. Door to garden area open wide at 7pm on a cool night. Drinks were good. Food was poor. 4/10, 6/10 and 6½/10 for main dishes. I went home after & got myself some food that I enjoyed. What's the point of going out to a place like this if you can do considerably better at home? Parking is on street or public car park. Either way it costs £2.50 for 2 hours at a machine or £2.70 via Ringo! Add that on your bill.

Super friendly service from Hannah which made up for the lack of availability of food on the menu. She handled it really well and luckily we were able to make alternative choices. Most of what we chose was great, although the pulled shiitake mushrooms weren’t to our taste! Can highly recommend the Mac n cheese. Wide range of drinks available and the place has a good vibe, loved the decor.

We booked a table for a meal on Valentine's day. On arrival we were greeted promptly and as it was very quiet (only a handful of diners) we could choose the table. We received very good service from our waiter. Food arrived within 15 min of ordering. Like with any food it's down to personal preference and taste so here's our opinion on our dishes... My partner had a beef shin which he didn't actually enjoy much. The meat was tender, he just didn't like the sauce. We both agreed it reminded us of the tinned meat meals we took camping when we were younger. The veg is described as "maple roast carrots and roast mushrooms" but they tasted and looked like they were steamed or boiled. I had a duck, which was really, tender, moist and tasty. I didn't use the gravy served as I didn't like it (a bit bland for my liking). The dish was moist enough so I didn't miss it. I would prefer the duck to have crispy skin but I understand it's a bit of a challenge when slow cooking it. Both our desserts, sticky toffee and apple pie were exceptional.

Small country pub, in a lovely village setting. Booked a table online, service was quick and efficient on a Sunday early evening. Roast dinner has plenty of beef but the vegetables looked like they had been left under a heat lamp for an hour. Also gravy looked like it wasn’t meant for a beef dish. Ended meal with nice dessert. Good local Badger beer served.

The Thimble Inn is an enchanting eighteenth-century pub located in the picturesque village of Piddlehinton, Dorchester. With its thatched roof and beautiful garden, it offers great service and a menu featuring both traditional pub fare and more ambitious dishes. The inn's popularity is evident from the need to book early, especially for Sunday lunch. As part of Palmers Brewery, it serves a wide range of their cask ales brewed in West Dorset.
This is one of the best pubs/restaurants I've ever been too. The building itself is full of character with a cosy vibe but still quite spacious. The location is beautiful with a lovely stream flowing next to it and a lovely outside space. The service we received was excellent with friendly, attentive staff and hardly any waiting time for the food. The food itself was absolutely delicious and of fantastic quality. We couldn't fault anything with our meals or our overall experience, I would highly recommend coming here and we will definitely become regulars.

Great pub, amazing food and superb service. We had a great dinner, the lamb chops and ham, egg and chips. Both were delicious, and big portions. The pineapple chutney with the ham was a great burst of flavour - I’d eat a tub of that alone it was so good. Service was really kind and attentive. There was a beautiful friendly big dog at the bar when we arrived so I assume it’s also dog-friendly 🐶

Second visit for Sunday lunch following on from last year. The best Sunday lunch I've ever had, great choice selection and fabulous taste. Very popular so book in advance, you won't be disappointed. Had the beef and lamb combination, plenty of meat on the plate with a great selection of vegetables to compliment, no sparing on the gravy either. Had the strawberry sponge and custard for dessert. Highly recommended

We came to have dinner here after there not being any room at our local pub nearby our holiday stay - and we’re so glad we did because it was one of the best pub meals we’ve had. A few weeks ago, we went to The Hinds Head in Bray - a Michelin starred pub with similar pub classics, and Thimble Inn was at a much higher standard. I would go back for the gravy alone! We had an amazing Golden Wedding Anniversary for my in laws this Saturday just gone. The team couldn't have done more. From organising from the beginning, to the day itself. The food was impressive, lots of vegan/gf and veggie options which was very important. Such a varied menu and all absolutely delicious. Some real foodies to impress in the party, and they were suitably impressed. The front of house team had it nailed with regular checks, food all arriving together, drinks never empty before someone spotted. Kind, smiley and confident waiting staff who had the whole party at ease and able to enjoy the day. My mum and dad in law had the best day and we are all very grateful for doing what this team obviously do best. It was brilliant and I will be telling everyone. A new find and we are very impressed. What an utterly fabulous place. Thank you Team Thimble.

Wow! What a find! We stumbled across this restaurant when trying to find Tyneham village. It looked really busy from the outside, so we tried our luck to get a table. The staff were really lovely, welcoming and warm, got us a table and even produced a separate vegan menu on request! ⭐️⭐️ The starters were so appealing we shared three between us and the mains were cooked to perfection! We were full to the brim, but still managed to squeeze in a sticky toffee pudding. Overvall, very very impressed with the range of options, the quality of the food and the fantastic staff. We will definitely be back!

Fast, efficient, friendly service and very generous portions. There is plenty of seating and being exceptionally warm for the last day of April, we sat outside underneath a beautiful blossom tree. I had the daily special: turkey, brie, and cranberry sandwich on granary bread, which came with chips and cole slaw. My wife had avocado and tomato bruschetta. We both had fruit juice to drink. The bill came to £40, including a 10% service charge, which we could gave asked them to remove.

After a day of visiting The Etches Collection Museum, walking round the coast and Kimmeridge Bay, this was the perfect place to stop before heading to the car. We were greeted so warmly, all the staff are super friendly and couldn’t have done more to be welcoming and accommodating. There was a wide choice of specials available to choose from but we decided to treat ourselves to the Clavells Seafood Platter, a portion of Gourmet Chips on the side and the Dorset Breakin’ Wave Lager. The platter came with dressed crab, fresh grilled mackerel, smoked salmon, whitebait, half a pint of prawns, mixed salad, lemon mayo, sweet chilli, Marie Rose, bread and butter - the portion was really big considering the price, great value, the pile of smoked salmon was incredible, everything tasted so fresh and wonderful and the grilled mackerel was the best my husband and I have ever had! The chips were crisp and fluffy, the condiments packing a punch and the lager light and refreshing to wash it all down… the desserts sounded great but we were so full we didn’t order any, next time! We would definitely recommended this restaurant if you’re in the area, it’s a beautiful building situated in a great location. The couple of things I would mention are, the tables could be cleaned a bit more thoroughly as ours was a little sticky, serviettes are part of the cutlery packet so if you need more than 1 you would need to take it from the other packets, and that the team need to understand what draught is, when asking if they have anything on draught, you’re told no, but the Dorset Breakin’ Wave Lager, for example, IS draught (unless they pour the bottle in to a glass, which is unlikely). Very minor points to make it 5* rather than 4*.

This is just a lovely little place. The lady who runs it says she is there and open 365 days a year, including Christmas Day, and although in the past I have thought it was closed I was apparently mistaken. Don't be deceived if the snack shack next to the car park is all boarded up, the cafe should still be open! We were made very welcome from the moment we set foot inside, despite being motorcyclists, which sometimes gets a less than joyful greeting! Though there are many outdoor benches which looked lovely in the early spring sunshine, it was March when we visited and below 10°C so although sunny, we opted for indoor seating. The breakfast menu was uncomplicated but the pot of tea that arrived was enormous and plenty strong enough, and the food was perfect, one full English thay my mate said was spot on, and Eggs Florentine for me with a lovely Hollandaise sauce and both spinach and eggs cooked to absolute perfection. We were able to defrost our arms and legs next to a lovely warm radiator and although there isn't much of a view from the inside seats the place is nicely decorated and has a warm and cosy feel. I guess in summer you'll be outside looking at the picturesque thatched cottages lining the little village main street, and fighting off the inevitable wasps! Will definitely visit here again as a regular stop off on biking trips through to West Bay or Lyme, even though it's a little off the beaten track.

Poco Pizza is a beachside restaurant located in Lyme Regis, offering a cozy atmosphere and lovely sea views from its balcony. The restaurant is known for its delicious wood-fired pizzas, perfect for enjoying all year round. In addition to their pizza selection, they also offer starters such as garlic bread and sharing platters with Italian meats, olives, and sun-blushed tomatoes.
We've been wanting to try this venue for the last 3 visits to Lyme, so finally booked a table, wow what a view, totally seagull proof, lovely staff, dog friendly on the terrace only, so recommend booking if you want to take your furry friend Service amazing, very friendly, and welcoming staff, pizza oven located at the top of some quite steep stairs, so be warned, everything cooked fresh Still water brought to each table without having to ask, nice touch, large selection on menu including vegetarian options, we had the Margarita plus, and a Palma served as a Calzone, with a rocket and Parmesan shavings They were probably some of the best pizzas we have had in this country. Food came quickly and was hot, the only criticism we can offer, probably a management decision, a service charge is added to your bill, if you have received good food and service most Customers will leave a gratuity, you can ask for it to be removed but we were happy with experience, so just paid the bill , give them a try when in Lyme Regis but recommend booking

It's pretty good. We popped in for a pizza and a drink. The service was nice enough, and everything seemed to be run smoothly. The seating area overlooking the beach was nice. The pizza was pretty good. You'll love it if you like your pizza thin and crispy, I would have preferred it a little on the thicker side, but it was still nice. Plenty of toppings, and really nice flavours. The pepper grinder didn't work, but the chill oil was very nice.

A Delightful Afternoon at Poco Pizza in Lyme Regis I must say, Poco Pizza in Lyme Regis is absolute great! Tucked away with a splendid view over the beach, it offers pizzas that are simply scrumptious, bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection in a proper wood-fired oven. The prices are remarkably fair, especially considering the prime seaside location; one feels one’s getting tremendous value for money. We popped in during the afternoon, and it was utterly perfect; relaxed and inviting. I can only imagine how even more cosy it would be in the evening, with the sun setting over the waves. The music was spot on, too, complementing the ambience beautifully without overpowering conversation. All in all, a marvellous spot for anyone seeking a top-notch pizza experience in Dorset. Highly recommended, if you love Pizza and Italian Food!

My partner and I visit Lyme Regis regularly during the warmer months, and this time we decided to try Poco for a change — and we’re so glad we did! From the moment we walked up the stairs, we were warmly greeted by almost everyone, which instantly made us feel welcome and at ease. We were lucky enough to have a fantastic view overlooking the beach, and being sheltered from the seagulls was a lovely added bonus. The team at Poco couldn’t have been kinder — their friendly service and genuine care really stood out and made our visit extra special. The food was absolutely delicious: the pizza was phenomenal, full of flavour with a perfect base, and the garlic bread was honestly some of the best we’ve ever had. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Poco to anyone visiting Lyme Regis. Thank you so much for having us — we look forward to returning soon!

The Three Tuns is a charming historic inn located in Bransgore, Christchurch, Dorset. This picturesque thatched pub offers a classic British dining experience and features a large beer garden and on-site parking. The traditional low-ceilinged charm of the country pub is complemented by neatly tended thatch and whitewashed exterior. In the summer, visitors can enjoy an attractive shrub-sheltered terrace with picnic sets and tables overlooking pony paddocks.
Went for a walk in the New Forest and came across this lovely pub when looking for somewhere to stop for lunch that let's dogs in. Really friendly staff and great atmosphere. No problem getting a table as a walk-in, and we could sit comfortably in the bar area with our dog. Great choice of food on the menu, and all reasonably priced, too. Went for the burger, which was massive and tasted so fresh, homemade, and really rich and meaty. The staff also didn't mind us giving our dog a treat as we ate our lunch, and there were also complimentary dog treats at the bar. The deserts looked too good to miss, and we opted for the aquafaba lemon meringue (our first time trying aquafaba meringue!) and the melt-in-the-middle chocolate pudding with ice cream. Both deserts were morish, and definitely hit the spot after a fantastic meal. We will definitely be back when next in the New Forest!

The inside of the pub has quite a short roof so if you're tall then be careful but it's a lovely little place. The inside is a little too dark and cramped for my liking but they have a beautiful outside area you can drink or eat in. The food was absolutely fantastic! It is pricey but it's worth the price and the staff are very polite and attentive. We tried the local cider which was nice however, it did have a bit of an IPA beer taste which I enjoyed. My photograph does not do the size of the beef patty justice - very filling tasty meals the both of them!

Enjoyed a lovely lunchtime on the terrace. Menu choice is varied, lots to choose from. Food and presentation was excellent, lasagne was probably one of the best I've had, and I was able to pre-book a dressed crab salad for my elderly Mum, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were friendly and professional, a little slow taking orders but we weren't in a rush and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere.

Excellent food and service. Asked to taste 3 different flavours of cider before deciding which one we wanted. They obliged and brought them to us in the cutest miniature glasses. A lovely touch was also being brought a little glass of nuts when we arrived.

Surpassed expectations! It’s rare that we stay in one location whilst travelling just because the food is excellent, on this occasion we did. Our meal, service and experience at the Three Tuns was sooo good our onward plans were changed. The Scallops in Pernod butter sauce starter was sublime, so too the catch of the day 🐟 followed by α superb cheese 🧀 board. I tried a couple of the real ales, both were top notch. Steve and the team provide a great rural ambiance in this quant extended thatched cottage.

We stumbled on this country pub by accident. What a great find. The welcome was fabulous. The food and drinks were great and the menu offered a good selection of obviously home cooked and original food. It was served promptly which is always appreciated with my Mum! I think we'll return, soon. I think it'll be a great pub in the winter with open fires.

Honestly the food was great! The chap who worked there was a funny and friendly man! I had the fish and chips which was a huge portion. If you order the chips or cheesy chip then expect a huge amount of chips 🤣it was very quiet and good vibes. (Went in quiet hours)

The Three Tuns Country Inn was very delightful, good food, lovely scenery with a good atmosphere. The staff were very good. I had Duck Pancakes £9.50 for starters and asked for more pancakes, no charge. Had the Fish Platter for two £23.00, asked for more bread, no charge, and desserts. We went a bit over the top on drinks, and the final bill came to £115.72 for two.

Additionally, visitors can indulge in fresh lobster at the nearby smokehouse recommended by chef Scott Smith. For those interested in Indian cuisine, there are options available within close proximity to The Cobb Arms.
Popped in on Friday 15th Aug hoping to get some food without a booking, the staff were very friendly and got us a table for two. We had an absolutely FANTASTIC meal, 2 pies with all the trimmings, all hot, fresh and beautiful quality. Well done all involved, the friendly staff and the kitchen crew, keep producing these kind of meals and we'll keep coming back..............many thanks :)

I went to just the restaurant and despite all the awards that are shown on the wall it wasn't great. The staff were incredibly friendly, it's just the food that let them down. The red lettuce thing I had with my burger was covered in oil, the pickle had the strangest mint taste to it (but that's probably just personal choice) and the edges of the burger were burnt to a crisp. The veg my partner had was very nice, crunchy and buttery We were told that the menu was changing tomorrow so I appreciate we might of gotten the bits they were trying to get rid of ready for the next day. I am however willing to try out their new menu

Took my mum down to Lyme Regis as it's her favourite local seaside . Stopped at the Cobb for lunch with no great expectations but hey it was very nice , friendly staff we had scampi and chips and Hake and chips both nicely served up at our table food looked good and tasted even better well above seaside pub fare the white wine a Marlborough was also good served at the right temperature in a decent glass, and finally to top it off the coffee was also good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars not 5 is the complete lack of views from inside the pub , I believe you can see out of two of the window on the sea side. Good job worth a visit

I spent a week in lyme Regis for my 50th last week and visited the Cobb, twice for food and my last night for a drink... I cant praise the staff enough, especially lisa. Lisa I thank you very much, helpful, bubbly and a good sense of humour, I'm sad I missed you my last night. As for the food, it was amazing, the mashed potato especially. I will be telling all my family to visit The Cobb if they are ever near, I will come back again on my next holiday Thank you all

The only positive when visiting this pub was the lovely staff. When we arrived there were numerous dirty tables . The table was cleared it wasn’t wiped . Food is obviously frozen. The vegetables were hardly cooked and drenched in strong garlic butter . The fish cakes were not as described. If we were so hungry we would have sent it back. We isn’t our 1st time to this pub but truly disappointed at how run down it has become.

Pub on the seafront with excellent selection of beers. Food was great and the staff were lovely. Great place to have a chill and a beer in the sun after the beach. Only thing that would improve it is if they had WiFi, hardly a deal breaker!

Located in the popular seaside town of Lyme Regis, The Pilot Boat is a historic Grade II listed building that has been beautifully renovated into a trendy destination bar and restaurant. With fabulous sea views and a roof terrace, this establishment also offers three boutique bedrooms for accommodation. The pub serves a variety of quality home-cooked food throughout the day, making it convenient for visitors. Additionally, it provides vegan-friendly options on its menu, catering to different dietary preferences.
We stayed for 3 nights in the deluxe king room with the sea view. We had a very warm welcome on arrival, and the gent kindly carried our suitcases up to our room. I knew the room was going to be nice from looking at pictures, but it absolutely blew us away when we saw the view out the window. The room is decorated so beautifully and had everything we needed and more. The bed is so comfortable! Breakfast was also delicious and staff are very friendly and helpful. I thought there would possibly be noise at night due to the rooms being above the pub and next to the terrace, but there was no noise at all! Due to where the pub is situated, absolutely everything is a matter of minutes walk, we did not drive anywhere during our stay. We will definitely be returning, thank you pilot boat for a faultless stay.

Our second visit while visiting the area. The first being an excellent Xmas dinner. Booked in line but had to ring to confirm as did receive a confirmation of my booking A good menu with a choice of burgers, pizzas, pasta and daily specials. The staff were very good a special mention to Alanna who was excellent. We thought the food was a little slow to arrive with a considerable wait for both starters and mains and when they eventually did arrive my pasta was just better than warm on top and wife's pizza was only just warm, which was a little disappointing. But both were tasty. Despite this the next time we visit the area we would certainly consider eating here again.

We stopped here for a lunch and were very happy with our choice. The service was great, fast and with a smile. The food was delicious (we had a pizza and calamari with Greek potatoes) and it arrived very quickly. The interior is also lovely and just across the road from the museum which was perfect for us.

Popped down the Lyme Regis, and thought I'd try here. The place is lovely, it's just across the road from the sea front, the food was nice, but a bit on the pricey side, and there isn't a huge selection on the menu, and not much for vegetarians. The staff were nice and welcoming. They are dog friendly but only in the first part of the building, so at busier times/high season this could prove problematic as there aren't many low tables. I would visit here again even if it's just for a drink.

Fantastic meal yesterday. We were struggling as a party of 13 of us to find somewhere on a busy Sunday. From a chef and catering business owner I have to say that the food was fabulous. Didn’t wait too long, and everyone’s dishes were of great quality. My steak was so well seasoned.

Had a meal here for a birthday, have been before when it was quiet and was impressed with the food, I must say the food is delicious! Had the catch of the day, sea bass and it was very good, only let down was the service, had to ask for every course and not very attentive, could see all the courses under heat lamps waiting to be served, a shame because the chefs are cooking up some magic behind the curtain, we’ll be back and hopefully everything is bought up to the standard of the lovely food, something currently reflected in the prices but not entirely fulfilled by the dining experience, terrific location and decoration too! 4*

We recently had our wedding meal and evening reception at the Pilot Boat and I cannot recommend highly enough! The food was exceptional (lots of praise from guests!), the service was great and communication with Monique was brilliant, from our first enquiry up to the wedding day. It was the perfect venue for a seaside wedding - we were seated in the restaurant between lunch and dinner service but it didn't feel rushed at all. We hired a marquee from Taddle Farm Tents, which gave us shelter on the roof terrace for the evening. It was a great intimate space for speeches, cake, and dancing (highly recommended a silent disco too!) Kelsey and Josie were fab on the bar in the evening. We ended the night with a very comfortable stay in one of the pub's hotel rooms with a sea view. Thank you so much to the team!

The Fish Inn in Ringwood is a charming 16th-century thatched pub located on the banks of the River Avon. It offers a cozy atmosphere with real log fireplaces and a picturesque riverside setting. The pub takes pride in sourcing ingredients from local suppliers, ensuring a fresh and authentic dining experience. Visitors can enjoy British cuisine, including grill and gastropub dishes.
I have been to The Fish a few times in the past month and have found each visit to be really nice. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Admittedly, it is tricky to get to, but once you can navigate through Ringwood town centre and over the one lane bridge, you are on your own island with the Fish. Most people would drive past it along the A31, but they are missing out. There is also plenty of parking. Friday night they had a live singer, who was playing classic rock songs, they also have a quiz night once a month on a Tuesday which is really fun with some nice prizes. The food is really nice and they have a special menu too which mixes things up a bit. The garden is big with plenty of seating, dogs are welcome too. If you are looking for a night out with a great atmosphere, then I would recommend coming to the Fish.

Well kept beer in a cosy environment. They only had two house (Butcombe) ales on when I was there but they had pumps for 5 or 6 so presumably they have guest beers on as well sometimes. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food wasn't bad either - my chicken parmigiana was ok but my partner's pie of the day (steak and ale) was absolutely excellent. The lemon posset didn't look like much but was delicious - zingy and fresh. Nice that the pub garden is by the river but the incessant noise from the A31 kinda spoils the experience of being outside. Thankfully the windows are well sealed and the noise doesn't permeate indoors.

We visited the fish inn today for the first time. Service was very friendly and helpful. The food was most enjoyable two if our party had fish and chips, the fish was beautifully cooked and very tasty, mum took her chips home in a box and was thrilled to do I so! I had the burger which was excellent, cooked to perfection and again very tasty. Desserts were also enjoyed, delicious ice cream and the crumble was crunchy and flavoursome. We felt well cared for and very full after. Thank you ladies for helping my mum’s early birthday lunch go so smoothly. I look forward to returning in the near future.

Nice welcoming! Staff were really friendly and helpful. Had a starter which was good, not great, just good. However as soon as i finished the starter i got my main seconds after, the pie of the day, which was a cottage pie, which really does not count for a real pie. But i ordered it anyway, i was told it come with seasoned vegetables it come in a small dish like a childs portion with cabbage on the side. Not seasoned veg, then i was told its seasonal greens, which is still a lie. Just cabbage. So they give me pea's to add to it. By then i ate most of the dish it was that small. The pie was bland and very basic. Reminded of school dinner cottage pie. No gravy on the side either. Will not be returning as a simple dish which is over priced cannot even be made nice.

Staff could have been more cheerful; I'd have been a bit more welcoming , but that's me as I realise people generally vote with their first impression. The snack I had was poor. Doesn't mean that the food here is not usually good but for a first visit I wasn't impressed. Plenty of choice of drinks. Food wise I will probably give it a miss.

The Lord Bute Hotel & Restaurant offers individually designed rooms and suites in a charming boutique setting. The upscale restaurant, named after a 19th-century English Prime Minister, features modern purple and grey decor and live piano music. The menu showcases local Jurassic Coast beef, veggie tortellini, and a delightful Sunday five-course meal. Situated near Highcliffe Castle, the hotel provides an exceptional afternoon tea experience with a twist, including finger sandwiches like tarragon and white truffle chicken.
I booked an afternoon tea as a Christmas present for my Mum, my brother's fiancee and her Mum and we had the BEST time. We're not afternoon tea connoisseurs BUT I went on a lot last year as I was pregnant and that was the thing people wanted to do with me... I have to say it's the best one I've been to. The two waiters were so lovely and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. We were offered more sandwiches several times. More scones and jams, tea, coffee so we were never sat waiting. The scones were fresh and warm when they arrived. The service and food were flawless. I would definitely recommend having afternoon tea here and we will definitely be back. We had a peek at people's food (it was lunchtime) and it all looked lovely.

Lovely 2 night stay. We mentioned about it being our anniversary trip and the staff were lovely enough to upgrade our room. The room was brilliant. Massive size and comfortable bed, good selection of teas and coffee (including coffee machine). We were shocked to find air conditioning in the room which we used full force and it made a complete difference. Bathroom was a good size. My partner said its the most powerful shower he has had in a while. Did not use the restaurant or have breakfast (which was included) but looking at the menu and what the restaurant looked like we agreed we will be back again.

A lovely hotel, right next to historic Highcliffe castle. The rooms were lovely. Clean sheets, tidy room and a lovely sized bathroom that two people could get ready in together. Really quiet and peaceful environment too. No road noise or disruption from other guests. The breakfast was really nice too, my partner and I both thoroughly enjoyed the eggs benedict, cooked to perfection. The restaurant was lovely with plenty of seating space and a nice menu on offer. Staff were helpful, friendly and unobtrusive, leaving us to get on with our stay with a minimum of fuss or bother, but were responsive to our requests, such as use of an iron, or replacement towels after ours had been used.

My family and I came to stay at the Lord Bute around the 30th of June and I’ve got to say, I’m not sure it deserves five stars. It was a very plausible experience for what it was worth but, I think the food was very unpleasant. Other than that, the location was hard to find but we got our way there in time. Thank for our stay and I recommend you accommodate with the owners. They were the highlight of the stay

Awful, pretentious catering to an old clientele who clearly have no taste buds, service is shocking and in experienced making mistakes like mis taking the order and making a mess at the table. Would have all been acceptable had the food wasn’t bland, boring and disgusting with some dish’s. Was ment to be a treat with the family which turned out to be a memory for all the wrong reasons. I don’t know they have the audacity to charge what they are and provide food I could easily do better home, call yourself a 5 star hotel with double rosettes. I think your should get your act together or your ageing clientele won’t save this sinking ship. Won’t be coming again and will warn anyone who asks not to come also. Disgraceful

I have stayed in hundreds of different hotels from 4-5* and I have never seen anything like this before. Left my room at 8am for a meeting, when I came back at 10.30pm although the bed was made and towels changed, nothing else had been touched in the room, glassware still had the remains of dried orange juice, coffee cup still with the mornings coffee in, coffee pod still in the machine with no replacement, empty shower bottles still on the floor and no replacements. When we phone the emergency number given (as the reception closes at 5pm with no manager in charge after this) we realised Don was actually one of the owners, who was just apologetic and unable to do anything, apart from saying “do you want come back tomorrow afternoon after your meeting for a shower”, (bearing in mind we were checking out in the morning), which was incredible. So in the morning we had to shower with the small piece of soap that was in the basin and left. I do not know where the 5* came from for this hotel, no room service, no reception after 5pm, no operating safe in the room, the furniture is in a derelict state, no elevator, room rate touching the £200 per night. Believe me a boutique hotel to be avoided at any cost.

We stopped in for a bite to eat on Saturday lunchtime and had a great experience. Unfortunately I had an awful meal here. I ordered the fish pie which my first reaction to seeing it was surprise at how tiny it was. I tucked in regardless and was even more surprised to find that the covering for the fish pie was a bone dry pile of panco breadcrumbs topped with cheese. This is not a matter of taste but a fundamental lack of cooking knowledge from who ever conceived this. It's actually mind blowing to me that anyone could serve this and think it could ever be enjoyed by anyone. It's like serving a pile of uncooked flour and expecting someone to enjoy it. Moving on to the filling - the white sauce was bland and there was only one prawn and five small chunks of fish in the pie. £16 down the drain. The only positive was the girl serving us was very nice and the Thatchers was good.

My Brother chose The Grasshopper as it was his 50th! Large open space ... fairly quiet maybe because it was Bank Holiday Monday lunchtime ?? I ordered Chicken Roast last dinner which wasn't available so had Beef - stated "pink" on menu but far too uncooked for me - the rest of the dinner was delicious. All 6 of us had desserts - my Nephew chose waffles, was asked 1 or 2, decided on 2 but was then told they only had 1 left. Apart from the "not available's" we all enjoyed the meal and the venue :) A

Service here was appalling & slow staff didn’t seem happy & the food was lukewarm, the chips tasted slightly frozen & not hot in the middle.. my partner came expecting a chicken roast on this Sunday & turns out they told us there was no chicken in the kitchen! So decided to order something else. Coke was completely flat & then they said they gave me a bottle replacement in a glass however that seems a lie as that was completely flat as-well. It was very dead atmosphere & I can now see why! I do Not recommend.

A few months ago this would have been a 5 star review, but sadly no longer. My friend and I have been having coffee at the Grasshopper for several years now. We arrive at 11 when it opens. Until a couple of months ago the staff were friendly and efficient. Now there is one person serving who also seems to be overseeing building work. This week we ordered our usual coffees, sat outside and waited, and waited and waited. Customers arriving after us had their drinks so my friend investigated. Our coffees were on a filthy tray waiting on the counter. The staff member confirmed they were ours and said he'd forgotten to bring them out. The same thing happened the previous week too. I know it's not a busy time of day but the service needs be better. Other regular coffee goers have commented to us that they have noticed a downturn in service and they, like us, are looking for alternative places to go. I would have thought that some money from coffee drinkers was better than no money at all.

I visited here for a family members wedding. The team are fabulous and although i did not stay as i had other accommodation the rooms i saw that my friends were staying in were absolutely beautiful! The hayloft in the back is a stunning new edition to an already beautiful pub and i will definitely be coming again! No job is too big or small for the team and they really are superstars

Do like this pub and the lady with curly dark hair on Sunday s is amazing 5 stars to here but im giving a 1 star to Paige We had a disagreement a while bk and since returning she wasnt at all hospitable ( very bitchy towards me no sniling and very rude towards me) Not at all bothered but dont tell a customer within my reach that you would love to gauge my eyes out Yes i heard you Never ever drinking in here ever again

The room was very cosy and quirky. The location was good as it was right near the precinct with many eateries. The service was amazing, Vicky is lovely! However, the lock on our door was hard to lock, and the shower was poor. We also lacked a few key items such as bowls, and we would've liked that as there was no breakfast. In conclusion, very good with small improvements required to make it perfect😁

Unfortunate experience Stayed for two nights in a room directly above the main bar, there is zero soundproofing and the room is completely filled with any music played below as well as talking. You won't be able to sleep easily at the weekend if you are placed in this room. Room generally nice but don't expect a quiet place to retreat to if you are unlucky enough to get this room. Had further issues with the shower not draining and overfilling within a few minutes. I tried to raise my concerns to the manager who wasn't actually present during my visit only to be ignored for over month after my trip.

Nestled in the charming village of Christchurch, Ye Olde George Inn is a delightful 600-year-old pub that invites both humans and their furry companions to enjoy a meal together. With dog-friendly amenities like water and treats available at the bar, it’s a perfect spot for pet owners. The menu boasts an impressive selection of burgers, hot dogs, and indulgent 'dirty fries', alongside tempting desserts that are sure to please everyone—both two-legged and four-legged guests alike.
A friend brought us here and we understood right there and then why he chose this pub out of all the places. The bartender, Ethan, sorry if I’m wrong, was a nice chap, polite, cool, and humble at the same time. He seems to remember his customers very well. The bartender has different zones catering to all kinds of drinkers and diners. To avoid the crowd on Friday night, we went there on a relatively more peaceful Thursday evening, sitting next to the bar while a quiz game was going on in a different room.

Lovely pub in Christchurch, good beers on tap, and also does food. Food came after 1 hours wait, we warned it would be 25 mins. Not the end of the world, we had few pints in the nice beer garden while waiting. Both Avocado salads came comically without Avocado. The waiter was on good form and quickly chopped one up for us and put it in the salad. Great fun, nice venue, funny food experience. Will come again!

Good pub, a former coaching inn, about 15 minutes walk from Christchurch Railway Station. Three cask beers on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating at the rear some of it covered. The pub is Grade-II listed.

We ate here on a Sunday. The food was cold, the toilets were blocked and the staff were not especially friendly. At no point did anyone check if everything was okay and we were in a rush so had no time to send food back (not shouldn't have to!). If they don't want less than five star reviews then we would suggest they are a bit more welcoming and that they don't serve cold food.

Booked a table for 7 for a friends 60th birthday . Waited SO long for food. When it finally arrived it was cold!! £16.50 for a small burger and chips, no garnish!! Sent back 4 meals. Half of us eating at different times!! Shocking!! Would never recommend this place to anyone. Clearly understaffed!! 😖

Stumbled across this Pub today, we were hoping for a nice sunny day but sadly the weather didn’t play ball, there was 13 of us & we sat in the Barn part & pretty much had the place to ourselves, the Landlord was so friendly & very helpful, we were able to enjoy some relaxing family time & the kids enjoyed playing pool. Staff couldn’t do enough for us & the food was fantastic. We will be coming here again that’s for sure 😄

I've been here before and had a good experience, but unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. We ordered a burger priced at £17, and it was honestly one of the worst I’ve ever had. The patty was burnt, the bread was extremely hard, and the whole thing was super dry. What made it worse is that it looked overcooked even before I took a bite, so I suspect the staff noticed but chose to serve it anyway. On top of that, the burger was supposed to come with onion rings and a sauce, but we had to ask for both as they were missing from the plate. For the price, I expected much better quality and attention to detail. Really let down this time.

If you're on the lookout for an authentic Italian dining experience, look no further than Italia Ristorante & Pizzeria. Nestled in the charming town of Lyme Regis, this delightful eatery offers a mouthwatering array of freshly-prepared dishes that will transport your taste buds straight to Italy. From their delectable pizzas to rich and flavorful pasta options, every bite showcases the high quality and freshness of their ingredients.
We ate at Italia on our first night in Lyme Regis. My parents had eaten at the restaurant previously, and it was conveniently located a couple of doors from our holiday cottage. The food was simple but both delicious and generous, and the service very friendly. If you’re after good Italian food at a fair price, you can’t go wrong with this restaurant.

Another visit…June 2023… the same quality food and drink. Good follow up to phone messages. Much enjoyed. Straightforward strongly recommend 👍 It’s a while since we we last visited, hasn’t changed a bit. Simple, straightforward Italian restaurant, very tasty, good quality food. This time around there were two young ladies ‘in charge’ front of house, both very friendly and efficient. Will ‘keep in mind’ and return again soon. PS Thanks for squeezing us in. Another visit, May, all good maybe less impressed with food for ££

We feel so lucky to have found this restaurant today. We had a bad experience with a pub that was highly rated in google the night before so we were hesitant at first to try it. It was fantastic! Everything was terrific. The high quality and freshness of the ingredients used shined through. My 7 year old daughter kept saying how her tagliatelle with bolognese was the best she ever had and requested I take a picture. My husband and I had fish/seafood dishes that were very fresh and delicious. My son said his pizza was perfect. We had a wonderful ending to a very exciting day.

Good variety of Italian dishes. In my opinion the Pizza is not their stong point, but the various pasta dishes are excellent. Wine good value. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Prices £££ May 2023. Nice Tagliatelle Fungi. Few places open this time of year, so very welcome to find this restaurant open on a Monday.

Lovely pint of Tangle Foot in nice surroundings. Great staff, nice clientele, although I didn't eat there it was nicely busy with people doing so and the food looked great .. and as a couple of bonuses for me as someone just calling in for a drink, there were seats available and the pub didn't smell of food (something I dislike) All good!

Such a lovely, unique pub. Very traditional, a place you would only experience in Poole. It was busy when I went in but we managed to get seats at the bar and were served soon enough. I didn't eat there but I will in future as the food looked lovely and I heard others talking about how lovely their meals were. A really special place.

We visited on a Sunday in June 2023, having popped in around 6 months earlier for a pint just before they closed. This time we were there for opening and after checking the menu decided to try the Sunday Roast. We weren't disappointed as the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was out of this world. Both the Pork and Beef options came with all the trimmings you'd expect and the veg was especially delicious. Really good portion sizes too. It did get quite busy whilst we were eating, so booking ahead is probably advisable if you want to guarantee a table. But whether you're there for food or just a drink, you won't find a friendlier pub on Poole Quay.

Just a lovely roast dinner. The homemade cauliflower cheese was the best I’ve tasted for some time and it was lovely to have roast potatoes that were roasted and not deep fried! Pub staff all friendly and make you feel welcomed. I would highly recommend this place for food or just out for a drink.

2025 ane back in for bike night. New owners. Had a walk in by myself to sample the fish and chips without the seagulls swooping down, stealing. Deep sea divers old masks, boats, ships in glass tanks, not forgetting the barrels as tables. You can't get more ship orientated without being at sea. So, place was full in these times, one lonely table for a biker and his jacket. Back for bike night, 2024

The Club House, located at 179181 Lymington Road, Highcliffe-on-Sea, BH23 4JS, offers a diverse menu featuring dishes such as fillet of Jurassic Coast beef stuffed with mushrooms and pan-seared halibut with king prawns, garlic and chilli. The restaurant's classical setting and orangery provide a delightful dining experience.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Club House in Bexington, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, making sure we felt welcome and well taken care of. The menu was diverse and thoughtfully curated, offering a range of dishes that cater to both classic tastes and more adventurous palates. I opted for the seafood special, which was impeccably fresh and cooked to perfection. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the flavors were expertly balanced—every bite was a delight. The ambiance of the Club House was equally impressive, with its cozy yet elegant decor and a lovely view that added to the overall experience. The attention to detail in both the food and the service was evident, making it clear that this is a place that takes pride in delivering a top-notch dining experience. The wine list offer reasonable price across the board. Overall, dining at the Club House in Bexington was an absolute treat. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner or a special night out with friends, this is the place to go. I can't wait to return!

We were staying in a cottage nearby and had dinner here on our first day we arrived. Great food and even better service from the staff. We enjoyed it so much we returned on our last day for a late lunch and stayed until closing. Shout out to the dog loving staff member who took care of us both days. Just lovely. The location is also perfect with great views, peaceful surroundings and loads of different options for sitting outside and enjoying the sun. Would absolutely recommend.

We had a pleasant evening at The Club House. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was friendly and attentive. The food, however, was more on the average side. We tried the fish, catch of the day, mussels (which were a little too heavy on the onions), and tagliatelle con scampi, which was fine but nothing special. Overall, a good experience thanks to the service and setting, though the dishes could be improved.

Surprised at the other reviews to be honest. This is their idea of a club sandwich at £18.75 I was very disappointed. We didn’t eat it and when asked how the food was, we said it was unfortunately not edible the waiter laughed and said I’ll get these plates taken away then.

What a disappointing lunch we had today. All looked so promising! Chose a lovely little starter which was very nice . Main course arrived about 20 minutes later but staff hadn’t cleared the starter plates before the mains arrived! Both main courses were presented nicely . Although hubbys crab Linguine was lacking in seasoning . My main of sardines was a little too rich. A very creamy sauce that could have done with a bit of a citrus zing for balance of flavours. However we sat and sat after eating our main course whilst the staff were taking orders around us and seemed to not notice we had finished. This was by now at least 30 minutes after finishing our mains. Eventually caught the eye of our waitress and ordered ice cream each. Another 20 minutes went by and again we had to ask someone where the desserts were. Another 5 minutes said the waitress Finally the ice creams arrived but mine was melted and my husbands order was wrong!!! We decided not to eat them and asked for our bill and explained why we were leaving. We were a bit cross but was told by waitress not to be so aggressive!!? What a total disappointment this place is. Such a lovely position overlooking the sea . They said their kitchen was very small, but the restaurant and outside area is very large and there didn’t seem to be much control over how many people they were seating . So the balance of coping with a small kitchen and the number of clients was completely out of balance. Owners please take note of this as you need to train your staff better at keeping an eye on clients throughout their meal. Also to be a bit more respectful when a valid complaint is made .

Lovely lunch today. The whipped cod roe starter was amazing. The chips were superb, really crunchy and super hot. Seafood chowder was really tasty and full of lovely pieces of fish. Lovely staff and nice views of the beach. Free parking for 2 hours right outside. I imagine in the summer it gets really busy so would recommend booking. We'll definitely be back.

This place ROCKED! After visiting the Salisbury Cathedral, we walked here to take a load off, have a pint and enjoy a late lunch. The local brew as great as were the fish and chips. Super tasty burger, one of nicest I've had for a long time. Me & GF stopped by here for first time while in the nice area of Salisbury and couldn't fault anything. We both ordered the Angus burger & both said how lovely the meat was. The chips were so good too with a fab seasoning. I had a couple of pints of the really nice cloudy lemon cider too. What a fantastic find, such an old worldly place with limbered ceilings and low doorways. A gem with some usual tap beers and a few real ales available. Staff were friendly and polite. Mixture of stone and wooden flooring. Nice and cosy place with bare brickwork also. Loved it. Beer was good and at a reasonable price. Enjoyed my visit.

The food and the atmosphere here was great. We walked in without a booking, party of 7, and we're welcomed. Food came quickly and was delicious.
Deborah B — Google review
Do not eat here, especially if you go a for Sunday roast. Beef is tough as old boots, Yorkshires are evidently cooked in old oil as that is all you can taste and the veg is undercooked to the point of raw. Friend had veggie and we laughed as the nut roast was so microwaved she stood her fork up in it as it wad like a brick. She would have broken her teeth if she had eaten it. There was also evidence of some thing that looked like mashed swede or similar that had been scrapped off the plates before being given to us Don't take the paying public for fools, as there is too much competition out there. We only paid for our drinks as we didn't touch the meal. Got some nice picky bits from M&S instead!! This is how pubs go under. Sad.

Nestled on the outskirts of Poole, The Yachtsman is a charming family-friendly pub that radiates warmth and hospitality. Just a stone's throw from Hamworthy Park and the beach, it’s an ideal spot for casual dining with kids in tow. Families can unwind while children enjoy the dedicated play area, making it perfect for leisurely afternoons.
Family meal for mothers day. Grandchildren enjoyed macaroni cheese and ice-cream. Adults all had the roast beef. The roast potatoes veg Yorkshire pud etc were all very tasty. We also had a sharing platter with pigs in blankets, extra roast pots & cauli cheese. Beef a little tough & stringy in places. Probably just the joint we had as I understand they can vary. Excellent service from the lovely Grace . Meals were served quickly and we're nice and hot. Nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. The Yachtsman is a warm and inviting spot, perfect for a relaxed pint and good conversation. The interior blends classic pub charm with a touch of nautical character — wooden beams, soft lighting from vintage-style lamps, and maritime details create a cosy, welcoming feel. The seating is a mix of sturdy wooden tables, comfortable leather armchairs, and higher bar stools, offering plenty of choice depending on your mood. Large windows bring in natural light, and the gentle hum of friendly chatter adds to the laid-back atmosphere. The Avon Causeway is the most dog and human friendly inn we've stayed in! Amanda and her team were fabulous and Amanda went out of her way to ensure our room was accessible for my wife who is convalescing and struggles with stairs. The bed and room was very comfortable and provided a good night's sleep! The bar is very comfy and the food was great and good value and there are lots of outside tables if the weather allows. Our dog was fussed by all the lovely staff and he loved his sausage at breakfast time! Definitely going back to explore more of the lovely places and this pub makes a fantastic place to stay. Myself and two friends visited for their cocktail masterclass and 2-course lunch and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The food is out of this world, presented beautifully and tastes delicious. The cocktail making was by far better than others I’d done in the past as you are able to make all the cocktails yourself with the guidance of an excellent bartender (we loved his sense of humour!) The service is also excellent, we were still laughing and drinking 5 hours later! Honestly the best girls afternoon, we will be back for another event soon I’m sure. I should also mention I’ve had dinner here a few times and it’s always been top quality!

It really added something special to the experience. Overall, a truly delightful lunch – highly recommended, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

The White Hart in Wimborne Minster is a charming pub that offers a warm and homely environment, where visitors can enjoy delicious pub meals and traditional Sunday roasts. The establishment features a pool table and garden seats, providing a relaxed atmosphere for patrons to unwind. With its rich history dating back to the 17th century, the inn boasts unique architectural elements such as 17th-century ceiling beams with deep chamfers and shaped stops.
Great venue in the middle of town if you’re visiting follow the sat nav up the pedestrian road to the pub carpark outside the pub or there is a pay and display behind …. The owner and staff here are great! really accommodating and friendly, food was lovely tasty, well presented and definitely above average portion sizes (see pics) highly recommend a visit if your in town. The pub has a little basket ball game for the kids, pool table and dart board. If it’s nice outside they have a really nice beer garden.

Excellent Sunday roast. I had the large and just about managed to finish it. Vegetables were all cooked perfectly in my opinion and the cauliflower cheese was particularly good. Staff were very attentive and professional. I'll be going back soon.

Forgot to take a photo before eating the salad 🥗 and half my chips but I had the Bacon, Brie & Cranberry Panini with a coffee. Tasted lovely, plenty of food on the plate and I'm definitely looking forward to the carvery roast next time 😋 Karen and Woody are lovely people have done a fantastic job bringing the pub and garden back to life, welcoming back old customers as well as new. The rest of the staff are just as welcoming and make you feel like youre part of the family. We can always have a laugh with everyone. The atmosphere is brilliant everytime, we love the live music, they have a meat draw on Thursdays, there's a beer/wine draw, 1 hour of free pool 🎱 and a free jukebox all day Sundays!

Just had a stunning Sunday roast!! Friendly staff, great food, generous portions, LOADS of gravy & amazing value. Positive update: They're offering different sized options on the Sunday roast. Great portions, great value.

I'm impressed with the service here these days. They have a fairly young team that are hard-working, and they're all very pleasant and offer efficient service. The small bites have improved significantly recently, too. The buffalo chips, salt and pepper chicken and the wings are all reasonably priced and definitely tasty snacks. Green King has regular discounts that are worth keeping an eye out for, typically ranging from 10-20%. This is a great meeting place for small or large groups alike.

We were a group of 7. Booked a carvery based on reviews. Really disappointed by the meat portion size (we had a medium). Absolutely minuscule portion of pork, and dry chicken breast portion cut in half again!! Not sure what they would have done if we’d asked for the large. No cauliflower cheese! When queried the lovely server said the size was at the chef’s instruction. The vegetables were lovely and the staff were friendly. Although, Marston’s brewery are supposed to give a Blue Light discount but this pub does not. Nice pub garden.

My wife and I, along with four friends, went for lunch and discovered they were offering a carvery, so we decided to give it a try. We got our drinks and were told to make our way to the carvery. However, by the time we finally got to choose our meal — around 1:45 pm — there was only a limited amount of food left, basically just scraps. We felt this was wrong, especially as we had already paid upfront. In our opinion, the carvery should have been closed at that point, allowing us the option to go elsewhere instead.

Our first time in this pub and we weren’t disappointed. Had a lovely Sunday roast which was clearly freshly cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful and the whole place was spotlessly clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning.

The Clockspire Restaurant, located in Millborne Port near Dorset and Wiltshire, is housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century schoolhouse with towering ceilings and natural oak beams. The restaurant offers a charming and elegant atmosphere, where seasonal and ingredient-led dishes take center stage. Chef Luke Sutton curates a British menu with modern twists on traditional dishes such as Carver duck breast with pickled blackberries and Dorset white crab crumpets.
We've have been meaning to eat at the Clockspire for a while but timings had conspired against us. Whilst staying in Shaftesbury, I had secretly booked us in as a surprise for my husband. We were treated to excellence in food, service and location. On arrival we were taken up to the bar to enjoy drinks and to select our food. Then we went down to our table. We enjoyed every delectable mouthful of each of our three courses. There were layers of tastes to bombard our taste buds! Just superb!

What an experience. From the moment you walk in and you're taken to the bar for pre meal drinks to the food and the service. Not cheap but worth every penny. We ate as a family of four tonight and every dish was incredible. Top marks to the chefs and the people who served us. 5 stars all the way ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I booked a cocktail masterclass for lunchtime on Saturday. Just wow! We had a great time, mixing, shaking, chatting and learning (plus lots of drinking!) That evening we had fantastic meal for my husband’s birthday. I pre booked a table for a Saturday evening, which I would recommend as they are busy. The service was wonderful, great food, beautifully presented and extremely tasty. Every course was cooked to perfection. They have a great wine list - you can order by the glass or a bottle of your choice. If you are after pre dinner drinks, I would definitely suggest you arrive early and check out the bar upstairs and have one of their wonderful cocktails or a glass of Langham English sparking wine - all served by Matt (a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to cocktails!) Thanks to all the team.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and delicious dining experience at the Clockspire Restaurant this evening. Food was excellent along with the service. The old school building has been beautifully restored and creates a delightful surrounding and atmosphere, complimenting the whole experience. This has just become my favorite restaurant. We shall return.

If you are in the area, you absolutely must visit The Clockspire! Staff was great and accommodating about allergies. The food was unique, flavorful, and well presented. We went for the Sunday lunch so the menu was quite limited, but everything we had was delicious. The restaurant's interior is beautiful and perfect for a special occasion or just a nice dinner. I would love to try other menus in the future!

I have been to Clockspire so many times but I must say that the roast sunday lunch on 6.7.25 was the best one I’ve ever had. The best lunch ever. Finished with an amazing dessert. It was our first time to bring our close friends in Milborne Port, Im so glad Clockspire did not disappoint and will go back again.🙌🏼

We booked this is as a celebration birthday meal. We booked via the phone, and they informed me that a Jazz band would be playing. On arrival we were shown to the bar which is upstairs. While we were looking at the menu we had a very nice cocktail or two. This place is relaxed and there was no rush for us to go down to our table. I chose the Cured cod, chicken for main and cherry sorbet for dessert. The cocktail and wine list is full of great choices. The Jazz band were excellent. The food was served with decadence and attention to detail. We had such a relaxing time we rung our taxi and asked for a latter pick up. The great food, service, and drink menus are not cheap but not OTT like Lympstone Manor, whos food and wine menus and service are as good as the Clockspire. We would certainly recommend this resterunt and go again.

Nestled in the heart of Lyme Regis, Lilac Restaurant & Wine Bar is a charming and popular venue located in a 400-year-old cellar on Broad Street. The inviting space is surrounded by exposed stone walls adorned with shelves of wines from around the world and local producers. Chef Harriet Mansell showcases her love for the area through a menu that changes daily, featuring small plates made with hyper-local and micro-seasonal ingredients sourced using ethical and sustainable practices.
Absolutely delicious! Each dish, even the focaccia bread with garlic oil, is just so flavourful. The staff are very nice and it is a beautiful place to sit. They do an amazing set menu, which is good value for such gorgeous food!

Looking for somewhere for lunch at short notice, and thought we would give this a try as usual restaurant of choice booked. And I'm so glad it was! Had the Sunday set menu. Quiet and contemporary surroundings, really great serving staff (16.2.25 well done you two!). The food was delicious, really fabulous. Can't understand why it was not packed as felt price was reasonable for quality of food. Would have been 5* but it was a little cold in there and coffee was not very hot - but those are minor points. We would highly recommend and already planning a return visit - worth the 75-minute drive!!

We didn't book, and the restaurant was full, but the server offered us the bar table or outside dining, and as it as a sunny warm evening we landed on the outdoor dining. This is a rare find. Not only was the outdoor dining stylish and intimate, it offered wonderful service, and a 10/10 experience. The dinner was wonderful, from small bites all the way to the main the meal was wonderful. The menu is seasonal and delicious, this was a menu that didn't offer comfortable favourites, but diverse delicious plates that we talked about all the way home. They even made us a tailor made cocktail which was spicy and lovely. We had 3 servings. We are thrilled we got in, and would recommend it to anyone who is a food lover.

Came here for dinner for my partners birthday from London. Fantastic little restaurant in a great location. Beautiful, simple decor and super friendly staff. Lovely seasonal menu with a great selection of vegetarian, fish and meat fishes from the area. The 'soused mackerel' was my favourite and the frangipane desert were exquisite. The wine was local and divine. Great experience and a great meal.
Sebastian C — Google review
We had the seasonal three course meal. Good range of choices and the restaurant made sure all of it could be cooked gluten free. The gf bread & butter was fantastic - nothing defrosted from a pack, but fresh & full of texture & flavour. Excellent selection of wines too.
Emm B — Google review
I came here for dinner after reading such great reviews online and I gotta say this was a truly exceptional dining experience. Excellent and attentive service, with a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the mackerel and rabbit dishes, as well as a brown sugar meringue, a cider and herbal tea. Everything was delicious, really highlighted what I love about dining out. The culinary team showcased some pretty exciting and complex flavour profiles without coming across as over engineered. This restaurant also successfully implements an ever changing menu with seasonal ingredients, which is not an easy thing to do. From my other dining experiences, I know farm-to-table cuisine can easily lend itself to inconsistency. If you’re in the area, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Harriet Mansell’s Lilac restaurant and wine bar in Lyme Regis is a must if you staying here. I booked a table a few weeks ago as it was for a birthday meal. We arrived earlier than our booked table so that we could try out of some the cocktails. We were greeted by friendly smiling staff and shown to a cosy sofa area where we enjoyed one of their cocktails. We were not disappointed - imaginative ingredients and very nicely presented too! Lilac offers an amazing menu of small plates to share using seasonal locally sourced produce. The dishes are beautifully presented, full of amazing flavours to treat your taste buds and you can just keep ordering! We have previously eaten at Robin Wylde (which recently closed) and experienced Harriet’s amazing talent for great food. It was lovely to see Harriet, who is always smiling, and have a chat. I hope your next venture (whenever that may be) is as successful as both of the restaurants that we have eaten in to date. Thank you to all of the team for making the evening so enjoyable.

Picked this superb place because of a mention in the Guide Michelin and honestly thought they deserve a Bib Gourmand. Tucked away in a cellar in the High, the classification as a wine bar doesn’t do it full justice. It’s a fantastic restaurant with tapas style food and they also have a great wine selection. The staff were extraordinarily nice and engaging and we felt most welcome. Very strong recommendation to book in advance to not miss out on this experience.

Guests are welcomed with warmth and hospitality, making it an ideal stop for travelers. The menu features delicious dishes, including a standout Ribeye steak paired with homemade sides like onion rings and garlic bread. Did not have a room but know from our stay last year that the rooms are very good. Went for birthday meal on Friday 3rd and as always the food was delicious and fresh. The ambience was very relaxing and the staff were great, very friendly. Will be back next year for another birthday meal.

We unfortunately only spent one night, late arrival due to delayed plane and traffic but an extremely nice and warm welcome. Very good food was prepared and served despite closed kitchen. Breakfast prepared and brought to our room because we had to leave early. Excellent service. Our regret is to have spent so little time in such nice place. We hope to come back in the future for a longer stay. Thank you so much.

Upon arrival at The Greyhound in Winterbourne Kingston, we were warmly greeted by two friendly front-of-house staff who remained welcoming and attentive throughout our entire visit. Their hospitality was a real highlight and made a great first impression. We chose to sit outside, which was no trouble at all for the team, and we placed an order for two burgers. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the same standard as the service. The burgers were poor in quality; the baps were clearly basic frozen white flour rolls, and the burger patties themselves lacked flavour and quality. The chips served alongside were only tepid and not properly hot, which further added to the disappointment. Despite the substandard meal, I was brought up not to leave food on my plate, so we made the best of it. When the plates were cleared, the staff once again showed great hospitality, kindly offering our daughter some ice cream, which was a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated. To sum up: the staff at The Greyhound are excellent and genuinely make an effort to provide a warm and pleasant experience. However, based on the quality of the food we were served, I would likely return only for a drink and would avoid ordering food.

Greeted on arrival and made to feel so welcome even though we hadn’t booked . We both chose the Steak of The Week which was Ribeye and it was delicious and so tender. We had the sides of homemade onion rings and garlic bread which were delicious. Only fault my husband had was he thought the Peppercorn sauce was too runny . The service was excellent and can definitely recommend The Greyhound.

Pub
The Kings Head is a historic 16th-century pub located in Poole, offering a vibrant atmosphere and a warm welcome to all, including furry friends. Situated on the lively high street near Poole Quay, this family-run establishment is known for its great value pub food and drinks, featuring award-winning Badger Beer. The pub hosts live music and quiz nights and boasts a dog-friendly environment with an outdoor garden.
Love the King’s Head. It is a beautiful, traditional English pub in every way. It's authenticity is obvious when you go, with old wooden panelling, Victorian lighting, and parts of the real ancient building still visible. It’s full of character but also really cosy and welcoming. The best thing about this place is the people who run it. Friendly, funny, and always happy to chat. You feel welcome from the moment you walk in. On Sundays, they serve a proper homemade roast just roasts, nothing else... and it’s lush. You can choose from three meats, or have the special for a small extra cost. The portions are generous, the meat is well-cooked, and there’s loads of tasty veg on the plate. It’s very good value for money, especially for fresh, home-style cooking. The pub is also known for being haunted, with several ghost stories shared by the landlord if you ask. There’s even a little ghost dog! It all adds to the unique experience. Outside, there’s a beer garden where you can sit in the sun and enjoy a drink. The whole place has a relaxed, local feel and it’s a lovely spot to visit whether you're just in Poole for the day or live nearby. Highly recommended if you’re looking for real English food and atmosphere in a friendly, historic setting. Recommend you book. It's popular with everyone.

The pub had plenty of room when we first arrived, by the time we left it was very busy. They have a furry friends menu as well as 1 for us. The wine list has suggestions by each wine to compliment the meals being served. There is a pool table and a beer garden. You can also buy a hot drink, they sell amongst other s, badger beer. They offer free venue hire when ordering the buffet. There is no parking on site and no specific accessibility toilet, 2 small steps and 2 doors to get through to the toilet. They have the use of ramps to get to the beer garden if required. There were people of all agesin the pub.

Lovely pub. Nicely decorated, comfy seats, very nice clean toilet and great food. We had kids chicken nuggets, adult ham egg and chips and a steak and kidney pie. Great portion sizes. Lots of veg with the pie, 3 types and the pie had lots of kidney in. I also had a latte which was very nice, my hubby had a flat white which for him was too milky. Really nice staff too. Well priced.

Service from Kerry was great and helped pick something off the food menu. The chicken burger was A-MAZING. The venue was very clean and Kerry was attentive to all the customers.

Went in on spec for Sunday lunch with the only offering being Sunday roast. We went for the pork option. The meat and roast were ok but the vegetables were overcooked and tasteless. In addition the crumble dessert was cold. We made our concerns known and to be fair we were offered replacements which were hot enough.

The Four Horsemen Pub is a throwback to the 90s, located in Bournemouth Triangle. It offers a wide selection of craft beer, ciders, and exotic spirits. The pub features quirky decor with references to the 90s era such as a Pulp Fiction mural and retro disco balls. This cozy venue hosts live music events including performances by smaller artists like The Goodtime Band and Free Foundation, as well as open mic nights and random jam sessions.

Well what a little gem I found here. On a night out with my daughter to explore Bournemouth we stumbled across the four horseman and seeing as it was the name of some serious hardcore producers from the 90s, and the sign said "90s & 2000s" it was rude not to check it out. And my, I was in for a treat. While upstsirs was the usual super fast and soulless jump up, downstairs in the tiny basement club they were playing some of the finest hardcore and jungle I've heard of in a long time - and I go out in London regularly. This was actually a send off for the death of someone who was an old school teacher - RIP Dennis - and we were very lucky to be part of that. DJ John and the other djs played tunes I hadn't heard of for a good while, and they just kept on rolling. What was supposed to be one stock turned into to staying the 3 hours until it closed at 2. Lovely people, good value drinks, great atmosphere and PHENOMENAL music. I hope they do more events with that music, as they will be very popular in my circle indeed. In fact, we have done djs in the group with a serious selecttion if hardcore and jungle who could assist....

Interesting place, friendly staff and nice music, however the volume was too high to have a conversation, the place needs a good clean and although we might not be the right age level the food was definitely not 5 stars, it's ok if your hungry and the concept of 3 small portions for £10 is great, but the food is not the reason to come. There are many drinks options and it's really nice place with a lovely atmosphere.

In a town with very few independent pubs this is a great, 90s-inspired retro bar and kitchen. I loved the alternative decor, especially the upstairs murals. Friendly staff and a huge selection of craft beers, ciders and spirits. Would love to be here when live music starts up again!

Nestled just north of Christchurch, Stourvale Inn is a delightful family-friendly pub that promises a warm and inviting atmosphere. Recently, guests have raved about their Sunday lunches, highlighting the crispy roast potatoes and tender beef paired with fresh vegetables like carrots and broccoli. If you're on the hunt for a quintessential British pub experience in Christchurch, The Stourvale on Barrack Road is your go-to spot. This family-friendly establishment boasts a buzzing atmosphere day and night, making it a favourite among locals and visitors alike. During my recent visit with Katie and our ever-enthusiastic dog, Bisxuit, we were immediately struck by the warm and welcoming environment. The pub offers a diverse menu featuring burgers, grills, chicken dishes, and street food, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate. Our meals were served promptly, piping hot, and bursting with flavour—a testament to the kitchen's dedication to quality. The Stourvale isn't just about great food; it's a haven for sports enthusiasts. With multiple TVs broadcasting live matches, it's the perfect place to catch the big game while enjoying a pint. The staff are attentive and friendly, always ready with a smile and quick service, which enhances the overall experience. Comparing it to the pub scene in Thailand, where I've spent considerable time, The Stourvale offers a distinct charm. While Thai pubs often exude a laid-back, beachy vibe with reggae tunes and tropical cocktails, The Stourvale embodies the classic British pub spirit—cozy interiors, hearty meals, and a communal atmosphere that's hard to replicate. In summary, The Stourvale delivers on all fronts: delectable food, a vibrant atmosphere, and top-notch service. It's a place where you can relax, enjoy good company, and feel right at home. I'd rate it a solid 75 out of 83 pints—a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic British pub experience in Christchurch.

I paid extra for a sea view room but did not get one until I raised it at reception. To their credit, the receptionist was apologetic and moved us. Check in lacked information, and both rooms were very outdated. Both kettles had heavy limescale, the second room’s TV did not work, and everything was dusty. The bed was comfortable, but the rooms look like they have not been updated in decades. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and excellent coffee. However, while we were eating, two members of staff stood right next to us talking about a colleague’s trousers being around their ankles. It was unprofessional and not the sort of conversation guests should be hearing. The games room was fun, and the playground pirate ship was a hit with my child. The location is also great. The indoor pool had algae, cloudy water, dirty changing rooms, and no staff present when we visited. Overall, the hotel has potential thanks to its location and some good facilities, but it urgently needs refurbishment, better maintenance, and improved professionalism from staff to justify the price.

Was bought an afternoon tea for two, certainly took me back in time! Proper service from friendly well trained staff. The hotel is in a great position near the sea with lots of amenities, but be prepared to be sent back to the 50’s, 60’s. Not necessarily a bad thing but the decor and the layout, is like going back to the Hi De Hi days, which gives it a certain charm. The only thing I would mark it down on was the barman trying to pour a pint of lager. Everyone doesn’t like at least 1” of froth on top, if they did the pint glass would be marked further down to allow for extra froth. I’ve been drinking since before the barman was born and I do know what a proper pint looks like, but overall a good experience.

My Husband & I stayed for 1 night, - a beautiful hotel in the perfect location! A dated hotel (this adds to its charm ) although it could do with a repaint on the outside. The hotel was clean, staff welcoming & friendly , Facilities - outdoor swimming pool - was lovely (due to time of year it was quiet which was welcome) , Golf course was great , and there are tennis courts which we ran out of time to use. Breakfast - just what we needed - the food was good, with lots of choice. Location - couldn't be more perfect - close to beaches, lots of walks and also easy access to swanage, and surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend & will return in the future.

Wow, this is a proper Cream Team. Spitfires flying overhead and views of The Needles. The scones are fresh and ‘lashings’ of proper double clotted cream. Wow there goes another Spitfire. But it could be stupendous if the garden was clean, the warm scones arrived with the means to eat them warm. If there was some hot water to de-stew the tea. Loads of milk to cool it all down with. It could so easily be 100%. I did not stay in the hotel.

Great location with incredible views. Excellent staff, very attentive and gracious. Some might say the Hotel is a little dated but it adds to it and has a 1930s 40s feel to it. Gardens and patio overlooking Studland Bay stunning. Will go again.

We had a fantastic stay at Knoll House. The location is absolutely stunning and makes for a truly memorable stay. The views over the coastline are incredible and we had some fantastic walks along the beach. The hotel is charming and, whilst dated in places, offers a warm and friendly setting in which to relax and unwind. We hope to return again and hope that if the hotel is developed, it is done so sympathetically and inkeeping with its heritage and the area.

Do Not Stay Here. We booked rooms here last minute in July, had the "pleasure" of staying in 2 different family rooms, hands down the worst rooms we have every stayed in, anywhere. Room 1 - Filthy Balcony, Sand, Mouldy Pigeon Poo and Cobwebs. Beds uncomfortable. Room 2 - Bath Panel falling off, electrics not safe, filthy windows which I cleaned myself. Sea View Room was a view across a flat roof. Communal Areas mostly shabby. And for nearly £300 per night complete rip off. Raised concerns with staff, they didn't want to know. Read my reviews of previous places I've visited, I am not a moaner, this place is terrible and should be shut down for a refurb owners clearly have no money to reinvest, despite it appearing very busy and bizarrely other guests seemed to enjoy it. Safe to say it ruined the start of our holiday.

The Cumberland Hotel Bournemouth is a stylish art deco hotel located on East Cliff, offering free Wi-Fi and stunning views of Bournemouth Bay. The hotel provides a range of amenities for families, including seafront family rooms with comfortable bedding options. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool and take advantage of the hotel's partnership with Front Bike Hire for a leisurely ride along the 11km promenade from Hengistbury Head to Sandbanks.
We have just returned from a lovely 5 day holiday at the Cumberland Hotel Bournemouth. The staff were all very attentive, friendly and could not do enough for you. The rooms were very clean on arrival and were cleaned every day. We were half board and the breakfast was plentiful, only negative was that there was not enough fresh fruit. The evening meal was very tasty every night and plenty of choice. There was plenty of gluten free dishes to choose from too. There was two nights with entertainment, which was very good.

From the outside, the hotel could really use a lick of paint. It didn’t look much like the pictures online, which was disappointing at first. However, once you step inside, things improve. The lobby has a modern-meets-vintage style with greys, crystals, glass, and silver accents. Quite a nice entryway overall. The dining area brings in rich reds, giving off a vintage old-century vibe. The pool itself was underwhelming, and the poolside area felt tired the chairs in particular looked dated and not very inviting. Staff were generally accommodating and somewhat helpful, though not consistently outstanding. Parking is £12 a day, and spaces aren’t always guaranteed. We were lucky to find a spot, but this could be a challenge in busier times. Despite the rough exterior and some dated touches, the room and certain modern amenities (especially the AC and bathroom) really stood out. Breakfast was decent but slightly overpriced, and parking can be tricky, but overall, I left feeling happy with my stay. The location is convenient once you figure out the best way to the beach.

I feel that there are several very unfair and untrue reviews of this hotel. We stayed for a long weekend as a family with 2 teenagers and had a brilliant hotel. Lisa on reception was so kind and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was excellent value and delicious plus the swimming pool a great bonus to lounge around for the day enjoying a cocktail or two. The food served in the bar again was excellent value and just what everyone wanted - something to suit each taste. Great service, comfortable rooms with clean and modern bathrooms plus air conditioning. I highly recommend it for the value and service it offers with excellent facilities. It’s a genuine art deco hotel as well which adds to its charm in a stunning location. - what’s not to enjoy? We will return & thank you Cumberland 🙏

This hotel has character and maintains good cleanliness standards, though it would benefit from some modernization. The property has a quaint, older charm but shows its age in several areas that affected my stay. Room Conditions: While clean, the furniture shows considerable wear and could use updating. The mattress was unfortunately too soft, creating an uncomfortable dip in the center that made for a restless night's sleep. For future guests, you may want to request a room with a firmer mattress if available. Practical Concerns: The bathroom lighting setup is problematic - the two spotlights are positioned behind where you stand at the mirror, casting your face in shadow. This makes grooming tasks like shaving or applying makeup quite difficult. Additionally, the in-room kettle was non-functional, requiring a trip to reception for a replacement before I could make morning coffee. The shower pressure was also disappointingly weak. Overall Assessment: While the hotel is adequate for basic accommodation needs, these practical issues detracted from what could otherwise be a pleasant stay. The property has potential but would greatly benefit from addressing these maintenance and design concerns. The cleanliness and character are positives, but guests should be prepared for some inconveniences.

Beautiful hotel with stunning views of the sea. We enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Good options for vegetarians too we enjoyed the tofu and pepper stirfry for breakfast. The service was top class, walking distance to the beach. The only thing which we didn’t like is that the room did not have a mini fridge and also a safe which would have been nice to have considering the fact that it’s a 4 star hotel. The indoor pool was cold. Warm would have been nicer.. Otherwise we were very happy with our stay and will be hopefully visiting again in the future.

From the website photos I thought this hotel look great for a special occasion, however the reality was not. The outside exterior and pool area are in need of a refresh and deep clean. Broken wire fences, decking area needed painting. Downstairs area of hotel decorated art deco, but rooms very much a mix of colour and styles. Bedroom corridors smelt funny and again were a mix of colours and styles, they were also tatty in some places. I personally will not be using this hotel again. Five star prices, but three star facilities.

The pictures are catfish to put it bluntly. The reception looks lovely and well kept and then you go up the stairs to get to your room and the carpet and walls change drastically. The carpet was all ripped and covered with tapped down tea towel. The room had serious water damage the paint was crumbling and the metal plug socket was rusty. There was a mysterious stain on the throw pillow. We had no choice but to stay the night and just enjoy our day as much as we could. When we complained in the morning they offered us a free drink. I wanted my money back but they said they can’t. We left early to go home instead. We had a night left there.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, and I’ve stayed at a lot of “4*” hotels. I asked to have my 2 rooms adjoining about 14 days before we were due, but we got different floors. The sea view double with balcony was not clean to the standard I expected from 4 star and the balcony was rank. The bed was not in line with the base, the duvet cover was way bigger than the duvet and the bed protector was stained. I was charged for 2 cocktails, but they had an offer on which was buy 1, get 1 free. I was told this by another person, not the hotel. My grandkids had 2 small rubber rings in the pool for a full day, the next day, the manager said they aren’t allowed! It seems that they have no idea what the rules are here. The whole place is dated and most of the furniture has issues, with stains and chips. I also found out by other holiday makers that I overpaid by about £1000, as I booked direct with them. I would never stay here again!

Nestled along the stunning coastline, The Suncliff Hotel Bournemouth is a delightful retreat that perfectly blends comfort and convenience. This contemporary three-star hotel offers straightforward rooms equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi, allowing guests to stay connected while enjoying their seaside escape. With an inviting restaurant on-site, you can indulge in delicious meals, including a breakfast that has received rave reviews for its flavorful offerings. The hotel's prime location means you're just moments away from the vibrant town center and the picturesque Dorset beaches.
It was our wedding anniversary. I booked a surprise dinner table for me and my wife and it was the best thing I did. Julian and the staff of the hotel made it so special with flowers and friendly welcoming. The food was so delicious and well presented. Me and my wife enjoyed each minute of the dinner. Thank you so much. We’ll definitely be coming back soon - highly recommend!

I recently stayed at the Suncliff Hotel in Bournemouth and wanted to share my experience. The location of the hotel is absolutely stunning – right by the coast with beautiful views and easy access to the beach and surrounding areas. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. They really do know how to take care of their guests, and their friendliness was one of the highlights of our visit. However, there are several areas where the hotel could improve. The rooms do not have air conditioning, which made it very difficult to stay comfortable during the hot summer days – the air felt heavy and it was hard to breathe at times. The furniture in the rooms is quite outdated and gives off an old-fashioned vibe, which applies to the overall feel of the hotel as well. Parking was another issue, as the car park was constantly full, which made finding a space very frustrating. In the pool area, we noticed a lack of cleanliness, especially around the chairs where there was visible mess. Specifically, in room 212, the water pressure in the shower was extremely low and the sink was clogged, which was inconvenient. Given the price, I suppose these problems aren’t entirely unexpected, but still disappointing. In my opinion, a renovation would make a big difference and bring the hotel up to a much better standard. The potential is definitely there – especially thanks to the amazing staff and unbeatable location.

The Suncliff Hotel – Oceana Collection is a 3-star hotel set on Bournemouth’s East Overcliff Drive, well known for its excellent location. Guests enjoy being just a short walk from sandy beaches, the pier, gardens, and the town centre, while many rooms offer impressive sea views. One of the hotel’s strongest points is its staff. Visitors frequently mention that the team is friendly, approachable, and willing to help, which adds a welcoming feel to the stay. Facilities are another positive: the property has an indoor pool, sauna, gym, and squash courts, with access to outdoor pools at neighbouring Oceana hotels. Rooms with balconies or sea views are often considered the most comfortable. That said, the Suncliff shows its age in places. Some bedrooms and public areas feel tired, with dated décor, worn carpets, and occasional maintenance issues. Amenities are fairly basic, with no air conditioning, safes, or fridges in many rooms, and WiFi can be unreliable. Cleanliness is generally acceptable, though a few guests report lapses, particularly in bathrooms and shared spaces. Parking is available but limited and can feel expensive compared to expectations. Overall, the Suncliff Hotel suits travellers who prioritise location, sea views, and a friendly atmosphere over modern style or luxury. It offers good value for those seeking a simple seaside break in Bournemouth, but guests looking for contemporary décor or more polished facilities may prefer to explore other options nearby.

This is a definite three star hotel. Positives: ✅ The view from the hotel of the sea ✅ Clean rooms. ✅ Mostly friendly staff. ✅ Mostly good food. ✅ 20% discount on food on Tuesdays between 12 and 5:30 pm. ✅ 10% off drinks on Tuesdays during happy hour. ✅ 10% off food if you book direct. ✅ Free car park included if you book direct ✅ Use of neighbouring outdoor pool at the Cumberland hotel for free included. ✅ Indoor pool. ✅ The car park had plenty of spaces. ✅ White fluffy towel towels. ✅ Tea & Coffee facilities in the room. ✅ There was a good range of breakfast, food and drinks. ✅ The room was clean. Negatives: ❌ It’s a 20 walk to the actual beach. ❌ They don’t make it known widely that they have discount on a Tuesday on food and drink. ❌ The rooms are incredibly hot in the summer unless you have a penthouse with air-conditioning and a fridge. ❌ The room furniture was tired. ❌ The lift smells because of people going in with wet feet from the swimming pools. ❌ The chicken nuggets on the children’s menu were made from mechanically recovered chicken and therefore tasted awful. We would recommend children eating the breaded chicken off the adults menu instead. Overall this is a good hotel to stay in. If you want to have a cooler room in the summer, pay the extra and stay in the penthouse rooms with air-con and a fridge. Special mention to Chris behind the bar. Thank you for your hospitality (good G&Ts).

The team at the Suncliff were very efficient and helpful. We had an issue with a bed in our room and they were happy to move us in the first instance. There are lots of facilities to use and great entertainment. The room we had was basic but we only needed to put our head down. I didn't try the breakfast but it was buffet style and there looked to be a sufficient selection. A little more attention to the rooms and this place would be a little gem.

Stopped in the penthouse and the view from the balcony was amazing. The hotel is lovely. Unfortunately the outside seating area for the bar is pretty rubbish, however the hotel next door is part of the same group and the bar, terrace pool etc is stunning. All in all a lovely place to stop. Breakfast is good too. Buffet style and all well cooked.

I stayed 2 nights for a family gathering. The good: The rooms are a reasonable size, the staff are friendly, and prices are comparable to the major chains. It's also right on the waterfront if that's what you want. Decent breakfast too. The bad: Worn and tired. The pricing is about on-par with the big chains, but the building is in poorer condition. Looks a lot better in the photos than in person. Paid extra for a room with a bathtub. The bath was large, but the room listing gave the impression that it would be more luxurious than it was.

Lovely hotel, only one big issue was the lift being broken and we were on the top floor. A few other niggles but superficial. Nice food. Restaurant manager from Madeira very friendly. Nice weekend break.

If you're wandering through Bournemouth and looking for a cozy spot to refuel after a day at the beach, The Pavilion Arms is an excellent choice. This charming restaurant serves up hearty British classics that are sure to satisfy your cravings, from crispy fish and chips to comforting pie and mash. Don't miss out on their renowned roast dinner, which pairs perfectly with a refreshing pint of Butcombe beer.
Our room and the public areas were spotlessly clean and housekeeping maintained our room during our stay. Breakfasts were very good with a varied menu and my wife’s gluten intolerance was well catered for. The dinner we had was freshly cooked, hot and tasty. All the staff were helpful and friendly and young Sam made us feel welcome when we arrived. Will definitely be back when we are in the area .

Such a beautiful little place. We loved our stay. All the staff were nice & nothing too much trouble. Our room was spotless, it was however very warm but a fan was thankfully provided. Thank you for a great nights sleep on our road trip & some gorgeous food hats off to the kitchen team. What we paid was Amazing value for our room & breakfast included which was also delicious

Would like to thank the manager and staff for an excellent experience yesterday lunchtime(Sunday) who made my daughter who is Autistic and myself feel so welcome and understanding of my daughters needs. Food was excellent, definitely recommend Sunday Roasts and the waiting staff was also excellent and very efficient. The jug of water to the table without asking was a very nice touch. I highly recommend this beautiful place. Can't wait to return, big thanks again to the manager. Many thanks, Victoria.

Delightful overnight stay at the Pavilion Arms. Very well looked after by the Deputy Manager, Sam, who checked us in, served us at lunchtime and at breakfast the following morning. Our food was fresh, tasty and well presented. The room was clean, comfortable with nice touches, such as a jar of homemade cookies to go with the tea and coffee in the room. A small fridge had a flask of fresh milk and 2 reusable and sealed fresh water bottles. Would highly recommend and will seek out other Butcombe places to stay and pubs to visit.

A meal out to catch up with friends. There happened to be a quiz on that night as well, which we took part in and was extremely friendly and good fun. The staff were amazing and the manager very helpful and the young girl that served us extremely friendly. Food was of excellent quality and really enjoyable. We will definitely return.

We went for lunch at what I can only describe as a very well managed restaurant. The server Ana was an absolute delight, friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and very well presented. Definitely going again. We live in Bournemouth quite close to this establishment but had never been in as we remembered it was under the last company. We have sold ourselves short by not using it. We would recommend this restaurant to all.

RNLI College, situated on the edge of Poole Bay with stunning views of the English Channel, is home to Riggers Restaurant. This stylish eatery offers a unique afternoon tea experience where guests can savor delectable sandwiches and homemade cakes while gazing at panoramic sea views. What makes this experience even more special is that every bite supports the vital lifesaving work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
We combined joining a wonderful RNLI discovery tour with staying for the night. Room was excellent, views onto the harbour and a lovely sunset. Enjoyable dinner in the Rigger. Convenient car parking. Friendly staff. Supporting a great cause. Great place to stay.

Excellent stay, comfy rooms. Finally got to do the tour of the training establishment. Very knowledgeable guide Stuart explained everything about training both lifeboat crew and lifeguards. Must come back and do the tour explaining the construction of the lifeboats.

We didn’t stay in the hotel but came here for an event with the lifeboats. From the first moment emailing the staff before our visit they were all amazingly helpful. The day of the event it was very well organised and we had a great time. The RNLI shop and restaurant on site is a nice touch and was very reasonably priced too. There was disabled parking on site.

Fantastic little getaway at RNLI College in Poole. Highly recommend visiting and staying at the hotel. The staff are so helpful, and have such passion and knowledge. Evelyn are tour guide was particularly brilliant and engaging with the group. We learnt so much and had a fab time. The RNLI is a wonderful charity. Thank you for everything you do!

This was naturally, the culmination of my 2025 motorcycle trip. The RNLI College in Poole is where Lifeboat crews are trained. If you book a place on one of the tours, you will get to see exactly how strenuous and rigorous that training, of necessity, has to be! You can stay at the College, like a hotel, if you wish and they have a great bar/restaurant there, too.
Mitch P — Google review
To say I was disappointed doesnt even begin to cover it. I was actually very upset when visiting here. Having been a supporter of the RNLI for many, many years and having earlier that day being to the Poole rnli museum and loved it. We made the decision to go and visit the college. After spending ages trying to park, we walked to the college. The first thing we came across was a set of metal stairs saying viewing platform. Having carried the dog up to the top of the viewing platform all you could see was an empty swimming pool and a view of Asda. We then went round to the main entrance of the college only to be told that we couldn't take dogs inside. This is the first ever RNLI location that I've encountered where this has been the case. Truly disappointed. We were then told that we could take the dog around the outside area. This turned out to be a very very small area where we could see one boat that was tied up and the closed coffee shop. Total waste of time, not the standards I've come to expect from the rnli. Whilst there, we noticed that the very extravagant college had been built with donations. It was obvious that a great deal of money had been spent to make it look attractive rather than to make it functional, having supported the RNLI for many, many years this has probably now put me off supporting them ever again. Truly heartbreaking as I think the work they do is amazing.
